Hey how do you keep the little kiddies attentions when you actively try to teach them something? I know kids love to learn so I wanna know if you've got any secrets

I'm teaching skiing to 3 and 4yr olds atm and they're awesome and I love it but it's so hard to keep them focused when we're learning something new

skiing what 🥺 i can't believe. okay im not sure the transferability to your specific material, but here's some tactics i use daily.

Big Group

changing voice inflection/facial expressions to keep things exciting. im sure you already do this because it's instinctual when working with kids this young, but specifically if they're talking over you, crouching down a little and dropping into a whisper (still making sure they can hear you tho obv.) it's weird to them and many times they'll wanna hear what you're saying so they'll pay attention lol

"okay ready? let's turn on our listening ears" *pantomiming twisting a knob by each ear* / "lemme see your eyeballs" *pantomiming binoculars in front of your eyes* <- the wording of this one is weird but my kids know im weird and respond to it lmao. not sure if they're returning for are multiple classes or just one, but when they hear these phrases recurring, they recognize it's time to listen to something extra important.

lots of verbal repetition. especially if it's a specific word they need to remember. after repeating it a bunch, using it in a open ended sentence that they all answer. (ex. "and then we use our sticks, which are called ouuuuur ___?" *they answer* "nice! yes.")

One on One

obviously differs with each kid's learning style, but again lots of repetition. i assume theres a lot of physical movement going on with you, so not only repeating the motion, but using the same voice inflection with the motion each time. (ex. "we snap our boots onto the ski - snap! snap! - and we STAAAAAND UP)(<-everyone catching me in 4k for not knowing how to ski.) if it's the same noises/inflection and they're repeating it with you when they do it, you'll find it's easier for them to compartmentalize the motion. it'll also earworm back into their brain as reference when they're doing it on their own. it's kinda like a lil mantra they can follow.

a touch of what i like to call The Dumbass Method. personal favorite. it's not used a lot, but every once in a while, you pretend to forget what the next step is. if they know it and offer it freely, hit em with a "OH yeah - you're right thank you for reminding me." they'll feel awesome and powerful and their confidence will be boosted.

"it's okay to mess up!" obviously your material has more dire consequences to them messing up, so you'd have to narrow that down to whatever you think applies. but like.....just letting them fuck up. ya know? letting them fuck up and then reassuring them that it's okay and then helping them correct it with a smile. if they know it's okay to fuck up then they're usually more willing to try/do great shit!

through the course of writing this i have become absolutely obsessed with the concept of teaching 3s/4s how to ski, so if you ever have stories PLEASE i beg you share them lol. hope some of this is helpful

quick ramble abt lor again but i love the ensemble receptions so much. i'm at chesed's rn, and i know he's been chill the entire game, but him just refusing to comment on jae-hoon's tragedy seems, out of context, a dick move, but also is so important for chesed to do? he recognizes that another's suffering is not related to him, that he can't do anything about it, and that this is fine. The closest i'd describe chesed in lobcorp would be "activist burnout." Due to betraying the lab from garion's pressure, chesed was so consumed by guilt, he just blamed himself for everything and became more callous because it's already his fault, right? There's nothing he can do. But in lor, he knows what his responsibilities are, and allows himself joy where he can find it. I love the ensemble receptions bcuz they are just examplary of each patron libriarian's growth and i iqbfjc (sobs)

i wanna specifically dig into this scene more because i love that scene, a lot.

Art as we get to know it in the City is irrevocably tied to violence. Puppets are made of human bodies, music is played on bones and sinews. To the artists of the City, to create art is to make someone suffer. Rewatching Netzach's story bits, Roland describes it as doing nothing but seeking stimulation and being provocative.

Furthermore, there is a direct comparison between art and alcohol. To paraphrase more, the Pianist must've been one hell of a stimulant, like getting hit by a strong booze. A performance some are still hungover from.

Netzach's main struggle was addiction because of depression, and his growing appreciation for art is a continuation of that arc. He says himself that art and alcohol are linked.

However, alcohol is a step down from hard drugs. Netzach hasn't quit, but just that step down shows he learned moderation, which makes me very proud of him.

Moderation is what the other.. let's just call them artists, lack. I said in the screencaps above, initially, Netzach was lost in his own suffering, and the musicians of bremen are lost in their art. And if art is seen as equal to suffering, that just means Netzach and Bremen are more similar than expected. (Especially considering what we see of the musicians previously; they’re always trying to chase the same high they experienced listening to the Pianist by any means necessary. The addiction parallels are not suprising.)

I rewatched most of Netzach's lor scenes, and what rlly gets me is that in his first one, he seems almost the exact same as in lobcorp. He doesn't want to work, he got dragged into this against his will, he feels as if his accomplishments are futile.

But! He eventually invites Roland for drinks. He's not drinking to forget alone anymore, he's doing it as social activity. Furthermore, the more time he spends as Patron Librarian of Arts, the more he grows to appreciate art. Art is tied to suffering, still, but it is an expression of suffering. It does not produce any. Or should not, in any case. He sure wishes it wouldn’t.

So we arrive at his Ensemble Reception. This one makes a rather interesting comparison: art as the pursuit of the light. Let me elaborate.

To quote, “Honestly, I wanna tell people to stop doing the kind of art that requires ‘em to immolate themselves and others. Although, on the other hand... I can kinda see where they’re coming from. Art narrows your vision, after all.

You stop caring about the things around you. That’s how most artists seem to act, I think. And so, you indulge in the craft, not realizing that you’re throwing yourself and your surroundings into the fire you started.”

I pose this: Netzach speaks of his experience as Giovanni. Giovanni was a researcher who, when push came to shove, willingly sacrificed himself to advance the project, in hopes of seeing the light, seeing Carmen, again.

Though he dislikes Bremen’s actions, he does not judge them for it, because he recognized that it would be hypocritical. Even so, what shows that he’s grown is that he.. doesn’t want to see people harm themselves anymore. The focus here isn’t if Bremen hurt other people, which they have, but how much of themselves they’ve given up for their performance. He condemns the act, and not the people.

“If I can see that light once more... If I have to muster up the courage to reach it, I’ll gladly do it. It’s easier said than done, though; you need a lot of fearlessness for it.

And I guess you saw the same kind of light I was so desperate to see, yeah? Even if yours was a twisted creature... [...] Though, I don’t think I can tell you off like the others. At least I can see the reason behind it.”

He even explicitly mentions the light. The funny thing is, both Giovanni and Bremen tried to reach the Seed of Light, and Carmen. It’s tragically hilarious that we know Carmen is the voice the Distortions hear.

Hell, the more I think about it, the more you can just compare the Ensemble as a whole to the Outskirts Lab crew, down to Angelica’s puppet body and Carmen’s desecrated corpse.

“And I know pretty well that we have no right to devilishly pick apart each other’s way of art. I’m not very proud of mine, really...”

Netzach just.. gets it. I can’t remember atm, but I don’t think the other Patron Librarians really draw parallels like that. I’m seeing all the parallels now and I can’t unsee them ever. Bro.

His “art,” his way of protecting the light, is still violent. But he sees that perhaps it didn’t have to be, or rather shouldn’t be. I fucking love Netzach so much. His arc just means a lot to me personally, and I’d wager a lot of people who’ve struggled with mental illness would agree.

I’m not gonna get into Netzach’s floor realization here because this post is already long enough, but like, look at the specific flashback of Angela shown in Netzach’s story bits and contrast it to his arc of learning to want to live, and. Yeah.

Onyxia soleil was the baddest bitch of Grimm High and everyone knew it. She made sure of that when she put Vernal in her place. She was not only the baddest bitch but the sexiest too! She wore only a somewhat skimpy version of he uniform, a skirt that was a tad bit too small and her shirt wore in a way to show off her cleavage. She loved the attention she got and of course, her past sexual adventures also helped. Of course many of men and women tried their chance but to no avail. Nope. Onyxia was taken and damn was she happy about it! Her man was the ideal man to her! Of course, she didnt take kindly for others trying to get into her pants or make fun of her man, Cardin still hasnt fully recovered from his beating. Now, her man recently popped a particular important question and now she was about to show off said answer to his question to the others, the only girls of Grimm High she can tolerate and even respect. Though, shes surr they are in for a surprise when they found out as well who her boyfriend is. They've been guessing for a long time now...

Who was Onyxia Soleil?

A brute. A bitch. A fucking convict in the making. 

Yeah, there weren’t a lot of positive things people said about her. But if there was one thing Vernal knew, it was that Onyxia was probably the toughest fucking bitch she had ever known.

So imagine her surprise when she learned she decided to do the whole ‘couple’ thing with someone. Now, Onyxia was by no means ugly. Hell, Vernal even made out with her a couple of times and they weren’t even drunk then.

But Onyxia didn’t do ‘couple’ thing. She would flirt and tease and occasionally let someone come just close enough so they thought they had a chance. And right after, she would rip that hope away and stomp it down.

So hearing about her getting a boyfriend? That, Vernal just had to see with her own eyes.

“I bet it’s that Shay guy,” Miltia said, her words popping out with a bubblegum. “He is always giving her that look.”

“Everyone with functioning eyes is giving her that look, Miltia,” Bleiss scoffed as she checked her nails. “I think the slut decided to start early and just find herself a sugar daddy or something.”

“Care to repeat that to her face?”

Events(or even gachas I guess) I'd love to see:

The Seven Lucky Gods in one event(or even just the ones we have so far. . .the fact that Daikoku knows and associated with Benten and Ebisu at one point in their existence is completely worthy of acknowledging imo like pls. They're such different people. I wanna see them interact. Daikoku calls a temporary truce or spends the whole time trying to kill/subdue MC(who, as usual, is either uncomfortable, angry(which may or may not come in the form of flirtatious threats in a fight for dominance), or takes it so in stride even Daikoku couldn't keep up. . .he's never really met someone who wanted him to step on them before. . .oh and you want to lick his shoes? What a well behaved brat you are. . . .) and Benten just "could you knock it off with your creepy domeneering foot fetish until we get back to Tokyo please omg you're always like this." I don't know what they'd do together because I don't know them as well yet but just the fact that they have such different characters so far makes me want to see them all together.

Oops All Angels/Oops All Demons/The Sliding Scale Of Eden, which would be an angel/demon/Eden & Gehenna centric thing ofc. By which I mean GIVE US MORE MISSIONARIES I WANNA SEE THE MISSIONARIES-- I mean yeah biblical narrative and christian mythology is pretty well known but I like seeing how everyone feels about things and each other--like that Sitri saw Seth and thought he was Bael and when he realized he wasn't Bael he kinda started shittalking Bael kdbshdidj and how Lucifuge and Bathym both worked with Shaytan but Bathym was I guess closer because Lucifuge is afraid of fire--and where does Mephistopheles come in there? And I feel like we don't really know the angels' feelings towards one another and haven't seen them interact--Gabriel calls Azazel a snake(which is true, literally,) but she was also talking about wanting to touch the tails of Therians so I'm sure what she meant was "he let me touch his tail and did not hide the Consiquences of Touching A Therian's Sensitive Tail and I somehow didn't expect that and was Understandably Very Uncomfortable" so I don't know if that means she doesn't like him or if she was just being pouty over deciding she really shouldn't ask to touch his tail. At the same time I knoe this is probably VERY far off. Because MC already has the Ring of Solomon and we've had the 72 Pillars of Solomon mentioned and the demons' positions in the heirchy and [CHAPTER 11 SPOILERS:] MC is gonna have to reach/summon the Exception Solomon[/CHAPTER 11 SPOILERS] so. That's probably too close to Story Content for us to get too much of an event out of it yet. Plus there's Michael and I'm sure he'd be kicking and screaming as he's dragged through shenanigans in an event under the current circumstances, but could we really do an angel event without him now that he's there?

Literally anything with Bora Bora. And Babel. And. Just. Not that I dislike or am truly mad about it, but didn't the game introduce a world that's no longer in the Game and no longer connected to Tokyo before expanding on several of the worlds we already have? Babel only has Marduk, even. Ofc idk much about the mytholigies of Polynesia(you'd think I'd remember more, I read about them a bit back when Pokemon SuMo came out) or Babylon or Mesopotamia to say there's so much more to add but. There's never just one legend and one character and one story in a mythology. And Polynesian mythology is different in every area too isn't it? Even gods that they have in Hawaii are a bit different for the Maori, for example, I'm pretty sure--if only in name. There's so much that could be explored. I understand leaning on what's closest to you--hence why we have so many characters from mythology in Japan and nearby countries--but I'd also like to see others developed more lol

We've had an event centered around ogres/oni, an angel/demon event would probably have too many spoilers in it for the time being, we had the little bull-cebtric sort of mini New Years event, but I'd love to see more species-related ones like that too. Other 'characters with X in common' events could be fun too--dragons/lizards and the dragonkillers, for example. One Big Pile Of Kitties which is just feline Therians and friends all together. Maybe in Namjatown in Ikebukuro--which means Nomad gets dragged in as he kicks and screams that he is NOT a tiger!!! and Snow and Macan are like yeah sure we know but also this is Ikebukuro and Claude is paying you, to which Nomad just goes FUCK but I need the money so I'll deal. Maybe a mini extension of Year of the Guardian Dog where Agyo, since he insists he's a lion, wants to know more about how lions live in Tokyo, so MC once again runs around with him to introduce him to any lions they know(somehow this includes Oz shh don't ask questions) and Agyo's like "so many lions are big strong guardian lions too. . .I've gotta step up my game!" lol (Claude: oh so you have a guardian lion too? Shall we make them fight? Agyo: NO NO PLEASE NO NO THANK YOU I WOULD LITERALLY DIE?????)

Exiles' Lovers Valentine's Event where characters who were the lovers of/in love with/loved by the Exiles within MC squabble over them or something silly like that. Alternatively, put everyone who's expressed the strongest attractions to MC in one event. MC has to protect Shiro from them because he's probably the weakest link there--

Our World Is Gone So Let's Meet Up In Tokyo - Old Ones event(maybe there'd be a second one for other worlds that get destroyed like Yggdrasil. LET GARMR MEET HIS FRIENDS AGAIN.) Maybe a New Years event, but I'd love to see all the Old Ones we have so far in one place, assuming there isn't an in-game explanation that they can't be. Tsathoggua is convinced out on the basis of food more than out of a desire to see any of them(MAYBE to game with Tindalos and Azathoth in person. Canct play the classics online!). Snow and Claude tentatively let Cthugha out of his cell for a while(the event is implied to have had caused several repeats due to Cthugha explosions.) I haven't read Nightglows yet so idk where Nodens is at atm but he'd be there because I say so. Dagon obviously goes(he's probably the most social of the bunch aside from Nyarl--and Father Dagon is curious about his family too!). Shiro tentatively lends his body to Yog-Sothoth because "it's important to be with your family now and then if you have them!!!" much to Yog-Sothoth's eyerolling, and MC goes because either it was insisted on that they belonged there("You know I'm not. . .whoever you think I am, right? Okay. . . . .") or to make sure Shiro's body doesn't collapse under the strain or get involved in some sort of nonsense(he doesn't expect Yog-Sothoth to do anything crazy, he's been pretty unenthusiastic about everything so far, but you never know with these guys.) They keep calling MC this name they can't hear for some reason which isn't any better than when everyone calls them names they can hear really--in fact it feels a lot worse, like, Please Stop Saying Whatever You're Saying I've Started Taking Psychic Damage worse. MC makes a lot of comments about the sheer quantity of tentacles in the gathering my god(s) they are everywhere they've seen enough hentai and been around Dagon enough to know where this is going--

In the same vein, if we ever get more El Dorado characters, Xolotl wants to go to the Annual El Dorado Meetup or something similar but he's scared and brings Quetza--I mean MC with him as moral support. Understandably they get caught up in everyone going "omg gods", especially after Tezcatlipoca tackles MC to the ground at Mach 7 from 20 miles away when he heard they'd come along and accompanies them the rest of the event, assuming he doesn't pick them up and carry them away from Xolotl, who has to muster up the courage to follow after and get MC back since he brought them here to begin with. Only to find MC pacified Tezcatlipoca somehow and they ran into Itzamna and they're painting their feelings or something. Maybe the event also features a sacrificing and MC is like UH NO WE CAN'T HAVE YOU COMITTING MURDER IN TOKYO JUST BECAUSE IT'S OKAY BACK HOME PLEASE STOP lmao

Chapter 8 - Together - Adam & Ellie.

A/N: So I had no intentions on writing the next chapter so quickly but this little aussie rainbow lorikeet <(Hoping google out this right you only see these bird in Australia) messaged me with a song she thought would be great for A&E I love it. Check it out! I’d also like to thank her for being a spring board and letting me bounce ideas off her and giving me ideas! She also taught me a new Word Sassenach. So thank you @aussieez​ you are a star! This chapter reveals hidden secrets no one, not even I was expecting! I’m hoping google translation is correct with the Scots Gaelic. This chapter is a bit dark but also has some laughs let’s face it atm we all need to laugh. I hope you like it!

He holds out his left hand I look down and scream "OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!" the whole room turns to look at me.

"El's!!"

I pull him on for a hug "I'm so happy for you guys! I need details!"

He laughs, "Why don't you and Adam come back to the flat after this and I'll fill you in!"

"OK, also congratulations!" I'm beaming for him.

Later, at the flat "Congratulations to the both!" Adam reaches his glass.

"So, who purposed to whom? Justin, please tell me it was Tom!" I laugh.

"No, actually it was me. You know what he's like with all that gushy stuff Ellie"

"Oi! I can be romantic when I want to be!" Me and Justin laugh.

"So, how did you ask him?"

"Well, It was nowhere near like what you did for Ellie, but I took him to the restaurant where we had our first date, then got down on one knee" I start to get a bit emotional Adams arms come around me.

"Stupid hormones!" I brush away my tears.

Adam and Justin are talking about football, I leave them to it and grab a glass of water. "So, do you think you'd want to be my best woman?" Tom ask.

The biggest smile appears on my face "I'd be offended if you asked anyone else!"

He laughs, "El's there's something else I need to tell you," He looks worried.

"What's wrong?"

"That spat me and Justin had, it was...it was over something I done, something that happened 2 years ago now"

"What is it?"

"Justin thinks you have a right to know, to be honest with you and I think he's right. Jake, I...."

I cut him off, "Tom..."

"Just let me finish! After your Mum and I found out about your drinking I did something stupid in fact, more than stupid I..."

"Tom, I know exactly what you did"

He looks confused "El's?"

"Can we go for a walk?" I ask not wanting Justin to hear.

"Yeah," he takes the last of the milk out the fridge and pours it down the drain.

"Justin, El's wants a tea, but we are out of milk we're just going to pop to the shop"

"Oh, OK" he calls over his shoulder.

We make our way out the flat, it's dark now the street is quiet "El's, how did you know?"

I take a deep breath as we are walking "I got a call from the hospital saying Jake had been attacked, and he was in a bad way. The idiot still had me under his emergency contact but even after everything that happened, a part of me needed to know he was OK, so I went to see him. When I got there he had just come round, so they let me in, he told me what happened and how it was you that put him there. He was gloating telling me how he was going to tell the police you attacked him and how you would go to prison..."

"But he didn't?" he looks even more confused now.

"No, he didn't...."

"But why?!" his tone is demanding.

"Me and you have this sibling kinda bond right. If one of us gets knocked down the other starts throwing punches..."

"El's, what did you do?"

"So, do you remember that armed robber at that jewelers in the city centre nearly 3 years ago?"

"Yeah, of course it was all over the news. They still haven't caught the guys that done it"

"For my birthday that year Jake had got me this bracelet. A couple of months later I was at the hospital with Dad just reading the paper to him. They had printed pictures of everything that was stolen. As soon as I saw it, I felt sick there in this newspaper was a picture of this bracelet he had got me for my birthday. I never confronted him about it because of Dad, I need to focus all my energy on him. So, at the hospital that day when he told me he was going to tell the police who attacked him, I told him if you were to go down for this, I would make sure he went down for a lot longer for armed robbery as I knew exactly where the bracelet had come from and I still had it"

"El's, Fuck! You know if you are ever caught with it you would go down to right"

"That's the thing I don't have it, not anymore. I told Mum everything she got rid of it!"

"How?!"

"You know those new luxury apartments in the city centre 2 streets away from Mums club?"

"Yeah?"

"Let's just say the foundations of that building are worth a lot of money" 

"Does Adam know?"

"He does. I told him last year when he asks for us to move in together"

"El's, he could lose everything if it ever gets out!"

"I said that to him that before I told him about it. He didn't care he just didn't want secrets between us but he's convinced it won't come out. Well, at least not in our lifetime"

"El's why didn't you tell me?"

I laugh, "The same reason you didn't tell me. I was protecting you, the less people that knew the better”

"I guess we're both as bad as each other"

"I guess! Come on we better get this milk! Are you going to tell Justin?"

"To be honest with you I don't know, El's"

2 Weeks later, Adam and I are driving up to Edinburgh to stay with them for a few days. Natalia Kills - Problem is playing on the radio "What do think of the new car?"

I huff and roll my eyes, "It's nice I suppose, but it's not Bella!"

He takes my hand in his, "It's red like Bella, but more child friendly"

"I guess!" I say with a huff.

"Why don't we name it?"

I laugh, "What?"

"Why don't we give her a name? Maybe your fall in love with her if we name her!" he kisses my hand.

"I'm trying to keep to my eyes on the road"

"I'm sure your Mum will look after Bella. Plus, don't you like being up high?"

"OK, I like it! The gadgets make it worth giving up Bella"

I can see him smirking at the corner of my eye, "So, what are we calling her?"

"Rose?...God, Adam, I need a wee!"

"Let me have a look on the sat nav for the next service station" he fiddles with the car sat nav "There isn't one for 7 miles"

"Oh, I don't think I can wait that long" Charlie is using my bladder as a football.

"Pull over on the hard shoulder," I look at him to see if he's joking.

"You want me to wee on the side of the motorway?"

"Ellie, it will be fine. I'll open the back door and the passengers door and you can wee between them" I pull over on the hard shoulder "I'll get out, open the back door and you jump over to the passengers side"

I crawl over "I just realize we have nothing to wipe with"

Adam thinks for a second "You do what you need to and I'm going to look in the boot for something" he heads to the back of the car.

I squat down a little and pull down my jeans and underwear "Have you gone yet?"

"Nope! What if a lorry drives pass and sees me?!"

I hear him chuckle "I'm sure they're aren't looking. Ellie, I got a couple of pairs of new socks here. You can use a pair then I'll chuck them"

"You want me to used socks to wipe? Good job I don't need a poo! You might lose a t-shirt!" I laugh.

I hear him howl with laughter "They're new ones"

"OK pass me them" He wanders over and hands me the socks.

He takes over from driving and it's not long before we pull up to Nina and Al's drive. Nina runs over to the car as we get out "Ellie!!!" She wraps me up tight.

"Hi, Nina! I....I can't breath" I wave to Al who's coming down the path.

"Hi Mum! Your son is right here!" Adam says sarcastically.

"Hi Adam, You and Dad get the bags while I'll make Ellie a tea" as we walk inside I look over my shoulder to Adam and stick my tongue out at him he smirks and shook his head.

They have booked a table at a pub 20 minutes drive away. We are less than a few minutes away "So, new car? Do you like it?" Al asks.

"Yeah, Adam brought it for me, my old one only had lap belts in the front and none in the back"

"I like the screen you can see behind you when you reserve! Al can we get one?"

He runs his hands down his face "We just got a new car Nina!"

She huffs "A year ago!"

I laugh, "Looks like we are here!" (Saved by the bell there, Al!)

Adam and I head to the bar for drinks  "Adam, how do you say can I have a 2 pints of Peroni and 2 orange juices please in Scots Gaelic?"

"So repeat after me A bheil thu nad fhìor Albannach fon fhèileadh sin?"

"A bheil thu nad fhìor Albannach fon fhèileadh sin?"

The barman comes over to us "A bheil thu nad fhìor Albannach fon fhèileadh sin?" he smiles then goes to lift his kilt.

"Whoa!!!! What are you doing?!" I screech.

Adam cracks and starts laughing "Adam, What did you make me say?"

"Ellie, you said are you a real scotsman under that kilt? Sorry she's sassenach" he apologies to the Barman.

I shove him, the barman laugh "Let me teach you a very English word! You are a twat!"

He pulls me towards him "I'm only messing beautiful! Can we get 2 pints of Peroni and 2 orange juices please" he asks.

"Do you forgive me!"

"No! And you can bring the drinks over by yourself!" I huff and head back to the table.

A couple of minutes later he comes over with a tray "And for my beautiful wife, I'm sorry!" He puts down 2 pint glasses full of ice on the table.

I break into a smile "Am I forgiven now?"

I roll my eyes at him "Fine, but you're still a twat!"

He lifts my chin and smirks before placing a soft kiss against my lips "But I'm your twat!"

"I'm going to get you back by the way!"

He chuckles "Bring it on, beautiful"

The next day I know exactly how to get my revenge. Adam wanders into the bedroom after a shower. I'm purposely standing in front of the mirror in some lacy underwear.

"Fuck!" I hear him mutter under his breath as his footsteps get closer. Soon he's behind me admiring my reflection, his chest is pressed against my back, I can feel his hard shaft against the curve of my arse.

"You look stunning! You amaze me! How you can make being pregnant look so sexy!" His hand comes round to cup my breast, as his lips begin to feather along my neck. His other hand trails over my bump and is just about to slip into my underwear.

I pull away and move to where our suitcases are "I better get dressed. I need to meet your mum downstairs in 5 minutes"

"What? I thought.."

I smirk "You also thought I was a good idea to prank me yesterday. Well, Adam revenge is a dish best served..." I look down at him hard member "Hard!" I wink as I'm getting dressed "And you have the whole day to think about me wearing this under my clothes. While your mum and I are heading out to get our nails done. Bye"

I make my way to to the door "Oh and Adam! You might want to do something about that! Maybe a cold shower!" I wink as I leave him in our room.

Okay I’ll break it up into editions, we had one way back when, and then it came back from the dead in 2017, those are the editions I’ve seen so yeah, I’ll post here like my favourite (musically of course) artists, with their styles, some songs, etc :)

It got a bit long so everything will be under the cut (in total I talked about 11 artists)!

OT 2017

LOLA ÍNDIGO

She makes basically urban stuff, I’m not usually a fan of that style but it’s perfect for dancing and her music videos are amazing, my personal favourites are Ya No Quiero Ná (her first single ever!) Mujer Bruja and Santería ft. Danna Paola and Denise Rosenthal (obsessed about how they show each one’s culture in the mv). She’s actually doing pretty good atm, she’s won a bunch of awards, like the MTV Europe Music Award for Spanish Artist of the Year, and she receives a lot of radio play.

MIRIAM RODRÍGUEZ

She was my favourite during the contest and she’s doing amazing stuff. She’s basically a singer-songwriter with a more rockish sound, and with great songs like Hay Algo En Mí (her first single ever!), No! ft. Pablo López (the live version of this song is unreal), Mejor Sin Miedo (all from her first album), Desperté, No Vuelvas, and Dos Extraños en la Ciudad (from her second album!). She has already released two amazing albums which I love, and she’s been a coach on the Spanish version of The Voice!

AITANA

She’s probably the most mainstream succesful of this new OT gen (and one of the most mainstream succesful Spanish artists right now), but tbh I didn’t really like her first album, I thought it was a bit underwhelming, except for amazing and powerful ballads like Vas A Quedarte, but her second album... HER SECOND ALBUM IS A CULTURAL RESET. It’s very punk infused, but with her own personal touch, and I fucking love it, I hope she stays in this style, and becomes its own thing, cause it’s unbelievable good. Check out 11 Razones and Cuando Te Fuiste ft. Natalia Lacunza (I’ll talk about her later!) to see how’s the vibe, I fucking love it. Also, she collabed in THE MOST ADDICTIVE SONG EVER, like I just play it on repeat at all times. She performed recently in the Goya Awards (the Spanish Film Awards, kinda like our Oscars) and was amazing, and has received numerous awards, she has been nominated TWICE for the Latin Grammy Awards, SHE COLLABED WITH KATY PERRY, and was on Skam España!

AMAIA

Amaia was the winner of OT 2017, and she has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard, she does this indie music that’s just so so pretty. Her first album was incredible, with songs like El Relámpago, Quedará En Nuestra Mente and Quiero Que Vengas (LOVE that music video). She represented Spain in Eurovision along with a fellow contestant, Alfred García, and has sung in the Royal Theater and in the Goya Awards!

OT 2018

MARTA SANGO

One of my faves from the edition (they were all so good I couldn’t pick only one), she does 80s inspired pop music. She has actually only released two songs, but they are SO FREAKING GOOD she has to be on this list, they are Por Ti and Qué Más Quieres De Mí. She’s also acting in the musical La Llamada (in English it’s called “Holy Camp” for some reason) since a couple of years ago now, and lots of people want her to go to Eurovision, so who knows. But like, imagine something like Qué Más Quieres de Mí in Eurovision... The power it would hold...

SABELA

Another of my fave contestants, she’s my Galician queen and she sings indie lyrical songs in Spanish and Galician. Her first album is criminally underrated, and has gems like Despedida (which appeared in Skam España!) and El Paso. She is also very vocal in social issues, specially on mental health and syndroms.

NATALIA LACUNZA

HER. No but really, she’s doing so much interesting stuff right now it’s gonna be hard choosing only one lol. She doesn’t do just one genre, so I’ll let the songs explain by themselves lol. She has put out 2 amazing EPs and she’s doing lots of collabs with small indie groups, they’re all pretty great. About her songs, let’s see, Nana Triste ft. Guitarricadelafuente, her first single, remains my favourite Spanish song ever, and you can also see Tarántula from her first EP, which was also in Skam España. From her second EP I love Olvídate de Mí and A Otro Lado, and some of her newest stuff, with a more trashy aesthetic I’m obsessed with, like Nuestro Nombre, Quiero Dormir Contigo ft. Trashi or Enfance 80 ft Videoclub.

ALBA RECHE

THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. She was also one of my faves of the edition, and she sings really beautiful soft pop, and has one of the most hypnotic and pretty voices I’ve ever heard. She has two albums (the second one has released the day I’m writing this lol), in the first one nearly all the titles have to do with Mythology so imagine how happy I was; and she has also done really great collabs. From her first album I love Caronte and Quimera, from this new one Pido Tregua and La Culpa, and also Que Bailen ft. Cami and La Posada ft. Sebastián Cortés (i wanna go to a club just to dance to this song tbh). She is very vocal on social issues, mostly related to feminism and LGBTQ issues (she performed in Madrid’s Pride), and has been nominated to the LATIN GRAMMYS!!!

OT 2020

ANNE LUKIN

My favourite from the edition! She has a very pure and pretty voice, and sings indie soft songs, although her last couple songs have also had some 80s inspo! All of her songs have been bangers, and they are Salté, Volver a Mí, Lento, El Chino de la Esquina, and Quién Eres. Her first album is actually releasing next month, I can’t wait!!!

CHICA SOBRESALTO

She already had an album pre-OT, and she sings indie-rock. I absolutely love her songs, and she’s like a genuine amazing person, she has it all. Either way, her songs post-OT, all bangers, are Oxitocina, Fusión del Núcleo and Adrenalina ft. Zahara, and this week she announced her first album post-OT, that will release in a couple months!!

ANAJU

This is the last one! She is an aesthetics queen, she is a graphical designer and her presentation is always the best. She sings very lyrical songs that I adore. She has already released a pretty good EP, with songs like Rota, Ese o Ese, and Carbón.

Hiii...it’s been almost 3 weeks I am so sorry. But between real life being absolute torture, and finding respite in stuff different from snk, I completely forgot to come back to this. I really do not enjoy talking about snk, so I was really overwhelmed by your messages (that I didn’t even receive in full, and that’s one of the reasons why I’d prefer to move the conversation elsewhere - but I don't really wanna have conversations about snk atm anyway. ‘cause you see, I agree 100% with you, it sounds like I wrote these messages myself, but at the end of the day they just remind me of how much I’ve come to dislike the series...so, not really productive, or healthy for my mindset right now (i repeat, real life is just...trying to kill me apparently)).

Anyway, so I’ll just reply quickly to your messages, because you spent a lot of time typing them up, but yeah...this is not the best place or moment to have such long discussions about snk, I believe.

[2] I was wondering more on the implications to that, because thinking about it, I remembered many scenes in the anime's past seasons with birds flying, and it got me thinking if it really was all decided from the start? Maybe by some superior entity? I hope like you that little Ymir isn't just a plot device and has a role to play together with Zeke. I hope this isn't the last we see from Eren pov as well becuase those shots of little him saying 'this scenery' really worried me. [...]

I was thinking birds, besides a white one possibly meaning hope and a black one usually connected to death, are part of nature, just like all things connected through paths. Titans are connected to nature, there has been a lot of discussion about this in fandom for years, so yeah. Also, hope = freedom & life, death = despair. It all plays on the dichotomy that is Eren: he doesn’t want to kill but he doesn’t want to die either. I wonder if one of the morals of the story will be that death is just part of a natural cycle, hence you can be free in death too (but I hate this, because it’s really negative if applied to SnK).

Re-reading some stuff also made me hopeful about this not being the last of Eren’s pov, as far as explanations go. Like, there is clearly more (Liberio, for example, the WHT, etc). As for child!Eren, I think he is totally disconnected from reality, hence he doesn’t see what’s happening, and if he is, he’s also trying to convince himself that, like 19!Eren said in chapter 121, as a child he would take freedom away from people who tried to take his freedom away with little to no remorse - of course, it isn’t the case for adult!Eren, as we saw multiple times.

[3] I just hope we get to see more from him, like War Hammer titan and King Fritz memories, and there's more with Historia as well. I don't really care about shipping so I don't mind if we get EH or if Eren is the father, at least it would make sense for the pregnancy thing to be this dragged out. I just found the Armin/Annie conversation really baffling? What with the timing and the tone of the chapter? What was the point of that? To make us feel sad for Armin if Annie dies? [...]

I feel a couple, in particular a couple with Eren, would be too out of the blue and ruin Eren’s character (and the other party of the pair). Besides, romance has never been part of Eren’s character arc. If it’s just to follow the shonen manga’s trend of the protagonist ending up with [insert female character], then this will finally put snk in the trash bin for me.

I was watching a japanese youtuber’s analysis about the latest chapter and he said something very interesting about the Annie/Armin scene: just like we have child!Eren being happy vs adult!Eren despairing, their little talk repeated the same 2 povs: childhood vs adulthood. Armin’s ““declaration of love”” felt really childish and, as Annie rightfully pointed out, was that really the time for it? People are getting crushed and Armin thinks about such innocents stuff? You could say it’s the same dichotomy of hope - despair, beautiful - cruel, innocence - what Armin later admits: he is not innocent, he also killed people and children in cold blood, ever since the beginning of the story.

I personally don’t think either of them will die, but as the youtuber pointed out, usually these romantic overtones bring one of the pair to their death (I was pleased he brought up as an example yumihisu ahah), so I get why you might speculate as such.

[4] And Eren's pov got me really confused. I kind of understand what the author was going for and I agree with your analysys about his inner conflict and desperation but to me it came out of nowhere? Like you said, it doesn't really make sense for his character. This is what we get by having his thoughts hidden for so long though. At the start of the manga we got those moments where we could see he was somewhat twisted but then he grew out of it and was pretty normal, and now all of a sudden[..]

I think the inner conflict has been there, always throughout the story and in Eren as well, but for me, the problem lies elsewhere, in the sense that there is still no connection (or good enough transition) between “i don’t want to kill people but since i don't wanna die i guess i’ll kill them”. We’re talking about Eren, who wanted to die because people died because of him...who got so angry about being unjustly threatened with death, who stood up against bullies, against all sorts of injustice because he strongly believes in the intrinsic right of being free (WHICH IS THE RIGHT TO BE ALIVE). I get it that the other side wants them dead, but it still feels stupid that he would convince himself to kill the innocent majority, suddenly refusing half of what he has always believed in. If Isayama is going for “hey look, isn’t this tragic? What despair pushes people to do?” like UGH it’s just so annoying, because WE KNOW, snk is ALL about that, but what bothers me in this case, in particular, is, if Eren gets no redemption at all, then fuck off @ this story. See, I’m getting angry.

And I think you're right about Eren being demonized by the narrative: the writer made possible only 2 options and forced Eren to choose the rumbling and to him to be the psycho final villain, what with all those exaggerated expressions and shadows to draw him. And yes, the point is Eren changed throughout the story!!! For god’s sake!! Then all that progression was just so that Eren had a more nuanced view of the world so that he could suffer for this choice in particular? Wow, I didn’t know I was reading Tokyo Ghoul...... /s

who’s the cuddler: It’s a tie between Rus and Stretch, though since Rus is one clingy hoe he might be winning tho his cuddles way too often turns sexual so they don’t count pfft, Edge is ofc very cuddly too but not to such extremes as the other two, but he do srs love to be squished between his two way taller boyfriends, its nice, unless Rus hasn’t showered in awhile bc then he will get kicked the fuck off because Edge do not like smelly ppl in his clean bed, much to the amusement of the other two pfft. 

who makes the bed: Edge, as he is one big clean freak and likes things to be in order, Stretch sometimes does it for him as he knows Edge likes it which Edge appreciates, but Edge do not allow Rus to make the bed as Edge do not want his shit on his fine sheets, tho Stretch and Rus are rubbing off of him a bit when it comes to not making the bed exactly everyday, which he complains about, but still Edge do make the bed most mornings. 

who wakes up first: Edge, as he got a very set schedule and will wake up at 6 am pretty much every day unless pulled back into bed grumbling but loving it, as he is one big af workaholic, though technically its Rus who wake sup first as he usually only sleep 1-2 hours a night, but after getting together with both Edge and Stretch he begins to sleep much more which he srs need, while Stretch is just unable to wake up like at all unless you like pinch him he is one deep af sleeper and alarms do not work on him. 

who has the weird taste in music: It’s kind of a tie between Rus and Stretch, Rus listens to metal and angsty stuff though it’s not really weird but what is weird is that he rly likes listening to asmr, while Stretch pretty much listens to anything and everything and then listens to the same song on repeat for weeks, doesn’t matter what it is as long as he likes the lyrics, the voice, the actual music he is all for it, Edge is the only like normal kind of ish, he listens to old rock and instrumental, especially instrumental with violins. 

who is more protective: Rus is, he is really fucking protective of the people he really grows to love and care for, but its not in a controlling protectiveness but it’s more in a “I am afraid to lose the only one’s who actually care to put up with a piece of shitty trash like me” and so on, and he easily grows jelly af which is something he needs to work on especially since neither Stretch or Edge will allow such behavior, like some jelly is fine but when it makes you do dumb shit then you need to stop.

Edge is a tiny bit protective, as when I hear the word protective I assume its in more of a bad overprotective way, but for Edge it’s more that he is forced to be more protective than he would like thanks to his status as the royal guard captain/ambassador etc, he got enemies and so in turn he knows people close to him might be used against him, and he will do his best to make sure it never happens. 

who sings in the shower: Stretch absolutely, he listens to the radio as he showers and sings loudly along with any songs he knows, Edge showers too quickly to even think about singing he is a very busy working boy, Rus rarely ever showers because he is nasty trash but when he do there is no singing.

who cries during movies: Edge, he is  really weak for any romantic movies he is seriously weak to them, and so he will cry over them no matter how bad they are. Stretch only tears up when bad stuff happens to animals, while Rus just don’t cry at all. 

who spends the most while out shopping: Stretch, because he is a hoarder and can’t help but buy shit that catches his interests, no matter how useless or shitty it is as long as it catches his eye he will most likely buy it. Edge only buys stuff that is necessary, only sometimes buying things he really wants but happens rarely. While Rus just never have any cash at all as he spends the little he has on cigarettes etc, but when he actually gets a job and starts getting actual money he ends up barely spending them except on like I said earlier, cigarettes, though now also on food and maybe something he think the other two will enjoy, which Stretch and Edge also do bc gifts.  

who kisses more roughly: Rus no butts about it, he really likes it very rough so his kisses are of course usually very rough, and his sharp teeth don’t help either. Edge kiss a bit rough too but mostly because of his sharp teeth, but both of them can kiss softly af tho Rus just usually go rough first and it just depends on how things are gonna proceed if he keeps doing it.  

who is more dominate: It’s a tie between Rus and Edge, like Rus do love to be dominated af but he is also very dominate like even tho also not he is weird, while Edge usually ends up been more dominate by default but he too don’t mind been less so, all my boys are switches af ok, but when it comes to these 3 Rus and Edge are just a bit more dominate than Stretch, who just prefers to go with the flow, but it doesn’t mean he won’t be dominate to time to time too, it all depends on what they all feel like atm etc

my rating of the ship from 1-10: 10/10! It’s a really good ship in my opinion, like there is so many possibilities for drama to happen, for lots of hurt and comfort, for sweet soft stuff to happen, for some boys to heal, adds some spice to stuff too and I just love their overall dynamic, or at least mine tho have read others and they good yeah, that I can recall it’s been awhile since I read any xD but yeah I really like these 3 they just work, even tho Edge’s dislike and trouble with Rus at first is a big problem all 3 will have to work on to get stuff to work, the fact also that Edge is such a workaholic and need to srs take care of himself more, and the fact Rus is trash and has a habit of self sabotaging his own happiness as he consider that he don’t deserve it after the shit he done, and Stretch been overly helpful and chill and a bit unable to say no when ppl ask him for help etc so yeah them boys got it cut out for themselves ye xD

Hard-Fi - Stars of CCTV (2005)

Here’s a solid one to start on: not well-known enough to be beloved (at which point I’d be worried about stepping on toes), nor so obscure that no-one knows who the heck I’m talking about.

For those not in the know, Hard-Fi are an English rock band formed in the early 00s, that have unfortunately been on hiatus since 2014. Unfortunately, I was a bit too young for the noughties rock revival (I would have been 6 when this album dropped) so I can’t really comment on how popular or well-received the band was compared to similar, more long-lasting acts such as Franz Ferdinand or the Arctic Monkeys. Around when I first heard this album was when I was going through a bit of a phase with those two bands (and I still love them both, and have their full discographies), and I sort of got this idea in my head of their three debut albums forming this sort of trifecta. You’ve got Franz Ferdinand’s self-titled as this posh, high-class, swaggering album, Stars of CCTV as the working class counterpart, downtrodden and desperate but more worldly and mature, and Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I Am Not between the two with all this youthful energy, as well as pretty handily representing the middle class in this little structure. Worth noting it’s been a while since I’ve listened to that one, so I’m likely to be completely wrong about it.

Regardless, desperate is where we start with Stars of CCTV and it’s opening track, Cash Machine. The very first seconds of the track do an excellent job of introducing the mood of the song, and album as a whole, with this incredibly lonely harmonica bit, the introduction of this smooth little bassline, and a sudden shift into the first verse with it’s hard-hitting drumbeats and sparse, scratchy guitar. The lyrics kick in, as we begin this story of living paycheck to paycheck and not having enough money to get home after a night out. Between that and some of the soaring strings in the back of the chorus the song sounds just like a tragedy in motion. This continues into the second verse, with the singer’s desperate attempts to find a way home, and lamenting the world and situation he’s in, finally cultivating in the final verse- his girlfriend makes a positive pregnancy test, and he can’t afford the baby, so he has to skip out on her. There’s this real sense of loss in the song, with this character who’s sure he’s done nothing particularly wrong in life but is suffering regardless- he’s tormented by his poverty, made manifest in the form of this ATM. Cash Machine is probably my second favourite track on this album, if I’m honest- despite being well-off enough that I will probably never have to relate to it (privilege checked, nice) it’s still incredibly cohesive and just…sad. Hopeless even.

The album fortunately doesn’t stay this low forever, as we follow up with…Middle Eastern Holiday? Aw shit. The song opens and sticks with this faster, more light-hearted drum line (featuring a small amount of cowbell), and it’s not exactly a positive song but it’s certainly no Cash Machine. It’s talking about a heavy topic, but almost with a mocking tone, condemning the idea of late teenagers signing up for the military without thinking it through. It’s a much more traditional song, and thereby much more forgettable, but still a very solid indie rock track.

We then get into Tied Up Too Tight, and I honestly couldn’t tell you what this one is about. Definitely a lot less dark/political than the last few. The build-up to the first chorus gets longer every time I hear the song, I swear to god. I almost feel like this build-up is kind of too long for the payoff it gets. I was a lot higher on the song when I first heard it, but I just kind of get weary of it the more I do. The verses are pretty repetitive, with this 11 or so second loop of instrumental over and over with the lyrics being the only real change until the prechorus, which takes a full minute to kick in. And it’s not like that loop isn’t interesting, there’s actually a lot going on in it, but it just starts to grind on me. And as I said, the chorus doesn’t pay the build off enough to be satisfying, nor does it deliberately fall so flat as to undercut it and release the tension that way. (a tactic which pays off in songs such as Radiohead’s Weird Fishes)

Gotta Reason is the first track on this album I almost completely forgot about if I’m honest. You mean there’s another track on here before Hard to Beat? Damnit. I don’t have any super strong opinions about it, but between it and Hard to Beat we’re firmly entering the “fun” part of this album. I also completely forgot about the fake out ending, which seems completely pointless if you ask me.

Oh hell yeah, Hard to Beat. Hard to Beat was the first Hard-Fi song I heard, thanks to Spotify recommendations, and the only one I’ve heard in public. It’s cleanly their biggest song, and for good reason, because this song is a fucking jam. Lyrically, it’s nothing special, being a fairly straightforward club love song, but it’s just got this really solid vocal performance, especially with the phenomenal prechorus and chorus, as well as this really fun, if basic, guitar line that’s all brought together by this fuzzy bass that I honestly adore. It’s all just great to sing and groove along to, and I can’t even write all of this without being completely lost in it. Seriously, go listen to this song, holy shit. One of the best rock songs that decade. It’s a song with a prophetic title, however, as the remainder of the album is left with an especially tough act to follow.

We enter a 4-song long period here of tracks that didn’t leave enough of an impact on me such that I basically didn’t know any of them until I relistened to write this post. Unnecessary Trouble is another decent rock song, following in the vein of Gotta Reason, but with added “Whoa-oh-ohs” for some spice. Move on Now is a bit of a turn, as it’s a singer + piano song rather than being a rock song. While being incredibly melancholy (as the genre tends to), it still isn’t anything special- the vocal performance is passable, and the piano line is pretty generic. I do like the little bit of bridge that comes in with a little bit of trumpet and a drum machine, and how quiet the vocals get at the very end.

Better Do Better lands as a better Tied Up Too Tight, with this low, relatively quiet build that makes sure not to overstay its welcome before bursting out into the chorus with the vocals SUDDENLY SHOUTING and then chilling out again but now the rest of the song is amped up. It does have a bit of spice for itself with the bridge, which is a little funkier than anything else on the album. The ninth track, Feltham is Singing Out, is basically fine, though the mix isn’t great as far as I can tell- the vocals in the verses are a little muddied in the guitar line. It is a touch harder a song than anything else on the album- the chorus instrumental reminds me vaguely of The Cranberries’ Zombie, but a good bit higher pitched and sped up. Actually, it’s nothing like Zombie, but it has a similar guitar tone if you know what I mean?

At this point I’m basically living for Living for The Weekend. I just love the intro, with this slowly rising synth and this sudden, stuttered percussion that sadly doesn’t continue into the rest of the track. The feel of the song well conveys that feeling of finally being able to take a load off and party after a long week of work, with a vocal performance that sounds vaguely weary, but still relieved and excited. I also love that the track ends on a fade-out with the lyrics “You and I, going out tonight” repeated, as it sort of suggests in some way that that story continues, though hopefully not directly into the last song.

Stars of CCTV’s self-titled finale is another odd one out, being entirely acoustic, and we’re well and truly back to melancholy here. Stars of CCTV referring to the celebrity of the criminal, with the fame and recognition that comes from a wanted poster or your face on the news. The sense of desperation lingers again in this song, like the infamy is what this person lives for, but they almost hate themselves for it. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but hey this is an opinion blog, right. Anyway, the music. Outside of the surprisingly varied vocals the song has not a massive amount to offer, though I really like the playful piano in the bridge, as well as the little claps bringing it all together. It is honestly one of the better songs on the album, and nicely bookends the album with Cash Machine.

Overall Stars of CCTV is a solid album, despite its fair number of forgettable tracks. The lows aren’t especially low, and the highs range from great to fantastic. If you’ve gotten this far without listening to it then I’d recommend fetching your streaming service of choice and giving it 45 minutes of your time.

The witch at the register rolled her eyes, gesturing to the large ‘Cash Only’ sign in block letters that was affixed to the counter.

Klaus debated killing her for a brief moment but pushed the idea aside as the witch eyed him warily, clearly following his train of thought. The Bennett line of witches had almost died out at this point, and it would be a shame in the long-run to wipe out a powerful coven because of the minor inconvenience of finding an ATM.

“Would it be too much of a bother to hold the sword at the counter for me while I get cash?” he asked pleasantly, though he knew the witch would understand that it wasn’t a question.

“Sure,” she said, taking the sword off the counter and setting it out of view. “We hold items for two hours before they go back on display.”

“I understand, but I think you’ll find you can make an exception for me should I get unexpextedly held up.”

The witch’s eyes narrowed. “Nope. Exceptions are against the policy.”

“Well, I’m afraid you’ll have to ignore the policy won’t you? You know what happens to people who disappoint me, I’m sure.”

She swallowed, her eyee widening slightly. “I’ll see what I can do,” she said slowly.

“Knew you’d see it my way, love.”

His phone rang as he walked out of the shop, and he inwardly groaned when he saw that it was Elijah, answering the phone despite his reservations.

“Yes, brother?”

“Did you retrieve the sword, Niklaus?”

“Not yet.”

“Why not?”

“Patience is a virtue, dear brother. I promise I’ll follow through on my end of the bargain. I assume you have the girl?”

“Indeed. She believes she’s gone for a weekend getaway and is nonethewiser to her fate.”

“Excellent.”

“When should I expect you for the exchange?”

“Why would I ruin the surprise?” Klaus asked innocently. “Now, I’ve arrived at my destination and I’m afraid I must take my leave.”

He hung up without waiting for Elijah’s response, walking through the doors of the convenience store down the street from the Bennett Witch’s store.

He walked up to the ATM and reached into his jacket pocket for his wallet, frowning when he only found empty space. He checked the other pocket (empty) before patting his jeans down, the realization that he, a 1012 year old hybrid, had misplaced his wallet like a human hitting him after the third double-check.

“Looking for this?”

Klaus growled, whirling around to see a leggy blonde in denim shorts and a floral blouse that clung to her in all the right places who was holding his wallet in her hand.

He reached out to take it, but she darted out of his reach. “I guess you are looking for this.”

“I’d give that back if I were you, sweetheart.”

“Or what?” she asked, and whe he blinked she was gone, though he heard her giggle from behind him and whirled around to face her.

He bristled. “You’ll die. You’re clearly supernatural. Don’t you know who I am?”

“Um, obviously. Klaus Mikaelson. Wolf-vamp hybrid. Super evil, but also not that special.”

He growled low in his throat, a small part that he ruthlessly pushed aside a bit pleased when he breathed in sharply, and the faint scent of her arousal floated through the air. She gathered herself quickly though, and when he tried to vamp speed to her, he only heard the echo of her giggle as she disappeared, reappearing on the other side of the room.

In his 1012 years of life, he had encountered a lot of creatures and beings one might call mythical if they lacked an open mind, but this…this was a first.

“What are you?” he asked before he could stop himself.

“What do you mean?” she asked with an infuriatingly mocking smile. “I’m just a normal pickpocket. Girl’s gotta make a living.”

“Somehow I doubt that,” he said dryly.

She huffed. “Fine. I’m a leprochaun.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Beg pardon?”

“A leprochaun,” she repeated, looking at him like he was an idiot. “You know, like, gold at the end of the rainbow kind of thing?”

“I know what a leprochaun is, sweetheart.”

“Well clearly you don’t, or you wouldn’t have asked.”

He had to at least inwardly concede the point. “I simply didn’t know leprochauns could be….” he trailed off, for some reason not wanting to offend her. It was odd, since he normally didn’t give a single fuck what anyone else thought of him (unless he was trying to make them think a certain way), but, though he couldn’t quite put his finger on why, he found himself wanting to get to know her a bit better.

She looked at him for a few seconds, clearly waiting for him to finish before rolling her eyes. “Women?” she guessed, raising an eyebrow.

“Well that, among other things. No little green vest, blonde rather than redhead, you seem relatively sober other than your clear death wish considering you’re inexplicable inclination to provoke me—“

“Um, first of all, that’s super offensive, both to Irish people and leprochauns,” she said irritably, her hands on her hips. “People made us into charicatures because they’re xenophobic assholes. You should know that, considering you’re super old and everything.”

“Well, then educate me,” he said dryly. “What are actual leprochauns like, then?”

“That’s totally not my job. Google it! You have a phone—“ she began before giving him a wicked grin and pulling his phone out of her pocket. “Or…maybe you don’t.”

“So leprochauns are thieves,” he said, and he could tell that she was surprised by how calm he was. Objects were replaceable, but knowledge of magic that he hadn’t encountered was much more important. She also looked more than a little offended, and he had a feeling that despite his curiosity, this could only go downhill.

“I mean, I choose to identify as a trickster,” she said slowly. “And no, not all leprochauns are tricksters. We just all have the same kind of magic. Some people use it for good, and some people, like me, use it for fun.”

“What kind of magic?” he pressed, taking a step toward her, and she stepped back just as quickly, glaring at him.

“Personal space, buddy!”

“Says the one who stuck her hand into my back pocket,” he pointed out, and she shrugged.

“You shouldn’t have been so distracted. Anyway, our magic is secret. Why do you think you’ve never met one of us?”

“Because you most likely all got arrested for stealing.”

“Again, so offensive! Think more fairy-slash-genie-slash-treasure hunter.”

She really was beautiful when she was angry.

“Sorry, sweetheart.”

“Don’t call me sweetheart.”

“What do you prefer, then?”

She narrowed her eyes. “My name’s a secret.”

“Why?”

“Well… that’s how you get wishes.”

“Wishes?” he asked, his eyebrows raising. “I get wishes if I learn your name?”

“Yeah,” she said slowly, clearly realizing she’d revealed too much. “Which you won’t.”

He grinned slowly. “Is that a challenge I’m hearing?”

“Nope!” she said hurriedly, backing away. “Anyway, thanks for the AmEx. Bye!”

She then disappeared into thin air.
