Cog in the machine au
Character hc
Orion
Didn't have many friend among the miners as he kept getting into trouble and demoted or moved to toegr departments.
Isn't the best at making friends as he is used to being moved from one place to the other
His last job in the upper levels was with Elita group but darkwing threw him to level 50 quickly after.... No one but Elita noticed that he was missing.
It's down there that he meets his best(only) friend, B-127, or bee as he likes to call him.
Orion is slightly smaller and weaker due to having alredy little energon down in lv50 and also having to share it with me
He still sneaks out and onto the archives pretty often. But now he does it with company as bee refuses to let him go him alone
Others don't reconize them as Orion and bee but those two crazy bots that run around some times.
He always tries to give what energon he saves up to bee out of worry for the trouble he brings him on
B-127
Was so so happy when he met Orion. New coworker (best friend forever and ever) let's go! Calls him pax because he couldn't think of a better nickname
Elita
Super excited to go out with pax to the archive and help out everyone find the matrix. That way they'll never go hungry again and they can go out like all the other cogless!
He and Orion are 100% the younger brother older brother duo. He idolizes Orion
While Steve and company were great, Orion is now his BFF, so sadly the guys need to be moved out since Orion need a place to sleep and plan their search to for the matrix
Still very chatty and Orion encourages this. They are eachothers only constant after having such an unstable life so they cling a bit (a lot)
He has told Orion all of his high guard facts. Orion now looks for stickers and info on the high guard as b-127 is a huge fan
I headcanon him as a starscream fan
With the space they have at their table to sleep Orion made mini versions of starscream and his trines alt modes and hung them on the ceiling for them to see
Tries to give what energon he saves to orion in turn
She was the last boss Orion had before darkwing demoted him to lv50
She was so worried when she couldn't find that new guy and no one knew where he was
She finally asked megatron what had happened and after much pressing she was told they where in lv50.... She was horrified and worried but there was nothing she could do
Since she isn't Orion's boss for long she isn't as harsh on his behavior, but she is very worried for them. (giving Elita my eldest daughter syndrome)
She often sends down energon and medical supplies for them.
They aren't her responsability or problem.... But someone has to look after them. Primus knows they don't do that themselves
Without Orion or d-16 a cavein killed jazz.... Elita blames herself and can't even manage to defend herself when darkwing fires her.
She failed jazz, she failed her team, and she feels she's constantly failing Orion and bee. At least in waste management there's no one she can let down and she has more chances to see her two clowns
She saw them on the race and nearly threw herself in the track to drag them out.
"what sort of idiot cogless would run on the race? ..... SCRAP THSOE ARE MY IDIOTS!!"
Ran to the infirmary thinking the worst had happened as she didn't stick around to see the race and stumbled onto megatron and darkwing who had been hurt by Orion and B-127 in the race
Megatron
Another mine supervisor with darkwing
While not as cruel he is much more strict
Couldn't tolerate Orion and his disregard for megatrons perfect plan to a mediocre yet simple and stable life
He has few friends. As in.... None
He is too dedicated to his job and has no time for a social life. So anything that upsets the balance of this causes him bouts of anger.
Still a big megatronus prime fan and sentinel idolizer with darkwing.
His relationship with darkwing is somewhat of a asshole idler brother, loser little brother. Megatron desperetly craves aprobal and beloved he can earn that by working his aft off.
Megatron tries to impress him, as he is his superior and a many times racer of the iacon 5000. But darkwing at best mocks him and plays it off as a 'joke' this leading to megatron being a bystander to his abuse of the cogless
After the iacon 5000 he had stopped just before he could hit B-127 graveously, and it caused both him and darkwing to not cross the finish line
Darkwing was pissed and fired him. Put him as supervisor of waste management.
He subconsciously begins to crack. All that he worked for just went down the drain because he didn't hit one meager cogless bot....

Economics and Logistics
Coin of the Realm: The nation of Veck (and by extension the Barony of Barry) uses a currency colloquially referred to as a Buck, a silver disk roughly the diameter of the average thumbnail. The official name is the Royal Mark, but the nickname "buck" won out because one side prominently features a stag, that animal being a focal point in the royal family's coat of arms. The Hafton Princes also mint silver coinage with their own heraldic emblems, and that might have helped the "buck" terminology gain traction, to make it clear what nation's currency will be accepted at any given business. (The coins are similar in size and shape, and have been similarly devalued with other metals over time, so in practice they are used interchangeably throughout the archipelago.)
You Can Take That To The Bank: Carrying around a large bag of silver has numerous logistical problems when it comes to making large purchases, so of course there are various means by which different individuals and organizations get around it. Banks offer written checks (or cheques, as the empire on the mainland spells them for some reason) against the recorded balances of account holders, businesses establish records of credit and debit, and there are plenty of traders and merchants who speculate on physical goods that might fetch a better price than what they paid for them. All of this creates paper trails of one sort or another, which the Hero can use to try to figure out the Villains' plans - but the Villains can also do the same to keep track of the Hero and their Party. Buying cash is not that anonymous when every trader remembers the three dangerous looking people carrying fistfuls of silver. (Dexter points this out early on in his Mission Planning tutorial and also lampshades how hard it is for an individual to launder money compared to a larger organization.)
Can't Make Bricks Without Clay: In order to oppose the machinations of at least two aspiring dictators, the Hero and whoever they recruit will need more than just a sense of righteous indignation and catchy theme song. Party members will need food, medicine, equipment maintenance and upgrades, ammunition for various types of weapons, crafting components, and all manner of unusual context specific items needed for one quest or another. All of this runs into questions of money. Establishing and upgrading safehouses often requires an outlay of funds if the safehouse is not acquired through some sort of quest or mission, and any damage will need to be repaired as well. All of this means that saving the world can be a costly proposition, and some of the missions and side-quests the Hero will need to undertake will be purely for financial gain and stability; Party members without food, medical care, or a safe place to sleep can't fight as effectively, recover from injuries, or use their full range of skills.
New Money Versus Old Money: As part of their attempts to leverage control over occupied territory, both Silas Van Der Horne and Ben Waters start mandating the use of their own currency instruments and financial networks in any territory they manage to occupy. This means the only businesses in occupied territory that will still take bucks will be Pawn Shops, which do not have the same range of inventory. Complicating things further, traders from across the sea or the mainland will sometimes try to spend the money of their homeland rather than finding somebody who can do a currency exchange, and a few of those traders are either hamstrung by port regulations or paranoid about being cheated and will ONLY accept payment for their goods or services in the forms they recognize. (At least one quest requires Imperial Crowns from the Siderial Empire.)

Okay, I literally cannot focus on my project because of these THOUGHTS so I hope blurting everything out here helps me get things off my mind (this happens every time I want to do a thing in real life).
To be fair I have focused on some characters more than others in relation to a possible Welcome Home X Splatoon AU so not all characters will be covered here and now. Things may be further expanded on in the future as I stew on these AU ideas a little more and I may even have art to showcase in relation to it (most likely one-off doodles but who knows)
Wally Darling-An Octoling draftsperson, engineer, and musician once dedicated to the Shogun's cause, when exposed to a heavenly melody only a year ago he awoke to the reality of his society and wanted an out. When presented with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to escape, he took it along with an unlikely friend in H.O.M.E. despite the countless dangers and difficulties the two would face from abandoning their old way of life. With the help of a kind Cuttling, Julie, he is working to slowly integrate himself into the society he was not only taught to hate but also constantly worked to sabotage. Wally is experienced with all forms of turf-war weapons (or at least their Octarian counterparts) but has a special love for the Brushes class with his favorites being the classic Inkbrush and Octobrush.
Home-Former great octo weapon from the Great Turf War, the H.O.M.E. device is a living breathing fortress of Octarian technology meant to move with battalions and provide them all necessities on the battlefield, most notably a fully stocked medical ward and M.A.S.H. unit. Having seen so much pointless death and destruction in his long lifetime, when presented the opportunity to escape Octo Valley in search of new beginnings, H.O.M.E. did not hesitate in fleeing with Wally despite the dangers and difficulties this presented for the both of them. Home does not use a turf-war weapon as he is the weapon itself
Julie Joyful- This Cuttleling isn't just an up-and-coming idol and newscaster, but the secret Agent 4 of her local Squidbeak Splatoon. Far more soft-hearted than her sisters, this translator of the Splatoon had a chance encounter with an unlikely friend and upon finding not everything she thought was as it was, took it upon herself to help this little Octoling learn and join Inkling Society. Of course, balancing her little pet-project, idol work, news casting, and secret identity with a growing relationship was not something she intended to take on but life wouldn't be as fun if it were not a challenge to be won. Julie has some experience with all manner of turf war weapons but she far prefers the fast-paced action of the slosher class and wiper class.
Sally Starlet-Rising star of her local neighborhood, this Inkling has big dreams, bigger plans, and even bigger potential. When she isn't co-hosting on her local news station, recording music and music videos for her risings career, and choreographing dances for both her and Julie's future releases this Cepholokid is showcasing her talent in the ranked modes of Rainmaker and Clam Blitz. While Sally showcases quite the talented actress she is also talented in spotting the acts of others--though she knows her co-anchor is not being entirely forthcoming about why she is always too busy to throw in some rounds of terf or consistently make it to practice on time she always manages to loose track of the Cuttlekid when trying to investigate. Compared to Julie's interest in the wiper class, Sally prefers to stick with the short-mid range shooters not only to make the ordinary extraordinary in her use but also to cover her closest friend when in the midst of battle.
Howdy Pillar-Manager of all the shops, this abnormally large sea slug is a member of the Sacoproteus species. Knowledgeable of all things fresh, this busy bee of a business owner cares deeply for his community and employees, always ensuring they are not overworked and are properly rested. Whenever he feels his employees need a break he can be found manning the shop for a few days or weeks and occasionally helping those less fresh learn the skills of climbing the ranks and finding their style. He has a special spot in his heart for those especially naive in the subject from his own experience teaching his many, many siblings how they too could become as fresh as him in his youth.
Barnaby B Beagle-How does a dogfish and an inkling find a common interest enough to raise a child? Barnaby couldn't say but his parents sure could (not that he knows them well enough to ask them). An odd find in his home city, Barnaby is the one and only Sharkling noted for miles around for his great humor and greater appetite. Originally born in a smaller town, his adoptive mother moved to their new home later in life to protect their son from those who were frightened by him. The city was far more accepting, and through his sense of humor he was able to nail down a job working for Howdy allowing him to not only help his mother fund their move but also get to know the area better. Barnaby is the first of the town Wally meets other than Julie and the two are quick to bond. Not very interested in Turf War or Ranked Modes when there is so much else to do as a non-squid kid, Barnaby does not have a preference for any turf weapon but is skilled when it comes to using rollers and splatlings.
I would have drawn all of this out, but firstly I am in the midst of project Ash Wednesday (the potential name of my future furby child) and secondly, I am struggling with just wanting to draw/like what I draw. With how consumed my brain has been about this I really hope I can get over my drawing hang-up soon so I actually can illustrate all my little thoughts in a cohesive way and maybe tell a story with this (I've always wanted to do that but have never been able to figure out how to do comics or draw things in relation to them)

How I spent my 2023 Summer Solstice celebration
As expected, my plans for celebrating midsummer didn't pan out as I thought they might. But that doesn't mean that I didn't have a good summer solstice.
I'm technically still celebrating, but I have to balance it with a substantial to-do list over the next 3 days. Sooooo ... business as usual. 😉
On a slightly serious note, part of my physical recovery journey has been to learn to let go and let things flow as they may. So if my plans don't develop as I hoped, I've learned that they will develop at a pace that is meant for me. #slowliving
Anyway, back to what I got up to for June 21st:
Tumblr media
Now to be fair, this photo was from Tuesday, when I made honey cakes for the holiday. The cakes didn't turn out as sweet as I would've liked, but it was still nice to take a moment and bake something from scratch.
So I made the honey cakes the day before, which left my schedule open a bit for Wednesday morning. With that in mind, I was lucky enough to catch the sunrise on the East Coast at 5:25am. And it was glorious! Seriously, my photos don't do it any justice.
After I finished oohing and aahing, I took my butt back to bed since I'm still on short-term medical leave and I didn't have to go into work this week.
That extra hour or two of sleep coupled with the hour or so of reading fanfiction (it was Leverage fanfic, in case you were wondering), gave me a wonderfully even tempered morning that I really appreciated. Then, it was off to getting ready for the day, chatting with my mom on the phone, and preparing for a work-related Zoom call.
Before my call, I managed to have just enough time to cook a mushroom omelette to pair with my toast and morning tea. After the call, I gave myself the space to sit down, meditate, read from the Tao, and do an annual Summer Solstice tarot reading. I thought the messaging was quite honest.
Tumblr media
Here's what it told me:
Tumblr media
What should I leave in the darkness with this solstice? 7 of Wands
What new beginning is waiting for me this summer? Page of Cups
What can I find joy in this season? 4 of Cups
What is the general theme of this season for me? The Hermit
How can I celebrate and enjoy this solstice? Temperance
A message from my guides and mother earth. 7 of Cups
Afterwards, I did a little housecleaning and took care of a few bills, because getting my finances and house more in order were a part of my new year's resolutions.
Then came lunch ...
It was nothing fancy, but I liked it and it was homemade.
Tumblr media
I enjoyed a fresh spinach salad with tomatoes and mushrooms, pasta with basil and diced tomatoes, a honey cake, and fresh lavender lemonade.
Afterwards, I took a much-needed nap. And followed that up with a walk to the park as the sun was slowly setting.
Then came cooking dinner and watching a much-maligned film while I ate it. The film was Supernova starring James Spader and Angela Bassett. And yes, it was indeed ... not good. Solid cast though. Robert Forster, Lou Diamond Phillips, Wilson Cruz and Robin Tunney. But yeah, it wasn't good. James Spader looked really hot though. And of course, Ms. Bassett looked amazing.
Anyway, for dessert, I also enjoyed another honey cake, but this time I mixed it with chopped pineapple to help sweeten the confection. I think it turned out pretty well. Or at least, it's how I'm going to eat the rest of them going forward.
Tumblr media
The pineapple also corresponds with the colors of the solstice, I think. So yay me for staying on theme. 🤗
By then, I was pretty tired and decided to call it a night. I didn't have the energy to read, dance or paint, but that's ok. As I said before, let it go and let it flow.
And that's how I celebrated the summer solstice. 🌻

Clear Skin Starts Here: Your Guide to Acne Removal Treatment
One of the most prevalent skin disorders that affects people of all ages is acne. It’s more than just a cosmetic concern—acne can impact confidence and quality of life. Thankfully, modern acne removal treatment options offer safe, effective ways to achieve smoother, healthier skin.
What Causes Acne?
Acne develops when hair follicles become blocked by oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Deeper cysts, pustules, whiteheads, or blackheads may arise from this. Factors like hormones, diet, stress, and skincare habits all influence acne severity. Effective acne removal begins with identifying the underlying cause.
Popular Acne Removal Treatment Options
Your skin type, the type of acne you have, and the general health of your skin all play a role in selecting the best acne treatment. Below are several proven treatment options used in dermatology today:
1. Topical Solutions
These include over-the-counter or prescription medications that lower bacteria and oil. Common ingredients like benzoyl peroxide and retinoids help unclog pores and decrease inflammation.
2. Oral Medications
Dermatologists may suggest isotretinoin, hormonal therapies, or oral antibiotics for moderate to severe acne. These medications target internal factors contributing to breakouts.
3. Laser and Light Therapy
Non-invasive therapies such as blue light or intense pulsed light (IPL) target acne-causing bacteria and help reduce redness. These are ideal for patients seeking long-term improvement without medication.
4. Chemical Peels
Chemical solutions are used to exfoliate the top layers of skin, removing dead cells and promoting new skin growth. This can improve active acne and reduce post-acne scarring.
5. Microneedling with RF
Microneedling paired with radiofrequency energy can stimulate collagen, reduce scars, and minimize pore size—making it a powerful option in comprehensive acne removal treatment plans.
Why Personalized Acne Treatment Matters
No two skin types are exactly alike. That’s why a customized acne removal approach yields better results. Factors like skin sensitivity, acne history, and lifestyle should be considered when planning treatments. Clinics such as Skinpeccable understand the importance of tailored care and offer advanced solutions for individuals with different skin needs.
Everyday Tips to Support Your Acne Treatment
While clinical treatments are highly effective, your daily routine plays an important role in managing acne. Here are a few habits that support clearer skin:
Use a mild cleanser to wash your face twice a day.
Avoid popping pimples to prevent scarring
To preserve your skin barrier, apply sunscreen every day.
Eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins and low in processed sugars
Stay hydrated and get enough sleep
The Road to Clearer Skin Starts Today
Acne can be stubborn, but it’s also treatable with the right strategy. Whether you’re struggling with occasional breakouts or long-term acne, effective acne treatment is available to help restore your skin and confidence. Professional providers like Skinpeccable specialize in a wide range of acne removal treatments, helping clients find long-term solutions through science-backed dermatology.

Chapter 4 - Shopping
TW: Discussion of past trauma, discussion of death.
Disclaimer: I am aware this is incredibly unrealistic. Keep in mind, this is 700 years in the future. Supply and demand has hopefully made certain products much cheaper than modern day, and this is fantasy.
Sorry it took so long to get this out. I’ve been super busy.
The last couple days of the transformation had their ups and downs, to say the least.
While not as painful or traumatic as the beginning, Jojo was beginning to become more aware of the changes. Her new ear position meant that she'd no longer be able to wear noise cancelling headphones, she realized, which made her nervous for when she would eventually leave the house. She had also not taken her regular medications for quite some time now, and was suffering quite a bit from nerve pain and sensitivity from her chronic conditions. Ajay promised she was working on getting her medications back on track.
She also struggled to hold still, feeling the need to move, but also feeling exhausted. This was difficult for Mary to manage, especially with Jojo feeling the need to chew and scratch at anything she got her hands on, and Mary not being able to leave the apartment to possibly get something to offer some relief.
Diaper changes were another thing. For Jojo, they were incredibly uncomfortable, both physically and emotionally. Physically, since she was still in pain, and her tail was still very sensitive. It also still hadn't quite poofed out yet. Emotionally, since she was an adult, and didn't like not being in control of her body, more than she usually felt.
Mary found herself doing a lot of mothering during those last few days. She hated having to tell Jojo that she couldn't do so many things, but she knew it was for safety. But, there was some sweet. She found a very cuddly girl in all the frustration, who just wanted to be held, once she'd tired herself out with scratching pillows and chewing on silicone straws... And crying. There was a lot of crying. However, Jojo significantly improved once Ajay got her back onto most of her old medications, after deeming which ones were still necessary and safe after the changes.
It was 4 days after the transformation had fully completed, and 3 days since Jojo had gotten back onto the proper medications. Mary decided that tomorrow, it was about time to get Jojo some things of her own, especially since they needed to return to the lab soon. So, Mary set the table for the two, before setting off to find Jojo. When she found her, she couldn't help but laugh.
Currently, the girl was very much embracing her dog-ness, having been noted as a golden retriever canine. She was standing on her bed, with her arms folded on the windowsill, watching the trains go by, her tail wagging the whole time. Mary shook her head.
"What are you doin', darlin'?" Mary asked, amused.
"Watching the pretty lights go past. Your trains are so quiet," Jojo explained. "I like trains."
Mary nodded, tilting her head a bit.
"Were your trains not quiet?" Mary asked.
"No! They were so loud! I loved riding trains, and trains in general, but I hated how loud they were," Jojo explained. Mary nodded. Jojo looked down. "Everything's always so loud..."
Mary nodded sadly, thinking to the charm in her pocket, something she planned to give Jojo tonight as a surprised.
"Come on down from there, love. It's time to eat," Mary explained, watching to make sure the girl didn't fall, and stepping in to catch her when she inevitably did. Mary had learned over the past week that Jojo simply didn't have good balance. It was a fact. If there was a way to fall, she would. When looking at her photos, she'd noticed that Jojo had used a cane before to assist, and planned to get her one as soon as possible, but it was difficult to do so without bringing Jojo with her.
Mary set Jojo on her feet. Jojo laughed, a little bashful at her clumsiness.
"Sorry," Jojo said, flapping her hands in front of her.
"Dinnae worry about it, dearie. No more climbing the bed, though," Mary said lightheartedly. The two walked back out to the dining room, before sitting down at the dining table. As usual, Jojo struggled to pick up her asparagus with a fork, and just as much with her fingers, and had a clear preference for her mashed potatoes, which she could eat with a spoon. It isn't that she doesn't like asparagus, she actually loves asparagus. It's just hard to pick up.
"There's something we need to do tomorrow," Mary began, as they were finishing their food. Jojo looked nervous, wiping her hands on her napkin, before looking at the light above Mary's head. Mary knew she had Jojo's attention. "We need to get you some things of your own."
Jojo looked confused. "But, I haven't got any money." Mary laughed a bit.
"Silly lass, I'm payin'," Mary explained.
"But, you can't- It's expensive-" Jojo stammered.
"Dearie, I wouldn't have offered if I didn't mean it. Plus, as your current guardian, it's my job. Didn't your aunt and uncle take you shopping?" Mary asked.
"T-They did," Jojo said, still nervous.
"Don't worry about it, love," Mary soothed. "There are things you need, that's alright."
Jojo nodded, still looking down.
"Speaking of things you need," Mary continued, pulling the charm from her pocket. It's a lanyard, with a flower-shaped device attached. Jojo tilted her head. "I know you were worried about not being able to wear headphones anymore. This is a magical device that dampens your senses. It works similar to noise cancelling technology."
"Wow- I- How?" Jojo asked, stumbled over her words.
"Exactly how, I'm not quite sure," Mary admitted. "My friend, Tressa, made it. She's a witch."
"Wow! That's so cool. I knew a witch back in my time but they couldn't do anything like that," Jojo explained. Mary chuckled.
"Aye, there's been a lot of advancements in the understanding of magic, such as not needin' to hide it anymore. And well... Those like you don't need to hide anymore," Mary explained. Jojo paused, soaking in the information.
"So... Caninics existed in my time, too?" Jojo asked. Mary nodded.
"Just like how your friend was a witch, there were Caninics as well. There are also Felinics, who are more like cats," Mary explained. Jojo fidgeted with her hands, looking down at the table as she took in the new information. "It's a... complicated history."
"I could guess. Those in my time weren't always very... Accepting," Jojo said softly.
"Aye, I wish I could say that everyone was accepting now," Mary said, "but I can't promise that."
Jojo nodded. "Some things never change, for better and for worse."
"That's one thing that's certainly true," Mary said with a slight laugh. "Here, petal." She gently put the device over Jojo's head, helping her adjust it until it was comfortable. "It does come off the lanyard, so you could keep it in a pocket, but the lanyard could also be handy."
"Thank you," Jojo said softly. She began exploring the flower with her hands. It was mostly made of a strong, silicone-like material. It was a dark bluish-purple, with a dark yellow center. It had an assortment of buttons on one side, and a switch in the center. Jojo carefully flipped the switch, feeling the familiar dampening of noise-cancelling, but without the usual weight of her headphones. It was stronger than usual, or maybe the apartment was just quiet.
"Is it working?" Mary asked. Her voice was clear, but still slightly quieter from the noise-dampening. Jojo nodded, feeling relaxed. Mary smiled, glad that the device was working. "Oh, good! Let me show you a bit of what Tress showed me when she gave me the device."
Through their combined exploration, Jojo discovered that the device had quite a few options. If she had a device to connect to, she could Bluetooth to the device and take sound from the device, similar to her old headphones. She could also adjust the noise cancelling, or turn it off. It also had options to tune into certain sounds, such as someone's voice. It could also give alerts for if someone was trying to get her attention, through the device vibrating. Another feature was for the device to light up if Jojo was in danger or distress. It could also display the time, and Jojo and Mary were quick to set up the feature for an emergency card to display when the button was pressed. Finally, the device could download music if it was Bluetooth connected to a device that had WiFi via file transfer.
"Is... Is everything this high tech these days?" Jojo asked, after figuring out all the things this little device could do. "And... How do I charge it?"
"Actually, this is a relatively low tech device nowadays," Mary explained. "And the charger is magnetic. You set it on the charger, and the icon should pop up."
"I fear to know what a high-tech device is," Jojo said. Mary laughed.
"I cannae help but agree with you there, darlin'," Mary said, helping Jojo plug in the charger. Jojo carefully flipped the switch off, before placing the device on the charger. She saw a green lightning icon pop up on the screen, as well as large text stating that the device was at 58%.
"Can you tell your friend I said thanks so much?" Jojo asked shyly.
"Of course I can, dearie!" Mary cooed, patting Jojo on the head. "I'm sure you'll get to say thank you in person soon enough as well."
"When?" Jojo asked, fidgeting with the seams on her shirt.
"At the lab, I'll be working Mondays through Fridays. However, I'd rather you'd work Mondays through Thursdays, so you don't get too exhausted. I'm going to see if you can possibly stay with Tressa and her wife on Fridays, but I want to see if you all get along, first. I'm certain you will," Mary reassured. Jojo nodded, a little uncertain. "She's going to love you, darlin'. I promise."
"Yeah, I just... New people are hard," Jojo explained. "I know that may seem odd after all this, but it's true. I never know how they'll react to my... Oddities, or how well I'll be able to interact to them. Adapting isn't my strong suit."
"I can understand that. You've been put in a hard position, love. No one blames you for how you might react to things," Mary reassured, understanding. She remembers being put in a similar position when she exited her ship, and found that rather than a few months having passed, she had been gone 87 years from the world. She could only imagine how much more difficult it is to be displaced several years, and immediately have several aspects of your autonomy taken away.
Jojo leaned toward her, unsure about seeking comfort, but clearly needing some. Mary gently hugged her, and Jojo hugged her, burying her face in the soft fabric of Mary's sweater.
"You'll be alright, love. Tomorrow, I'll wake you up for breakfast, and then we'll head to the shops. We'll have lunch around noon, and dinner after we finish shopping. I'll bring snacks for when we need, and we can take a break whenever you need to," Mary explained. "Would you like to help me create a list?"
"Y-Yeah," Jojo said, nodding into Mary's shoulder. Mary smiled down at her, patting her back before releasing her from the hug. She grabbed her phone, setting the projected screen large enough for both of them to view. Jojo blinked, surprised, as she took a seat.
"I suppose your phones didn't do that, either?" Mary inquired, pulling up a compacted keyboard, which seemed to project itself onto the table. Jojo touched it, finding that it was *solid.* She also touched the screen, finding it also solid.
"N-No... It was a little device that stayed the same shape and size all the time," Jojo explained, extremely perplexed by the new tech. Mary smiled at her.
"Hololight," Mary explained. "It was created a couple hundred years ago. It's like a... Hard light."
"So... The phone is more like a programmed projector?" Jojo asked.
"Yes, essentially," Mary explained. The two began working on the list, Mary insisting on certain products, even if Jojo was a little uncertain. By the end, they had a good list of what Jojo would need, and a few more luxury items that Mary insisted upon for her.
"You need to be heading to bed, darlin'," Mary cooed, noticing that Jojo was starting to fall asleep on the table. "You have a big day tomorrow."
Jojo simply hummed, making to stand.
"Do you need a change before you head to bed?" Mary asked, kind and nonjudgmental as always. Jojo paused, blushing. She knows she should've expected the question, as Mary always asked.
"I dunno," she mumbled tiredly, genuinely unable to tell. Mary nodded.
"C'mon, let me get you changed just in case, then. I don't want you getting a rash," Mary cooed softly, gently leading the tired girl to her room. Jojo whined slightly, but didn't protest.
Mary handed Jojo her stuffed lamb, knowing that it helped to have that small comfort during the changes. She helped the girl lay down on the changing pad, making quick work of the change. She was very glad that she ordered a changing table, since it was somewhat difficult getting up and down from the floor multiple times a day for changes, both for her and Jojo.
"There we are, dearie," Mary soothed as she taped on the fresh diaper. Jojo peeked out from behind Lambie, before accepting Mary's help getting up. "Get your teeth brushed and your jammies on. I'll be here when you get back."
Jojo nodded, taking her pajamas into the bathroom. In reality, it was a nightgown that was a bit small for comfort for Mary's taste. For Jojo, it was too big, but that would hopefully be remedied tomorrow. Mary sanitized the changing mat, before putting it and the other changing supplies away. She washed her hands in the kitchen, before returning to the room, with a cup of tea for herself, and a lidded cup of water for Jojo, since she'd learned the hard way that Jojo had a tendency to knock over or drop cups.
Jojo came back into the bedroom, and hugged Mary. This had become their routine. Jojo loved routines. It regulated her. Overall, Mary found it sweet. She gently hugged Jojo, before handing her Lambie, and tucking her into bed.
"Do you want a story, love?" Mary asked, a habitual ask from when she had her son. Jojo looked up at her tiredly and smiled.
"We don't have any storybooks," Jojo mumbled.
"Of course I do," Mary chuckled. "Perhaps another night." She carefully handed Jojo her cup with her nightly medications, which she took quickly with a drink of water, before handing the cup back to Mary gratefully. She laid her head on the pillow.
Mary gently stroked her hair, turning off the lamp. It didn't take long for Jojo to fall asleep.
--
Jojo woke up to Mary knocking on the door, before opening it.
"It's time to wake up, dear," Mary cooed quietly. Jojo looked up at her, before sitting up, cringing as her diaper squished. She hated the feeling of a used diaper. Her diapers absorbed quite a bit, but nighttime use tended to push them to their limits. Mary saw her expression and rubbed her shoulder soothingly. "Do you need a change, darlin'?"
Jojo nodded gratefully, and Mary helped her out of bed, quickly going through the changing routine. Jojo always felt relieved when a particularly full diaper was changed due to the discomfort.
"All done, petal," Mary soothed, as the always did, helping Jojo off the mat. "I set your clothes for today on the dresser."
"Thank you," Jojo said quietly, still a bit sleepy. She grabbed her clothing, blushing a bit. "U-Uhm, Mary? There's no... There's no bra."
"Dearie... I never thought of that... You haven't exactly got any erm..." Mary thought for a moment, trying figure out how to phrase it. Jojo went pinker, looking down at her chest.
"My... My boobs are gone," Jojo said, somewhat shocked.
"Yes," Mary said, sighing. "We can get some bras when we're out if that would make you more comfortable."
"N-No! It's fine, I mean- I just- I didn't notice they were... Completely gone," Jojo mumbled.
"I'm sorry, dearie. I didn't know what you looked like before until Ajay gave me the hard drive with your photos, and I just... Never thought about it," Mary explained.
"I mean, I guess I'm glad they're gone? But... It's shocking," Jojo said honestly. Mary smiled.
"I suppose it would be. I'm sorry, there's a lot of changes happenin' lately, hm?" Mary asked. Jojo nodded, laughing despite the situation.
"I-I'm gonna get dressed now," Jojo said, still laughing a bit.
"Please do," Mary said, chuckling a bit.
Jojo quickly got dressed. It was a light blue shirt with a pair of sweatpants. Simple, but still too big. When she finished brushing her teeth, she left the bathroom and headed to the kitchen.
"Hold on, let me help you, dearie," Mary laughed slightly, adjusting and tightening the pants, that just didn't want to stay up. "We'll remedy that today."
Jojo smiled slightly, a pink tinge on her cheeks. "Sorry."
"Not your fault, love," Mary promised. She placed some eggs, sausage, and toast with jam on a plate, and put it in front of Jojo. "Here you are, love."
"Thank you," Jojo said, always trying to be polite. As usual, she ate her sausage first, making her way through her order. Mary noted how she always put her toast on her napkin to avoid getting jam on anything, or getting egg on her toast. Mary also placed a cup of milk in front of Jojo's plate with her medication next to it, before sitting down to eat her own breakfast.
Jojo took her medication, before finishing up her milk, and placing her dishes into the dishwasher. She washed her hands, before taking her flower-shaped device off the lanyard. The placed it around her neck, not powering it on yet.
"What is this called, anyway?" Jojo asked, curious.
"Hmm... Well, the broader category for it is Magic-Assistive Tech, but, your device is unique to you," Mary explained. "What would you like to call it?"
"I... I guess I'd have to think on that for a minute... I used to call my laptop Flippy, so... I'm not the best at names," Jojo explained with a laugh. "Maybe I'll call it Max, since Max kind of sounds like MAT, and that's what you get when you abbreviate Magical-Assistive Tech."
"I'd say that's a good name," Mary agreed. Newt, who Jojo realizes she hasn't seen much of in a bit, beeped in agreement.
"Where's Newt been?" Jojo asked, patting the robot.
"Charging," Mary explained simply. "He charges quite a bit, but he has a very long battery life. The first few days he was on and off the charger. Normally, he spends a day or two on the charger, then can go for about two weeks without a charge."
Newt beeped in agreement.
"Is he... Coming with us?" Jojo asked.
"Och, of course not. Too dangerous," Mary explained. Jojo tilted her head. "You... Don't know that Newt contains a black hole, do you?"
"Well I do now!" Jojo exclaimed. Newt beeped sadly. Jojo patted him anyway. "I still love ya, buddy." The small robot perked up, beeping happily.
"Yeah, it's quite difficult to trigger if you don't know what you're doin', but dangerous in the wrong hands," Mary explained, as though it was the most casual thing in the world to have a robot that also functioned as a black hole.
"Are there a lot of robots that are also black holes?" Jojo asked.
"Nay, just Newt," Mary explained, still in a casual tone. Jojo shrugged.
"I feel like nothing should surprise me anymore," Jojo said, though not angrily.
"I suppose that would be strange to someone who isn't used to it," Mary said, fidgeting with her pen. "Sorry, I didn't think about that."
"It's fine. I think it's neat," Jojo said. "Well, after I got over the fact that I'm petting a black hole container." Mary snorted.
"You're still pettin' him, so it doesn't seem to have stopped ye much," Mary said lightheartedly.
"Well, it didn't kill me the first time," Jojo joked back, a little darkly. Mary looked down. "Sorry, I forget that most people aren't unphased by the prospect of dying."
"I find it slightly concerning that you are," Mary said, more serious than before.
"I just know that there's things worse than death," Jojo said, honestly. "I... I don't understand people who think dying is the worst thing that can happen to them. But, I know they just... Haven't had to deal with pain that doesn't stop. Fearing dying, but fearing *not* dying more."
"You're speaking from experience," Mary said quietly, feeling slightly choked up. Jojo nodded.
"Of course... Why would someone just say that?" Jojo asks, before realizing what she's revealed. "I-I'm sorry. I'm better now, I promise."
"It's not... It's not that," Mary said softly. "I'm sorry you had to go through that in the first place. Whatever caused you to feel that way, to realize that so young, you didn't deserve that."
Jojo felt herself tear up. Mary hugged her tightly, as Jojo hugged back. She wanted to cry, but felt like she couldn't. Her words came out strained when she spoke. "Thank you."
"Of course, dearie," Mary said softly, stroking her hair.
When she finally felt ok, or at least ok enough, she pulled away.
"Are you... Still alright to go today?" Mary asked.
"Yeah, of course. I... When I'm prepared to do something, I can't change plans," Jojo explained. "I'd be worse off if we didn't go."
Mary nodded, taking her arm to lead her. "Come on, then. I'll call down the dropship."
As they walked, Jojo couldn't help but ask. "Do you use a ship to get... Everywhere?"
"Yes and no," Mary explained. "So, along with being a scientist, my research is funded by participation in the Apex Games. They're... A bloodsport, but none of us can really die. The top of us are known as Apex Legends, and we have certain protections. One of those protections, which I find quite a pest myself, is the need to go everywhere via dropship. We're seen as valuable to the Syndicate."
"The world still has messed up systems, gotcha," Jojo replied, taking in the information. Mary chuckled slightly.
"I-I'd never say it myself, but I can't help but agree with ye, lass," Mary replied, as they reached the waiting dock. "Personally, I'm not a fan on the pampering."
"You're one to talk," Jojo said lightheartedly, laughing.
"Aye, you're different. It's my *job* to take care of you," Mary joked, booping Jojo on the nose. "The Syndicate does it because they'd get backlash from the public if they didn't. It's to save face."
Jojo hummed, understanding the serious undertone. "I knew someone like that."
"I wish you didn't," Mary said, before guiding her onto the dropship.
The ride was overall uneventful. The two chatted a bit, and toward the end, Mary helped Jojo calibrate Max so she'd be able to hear Mary's voice, but not everything else.
Mary assisted Jojo off of the dropship.
"Are you ready, love?" Mary asked. Jojo nodded. "First off, we should get you some new clothing. We'll have to find your sizing first."
Mary lead Jojo into a large clothing store, before approaching a woman next to a smaller room.
"Hello, ma'am, how can I help you?" The woman asked.
"Hello, dear. I just got guardianship of my kiddo, here, and I need to find her sizing," Mary explained. Jojo blushed a little at being referred to as a 'kiddo,' but knew that it really wasn't an inaccurate term for her, especially compared to Mary. The woman nodded.
"Of course, follow me this way. Will you be needing any Littles' accommodations?" The woman asked. Jojo tilted her head, confused.
"No thank you, dear," Mary declined politely. They soon reached a room, where the woman took some measurements. Jojo blushed, feeling very self-conscious of her small form, and especially of her diaper, which would likely become apparent with the measuring tape. However, the woman said nothing. By the time they'd finished measurements, Jojo had forgotten her question regarding the woman's statement, and Mary was helping her choose clothing.
Mary noticed that Jojo was very hesitant at first. She also noticed that Jojo was a very slow shopper, since she needed to feel the fabrics, though Mary didn't mind.
Jojo did, however, clearly have a unique style. It showed in what she was immediately drawn to, and Mary remembered the same style from the photos. Somewhat childish, with pastels and bright colors, and graphics of kids' characters. Also modest, not liking for her shoulders to be exposed or for her skirts to be too short. She also loved anything overalls, whether that be short, long, or skirt, but is picky with jeans. She prefers for her bottoms to be black or gray if they aren't overalls or a skirt. She also refuses glitter, lace, ribbons, or any other abrasive textures. Finally, Jojo struggles to tie laces, or button too small of buttons, and prefers large buttons.
After the outfits were paid for, Mary helped Jojo choose an outfit to change into, so her pants weren't constantly falling down. Jojo chose a pair of simple, dark blue overalls and a yellow polo, Jojo's preferred type of shirt. She also chose a pair of long, yellow and white striped socks, since she didn't like no-show socks that always fell into the shoes.
Jojo emerged, her tail wagging low, showing she was a little nervous.
"Aww, you look adorable, petal," Mary cooed. Jojo perked up, her tail wagging faster. "How about we have a snack? I don't want you to get too tired."
"That sounds really good," Jojo said, sounding relieved. Mary lead her to a bench, pulling out the bag of snacks she'd brought for herself and Jojo. She handed Jojo some peanut butter graham crackers.
"Ooo! Peanut butter!" Jojo gasped, excited. "Thank you!"
"Of course, lovie," Mary laughed, pulling out her own apple slices. She handed Jojo a juice box, poking the straw in for her. The two enjoyed their snacks, Jojo especially glad that she had silence due to Max. She remembered how loud malls usually were, and how hard it usually was to function, but the small device was making it so peaceful. She then remembered the question she had for Mary.
"Mary?" Jojo asked, a little hesitant. Mary looked toward her. "Earlier, the person helping us asked if we wanted... Littles accommodations? What does that mean?"
"Oh, they're accommodations for Littles," Mary said. "To make it easier for them and their Caregivers."
"What... What are Littles? And Caregivers?" Jojo asked.
"Oh, right, silly me. Of course you wouldn't know about the Classifications," Mary said, reprimanding herself, shaking her head.
"The... Whats?" Jojo asked.
"Nowadays, we have several different Classifications. They define your lifestyle. Littles have a mindspace that they drop into, that's younger than their chronological age. Caregivers take care of Littles. There are other Classifications too. Pets are similar to Littles, but instead of a different age, they have a different species that they switch to mentally. They have Handlers. There's also Alphas, Betas, and Omegas, who form packs, with the Alpha being the leader, the Beta being the middle-ground, and the Omega being something of a logic-keeper. Neutrals are those who don't have a Classification," Mary explained. "That's... That's it in simple terms."
"Ah..." Jojo thought for a moment, before asking, "What are you classified as?"
"I'm a Caregiver," Mary answered simply.
"Oh, I should've guessed that," Jojo said, laughing a little. "What determines someones Classification?"
"It's biological," Mary said. "There's certain hormones, and certain ways the brain is structured, which makes someone one Classification or another."
"Ok..." Jojo said, taking in all the information. "Do you have a Little."
Mary shook her head sadly. "Nay, I wanted one desperately. Then I had Newton, though he'll grow up and won't be a kiddo anymore... And I certainly can't even think of finding a Little before getting back there, and raisin' my boy."
Jojo nodded sadly. "Is... Is that why you like taking care of me?"
"I... I suppose a little," Mary admitted, a little guilty. Jojo smiled.
"It's ok. I don't mind. It's all new to me," Jojo said. There was another question that Jojo wanted to ask, but she was scared to ask it. *Do I have a Classification? What am I?*
Perhaps she'd ask another time...
"Where are we going next?" Jojo asked, finishing up her juice box.
"We need to get you shoes," Mary said.
"But I have shoes," Jojo said, confused.
"Those are way too big, dearie," Mary explained. "You're tiny."
"Oh, right," Jojo chuckled, blushing.
Finding shoes was always a nightmare for Jojo. Too many choices, people asking how they felt, testing them out... But now, there was technology that just scans your foot and tells you which shoes are best for which environment. Mary helped Jojo sit on a table, and place her naked foot into some kind of scanner. She cringed when she felt the scanner begin scanner, nearly yanking her foot back.
"What's wrong, dearie?" Mary asked, startled by her pained expression.
"Is it supposed to feel like that?!" Jojo asked as the scan finished, and she felt relieved.
"You're not meant to be able to feel it," the man operating the machine said with a shrug.
"Are you alright to do the other foot?" Mary asked, concerned. Jojo nodded, and Mary helped her place her other foot.
"I can feel it in my bones," Jojo said as the scanner did the scan of the other foot.
"I'm sorry dear," Mary cooed, rubbing her back.
"Your feet are very... Unique," the man operating the machine said. "We do have some shoes for you, though."
"What does that even mean?" Jojo asked, as Mary helped her put on her socks.
"It means that red flags popped up on your scan," the man said, somewhat nonchalant. "You may want to speak to your primary care provider. We'll send the results to your Caregiver."
"Damn, I go to a shoe store, and get told I have weird feet," Jojo mumbled. "And she's not my Caregiver."
Mary simply sighed and shook her head, before looking at the screen, trying to ignore the medical flags, and found the shoes that the machine recommended.
"Try these, love," Mary said softly, also annoyed at the unconcerned worker. Jojo placed the shoes on her feet, walking in a circle.
"Oh hey... They actually feel really nice," Jojo said.
"Oh good," Mary sighed, relieved. She quickly paid for the shoes, before cutting the tags.
"I still can't believe he said I have weird feet," Jojo said as they walked out of the store.
"You do fall over a lot," Mary pointed out, joking a little. "Which brings us to the next shop."
Mary lead Jojo into a store full of accessibility supplies.
"Wow, people actually have tools for accessibility nowadays!" Jojo exclaimed. Mary couldn't help but laugh.
"I noticed a couple things in your old photos. You use a cane, yes?" Mary asked. Jojo nodded. Mary pulled her toward a rack full of canes, helping her choose a cane that was the right size and comfortable. They then found the light-sensitivity glasses, which Jojo was very grateful for, since she'd been getting headaches for days due to the bright lights of the modern world.
Mary helped her choose a pair where she could change the amount of tint with a slider, and made sure to get the necessary cleaning supplies and case, as well as a backup pair.
Mary then lead her to the weighted products, and helped her choose a weighted vest and a weighted blanket, knowing how much she was struggling to sleep without it.
Finally, Mary lead Jojo to the fidget toys.
"Please choose some. You keep picking your skin until it bleeds. And everything else," Mary pleaded. Jojo finally nodded. "Good girl. I'm going to get a scratch pad for you. I'll be right next to you."
Jojo picked several fidget toys, remembering what did and did not work for her in the past, and looking for things similar. Mary came back with a scratch pad, and held up several pieces of silicone jewelry.
"Feel this, love," Mary encouraged. Jojo felt through the plastic packaging. "Chewelry. Do you think it's tough enough?"
Jojo nodded. "Thank you, so much."
"Of course, dearie," Mary said, reassuring her once again. "Now, I say it's time we had lunch, after we pay."
Jojo nodded gratefully.
After having lunch, Mary assisted Jojo in picking some soaps, as well as a new toothbrush, since the one Mary had given her was not holding up well to her new, sharper teeth. She also grabbed some extra of the toothpaste and mouthwash that Jojo could stand, and some better flossers for her sharper teeth. She tried to convince Jojo to pick out some patterned diaper, but Jojo was both embarrassed and tired, so Mary picked them out for her. Mary grabbed a thermometer that would work for Jojo, since currently she only had an ear thermometer, which only fit in human ears. She chose a contactless forehead thermometer. She also got some Caninic-friendly medications, for common illnesses such as colds, flus, fevers, and upset stomachs.
"Petal?" She asked Jojo as she was grabbing some first aid supplies and placing them in the cart. Jojo looked up. "Would you like to pick out some fun plasters?"
Jojo perked up and nodded, looking at the fun band-aids and choosing some. She chose a pack with stars and moons, a pack with strawberries, a pack with butterflies, and a pack with ducks, bringing them back to Mary for herr approval.
"Great job, darlin'," Mary praised, putting the band-aids in the cart.
Mary also picked out some pastel-colored sectioned plates, knowing that Jojo had been having some anxiety regarding her food touching since she'd got here. She also grabbed a set of silverware that had pastel silicone grips, hoping that it would assist her in her eating struggles. Finally, she picked up a pack of lidded cups with silicone straws, also in pastel colors, since she only had one lidded cup that she just had to keep reusing for her.
"We have one more aisle to go down, love," Mary reassured Jojo. "I think you'll really like this one."
Jojo tilted her head, following Mary.
"I want to get some games to play together, and I know you keep saying I haven't got any story books," Mary explained. "Can you choose some for me?"
Jojo looked around, trying to find any games that looked familiar. Surprisingly, she was able to find Uno, Sorry, Jenga, and Connect Four. Mary nodded at the selections, picking out storybooks while Jojo was choosing board games.
"Is there anything else that you like to do?" Mary asked.
"I... I like to do puzzles. And color," Jojo said shyly.
"I'd like you to find some puzzles," Mary said kindly. Jojo nodded, looking around.
She found a Hello Kitty puzzle, and immediately felt excited. She then found a pack of Bluey puzzles, a Care Bears puzzle, a pack of Disney puzzles, a pack of Harry Potter puzzles, a pack of My Little Pony puzzles, and a Strawberry Shortcake puzzle.
When she got back to Mary, she couldn't help but notice the big pack of crayons and stack of coloring books. Jojo blushed, placing her puzzles into the cart shyly.
"There we are," Mary said. "Now, you have something to do, aside from watch trains."
Jojo blushed. "Thank you."
"Shhh. I already told you, love," Mary reminded her, ruffling her hair.
As they entered the dropship, deciding that they'd have dinner at home after all the stimulation of the day, Mary lead Jojo to her seat.
"I have one more surprise for you," Mary whispered. "Well, two."
"Oh? Really?" Jojo asked, a little nervous. So much had happened today already. She smiled shyly. Mary pulled a stuffed animal from the backpack that she'd been carrying with her snacks. "It... It can't be."
It was a light yellow rabbit with teal paws, and a rainbow infinity symbol on it's middle. It had avoidant eyes, by design, and teal middles on its ears, with white infinity symbols. It was her autism bunny. Her *Bunny.*
"Bunny," she said softly, pulling the stuffy close. Mary smiled.
"A friend of mine was able to find her," Mary said softly. "Somehow..."
Jojo hugged Mary and Bunny tightly, crying softly. "Thank you."
"I have one more thing," Mary said. "Don't try to deny it. Really, it's for safety."
Mary handed her a small device, which she recognized as a modern phone. Jojo carefully placed it in her pocket, hugging Mary.
"Aww. I know you're so overwhelmed, love. Great job, today. You've done so well," Mary praised, rubbing her back as Jojo buried her face in Mary's arm. Mary was glad that they both had another day before returning to the lab. "Love ya, sweet lass."
"Love you too," Jojo mumbled. Mary wasn't sure if it was an automatic response, but she really, really hoped it wasn't, as she felt her heart squeeze. Was this what it felt like to have a Little?

How Bone Density Correlates with Cardiovascular Aging
When we think about aging, we often focus on bones becoming weaker or the heart getting slower. But did you know there’s a strong link between the two? Recent research suggests that changes in bone density may reflect changes in cardiovascular health, especially as we grow older. It might sound surprising, but the body works in ways where one system often hints at what’s happening in another.
Let’s break it down in a way that’s easy to understand, especially for those keeping an eye on long-term health.
What is Bone Density and Why Does it Matter?
Bone density is basically a measure of how strong and solid your bones are. It tells us how much mineral (mainly calcium) your bones contain. As we age, our bones naturally lose some of that strength, leading to conditions like osteoporosis. This can make people more likely to experience fractures, even from minor falls.
But bone density isn’t just about your skeleton. It's becoming clear that it could also offer clues about how well your heart and blood vessels are doing.
The Overlap Between Bone and Heart Health
Here’s where it gets interesting. Some studies have shown that lower bone density is linked to stiffening of the arteries. This means the blood vessels become less flexible, which makes it harder for the heart to pump blood efficiently. That’s one of the signs of cardiovascular aging.
The reason this happens might be tied to common biological pathways. For example, inflammation, oxidative stress, and calcium metabolism affect both bones and blood vessels. When these processes go out of balance, both systems feel the impact.
It’s also worth noting that many people with osteoporosis are also found to have calcified arteries. That’s when calcium builds up in the blood vessels, causing them to harden. While bones need calcium, arteries definitely don’t.
What the Research Says
One long-term study tracked older adults over several years and found that those with lower bone density also had higher chances of heart disease. Another study showed that postmenopausal women with weakened bones often had markers of poor heart function. These findings aren’t just based on a few people—they’re backed by thousands of health records and medical scans.
So, if you’ve been told to monitor your bone health, it might also be a good time to check your heart as well. In fact, some of the best cardiologist in India are now advising patients, especially women above 50, to look at bone scans as a part of their regular check-ups.
What You Can Do About It
If you're concerned about either your heart or bones, the good news is that many of the same lifestyle choices help both:
Stay active: Regular walking, swimming, or even light weight training can help strengthen bones and improve blood flow.
Eat right: A diet rich in calcium, vitamin D, and lean proteins supports strong bones and healthy arteries.
Limit processed foods: Too much salt, sugar, and trans fats can harm both your bones and your heart.
Avoid smoking and reduce alcohol: These are major risk factors for both heart disease and bone thinning.
Get regular check-ups: Screening for blood pressure, cholesterol, and bone density can help catch issues early.
If you already have a heart condition or osteoporosis, it’s important to follow your treatment plan. Both problems are manageable when caught early. Specialists often work together to create care routines that look after both systems at once.
When to Seek Help
If you’ve experienced frequent fractures, have a family history of heart disease, or are going through menopause, it’s worth having a conversation with your doctor. In cities with strong healthcare infrastructure, like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bhubaneswar, finding the best cardiologist in India isn’t too difficult. Many hospitals are now offering combined screenings that look at both bone health and cardiovascular performance.
Final Thoughts
Aging brings changes, no doubt about it. But what matters most is how we respond to them. Knowing that your bones and heart may be more connected than you once thought is a step toward smarter care. Paying attention to both can lead to better quality of life and fewer health surprises down the line.
So next time you hear about bone density scans, don’t brush it off as just a bone issue. It might be telling you something about your heart too.

Unlock Your Health Potential with Healthify by Anu: Personalized Nutrition and Wellness Coaching

Advanced Heart Care in Bangalore
I was a busy person with balancing work, daily life, and an active lifestyle; heart disease was the last thing I considered. My life was so busy always on the move  that I rarely stopped to even consider my health, other than squeezing in a workout or two here and there. But one night, at the end of a long day, I experienced this overwhelming pressure in my chest. I figured it was stress or acidity, but when dizziness and shortness of breath set in, I realized something was off. It was insisted by a close friend who took us to Sapthagiri Hospital, renowned for its advanced heart care in Bangalore; one of the best decisions we made that would change our lives.
Medical Attention
At the hospital, the emergency team sprang into action. Within moments, they performed tests an EKG, or ECG, and echocardiogram  to see what was going on. When I got to the doctor, they told me I was having a mild heart attack, and I was shocked. As someone who was middle-aged at the time, like many middle-aged people, I had not expected to have heart disease so early in life. The entire crew assured me that I was in good hands and it was the early intervention that was crucial.
Finding the Root Cause
The cardiology specialists advised me that my condition, Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), is an uncommon cause of heart attacks in younger people. That has been triggered by lifestyle stress, genetics and other factors. I didn’t know heart conditions are not always caused by unhealthy habits sometimes it just happens. My doctors were able to determine an amicable treatment plan because of a precise diagnosis at Sapthagiri Hospital.
Non-Surgical Route
Unlike more typical cases that needed stents or surgery, though, my condition could be controlled by medication, lifestyle changes and close monitoring. The hospital’s strategy seemed rooted in protecting my long-term health and avoiding procedures that weren’t necessary. Because the hospital emphasizes individual heart care, I was relieved to realize that I could get better without invasive surgery.
 Recovery Plan
But the process of healing was so much more than medication  it was changing how I lived every day. The rehabilitation program at the hospital helped me to regain confidence in my health. To ensure focused post-treatment care, they structured it as:
Heart-Healthy Meal Plans — Nutritionists guided my meals to help my heart and not feel limited.
Coping wellness — Yoga and guided meditation sessions were my medicine for stress and anxiety management.
Monthly Health Monitoring — Follow-ups made sure my recovery stayed on course with regular heart screenings.
Emotional Support – Early counseling sessions enabled me to come to terms with the emotional ramifications of an unrealistic heart defect.
A Hospital That Cares
Right from then I had a feeling where I was taken good care of at Sapthagiri hospital. The doctors listened, the nurses were never-ending support, and I never felt alone in my journey. They knew what it was a like to have heart disease at a young age and they helped me every step of the way.
And don’t ignore heart health
Heart disease is not just for old people. It can happen with anyone, it saysMy experience at Sapthagiri Hospital taught me that heart disease isn’t just for older people—it can affect anyone. This hospital provides the best advanced heart care in Bangalore for every patient regardless of age. Are major heart disease hospitals that can be relied upon for cardiac health equipped with modern facilities, experienced doctors and patient-centric care.
A Second Chance
We all have a fleeting moment in life that challenges us, and I salute Sapthagiri Hospital, who gave me a new home to live, shaped with the awareness of heart diseases! It taught me that listening to my body is just as important as any other responsibilities in life. If you or a loved one show strange symptoms, don’t dismiss them. This is why you should go to Sapthagiri Hospital,Where expert heart care is an actual difference in saving a life.

Technology and Innovation: Shaping the Future
Technology and innovation are two forces that have been fundamentally reshaping the world as we know it. From the first industrial revolution to the current digital age, these forces have altered how we work, communicate, and live. Today, technology continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, influencing nearly every aspect of society. Innovations in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, quantum computing, and biotechnology are not only pushing the boundaries of what is possible but also laying the foundation for future developments that will revolutionize industries and human lives.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
One of the most transformative innovations of the 21st century is artificial intelligence (AI). AI refers to the ability of machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as speech recognition, decision-making, problem-solving, and learning. Machine learning (ML), a subset of AI, allows systems to learn from data and improve over time without explicit programming.
AI is already making significant strides in multiple industries. In healthcare, AI-powered systems are improving diagnostics, personalizing treatment plans, and enabling faster drug discovery. In the automotive industry, autonomous vehicles are becoming a reality, promising to reduce accidents and transform transportation. Furthermore, AI is enhancing customer experiences, from virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa to personalized shopping recommendations on e-commerce platforms.
The potential of AI is vast, but it also raises ethical concerns regarding privacy, security, and the impact on jobs. As AI continues to evolve, finding a balance between innovation and regulation will be crucial for its successful integration into society.
Blockchain and Decentralization
Blockchain technology, most famously known for underpinning cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, has expanded far beyond digital currencies. Blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that enables secure, transparent, and tamper-resistant record-keeping without the need for a central authority.
One of the most exciting aspects of blockchain is its potential to disrupt traditional industries, particularly in finance, supply chain management, and healthcare. In finance, blockchain enables peer-to-peer transactions, reducing the need for intermediaries such as banks. In supply chains, blockchain can provide end-to-end transparency, making it easier to trace products, prevent fraud, and ensure sustainability. In healthcare, blockchain could revolutionize how patient data is stored and shared, ensuring greater security and privacy.
Blockchain’s decentralized nature also holds the promise of empowering individuals by giving them more control over their data, finances, and digital identities. However, widespread adoption will require overcoming challenges related to scalability, regulatory uncertainty, and energy consumption.
Quantum Computing: The Next Frontier
Quantum computing represents another frontier in technology that could redefine industries. Unlike classical computers that process information in binary form (0s and 1s), quantum computers harness the principles of quantum mechanics to process data in ways that are exponentially more powerful. This allows quantum computers to solve complex problems that would take classical computers millennia to crack.
Quantum computing has the potential to revolutionize fields such as cryptography, materials science, and drug discovery. For example, in cryptography, quantum computers could break current encryption methods, leading to the development of new, more secure systems. In drug discovery, quantum simulations could allow scientists to model molecules and predict their behavior with unparalleled precision, speeding up the creation of new medications.
However, quantum computing is still in its early stages, and widespread, practical applications remain several years away. Nonetheless, companies and governments are investing heavily in quantum research, recognizing its potential to solve problems that are currently beyond our reach.
Biotechnology and the Future of Medicine
Biotechnology is another area where innovation is transforming the world. Advances in genetic engineering, gene editing (such as CRISPR), and personalized medicine are opening up new possibilities for treating diseases and improving human health.
Gene editing technologies like CRISPR allow scientists to make precise alterations to DNA, potentially correcting genetic defects or preventing hereditary diseases. This could lead to groundbreaking treatments for conditions like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and even age-related diseases. Personalized medicine, which tailors treatments to an individual’s genetic makeup, is also on the rise, allowing for more effective and targeted therapies.
While the promise of biotechnology is enormous, it also raises ethical questions about genetic modification and the long-term consequences of altering the human genome. As we continue to make progress in this field, it will be important to ensure that these technologies are used responsibly and ethically.
Conclusion
Technology and innovation are the driving forces behind the transformations we see in the modern world. From AI and blockchain to quantum computing and biotechnology, these innovations are revolutionizing industries, enhancing human capabilities, and opening new frontiers of discovery. However, with great power comes great responsibility. As we push the boundaries of what is possible, it’s essential to address the ethical, social, and environmental implications of these technologies. Only by balancing innovation with thoughtful regulation and ethical consideration can we ensure a future where technology serves the greater good of humanity.

Personal Loan vs. Credit Card: Which is Better?
When faced with a financial need, many people turn to either personal loans or credit cards as solutions to manage expenses. Both options offer flexibility and quick access to funds, but choosing the right one for your situation can be a challenge. Should you opt for a personal loan, which is typically a fixed sum with predictable payments, or a credit card, which allows you to borrow as you go? In this article, we’ll compare the two options to help you make an informed decision about which might be the better choice for your financial needs.
What is a Personal Loan?
A personal loan is a type of unsecured loan that you can use for a variety of purposes, such as consolidating debt, funding a large purchase, or paying for an unexpected expense like a medical emergency. Typically, personal loans come with a fixed interest rate and repayment term, meaning that you’ll pay back the loan in equal installments over a set period, which can range from a few months to several years.
Because personal loans are often unsecured (meaning they don’t require collateral), they usually come with higher interest rates than secured loans like mortgages or auto loans. However, they tend to offer lower rates compared to credit cards, especially if you have good credit.
What is a Credit Card?
A credit card is a revolving line of credit, which means you can borrow money up to a certain limit, pay it back, and borrow again. Credit cards offer flexibility in terms of repayment, as you can choose to pay off the balance in full each month or make minimum payments. However, if you don’t pay off the balance in full, interest is charged on the remaining balance, often at a high rate.
Credit cards often come with benefits such as rewards points, cash back, and perks like travel insurance or purchase protection. However, the interest rates on credit cards can be much higher than those on personal loans, especially if you carry a balance month to month.
Key Differences Between Personal Loans and Credit Cards
1. Interest Rates
One of the biggest differences between personal loans and credit cards is the interest rate. Personal loans generally come with lower interest rates compared to credit cards. The average interest rate for a personal loan is usually lower than that of most credit cards, particularly for borrowers with good or excellent credit.
Credit cards, on the other hand, have high-interest rates, especially if you don’t pay off your balance in full each month. If you carry a balance, credit card interest can quickly accumulate, making it an expensive option for borrowing money.
2. Repayment Terms
Personal loans come with fixed repayment terms, which means you know exactly how much you’ll pay each month for the duration of the loan. This can make budgeting easier and help you stay on track with your repayment plan. If you borrow a personal loan for a large purchase or to consolidate debt, you’ll likely know exactly when you’ll be debt-free, which can provide peace of mind.
Credit cards, in contrast, offer more flexible repayment terms. You can carry a balance from month to month and make minimum payments, but the interest charges can add up over time, and you may find yourself in debt for longer than you intended. If you choose to only make minimum payments, it can take years to pay off the balance, depending on how much you owe.
3. Credit Limits
Credit cards offer a revolving line of credit, which means you can borrow money up to a certain credit limit. Your credit limit depends on your creditworthiness, and if you reach your limit, you won’t be able to borrow more until you pay down the balance. However, credit card limits tend to be lower compared to the amount you could borrow with a personal loan.
With a personal loan, you typically borrow a set amount of money upfront. Once you receive the loan, you can’t borrow more without applying for a new loan. The amount you can borrow depends on factors like your credit score, income, and the lender’s requirements.
4. Uses of the Funds
While both personal loans and credit cards offer flexibility, they’re often used for different purposes. Personal loans are often used for large, one-time expenses like home renovations, debt consolidation, or covering emergency medical bills. Since personal loans offer a lump sum of money, they’re ideal for situations where you need a specific amount of money upfront.
Credit cards, on the other hand, are best for ongoing expenses, smaller purchases, or everyday spending. They offer the flexibility to borrow as needed, which is helpful for those who don’t know exactly how much they will need. Credit cards can also be useful for building or maintaining credit, as long as you manage them responsibly.
Advantages of Personal Loans
Predictable Payments: Personal loans offer fixed monthly payments, which can make budgeting easier. You’ll know exactly when your loan will be paid off, and the fixed payment amount means you don’t have to worry about fluctuating balances.
Lower Interest Rates: For those with good credit, personal loans typically offer lower interest rates than credit cards. This can save you money in interest, particularly if you need to borrow a large sum of money.
Debt Consolidation: Personal loans can be an effective tool for consolidating multiple high-interest debts into one monthly payment, potentially lowering your overall interest costs.
Fixed Loan Amount: When you take out a personal loan, you know exactly how much money you will receive, which is helpful when you have a specific need in mind.
Advantages of Credit Cards
Flexibility: Credit cards offer flexibility, allowing you to borrow as much or as little as you need up to your credit limit. This can be helpful if you don’t know exactly how much money you’ll need for a given expense.
Rewards and Perks: Many credit cards offer rewards points, cash back, or other perks for every dollar spent. If you use your credit card responsibly, you can earn rewards that can offset some of the costs of borrowing.
No Need for Collateral: Like personal loans, credit cards don’t require collateral, which means you don’t have to risk assets like your home or car in order to borrow money.
Building Credit: Using a credit card responsibly can help improve your credit score. If you make timely payments and keep your balance low relative to your credit limit, you can boost your credit score over time.
Which Is Better for You?
The decision between a personal loan and a credit card ultimately depends on your financial situation, needs, and goals. If you need to borrow a specific amount of money for a large, one-time expense and prefer predictable monthly payments, a personal loan may be the better option. Personal loans also tend to offer lower interest rates, which can save you money if you plan on borrowing a significant sum.
On the other hand, if you need ongoing access to credit for smaller purchases or flexibility in borrowing, a credit card might be the right choice. Credit cards can also be beneficial for building or maintaining credit, as long as you’re able to manage the balance responsibly.
If you’re carrying high-interest debt, you may also want to consider using a personal loan to consolidate your credit card debt. This can lower your interest rate and simplify your payments, giving you a clearer path to becoming debt-free.
Conclusion
Both personal loans and credit cards have their pros and cons, and choosing the right option depends on your specific financial needs. Personal loans tend to offer lower interest rates and fixed repayment terms, making them ideal for large expenses or debt consolidation. Credit cards, however, provide flexibility and rewards, making them better for ongoing or smaller purchases.
Before making a decision, take the time to evaluate your financial situation, determine how much you need to borrow, and consider how you want to repay the debt. Whether you choose a personal loan or a credit card, make sure to borrow responsibly and prioritize making timely payments to protect your financial health.
