Team Prime, Part Three
CW: Â Angst, but lighter than previous parts; talk of recovery from serious injuries
Word Count: Â 4330
Other pieces: This is part of a mini-series.
Bob returns to Lemoore a single man.
Thereâs fallout to the cancelled wedding, but not as much as he would have thought.  Jessicaâs dad puts on a blustering performance, threatens Bob, but it rings hollow.  Itâs all for show. Â
It was a mutual decision between Bob and Jessica.  In the end, after their long talk in the parking lot of the bakery, there was no big reason.  No cheating, nothing nefarious.  They were just two people who met very young and who grew up and apart in the intervening years. Â
-----
The next few months, Bob does nothing but work.  He isnât mourning his failed engagement, not precisely, but he does feel unmoored by it.  He met Jessica in the eighth grade and decided early on that sheâd be his wife one day.  Every decision since then has been with a lens to that future life:  married to her, possibly kids.  His future, for the first time, unfolds before him without any firm plans.  Everything feels hazy, unfocused.  Limitless.   Â
Without the goal of marrying Jessica in mind, Bob has nothing to focus on but work. Â
Work, and the regular updates that Eric gives him about you.
*****
If one is going to get annihilated in a head-on collision, itâs preferable that the other driver be a very, very wealthy man.  That way, when your life is irrevocably changed, you can take said wealthy man to civil court for an obscene amount of money.
Your medical bills are handled.  You have enough money in trust to take care of you for the rest of your life. Once you graduate from the studio apartment where you relearned how to live, you find an apartment in San Diego, near Hannah and Eric.
Your recovery has been miraculous, according to your doctors, but itâs hard for you to not focus on what youâve lost.  What remains lost.  What may be lost forever.
Your balance is dicey now.  You spend a weekend staring at your collection of cute shoesâstilettos and sling-backs and platforms, kitten heels and fuck-me pumps.  The designer pairs, you sell them.  The rest you donate.  You replace them with sturdy sneakers, the kind elderly women wear, and you pretend you donât care how stupid you look wearing them.
Your fine motor skills are shaky too.  You struggle with small buttons, zippers.  Your handwriting used to be smooth, but now itâs jagged printing.  You used to do a trademark catâs eye with liquid eyeliner every day, but now you can barely manage even brushing powder across your face. Â
Your speech is better.  If you remember to take a breath and relax, you almost sound like yourself.  But when you get frustratedâwhich is oftenâor when youâre tired or otherwise upset, you start to stutter. Â
Your memory, especially your short-term memory, is precarious.  You learn coping mechanisms.  You learn to use association and vivid imagery to remember new things.  You keep a Moleskine notebook tucked in your pocket, and soon it is filled with questions and things to remember.
The biggest difference, though, is your moods.  Before, you never struggled with depression or anxiety.  You felt sad, sure.  You had acute stress from work.  But you have bleak lows now that youâve never experienced before.
You often fall into black moods now.  All of the things you wanted for your lifeâa partner, maybe kidsâseem impossible.  Dating in California before was a tedious nightmare.  Now?  Now that you have thick scars running across your scalp, just under your hair?  Now that you have similar scars all over your body from where the doctors flayed you alive to put you back together?
Now that you can barely handle makeup, that your clothing is all soft and loose with minimal buttons and zippers?  That your feet are encased in thick-soled old woman shoes to help keep you from teetering over?
It seems impossible.  No one will want you.
You have anxiety now too, great spikes of fear that can push you into panic attacks if you arenât vigilant.  Crowds make you nervous.  You know deep down that no one is noticing you, but you feel eyes crawling over you, taking in your scars, taking in the unsteady way you walk sometimes. Â
Itâs anxiety that prickles when Hannah tells you that she and Eric are planning a little get-together.  Sheâs come over for dinner, and even if itâs just store-bought pasta with store-bought marinara, itâs another achievement for you to cook on your own.
âItâs not an engagement party,â she clarifies as she blows over her bite of pasta before eating it.  She chews, swallows, then casually adds, âwe just thought we have a lot to celebrate and should have a party.â
âThat sounds fun,â you reply.
She glances at you.  âWe thought we might celebrate you.â
The anxiety flares up instantly.  âOh, no.  No, I donât thinkââ
âYouâre a medical miracle,â she cuts in.  âDonât you think the people who love you want to celebrate that youâre still here with us?â
You snort bitterly and shake your head.  âIâm not the person you knew before.â
âBullshit.  You are.â
You shake your head again, and you feel the tears of frustration start to rise.  Hannah always does this; she always steamrolls you, waves off your concerns.  She doesnât understand how different you are nowâor if she does, she refuses to admit it to you.
âI canât work anymore.  I canât date.  It takes me so long to read a book now.  I get headachesââ
âYouâll find work that suits you,â she interrupts again.  âOnce youâre ready.  And you can date.  And who cares how long it takes to read a book?  Do you know how many people donât even read one book a year?  Jesus, stop with the pity party alreadyââ
âItâs not a pity partyââ
âThe hell it isnât!â  She sits back and crosses her arms.  âItâll be a small gathering, okay?  Family and close friends only.â
âI donât like being the center of attention.â  You run the tip of your tongue along the inside of your teeth, a tic you picked up when you search your memories.  âI donât even think I liked it before the crash.â
âYou wonât be, I promise.  Itâll just be a cozy little gathering.  Eric got a new grill, so you already know dad and the rest of the guys will be circled up around that.â
You smile in spite of your roiling unease, in spite of your lingering frustration that no one in your life will admit out loud that youâve been diminished, that your spark has faded.  âOkay,â you tell her.  âI guess that sounds okay.â
*****
Ericâs the one who calls him to invite him to their party, but Hannah is the one who plucks the phone from her fiancĂŠâs hand to chirp in Bobâs ear.
âHey, Bob,â she says with little preamble, then launches into a litany that she must be giving all of the guests.  About you.
âLook, sheâs got scars, obviously.  And she talks a little slower now, and sometimes she stutters.  Sheâs super self-conscious about all of it, and I promised her that everyone would be chill.  So donât stare or talk too much about the accident.â
âI would never make her feel bad,â he replies, a little defensive. Â
âI know.  But I mean sheâs hyper self-conscious, so just treat her like sheâs a boring, regular person, okay?â
âOkay.  Got it.â  He bites his tongue, doesnât add that youâve never been boring or regular to him, and he doubts you are now too.
She thanks him, tells him that theyâre looking forward to seeing him.  Then she hands the phone back to Eric, and the conversation shifts from you to Ericâs new grill, which he describes in such loving detail that Bob has to laugh.
-----
Bob still has buddies in Miramar from when he graduated from Top Gun, so he flies in a day early and stays with them. Â
He finds himself nearly sick to his stomach as he gets ready for the party.  His hands, usually so steady, tremble as he shaves.  He fusses with his hair, redoes the part at least three times, then grimaces at his reflection.  He looks like a complete nerd, but when he musses his hair, he just looks like a nerd whoâs trying too hard.
He knows why heâs so nervous.  Heâs been broken up from Jessica long enough that he can admit it now. He can admit that he had a crush on you; that heâd grown excessively fond of your sweet nature, your sense of humor.Â
And then you nearly died.  You are, according to Hannah, self-conscience about the changes in your life.  Heâs supposed to just treat you like a regular person, but youâve never been just a regular person to him, even when he was engaged and shouldnât have had any feelings for you. Â
Now heâs about to see you again.  Heâs single, and his future stretches out in front of him full of possibilities. He wonders if thereâs even a chance you might be a part of itâboring, regular you.
-----
Thereâs no lead-up to seeing you again:  when Bob walks up to Hannah and Ericâs house, he can hear the muffled din of laughter and music in the backyardâŚbut youâre sitting outside on the steps of the front porch by yourself.
The sight of you pulls him up short, and heâs granted a long moment before you notice him.  He can look his fill.  Itâs late afternoon, golden hour, and the sunlight gilds your features.  Your eyes are shut, and your face is turned to the light like the face of a flower.
He barely notices the thick scar that goes down the line of your neck.  He does notice your short hair, but only because it changes the shape of your face.  It makes your cheekbones stand out more, makes the fragile shape of your skull more obvious. Â
Thatâs what makes his breath catch in his throat, seeing you sitting there, looking so alive.  It slams him back in those terrible days right after the accident, sitting in the hospital with Eric and grimly waiting for the news that you died.Â
Youâre here.  Youâre alive.
You donât see him at first, so Bob has a moment of grace to swipe at his eyes under his glasses.  To pull himself together.
Then you open your eyes and turn your head.  You see him, and you gift him a smile that is tentative.  Guarded.
He realizes it a beat later:Â Â you donât recognize him.
âHello,â you say, and you sound the sameâonly more formal, like youâre enunciating each syllable purposefully.  âEveryone is in the back yard.â
Bob nods, walks up the sidewalk to you.  He swallows hard.  Treat her like a boring, regular person, he reminds himself.
âHiding out here?â he asks.
You lift your shoulders in a shrug.  âI needed a break from everyone.â
âWant some company?â
You shake your head, but the smile stays fixed on your face.  âYou donât have toââ
âI know,â he cuts in.  âBut I kinda hate that moment in a party when you walk in and everyone else is already there, so they all turn and look at you at once.  When all the eyes are on you and youâre suddenly worried that your zipper is down or you have something on your faceâŚ.â  He trails off when you giggleâan honest-to-god giggleâand he smiles down at you.
You pat the space beside you and Bob sits. Â
âI know you, donât I?â you ask after a beat.  âFrom before, I mean.â
âYou do.â
âDonât tell me.  Let me remember on my own.â
âYes, maâam.â Â
The two of you sit quietly, taking in the sounds of the party happening behind you.  Taking in the sinking sun, the wind rustling through the hummingbird sage.  Bobâs heart hammers in his chest, and it feels so loud that you must hear it, he thinks.  You must hear how nervous he is, how tenseâ
âYouâre B-Bob?â you ask, and when you stammer his name, he notices how you duck your head, bite your lip and furrow your brow as if youâre angry at yourself.  But he doesnât address it because you do remember him.  He still exists in your memories. Â
âI am.  You remembered.â
You lift your head and look at him, your expression sad.  âIt takes me a while now.â
âMaybe Iâm not very memorable,â he offers gently.
âNo, you are.â  You say it matter-of-factly, without an ounce of guile or flirting.  âI didnât remember your name right away, but I knew that I knew you from before.â
âHow so?â he asks, but you donât answer himâyou only smile softly, then turn your face back towards the sun.
-----
Hannah is the one that finds the two of you.  She gives Bob a look that he canât quite placeâcool, thoughtfulâbut then she claps her hands briskly and leads both you and him into the backyard.
Itâs just a small party, as promised.  Bob recognizes the other people since most are in the wedding party.  He finds Eric with the other men, clustered around the massive grill, and he falls into their conversation.
For most of the party, he doesnât get to speak to you.  He tries to keep you in his eye line; he watches as you stand along the perimeter, seemingly reluctant to join any conversations.  Hannah draws you in, keeps an arm around your waist to keep you from fleeing.
Bob knows the accident has changed you, but he canât quite see anything beyond the short hair, the handful of visible scars.  Youâre in a cute dress that hits just below the knees, white sneakers.  You have a little notebook that you keep pulling out on the sly, taking notes, and he wonders if itâs a memory aid.
Itâs your behavior that is different.  Before, you were assured.  You walked through the world like you belonged there, but now you seem uncertain.  Your smile seems tentative, like youâre expecting the frivolity and joking to turn on you at any moment.
Halfway through the evening, Hannah comes over to where Bob and Eric are talking. Â
âSorry to interrupt, boys,â she says.  To Eric, she adds, âsheâs getting tired, so Iâm gonna step out and take her home, okay?â
Eric nods, but the offer is out of Bobâs mouth before he can stop it.
âI can take her home,â he blurts out. Â
âOh, no, thatâs fineââ
âYouâre the hostess,â he interjects.  âYou should stay for your own party.â
She gives him that same inscrutable look, and her eyes dart over to Eric for a split-second.  Bob makes a note to ask his friend about it later.
âAre you sure?â she asks.
Bob nods.  âIf sheâs okay with me driving her, Iâm happy to help.â
-----
The car ride starts silent, but when the two of you hit San Diego traffic and crawl to a standstill, you start to talk.
âMy sister said you were engaged,â you say.  âIâm sorry to hear that it ended.â
Heâs touched, and he glances over at where you sit with your hands folded in your lap.  âWe just grew apart.â
âBecause of the military?â
âNot everyone can stick out the long-distance thing.â
You nod.  âMy high school boyfriend and I broke up because of the distance once we went to college.â
Bob perks up; heâs never heard you speak of an ex or anyone youâve dated.  âYeah?â
âWell, it was the distance and the fact that he kept falling dick-first into other girls.â
It startles a laugh out of him, and he feels his cheeks pinking at the casual way you say the word dick.  You chuckle with him, then add, âof all the memories I lost, that asshole still lives in my head.â
He knows that Hannah admonished him to not talk about your altered state or the accident, but it feels like the natural flow of conversation.  So he asks about your memories, your amnesia.  What you still have and what youâve forgotten.  You explain how the long-term stuff stays rooted, and how you remember the months before the accident hazily.  And how Vegas is a blank except for flashes and impressions.
âWhat sort of flashes?â he asks.
You hum, press your head against the back of the seat and stare up at the ceiling of his rental car. âNone of it makes sense.â  You donât add anything else, and he doesnât press you.
Thereâs another moment of quiet as the traffic creeps forward, and then you turn to look at him.  âHannah said you were at the hospital.  Were weâŚfriends?â
âWe were.â  The words come out rough, a croak of sudden emotion.  âI helped you with some of the wedding planning.â
âOof.  Sorry about that.  I remember the giant three-ringed binder.  Another thing Iâd like to forget.â
âIt wasnât bad at all.  Not for me.  We made a good team.â
The words set something loose in your headâyou sit up, startle a little.  âTeam P-prime.â
Bob grins.  âThatâs right.  The best of the best.â  He holds out his hand for you to slap it, to give him five as the two of you used to do when Team Prime was mentionedâŚbut you misunderstand the gesture and reach out, hold his hand instead.
He squeezes your hand and waits for you to let him go first, but you donât, so the two of you stay like that for the rest of the drive to your place.
-----
Maybe itâs the feeling of your hand in his, but Bobâs emotions roil and churn as he parks outside of your building.  He kills the ignition and lets go of your hand reluctantly.
âCan I walk you to your door?â he asks.
You smile, but thereâs an edge to your voice.  âI can walk myself.â
âI was raised to be a gentleman,â he replies.  âMy mama would slap me upside the head if I just dumped a lady off at the curb.â
You laugh.  âOh, Iâm a lady then?â
Bob laughs too, climbs out of the car, comes around to your side to get your door.  âYouâre a menace is what you are, but Iâll still walk you to your door.â
He knows youâve been changed, but this feels so much like before.  The two of you gently teasing each other, that easy camaraderie that blossomed like desert flowers after a rain.  You thread your arm through his when he offers it, and that close, Bob can smell you.  You even smell the same; you have the same lightly smoky, woodsy scent.
At your door, you take out your keys and fumble them in the lock, but Bob doesnât step in to help you.  He lets you get it yourself.  Hannah wants him to treat you like youâre just boring old you, yetâŚ
âIt was good to see you again,â he says as you stand in your doorway.  The way you gaze back at him gives him courage to say more, so he adds, haltingly, âIâm gladâŚ.I mean, youâŚyou have no idea how good it is to see you.â
You tilt your head.  âAre you going to cry?â
âI might,â he answers, honest.  Thereâs a tightness in his chest that could turn into tears.
âWould you like a hug?â
He would.  He nods, and you hold your arms out to him.  Bob Floyd steps into your open arms and enfolds you in his own.  He lays a palm against your head, presses you carefully to his chest when he feels your arms wend around his waist.  He doesnât cry, but heâs closeâbecause youâre so wonderfully warm, so solid against him, that heâs reminded of how close you came to dyingâŚbut you didnât.  Youâre alive and for this too-brief moment, youâre in his arms.
*****
You get the text a few days after the party.
Is this still the number for the other half of Team Prime?  You frown for a beat, then remember.Â
No, it belongs to a menace now. Â
Thought so, comes the reply.  Then howâs your day going?
Such a normal question.  Bob seems to be the one person who strikes the perfect balanceânot treating you like an invalid, but also not pretending that you werenât nearly crushed to death in a car crash.
Thatâs how it goes with him.  Him north in Lemoore, you south in San Diego, but once you get into the habit, the two of you text every day.  Then you start calling in the evening, the two of you chatting like the oldest of friends, and it bumps against something in your brain, some buried memory that is just begging to be excavated.
-----
Hannah and Ericâs wedding date creeps closer.  You try to handle the anxiety that bubbles up the back of your throat, but as the day draws closer, you feel more and more uneasy.
Itâs that eyes-on-your feeling.  The feeling of people watching you, judging you.  Everyone knows the wedding was postponed because of you, and you have significant guilt about that.  You sister could already be married if it werenât for you.
You try to talk Hannah into appointing a new maid-of-honor, but she waves you off.  Like she always does. Â
âEverything is pretty much handled.  Whatâs it matter now?â she asks.
What does it matter?  It matters that the maid-of-honor walks down the aisle too, gives a speech at the reception, generally handles any minor bumps.  Which is fine for normal people, but when you need thick orthopedic shoes to keep your balance, walking down the aisle suddenly seems like a freak show.  When you stutter, suddenly the prospect of giving a speech feels like a nightmare.  You try to tell her so, but she waves you off again, this time with an edge of anger in her voice.
âWhat do you mean, normal people?  Youâre normal,â she says.
âYou know what I mean.â
âI donât.â  She crosses her arms, glares at you.  âExplain it.â
You try, for the thousandth time, but Hannah just shakes her head and cuts you off halfway through your meandering list of excuses.
âLook, letâs assume I want to swap you out at this point.  Itâs too late in the game.  You already have your dress, and you already did most of the planning before.â  She pauses, narrows her eyes as she considers her next words.
âBesides, if we changed the maid-of-honor now, weâd have to change out the best man too.â
âWhat do you mean?â
You swear you see something flash across her expressionâsomething teasing, devilishâbefore she answers, âI think Bob would protest pretty loudly if he didnât stay paired up with you.â
You feel your face heat up instantly.  âItâs n-not like that.â
She reaches out, pokes you between your ribs where youâre ticklish.  âWhatâs it like then?  You had a crush on him before.  You had it bad for him, in fact.â
Another unfortunate side effect of your injuries:  youâre not a very good liar anymore.  Youâre not as quick on your feet.  Old You would have a deflection already queued up, ready to roll smoothly from your mouth, but New You only mumbles a flimsy excuse about needing to get home for something important you have to do. Â
-----
Thing is, you remember.  Maybe not precise moments from before, but you remember the plane ride to Vegas.  Itâs hazy in your memory, but whatâs there is the feeling of his hand in yours, his words right in your ear.  You canât remember what he was saying, but you remember hugging him afterwards.
Whatâs more concrete is the memory of the feelingâa crush or love, or just the general pleasure of being in his company.  At the party a few months ago, just sitting on the porch with Bob brought those memories back.  You remembered how he smelled, the clean scent of him.  You remembered the calming aura of just being near him.
And even if you hadnât had feelings beforeâhe had been engaged then, after allâit wouldnât be hard to fall for him now.  The two of you talk all the time.  He tells you about his job, about his family and his childhood and books heâs reading and a movie he just saw.  Over time, he opens up about his failed engagement, and youâre honored that he trusts you enough to tell you these things that he likely doesnât share with others.
You, in turn, trust him.  You tell him about your struggles in your recovery, the frustration and fear that youâll never be the same.
You edge up against your deepest fear, but you never exactly give it a voice.  As much as you love talking with him, love having him be the first thing you think of when you wake up each morning, you know it can never become more. Â
If you follow the natural progression of things, you canât see a future with Bob Floyd.  Or anyone, really.  But with Bob, a man in the militaryâŚhe needs someone who can handle things at home when heâs deployed.  He needs someone who can move across the country in a momentâs notice, who can give him children and look after those children while heâs off flying fighter jets.
You canât even thread a zipper on its track.  You have nothing to offer him. Â
But you canât say those words out loud, so you make self-depreciating remarks, you refuse talk of the future, and you hope he understands the oblique way youâre trying to tell him that he shouldnât allow any feelings for you to take root. Â
That youâre struggling to do the same for him, to keep him from burrowing so deep in your heart that heâll never be dislodged.

Economics and Logistics
Coin of the Realm: The nation of Veck (and by extension the Barony of Barry) uses a currency colloquially referred to as a Buck, a silver disk roughly the diameter of the average thumbnail. The official name is the Royal Mark, but the nickname "buck" won out because one side prominently features a stag, that animal being a focal point in the royal family's coat of arms. The Hafton Princes also mint silver coinage with their own heraldic emblems, and that might have helped the "buck" terminology gain traction, to make it clear what nation's currency will be accepted at any given business. (The coins are similar in size and shape, and have been similarly devalued with other metals over time, so in practice they are used interchangeably throughout the archipelago.)
You Can Take That To The Bank: Carrying around a large bag of silver has numerous logistical problems when it comes to making large purchases, so of course there are various means by which different individuals and organizations get around it. Banks offer written checks (or cheques, as the empire on the mainland spells them for some reason) against the recorded balances of account holders, businesses establish records of credit and debit, and there are plenty of traders and merchants who speculate on physical goods that might fetch a better price than what they paid for them. All of this creates paper trails of one sort or another, which the Hero can use to try to figure out the Villains' plans - but the Villains can also do the same to keep track of the Hero and their Party. Buying cash is not that anonymous when every trader remembers the three dangerous looking people carrying fistfuls of silver. (Dexter points this out early on in his Mission Planning tutorial and also lampshades how hard it is for an individual to launder money compared to a larger organization.)
Can't Make Bricks Without Clay: In order to oppose the machinations of at least two aspiring dictators, the Hero and whoever they recruit will need more than just a sense of righteous indignation and catchy theme song. Party members will need food, medicine, equipment maintenance and upgrades, ammunition for various types of weapons, crafting components, and all manner of unusual context specific items needed for one quest or another. All of this runs into questions of money. Establishing and upgrading safehouses often requires an outlay of funds if the safehouse is not acquired through some sort of quest or mission, and any damage will need to be repaired as well. All of this means that saving the world can be a costly proposition, and some of the missions and side-quests the Hero will need to undertake will be purely for financial gain and stability; Party members without food, medical care, or a safe place to sleep can't fight as effectively, recover from injuries, or use their full range of skills.
New Money Versus Old Money: As part of their attempts to leverage control over occupied territory, both Silas Van Der Horne and Ben Waters start mandating the use of their own currency instruments and financial networks in any territory they manage to occupy. This means the only businesses in occupied territory that will still take bucks will be Pawn Shops, which do not have the same range of inventory. Complicating things further, traders from across the sea or the mainland will sometimes try to spend the money of their homeland rather than finding somebody who can do a currency exchange, and a few of those traders are either hamstrung by port regulations or paranoid about being cheated and will ONLY accept payment for their goods or services in the forms they recognize. (At least one quest requires Imperial Crowns from the Siderial Empire.)

Okay, I literally cannot focus on my project because of these THOUGHTS so I hope blurting everything out here helps me get things off my mind (this happens every time I want to do a thing in real life).
To be fair I have focused on some characters more than others in relation to a possible Welcome Home X Splatoon AU so not all characters will be covered here and now. Things may be further expanded on in the future as I stew on these AU ideas a little more and I may even have art to showcase in relation to it (most likely one-off doodles but who knows)
Wally Darling-An Octoling draftsperson, engineer, and musician once dedicated to the Shogun's cause, when exposed to a heavenly melody only a year ago he awoke to the reality of his society and wanted an out. When presented with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to escape, he took it along with an unlikely friend in H.O.M.E. despite the countless dangers and difficulties the two would face from abandoning their old way of life. With the help of a kind Cuttling, Julie, he is working to slowly integrate himself into the society he was not only taught to hate but also constantly worked to sabotage. Wally is experienced with all forms of turf-war weapons (or at least their Octarian counterparts) but has a special love for the Brushes class with his favorites being the classic Inkbrush and Octobrush.
Home-Former great octo weapon from the Great Turf War, the H.O.M.E. device is a living breathing fortress of Octarian technology meant to move with battalions and provide them all necessities on the battlefield, most notably a fully stocked medical ward and M.A.S.H. unit. Having seen so much pointless death and destruction in his long lifetime, when presented the opportunity to escape Octo Valley in search of new beginnings, H.O.M.E. did not hesitate in fleeing with Wally despite the dangers and difficulties this presented for the both of them. Home does not use a turf-war weapon as he is the weapon itself
Julie Joyful- This Cuttleling isn't just an up-and-coming idol and newscaster, but the secret Agent 4 of her local Squidbeak Splatoon. Far more soft-hearted than her sisters, this translator of the Splatoon had a chance encounter with an unlikely friend and upon finding not everything she thought was as it was, took it upon herself to help this little Octoling learn and join Inkling Society. Of course, balancing her little pet-project, idol work, news casting, and secret identity with a growing relationship was not something she intended to take on but life wouldn't be as fun if it were not a challenge to be won. Julie has some experience with all manner of turf war weapons but she far prefers the fast-paced action of the slosher class and wiper class.
Sally Starlet-Rising star of her local neighborhood, this Inkling has big dreams, bigger plans, and even bigger potential. When she isn't co-hosting on her local news station, recording music and music videos for her risings career, and choreographing dances for both her and Julie's future releases this Cepholokid is showcasing her talent in the ranked modes of Rainmaker and Clam Blitz. While Sally showcases quite the talented actress she is also talented in spotting the acts of others--though she knows her co-anchor is not being entirely forthcoming about why she is always too busy to throw in some rounds of terf or consistently make it to practice on time she always manages to loose track of the Cuttlekid when trying to investigate. Compared to Julie's interest in the wiper class, Sally prefers to stick with the short-mid range shooters not only to make the ordinary extraordinary in her use but also to cover her closest friend when in the midst of battle.
Howdy Pillar-Manager of all the shops, this abnormally large sea slug is a member of the Sacoproteus species. Knowledgeable of all things fresh, this busy bee of a business owner cares deeply for his community and employees, always ensuring they are not overworked and are properly rested. Whenever he feels his employees need a break he can be found manning the shop for a few days or weeks and occasionally helping those less fresh learn the skills of climbing the ranks and finding their style. He has a special spot in his heart for those especially naive in the subject from his own experience teaching his many, many siblings how they too could become as fresh as him in his youth.
Barnaby B Beagle-How does a dogfish and an inkling find a common interest enough to raise a child? Barnaby couldn't say but his parents sure could (not that he knows them well enough to ask them). An odd find in his home city, Barnaby is the one and only Sharkling noted for miles around for his great humor and greater appetite. Originally born in a smaller town, his adoptive mother moved to their new home later in life to protect their son from those who were frightened by him. The city was far more accepting, and through his sense of humor he was able to nail down a job working for Howdy allowing him to not only help his mother fund their move but also get to know the area better. Barnaby is the first of the town Wally meets other than Julie and the two are quick to bond. Not very interested in Turf War or Ranked Modes when there is so much else to do as a non-squid kid, Barnaby does not have a preference for any turf weapon but is skilled when it comes to using rollers and splatlings.
I would have drawn all of this out, but firstly I am in the midst of project Ash Wednesday (the potential name of my future furby child) and secondly, I am struggling with just wanting to draw/like what I draw. With how consumed my brain has been about this I really hope I can get over my drawing hang-up soon so I actually can illustrate all my little thoughts in a cohesive way and maybe tell a story with this (I've always wanted to do that but have never been able to figure out how to do comics or draw things in relation to them)
#It seems every time I try to draw something not only do I hate it but I come to hate the process.#To be completely honest I fear that I may decide to set down my pencil altogether and leave art behind#College is killing me and I just am not happy no matter what I do#God this is probably the longest post I have ever made on here and all of it just to quell the brainrot#Welcome Home#Welcome Home ARG#Splatoon#Welcome Home X Splatoon#Wally Darling#Home#Howdy Pillar#Julie Joyful#Barnaby B Beagle#Sally Starlet#Onion Rambles

How I spent my 2023 Summer Solstice celebration
As expected, my plans for celebrating midsummer didn't pan out as I thought they might. But that doesn't mean that I didn't have a good summer solstice.
I'm technically still celebrating, but I have to balance it with a substantial to-do list over the next 3 days. Sooooo ... business as usual. đ
On a slightly serious note, part of my physical recovery journey has been to learn to let go and let things flow as they may. So if my plans don't develop as I hoped, I've learned that they will develop at a pace that is meant for me. #slowliving
Anyway, back to what I got up to for June 21st:
Now to be fair, this photo was from Tuesday, when I made honey cakes for the holiday. The cakes didn't turn out as sweet as I would've liked, but it was still nice to take a moment and bake something from scratch.
So I made the honey cakes the day before, which left my schedule open a bit for Wednesday morning. With that in mind, I was lucky enough to catch the sunrise on the East Coast at 5:25am. And it was glorious! Seriously, my photos don't do it any justice.
After I finished oohing and aahing, I took my butt back to bed since I'm still on short-term medical leave and I didn't have to go into work this week.
That extra hour or two of sleep coupled with the hour or so of reading fanfiction (it was Leverage fanfic, in case you were wondering), gave me a wonderfully even tempered morning that I really appreciated. Then, it was off to getting ready for the day, chatting with my mom on the phone, and preparing for a work-related Zoom call.
Before my call, I managed to have just enough time to cook a mushroom omelette to pair with my toast and morning tea. After the call, I gave myself the space to sit down, meditate, read from the Tao, and do an annual Summer Solstice tarot reading. I thought the messaging was quite honest.
Here's what it told me:
What should I leave in the darkness with this solstice? 7 of Wands
What new beginning is waiting for me this summer? Page of Cups
What can I find joy in this season? 4 of Cups
What is the general theme of this season for me? The Hermit
How can I celebrate and enjoy this solstice? Temperance
A message from my guides and mother earth. 7 of Cups
Afterwards, I did a little housecleaning and took care of a few bills, because getting my finances and house more in order were a part of my new year's resolutions.
Then came lunch ...
It was nothing fancy, but I liked it and it was homemade.
I enjoyed a fresh spinach salad with tomatoes and mushrooms, pasta with basil and diced tomatoes, a honey cake, and fresh lavender lemonade.
Afterwards, I took a much-needed nap. And followed that up with a walk to the park as the sun was slowly setting.
Then came cooking dinner and watching a much-maligned film while I ate it. The film was Supernova starring James Spader and Angela Bassett. And yes, it was indeed ... not good. Solid cast though. Robert Forster, Lou Diamond Phillips, Wilson Cruz and Robin Tunney. But yeah, it wasn't good. James Spader looked really hot though. And of course, Ms. Bassett looked amazing.
Anyway, for dessert, I also enjoyed another honey cake, but this time I mixed it with chopped pineapple to help sweeten the confection. I think it turned out pretty well. Or at least, it's how I'm going to eat the rest of them going forward.
The pineapple also corresponds with the colors of the solstice, I think. So yay me for staying on theme. đ¤
By then, I was pretty tired and decided to call it a night. I didn't have the energy to read, dance or paint, but that's ok. As I said before, let it go and let it flow.
And that's how I celebrated the summer solstice. đť

Say Goodbye to Menopause Struggles: Expert Clinic Services You Need to Know About
Menopause is a natural phase of life that every woman eventually experiences, typically between the ages of 45 and 55. However, the transition can bring a host of challenging symptoms, from hot flashes and night sweats to mood swings and sleep disturbances. These symptoms can disrupt daily life and even lead to more serious health concerns. But the good news is that you donât have to navigate menopause alone. Expert clinic services are available to help you manage and alleviate these struggles, ensuring a smoother and healthier transition.
Understanding Menopause and Its Symptoms Before diving into the available services, itâs important to understand what menopause is and how it can affect your body. Menopause occurs when the ovaries stop producing eggs, which leads to a decline in the production of estrogen and progesteroneâtwo key hormones that regulate the reproductive system. This hormonal shift results in a variety of symptoms that can vary greatly in intensity and duration, including:
Hot Flashes: Sudden feelings of warmth, often accompanied by sweating and flushing. Night Sweats: Hot flashes that occur at night, disrupting sleep and leading to fatigue. Mood Swings: Increased irritability, anxiety, and even depression due to hormonal changes. Sleep Issues: Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, often due to night sweats or anxiety. Weight Gain: Hormonal imbalances can lead to an increase in abdominal fat. Vaginal Dryness: A decrease in estrogen levels can cause vaginal tissues to become thinner and drier, leading to discomfort during sex.
While these symptoms are common, they donât have to define your experience with menopause. Many women find that seeking professional help from a clinic specializing in menopause care can provide much-needed relief and support.
Expert Clinic Services for Menopause Relief There are several services and treatments available through specialized menopause clinics that can help women manage these symptoms effectively. Here are some of the most common services offered:
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) One of the most widely known treatments for menopause is Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). This therapy involves replacing the hormones that the body no longer produces in sufficient amounts. There are different types of HRT, including:
Estrogen Therapy: Helps alleviate symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness. Progesterone Therapy: Often used alongside estrogen therapy to balance hormone levels and protect the uterus from the risk of cancer. Bioidentical Hormones: These hormones are chemically identical to those produced by the body, and some women prefer them as a more natural alternative to traditional HRT.
HRT can be administered in various forms, including pills, patches, gels, or creams, depending on the patientâs needs and preferences. An expert menopause clinic can help you determine if HRT is right for you and tailor a treatment plan that best suits your health profile. Click here to know more information about Liberty Menopause Clinics.
Lifestyle and Nutritional Guidance A healthy lifestyle can significantly ease menopause symptoms. Clinics often provide personalized counseling on diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes that can help women navigate this phase. Experts may recommend:
Balanced Diet: Emphasis on foods rich in phytoestrogens (plant-based compounds that mimic estrogen), such as soy, flaxseeds, and tofu, which can help manage hot flashes. Exercise Plans: Regular physical activity can improve mood, reduce stress, and help with weight management, which is often a concern during menopause. Stress Management: Yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises can help alleviate anxiety and mood swings.
The goal is to help women regain control over their bodies and improve their overall well-being during this transition.
Non-Hormonal Medications For women who are unable or unwilling to take HRT, there are several non-hormonal medications that can help manage menopause symptoms. These include:
Antidepressants: Certain types of antidepressants, like SSRIs and SNRIs, have been shown to help alleviate hot flashes and mood swings. Gabapentin: This drug, typically used to treat nerve pain, has been found to help with hot flashes and sleep disturbances. Clonidine: A medication used to treat high blood pressure, clonidine can also reduce hot flashes in some women. Menopause clinics work closely with patients to determine the most effective non-hormonal treatments based on their specific symptoms and medical history.
Pelvic Floor Therapy Vaginal dryness, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse can be common issues during menopause. Pelvic floor therapy, often provided by expert clinics, focuses on strengthening the muscles of the pelvic region to improve bladder control and sexual function. This can include physical therapy exercises or even the use of specialized devices designed to strengthen the pelvic floor.
Mental Health Support The emotional challenges of menopause are real and can be debilitating. Anxiety, depression, and mood swings are often exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations. Menopause clinics offer mental health support through therapy and counseling, helping women cope with the emotional toll of this life stage.
Alternative Therapies Some women seek alternative treatments to complement or replace traditional medical interventions. Many menopause clinics offer alternative therapies such as:
Acupuncture: This ancient practice has been shown to help reduce hot flashes and improve mood. Herbal Supplements: Phytoestrogens and other plant-based supplements may offer symptom relief. Mind-Body Approaches: Techniques like mindfulness meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) are often used to help manage the mental and emotional aspects of menopause.
Conclusion Menopause doesnât have to be a struggle. With the right support and treatment, you can effectively manage symptoms and continue living your life to the fullest. Expert menopause clinics provide a variety of services, from hormone replacement therapy to lifestyle changes and mental health support, to help you navigate this phase with ease. If you're struggling with menopause, consider reaching out to a clinic that specializes in menopause care to find the support and treatment that's right for you.

Kidney Specialist in Greater Noida West
Introduction Kidneys play a crucial role in our overall health, filtering waste from our blood and maintaining a balance of fluids in the body. But what happens when these vital organs start to malfunction? This is where the expertise of a kidney specialist, also known as a nephrologist, becomes indispensable. Greater Noida West, a rapidly growing region, has seen an increasing demand for specialized kidney care. In this article, weâll delve into why kidney health is so important, explore the types of kidney specialists available, and guide you on finding the best kidney care in Greater Noida West.
Understanding Kidney Health The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine, just below the ribcage. They perform the critical function of filtering out waste products and excess fluids from the blood, which are then excreted as urine. In addition to this, kidneys help regulate blood pressure, produce essential hormones, and maintain electrolyte balance.
However, like any other organ, kidneys are susceptible to various diseases and conditions. Chronic kidney disease (CKD), kidney stones, and acute kidney injury are just a few examples. Recognizing the symptoms and seeking timely medical attention from a kidney specialist is key to preventing further complications.
Why You Might Need a Kidney Specialist Early signs of kidney issues are often subtle, making them easy to overlook. These may include fatigue, swelling in the ankles and feet, changes in urination patterns, and high blood pressure. If you have diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of kidney disease, your risk of developing kidney problems increases.
A kidney specialist, or nephrologist, is trained to diagnose and treat kidney-related diseases. They can help manage conditions like CKD, kidney stones, and electrolyte imbalances, and provide guidance on preventing kidney damage.
Types of Kidney Specialists When it comes to kidney care, there are different types of specialists you may encounter:
Nephrologists: These are doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. Urologists: While they treat the urinary tract system, urologists also address issues related to kidney stones and other structural problems in the kidneys. Dialysis Specialists: These professionals manage patients who require dialysis, a treatment that replicates the kidneyâs filtering function when the organs are no longer able to perform effectively. How to Choose the Right Kidney Specialist Selecting the right kidney specialist is crucial for effective treatment. Here are some factors to consider:
Experience and Qualifications: Look for a specialist with extensive experience in treating kidney diseases. Board certification and specialized training in nephrology are important indicators of a doctorâs expertise. Patient Reviews: Reading reviews from other patients can provide insights into the quality of care you can expect. Referrals and Second Opinions: Donât hesitate to ask for referrals from your primary care doctor or seek a second opinion if youâre unsure about your diagnosis or treatment plan. Kidney Specialist Services in Greater Noida West Greater Noida West is home to several reputable kidney specialists and clinics. These professionals offer a wide range of services, from routine check-ups to advanced treatments for complex kidney conditions. Whether you need management for chronic kidney disease, treatment for kidney stones, or guidance on dialysis, youâll find experienced specialists in the area. Innovations in Kidney Care The field of nephrology is constantly evolving, with new treatments and technologies being introduced regularly. In Greater Noida West, patients have access to some of the latest innovations in kidney care, including minimally invasive procedures for kidney stones, advanced dialysis techniques, and cutting-edge imaging technologies for accurate diagnosis.
The Patient Experience Visiting a kidney specialist can be daunting, especially if youâre dealing with a serious condition. However, understanding what to expect can help ease your concerns. During your first visit, the specialist will review your medical history, conduct a physical examination, and may order tests such as blood work, urine analysis, or imaging studies. Based on the results, theyâll discuss your treatment options and create a personalized care plan.
Patient testimonials highlight the compassionate care provided by kidney specialists in Greater Noida West. Many patients report feeling reassured and well-informed after their consultations.
Preventive Care and Kidney Health Prevention is always better than cure, and this is especially true for kidney health. To maintain healthy kidneys, itâs important to:
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Follow a balanced diet low in sodium, sugar, and unhealthy fats. Monitor your blood pressure and blood sugar levels regularly. Avoid overuse of medications like painkillers, which can damage the kidneys over time. Schedule regular check-ups, especially if you have risk factors like diabetes or high blood pressure. The Importance of Early Detection Early detection of kidney disease can significantly improve outcomes. Simple screening tests, such as blood and urine tests, can help identify kidney problems before they progress. If youâre at risk, make sure to get screened regularly and consult a kidney specialist if you notice any unusual symptoms.
Dialysis Centers in Greater Noida West For patients with advanced kidney disease, dialysis may become necessary. Dialysis centers in Greater Noida West offer both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, providing life-sustaining treatment for those with severe kidney failure. Facilities like Sharda Hospital and Jaypee Hospital have well-equipped dialysis units staffed by experienced professionals.
Kidney Transplant Services In cases of end-stage renal disease, a kidney transplant may be the best option. Greater Noida West is home to several transplant centers where skilled surgeons perform kidney transplants with a high success rate. These centers also offer pre-transplant evaluation, donor matching, and post-transplant care to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Cost of Kidney Care in Greater Noida West The cost of kidney care can vary depending on the type of treatment required. For example, dialysis and transplant procedures are more expensive than routine consultations and medications. However, many hospitals in Greater Noida West offer affordable care options and work with insurance providers to help manage costs. Be sure to discuss payment plans and insurance coverage with your healthcare provider.
Conclusion Kidney health is crucial for overall well-being, and finding the right specialist can make all the difference in managing kidney-related conditions. Whether youâre in need of routine care, advanced treatment, or preventive advice, Greater Noida West offers a range of services from highly qualified kidney specialists. Donât wait until symptoms worsenâearly detection and proper care can lead to better outcomes and a healthier life.
FAQs What are the early signs of kidney disease?
Early signs include fatigue, swelling in the ankles, changes in urination, and high blood pressure. If you experience any of these, consult a kidney specialist. How can I find the best kidney specialist in Greater Noida West?
Look for specialists with experience, good patient reviews, and board certification in nephrology. Referrals from your primary care doctor can also help. Is dialysis the only treatment for kidney failure?
No, other treatments include medication and lifestyle changes. In severe cases, a kidney transplant may be recommended. Can kidney disease be cured with lifestyle changes?
While lifestyle changes can help manage kidney disease, they may not cure it. Early detection and treatment are crucial. What should I bring to my first appointment with a kidney specialist?
Bring your medical history, a list of medications, and any recent test results. Be prepared to discuss your symptoms and health concerns.

Can Alterations in Gut Microbiota Serve as Biomarkers for Predicting Mental Health Disorders?
The gut-brain axis mediated by gut microbiota represents bidirectional communication network in gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system this link suggests that changes in gut microbiota could serve as biomarkers for mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety highlighting its vital function and potential impact (Duan et al., 2022; Jia et al., 2020).
Likewise, significant effect has been discovered through recent studies that individuals with mental health disorders have experienced faster recovery compared to the control sample suggesting high value of impact through supplementation and balance of microbiota (Duan et al., 2022; Järbrink-Sehgal & Andreasson, 2020), forming high potential in predictive value of specific microbial taxa as modification in gut microbiota has been linked to positively affect mental health and recovery time compared to individual with an unbalanced microbiota (Yan et al., 2021). Therefore, active manipulation of microbiota levels provider can support individuals in faster and more efficient recovery.
youtube
Although specific role of gut microbiota in mental health is not well understood nor can be predicted due to individual differences or response; this research aims to further investigate and explore this topic through active alteration of gut microbiota via introduction of probiotics and prebiotics within participantâs daily diet. This can offer an opportunity to observe participants response to therapy and its respond marked as a predictor of mental health recovery time and state particularly when considering anxiety and depression.
A groundbreaking understanding of gut and mental health
This understanding can be a groundbreaking step for therapists and psychologist to incorporate its finding within their treatment planning and work collaboratively with nutritionist to formulate a more effective and personalized treatment plan making informed decisions with an integrated treatment plan effective for long-term mental health management and recovery time, potentially helping individuals shorten therapy with less reliant on medication through a holistic treatment plan that incorporated a multidimensional perspective incorporating both body and mind.
Formulating this collaboration can be the ground for a new personalized treatment plan. This study theorizes that a balance gut microbiota can serve as a supportive factor for individuals to progress their mental health recovery journey and achieve a desired response through therapy with a lower medication dependency. Therefore, the focuses will be set to explore the potential role of gut microbiota alterations in daily diets seeking to understand its interaction and/or involvement when exploring disorders such as anxiety and depression in via gut microbiota manipulation through supplementation.

Variables Definition
The variables in this study are defined as follows:
Independent variable (IV): Given the state of this research in this study the IV has been set as the dietary intervention with and without probiotic and prebiotic supplementation. These conditions will be explored in two set levels:
Control condition: Through standard diet Participants carry their regular daily diet without any added supplementation.
experimental condition: Participants diet will be supplemented with probiotics and prebiotics adjusted by a nutritionist to ensure proper supplementation.
Dependent variables (DV): Three primary DVs have been set for this study that will be measured and monitored throughout the study:
Gut microbiota composition: The gut microbiota composition will be measured through 16S rRNA sequencing of stool samples defined by changes within the microbial taxa.
Mental health status: To assess participants mental health status the researcher will utilize standardized scales such including Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI).
Physiological stress markers: The physiological stress markers will include cortisol levels and inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein, measured through blood samples.
Set conditions will be defined throughout the study by participants adherence to dietary protocols assigned.
Theoretical Framework and Literature Review
Halverson and Alagiakrishnan (2020) explored gut-brain axis as a well-established pathway impacting mental health through gut microbiota influencing brain function and behavior a process in how gut microbes interact with central nervous system demonstrating significant effect on mental health by neural, endocrine, and immune pathways. Highlighting the modulation of neurotransmitters and other neuroactive compounds through gut bacteria leading to changes in mental and behavioral state.
youtube
Likewise, dietary components offer therapeutic approach through altering gut microbiota with potential in improving mental health disorders via healthy diet (Xiong et al., 2023). This study explored the positive effects of diet and its components via gut microbiota by alleviating and/or reducing symptoms of mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression. Xiong et al. (2023) highlights the importance of a healthy dietary plan in support of having a healthy gut microbiota composition an important factor in maintaining a healthy mental health as Implementing a healthy and positive interventions, a promising approach to treat mental health disorders.
Chang et al. (2024) mini review employed faecal microbiota transplants to emphasize the significant progress via mechanistic pathway involved in rebalancing gut microbiota showcasing the positive impact in mental health. Gates et al. (2022) also examined changes in diet and its effects by modifying gut microbiota emphasizing positive impact on mental health suggesting a healthy alteration indicating noteworthy response with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Boscaini et al. (2023) explored whey proteins consumption affecting microbiota with positive impact on mental health. Boscaini et al. (2023) highlights mechanisms through which whey protein can enhances the production of beneficial gut bacteria and the production of neuroactive substances that positively affect mental health.
youtube
Gut microbiota and mental health
Collective evidence from current research suggests strong link between gut microbiota and mental health. However, as stated by Grajek et al. (2022) the current body of research lacks an understanding on how mental health professionals can utilize such knowledge in formulating treatment plans.
Furthermore, Vindegaard et al. (2021) and Moqbil et al. (2021) highlighted the need for targeted research on predictive value of gut microbiota alterations for a better and more efficient mental health recovery. Madison and Kiecolt-Glaser (2019) in their study emphasized the role of stress and depression in regard to gut microbiota with the inclusion of cortisol and C-reactive protein as dependent variables, Merlo et al. (2024) additionally supported the positive effect of probiotic and prebiotic supplementation with positive impact on mental health.
Thus, this study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how alteration in gut microbiota can serve as mean to support individuals who are suffering from mental health disorders and support them in their treatment. This study hypothesizes that incorporating probiotic and prebiotic to daily diet can support individuals in a faster and more personalized recovery from mental health disorders and support positive changes in microbiota composition correlating with mental health improvement. This research has the potential to revolutionize mental health treatment offering a new pathway for therapist to work collaboratively with nutritionist providing scientific basis for the integration of nutritional interventions to not replace traditional treatment but rather to enhance and personalize treatment planing and reduce the possible dependency of medication.
Therefore this study seeks to bridge the gap by allowing therapist and other mental health professionals to better understand the existing link among body and mind, supporting individuals with long-term mental disorders with the hope of more effective response to treatment and recovery creating the foundation for a true personalized treatment plan link with both body and mind.
Existing research limits the connection of gut microbiota and mental health in supporting mental health professionals working collaboratively with nutritionist to support individuals in their recovery journey; therefore, filling a crucial gap by investigating direct impact of targeted gut microbiota manipulation though supplementation of proper probiotic and prebiotic while observing the changes in mental health recovery outcomes.
Although past research established correlation between gut microbiota and mental health disorders (Vindegaard et al., 2021; Moqbil et al., 2021; Merlo et al., 2024) though very limited research has been conducted on its predictive value by intentional alteration of gut microbiota for a faster mental health recovery. Previous research has established correlations between gut microbiota and mental health; though, there is limited research on the predictive value of intentional microbiota alterations for mental health disorder recovery. This study aims to provide a foundation for integrating nutritional interventions into psychological treatment plans, an area that remains underexplored in current clinical practice.

Statistical analyses will include t-tests and ANOVA to compare changes also regression analysis will be utilized to predict mental health outcomes based on gut microbiota.
Hypothesis
This study proposes the following hypotheses:
Hâ: Participants who are supplemented with probiotic and prebiotic will show more beneficial gut microbiota revealing a lower levels of stress markers and an improved scores on psychological assessments with a faster recovery time vs the participants who are not receiving the probiotic and prebiotic.
Hâ: Positive alterations in gut microbiota composition will positively correlate with improvements in mental health that can suggesting specific changes in microbial taxa is an effective biomarker for not only predicting but also managing mental health disorders.
Method
Participants
This study will have 100 adult participants who are between the age of 18 and 55 years. This sample size was selected due to several factors. First to understand the proper number of participants a power analysis was conducted while assuming medium effect size (d=0.5), an alpha level of 0.05, and desired power of 0.80 using G*Power software for our analyses suggesting minimum sample size of 84; therefore, the sample size was increased to 100 to support the study and count for potential attrition and to further enhance statistical power. Likewise this sample size aligns with the possibility of participants dropping out. Furthermore, the larger sample also allows for a more diverse representation of participants, enhancing the external validity of our results.
Furthermore the sample size can support the study in detecting significant differences among each group the experimental and the control group creating balance and the need for rigorous statistical analysis while accounting for potential dropout and non-compliance typically seen in dietary intervention studies.

Taking Charge: Your Guide to Financial Planning
Financial planning. It might sound intimidating, full of jargon and complex calculations. But fear not! Financial planning is simply the process of taking control of your money. It's about understanding your current financial situation, setting goals for the future, and creating a roadmap to achieve them.
Whether you're just starting your career, planning a family, or nearing retirement, financial planning is crucial for everyone. Here's why:
Clarity and Control: Financial planning sheds light on your income, expenses, debts, and savings. This knowledge empowers you to make informed decisions about your money and avoid financial surprises.
Achieving Goals: Do you dream of owning a home, traveling the world, or retiring comfortably? Financial planning helps you break down these goals into actionable steps. You can estimate costs, determine how much you need to save, and develop a strategy to get there.
Peace of Mind: Financial security brings peace of mind. Knowing you have a safety net for emergencies or unexpected expenses reduces stress and allows you to focus on other aspects of life.
Building Your Financial Plan: Step-by-Step
Now that you understand the importance of financial planning, let's dive into the steps to create your own personalized plan:
1. Assess Your Current Situation:
Income: Track your income from all sources, including salary, bonuses, and side hustles.
Expenses: List all your expenses, categorizing them into needs (rent, groceries, utilities) and wants (entertainment, dining out).
Debts: Make a list of all your debts, including outstanding balances and interest rates.
Savings and Investments: Tally up your current savings in checking accounts, emergency funds, and retirement accounts.
2. Set SMART Goals:
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Instead of a vague goal like "save more money," aim for "save $500 per month for a down payment on a house within two years."
Short-Term Goals: These might include saving for a vacation, car repair, or a new appliance within the next few months.
Mid-Term Goals: Focus on goals achievable within 3-5 years, such as building an emergency fund or paying off credit card debt.
Long-Term Goals: These are your big-picture plans like retirement, education for children, or starting a business.
3. Create a Budget:
A budget is a roadmap for your money. Allocate your income towards your expenses, savings goals, and debt repayment. Numerous budgeting methods exist; find one that suits your style, whether it's using apps, spreadsheets, or the traditional pen-and-paper method.
50/30/20 Rule: This popular approach allocates 50% of your income to needs, 30% to wants, and 20% to savings and debt repayment. You can adjust these percentages based on your specific situation.
4. Manage Your Debt:
Debt can be a major roadblock to achieving financial goals. Prioritize paying off high-interest debt like credit cards. Consider debt consolidation to secure a lower interest rate. Explore options like the snowball or avalanche methods to tackle your debts strategically.
5. Build an Emergency Fund:
Life throws curveballs. Aim to build an emergency fund that can cover 3-6 months of living expenses. This safety net protects you from financial hardship in case of job loss, medical emergencies, or unexpected repairs.
6. Invest for the Future:
Investing allows your money to grow over time, helping you achieve long-term goals. Explore options like retirement accounts (401(k), IRAs), index funds, or stocks and bonds, depending on your risk tolerance and time horizon.
7. Protect Yourself:
Life insurance safeguards your loved ones financially in case of your passing. Consider health insurance to cover medical costs and avoid financial burdens from unexpected illnesses.
8. Review and Update:
Financial planning isn't a one-time event. Regularly review your budget, goals, and progress. Adjust your plan based on life changes like promotions, salary increases, or starting a family. Economic factors and market conditions may also necessitate adjustments to your investment strategy.

When to Adjust ADHD Medication?A Comprehensive Guide
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that interfere with daily functioning or development. For many individuals living with ADHD, medication plays a crucial role in managing symptoms and improving quality of life. However, finding the right medication and dosage can be a complex process, requiring careful monitoring and adjustments over time. In this post, we'll explore how to recognize when it might be time to increase ADHD medication, the importance of consulting healthcare professionals, and how to make informed decisions about dosage adjustments.
Signs It Might Be Time for a Medication Adjustment
Behavioral Changes in Adults and Children with ADHD: It's important to observe any significant changes in behavior that could indicate that the current medication regimen is no longer as effective as it once was. For adults, this might mean an increase in forgetfulness, trouble organizing tasks, or managing time efficiently. In children, look for signs such as difficulty maintaining focus on schoolwork or an increase in impulsive actions.
Impact of Medication on Daily Functioning and School/Work Performance: If you or your child are experiencing greater challenges with day-to-day tasks and responsibilities, or if there's a noticeable decline in performance at school or work, these could be signs that the medication needs to be reevaluated.
Consulting with a Healthcare Professional
The Role of Healthcare Professionals in Medication Management for ADHD: Healthcare providers play a vital role in managing ADHD medication. They have the expertise to assess symptoms, consider any new or worsening side effects, and make informed decisions about adjusting dosages or changing medications.
Tips for Effective Communication During Consultations: When speaking with your healthcare provider, be clear and specific about the symptoms you or your child are experiencing. It's also helpful to discuss any lifestyle changes or stressors that may be affecting ADHD symptoms. Keeping a diary of symptoms and medication effects can be a valuable tool during these consultations.
Understanding Dosage Adjustments
Factors That May Indicate the Need for a Change in Medication or Dosage: Dosage adjustments may be necessary for various reasons, including changes in weight, age, or the onset of puberty in children. Additionally, the effectiveness of the medication can change over time, requiring a reevaluation of the dosage.
Overview of Different Medication Types and Their Effects: There are primarily two types of ADHD medications: stimulant and non-stimulant medications. Stimulants are the most commonly prescribed and are known for their quick onset of action. Non-stimulant medications, while slower to take effect, may be an option for individuals who experience significant side effects from stimulants.
Making Informed Decisions
Importance of Monitoring and Documenting Medication Effects: Regularly tracking symptoms and medication side effects can play a critical role in determining whether a dosage adjustment is needed. This documentation should include not only the severity of symptoms but also any changes in sleep patterns, appetite, and overall mood.
Balancing the Benefits and Side Effects of Medication Adjustments: While adjusting medication can lead to improved symptom management, it's also important to consider potential side effects. Discuss with your healthcare provider the risks and benefits of making a dosage change.
Conclusion
Effective ADHD medication management requires ongoing communication with healthcare professionals, close monitoring of symptoms and side effects, and a willingness to adjust treatment plans as needed. By understanding the signs that indicate a need for dosage adjustments and being proactive in consulting with healthcare providers, individuals with ADHD can maintain better control over their symptoms and enjoy a higher quality of life.
Remember, you're not alone in this journey. Seeking professional advice and supporting one another in the ADHD community can empower you to take an active role in your or your child's treatment plan.

Sugar Defender is a dietary supplement sold online that is marketed to help people manage their blood sugar levels. It comes in liquid form and is taken by mouth.
The product claims to be made with natural ingredients and to be free of gluten, GMOs, and side effects. However, there is limited scientific evidence to support these claims.
Let's look at the two main ingredients of Sugar Defender and see what research says about them:
Chromium: Chromium is a mineral that helps the body regulate blood sugar levels. Some studies have shown that chromium may be helpful for people with type 2 diabetes, but more research is needed.
Berberine: Berberine is a plant alkaloid that has been shown to have some blood sugar-lowering effects. However, berberine can interact with some medications, so it is important to talk to your doctor before taking it.
It is important to consult with a doctor before taking any new supplements, including Sugar Defender. This is especially important if you have any underlying health conditions, such as diabetes.
Here's how Sugar Defender might fit into your health journey, but remember it's important to approach it with caution:
Sugar Defender Claims:
Sugar Defender positions itself as a supplement to help manage blood sugar. It emphasizes natural ingredients and claims to promote weight loss and reduced cravings.
Considering Sugar Defender:
Discuss with your doctor first: This is crucial, especially if you have any pre-existing conditions like diabetes. Let your doctor know about Sugar Defender and your goals. They can advise on whether it's suitable and recommend alternatives or adjustments to your diet and exercise plan.
Limited evidence: While some ingredients may have some blood sugar benefits (like chromium), research is limited on Sugar Defender itself and its effectiveness for weight loss or cravings.
Natural doesn't mean risk-free: Natural ingredients can still interact with medications or have side effects.
Alternative Approaches for Blood Sugar Management:
Diet and Exercise: These are the cornerstones of healthy blood sugar management. Your doctor can help create a personalized plan.
Doctor-prescribed medications: If needed, your doctor can prescribe medications to help manage blood sugar levels.
Remember:
Sugar Defender is a supplement, not a magic bullet.
A healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and exercise is key for long-term blood sugar management.

Production Report #5
The past two weeks have been extremely challenging for me personally, which has affected my progress with my project. I had reached the phase where I was ready to schedule a final round of user testing on my high fidelity prototype.
I was suddenly struck with awful intestinal symptoms, which included pain and bloating. I was hoping the issue would resolve on its own, but it soon became clear that I needed to see my doctor to get any relief. I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), both of which are chronic. I was prescribed medication and was placed on the FODMAP diet. I had to reschedule all of my testing sessions so that I could balance resting in bed with trips to the grocery store to get new food that I was allowed to eat. And thus began a painful journey of living a lifetime of dietary restrictions.
The biggest lesson I have learned the past two weeks is that you canât push a project forward if your health isnât optimal. I felt guilty rescheduling sessions because I felt as though I was wasting peopleâs time. However, once I explained that I was not well enough to conduct the session, I discovered that people are incredibly kind and understanding. Everyone I had to reschedule told me to let them know when I felt well enough to conduct their session. It took me two weeks to get the sessions done. I was hoping to spend one week on the sessions and another week on the changes, but I had to readjust my plans. I have learned to be more forgiving for falling short of the high expectations I set on myself.
Once I was able to sit down for a session, I followed the same procedure as my previous sessions, but with a new prototype to test. I sat with a notebook and prompted the user to complete specific navigation tasks, such as navigating to the wish list page or finding an item to reserve to complete the main user flow. As the user completed each task, I took notes on my physical notebook, which I would later transcribe into a Google Sheets document. Once the user completed all of the tasks, I opened the voice recorder on my phone and asked open-ended questions, such as how they felt about the app and if they had any suggestions for improvement on either the design itself or the user flow. After the recording was completed, I would summarize the points the user made in my Google Sheets document. I would then refer to this document when I went back to Figma to prepare my project for final submission.
I used to push through projects even if I was unwell, mentally or physically, because I strive to get things done in an accurate and timely manner. I ended up not performing as well as I hoped at the cost of making my health worse. In order to manage my IBS, I had to decrease my stress levels. By working on this project piece by piece and by listening to what my body needed, I was able to complete the project, even though it took more time than I wanted to. Iâm hoping that I can use my time off this summer to focus on healing and coming back refreshed for the fall semester.
