annoyed about people thinking is Leto goddess of modesty ? Elaborate please (personally given how complex and fluid Ancient Greek cults are I wonder if we should retire âthe god/goddess of âconstruct given how reductive it can be sometimes)
Well, what does goddess of modesty actually mean? What would be the functions of a goddess of modesty in the first place? What makes Leto specifically the goddess of modesty?
I think the "god/goddess of ..." thing should be simply conceptualized something like: a god can do pretty much anything he/she wants, but they tend to have a handful of functions they specialize in and are generally worshipped for by most people. They aren't limited to those functions, however, and depending on place they could take over functions more commonly associated with other gods. For example at Lokroi Epizephyrioi Persephone (rather than Hera) seems to have been the main goddess concerned with marriage. Many of these so-called domains also can and do overlap frequently, which is another reason why this formula can be misleading; often we are talking about "a god of..." rather than "the god of...".
So in short yeah, it's very reductive. How often is Artemis called simply the goddess of the hunt? I find this excerpt from Robert Parker's "On Greek Religion" a very good summary of her mode of activity, but it would be hard to get a straightforward "the goddess of" from it: "... she is not, as has been often supposed, the âgoddess of the outsideâ or âof the wildâ but rather the goddess who presides over those contexts in human life where the civilized and the wild, culture and nature or culture and the human potential for bestiality, come into contact. The hunt is an obvious point of encounter between the two spheres; so too in a different way is childbirth, a violent and dangerous irruption of the merely physical within the human world; so too are those rituals of transition by which Artemis âacculturatesâ the young. As for warfare, Artemis is no warrior, but she receives offerings immediately before battle begins, the point at which violence, controlled or bestial, is about to break out. She also intervenes in battles as a savior at moments when the annihilation of one side, the destruction of a city and thus the negation of order, are in danger of occurring. âThe hunt, the care of the young, childbirth, war, and battleâArtemis always operates as a divinity of the margins with the twofold power of managing the necessary passages between savagery and civilization and of strictly maintaining the boundaries at the very moment they have been crossed.â" Artemis is even more than this, though, as Stephen Scully points out in "The Nature of the Gods in Early Greek Poetry": "But Greek religion further complicates our understanding of this goddess, as of all other gods, by attributing to her roles quite different from her "canonical" ones. So at Iasos in Caria, she is protectress of the city (Artemis Astias), and at Olympia, she is Artemis of the Market Place (Artemis Agoraia). Such is the Artemis in Sophocles' Oedipus Tyrannos (161-62) who "sits on her round, and far-famed, throne in the agora" at Thebes."

Sukuna
Pairing: Trueform!Sukuna x f!Reader
Summary: Sukuna comes to terms with the idea of having a daughter with you.
Warnings: MDNI, smut, vaginal fingering, anal fingering, double penetration, creampie, pregnancy, slightly ooc but still a misogynist, fluff at the end
Discord +18 - Twitter - Ko-Fi
âWhat the hell are you doing?â Sukuna squints his eyes, looking down at you as you knit something for your baby girl. Thereâs no way of actually knowing the sex of your baby, but something tells you that youâre expecting a daughter. Sukuna negates the thought, assuring you that youâre carrying a son. He canât possibly have a daughter, heâs always saying something along those lines.Â
âJust making a little something for our child.â You inform him, and Sukuna frowns. Your child is not going to wear something so pink because theyâll be a boy, Sukuna is sure of it. He snatches the cloth out of your hand and tosses it.
âWhy pink? Are you saying weâre having a girl?â Sukuna questions, and you cross your arms. You look up at your husband, mad that he's tossed your hard work to the side.Â
âYou have pink hair, Suku⊠Are you a girl?â You cock your eyebrow, and heâs not amused. He crosses both pairs of arms, rolling his eyes. Maybe he shouldnât associate colors with a certain gender because you are right, he does have pink hair⊠But he also knows that youâre making a pink blanket because you think youâre having a girl.
âMake a blue one.â He orders, and you glare at him. You shake your head in response, youâre not making a blue one. He grits his teeth, grabbing the blanket that he just tossed to the side and shredding your hard work to pieces.Â
âKeep an eye open tonight, because when you least expect it, Iâll strangle you.â You warn him, and youâre dead serious. Itâs clear that youâre carrying his child, youâve never threatened to kill him before.Â
âIf you even come close to it, I think Iâll fall more in love with you.â He chuckles, walking away, leaving you alone with your own anger. You let out a yell, cursing at him because the twinge of fear that you had for him completely faded a couple of months ago.Â
He holds no threat to you anymore. Sukuna wouldnât have done anything to you anyway, since he hates that he loves you so dearly, but the realization that you carry his child and heâll do no harm to you really gives you much more power and comfort. Sukuna finds humor in a very nonthreatening person, threatening to do something to him; especially when he knows that you can barely lift yourself up anymore.
He knows that you wonât even come close to succeeding in hurting him, and he laughs in amusement at the mere thought. But youâll get him back, you know you will.
âI thought we were going to spend the day together?â Sukuna asks as he watches you get ready to go out. You never invited him anywhere, so he was shocked to hear that you werenât at home. He isnât well liked in public, thereâs just something about being huge, having four arms and being extremely scary that people donât like. Sukuna can kill anyone without a second thought.Â
âI thought so too before someone ruined the blanket that I was making for my daughter⊠So I had to get the materials to make it again.â You tell him, and Sukuna nearly gasps when you drop the d word. Youâve always refused to call the baby your daughter since you have no idea what the sex is, but it seems like you use it to piss him off. You click your tongue when you notice his reaction, âWhat? Youâre so overdramatic. Youâve killed for fuckâs sake, why is saying daughter so scary to you.â
âBecause weâre having a son!â He yells, getting defensive about it. You donât understand why he gets upset at the mere suggestion that heâs having a daughter. Before you got pregnant, Sukuna never seemed to care about the gender of a hypothetical babyâ Although you shouldnât be shocked since your husband isnât exactly the most fair when it comes to different sexes⊠Sukuna is a misogynist, thatâs what youâre trying to get at. He treats all humans with the same disdain, but particularly women. It seems that youâve forgotten because he doesnât treat you the same way he treats everyone else.
âSukuna, weâre having a daughter.â You reiterate, and you watch his eye twitch. Youâre doing it to piss him off, he knows it, yet itâs working. âYou wanted a baby, Sukuna. You knew there was no guarantee that youâd be having a son, but you still decided that you wanted one. You canât cry about having a daughter.â
Sukuna takes a deep breath, surprisingly managing his anger well. He decides to leave the room, leaving you alone to do whatever the hell you want. You fuel his anger even more, yelling at him, âAnd donât come back until you fix your attitude!â
You stare off into the distance, your hand resting on your bump. You begin to wonder what Sukuna will actually do, and you canât do anything but hope that heâll come around to the idea because you know Sukuna. He isnât good whatsoever, he wonât hesitate to hurt her, even if sheâs his own flesh and blood. Youâre not sure you could stay by his side if he were to do anything, but you wouldnât really have any other option either.
You decide to go to sleep, because thinking about it further wonât really help you in any way. You delude yourself, thinking that heâll come around to the idea.
A large pair of arms wrap around you, waking you up from your slumber. Sukuna does it to try and be romantic, but he nearly suffocates you. You slap his arm, telling him, âLoosen the gripââ
He loosens his grip, which lets you know that he wasnât trying to kill you. Thankfully. Sukuna would never do anything to harm you, but sometimes you swear you donât know him much. Itâs very rare when you get a heart to heart with Sukuna where he actually talks about him, he usually prefers to listen to listen, and to threaten anyone in the stories that offend you in the slightest.
âCan I say something without you getting mad?â You begin, still half asleep. Sukuna furrows his brows. Due to his lack of answer, you decide to speak, âYouâre overreacting.â
âI just donât know what Iâd do with a daughter.â He confesses. He doesnât know how heâd handle her, how to treat her fairly, how he wouldâ He doesnât know how he would do anything. He doesnât know what being a woman entails so he wonât know how to teach her anything. He wants to teach her how to do everything.Â
âEverything youâd do with a son.â You reply. You really doubt that your child will be raised to have great morals, so thereâs no point in really raising them differently. âSukuna, how will it be different?â
âHow will it not be different?â He sounds offended. Thereâs nothing similar between men and women. Sukunaâs hands go to your bump, his hand caressing it. âBut for my heir, I guess I can make an exception.â
âIs that your way of telling me that you wonât make a fuss over the possibility of having a daughter?â You ask him, and his silence gives you an answer. Yes, Sukuna is fine with it, as fine as he can be at least.
His hand goes under your nightgown, caressing your thighs. You feel Sukuna kiss the back of your neck, and you squeeze your thighs, his large hand stuck between them. The man rarely touches you nowadays, seeing you as fragile as ever. You donât know about the sudden change, but you certainly donât mind.
âWhat changed in you?â You ask him as his hand goes up to your panties. He pushes them to the side because last time he tore something of yours, you got too mad at him so heâd rather not risk it. His fingers run through your folds before going to your clit, and you bite your bottom lip due to pure excitement.
âWas thinking about how Iâd be nothing without you.â He confesses, letting you know that he didnât come to terms with having a daughterâ Sukuna is a man that fears nothing, at least thatâs what you thought up until now. He fears losing you. Itâs your issue⊠Youâve never paid attention to the love in his eyes when he speaks to you or about you. Sometimes you donât realize just how much you mean to him. âThen I remembered how gorgeous you look carrying our son.â
âIf you say that again Iâllââ You begin but Sukuna is two steps ahead of you. He pushes two large fingers inside of you. You canât help but moan, covering your mouth immediately. One of his hands pulls your hand away, even in the dark he knows what you do. After all, youâre not just getting to know him, but heâs getting to know you too.
âDid I tell you to be fucking quiet?â He asks through gritted teeth. You have to be quiet at other times, like when the baby gets here and you risk waking them up. Now, if any of the servants hear, thatâs their fucking problem. âBe loud, my love. Remind everyone who you belong to.â
âThey know.â You tell him, which is quickly cut off by a moan as his fingers move faster. You feel his thumb graze your asshole, teasing you before he pushes it in. âSukuââ
âYouâre not going to be able to stay quiet.â He ends up laughing. You never do because heâs just too much for you to handle. He curves his fingers so they hit your sweet spot. You shut your eyes, quickly succumbing to pleasure. Youâve missed this feeling so much, and he refuses to give it to you.
Sukuna loves when you turn into putty by his touch. It takes practically nothing to work you up, and you begin to squeeze around him. He smirks, knowing that it takes nothing for you to be practically screaming his name. Sukuna speaks into your ear, âAlready so excited for me? Do you want more?â
âI need more.â Your voice sounds so demanding and Sukuna laughs. Another hand goes under your nightgown, his fingers focusing on your clit. You loudly moan his name as it all gets too much for you to handle.Â
âIs it too much?â He mocks you as your orgasm builds up, until you finally reach your peak, your legs shaking. Sukuna takes his fingers out, shoving the fingers that were in your cunt into your mouth, making you gag.Â
Sukuna lights a candle, providing some light in the room. You sit up, getting on top of him, undoing his robe. Your body yearns for more, and he smirks since he knows it. You lean down, your lips going on his, your tongue entering his mouth and pressing against his own. When you pull away from the kiss, you mutter, âIâve missed you.â
You raise yourself, aligning the cock on the top with your pussy before slowly pushing yourself down on it. You take a moment to adjust to him since itâs been a while since the last time youâve fucked her. You begin to bounce on him, and Sukuna spits in his palm, grabbing the cock on the bottom and teasing your asshole with the tip.
Sukuna holds you down when he begins to push the other tip in your asshole. Even though youâre expecting a child together, youâre still loud when he fills both of your holes. Itâs too much for you to handle at first, but throughout the time you get used to it.
âTight little cuntââ He groans, and he never thought that he of all people would end up touch deprived. But then he got too scared to hurt you in any way when you knew you were expecting, so he stuck to⊠Nothing. To suppress his dirty thoughts.Â
âMove.â You order, too tired to continue. Sukuna begins to move for you, thrusting slowly in and out of you. He continues at the pace you had set.Â
âIs it good? Youâre making a fucking mess.â He says as he picks up speed. You throw your head back, one hand going down to play with your clit as he thrusts in and out of you.
âItâs so fucking goodââ You answer. Youâve been needing this every single fucking night, and youâre lucky to be receiving it now. Heâs finally giving into your cravings.Â
âYou just love being filled up like a little slut, donât you?â Sukunaâs hand goes up from your bump to your mouth, shoving two fingers into your mouth again. He feels the vibration of your moans through your tongue before you begin to twirl your tongue around his fingers.Â
Sukuna loves the way you take in his cocks, smiling at you at how well you take himâ Of course he wouldnât tell you though. Your hands go to his chest, using it for support as well as subconsciously digging your nails into his skin. It stings for him, but he canât help but love it.
Sukuna does you a favor, his fingers rubbing your clit. Your eyes roll to the back of your head,Â
A second orgasm overtaking you. Sukuna feels you squeezing on both of his cocks, feeling himself get weak.Â
âSukuââ You loudly moan as you reach your second orgasm. Sukuna mocks you for it.
âWhat? Canât handle it?â He asks, your nails digging deeper into his skin. Heâs losing control, his thrusts getting sloppy. Itâs been so long since the last time he did thisâ And when he finishes, he fills both of your holes with so much cum, and you swear youâre in heaven because there is no better feeling than this.Â
When he takes his cocks out, so much cum drips out of you. You end up falling on his chest, him wrapping a pair of large arms around you while another fixes your clothes.Â
âThis is a nice way to apologize for misbehaving.â You comment, and Sukuna scoffs.
âWho said I was apologizing?â Sukuna is frowning, and you lightly smack his face which pisses him off more. He holds your hands so you donât try to do anything more with them.
âIâll take it as an apology.â You tell him. Sukuna wants to laugh, but he manages to keep a poker face. He grabs you up by your hair, putting his lips on yours.Â
âIt was not an apology, woman. Shut your mouth.â
Bonus:
You swear that hell is freezing over because what the hell is the scene youâre witnessing. Youâve never seen Sukuna like this⊠You donât think you are supposed to see him like this.
âWhoâs a headstrong girl?â Sukuna is putting on a baby voice for fuckâs sake. For a daughter that he didnât want. Your baby girl laughs, and he falls in love all over again. Sheâs just so fucking perfectâ With her little eyes, her little nose, her little mouth, her four little arms, her soft pink hair. Sheâs everything to him.
âDo you need anything, Sukuna?â You approach them, but Sukuna pays little attention to you. He keeps looking down at his daughter who lays on your bed. Sheâs in need of a nap but Sukuna doesnât like putting her to bed because sheâs boring then.
âYeah, how do I order another one of these?â He asks, and you furrow your eyebrows in confusion.
âOf what?â You respond, wondering what the hell he talks about.
âAnother daughter.â

Analysis of each character's final words in the new Dark Urge evil ending
If you are romanced to a character, you have the option, when taking the new version of the Sins of the Father ending, to kill your partner in front of the others in your party, killing them with one last kiss. They then give their last words and pass away. I love each and every one and feel they are incredible characterization moments.
So let's break these down!
Lae'zel:
I... I am glad it was you. No other blade would have sufficed.
This is something that hammers home that, Vlaakith or no, Lae'zel deeply believes in all the ideals of a Githyanki. Life is a privilege for the strong, and death is the price of weakness. Further, if romanced, Lae'zel will affectionately call you "the source of my bruises" many times. If she has to die, if she has finally found the one person stronger than herself, then she is "satisfied" that it is you- who she both loved and admired. The only one she would ever consider worthy of besting her.
Karlach:
Fuck you.
Short, simple, and to the point, just the way Karlach does everything else. She's already gone through all her stages of grief with her engine- well, almost all of them. Anger still remains. She burns hot until the end.
Wyll:
I... I forgive you.
This isn't just Wyll being a good guy. This is heartbreak, and guilt. Guilt for not saving you from Bhaal's influence when he was so sure he had. Heartbreak that after he gave his literal soul to save as many people as he could, he couldn't save you- and couldn't save others from you, either. All he sacrificed, negated in an instant by the person he loved and trusted most. Of all the characters here, Wyll (tied with Halsin) sounds the most obviously broken, and it's easy to see why, given that he is self-sacrificing to a fault.
There was a set of scenes datamined from the game, where at the Morphic Pool, the Netherbrain would have taunted the players, causing them to hallucinate things related to their fears and insecurities. Wyll's would have been a vision of himself talking about how he was never a hero, how the Blade of Frontiers was a farce all along. One can't help but think about that scene here, wondering just how much blame, bordering on self-loathing, he might feel here.
Dark Justiciar Shadowheart:
I... I'm coming to you, Lady Shar.
Another short and simple one. By becoming a Dark Justiciar, Shadowheart has fully embraced the nihilism of Shar's teachings. Why be saddened or angry at her own death when this is just what she's embraced with all her sacrifices?
(Sidenote: this does also answer a question I had, namely, what was going to happen to everyone Durge kills. Thankfully it seems they aren't actually going to be sacrificed to him as such, and will indeed end up in the realm of their deities. This makes Bhaal's plan even DUMBER, because deities in DND lore need worshippers to have enough power to exist. Killing everyone at once just guarantees that soon after Durge dies as the last person alive, so too will Bhaal fade from existence.)
Selunite Shadowheart:
I... I thought we were going to save each other...
This Shadowheart rejected everything she knew. She was scared to defy her goddess, but worked up the courage- thanks to you. She thought you would have a new life together. She believed in you. She thought she would get to return the favor, and help you turn the page on Bhaal, too.
She's not just heartbroken for herself; she's heartbroken for you, too. Heartbroken at the life you denied both her and yourself.
Gale:
You made me want to live...
From the moment the orb entered Gale's chest, he knew he was at risk of dying. Then Mystra all but marked him as a dead man walking. But despite that, he finds love with you- and for the first time thinks maybe there is a purpose for him beyond Mystra. That he isn't more useful to the world dead. More than that, he wants to live to be with you, to enjoy your company and companionship. And then you kill him, and do the one thing WORSE than what would have happened if he'd never been pulled from that rock.
It almost would have been kinder to just hack his hand off the first time you met him, though Gale may or may not agree.
Spawn Astarion:
I should have killed you when I had the chance...
The angriest, most bitter response out of all the romanced companions, a step beyond Karlach's "fuck you." This is beyond "fuck you" and even beyond "I hate you." It's "I regret every moment I spent with you." You made him believe he could have better. That he could recover from what Cazador did. You even convinced him to spare the 7,000 spawn and that he could be something better than Cazador.
And now you reveal it was all a lie. Astarion is probably thinking that you talked him out of completing the ritual solely so he'd be easier to kill right here and now. How many regrets are flashing through his mind, how many moments where he wonders if things could have been different if only he'd done this or that, even aside from killing you?
All he wanted was to live as a free person. And then the first time he thinks he has that at last, he loses it as the world ends.
Ascended Astarion:
No... no, this can't be... I can't- you can't- no...
In contrast to spawn Astarion, ascended isn't angry, because he doesn't have the clarity, the ability to process what's happening. Spawn Astarion could tell he'd been betrayed.
But Ascended? Ascended, who went through so much to become one of the most powerful beings in the world, only to STILL lose without fanfare? And by you, his own spawn who he thought he had under his control? It isn't betrayal, because he is bluescreening; he can't comprehend what happened or how or why. How could he have been killed, and by you of all people? Was all he went through killing Cazador really for nothing? How could it be when he was supposed to be the most powerful? Was power actually meaningless all along?
He doesn't say anything of substance because he can't understand what's happening here.
Halsin:
Thaniel... goodbye...
Halsin is the oldest of all the companions. He's experienced the most loss of anyone; his birth family, his fellow Druids, and, for a time, Thaniel. He has had more than enough time to contemplate his own mortality, because he's already lived multiple lifetimes.
So here, two things are happening. One, he isn't expressing anger or betrayal at his murder- because he is more than wise enough, and humble enough, to understand that there are worse things than what has been done to himself. Instead of himself, he is thinking of the world he's leaving behind that is about to fall- and most of all, of his most important person, the one who gave him a purpose, who was there when no one else was, who he failed once and only just got back. The closest thing to a child he'll ever have. In his last moments, instead of himself, Halsin is thinking of those he loves.
And second, it's an almost deliberate snubbing of Durge. He willingly walked into that kiss, knowing full well it would be the last thing he ever did. He gave you his death, he pleaded with his own god to forgive you and him both. He gave you everything he felt he owed you, and no more- no begging or sobbing. Instead, he comes as close as he ever gets to selfishness, and spends his last moments thinking about the thing that makes him the happiest- which could have been you, in another life, if you hadn't done this.
Minthara:
No... we were meant to do this together...
Heartbreak, disbelief, and betrayal. You spent so many nights planning this out. She had been cast aside by her people, her goddess, and she was going to get the last laugh. She was going to crush them personally under her heel and prove she was the best (or second best, behind you) of all of them. She's devastated she won't get to help you torture all those souls and take what she feels was owed to her. But interestingly enough... no anger. Probably because it was overshadowed by the sheer heartbreak, but also a sign that even in those moments, she still admires you for your ruthlessness.

I find Sarcastic Chorus's video on why he's quitting Helluva Boss really interesting but I'm kind of baffled by the number of people straight up not understanding his reasoning for quitting. I think it's interesting how both his video and the online reaction to it is basically the consequences of modern fandoms treating art like its something to mindlessly consume and not worth analyzing and critiqing, or else you're consuming it "wrong".
Like his argument isn't that he hates the show or that he was forcing himself to criticize the show, in fact one of his main problems was that he couldn't be MORE honest in his reviews because of how fans would react to it. The problem was that when your job is to analyze a show, and it has way too many problems to ignore, and you're dealing with a hyper-sensitive fanbase that's hostile to criticism, you end up feeling exhausted or flat out disinterested in reviewing it.
I actually find it really concerning that fans are coping so hard with him quitting that they're framing it like its his problem because he was "looking for problems on purpose" when it was pretty obvious that it genuinely makes him kind of miserable trying to pick apart the show's issues. I remember when he was SO confident that Hazbin Hotel would be amazing and "prove the haters wrong" only for him to acknowledge that it was a complete mess. I'm honestly more confused by the fans who watch a reviewer and then get mad when he... reviews things. It's not even that they disagree with him, but the audacity to even point out very noticeable flaws in the product is enough to set them off and accuse him of being a clout chaser and a hater. Like do you want to see a review or did you just want to watch someone lie to you and blindly praise a series for 30 minutes, because i find it really odd that so many fans are insistent that he should've done the latter.
I also got pretty annoyed by this insistence that he wouldn't have turned on this show if he didnt criticize it and "turned his brain off" instead which is the same stupid excuse people gave for Hazbin's sloppy writing. and I just find that just... baffling? Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, as extremely flawed as they are, are clearly shows made with the clear intention of being taken seriously. Ffs the crew calls Helluva Boss "queer Bojack Horseman". Helluva Boss tackles topics like abuse, trauma, classism, racism, toxic relationships and redemption and Hazbin Hotel tackles themes like sexual trauma and abuse, redemption and religious oppression. But the problem is that both shows do it so poorly that people genuinely think that it's meant to be slop content that you're just supposed to turn your brain off and listen to.
I'm not going to forget when these fans were treating Helluva Boss's season 1 like peak queer representation and writing and insistent that Angel Dust was this amazingly well written gay male character that people only hated because he was messy and imperfect. Honestly kind of funny that I was chastised for saying that Angel Dust is just a sex joke only for the show, the crew, the merch, and even the damn playbill reduce him to just that. Slapping on trauma (especially knowing that its more of a fetish than a genuine exploration on male sexual abuse) doesn't really negate the fact that Angel Dust is poorly written. Side note: his fans are way too unhinged and aggressive, its getting very weird.
So its funny to me that now that Helluva Boss season 2 completely nose dived and Hazbin Hotel is a sloppy mess that feels more geared for children than adults, that now people are being told they're not allowed to analyze these shows or even pay attention to their problems, and are treated like idiots for doing so.
I think the problem is that I kind of think fans also notice the lowered quality of writing in both shows. because why aren't people actually defending the writing and character progression? instead of "Sarcastic Chorus is wrong because his criticism is incorrect and misses these points" its "Sarcastic Chorus is wrong because he should have shut his brain off and treated these shows like its cocomelon for adults"
#txt#deeply fascinating fandom. lol if i had a fanbase treat my tv show like this id be so annoyed#imagine doing all that hard work and effort only for your fans to be like 'oh no guys its bad on PURPOSE youre not supposed to analyze it!'

My friend was watching the show for the first time and they brought up a misconception that I think we see a lot in fandom. So I want to talk about The Gamblers Den and specifically this scene in particular:
My friend genuinely wondered what Hua Cheng would do and then when they heard his explanation they were even more confused:
They basically messaged me saying, wait Hua Cheng would have made the bet. He bets peopleâs lives and some how Xie Lian is okay with that. How???
And to anyone else whoâs thinking the same thing or falling for the Demon King vibe Hua Cheng is trying to sell here I am here to tell you, you have all been duped.
Whatâs import to understand is that Ghost City actually came from making one of Xie Lianâs ideas work:
Xie Lian is talking about a specialised market here, a place where the common people couldnât just stumble into without reason and thatâs what Ghost City is and The Gambers Den is the foundation of it. While Xie Lian didnât say hey go gamble, Hua Cheng is taking a risk and playing into his greatest strength and then showing of for his crush is the most dramatic way possible when talking about it.
For Hua Cheng the house always wins! Literally. Or at least what he wants the bet to be will always happen. His luck is just that good. If the gambler wins itâs genuinely because Hua Cheng let him.
In the Den he is acting as Judge and Jury with Xie Lian as his moral code but he canât just turn down the deals. If he does then these people could go to less safe options (looking at you Qi Rong) to get what they desire which negates the reason he built Ghost City in the first place.
Hua Cheng has to let these people play by his rules if he wants to follow his Gods wishes. So he has to be creative and look at loop holes, phrasing and Xie Lians most important teaching finding the third path.
For this moment specifically giving the options I think Hua Cheng would have taken the 20 years of his daughterâs life. Why you may ask? Well the phrasing is easier to manipulate. While the eradication of his competitors is pretty well laid 20 years of his daughters life is pretty vague.
Option 1) Hua Cheng could take her away from her shit father and put her in an apprenticeship and marry a man of her choosing since her hand is now her own to decide since Hua Cheng doesnât want it.
Option 2) She has to work in Ghost City for 20 years and is married to Yin Yu in name only (because Hua Cheng canât have a wife at all or he wonât win Gege) then gets pleasantly divorced and giving a severance payment after 20 years.
Option 3) He could decide life is a vague term and after she dies she has to spend 20 years in Ghost City and matchmake a future marriage between her and another ghost.
Option 4) He could decide what she has to do with the next twenty years of her life which could include an actual good marriage and education. Where she has to worship his shrine and be only his devotee for 20 years.
Option 5) He can literally say Iâll collect when I decide and never cash in.
He can do anything because the wording is so fluent and for Hua Cheng debater and Civil God Killer itâs probably easy. Heâs not a demon king, heâs a crafty trickster spirit basically a fae lord.
Heâs playing the system and heâs winning thatâs what Xie Lian figured out and why he supports it. He knows Hua Cheng well enough even back then to trust that he would make the right decision because he believes in Hua Cheng and heâs right too.

how do you think a fight would take place with lads boys? like how it progresses and then silent treatment and the yearning to make up and actually making up
Fights
Warnings: Angsty with a blip of spice in Rafayelâs part. Happy endings because I donât want to be sad anymore ïżœïżœ
Fights with Zayne are almost always about your health. How youâre not sleeping enough or eating right, despite the advice he gives you. He may be your boyfriend but heâs also your doctor. He just wants the best for you.
The silent treatment starts on his end, giving you one worded answers and generally ignoring you. If you didnât care about your health, why should he? Except, it would progress worse and worse because youâre both stubborn-headed, to the point he decided to go home instead of staying over at your place like usual. It was then you conceded defeat.
Yes, he was worried about your health and safety, as both a doctor and a boyfriend. But he didnât have to be so rightâŠ
In the end, you guys come to a compromise. Youâll get a normal amount of sleep, and heâll lay off scolding you. Fights with Zayne arenât without valid reasons. But, you guys always end up talking it out in the end.
Oh boy. Fights with Rafayel? Explosive. Theyâre mostly because of his flirty nature and the fact he canât seem to take anything seriously. As a Hunter protecting Linkon City, you have to be steadfast and vigilant. Rafayel takes things by the moment with little thought or control, like a dumpster on fire. It gets worse when he brushes you off.
I think the fight wouldnât officially start until you get back at him for being overly flirty with a patron. You decided to flirt with an art critic in front of him, fueling the fire for a later fight. The night continues with petty passes and glares across the room. When you get home, all hell breaks loose.
Screaming match, barely coherent, words that couldnât be taken back. Itâs a wonder you guys are still together. When you tear up and finally had enough, you grab your coat to leave when he grabs you by your shirt and yanks you in for a smoldering kiss.
Makeup sex ensues. Clothes are practically burned off as you vent out your frustrations through each others bodies. In the morning your both groggy, but have a clearer head than last night, able to talk things through more effectively. He loves you and you love himâ your love can be too fiery for your own good. But that doesnât mean you donât try to work through it.
Fighting with Xavier can be hard because he genuinely doesnât understand why youâre so mad at him. Yes, he disappeared for a week without telling you, but he was hunting Wanderers. Isnât that such a noble cause that it negates the fact you were mad at him in the first place? Turns out no, because you want to be communicated with and not scared half to death when you donât hear from him for a week.
Itâs hard to stay mad at him, but you have to stay strong. If this relationship was going to work, he needed to communicate with you. You laid down your boundaries now it was his turn to understand and accept. But until then, silent treatment.
Xavier would end up at your door looking like a kicked puppy. It had been four days into the silent treatmentâ how did he like that? Not being communicated with, pacing back and forth wondering if your partner was safe? It wasnât fun, huh? He would apologize, admitting he was wrong for disappearing while desperately waiting for a long needed hug from his significant other. You give it to him, happy he understood your feelings.
Perhaps you could have handled things better, but youâre learning. Xavierâs learning too! You just have to explain it to him in a way heâll understand.

Hey buzzword crowd, here's the simplest, most basic way I could put the core of the problem that imo is happening between you people and most of the fandom..
(won't call you Shippers here because I know some shippers who don't use your language or agree with your opinions )
This is also me trying to convey what I believe is why people have problems with you people's essays & posts (because it is not the ship that most people have problem with, I'll elaborate) maybe this will help prevent future toxicity..
Spoiler it has everything to do with the respect you give other people & their blorbos and nothing to do with everyone except you all being anti-feminist, anti-sex, anti-shipping, anti-biotic, anti-ageing, anti-oxidant, anti-body etc etc etc..
I'll use 3 characters and 5 points, here we go!
(Ditch the namecalling and insults before you interact)
(again this is my opinion & interpretation of the situation)
1. Elrond in Adar's Tent
If you read it as Sauron as Elrond
What it adds to the story: one ship & it's characters' dynamics with each other and othes in that tent
What it takes away from the story: Elrond coming to himself as a leader, his quick thinking, his skill with words and politics, the growth of his character
What it gives Galadriel: a non consenting kiss & more ship dynamics
What it takes away from Galadriel: her friend saying sorry for treating her horribly through out S2
If you read it as Elrond in the tent
What it adds to the story: a young man coming into himself as a future leader, a friend realising his mistake and asking for forgiveness, a half elf being reminded that he has a powerful Maia in his family (he isn't less than any elf lord)
What it takes away from the story: nothing imo because the siege still happens and it doesn't negate Sauron & Galadriel's S1 dynamics so Your ship can still sail
What it gives Galadriel: she gets the apology she deserved and reconciliation with her friend
What it takes away from Galadriel: a non con kiss
You see how your interpretation of this as canon erases a whole character and his arc but the version most Elrond fan's prefer doesn't affect your ship a bit..
Now this interpretation wouldn't have been a problem if you all weren't framing your posts as feminist & show canon & the correct way of interpreting media & then start name calling & insulting anyone and everyone who disagrees.
Just like you guys don't like the show haters on reddit etc trying to disrespect you & the whole Haladriel dynamics, other fan's also don't like to be called assholes, misogynists, conservatives & Haters etc etc for simply liking the show in another way.
2. Celebrimbor and the elven rings
If you read it as Sauron's engagement rings
What it adds to the story: one ship's dynamics
What it takes away from the story: Celebrimbor's part in their creation & his talents as the greatest Elven smith of his time, the show runners statments that Sauron is not there when the rings are being actually forged
What it gives Galadriel: a personalised ring specifically for her from her enemy and all the dynamics of it
What it takes away from Galadriel: her knowledge, her trust in her family member Celebrimbor.. all of which backs her claim that the rings are untouched by Sauron
If you read it as Celebrimbor's elven rings made with Sauron's help
What it adds to the story: Celebrimbor's hardwork, his skills that he has in part learned from his grandfather THE Feanor of Noldor, his ambition, his Feanorian hubris, his partnership of equals with Annatar, call back to his love for Galadriel in a version by Tolkien (for Nenya seeming to choose Galadriel)
What it takes away from the story: a plot hole imo of Sauron having the skill to make rings of power all by himself this early in the story & not using that to make the other rings alone.. still doesn't invalidate any of Galadriel & Halbrand dynamics so Your ship can still sail
What it gives Galadriel: a correct opinion about the nature of the rings that all her people eventually come to agree with
What it takes away from Galadriel: a mistake imo which is either not correctly judging the nature of the rings or knowing and still risking the future of all middle earth by insisting every time that the rings are safe
You see how wanting the rings to Not Be engagment rings doesn't do any harm to your ship and it's dynamics & neither does it reduce Sauron's talents as a Smith.. he is still a Maia who worked under Aulë and helped in Creation Of The World & who will go on to make the One.
But constantly saying that the rings are Sauron's engagement rings erases the whole point of Celebrimbor as a character.. not to mention his talents that Sauron needed to make the other rings and Celebrimbor's input that also helps him in making the One.
And understandaby Celebrimbor fans don't like this interpretation that reduces & erases him. But nobody would have had problems if again you guys weren't framing your headcanon essays as absolute feminist truths & calling other takes Bad Takes.
3. Nenya healing Adar
If you read it as Nenya giving him redemption by fixing his evilness
What it adds to the story: a plot hole with this magic healing ability that can fix everything and everyone who falls to darkness and evil, making way for sauron to find quick redemption
What it takes away from the story: a realistic worldview where individual choices have impact not only on the person themselves but also to everyone around them, an understanding of how healing works irl
What it gives Galadriel: a mistake for not giving away a ring of power to Sauron to heal him
What it takes away from Galadriel: her wisdom that one cannot heal another person out of their evil or mistakes (heal yourself)
If you read it as Adar gets redemption because of choosing to see his mistakes & trying to correct them after being healed by Nenya out of the torture and dark magic that turned him into uruk
What it adds to the story: Adar's commendable ability to see his huge mistakes and accept them infront of his enemy & try to fix them
What it takes away the story: the ability of the rings to heal Sauron
because in this reading it requires acceptance to look your mistakes in the eye & choice to do better that redeems a person which Sauron in show gets many chances to do but doesn't repeatedly. This still doesn't invalidate Sauron & Galadriel's dynamics so Your ship can still sail
What it gives Galadriel: an example that if someone who was under the shadow for so long as Adar can come to the light by choosing to accept their mistakes then she too despite her tryst with darkness can still come to the light by acceptance if she chooses
What it takes away from Galadriel: the burden of healing her abuser
Again reading Adar's redemption as his own achievement doesn't affect your ship at all & neither does it prevent Sauron from ever getting redeemed. It just gives him a truer to life way to get redeemed someday; even makes his future redemption more compelling imo.
But when you make the redemption all about Nenya it takes away the little good this already tragic & tortured character of Adar has. Add that to the usual insensitive framing & you'll get Me in response, an Adar fan fuming.
4. Adar's villian arc
If you read him as solely a villain
What it adds to the story: another villian
What it takes away from the story: Sauron's narrative foil and all the complexity that has been put into his character from his introduction in S1
What it gives Galadriel: a mistake imo it makes Galadriel's pity & understanding of the suffering of Adar & Uruk a mistake if he is only a villain & does everything wrong in all lights.
What it takes away from Galadriel: an example of what becomes of people who accept darkness despite love still existing in their heart and also an example of how good intentions and horrible actions can go hand in hand
If you read him as a morally grey character who had a villain's arc in one light but an anti-hero's arc in another light
What it adds to the story: a complex character that creates an emotional connection with some people who might see flashes of their persecution in the Uruk, a character who grounds the story in real world by having elements of freedom fighters & rebels choosing wrong paths in desperation, a great portrayal of the Cycle of Abuse creating abusers out of some victims
What it takes away from the story: a similar or less complex villian than Sauron but doesn't affect the dynamics of Sauron & Galadriel so Your ship can still sail
Again see how having Adar as not fullly a villain doesn't affect even a bit of your ship. It also doesn't affect Sauron and his existence as a compelling villian with a repentance arc & some good intention behind all the deception. You can still read good in Sauron's actions, Adar doesn't need to be a villain to make Sauron's goodness more visible.
But your insistence that he can only be read as a villain & people who see him as anything else are supporting genocide can irk Adar fans because the scenes showing his good traits exist & were placed conciously & weren't a collective hallucination.
5. Gay Adar being forced into ships with women
This one I'll just simply say.. The people who insist that he's gay are also the ones I see that say his relationship with Sauron was only one sided where Adar was in love but Sauron wasn't.
Here are my problems with this reading:
Adar is queercoded.. the showrunners' interview from SDCC mentions LGBTQIA+ & we all assume it was about him right..
Nowhere is it specificed that he's gay.. why can't he be Bisexual? Pansexual? Or something else or just Queer who doesn't want to be labelled by anything?
Why is this one specific way of reading him so important to you by invalidating everyone else's reading when nothing is concrete canon about this anyway?
Why can't all kinds of people from LGBTQIA+ explore their sexuality via Adar just like you all like to explore female sexuality & dark fantasies etc via Galadriel & Sauron? Because it isn't wrong in anyway I agree, I used to ship them too in S1. And most people you call names every day will agree with that too!
All this was the long way of saying, if you'll be mean to people, their reading of the story, their fav characters and their author.. some will retaliate in the same way.
It's not because they hate your ship or women or women's sexuality or villain ships or gays etc etc etc it's just simply about the respect you give out into the world & the ability to differentiate between fans of the show who like other things than you and Haters of the show.
#was going to be my off day but the offensive language i keep on seeing here today has made me do this controversial thing#trop#rings of power#the rings of power#rop#galadriel#adar#celebrimbor#sauron#elrond#my ramblings

Last one about TUA season 4, for now.
(I talked about this in the tags of one of my RBs before but I wanted to elaborate)
I don't like how they keep trying to make Five a badass.
I find it especially frustrating as doing this constantly, bogs down any form of character development we could've had from Five.
For whatever reason, the writers seem to be allergic to acknowledging Five's biggest character flaw, his arrogance. Five always has to be right. He always has to be capable of everything and never needs any help. Despite the fact that Diego also has a very similar flaw (and is punished for it consistently), Five's seems to go completely untouched.
(A part of me thinks that the reason why they punish Diego so much more is because he comes off as the hot-headed impulsive one. While that's true, it certainly doesn't negate Five's ability to make mistakes or be incompetent)
Instead, they keep trying to invent a new flaw for Five in that; he is obsessed with the apocalypse. In reality, he's not obsessed with the apocalypse. He's obsessed with keeping his family safe. It just so happens that their most immediate threat (in his eyes) tends to be the apocalypse. (I really don't understand what they're trying to get at with this, especially considering the fact that he already has an extremely apparent flaw)
While this isn't an issue I take with season 4 specifically, it has definitely amplified this issue like crazy. Five's arrogance is vaguely addressed by his siblings in season 1, but it never seems to get him in trouble? Or at least he doesn't seem to have learned from it (except for the time-travelling thing from when he was 13, and when he bled out also in season 1)
Season 1 (and 2) handled it the best out of the four. Five never seems to ask for or accept help unless backed into a corner (telling Viktor about the apocalypse, asking Klaus to help him get the prosthetic eye). Or if he is literally incoherent or unconscious (him passing out from blood loss, him being drunk and telling Diego and Luther about what's happening).
And outside of that, Five's arrogance still had brutal consequences within this season (him not noticing Viktor's declining mental state because he was so sure about the apocalypse (but this was partially because this man tunnel-visions like crazy)).
(there are probably more instances of this with s1 & 2, i just can't think of them off the top of my head so tag them if you'd like)
Season 4 is extra mean with this. From the 'Five getting to work for the CIA at 19' to 'Five randomly figuring out what's causing the end of the world with a bunch of other Five's' while he was off moping.
And when he does make mistakes, it's not because he's actually not capable of everything and anything.
Noooo, Ben really really sneakily stole the marigold and spiked the sake. Five couldn't have possibly noticed. (and none of the other siblings for that matter)
Noooo, it's because Luther is actually super smart in figuring out that Five's boss is a Keeper (no shade to Luther btw, I like him. They just don't treat this moment as Five being a complete dumbass).
Oh no! Five (and Lila) can't figure out a way back from the metro! Never mind, another Five managed it.
Five being a homewrecker? That's him being an asshole, not incompetent so it doesn't count (lighthearted).
Five's arrogance one of his defining flaws, yet it's not really challenged. The fact that he gets away with a lot of bullshit is simply because he can! When he doesn't face failure, he doesn't find growth. He doesn't learn to stop being self-destructive just because he thinks he can do anything. He doesn't learn to reach out.
This stunt in growth is obviously not only present in Five but also everyone else. I just find his to be particularly grating since he's my favorite.
Feel free to add your thoughts to this, not just about Five's fucked up character growth but everyone else's too!
(I'll make long a ass post/video essay going into detail about all of them one of these days)
I'd love to read them :)

Hello !! I wish u a happy Valentine's Day >< love it writing ;)
Can I request Best Friends with feelings Sumero boys(+wanderer) reacting to gn!reader being gifted here and there all day bc it's Valentine's day?
Thank u! U can ignore this if I don't want to write :)
Happy belated Valentine's Day! Hope everyone had a nice day celebrating with their loved ones, be it romantically or platonically<3 Characters Included: Tighnari; Cyno; Alhaitham; Kaveh; Wanderer Content: gender neutral reader; no established relationship; the boys are getting jealous; fluff; love confessions..?; not proofread yet Word count: 2,6k words Enjoy<3
Tighnari
he loves the fact that one of his closest friends actually works with him, which means that you can see each other on a regular basis
not like Cyno or Kaveh, who he sometimes doesn't see in days or weeks, depending on their workload
Tighnari enjoys working with you, but not just because he's friends with you. You complement each other, his strenghts negate your weaknesses, and vice versa. When he's stuck in his research on some specific topic, you offer him some insight from a different perspective that he otherwise would probably have never even considered
Plus, you're very easy to talk to, and just an overall fun person to be around. It's no wonder he'd want to be your friends.
So it's also no wonder that one day, he realizes that his feelings for you go much deeper than just friendship
Is he gonna do anything about it, though?
No. At least, not right away
He's let it sit and sink for a while, come to terms with the fact that he actually likes you in that way, and that it's not just some fleeting crush. He'd plan to tell you eventually, but much to his dismay, he forgot what time it was while he was pondering about his feelings for you
Valentine's Day was here, and of course, he's heard plenty of talk among his fellow forest rangers. He knows that many of them plan to ask you out, thinking that it'd be the right time
He realized what day it was when the first one came up to you and handed you a self crafted bracelet that you gladly accepted. Tighnari watched the interaction take place intently, yet swallowed down his feelings
But then another one came up to you... and another.. with every person that came to you, handing you gifts and trying to flirt with you, his anger at them rose, and he couldn't take it any longer
With an annoyed tone, he pushed all his responsibilities aside for today, went over to you and grabbed your hand, almost demanding of you to accompany him to the city, since he claimed he had some important errands to run and needed your help with them. In truth, he just wanted you as far away from all of the attention from other people as quickly as possible
His lie became obvious pretty fast when he made no attempts to actually go to Sumeru City with you, but you'd already realised why he did what he did, yet decided not to comment on it
the two of you took a stroll along a close by river, and after some time, sitting down and just watching the nature around you
Not many words are spoken, but it's also not neccassary
he has a feeling that you're aware of his feelings for you now, as well. But he won't say anything to you just yet. He needs some more time, but you can be sure that you won't have to wait too long..
Cyno
I see him as one of those people who are not to keen about Valentine's day. To him, it's just a day like anyone else. He's also one of those people that would voluntarily work that day
He's never understood the appeal of it. Why celebrate one special day with your partner, when you can show your love and affection for them any given day? Why safe it for one day in the whole year?
Not that he has a partner to begin with, but it's the whole concept about it that just irks him
however, there is a certain someone that Cyno has had feelings for, for quite some time now. A certain someone that was a desert dweller just like him. Who came with him to the City at a young age and who he stayed friends with all those years
You and Cyno go way back, having been friends with him since you were kids. When he was leaving the desert, he couldn't stand the thought of leaving behind the only person he ever knew and trusted, so he convinced you to go with him. Not like anything was holding you in the desert to begin with, so you agreed
Cyno has come to terms with his feelings for you a long time ago, but has yet to make any move on you. Sure, he's dropped some hints here and there, and made some - very poor - attempts at flirting with you, but you never picked up on any of it
and now, he kinda regretted never telling you more specifically. As every other Valentine's day before, Cyno was working this one, too
he was currently on his way to track some hints he'd gotten, leaving the Academiya, when he catched a glimpse of you, standing on the platform before the Academiya building, surrounded by people
he froze in his steps, deciding to stick around and see what was going on. And it didn't take long until he figured it out..
from the people surrounding you, many were offering you gifts, holding them in front of you and begging you to accept them, while you smile shyly and try to appease as many of them as possible
quickly, jealousy was rising within him, but also his protective side started to show. He knew you disliked crowds, never having the courage to deny people of anything, so he knew you had a hard time right now
without another thought, he rushed to your side, putting an arm around you protectively, while he scared away the crowd under some made up excuse
as soon as they were gone and you had your space again, you let out a relieved breath, thanking him for getting you out of this
Cyno stares at you for a second before looking away again, then claiming that he'd walk with you until you were home safe. Just to make sure that no one else would bother you
on the way there, he's thinking hard. This incident showed him, that he'd have to step up and confess his feelings to you, soon. Or someone else might get ahead of him and snatch you away. And he couldn't let that happen..
Alhaitham
another one who I think wouldn't be too big on Valentine's day, but he'd be much more indifferent about it
much like Cyno, he sees no sense in picking out one "special" day in the year to celebrate love when you can just do it whenenver
however, he does begin to see at least some appeal to the thing when he develops feelings for you, one of his best friends
he loves that he can just spend time with you in silence. That you don't always have the need to converse with him, and instead just enjoy the presence of each other while each of you might be doing their own thing still
however, it still takes Alhaitham some time to accept that he's having these types of feelings for you, so you can't expect a confession from him anytime soon, either
he tries to approach his feelings with logic first, but he comes to realize that logic does not help him in the slightest with this particular "problem"
so instead, he decideds to throw logic out the window for this one and instead settles on the plan to use the upcoming valentine's day this year to actually confess how he feels to you
after talking to a bunch of people about different ideas for gifts, he decides to go with what seems to be the "standard", some flowers and chocolates
he plans on gifting them to you after your shift for the day is done and you're heading home, since he comes by and walks you home from time to time, so it wouldn't be weird for Alhaitham to show up
however, as he arrives, he becomes witness to a scene, similar to what he had planned to do. A man in front of you, asking you to accept his flowers as he asks you out on a date
Alhaitham's heart immediately drops, and he finds himself frozen in place, unable to do anything about it. The only thing he can do, is watch as you laugh awkwardly at the guy and then kindly decline him
seeing you reject him gives him some hope again, and he watches the guy leave first before he approaches you, his gifts for you hidden under his cloak. Even if you rejected him, he was now hesitating wether it was a good idea to actually follow through with his plan
the same exact thing then happened four more times while he was walking you home. Some random person would approach you on the street and hand you some form of a Valentine's present. And every time, you'd kindly turn them down with an uncomfortable smile
seeing the interactions both gave him relief - as you were always rejecting them - but also made him feel more anxious
in the end, when the two of you arrived at your home, he had half a mind to just not say anything at all and just let it go. But then, another thought entered his head that he couldn't ignore away. What if, if he was to forego his chance now, someone else would show up who you'd ultimately agree to go out with?
he couldn't let this happen, not without shooting his own shot, at least
so, before you close the door on him, he stops you, and very awkwardly pulls the flower and chocolates out from under his cloak, handing them to you
he sees the surprise morph into your expression, as he's anxiously waiting for your answer...
Kaveh
I personally think that Kaveh would be very obvious if he has a crush on someone. Wether that be a close friend or someone he doesn't personally know, he's easy to figure out
he wears his heart on the tongue and is very expressive, so one simple question is often enough to figure out what he thinks about certain people
so, it was obvious to you, and everyone around him, that Kaveh has been having feelings for his best friend, You
has he done anything about that or plans on doing anything?
No.
as much as he's aware of his feelings, he also has no idea how to go about it. How would he ask you out in the first place? And why, for all Archon's sake, would you even say yes to him in the first place?
He has to come to terms with that question and many similar ones first, before he feels like he's ready to ask you out
unluckily for him, you're quite an impatient person, and waiting around for him to do something, when you've already dropped so many hints that you liked him, too, was just too damn exhausting
however, luckily for you, Valentine's day was just around the corner, and maybe, you could use that to your advantage..
that day, you'd ask Kaveh to accompany you on a stroll through the city, to get him out of his little office that he's been cramped up in recently to finish a project of his
he gladly took the offer, figuring that he could really use the fresh air. He always loved to spend time with you, talking and laughing with you about anything and everything that came to your minds
however, he noticed that on this particular day, people seemed to approach you every so often, with roses in their hands, engaging in conversations with you that Kaveh stepped away from, not wanting to eavesdrop on private matters
still, he inwardly scoffs to himself. What are these people even trying to achieve? Don't they know that roses aren't even your favourite flowers?
But the more he looks around the city, he slowly comes to realize what kind of day it is today
Now the roses also made sense... and now he could also figure why they were all approaching you, probably to ask you out
And, why wouldn't they? You were a catch, no matter which angle one were to look from. Anyone would be lucky to be able to call you their partner, but.. Kaveh wanted it to be himself, not some random person who doesn't even know you as much as he does
the more people talk to you, the more jealous Kaveh grows as the day goes on, yet he never says anything about it or to you. He just intently watches everyone that dares come closer to you, narrowing his eyes on them, like they just personally offeneded him
once the day is over, Kaveh then locks himself into his office, trying to come up with the most elaborate plan to ask you out. He wanted it to be something grande, something that would be better than anything anyone had ever done for you, that would outdo all the gifts and presents you'd gotten today... and once the plan is set, he'll be making it happen as soon as possible..
Wanderer
not fond about this holiday. At all
he hates how stuck up people can get with their feelings. Why did they have to make a celebration out of it and shove it down everyone's throat?
scoffs loudly whenever he sees a couple act all cutesy and stuff on Valentine's day. It doesn't really bother him all that much on any other day, but that specific day? He hates it
he also hates you. You may be his best - and only - friend, but he hates the way you make him feel sometimes
he tries to deny it for a very long time, chalking it up to some malefunction of his body, but there comes a point in his life where he can no longer deny the feelings he has for you
much to his dismay, the day he'd make that realization just had to be Valentine's day... the fucking irony. Celestia really must hate him
He didn't think anything of it when he invited you to join him for some leisure stroll outside Sumeru City that day. He's waiting for you before Lambad's tavern, impatiently tapping his fingers against his crossed arms
finally, he notices you, but just as he was about to call out to you, he notices someone else approach you and engaging in a conversation with you
the Wanderer had half a mind to walk over there and pull you away, because how dare you make him wait even longer? But then, that person hands you a flower, gifting it to you, and he froze seeing you accept it
soon enough, you'd part ways with that person and finally join the Wanderer, but by that time, his mood has already turned sour
he still goes on that stroll with you, but the entire time, he basically ignores you as he tries to figure out why he feels so frustrated by this interaction. Why would you accept flowers from a lowlife like that? Wasn't he enough for you?
As soon as that thought entered his mind, his eyes widened and he knew he was screwed, that he'd somehow caught feelings for you. But realizing it, and admiting to it, are two completely different things
when you two return to Sumeru City, he witnesses two other people approach and do the same thing, gifting you a flower each that you accept with a kind smile
and with every interaction he sees, his anger and resentment towards them grows and grows
he can't deal with it any longer, so he leaves the scene without any further explanation
he'd have a lot of thinking to do, as well as coming to terms with some things. You wouldn't see him for a while, even if you were to seek him out. He just needed to do this on his own, because the next time he sees you, he plans on making you his, no matter what it would take..

how to use ăăăăïŒăăăȘă "isn't it?"
if you've been listening to people speak japanese casually, you've probably heard these conversational sentence-final particles! here i'll go over the difference between the two and then give their usages and example sentences. èĄăăïŒ
wait, doesn't ăăăȘă just mean "not"?
you would be right about that! but as with lots of things in spoken language, intonation is key here. compare these two sentences in english:
it isn't pretty. (falling intonation)
isn't it pretty? (rising intonation)
clearly, these two sentences mean different things. they use different intonation, but even more obviously, the words come in different ordersâin european languages, that's one of the easiest ways to tell a statement from a question. but as we know, in japanese, questions are made without moving words around; so, intonation alone with have to do the job! now, compare these two:
ăăăăăăȘăă (falling intonation) = it isn't pretty.
ăăăăăăȘăïŒ (rising intonation) = isn't it pretty? / it's pretty, don't you think?
thanks to the rising intonation in the second sentence, instead of negation, we get a tag question. so if you're reading instead of listening, watch out for situations where you might have to guess or intuit what the intonation of the sentence is!
the difference between ăăăă and ăăăăȘă
in terms of their conversational meaning or usage, these two particles are the same. however, in terms of "indexing" and social cues, ăăă is a bit more casual and ăăăȘă can have a feminine tone. compare these sentences:
ăăăăăăïŒ (casual)
ăăăăăăȘăïŒ (casual, feminine)
ăăăăăăȘăă§ăăïŒ (a bit more polite)
these sentences all feel very conversational, but depending on how you want to present yourself you might pick one over the others.
also, it's worth noting that ăăă only has the conversational usage: no matter the intonation, it can't mean "not" in regular statements (as far as i've seen, anyway!).
what's the difference between ăăăăïŒăăăȘă and ăă?
both these sentence-final particles ask for agreement or confirmation, as in these two sentences:
ăăăăăăïŒ
ăăăă ăă
both of these could be translated as "isn't it pretty?" or similar. however, the tag question denoted by ăăăă is stronger than the tag question denoted by ăă. in other words, ending with ăăă is more like an actual question than ending with ă.
for example, if you said ăăăăăăïŒ, you might be expecting your conversation partner to have had some expectation subverted. maybe you're looking at modern art, and they had initially expressed a disinterest in modern art; saying ăăăăăăïŒ leaves more room for them to change their opinion or even to disagree with you.
on the other hand, ăăăă ă is tantamount to a gentle statement, like you already know your conversation partner will agree with you. you might say ăăăă ă while overlooking a ç”¶æŻ (ăăŁăă = superb view) such as ćŻćŁ«ć±± (ă”ăăă = mt. fuji) or ç”ç¶æč (ăłăă = lake biwa). after all, who could ever not find those ăăă!
addendum: ăăăă with falling intonation
i watch someone on youtube who makes lots of designs in animal crossing, and when she is satisfied with a layout she often says ăăăăăăïŒă, meaning "isn't that great!" or similar. but why is she using ăăă if she isn't actually asking for confirmation?
this seems to be an instance of a rhetorical tag question. in particular, the intonation of her ăăăăăs is falling, so it doesn't sound like a question. instead, she's making an exclamation out of a question. this is similar to what we might do in english with an exclamation like "isn't that great!", where we might pitch the sentence as a statement instead of a question. (and, to be totally clear, this person also says ăăăăăăăȘăïŒă a lot too!)
äŸæ (ăăă¶ă = example sentences)
é«ïŒăăïŒăăăăăȘăïŒ = don't you think that's a bit expensive? ăăźèŸșïŒăžăïŒăŻç„瀟ïŒăăăăïŒăć€ăïŒăăăïŒăăăȘăïŒ = aren't there a lot of shrines around here? çČăăŠïŒă€ăăăŠïŒăăăăăăȘăïŒ = aren't you tired? (don't you just want to go apeshit?) ć
šç¶ïŒăăăăïŒèŸăïŒăăăïŒăȘăăăăïŒ = it's not spicy at all, right? ăăă°ă§ăăăăăïŒ = you can do it if you try! ă ăăèšăŁăïŒăăŁăïŒăăăïŒ = it's like i already told you!
summary
in summary, ăăăăïŒăăăȘă are casual conversational particles you can use to make a tag question like "isn't it?" or "don't you think?", and they tend to have a rising intonation. of course, there are complications and exceptions to everything in language, so keep your eyes peeled and you'll definitely see more interesting usages of these particles!
as always, feel free to send me an ask if you have any questions/thoughts. ăăăăŒïŒ

Controversial opinion but I think Lucifer gets babied too much by the fandom. Like I get that he has mental health issues but seeing all this fanmedia of women and men of color nannying this white-adjacent man who has been shown to be an incompetent and absent husband, father and leader. Just. Grinds my gears.
Not saying I hate Lucifer but... when people frame past radiostatic with current radioapple as a huge upgrade, it reeks of a woman leaving her abusive ex for a neglectful husband. While I'm glad Lucifer is a step up from Adam, I need to see actual improvements if I don't want to get the ick.
Agreed.
I massively agree.
Lucifer gets babied a lot. And like you said, yes, he has mental health issues and that's valid, but a lot of the time, it feels like his mental health issues become a scapegoat for his flaws and bad behavior.
Depression is a legit reason for Lucifer to struggle to maintain relationships and reach out to those he cares about. As someone who has suffered from depression, I understand pulling away from people, feeling like you need a reason to reach out to someone, having a negative opinion of oneself, getting overwhelmed with anxiety, even ignoring other people's attempts at reaching out to you because it's just...too hard and it's too much and you're stuck in this cycle that you can't break out of.
HOWEVER
Lucifer's depression doesn't take away from the fact that he's neglected Charlie as a parent. It doesn't negate the fact that he has acted condescendingly towards her and her ambitions. It doesn't counteract the fact that Charlie felt uncomfortable and awkward for a majority of their interactions in "Dad Beat Dad."
I sympathize with Lucifer having depression, but unfortunately, mental illness doesn't just effect you, it also effects the people around you, and i can't fault Charlie for her feelings too.
Because at the end of the day, Lucifer is Charlie's father.
Charlie is his child.
And as a parent, he has responsibilities. Ones that he failed to meet, which would have an effect on Charlie as children are meant to rely on their parents.
It's very telling that Charlie calls Lilith (who's been MIA for 7 years) more than she calls Lucifer (who's probably just a few Circles away). And no, I don't think this is because Lilith kept them separated and all that bullshit. I think Lucifer 100% had a hand in his and Charlie's estranged relationship and I hate it when he's passed off as nothing but a victim in all of it.
I hate it when he's boiled down to sad depressed man who's done nothing wrong. He has done plenty wrong.
And that's okay.
Because that's what makes his character good. He is multi-faceted. He is flawed. You can be depressed and still treat the people around you bad. I don't think Lucifer ever meant to be an absent parent, he obviously loves Charlie with all his heart, but that doesn't mean Charlie wasn't affected by his actions.
She very obviously was. Charlie is one of the most positive people in the show (to an extent that it becomes one of her flaws too), but the minute she called Lucifer it was a complete flip of how we normally see her. She was immediately annoyed. Her patience was already wire-thin. She was close to snapping so many times.
And I can see why. He only calls when he's bored/wants/needs something. He forgot about where she was and what she was doing despite her already telling him. He told her that he'd do anything to help her, and then said "no" the minute she asked.
Also, let's not forget how he answered the phone in the first place.
"Heeey, bitch!"
And look, it was funny. I laughed too. I still think it's funny.
But, imagine you called your dad for the first time in years (a dad you have a very strained relationship with) and the first thing you hear is a peppy, "Heeeeey, bitch!"
Like??? I can't blame Charlie for being annoyed as all hell, okay? I get the sense that she's been putting up with this bullshit for a VERY long time ad she's lost all patience for it. She's done. She's sick of it. She's been disappointed one too many times.
Also, yes, it's not just that Lucifer has been an absent father but he's been a neglectful ruler too. I wouldn't be surprised if Pentagram City has as much respect for him as they do for Charlie. I mean
HE SIGNED OFF ON THE EXTERMINATIONS
Lucifer gave the go-ahead for a yearly genocide of the people he rules over. Can we get some repercussions for that? Do you know how many people lost their friends? Family? Lovers? Vaggie literally spared a child--a CHILD. And I doubt that was the first kid ever confronted by an Exorcist.
Imagine that Cherri died during an Extermination and here we have Angel Dust meeting the person who stepped aside and let it happen. Do you think he wouldn't be mad?
Imagine Carmilla did lose her daughters during that Extermination. Do you really think she'd meet Lucifer and feel nothing but anger and contempt?
Personally, I think Lucifer agreeing to the Exterminations is what fractured his and Charlie's relationship. Like, fully fractured it. That was the last nail in the coffin.
And honestly, I WANT Lucifer to see the consequences of the Exterminations. I want him to have repercussions because that was an INCREDIBLY SHITTY THING TO DO. I imagine he didn't think there was any other option, but we also know that he didn't hold the sinners in high regard anyway. He had the lowest of low opinions of them. I doubt it took much convincing for him to agree.
Lucifer is the oldest being in the Pride Ring--he may be the oldest being in Hell. He's the most powerful person there. He is the embodiment of Pride. And he ACTS LIKE IT IN THE SHOW.
He has acted that way towards Charlie too. He didn't go to her hotel with an open mind. He wasn't actually listening to her plan or taking it into consideration. He played stupid when she asked him what he thought about it. And when the hotel was under attack, instead of stopping it (which he could easily done with a snap of his fingers), he was smirking and acting self-satisfied as he gloated about being "right" about Sinners.
And if you think I'm exaggerating then go rewatch that entire scene.
Look at him
He is acting so smug and he is rubbing it in Charlie's face.
LOOK AT CHARLIE! She is in distress. She is angry. And she is hurting. Her hotel is falling to pieces around her, her friends are in danger, and the whole time she had her dad gloating in her ear about why her dream is, essentially, a waste of time.
And the only thing that snapped him out of it was Charlie asking why Alastor (the one actually protecting the hotel) has more faith in her than her own father. It took Charlie bringing up Alastor again for Lucifer to knock his shit off.
Look at how hurt and closed off Charlie is in the last screenshot. I can't imagine that this is the first time Lucifer has acted towards her in this way. Do I think Lucifer meant to hurt Charlie?
No.
But did he?
Hell-to-the-fucking-YES!
Lucifer is an asshole. He acted like an asshole towards Alastor. He's acted like an asshole towards Charlie. And he kind of acted like an asshole towards the rest of the Hazbin crew considering he didn't exchange a single line of dialogue with them. They introduced themselves to him and that was it. Lucifer spent the rest of the time dissing on Alastor and talking exclusively to Charlie and Vaggie.
Lucifer suffers from depression, yes, but that doesn't take away that he is as much of an asshole as any other character in the show. And I hate that being stripped away and getting turned into this sad, babied little man who's awkward and shy and everyone else is just being mean to him. It's so dull and it's such a disservice to his character.
I don't want sweet, shy little UwU Lucifer that needs to be coddled.
I want mean, condescending, ass-hole Lucifer who reaps the consequences of his actions and grows from them.
#can you guys tell im salty?#I'm a little salty#I didn't mean to get so bitter in this haha#but babied Lucifer really does bother me#its so annoying#and its such a disservice to his character#he is the embodiment of Pride#let him act like it#having depression doesn't stop someone from acting like an asshole#this isn't to take away from his depression either#depression is a real and valid thing#and his actions based on his depression makes sense#however#his actions STILL hurt Charlie#and Charlie is valid in her feelings too#lets stop brushing off how she feels#Lucifer wasn't the only one hurt#Charlie was hurting SO FUCKING MUCH#give her the credit she deserves#give her the empathy she deserves#I feel more sorry for her than I do for Lucifer if we're being honest#character analysis#hazbin hotel#lucifer morningstar#hazbin hotel lucifer#anonymous#hazbin lucifer#lucifer hazbin hotel#charlie morningstar#charlie hazbin hotel

Sukuna
[Chapter 6] A Different Side
â Previous Chapter - Story Masterlist - Next Chapter â
Pairing: Trueform!Sukuna x f!Reader
Discord +18 - Twitter - Ko-Fi - Bluesky
Sukuna notices a certain glow to you lately. Heâs not sure what it is, but as time goes on and you become rounder with his children, he sees something different in you. He doesnât find you beautiful, thatâs certainly not it.
Well, he certainly doesnât mind looking at you. He did choose you out of any other woman to carry his child. Thereâs something nice about you that he likes to dote on when no one else is looking (heâd never admit that though). He wonât say that youâre beautiful, but heâd say that youâre the closest a woman comes to achieving that. But lately, thereâs something about you that radiates, something that sticks with him even after you leave.Â
Is Sukuna getting to like you? No, thatâs absurd. Heâs just seeing you in a better light since youâre carrying his children. Itâs normal for someone to look at the mother of his children in a better light, and Sukuna guesses he falls under that category as well. As much as he likes to infamously stand out, this one time he relates to the crowd.
Even though he negates the idea that he likes you, you notice a change in him. Heâs grown fonder of you. You assume that itâs because the nauseousness dies down and youâre finally eating what youâre served, just as he orders. Your taste buds arenât fond of it, but you can eat it without puking.
You notice a change in how he treats you as time passes. He spends more time with youâ Not just watching you, but actually doing an activity with you. Whenever you read, he listens; if you want to take a stroll, he joins your side, not just walking three steps behind you; if you play a game, he joins. Either heâs grown fond of you as his wife, or he realized heâs too bored by just watching you live your life. Either way, youâre happy with how itâs going.
âYouâre horrible at shogi.â Sukuna points out after beating you for what feels like the hundredth time in the day. He likes your perseverance at least. Humans are so fascinating in that aspect. They refuse to give up even if they have no chance of winning. Sukuna has lost count of the times heâs killed someone because they bet on something that they had no chance of winning.
âHina tells me Iâve improved! Iâm always beating her.â You claim, and Sukuna rolls his eyes. What a pretty little fool you are.
âAnd why do you think that is?â Sukuna feels like he has to dumb it down for you, and you scoff. You cross your arms, resting on top of your very noticeable bump. Sukuna smirks as he looks at you. Youâre at least three months along, and youâre already huge. Thereâs no doubt in his mind that youâre expecting twins.
âWould it hurt you to let me win?â You mutter, and Sukuna hums in response. You huff as you stand up, refusing to play with him anymore. Maybe itâs the reason why Hina always lets you win, youâre a sore loser. âI donât want to play with you anymore.â
âGood. I need a challenge.âÂ
âYouâre a big dumb loser.â You stick out your tongue at him, but you quickly regret your actions when he glares at you. You know he wonât touch you or harm you in any way, but a single look is enough to send chills down your spine.
âCalling me a loser when youâve lost more games than I can count⊠Thatâs rich.â He responds, which makes your back stiffen. Youâre taken aback by his response, considering how quick it is. Youâve never assumed that Sukuna would have a sharp tongue; to you, heâs simply loud and scary which is why people are terrified of him, so it comes as a shocker when he actually has a smart response.
âIâm going on a walk.â You tell him, causing him to rise and go to your side. Thereâs absolutely nothing that youâre allowed to do alone, and you feel suffocated. Youâve asked him to give you a moment to yourself daily but you have no authority over him, and he makes it clear by not leaving you alone.
âItâs getting colder. You wonât be going on walks next week.â Sukuna says, which is an order rather than a prediction. A slight pout comes to your face, knowing that you have to find something else to do.Â
For the first time in your life, youâre bored. You have nothing to do, and you find yourself staring at a wall for hours on end. You have too much time on your hands, and you find yourself thinking about what the future awaits. You wonder if after giving birth to his children, you'll be able to see your family. And you donât want to be overwhelmed by your thoughts, which is why you try to keep yourself entertained, always.
âWhat will I do then?â You ask him as you exit the room. Your question receives no response, just as you expected. He isnât very talkative during your walks, he just listens to you with no response. You guess his presence is better than none during your walks.
âYouâre right, it is getting chilly.â You try to make conversation when you get outside, but as to be expected, he doesnât say anything. However, he does hum in response which you consider as a small win.Â
You walk slowly, taking details of the giant place. Youâre always amazed by its size, no matter how many times you walk past it. Itâs truly fit for a king. You shouldnât expect less for Sukuna.
âWhat are you planning to name your child?â You question, and youâre sure that youâre not receiving a response since after a minute, heâs quiet. Youâre not disappointed by the lack of response, after all, you ask a million questions and he only answers ten.
âI donât have a preference. You can pick.â He finally answers, which makes you completely stop in your step. He furrows his brows as he looks down at you, âWhat?â
âI donât think thatâs appropriate.â You respond. As if the child that you carry isnât yours as well, but only Sukunaâs. So far, you feel none of the maternal love that women claim to carry the moment they know theyâre expecting. Youâre expected to nurture them, but you know that youâll have little to no authority over them; if anything youâll be like a servant instead of a mother. âItâs your child.â
âYou are carrying them, you have some control over that.â He replies, which is his way of telling you that he has no names in mind. He wants a child, the same way a man wants a pet. He didnât give any forethought before completing the act.
âIâll discuss it with Hina.â You end up saying, something which he wonât argue with. You continue your walk until you see a particularly dull spot in the palace. You point at it and tell Sukuna, âSome flowers would add some color to the place.â
âWinter is approaching.â He reminds you.Â
âSpring will come again.â You respond, and he subtly nods.
âIâll speak with Uraume then.â He replies, which makes a small smile appear on your lips. You intertwine your arm with his lower one, and he doesnât bother fighting it off. Maybe you need some support for balance, and he isnât going to push you off. Not while youâre carrying his baby.
âYou know, while weâre at itââ You begin but a simple look makes you shut up. He knows youâre about to ask about your family, and you already know the answer.
Sukuna is tired of watching over you at around midnight. He spends every minute, every hour watching over you and he needs a break. Of course, he wonât leave you alone when youâre free to run around and get your dumb self in danger. Heâll just get Uraume or that dumb servant that you adore so much to watch over you while he⊠Visits Kyoko for the night.Â
Maybe he should catch up on some sleep lost, but that isnât quite as entertaining. He can sleep at any other time. He wonders if youâd get jealous about that, but at the same time he canât really care for your thoughts.
Heâs about to call out for Uraume to watch over you, but you begin to tremble. You look cold. He looks for something to throw over you and warm you up, but he doesnât see anything. He thought he stocked up the room of literally everything, but he canât find a blanket to throw over you.
He sighs. He should just let Uraume deal with this. Or your servant. All he knows is that this isnât his job. Sure, heâs supposed to be your husband and whatnot but he isnât responsible to keep you warmâ But youâre also carrying his seed, and heâs responsible for the babies that grow inside of you. Sukuna sits down beside you, picking you up and bringing your head to his chest.Â
Heâll just hold you for a minute. Heâll give you enough time to warm up before leaving. His hand goes to your back, and heâs hesitant before gently patting your back.Â
âHaru.â You mutter, and he furrows his eyebrows. Who is that? Your brother? Youâre shivering, your hands gripping the cloth of his kimono. It seems that you arenât necessarily cold, but rather having a nightmare of sorts.Â
âWake up.â Sukuna pokes your forehead to get you to open your eyes. It doesnât take much effort on his part to wake you up. Youâre short of breath as you open your eyes, and immediately you notice that heâs holding you.
âWhatâ What happened?â You canât help but stutter as he puts you down. You feel as if your heart is about to beat out of your chest as youâre brought back to reality.
âYou tell me. You were trembling and I had to help.â Sukuna answers as he stands up. You know that he isnât going to stand around and listen to whatever you have to say, so you donât bother speaking up; you donât have the energy to waste your words for uncaring ears.
âCan you call Hina? Before you leave.â You ask, and he frowns.
âWho told you Iâm leaving?â He questions.
âIâve woken up a couple of times, and realized that youâve been leaving the room lately.â You confess, since you doubt you can get in trouble for knowing the truth. Itâs his fault that he leaves, he canât get mad at you for noticing.
âIâm not leaving.â Sukuna decides. He doesnât like the fact that you know his next move. He sits down again, deciding to ask, âWhat were you dreaming?â
âWouldnât you like to know?â You leave him hanging. Youâve clearly woken up in a bad mood after your nightmare, and youâve decided to test out Sukunaâs limits. You know that he wonât do you any harm, not while youâre carrying his baby at least.
âHaru⊠Is that the fragile little boy I healed?â Sukuna asks and you feel your heart drop at the mention of your little brother.
âHow did youââ You begin to be cut off by him.
âYou were calling out his name.â He says. âSomeone really important to you from what I can gather.â
âHeâs the only reason Iâm here.â You murmur, and Sukuna scoffs. As if being the woman that carries his child isnât an honor. âYeah, I just had a bad dream about him. That was that.â
âStop thinking about an imbecile. You are a queen, and heâs barely human.â Sukuna orders, as if itâs something that you can easily stop thinking about. You wish you could just forget about him, considering that you canât see him. Every day you wonder if heâs okay, and if he and your aunt have enough food to eat. Alas, you canât do anything against Sukunaâs wishes.
âHeâs my brother. My family.â You argue, and he clicks his tongue.
âYou stopped having a family the moment you became my wife.â Sukuna responds, and you feel nauseous at his words. âThe only family you have now is the babies that are in your womb, and me.â
âWhy canât he be considered my family? Heâs the only reason Iâm here.â You remind him, and the words tick him off.
âHeâs beneath you.â He says, and the words break your heart. Haru is all you have in the world, to hear that heâs beneath you makes you upset.
âWhyââ
âEnough! I said youâre going to stop thinking about him, and thatâs what youâll do. Now go to sleep.â He yells, and tears begin to well up in your eyes. You end up nodding in response, knowing you have no other option but to listen. He looks down at you, watching you get on your side and cover yourself. âGood night.â
âNight.â

Anna baby we got new stills!! I am very curious why so many of Buck's outfits have been brown. The flannel he's wearing in the loft??? Blue and red and brown??? I'm thinking they tell Buck Maddie is pregnant, and it gets Buck thinking about a family (adding to his already immense longing), add in the pictures on his fridge and he is so close to understanding what he wants! But anyway! What is with the brown????
Hello baby!! So, the brown. I was talking about the brown with @stagefoureddiediaz literally yesterday lol. But current theory is that they are playing with both the stability and growth attached to the color when put in a positive light and the sense of isolation when we put it in a negative light. Buck doesn't wear brown a lot pre-season 7, his neutral color is grey, but ever since he came out he has been in a grey/sepia scale. The only instances me and Kym could come up with at the top of our heads was when Chim kicks Buck out and he has to move back with Maddie and the grocery store fight.
It plays into movements in Buck's life he needs to figure out alone, in a sense. Only Buck can break his own patterns and using a color that's attached to both stability and growth, like who he is for Eddie in 710, and loneliness, the grocery store, is fun because only Buck can allow himself to grow, he needs to do this for himself
Brown was also very attached to Tommy, Buck hasn't worn any brighter colors, like he would do his blues and red in previous seasons, this season yet, except for his costume, and I think it also plays into the way Buck forces himself to be what his partner wants and fails to consider what chipping away pieces of himself will do to him, like the way Tommy doesn't know he doesn't like basketball or the way Buck never complained about the "Evan" thing or the way Buck didn't know Tommy is gay or was engaged before or all the tiny ways they showed us Buck and Tommy didn't really know each other. And that plays into the way Buck was dimming himself while trying to find himself in the relationship, while trying to make dating Tommy something transformative, especially because while doing that, he was negating parts of who he is.
The brown hoodie is the first time we are seeing Buck in plain brown too, he's usually in a pattern or a textured fabric, and the mopping around and the very obvious stress-baking on "faded" colors with Jee in a literal rainbow, probably leading Buck to talk to Maddie and Chim in the red and blue will be interesting if that's the correct sequence of events. Because it will allow Buck to start bringing that color back to his life.
He's back in his self-discovery blue and that red with Buck is attached to emotions, trying to get in the right direction when it comes to his feelings, like trying to let go of Abby, his speech about love, a few moments in 208, Buck, actually as a whole works for Buck to try and figure out his own feelings.
But he's not in the true red, so, as pointed out to me by Kym, it's almost as if he's locking himself. He's not ready to have the revelation yet, But he will be back in blue, that's a good step, he will probably work his way back to his blue, being in it when he's ready for Eddie.

A Jolly Red Lie
Why a red suit? Cause it's christmas, and someone's been naughty. But also so that people don't know he's bleeding, that he's hurting.
In dp2, Wade says he should have worn his WHITE suit when he meets Juggernaut. Because a red suit hides blood, a white suit hides that you're excited, that you're enjoying all this. That you're getting off, that you want it.
A red suit shows you're enjoying it. A red suit doesn't show you're hurting. A white suit doesn't show you're enjoying it, but it does show you're hurting.
Wade's first suit was white.
He swapped it to red because he didn't want to show he was bleeding all over everything. You know, like a bleeding heart. He doesn't want people to know he cares so much he'd sacrifice himself over and over. Selflessness. He wants it to appear as if his actions cost him nothing. He can't have anyone thinking he wants to be there.
But the red suit does show he's enjoying it. Enjoying the fighting, the killing, the being stabbed.
When we first meet pre Deadpool Wade, he was in a red coat, white shirt--the Golden Girls shirt. He's enjoying what he's doing.
Wearing his heart on his sleeve. Showing what he cares about. Told pizza stalker girl he does it for the hugs, and then covered up by turning it into a joke "for the money"--(haha the deadpool movie was ostensibly jokes for money, but we all know that's not true)--and then later refusing to take payment. He's being open, even if he knocks it down a peg after the fact.
Looking at Vanessa with open care, and letting her see. Openly saying things like "Happy holidays", without being sarcastic about it or negating it.
But he stops doing that after Francis. The only time it's shown is when she tells him she wants to have a kid--even then it's still not openly, because it's hidden behind jokes. He doesn't tell her he loves HER, only that he really wants a kid: but DOES HE?
No. He's pretending to care, to want. They first intend to "watch some porn and show the bed who's boss", but we cut to them watching Abjectly Not Porn. He then says he wants a kid again, but the way he describes it is to "get the strap on": that's not how kids are made. He didn't want that in dp1 though: he says "no" to the strap on in the sex montage. (That was on international women's Day. When Vanessa is dead in dp2, it's always international women's Day there. Aka, Wade doesn't want to be there. Why is he there, then? Because he thinks she wants that.)
He's pretending to care about something he doesn't. He's using things he's supposed to want, but no longer does, to act like he cares. He wants to, but he does not. He says he wants kids as he's selling used cars, but that's a lie followed by the offense of "not having vaginal sex". Because he wants to get pegged now, which is extremely offensive to Disney.
So what changed?
He isn't "Happy holidays" open anymore after Francis.
He's showing her what he wants, but won't say it. She is also showing and not saying what she wants: him to SAY it. They both want a family, just not THIS one. Do you want what I can give you or do you want me? He's only alive on the outside, not the inside.
They give each other multiple opportunities to just say it, but neither actually wants to make it happen. She doesn't take the excuse that he would be a bad father as the "I don't want this" subtext it really is; he doesn't take her dismissal of his excuses as the call for change--to go back to how things were--that it is. He knows what's going on, he'll flirt with the line but he won't go to the end.
He's too selfless to tell her he doesn't want this. He doesn't say no anymore, unlike he did pre-Deadpool. Because he thinks she wants this with him, and he won't deny her that, because he calls that selfish.
He CAN do it, so does it matter if he wants it?
He's so selfless he'll hide how much he's being hurt: his bleeding heart. Hide how much it's killing him that he can't say no. He thinks he doesn't have a choice.
Because Father Christmas is going after the naughty list: NOT handing out presents. Enjoying receiving them from other people--not wearing the white suit to hide that--because he's giving presents while giving nothing away. Giving but not receiving. (Haha multiple meta levels and multiple sex jokes)
When did Wade change and why? Going to Francis was showing he cared so much about something he was willing to risk it all. That was the decision he told us is when "it all went wrong": when he changed, on more than just the outside. When it went wrong with Vanessa.
He's only alive on the outside. He's only got a life (with Vanessa) on the outside--he's dead inside. This isn't a life he wants.
Because what he got for caring that much--risking it all--was everything going wrong. The new him, wrong but so right: hiding everything behind a joke, saying the opposite of what he means. Not like he used to be.
The trauma wasn't the torture, it was that he asked for the help they offered only to learn they were lying, that they didn't actually want him around: both in the sense that they weren't doing it for him, and also that they were going to ship him out enslaved afterwards. He no longer trusts claims to care, kindness, because that's where everything goes wrong. Kindness is a lie, hiding the threat of getting the rug pulled.
If you have to say you're nice, then you're not actually nice.....if you don't say you're nice--if you identify as an asshole--you could be nice on the inside. False skins.
Rejection can't hurt you if you don't give it a chance in the first place. If you act like you don't care, that you don't want the thing you want. If you act like you're a psychotic asshole, pushing people away from the getgo.
He gets off on being hurt now: red suit, not white. He's no longer hiding that he gets off on that. Openness is a turn off.
People in jolly red suits are supposed to enjoy giving presents in exchange for cookies and cream after coming down the chimney. Openly doing things for other people, for no payment except appreciation. That was Wade in his jolly red pizza jacket.
And that selflessness still is him, except it's killing him inside and out.
But now he's saying his bleeding red heart--not just on his sleeve but his EVERYTHING--is about hiding the gore: a lie that it's about blood to cover the truth that it's about his heart, how hurt he is on the inside. How he's constantly dying.
It IS about the blood, but it's also not. An omission. Honesty from the other side: not full frontal but raw dogging it from the back, in the subtext. A reach around, if you will.
There wasn't any bloody gore to hide with the pizza stalker, he really was just wearing his heart on his sleeve. Like he's doing in his red Christmas suit, except he's now lying about what it is.
Don't listen to him, he's a fucking liar.
He was pizza Santa, but now he's Bad Santa: claiming it's about blood feud and his face when really it's about making sure Francis couldn't happen to anyone else. Hiding his bleeding heart out in the open behind the ugly statement that he's selfish. Taking out Francis' entire operation instead of only getting revenge on Francis.
He now doesn't care if people see he enjoys what he does, in his red suit, getting off on being hurt: unlike with the pizza stalker, when "that came out wrong, or did it, kiss". He didn't kill that guy because that's not what it was about; but now, he openly enjoys that. So long as he can hide what it's really about behind a different front, a different face, a lie.
The face he presents isn't his real one. It's a mask. Ugly offense instead of truth. Offense as truth.
That's (not) what she said
That's why Vanessa said "show me you care about something bigger than yourself": I need you to be open. An offensive statement ostensibly saying he's selfish, because she wants him to SAY OPENLY that it's not the truth, that his front is JUST a front. (But it's not. She wants him to go back to who he was--not the face, but the "happy holidays".) To remove the cover. (That's why he took off the suit: he removed the lie. Other people wanted him to, so he tried to give it to them because he's just that selfless.
Why should it matter if you don't want to? Sacrifice isn't a good thing if it's not your choice. It'll destroy everything.)
But he can't remove the cover and still be himself. Removing it means he's lying to himself. He's not "right there" anymore. He's always behind an invisible barrier, and he won't cross it anymore. It's not a facade, it's who he really is. He's offensive, not polite, impolite.
Her crazy no longer matches his crazy. He's got a new him that he shouldn't put a mask over.
Vanessa's "show me you care" was giving him the excuse and choice he needed to breakup: here's something ugly you can call yourself so that you can leave. She knows he doesn't want to be there, he just can't give up the wish to be, and he won't subject her to rejection because he sees that as selfish, because that's what he's most afraid of himself.
She said "I don't want you", and it was a lie, but it also wasn't. Wade took the excuse of the text, the superficial statement, to ignore that what she was really saying was "I know you don't want me".
By the end of dp3, he learns that wanting things for himself isn't selfish. "I did it for you", he says, and because it's not impolite, not who she knows he is, Vanessa knows it wasn't about her. That it's a lie. He's telling her that he's finally doing something HE wants, and it's not her: he's finally telling her no, able to say no again, to say what he actually wants. It's a thank you to her for telling him to go, to do what makes him happy--what he wants. She's happy for him. All she wanted was for him to be happy, that's why she wanted him to leave. He's learned that getting to choose matters, and wanting matters, more than ostensible selflessness.
"I did it for you": not the truth but not a lie. A lie that is the truth.
He's pretending to care about his non-deadpool life in dp3, when really he doesn't. It isn't him and Vanessa knows it. So she gives him an excuse: I'll call you selfish, so you can go find what you really want, because I know it's not me, I know you need an excuse to act for yourself.
He goes to 616 looking to join the Avengers with the excuse on his lips that it's someone else who wants it. He's sick of not belonging. Because even when what he wants is right in front of him, when it's true he wants to do it for other people--he still can't say it. He lets it go because they would want him to stop being impolite, just like Vanessa, and he won't do that. He won't admit what the red suit really is.
He won't say he's selfless. He won't say he's nice. He'll say he's not.
But he hangs up the suit because he thinks he'll never find somewhere to belong unless he changes. Unless he gives everyone else what they want. Unless he acts like someone he isn't.
Wade won't openly care after Francis, but after Vanessa was saved in dp2, she changed too: she wanted more open care, not behind an excuse. She missed the happy holidays. It had started before she died too: she wanted him to give her the real reason he was late, not an excuse: she wanted him to say he came back FOR her, not excuse why he hadn't. He DID leave in the middle of a job FOR her, though--he just wouldn't say it. Weaker and weaker excuses were the best he could do. Pouty face because he doesn't want to say the truth, and she knows it. Accepted it at the time, but not after dp2: when she saw he would be fully self destructive in an attempt to not be selfish. That's why she's with someone openly kind in dp3: not someone offensive like Wade.
How does offense as defense, offense as a true lie, come into things?
He says he's not having vaginal sex as an offensive way to cover the truth that he wants to get pegged, aka he's gay. (Subtext that Vanessa was a beard for dp2. He wasn't gay before he became Deadpool, before he became Jesus.) Metanarratively, it's an offensive sex comment to hide the greater offense Disney takes to queerness. Desire under offense. A lie to hide the truth. A lie that IS the truth.
He does do things because other people need him. He always has. He's always been kind.
He cares SO MUCH, he just won't say it out loud, make it obvious. Just like Logan couldn't have anyone knowing how much he wanted to be there. They need cover, an excuse.
What you think you're seeing isn't what's really there: it's not Captain America but Johnny. It was all along. It's not the money shot but the hug. He's not there for mister chandelier jeans, he's there for the delivery. To make a delivery himself.
But if offense is defense, if offense is the truth: not my favorite Chris, is, in fact---
So he hides behind being fake: he's not faking being nice, he's faking being offensive. Nicepool is the opposite, a facade of kindness hiding selfishness: he doesn't let the dog choose, even after she ran away twice. Deadpool specifically let Vanessa choose: "tell me you don't want me and I'll leave". He let Logan choose: do you walk away or do you come back? He waited to jump back in the car until Logan asked him to come hither. Show me you want me. Over and over again: romance.
He did fake being nice though: Deadpool telling Nicepool to say he's going to live while he's actively being murdered is a callback to Francis killing him over and over, telling him he'll get to go back to his life--to LIVE--when it was actually a lie and he never intended such a thing. Two different lies.
Or was it a lie, when Deadpool's lies are the truth? Francis didn't intend for him to live, and Deadpool didn't intend for Nicepool to live either: kindness is a risk, a threat. Truth in the lie. It's not his business that Nicepool didn't know the difference, just like it wasn't Francis' business that Wade didn't know the difference.
The xmen wanted them both to change: in dp2, the rules were be nice and no killing, but he couldn't do that. For Logan, they wouldn't drag him off no matter how much they wanted him, because they wanted him to do it openly. Be nice. Instead of rebuffing them, instead of hiding behind offense.
The Car Monologue
That's why Deadpool gets all breathless and speechless after Logan's OFFENSIVE rant in the car: that was a confession, it wasn't an insult. Truth in the lie: except Deadpool can tell the difference between what's a lie and what's the truth, just like Logan can. Insulting him, saying he's NOT NICE: the lie in the text to hide the subtext that he knows full well he really is.
They'd just spent a day driving: look at the timeline, Wade starts with three days and they show up at the last hour. Where did all that time go, when we only saw one night? Where were was the other day?
They spent it driving, and talking. Logan knows about Vanessa in his rant, and he could only know their history if Wade told him: he talked about everything else before asking Logan about himself, because offense is being nice, is caring. "Selfishness" to show care, because Logan DID NOT want to talk about himself. He was literally a jabbering prick as a lie to show he cared, instead of saying it.
That's another in the list of things Wade does that no one else will: be the asshole no one else will, be the asshole that's needed.
He comes off as a megalomaniacal psychotic asshole. But the real asshole is Cassandra, not him.
Logan's rant was a cover of offense over empathy: but it was actually Logan telling Wade he understood why he hated himself, because he felt the same way. Like Logan wearing the suit under his clothes because he can't let anyone know how much he missed them, how sorry he was. Like Logan not reacting to the bartender treating him badly because he can't show how much it hurts, how much he's bleeding to death. He was quite literally embarrassed to wear the suit, to be a superhero, to show he cared. And so is Wade of the red suit: bad santa to cover how much he wants to give things away.
Wade met all those other Wolverines first: they all attacked him, except two whom he walked away from.
Why did he walk away from those two?
Accurate Wolvie didn't respond to his insult at all, so that one isn't like Wade: offers no offense. Wade can't have THAT when he's so openly offensive himself. He needs the offense as a cover.
Cross Logan was up there because he openly cared. Without an excuse, without an offensive cover. Openly bleeding. He'd gone after the people who attacked the rest of the team, instead of walking away.
Just like Logan said: they can't let him know how much they care or go willingly. Not caring and walking away is the real Wolverine. The BEST Wolverine. Cross and Accurate wouldn't match Wade's crazy.
He walks away from all the other Wolvies because they didn't show they care in any way at all. They said no without saying it.
Worst Wolvie, however, does show he cares, while still maintaining offense: "you don't want this", but not outright rejecting him. He's saying yes without saying it.
Having met those other ones, Wade knows that for what it is: exactly the kind of thing Wade says. And like Wade says in greeting: "you don't know me but I know you". Gives him the drink he wants under cover of offensively threatening the bartender. Care behind offense, and Logan took the bottle.
Does Logan know it was care behind it, though? Or does he read it as pure offense?
He KNOWS, because he could have easily killed Paradox. But instead, he doesn't, and joins Wade in the trash heap: because he wants to help. He wants THIS guy. The attack attempt on Paradox was an offense, a cover for what he really wanted: Wade.
Wade says to Wolvie, "I don't want this just like you don't want this": but he KNOWS Wolvie. He knows how much every version of him wants to die. That line was really saying, I do want this, I know you need this cover, and I know you want it like this too. It was "I get you", and "I'll do it the way you like, because I'm the same way".
Let's look at that car rant: it came AFTER Wade told him he didn't know if he could save his universe, but it wasn't a careless slipup. He repeats exactly what he said, instead of denying it. Painting himself as careless is the lie to cover the truth: he was checking whether Logan was really doing this for wholly selfish reasons, if he felt coerced, or if he was there because he WANTED to be. Giving him a choice, again.
Tell me you want me: over and over. Do it again. The romance in
Look at her, I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss. Last night - you were unhinged. You were like some desperate, howling demon. You frightened me. - Do it again!
So he told him the truth in an offensive way: hey did you know I lied? GASP how offensive! Really it was: Are you here just for you, or do you want me too? Are you here for ME? Because this "slipup" carelessness is me being here for you. Just like my annoying jabbering was for you. It's you I want, not anyone else. It was YOU I chose, like the radio says: I'm with you. Here's your excuse, saving my world, let's recommit to the truth in the lie.
Logan responds to offense with OFFENSE. "You lied to me". A cover of offense for the truth that he IS there for Wade. An excuse to fuckin' go at it, an excuse to stay. An excuse of "I'm doing it for them" when really he just wanted to a teamup with Wolvie, whatever excuse he could get for that. An excuse of "I'm doing it to fix my own world" when really he just wanted the excuse to stay.
You know what? You're a fucking joke. No wonder the Avengers didn't take you. Or the X-Men... and they'll take fuckin' anyone! I mean, you are a ridiculous, immature, half-wit moron. I have never met a sadder, more attention-starved, jabbering little prick in my entire life. And that says a lot, because I've been alive for more than 200 fucking years. Iâll tell ya, that bald chick was right about one thing. You will never save the world. You couldn't even save a relationship with a goddamn stripper. Motherfucker, I wish I could say you'll die alone, but it's one of God's best jokes that you can't die, except that's on all of us. You got nothin to say, MOUTH?
Like Wade's accusations of "I heard all about you, how you screwed everything up", it's a lie to cover the truth, an insult to cover the reality that it's a personal confession. You're not nice and neither am I.
The xmen will take anyone--just like strippers. Logan couldn't make it work with strippers either. He's a fucking joke. He's a sad, attention starved, prick; not jabbering aka yapping about anything and everything that doesn't matter, but silent about what does and only talking to scream at those who do--the antithesis to Wade's yapping at Logan, ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT MATTERS TO WADE, to help take his mind off everything.
Logan wishes he could die alone, away from the voices that haunt him. Away from the people whose deaths haunt him. But what he really wants is to be welcome, wanted. Wade wants to live with someone he loves. They understand each other, they get it like no one else does.
This is a confession, compliment, confidence, and also thank you for Wade not making him talk about himself. Thank you for the attention he just gave him for a whole day+ driving. For trusting him, unlike how his own world refused to. Wade confessed first, and so Logan followed suit.
Wade is gobsmacked speechless because not only did he just get read to filth, it was done in exactly the way he wanted it: not nice. He can take the excuse of the insult, or he can take the excuse in the subtext. He's being given a choice, and that's what he craves. Like he gave Vanessa a choice to leave him. Choice that was taken from him when he went to Francis.
Nothing to say, Mouth?: are you going to say something or not? Are you going to tell me it was real? Give me confidence.
Logan just said he knows who Wade is, he's the same kind of crazy, and he's HERE for it. A proposal. Desire under offense.
Checking In
So why did Wade first offer up that the TVA could help him, if he was going to admit it later? Because he knew Logan couldn't say he openly wanted to hang around, he needed an excuse. The world "wasn't his fuckin problem": his real problem was needing an excuse to stay with him. So Wade gave him one: the TVA can fix your world. They actually could: it was true, and it was a lie.
It was an educated wish: the education of knowing Wolvie needed an excuse (I know you), and the wish that it's an excuse he wanted. That he wanted to say yes.
Without having to say yes. The flip of how things were with Wade and Vanessa: he was implying yes when really he was saying no without saying it.
Then instead of being just an excuse, just a wish, in the car it becomes a declaration of love. A proposal. Wishing that was wanting.
That educated wish came after Wade insulted Wolvie:
"Give me a hand up, you APE": offense to cover the truth of how much he likes him. A question: do you get off on this like I do?
An offense as an excuse to touch him. To check if he'll openly care, or if....he'll offer more offense right back. Because that's Wade's crazy, offense is what he gets off on. "Nope, I'm actually okay, thank you very much": An obvious lie, to give Logan a chance to withdraw: "Are you gonna take the excuse to back off or the excuse to fuckin go?"
Aka: pick your offense. I'm giving you the choice.
They don't openly say what they mean. So everything they say, isn't what they really mean. The offense is the point. Do you still care even if I offend you, even if I'm ugly to you? Even if I'm repulsive? Not nice? Will you still be there, in sickness because I am never decent, till death do us not part?
If you can't handle me at my worst, then your supposed kindness is a lie. So I'll offer a lie, I'll offer the worst first: I'll put my worst face forward. Do you still want me? Which excuse do you take?
Give me a hand up: that's exactly what Logan does, putting up his claws. It's fuckin foreplay! Also a consent kink.
Achievement unlocked: excuses established, your crazy matches my crazy. They both get off on being offensive. On being wanted, on being given the choice.
"I heard all about you, how you screwed up everything": SO DID WADE. That's how he greeted wolvie: I need you, my world needs you, aka everything is screwed up. I screwed it up and can't fix it, just like you did. We're the same. Neither actually wants to go back to the world they left, but they needed a cover, a lie, to stay together: we gotta save the world.
Wade carries the picture of everyone because it's his excuse for what he does. He likes them, but not like that. Because he wanted to go with the TVA when they showed up to kidnap him: he knew he could use them to get to Wolvie, whom he'd known about since he could break the fourth wall. The birthday party was not his world, he didn't want it anymore. He was wearing a toupee and without his suit: he was trying to be something he wasn't, so he took the excuse to get out of there. He knew who the strippers were. He lost the toupee.
Failure hurts less if you act like you didn't want it, if you act like you're not bleeding out because of it.
Rejection hurts less if you act like you never wanted it. If you don't tell them you care.
It hurts more when you say you want something you don't.
After Francis, he gained the ability to break the fourth wall. He's no longer the same person he was: this is when he learns about Wolvie. But he couldn't get to him, couldn't yet hop universes, so he was settling for Vanessa. At the end of dp1, the mask he put on his face? It was ostenisbly "here's a pretty face for you", "do you want this or me", but it was really Wade directing the question to himself: do I want Vanessa, or do I want the guy I know I belong with? Do I be selfless or selfish: he let Vanessa choose for him. Because he's too selfless. He wouldn't say no if someone else said yes.
If you can't say no, if you don't want it, the sacrifice isn't selfless but a crucifixion.
He knew what he really wanted, but he wouldn't hurt Vanessa to get it. It's why he left Vanessa in the first place after Francis--he just didn't SAY it, hiding under the excuse of selfish vanity. Showed instead of telling.
When the TVA told Wade that Wolvie was dead, what he heard was there was a space for one in his universe. When they told him his universe was going to end, he took that excuse to go get his man. Going after what he wants.
"I wasn't unconscious". YES HE WAS--
It wasn't a mere wish, it was a proposal. Both of them here now know they're doing it for each other. So, HA to that. A nasty HA in an ostensible fight, to cover his real amusement at the truth that they're referring to how much they want each other: do it again.
-->"SO EMBARASSING": oh my god that was HOT do it AGAIN; right away boo boo.
-->"He died from murder, you dumb fuck": oh my god that was so smart how you did that, THANK YOU.
-->Logan gargling and spitting the liquor when they're talking in the hide out? "I don't give a shit about your world": nobody in this room does, it's all for their own ends. It's all just an excuse: a true lie. They're sick of hiding, of not being who they are.
Wade had just said the group could save his world, to give them the excuse they needed for their real aim: their own egos.
He's kissing ass to get them to do what he wants: false flattery, currying favor.
Sucking up is called "apple polishing". Apple polishing, slang, is to suck nuts. Aka....gargling balls. Without swallowing; spitting; because it's false flattery.
Logan's showing Wade he knows what he's doing. And that he's getting off on it, encouraging it, by not saying anything.
"My god read the room": I know you're putting on a show here and I'm all for it, you read me to filth, keep playing along and I'll do you next.
-->"A catty bitch when I'm jealous": he's jealous that the blowjob handles came out for other people but hadn't for him. Jealousy is the excuse he's giving himself and Wolvie to hide that he's stating a desire and admiration.
What's the wind resistance on those blowjob handles?: are those strong enough for me to pull on? To withstand all the bluster and hot air that Wade's blowing him with. Wolvie doesn't object, and that's him saying YES. Just like it was in the bar: "you don't want this", not NO.
-->They only give looks of adoration when the other isn't watching, cause it hurts more if you never acknowledge it: he openly ENJOYS getting hurt in his not-white suit now, ya know? Gets off on the offense of it. Do it again. Be not nice to me.
-->"You didn't lie, you made an educated wish": You were right, I do want to stay with you, I'm here for you. I accept. Tell me again.
"You got a whole world to go back to. I got nothin, give me this." I got you, I need you to live. Give me that. Show me you understand.
"You were the best Wolverine": Logan says nothing, because if it's true, don't say it, show me. Because he won't say anything nice, he didn't say anything at all. Yes without yes. Let's fight about it, because we don't actually care about the universe, it's just an excuse for our flirting.
"You don't need to do this": safe word. I don't want this, this is too far, I can die for you and kill for you but don't make me live without you.
"I'm doing it because they do": do you want to be with me until death do us part? And not part even then? It's an echo of Wade leaving Vanessa to die: neither went after the other. He didn't want to be with her until death. "For them" is a heroic lie. Call me on it. Show me that it's not until the end of the line, but through it, do it again. Show me you're sure, that you want it all beyond life itself.
Death as romance. Like Romeo and Juliet.
....
They can be nice to other people. To the dog. But it's just not what they get off on. They don't play nice together. And in doing so, light that fuck-box on fire. Among other things. Can't have sparks without a little arson, yeah?
That's why Wade clocks Wolvie with a fire extinguisher in the reactor. To try to knock out their "fire" so that he'd not follow him. It's a callback to Human Torch being easily put out: Wolvie's fire wasn't. Instead, they actually set someone else on fire, so well she was ruined for life. The power of love!!!!
They're anti heroes. The heroism is just the excuse to cover up that it's really about enjoying the action. (The movie and the payday is just the excuse to cover up that it's about---)
This clown car can fit so much gay in it. You think you've got it all and then there's just more and more and more.
