This really pisses me off- an 1892 Victorian mansion in Denver, CO was converted to an office building and now they want to sell it as a home. 12 bds., 8ba, 21,285 sq ft, asking $8,407,575.
Forget about having a home with a yard and a garden, they made it a parking lot.
In the reception area, which is also the grand hall, it looks like the wood is still intact, but the fireplace behind the desk has been blocked off.
The stairs look good.
It's hard to tell what most of the rooms were. This one looks pretty good. It still has lots of original millwork, the fireplace, and stained glass.
There's a staff kitchenette back here. The cabinets are nice, but the counter is laminate and I wonder what it was before.
This must be a sitting room. It has a beautiful fireplace.
It looks like the pocket doors are intact. I'm not sure if the cabinets are original, but they were nicely done.
This has to have been the dining room. I know that some of it is new, but how did they get the original wood so light? The original ceiling was plaster. There is no longer a kitchen.
This must be an area for staff sing-alongs.
In this room, only the frame of the fireplace is left.
The woodwork in this room was painted white. I don't know if these are separate offices or the same business in the whole house.
Don't know what this room is, but even though it has beautiful brick and wood, they put up modern office lighting and ductwork.
Not bad tile work on this little fireplace, but I don't like the shelves above it.
This room was modernized. I wonder what's under all the commercial carpeting. The door with a transom indicates that this could have been a bedroom. Notice that they advertise 8 baths, but don't show any. They're probably like public restrooms, now.
This would be a landing. Glad to see the railing and columns. Hate the lighting.
If they left the wood in most other areas, why did they paint some of it?
In this area, they put in modern commercial doors and windows, plus the modern ceiling and lights. I'm not sure that the brick is original, but there's a fireplace.
More ductwork and new walls, plus cement flooring. Look at the clear glass door. That's different.
I wonder if the barn doors are original.
I'm thinking that these are different offices, not just a single business. I don't know if the steel columns could've been there. I don't even know where we are.
All modernized except for the fireplace. Nice chandelier.
Here's some sort of a loft or stair landing.
This looks like an attic office and it also has a kitchenette.
In the basement there's a staff room with a kitchenette.
Plus a staff gym. So much money, and I don't even know how much it would take to make it right- like what do you do with the ductwork and all the flush mount ceiling lights. The plaster ceilings, medallions, and light fixtures are all gone.

sorta-wcif: what doors do you normally use with the metro window set? i never feel like the doors i have fit in with those windows.
Most often I use the full-width and full-height glass door from the Fallingwater Set that was made eons ago. All the pieces in the original set come in black, white, and red. Or, if you want more colors, Kiri repoâd the set here, so recoloring the set was no longer a gigantic project, and there are now tons of recolors out there. Iâll also mix in some of the windows of that set with the Metro set. The Fallingwater set has some different shapes/sizes, especially shorter windows, and they look pretty good together, although the frames are a little thinner.
Also, Moune made some repositoried add-ons for the Maxis plate-glass windows here that will mix pretty well with the Metro set. (The Maxis black isnât quite as dark as the Metro setâs black, but itâs not too noticeable if the windows arenât right next to each other.) Again, there are some different lengths and widths of windows, plus additional doors, though they are shorter than full height. I used the full-width counter-height windows from that set in the kitchens in that apartment building.
EDIT: Oh! Also, especially if you want to do window walls, thereâs CycloneSueâs Alpine window set. It also has a full-width/height glass door, but itâs not really different from the Fallingwater one. I did some recolors of the Alpine set here, which includes the meshes, so you donât have to go off to T$R. :)
OR! If you donât want to go the CC route, the âWerknothamâ door from AL works well. Itâs a double door, full-height with a transom, and the frame is black and about the same thickness as the Metro setâs frames. (Donât know if there are other colors out there than the Maxis colors; itâs on my to-do list, but it hasnât made it to the top yet. :) ) I HugeLunatic made this single-door version:
Itâs probably on Sims2Artists. I used both the double and single door on that house I just posted pics of.

Two Duplex Kitchen Reveals â And Our Airbnb Listing Is Live!
Big day, big day, BIG. DAY. Not only are we gonna give you a tour of both completed duplex kitchens, we also FINALLY got our Airbnb listings up and running. Phew! So keep reading for all the photos & the details on how you can book a week there if you wanna check out Cape Charles for yourself (we think itâs the best summer vacation ever â but we might be a little biased).
wood cabinets | white cabinets | tile | counters |fridge | range | pendant | faucet | hardware | tall cutting board |walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White
So the picture above is obviously the kitchen with the blue tile & wood cabinets on the right side of the duplex (which youâve seen bits of already in our post about installing the Ikea cabinets and tiling the backsplashes) but Iâm actually going to pop over to the other side â the kitchen with the pink tile & blue cabinets (seen below) for the first part of this post.
blue cabinets |white cabinets | tile | counters | fridge | range | pendant | faucet | hardware | tall cutting board | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White
Weâve got so much to show you, but I want to start off by rewinding to the state of things when we first bought the duplex in 2017. This was the view from the living room towards the now-kitchen (see that orange trim through the doorway?).
And the previous (clearly not original) kitchen had been shoved into a former side porch to the left of that orange trimmed window above, which didnât exactly feel like the right spot for it.
Hereâs a comparative âafterâ shot to the one I shared two photos up. Obviously one huge improvement was widening the doorway (and adding a transom!) to connect these two spaces and maximize flow and light. Plus, now you can see our wall of tile all the way from the front door.
dining chairs | similar dining table| chandelier | mirror | cabinets | tile | pendant | faucet | hardware | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White
The now-kitchen was actually a dining room of sorts before. We think. Although an old fridge was inexplicably floating in the middle of it. But clearly this bigger room was begging to be the new kitchen. At least thatâs what the two-toned trim is saying to me in this picture.
Hereâs a similar view of this area now. We raised the base of the window so we could run cabinetry across that wall and added pocket doors so the laundry can be closed off if itâs too loud while itâs running for anyone cooking or eating or watching TV.
cabinets | tile |counters | pendant | faucet | hardware | coffee maker | toaster | paper towel holder | pink cups | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White | doors: SW White Truffle
One big update since youâve last seen these rooms is that theyâre actually stocked with stuff now. Blenders, toasters, coffee makers, pots & pans, knives, silverware, serving bowls, plates, cups, wine glasses, mugs, microwaves, even tupperware and salt & pepper are all ready for renters. And yes, there is a cheese grater on each side too. Along with wine openers and chip clips.
blue cabinets | tile | counters | pendant | faucet | hardware | coffee maker | toaster | paper towel holder | pink cups | faux fern | tall cutting board | range | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White
We mentioned in our backsplash post that we opted for a different treatment on the stove wall because it felt too chaotic to continue our patterned tile on that side too (we leaned it up to see how it looked and it felt too crazy on two walls). So we went for something subtle yet wipeable and easy to maintain. Note: We could have done the accent tile on the stove wall, but the back wallâs visible from the front door and has that nice centered window, so we wanted to make that wall the star, and cast the side wall as more of a âsupporting character.â
Ok, but back to our âsubtle yet wipeable solution.â Some call it planking, some call it horizontal paneling, and some call it faux shiplap (real shiplap interlocks), but we were inspired to jump on the bandwagon after long admiring how Shea McGee works it into her beachy/modern home designs, as well as loving Chris & Juliaâs TV wall in their family room. Our verdict: what took us so long?! (Also, where do I pick up my Fixer Upper merit badge?)
blue cabinets |white cabinets |counters | hardware | faux fern | tall cutting board | utensil holder | range | exhaust hood | microwave | faux fern | fridge
Iâll share a photo tutorial of it soon, but itâs basically just thin pieces of plywood we cut down to planks, nailed to the wall with small spacers, and painted with durable and easy-to-wipe semi-gloss paint (we color-matched it to the the cabinets so everything blends). We think itâll provide a more durable and stain-proof surface than plain painted drywall â like how people add beadboard backsplashes â and it was so cheap & easy to do.
blue cabinets | white cabinets |counters | hardware | range | exhaust hood | microwave | faux fern | dish towels | similar bowl
And while weâre looking at the appliances, you can see how we chose stainless for the slide-in range and refrigerator, but went with a white countertop microwave so it blended right into the white wall behind it.
blue cabinets | white cabinets | counters | hardware | utensil holder | range | exhaust hood | microwave | faux fern | fridge
I know some people have been curious about the exhaust hood over the range so here are the details. We decided to give one of Ikeaâs range hoods a try because we wanted something that looked completely built-in like cabinetry. So the hood is just an insert they sell that automatically comes with all of the materials and instructions to build it into a standard Ikea cabinet.
The only thing you need to figure out is how it vents. Since we canât vent outside (due to the central firewall required in a duplex) we chose their option to add charcoal filters that clean & recirculate the air. Thatâs the reason we left the tiny gap above the cabinet instead of adding crown up there. The charcoal filter traps the greasy stuff at the bottom of the hood, but the clean air still needs a spot to escape, hence that little crack up top.
cabinet | hardware | utensil holder | exhaust hood | pink bowls | microwave | faux fern
For the fridge we chose a not too fancy but still nice looking top freezer model. Itâs not quite counter depth, but we were able to build it in with a side panel so it looks nice and unobtrusive. We were also sure not to buy one with an ice maker or water dispenser because both of those can break or cause leaks (when we lose power in Richmond our ice maker leaks onto our wood floors â ACK! So we donât want to worry about that in a house thatâs vacant in the off season). It may seem minor, but weâre trying to minimize/eliminate maintenance issues wherever we can â even the little ones. And weâll leave ice in the freezer and a Brita filter in the fridge for renters, so theyâll have cold water & ice on hand.
blue cabinets | white cabinets | counters | hardware | microwave | faux fern | fridge
If you were scratching your head wondering where the dishwasher is, well well well, look what we have here: a built-in, cabinet-fronted dishwasher! The first we have ever done! And we love it. We really didnât want to interrupt that line of cabinets against that back focal wall, so we crossed our fingers that this would work â and it did. Our plumber installed the dishwasher but we added the cabinet panel & hardware ourselves, which really wasnât hard at all. It does take some careful measuring (they provide a helpful paper template to eliminate the guesswork) but overall it was very straightforward.
dishwasher | trash can | cabinets | tile | counters | hardware |coffee maker | toaster | mugs | pink cups | faux succulent
We also have built-in trash cans on the far end of that back wall. Ikea allows you to customize these, so we were able to match the look of all of the other 3-drawer cabinets in the room, but the bottom two are actually one big pull-out.
The floating shelves are another thing you havenât seen yet, and another thing that Iâll write a tutorial for in a future post â including how we drilled through the tile without disaster (it. was. nervewracking.) along with how we built them ourselves to custom-fit the space. We pretty much followed the same technique that we used for these floating shelves in our bonus room, but theyâre a little thicker and more heavy duty so they can support tons of bowls and mugs and cups.
cabinets | tile | counters | hardware | toaster | paper towel holder | mugs | pink cups | faux succulent
Sherry stained them âSpecial Walnutâ by Minwax, which is the same color we used for the floors throughout the house, so they tie in nicely and add some warmth and sort of an older/original vibe with the shiny new cabinets.
cabinets | tile | counters | hardware |coffee maker | toaster | mugs | pink cups | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White | doors: SW White Truffle
Okay, so now weâre back on the other side (the side with the green-y blue doors throughout). The kitchen layout is exactly the same on this side, just flipped, but the finishes and colors are different. So for example we have brass hardware in here, the shelves are a different color, the cabinets and backsplash are different, etc).
wood cabinets | white cabinets | tile | counters | range | pendant | faucet | hardware | tall cutting board |walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White
This is what this side looked like before, as seen from the living room. That window in the way back is the one that now sits over the sink.
Once again, widening that doorway and adding the transom really opened up this space in a major way. That kitchen window gets some of the best light on the first floor, so in person you can really appreciate how good it feels to have these rooms more open to each other.
cabinets | white cabinets | tile | dining chairs | similar dining table | chandelier | art | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White
This is the best before photo I could find of the now-kitchen itself. Apparently we were so distracted by the former kitchen (again, now the mudroom/laundry room) to take any good shots of the adjacent space. But it was basically just a big yellow room with a rando fridge in the middle of it. And some faux greenery⊠which Iâm not knocking because faux greenery is basically our love language these days. #Foreshadowing
And here is a similar view today. You can see that we actually shifted/narrowed the opening to our now mudroom/laundry room a little (and added those pocket doors) in order to create some wall space for the cabinets to terminate into.
cabinets | tile | counters | pendant | faucet | hardware |paper towel holder | toaster | coffee maker | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White | doors: SW Oyster Bay
When I was talking about how we built our shelves, I should have mentioned that we designed them to be 8âł deep, which is intentionally too narrow for heavy items like large plates or bowls. We know some people donât love the idea of open shelves because they worry the items might get dusty, so most of the actual serving stuff (bowls, wine glasses, plates, etc) are still stored in the cabinets. These are just a nice place for smaller overflow things like measuring cups and cutting boards and tea mugs that are often kept out on a rack or a counter anyway â along with some decorative things like vases/plants.
cabinets | tile | counters | pendant | faucet | hardware | mugs | paper towel holder | toaster | coffee maker
We lucked out that the pine we purchased to build these shelves was VERY similar in color to the Ikea cabinets that we chose. So instead of staining them, we just clear-sealed these so theyâd echo the blonde cabinet color. In these pictures they donât look as identical as they do in person (when you look at them in real life, theyâre so similar it feels like they were sold as a matching set).
cabinets | tile | counters | pendant | faucet | hardware | tall cutting board | large faux fern | pink cups
As for what else is in the cabinets, weâre thinking weâll film some sort of âcabinet tourâ once weâve got everything fully moved in an organized. We ended up with a similar number of cabinets to our beach house kitchen, so weâre going to mimic a lot of the systems in there. Plates and flatware will go in the cabinet next to the sink. The drawers flanking the stove will get pots, pans, and other cooking stuff & servingware. The lesser used storage items will go in the upper cabinets, and weâve got pantry storage in the adjacent mudroom/laundry room.
The smaller number of cabinets in here might not fit every possible gadget that someone might want to have in their full time home (especially a super chef-y person), but we love knowing that we have all of the basics covered with THREE CABINETS/DRAWERS TO SPARE. Itâs nice to know thereâs room to grow if we forgot something â but thereâs already a ton of stuff in here (including things like ziplock bags, cooking oil, pyrex, a spaghetti strainer, soap & cleaning stuff, a vegetable peeler, an ice cream scooper, etc, etc, etc).
cabinets | tile | counters | pendant | faucet | hardware | large faux fern | pink cups | mugs | paper towel holder | toaster | coffee maker
Weâre hopeful that next week weâll have photos of both fully finished mudroom/laundry rooms for you â plus give a peek at how our little twin bed sleeping nooks turned out. And by that point I think youâll have pretty much seen everything except the backyard, which is still in progress.
cabinets | backsplash tile | counters | hardware | mugs | paper towel holder | toaster | coffee maker | floor tile | towels | walls: SW Spare White | trim: SW Extra White | doors: SW Oyster Bay
And if youâre someone who has been thinking about renting the duplex, weâve listed each side separately so hereâs the info for ya.
So hereâs the link to the Left Side (with the pink doors) and the link to the Right Side (with the blue doors). Each side sleeps up to 6 people (plus one baby â pack ân play & sheet provided!). If youâre interested in booking both sides at one time, just check the availability and book each of them for the same dates and the whole house is yours!
Right now weâre only offering weekly rentals for the peak summer season ((Saturday to Saturday, late June through August). If youâre looking for something shorter than a week this summer, places like Hotel Cape Charles, The Northampton Hotel, and Bay Haven Inn offer nightly rooms for around $220-260. And as much as we love our dog, these rentals wonât be pet-friendly. Weâre just trying to be extra sensitive to allergies and noise, especially considering that this is two homes with a shared wall.
Update: Itâs almost all booked up! Holy cow! There are just two more weeks available on the right side (click the black Saturday date you want and itâll highlight the week in blue and then you can click the following Saturday to request to book that week). Weâre planning to offer shorter off-season rentals in the spring/fall too, but weâre warming up by renting for the summer season first (since weâll be nearby at the pink house if an issue pops up). But weâll make a big announcement after off-season bookings when those are available.
Itâs exciting (and nerve-wracking!) to finally open this sweet house up for reservations, so please bear with us as we work out any kinks during our first go at a short-term vacation rental. You know weâll tell you everything we learn. And oh boy do we expect there to be a learning curve!
You can also check out our Cape Charles Travel Guide that we posted last year if youâre curious about what there is to do/eat there. Since weâve written that, more shops have popped up â like a few new bakeries and even an escape room thatâs coming!
P.S. You can see all of the other finished rooms of the duplex that weâve already revealed along with how we tiled the bathrooms, planned the layout, and screamed into a pillow when the review board denied an architectural change we were dying to make here in our duplex category.

Update: Itâs not sold out! Weâre getting lots of questions from people saying âis it all sold out until next year already?!â but itâs just the way Airbnb shows weekly rentals. Just the check-in Saturday will show up in black (available) on the calendar (the whole week doesnât show up as available when you first glance at the calendar). But if you click on any available black Saturday in June, July, or August, the full weeklong rental gets highlighted in blue and you can then click on the following Saturday (your checkout day) to request to book that week. So sorry it looks like nothing is open! There are actually lots of openings in July/August as of right now.
We plan to offer shorter off-season rentals in the spring/fall too, but weâre warming up by renting for the summer season first â since weâll be nearby at the pink house if an issue pops up.

And if youâre someone who has been thinking about renting the duplex, weâve listed each side separately, so hereâs the Left Side (with the pink doors) and the Right Side (with the blue doors).
We plan to offer shorter off-season rentals in the spring/fall too, but weâre warming up by renting for the summer season first â since weâll be nearby at the pink house if an issue pops up.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Coastal Farmhouse
Happy Easter, my friends! I hope youâre being able to enjoy this long weekend surrounded by your loved ones! Iâll be cooking, baking and enjoying quiet time with my family. But before I do that, I wanted to leave you guys with a very special âBeautiful Homes of Instagramâ feature.
Jessica of @carcabaroad, along with her husband Jody, designed and build this coastal farmhouse to raise their growing family. They tried to keep costs down while building this beach house and Jessica is sharing a few details about that here on Home Bunch.
Besides being busy raising their four children, they also have FOUR rental properties in Florida and, listen closely, they have renovated or built and designed all of them. How do they do all that? I am sure Jessica hides a âSuperwomanâ cape somewhere in her closet!
Enjoy this inspiring house tour and now you know whom to contact if youâre planning a vacay in Florida!
âPeople often ask how we keep our home so tighty and WHITE with four children. Our home is not always as seen on Instagram, it took days to make the entire home photo ready for the shoot. With endless options in design I tend to play it safe with neutrals and white because you can always add greenery or a pop of color with a rug, its easy to switch up a space once you become bored with it if your base is light. Our house lives well and is most definitely lived in! We make slime, we bake, we build forts, but we also are intentional about our purchases. Lately when we go on a target run we try and ask ourselves âdo we need this?â One refreshing thing about moving was simplifying and decluttering and I have tried to keep up with that organization and clean slate. Rather then each kid.coming home with a junk toy, we will buy a family board game or legos, a seasonal craft. something they can do together. Like every child it can a challenge to do chores but we try to make them keep their rooms clean.â
Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Coastal Farmhouse
Welcome to our Florida farmhouse! My husband and I designed and built the 2,900 sq ft 6 bedroom 3 bath home after finding this beautiful 75 by 130 sqft lot in Paradise just a block from the beach and short walk to the intercoastal.

Welcome
Our main goal as a family of 6 with 4 growing children was to build a house with an open floor plan that we could grow along with. I am one of six kids and we did a lot of room changes through our adolescence some of us as siblings would share rooms and then at other ages we would want our own space. I was sure to keep the future in mind while designing this floor plan. We shrunk the sq footage of the bedrooms to maximize living space and added a second upstairs living area. We weâre blessed with a beautiful view and windows and transoms were definitely on our top must haves.

Keeping Room
Definitely thereâs no need for a fireplace in Florida but Iâve always dreamed of one and my husband surprised me one day and came home with it. That began the search for the perfect mantle and believe it or not the old piece of drift wood we used was sitting in our garage brought back from the Bahamas by his uncle. It was part of an old ship and all of the holes are from sea worms. Adds the perfect amount of character to this modern space.

The Penrose-Sere House, built in 1834 in New Orleans, Louisiana has been renovated. I noticed that the new Real Estate ploy for this is to omit the real year the home was built. Instead they list 2023 as the year. They are asking $2.695M for this 5bd, 7ba "new" build.
New light floors, but they restored the fireplace and left the railing plus an original window. Of course, it's all white w/black accents, even the restored fireplace.
The reception room. I can see a glimmer of original features.
The sitting room has leaded glass windows and the original fireplace.
Sun porch with original windows, but painted gray.
The dining room has a new opening and the kitchen is along the side.
The new kitchen makes me snow blind, not even any color in the quartz island and counters or backsplash. Ooh, look they left a transom.
This main floor bedroom has a black fireplace and a flying saucer light. At least they left the moldings on the walls. You could paint and wallpaper to bring back some Victorian elements.
Hate the new bath, but at least it has a fireplace.
Bedroom with 3 pc. bath, just like a new build.
Bedrooms were reconfigured so they can all have en-suites.
This one has a small shower room done in black & gray.
There's a sink up here. Must be a laundry room.
Think that this is a finished attic with a kitchenette.
2nd fl. terrace.
Brand new perfectly pruned yard enclosed by a stockade fence.
This was such a fine house. At least they didn't alter the exterior architecture.
So pretty. But, not sure about that interior.

Serena Williams Buys New Pad in 90210 Right Before Listing Bel Air Mansion
Juergen Hasenkopf/Getty Images
Tennis legend and new mom Serena Williams is holding court in the real estate market.
According to real estate gossip Yolanda, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champ recently paid $6.68 million for a brand-new five-bedroom home in Beverly Hills, CA. The three-story home on a quarter-acre lot boasts an open floor plan and views of the city and valley.
The white kitchen has a black stone island with dramatic white veins. The master bath reverses the color scheme and features black cabinets topped with white stone.
The backyard is mostly pool along with a small grassy area. The deal closed on Oct. 19, and the trust purchasing the 90210 home is the same trust behind a recent for-sale listing in Bel Air.

In Bel Air, Williams is attempting to sell a multiple-acre estate in the Stone Canyon area, according to Variety. The asking price here is $12 million.
The 6,101-square-foot, six-bedroom home is sited on a 2.7-acre lot with old-growth trees, well-tended gardens, and private hiking trails.
A tall hedge hides the powder-blue house, and a colonnade connects the three-car garage to the main house. The house features a semicircular living room with transom windows set above a wall of french doors, and the formal dining room opens to a patio.

The kitchen boasts cherry-colored cabinets, marble counters, and the tallest pot-scrubbing faucet weâve ever seen. The master suite comes with a Juliet balcony and bath with a claw-foot tub and steam shower.
Thereâs also an exercise room with a mirrored wall on the main floor, and a backyard pool surrounded by flagstone and headed by an open pavilion with outdoor fireplace.
Williams is the No. 1-ranked womenâs singles player and the greatest female tennis player of all time. She holds 39 Grand Slam titles. In September, she gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. The father is Williamsâ fiancĂ©, Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder.

St. Paul, Minn. | $548,000
A two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium in a 1904 Regency Revival building
This home is in the Ramsey Hill neighborhood, known for its concentration of Victorian buildings on tree-lined streets. F. Scott Fitzgerald grew up a few blocks away. Converted into condos in the 1980s, the 16-unit building is named for Nathan Hale, as is a park across the street, with a statue of the executed Continental Army spy. (The statue is the first known tribute to Hale west of the Ohio River.) Historic houses, shops, restaurants and bars are nearby, with a concentration of businesses along Selby Avenue, four blocks north.
Size: 1,280 square feet
Price per square foot: $428
Indoors: The unit is a third-floor walk-up. It has large windows, wood floors, paneled wainscoting and nine-and-a-half-foot ceilings.
The front door opens to a hallway, with a living room on the left, a combined dining room and kitchen on the right, and a pair of bedrooms straight ahead. The living room has a wall of built-in cabinetry and a facing pair of closets. The kitchen is fitted out with white cabinets topped with stone (in the case of the square seating island) or butcher block (for the work counters). The stainless steel appliances include a Viking range.
Both bedrooms have operable glass transoms over their paneled doors, and both bathrooms have black-and-white-honeycomb tiled floors, marble-topped vanities and walk-in showers. The master bedroom includes a walk-in closet that connects to a bathroom with twin sinks. (It can also be entered from the hallway.) The second bedroom has a wall of built-in bookshelves and is currently used as a study. The unit also has a stacked washer and dryer in a hallway closet.

Albany International Airport, in New York, and Bradley International Airport, in Connecticut, are about an hour away.
Size: 2,872 square feet
Price per square foot: $188
Indoors: The house minimizes energy consumption through blown-in cellulose insulation, upgraded triple-pane fiberglass windows, superior air sealing and a heat-recovery ventilator, among other strategies.
The main level has polished, radiant-solar-heated concrete floors and quarter-sawn oak trim throughout, and centers on a large, open room with a post-and-beam loft built of Douglas fir.

32 Hamptons Style Home Ideas
Hamptons Style has been a popular choice for those who are looking for that Aussie beach house feel. It is characterized with the wide use of wood, neutral and ocean inspired palette and a lot of elements in white giving off that bright and airy ambiance. This laid back coastal style can be achieved through the following tips:
Exposed Roof Trusses
You can never go wrong with exposing your roof trusses and painting them all white! It will enhance the height of your space. Complement this by adding some skylights and bring the sky in your interiors.
Wood Accents
The use of wood is widespread in the Hamptons style. Why not use a crisp color of wood to make it standout in your white walls? Just like this minimalist rustic shelving which is the accent of this space.
Entry Height and Glass
Hamptons Style is all about the airy and light feel. Why not enhance your entrance with the use of double height glass framing your door? Add a nice industrial chandelier piece to cap off that look.
Splash of Navy Blue
The all-white exterior look is common for this Style. Break the norm by adding to your whites some strong Navy Blue shades inspired by the deep waters.
Gables, Gables, Gables!
One can easily distinguish this style from afar by the looks of its roof. Gable roofs should be a sure tick on your checklist!
Large Balconies
Match your gables with spacious balconies, oriented on the cooler side of the house. Itâs definitely a perfect spot for chilling out. Complement this big space with lightweight-looking white rails.
Hints of Blue Hues and Beach Decors
White is a staple in the Hamptons Style. Boost the beach house feel by adding some blue fabrics and linen on your white chunky furniture. The look is not complete without some seashells and faux corals as accents.
Shaker Kitchen Cabinets
Minimalist yet elegant, no wonder the Shaker style cabinets are a classic. This country-looking storage spaces fits the kitchen of your Hamptons inspired home.
Timber Flooring
Wood floors add a cozy look to any home. Make your timber flooring standout by retaining its natural color or apply it with a beautiful stain.
Lantern Style Lighting
These nice pendant lantern style luminaires draw the eyes upward in this room. Choosing fixtures with black metal trims add an industrial touch to your Hamptons interiors.
Marble worktops
The use of marble is also prominent for this style. Marble on top of your wood cabinetry makes the kitchen look warm and neat.
Black and White
This black and white ensemble gives an urbane taste in this openly planned kitchen and living room. Include some soft tones of grays to your fabrics for that more relaxed ambiance.
Tall Windows and Transoms
Bring in more light and air through large fenestrations. No wonder the French-style doors and transoms of this breakfast nook goes well in combination with this style. Aside from the natural lighting, isnât the view lovely?
Bold and Chic Furnishings
Anything seems to go well with white. Feel free to add neutral yet chic pieces and patterns. Just like the bold lines on the rug used in this bedroom which matched with the black window frame.
All-White Exteriors
Canât decide on which color to add on your exterior walls? This style is perfect to go all-white. The timber paneling on this white-painted house added texture and shadows which made it elegant rather than just plain.
Warm Lights
Brighten up your backyard with a mix-and-match of sophisticated luminaires. Go for warm light temperature to increase that laidback mood. String lights never goes old.
Bring the Outdoors In
Blur the boundaries of indoors and outdoors with wide glass doors which open up to the backyard or lanai. Definitely this goes best with a well-landscaped gardenâŠand a swimming pool!
Gable finals
This white house absolutely stood out in its simplicity due to its neat design and most specially the finials on its gables. These finials make the gables that bit more hamptons style.
Wood Moldings
Embellish your exteriors and interiors with wood moldings. Similarly with this house, you can explore on dentils and dado rails.
Classic Picket Fence
What better way to go with a timber house but the use of picket fences. This classic piece goes well with white paint.
Contemporary Vibes
Explore on color combinations. The navy blue color in the kitchen counter went well with the orange-like wood stain color of the flooring, bringing in a balance of warm and cool temperature in this space.
Open Plan Interiors
Reduce walls in your interiors and unite your common areas. In here, the open kitchen spills over linking with the living area, both overlooking through that great view in the balcony.
Matte Black Metal Accents
This laundry area surely has style! The matte black tapware and handles gives a minimalist yet bold contrast to this utility space.
Tile Textures and Lines
Going monochromatic on your Hamptons styled home doesnât limit you to just go plain and bare. Play with some textures on your bathroom tiling as such: a combination of clean lines on the accent wall tiles and crazy-cut marble flooring.
Sheer Curtain Fabric
You would not want to miss curtains on your checklist. Achieve the light and airy feel of your space with translucent fabric for your draperies.
Minimalist and Raw Finishes
Minimal design with raw touches makes this space effortlessly beautiful. Adorning it with neutral colored fabrics and furniture completes this look.
Window Shutters
Shutters are a classic detail to Hamptons houses. Aside from the shade it brings, these shutters bring in bonus lines and textures to your interiors.
Elegant Shower Niche
This shower niche is absolutely an eye-catcher with its herringbone pattern popping out of the white subway tiles. For a monochromatic look, go for soft grays on your accent tiles.
Rattan Tropical
Tropical beach houses are recognizable with Rattan textures. These add warmth and a laidback character to your interiors.
Tropical and Bright
Welcome Mr. Sun and bring in summer-vibes in your Hamptons home with a mix of brightly colored stylish pieces, play of textures and tropical furniture.
Wainscoting wall panelling
Bring in some detailed wall panels and skirting that go to half height. These not only protect the walls but look stunning. These are often placed around the stair cases.
Hamptons style plants
Plants can make your home a lot nicer. Think well kept luxurious style hedges. These will give your home a classy look and add a bit more colour to your home.
