FAV FAV FAV. Honestly their whole situation is a very fun combination of, funny, sweet, and mayhaps most importantly pretty fucked up <3.

Of course you've got the fact that the two sincerely enjoy each other's company and genuinely are willing to put their lives in danger to protect each other. This is clear from basically the start of Dungeon Meshi, which begins with Falin sacrificing herself so that the rest of her party (Marcille very much part of that) can escape the maw of a dragon, and then Marcille no questions asked agreeing to not just go back into said dungeon to save Falin through resurrection, but to be willing to eat monsters to do so no matter how much she hates it.

But even more than that, and while I know I'm FAR from the only person to say this, a really interesting thing about both Marcille and Falin is that while being cringefail and endearingly sweet (respectively) is a big part of their surface characters, they've both got more ambiguous and somewhat selfish/sinister traits lurking under the surface. Without going into it too much, it becomes more clear over the manga's runtime that Falin, while still very sweet and self-sacrificing to a fault, is also willing to potentially give others a painful death if it means the people she loves survive, and that Marcille's fascination with forbidden magic such as necromancy runs along the same lines. The ties between selfishness, selflessness, and what can result from the combination of the two is a pretty big theme in Dungeon Meshi, with Marcille and Falin both standing as pretty interesting figures for the ways they try to navigate a world of clashing desires and the resulting trauma, including their own.

Also they both have such a wide range of expressions and story arcs to explore their characters like your other girl best friends could never:
