Doctor's In - Part 8
Summary: It's Thanksgiving, your first official holiday with Wanda. Someone stops by to create a little havoc.
Wanda Maximoff x F!R
All the houses look the same, at least to him. The navigation system in his rental car isnât any better.
Or maybe his sister gave him a fake address just to mess with him.
After a while, he decides itâs enough, pulling over when he sees someone jogging around the neighborhood.
âExcuse meâ
âHeyâ the woman says, stopping. Her smile is wide, and Pietroâs taken aback by how friendly she seems with a stranger.
âIâm looking for an address, can you help me out?â
âSureâ
âItâs Hill Drive 216â
âRight, well all you have to do is drive straight ahead for five blocks. Then turn right and then leftâ the woman says, leaning over the car window. As sheâs giving directions, he canât help but stare at her toned legs in full display.
âI really appreciate it. Maybe I can buy you some coffee to thank you?â
âSure. See ya aroundâ she says with a smirk, running in the opposite direction. Pietro didnât get her number, but he figures she might know Wanda. So theyâll meet again.
In no time, he finds Wandaâs house. The woman is already sitting in the porch, as if she can feel her twin brother coming.
âThis was supposed to be a surprise. You donât look surprisedâ
âYou asked my neighbor for my address. She called to know if you were a creep so sheâd call the cops on youâ
âWhat? She was so nice. And sheâs very hot. You should have told me you had hot neighborsâ
Wanda gives him a cryptic smile, but he doesnât have time to ask the meaning behind it, as Tommy and Billy come running down the stairs.
âUncle Pietro!â
âBratanâ he says, allowing the boys to tackle him to the ground. âYouâre so big! What is your mom feeding you two?â
The boys laugh, pulling him inside so they can tell him all about school, soccer and their videogames.
A half hour later, thereâs a knock at the door.
âIâll get itâ he volunteers. To his surprise, the girl he spoke to earlier is on the other side. Sheâs now wearing jeans and a long sleeved sweater.
âHey, Pietroâ
âI didnât⊠tell you my nameâ
But before he can connect the dots, Wanda walks past him, standing on her toes to kiss the woman.
âHey, baby. Apparently you already met Pietroâ
âOh, yeah. Heard he was hoping to get a hot date out of some simple directionsâ
At that, his sister and her girlfriend let out a laugh, and he groans, hiding his face in his hands.
â
It was totally worth it, to see Pietroâs face as realization hit him. You were Wandaâs girlfriend.
He looks shocked, and embarrassed as you walk past him, Wandaâs hand in yours.
âAt least the Maximoffs have consistency in their tasteâ you comment, making Wanda laugh and Pietro blushes.
âShe never sent me a picture of you, ok? How was I to know?â
âI didnât send it because I knew youâd fall for her and she is all mineâ Wanda rolls her eyes, arms around your waist. You kiss her temple, smiling.
âAre you staying for Thanksgiving?â you ask, curious about his plans for the holidays.
âThatâs the ideaâ
âYouâre little buddy Rogers isnât joining us?â you glare, so he knows you know what he tried to do.
âOh, yeah. Heard you felt threatened by him. Still jealous, Y/N?â
âJealous? Iâm a Trauma surgeon, for goodness sake. What is your job, by the way? Snowboarding? Or do you call it snow? You know, like Ken in the Barbie movieâ
âIt gets me all the girlâs phone numbersâ he arches an eyebrow.
âYou certainly didnât get mineâ
âStop itâ Wanda laughs it off to ease the tension, standing between you two. âItâs Thanksgiving. The holidays. A time to forgive and enjoyâ
âFine,â he agrees. âTruce?â
âNot until you take the kids for a movie so we have an afternoon to ourselvesâ you say, because now that youâre back to work itâs been harder to get alone time with your girlfriend.
âAlrightâ
â
âItâs very important to meâ Wanda says, stuttering lightly as you kiss down her neck.
âOf course, babyâ you say, holding her hips as she tries to continue the conversation. Sheâs saying something against your lips, so you roll her nipple between your fingers, which makes her quiet for a few minutes.
Then, youâre between her legs when she starts talking again.
âHeâs my brother, weâve known each other our whole lives. I really want him to get to know youâ
âWandaâ you sigh, defeated. You look up, with a smile at her disheveled state. âCan we not talk about your brother when Iâm eating you out?â
âSorryâ
You kiss her thighs, going up to lie next to her.
âOr am I that bad at giving you head these days, baby?â
âItâs not thatâ she rushes to say, straddling your lap. Wanda pecks your lips to appease you, hands going up and down your arms. You squeeze her hips, encouraging her to continue. âBut I mean it, I want you to get alongâ
âI was joking before. Mostlyâ
âY/Nâ she whines and you smile.
âOk, I just feel⊠the last time we almost broke up because he was trying to test me using Steve, right? Iâm a bit butthurt about it, you know Iâm proud and petty like that. And Iâm not⊠Iâve never met someoneâs family. I told you Iâm not good with this relationship stuffâ
âAll you have to do is tryâ she says, leaning down to kiss you. âAnd absolutely nothing will break us apart, my loveâ
âPromise?â
âSwearâ she says against your lips. You kiss her again, hands going down to her ass.
âCan I carry on now or would you like to talk about more family members?â
âCarry onâ Wanda giggles when you flip her on her back, but those turn to moans pretty soon, feeling how your tongue works through her folds.
â
âOk, guys, just like we practicedâ Pietro says as he parks in the street, looking at the twins. They nod, staying inside the car while their uncle walks to the door.
âHey, sestra⊠ah, seriously?!â
All he sees as he walks in is his sisterâs head thrown back on the couch, and he can guess where you are.
âI thought you locked the doorâ Wanda reprimands you, but you just smirk, getting dressed. You make sure that only Pietro is within earshot when you smack Wandaâs ass, and she yelps.
The man is glaring when Wanda opens the door, her hair a mess and your shirt all wrinkled.
âWhere are the kids? Why are they waiting in the car?â
In that moment, the twins open the car door, and you can see they are carrying a small, white dog. You want to cackle, because Pietro is so dead. But you keep a neutral expression, staying behind Wanda.
âYou idiotâ Wanda says, followed by a string of curses in Sokovian. Youâve never seen her this upset and itâs kinda hot.
âCome on, kids. Letâs go back to my place and bathe this little dudeâ
âNo, please donât leave me alone with herâ Pietro pleads as Wanda pulls him by the ear.
âSorry, I donât want to be a witness to whatever it is sheâll do to youâ you give him finger guns, hurrying back to take the kids to your place. Itâs pretty obvious Wanda wonât appreciate you using her bathtub to take care of the pup.
âSo, wanna tell me what happened?â you say once youâre in the bathroom.
âWell, we found Sparky outside the cinema. He was looking for food in the garbage and was so sad and aloneâ
âDo you think Mom will let us keep him?â Tommy says.
âLetâs take him to the vet tomorrow. Maybe he escaped home and his owners are looking for himâ
The boys remain silent as you rinse the soap from Sparkyâs fur. Of course, he shakes as soon as youâre done, drops of water flying everywhere. Billy and Tommy laugh, which makes you smile.
They had never brought up the subject of pets, but you have a feeling that itâs because Wanda had told them that the answer was going to be no, no matter what.
You use an old t-shirt and your blow dryer to get him all fluffy. He is a cute dog, thatâs for sure.
âCome on, letâs get back homeâ you tell the kids, letting Tommy carry Sparky.
Pietro is in the porch, hand on his cheek as he sulks around the stairs. His ear is so red from all the pulling that Wanda did and you almost want to laugh.
âShe wonât talk to meâ he mumbles like a grumpy teenager.
âJeez, I wonder whyâ
You walk inside, going straight to Wandaâs room. Still, you knock and let her know itâs you.
âHey, love. Woahâ as soon as you open the door sheâs hugging you, and you donât know if her tears are from anger or sadness. âIâm here, whatâs wrong?â
âPietro is so⊠immature! Why would he think itâs a good idea to bring a dog into my home? He is always like this. Now, Iâll have to tell the kids we canât keep him and they will hate meâ
âWanda, they wonât hate you. Breathe for meâ you run your hands up and down her back. âHereâs what weâll do. Tomorrow I will drive with the kids to the vet, theyâll check for a microchip or anything else that tells us if he has a familyâ
âThey always wanted a pet and I just couldnât do it, it was too much work for one person and IâŠâ
âAnd you are not alone anymore, ok? You have me. And as it happens, my familyâs always had dogs. Donât stress, leave it to meâ you say, kissing her temple.
âThank you. Iâm staying here. Can you make sure the kids have dinner?â
âOf course, babyâ
You make a couple of sandwiches and let the kids eat in the living room, while Sparky walks around and smells everything. Itâs a good sign that heâs not peeing in every surface of the house.
Once the kids have dinner, you take the dog to the backyard, noticing the wooden fence needs some work, or Sparky will be able to escape.
Another thing on your list.
âIs Mom mad at us?â Billy asks when youâre upstairs, tucking them in. Sparky is in the corner, sleeping between Tommyâs shoes.
âNot at all, kiddo. Sheâs just not sure we can take care of Sparky. Dogs can be a lot of work, ya know?â
âDid you have dogs?â Tommy says from his bed and you nod.
âYeah, we had all kinds of dogs. Big ones, small like Sparky. You have to walk them, feed them, take them to the doctorâŠâ
âMaybe it is a lot of workâ Billy says, dropping his shoulders.
âHey, no worries, we will figure it out. Just make sure youâre nice to your mom. She just wants the best for everyone. Rest now. And Sparky doesnât sleep on anyoneâs bed, got it?â
The kids giggle at that, and you roll your eyes, knowing theyâll probably break that rule.
â
âWeâre homeâ you announce.
âHow did it go?â Wanda says, while Pietro is in the living room, pretending to read.
âNo microchip. But he did get blood work and everything seems fine, we also got him dewormed and he can start with vaccination in two weeksâ
âYou know a lot about dogsâ Pietro says, but shuts his mouth the minute Wanda turns to glare.
âSo, yeah. We could call a shelter and ask if they can take himâ
âBut he would be in one of those cages, aloneâ Wanda says, sounding sad.
âI guessâ
âLetâs just keep him until we figure something outâ she decides, looking as the kids play with the dog in the front yard.
âYeah, ok. We got him some kibble, plates, a new leash and a bed, so heâs all set. Iâll just have to fix the fenceâ
âOh? Will you wear your tool belt?â she says, biting her lip. Pietro gags from his place in the couch. Wanda turns to scold him. âKeep it up and youâre staying in a hotelâ
âBossy. And mean. I love itâ you say, pulling her closer. You share a quick, but passionate kiss.
âI could fix the fenceâ Pietro offers.
âYou donât even know how to drive a nail,â Wanda argues.
âIâm trying to do something nice, sestraâ
âYouâve done enoughâ
They begin to argue like a couple of teenagers so you have to step between them, raising your hands.
âEnough. Pietro can help me when I fix the fence. We all win. Isnât that great? Two of your favorite people working togetherâ you say.
âOnly oneâ Wanda says and Pietro is ready to fight when you snap your fingers.
âTo your corner, Pietroâ you warn him, dragging Wanda to the kitchen. âHey, gorgeousâ
âMmm?â she melts when you rub that spot in her lower back that always relaxes her.
âI donât think Pietro meant to do any harm with this. At most, he thought youâd end up loving Sparky more than meâ Wanda laughs, and she leans against you. âHeâs visiting and youâre always talking about how much you miss him, so try to forgive himâ
âYouâre rightâ
âYou sound surprised,â you joke, kissing her softly. âI have work. Iâll be back tomorrow, ok?â
âDonât leave. I know nothing about dogsâ she pleads.
âIâm always one call away, love of my lifeâ you promise.
â
Five missed calls. You sigh when you leave the OR, though it is from an unknown number.
Before you can return the call or contact Wanda to make sure sheâs fine, Darcy finds you, dragging you by the hand without any explanation.
âDoes this belong to you?â she says, pulling the curtain to reveal Pietro, holding an ice pack against his right hand.
âIt belongs to my girlfriendâ
âIt? Seriously?â he complains, but Darcy ignores him.
âCame in with hammered fingers and cries every time I try to examine himâ
âI will take a look. Thanks, palâ you force him to remove the ice pack, ignoring his protests. âWhat happened?â
âI tried to fix the fenceâ
âMhmâ you bend his fingers and move them around, trying to check if thereâs a fracture. He complains and tries to jank his hand back, but you donât let him.
âCanât you take some X-Rays?â
Now, whereâs the fun in that?
âHonestly, I think youâll just have some swelling and pain. Letâs put a bandage in those three fingers and make sure you donât move them too muchâ
âAt least Wandaâs less mad at meâ
You smile.
âGlad to hear it. Did she drive you here?â
âNo, I wasn't in the mood to be lectured. I just told her I needed something from the hardware store and came straight to the ERâ
You nod, writing a prescription for him. Once youâre done, you take the hand, bandaging the three fingers together.
âYou know, I just worryâ he interrupts the silence.
âAbout what?â
âWell, has she ever told you about the twinsâ father?â
You glance back at him, arching an eyebrow.
âNo, and I respect that. If she ever feels like telling me, Iâm sure she will. So Iâd appreciate it if we keep it at that, Pietroâ
âIâll just say, he was the biggest asshole. And it almost destroyed her. I promised myself no one would hurt her againâ
You nod, still working in silence. Of course, the shovel talk. After the stunt he pulled with Rogers, this is nothing, really. Going along and nodding a few times might just do the trick.
âTo be fair, I never liked him. Youâre fine, I guessâ
âI can live with being just fine in the eyes of Frosty the snowmanâ you mutter, finishing the bandaging and giving him some pills. âNow go back home and let me take care of the fence when Iâm thereâ
An ambulance parks right outside of the ER and you excuse yourself. You donât notice Pietro hanging back, watching as you help the paramedics move a woman from their gurney to a hospital bed.
It isnât until a few hours later when youâre out of the OR and see a text from Wanda that you remember the incident.
Wanda: Thank you for checking Pietro.
Y/N: Happy to help the evil twin, love.
Wanda: What would that make me? The good twin?
Y/N: The hot, beautiful, angel twin.
The sound of your pager snaps you back to reality, which means the last hours of your shift will be busy.
â
âI should go and helpâ
âPlease, donâtâ
Wanda and Pietro are sitting in the backyardâs deck, watching as you fix the fence.
âDid you get Sparky as a test? To see how sheâd react?â
âThat is actually a great idea but noâ Pietro laughs, stretching his arms. âI canât believe you donât rememberâ
âRemember what?â
âWe were at school, back in Sokovia when we were five or six. The teacher asked us to draw our pet, but we didnât have one soâŠâ
âSo you drew a dragon and said you wanted one for our birthdayâ Wanda suddenly remembers, frowning. âBut what did I draw?â
âA white dog, with a very pink nose and fuzzy hair. And when we were at the theater, I saw him and thought, thatâs my sisterâs dogâ
Wanda laughs, trying not to cry at her brotherâs antics, wiping the corner of her eyes before she gets emotional. She reaches for his hand and he squeezes it, smiling.
âWhy havenât you told her about how you had the twins?â Pietro asks after a while, his voice soft.
âBecause⊠Iâm afraid sheâll see me differently. And I donât know if itâs worth it, dwelling in the past. Itâs done and nothing can change itâ
âItâs not about dwelling in the past, itâs about sharing everything that makes you who you are. And thatâs a big part of itâ Pietro insists, standing up when the boys show up with Sparky. âWeâre going to the park. See you for dinnerâ
Wanda stays on the deck, watching as you finish replacing the last wooden panel.
âI am so ready for a shower and a napâ you sigh, plopping down next to her. âAt least Sparky can be out safely nowâ
âHow can I pay for your very hard work?â Wanda says, and your hand squeezes her thigh.
âI can think of a few ways, Mrs. Maximoff. But when Iâm not all sweatyâ
âYouâll have to leave the toolbelt on, thoughâ she says, making you laugh as you kiss the spot behind her ear.
You enjoy the breeze as you sit together on the deck, drinking a beer while Wanda looks out her yard.
âIf I told you something, would you promise not to judge me?â
âI would never, my loveâ you say, putting a strand of hair behind her ear gently. âWhat is it?â
âItâs about the twinsâ
âUh. Did Pietro put you up for this?â you click your tongue. âYou donât have to tell me anything; whatever the situation is, I imagine itâs not easyâ
âI think⊠It would help explain why heâs so protective of me. And I want you to know, I doâ
âAlright, then. Iâm listeningâ
It takes her a moment to gather her thoughts, looking at her clasped hands.
âWe met in collegeâ she begins. âI was 20 and he was on an exchange program. Came from Oxford University, I think. We were in different faculties but somehow crossed paths at a party and got talking. It was the first time I was in loveâ
âHe was elegant and acted like a gentleman, and said funny things without being crass. He acted differently than the rest of guys I ever tried to date. So we were together the whole semester, until winter break came. I was considering inviting him over to spend Christmas with us when he got an unexpected visit from his fianceâ
You breathe deeply, knowing where this is going. Wanda still wonât look at you, and she takes a moment to continue.
âUhm. So, yeah. The minute I saw them together I wanted to scream, but all I could do was hide. I felt like such an idiot. He didnât even try to find me and apologize. And for a few weeks I was⊠sick. I threw up every morning, and felt tired. But I thought it was stressâ
âWanda, Iâm so sorryâ you say, pulling her close and kissing her temple. She leans against you, letting your touch ground her. Wandaâs hand goes to hold your own, and you squeeze it, trying to show your support.
âWhen I realized what it was, I tried talking to him. I thought he at least deserved to know. But he just wanted to give me some money to deal with it, in his wordsâ
Those words make your heart ache, but you grit your teeth. You admire Pietroâs self control more than ever.
âIâm gonna need you to give me a name so I can find him and kill himâ
âI let that go, for my sake. I had two babies to care for. No matter how it happened, I knew I always wanted them. So I told my parents everything and then Pietro, wellâŠâ
âHe went crazy, I can imagine. Canât really blame himâ
âSo, now you know it all. I still have things to figure out, because sometimes the kids ask me about their father and I donât know how to tell them he never cared about usâ she sighs, leaning against you.
âWeâll figure it out together, when the time comesâ you promise, kissing her cheek. âAnd you donât have to be afraid of me judging you, you did nothing wrong, Wands. Iâm so sorry you had to go through thatâ
âI just thought⊠I wanted you to knowâ
âDid you ever see him again? I mean, does he even know their names?â
âNo, and I hope it stays that way. If he comes back, I donât want him anywhere near Tommy and Billyâ her voice shakes with emotion, and a bit of her accent comes back.
âThatâs ok. We wonât let it happenâ you promise, kissing her temple.
âI love youâ
âI love you too. And our boysâ
âAnd our dogâ she says, which makes you look back at her. She smiles at your shocked expression. âWeâre keeping Sparky. No further commentâ
âYes, Maâamâ
â
The twins couldnât believe it when Wanda told them they could keep Sparky. Pietro smiled as the kids hugged their mother, promising to always take care of him.
âYouâre the best mom ever!â Tommy says, running around the living room.
âYouâre welcomeâ Pietro mocks as he walks past her, and she elbows him.
You spend the evening watching a movie in the living room, Sparky sitting between both boys.
The 36 hour shift, coupled with the work on the backyard leaves you exhausted, so 15 minutes into the movie you begin to fall asleep.
âCome on, sweetheartâ Wanda says when your head keeps loling to the side. âYou need to restâ
âNo, but I wanna know what happens with Big Welderâ you mumble. Wanda stands up, kissing your forehead and pulling you all the way to the stairs. After brushing your teeth and almost sleeping while standing up, you plop down in bed, taking everything off and deciding to sleep in nothing but your underwear.
âVery temptingâ Wanda comments when she sees you.
âI thought youâd be watching the movieâ you stretch, appreciating how Wandaâs eyes linger on your breasts.
âUh, they started playing video games. So that was my cue to goâ she crawls into bed with you, not ready to go to sleep but wanting to share some alone time. âBefore I forget, who are you inviting for Thanksgiving?â
âWhat do you mean?â
âWell, dinner. Weâre having turkey, the Bartonâs are stopping byâŠ. You do know itâs this Thursday, right?â
âI havenât had a Thanksgiving dinner in like 15 yearsâ
âYouâre kiddingâ Wanda says, and you shrug your shoulders.
âI started volunteering when I was 16 to avoid being home. And you know I rarely went back for that stuff. I think the most Iâve done is eat pizza with Darcy while weâre workingâ
âWell, Darcy should come too! Have her over, I only get to see her at the hospitalâ
âYou sure?â you say, smiling nervously. All you know about holidays in the last decade has been the chaos of a hospital.
âYeah. Itâs gonna be great, youâll love itâ she promises, kissing you.
â
Chaos isnât exclusive to the ER, it seems. Youâve had a busy morning, mowing the lawn, cleaning the deck and getting ready to set a large table for everyone whoâs joining. To your annoyance, Pietro is using his bruised hand as an excuse to not help.
âYouâre doing greatâ he gives you a thumbs up and you want to throw the broom straight to his head.
âYou could help your sister in the kitchenâ you say, wiping the sweat from your forehead and coming to look over his shoulder. âTinder? Seriously?â
âYeah, check this outâ he says, showing you some of the matches heâs had.
âOh, wowâ you whistle at a picture of a blonde woman in a bikini. Youâre about to comment something else when you hear a cough behind you. Of course, Wanda is staring, her signature head tilt letting you know youâre in danger.
âI mean, oh, wow, what a horrible, unattractive person. Blegh. So not my typeâ you say, pretending to gag.
âIâm only letting it slide because itâs Thanksgivingâ she warns and you nod.
âYes, love. Iâm sorryâ
Pietro snorts and you turn to slap the back of his head.
âSestra, are you gonna let her do that to your brother?â
âYesâ Wanda says, leaning forward to snatch his phone. âCome help me in the kitchen. Nowâ
âYou know, Iâm twelve minutes olderâ he says as they go back inside.
Once youâre done with mowing and picking up the dry leaves, you set a table across the backyard and some lights for extra decoration. Hoping the kids wonât look, you set up a trampoline you know theyâve been asking for.
âAlright, come superviseâ you ask Wanda, and for some reason the entire Maximoff entourage follows behind.
âIt looks amazing!â she says, inspecting the lights you installed. âI love theseâ
âI know. I may have stalked your Pinterest board, @witchy16â
âBilly, look!â Tommy points at the trampoline, running to try it out, his brother close behind.
âBe carefulâ Wanda warns. âIâm not sure I love thatâ
âThey can use it only when Iâm aroundâ you promise, turning to her. âThat way I can get more alone time with my girlâ
Wanda laughs, but the sound is drowned out by your lips on hers, and your hands travel south to squeeze her ass.
âIâm right here!â Pietro complains, which makes you smirk.
âI didnât see you, sorryâ Wanda says.
âI didâ you smile, earning a slap on the shoulder from your girlfriend. Something pings in the kitchen, so she excuses herself.
âYou know, we usually save the presents for lastâ
âWhat presents? This isnât Christmasâ you say.
âPeople give each other presents during Thanksgiving too. Isnât it obvious? How do you give thanks to someone? You get them somethingâ he insists, which makes you doubt yourself. Pietro leaves to join the twins on the trampoline.
Maybe heâs right. What if Wanda got you something and after everything sheâs done to make sure you enjoy this holiday, you have nothing to give back.
Fuck.
âHey, sweetheart. Are you done in the backyard?â Wanda says when you walk in.
âI⊠yeah. Do you want me to do anything else?â
âNo, thatâs fine. Iâm just letting everything in the oven for now. Come sitâÂ
âActually⊠I need to go check somethingâ you lie, feeling awful about it. But you have to get her a present.
âAt the hospital?â
âYes. I wonât take long, I promiseâ you say when she looks disappointed. âIâll be back in an hour and Iâll help with whateverâs missingâÂ
âI just want us to spend time together,â she smiles, taking your hands. You lean forward, kissing her. âOh, and call Darcy, I just want to confirm sheâs comingâ
âYes, my loveâÂ
Pretending to be super calm, you walk to your car. You only let panic take over when youâre driving around, finding the traffic to be awful. Seems like people always leave everything for the last minute, and you hate yourself for not thinking about this sooner.
You canât let Wanda down.
Darcyâs the only person who can help out, so you call her while you try to find a place to park.
âHelloâ
âHey. Wanda wanted to confirm youâre coming to dinnerâ
âI am, only for the amazing food. But the hospital will page me if thereâs an emergency so donât expect me to stay for longâ
âGot it. By the way, did uh, your family happen to give each other presents during Thanksgiving?â
âNo, they only get drunk and yell at each other. Why? Do I have to bring a present? Because then Iâm outâ
âNo, that was just me being stupid, never mind. See you at sevenâ
You hang up, leaving the car to walk around the shops. Most of them are closed, because of course, itâs a holiday. The only places still working are supermarkets. So, what? Will you have to get your perfect girlfriend toilet paper and say âhappy holidaysâ?
After walking down several blocks, you finally find a jewelry store open.Â
âWelcome. How can I help you?â a woman says.
âHi. I canât believe youâre open at this time of dayâ you comment, looking around the store. Wanda never really wears bracelets, or earrings. Necklaces, yes. Though theyâre always very discreet.Â
âYou wouldnât believe the amount of people who have to buy a peace offering for the holidaysâÂ
âHuhâ
âOr last minute engagementsâÂ
âOh. Thatâs definitely not the caseâ you smile, and something behind the woman catches your eye. âThatâs a nice pearl necklaceâ
The woman puts on her sales hat, telling you every detail about the very elegant, very real pearls and how it is an absolute must for any woman. It honestly doesnât take a lot of convincing. Itâs beautiful and you remember how Wanda mentioned she always wanted one, but considered it a bit of a silly expense with two kids and no real use for it.
âIâll take itâÂ
âYou donât want to look at the price?â
âI imagine itâs those four figures thereâ
âYesâ
âYeah. Thatâs fine. Iâm a trauma surgeonâ you explain with a smile, feeling a little smug.Â
âSheâs a lucky ladyâ
You donât really agree, considering this is very last minute. For the twins, you decide to take some of the Christmas presents you started to buy for them and store at your house.
And as much as Pietro annoys you, youâll have to get him something too.Â
Looking at the time, you decide to keep shopping for a bit longer, hoping no one notices if youâre gone too long.Â
Wanda definitely notices. By the time you come back home, youâre sneaking around with a few boxes but she comes out of the kitchen.
âWhere have you been?âÂ
Her tone makes you jump, and you look at her with wide eyes.
âIâŠâ
âDoesnât matter. I need you to go to the supermarket and get me some boxes of mac and cheese for all the kids. And a few bottles of wine, in case Laura and Clint stay longerâÂ
âOkâ you say, wishing she had called you since you were around the supermarket not long ago.Â
By the time you finish all her errands, itâs four and youâll only have an hour or two to rest.Â
âHey, hereâs everything you asked forâ you greet with a smile, hoping Wanda is less stressed now.
âOh, thank you, sweetheart. I think the Bartons arenât even staying for dinner so I made you go for no reason, Iâm sorryâ
âItâs okâ you say, putting your arms around her. âWhatâs wrong?â
âI want this to be perfect. For you to know that having a family is nice so you wonâtâŠâ she trails off, trying not to look at you.
âSo I wonât, what?â
âSo you wonât leave. Itâs sillyâ
âHey, Iâd never leave⊠sorryâ you grumble, looking at your phone and ignoring the call.
âIf you need to pick up...â
âItâs just my landlord asking about the lease renewalâ you roll your eyes which makes her laugh. âAs I was saying, I donât need a perfect Thanksgiving as a reason to stay. I love you. Thatâs itâ
âI love you tooâ she smiles, leaning forward to kiss you. With your hands on her cheeks, you deepen the kiss, enjoying how she sighs against your lips when your tongue darts out. Then, your hands travel south to squeeze her ass, encouraging her to put her legs around your waist.Â
âHey, can weâŠ? Ugh, not againâ Pietro says, covering his eyes. âWeâre thirstyâ
Without dropping Wanda, you go through the stuff in the fridge and hand him some drinks.
âWeâll be upstairs, donât go up in⊠20 minutesâ you say, making Wanda giggle.
âYou guys are gross,â Pietro complains, crashing against the table as he keeps his eyes closed.
âCome on, letâs make those 20 minutes countâ you say, carrying Wanda to the bedroom.
â
The Bartons arrive at 7, just like Wanda told them to. Sparky is the main attraction, as all the kids coo and aw at the funky little dog that loves all the attention.
âPietro, nice to finally meet you. Iâve heard so much about youâ Laura says.
âOnly good things, I hopeâ
âThat must have been a short conversationâ you laugh at your own joke, while Pietro glares.
The kids run around the yard as Laura and Wanda chat, Clint handing over Nathaniel to you while Pietro talks about his job.
Darcy shows up a little later, and you make your rounds, introducing her to everyone that hasnât met her yet.Â
âYou againâ she says when her eyes land on Pietro.Â
âWhat? Youâve heard a lot about me too?âÂ
âYeah, mostly bad shitâ
âBad wordâ all the kids turn to point at her, and she facepalms.
âFuckâ
âTwo bad words!â Cooper says. Laura covers Lilaâs ears, though she is laughing. You clasp your hands over Darcyâs mouth because you know she can keep going forever.
âKids, have you tried going on our brand new trampoline? You can take Sparky with youâ that gets them distracted enough, running away to the backyard. âThere. Donât worry, it took me a minute to get used to the no swearingâ
âThis is why I donât hang out at PG-13 events. Anyways, I brought some stuff to make pumpkin cocktails and guacamole. Help yourselvesâ Darcy says, holding a bag of tortilla chips.
âNobody eats guacamole at Thanksgivingâ Pietro says.Â
âThey do if theyâre Mexican. We can pretend. Iâll call you Pedro all night longâ Darcy says just to annoy him. âPlus, this is all I can makeâÂ
âAre all surgeons bad cooks?â Wanda teases, and youâre dumb enough to answer honestly.
âNot all! Carol is actually a great⊠huhâ you scratch the back of your neck at Wandaâs glare.Â
âSomeoneâs in trouble,â Pietro guesses.
âYeahâ Wanda tilts her head, making you smile weakly.Â
âIâm making cocktailsâ Darcy interrupts everyone, dragging you to the kitchen. For a while, you talk about some patients that arrived during the day, but it was still a strangely calm shift at the hospital. It was usually busy during dinner or after that some people got injured, while driving back home.Â
âTake this to Wanda, that will make her forget that Carol commentâÂ
Approaching slowly, you put the drink in front of your girlfriend, who takes a sip and then coughs.
âWow, what is this?â she laughs, the alcohol strong enough to knock her off her feet.
âA fire hazardâ Clint comments, able to smell it across the table. Still, Wanda sips on the drink and nods, enjoying the taste.
âGo easy, Miss Maximoffâ you joke, which makes her smile.
âI still remember why Iâm mad at youâ
âThen forget what I said, take these like tequila shotsâ
âCarol is an ex,â Pietro says, putting together the information.Â
âAs in Carol Danvers? Niceâ Clint comments, earning a slap on the arm by Laura.
âThread carefullyâÂ
âAh, jeez. Look what you made me doâ Clint laughs, looking at you.
âPumpkin cocktail for Laura coming right upâ
âIâll bring it, I have to check the turkeyâ Wanda says, slightly slurring her words.Â
âIf you go anywhere near the oven, leave that thing hereâ Clint points out, not wanting to put out fires on his day off.
You take Wandaâs place, sipping casually on the rest of her drink. Everyone stares as you donât even make a face to the amount of alcohol on it.
âWeâve known each other since collegeâ you explain. âSo this is just like drinking waterâ
While you keep chatting in the backyard, Darcy and Wanda are both in the kitchen, your friend making herself a drink while Wanda turns off the oven to get the turkey ready.
âWant another cocktail?â she says, pushing a glass towards Wanda. The woman grabs it, sipping again. The sweet taste of the pumpkin hides a bit of the alcohol, so the punch isnât hitting quite yet.Â
âListen, I know your brother already gave my friend the shovel talkâÂ
âReally? When?â Wanda says, a little too loudly.Â
âBack in the hospital. And I had to hold off on mine because you were always in my territory and I didnât want to seem like a bully. However, now is the time to tell you⊠sheâs my best friend, has been since college. Life hasnât been particularly fair and her mother certainly didnât help, though Iâm sure sheâs made it seem like no big deal, but Y/N really does deserve someone nice and kind. So donât break her heart. Under any circumstanceâ
âIâm not planning to, Daisyâ Wanda nods her head, her thoughts a little fuzzy.
âNobody plans to hurt someone they love. And Iâm Darcyâ
âIâm a little drunkâ Wanda clicks her tongue, leaning on Darcy as they go back to the backyard.Â
âEverything ok, love?â you say when Wanda comes back, and to your surprise, she sits on your lap instead of a chair.
âThese things are strong. A couple more and Iâll consider doing that thing you wanted to try in bedâ
âOh, dear Godâ you blush, while Clint, Laura and Darcy whistle. Pietro covers his ears, gagging. âNo more cocktails for you⊠at least with the kids aroundâ
The Bartons stay a little while longer, eating and drinking until Lila and Cooper approach Clint.
âCan we get a dog?â
âThatâs our cue to goâ he sighs, standing up.
âPlease, we want one!â Lila insists, and you laugh at Clintâs defeated expression.
âWeâll seeâ he compromises. âCome on, we gotta stop by at your grandparentsâ
They leave, thanking you for the food and you promise to take the twins and Sparky to play at the farm very soon.
Pietro finally gets off his ass to bring the turkey, which looks absolutely delicious. He carves it, saving the biggest piece for his sister.
âI love Thanksgivingâ you say, enjoying whatâs probably the best meal youâve ever had.
âMe tooâ Darcy agrees, getting seconds and thirds of everything. Truth be told, you never get to sit around and eat as much as you like so this is a total luxury for a workaholic doctor.
As youâre finishing up, Wanda takes out a pecan pie.Â
âIâm in heavenâ Darcy comments upon the first bite.
On the other hand, you cannot hold back a moan, which makes Wanda bite her lip, one of her hands going to squeeze your thigh.Â
âHey, quick question, will you marry me?â Darcy says to Wanda and you elbow her.
âRight in front of my pecan pie?â
âIâm just saying, if you donât, I willâ
âShe better get a ring thenâ Wanda says, smiling at you. Your mind goes back to the woman at the shop, telling you about those last minute engagements.
Surprisingly, Pietro is the one that changes the subject.
âYou know what I always find funny? How the flavor makes my throat all tingly. And my tongue numbâ
Everyone looks at him in silence, until Darcy speaks.
âThatâs an allergic reactionâ
âWhat? Noâ Pietro dismisses her point.
âIt isâ you insist, which earns another hand gesture from the man. âOh, youâre right, what do we know? We only went to medical schoolâ
âYouâre so dumbâ Wanda says, laughing and holding her sides. âYouâve been allergic our whole lives? Oh, my God!â
âVery funny, sestra. But now you canât make this anymoreâ
âHey, eat a granola bar or somethingâ Darcy snaps, getting a second slice. âWhy should we pay the price for your weakness?â
âLetâs finish the pie so he doesnât get an allergyâ you tease.
Darcy and you keep eating while Pietro is instructed to clean up the table and load the dishwasher. As the celebration ends, Darcy goes back home with tons of leftovers.
âIâll walk you out â you say, accompanying your friend. As youâre chatting, your phone rings again.
âYour mother?â Darcy guesses when you ignore the call. You click your tongue, putting the phone back in your pocket. âLet me guess, sheâs calling for the usual wish you were here bullshit while never calling in advanceâ
âYeah, thatâs our thing. This year Iâm not in the mood to do it, thoughâ
âWell, sheâll hopefully get the hintâ Darcyâs pager goes off and she sighs. âThere it isâ
âWant me to tag along?â
âItâs fine. Iâll call if it gets too crazy. Bye, palâ
You wave as she drives away, walking back with Sparky. For a second, you feel guilty and think about calling your mother back, but this day has been perfect and you donât want to ruin it.
âHey, kiddos, did you have fun?â you ruffle Tommyâs hair when you get home, getting Sparky his dinner.
âYeah, it was awesome!â
âWell, you better check your rooms because I got you a little presentâ
As usual, Tommy is faster, but Billy is right behind him, both of them shouting excitedly.
âWhat is all that noise?â Wanda says, alarmed.
âJust following traditionâ you explain with a smile, waiting for the kids to open their presents.
âWhat tradition?â Wanda says, looking confused.
âThanksgiving presentsâ
Then you hear it. Pietro snorts a laughter from his spot in the kitchen.
Motherfucker.
âIâm gonna kill you, Evil Twinâ you say, going straight to where heâs standing. Pietro runs around the kitchen island, putting distance between you two.
âStop it, you two!â Wanda says, hands on her hips.
âSorry, love. But heâs got it comingâ you throw a towel his way, and take advantage of the distraction to jump over the counter, falling on top of him.
âCool!â Billy says, watching as you have Pietro in a headlock.
âHow are you so strong?â he complains, unable to free himself.
âIâm in the ER, do you really think I donât have to deal with drunk assholes?â
âEnough!â Wanda shouts, pulling you by the belt loop of your pants until youâre off balance. âExplainâ she asks standing between you two.
âHe told me you gave each other presents during Thanksgiving!â
âWe love ours!â Tommy says, showing the stands for their controls. You smile, fixing your shirt.
âWell, youâre the only ones getting one. Your uncle is definitely notâ
âYou got me something?â
âYes, and it was a damn good presentâ you smile, knowing the curiosity will drive him crazy.
âCome on, can I have it?â
âNoâ Wanda and you say at the same time.
You make fun of him, and then Wanda tilts her head.
âDid you get me something?â
âOf course I didâ you pat the back of your jeans, finding the necklace box there. âHereâ
Wandaâs eyes widen as soon as she opens it, her hand covering her mouth.
âWhat? You donât like it? I can return it. Or maybe I canât. But you donât have to wear itâ you rant, afraid that itâs too much for a tradition that isnât even real.
âSweetheart, stopâ she says, smiling. âI-I love it. Thank youâ
âWell, I love youâ you lean forward, letting her kiss you. Billy and Tommy protest at the contact, something that they have unfortunately picked up from their uncle.
âCan I have my present? Please?â Pietro says.
âNo, wait until Christmasâ you say.
âAnd for this little joke youâre gonna clean the kitchenâ Wanda says, pointing at all the dirty pots and pans.
âMy joke got you a pearl necklaceâ
âChop, chop, Pietroâ she ignores him, pushing the kids upstairs so they can get ready for bed. âYou two stink, go and take a showerâ
âWhere do you want me, Bossypants?â you joke, standing next to her.
âMhmâ she smiles, leaning forward to whisper in your ear. âYou like it when Iâm bossy?â
âYes, Maâamâ
âThen go shower too. And stay in bed. You were running around all dayâ
âWanna join me in the shower?â
âIâll help Pietro clean. Or weâll never hear the end of itâ she says, smiling when you pull her close, kissing her cheek.
âDonât be longâ
By the time Wanda comes up, youâre asleep, wearing nothing but shorts and a t-shirt.
The gentleness of her lips against your neck wakes you up with a shudder, and you bring your hand to rub up and down her back.
âAre you done with cleaning?â you say, trying not to yawn. Wandaâs teeth, marking the spot between your shoulder and neck jolt you awake. âBaby?â
âYou always give me so much. I want to thank youâ she says, moving down your lap. You lean on your elbows, unsure if youâre understanding what sheâs saying.
âWanda?â youâre about to ask something else, but the words get stuck in your throat when you feel her rubbing her nose against your clit through your shorts. âI⊠uhâŠâ
âWhatâs wrong?â
âNothing is wrongâ you say, having trouble breathing when she pulls down your shorts, revealing youâre not wearing any underwear.
âPerfectâ Wanda smiles, leaning down. You can tell sheâs hovering, teasing you with anticipation. Even when she kisses the inside of your thighs, it feels heavenly.
You make the mistake of looking down, and Wandaâs eyes meet yours. She has a predatory smirk on her face, one youâve never seen before. She knows how much you want this, she can see it, smell it. Youâre about to plead for her to continue when she goes down, tongue licking a strip down your center.
âFuckâ you say, your legs instantly going to close around her head. Youâre so sensitive and sheâs sucking on your clit with such abandonment. Wanda lets you ride her face, enjoying the feeling of your juices coating every inch of her chin.
When youâre close to coming, she manages to pull free of your hold, pushing her hair back. Her chest is heaving, face glistening with your arousal.
âWha-â she doesnât let you finish, pulling down her own shorts, and crawling on top of you.
âI want you to come with meâ she sighs against your mouth, allowing you to taste yourself. Her pussy comes in contact with yours, eyes rolling to the back of your head as you feel her wetness.
âBe quiet for meâ she hisses, though thereâs certain tenderness in her voice. Her palm covers your mouth, and Wanda only moves when you nod, pushing her hips against yours.
âWandaâ you plead, not knowing exactly what youâre after. Even though sheâs also getting pleasure out of this, sheâs still very much in control, keeping you steady as she rocks her hips, setting the pace.
As your breathing quickens, Wanda picks up the pace, and your arm snakes around her waist, pulling her closer until she drops her body on top of yours, moving and panting next to your ear.
âIâm closeâ you breathe, and the way she bites down your neck is what pushes you over the edge, letting out a groan and a string of curse words that would put your best friend to shame.
Wandaâs release follows, and you let her dig her nails in your shoulders as she comes. She relaxes against your chest, her heart slowing down as you run your hand up and down her back.
You donât need to look to know thereâs a mess of sheets and clothes around you. Wanda is too far gone to care, the intensity of her orgasm and the exhaustion of the day making her doze off.
âCan we make this into a tradition?â you whisper against her temple. She laughs, cuddling against your side.
âTotallyâ
â
Wanda: Hey
Y/N: Hey, gorgeous
Wanda: Miss you
Y/N: Miss you more.
Y/N: Thinking about that mindblowing orgasm too.
âSomeone got laid for Thanksgivingâ Carol reads over your shoulder and you huff.
âMind your business, Danversâ
âDarcy said it was the best meal of her life. What do we have to do to get invited next year?â she says as you walk down the hospital halls.
âGo back in time and not sleep with meâ
âDamn. Wandaâs still jealous? Would it change if Iâm a married gal?â
âYou set a date?â you stop Carol, excited to hear more.
âYour invitation should be in the mail soonâ
âCongrats!â you smile, pulling her for a hug.
âThereâs one more thing⊠I was wondering if youâd be my maid of honorâŠâ
The request catches you completely off guard. Carol had been your friend since you arrived at the hospital, but considering everything that happened, youâd figure Maria wouldnât be comfortable with that.
âI mean⊠I would love to, but Mariaâ
âSheâs fine with it. Understands it was just a distractionâ
âAww, that makes me feel so specialâ you put your hands over your chest, sighing dramatically.
âYou know what I meanâ Carol says, making you walk to the ER. âSo, you in? Youâll have to do dress fittings. Organize a bachelorette party. Make sure Iâm there on timeâ
âFine, yes. Oh, did I mention we got a dog?â
On the way to the ER, you show Carol a bunch of pictures of Sparky, and sheâs still obsessing over his funky hair when you find Kate, finishing some charts.
âHow was your night, Bishop?â
âA bit crazy. Some accidents on the road, and cuts with kitchen knives⊠but itâs been pretty quiet nowâ
Carol gasps and you want to scream.
âDonât say the q word, Bishopâ you plead.
âWhy?â
Two ambulances park right outside and you nod towards them.
âThatâs whyâ
True to the lore, the word quiet attracts a wave of emergencies and freak accidents that take up most of your shift.
Thatâs not what has you on the edge of a nervouse breakdown, though.
During your first break of the night, you answer a text from Wanda, telling her youâll be sure to be there for Pietroâs dinner tomorrow, as heâs finally leaving on Monday morning.
No one ever leaves a voicemail so you check out the notification, and you wish you hadnât.
âFor someone who works in the ER, you sure as hell arenât around for family emergenciesâ your mother says. âWell, itâs not really an emergency, but you get my point. Weâre gonna be in town, Janeâs probably applying to Westview university next year. Call me when you can, it would help if you give us a tour around the city. And pick up the damn phone, itâs Thanksgivingâ
Kate finds you in that moment, making you jump out of your seat.
âYou wanted me toâŠâ
âFollow up with the patient in 403, yes. Iâm going out for a while. Call me if itâs urgentâ
The first thing you want to do is throw your phone away, but you settle for walking to a nearby store, looking for a pack of cigarrettes and a lighter. If you didnât have a shift to go back to, youâd certainly get a bottle of cheap booze.
As you sit on the sidewalk, your hands tremble when you light up a cigarrette. Itâs been ten minutes and youâre through the third one when Darcy stops by.
âWhatâs the matter with you?â
Since you canât find the strenght to explain it, you hand over your phone. Your friend physically recoils at the sound of your motherâs voice, thatâs how much she dislikes her.
âIâm sorryâ Darcy says, sitting next to you. âShe might not even make time to see you, sheâs probably just pretending, like with every holidayâ
âItâs not just that, Darcy. What if Jane goes to Westview University? Iâm going to⊠Iâm going to be worrying about whether or not sheâll be around. If her daughter needs anything, sheâll call me, if something goes wrong and I donât find a way to fix it immediately, Iâll be the screw up of a daughter who never cares about her family. Iâm gonna have to move, thereâs just no way I canâŠâ
âSlow downâ Darcy sits next to you, her hand on your shoulder. Her touch helps you stay calm, and you breathe slowly. âThatâs a massive if. You donât know if itâs happening. And weâre both very much aware that you could do everything your mother asks and it still wouldnât be enough. Donât let her control youâ
âI donât know howâ you admit, your voice breaking down.
âThatâs okâ Darcy pulls you in, hugging you. âWeâll figure it out. Or just take her to the nastiest places in town, sheâll never let Jane come here againâ
You let out a laugh at that, wiping your tears.
âI love you, friendâ you say, feeling exhausted.
âUgh, you always get so emotional when that witch is lurking around. Careful or youâll end up proposing to Wandaâ
âI donât want my mother anywhere near Wanda. If she says anything hurtful to her, I swear to God sheâll really regret the minute she pushed me out of her fucking insidesâ
âDamn, bitch, now thatâs the fire I want to see in youâ Darcy claps, pulling you up. âCome back inside. Heard itâs been non stop since your minion summoned the entire cityâ
âYeah, she said the q wordâ
âQueefâ Darcy sighs and you cackle.
âSassy queefâ
â
The last thing you want to do when your shift is over is have dinner and be social, but you promised Wanda.
So you walk through the door with a smile on your face and some flowers for your girlfriend. Wanda greets you with a kiss, but quickly pulls apart.
âDid you smoke?â
âUhâŠâ
Seems like the entire pack of gum after smoking for the last 48 hours didnât do the trick.
âYes, sorry. Iâll go use some mouthwash and change clothesâ
âHold onâ Wanda pulls your hand, looking at you. âWhatâs wrong? You only smoke if youâre stressedâ
âSestra!â her brother calls, and youâre actually grateful for the interruption.
âIâll tell you later. Pietro needs your helpâ
Thankfully the conversation centers on the other Maximoff and his plans for the upcoming weeks, now that the conditions seem more favorable for snowboarding.
You ask a question here and there, but mostly keep to yourself, eating the chicken paprikash and drinking wine. Yeah, you definitely drink a couple of glasses to keep your cool.
If Wanda notices, she keeps it to herself once again.
âWell, sounds like youâll be needing a pair of brand new glovesâ you say to Pietro at one point, taking out a box from behind the tv. âHidden in plain sightâ
âSheâs a keeper!â he exclaims when he notices the fine material. âIâm definitely coming back for Christmas nowâ
âHey, you better get me something nice tooâ
Youâre halfway the second bottle of wine when everyoneâs done with dinner, and the kids are debating between going for ice cream or watching a movie. Itâs safer to stay in the kitchen, cleaning everything and hoping you can excuse yourself early.
Truth is, you really want to drink until you pass out but that would raise too many questions with Wanda.
âThey settled on Jumanjiâ Wanda announces when youâre drying your hands.
âMmkay. Iâll take Sparky out for his walk thenâ you volunteer, rushing to get his leash before she can ask anything else.
The cold air makes you sober up a little, remembering what Darcy told you.
Donât let her control you, donât let her ruin your life.
Youâve told Wanda your relationship with your mother is not the best, but how could you possibly explain thatâs a wild understatement?
âIsnât that the cutest dog?â Agatha greets Sparky, who wags his tail. âWhatâs their name?â
âSparkyâ
âOh, wowâ Agatha waves her hand in front of her nose. âBooze and cigarrettes, did you have fun at the casino?â
âUhâŠâ
âCome on, Iâll get you a special tea. It always helpsâ
She rushes you to her porch, making you sit while Sparky is on your lap, comfortably napping.
âOne cup of âspecialtyâ. Hah! Get it? Special tea, specialtyâ
âVery clever⊠oh, wow! Does this have peppermint?â
âYes, clever girlâ
âMy grandmother grew peppermint on her front yard. I always loved the smell of it⊠even the taste when she made teaâ you smile, sipping slowly.
âEverything ok, kiddo?â she asks after a beat of silence.
âNo, not reallyâ
âWell, Iâm here if you want toâŠâ your neighbor says, petting Sparky.
âI mean, thank you, but I feel like I donât have a lot of people to tell this to, without being judged. Because you know what it is? I fucking hate my mother, Agathaâ
To your surprise, the woman letâs out a loud laugh.
âOh, honey, please. Tell me about it. My mother was a witchâ
âIs that figuratively orâŠâ
âI mean, who knows. She was evil, thatâs for sureâ Agatha rolls her eyes, and then looks at you. âYeah, I get it. Most people say that you have to love your family, just because you share blood. Blood is thicker than water, they say. Meanwhile, they donât know the full phrase is the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the wombâ
âIs that so?â
âTrust me, I knowâ Agatha nods. âMy mother would tell me I was evil, I was bad. Just rotten to the core, in her own words.â
âIâm so sorryâ
âDarling, you donât owe anyone an explanation. You have your own family with the Brady bunch over there.â
âI guess a part of me still believes sheâll apologizeâ
âDonât hold your breath. And if she doesnât, it still doesnât mean you did something to deserve her shitâ
âThank you, Agathaâ
The woman pats your leg, smiling.
âMy love, are you coming back to bed?â a voice says from the inside of her house and you almost snap your neck looking back.
âComing, Rioâ
âI had no idea I was interrupting, Iâll leave right nowâ you stutter, carrying Sparky down the steps of the womanâs porch.
âDonât sweat it, hot stuff. She needed a break after everything we just didâ Agatha winks.
âGood talk, bye Agatha, bye Rioâ you wave your hand, running back home all flustered.
The kids are with their uncle watching tv when you go inside. You let Sparky go so he can sit on the couch with them, and go upstairs to get changed and sleep.
Once youâre settling in bed, Wanda pushes the door open, eyeing you curiously.
âSweetheartâ is all she says. Itâs both a question and an affirmation.
âItâs been a long dayâ you admit, too tired to pretend youâre ok, but also not in the mood to explain everything.
Maybe your mother wonât even come, and youâll have shown Wanda how broken and fucked up you are for no reason. She doesnât need to know it. Not now, at least.
âLet me helpâ she offers, climbing on your lap, kissing every inch of your face. You hold on to her waist, digging your fingers in her flesh. âI love youâ
âI know. I love you tooâ you smile, finally connecting her lips with yours. Sheâs meant to comfort you with her touch, not wanting to start something else, because everyoneâs downstairs. But when you swipe your tongue across her bottom lip, Wanda lets out a groan, nails scrapping your scalp as you deepen the kiss.
âPleaseâ you say, switching positions so sheâs on her back, you on top. You donât really know what youâre asking for, but she can sense your desperation, holding on to your shoulders.
âItâs ok. Iâm here. Use me, love. Take meâ
Those words spurr you on, making you go down to kiss her neck, unbuttoning her shirt and leaving a trail of marks all the way to her hips. You desperately pull at her pants, immediately going down on her, your touch impatient as Wanda covers her mouth to keep quiet.
âPleaseâ she manages to ask, and you give her more, stretching her with two of your fingers. âMoreâ
Youâre happy to comply, adding another digit and working them in and out of her clenching cunt, while you go back to meet her lips in a messy kiss.
âI fucking love youâ you say against her mouth, and that sends Wanda over the edge, arousal gushing out of her with each of your final thrusts.
âI was⊠supposed to make you feel betterâ she says, trying to catch her breath.
âOh, trust me. You didâ
Wanda laughs, looking at you lovingly while you kiss her temple.
âI love you tooâ she says when your lips meet hers for a quick kiss.
âI know. Iâm very lovableâ
Her laugh makes you forget all the bad shit youâve been carrying with you for the last day and a half.
â
âTake care, bratâ Wanda says, her arms going around her brother. âSee you soonâ
âYesâ he then says something in Sokovian, making Wanda laugh.
âDo you guys know what theyâre saying?â you approach Billy and Tommy.
âNo, mama hasnât taught us any Sokovianâ
âWe think itâs so they can say bad words without getting caughtâ
âHuhâ
âWhat is all that mumbling Iâm hearing?â Wanda says, making you stand straight.
âNothingâ the three of you say at the same time, making her laugh.
âRelax, sestra. You two, be good while Iâm gone. And if youâre not goodâŠâ
âBe carefulâ they finish the sentence, laughing.
âAnd youâŠâ Pietro points at you. Wanda is about to intervene, thinking heâs about to give you another shovel talk. but you wink at her, smiling. âWelcome to the familyâ
âThank you, Evil Twin. See you at Christmasâ
âYouâre dressing up as Santa this yearâ he says in a low voice and you laugh.
The man gets in his car, waving goodbye one last time.
âAlright, you two, weâre gonna be late for schoolâ Wanda says, and the routine slips you back to reality.
âHeyâ you say, pulling her close to you. Before she can answer, you kiss her, hands on her cheeks. She squeezes your wrists, smiling. âDo I really have to be Santa?â
âWeâll seeâ she laughs, kissing you once again. âCome on. We got a busy day ahead of ourselvesâ
You smile, letting her take you back home.
Whatever happens next, you just need Wanda to get through it.

Alain Prost's praise for the champion who has become his equal
If he wasn't initially keen to talk, it wasn't because he didn't want to share his place on the list of four-time F1 world champions (with Sebastian Vettel), but because he didn't have the time. Alain Prost really likes Max Verstappen and has never been reluctant to speak highly of the Dutch driver for L'Ăquipe. The French world champion finally agreed to give us his analysis of his 27-year-old counterpart last Sunday. Thirty minutes of Zoom interview that demonstrate the esteem, even admiration, of the 69-year-old former driver for Verstappen.
Having Verstappen as a neighbor on the prize list. Does that mean anything to you?
Yes, sincerely. I am pleased to be in such good company. Because there are only three of us with four titles, but I remember when Michael joined me and when Lewis came through. I will not forget that Fangio was the first driver to win four crowns (the Argentinian champion was crowned a fifth time). All the same, we're among a handful of names who, without sounding presumptuous (he reflects), are out of the ordinary. We're part of history. To be a four-time world champion is a kind of pride. And Max, looking back on his career, can be proud of it. He hasn't stolen any of his crowns. You can have a bit of luck, like me in 1986, but you have to know how to provoke it and then seize it. Max is not missing anything. I remember that in 2016 during his first victory I was commentating for Canal and I promised him a bright future. He didn't disappoint me. What he's already achieved is really impressive. Verstappen is clearly unique. He is not just anyone, whether it's his personality, his character or his commitment. You can love him or hate him, but he certainly doesn't leave you indifferent. Like many great champions, he's atypical.
This crown, do you think it was the hardest for him to win?
Only he can say. I don't know what his car was really worth. (He reflects.) And then we mustn't forget that highly controversial title in 2021. It's still very difficult to have an objective analysis. Frankly, both of them (Hamilton and Verstappen) deserved the title for the whole season. It was Max who won it in the conditions we all know. It was his first crown, and once again he went out and won it. It's always difficult to win your first crown. In fact, I remember very well what I said that evening in Abu Dhabi: from now on we'll see the real Verstappen. And we've seen him since then (he smiles). He's freed himself. He's erased his little mistakes and his impatience. He's become very, very strong. Coming back to this year, he's had to fight hard and I think he's shown some very fine things. A lot of confidence, a lot of serenity. Even when he complains, but he has always done it, he did it with less annoyance. That's the mark of a more accomplished champion.
You describe an extraordinary champion. Does he have any weaknesses?
At the moment, it's hard to find any. I don't know what he'll do in the future, but even in terms of communication, with all the rumours with Mercedes and the worries with Red Bull, I've found him to be very solid⊠He's good on all terrains. He's a very tough driver on the track, but you can't see that as a weakness.
So he'll be unbeatable next year?
Well, next year is another debate. It will be a rather special year, the last with the current ground-effect car. We've already seen a tightening of performance between different teams. Max's strength is that, in certain races, he can make the difference all by himself. And that's a big advantage for a team, and of course for the Championship. So I'd still put him as favourite next year, but now the other teams know that Red Bull is beatable.
When Vettel won his fourth crown, you were delighted because you felt he was very close to you in terms of personality. Do you think Verstappen is more on the side of Ayrton Senna?
Max has a lot in common with Ayrton, especially at the start of their careers. Today, a little less so. He has his own way of being. He's always followed his own idea, in his own way. That's why, when you get to know him a little, I think he's close to Seb or me. These are things I like about him. On the track, I find him very respectful.
Very respectful?
Yes, in his own way. He's not a cheater. You're going to talk to me about track limits. But it's the way he drives; it's an education. For him, it's the norm. The best proof is that when he's penalized, he accepts it. As always, he goes as far as he can.
Hamilton fought against Alonso or Nico Rosberg, you against Senna. Do you think he lacks high-level opponents to climb even higher in the collective imagination?
Nowadays, it's the rule not to have two drivers of the same level in a team. But Max has had to deal with Ricciardo, Gasly and Perez. After all, they're not just heats! We're talking about Grand Prix winners. You're talking about his popularity. The good thing about Max is that he's free. He doesn't cheat: he's just the way he is, following his thing. Tomorrow, he could tell you that in a month's time he's quitting, and nobody would be surprised! That's him and that's his thing. He certainly cares much less about the image he may have than many other drivers. But I think he'll be remembered as an incredibly talented driver. Very tough, of course, but his four titles are totally deserved and he's right up there at the top.

Franco x driver reader- She is a rookie who started before him and the others on the grid are protective of her since she has no one with her (her family never goes to see her or supports her). They start talking and the other drivers act like older brothers.
A/nâ Hi đ @alex-wotton I went with the last one because it really stood out to me because I realized last night that if I was a f1 driver traveling to races would be pretty lonely as my mom has lupus and is in pain all the time and my siblings are still in school while my dad works out on the road. I will also be doing the others to.
Oh one more thing this is just a little look into the big fic around this request Iâll be doing later⊠depending on how well this does.
"They mean well" â Franco Colapinto x fem! rookie diver! Reader
Fluff slightly angsty
Word countâ1122
Summary â Franco befriend's the female Alpine rookie the only problem is that he now has to deal with her guard dogs.
The first few weeks on the grid were a whirlwind, especially since you were a rookie in a sport where every second counts, and every move you make is scrutinized. It was hard, almost overwhelming, and though you knew the other drivers were competitive, you quickly realized that there was a quieter, more supportive side to them. You couldnât deny how much it helped to have the older drivers looking out for you.
Lando had taken to teasing you right away. His cheeky humor and constant lighthearted comments were always enough to make you laugh, even on the toughest days. âYouâre doing better than most of the vets, you know,â heâd say after a particularly good lap, his eyes twinkling with mischief. âNext time, youâll have to give me some pointers!â
Max, who often seemed aloof to others, was surprisingly attentive. He noticed when you were on your own, after long days when you would simply wander the paddock, minding your own business. Without a word, he would sidle up next to you, hands shoved deep into his pockets, and talk about the most mundane thingsâanything to take your mind off the pressure. âHave you ever tried the coffee from the new stand near the paddock? Best one in town,â heâd comment, knowing full well it was an excuse to pull you into a conversation that wasnât about racing for once.
Charles, ever the older brother type, was the one who would make sure you didnât slip into your head too much. He could tell when the weight of everything was starting to build up on your shoulders. âHey,â heâd say, voice gentle but firm. âYouâre doing fine. Donât let the stress get to you. You have a team behind you.â
And then there was Franco. He was quieter than the others, but his presence was undeniable. Heâd only just joined the grid, and the others were quick to embrace him, but it was clear that his personality was differentâcalmer, more reserved. You found that, over time, you felt a quiet connection with him. It wasnât an in-your-face, loud support, but a steady, reassuring presence.
One evening, after another intense qualifying session, you found yourself walking alone by the garages, replaying every corner of the track in your head. You were exhausted, physically and mentally, but you didnât want to be a burden to the others, so you walked it off in silence. Franco noticed you from across the paddock and, with a knowing look, excused himself from a conversation he was having with Lando.
When he reached you, there was no fanfare, just a casual ease that made you relax almost immediately.
âHey, everything okay?â Franco asked, his voice soft yet direct.
You smiled, a little weary, but grateful. âJust thinking about the session. Couldâve done better.â
He shook his head, his lips curling into a small smile. âYou did fine. We all have those moments, donât overthink it.â
You let out a breath you didnât realize youâd been holding. âItâs just⊠hard sometimes. Being the rookie and feeling like youâre always falling short.â
Franco tilted his head slightly, studying you for a moment before replying. âI get it. Iâm still the new guy here too, remember? But honestly, the others are looking out for you. Theyâve got your back.â
The way he said it was simple, but there was a sincerity behind it that made something inside you relax. Franco wasnât offering empty wordsâhe meant it.
And it wasnât just him. The next time you walked into the paddock and bumped into Max, he clapped you on the shoulder with a grin. âYou looked a bit off yesterday. If you need a break, you know where to find me.â
Lando, catching wind of the exchange, chimed in from a few feet away. âYeah, donât make us have to drag you into our fun. Weâre here for more than just the racing.â
The protectiveness came in waves. Sometimes it was subtleâCharles, pulling you aside to offer advice on staying focused during the race, or Lando, joking around to make you laugh when the stress of the weekend was beginning to get to you. But sometimes, it was a little more overt.
The first time you really felt the weight of their protectiveness was after a particularly tough race, where you finished outside the points. The media was relentless, questions flying about whether you were cut out for the sport, and you could feel the eyes of the paddock on you.
As you were heading back to your garage, head down, trying to shut out the noise, you suddenly felt a hand on your shoulder. It was Max.
âYou donât let them get to you,â he said quietly, looking you in the eyes. âItâs one race. And youâll get them next time.â
Before you could respond, Lando appeared, his usual grin plastered across his face. âMax is right, of course. And if they keep giving you trouble, just let me know. Iâm pretty good at handling the media.â
Charles joined them, his voice more serious than usual. âWeâve all been there. Donât let them make you doubt yourself. Weâre all in this together.â
That was when it hit youâthis wasnât just about the competition on the track. They truly cared about you, and despite the pressures of racing, they werenât about to let you face it alone.
Franco appeared just as they were finishing up, walking over to the group with a quiet smile. âEveryoneâs right,â he added, offering a knowing look. âAnd if you ever need someone to talk to, Iâm always around. No need to fight your battles alone.â
From that moment on, you felt the weight of their protectiveness more than ever. It wasnât just about them looking out for a rookie; it was about them making sure you knew that no matter what happened, you werenât alone on the grid.
The bond between you and Franco deepened as the weeks went on. In between races, the two of you shared quiet conversations in the back of the garage, or while waiting for your cars to be prepped. You spoke about everythingâracing, family, the weird quirks of the Formula 1 lifestyle, and even the things youâd been avoiding thinking about. Francoâs steady support and dry humor became something you could rely on, and the way he listened without judgment made him one of the few you truly felt comfortable with.
In a world that often felt like a competition to survive, you finally understood: you had people here, and they werenât just teammates or rivalsâthey were your family.
And Franco, despite being new to the grid himself, was starting to feel more like a brother than just a teammate.

you watch him sleep peacefully while your mind is filled with negative thoughts; did he love you? why was he pushing you away? had you done something? it hadnât been the best season only the first half was great then the car started having problems and then battling for the championship with lando it wasnât easy. so you understand the stress he had and tried your best to be there for him but heâd push you away everytime.
he had a rough race? youâd be there ready to give him your supportive words and touch he used to love but itâs now turned into quick side hugs and kisses on the cheek. from flying to most of the races with him turned into staying at home taking care of jimmy and sassy and watching the race on the tv screen.
you put your slippers on and walked off onto your balcony as the sun was rising. you didnât realize how much time passed as max walks out in his workout clothes saying he would be going to the gym with his trainer, âokay,â you mutter, your eyes still set on the view avoiding his eyes as best as you can. going to the gym when you have a home gym right here? but the words never come out and he leaves.
âshe didnât even look at me just said okay and thatâs all. sheâs always up early make breakfast and my smoothie always ready but i woke up to an empty bed. thought she wanted to spend the break together as much as we can.â max tells his trainer as they finished up their workout. max left the apartment confused from the cold shoulder youâd given him, âi mean, you havenât let her join you the last few races youâve had. it could be that? or the fact sheâs always checking up on your through the team because you never tell her anything other than fine everytime she asks how you are doing and the car.â his trainer knocks him out of this trance heâs had for months now as he realizes what he had been doing.
thatâs why he stands in the kitchen with your favorite flowers on the counter and take out food ready to talk and apologize but you donât come after he calls for your name. he walks to your bedroom and you are nowhere to be seen until he reaches the balcony and he realizes youâve been sitting in your same spot you were on when he had left. âschatje? why are you still out here? itâs freezingâ.â
âdonât you care about me at all?â you finally look at him, your eyes red and swollen after crying for hours and in that moment his heart breaks because he was breaking yours. âseriously max, what am i to you? it feels like weâre just roommates who sleep in the same bed and thatâs all. i tried. i tried to be the supportive girlfriend but youâŠyou push me away. you talk to everyone but me. i care about you, so why donât you care about me?â
max sits besides you and wipes your tears away before he kisses your head but you just push him away, âi deserve that. i deserve whatever anger you feel towards me right now. i do care about you. i may not have shown it recently and i am sorry for that, baby. iâve been so frustrated with the car and with myself that i couldnât bare for you to see me like this. youâve been there since my first championship and now that it could be in jeopardyâŠi donât you to see me fail,â he whispers, his feelings valid but it leaves you confused why he couldnât tell you all this.
âso why push me away like that, max? i supported you at your best and at your worst. with or without a championship iâm gonna be by your side always. but you need to let me in all the way. you have you talk to me when you feel this way and i should have done the sameâ.â
âno. that wasnât your fault. i was a very shitty boyfriend so i understand why you felt you couldnât talk to me. iâm so so sorry, my love. i promise from now on iâll communicate more,â he promises and you raise your eyebrows expecting more, âand let me go to races again? cant believe you used jimmy and sassy as a pawn for me not going to any.â your pout that makes him chuckle has the mood feeling lighter now.
âi was fucking miserable without you. never again.â he mumbles against your neck as you wrap your arms around him. âiâve got your favorite food and flowers waiting in the kitchen for you, i love youâ
âi love you. youâre the bestestâŠnext time though if you ever say i canât go to a race iâll show up with the mercedes team.â you threaten with a smile on your face.
âokay now that is mean.â

the grinch II Laura Freigang x Reader
masterlist | word count: 1661
summary: Laura's in a festive mood already, reader isnât, but maybe a visit at the Christmas market in Frankfurt can change that.
author's note: dear readers, we hope you'll like the black cat x golden retriever dynamic in this oneshot.đ
Your Friday nights were sacred to you.
While other people went out, you waited all week to stay inside and cozy up on your couch. After long hours at work, it was the perfect way to relax.
You let yourself fall onto the sofa, pulling your feet in under yourself and grabbing the remote.
It was just you, the movie you were about to pick out and⊠your girlfriend hanging up Christmas lights right above the TV.
You silently glared at her back but she continued adjusting the decorations while singing to herself: âAll I want for Christmas is youuuuu, baby!â
She turned towards you, pretending to hold microphone in one hand and pointing at you with the other.
You blinked at her, forcing yourself to not grab the nearest pillow and throw it at her: âWhat is wrong with you? Itâs way too early for that!â
It was still November and you were pretty grateful for that. You werenât the biggest fan of Christmas. In contrast to your girlfriend who shook her head with a patient smile: âNope. The first Christmas markets are open in Frankfurt and you and me will go there tonight with my team.â
The urge to smack a pillow in her face grew with every word but you stayed strong.
âNo.â, you said simply but determined.
Laura sat next to you on the sofa, blinking at you with innocent eyes: âCome on, Liebling. You work so hard, you deserve to enjoy yourself from time to time too.â
âI wanted to enjoy myself by staying in and watching Netflix.â, you groaned.
âPlease join us.â She gave you her best puppy eyes and pulled her lips into a little pout.
It was cute but you really didnât want to go.
You sighed: âWhy? I donât even like Christmas.â
âLiebling, the girls would love to see you again. And I love to brag about my amazing, talented girl.â, Laura grinned, coming closer and closer until her nose touched your neck. She carefully placed a kiss to your jaw.
You rolled your eyes and pushed her off: âYou canât sweet-talk me into going.â
Finally, she gave in and pushed herself off the sofa: âOkay, fine. Iâll get ready then.â
âWait⊠youâre going alone?â, you asked.
âI wonât force you to come with me.â, Laura shrugged before heading to the bedroom.
You knew exactly what that meant. You could either let her go alone or you had to join her. So essentially she did force you.
âGod, I hate you.â, you groaned as you finally turned off the TV and got up.
âNo, you love me.â, Laura replied through the closed door.
âYouâre lucky I do.â, you grumbled while you slipped into your warmest clothes.
When Laura returned in her puffer jacket and saw you pull on your boots, she asked excitedly: âDoes that mean youâll join us?â
âDo I have a choice?â, you sighed.
âI mean you do butâŠâ, the rest of her reply was muted by the thick scarf she wrapped around herself in that moment.
You shrugged into your winter coat and reluctantly ushered her out of your shared apartment: âDonât. Just go already, I donât have all night.â
The scent of roasted almonds, cinnamon and gingerbread was the first thing you both noticed once you entered the Christmas market. The old townhouses including the town hall were looking like pieces of a winter childrenâs book and yet the Frankfurt skyline was shining in the background.
The mix of old and new was always there and something your girlfriend found so exciting she tried to capture it with her camera. For a second you tried to see the scenery through her blue eyes which sparkled like the fairy lights surrounding her.
With a big smile on her face, she waved at her teammates. âHi girls!â
âHey, you two.â, Sara grinned.
âYou already got mulled wine without us?!â, Laura exclaimed.
âDonât worry, we got some for you two.â, Barbara reassured the striker.
âThanks, Baba.â, you replied, thankful for the hot drink warming your cold hands.
âYouâre welcome.â, the Austrian replied.
âThe Misses Grinch here didnât want to leave the house at first, can you believe that?â, your girlfriend asked teasingly.
âAnd miss out on the Christmas market?â, Sophia shook her head in disbelief.
Grumpily you thought to yourself, wait until you all have 9 to 5 jobs.
âYes, she said itâs too early to be in the mood for Christmas.â, Laura went on smirking.
âItâs.â, you protested.
âNo, itâs never too early for that.â, Sara disagreed lifting her dog Peanut who was wearing a sweater with Christmas trees printed on it.
âOf course itâs.â, you grumbled. It was November, no one in the office you worked was in the festive mood because there was still too much work at the end of the year to do.
âLau, you were right, your girlfriend is the grinch.â, Nicole observed amusedly.
âI told you.â, Laura answered.
âMore GlĂŒhwein?â, Barbara offered.
âPlease.â, you muttered, glad for the alcohol as well as for the warm company which you wouldnât admit it to your girlfriend. The Austrian and you were the one getting the drinks for everyone, so you had missed a bit of the conversation. You couldnât believe your ears what you heard next.
âOh, my girl invests into womenâs sport now by the way.â, Laura told her teammates in a proud tone.
âThatâs great!â, Sara commented enthusiastically.
All the eyes of the football players were now on you, their attention made you blush even harder.
âYeah, I mean itâs something different to my usual investments.â, you responded nervously.
âYouâre making the right decision. Womenâs sport is booming everywhere.â, Barbara promised.
âI still need her help for my side projects though.â, Laura winked at you before leaning into you. Even though they took a lot of her and your time, first the photo book and then her own clothing line. She was the creative head, and you were the one turning her ideas into actual products which could be sold and profitable.
âYes, Iâll be there for that. But can we maybe stop talking about work?â, you requested.
âOf course. Iâm just so proud of you.â, your girlfriend beamed at you, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
âOh.â
âCuties.â, Elisa hummed.
Was this the true spirit of Christmas or did the mulled wine finally kicked in?
Suddenly acutely aware of your girlfriendsâ teammates watching, you cleared your throat and announced: âIâll come to your game on Sunday by the way.â
âYou will?â, Laura grinned excitedly.
âYes, babe.â, you confirmed with a single nod.
âThatâs amazing!â
Her lips were suddenly on yours, kissing longingly. You could taste sting of alcohol from the mulled wine on her breath.
You pulled away with heated cheeks: âI promised you that I would come to your next game.â
âWhat about another hat-trick, Laura? To celebrate her making an appearance.â, Sara joked, elbowing her teammate in the side.
âWeâll see. I will try my best.â, Laura winked.
You laughed lightly: âNo pressure.â
âIâll score at least one for you.â, she promised happily.
You stifled a laugh. Apparently the mulled wine had already gotten to her. âThatâs very sweet of you.â
âWhile weâre at sweet⊠Do you want some chocolate covered strawberries?â, Laura smoothly changed the topic.
Only the thought of them, almost made you drool. You might not like Christmas markets but you had a weakness for the variety of chocolate fruits they sell there.
âI do. You know I love them.â
Laura smiled mischievously: âI do know what.â
âWe should get some and then we need to go home before you are fully drunk.â, you joked, pointing at the mug she was holding.
Laura looked at you with raised eyebrows: âIâm not drunk, youâre drunk.â
âUhu sure, love.â, you rolled your eyes, even though you couldnât deny that you felt the alcohol.
âJust admit that you both had too much and go!â, Sara interrupted jokingly.
âIncredibly rude, Sara!â, Laura protested but her teammate just retorted with a casual shrug.
âItâs the truth.â
âLetâs just get the strawberries and leave, Lau. Bye, girls.â You took Lauras hand and dragged her along as you waved goodbye to the rest of her team.
âBye, see you on Sunday!â, Barbara called after you.
With your chocolate strawberries and some almonds for Laura, you went back home. With a sigh of relief, you kicked off your shoes and hung up your jacket.
âAnd? Wasnât that bad after all, right Liebling?â
âIt was⊠okay.â, you shrugged.
âOnly okay?!â, Laura echoed, pretending to be offended.
You let yourself fall onto your spot on the sofa that you only reluctantly left earlier that evening.
âWell, it wasnât as bad without you here.â, you admitted slowly.
A satisfied smile appeared on your girlfriends face: âI take that as a compliment.â
âYou can.â
Sitting down next to you, she quickly kissed your cheek: âThanks for coming with me. I had a lot of fun.â
âI could tell. You loved the Christmas market.â, you grinned back at her.
âYes but donât worry, Iâll always love you more.â, she winked.
You silently shook your head about her until Laura suddenly bursted into another Christmas song: âI donât want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I needâŠâ
Groaning, you let your head fall back: âLau, I love you and I enjoyed the Christmas market tonight but itâs still way too early!â
Laura blinked at you innocently: âSays who?â
âMe!â
âThen stop me from singing.â, she teased.
âCome here.â Without hesitation, you pulled her in for a passionate kiss that was enough to take Lauras breath away.
Maybe you didnât like Christmas as much as Laura, but you loved the way her eyes lit up at the sight of the Christmas lights and how her nose and cheeks turned pink from the cold. Maybe she was worth visiting overcrowded Christmas markets and listening to stupid Christmas songs in November.

Soft Launch Competition - Suna x Reader
for @moochiwoochi for the Milestone Event Week 2
You donât want to be the one asking for it.Â
But with how much time Rintarou spends on social media, you shouldnât even have to, right?
âWhat are you doing, Rin?â You ask, cuddling into his side.
âScrolling,â he huffs out, swiping upwards one last time before putting his phone away to focus on you. âJust wasting time. What are you up to?â
âCuddling?â You offer and he pulls you further in, rests his chin on top of your head.Â
âI like that idea.â
âDo you-â You hesitate. âNever mind.â You grab the strings of his hoody and pull on them, hoping it will distract him enough.
But this is Suna and heâs got laser focus when he shouldnât, really.
âNo, no, what did you want?â
âNothing,â you push your lower lip out but heâs not buying it today, biting it but keeping his eyes sharp. You shouldnât have started what you canât finish.
âIâm hungry,â you decide. Itâs your best bet to push this away from you.
It works for a while, at least, because youâve been undecided on food before, weighing the options of different restaurants, eating and not eating late at night.
Rintarou knows you like that, so you have reasonable hope that heâll stitch it up to this.
-
âNow,â he drags a fry through the ketchup on your plate and holds it up to your lips. âWhatâs on your mind?â
âI donât know what youâre talking about.â
âLiar,â he drags another fry through the ketchup and taps your cheek with it, grinning when you move to pat away the ketchup stain. âStop.â
âOnly if you tell me whatâs going through your head.â
âThat youâre annoying is going through my head.â
âBoohoo, youâre so sad about it. Tell me.â
âNo.â
Rintarou grabs another fry and you know you canât win this one, you just know.
âFine,â you huff and he drops the fry with a winning smile. âI was wondering⊠whyIâmnotonyourinstagram.â
His smile does not waver.Â
âAh,â he nods. âI should have guessed that.â
âRight?â you nod, despite the anxious thrumming in your stomach. âWeâve been dating quite a while.â
âMhm,â he eats a fry and chews slowly. âYou know putting you on my Instagram is going to unleash hell, right?â
âWhat?â You furrow your brows. âNo, itâs not.â
âYouâve seen my posts, right? People follow me for my jokes.â
âAnd your thirst traps.â
âOh,â he blushes. âThose. Yeah. I do upload these for you, so.â
âLiar,â you tell him. âYou could just send them to me if that were the case.â
âBut whereâs the fun in that?â Rintarou grins, teasing you. âBesides, you havenât posted me either.â
âI was waiting for you to post first.â
âOh, are we scared now?â
âNo!â You pull your phone out and put it on the table. âBet?â
âOh, itâs on.â He waves his phone around. âWhoever posts first pays for the food?â
âWe already paid, itâs McDonalds.â
âNot today,â Rintarou scoffs. He means business now. âThis Sunday, big date. Loser pays.â
âFine,â you hiss, grabbing your phone. You already have the perfect picture saved. âGo.â
-
You win by a measly five seconds and you suspect that Rintarou let you win, not that youâre going to complain.Â
Heâs got the bigger paycheck.
âLet me see what you posted,â you giggle, still high from your win.
âYours is cute,â Rintarou comments, turning his phone to show you your post, the two of you, sunglasses on, at golden hour.Â
âI kno- Rin! Whyâd you pick that?â
âWhat? Itâs cute!â
âItâs not cute, my shirt has stains on it.â
âAnd I still claim you as my girlfriend. Youâre welcome.â

jihoon flipped open his notebook, ready to show the boys the new lyrics he'd been working on. the practice room was its usual chaosâmingyu rummaging through snack bags, chan tapping out a beat on his kneeâbut they quieted when jihoon cleared his throat.
âalright, listen to this,â he began, but the words caught in his throat when he looked down.
his notebook, usually filled with meticulous handwriting and carefully crafted lyrics, was now decorated with tiny hearts scattered across the margins.
âoh my god,â mingyu gasped, leaning over before jihoon could close the notebook. âagain?â
chan burst into laughter, craning his neck to look. âthatâs the third time this month, isnât it? your notebookâs turning into a scrapbook.â
âitâs cute,â mingyu teased, smirking as he leaned back in his chair. âyou know she does it because she loves you, right?â
jihoon sighed, snapping the notebook shut. âcan we focus on the lyrics?â
chan grinned, nudging mingyu. âi think he likes it, though. look at him blushing.â
âiâm not blushing,â jihoon shot back, his ears burning as he stuffed the notebook into his bag.
mingyu waved him off with a laugh. âwhatever you say, loverboy. now, are you going to play us the song, or are we just here for show-and-tell?â
âthe song,â jihoon muttered, trying to suppress the small smile tugging at his lips. no matter how much they teased him, he couldnât deny how those little hearts made him feel.
later that evening, jihoon walked through the front door of your shared apartment, the soft glow of the living room lights welcoming him home. you were on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, flipping through a book. you looked up when you heard him, your face lighting up.
âyouâre home,â you light up, setting the book aside. âhow was work today?â
jihoon shrugged off his bag and walked over to join you on the couch. he sat beside you, leaning his head against your shoulder as the rest of his body melts against you. he let out a tired sigh, but there was something warm and soft in his expression.
âit was fine,â he said, glancing up at you. after a beat, a small smile crept onto his face. âyou doodled hearts in my notebook again.â
your eyes widened, and you immediately covered your mouth to stifle a laugh. âoh no. did the guys see?â
jihoon nodded, the memory still fresh in his mind. âmingyu wouldnât shut up about it. chan either.â
âiâm sorry,â you said, though you couldnât help the giggle that escaped. âi didnât think theyâd notice.â
jihoon shook his head, the corners of his mouth twitching. âthey notice everything. but itâs fine.â
you raised an eyebrow. âfine? you didnât hate it?â
he let out a soft chuckle, leaning his head back against the couch. âhate it? no. i mean... itâs a tiny bit embarrassing, sure, but...â
âbut what?â you pressed, leaning closer to him.
he glanced at you, his expression softening. âbut itâs nice. it makes me think of you while iâm working.â
your cheeks flushed, and you couldnât help the grin that spread across your face. âso you do like it.â
jihoon rolled his eyes, but the smile didnât leave his face. âdonât push it.â
âyouâre so cute when youâre flustered,â you teased, poking his cheek. âmaybe i should add more next time.â
âjust donât cover up my lyrics,â he muttered, though his tone was light.
you let out a laugh, holding out your pinky.
he stared at your pinky for a moment before linking it with his, a small chuckle escaping his lips.
âyou know,â he said after a moment, his voice quieter, âthose little things you do... they mean a lot. even if mingyu and chan make it their mission to humiliate me over it.â
you leaned your head on his shoulder, your smile softening. âyou really think so? i can stop if it makes you uncomfortable.â
jihoonâs eyes widened slightly, and he shook his head quickly. âno, donât stop. i like it.â
you tilted your head to look at him, surprised by how earnest he sounded. âeven if the guys keep teasing you about it?â
he let out a soft chuckle, his fingers brushing against yours. âlet them. they can say whatever they want. it doesnât matter.â
âwhy not?â you asked quietly, your voice barely above a whisper.
jihoon turned his head to meet your gaze, his expression warm and sincere. âbecause itâs you. and i love everything about you. even your silly little doodles.â
your heart skipped at his words, the quiet affection in his voice making your chest ache in the best way. you smiled, letting your hand slip into his, your fingers intertwining.
âokay,â you murmured, your voice teasing but soft. âi wonât stop, then.â
jihoon smiled back, pressing a light kiss to your temple. âgood. because, i dont want you to. & honestly, i think iâd miss them if you did.â
and for a moment, the teasing and chaos of the day faded away, leaving just the two of you in the quiet comfort of home. the hearts you doodled might have been small, but to jihoon, they were reminders of everything he cherished about youâyour love, your care, and the way you always managed to brighten his day.

Dance Like Nobody's Watching
Dick Grayson x Reader
Masterlist - Join My Taglist!
Written for Fictober 2024!
Fandom:Â DC
Day Twenty-Seven Prompt: "Let me remind you."
Summary: Dick's SO is having trouble adjusting to the new scrutiny of attending Wayne galas as his date, but thankfully, he has an idea to help with that.
Word Count: 1,449
Category: Fluff
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
I sipped my champagne, trying to get a handle on my nerves. I could handle fighting the Joker and Scarecrow with no problems, but attending a Wayne gala as the partner of Dick Grayson was throwing me for a loop.
I fought the urge to scowl about it. If one thing could make this night more awkward, it would be some person I barely knew finding me making faces in the corner.
What irritated me the most was that this was by no means my first Wayne gala. I'd grown up with Dick and spent countless hours in the manor with him and his family. We'd been each other's primary entertainment at these things as kids. But being here as his date, and as an adult expected to do more than turn the banquet tables into a fort, was turning out to be surprisingly stressful.
When we were kids, nobody seemed to care what we did much beyond just noticing and thinking we were cute. Now, it seemed like everybody in this room wanted something from Dick, and either saw me as a threat to their ability to get it or as a secret backdoor to him, if only they could get me on their side.
I was seriously on the edge of losing it and going back to the buffet tables kid-style.
Dick had done his best to stick with me, but people kept showing up to pull both of us away from each other for a conversation, and we hadn't been able to do much without being incredibly, obviously rude. I'd finally managed to extract myself enough for some breathing room, but I could see Dick still in the middle of things, a group of old men who almost certainly wanted money from Bruce talking his ear off.
Even from here, I could tell Dick was barely paying attention to them. His eyes scanned the crowd, and after a moment, they landed on me. He raised an eyebrow, and I gave him a reassuring smile. Unfortunately for me, he knew me too well and was too good of a detective to believe it.
Dick quickly made his excuses to the men around him, and didn't take no for an answer as he left the conversation and headed in my direction. He crossed the massive room quickly to stand before me, and this time when I smiled at him, it was much more genuine.
"Hey," he said, returning my smile and leaning in to kiss my temple as soon as he reached me. "How are you doing?"
"Good." I tried to strengthen my smile, but Dick saw right through it. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"...Are you sure?"
I sighed. "It's just... this all feels a little weird. I've known you forever, you know it's never been important to me that you're the famed son of billionare Bruce Wayne. But it seems like that's all anybody else here can think about, and they all either hate me because they want to be with you or want to be my new best friend, all so they can get to you and Bruce. It's fine, none of their opinions matter to me, but... I just didn't expect to feel so weird coming to one of these things again."
Dick took a step closer to me, reaching out to take my arm with a concerned look on his face. He spoke quietly enough that, even if someone had been intentionally eavesdropping (which had happened more than once tonight), they wouldn't be able to hear him.
"Do you want to go? I'm happy to leave if you want to. We don't have to stay here."
I shook my head before he'd even finished his sentence.
"Running and no-showing Bruce's galas isn't a long-term solution. And seriously, it's fine, I'll adjust. I just... I don't know. I miss the days where we hid under the punch bowl giggling out of sight of everybody, you know?"
My boyfriend grinned. "I mean, if you really think about it, there's nothing keeping us from doing that again."
"I can think of a few things," I laughed, swatting his shoulder lightly. He hummed, but sobered quickly as he scanned the room, clearly thinking.
"Well... if you're sure you don't want to commandeer the space under the desert table?"
"I'm sure."
"Then why don't we try dancing? That's a little more... socially acceptable than hiding under the tables, but it's one of the things we used to have the most fun doing at these things. Remember how we'd just take over the entire floor to do whatever we wanted when we were kids?"
I laughed. "Yeah, of course. Although it's a little harder to remember the feeling that inspired us to just run out there before."
Dick smiled softly and extended his hand to me.
"Let me remind you."
My heart did a little backflip, especially when I met Dick's sparkling blue eyes. I huffed a little laugh of disbelief, especially at the thought of stepping into the center of the spotlight when I knew just how many people were going to be watching. But then I looked at Dick again, and I decided that, as long as I was with him, they didn't matter.
I took his hand, and he didn't waste a second before pulling me after him to the dance floor. I laughed, unable to hold back a smile even as heads turned towards us. Dick ignored them completely. He pulled me to his chest when we reached the center of the floor and wrapped an arm securely around my waist, the other taking one of my hands. I rested my free hand on his shoulder, and as we started swaying together to the music, his eyes didn't leave mine for a second.
"You know..." he started after a moment, drawing my attention back from a glance over his shoulder to where people were watching us. "This is nice, but a slow dance wasn't exactly what I had in mind."
I gave Dick my full attention and raised an eyebrow.
"I'm almost afraid to ask, but... what did you have in mind?"
He grinned. "Something more like this."
Suddenly, Dick was spinning me out and away from him, twirling across the floor before pulling me back. We'd know each other long enough and spent enough time as vigilante teammates that his steps were easy to follow, even as he started something closer to swing that didn't match the music at all.
I laughed, a warm feeling spreading through my chest as I shared a smile with my partner. In the back of my mind, I knew more people were probably watching and judging than ever. But suddenly they didn't matter like they used to.
Dick swung me around again, then pulled me close and into an exaggerated dip. If I didn't know he was a superhero, I probably would've been a little worried about him dropping me. Instead, it just made me laugh, especially as Dick grinned and led me into something way too close to something you'd do to Cotton Eye Joe.
With every second that passed on the dance floor with Dick, everyone else in the room faded further and further away. It felt like when we were kids, just me and the most important person in the world to me having the time of our lives.
"Feel any better?" asked Dick, whispering in my ear as he pulled me close again, both hands wrapped tight around my waist. I smiled, running my hands up his arms and across his shoulders.
"So much better. Thank you."
"You don't need to thank me. We're partners, you know I'd never leave you hanging."
I pulled back enough to meet Dick's eyes, and found their familiar sparkle and a smile waiting for me. I gave him a soft smile back.
"I love you, Dick Grayson. So fucking much."
Dick beamed back at me. "I love you too. Now come on, the band's finally catching on to what we want. I want to dance with the love of my life to music that's actually fun for dancing."
I just laughed as Dick swung me out and away from him again, the two of us twirling across the floor, this time in sync with the now-faster music. Suddenly, after a few minutes with Dick, the propsect of all these Wayne galas didn't seem nearly so daunting anymore. Sure, I might have to deal with a few unpleasant strangers whose opinions didn't matter to me. But I'd also get to do this, laughing and dancing and having the time of our lives, with my favorite person in the world.
Worth it in the long run, as far as I was concerned.

We Fell In Love in October
Fandom: Blue lock
Characters: Chigiri x reader
------------â---------------------------------------
The crisp autumn air nipped at your cheeks as you walked through the park, the leaves crunching under your boots. The world was painted in hues of red, orange, and gold, and despite the chill in the air, you felt warm. Maybe it was the way the sun filtered through the trees, casting everything in a golden glow. Or maybe it was the way Chigiri Hyoma walked beside you, his hand brushing yours with every step.
You glanced at him, your heart fluttering when you caught him smiling softly at the trees overhead. His long, red-pinkish hair fell in waves over his shoulders, catching the light like something out of a dream.
âWhy are you staring?â he teased, not even looking at you but clearly aware of your gaze.
âBecause youâre pretty,â you replied, grinning when his cheeks flushed a light pink that rivaled his hair.
You hadnât expected to fall for Chigiri, not like this. Youâd met during the summer, at a mutual friendâs party, where heâd spent most of the evening sitting alone on the porch, sipping a soda and watching the stars. Youâd joined him out of sheer curiosity, and before you knew it, the two of you had spent hours talking about everything and nothing.
By the time autumn rolled around, you were inseparable. There was something easy about being with him, like the two of you existed in your own little world.
âLetâs sit here,â Chigiri said, gesturing to a bench under a massive oak tree. The ground was covered in fallen leaves, their vibrant colors contrasting against the dark wood of the bench.
You sat beside him, pulling your coat tighter around you as the wind picked up. He noticed and shrugged off his jacket, draping it over your shoulders without a word.
âYouâll freeze,â you protested, but he just shook his head.
âIâll be fine. You, on the other hand, are terrible at hiding when youâre cold.â
You laughed, leaning into him. âGuess Iâm lucky to have you, then.â
He hummed in agreement, resting his head on top of yours. The silence between you was comfortable, filled only by the rustling of leaves and the distant laughter of children playing.
âDo you ever think about how we got here?â you asked after a while, your voice soft.
Chigiri lifted his head to look at you, his expression curious. âWhat do you mean?â
âI donât know. JustâŠhow we met, how quickly we became close. It feels like it was meant to happen, you know?â
He considered your words for a moment before nodding. âI get that. Sometimes it feels like youâve been in my life forever.â
There was a vulnerability in his voice that made your chest tighten. You reached out, threading your fingers through his, and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
âIâm glad we met,â you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
âMe too,â he replied, his lips curving into a soft smile that made your heart skip a beat.
As the sun began to set, casting the park in shades of pink and purple, Chigiri turned to you with a glint of mischief in his eyes.
âWant to do something stupid?â he asked, already standing and tugging you to your feet.
âWhat kind of stupid?â you asked, laughing as he led you toward the pile of leaves under the oak tree.
Without answering, he let go of your hand and jumped into the pile, sending leaves flying everywhere. You stared at him in disbelief before bursting into laughter.
âHyoma, youâre such a child,â you teased, but he just grinned up at you from the pile of leaves.
âCome on, live a little,â he said, holding out his hand.
You hesitated for only a moment before taking it, letting him pull you into the pile with him. The two of you ended up tangled together, leaves clinging to your hair and clothes as you laughed like kids.
âThis is ridiculous,â you said, trying to catch your breath.
âAnd yet, youâre smiling,â he pointed out, his own grin softening into something more genuine. âYouâre beautiful when you smile, you know that?â
Your laughter faded, replaced by a warmth that spread through your chest as he leaned closer. His eyes searched yours for a moment before he closed the distance, his lips brushing against yours in a kiss that was as gentle as the falling leaves.
When the two of you finally pulled apart, Chigiri rested his forehead against yours, his breath mingling with yours in the cool air.
âYou know,â he said, his voice soft, âI think Iâm falling for you.â
Your heart swelled at his words, and you smiled, brushing a stray leaf from his hair.
âI think Iâm falling for you, too.â
And as the two of you lay there, surrounded by the colors of autumn and the fading light of the day, you realized there was nowhere else youâd rather be.
Because falling in love with Chigiri Hyoma felt as natural as the changing of the seasons, as inevitable as the leaves falling from the trees.

[âŠ] Outside, Shen Yuan finds Binghe sat at the mouth of their tent, the outer layer of his robes shed, sleeves cuffed, and tangled curls falling over his shoulders. When Shen Yuan joins him, he watches him a moment sidelong. The light of the fire settles across the planes of his face, casting it in a warm glow and turning the fine hair along his forehead and temples a brilliant red. A bit distracted and preoccupied with his own thoughts, Shen Yuan doesnât immediately notice when Bingheâs attention shifts from the jovial conversations happening around the fire to Shen Yuan himself until itâs too late.
âWhat?â Binghe grumbles, no anger or irritation in his tone.
âWhat do you mean âwhat?ââ Shen Yuan returns and Bingheâs mouth hitches skyward, a faint pair of dimples sinking into his cheeks.
âShen-shixiong is staring. Is there something on my face?â
Shen Yuan flinches, caught, and turns away to face the fire with a huff. âNo. Iâm only thinking.â
Silence. For a split second, Shen Yuan thinks he will be granted quiet and thenâ âI donât like ââ,â Binghe says. âHe strikes me as someone who doesnât always say what they mean.â
âYouâre only bitter because heâs set those talismans up.â
Binghe pouts, dropping his chin onto his palm. âStill. I donât trust him.â
âWell heâs putting a lot of trust into you. Into both of us,â Shen Yuan chastises gently, bringing his knees to his chest. âThe least we can do is keep our end of the bargain and play nice, yes?â
Something shifts in Bingheâs expression then, and Shen Yuan has half a mind that heâs going to argue again when he says on a low exhale, as though this were a fragile thing, âhe trusts me because you defended me.â
Shen Yuan stares plainly at him now. âYou were eavesdropping?â
âI prefer âaccidentally overhearing.ââ
Shen Yuan isnât sure why it feels as though some kind of secret has just been revealed. It was what heâs always sort of known, wasnât it? Binghe was good! Deep down under the layers of posturing and theatrical threats, he meant well. It became clearer and clearer the longer they worked together.
But Binghe, as it would seem, isnât quite done with calling him out. âââ called me a half-demon, but Shen-shixiong said I was a âgood manâŠââ
âWh-whatâs all this then? If you want me to inflate your ego a second time, it wonât happenâŠâ
Binghe smiles. âI only mean to say that I canât be both. Perhaps itâs that Shen-shixiong has been traveling with me so long that heâs forgotten his self preservationââ
âAre you accusing me of being delusional?â Shen Yuan demands and Bingheâs smile drops, replaced with wide-eyed confusion. Sighing, Shen Yuan pinches the bridge of his nose, willing the faint makings of a migraine there to go away. âYou can be both. YouâŠare both. One doesnât cancel out the other.â
â ( âthe prince and the safflowerâ )

PLEASE DO MORE OF IZZY ITS SO GOODđđ
Ëâșâ§âË Ëââ§âșËâź-------------------âźËâșâ§âË Ëââ§âșË
surprise
you uncover a secret of izzyâs.
warnings: none
a/n: AHHHH MY FIRST REQUEST!!! tysm i hope you like this even tho itâs short đđ also everyone donât mind the spacing, my phone is still acting up (i need a new one so bad itâs insane).
it was a late summerâs evening and you and izzy were hanging out in the studio. downtown LA was busy as ever, and the cars provided a calming sort of ambience. it was just you two there. your boyfriend wanted to get some writing done without the other members of the band, and so he invited you to join him.
as izzy strummed his guitar, you stared out the window, just listening. the half-fleshed out melody provided a soundtrack to your daydream. until he messed up.
âi keep fucking this up!â izzy complained, putting his guitar down and sighing.
you looked over at him. âbabe, donât worry about it. itâs fine. you arenât even recording anything.â
he didnât reply, but you could still feel the dissatisfaction. âwhat is this for?â
âa new song.â
âwell⊠yeah. but do you know what itâs gonna be like? have you got lyrics yet?â
âi⊠dunno.â izzy coughed.
âwhat does that mean? you either do or donât.â you laughed.
again, izzy didnât reply. you eyed him up, trying to silently coax an answer out of him. it didn't work. but he seemed⊠embarrassed? that was unlike him. you pressed for information again.
âcâmon. are you hiding something from me?â you feigned sadness, clutching your hand to your chest.
âno. i just⊠wanted it to be a surprise.â
that caught your interest. the way he looked down at the floor was intriguing. was this a surprise for you?
âis this for me?â you giggled. it had to be. why else would he be acting so secretive?
âgod, stop fucking pressing.â izzy huffed. he got up and left the room, reaching for his pocket as he did so, seemingly searching for his lighter.
you were taken aback. sure, you and izzy had both said much more awful things to eachother than that when you fought, but that was weird. you hadnât meant anything by asking. the overreaction made you uneasy. what if it was for someone else? a secret girl?
you sat in the studio for a few minutes, staring at izzyâs guitar. you finally went to find him, and saw him leaning on the railing outside the building, smoking a cigarette. âhey,â you said, walking up beside him, âwhatâs wrong?â
izzy said nothing. he just took another drag of his cigarette. you looked up at the sky. it was sunset now. the tones of pink and yellow melted into eachother beautifully. minutes passed in silence, until izzy tapped you with his elbow and held out the nearly-done cigarette to you. you took it to your mouth and inhaled.
âlook,â your boyfriend started, âi wanted it to be a surprise âcause iâm writing a song for you. well- songs. i wanted to perfect them and show you. yâknow, with the rest of the guys.â
you looked over at him. songs? you hadnât expected that. you and izzy hadnât been going out for that long, only about four months. you didnât think he could write multiple songs about you. that made you smile.
âam i really that important to you?â you laughed, stubbing out the cigarette on the railing the two of you were leaning on.
izzy pulled you in close to him, touching sides. âwell, it would be kinda stupid if you werenât. why would i be dating you then?â
âare any of these songs done? do they have a riff?â
âone does. if we go back in, iâll show you.â
and so you dragged izzy back in eagerly.

lowk hear me out:
post war, touya is recovering in the hospital, and rei comes and visits reader in jail to learn more about her son since they were dating đ„ș
A Mother's Word
TouyaxF!Reader
ft. Rei Todoroki
You had told the guards no visitors. You knew if anyone were to come see you, it'd just be to laugh in your face.
The war wasn't kind to you, but it was harsher to your boyfriend, Touya. While he was burning alive with his family, you were attempting to subdue heroes far from your love.
It's what All For One insisted upon, so you had to listen.
But you didn't join the League for him. Not even for Touya. The message that Shigaraki was spreading about a world where people who were seen as villains had the same chances as heroes? That was something you wanted, no, needed to believe in. Your family abandoned you when you were younger, and you'd been running along the streets ever since.
You joined the League and found your new family, purpose, and the love of your life.
You just didn't know what it meant, loving Dabi. Because you didn't love him, no, well- maybe you did. But it was Touya, the man he was when it was just you two, alone- that's who you love.
So, imagine your surprise when you discover his own mother had arrived to visit you. You had only heard short stories about Rei, and you weren't entirely sure what to expect when you met her.
The guards approach you, asking if you'd see her. She hid behind them clutching her bag, but the sadness and exhaustion across her face made you feel sympathetic. He had her eyes, after all.
"Okay, just this once," you manage to croak out as you suddenly feel self-concsious. What could she want? Is Touya recovering still? Is Endeavour coming too? He better not, you'd go feral trying to hurt him. Even if Touya didn't want you to, you'd always hate that man for what he did to his family.
"I- I was just visiting Touya in the hospital yesterday" Rei says quietly as she stands in front of the bars caging you in. "He was asking about you."
"Typical Touya, worried more about me than he is about himself. I'm doing fine..." you reply coldly, avoiding eye contact.
"He- he said he wanted me to meet you." Rei placed her hand gently on the metal bars separating you both.
You stop and glance up at her, the way her eyes were pleading for answers made you freeze. "He said that to me too, before, you know-" you respond softly this time.
"Can you... can you tell me about him?" Rei's voice cracks as she asks.
"About him?" You look at her puzzled.
"My son, he was so young when he disappeared that I- what's he like?" Rei questioned, her eyes wide.
"Touya... Touya he's-" You start and choke back the tears that are trying to fall. "He's an idiot. He doesn't think before he jumps into danger because he's not afraid to die... that's how we met actually." You smile fondly as you wipe the small drops of water off your cheeks.
"I was supposed to just do recon for the League, my first solo mission. But it was a trap and the heroes had me cornered. I didn't know what to do- I froze. I was ready to give up. Then Touya just kind of showed up, right in front of me. Didn't even think twice."
Rei hesitantly smiles as she nods, "That sounds a lot like Touya, glad to know he didn't lose that part of him."
"He's protective, that's for sure. Got jealous easily... whenever they'd send me on missions without him he'd find some way to tag along. I think that ever since we met, it was like he felt he had to protect me... like he was afraid to ever lose me" you start to cry and let your head fall into your hands.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry dear. I didn't mean to make you cry," Rei frowns.
"I love him so much... you created a beautiful son- I just miss him so much" you manage to sob out.
Rei nods, wiping her own tears, âwhat else do you love about him?â
âHe was honest with me⊠he told me about you all too, before we even started datingâŠâ
Rei freezes, but continues listening.
âHeâs a great listener. Lets me talk about anything. And god, when you get him started, he never shuts upâŠâ You smile to yourself. âWhat Iâd do to hear his stupid voice againâŠâ
"He's going to be okay... he's recovering..." She smiles reassuringly but with a pang of sadness.
"Can you tell him something for me the next time you see him?" You ask her hopefully. Rei nods in response.
"No goodbyes, I'll see you soon, idiot." you smile and finally lift your head to meet Rei's eyes once more. She smiles and nods.

40 | Different
Series: Unexpected
Paring: (Matt Sturniolo x OFC Brock!) (Chris Sturniolo x OFC Brock!)
Word Count:Â 1k
Warnings: none
| MASTERLIST |
"Dani, there's your best friend." Nick says as Matt enters the gas station.
"I can't stand her." Matt plays around in a serious tone.
"Do you wanna fight in a convent store?" Dani spins around to face him.
"Let's do it outside." Matt heads for the door.
"Someone is moody today." Nick watches him so he turns around to give him a look.
Dani heads outside to see Matt at the gas pump, "So are we fighting out here?" She laughs joining him.
"We don't have an audience yet. It would be no fun."
"Would you let me win our fight?" She smiles batting her eyes at him, "To be nice?"
"Maybe."
Her jaw drops, "Then maybe I won't sleep in your room tonight." She crosses her arms.
"Yeah, right." He opens the driver side door, "Now, get in." He makes her laugh so she gets in the back seat leaning forward.
"I'm serious about sleeping in your room." She lets him know.
"Okay, so that just means I'll go sleep in your room then." He looks back at her.
Her eyes glance down at his lips wanting to kiss him so badly before back to his eyes, "I'll lock my door then." She leans back into the seat.
"I'll just keep knocking till you open the door then." He says so she mocks him. "Your mom and brother come tomorrow, right?"
"Yep, I'm not nervous but I am at the same time. Not because of Gage but my mom. Last time she was here she asked if I liked you and I feel like she'll ask again."
"What did you tell her then?" He asks her as they still wait for the other two.
"I told her I liked you but I'm not risking our friendship." She sighs.
"Then just tell her the same thing again unless you want to tell her."
"No!" Dani basically shouts, "She can't keep a secret of her life depended on it. Me liking you isn't big to her but us together is." Dani explains.
"Then you just tell her the same thing as last time then." He laughs a bit as the other two finally get back to the car.
Back at home Dani went to her room because she was hanging out with Tara in a few hours. They were gonna go out and have a girls night where Dani could get in and still have fun without drinking.
While doing her makeup, Matt walked into her room laying on her bed to see what she was doing since he was bored. As he admired her, he pulled out his phone taking a picture of her. The sound of the camera had Dani turn her body to look at him.
"You look beautiful."
Dani lets out a loud chuckle, "You're so stupid." She turns back around.
"Where do you plan on going?" He asks because she never just does her makeup to sit around the house.
"Tara invited me out. She said I need it. Whatever that means because I still can't drink yet." She laughs.
"What's the dress code?" He asks curious.
"Black." Was all she gives him, "So why don't you leave so I can get dressed in a few minutes?" She gives him a smile.
"Fine, fine, fine." He gets off her bed leaving the room so she could finish.
When she was finished getting ready, she texted Tara and she said she would come by and pick her up to go out.
"I feel a bit uncomfortable going into public dressed like this but Tara said." Dani groans walking up the stairs to join the guys and they all stop what they were doing to look at her.
"Damn Dani. Look at you, girl." Nick applauds her, "You look hot so embrace it."
"Thank you."
"Also don't you do photo shoots is similar things at time?" Chris asks since in the past she complained about an outfit she had to wear once to him.
"Yes, but I wasn't going into a public place when people will stare in person." She explains tugging her dress down a bit.
Matt still hasn't said anything as he kept eyeing her up and down. When he finally realized the other two were noticing he hasn't said anything he speak up, "You could wear black tights with it."
"There was hole in them so I had to throw them out sadly." She rolls her eyes going to take a seat.
Matt could see Chris trying to look at Dani again out of the corner of his eye, so he grabs the blanket next to him tossing onto her which earns him a look from her. "You have cold chills." He lies but she still thanks him.
When Chris excuses himself to use their bathroom for a second, Matt looks at Dani again, "What?" She asks.
"He kept trying to get a look at you. That's why I covered you up." He explains to her.
"And you care?" She tires not to smile.
"You said you feel uncomfortable wearing it so I was helping you."
"Wearing it out in public, Matt. Here I don't care. Plus in the past when we went to the mall he helped me zip up a dress I was having trouble with." She explains to him.
"Excuse me?" He gives her a look, "He's been with you in a dressing room? And helped you?"
"Are you jelly? She pokes at his arm.
"What no. It's just my brother has seen m-, you change clothes."
"For one, he didn't see me change. He only zipped up my dress for me and unzipped it then left the room. And two, you're jelly at the thought." She laughs poking his arm more.
"Of course I'm jealous at the thought of him seeing you change clothes now. Shit is different now." He admits to it.
"If I'm changing in front of anyone it's Nick."
"If not me then yeah." He agrees.
"I haven't even changed in front of you yet." She laughs.
"Well when you're ready." He says to make it clear.

Media saying: "....Witnesses describe his behaviour as increasingly erratic, including outbursts of frustration and references to his One Direction past."
You think that Liam's frustration included also the thing that he changed hotel cause fans was 24/7 outside his previous hotel, and then the same thing happened to Casasur Hotel?
good question.
Its hard to believe what the media says, and it's also hard to even believe the pictures too. Allegedly they have been tampered with too...
But if you look at these pics. It seems to be the same guy and liam looks pissed.
Idk if the pic of liam standing liam by elevator was taken before or after they dragged him. Supposedly it was multiple times he was taken up and down the elevator. Allegedly, he passed out in the elevator according to some sources.
I had always mentioned on this blog that it seemed like there were no fan pics taken outside the casasur hotel. Only the Hyatt hotel.
Im not saying that one girl who went on argentina news was a liar, I think her name was dayana or Daniella(?). I believe the news station was called general noticias iirc.
And she said he was going to come back down after he was gonna eat something. But it's strange she didn't get a video of him at all? Or even a pic of him walking back inside hotel. It was full glass panels after all. (Also does that mean roger was on his way with food? Allegedly he had brought liam cookies and mcdonalds the previous day?) Because liam didn't have access to his own money. apparently toger was controlling liams money. People think liam was given a sedative through the cookies. Also fans say liam was a big fan of cookies in general. So that was probably the best idea they thought of to drug him...
And now that we see these new leaked pics, I didn't see anyone standing in front of the front of hotel...? No fans...
Cause I remember the gonzalo article talking about how Liam stays at the Hyatt usually, but too many fans found him there. So apparently he switched to polo place. Gonzalo said he was going to join them on that trip(since he owns polo place), but had business in America to do... he also claimed liam was on the phone with him that day and seemed fine. He claimed liam had new phone or phone number iirc according to the article,
To my knowledge, they were all staying at hyatthotel, (roger, lulu, kate, liam). There's video of them getting in van from hyatt to go to nialls concert.
Then in Kate's last video where she leaves, they are at gonzalos polo house villa. Then liam and roger go to casasur. I doubt roger ever had a room booked there. Supposedly Roger only visited hotel 3 times to pay off liams hotel tab. Which also makes me wonder why did Roger bring him food from mcdonalds when he could have ordered something from restaurant. And then roger could have come over and paid for it. Also I had a theory that roger was controlling liam acting as a sover coach, which possibly could've pissed liam off making him more erratic, plus if liam was hungry, hunger puts people km bad mood. Also why did Roger leave his friend alone in a sketchy hotel? Why didn't he invite liam to his house?
Liam didn't seem to have his suitcase, which seems likely considering he kept rotating similar outfits and of course the rumor that Kate left with his credit cards and only had 18 dollars to his name. (See eternal liams twitter for her theory on liam was victim of human trafficking).
And then idk ifyou saw my postfrom other day talking about how lulu was saying do you have the drug an on phone with brayan allegedly. Also idk if you saw my post linking brayan to lula. They've been friends for at least a year. So after the polo place visit, they go to casasur where brayan delivers drugs.
Also the brayan pic seems imo to have been taken back in May when liam went to argentina for louis concert. Liam had a fullerface back then.
Anyways, back to your question...
Did those dudes grab him off the couch and left his laptop there? Then go on it themselves to look through his laptop? There's also the broken tv pic where you can see what looks like a reflection of laptop on the bed. Alongside a possible black cap...but even then people say it could've been a different room staged.
Liam could've been aggravated by getting harassed by the staff obviously them grabbing him would've pissed off anyone and obviously someone would act erratically. But the media tries to spin it like he was crazy and on drugs, etc. Which he could've technically had some untraceable drugs in his system for all we know. Maybe a sedative perhaps. But he was trying to renew his visa which meant he needed to be clean.
I know with almost all substances there is called a half-life and it only shows up in the body for a certain amount of time before it is excreted though the body, whether urine, sweat, etc. Certain substances don't even show up on drugtests. There is a rumor that Christian a, who bought rogers company on the day liam performed at his birthday party (may 2022or may 2923 idr exactly), had hallucinogenic that couldn't be tracked on drug tests. Christian was into mushrooms and hallucinogenics and made a company.
And on liams YT channel, he attended Christians lunch thing. And later liam invested in one of Christians companies and also did an art thing with crypto.
Well also we have to remember that he also stayed at gonzalo's polo place too. No one has made a hard timeline of liams movements throughout his staying argentina. On top of that, that roger has been deleting stuff from liams social media. Tiktok specifically. Roger specifically posted liams last video at polo place to throw people off to show that liam was "fine". While roger did his dirty work behind scenes. It seems that a lot of footage for social media was filmed all at once and released in increments to throw people off his trail.
Also how brayan said that Liam was supposedly paranoid. (If it's true, maybe he was paranoid was gonna kill him.) But of course, people say he was paranoid because of the drugs.
The psychiatrist visit for liam happened during the trip bevause you need a psych eval in order to get visa approved.
And idk if you saw the postsfrom, the other day where i posted screenshots from eternal liam on twitter. She mentioned that mayas family had ties to abc news. Supposedly the first toxicology report came from American abc news. And why did it come out so fast after he had just passed away? It usually takes up to 6 weeks to have results. So it seemed the first toxicology report was from America and falsified on purpose,
Also how would an America source have more Info than the locals? Doesn't make sense.
Sorry I totally went on a random rant again haha. Hopefully I answered your question lol.

Ignore all logistical considerations of "would they ever meet each other under these circumstances". If you don't think Jules Bashir would have chosen to join Starfleet, imagine he is on the station for some other reason, or they meet in some other location.
I wanted to make this poll because I've seen various fics where Garak reassures Julian that far from being upset over him being augmented, Garak is grateful for it, either explicitly because (he thinks) they wouldn't be able to have their usual conversations if it weren't for the augmentations, or simply because he likes Julian "just the way he is" and wouldn't want him to be "different". I disagree that Garak would think like this (or at the very least, I think Julian would react negatively if he did, rather than be reassured), so I wanted to hear everyone else's thoughts.
#garashir#Star Trek: Deep Space 9#this is not just a shipping question btw so please answer whether you view them platonically/romantically/whatever!#Julian Bashir#polls#Starky's original posts#I'll admit. to me there is a very clear right and wrong answer here.#again not in terms of Garak's characterization so much as in terms of JULIAN'S.#I would be fine if Garak said this and Julian felt at least somewhat conflicted about it but I've never seen even that........#I've wanted to make this post for SO LONG but it's a very common thing in a lot of fics that I otherwise REALLY LIKE#from authors that I REALLY LOVE AND ADMIRE#and I have no idea if I'm just being completely insane and oversensitive OTL#but I just read yet another fic where Garak was like ''I have no choice but to be grateful you were genetically enhanced#because Jules would never have joined Starfleet so we never would have met.''#and I just want to yell WHY DO YOU ALL ASSUME THAT#like not even getting into assuming that Jules would be permanently significantly intellectually disabled#based on limited information about his early childhood developmental delays#but more importantly assuming he wouldn't (read: couldn't. because I KNOW that's what you mean.) end up on the station#You! Star Trek fan! Do you think people with intellectual or learning disabilities are allowed in Starfleet? Answer quickly! :)#sorry I told you I've held onto this for too long. and now I'm a deranged bitch about it :|

Is Cat a Kind of Inntinnsic?
The answer, the one I'm sure the author would give, would be no. The story in no way treats Cat's Gift as an Inntinnsic ability. Violet and particularly Xaden don't act as if what she does is at all similar to what an Inntinnsic does.
But I'd argue it has to be in order for it to work.
Because everything is first person from Violet's PoV or a rare chapter from Xaden, I sort of doubt the author really sat down and thought of how certain characters powers would work. If she did, i think she'd have realized Cat's Gift would function similarly to Xaden's second signet.
Cat can manipulate emotions. We're told she can't force someone to feel something they don't, but instead amplify what they do feel. On the surface that doesn't seem anything like an Inntinnsic ability. Where things become more complicated is how she uses that power.
If Cat can't implant an emotion, then she has to know what emotions the person is feeling. Sure, she could just be throwing her ability at people and seeing what sticks, or it could work in broad strokes; emotions overlap, so maybe any negative emotion can be made increasingly worse, while a good one amplified into pure elation.
I'd argue though that her power doesn't seem that broad, instead being pretty focused. Violet was easy to read so it wouldn't even have been hard to read that she hated Cat, and Cat threw out insults during their fight to make sure Violet is more susceptible to her Gift.
But the Venin she goes after at the end of the book wasn't as easy a read. She doesn't know this Venin. She's bragging and boastful, but whose to say that's greed and not pride? Or even done as a way to taunt Violet and make her more afraid?
Yet Cat manipulates the Venin without much difficulty, seeming to know exactly what emotions she's feeling without any trouble.
There's also the issue where people are generally feeling more then one emotion at a time. Violet is always in love with Xaden, but she can also be annoyed with him. Emotions aren't something that are felt one at a time--so how does Cat pick which one to manipulate without knowing instinctively what they're feeling?
I think it's very likely that Cat can either sense what people are feeling, or even see it (I'm thinking sort of like auras) and from there use her power to exaggerate which ever one she wants. It just makes the most sense.
But if that is the case, similar to how Xaden can read people's impulses and intentions, Cat could read their emotions. Now, that's not exactly mind reading, but Xaden's power isn't strictly reading minds either, yet he count's as an inntinnsic. To me what seems to make someone Inntinnsic is that they have no outward tell or rule for using their powers--they can just do it.
Dain isn't an inntinnsic because he requires touch to activate his memory seeing. As long as he does not touch you, you are safe from his ability.
Meanwhile, what makes inntinnsics such a security risk, is that they can activate their signet at anytime without anyone's knowledge. Xaden seems to be using his second signet constantly to read everyone, and no one has ever picked up on it at all.
In a way Cat's Gift seems to be similar in that she can use it without a hard and fast rule. She can just do it. If it works by letting her sense people's emotions, she could be constantly reading people Xaden does, but instead for intent, it's for their emotional state.
Does that not make her power Inntinnsic? Or at least Inntinnsic adjacent?
#fourth wing#iron flame#the empyrean#xaden riorson#catriona cordella#Cat Cordella#idk i find her power interesting#and thinking about how it works and looks to her as she uses it#made me realize it would probably function similarly to Xaden's inntinnsic ability#which means that both of them would have known that neither of them liked each other#the entire time they were together#at least if Cat was a flier back then#the time line seems a little wonky on that front#it says most gryphon Gifts involve mind work#which kind of makes me wonder if maybe poromeil wouldn't kill inntinnsics#since that seems to be something that their people would get way more often#and unlike the Dragon Riders they're not fabricating an entire history#I sort of doubt Yarros would write that#but damn it's kind of a wasted opportunity#the drama when the two sides join together and the Fliers have to expain that#'yeah we have people who fit into the Inntinnsic category and we're fine with them'#but if she did that Xaden's second signet wouldn't be that special#and it wouldn't have been such a big deal when he told Violet about it#since she probably would have already been dealing with people like that already#but that does beg the question what the fuck else mind work is?
