Well I don’t like to go around spoiling future chapters too much, but I shall indulge you guys a little 💖 (obviously these things are not set in concrete, sometimes I end up changing things around)

Azazel is told to do something, and with guilt and regret, he will do it. Jophiel finds out about it and essentially puts into motion a way for Azazel to carry out what Satan wants in a way where he really actually isn’t (lambs to birds, kids to salamanders, etc)

Azazel feels great relief, and great great fear. He’s dragging down an angel into lying to god (even though this is all entirely Jophiels working)

Azazel, tearfully: “But, I made you lie, to thwart the will of God.”

Jophiel, with a shrug: “Mnnnyeah not really, but. I won’t tell anyone if you won’t.”

I think an important thing to remember when discussing Lestat as a queer icon (since it's a topic on the blog lately) is the fact that he's a queer horror icon. That man was never going to be a good man lol. It's exactly how Dr. Frank-n-Furter is a queer icon despite also being a villain and problematic. It's important to see people that we could relate to or admire in some aspects also be completely terrible, to avoid conflating someone you like with someone you who is good/should be imitated. Especially in the context of domestic violence and abuse in queer relationships. I wish this nuance was more present in fandom, because I don't like how people either treat Lestat like he's just a regular queer icon (as in, they ignore the part that makes him a horror to deal with), or diminish his queerness.

I'm also looking forward to people claiming Louis as a queer icon, I have hopes that it will become a more widespread topic as the show simmers, because I also think that Lestat being heralded as a queer icon in the show comes from decades and decades of him being considered one outside of it. This is the firts time (to my knowledge) that Louis has been compelling to the general public, so I guess with time he'll gain more weight in that discussion. I know it might sound too optimistic, given how black queer characters are usually treated, but I'd rather feel like we can go somewhere with this than feeling dejected.

I would write so many things about Lestat's and Louis' queerness and how they differ and interact and affect their lives and the narrative if I had the time. I'd also like to read/hear more about how Louis' queerness interacts and overlaps with his identity as a black man, so if you (or anyone) have any recs I'll gladly take them.

I think the discussion and even the portrayal of DV in queer (and interracial) relationships is a *huge* one for ppl to sidestep and has been one of the most disappointing things here tbh. we *haven't* seen that explored much in queer stories and it's so fucking *common* irl. there's a *lot* to explore there in so many directions, but ppl skip over that all the time just bcuz they don't want anyone to be "mean" to lestat. u can like things and still discuss and criticize them. as u said, look at the rocky horror picture show and the impact that's had. a lot of queer existence in general is always being "other" somehow, and that's why horror is such a good genre for it. to strip that away bcuz u just wanna play rupaul's drag race with lestat is....I mean, ppl can do what they want on their own, but this collective bullshit of forcing others to conform to this too and thinking ur "right" for doing it is a majority of the reason this fandom sucks. most ppl don't even hate lestat tbh, it's these fans that are the problem. nobody lets anyone meet the story where it's at.

I def think, regardless of what the show ends up becoming as a whole, that amc louis has made a huge impact as a black, queer character in major media. I hope ppl continue to analyze him and be inspired by this character and keep it all rolling forward. nobody expected this to be as good as it was at portraying louis and we're blessed af to have jacob in the part too.

god, I don't remember all the good posts I've seen about louis anymore. I tried to even look but I think most were out of the tags and long ago too. I remember a rly good one talking about claudia's relationship to louis and how he prbly wasn't allowed to play with grace's dolls as a kid, so claudia was kind of his "permission" to do that. it also gives a slightly different perspective to claudia's "doll-like" existence, since this was not something explored in louis in the books or 1994 film.

I feel like, if u or anyone is unfamiliar with james baldwin, reading his stuff will give some irl perspective to amc louis too in various ways. equal in paris is a good S2 companion. I think rolin jones even said giovanni's room was an inspiration for S2 too.

im like, what, 10 years late to the whole walking dead game thing but i was way too young back then to understand the game. i hope people still enjoy it, its a really good game (and sad) but im only up to season 3 right now (i only really liked s1 and s2) but im not finished so i cant really make decisions rn

i just want to talk about ben rn and evaluate him cause im rewatching it and now that hes my favourite i notice more things about him now. (i literally look at him everytime hes in frame even if its just showing the back of his head oml)

but anyway i see a lot of ben hate and sure i get it but i dont at the same time ben is so silly how can u hate him

- to start, when we first met ben in the woods, he’d already been through some stuff, like he saw his classmate off herself and turn into a walker, his camp got raided and he was left with 1 friend and his teacher (who both still die btw) so most of what he had left before the apocalypse was gone

- when lee is rationing out the food, if he gives ben food first, kenny comes and tells lee that there’s kids that need food too, and ben literally is like ‘sorry i didnt want any trouble’ like cmon, and he’s literally a kid too he deserves the food as much as anyone else

- on the train he is interested in the controls and being up there, so we can see that he generally enjoyed it. but once lee gets the engine going, kenny comes and ben immediately has to go babysit katjaa clem and duck (he is also visibly upset) AND THEN later on lee asks how ben was doing and he says ‘im watching the girls and not working on a mega cool train’ (let him on the train immediately 😠😠)

- ok, so maybe he did sneak supplies to the bandits and i think this is just me being biased but i feel like him giving the supplies held off the bandits a little. i mean think about it, they moved on from the st john’s farm and started taking from the motel, right? im not sure how the bandits asked ben (if they made it clear then i forgot) but if he refused wouldnt the bandits come attack even earlier? i mean they needed the supplies right, and if ben didnt give them anything to begin with they would have raided the motel anyway. i mean they knew where they were even before the st john incident. idk its just a thought

- i think it was cool how ben managed to confess to lee that he was the one who slipped the bandits supplies. like you can tell ben is a good guy cause the guilt was almost literally eating him from the inside. and even though ben isnt one of the bravest people, he still confessed knowing that lee’s reaction wouldnt be pretty. (also his stance when leaning on the train railing was so silly to me)

- after they meet christa and omid, ben tells lee that his biggest fear was to be eaten by the walkers. i mean he literally said that if he got bitten he would off himself 😢😢

- also ben was always referred to as a child but he was never treated like one, everyone excpected him to be brave and strong but in reality he was just some scrawny highschool student who was scared and couldnt live up to his impossible standards. man, i really just wanna give ben a big hug

- if you tell ben to “kill anything that gets in” he responds with “you know you’re talking to me, right?” poor ben

- even though his biggest fear is getting eaten by walkers, you still have the option to leave him behind, and let him go at the bell tower. i mean how could u do this to him hes already gone through enough

- lastly, the part where ben tells off kenny is literally iconic, that scene singlehandedly made ben one of my favourite characters of all time, i was like everyone else, i didnt care about ben because i thought he was a bad guy since i never really payed attention to him. but i swear when he was telling kenny off it felt like i was being told off too. i mean his point was valid too, kenny had his family to say goodbye to, and ben (and literally everyone else) never got to see their family, (or they saw them as walkers, lee and clem,, :( )

- i know the last point was meant to be the last one but cmon its ben i could type this for ages longer but yeah. he had the literal best character development in the game. at first he was some stupid kid who was always messing up and before he died he was an amazing character who deserved literally everything. omg i cried so hard when he died cause when he fell i was like, oh i think its ok the fall wasnt too far and he said he only hurt his leg, but bro once we saw what really happened my heart sank bro it was so sad i really hoped nothing bad happened to him ☹️☹️ but i think kenny did the right thing cause like we said, his worst fear was the walkers getting to him. gosh i feel like i watched his death for the first time ages ago and i still cant stop thinking about him man

Kate Sharma was really a 26y/o woman fighting her 17 year old sister for a yt man! can u say biggest loser in tv history! I’m just sad for Simone Ashley for having worst role in a show where female characters are so complex huge in personality big part of the show and her role as Kate wasnt/isn’t like you can see when she disappears no one nobody noticed and it makes zero difference in the show as whole like even with Cressida disappearing would’ve made more of difference and what happened kinda feeling and that’s sad but Kate deserves nothing so I’m regrade I’m happy bc it’s what Kate deserves!

I know the characters are still the same, I know we’re gonna get revisits and personally I’m excited for them I love shows/movies where there’s a shift in perspective I think it’s so fun. However I do think they gotta be careful when doing the revisits bc some things would be problematic/racist, and I have read your rant which is why I say that you agree w this. You also agree with this in your response. What I’m confused about thooo is the contradiction in both your rant and your response to me where you say that “ if I‘m going to see anyone scream “bad writing“ or “Louis being made a liar or the memories revisited/changed is racism“ when the changes will hit I‘m just gonna block you.” And then say that it has nothing to do with the problematic directions the show could take to the revisits “because there are many traps there to consider because of the racial change”. And then say “but it’s not bad writing, or racism, if and when these things happen”. I don’t understand, what is it then? oh since we’re on the topic of eren, i want to know. as a levi stan yourself, what are your opinions on eren? am i the only one who absolutely despises him? i think there was a point in the plot where he just lost my sympathy. he went from a traumatized little kid to a power hungry piece of shit in a heartbeat. the man is selfish by all means and i’m sure there’s some “deeper meaning” but even after finishing the manga, i just cannot find any sympathy for him. is it just me?

hmm you’re definitely not the only one who absolutely despises him but i’m not one of those people. (also i’m glad u read the manga bc i can talk about spoilers.)

eren is the most confusing character imo in just about every way. i wanna start with season 4 and rule out the interpretation that he was ‘acting’ being cold and cruel and overall murderous (like in liberio). he’s always been like that. ever since he was a kid he was ‘looking up at the sky’ and pretty much waiting for something to happen, hating the walls. and besides what sheltered (based on what we see of grishas parenting) 9 year old commits cold blooded murder two times? both being that type of kid that would do that, but for a girl his age he’s never actually met? mikasa killed the last guy bc it was life or death but eren was wayyyy too comfortable murdering those men, whether they were sex traffickers or ordinary bandits.

so he’s always been That Way. during the 57th expedition, levi literally said that eren is a monster, and not bc he can transform, but that NOTHING will keep him in a cage. fighting the female titan in stohess? bro already had a bloodlust. “it was like i wanted to die.” “IM GOING TO KILL YOU ALL!!!!” the difference between eren’s bloodlust toward the titans in s1-s3 and onward is him learning that there are other people out there and it’s actually the people stopping him from being free. the whole world hates their island. eren wasn’t satisfied by reaching the sea by itself because he wanted more and more, combined with his desire for revenge.

however: eren cared about his friends. that’s why he was so determined for the rumbling test not to be an option when he was 18, it would’ve meant historia becoming a mindless titan (i think? i just remember historia would’ve been harmed) and he was genuine during the cart scene when he didn’t want anyone to inherit his titan. he meant it when he said he’d always wrap mikasa’s scarf, and he DIDN’T mean it when he said he hated her in s4. that part was acting. idk if i have to drudge up every moment that proves eremika care about each other (shipping aside).

anyway, and when he learned sasha died? he knew it was going to happen - the overall ‘timeline’ of aot is very linear. remember all the flashes of the future at the end of s3p1, the start of s3p2, the start of s2? there are other moments but i’m getting off topic - and he’d laughed bc that’s how eren expresses tremendous grief caused by his own worthlessness. same thing happened when hannes died in s2.

so eren cared about his friends.

MANGA SPOILERS!

hell, arguably eren cared about every innocent person. when he learned he was gonna kill the kid in marley (totally blanking on his name rn sorry), he kneeled in front of him, crying and apologized. that’s another reason i think that the aot timeline is linear. that for 2,000 years, this was set to happen (hence the title of the first episode and the episode where eren goes to paths with zeke). so in a way, EREN is a SLAVE to no one but himself. he didn’t know any of that until he kissed historia’s hand and got all the memories of the future.

about that: when eren kissed historia’s hand and saw the future, he saw up until the moment he starts the rumbling. he didn’t see that his friends would fight him. he didn’t see that he’d lose. i think that’s more proof eren cared about his friends. he knew about sasha, but he couldn’t stop her from dying. when he learned everything that was going to happen, he became so detached bc he knew it was all inevitable.

the person eren is, he would stop at nothing to get ‘freedom’. at his core, he’s malicious and like you said selfish by all means, but he’s not a psychopath either. he thought he had good intentions, and then he had to fully embrace the monster he is. he went from going fucking ballistic at reiner and bert and screaming that they weren’t human anymore to becoming inhuman himself. he’s so fucking complicated.

AND THEN. the final chapter. eren knowing the future must’ve included his knowledge that he sent dina to kill his own mom and start this story. eren knew that he MADE grisha kill rod’s family and steal the founding titan. (more reasons he became detached.) he tells armin that paradis will know peace thanks to 80% of humanity dying, but armin in eren’s last moments acted like he was thankful despite knowing how shit that excuse is, and eren must know it too. a few years of peace and all that environmental damage for what? when the world recovers, it again will try to kill paradis. HELL in the extra pages, we see paradis become a fucking fascist military state. eren didn’t activate the rumbling to protect his friends. eren tried to avoid it to protect his friends.

but it was inevitable. and at the end? he’s a slave to himself. he’s a selfish, immature, pathetic and malicious little brat, the same as he always was. he doesn’t want mikasa to forget about him boo hoo bro. but did he cry about it in front of armin bc eren had any control of beginning the rumbling, sasha dying, etc. and he’s just that horrible? or bc he had no control, and he pushed armin and mikasa away to save them from himself. that could be pretty open to interpretation i think?

so all that said, do i think it’s wrong for u anon or anyone else to hate him? lol absolutely not. even tho i don’t, that’s one of the main themes of aot. there is no black and white. everyone has their one intentions and reasons, and some you can understand, but forgive, some you can understand and can’t forgive, some you can not understand and can forgive. me personally, i can find sympathy for eren, i can understand, but his actions are still unforgivable (even if you simply counted him making that jab at levi that one time on the airship about the letter🔪/hj).

Arcane s2 should give us a fight scene in which Jayce and Viktor fight together and they work so very well together in combat. But then have them use the same exact moves later when they have their inevitable fight against each other. Just to make it hurt harder.

Because honestly lore wise their split isn’t really that melodramatic. Jayce gets Viktor taken off a project and Viktor is pissed and leaves for Zaun. (I mean Viktor was creating “emotions off switches” and what not). And also the whole not standing up for him with the Blitzcrank debacle. It’s not so much as a real split as it is workplace drama. (That ends up creating a supervillain. Actually lol u could kinda compare it to Norman Osborn and Doc Ock in the Spiderman PS game)

But Arcane has established them as very close friends as opposed to lore wise being colleagues that perhaps understood each other the best but had very diff life philosophies. So their divorce arc has to be painful, it has to be dramatic. (And if ur a shipper, i mean hey it will give us nice fic material to work with)

Just imagine a good fight scene of them working well together then flipped on it’s head where now they are fighting against each other and no one is the clear winner because they know each other. They know what the other is going to do next. And for the even sadder punch, you could totally have one of them use a move that they initially did to protect the other in the previous to try and hurt them in this one.

For sure, it may be more interesting for their split to be in a word exchange, but we know they will end up fighting each other at some point and I wanna see the proto fight in their initial split. In which neither are going for killing blows now, but later oh later it becomes all too real.

Because the worst part about facing a friend is that they know you as well as you know them.
