➤taehyun x reader, hogwarts!au, besties!au
↳Prompt 7: “What’s our exit strategy?” “Our what?” “Oh my god, we’re all going to die.”
requested?: yes
word count: 1,020
warnings: swearing, perilous situations, talks of claustrophobia but no actual claustrophobic conditions, I did not proof read or edit
A/N: Hi, college is hard and so is being an adult. I know I haven’t been active here lately but I miss y'all and I am in the mood to write something that won’t be graded so here I am :) feel free to continue sending me requests as I’m feeling more and more inclined to get back into writing!
•:•.•:•.•:•:•:•:•:•:•:•☾☼☽•:•.•:•.•:•:•:•:•:•:•:••:•.•
A long groan sounded from the stones above your head, the unmistakable clang of something giving way ripping into your eardrums. Your feet stutter on their own; threatening to make you trip over the moss-slick cobblestones you’re treading on so lightly.
In the darkness you feel even more disoriented, unable to use the feeble light from your wand to see all the way up to the ceiling. “Taehyun!” He doesn’t answer and you’re almost sure that your whisper-shout got eaten up by the oppressing silence between you. If it weren’t for the yellow-white glow of his own wand, you would think he had abandoned you here as some kind of sick joke.
Soobin had led you to this fate, bragging about how he found a secret corridor that lead him right into the grassy courtyard: a perfect spot for stargazing outside of the oppression of astronomy class. Taehyun, always the spontaneous of the two of you, had talked about it for days until you finally cracked and admitted to meet him at midnight to go check it out.
“I’m right here.” He finally answers and his voice brings a welcome wave of calm, ebbing into the heated anxiety thrumming at the back of your skull.
“Something is breaking-” a loud groan, like the sound of a giant heaving itself up from the floor, has you gluing your body into his. You can feel the heave of his shoulders, the shake he’s trying so hard to contain as you weigh your options. In all his glamor about the corridor, Soobin had failed to mention that in order to actually get out into the courtyard there was a complicated looking puzzle that neither you or Taehyun could decipher after several minutes of trying.
“I’ve got a feeling this place isn’t as stable as Soobin thought it to be.” He frowned in the dim light of your wands as he regarded the puzzle door once more; leaning closer as if it would whisper its secrets to him.“I bet one of his other friends gave him some kind of key or a guide. Would have been nice of him to share.”
“Surely. Let’s go.” You tug at the sleeve of his hoodie, hoping that seeing his feet move will convince your own to do the same. “Before the ceiling caves in, please?” The structure in question is groaning consistently now, and it sounds as if a section of the dirt-rock mixture was about to break free. “Seriously, Taehyun. We can’t see the ceiling and if that falls on us, our next order of business will be figuring out who we want to haunt. Please, let’s go!”
“But if it falls after we leave the corridor we won’t ever be able to use it again!” Taehyun damn near stomps his foot at the idea of leaving and your mind whirls with anger.  “I don’t give a damn! When you die down here I’ll tell your mother you left all of your expensive sweaters to me!” You had long abandoned your quiet voice, losing grip on yourself as fear unfurls in your stomach. With the small pool of light ahead of you, you catch a glimpse of specks of dirt falling toward the floor in a steady stream.
“I think I can figure out the puzzle.” Taehyun’s cheery voice fills the underground space as your hands begin to shake. “It looks kind of like something I studied for an exam but we weren’t tested on...I must have picked it up from a random Divination textbook...” The specks of dirt continue their graceful arc to the floor.
“Merlin, what’s our exit strategy?” You blurt, no longer able to disguise the wavering of your voice.
“Our what?” He responds, sounding miles away as your heartbeat quickens in your ears.
“We’re both going to die!” A scarily sized chunk of dirt and rocks falls from the ceiling as soon as the words leave your mouth and for once you think that maybe manifestation has some truth behind it. If that was the case, you were well and truly fucked. Taehyun grunts behind you as a group of rocks fall and scatter, one sliding mere inches away from your booted feet. There was surely a hole in the top of the corridor now but you were afraid to look, afraid to conceptualize the danger you were likely in. A metallic click and something like a ball rolling down a ramp sounded, directly followed by the satisfying pressure of a door popping open. Moonlight floods the corridor just enough to see the outline of Taehyun’s body as he lunges toward you, yanking at the first section of your clothes that he can reach and hauling you out into the courtyard.
Fresh, sweet air swirls around you, cooling your heated cheeks and banishing the sweat on the nape of your neck. For a moment you glance at Taehyun’s moon drenched form, the look of relief as his face slackens and the door stands open. You revel in the moment of peace, ready to turn away from the small horror of the crumbling corridor when it all finally gives way- a colossal crack and the slamming of rock into cement that has you reeling.  Dust billows from the door as the entire thing collapses. You and Taehyun stand in stunned silence, and part of you feels like you may be dreaming until he hooks his arm around your neck and hurries the pair of you behind the cover of some bushes just before a gaggle of professors comes busting out of the castle.
Your heart stills in your chest as you watch them investigate, but Taehyun is giggling. You send him a look that could kill as he holds his hand over his mouth and tears wet the corners of his eyes. “Fuck, sorry- I just never pegged our Professor for the unicorn-pajamas type.” You have no choice but to laugh along with him, mind reeling at the turn of events as you fall back to rest in the cooled grass.
“Hey, Soobin was right. This is a good stargazing spot.”

mha date headcanons- boys and girls :))
♡ request: “i love ur blog already, ur writing is so good!!! im so excited to see the content u’ll be posting !! :D since ur taking requests, how abt some date headcanons for the mha boys (or girls if u want!) ?” - @dianangels
♡ thank you for letting me write girls aaa i chose to do some as first date hc. it was kinda hard to keep jirou’s gn because i wanted to reference wlw stereotypes but i succeeded in gender-neutral because i want everyone to be able to enjoy
♡ dedicating part of this to @anxious-botanist because she’s the one who inspired the momo cuddles hehe sorry it took so long
♡ fic details: headcanons, fluff, gender-neutral reader, 2nd pov
characters: kaminari, amajiki, jirou, ashido, yaoyorozu
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kaminari- arcade
↠AR C ADE   DA T  E
↠you hear me??? arcade!! date!! ideal man, right here, someone claim him immediately or else i will be forced to take ownership
↠he’s super laid back and chill, pretty childish at heart. he only means the best, though, so i think an arcade is exactly what he would go for when taking you on a date! he doesn’t have a lot of money but still wants you to go home with something to remember the date by
↠he buys like $50 worth of tokens and splits it between the two of you, making sure that he tells you which games give the most tickets, because he’s definitely been here enough times to remember
↠his favorite game is either crossy roads or the big bass wheel- he loves crossy roads because of how cute the style is, but also there is impending stress and levels of  d o o m  as you progress further. big bass wheel is basically just gambling, and i think he’s yumeko jabami.
↠he hacks games to make you win sometimes,, his quirk is bascially designed to do this. it’s like he was born just to take you out on this arcade date. he uses his quirk to short circuit the game and trick the computer into giving you hundreds of tickets
↠he just wants to make you happy and see you smile!! there’s not a feeling quite like succeeding at something as silly as an arcade game, but there’s a certain pride to it that he loves seeing on your face.
↠kaminari only does it a few times, since he knows that you should be earning your prizes ((not that you know when he does it, he’s really cheeky about it))
↠playyyy multiplayers with him! he loves DDR (dance dance revolution)- you do multiple rounds and are equally exhausted by the end of it akdflad you may not be good, and tbh neither is denki, but you still have fun, which is what matters
↠he also loves taking photobooth pictures, he puts on the most horrendous filters and does the dumbest poses, but it’s so adorable. he does the typical one smile, one “serious”, one silly face, one kith > <
↠kami gets cocky,,, it’s just how he is,, he gets overly confident whether or not he’s been on a winstreak
“heyy, y/n! look at my speedrun on this, i’m getting so many tickets, i’ll be able to get a house by the end of it!”
↠and then he CAN’T because he doesn’t get the jackpot eghgdhgeh
↠by the end of the day, you’ve spent hours at the arcade, laughing and screaming with denki as you terrorize the small children. yes, he’s that kind of guy
↠by “terrorize”, i don’t mean like a bully, but he’s unintentionally intimidating kids with his pockets overflowing with ticket chains, a crazed look on his face as he goes absolutely ham on the shooting games
↠there’s electricity coming off of him, kids sometimes have to dodge it when passing by
↠so anyways, by the end of the date, you’re basically being kicked out of the arcade, because, as kami puts it,
“we were here when it opened and i’ll be damned if we’re not here when it closes,”
↠between the two of you, you’ve aquired tens of thousands of tickets??? the employees probably hate y’all, they had to count those beasts of ticket rolls you’ve accumulated during the 10 hours the arcade was open
↠exactly 62,069 tickets (69 go brrr- kaminari’s brain), and you can basically buy the arcade with that currency
↠but here’s the thing: he lets you spend all of it. you heard me, all. of. it. he just wants to see you happy, and the best way he can think of to get a final glorious memory of your smile is to let you spend the tickets as you see fit, this generosity just to see you glowing as you walk out of the building, arms chock full of amazing junk
↠but of course, you’d feel bad if you spent all of it, especially since he was the one who took you out, so you offered him the half of the tickets that were won
“denki, you won most of these with your amAzINg gaming skills, it’s only fair you get to have something too,”
“my prize will be seeing you- your- your-- aw fuck, i forgot the line, it’ll come back to me, just give me a minute.”
↠he tried to be smooth and it failed, but you chuckled at the attempt, so all around, he considered it a success
↠denki gets a lot of dumb things that will probably end up being thrown away soon, but he also gets you a very soft bat stuffed animal that you should treasure and keep forever
Tumblr media
amajiki- a walk and picnic in a japanese garden
↠tamaki is very shy, very socially anxious. he’s the kind to wait for people to leave a section of a store before he goes there, purposely do his errands in the early morning to limit social interaction, and find any excuse to leave a situation. which, tbh, isn’t that all of us?
↠let’s be honest here, if it wasn’t y’alls first date, he’d probably not go anywhere. as long as he’s with you, he doesn’t really care for anything too fancy
↠but he’s convinced himself that he needs to do something reasonably big for your first date to make sure you don’t regret your decision to go out with him. so instead of deciding to stay in, he goes somewhere that’s only slightly anxious for him, but where he still feels comfortable
↠so he’s decided on a japanese tsukiyama garden! these places are beautiful by design, not cheap but not too expensive, and people are obligated by rules to be quiet and keep their hands to themselves
↠nobody goes to a garden to socialize, in fact, i’d argue most people go just to look around, rest, and clear their heads. there’s usually not any screaming children, no quirk usage, no villains, it’s a little safe haven.
↠bonus: there’s butterflies :))
↠it’s so peaceful, and he gets to focus on you instead of whatever loud noise is making him anxious
↠he brings a picnic basket filled with all your favorite foods, and his! he makes a show out of displaying what he can manifest with different snacks, making a point to eat edible seeds so he can produce flowers for you 🥺🥺🥺
↠you walk around the garden for a few hours, marveling at the decor and how well-maintained everything is. there’s a koi pond, hanging wisteria trees, and multiple gazebos that create a really comfortable and calm environment
↠speaking of koi ponds, amajiki offers to buy you food so you can feed the fish! you stand on a bridge above the pond, sharing the container with him. the sMILE on his face when he watches you throw the food is so pure i’m-
↠he’s the walking embodiment of “uwu”- his face is so calm and his eyes are shining and he can feel his heart swelling with love i am GOING to cry my eyes out
↠but honestly, he wishes he could stay in this moment forever- you’re happy, he’s happy, and it feels like you two are the only people in the universe. right now, he doesn’t have to worry about school, villain attacks, his future, or anything that makes him anxious; all that he can see right now is how beautiful and at peace you look. he took you out today, and you’re enjoying yourself. this is one of the few things that makes him confident: knowing that he’s able to make you happy
↠tamaki is silently celebrating; you’ve had a good time and he didn’t freak out, so it’s the best possible scenario!
Tumblr media
ashido- rollerskating! ((look at her she’s adorable the smile n the eyes aaa))
↠mina is a very energetic and bubbly person, its quite obvious if you’ve spent any amount of time around her
↠for your first date with her, she’d already have a location in mind!!
↠the atmosphere of rollerskating rinks is so electric, she can’t help but feel happy there, and she wants to experience that lovely feeling with you, too :))
↠you enter the rink, and mina is already borderline bouncing off the walls alskdfj
↠whether or not you’ve ever skated before, ashido is super cautious with you- multiple times she’s fallen on her butt while learning how to skate, so unless you’re a pro, she’s watching your every move to make sure you don’t get hurt
“y/n! please be careful- you’re not getting hurt on my watch!”
↠she jabs a thumb in her direction proudly, with the cutest bigass grin on her face awh 🥺🥺🥺she’s really enthusiastic about sharing one of her passions with you
“try to balance, alright? don’t put too much weight on your heel or toes, because then you’ll fall on your butt. here, take my hand and i’ll help you! hey, there you go, you’re doing great!”
↠she pays for everything and will WRESTLE you if you try to disagree aldkfa if you’re the type of person to pay for everything as well, y’all are going to have to fight; mina will not give up
↠ashido comes here a lot, so she’s friendly with all the employees, she has the uncanny ability to make friends wherever she goes ((i mean she’s friends with bakugou,, if she can do that,, she can do anything))
↠she takes one of your hands and backs onto the rink, watching for anyone behind her. once you’re balanced properly, she shows you how to move your feet so that the two of you are in sync
↠skating isn’t super hard to figure out, it’s mostly intuitive, so you’ll get the hang of it quite quickly!! maybe you’re not too fast, but it’s still fun, so it doesn’t matter
↠while you’re moving with care, making sure to focus on your footwork, mina will definitely take the chance to show off her skating skills! she’s moving like crazy, weaving around other people and nearly toppling them over but shh she’s trying to impress you and if i’m being honest??? she’s really fucking good aldkdf
↠it’s obvious that she loves this hobby, and the fact that she likes you enough to share it with you on your first date is so adorable aaaa
↠mina’s really agile- you don’t know if that’s all the hero training or just something that comes naturally, but the way she moves makes skating look like the easiest goddamn thing in the world-
↠she’s such a romantic, she’s definitely put in a request for the dj to play your favorite song, no matter if it fits the mood or not
↠heavy rock? sure!! as long as you’re having fun, who cares about what other people think? super vulgar rap?? w h y  n o t ? !
↠she just has that extroverted, positive, charming energy that’s infectious
↠you can’t help but feel at ease around her, she’s a genuinely a great person, and what you think the epitome of a hero is
↠all ashido really wants here is to have fun with you- i mean she really likes you, and hopes that she’ll get to go on another date w/ you, so she’s doing everything in her power to woo u
↠and you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t working 🥺👉👈
Tumblr media
jirou- hanging out in her room
↠kyouka jirou, being the more introverted person she is, wouldn’t really want to go somewhere super public, like mina would
↠i also believe that she’d want to be friends (or at least acquaintances) with you before asking you on a date- she’s easily annoyed by people, so i think that she’d need to be comfortable around you if she was to be romantically interested
↠and you’ve ticked all these boxes! you understand her sarcastic, blunt personality, and find it pretty amusing. beyond all that, she’s kind and caring, and deep down, she aspires to be a hero for all the right reasons. who wouldn’t love her for that?
↠so for your first date with kyouka, i think she’d want to be somewhere quiet and intimate with you. she wouldn’t want any interruptions ((specifically from jammingyay, who enjoys butting his head in other peoples’ business))
↠the most comfortable place for her would be her room, since it’s really just an extension of her personality, and since you’re quite close, she’d be okay with letting you in her private space. she trusts you.
↠just two guys bein dudes 🤠 ((if you’re a girl, it’s just sappho and her friend--))
↠music is one of the biggest things in jirou’s life, and i think she’d want to share it with you. that is, if you’d let her :)) she has dozens of different instruments, so if you want to attempt to learn something, she’d be totally down!!
↠please show her what kind of music you’re into! no matter what it is, she’ll listen to it. she wants to get to know what kind of person you are when you’re not around other people, and music is a great way to do that. even if you don’t have the same taste as her, she wouldn’t mind, since a) she’ll listen to pretty much anything, she’s not picky; and b) it’s something that you’re showing her, and that’s enough to make her happy
↠she’s not a very formal person, so i think she’d just want to talk to you and hang out. i’d think kyouka would be more of a fan of a gradual relationship, one that starts from friends and slowly evolves into more. and yes, as you can probably tell, i am a sucker for mutual pining and friends-to-lovers tropes-- im a simple hoe 😌
↠she’s super fun to hang out with!! her sense of humor is really snarky, she also enjoys talking shit about people she doesn’t like. if you’re not into that, she’s able to carry on conversation really well. there’s not a moment of awkward silence between you
↠jirou actually really likes talking shit about people hsahsh- as long as it’s someone that’s been mean in some way. she won’t say anything bad about someone who hasn’t done anything to deserve it. but if you’ve wronged her in some way, boy, do you have it COMING
↠by the end of it, i just know your cheeks hurt from laughing
↠she’s just a really fun person to be around, she may not be the most bubbly person ever, but she’s super easy-going and cool ((jirou bias incoming ekejke))
↠i do think she’d try to sneak some kind of affection if she thinks you’d reciprocate- if you’re really getting along well, she might snake her hand into yours when you’re sitting on the bed, laughing
↠honestly you might not even notice until she stops, because your hand feels empty and cold without her like your heart aa
↠if she’s really into you?? might get a smol peck on the cheek 👉👈 please try to get a smol peck on the cheek, it’s very cute and she gets so flustered
↠she goes up to you as you’re about to leave her room, grabs your shoulder, turns you around, and gives you an adorable if not slightly aggressive smooch
↠then she reFUSES to acknowledge what she just did akdfld- she turns away, beet red, and is completely silent
↠meanwhile you’re probably laughing your ass off because wow she’s so cute
↠kudos if you give one back to her, baby is on the verge of exploding ejkdjf
↠her heart just can’t handle what you’re doing to her
↠and despite what her appearance is, her heart is doing backflips- she’s whipped <33
Tumblr media
momo: tea and c u d d l e s
↠she’s a very fancy person, obviously. yaoyorozu wants only the best for everyone she loves, and that, of course, includes you! she loves showing affection through giving things to others. her family status only magnifies this aspect of her personality, as being born into wealth gives her the means to spoil you rotten
↠and even though she’s bougie as all hell, she also somehow maintains an elegant and simple air about her. it’s impressive, really. it’s not like she tries to flex her money, it’s just a part of her life, and she enjoys using her privilege well
↠that being said, what’s more elegant and mature than going for tea? it’s a lovely pastime that momo would love to include you in!
↠lowkey,, she’s a whole sugar momma dfkdjla im not even joking- she doesn’t try to be, but virtually everything she does shows how rich she is
↠you arrive at the tea room, and by god is it fancy. there’s multiple chandeliers suspended from the ceiling, which is decorated with classic renaissance-style paintings. all the tables are set with white cloth, plates made of pure fine china, flowers and woven baskets set everywhere to create a cottagecore-like setting. the air about it is so sophisticated, from the patrons (wait is that a celebrity-) to the decorations
↠your face is kinda just,,, 😮,, because what in the world did momo get you into??
“momo, you’re so sweet, and this place is lovely, but don’t you think this is a bit much? not that i don’t absolutely appreciate it, it’s just that this seems really expensive, and i don’t want you to have to spend that much for just one date.”
↠she just chuckles, saying that it was “really nothing” (???? MISS GIRL???)
“don’t worry, y/n, this isn’t too much! i want to have fun today, and this place is so nice! let’s just find a table, alright?”
↠like, hunney, you’re so kind, but this is a LOT
↠but if you say so....
↠she looks at you with the most enthusiastic, wholesome eyes, and soon you’re following her like a puppy towards your table. the waiter sits you down, and leaves, giving you a moment to glaze over the menu to find a drink
↠and there’s so many types of teas, at least 30 on this page alone. you hadn’t even heard of half of these drinks, how would you know if you’d like them?
↠yaomomo seemed to notice your puzzlement, and said that you could get a pot of something simple, like jasmine green or earl grey, and she would get something fancier that you could try. why not?
↠a few minutes later, you’ve already adjusted to the sophisticated and intimidating environment, focusing only on the girl across from you, and how her eyes glittered with happiness
↠she orders a few normal tea foods, like scones with jam, lemon curd, and devonshire cream, and finger sandwiches. the fanciest thing she buys, though, is a blooming tea that arrives in a clear pot. it has an open flower inside of it, which is what the tea is infused with. it’s nearly 16,100 yen for one pot, though, and while you protest its expense, momo reassures you that it’s no problem (you just learned not to say anything about money, as it wouldn’t stop yaoyorozu from spoiling you)
↠ngl, it’s so fun to pretend to be fancy for a few hours at a tea room !! you acted as if you were a member of high society, using stereotypes to exaggerate your actions. it made some people only slightly irritated, but hey, it got a laugh out of a pretty girl, so who’s the real winner?
↠yaomomo taught you some classy etiquette that you should definitely use, it makes her so happy to think that you’re learning about new things while still enjoying your time with her
↠she makes really good conversation!! her intellect seeps through everything she says, anyone who talks to her would be able to tell that she’s extremely well-spoken and mature. momo is modest, and deflects a lot of the compliments you try to give her, so if you try to display your admiration for her, you’d probably need to be very specific about it. she doesn’t have the best self-image when it comes to her heroism and field work. spoken affection sometimes doesn’t get through to her, but you know what does? physical affection!
↠she loves cuddles, and will regularly take you back to her house after a date to cuddle in her bed. her mattress is legendary, and it’s comfortable as hell. there’s an abundance of pillows and the bed isn’t too soft or too firm, and it’s always somehow an amazing temperature???? mattresses are investments, and this was definitely a good one
↠momo loves the intimacy and trust of holding you, it allows her to escape from overthinking and only focus on you, her beautiful partner. she doesn’t care if she’s the big or little spoon, but her favorite kind of cuddling is when you’re on your back and she’s curled into your side, head tucked under your chin and hand on your chest
↠she can do this for hours, please let her. she feels safe with you, confident, because you’re choosing to spend time with her in this quiet moment instead of being off somewhere else.
↠in conclusion,,, 💕women 💕

I Think I'm OKAY
genre: Angst, hurt comfort
length: two parter
warning(s): Feelings of abandonment, self-depreciating thoughts, suicidal thoughts (briefly), feelings of not being good enough, feelings of being unneeded and unloved
A/N: its just been a day guys. And Ive been think about this all day so I just wrote to get tge thoughs out of my head.
this takes place a few months after the epilogue of Everything Undesired where Azalea is still coming to grips with the fact that she's not her father's heir like she always thought she had been. Mammon and Arella really did try to make time for her but things just never worked out in their favor and it ended up giving their daughter abandonment issues.
She’s lost. Not physically but mentally- Azalea doesn’t know where to go or what her purpose is. Ever since her older brother returned from where ever the hell he’s been her whole life, she’s felt more alone than ever before. From her parents being busier than ever helping Cyrus readjust to life here in the Devildom to her twin brother being curious enough about their new older brother to spend all his time trying to get to know him, no one has time for Azalea any more.
Whenever she tries to reach out to either her parents or her brother she gets blown off. It’s always ‘I’m sorry, I couldn’t make it.’ or ‘I’m sorry, I forgot that was today.’ Forgot? How does one just forget about their child? And Azalea is sorry too. She’s sorry for existing. Maybe everyone is just tired of her. Maybe they didn’t need her anymore? After all, she was just her father’s back up plan. A back up plan. Yeah, it sounded as bad as it hurt- to think that’s the only reason he kept her around all this time. Despite how she might try, all she could ever do is fuck up. Why would her parents ever need a child like that?
She feels abandoned, unneeded. All she ever wanted was to make them proud- she pushed herself to maintain the perfect grades just for their praise. Hell, she’d even forced herself to take advanced placement and honors courses just for their approval but they hadn’t even noticed. And it’s not like she hadn’t tried to show them. The last report card she got in her last year of middle school had a note attached to it stating that when she entered RAD, she’d be welcomed into the advanced courses but of course they had been too busy to even look. Both of her parents assumed nothing had changed so they just didn’t need to see something they had seen hundreds of times already.
Why did they stop loving me? The half-demon thinks to herself, Was it all the fights? Was I not good enough for them? I wish I could make them happy the way my brothers do. I wish I was perfect like them, maybe then they wouldn’t have forgotten about me. Maybe I would still belong. What did I do wrong? Azalea can feel the tears dripping down her face. I’m crying? Again? Pathetic. People like me don’t cry.
She hurriedly wipes them away as she looks up at the stars that dot the night sky of the Devildom. She’s pretty high up on a rooftop. She wonders if a fall from this height might kill her or would it just leave her badly injured- the idea’s tempting. She’d come up here to clear her mind and sort out her feelings with how things had changed- how everything she thought she was meant to be had been ripped away from her, but it had just made things worse. She thought she was okay with all this change but after trying for months to find something new to do with the rest of forever, she found out the only thing she was ever any good at was getting into fights. Sure, she’d taken up sports on her uncle Beel’s suggestion but that led to even more pain when time after time, neither of her parents could be bothered show up.
Her phone lights up with a text from her father.
Dad:
Why weren’t ya at dinner today?
Azalea:
Why weren’t you and Mum at my meet today? Ya know like you promised ya would be?
Dad:
‘Zay c’mon don’t be like that. We said we were sorry but something important came up and we couldn’t make it
Azalea:
Sure whatever you say old man
Its what you always say
It's always something more important ain’t it?
Something more important than me.
Dad:
Azalea
Azalea:
Shove it old man. I don’t wanna hear it right now.
She always gets the short end of the stick. For parents that claim they care about her, they sure had a shitty way of showing it. As the family’s resident trouble maker, she’s not good enough for them. Whatever, she doesn’t even need them anyway. She deserves better than a family that doesn’t care. A family she no longer has a place in. And that was fine by her. Now that she’d finally admitted it to herself, she found it would be easier to ignore her entire family and live life depending on only herself.
With a shuddering huff, the girl shuts her D.D.D off and shoves it in her jacket pocket. She leaves the roof top, still in tears headed for the House of Lamentation.
------------------------------------------------------
“Arella, I have to go and find our daughter.” Mammon sighs as he gets his jacket on.
“She’s still upset about the track meet, isn’t she?” The black-haired human frowns “If you’ll give me a moment, I can ask Aurelius if he’ll watch Mahlon and I’ll go with you. This is something we should address together.”
“I don’t think we got the time to waste, Hon. She stopped respondin’ ta my texts and isn’t answerin’ her phone. If I don’t go now, she might so something to herself. I’ll be able to cover more ground quicker if I fly since she could be anywhere- even up high where we wouldn’t be able to see her that easily.”
“Then go on, I’ll talk to her when she gets home.” Arella nods as her husband leaves.
------------------------------------------------------
She enters her room through the garage door entrance. She really didn’t need to considering Azalea was the only one home currently. She knew Aurelius and Zulima would be gone for the rest of the weekend but still she locked her door to prevent any unwanted visitors- mainly her parents as she knew they’d probably come looking for her after the message she’d sent to her father earlier.
She looked over at the stack of unopened akuzon boxes- all gifts sent to her by her parents as ‘apologies’ for various things. Yeah sure, gifts were nice when they were for things like birthdays or Christmas but not when they were used as a way to placate her feelings when her parents missed things like track meets or science fairs or school functions that they promised they would be there for. It felt like a shallow apology so Azalea never opened any of them. They were starting to collect dust now.
Just because greed is her sin doesn’t mean its satisfied by material objects alone. There was more to it than that. Her sin specifically manifests with being greedy for healthy interpersonal relationships- things like money or material objects only did the bare minimum to help keep it under control and satisfied. She wanted her parents’ attention and only that so when they failed to keep their promises, it hurts her deeper than either of them understands- Azalea doesn’t even have the words to describe how it hurts her.
As she plops down on her sectional and flips on the projection of stars and constellations from the human world to calm herself down, she thinks about the way her greed is eating her alive as she turns on some music- a song her friend from the human world showed her called ‘I Think I’m Okay’. It was a song she really related to for some reason. As the song plays on loop, she thinks about how when she was younger- before her youngest brother was born- she was always of healthy weight and body condition. Nowadays with the lack of ability to satisfy her sin, she was just skin and bone. Despite eating constantly, she always feels like she’s starving and she’d be lucky if she weighed in at 90 pounds soaking wet- all of it coming from the weight of her bones and muscle. Her body is just burning through everything too fast and at this point Azalea doesn’t know whether or not she even has the energy to waste to transform into her demon form anymore.
The half-demon hears a faint knock at the door. Maybe if she doesn’t answer then whoever it is will get the hint and go away. As she watches the door open, a scowl appears on her face. Of course her father would pick the lock on her door. She doesn’t know why she’s even surprised right now. He never knows when to leave well enough alone.
“We need to talk...” Mammon says as he sits down on the couch next to her.
“I don’t wanna. Get lost.” the teenager rolls on to her side away from her father.
“Too bad. I’m not leavin’ until we do.”
“Then prepare ta die in here cuz I refuse.” She can’t let him fool her into accepting his apology when she knows full well he doesn’t mean it.
“You really are just like your ma sometimes- stubborn as all get out.” He sighs. “I see ya never opened yer packages. Why?”
She continued to ignore him. How can she get out of this? Maybe if she closed her eyes, she could fool him into thinking she was asleep.
Just get frustrated and leave already. It’s what ya always do when I won’t talk to ya.
She waits an hour, two, three but still he doesn’t leave.
Man is this getting annoying! Why won’t he just give up and go home already?
“Well, since ya won’t talk, I will. Ya know, Mom and I really are sorry we couldn’t be there this afternoon... I know you’re upset about it but we got called to an emergency meeting at the castle and we... kinda... forgot what time it was by time we were done.  I know we don’t have a lot of time to spend with ya anymore but things are just so crazy right now... it’s difficult and when ya act like a brat like this it doesn’t make things any easier.” And Mammon realizes too late that he’s said the wrong thing and put his foot in his mouth.
“Right... cuz that’s all I am is a spoiled brat...” Azalea can’t help the way her voice quakes. “I’m a brat because I asked for you and mum to pay attention to me over the boys just this once and you two let me down and now, I’m getting blamed for being as upset as I am. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.”
“Azalea, that’s not what I meant and you know that,” Mammon places his hand on her shoulder to turn her over and is shocked when all he feels is bone and muscles that are beginning to atrophy. “What are you doing to yourself? Yer nothin’ but skin an’ bone, Baby.”
“I’M NOT THE ONE WHOSE DOING THIS TO ME!” she roars as she hops up from the couch. “ITS YOU TWO. YOU’RE THE ONES DOING THIS TO ME!” and then her voice suddenly drops. “But you would notice that if you spent more than five seconds with me. My greed is eating me alive and it’s your fault. I’ve tried for months to get you or Mum to spend time with me and I get forgotten about every time because something ‘more important’ comes up or you also make plans with Aurelius or Cyrus and choose to do that over spending time with me. It’s either that or you both choose Mahlon over me and it’s literally killing me. I get that they all need you guys too and I’m not more important than them but it feels like they’re more important to you than me. And I hate it because...” She lets out a sob as she sinks to her knees, “Because you two are the most important people to me.”
Mammon looks at his daughter with a horrified look on his face. His only daughter feels like she’s not important to them but she was right in a way. Both he and Arella had been choosing her brothers over her- not intentionally but he can see why she would come to that conclusion. This was a very crucial time in her life having had everything she thought she was taken away and she was lost with no clue where to go. He and her mother should have been right by her side, helping her find a new path in life this whole time but instead they got so wrapped up in work and other things that now their daughter was suffering the consequences.
“No, baby that’s not true.” The demon says as he wraps his little girl up in his arms. “You are so important to us too.” He rubs her back as he rocks her back and forth, “We love you so much and I’m so sorry we haven’t made ya feel like that. We’re gonna do better from now on. I promise, okay?”
Azalea is hesitant to nod. How many times had she heard the word promise and then had that promise broken but even now as she’s wrapped up in her father’s arms, she’s starting to feel the overwhelming weight of her sin slowly start to go away. She just rests her head against his chest as her puffy teary blue to gold eyes start to slip closed ever so slowly.
“Sweet dreams, Princess.” He says as he runs he hand through her hair and places a kiss to the top of her head.

     ↪︎ O2. I CHOOSE YOU
masterlist | prev. | next
a/n: i absolutely hated rewriting this chapter after it glitched out the first time 😔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
since the beginning of your first year of university, you and the rest of your lovely friends had been eating in the library, specifically the large round table secluded and at the very corner for every meal without fail, and nobody really cared to stop you guys for two reasons. For one, no one really goes into that corner of the library that only collected dust, and two, you guys were there so often that you all befriended all the librarians to the point they stopped coming by to tell you guys to leave and eat in the canteen instead.
you were placed between daichi and kiyoko, counting the seconds by as they worked diligently in silence, munching on their lunch in the process. daichi tapped on the keys on his laptop rather quickly, the impact of each click being unnecessarily loud while kiyoko was cross-referencing documents and highlighting lines of never ending texts in a nice muted green color. tsukishima, on the other hand, was too preoccupied reading his book. eyes completely glued to the novel resting in his hands as he readjusted his glasses higher on the bridge of his nose. sugawara was out and about somewhere in the sea of towering bookshelves to find a book to read, mentioning something along the lines of—and you quote, ‘something to quench his thirst for entertainment.’
it was honestly just his fancy way of saying that he was bored out of his goddamn mind. perhaps you were the same, eyes wandering your surroundings for something, just something to capture your attention for a few moments. it wasn’t at all difficult, actually, considering how pretty your university was.
higashi university had always been your dream college. not just by its blatant aestheticism, but the academia as well. with tanaka and nishinoya being your main friend group during your high school days, it feels rather refreshing being surrounded by other incredibly smart individuals than constant brain rot.
(no offense to tanaka and nishinoya, you loved them to pieces)
and as your mind began to wander, so did your gaze. from admiring the library’s interior to looking out the window, your lips slightly curved down into a frown.
it was only noon and the clouds were already darkening the sun’s piercing rays that usually shone through the large domed windows of the library. it was going to rain soon and for a couple hours as well.
it’s quite peculiar to think about now after you received that damned chain letter. earlier this morning, while shoving on your wool sweater and trousers, that even the weather app on your phone didn’t show any signs of inclement weather until an hour after you texted your group chat in an awkward panic.
you didn’t really pine yourself to be so superstitious. if anything, you were the complete opposite, and yet, here you were worrying over the sound of rumbling thunder in the distance.
tsukishima lifted his gaze from the words printed on his novel as he pushed his glasses higher up on the bridge of his nose. he flickered a look at you, a smirk appearing on his visage the moment he noticed the way you stared at a single drop of rain on the window, flowing down rather slowly.
that stupid letter of yours was still in your hand as well. he watched you fiddle with the corners, careful not to mess with the mahogany red wax stamp that sealed the envelope.
“have you thought about which poor, unfortunate soul you’re going to give it to?” he asked, smirk still annoyingly evident. this was the third time he asked you this question in a span of three hours.
you flicked your eyes towards him coolly before it fell onto the letter in your hands. "ask that question again and i’ll be sure to send it your way, tsukishima.”
“i’d like to see you try, honestly.” he muses, “your best bet is probably slipping it into one of your professor’s inboxes. maybe professor oshiro, by chance?”
“please,” you snort, “she only gave me one failing grade that i eventually made up in the end.”
“just give it to a random stranger,” daichi cuts in, eyes still glued to his laptop as he typed his fingers away. dark circles dusting his eyes like a dark shadow. law school was certainly doing its works on the likes of poor, poor sawamura daichi.
he shrugs, evidentially fatigued when he meets your eye.
“that way your grades won’t have to potentially deal with the consequences if your professor finds out.”
you nod, humming in response. that would be terrible.
sugawara then emerges from the maze of bookshelves, holding up a book towards you with a smile on his face. “found one,” he beams, tossing it atop the messy table.
you reach for the book as sugawara pulls out his chair whilst he mutters something to his daichi about his whereabouts.
“wuthering heights?” you say the title aloud and capture kiyoko’s attention along with it.
“yeah. have you guys read it?” the silver-haired boy asks. he takes your opinions quite seriously knowing how much of an avid reader you and kiyoko were. whenever he needed book recommendations or opinions, he would always go to you two.
you nod, “i quite liked it.”
“some parts tend to be slow, though.” adds in kiyoko, taking the novel from your hands and flipping through the pages briefly before slipping back over towards sugawara. “it should keep you occupied for a few days.”
you chuckle slightly, giving her a look. “you forget how slow suga is at reading. the few days it takes us to finish a book is a good month for him.”
offense coated sugawara’s expression as he lets out a scoff in retaliation. “don’t you have a chain letter to give to someone?”
“she’s stalling,” tsukishima teases.
“am not!”
“then want to go give it to a random stranger then?”
your brows draw together, “right now?”
tsukishima nods as he stuffs his belongings back into his bag. “i’ll come with you for shits and giggles.”
a sigh escapes you, rolling your eyes as you take a look at the letter one last time and wanting to laugh at yourself for doing all this. a full chain letter from front to back, with the first quarter of it is you viciously apologizing that you had to do this in neat cursive handwriting, all written in fifteen minutes.
you gave in.
“fine,” you huff as you grab your own bag as well.
“good luck,” kiyoko muses up at you as you squeeze past her.
tsukishima waits for you until you’re by his side, strides shorter than usual just to match your pace as you two navigate through the labyrinthine arrays of bookshelves. the letter was in your hand, all small and discrete for a quick and easy delivery to an unsuspecting victim. your palm perspired slightly as you kept your eyes open, scanning for an easy person as you were aware of the possible repercussions.
you could easily get in trouble for doing something this childish, but you were in too deep already.
“hurry up and find someone, we’re almost at the entrance already.” tsukishima hisses in a harsh whisper.
“i’m working on it!” you hiss back.
“working on what?” a familiar voice asks then, capturing both you and tsukishima’s attention, whipping your heads towards the owner.
kuroo combed his freehand through his hair while he had two textbooks tucked under his other arm. he gave you a smile.
you never really got close with kuroo despite meeting him at nationals a few years back. despite only talking a few times due to him being good friends with tsukishima, you knew he was nice, incredibly smart in the sciences, and yet oddly awkward for someone as good looking as he.
not him, you thought to yourself, too nice.
“a little project,” the blond immediately answers just like that. “our majors tend to overlap sometimes, so we decided to partner up.”
“nice, i’m here with my friends to study as well.” kuroo states, causing your eyes to scan behind them for any evidence of their rambunctious selves.
like kuroo, you weren’t close with any of them either. if anything, they were just mere acquaintances on the precipice of becoming strangers. regardless, they all seemed quite nice too from your lack of interaction with them.
tsukishima says something in response then, igniting a short little catch-up conversation with an old high school friend as you lay distracted. your eyes flicked down to a study table in front of you, one of the chairs just a foot shy from you had a satchel hanging off of its side. the brown leather flap was wide open with its owner nowhere in sight as you gave your surroundings a once over.
carefully, you made your way over the table, pretending as if you were taking something out of your bag as kuroo was being distracted by the blond. neither of them were looking at you fortunately. as you placed your bag back over your shoulder, you slipped the letter right into the open satchel right at the same time–the envelope falling and disappearing into the depths of the bag.
“i’ve got to get to my next lecture,” you say to the two men, giving tsukishima a sly wink that it was a job well done. “i’ll see you guys around.”
checkmate.
fun facts! —
after kiyoko graduated and moved to tokyo, (y/n) and kiyoko kept in touch by sending each other cute handwritten letters
no one really is aware of that area in the back of the library since no one goes in that section often (this is uhh,, an important detail for later 😳)

Don’t miss the Yule Ball.
Sirius was already battling with their post break-up situation. He hasn’t moved on, but maybe Remus has, after the Incident with Snape. He has been forgiven by all of the Marauders, but he still doesn’t feel like going to the Yule Ball because he loves dancing a little too much, and to watch Remus dancing with someone who isn’t him is something he won’t be able to cope. He rather he will stay in than go and deal with another heartbreak. However, Remus encourages him to go to the Yule Ball. Is he giving Sirius a chance to improve their ties?

Chapter 1
The distress was like a cold molten lava, spreading in Sirius’ chest to deepen the void that was already created inside of him. He could feel it. The hollowness around his heart, but simultaneously there was something heavy. Like a boulder, sitting at the top of his chest. There was exhaustion in his veins, plummeting his blood pressure that made him unlike the person he used to be: steady, hyperactive, and energetic. He didn’t know what he wanted, so he let life go through him. He thought he may never live, might as well survive because he was not ready to die yet. There was still hope. A newly aroused hope of getting his friends back in his life after the two and a half month of shutting out in consequential to the Incident with Severus Snape.
Three days ago, James and Peter had asked Sirius to come in the dorm when he had been sitting in the common room, literally, doing nothing but staring at the fire grates before him. All of the Marauders, including Remus, had gathered in the dorm awkwardly.
“Look, Sirius,” James had been the one to break the silence, and Sirius’ perplexity, “Whatever we have with you is just too real and close that—we cannot just see you being so…”
“Different.” Peter had said.
“Yes, different!” Sirius had never seen James so nervous, “And we know how sorry you are for what you did.” Sirius could distinctly recall that he had flinched at those words.
“So…” Remus had begun, not meeting Sirius’ eyes, “We would like to give you a chance.”
Sirius had expected himself to smile or laugh in happiness that finally his friends had decided to forgive him, but he didn’t—more like, he couldn’t. James and Peter had been staring at him with funny looks on their faces, while Remus had a tired look as if he had been forcefully asked to forgive him. Sirius didn’t even internally blame him for that, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t hurt.
“Thank you. You have no idea how much this all means to me.” Sirius had said. He knew that time was the only key to slip into normalcy, so he went with the flow.
This time of the year, Hogwarts was illuminating with more candles, and stardust in every corridor. The lavatory sections had more irises and lilies, and the Library was filled with color-changing lanterns hanging in the mid-air. All of this was because of the Triwizard Tournament was being held, and the awaited guests from other wizarding schools were welcomed to avail the chance of becoming the lucky participant in the Tournament. The students from Drumstrang, and Beauxbatons were roaming around the decorated Hogwarts.
“They should see the real face of Hogwarts, dull and old-fashioned. Not the flowery one. That’s called deception.” Marlene commented, making everyone snigger around her. She never failed to catch attention.
“That’s called hospitality, Marls. Try to be positive.” Dorcas flung her arm around her to pull her closer so she kissed her cheek. Sirius tried not to look because it painfully reminded him of his rock solid relationship with Remus Lupin, before it crashed brutally after one reckless mistake. He rubbed his eyes because he felt tried. Again. He was tired all the time, but he didn’t like being in bed in odd hours. It made him feel useless.
“So, that means I get to take you as my date for the Yule Ball?” Sirius’ ears stood alerted at Marlene’s muffled voice in the crowd.
Of course, the Yule Ball. He loved going to the balls, and waltzing with the music. If there was anything the Black family had taught and he had loved, were the dancing lessons. He had always imagined holding a certain someone close to him, and waltz with them peacefully. This was his secret. He had never displayed it. After he had realized that he had a crush on Remus, he had always pictured him in his dreams, slowly swaying through the soft music. His hand holding Remus’ while his other one on his waist, leading him. He had never enjoyed dancing with girls. They were too small and delicate to hold, except Marlene who was tall and broad.
The night befell, and everyone filed to their dormitories from the Great Hall after the dinner. Sirius was quietly walking with the Marauders, highly tensed because he was in pace with Remus who hadn’t utter a single word to him since the forgiveness. James was loudly speaking as usual, his arm around Peter’s shoulder, while craning his neck in every angle to find a certain fiery red head in the flood of students.
“Evans! You and me to the Yule Ball, how does that sounds?” He called out once he had spotted her.
“Nauseating.” She replied, causing an eruption of laughter from the sea of student around them.
“Oh come on! You won’t regret!” He continued his show of stupidity but suddenly Sirius’ hand brushed the neighboring one, accidently. He and Remus responded at the same time by flinching away their hands.
“Sorry.”
“Sorry.”
Remus was scarlet in the face, and Sirius felt liked he had touched something electric. He could still feel the burning on his fingers. They walked in their respectful distance, and Sirius started to feel the same process of hollowness in his chest. He was sad. Very sad. They were never supposed to be like this. He missed Remus, but it all seemed like he had lost him forever. Remus had forgiven him, but not by his heart. And it was nothing but heart-breaking. Sirius felt a strong surge of emotion as if he was going to have breakdown in the middle of the staircase. He held the railing of the stairs, widening the distance between him and Remus. Sirius stopped there to breathe out, hoping his friends wouldn’t notice. However, his friends were nor heedless neither heartless. Specifically, Remus wasn’t.
“Sirius? Are you okay?” Remus retreated from the crowd to stand beside him. Sirius felt heated up, and not because he had any rage reserved in the corners of his heart or mind.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine.” He tried to act nonchalant, “You go ahead. I just need a break from the walking.”
“No, it is okay, I’ll stay with you until you are good to go.” Remus’ voice was very soft, and Sirius wished that he never leave him, even as a friend. Remus was too precious to lose. Sirius stayed silent. He kept breathing in and out, until his heartbeat became normal. Suddenly, he realized that the staircase was changing with a thud, signifying that all of the students were vanished and gone to their dorms, leaving Remus and Sirius alone.
“How are you feeling?” Remus’ wide amber eyes looked into the dull grey ones, probably for the first time in a longest while. Sirius smiled at the question. How was he feeling? He was feeling sad, useless, pathetic, sick, disappointed, and hopeless and so much that wasn’t easy to name or comprehend.
“I’m feeling better now.” He answered instead.
“Well, looks like it going to be a long detour since the staircase is leading to the third floor. Four floors away.” Remus’ mouth quirked up in an uneasy smile. Sirius smiled back at him as they both began to climb the stairs.
There was silence hanging between them. Surprisingly, it wasn’t uncomfortable to Sirius because he had nothing to say which made his mind a little less chaotic. He had tried saying everything to Remus; the fact how much he regretted his mistake, how much sorry he felt, how much he valued his relationship with Remus, how much unconditionally he was in love with him. All explanations had gone into vain. He decided he had nothing to say.
“Here,” Sirius looked to his side to see that Remus was offering him a goblet of water.
“What is that?” He asked.
“Just water. You need it.” Sirius wanted to slap himself. Of course, he knew it was water, then why asked?
“Thanks.” He took the goblet from his hand. His finger brushed with his that sent tingling feelings to his body.
“So, what are you planning for day after tomorrow?” Remus asked sheepishly, smiling half-heartedly, trying to make a conversation.
“What is on day after tomorrow?”
There is sudden pause, and Sirius had to look at Remus who seemed slightly taken aback.
“I thought you knew,” He mumbled under his breath, “I meant—the Ball. The Yule Ball. Are you going?”
An ugly feeling suddenly jabbed him in the stomach.
“Oh—that. I forgot, to be honest.”
Remus chuckled awkwardly.
“But—umm…” Sirius hesitated, “No, I don’t think I’ll be going.”
“Oh.” Remus became silent then.
They were now on the fifth floor corridor, chasing the giant staircase to lead them to the seventh floor.
“Any particular reason?” Remus piped up, and Sirius felt his lung was lacking air.
“I don’t like dancing.” He lied. And SHIT! He lied to the wrong person. Remus stared at him for a little longer as if he was scanning him.
“You don’t like dancing.” Remus said than asked.
“I don’t like dancing.” Sirius repeated, hoping that saying it again and again would become a truth.
“You don’t like dancing.” Remus repeated too, under his breath but Sirius had heard him. He knew that Remus had spotted the lie, and now Sirius Black was surely labelled as a liar.
“What about you?” Sirius asked to erase the discomfort in the air. They were still chasing the staircase.
“Yeah, I think I will.” Remus replied. Sirius nodded, repressing his sad loneliness, but Remus continued, “I think you should go too. The ball is just not about dancing. You don’t have to dance, just have some fun.”
Sirius smiled at him because Remus’ voice is cheerful and encouraging. Maybe he could go. Maybe this was the chance to heal things in their relationship. Maybe Remus was giving him.
He kept thinking, quietly until they were on the seventh floor. The portrait of Gryffindor Tower was before them.
“Just think about it, you know,” Remus said gently, “Banana Fritters.”
The portrait door opened, and the common room was empty. They climbed to the dormitory when Remus slowed his pace to stop before the door.
“After everything, all of us deserve some fun,” Remus spoke tenderly again, his eyes softening and a hint of smile on his lips. Sirius returned the smile, but it was painful. He couldn’t get a word out of him. They stood there facing each other before Remus came close, and gathered him in his embrace.
Sirius felt like he became numb, all of a sudden. He was there, under Remus’ arms. Wide-eyed, his body paralyzed, and his blood racing abnormally. Trying to process how, where, why and what just happened.
Suddenly, hot tears obscured his vision before they began streaming endlessly. Sirius didn’t remember if he brought his hands up to hug him back but he was able to feel Remus tightening his embrace. He sobbed into his shoulder, and Remus let him. That was enough. It had never felt so comforting.

Are any of the new guys ok with being child free? (I keep having to explain to my fam how I'm NOT EVER going to have kids) And I'd like some solidarity from fictional skeletons.
Broadly speaking, I think all of them would be okay with that! In general, all the boys’ idea of the future is uncertain and something they need to work out with their s/o, so that informs the perspective a lot.
I truly don’t think ‘no kids’ or ‘yes kids’ would be an explicit deal-breaker for any of them, but in terms of where their thoughts naturally fall about the topic:
Pre-discussion/negotiation, it’s probably a no: Sky (Underswap Sans), Paps (Underswap Papyrus), Mal (Swapfell Sans), Rus (Swapfell Papyrus), Ash (Undergloom Sans), Brick (Horrorfell Sans), Merc (Horrorswap Sans), Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans)
Genuinely neutral or undecided: Sans (Undertale), Pyre (Underfell Papyrus), Papy (Horrortale Papyrus), King (Horrorfell Papyrus), Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus), Sunny (Gastertale Sans), Aster (Gastertale Papyrus)
Pre-discussion/negotiation, it’s probably a yes: Papyrus (Undertale), Jasper (Underfell Sans), Slate (Horrortale Sans), Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus), Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus)
But like I said... they’re flexible, because your relationship and the future they want to have with you doesn’t work without... well, you!
If you’re a ‘definitely no kids’ person and you see your skeleton in the ‘yes’ category, that doesn’t mean you’re doomed-- it just means a couple conversations about it to convey your thoughts...and depending on the level of gungho for having kids he is (most aren’t married to it), maybe agreeing to a compromise where you adopt an animal or two and be dog/cat/iguana/whatever-the-hell parents.
Same goes for a ‘yes i want kids’ person who sees their skeleton of choice in the ‘no’ section, that’s just where they are before talking it all out with you. Some time and a few conversations to understand where everybody’s coming from and how to move forward, they’re willing to negotiate.
Kids or no kids, neither is a deal-breaker, it’s all fine and you can work it out together!
Y’know what, while I’m at it, here’s just the basic thought processes of all of them, just to give a little peek into their skulls on the matter...
Sans (Undertale): Kids are fun, doesn’t have any particularly strong desire to have one of his own, but he raised his kid brother for awhile and he knows it’s something he can do, if it’s what you want.
Papyrus (Undertale): Kids are great and he’d be a great parent, he just knows it! You’d be a great parent, too! ...But if that’s not what you want to do, then that’s okay. There’s plenty of other great things for you to do together in life!
Sky (Underswap Sans): Kids are wonderful, but raising his little brother solo after their dad disappeared... That was hard and he definitely wasn’t ready for the responsibility. It was a humbling experience and he refuses to commit to having kids of his own until he’s sure it’s something he sincerely, passionately wants.
Paps (Underswap Papyrus): Feels awkward around kids, as a rule, and also kind of thinks of himself as a (mostly contained, at least) disaster of a skeleton. Is he ready for the responsibility of being in charge of a brand new being’s growth and development??? Not sure! Not sure at all!
Jasper (Underfell Sans): He likes kids alright... thinks about maybe having some of his own someday, the idea of a family is nice, in his head... but he definitely isn’t sure about the reality. Worries about if he’d be a good enough parent, or if his kids (if he were to have them) would resent him or just not like him. It’s a nice idea, but nothing’s set in stone for him.
Pyre (Underfell Papyrus): Honestly never thought about it. Part of him fully expected to die Underground in some battle or other, or excepting that, he wouldn’t find a partner who’d want to be with him long-term, much less long enough that he could make a family with them. He’s not...explicitly opposed to it, but he also hasn’t given it a lot of thought at all. He’ll need time to sort out his feelings, whatever his partner’s opinions on potential kids are.
Mal (Swapfell Sans): Terrified, petrified to have kids of his own. Being around them is...fine, but... He’s got a lot of issues tied up with his...parent... and having to be a pseudo-parent to his own brother at a very young age, it’s made him worry about repeating patterns and failing, hurting, damaging, or otherwise doing his own children a disservice, if he were to have them-- even as a grown and well-situated adult. If kids are something his partner really wants, they’ve got those insecurities to talk about with him for sure.
Rus (Swapfell Papyrus): He’s actually really good with kids, he relates to them well and always just talks to them like people, so of course they love him. But having his own... That, he’s not sure about. He’s definitely a little bit of a disaster, and still working on a lot of Adult Life Skills, and the thought of being in charge of a whole entire brand new person is more than a little scary. Not sure if he’s ready for that step--or if he’ll ever be!
Slate (Horrortale Sans): Loves kids, and loves the idea of a big family. He’s had more than enough death, life is very appealing to him and a full house honestly sounds wonderful. ...But he does have some memory issues, a dash of narcolepsy, and some hard, dissociative days that make him worry he might not be a very good parent. He’d do his best to do right by his kids if he ends up having them, of course he would, but if that’s just not in the cards for him, that wouldn’t be the end of the world. He’s the one who’d definitely want to bring in some furbabies if two-legged babies aren’t on the table, and he’d still be a very, very happy man!
Papy (Horrortale Papyrus): He likes kids, but doesn’t have many strong feelings on having his own. He’d be alright either way his partner wanted to go-- as long as the two of them are together and safe and happy, he’s got everything he needs.
Ash (Undergloom Sans): Kids are fun, but honestly...oof. He’s got a chronic fatigue thing going on and keeping up with a kid for more than an hour or two at a time... he’s not sure he could hack it. Maybe he could, but that’s really something to think about before just diving in, y’know?
Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): Very good with children! They’re so curious and bright and he loves that about them! He’s got a lot of nurturing, caretaker tendencies built right into his personality, so he’s a natural at looking after and corralling them. He’s easily flustered and moves slow in his romantic relationships, though, so there’s a long timeline before the ‘should we have kids’ talk is even on the table, plenty of chances to share thoughts and work out a gameplan, whether that’s yea or nay. If yea, wonderful! If nay, he’d probably be just as happy babysitting friends’ kids and being Cool Uncle Papyrus as having any of his own.
Brick (Horrorfell Sans): It’s... a nice thought. But he definitely doesn’t trust himself enough to feel totally comfortable having kids of his own. He barely trusts himself in Polite Society some days, and he’d just be too worried about not being in control and hurting or scaring a little one, especially a little one of his own. He doesn’t think he’d ever be able to forgive himself if he made his own kid afraid of him. Plus memory issues, nightmares, (depending on his fluency at the time) a language barrier... So ‘no kids’ is...probably preferable, but if it’s something you really want... maybe start with an animal or two first? The ol’ practice-baby pet, see how it goes kinda deal, and move forward from there.
King (Horrorfell Papyrus): Like his counterpart, never really thought about it much...but when he does, he decides he could go either way on it. If you’re not interested in kids, fine, that’s more time for just the two of you. If you are, well... he was literally a monarch that ruled over all of monsterkind, for a time--surely, he could manage to be a passingly decent parent, with you as his partner in the endeavor. He’ll take his cues from you as to whether it’s a yes or a no.
Merc (Horrorswap Sans): His feelings haven’t really changed from pre-Famine. In fact, he’s probably more hesitant now, after so viscerally confronting the consequences of his own hasty decisions and having to face his own fallibility the way he did. The thought of being responsible for a whole small life is very nerve-wracking--especially if said proposed life is to be biologically his, because he really doesn’t know what the DT in his system (pre or post-integration) will pass on to theoretical next-of-kin, if anything at all. Maybe not a ‘never,’ but not a vigorous, enthusiastic ‘yes’ either, lots to think about...and maybe tests to run...
Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): A couple years ago, he’d have been a little more in the ‘no’ camp, but now... He’s been through a lot. He’s struggling sometimes still, at least emotionally, but he made it, so y’know... maybe he’s capable of handling more than he thought he was. Still not a solid ‘yes’--he’s aware of his lack of filter and its tendency to cause hurt feelings, and he does like his peace and quiet, which kids are very much not conducive to, as a rule, so he’d have to put in some work and make some sacrifices-- but he’s no longer wholly a ‘no’ either. Depending on your own thoughts, there’s plenty of room to negotiate.
Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans): Kids are fine, he can handle them well enough, and even the thought of having his own doesn’t stress him out so much as it once did--he’s changed a lot, and been through a lot, taking a second crack at parenthood from a new perspective wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world--but he’s also not particularly interested in it. He likes his leisure time and his luxuries, and much as he’s sure he could find room in that to accommodate a child...he doesn’t see much of a reason to. He could be convinced, if it’s something that you really want, but he’d also stay childfree without a second thought to the matter.
Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): Good with kids, like his counterpart, but also a little more capable and confident in himself and his ability to get things done. So... having a kid might be a little intimidating for him, but he generally feels like he could probably figure it out... and a kid might be a nice outlet for some of his caretaking urges, and extra motivation to keep fighting his phobia, to make sure their childhood is good and doesn’t suffer from them having a dad who’s scared to go outside. He definitely likes the idea of someone to look after and to be better for, but if that’s not for you, he wouldn’t force the issue. Would maybe want a furbaby though, instead, probably special needs that not everybody could/would be able to take care of (like Dizzy!) to fill that niche.
Sunny (Gastertale Sans): Kids are really cool and fun to hang out with--crazy little people, no filter, just running around, saying things, living life--they’re awesome, but he’s not totally sold on the idea of having his own. He does a lot of aimless life-living himself, and he feels like maybe that’s not the best thing for a kid. He doesn’t really have a career, he does things without a lot of planning, he goes places spontaneously, and... maybe that’s fun and exciting for a kid to be raised around, or maybe it’s unstable and harmful. He’s not really sure which and he probably doesn’t want to bring a kid into the mix until he knows. With a partner who’s a ‘yes’ on children and can help him co-parent and all that, sure, he’d probably be willing to give it a go. With one who’s a ‘no,’ that’s fine too, it’s a nonissue!
Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): A little weird and stiff around kids, never totally sure how he’s supposed to talk to them or what he’s meant to say (especially when it comes to those things you’re supposed to lie to kids about, he’s very bad at that!!!), but he has nothing against children in general. As far as the idea of having his own... Well, if his partner wants to have kids, it wouldn’t be a no-- he’d just have to do a lot of research on the subject first, to feel more comfortable and to hopefully prepare, mentally, as much as one can ever prepare for this. After that, he’d be open to discuss and negotiate the matter with his partner from there, to sort out the logistics. With a partner who doesn’t want kids, though, he’d almost certainly never even bring it up on his own and honestly probably thinks of ‘childfree’ as the expected default rather than something quirky, nontraditional, or a deal-breaker.

No One Survives A Night In The Maze - Newt Imagine
The lines seperate points of view, though it doesn’t mention who (you should be able to figure that part out yourself :)
*Differs from both books and movies
~
No one survives a night in the maze.
It was the first thing I was told when I entered the glade.
It’s the only thing I can hear apart from my feet coming down on the concrete floor and my heavy breathing.
I stayed out to late.
I wasn’t paying attention.
For this I will die.
There is a sharp corner that I manage to turn smoothly and take off, knowing where I am now.
I am close to the doors.
I must get there before they close.
I have to succeed or I will die.
A large boom echos through the maze and a large gust of wind flows past me.
The doors are closing.
I have run out of time.
I will die.
It is over the screeching of the doors that I hear yelling.
And when I turn the last corner I see its source.
The other gladers have spotted me.
They know I will die if I don’t make it to them.
I must make it to them.
I full out sprint, pooling every last bit of energy I have into this last distance.
As I get closer I can see their faces more clearly.
Chuck, screaming at me so much the his face has gone red.
Gally, who is telling me to push harder, run faster.
Minho who is yelling at me to move my ass, I’m not dying on his watch.
Thomas, the greenie, looking concerned, and I can tell by the look in his eyes that he wants to run into the maze, to help me. It’s the same move I tried to make when I was a greenie. When someone else was in my situation.
They didn’t make it.
I need too.
It’s Newt’s face that I focus on though. He isn’t screaming at me. He looks calm. It is because of this that I instantly know he isn’t.
He wants to run to me.
He has his limp.
We would both die.
He would tell me that it would be for the best, going together rather than separately.
He is scared.
He can’t show it.
As second in command he must be put together, just as Alby is next to him.
He is going to cry.
I can tell by the way his jaw is clenched, the way his shifts is weight from foot to foot - not favoring his good one like normal. I can tell by the way his stare at me is unwavering. The way he runs his fingers over his lips, like he always does when stressed.
In these last moments I find myself wondering why I know this.
I’ve never seen Newt cry.
It’s the fact that I know he will, that scares me.
Perhaps even more than being stuck in here overnight.
I push harder, until I cant feel my legs.
It’s not enough.
I see the doors shut.
I feel their boom.
It goes silent.
I am dead.
———
The girl does not see it but all the gladers have gone quiet.
Chuck doesn’t believe it. He doesn’t want to. He stares as the rest walk away.
Gally never cared much. But he did for her. She understood him. She was his friend. She is dead now.
Minho knows there is no survival in the maze, just as everyone else does. As much as he believes in the girl, as many races as she has beaten him in, he knows she will not be fast enough. No one ever is.
Thomas has heard what the gladers have told him, over and over. No one survives a night in the maze. But he holds hope. She will survive. She has too.
But mainly, they worry for Newt. There is no worry to spare for the girl, she is as good as dead. But Newt. Newt is alive. And she will not be.
They know that will break him.
Newts chest heaves.
Everyone knows how much the girl means to him.
No matter how much he has told them that they are just ‘best friends’ they all know he cares for her more than that.
They look to the second in command.
They pity him. The girl will never know how Newt felt about her. They don’t know how it feels, but they still sympathize.
It is only Minho who knows how Newt got his limp.
They never told anyone, and Newt said not to worry, that he wouldn’t try again, but still Minho watches over him.
His friend was empty.
He wasn’t like that anymore, not since she arrived.
For the first time it wasn’t just about making it through every day for him.
It was about living.
Something he hadn’t done in forever.
It looks as though Newt has died rather than her.
Minho knows that this is likely possible.
Newt has lost his life.
Minho knows Newt will make sure he won’t fail the next time he try’s.
Minho will do his best. He don’t know if it will be enough.
Newt turns away.
And when he walks away, the others follow.
If Newt has given up, there is no hope for the girl.
None at all.
———
I have failed.
I will be dead by morning.
I belong to the maze now.
But because I am human, I have a natural instinct to survive.
To try my best even though there is no hope.
This instinct tells me to run.
So I run.
It is not long before my breath gets heavy once more.
I was running all day. Now I will be running all night.
If I pass out from exhaustion, maybe death will come more painlessly.
It isn’t long before I hear the first griever.
The metallic whirrs send chills down my spine. I know that if I make it out alive, this moment will haunt me.
I pause to evaluate. I don’t see the grevier but I hear it coming closer.
Its too late when I realize it’s above me.
Jumping down, it pins me and I have nowhere to move.
I scream.
It’s painful. It holds fear and terror and in some way, it’s my final words.
My journey ends here.
———
No one returns to work in the glade.
No one wants to carve her name off of the wall.
No one is brave enough.
But they must.
Alby doesn’t make them go back to work.
He liked the girl. She was kind, hardworking, and made people laugh.
He morns for her.
It is Gally who scratches her name off the wall.
Gally is halfway through when Thomas speaks up.
“What if she survives?”
It’s as if the universe has some terrible, divine timing, for at that moment the girl’s scream pierces through the air.
It is a scream of death.
Gally continues scratching.
———
My throat hurts because I screamed.
By stomach hurts because I was clawed by a griever.
My lungs hurt because I have been running for too long.
My legs ache.
My head pounds.
And yet my heart beats. And for that I am grateful.
I don’t know how I am alive.
It all happened to quickly.
But I got out from under the griever.
I run still, because that same griever is still chasing me.
I run because I forgot one crucial element.
At night, the maze changes.
I feel I am doomed.
Instead, I use it.
Walls move, and sections change and I maneuver - loosing griever after griever.
Killing, griever after griever.
5 of them are dead when the sun peaks through.
I should be overrun with joy.
I have made it through the night.
Instead I collapse on the ground next to my newest kill.
I have ran too long.
I have lost to much blood.
I am alive.
But I feel I won’t be for long.
———
No one can find Newt when the sun peaks through.
No one would normally wake up this early.
No has had to.
No one has slept.
Death was no stranger to the glade.
There were dark days, in the beginning. There were banishments. And there were those who had gotten trapped overnight in the maze.
Yet somehow, this one hit harder.
It was strange, having a girl come up in the box.
Different.
Confusing.
But she had quickly proved herself, fitting right in with the glade, becoming one of the strongest.
If they were not friends with her they held high respect for her, as they did with Alby, and as they did with Newt.
She brought laughter to the glade.
All traces of said laughter was gone.
And no one could find Newt.
———
I had laid one whole hour.
I had expected death to come, take me into it’s cold hands. My destiny was sealed the moment the doors closed, locking me in the maze.
No one survives a night in the maze.
Yet I seem to have stayed alive through it all.
And all I feel is the cold concrete on my skin, the sting of my injury, and the ache in both my lungs and my legs.
I am tired, yes, but I am not dead.
I have done it.
I imagine what it will be like when I walk through the maze doors when they open.
They will all be there, lined up and they will all cheer for me. We will all hug and I will get asked millions of questions. The night will be worth surviving.
I look at my watch again.
The doors will open soon.
I want to be there when they do.
I pick myself up, wincing as I do, but standing none the less, and break out into a run.
This time I do not run for fear of life, but rather for the sake and hope of returning.
The feeling brings a new kind of energy into my body, and I pick up my pace.
I have survived a night in the maze.
I have done the impossible.
———
The doors open.
No one looks at them.
No one wants to work.
Alby makes them.
“We cannot survive if we don’t do our jobs.” He says.
There are no more runners left. Only Thomas and Minho remain. The rest have quit.
The two know they should go out.
They don’t.
Alby looks mad about it.
Neither care.
Alby understands.
Chuck runs up to the maze entrance and waits.
No one has the heart to tell him that she will not be coming through that door.
30 minutes later Thomas joins Chuck.
They sit side by side.
They know it’s hopeless.
They still wait.
No one can find Newt.
———
I have not memorized the way I ran.
It takes me longer to get back then I had thought.
It has been 47 minutes since the doors opened for the morning when I turn a familiar sharp corner.
It’s been 48 when I see these doors, open wide.
I pause.
There are only two figures sitting by the maze door.
I already know who they are.
“CHUCK!” I call out. “THOMAS!”
I can hear the pure relief in my voice, and I can see them look up and I will forever remember the way their faces light up.
Thomas gets to me first, running straight at me, and picking me up, spinning me around. Chuck arrives right after Thomas sets me down, giving me a big hug of his own.
It is then I realize I am crying. For my survival, for my pain, and for my joy.
“GUYS SHE DID IT. SHES ALIVE!”
Chuck runs around the glade screaming at everyone that I have made it.
And just as I suspected there are hugs and so many questions.
But there is no Newt.
I tell them there are 5 dead grievers, that I used the changing walls to kill them. I tell them about my injury, Cliff and Jeff immediately patching me up. I answer each and every question. I never ask any of my own.
I only have one anyway.
And when I do ask, I get silence and the sharing of looks between gladers.
“We can’t find him.”
———
I am mad at myself.
For failing.
I was stupid enough to get caught up in the ivy.
If I had succeeded I wouldn’t have my limp.
If I had succeeded I wouldn’t have met her.
If I had succeeded I wouldn’t feel so useless, standing by and watching the door close.
If I had succeeded I wouldn’t have had to hear her scream.
If I had succeeded I wouldn’t have to live with her death.
I feel dead.
I want to die.
And that’s the truth.
No one will find me.
And when they do,
They won’t find me alive.
———
I find him right away.
It was a spot I had found when I had just come up in the box.
There were too many eyes, too many boys, too much confusion.
I needed quiet to think.
So I found a small clearing, hidden by an unusually placed willow tree.
It had seemed obvious enough to me, but I liked how it was tucked away, hidden from the world.
Newt was the only one who was able to find me.
And when we became friends, it became our spot.
He came here when he felt empty.
It was here he told me his story.
It was here I told him I would always be around to help.
It was here he morned for me.
It was here he found out I wasn’t dead.
———
I heard the footsteps.
I didn’t bother wiping away my tears.
I was angered that someone found this place.
I knew they were looking for me.
I knew I should’ve been angry because I couldn’t carry out with my plan.
I was instead angry that someone had found this place. It was only supposed to be hers and mine. Us only.
I turned to scream, something I rarely did, but it was too much, there was just too much.
And there she was.
Bloody bandage around her abdomen, dark circles under her eyes, and her legs shaky.
But it was her.
This I knew.
We didn’t say anything. We didn’t have too.
Rather, she just walked forwards and kneeled down next to me, wrapping her delicate arms around me, burying her face in my neck.
She was alive.
She had done it.
I was proud, no one had ever done such a thing, but oh god all I could focus on was the fact that she was here, with me, in my arms.
In turn, I wrapped mine around her frame and pulled her closer, holding her tight, without hurting her.
“Hi love.” I whispered, my voice cracking. It was how I woke her up, an accidental slip one morning that became a word of comfort and playfulness between us. I never thought I would get to say those words again, to have to the chance to wake her up again, to hold her to my chest like I do now.
It began quietly, her tears, but they soon escalated, and all I could do was hold her and never let her go.
Her broken sobs finally broke me down, wearing down the wall that was already crumbling, and we sat there crying, holding each other.
I didn’t know how she had done it.
I didn’t know how she had gotten hurt.
I didn’t know what had happened to her.
And yet, for this moment, holding her in my arms was enough.
No one survives a night in the maze.
Except for her.

a/n: i know y’all don’t like the magical stuff as much, but i kind of liked this idea so this one’s for me :)
The sky is a weird shade of blue.
That’s all you can think about. The sky is a brighter shade of blue than it normally is. Everything looks brighter.
The trees are overly green, the road is nearly blinding you with how much the asphalt is reflecting the sun, and you realize you have no clue where you are.
Or how you got there.
You’re standing in the middle of the street. There is absolutely nobody around. It’s eerily silent.
Not even a bird chirps.
You search your brain to try and figure out how you wound up here. The street around you looks vaguely familiar. The look of the houses, the sound of waves crashing nearby tell you you’re still home.
But you know every single inch of your island, and you’ve never been on this street before.
Your legs carry you down the street without you even realizing, and you’re suddenly facing the ocean. The dock you stand on is just as unfamiliar as the street was. It looks somewhat like home, but deep down you know it’s not. This is not home.
It doesn’t take you long to realize this is a dream. In what world would the Outer Banks ever be this quiet?
Once you realize, you settle yourself on the end of the dock, dipping your legs into the water. There are no ships in sight. The ocean is open, endless. The water doesn’t move.
You’ve always wondered what it would be like to lucid dream. You’re pretty sure the very first step is to realize you’re dreaming.
Check. You pinch your arm to see if you can wake yourself up and nothing happens.
Maybe you can control the dream. Maybe you can manifest a tiger.
You close your eyes and scrunch them up tightly.
How do you create a tiger? You try and picture one in your mind.
You peek one eye open. No tiger.
Okay, maybe you need to say it out loud. “A tiger.”
You point to the dock, still closing your eyes.
“Roar?”
The sound of a voice, a human voice, makes you open your eyes and turn sharply.
It’s a boy. About your age, too. He seats himself next to you.
Apparently, your subconscious definitely knows how to make your perfect guy. He’s not a tiger, but he’s a hell of a lot better.
You’re not waking up anytime soon. You might as well play along.
“Hi,” you deadpan.
“Hi,” his voice is filled with confusion. “I’m JJ.”
Your subconscious knows what you like really well if it’s making a voice like that.
“I’m Y/n. But, you know. You probably know that.” You laugh. This is so weird. You’re introducing you to yourself.
“Why would I know that?” JJ questions, sounding more confused than before.
“Because, you know,” You nod at JJ, assuming this manifestation of yourself understands. He just shrugs.
“So, like, who are you? Like, what are you doing here?” You prod.
“Shouldn’t I ask you that?” He shoots back. Now it’s your turn to be confused.
“No?”
You don’t remember how long you talked to JJ that night. You remember telling him how you can’t stand the texture of mushy apples, though. You remember him telling you the craziest things about a treasure hunt.
God, you really did have an overactive imagination.
When you wake up the next morning, the only thing you can recall other than JJ is the way the waves didn’t move.
You spend the day at work, bussing tables at the Wreck. It’s a good distraction from your running mind.
When your head hits the pillow that night, you keep him in your mind. You can’t manifest a tiger, but hopefully you can manifest a boy.
You open your eyes and you’re on the street again. This time, you know exactly where you are. You sprint down the street, not stopping until the small houses have turned into the familiar dock. You run towards the ocean.
He’s already there when you get there. He’s sitting in the same spot, and turns to look at you as your bare feet thud on the ground.
“You came,” JJ smiles.
“I think I would have found you even if I didn’t try.” “We don’t really get much choice, do we.”
You take your place next to him.
“So, you wanna tell me more about this treasure hunt of yours?”
You know when you wake up, you won’t remember this. You tell him how you cry when you watch those puppy commercials. He tells you how he loves the feeling of the sun on his back after he’s been surfing.
You tell him how your sister died when you were little. He tells you about his fear of his dad.
You’re both silent for a moment. Everything is silent. The waves don’t crash. The waves don’t move.
When you wake up, you stare up at the ceiling for a moment. He should’ve been real. You’ve never been able to connect with anyone like you’ve connected with the boy in your dreams.
But it’s just you. Just your brain coping with itself by creating a version of you to connect with.
You haven’t talked with anybody like that in a long time.
Nights after nights pass, and you continue to meet JJ in your dreams. You know you’re not really talking to someone, but it feels good to get it all of your chest. To just keep talking and know someone can listen. You tell him things you’re not even sure you really knew about yourself.
Many of those nights, JJ talks to you. He tells you his dad hits him. You’re not sure what to say.
He tells you some crazy things. You listen, and marvel at the way your brain has crafted this boy. This perfect boy.
Over these nights, things change. It’s in the way he places his hand on yours when he sits next to you. It’s in the way he looks at you when he listens to you talk. It’s in the way you realize JJ isn’t just a piece of your imagination.
The last time you meet JJ at the dock, you tell him you haven’t figured out how to surf, but you’re trying to learn. That makes him smile.
“I love surfing! I wish I could teach you.”
“Of course you do.” “What does that mean?” JJ frowns.
“Of course you love surfing. You’re just the perfect embodiment of who I’ve been looking for, so of course you know how to surf. You know how to surf because I want to surf.”
“Y/n, what are you talking about?” “Yeah, yeah, you’ll- sorry, I’ll never admit it. You’re not real.”
“No, you’re not real.”
You turned your head so fast that if this was real, you would’ve had whiplash.
“What?” “I know you’re not real, man. My brain just gave me someone to talk to because I couldn’t take being alone anymore.” JJ sighs.
“Oh my god. Oh my god, you’re real, aren’t you?” You whisper.
There’s no way this can be true. You couldn’t have spent the past months calling yourself crazy for being in love with a boy in your dreams just to find out that he was real.
“Yeah? I wish you were.” “JJ, I am.” “Quit it. There’s no one like you in my world. I would’ve found you by now.” “I’m not kidding, this whole time I thought you were just my imagination, but,” you take a breath in, “but you’re real. Aren’t you?”
“So, so what? We’re both just dreaming the same dreams?” “I don’t know. I guess?” “Nah, this doesn’t make sense. What if we’re sleepwalking? Maybe we just sleepwalk to the same spot.” “JJ, that makes less sense.” “It makes just as much sense as us sharing dreams!” “The waves don’t move here, JJ.” You waved a hand towards the still water.
JJ left first that night. When you woke up, you tried to remember everything he had said to you. With each passing minute, more and more slipped away from you.
What did he tell you? Something about surfing?
All you could remember was the feeling. You remembered the overwhelming feeling of relief. As if a thousand pounds had been lifted off your shoulders. As if you could breathe again.
You couldn’t focus at work. You nearly dropped an entire plate of sandwiches and soup on a poor group of teenagers.
When you took your break, you retreated outside for a breather. You sighed and leaned your head back against the building.
“You’re so weird, Pope.” “I’m just saying!” The voices of teenage boys rung out in the air, snapping you out of your thoughts. You turned and rushed back into the restaurant, aggressively re-tying the apron around your waist and tugging your hair back into a rubber band.
The door blew open as you turned to clear dishes off of a nearby table. You didn’t check to see as they seated themselves at a table in your section. They must’ve been the people from outside. Setting down your tray, you hustled over to the new table, fumbling to get your pad out.
“Hi, welcome to the Wreck, do you need a second or can I get you started with,” The rest of your sentence failed to slip out. You had just managed to get the pen out of your pocket when you looked at the table and the words died in your mouth. There were 3 boys. 2 of them you didn’t recognize.
One you definitely did.
JJ’s lips parted and his eyes grew wide. Your pen clattered to the floor, long forgotten. Neither of you could find it in you to say anything.
The other two boys seemed more confused, calling their friend’s name.
“Is this,” JJ got out, his finger mindlessly twirling around his head, “am I dreaming again?”
You tore your eyes away from JJ to look out the window, out towards the water.
The waves were crashing, pulled by the ebb and flow of the water.
You shook your head.
“I’m, uh. I’m JJ.” His voice was unsteady, just as unsure as you were that this could be real.
“I’m Y/n. But you probably know that.”

♡ how you meet :
you first met Mark at the local bookstore
you were browsing through the fiction section, searching for your next read
as you pursued the shelves, you slid your finger across the spine of the books
until landing on the mystery novel you had been searching for
you removed the book from the shelf and added it to the stack of books you were carrying in your other arm
feeling satisfied with your collection, you proceeded to walk over to the lounge area to review the books
you sat down in a large, green armchair and placed the stack of books next to you on the side table
you picked up the first book, the mystery novel you had been dying to get your hands on, and started reading through the authors note on the inside cover
as you were flipping through the pages, glancing at the chapters, someone tripped over your foot
“oh, my bad”
the boy shyly bowed and apologized
“it’s okay,” you replied nodding back
the boy continued on his way and walked over to the magazine section
there he joined two other boys, you assumed they were friends
you shrugged off the interaction and diverted your attention back to your book
about 10 minutes pass by and you’ve glanced over each book you’ve found
you decided to buy the mystery novel and a YA romance novel
you gathered your things before putting the other books back on the shelf
you were back in the fiction section, your eyes scanning the shelves to find the correct place to put away a sci-fi novel when you heard some muffled giggling behind you
you decided not to turn around and focused on finding the section of books that matched the one you were trying to put away
“Johnny, I’m not gonna talk to her” a boy said in a whispered tone
“you’ve been staring at her this whole time, go talk to her!” encouraged another boy, you assumed it was the boy names Johnny
you tried again to ignore the whispers behind you
that is until you felt a tap on your shoulder
you turned around and were faced with a black-haired blushing boy
you glanced at the two boys behind him who were pretending to be inconspicuous, but failing at it
one boy was tall with auburn hair and held a starbucks cup in his hand
the other was slightly shorter with long blonde hair, is that a mullet?
“I um, ..” the boy in front of you spoke
you returned your gaze back to the shy boy
“I uh, my name’s Mark”
you were still very much confused as to what was going on
you didn’t mean to, but the puzzled look on your face must have given the boy a bad feeling because he said
“I don’t mean to bother you, but I um .. I think you’re really cute”
his ears were bright red and he had trouble looking you in the eye
he was so nervous
it’s charming
“I promise I’m not a bad guy, but um, would you lie to go on um ... a date with me?”
♡ first date :
you guys had been talking for a few days leading up to your date
Mark wanted to make sure you didn’t think he was some sort of weirdo for asking you out in Barnes and Noble
and he wanted you to at least get to know him before going out
and the two of you discussed your schedules and were able to set up a date and time for the two of you to go out
and Mark, being the gentleman that he is, decided to take you to a restaurant for your first date
he wanted to keep things sort of traditional and classy and make you feel special
he’s a softie like that
he really wanted to impress you by dressing nice in a blazer and dress shoes
he wanted to prove that he’s more than just the nervous, giggly guy you found in a bookstore
ugh im so soft
anyway, Mark picks you up and you two head to the restaurant together
once you’re seated at your table, the waiter takes your orders for drinks and appetizers
once she leaves, there’s nothing but silent tension
Mark’s hand flies to the back of his neck, nervously fildeling with the hair behind his head.
“you look really nice” he said, his voice was low
you could sense the anxiousness by his tone
“thanks, you look really nice too” you said, returning the compliment
there was another long pause
“how are your books? I.. I mean the ones you bought last week” Mark asked, he was making an effort to start a conversation
the two of you had no problem talking over text, but the both of you are clearly nervous around each other
was it because both nervous and socially awkward? or was it the sexual tension?
who knows
eventually the awkwardness subsided sort of
Mark was still visibly nervous
he kept rubbing the back of his neck and would stutter every so often
it was cute that he was nervous
but it’s all part of his charm
I mean, that’s the reason you agreed to go out with him in the first place
alright, back to your dinner
you were able to have a decent conversation with him
the two of you discussed your family and friends, your hobbies and interests
nothing too wild
but the whole time, Mark listened to you intently
he would ask questions, furthering your conversation
he seemed genuinely interested in getting to know you and learning about your interests
it was refreshing and sweet
every so often, he would crack a joke
and they were always so cheesy and dorky
but it was cute, so you laughed along
after your meal, Mark had offered to walk you home before it got too late
he wanted to make sure you got home safely
when you arrived at your doorstep, the two of you exchanged goodbye’s
“I had a good time tonight” you said
“I’m glad, so did I” Mark smiled back shyly
you placed a soft peck on his cheek
his cheeks flushed pink and the tip of his ears turned bright red
“Good night beautiful” Mark said, taking ahold of your hand
he leaned in and gently kissed your forehead
♡ living together / couple stuff :
everyday with Mark is an adventure
and I mean that in the best way
Mark is always full of surprises
sometimes he’ll be sitting in the living room and just start strumming his guitar and sing soft ballads and his voice would echo through the house
or you’ll be fixing dinner for the two of you in the kitchen and you’ll hear his infectious laughter from the living room
you and Mark have tons of inside jokes
he’s always making cheesy jokes
like even if his jokes aren’t funny
you’ll still laugh along because he’s just that cute and clueless
sometimes he’ll come home and share stories about his day
like he’ll talk about the producers he met with and the songs he’s been working on with them
and he’ll get super excited too
“babe, I can’t wait for you to hear the finished product”
not that that he wants validation from you, but hearing you praise him for his work and his music really gives him an ego boost
who doesn’t want to hear the love of their life compliment them on their passions?
also, you’re a huge inspiration and muse to him
now not every song he write its written about you, but when it comes to love songs on nct albums or a superm album, you’re always at the forefront of his mind when contributing to love lyrics
he loves adding little nods to your relationship in his music
it’s his way of showing his love for you
but it’s not always in just lyrics, he can also be romantic in his actions
although he can be a little awkward sometimes
he’s just a sweet puppy okay? be gentle with him
Mark is a big cuddle bug
he’s kind of clingy when he returns home from tour and promotions
and he wants to spend as much time with you as possible when his schedule is clear
mornings with Mark are an experience
he absolutely loves to treat you to breakfast in bed
but Mark isn’t the best chef
so he’ll either try his best at making you eggs and toast
or he’ll stop by your favorite cafe and purchase a to-go order
Mark loves making you feel special in any little way he can
but let’s talk about the night time
after dinner, the two of you like to cuddle up and watch the newest kdrama episode on tvN or just watch a random bad movie on Netflix to make fun of
you’ll of course have a big bowl of popcorn and finish it within the first 10 minutes of the movie
and when the movie is over, you’ll walk to your shared bedroom
and cuddle up under the blankets and snuggle into Marks chest
because of course he’s the big spoon
and you’ll interlock fingers
sometimes when neither of you can sleep, Mark encourages you to talk about whatever is on your mind
because sometimes you have too much going on and you mind is just so full that you can’t sleep
Mark is super understanding and just offers his ear to you
he’ll comfort you if there’s anything serious going on
Mark is just super supportive and loves having deep conversations with you
he loves how these deep conversations bring the two of you closer together because it strengthens your trust in one another
♡ arguments :
Mark doesn’t seem like the confrontational type
and the two of you don’t fight often
like I had mentioned before up above, you and Mark tend to tell each other everything
there’s not much that you hide from each other
and you guys have such a strong bond that jealousy doesn’t really affect you both
but that doesn’t mean that life stresses can’t affect you
now we all know that we tend to take out our frustrations on the people we love
so I feel like most of the bumps in your relationship could be related to the stresses from work and everyday life
like sometimes you just have a bad day at work
you boss is in a mood and takes it out on you, so you bring home that frustration and eventually take it out on Mark
even though you don’t mean to
another example may be the stress about your public relationship with him as an idol
obviously if you received hate, it might have an effect on your actions towards your boyfriend
you become distant and closed off a bit
the comments say that you don’t deserve someone like Mark, and even though you know they’re wrong that doesn’t mean their words don’t hurt
and when Mark realizes how closed off you’ve been, he’ll try to talk with you about it
of course he won’t force you to talk about things until you’re ready
but Mark can be a little fragile, and the fact that you’ve been distant would hurt him
and when he hears that you’ve been doubting that you’re worthy of his love really hurts him
he’ll comfort you and rub the tears from your face
seeing you cry just breaks his heart
♡ sexy time :
okay, now I’ve said this before, but Mark is a soft dom, possibly a switch
listen, don’t cancel me
I feel like Mark puts on a show that he’s super kinky
and his lyrics from ‘whiplash” and ‘drippin’ are proof of that
but when it comes down to the wire, I think he’s actually kind of nervous at first
sex with Mark for the first time is a sweet experience
of course, y’all aren’t going to jump straight into choking on the first night
Mark is a gentleman
a good christian boy
Mark is a soft dom for your first time
he’s very gentle and he takes his time, making sure that you’re comfortable and satisfied every step of the way
he places kisses all over your body, making sure he pays attention to every inch of your body
Mark pays attention to every moan and whimper that falls from your precious lips
he’ll leave love bites and markings in all your sensitive spots
his thrusts are slow and deep, making it easier for you to feel every inch of him completely fill you
I can’t see Mark finishing inside you for the first time, but creampies are definitely something he’s into
*cough* drippin by nct dream and drop by superm *cough*
he really likes creampies
but once the two of you get comfortable with each other and settle into your relationship, that’s when the kinks come out
I would say that Mark is open to experimenting in bed
and even though the both of you are comfortable with each other, Mark is still slightly awkward when talking about sex with you
it’s just who he is
when it comes to trying out things that you’re interested in, that’s when I feel like Mark would take the backseat
he’d sub on those nights
it’s just easier for you to take control when doing things that you’re interested in
but when it comes to you wanting Mark to choke you or spank you, I feel like he would be a little hesitant at first
he just doesn’t want to hurt you
he’s not sure how strong his grip should be around your throat
he’s not sure how hard he should spank you
what level of pain did you want to receive?
but once he saw your response and heard your begging, he’ll start to get into it
he’ll thrust into you hard and fast, his grip around your throat will tighten
he watches as your eyes roll back in pure pleasure, until you finally climax and cry out his name in ecstasy
he loves watching you cum all over him
I can see him wanting to try out cockwarming, but he’s somewhat nervous when brining it up to you
cockwarming is something the two of you do when you’re cuddling after sex
of something that you do in the morning when it’s cold outside and you just want to cozy up and share each other’s warmth
it’s an intimate thing that Mark’s been interested in trying out, and sharing moments like that with you would be pretty meaningful for him

↳ CLASS 1-A HC’S TO MAKE YOU SMILE (hopefully)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: i’ve been on class-1a brainrot (yes, all of them. collectively) for SO LONG and honestly? I love it here. romance is all good and dandy but FRIENDSHIP? good shit.
on that note, these pairings are all platonic! just little things i like about their dynamics or things i think they’d do when they hang out :) feel free to see them as romantic though, not like i can stop you :P
p.s sorry for dipping??? for like months???
Tumblr media
genre: fluff
warnings: minor situational angst
Tumblr media Tumblr media
→ Denki & Izuku
❑ These two boys are the other’s hype-man, totally. Kaminari absolutely does not mind sitting through Izuku’s ravings about the fluctuating hero rankings, or even just the times where Izuku mutters on and on.
❑ Kaminari’s been ignored enough times to know that it doesn’t feel good at all to want to talk to someone and for them to sheepishly tell you they’d long since stopped listening. Izuku does the same for Denki, no question. Sometimes Denki starts talking, and he doesn’t really...stop.
❑ But Izuku finds it’s nice to hang out with the boy, and he doesn’t mind not contributing to the conversation when Denki looks so elated to see someone listening for once.
❑ While I will forever be the number one advocate for Bakugou tutoring Denki and finding different studying strategies that work for Denki instead of giving up on him, I think Izuku’s just as likely to do that for kami!
❑ It’s a frustrating first session, but once Izuku’s brian suggests that Kami might just need another method of studying, he takes that idea and runs with it.
❑ The next week, kami goes to Izuku’s room a little afraid of the freckled boy rejecting him- but to his surprise, Izuku presents him with all types of new study methods, including colored index cards and a home-made sentence reader that covered the entire page except for one line at a time.
❑ (yes, he did tear up for a second.)
❑ They end up going through that week's chapter in half the time it usually took Denki to get a subject, and they got to play video games afterward!
Tumblr media
→ Ochako & Katsuki
❑ While I don't think the boys in 1-A look down on the girls in the sense of "but they're girls so they are weaker :(" all that much- Katsuki was the first and only one really to make that clear. He didn't see her as something or someone to pity. She was an opponent and a damn capable one at that.
❑ So, yes. Maybe Ochako and Katsuki aren't exactly best friends who'd die for each other. But they’ve proven to each other that if there's someone who'll bring their all to a fight no matter the circumstance, it's each other.
❑ Ochako’s weariness when it came to Katsuki was short lived. It was kind of hard to be so...afraid of someone who treated you better than others seemed to coddle her when she told them she was a hero-in-training.
❑ It starts small, too. At first it was just teaming up occasionally during class for spars. Then it was going to the gym after school with Katsuki and Eijirou.
❑ Tiny little hang-outs like that then turn into joining the blonde on his morning runs every once in a while, and eventually Ochako found herself seeking out Bakugou every weekend, and the blonde seemed to be on the same mind-track, too. Every Sunday, when Ochako pulled open the front door, she spotted Katsuki, stretching out in the front lawn, waiting for her.
❑ (and if they occasionally have breakfast together after their bi-weekly sunday training sessions, then that's their business.)
Tumblr media
→ Shouto & Eijirou
❑ them hanging out wasn't really ever. Expected. Like, at all.
❑ but kirishima's shown that he has a knack for weird, almost hostile awkward boys with low friend counts
❑ so shouto fits right in
❑ really it starts when Kirishima finds Shouto in the common room, staring into space. Usually he'd leave him be, but it was weird to see the boy without his group of friends joining him
❑ in an effort to get to know shouto better, kiri offers to play a few rounds of super smash bros,,, and shouto just. blinks. at him. And kiri blinked back for a second before he realizes shouto didn't know what super smash bros was
❑ and of course, to kiri, that's absolute blasphemy
❑ so kiri abandons his trip to the kitchen in favor of sitting next to shouto on the couch, and teaching him how to play as many video games as they could fit in one night
❑ (the first time kiri sees shouto laugh, he can't help the way his face splits into a grin. Todoroki, while not mean, was someone who came off as cold most of the time, so to see him so relaxed made Eijirou feel warm.)
❑ somehow it becomes a regular thing-- shouto would come downstairs, and eventually Kirishima would show up. Sometimes they were both alone, sometimes they were surrounded by their friend groups. But every time without fail, Kirishima would take his place next to shouto, hand him the blue controller that he favored, and turned on the TV to select the first game they'd be playing
❑ (watching Shouto start to gain some of Kirishima's vernacular was also an interesting - read:hilarious - experience)
Tumblr media
→ Mina & Yuga
❑break dancing buddies
❑ like. I'm not kidding these two have moves.
❑ well. Mina does, at least. Aoyama gets it pretty quickly but it took him a second to familiarize himself with how your body moves when your break dancing.
❑ aoyama's danced ballet most of his life, so dancing wasn't new to him
❑ but this particular type of dancing was new to him- so of course he reached out to mina after the UA festival
❑ mina, ever the angel, agreed!!!!! Dancing buddies!!!
❑ Mina's also loved dance for a good amount of time
❑ it started in middle school, and just carried into highschool. The idea of being to express yourself with your /body/ was exciting, plus you looked really cool while doing it too!
❑ so when she gets asked by Aoyama to teach him how to breakdance she's nervous, but completely giddy to be able to be someone else's intro to a hobby that was a big part of her life
❑ it's not an uncommon sight to see mina and Aoyama, in their workout clothes, working through moves Step by step with Mina's phone blasting some random song that was beat heavy
❑ (Aoyama would be an interesting extra add on to the bakusquad. Am I wrong? No 🚗)
Tumblr media
→ Hanta & Tsuyu
❑ Sero never really interacted with tsuyu, not to say he didn't like her! she just wasn't in his social circle
❑ so to say he felt awkward when he found her in the corner of the library during free period- curled up and sniveling away - was an understatement
❑ still, he put down the fourth issue of a manga he was /really/ looking forward to catching up on, and sat next to her until she calmed down enough to tell him what's wrong
❑ turns out, winter always sucked and made her tired, which made her sad. Added on to the already existing amphibian instincts in her that hated loud noises or too many people, it could get really overwhelming for her
❑ Sero offered to let her into his room whever she wanted to hang out in the quiet, if she felt embarrassed to do so with her closer friends
❑ she seemed surprised, but quickly agreed.
❑ Sero wouldn't tell her, but he often felt the same in a sense. The only two people in his friend group who could be relatively quiet in more personal settings were Bakugou, ironically, and Kirishima. So he often found himself leaving group hang-outs just a little early, to destress in his quiet room.
❑ tsuyu hadn't expected him to stay with her, and especially not offer his room to her whenever she needed to get away. Still, she agreed, knowing she'd probably never take him up on his offer
❑ she was proven wrong three days later, when Ochako squealed about...something.
❑ tsuyu couldn't say for sure what the floaty girl was yelling about. Normally she was attentive, really! But her head was throbbing and she was on the verge of falling asleep then and there when Ochako burst into a loud yell of excitement, startling the frog-like girl
❑ so tsuyu gathered her stuff as quickly as her sluggish body allowed, rushed out a quick goodbye to her baffled friends and made her way to the dorms
❑ the elevator was a struggle, with the humming of the machinery almost lulling her to sleep. She made it out successfully, though due to her drowsiness and increasingly blurring vision, she realized just a little too late that she had wandered down the wrong hallway
❑ sero's name plate made her stutter in her tracks, but after a moment of deliberation that left her swaying on her feet, she knocked as strongly as she could on the thin door, hoping the lanky boy was in his room
❑ thankfully, he was, and he only offered her a small smile before ushering her into the room and guiding her to his bed. Tsuyu thinks she croaked out a tiny "thanks", but she couldn't really be sure
❑ she slept better in those 39 minutes than she had in weeks
❑ after that, tsuyu somehow got into the habit of wandering down the opposite hallway once she left the elevator, and most of the time Sero would open his door when she knocked, only giving her a smile before letting her wander to his bed or, more commonly, the pile of blankets and bean bags he had in a corner of his room.
❑ (she wouldn't admit it, and neither would he, but the times where they walked back to his dorm together once their free period began were their favorites. and the days where tsuyu wasn't so sleepy and they talked for the hour they had weren't so bad, either)
Tumblr media
okokok i’m cutting it here since that last section was super long! who knew i had so much to say about hanta and tsuyu ,,,,

Just Us (Chapter Seven: Calculating)
Tumblr media
← Chapter Six
845
“So… um, it’s the Spring Equinox and all. We usually do something. You know, you, me, some friends; like we always do. Are you… are you going to come this year?” I turned to Jonas who was leaning on a box of flour. How could he so easily forget moments like that? He confessed to me and then the next day seemed to completely forget. Months later when it seemed he had an in, he didn’t even go for it. Talk about being uncompetitive.
“Will there be as much drinking as there was last year?” It was monotone and I glanced over to the corner spot. Garrison. Last year, the girl Jonas was interested in and I had to drag back him and his three friends from outside Wall Sina and they slept on the floor of the bakery while I offered her my couch. During the process of wrestling them inside, Jonas had somehow stripped naked and his friends were trying to follow suit. I try to keep that memory suppressed.
“Probably yeah. You know the spring wine is the best… but you’re still kinda sic-” I nodded and help up my hand to stop his excuses.
“You’ll probably have to drag me home this year. I’m in.” He smiled, but it was bittersweet, knowing I wasn’t going to hang out with everyone and socialize. I’d probably just sit under a tree and drink my sorrows away.
“Eva, you-” The sounds of horses outside broke him from his sentence. Some people went out and others just turned back to their food. The Scouts were slowly dwindling in number as they were waiting for the new recruits to come in from training. No one was enthused that they were coming in and out and those who would go and watch them come back were sadists. I turned my back and went to busy myself with some invisible work at the back table.
“You know, if he did something to you to-” I grasped the table. He says this almost every time they march outside of my café.
“If who did something, Jonas?” He felt the venom in my tone and decided not to push forward. I coughed for what felt like the hundredth time and it broke the tension.
“So, uh, next week. I’ll come to get you when we leave. Should be after five. We’ll all get dinner and take it out.” He took the money off the counter and went out of the store, probably to go glare at the Scouts who were walking by.
If he didn’t come this Saturday that marks three months. It also marks the point where I get the message and I’ll forget about him all together. I had forgiven him the first month. He didn’t know how to deal with emotions so he needed some time and maybe needed to kill some titans. The second month came, and an extended break for weather conditions, but yet he didn’t come anywhere near Trost. I even went through one cold and caught another one just waiting for his ass. I wanted him to reject me already so I wasn’t getting let down on the daily.
Here comes my surprise when Saturday one rolls around, I’m still coughing and sneezing, and he’s nowhere to be seen. Even the old ladies stopped coming. I guess they were more wiser on when to give up.
Damn. That was something I never thought I’d hear myself say. Giving up hope. Even he said that he’s afraid I’d give up hope because of him. Well, here we seem to be.
I shouldn’t let a shorty who doesn’t know how to process emotion take away my hope.
The bells rang above the door and two nightshift Garrison members walked in. My least favorite people, always coming 30 minutes before closing asking me to serve them fresh coffee to keep them awake. They never failed to make my mood worse and this oncoming headache wasn’t going to go away with their shouts. Last month, I had to kick out a few of them because they were talking so nastily about the Scouts. I couldn't bear it and neither could my head. I still had hope in the Scouts as a whole, especially hearing they were getting new recruits, and one person wasn’t going to ruin that. Hopefully, the fresh meat would propel them like it did last year. Hm, maybe fresh meat was not a good way to describe the cadets.
The bell above the door rang again and I looked up to be face to face with the Wings of Freedom. At least one Scout was using their day off, a tall one at that. A contrast to shorty. She had rectangular glasses strapped to her face and auburn hair in a ponytail. She came in smiling crazily too. A big contrast.
“Are you Eva with the peppermint tea?” I had to do a double take and even blinked a few times before answering her. I sneezed again before answering.
“Um, yes. I think that would be me. Who’s asking?” She sharply reached out her hand and I shook it. Ouch, she had a hard grip.
“I’m Hange Zoë, a squad leader for the Scouts Regiment. I’m here to escort you to the Scout HQ. Do you have the peppermint tea?” I blinked again, not moving. She wanted to take me where? The last place I wanted to go, that’s where.
“Am… Am I in trouble?” She laughed out loud, not caring if anyone looked at her. Yeah, she really wasn’t at all like the Scouts I meet on a daily basis.
“No, no. Not at all. In fact, I almost have no idea why I’m taking you there. Well, a little bit more of an idea than you have. Personally,” she leaned in and whispered behind her hand, “I’ve been wanting to talk to you since I saw you at the festival, but shorty wouldn’t crack.” It wasn’t a whisper and I’m sure if anyone was at the first few tables, they would have heard it.
“A-and if I don’t come with you?” She shrugged and crossed her arms.
“I’ll drug you and drag you myself.” I stepped back from the counter and she roared with laughter, “I’m kidding! I’m kidding! Do I look like someone who would do that? Well, maybe... but If you don’t come, I’ll have to deal with an even more upset Captain and I don’t want to do that!” Captain? He ordered her here?
“Did the Captain send you to get me?” She pushed her glasses up and leaned one arm on the counter.
“I guess I should’ve led with that. Levi said, ‘Eva with the peppermint tea,’” she imitated his voice and facial expression, “I had to go to three coffee shops in Trost to find an Eva. Two streets down is a Freud and about a half mile behind you in a cute old couple. I didn’t think the Captain would want them that badly. So when I walked in and remembered seeing Captain talk to you at the festival, I knew I hit the jackpot.” She snapped at the end making a point to her adventure to find me. The Garrison members were now staring at her, too. They probably knew about her better than I did.
“Why does he want me to come to HQ?” She shrugged again, but this time without a death threat after.
“I don’t know, but shorty is very adamant about it. I told him I was busy for a whole month, thinking it was a fever dream, but that made him even madder. Anyways, I was hoping you’d come and bring the tea and a...” she looked down at ink on her hand, “ a tea set. Captain Levi broke his on the first day of the year. How unlucky is that?” He was adamant that I come? That’s stupid. How adamant can he be when he’s had three months to do it. He probably just wanted to make it easy for someone to drag me away from him when he rejected me. Either way, I was intrigued.
The Garrison members groaned when I shoved them out the door to lock up a few minutes early.
I shouldn’t have gone really, but I had no excuse. Maybe I just wanted him to reject me like I said and then have a sad ride back to the café. However, Hange coming in and saying all those things made me much more concerned about his mental wellbeing than what he was going to say to crush me. And if he was making me come all the way there, was he going to give me bad news? I don’t think he’d be that mean, but I have never faced the real Captain Levi before.
Hange had given me another cape, and some tissues for my nose, saying that it would be easy to have me come in unnoticed because the new cadets had just showed up. She just hoped I didn’t get caught sneaking around by Erwin and thrown into combat training. This woman was saying stuff that was making me scared the whole ride there. I was on a horse too, so that made my anxiety worse.
The Scout HQ was a huge ass castle and I didn’t think it would look at all like this. The barracks in the capital were just a big square building with some pillars. This place was gigantic. Hange made it a point to name every section of the castle so I somehow knew right away where I was going. I was going to the Officer’s Wings.
“It’s a shame though. We’re leaving this place soon for a new one the government issued. It’s not as nice, but it’s smaller because they don’t think we need such a big place… Well, it’s true, but… they didn’t have to say it like that, you know! I’ll have to move my whole lab!”
The hallways were also tall on the inside. It was an actual abandoned castle. I wondered who had lived in here before the government got ahold of it. She even stopped by to show me the throne room that they had converted into the mess hall. It’s like I was on a field trip, but at the end of it was the school leader’s office. Why was I being summoned by him? Was he not good enough to come to the civilian’s café anymore? Annoying prick.
“Here is Captain Levi’s quarters. We just transferred him back today, but he’s still a bit sore from not moving around much. I hope that once he gets his peppermint tea that he’s moaning about, he won’t be so rude to everyone anymore.” I balanced the tea set and bag of tea in my hands as she opened the door for me.
“Transferred?” She waved her hand like it was nothing as shut the door on me. It was like she threw me into the wolves. She didn’t even want to be. I didn’t know she was just going to leave me like that because my nerves just skyrocketed.
His office was like he described. Half the size of the capital, but still with big windows in the back. This time, they were turned to the way of the sun. There was a single, full bookshelf against the wall on the left with another chair in front. This time the chair didn’t seem as uncomfortable as the ones in the capital. He wasn’t sitting at his desk where I thought he’d be. As soon as I saw the crack in the door and dim light peaking through, I knew he was in his bedroom. Why?
We just transferred him back today. Well where had he been?
I decided to sneak up to the little cut out in the wall which held a singular hot plate. If I could make tea, I could prolong the time I didn’t have to talk to him. Why did I even come here in the first place? It’s not like I like this guy anymore or would bend over at his will. Just a rejection, yeah, that’s what I came for.
Taking a single, short step, I tested the floors, hoping they didn’t squeak. Once I was in the clear, I slowly started to tiptoe towards the opening. If I went fast near his door, he wouldn’t even see it.
Achoo!
I held the tea set, but it rattled mercilessly in the box. Oh fu-
“Hange?!” Oh, yeah, he was definitely in the bedroom. Now, I’d just stand here with my eyes closed and hope I didn’t look too bad when he opened the door.
Who am I kidding, I literally hopped on a horse to get here on a whim. I’m bending so far over for this man it’s ridiculous.
“Hange, I told you it was the sixth café down off of the turn we make on the main drag. It’s hard to,” there was a wheeze, “h-hard to miss.” I stood there for a while, but he didn’t come out or open the door. In fact, there was no movement coming from his room at all.
“Hello?!” It was harsh and was followed by another sharp intake of air. It dawned on me then. Transferred. Was he injured?!
“Um, hello?” I finally answered and looked again to see if he would open the door now. Still no movement and now no answer. Maybe Hange messed up and he didn’t want me he-
“Did you bring the tea?” I was not expecting that. His voice was instantly softer than before and after months of not hearing it, it made me melt.
“Oh, um, uh, yes, yes I did. And the set, and the set.” I coughed into my arm, masking my cold. If he knew I was sick, he might send me back just because of germs.
“C-come in. M-My room. I already have hot water...” Come in? To his room? His bedroom? Where he’s laying? He hasn’t even come into my bedroom before.
“Um, are you sure you want me in there?” There was a loud groan, probably so I could hear his annoyance too.
“Just get in here, brat.” There was something about him calling me that that made me annoyed and walk slowly into his room. Was it the urge to bicker again?
I opened the door and peaked in, instantly locking eyes with him. I screamed at my heart because just like the first day, it started beating fast again. Shut up. He’s going to reject you then you’re going to go back home and put the tarts in the oven to prebake.
He looked pitiful. There were bandages wrapped all the way around his torso and he was shirtless, but it didn’t look like it. His head had one bandage around it too, but that one seemed pretty useless. More of a headband if anything. It had also been a while since he’s bathed, marked by the incomplete stubble scattered around his mouth and chin. He just laid there, blanket up to his waistband, staring at me. What had happened and for how long was he like this?
My anger and inhibition to come inside subsided and I set the tea set down on the floor. There was no chair for me to sit on, so I just stood. We stared at each other for what seemed like eternity, my heart still beating out of my chest. He was the first one to break the silence.
“C-Can you make me tea?” It almost came out like a whine coupled with his lack of breath. I crouched down and took the tea set out, looking at the makeshift water kettle he had on his nightside table. This bedroom was so small; there was no room for a desk. His bed was up against the wall only leaving a few feet towards the door and enough room for a dresser and walking space at his feet. No windows.
“You can,” he caught his breath and was silence for a few moments before continuing, “You can sit here, Eva.” He tapped the space next to him on his bed. I was hesitant at first, but the way he said Eva made me almost forget all his wrong doings. How badly did I want to see him again that I was acting like this? So weak for a single man. I sat down on the bed, back to him, trying to ignore his heated stare.
It was the same feeling the night I kissed him. I made him tea, he stared at me from behind, but I couldn’t get close to him this time. That was going to be the difference. I wouldn’t let myself have such a weak will like last time. Go in, make the tea, get out.
“What did you do?” Goddamnit Eva. You weren’t supposed to make conversation like this.
“A newer cadet ran into me while I was trying to finish off an abnormal titan. The titan got a hold of me and squeezed pretty hard before I cut it’s fingers off. The cadet gave me the concussion, and the titan fractured most of my ribs. This was the beginning of February.” Of course he gave me a date. If I went back to that time, I said I was going to let it slide, too. I had given him January off and if he got hurt in February that means even if he wanted to come to the café, maybe he couldn’t… No, Eva, if he wanted to he’d send Hange earlier.
I told him I was busy for a whole month, thinking it was a fever dream.
“Oh,” I went back to work, taking out the set he left when he stormed out of the café and the new peppermint tea he has yet to drink. No one but him comes in to drink mint tea. Usually it’s just green or black, so the stock I buy is just for him. Imagine me staring at the tea leaves sitting under the counter for hours next to the tea set box willing him to walk into the café. If he wasn’t going to come back, maybe I should just give it to him so he doesn’t force me here again.
“I’m almost healed completely. There’s just one rib that’s bothering me enough to not be able to go back in the field.” It was interesting to hear him talk so much, even when injured. Our roles had reversed. Maybe he felt pressured to talk more than usual. I hope guilt was pushing him.
“That’s good.” I just sat there, watching the tea leaves swirl in the water, and hoping I’d had enough strength to turn back away from him when I gave him his cup.
“What have you been d-doing?”
“The usual.” I picked at my skirt, noticing it was the one I’d worn the last time I’d seen him. When only owning about five, there were heavy odds that would happen. Sadly, this meant the odds were stacked against me. I only won a few bits of luck back when I was, in fact, able to turn back around when I gave him his tea. I didn’t even look in his eyes either.
“Can you help me into the bathroom?” He set the empty tea cup down next to me, making it so I didn’t have to turn around to put it on his nightstand. If I helped him, I’d have to look at him though. This was apart of some plan.
“I could get Hang-” He grabbed my wrist with a bit of force and used his strength to turn me. I also fell on top of him with how hard he whipped me around. This was the first time he had put his hands on me like that.
“Why can’t you even look at me?!” I was breathing hard, but still looking at the blankets on the bed. His hand was bandaged too. We’d traded places in that aspect. I wasn’t going to tell him, but the balm he gave me helped. HE didn’t deserve that information when he was acting like this.
I stood up, taking my knees off the bed, and pulled the blanket off of him. I made sure to fold this so he had nothing to yell at me about again. He got himself parallel to me and needed help to sit up. The was probably going to be the most painful part. You were helping someone who was in pain, there was nothing else to it. I was being a nurse to him since no one else was around to do so.
Reaching for his back, I carefully helped lift him up to a seated position. The amount of curse words that came out of his mouth made my heart squeeze at the pain I was putting him through. It was just pity; you were sad for the man who was hurt. That’s it. I shifted my position to sitting next to him and silently gasped when he put his arm around me and grabbed my opposite shoulder. Minus the time I had kissed him, this was the closest we’d ever been. My mind couldn’t help but take a delight in that.
When we stood, there were a lot less curse words, but they were still there. My gaze was directed at the floor as we walked out and directly to the right into the small bathroom. They really paid no expense to give the Scouts nothing. This was an officer’s quarters too, which meant that he had one of the best lodgings. I bet it was bunk beds and communal showers outside of this wing.
I let go of him and got behind him near the door. I had no idea what he was going to do here, but I knew I’d leave as soon as he started. Would I leave completely now that I’d given him tea? It seemed rude to someone who was in his state. What if he falls or hurts himself again? This wing was so far removed from the others. My weak will triumphs again.
“Can you take off the bandages? There’s scissors on the sink.” How much was he going to torture me before I leave? He’s hurt, just do it, Eva.
I picked up the scissors and walked over to his back, trying to be gentle so I didn’t cut the skin off of him. I put one hand on his upper back and worked from the bottom-up, cutting away at the thick, white bandages holding his ribs in place.
The speed of our breathing matched when I touched his bare skin. Was he breathing hard because of the decreased pressure? I raised one eyebrow, maybe taking that as a selfish clue, and took away the last bandage. They fell on the floor and allowed me to take in his shirtless back. There were bruises that were healing and a few minor cuts, but most importantly it seemed to be all lean, muscle. He wouldn’t care or notice if I was staring, so I took it as payback. Sweet, muscular, gorgeous pay back. If he turned he would have seen my blush.
Yeah, good luck Eva, the feelings aren’t gone.
“I’m going to shower. You can, um, there’s books? I think Hange left something to eat a few hours ago, too. Eat that...if you want.” That was his way of telling me he didn’t want me to leave.
“Okay,” I finished shortly and turned back around, closing the bathroom door. When the water went on, I took a long breath and sunk down against the door. I put a hand to my face and lightly slapped it to wake me up. My face had to be at least five shades redder after that encounter. Was he going to make me put bandages back on him? Would I get to see his front on full display? I slapped my face again and frowned at myself. He wasn’t the only shirtless man you’ve seen, quit acting like this.
I stood up and looked around at his office. There were papers scattered all over his desk, nothing seemed to be in it’s right place, and I could see a layer of dust collecting on the shelves to the right of his desk. It’s not because me cleaning would make him happy, but it’s because I had taken an interest in looking around his office. It would be a disservice to the place if I didn’t look at it in the way he intended.
Starting with the desk, I just pushed papers together and stacked them in neat piles on his desk. It was easy to find a spot because there was absolutely nothing on his desk besides a name plaque, a cup to hold pens, and a stamp that seemed to be his official marking for papers. His office was as bare as the one in the capital. I found a cloth by the burner and used that to wipe down the shelves that were equally as empty. A rusted knife, a small stack of Wings of Freedom cloth emblems, and a cracked, white teacup. I wonder what these things meant to him if he put them over here on display.
I wiped off his desk too and opened the curtains that blocked the sunlight from the windows. His office viewed the training ground as I saw cadets practicing hand-to-hand combat in full uniform. When I finished dusting everything, I sat down in his chair, taking in the full view of his office. If I had a room like this, I’d fill it with something and not leave it so empty. I bet it even echoed.
“Echo… echo,” I confirmed my suspicion. When we talked about remodeling the Scouts HQ, his office had never come into the conversation when it severely needed to.
The water shut off and my gaze snapped to the door of the bathroom. He takes quick showers for someone who was slightly incapacitated. I wonder how long they took him when he was back to normal. Showers should be savored, not rushed; that was my opinion.
The door opened and I just turned the random book of his desk open to pretend I was reading. It was something about the history of Scout maneuvers but I couldn’t understand a thing. He had to know I was lying to him.
“You cleaned?” I glanced quickly up at him and looked back down at the book. Oh gods. He was smiling. Not a smirk or a smile after he insulted me; a heartwarming, genuine smile. Another one worth ten points at least. I wanted to look back up at him. If he smiled like that again, this whole emotionless façade of mine was going to break easily.
He walked over to the small foot rest that was in front of his desk and sat down slowly to face me. I just kept staring at the pictures in the book finally discovering that the Os were Scouts and the Xs were titans.
“Interesting book?” I turned the page and nodded, lying to him. This page didn’t have a picture so I’d have to pretend to be interested in the words.
“Can you even understand what that’s saying?” I’d been caught. I acted like I had finished the page before closing the book and setting it aside. This time, I felt like I was at an appropriate distance to look at him. That was a mistake because he was still smiling at me and I felt my insides melt. He was doing it on purpose. The defensive strategy that I made while he was shower disappeared too.
“No,” I answered truthfully and took in his form. He had put the bandages on himself, thank gods, and was sitting completely straight so as to not hurt his ribs. His face was smooth again, but his hair had grown almost past the tip of his nose. Even like this, he looked so handsome. I leaned back in the chair and started twiddling my thumbs, looking down at them.
“You cut your hair?” He was observant. I coughed before answering.
“I do at the beginning of every year.”
“Are you sick?” His voice was filled with concern and not the tone of ‘If you say yes, I’ll kick you out’.
“A cold.”
“So you haven’t been taking care of yourself.” There was no tea to sip in place of answering his statement. Those words brought back a bit of anger though. The effects of his smile didn’t last long.
“If you cared, why didn’t you come back then?” He sighed and rested one leg over the other like he always does.
“I was sca-”
“Don’t say you were scared. You’ve used that excuse before. Find something original.” It was a lot easier to yell at him when I wasn’t looking at him.
“I didn’t know how to respond.” I clenched my fists. I knew that when I kissed him, but it still made me mad. He was a grown man.
“Usually when someone kisses you, you have two options. Respond back or tell them you don’t want that. You don’t run away from them.” He groaned which made my anger even worse. He didn’t know how to respond to anything I was saying and that made him frustrated too.
“C-Can you come sit next to me?” I looked up at him for the first time, my eyes hardening with emotion.
“No, I won’t.” I didn’t dare get close to him again.
“Eva,” he pleaded and I shook my head again.
“I’m not playing this game anymore, Levi. I’m not going to play pretend with you and ignore the reality of things.” He stood up again slowly.
“Look at this. At me. This is reality. I almost died out on the field because I was thinking about you and not the titans! I called you here to show you that because I don’t think you know how bad things can get.” I raised an eyebrow at him and crossed my arms.
“Are you saying I’m a distraction?” He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration again. No, sir, I was the one who could be frustrated.
“No, I’m not saying that. I’m saying that I almost died because of one small slip up. Who knows what could happen on the next expedition? You don’t know what it’s like to be outside of the walls or to see people die to the left and right of you! I’m always next.” I glared at him.
“Maybe if we didn’t spend so much time in our pretend little world, you could’ve told me so I understand. Maybe you’d know about my life in the Underground and how you’re completely wrong about me not knowing how bad things can get. You’re the one who did this to yourself!” I hit his desk with my fist and stood up to match him. I wasn’t going to back down. His face went blank again, back into the calculating Captain Levi, not the one who seemed to blurt out things when the emotion came too much for him to know how to deal with it.
“I don’t… ”
“You’re afraid of yourself. If you let yourself really do what you want, it’ll break the little pretend world you’ve made. The one where you’re emotionless and in control of every part of yourself and the people below you. You can’t push away reality and keep playing pretend with me.” He gripped his fist.
“I’m not playing pretend.”
“Then who are you when you’re sitting on my couch?”
“Levi.”
“Levi or Captain Levi?” He shook his head like it didn’t matter the difference.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“They’re two different people. Right now, you’re being Captain Levi. You’re calculating down to your next syllable and not letting yourself say what you want. When you’re Levi, you talk freely and smile and laugh. That’s why we never talk about your life or the Scouts, because you feel you can never talk freely around me about those things. You don’t need to protect me.” He looked down at the floor again, calculating what to say next. It was so frustrating that he couldn’t just speak like he was previously. He always had to be in control.
“Scouts die everyday. There’s no guarantee that I’ll come back. And when I’m back, there’s no guarantee that I can come and see you. I have paperwork and training and duties I have to humanity first. I will always be Captain Levi before I am Levi… since you see a difference in the two.” That changed the pace I was going at. I was going to continue to yell at him, but those last works…
“I’m not going to hold myself back because I’m afraid of what could happen. I recognize there are things I can and can’t control and I live with it. No one can live like that. You would never be a Scout if you lived like that. You would never be a Captain if you hesitated on every move or order you made. Right now, you’re eating yourself up inside because you want to control everything and can’t admit it to yourself that you can’t!” I squeezed my eyes shut, not caring if my words hurt him in any way. It was the truth.
“What will you do when I die?” My eyes shot open and locked with his. That emotion was there again. The sliver of something I could never put my finger on. The soft tone of his voice matched it. When?
“I believe in you enough to know that day will never come.” Apparently, that was the wrong answer and it made him lean forward, grasping the edge of the desk hard enough to make his fingers white. He was only a few inches away from me, but my anger clouded over the want to lean in and taste him again. Did he taste like tea?
“I’ll ask you one more time. What will you do when I die?” I shook my head at him, denying his death, and this time he hit the desk with his injured fist, “Why do you have so much blind faith in people? In me?”
“I was given a second chance at life because an old man had faith in a little Underground girl with burned hands. I believe everyone should be given the same. You haven’t done anything for me to lose faith in you. I don’t go out to see you off on expeditions because I know I’ll see you when you get back.” He seemed to almost collapse down in one big breath, his head between his straight arms, hands still gripping the edge of the desk.
The air in his office was tense. No one had probably ever talked to him like I had just did and my words probably matched the internal dialogue he’s had with himself. He knows that I’m right and that he’ll break down on the inside if he keeps trying to strive for total control.
I stood there looking at the back of his head, waiting for him to speak up. His hands kept clenching and unclenching the edge of the desk like he was thinking everything over again. The fact that he couldn’t control the his emotions in this situation, no matter how hard he tried, was probably beating him to death on the inside. Was he sad because once he rejected me, he’d lose the pretend world where he can relax and there isn’t a need to strive for control? Was he angry at me for speaking to him like that?
“I think I have feelings for you. I’m just apprehensive.” My eyes widened and I looked down at him, still crouched over at the other end of the desk. That wasn’t the emotion I thought he was experiencing. My heart was beating so hard he could probably hear it too. He just… I didn’t expect this to be the outcome of the night.
“What will you do when I die? Just answer the question.” This was his apprehension. He’s had to move on constantly from people who’ve died, outside the wall or under it. He’s strong, but he didn’t know how strong I could be. I’ve watched people die too. I’ve had to say goodbye countless times. I had to make sure he knew I could deal with pain and hurt as well, and not just my own.
“I’ll give you a nice funeral, wait a year, then move on to Commander Erwin.” The tension broke and he let out a huff of air in laughter before standing up. His eyes were back to normal, but this time a lot softer than when he was walking down the street. It wasn’t indifference, it was just from being relaxed.
“I can’t abandon my duty as a Captain. If I have work to do, that comes first.”
“Understandable.”
“It might be months on end where you won’t be able to see me.”
“I guess I’ll just have to get a mistress.” He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. The orange light from the sun setting behind us made it so I couldn’t stop staring at him now.
“I’m being serious here, Eva.” I sat back down in his chair, crisscrossed, still struck with his face.
“So am I, Levi.”
“I require monogamy.” I think that was him trying to make a joke so I indulged.
“I guess I can live with that. The bakery keeps me busy enough. If I have orders to fill out, that comes first.” I mimicked him and a small smirk crept up onto his face. That’s how I knew he was completely back.
“Understandable, but slightly saddening you put baked goods above me.” There was a knock at the door. He rolled his eyes and went over to answer it. I made sure I was out of sight of the door.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing disturbing my sleep, cadet? Can’t you see my state? I should make you clean the stables for waking me up.” I could hear the nervousness in the cadet’s voice when he answered.
“I-I-I’m so… sorry, Captain! I didn’t know you were sleeping! Squad leader Zoë told me to bring you this!” There seemed to be an exchange of plates and the cadet was still shaking as Levi turned back into the room/
“Dismissed. Don’t come knocking this late again.” He kicked the door closed in front of the cadet saluting him and walked to the desk with two plates of food.
“I see now where the mean rumors come from. He was just delivering food.” He set the place down in front of me, ignoring my comment.
“Not Erwin.” He pulled the ottoman over so he could eat at his desk too. I smiled spooning some curry.
“Why not? I’m trying to climb the ranks.” He shook his head again.
“If you think I’m too calculated, then you’d hate him. That book you were pretending to read, he’s probably gone through that six or seven times. He stays up till dawn thinking about where a single person should ride in our formation to maximize titan spotting. He’ll have no time for you.” I pulled a face and he lightly laughed. Actually laughed.
“I guess I’m just stuck with you, Captain.”

“(Y/n), come on, please?” Eric pleaded, his head tilted like a wounded puppy. He's been following you around the hall for the past ten minutes, pestering you for yet another favor.
Pretending not to hear, you plugged your earphones one by one as you walked, continuously ignoring his attempts at aegyo, “Sorry, I can't hear you!”
He groaned, rolling his eyes before rushing in long strides to stop you in your path. Eric extends his arms out, blocking your every attempt to move past him. His lips jut into a pout. “Come on, just one favor. One!”
“Just one favor-” You mocked, imitating his tone. “Yeah, I heard that one before.” Grinning, you shoved him playfully, before going your own way.
Eric grumbled as he grabbed his phone out of his pocket. Quickly, he sent a message to their newly made group chat.

“Heads up!” Jacob shouted, passing the ball towards him before Haknyeon could steal.
Juyeon usually hung out on the open basketball court after school with his friends, Hyunjae, Jacob and Haknyeon.
Dribbling the ball between his hands, Juyeon kept his eyes on Hyunjae’s, looking for a way past him. The latter held a solid defense, reaching every now and then to attempt a steal. For a moment, the older’s gaze wavered and it didn’t take long for Juyeon to seize the opportunity. He pivoted, turning by the ball of his foot before running towards the other direction. With no other guards, his way towards the basket was clear. So, he jumped and shot the ball with a flick of his wrist.
The soft whoosh of the ball going through the net echoed throughout the court.
“Break! I need a break.” Haknyeon said in between heavy breaths. He sprawled on the ground with Jacob opting to lay beside him.
Juyeon sat on the bench, a smug smile plastered on his features. “Good game.” He nodded towards Hyunjae. He grabbed a bottle of water and took a swig.
Hyunjae's phone chimed. Making sure to keep the screen facing away from Juyeon, he opened the group chat. After reading the contents, it took all his willpower to resist the urge to facepalm in front of everyone.
ERIC
YES I AM HER BESTFRIEND
but that’s not important
wHAT WILL WE DO NOW??
Drops of water spilled on the ground, catching Hyunjae's attention.
“Shit-” Juyeon cursed, crouching down to pick up the bottle. But his eyes were nowhere near the ground.
Ah, Hyunjae thought. That's why.
You were walking just outside the court, with books held close to your chest.
Juyeon goes still at the sight of you, his grip on the bottle tightening with each second that passes. His gaze held steady until you were out of sight. Only then did he blink, bringing himself back to reality.
“Man, if you wanted her back, staring isn't gonna do the trick.” Haknyeon said, shaking his head.
“You could, you know, actually talk to her?” Jacob suggested, “Maybe she's still hung over you too.”
“I'm not hung over her!” Juyeon denied, his easy smile becoming a frown upon hearing their words. “Besides,” He muttered, “We broke up a year ago. There's no way she's still into me.”
Hyunjae glanced towards his other friends, who had the same thought. Yeah, right.
ERIC
We better think of a new plan quick!!
YOUNGHOON
She just entered the library!!
An idea popped into Hyunjae's head. Slowly, his lips twitched into a grin as he sent a text.
HYUNJAE
Leave it to me
_
“Juyeon.”
He inclined his head towards the direction of his caller, showing a small smile. A nice, cool shower after a game always puts him in a pleasant mood, even after seeing an ex he may or may not still be into. “Yeah?”
“Would you mind grabbing my notebook from the library? I'd get it myself but my roommate texted me. Says it's urgent.” Hyunjae asked, scratching the back of his nape.
Juyeon closed his gym locker then turned around to face his friend. “But isn't the library closed at this hour?”
“The student part-timer would still be there by this time. He'd let you in.”
“Alright, I'll get it.”
Hyunjae grinned, mostly out of satisfaction. Their plan was in motion, and neither of the two knew a single thing.
After a short walk, Juyeon arrived in the library, a huge hall stacked with different kinds of books. The hall seemed colder when it was closed, the lights were dimmed and the seats usually occupied by busy students were empty. The library wasn't a place he visited often, so he found himself looking around longer than he should.
“Hey, Juyeon. What do you need?” Younghoon asked, cleaning up his work area. He looked ready to leave.
“Ah, I came to pick up what Hyunjae left behind. I was wondering where he might have been.”
“Check the reference section.”
“Thanks.”
He sauntered towards the seemingly endless shelves. Hundreds of wooden ledges holding hefty tomes. Juyeon focused on the label on each section, avoiding the charts and tables that contain information that would make his head spin.
“Circulation, periodicals…” Juyeon read to himself as he passed each sign. It wasn't until he walked by a hundred more shelves that finally, he reached the reference section.
Immediately, he rushed towards the reading area and scanned the tables for any notebook that was left behind.
Instead of a notebook, a familiar, not to mention equally surprised, face greeted him.
“The library's closed. What are you doing here?” You asked, after a few seconds of awkward silence.
Once the shock faded, you wore an expression of indifference, trying to hide the fact that your heart wanted to beat out of your chest.
Juyeon gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing as he searched for words. “I could say the same for you.” He retorted.
“Younghoon is my friend too. He lets me stay after hours to do some research.” You said, your voice sounding harder, as if angry.
“Well, I just came to pick up Hyunjae's notebook. Then I'll be out of your hair.”
Hyunjae's notebook? You thought, your eyebrows furrowing. “How could he leave his notebook? He was never here.”
He must have seen your expression because he seemed confused as well. Slowly, the two of you realize what your friends have done. The weight of each other's presence dawns on you both, and none of you have an idea what to do.
Juyeon takes a step closer, daring to make the first move. “Listen to me…”
“Juyeon, please.” You said, cutting him off. Your voice threatens to shake, but you keep it steady, not wanting to break. “We broke up a year ago. You don't owe me anything. Not an apology, not this conversation.”
“You don't want me here.” He said, his resolve crumbling at your words. “Fine, I'll leave.”
You barely nodded, putting all your attention back on your book. You tried to block out the echoes of his footsteps as he walked away.
No, the truth was you weren't over Juyeon. How could you be? Everyday, you see him around campus. You can't help but miss his smile, his laugh and his warmth whenever he held you in his arms. Every memory you shared was still vivid in your mind, and thinking about them was like rubbing salt on an open wound.
You don't remember why you broke up, not exactly. Perhaps you both weren't ready, maybe you needed space to grow.
But the funny thing is, space did nothing except make you want him more. So much more that it hurts.
Your train of thought gets interrupted by the urgency in Juyeon's voice as he shouted. “Hey, (y/n). You might want to check this out.”
Curious, you hurried towards him. You stopped in your path when you finally saw Juyeon. A cold wave of panic washed over you when you find him fiddling with the knob on the door.
“What's going on?” You asked, slowly taking a step closer.
“The door won't budge.”
“Very funny, Juyeon. Open it.”
“I am!”
You make your way towards the door, shoving him off the knob. You tightly grasp it, twisting it with all your strength. It won't move.
“It's stuck.” You hissed, kicking the door out of frustration. Immediately, you recoil, the pain of the impact taking you aback. “Ow!”
Before you could fall on your ass, Juyeon held his arms out, pulling you close to his chest. “You okay?”
“Fine.” You squeaked, pushing yourself off of him before he could see your reddening cheeks. “How do we get out?”
He took a couple of steps back before taking his phone out. “Hold on, I'll text our friends.”
You simply nodded before leaning on the counter.
JUYEON
I hate all of you
Now get us out of here
YOUNGHOON
No way
ERIC
We're tired of your whining
Both of you
HYUNJAE
No one's getting out until you patch things up
ERIC
You have all night !!! ; )
YOUNGHOON
ERIC NO
I don't wanna clean any messes
HYUNJAE
Gross
Soooo yea
you're stuck there
HAVE FUN
Juyeon groaned before keeping his phone in his pocket. He sat on a chair across from where you were standing. “We have useless friends.” He said, sighing.
“Yeah, I thought as much.”
Again, an awkward silence settled in the room. Both of you had much to say, but neither had the nerve to attempt anything, much less bridge the gap that had formed over the past few months.
“I'm cold.” was all you could say.
Juyeon's expression softened, his dark eyes filling with worry as he remembered how cold you easily get. He shrugged off his jacket and handed it to you, still keeping a careful distance. “Here.”
“Thanks.” You nodded gratefully before taking it from his hand. A familiar, comforting scent washed over you as you placed his coat on your shoulders. Perhaps it wasn't just the jacket, but you felt warmer already.
“Can we talk now?” Juyeon asked, turning his eyes to the floor as he took in a sharp breath, as if preparing himself for rejection.
You nodded, “It's not like we have anything better to do.”
“Right.” He chuckled, combing his fingers through his hair as he finally made eye contact with you. “How have you been?”
Good. But probably better with you. You thought. “Busy.” You replied instead. “I've had a couple of projects here and there, so I've been occupied. How about you?”
“The same.” He nodded, his eyes drilling onto yours, as if reading your thoughts. You wish he couldn't. Otherwise, he'd know how much you were holding yourself back.
His lips formed a soft, sad smile. “You look great, by the way. Our time apart was good to you.”
“Then, it must have been good to you too,” You admitted, shifting your gaze down towards your fingers, which were nervously fidgeting on the hem of your shirt. You could feel the intensity of his stare, even when you weren't looking. “You can move closer if you like.”
“Like this?” He asked, standing up to take a step closer.
You shook your head, noting the amused tone in Juyeon's voice. “Closer.”
He moved a few inches closer, and yet he was still out of arms reach. “This close?”
You lift your chin up, daring to look him in the eye as you uttered the next words. “Come as close as you want.”
Suddenly, everything was a blur. A moment ago, he was across from you, staring with a gaze intense enough to make anyone feel small. Now, he had you pinned on the counter, trapping you in between his arms. Your eyes were like magnets, not one daring to break contact.
You could feel his every breath brush over your face. Yet somehow, you felt he wasn't close enough.
“Can I kiss you?” Juyeon whispered, his gaze flitting over to your lips.
“Please.”
You felt your breath catch as he leans closer. Your eyes flutter shut when you feel his lips press firmly on yours. The sound of your beating heart faded in the background, and all you can think about was how soft his lips were when they moved in sync with yours, and how his arms slowly wrapped themselves around your waist, holding you flush against his body.
As for Juyeon, he could hardly believe that he was talking to you again, let alone kissing you in an empty library. His mind was blank and all he could feel was your fingers pulling on his hair as you claimed his mouth hungrily. He felt weak as you moved against each other, finally realizing how much he wanted this for so damn long, but then again, he had always been weak for you. You could ask for the world and he'd give it to you on a silver platter.
With heaving breaths, you both pull away, opting to press your forehead against each others. You look at him and you see his mussed hair and swollen lips, you could imagine that you looked the same, probably worse. But you didn't care, you just kissed Juyeon, and you were happy about it.
“I've wanted to do that again for so long.” He admitted between breaths, his lips curling into a shy smile.
“Me too,” You whispered, offering a smile of your own.
“What does this mean for us?” He asked, his eyes searching yours for an answer he wants to hear. “I want to make us work. I was so stupid to let you go.”
“So stupid,” You nodded, resisting the urge to smile, “Let's try again, Juyeon.”
He leaned in for a soft peck on your lips, trailing a finger on your cheek as he smiled with eyes only for you.
You don't remember falling asleep. But you do recall cuddling on one of the library's loveseats, sharing whispers and long, slow kisses in the dead of night.
_
“IT WORKED. OUR PLAN WORKED!”
“Shh. You're in a library, Eric. Shut up.”
Eric's voice made you jump. Your eyes snapped open and you sat straight up, startling Juyeon, who rolled off and fell on the hard floor.
“Ugh- what's going on?” He groaned, nursing his shoulder, which took most of the impact.
You rubbed the sleep away from your eyes and gasped at the sight of your friends grinning stupidly at the two of you.
“Did you have fun last night?” Hyunjae teased, wiggling his eyebrows.
You ignored them and gave Juyeon a peck on the cheek, “I gotta go shower. I have class. I'll see you later.”
He nodded and watched you leave, but not before seeing you flip the finger towards your friends, who responded with laughter.
“So, how was it?” Younghoon asked, his eyes scanning his tangled hair and puffy lips. “I'm guessing you patched things up.”
“I'm not doing any of you a favor ever again.” Juyeon said, before sighing. “But… thanks.”
A huge cheer erupted from his group of friends, and Juyeon tried not to be embarrassed from the sharp glares they received from various sleep-deprived students occupying the library.
But he let his friends have their moment, he owed them after all.

To say that it was her fifth mental breakdown of the day was an understatement.
Y/n was preparing the report that her boss had asked her as the last part of her application for the job. It was just a simple story that she would later have to present on the live show right after Yunho’s. She had decided to talk about important women around the world as she felt confident in that area. She knew a lot about the topic of feminism and the importance of speaking up. That, however, didn’t spare her from feeling like a total failure when she asked Hongseok to proofread the script for her and he made a face.
“Are you sure you are not going to go off at a tangent if you talk about this topic? You know that your speech should flow, and when you are talking about something that you are passionate about or you know a lot of, you usually beat about the bush”
“What do you suggest? Changing the topic last minute?” she whined, plopping down Hongseok’s couch, right next to him.
“Narrow it down. You’re being too general here. Be more specific and don’t talk just to show off”
“Got it” y/n snatched the paper away from her friend and went back to her ‘workplace’ — Hongseok’s kitchen table.
Editing scripts was the part that she hated the most. Her usual job rarely involved that, because she was in charge of doing the research, checking and double-checking sources and outlining the report. Sometimes she wrote them just to avoid loosing that side of the job, but her department co-workers were the ones who proofread and corrected the script multiple times, not y/n.
That’s why she was staying the night at Hongseok’s. He was an expert in that field, his job as a script-writer for the Night Show helping him improve his skills more and more with every new story. What took the man a couple of hours to finish, took y/n her whole Saturday afternoon, and if it wasn’t for him, she would probably spend her entire weekend crying over her script.
“How’s that going?” Hongseok approached her from behind, placing his arms around her waist and his chin on her shoulder, rapidly scanning the words on her screen.
“Check yourself” she yawned, throwing her head backwards and accommodating it on the space between his neck and shoulder.
“Why don’t you have a warm shower? I have already called the pizza place and it won’t take long for them to arrive”
The girl sleepily nodded and left the chair as soon as her friend released her. He took her seat to keep reading her script, so she moved quickly to the bathroom. Now undressed and with the water warming up, she stretched her back, putting her hair up on a messy bun that prevented it from getting soaked. As soon as she entered the steamy shower, her mind took off.
And it landed on Jeong Yunho. Was that even necessary? She scoffed, turning around to make the hot water ease some of the back pain.
She would never admit it, but back then she had had a massive crush on him. Who would blame her, though? He was the most handsome man around campus, and he was all the time smiling. He had that special grin of his that lit up the darkest room.
But he had never showed that side of his to her. Maybe because she was his only competition in college who could actually beat his perfect records, or maybe because she was all the time with Hongseok. The truth was that Yunho had always avoided and ignored her every time she had dared to speak to him outside college hours.
So it had come as a surprise seeing him at the Seoul Morning News’ building two years before. She had been working there for a couple of months, and all of her ex-classmates knew that thanks to Hongseok, who proudly told the world about her rapid success. Why would he ever apply for a job that involved working with a person he hates? She never understood that, but at the same time didn’t even bother to question his decision.
An hour later and with a full stomach, y/n was all spread on Hongseok’s couch, her head on his thigh and his hands massaging her scalp “You’re too good to me, Hongie” she whispered, hugging his leg.
“I just love you” he replied. Out of shock, she sat up in a matter of milliseconds and looked at him with wide eyes “Don’t be silly. Not like that” he laughed, patting her head “I love you as a friend, and I love fucking you as a friend too”
“I saw my life flashing in front of my eyes for a second” she heavily breathed out, placing her hand on her chest, right on her heart.
“I’m sorry” he grinned, placing a soft kiss on her lips “I like messing around with you sometimes”
“Sometimes?” she raised one eyebrow, sitting on his lap and straddling his waist with her legs.
“Well, that depends what kind of ‘messing’ you are referring to” he smirked, rubbing his hands up and down her lower back.
“Why don’t you show me?”
“My pleasure, hun”
Tumblr media
“I messed up” she cried, holding her phone with shaky hands “I messed up so bad, Hong”
“Why? What happened?” his concern was tangible even through the phone.
“I went blank for I don’t know how long. I completely forgot about my script and had to improvise a section of it. It was terrible. I’m a failure, and I’m not going to get the job at all. He was perfect. Yunho was amazing, as he always is. And I won’t blame Mr. Jung when he chooses him because he deserves that place more than anyone in here” y/n sobbed, sitting down on her desk, feeling how the shame and humiliation drowned her in tears.
“Y/n, I’m sure you’re just exagg-”
“I’m not, Hongseok! It was the worst thing I have ever done. I messed up and I know that. I missed the chance to get the job of my dreams. And I will never get another one of this”
When she decided that it was time to let her friend do his job in peace, she realized that she could not to go back outside of her office and face her co-workers who were expecting her to keep on her daily work without recomposing herself first. With heavy steps, she entered her little toilet and removed all of her make up. Washing it off and doing it again was the only reasonable option. Some minutes later, she found herself looking way better, but just hoping for her puffy eyes to go back to normal in a couple of hours top.
She left her office with her heard high but avoiding eye contact. It was hard to admit, but she knew that all of them had seen her embarrass herself in front of their boss. How was she supposed to come back from that? Her reputation was a joke right now.
“Miss Lee, I want to speak with you for a second”
Her eyes opened widely upon hearing her boss’ voice behind her. She turned around in a slow manner, reminding herself not to cry in front of him “Sure” Following the petit man to his office, she took some deep breaths to keep her heart from pounding that hard against her chest.
“So” Mr. Jung spoke up once they were settled “How do you feel?”
Y/n heavily exhaled and looked down, playing with the end of her black pencil skirt, a bad habit of hers when she felt anxious “I could have done much better”
“I believe just the same, my dear. I understand that you were nervous, though. It felt the same for me when I was the one being tried, so don’t worry too much. I know your potential” the man smiled, leaning over his desk “That’s why I’m giving you the job”
She had to have heard him wrong. He was giving her the position after messing up like that on her one and only chance? Was he even there when she went blank on national television?
“Wha-” she cut herself off, feeling how a thousand different emotions flowed inside her body.
“You showed me that you have the skills to be in front of the camera with a script, and without one. It was impressive, how in a matter of seconds you were able to keep on talking with Taeki about the issue like nothing had happened, like you never got lost in your own world”
“But I did get lost” she mumbled, feeling the tears blurring her vision once again.
“So what? It is not about following the script all the time, y/n. You are a professional when you know how to manage, how to get yourself out of a problem in just seconds. Everyone is talking about that, and you should be proud of yourself”
“I… I can’t believe this” she let out a laugh, completely out in disbelief.
“And you know what? You were so good that even Yunho decided to let you have the job”
The tears that had gathered in her eyes fell down her face altogether upon hearing Mr. Jung’s confession “What?” y/n asked, completely out of shock.
“As you hear it. He came to me an hour or so after we finished, and told me that you deserved the job more than he did. That you were capable of that and even more. I didn’t know that you went to college together! You didn’t seem like you were friends to me”
“We are not friends, Mr. Jung” y/n shook her head, drying her tears with the back of her hand “I can’t believe he told you that”
“Me neither. He seemed really enthusiastic about this job last week. But anyways, congratulations! Your training starts tomorrow. We have just a few days to get you ready to be our new news’ anchor”
Tumblr media
She left that office with the most contradicting feelings she had ever felt. Of course, she was overjoyed. The fucking job of her damned dreams was hers! She had failed the task, but she got it despite of it. However, the fact that Yunho had given up his chance just to let her have it was not leaving her heart anytime soon. Why would he do that? He would never abandon such an opportunity just because she deserved it. Who thought like that nowadays? Who was that selfless?
Apparently, Yunho was. So she decided to wait for him outside the building three hours later. She knew he had the same schedule as Jaehyun, who always left half an hour after her.
Winter was her favourite season. Wearing long coats and fluffy scarves was her most enjoyable activity. But sometimes, having snow falling on her when she was out and about bothered her a little. Not like she was willing to admit that, especially to Hongseok, who defended summer with all of his passion. Luckily for her, the hot chocolate cups that she was holding kept her hands warm.
Just when she was about to leave, assuming that Yunho had left earlier, she distinguished his large frame going out of the building. He was busy putting on his gloves, so he never realized she was standing right next to him. She faked a cough, and it took a couple more to make him aware of her presence.
“Oh-sorry! My mind was somewhere else. How are you?” he smiled at her, and this time, it felt real. He had no second intentions, no secret plans. Just a genuine smile.
“I’m happy” she admitted, a little smile plastered on her own lips “Mr. Jung gave me the job”
“Right! I heard about that. Congratulations, y/n, you really deserve it. And I mean it”
“You know…” she replied, tearing her eyes away from his, which were looking at her with great intensity “He told me that you gave up the job”
Maybe it was because of the cold, but Yunho’s cheeks were painted a deep shade of pink. He looked across the street, shoving his hands on his coat’s pockets, and fought back a nervous smile.
“Why would you do that?” she pushed, taking advantage of his panicky state.
“You were the best candidate out of the two of us”
“That’s not what I want, Yunho” she scoffed “You made it clear that you would fight for the job, and that you always won. What happened today?”
“Nothing”
Y/n sighed. He was a hard one.
“Yunho, don’t be like that. I messed up and you did an outstanding job. You were the one who deserved that position, and you know that. So why? Why would you give it up?”
“I heard you crying” he confessed, looking at her right in the eye “I heard you when you told Hongseok that it was your dream job, and I just couldn’t do it. How awful as a person would I be to tear your dreams apart when I have the power to just help them become a reality? I know that you think of me as a selfish, competitive bastard. But I’m not like that. It was just-”
“A façade” she interrupted him, feeling how her eyes flooded with tears “But you just put it out for me”
Yunho sighed, and cursed with a deep mumble.
“It’s okay” y/n shook her head, fighting the tears back “You don’t have to explain anything. I get that you don’t like m-”
“It’s not that, y/n, it’s not that at all” the boy took his hands out of his pockets and placed them on the sides of her arms.
“Really, Yunho, don’t worry about that. I just wanted to thank you. I’m not sure if I deserve that but I’ll make sure not to let you down” she exhaled heavily, taking a step back in order to leave “Oh! I almost forgot” she extended one of her arms towards him “This is for you. I know that you don’t like coffee so I bought hot chocolate instead. As a thank you” she smiled weakly.
And with that she left Yunho behind, standing all by himself under the falling snow, and looking at the paper cup with disbelief. She had remembered.

— setups, haunted houses, and confessions
Tumblr media
characters; daichi sawamura, gn! reader
synopsis; after being set up by sugawara, a pining captain and a smitten team manager stumble their way through a very unplanned ‘date’
total w/c; 2154
warnings; a little mentioned of (implied) fake blood, and i mention clowns and zombies like once, just some normal haunted house stuff. otherwise nothing but awkward pinning here
「 a/n 」 requested by @girlontumblur! so i obviously failed at getting this out like i wanted (i went back and edited last minute smh) 😔🤚 but it’s here now! 😼😼 and i hope this does decent because although it doesn’t flow as well as i wanted it to, i still kinda like it lmao. anyways, daichi simps unite 🤝 enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you honestly should’ve known something was up the second sugawara approached you after practice with a sly grin plastered on his annoyingly pretty face. you should've known when everyone texted the team group chat with last minute cancelations or excuses for running late. and you definitely should’ve known when daichi was the only one you found sitting at the planned meeting spot. but, you didn’t and neither did he.
now you two were sat alone on the small blue bench. daichi had one of his hands tucked into the pocket of his thick army green jacket and the other hand scrolling through the same group chat you were looking at minutes prior. the two of you had agreed to wait for a little in hopes that maybe one or two other team members might show up. but unbeknownst to either party, both of you also hoped someone would show up and save you the pain of embarrassing yourself in front of the person you had been pining after for nearly three years. daichis phone pinged, interrupting the awkward silence. it was a text from suga and daichi can feel the tips of his ears grow warm as he reads the message;
have fun on your date! ;) -suga
of course it was suga. he shouldn’t have expected anything less from his scheming vice captain. how he got the whole team to go along with it, is a mystery he decides to leave for another day when he hears you speak up from your spot next to him.
“is anyone else coming?” he’s thrown out of his thoughts when he feels you nudge his shoulder with yours and sees you nod to his phone. he quickly turns it off and pockets it before he turns his attention to you completely.
“i don’t think so, asahi was the last one to check in and he just canceled,” he sighs and shoves his other hand in his pocket. you two have been close friends for years, but a few recent incidents, (perhaps incited by suga now that he thinks about it…) have left you walking on eggshells around each other. all in attempt to not admit your feelings, the same feelings that are completely obvious to everyone except yourselves.
“oh.. well, i don’t mind if you don’t?” you wring your hands together in your lap as you look at him.
“yeah, yeah of course not. we’re already here aren’t we?” he gives you that big, warm smile you love so much. it’s practically infectious as you feel a wide grin spread across your face too. “lets go, yeah?” he stands up from the bench, and doesn’t hesitate to offer you his hand. you happily allow him to help hoist you up off the bench, but have to resist the urge to intertwine your fingers with his.
the walk to the pumpkin farm and haunted house combination is only about fifteen minutes, but the awkward silence from before is gone. replaced by comfortable conversation about your responsibilities as team captain and manager respectively, funny stories about your friends or talk about your shared classes. you’re so involved with the conversation neither of you notice the way you walk with your shoulders pressed together. maybe it’s a subconscious pull to one another or maybe just an attempt to escape the chill of the late fall air.
upon your arrival, you can see the towering entrance archway, made of large sticks and corn stalks. built up into a curve with twinkle lights woven throughout. it welcomes you into the family owned farm turned halloween attraction. underneath the arch, families enter and exit, some with children in their costumes and some with parents carrying pumpkins. some young couples and teenage friend groups pass through as well. the small apple cider stand surrounded by hale bales emits that sweet spiced scent that so perfectly encapsulates autumn.
the original “plan” as stated by suga was to just go through the haunted house together and get some food together, just some team bonding. but without the lovable burden of the entire karasuno volleyball club with you, it’s easy for you and daichi to leisurely make your way around the entire farm and participate in all of it’s available activities. you made your way through a hay bale maze together. it may have been meant for children but you had fun regardless, laughing when you got separated and teasing each other when you hit a dead end. you got the treat of watching daichi attempt to bob for apples, and get nothing except for a slightly damp shirt collar.
you even purchased a bag of animal feed for you and daichi to share. you went around petting and feeding goats and a few chickens. at some point you reached into the small brown paper bag right when daichi did. your fingers brushed his and you both pulled back like you had been burned. each of you flusteredly spitting out apologies, until he takes a deep breath, chuckles and shakes head, telling you not to worry about it and it’s no big deal. his strong voice and calm words are a stark contrast to his worried apologies just seconds earlier, but it’s enough for you to relax and continue on with the afternoon.
eventually, daichi leads you to sit down across from him at a wooden table and you’re quick to fall into comfortable conversation. all while the warmth of the apple cider he had just bought you seeps into your fingers and keeps them warm.
if you didn’t doubt yourself so much, you would’ve thought this felt exactly like some sort of date happening. the two of you together, spending time doing things any real couple would. at the same time, similar thoughts raced through daichis mind. he thought about how much this must look like a date to any people passing, and how much he really did wish that was the case. to be able to call you his own and take you out on cute dates like this whenever you wanted. too concerned with his cheeks dusting red at the thought, he fails to notice the similar blush presenting itself on your face.
it’s so easy to get caught up as you keep talking with daichi, you don’t notice the sun starting to set and you don’t even catch him gazing at you with that soft look in his eyes.
you crack a joke during your story about some of tanaka and noyas shenanigans and he laughs. he laughs this hearty, bright laugh that makes your chest tighten and your own smile widen. i’d like to make him laugh like that for the rest of my life you think.
“you know, i’m a little relieved. with the entire team here it would’ve been hectic to say the least,” he lets out another laugh at the thought of the whole club wreaking havoc on the poor farm, “and you know… i’m glad i got to spend time with you too. it was nice and i’m having a really good time” his soft smile is just as sincere as his words.
“i did too, daichi. thank you for today, i really had fun” you smile back at him and take a sip of your cider.
“ah ah! don’t say thank you yet, y/n. we’ve still got one last thing to do,” he shoves a thumb over his shoulder in the direction of the haunted house. from your spot at the table you can see the flash of the strobe lights and artificial fog trickling from the attraction. “maybe we should go get in line?”
you nod, and he once again offers you his hand to help you stand. and just like before you resist the nagging push in the back of your mind to just intertwine your fingers with his. you make your way over, tossing your empty cider cups into the trash as you walk.
you purchase your tickets, or more so daichi buys both of them despite you insisting it’s your turn to pay after he bought cider, and get in the line of about ten people.
“you know i didn’t really consider the fact i wouldn’t have the whole team to hide behind anymore” you rock and back and forth on your feet, as you hear a couple of screams echo from inside the house.
“what, is your captain not big and strong enough to protect you?” he teases while flexing one arm.
“oh stop it, you know what i meant” you playfully roll your eyes and poke him in the ribs right before he swats your hand away.
“just remember, if you take me out now you won’t have anyone to hide behind” by now the line has moved up and there’s only two or three people in front of you.
they group in front of you goes and suddenly you and daichi are up next. the front of the haunted house is decaying and covered in those sticky store-bought cobwebs. you drop your tickets in the box and with a wave of their hand an employee motions you forward into the entrance.
you make your way through the halls of the attraction, going through different themed sections. a circus tent full of crazed clowns, a bloodied butchers shop, and zombies kept back by chain fences. each hall comes with its own set of spooks and scares. creepy sound effects, banging on the walls all around you and air machines puffing air into your face. you don’t even attempt to hide your terror as you scream and even grab onto daichis arm. he lets out his own shouts of fear, but manages to put on his tough act at least partially. you notice him place himself in front of you slightly as you walk, the arm you cling to held in front of your body protectively, although there was no true danger. you’d probably think something of it if you weren’t too distracted by the adrenaline pumping in your veins. it’s not all scary though, a couple of daichis screams make you giggle and act as momentary distraction from your surroundings. a particularly high pitched yelp of his has you gripping the back of his shirt, doubled over laughing. but a loud bang that rattles the wall next to your gives you a start and you keep venturing forward through the house.
you think you’re finally in the clear when you're walking down the hall that leads to the exit off the back of the house. you see an employee dressed in all black at the end directing people around the side of the house and back to the front. but it’s only when you feel your heartbeat start to slow that you hear the chainsaw start and the screams of the group behind you and daichi. you’re heartbeat picks up again and out of pure instinct you lurch forward. you make it out the hall and into the small gravel field behind before you realize daichi still had himself in front of you. you’re too late to react and go barreling into him. the momentum brings both of you tumbling forward into the gravel. you land halfway on top of him but his reflexes are much better than your own and they help keep you from going too far. one arm keeps you from rolling and the other cradles your head to his chest to prevent you from hitting it. the loud buzz of the chainsaw fades as the actor chases the friend group around the side of the house for a short distance. you immediately sit yourself up and attempt to apologize between labored breaths.
“oh god, daichi. i- i’m so sorry, i just heard the chainsaw and i started moving. i didn’t even think. i understand now why you don’t like me back now. i’m so sorry” you hang your head in apology, not even registering the words that slip from your mouth in your scramble to say sorry.
“what?” he asks, stunned.
“...what?” you echo back slowly before the realization hits you hard. you struggle to spit out an explanation and you feel your face heat up, “i just meant-”
daichis look of shock morphs into a soft smile as he cuts you off with another one of his warm laughs and uses the hand at the back of your neck to pull you down. his lips meet yours in a kiss thats just as warm and solid as him. he pulls away after a moment only to rest your foreheads together and smile at you softly
“does that mean?” you breathe out, smiling back hopefully.
“yes, yes it does,” he chuckles and stands up from the ground. daichi offers you his hand one last time, you take it and pull yourself up. but unlike any previous offers, you don’t hesitate to lace your fingers with his.

“I refuse,”
Those words left your mouth in an instant before the teacher could even finish her sentences. The person next to you took a glance at you before briefly shrugging. Your homeroom teacher looks between you and the male with a frown on her face,
“Don’t be like that [y/n], it’s only for a week. If you don’t have any reports about it, then we’ll get the higher grounds to deal with the case,”
“That’s, not the problem here, Miss Mochizuki. The ACTUAL problem that I have for this case though,”
You turned your head and glared slightly at the almost too familiar, fox-like eyes person with his hands messily tucked inside his jacket, “Is because he’s tagging along with me,”
Suna Rintarou.
One of the, no, the laziest person on the whole campus, might be even the entire land. There are a lot of reasons why you hated him. Suna’s always late to class and doesn’t even acknowledge the teacher nagging at him.
He always eats and sleeps in class whenever he can, not to mention that he’s absolutely irresponsible. You have a hard time trying to study, paying attention to what the teachers are saying with his figure draping over his desk from the corner of your eyes.
Or the loud and obnoxious sounds of him eating the chips he sneaked in. It’s driving you crazy every time, but that’s only the minor reasons.
The real reason you hold a grudge on this immature ‘Tibetan Sand Fox’ is because of that one freshman memory you had with him. Back when autumn already ended, you rolled onto the kingdom’s academies to pursue your career. But this man…
He really had to destroy your first impression in front of the whole academy. You’re on your way to go to your classroom to prepare for the ice breaking session, looking calm as ever.
Unlike this guy, he’s rushing to put his coat on and looks like he’s late for something. Suna at first glance, he looks like a pretty decent person and you’re going to admit that you did find him attractive at first.
The twinkling lights coming from his enchanting yellow irises and the mere look of his soft dark brown hair fits perfectly well with him. That’s what you thought before, until he bumped into you without looking and spilled the coffee in his hands to your shirt.
It stained the white material so badly and left a big spot right on your chest. Both of your eyes widened at that and caught each other’s eyes,
“Sorry,”
That was the last thing and only thing he said before walking away, leaving you to deal with the embarrassment alone. The surrounding students watched you with pity and whispered to each other rather than helping you clean up.
You can definitely feel your cheeks heating at the stares you’re getting, biting the insides of your mouth before quickly picking up the coffee lid that fell down from Suna’s cup and walking away to find the bathroom.
What’s even worse after that is you didn’t know where the bathroom is so you had to ask the students around, while still having the stain on your shirt.
Thankfully, it doesn’t take long for at least one of them to tell you the direction, giving you a nod of pity because of your condition now. You nodded at them back before speed walking towards the bathroom with your hand covering your face in humiliation.
At least you have spare clothes inside your bag and then after changing, you went on your way as if nothing ever happened before. But the memory still stuck inside your head like a magnet.
Now, you’re standing there with him besides you, because you got called by your homeroom teacher to ask you two for a favor.
From what she said, the lost souls from section 5 escaped and are now roaming the old academy’s library. And she had requested both you and Suna to find all 10 of them. Together.
Albeit knowing your situation with the male, she still pestered you to go with him as a ‘bonding’ moment to ease up the tension between you two. It annoys you, but Suna doesn’t seem to even care about it.
“I’d asked some other students from your class but they declined, and I can’t ask for your seniors because they’re preparing for an exam next month,”
You slightly massaged your temple in frustration, shutting your eyes while you’re at it. You can feel Suna’s stare creating a hole at the back of your head. You don’t really know what he’s thinking since you’re not a mind reader, but you can already tell that he’s looking at you as if you’re a fool in distress.
A groan escaped your lips before opening your eyes again and stare into Miss Mochizuki's eyes with a bored expression, “Fine,”
“I’ll do it,”
You can hear a slight cough coming from your left as you turn your head once again at the fox, “Correction, we’ll do it,”
His pupils shifted from you to your teacher while nodding a little. She clapped her hands in relief, the usual smile she has returning to her face, “Thank goodness, I hope you two stand by your statement and I better see your faces in the dining hall tomorrow,”
Before you can even respond, he cuts you off. Great, “No problem, and you can count on us of course,”
You scoffed, more like you’re the only one doing all the jobs. You nodded at your teacher for the last time before you turned on your heel and walked away.
The sounds of the footsteps behind you are getting louder and louder the more you try to speed walk back to your dorm. You stopped in your tracks and so did the footsteps of a certain person.
A glance was brought to Suna’s view before you fully turned your body to face him, slouching slightly with his terrible figure, “What do you want?”
“Aren’t we like, you know, supposed to find out how to catch these so called ‘souls’,”
“They already thought us how in the class session just a week ago,”
He tilted his head slightly, rubbing the back of his neck, “I didn’t hear what the teach says,”
Of course. You scowled at him before looking away, “Well, you can learn it again all by yourself before tomorrow comes-”
Before you can even walk away again, he got a hold of your wrist and spun you around to face him. His eyes stares into yours for a slight second before he opened his mouth,
“You know that I have trouble studying alone, so I need your help to teach me about these souls things or whatever,” “And why would I?”
You yanked your hand away from his grip, rubbing your wrist slightly. Suna sighed,
“Look, I may not know a lot about this, but catching one of ’em seemed like a tough job for only one person to handle, isn’t it?”
No responses from you, but you didn’t seem to deny it by the look on your face, so he continued,
“If you can teach me how to catch these souls back to where they belong, it would’ve been easier and you don’t have to spend your precious time on me for too long,”
As much as you hate to admit it, he has a point. Suna always knew about your hatred towards him, whether it’s from your cold stares at him to you brushing him off every time he approaches you to ask a question.
It’s pretty obvious, since you always avoid him no matter what. He doesn’t take it to heart cause he had experienced it when he was a kid. But at some point, those indifferent you have towards him felt slightly painful.
As if he doesn’t really like it that you hate him, or the fact that he looks up to you. How can anyone not?
You’re enchantingly alluring not to mention one of the top students in his year. You never fail any tests and seem like a people magnet, always talking to everyone you come across to.
He felt small around you and to be paired in a case together? He thought you can just stomp on him like he’s nothing.
But, it’s a great opportunity too. Like what Miss Mochizuki said, it could be a bonding moment for the two of you. And for him to prove you that he’s not a bad person like what you see him to be.
Suna can feel his heart beating a million times an hour, locked in your unwavering stare before you shake your head, “After lunch break, we’re going to the library,”
He blinked in surprise and before he can react, you started walking away but stopped again, standing there for a second,
“Don’t be late,”
That’s the last thing you said before leaving him dumbfounded on his spot. He watches your figure fade away from his vision as he sighed. A small smile twitched upon his facial features,
“Can’t promise that,”
Tumblr media
“This simpleton, I swear to god,”
You tapped your foot with impatience, looking at both your left and right trying to find the slouching figure of Suna Rintarou but he still hasn't come even after 13 minutes of you waiting inside the library.
The people inside quivers a bit at the dark aura radiating from you and literally anyone from a 5 miles distance can certainly feel it.
A chuckle can be heard besides you as you turn your head around to see none other than your friend from the same classroom,
“Still waiting huh?”
“That’s the problem here, Keiji!  He’s so irresponsible with whatever task was given. I told him to arrive after lunch break and yet, that fool still haven’t show his head anywhere,”
You ranted to him before going back to tapping your foot while having your arms crossed, huffing frustratedly. Akaashi Keiji, who is also one of the top students of the academy and your closest friend in the classroom,
“I think I saw him still being in the dining hall, talking with his friends from the other class,”
“HE IS?!”
Akaashi flinched at your sudden outburst, you realized what you had done and mumbled an apology before looking away. The male sighed, a small smile appearing on his face, “You shouldn’t go hard on him. I mean, this is the first time he had ever agreed to study,”
“Huh? What do you mean by that?” you caught his eyes, showing a small glint of mischief, “What I’m saying is that Rintarou always decline my offer to have a study session with him,”
“Yeah, I know that it’s not surprising that he declined it since he’s not the type to study as you can tell. But what’s bizarre is that Rintarou asked you to tutor him without a second thought when the case was brought to you two, and without hesitating. Don’t you find that weird?”
You shrugged, “It’s good that he got that inside his head but to be honestly, it is kind of weird. Also, why did you even offer to tutor him in the first place, Keiji?”
The ravenette chuckled slightly, turning his head around to look back at you, “Well, did you actually know that-”
And before he can finish his sentences, the tall brunette that you had been waiting for arrived in front of you. Both you and Akaashi stopped your conversation to look at his panting form, probably from the running he did.
Suna quickly put his head up and looks between you and Akaashi before opening his mouth, “Hey,”
Without even hesitating you aggressively pull his collar shirt and drags him inside the library, nagging him for being late,
“You’re late, I told you not to but you didn’t listen to me and decided to hang out with your friends at the dining hall,”
“What, how did you know that I was there?”
“Don’t change the subject,”
“Geez fine, also i’m not really that late,”
“I’ve waited for 13 minutes,”
“Doesn’t seem too long for me,”
“Just go grab a book so that we can start already,”
“Yes, ma’am,”
Akaashi watches you walk away with the tall lad before snickering to himself, going back to finding another book to read.
You slam the book down as you can see the male’s figure flinched at your action from the corner of your eyes. You did nothing but give him a cold side eye, sighing and proceed to open the book.
Suna watches you flip through the pages, brushing your thumb on the title every second to check the words before finally finding the subject you’re looking for.
You slide the book to him to show the page you’re in, “Here it is. Go read it by yourself,”
The male looks at the book, then at you and then back to the book. He held onto the cover and scanned the words one by one. After reading for a minimum of 6 words, he puts the book down.
You confusedly look at him, “Why did you stop reading?”
“Too many words,” he can hear you sighing for the nth time before the pages of the book are squeezed up to his face, “There’s no way you can just catch the souls without reading what they are, just read it! It’s not that hard,”
“Pfft, yes it is. I don’t even like to read books in the first place,” both of you struggled with each other, him trying to push the book away from his face while you’re trying to smack on it.
He finally got a good hold on it and put it down back on the table, “I already told you that reading is no good for me, I literally can’t learn anything by just looking at words,”
You glared at him with a black aura coming from you. Suna shivers at that, sweat dropping before putting both of his hands up to show mercy. Your eyes then turn back to its original annoyed look as you rest your forehead on top of your palm.
His eyes stare at your figure, blinking a few times, “You know, you can just properly tutor me on how these souls work, explaining it or something,”
Suna flinched when you shot your head up and directly turn your pupils at him, “Yeah, sure, I don’t mind,”
But he did certainly saw you rolling your eyes, taking the book in front of him and scanned the sentences for only a few seconds before putting your eyes back at him,
“Do you have a notebook and a pen with you?”
Tumblr media
“Am I seeing this right?”
Akaashi turned his head to his senior, resting his arm over the table he’s sitting at. Konoha stares at both of you and Suna’s figure talking about the subject in hand, and surprisingly enough, the brunette even has the energy to write what you’re explaining to him.
“Is the infamous Suna Rintarou is actually studying with the person who hated him the most?” “We live in a weird world, Konoha. Maybe this is god’s work to get them to be nice with each other,”
Konoha snickered before turning his head at a certain owl like person and after a few minutes, his face contorted into an annoyed look,
“Bokuto, how long are you going to pick a book??”
“Sorry! Wait, I think I found one!”
“Well, then hurry up,”
“No need to rush me out, I got this!”
A chorus of ‘shhh’ filled in the room as Bokuto sheepishly mumbled an apology before quickly grabbing the book. Akaashi sighed while Konoha shakes his head at his classmate’s antics.
Suna tapped his pen onto his notebook, filled with words that seemed like only he can understand and a few doodles, looking back at you explaining the concept of souls to him,
“Now you know what souls are?” The male nodded, briefly taking a glance at his notebook again,
“These souls are basically dead people from the past that didn’t make it through the barrier between this world and the afterlife. They’re harmless so it won’t be a problem for people to encounter them,”
You snap your fingers at his response, “Correct, and are souls and ghouls the same thing?” You asked again, “No, not at all,”
“A ghoul is more like an entity that robs graves and feeds on corpse, they’re pretty harmful so hafta avoid ‘em at all cost,”
A hum of affirmation and nod was sent his way as he sighs in relief, finally understanding the concept. And thought to himself, that you’re a pretty good tutor, not that he’ll admit it in front of your face though.
You read back the content inside the book while waiting for Suna to finish writing the remaining notes down. And to slightly collect your thoughts. Despite never hearing anything in class, he’s actually a quick learner and is a good listener when he tries to be.
Not to mention that he sometimes crack a joke or two to lighten up the mood, and unfortunate enough, he caught you snickering at one of his bad jokes,
“Are you actually laughing right now?”
“What are you talking about,”
“Oh playing dumb now huh? I didn’t know you’re that kind of type but you totally did laugh at my jokes,”
“No, I didn’t,”
“Pfft, yes you did, ma’am. There’s no need to deny it,”
You hit his head with his notebook with a small ‘oof’ in response, “Shut up and get back to work,”
And you’re actually...enjoying tutoring him right now- No, you’re only here to teach this idiot of a person about souls and how to catch it and that’s it. You have also tutored a few students before inside the library and at the same spot,
But why does it feel different with him?
“Now that we already covered that part, let’s get to the real point here; how to catch souls,”
You hold out your hand to him as Suna puts his notebook onto your palm, watching you take it and start sketching onto it. He leaned a bit from his spot to see you drawing out a picture of a gas lamp.
After finished sketching it, you show the book to him and started explaining again, “As you can tell, this gas lamp is the main tool of catching the souls,”
“Basically, when we light up the lamp, it’ll absorb any type of lights surrounding it which includes the souls. It’s confirmed souls are made out of lights so when exposed to any main source of lights, they’ll get trapped inside it, which is also the reason why…”
You waited a bit, averting your eyes at him. He does the same, but with confusion before it clicked right into him. His mouth turned into an ‘o’ shape, continuing your statement,
“-they roam at night, so that they won’t be exposed and absorbed by the sun,”
“Exactly,”
Suna nodded, feeling a little bit smart and it might be just him but he thought he saw your mouth twitched into a small smile just now. But it’s barely even visible so he won’t trust his brain this time, though he hoped that you’re happy that he’s finally understanding it,
“And that’s all,” “That’s all?” “Yep, tomorrow we meet up at the dining hall after dinner, then we can start preparing for the search,”
You close the book and put it back to it’s shelf, you hand him his pen back as he takes it from you. His cheeks tinged a bit at how briefly your fingers brushed his. He tried to not make it obvious but he can’t help but fluster at the mere touch,
“I hope you won’t be late this time…” He flinched at your tone to see you glaring at him, but it somewhat, a little bit toned down than what you usually do. Then again, he still nodded as your stare softened almost too quickly,
“Good, see you then,”
And then, something that he didn’t expect from you happened. You hold out your hand and wave at him before walking out of the library. He blinked, did you just wave him goodbye?
No, that seemed impossible coming from a person like you, the one that hated him the most. You didn’t care about him or even acknowledge him in the first place, you’re only doing this for the case. Or did you even hate him in the first  place?
Suna blushed bright red at that thought before hearing Akaashi said to him,
“Well, that doesn’t seem very [y/n] at all, don’t you think,” He turned around to see the ravenette smirking at him, taking a seat at where you previously sat at, “Do you know what that means Akaashi?”
“Hm, maybe they started getting comfortable with you, but you’ll never know right? Maybe you should watch them closely more often,”
The brunette looks down at his note, scanning your sketch of the gas lamp while brushing the thin lines with his fingers.
Do you even hate him?
Tumblr media
You walked through the halls after exiting the library but then stopped next to the big glass window. You stood there, frozen as if you had turned into stone,
“[Y/N], WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS??”
You whispered yelled to yourself while lightly slapping your face to get your head back to reality. Sure, you do hate him right? You hate him so much because of the freshman memories and the way he’s just very ignorant in class.
And the way his lean body figure just draped over his desk, showing his toned muscles behind his tight white collar shirt. And the way he’ll just lean over you whenever he wanted to ask a question, his handsome face and beautiful eyes scanning your figure-
“NOOO, WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME???”
Your hand tugged the hem of your shirt, biting your lips at the thought as your face heated up. You scoffed, shaking your head before speed walking away from the halls with a hesitant smile on your face, truly believing that you hate Suna Rintarou.
It’s true that you hate him, you even admitted it to yourself and everyone else. You really hate him for the things he’s irresponsible for and the things he’d done to you,
So, why is it so hard to hate him now?
Tumblr media
“DUDE, YOU WHAT??”
“TSUMU, STOP BEING SO LOUD, I’M TRYNA TO MAKE SOME FOOD,”
“WHY’RE YA EVEN MAKIN’ FOOD INSIDE OUR DORM IN THE FIRST PLACE,”
A pillow smacked into Atsumu’s face as he glared at Ginjima who threw it at him, “You both are too loud, quiet down or else we’ll get nagged again!” “Sheesh,” the blonde scoffed before launching onto his bed and throwing the pillow back at Ginjima,
“So, back to Mr.hated-by-[y/n]-[l/n] situation-” “-that name’s suck-” “-shaddup, samu- anyways, do y'all start going good or something? Hm?” he rested his head onto his pillow, looking into his friend’s eyes,
“Nah, we’re still on the bad side I think,” “Pfft, you think? Suna, we heard the news, they’re literally into you now that you show yer ‘cool’ side to them,”
Suna cringed at that before rolling his eyes and reading back the book in his hands, “Also, when did ya even start reading books all of the sudden? I thought you hated eating words,”
“Eating what?” Osamu looks at his twin brother with a confused expression, the bowl of rice in his hand was half eaten along with the omelette in front of him,
“That’s literally what Suna said when he read books for the first time,”
Ginjima snickered at that memory and looks at Suna, “Pfft yeah, he even said that it doesn’t taste good,”
All of them, except Suna, laughed at that while the brunette just scoffed before the door of their room was opened, “Omi-omi! How's the bath? Hm?”
“Shut up, Miya,” Sakusa spite at him as he can see Osamu looking up from his bowl of rice with an offended look, “ The blonde Miya,” and with only that, he softened up and went back to chewing his food.
Komori followed him from behind before plopping down onto his bed, which is next to Sakusa’s. He then looks at Suna with a mischievous smile,
“Heard the news Rin, is it true though?” “It came from Akaashi, of course it’s true,” Atsumu answered for him, having his hands behind his head while staring at the top bunk, where Ginjima sleeps at,
“Well, technically and no, I wanna hear it from the man himself,”
“Am I seriously getting interrogated right now,”
“Apparently,” Ginjima shrugged, turning his body around to look at Suna. The latter sighs before quickly closing the book he’s reading, “I don’t want to answer more stupid questions so, good night!”
He turned off the only lamp switch, that is miraculously next to him as the room turned dark. The sounds of the groaning and slight screams of frustration can be heard inside as they complained,
“SUNA, TURN ON THE LIGHT BACK ON, I’M NOT FINISHED EATING YET!”
“THAT’S WHY I TOLD YOU TO EAT OUTSIDE, FOR GOD SAKES,”
“RIN, IT’S NOT NIGHT TIME YET, OPEN THE LAMP BACK ON,”
“SHUT UP, TSUMU. I EAT WHEN I WANT TO,”
“Rintarou, open the lamp,”
“WHY THE HELL DO YOU ALWAYS DO THIS RIN??”
“YOU’LL GET YOUR STUPID RICE EVERYWHERE ON THE FLOOR,”
“THEN, HOW ABOUT YOU BE A USEFUL THING AND CLEAN IT UP,”
“WHAT?! NO, THAT GROSS,”
“IF NONE OF YOU SHUT UP, I’LL CALL MR.OYAMA TO YELL AT YOU ALL!”
The sound of their senior’s voice shuts them up in an instant as Suna quickly turn the lights back on and pretend to read the book he’s reading just now, though it’s upside down,
“This is why I propose that I’m the one who should sleep next to the lamp switch,”
“Oh, shut up you would literally do the same,”
“NO, I WON’T,”
“YES, YOU WOULD,”
“WHY’RE YOU TWO EVEN ARGUING ABOUT THIS, OH GOD-”
“WHAT DID I JUST SAID?!”
And then they’re back to silence. Sakusa sighed, opening his notebook to study back the last session.
Tumblr media
You walked through the dark halls, lighted up with only candles as you turned to the right to head towards the dining hall. And much to your surprise, Suna’s already there.
Leaning against one of the pillars while lightly tapping his foot. Then he caught your figure and hold out his hand to greet your arrival, “Hey, you’re late,”
You scoffed at that, standing in front of him with your hands on your hips, “I just came right on time, so I wasn’t late. But you came earlier than last time, did your friend just ditch you?”
He hold up a hand to his chest, pretending to be offended by your words, “Ouch, at least compliment me for being earlier than you,” Which earns an unamused sigh from you as you look around the halls,
“Whatever, do you have all the preparations?” “Yep,”
The male patted the bag wrapped around his shoulder as he lifted up a gas lamp from his other hand, “Good. Now, should we get going?”
“Obviously, but do you actually know where the old library is?” “Of course,”
You motioned him to follow you as you walked towards the end of the dining hall room, a door was placed at the very corner as you searched through your coat’s pocket and pull out a key,
“How come I never saw this door before,” “I didn’t notice too at first, but I think the more you look around, the more you notice things,”
The lock let out a click as you removed the lock from the door before opening it as the fresh night air hit Suna’s face. He shivered slightly, shaking his head a bit and started following you out from the door.
And just like that, the view of the old academy’s library came to his view as he looked up at the tall building. The sound of the crows can also be heard, a murder of it can be seen resting on one of the tree’s branches.
It’s a full moon today so it gave both of you enough light to see around the dark and lonesome night.
It was mere silence between you two as you walked through the plain grass towards the library’s main gate, looking rusty as ever. You tried opening the metal gate but unable to by how rusty it became after years of abandonment, “Let me,”
Suna put a hand up to try to open it and you let him, retreating a bit. But you didn’t know that his method of opening is this.
Without a second thought, he kicked the metal door open as the ear screeching sound echoed through the skies, making the crows fly in fear, “You idiot,”
You smacked his shoulder as he groaned in pain at the surprisingly hard smack, rubbing his shoulder while he’s at it. You went inside the gate without sparing a glance at him and walked straight towards the library’s entrance.
Suna quickly follows from behind and stares at the big and gloomy door. You did the same, you knew that these souls were absolutely harmless and had no way of hurting both of you.
But you truly can’t deny the eerie feeling by just the look of the door, “What, you’re scared?”
You flinched at his statement, turning your head around to see a small smirk plastered on his smug little face. You scoffed at that and shook your head, “Good riddance,”
Why’re your heart beating faster right now? Is it because you’re actually that scared with what’s about to come? You had come this far from tutoring him to trying to find the right tools and yet, you find yourself in a slightly shivering form.
Or is it because you’re nervous that you would be truly alone with this brunette. You hated him, so why would you be nervous to be around him all alone. Hated…
How weird. You tried to calm down your beating heart and wonder if Suna’s actually feeling the same thing-
‘No, [y/n] focus, now’s not the time,’ you thought, shaking your head a bit.
Little did you know though, the person next to you is feeling the same emotions as yours. Finally, alone with only you and himself, he’s quite nervous isn’t he? Awfully obvious, he can already hear Atsumu mocking him for that,
Oh well, at least he had to be ready for what’s about to come.
“Hey, we’re going to turn on the lamp now, you’re ready?”
“Always has been,” Suna said almost too quickly while still staring at the library’s door.
You look at him with surprise at his quick response. Why’s he suddenly confident with all this? But you took it no mind as you just nodded and pulled out your lamp and a box of matches. You light one of it before gently burning the rope inside the lamp.
You did the same with Suna’s before taking a deep breath. You look at Suna for one last time as you get a nod of affirmation from him. He slowly opens up the door as it creates a terrible screek before hitting the wall.
And the last thing you hear from the male is a chuckle with a smirk on his face,
“This is gonna be interesting,”
Tumblr media
It was silence. Only silence and the sounds of your footsteps roaming around the lonely and empty library. The insides of the building are horribly dark as you can see books scattering all over the place with the only lights coming from the lamp.
Torned up completely. Suna takes the lead, shining every corner of the room you’re in to try to find a familiar white light floating around, “Hey, you found anything?”
The male stopped on his tracks before turning around to look at you, shaking his head as in he hadn't found anything. You sighed, moving the lamp in your hand around a bit more before finding a stack of stairs heading to the second floor,
“Let’s check the next floor,”
Suna just nodded and headed towards it. He checked for any cracks or holes before confirming that it’s safe. He sent a nod at you as the two of you started going up stairs.
And at that moment, he remembered back what Akaashi said to him back at the library. Why do these unimportant flashbacks always happen during the baddest time? He sighs quietly to himself as he recalled what the ravenette had said;
“If you really want to impress them, show them that you’re responsible for any kind of situation, no matter what. I know that you’re a very lazy person but at least put some effort in making yourself look good to them,”
“Also, I think you should just tell them the truth when you get there, It’s better than keeping it a secret no matter how painful you felt admitting it,”
At that exact moment, he can instantly hear a crack spreading and in an instant turns his head towards you, catching a glimpse of your face contorted into fear. Without any hesitation, Suna quickly grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards him as the staircase collapsed underneath you two.
Both of you tried to catch your breath from the sudden event, sweating profusely but thankfully, you’re safe without a scratch. When you finally collected your minds, you realized the situation you’re in with him,
You’re awkwardly on top of him, with your legs in between his thighs and your head rested on his shoulder, his hand is on top of your head while the other is still gripping your wrist.
A blink before you quickly stand up from that position and look for your lamp. Thankfully, the glass didn’t shatter but Suna’s though…
“Sorry, uh, wait, where’s your lamp?”
He sat up, rubbing his head at the impact it had with the floor before looking at you and turning his head to his right, finding the lamp shattered as the pieces scattered all over the floor with the flame died out.
A sigh escaped his lips before standing up and dusted himself, “I guess we had to use yours now huh,”
“Unfortunately, c’mone, the more we find it, the less we had to spend our time here,”
Suna nodded at that, but tilted his head a bit when your figure’s still standing there in front of him, “Hey, you okay? Do you want to take a rest? We can like, I don’t know, maybe sit here for a bit then we can-”
“Suna,”
He froze when he heard his name rolled off from your tongue as he watched your back with his eyes widened. You never said his name before, it’s always ‘you’, ‘idiot’ or ‘Tibetan Sand Fox’, for some weird reasons. But now that he really heard his name,
His real name coming from you, he felt weird but it’s...nice,
“Thanks for just now. For me to say that I was surprised, was obvious but you do have fast reflexes so, yeah, thanks, I guess,”
You can feel his stare at the back of your head as you bite the inside of your cheeks and start walking away to the room in front of you.
He still stood there, completely dumbfounded with the change of behavior that you’re having right now. But it’s fine, he might get used to it, the more often he stay in this old library with you-
“SUNA! HURRY UP!” His mind got cut off before slapping his face slightly, “Coming!”
Tumblr media
“Are we seriously going to be here all night…?”
Both of you sat on the wall near the now 3rd floor, you covered your face with your hand in frustration while the latter searched through his bag and pulled out a bar of chocolate.
He opens up the wrapper, cutting the bar into two but accidently making it uneven. He hummed, looking at both of the pieces before shrugging and handing you the bigger piece.
You look at the chocolate before hesitantly taking it from his hand. The chocolate looked slightly bizarre than the ones you had seen before, the color is not typically chocolate like all chocolates should be,
But rather in a pretty shade of pink, “Where did you get this?”
Suna looks at you while taking a bite of his chocolate, “Well, one of my friends is a good cook so we made this inside the dorm,” “Inside the dorm??”
He can see the confusion plastered on your face as he chuckled, “Yeah, he’s hungry all the time so we do this often inside our room. Got nagged a lot by seniors but all's well. Also, if you’re wondering, we’ve actually put some berries inside it, got a bit of a fruity taste,”
You look back at the chocolate with suspicion before going to take a bite. Your eyes widened as you bite the piece off and started munching on it,
“This...tastes pretty good,”
“I know right? He’s a bit of a weirdo tho but means well,”
You coughed at his statement and let out a laugh. Suna stopped mid biting the chocolate, watching you laugh your heart out as he could feel a slight pain to his chest.
The laugh soon died down as you turned your head at him with confusion, he quickly looked away with hot red cheeks, “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“N-nothing,”
You watch him biting off his chocolate rather aggressively with a frown on his face, and now red cheeks. Thankfully, the room is dark enough to cover the redness spreading across his face,
“Don’t lie to me, idiot. You thought my laugh was ugly didn’t you? So much for me to finally warming up to you,”
“I didn’t say that- wait, what,”
Why’s everything happening so fast for him to comprehend. You averted your eyes at him while eating your chocolate, you realized what you had said before blushing a bit, “Uh, I didn’t mean that, no, wait- the point is that,”
He watches you looking away from his view while crumpling the wrapper, “I, think I enjoyed spending my time with you, no matter how truly impossible it is to believe, I actually...”
Your beautiful eyes stare into his as a small smile plastered over your face, “..don’t hate you anymore, in fact, I, really wanted to be by your side all the time after that stupid, problematic study session that we have that I started realizing,”
He swallowed down the saliva collecting up on his throat as he can feel his heart is about to beat out of his chest, he’s afraid that you might hear it too,
“But I still won’t forgive you for that terrible freshman memory,” and just like that, your smile fades away as if it’s never there in the first place. Suna frowned at that as he recalled the old memory,
“Oh, you mean that time I spilled my coffee onto your shirt?”
“Obviously, and it annoys me anytime I think about it,”
Your tone was back to how it was, like how you used to talk to him before. You stand up from the floor and dust yourself, grabbing the lamp that was next to you. But this time, you’re giving him a hand as he, without a doubt grabs it and stand up as well,
“Well, I’m sorry about that but can you, actually hear my part of the story?” You tensed up at that,
“Your part?”
He merely nodded before opening his mouth,
“Sorry,”
Suna said with panic lacing his voice as he looked around for a brief second and walking away from the direction you came from. He jogged slightly, finally deciding to throw the coffee cup away and try to find-
He stopped in his tracks before finding a box of tissue near the canteen. He grabbed a few of them before jogging back to where he left you. But you’re nowhere to be seen, only a puddle of coffee left on the floor as the students tried to avoid stepping on it,
“Oh god,”
“YOU REALLY ARE AN IDIOT, AREN’T YOU??”
He flinched a bit when you smacked his shoulders a couple of times after he explained, “You could’ve just help me clean up and not walk away trying to find tissues,”
“I was late for my class and I was panicking okay?? I wasn’t thinking straight and again, I’m sorry!”
You huffed, smacking for the last time before speed walking away towards the 4th and last floor with Suna trying to catch up to you, “Honestly, on second thought, I think I can go back to hating you,”
“What do you mean by that?? You already told me that you didn’t hate me anymore,”
“I take it back, not only you’re irresponsible but you’re truly unable to make the right choices at a given time,”
“Oh c’mone, how many times you’re going to say that-”
His footsteps stopped as he stood there frozen in his tracks and eyes widened. You heard him get cut off by himself as you hesitantly turned your body around to face him,
“Suna?”
He, can hear them. It’s been years now, but now that he heard them again, it felt awfully strange. His ears started ringing a terrible high pitched scream before it turned into silence again with your voice calling him out,
“Suna! What’re you still standing there? Hurry up, we need to finish this-”
The male grabbed your wrist that was holding the lamp, opening the glass’s cover and blow the flame out as only pitch black welcomed you two,
“SUNA! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?? NOW WE HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE 4TH FLOOR AND EXIT IS! WHY’RE YOU LIKE THIS-”
“Just shut up and follow me,”
You immediately stopped your yellings and shivered slightly at how close his voice is next to your ear. You wanted to deny that and just start nagging him again, but something in his voice says that...he knows what he’s about to do.
You nodded slightly and let him drag you around. His hold on your wrist is still there, squeezing it in reassurance before he slowly walked towards the right side.
Both of you walked for what felt like an hour with only silence surrounding you two as he came across another staircase. Suna released the grip on your wrist, wrapping his hands around your back to guide you up,
“We’re gonna go slowly, okay?”
You nodded, and with that, you two started going up the stairs one by one. He gave you a small push from the back as a sign you’re going up the stairs. And when you two finally came to the 4th floor, you could see a small light coming from the corner of your eyes.
And there you finally see it. All of the 10 souls roaming around the library. It’s sad and lonesome faces look around everywhere and their liquidity like body twitched every second,
“Stay right here,”
You shot your eyes at Suna before he let go off his grip from your back and walk towards the souls. What is he doing? Both of you have no light source right now so it’s impossible to catch them with mere hands-
“Hey,”
The brunette started, looking at the white entity as it’s body slowly turned around to face him. The two of them stare at each other for a bit before Suna started talking again,
“You are? Huh, don’t worry, you’re safe with us,”
He wrapped his arms around the soul and, it didn't go through. Your eyes widened at that, did he really just...touched one? But it’s impossible for a mere mortal to just touch a dead being just like that,
“Almost every single human can’t touch a soul because of its non-existent matter since they’re basically dead. But there are rumors going around that there’s at least 1 in each kingdom that can touch a soul, and while they’re at it, they can also-”
“Suna, you can talk to souls?”
He turned his head around to look at you, watching him petting the soul slowly before stopping. The soul that he hugged looks at him, as a statement on why he stopped before looking at you,
You flinched at the eye contact but softened when it tilted it’s head in confusion. Suna takes a deep breath before looking at you with an unwavering stare,
“Yes, I, in fact, can talk to souls, and even touch them. I’m that 1 person in this kingdom,”
He hated that he had to admit it to you. He wasn’t so fond of this so-called ‘skill’ that he had since birth. He can totally admit this to anyone but to you? He’s back to feeling small, feeling like he holds no purpose in this world at all once you figured it out.
The male closes his eyes and expect the worst as your response,
“Don’t play with us, you don’t belong here,”
“I bet his only friends are those ghosts things,”
“What, you’re gonna cry? What you’re gonna do now huh? Cry it out to your dead friends?”
“Oh my, your son can talk to...dead beings…”
“Yes, and I’m planning on leaving the kingdom and him behind, he’s so lazy too so I don’t think I need him anymore,”
“I hope you have fun talking to yourself,”
“When he reaches the age of 13, I’ll leave him behind with the house. It’s his now and his other...friends,”
“I hate you, we all hate you, don’t even think of coming here again,”
“Don’t you-”
His mind got cut off when he felt a painful punch to his guts as he let out a scream in pain and kneel down, clutching his stomach. The soul that was next to him flinched and it’s face contorted into fear.
He looks up at you, glaring at him with tears staining your eyes,
Wait.
Before he can process his thoughts, you embrace him into a hug as you hold him tightly as if he’ll go away. He just stayed there, letting you engulfing him into the hug as his hands released his stomach.
Twitching a bit as he hugs you back, slowly gripping on your coat hardly while fighting back the tears that’s about to spill out. Unfortunately, you let go of the hug but then make eye contact with him.
Your tears stained eyes stared into his glossy ones before you opened your mouth,
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I could’ve just forgive everything you had done all those times,”
His breath hitched at the close proximity between you two. But he felt like he’s at home, a better one, “I’m...afraid that you’ll try to avoid me when I admit that-”
“Stop it stupid, I won’t avoid you for that. I was actually looking for you,”
Looking, for him? Suna watches you wiping the tears that fell down and continued, “I heard about that one person in the kingdom from an old friend of mine, they said that this person live in the same town as me,”
“I was, really intrigued that there’s actually someone that can talk and touch souls, I tried doing it on my own but failed every time, that’s why I was trying to find someone like that, to say that I think they’re incredible for something a mere person can’t do. But then again, I thought that, maybe they’re having a hard time trying to fit in by their unique trait, being an...outcast,”
An outcast huh? He had heard that name for him a lot of times,
“I personally don’t think that THAT person was an outcast just because they’re different from the others. I think that they’re special, they deserved better, they deserve every love they can get and yet…”
You bite your lips, “They still treat them differently. It’s not fair and will never be. So I tried searching for that person all around the kingdom when I was still in the age of 12, but I couldn’t find them,”
“But I did now, but I didn’t think that it would be you…”
What’re you trying to show him right now? Pity? Amazement? He didn’t know, your eyes just showing too many emotions at a time yet, he can still understand it.
And he thought, how should he react? After what you said just now, maybe he know what,
“What I wanted to say is that…”
You scoffed, but not in a hateful way like you always done and with a smile,
“You’re amazing Rintarou, and will always be. You’re never an outcast, cause you’re just the same like all of us, only…more special,”
Suna can feel your hand caressing his cheeks as he unconsciously let out a tear slide down. Your tears started spilling again as you hiccuped, trying to steady your breathing and brain,
“And, I’m sorry...for everything I have done to you, I’m...hah...so stupid…”
You let out a shaky laugh as the brunette hesitantly put a hand on the back of your head, letting you rest on top of his chest while he lay down on the floor. The souls surrounded you two in curiosity but you both paid it no mind and just enjoying each other presence,
“You’re not stupid, you never are. What you did to me all those months, was not stupid, but resonable,”
He bite the inside of his cheeks and let out a weak smile,
“And I had forgiven you a long time ago,”
And now, the only thing filling in the library is silence and the sound of both of your breathing, peaceful and unbothered.
Tumblr media
You walked out from the dressing room and buttoned up your white collar shirt, fixing the jetblack coat you're wearing before looking around,
“Hey, has anyone seen my tie?”
“Oh, here!”
You turned to your right and smiled at Akaashi, taking the tie from his hands. You loosened up the zip and put it around your collar before zipping it back up, nice and tight.
Flattening it a bit before looking at your appearance on the mirror, “You already look dazzling, [y/n]. No need to pose in front of the mirror,”
“Oh shut up will you,”
You playfully yelled at Mai, who’s wearing the same kind of outfit like yours but with a knee length skirt.
Today’s the day, the time for your graduation. After a max time of 6 years surviving the academy, you’ve finally made it to graduation. It all felt so fast now that you think about it,
All those memories from the first day to the last day of the exam and now, here you are. And you’re going to admit that, it’s really hard not to feel emotional, after all that time spent with your friends and...lover.
You shake your head at that title, blushing a bit as you can feel a slight tap to your shoulder. You turned around to see none other than Suna,
“[y/n], help me put on this tie,”
“Why can’t you just put it on yourself?”
“I can’t tie a tie,”
You snorted, “Did you seriously just say a pun?” he shrugged, “Maybe,”
A sigh escaped from your lips as you took the tie from his hands and started tying it around his collar. And from the corner of your eyes, you can literally see Akaashi smirking at you along with the other 2nd years, who’s now seniors of the academy,
“Woah, Rin, didn’t know you’re the advantage taker type,”
“Yeah, are ya up to something Suna~?”
Both Atsumu and Komori snickered as the latter sigh, rolling his eyes in annoyance but you can definitely see the slight pink on his cheeks.
You finished tying his tie and patted it lightly, “There,” “Thanks,” “Anytime,”
“Haha, aren’t you two gonna kiss or something?” Ginjima pried in at the two of you, before almost everyone inside the room laughed with Suna’s cheeks turning red as he walks away to cover his face away from the crowd,
“We’re graduating now, aren’t we?”
You then looked at Eri as you two sit on the chair next to each other, Mai joining in to your other side, “It certainly is, I honestly can’t believe that 6 years had passed since we first started arriving here,”
“True, and I did remember the time Eri first arrived during our 3rd year, she’s so cute and shy~”
Eri blushed and huffed at Mai, who giggled at the noirette cute pout. You laughed along with them, watching Tanaka and Noya pestering Suna to tell them what’s going on between you two.
Ginjima and Atsumu join in on them, talking almost too loudly and you can tell that the teachers that’s out from backstage can hear them too.
Komori just watches them while his cousin just rolls his eyes at their antics, Osamu’s struggling to put on his tie as Ennoshita helped him out with it.
Kyoutani is actually having a relaxed conversation with Aone, which seemed very odd but very interesting to look at. Kenma’s just cramped up at the corner of the room with Fukunaga sitting comfortably next to him.
Yamamoto’s now joining in the Suna banter and you swear that the room gets noisier and noisier, much to Sakusa and Kenma’s dismay. Taichi and Shirabu are going through the script since both of them are going to give a speech later for the whole class.
And the others seemed to fix their appearance and clothes. You sighed, a small smile creeping up on your face. This all feels so nostalgic and heartwarming and you can’t help but feel pained that all of you had to separate from each other.
And it honestly felt like you have done wrong to them now that you reminisce the memories all at once. In a second, you clapped your hands loudly as it takes the attention of the whole room, their eyes and attention are now at you.
You missed this. You've been assigned to be the class monitor in the 4th year of the academy and they’ll always put their attention on you when you do this. You cleared your throat before opening your mouth, smiling as wide as you can,
“Now, that I have your attentions, I think I should make the last class meeting,”
Class meeting. It’s when all of you discuss anything regarding the class situation whether it’s about the exam or the class condition or upcoming events.
And the event now is to say goodbye to each other,
“First off, I wanted to say that, I’m sorry,”
All of them flinched at your words with surprise lacing their facial features as you continued, “I may haven’t realized it yet during our academy years but I think I’ve done at least something bad to every one of you, no matter how small or big it is, I do think it’s my responsibility to apologize, and I hope you all can forgive me,”
Then, you shrugged, “Or not, I don’t mind being someone you hate, you know,”
Your eyes caughted Suna as he did nothing but stare at you with disbelief, as if you said something terribly strange, “What’re ya saying, you never did anything wrong to us, [y/n],”
Atsumu started, having a frown on his face as you chuckled at his expression, “Maybe, but I just think that, since this is the last time we’re gonna be with each other, I think it’s best for me to apologize, even if I did nothing wrong, so, again,”
You bowed in front of all of them before sitting straight on your seat with a smile,
“I’m sorry for all the trouble I had done,”
Suddenly, you feel a heavy weight crashed into you as you widen your eyes at the impact and see who it was,
Suna Rintarou.
“Stop apologizing, stupid,”
Ah, the old name that you addressed him in. It felt nostalgic for a moment, and a little ironic. Because you remember doing this to him back when you still hate him,
The man you once hated.
“WHY’RE YOU GUYS ARE BEING SO EMOTIONAL THIS EARLY?? I CAN’T-”
Yamamoto cut off his own sentences and ran towards yours and Suna’s direction and hugged you two. And then one by one, everyone else inside the room started hugging you and started forming a group of hugs.
It takes a while for Fukunaga, Taichi and Aone to pester Kenma, Shirabu and Kyoutani to hug you but they did. Cause they also think you did nothing wrong and doesn’t need to apologize,
Is now the man you cared for dearly.
“Has everyone finished changing into grad clothes?”
You heard your homeroom teacher say from the outside of the backstage as all of you let go of the hug before looking at you, every single one of them while having a small smile on their face.
A quiet sigh escaped your lips as you wipes out the tears that had fallen before mirroring their smiles back,
“Let’s go,”
Tumblr media
“And I hope…”
Shirabu stopped in his reading, steading his breath a bit as his eyes started watering, much to his dismay and continued on quietly and shakily,
“...we all can meet again in the nearest future,”
Everyone clapped their hands loudly as Taichi hugged Shirabu while guiding him back to the bench. You can see everyone you had met before, from the teachers of the whole academy, a few retired teachers that make it to the ceremony, to the old 6th years who were once your seniors and all of your juniors from 5th year.
They’re all here, to celebrate all of your 6 years of being here together. You bite back the tears but it’s no use as it falls down on it’s own.
Bokuto and Konoha cheered from their seats while Washio just lightly clapped his hand along with Yukie and Kaori. Miss Mochizuki, who’s sitting next to you all too clapped her hands while fanning herself from the tears that escaped.
The principal, too, is clapping his hands and even shows a small smile on his face no matter how strict he is. It all felt so heartwarming but it doesn’t stop the pain in your heart that you’ll be separating after this and going back home…
‘Going back home…’ that mere thought echoed through Suna’s head as he can feel like he’s the only one there, in the darkness. His mouth is turned into a straight line as his thought was suddenly interrupted by Atsumu, who’s now sobbing while leaning against his shoulder,
“Sunaaaaa, I’ll miss you! Don’t forget me okay??”
“Geez, yeah I won’t,” he hiccuped, “forget you, idiot,”
“Yeah, do you even think he would do that?” Ginjima said on his right, wiping away his tears and putting on a small smile while biting his lips, “Of course you won’t right?”
The brunette laughed before hugging them, along with Osamu whose breath is ragged from the excessive crying he did,
“It’s hard to forget you all anyway, so I won’t, we’ll see each other again, and that’s a promise,”
He patted their backs as his eyes wandered around the crowd to his classmates, and friends from other classes and then,
Suna caught your eyes, staring at him back. Both of you give each other a smile and nodded,
That’s a promise.
Tumblr media
The sound of the train engine can be heard miles away as Suna covered his ears at the loud sound, chewing his cake. They packed some of the food from the graduation party to be eaten inside the train since it’s going to be a long ride before they separate at the main town hall.
Smokes came up from the top as the conductor gave them a welcoming smile, hearing the news of the graduation while briefly congratulating all of them.
You nodded, thanking the conductor before he went back to his spot to let all of you come aboard. Kenma’s the first to go up the staircase as he picked a comfortable spot near the seat railing.
And then, one by one, the others started climbing up the staircase, some of them holding the railing for support until it’s your turn to climb up but stopped near the doorframe of the train.
You look down, making eye contact yet again with Suna before holding your hand out. He briefly snorted and gladly took in as he started going inside the train too. As Eri and Mai finally got into the train, they closed the door before tapping the walls of the it.
The conductor understands the signal and lets out the horn sound coming from the train before starting the journey back to the main town, away from the academy and near to home.
You’re seated comfortably next to the seat railing with Suna next to you. And apparently, only you two. You glared at Atsumu and Osamu when they smirked at you but then your attention at them got cut off,
“So you’re going back home now?”
Suna asked, biting the last bits of his cake before closing his food container and putting it inside his bag,
“Yeah, I had one of the seniors to build me a place to stay when I get back home thankfully,”
“Is that so,”
Then, it’s just silence between you too as you started opening your mouth again,
“Do you want to come with me?”
He froze at that and looks at you with a bewildered look while you just smile at him, “I mean, if you’re comfortable staying with me, it’s fine if you decline-”
“Yeah sure,”
You blinked at his quick response and just sighed, “That’s good,” You fidgeted with your fingers while still holding onto your graduation paper, softening the hard edges before a tap to shoulder breaks you out of your thoughts,
“Hey, [y/n],”
“Yes Suna?”
His breath hitched when he heard you calling his name again, it never gets old and it always make his heart beating a lot louder, “Come closer, there’s something I need to tell you,”
You stare at him for a bit with curiosity, leaning in to his face as the gap between you two is almost non-existent. You hummed, asking what he’s going to say.
And in between that moment, Suna holds up his graduation paper to cover both of your faces and close the gap between his lips and yours.
