Two hearts, one timeline. Alexia putellas x reader
An age gap romance. Part 2
“ We are delighted to introduce you to this young star. She is a 2 time world cup champion, the youngest ever to achieve that. A 2 time NWSL winner. A final’s MVP and just overall an inspiration. Welcome to the show.” said the reporter next to you. The studio was quiet and all you could hear was your heart beating in your ears. This wasn't the first time you were on TV but you were uncertain about the way the news you were about to deliver is gonna be perceived.
“ Thank you for having me.” you respond with a smile on your face.
“ After your recent NWSL win you were the talk of the sports world. Everybody is interested in whether you are gonna resign with your club or not. What do you say to those questions?”
“ Well I am sad to say that I will not resign with Seattle but very excited to say that a team I have been dreaming of joining has reached out to sign me. I have signed a 4 year contract with FC barcelona.”
“ Oh my god, that's exciting. Tell us how you feel at the moment.”
“ Well, I am very excited, but sad to say goodbye to my family in the states and at seattle. I think this challenge is gonna help me develop as a footballer and learn new styles.”
“ Well, we wish you good luck.”
“ Thank you.”
You exit the studio and the weight of the secret drops from your shoulder. You were gonna leave your home for a more competitive team and a shot at the chapion’s league.
Your move to Barcelona was smooth. You celebrated your run at your old club with the girls, took your flight the next day and landed in sunny Barcelona, the weather was as great as they all said. You then went directly to your new apartment. The time zone change weighed heavily on your body so you took a shower immediately, put your sheets in your new bed and laid down as soon as you could. You then opened your phone only for it to freeze due tha new messages and followers you received. You could see all the comments and messages your new teammates wrote on your post congratulating you on the signing and wishing well for you. This made you excited for your first day tomorrow.
When you woke up the next day you were nervous to say the least. You got ready, called a taxi and headed to the facility. You first got a tour of the facility which was empty because it was early. You met as much staff as you could, did your fitness and health test, a photoshoot, and shot some content. By the time you were done your teammates were done training too. You were ushered by the assistant coach to go to the field and meet everybody.
Your heart was beating like a drum. You were standing next to alexia putellas, aitana bonmati, lucy bronze, and mapi leon. Those people are more experienced and have more accolades than you.
“ Everybody please welcome our new signing from the US.” said your coach which caused all of them to start cheering.
“Hola a todos. Estoy emocionado de ser parte de este equipo, compartir el campo con todos ustedes y ganar algunos trofeos con ustedes.”
“Joder, hablas español y tus estadísticas son buenas, nos llevaremos muy bien.“ said patri putting her arm on your shoulder and guiding you inside.
“Si ella hablara catalán habríamos sido mejores amigas.” said aitana sarcastically.
The rest of the day went on great, you had lunch with the girls, you laughed with them, and exchanged stories. They welcomed you very well.
“ for a young girl you really carry yourself well.” said lucy
“ I had to grow up quickly.” you respond to her.
Your first month at Barcelona was amazing. You got on with the girls really well, training was going well, you had your first start within 2 weeks of your arrival and the fans were really happy with you after your first hattrick in the last match.
“Necesitamos celebrar tu primer mes exitoso con nosotros estrella.” said mapi while you were recovering in the gym. Estrella was the Spanish translation of the nickname the fans gave you when you were getting famous, which was stargirl. That nickname was used by everybody you knew, even the press. But from them it sounded different.
“ Yeah sure, just text me the details.” You responded.
You then went home, showered, and rested. You then got a message from the group chat.“ La terrazza. 8:00.”
Since they went there to celebrate you, you decided to show up and show out. You decided on a black maxi dress, heels, gold accessories, and a red lip.
You drove to the club and got there at 8 sharp. You went inside, and headed straight to the bar to order a drink. The girls started coming little by little, and by a few hours you were all jammed up dancing in the middle of the dance floor. However, your captain didn't join you; she instead opted to watch from the bar.
Alexia has been quiet and reserved around you. Maybe she didn't like you or maybe she was just a quiet person, you never really thought about it before.
“chicas voy a ir al baño.” You yell so that you can be heard over the loud music and exit the dance floor.
Surprisingly the bathroom was empty. You got your business done and went over to the mirror to fix your makeup.
“Parece que te lo estás pasando bien aquí en Barcelona..” said a voice from behind you which took you a minute to realize it was Alexia 's.
“ Capitana I am too drunk for Spanish right now.” You respond still facing the mirror
“ You look good. I mean happy in Barcelona.” She said nervously.
“ Well that's because of you and your friends out there. Actually it was more your friends than you since you hate me.” You respond l, alcohol making you braver than you usually are.
“ I could never hate you. I just can't control myself around you.” She says half whispering. “tengo que ir.” She added before she exited the bathroom.
“ This is definitely something I need to visit tomorrow when I am sober.” You say to yourself before joining the girls again. You were told that Alexia left which caused you to have more questions but you didn't give it much thought. You partied more with the girls before leaving.
Your head was pounding the next morning but you couldn't remember anything, only that you had a great time.
The following weeks were nothing short of spectacular. You were training well, winning every game, scoring every game, and you really built a community with the girls. But Alexia was giving you more space than usual which you couldn't understand why.
Jonathan could see that Alexia was cornering herself away from you so he decided to pair you with each other on everything under the excuse of her giving you more experience since she was older than you. She didn't talk when she was near you, she barely even touched you. This caused commotion in your brain. You lost sleep over why she despised you so much.
One day you had enough of the questions in your brain so you waited in the locker room knowing that she wouldn't come to it to avoid you. You stayed there af-ter all the girls left. After a while alexia entered the locker room
“ Have I ever done anything to offend you?” you ask as soon as you see her figure.
“ Mierda, me asustaste, pensé que no había nadie aquí.” she said taking a few steps back
“ capitana please just give a straight answer. What have I ever done to you?.”
“ We talked about this and my answer was nothing, the problem is in me.”
“ when did we talk about this i don't remember anything.”
“ that night at the party now will you please leave so that i can change and go home i am really tired.”
“ Alexia, this is eating away at me. All I want is for us to be friends or just teammates. Tell me what I did so that we can get past it.”
“ You did nothing, just get over it. You have plenty of friends.”
“No puc fer això ara mateix, és massa jove i hauria de proteger-la de mi” she whispers in catalan and leave without looking at you.
You didn't understand catalan but it was close to Spanish which you were fluent in so when you heard her words you could remember them easily. After she left you reached for your phone and translated her words. “ I can't do this right now. He is too young and should protect her from me.”
Alexia’s words shocked you. You felt dizzy and couldn't focus. You never realized that alexia could have anything for you except hate. You loved her and admired her for the player and person she is. You looked up to her kind heart and intelligent brain. But no matter what you thought about it you needed her approval, her attention, and her focus to be on you as much as you were on her. That's why her distance from you left you puzzled.
You knew that you couldn't stay like that, not when your brain was filled with questions that needed answering.
You left the training facility, and headed straight to Alexia's house.
Before knocking on her door your knees were weak and your brain was quiet. She opened the door mere moments later.
“ What did you mean by protecting me from you?” you asked as soon as she opened the door.
“ What are you doing here?” she asked.
“ What did you mean, alexia?”
“ i don't want to talk about this.”
“ well i do it's the only thing i have been thinking about.”
You force your way inside and she closes the door after you
“ You are not this passive aggressive. I know you. I heard alot about you. This thing you are hiding from me is killing me.” you say to her once she is in front of you.
“ Believe me when I say that I am protecting you.”
“ it's not your choice capitana. What are you protecting me from?”
“ I am protecting you from my feelings for you god damn it. We can't be together and that is all I have been thinking about. I have been thinking about you, your body, your laughter, your eyes. It’s driving me insane.” she yells as she slams the wall behind you.
You weren't shocked, you managed to keep your calm. You held onto her hand which was still on the wall. You backed up a little bit and didn't say a word.
“ this can't happen, you are 23, i am 30. I am older than you. I outrank you in the team. I just…”
“ i dont care.” you interrupt her still holding on to her arm. “ capitana i dont give a fuck. I want you. I need you. Do you want me?” you add.
“More than you'll ever know.” she whispers.
The air was still. The tension was high. You feel your body unintentionally move towards alexia. Your face was millimeters away from her you could feel her breath on your lips. You somehow got brave enough to kiss her. The kiss cut short because she pulled away.
“ please capitana i want this. I want you.”
She then kisses you deeply. Her need for you was apparent. She took control of all of you, not just your lips. She picked you up and walked towards her bedroom all while kissing you. She then threw you on her bed.
“ Are you sure estrella.” whispers
“ I never wanted anything more in this world.”

꒰ ♡ ₊ ꒱ ⠀!⠀ AKAI ITO (01/02) ! ⠀"
(english)
₊˚⊹♡ synopsis: the feared king of curses Ryomen Sukuna is back among humans, and you didn't expect to get his attention.
₊˚⊹♡ trigger warnings: kidnapping, strong language, nudity, suggestive topics, Sukuna being slightly lovely with the reader, violence, Sukuna x fem!reader.
₊˚⊹♡ the song Sukuna keep playing is "Fantasia and Fuge in G minor, BWV 542 "The Great" by Johann Sebastian Bach.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓 and reasonably comfortable, when I found myself waking up suddenly, surrounded by the gloom of my room. A shiver ran down my spine, as if an electric current had suddenly manifested itself, and my senses sharpened, catching an indescribable sensation of an ominous presence that filled the space around me.
I opened my eyes in the darkness, trying to understand the origin of this inexplicable shiver. I raised my hand to the back of my neck, feeling how my hairs were standing on end, and a mist of uneasiness hung in the air, as if something malevolent had penetrated the boundaries of reality and was now hiding in the shadows. My heart quickened, not out of fear, but in silent anticipation of knowing what it was about.
With cautious steps, I slid my bare feet across the cold floor of my apartment, approaching the half-open window. Outside, the distant lights of Tokyo seemed obscured by an aura that even I couldn't explain, and the pulse of the normally vibrant city was drowned out by a sense of expectation.
My cell phone rang, on the bedside table, and I ran to answer it. It was very late, it was already past midnight. Who could it be?
It was my older brother.
━━ Did you feel it too?
We both asked at the same time.
━━ Yes, I did — I said to him.
━━ I did it too… — Toji replied. ━━ Are you fine?
━━ I am... but this feeling is very strange… — I replied, placing my hand on my chest.
━━ Look, go to sleep, okay? You have to teach at Jujutsu High tomorrow, I promise you everything will be fine — my older brother sighed. ━━ Good night, little sis.
━━ Good night, big bro.
I really couldn't sleep that night. The sensation was bizarre, as if something was lurking, whispering in my ear and breathing heavily on the back of my neck.
The next day was cloudy — something very different for spring, which was being followed by sunny days with a beautiful blue sky. The skirt of my white dress fluttered in the breeze and I adjusted the sleeves of my denim jacket as I walked inside Jujutsu High. I saw Megumi talking to Itadori in the hallway, and I ran to the brunette, hugging him tightly.
━━ Megumi, my dear! — I hugged him tightly, bringing my hands to his face, holding his cheeks and making him look at me. ━━ Are you okay?
━━ Hi, auntie… — he was still a little embarrassed that I treated him like that in front of his friends. Because I look more like a sister than an aunt, despite being older, my appearance is youthful due to my nature. There are pros and cons of being a 22-year-old teacher. ━━ I'm fine and you?
━━ That's good, I'm fine too! — I looked to the side. ━━ Ah, good morning, Yuji!
━━ Good morning! — the pink-haired boy smiled happily. He thought the way I treated my nephew was cute.
Although Toji is not a present father in my little darling's life, there are two people he trusts immensely to take care of our little one: me and Gojo Satoru.
Talking about him, I heard the light-eyed sorcerer call me, adjusting his sunglasses.
━━ Does my favorite sorceress have some time for an important matter?
━━ Of course!
Now we were in the teachers' room, gathered near the coffee machine, next to Nanami who looked tense. It was difficult to see that “wall” express something, just like my brother.
I took a sip of the coffee with notes of caramel and vanilla essence that he had prepared for me.
━━ Everyone felt that way yesterday, right? — Kento cleaned the lens of his glasses.
━━ I woke up in the middle of the night. That's strange... it never happened... — just remembering it made me feel cold.
━━ Well, I think we already know... — Gojo bit into a sandwich, how can he eat at a time like this… ━━ That if everyone felt the same thing, late in the morning... it's because something really, really bad happened... so, I think…
━━ No!
The blonde and I exclaimed at the same time. We already knew what he was going to say, it's almost like an intuition.
━━ You don't even know what I'm going to say!
━━ Yes, we know — Kento crossed his arms.
━━ It is not a hypothesis to be ruled out!
━━ It's impossible, Satoru! Impossible! — I said.
━━ The impossible is just a matter of opinion when it comes to magic, my dear — the white-haired sorcerer had an important point.
Ryomen Sukuna had been defeated during the Heian era, centuries ago. At first, the sorcerers had the idea of sealing the curse on twenty fingers, but they disregarded this hypothesis, as they were afraid that it would be easy to bring him back in the future.
Therefore, the king of curses was mutilated, completely dismembered. Then, the sorcerers cremated his parts, one by one, and sealed them in individual urns, which were spread across different parts of the world. How could anyone have gotten all these urns and performed the ritual to get him back?
It would be a lot of work for a huge disgrace. Many rituals had to be done, innocent blood had to be spilled so that the ashes would materialize in parts of his body again.
Who wanted Sukuna alive?
If he returned, he would destroy the sorcerers. And, our death means the death of everyone, the death of humanity.
Now, I walk along the winding forest trail, surrounded by the shadows of the trees in this late afternoon. My mind is still restless, and what Gojo suggested earlier is haunting my every thought. I don't care so much about what will happen to me, but I need to protect my nephew, my brother and my friends.
The sparkling crystals I sought out for the purification ritual were a welcome distraction. The city was as restless as my head, and I felt it in my core.
While collecting the crystals among the roots and mosses, a strange sound broke the silence. A thunderous cry for help. I immediately dropped the crystals and ran away as fast as I could.
I was immediately petrified by the terrifying scene that my eyes captured. There was a dead man on the floor; unfortunately I arrived too late. His lifeless and completely bloodied body lay with his chest open and empty. I went closer to look at the hole.
━━ It couldn't have been a bear, there are no scratches... it was just a fatal blow to the chest…
━━ Well now... are you looking for this?
I heard a booming voice behind me, and I looked back. He was identical to Itadori, even the color of his hair, and was more muscular. Furthermore, there was something different in his gaze: cruelty. There were two extra eyes just below the ones already on his face, and he was a little taller. But it didn't have four arms.
Gojo was right, really, the impossible in the field of magic is just a matter of opinion.
I looked at the hand he offered to me, there was the man's heart, and it was pulsing a little. My reaction was to run as far as I could, and even then I could hear his evil laugh.
━━ Run, run and hide, bunny! Just don't let me find you!
Fighting Sukuna would be suicide, and suddenly I found myself lost in the forest. How can I? How am I lost in the fucking forest I've been wandering through my whole life? I know this place like the back of my hand
I was on the verge of having a panic attack, I ran as if my life depended on it — and it did — if I died, I wouldn't be able to protect the people I love. I sneaked between some trunks and trees, until I got close to a stream, where I could hide behind some rocks. The only thing I heard now was my heartbeat and the sound of water, along with some owls.
When suddenly, I feel a hand touch my shoulder.
━━ Oh, what a shame... I found you!
Sukuna's hands went to my hips, squeezing tightly as he tried to hold me in his lap. I struggled and screamed, it seemed like my powers were useless now, because when your emotions are shaken, your magic weakens. He didn't even tickle that son of a bitch.
━━ I love skittish women, you know that?
The blood on the cursed palms stained my white dress, which was now practically scarlet, and also stained my skin. Despite all my efforts, nothing worked, he ended up throwing my body over his own shoulder, while I continued to struggle.
━━ Look, I'm trying not to hurt you, but you're making things difficult, bunny.
He laughed sarcastically, I was a complete joke now. A sorceress from the Jujutsu Academy who couldn't protect herself, unfortunately my emotions still shook me a lot and this made my techniques difficult.
I looked at the ground, seeing some footprints that the tallest one left. What would become of me now? Was he going to kill me? Swallow me alive?
My eyes were starting to tickle a little, as if an invincible sleep was ravaging my eyelids, which became increasingly heavy, until I sighed one last time, and fell into a deep sleep.
[...]
I woke up in a daze, with my senses deadened by the oppressive darkness that enveloped me. My mind tried to comprehend the situation while my body remained still, I felt something around my wrists, a cold material. The feeling of being captive, enclosed in darkness, left me with severe restlessness.
I then sat down, on what seemed like a very soft carpet, at the same time I heard the noise of the chains. I wish this was just a dream.
━━ Shit… — I sighed.
━━ Good morning, sleeping beauty.
I heard his harsh voice ring through the room, when the fireplace was lit, with its purple flames. Now the environment had become illuminated, and I could see better where I was. It looked like an old living room, perhaps from imperial times, with sophisticated furniture.
Sukuna was there, a few meters away from me, sitting in a leather armchair, wearing a black kimono and with his arms crossed. He smiled at me, like an idiot smiles when he knows he's won.
━━ What’s this? — I was still disoriented, it felt like I had hibernated. ━━ How long did I sleep?
━━ Just a few hours, relax.
━━ Where am I? What is this place?
━━ My palace. You're in my living room — he opened his arms and showed me the room.
I felt my head boil and whistle, like a pressure cooker, and if this were a cartoon, there would definitely be smoke coming out of my nostrils and ears. A tantrum was rising in me, and I could even feel my powers coming on, but it had no effect.
Instead, my left shoulder started to burn.
I groaned in pain and started panting. Until I looked to the side and noticed a mark on my skin, like a seal or something similar. Had he blocked my powers? For the love of the elder gods, someone kill me.
━━ Oh, my dear... you won't be able to use your powers, not here — he sighed, as if he was saying something completely casual. ━━ The more you try, the more the seal will burn, and as I'm sure you don't like feeling pain, I recommend stopping…
━━ You son of a bitch... — were the most sincere words I could come up with.
━━ Aww, this hurts... — he placed a hand on his chest after that insult.
━━ Honestly, I'd rather you kill me right away.
He laughed then, a strangely satisfying laugh, like someone who had just heard the best joke of the year.
━━ Kill you? No no. I have other plans! — He got up from the armchair and walked over to me. ━━ What would be the fun in killing such an adorable little creature like you?
━━ What are you going to do? Leave me here to decorate your living room? I'm pretty sure I'm not part of the decor.
━━ No, no... I just want company, you know? — he patted my head, as if I were a dog. ━━ I was gone for so many eras... and you were the first pretty face I saw. So I thought "why not bring her here?"
━━ That's ridiculous.
━━ Well, maybe it is. I don't care — he shrugged and walked to the room's huge door. ━━ We can play later, bunny. Now I have some important topics to solve as a king.
The moment he closed the door I started struggling and swearing. I was furious and felt like crap. How could I have fallen into his clutches? How did this happen?
Now look where I am! On the carpet in the living room of this huge palace where he lives, alone, chained, powerless and in the dark. If he swallowed me all at once, it would be a much more dignified death. But for him, it might be funny to see me suffer like this.
I tried to look at the windows, and saw that they were covered by long, thick black curtains.
The only source of light I had left was this fireplace with a purple flame. I stood up and noticed how dirty I was, with dried blood and the smell of iron that entered my nostrils. The chains were only attached to my wrists, and they were considerably long, they didn't keep me completely immobile.
I heard a voice whisper something inaudible.
I was surprised and remained silent, listening carefully to see if the voice said anything again. And so it happened, a shame I couldn't recognize it. However, I saw that the voice had come from the fireplace, so I approached it slowly. Were there any souls?
They said something again.
━━ What? — I whispered.
━━ Fresh soul…
By the gods, it's not possible.
━━ FRESH SOUL! — several voices said together, and then a hand came out of the fire and grabbed my ankle.
I screamed in surprise and tried to free myself, but to no avail, as another hand came to grab my other ankle. My body fell to the floor at the same moment, using as much strength as I had left so I could kick those hands and they let me go, while I clung to the carpet. I managed to kick some of them, however, then others came and grabbed my ankles, pulling me towards the fire.
I was being pulled by a legion of souls. Fighting was in vain, I no longer had as much strength as before.
━━ FRESH SOUL! FRESH SOUL!
That ghostly chorus scared me even more, so I had no other option:
━━ SUKUNA! SUKUNA!
I screamed, desperate, and in a few seconds he appeared. The door to the room was slammed against the wall when he stormed in and shouted at them.
━━ RELEASE HER NOW!
The souls obeyed and released my ankles, while Sukuna snapped his fingers and made the chains disappear. He bent down and picked me up, holding my legs and my back. He didn't hold me sloppily like he had in the forest, this time he was really careful, and that left me perplexed.
However, this experience was so scary that it made me cry with anxiety.
━━ Why didn't you just throw me in a fucking dungeon!?
━━ The palace is mine, I decide where I put you — he began to walk out of the room, heading into a vast hallway. ━━ Besides, there must be something much worse in the dungeon.
I remained silent, as I was in the grip of this powerful curse. The only thing I could do was accept my fate, and accept whatever it was going to do to me. I didn't have much of a chance to resist, because even though I'm without the chains, I still have the seal on my shoulder.
He continued walking a little further down the corridor, carrying me, until he reached a… room?
The walls were covered in dark velvet, in a shade of moss green and there were large crimson curtains, which adorn the large windows, leaving the light scarce and filtered, which gave me a feeling of seclusion. In the center is a colossal four-poster bed, ornamented with what I thought was gold and carved from dark wood.
Persian rugs covered the stone floor, and there was an ebony table next to it. In the far corner of the room was a fireplace that crackled softly, casting dancing shadows on the walls. After this experience with the cursed souls, I have a certain trauma, but apparently it's "common fire".
I also noticed one or two paintings on the wall, with images from Japanese folklore.
━━ Take a shower and it won't take long to go downstairs.
━━ Down the stairs? For what? — I questioned, as he placed me on the ground.
━━ You have to feed.
So, he closed the bedroom door and left me completely alone. I looked up from the bed and noticed a white kimono. I took it and went to another oak door, which was a bathroom.
There, I took a good shower to remove the blood from my body, and take a few deep breaths, while the warm water kissed my skin. I sighed heavily several times, thinking about how my family and friends were doing. Were they already looking for me? Does everyone already know that Sukuna is on the loose?
What if I never get the chance to see them again?
I should have had lunch with Toji more often, and I should have hugged Megumi harder and longer. A few tears rolled down my face when I thought about it, but I preferred to avoid dwelling on that thought. I dried my body with a red towel that was there and got dressed with my kimono, leaving the blood-stained dress on top of the marble sink.
Leaving the room, I paid attention to the large windows in the hallway. The sky was strange, like the end of a very cloudy day. I descended huge stairs that seemed to be made of ivory, adorned with red carpets that slid down the steps.
At the bottom of the stairs, he was waiting for me. His expression was friendlier than yesterday when we first met. He didn't have four eyes, nor a sarcastic smile.
━━ It is a little big, but from the looks of it, it fit — he said, looking at the kimono. ━━ Then I'll get you better clothes.
I nodded silently and followed him as he walked, heading to a huge dining room. All the rooms in this palace were certainly dark, with these chandeliers that provided very good lighting, but did not take away from the funereal air.
There was a huge dining table in that room, like those you see in huge banquets in medieval films. Sukuna felt on edge, and pulled out a chair next to me for me to sit on, and I did so.
━━ Then what you will do? Snap your fingers and make food magically appear?
He laughed softly and shook his head.
━━ You're smart, I appreciate that — he said calmly. ━━ What do you want to eat and drink?
I gave a description of some food and a drink, quite accurately, saying everything. And immediately, he snapped his fingers, making it appear on the table.
━━ Make sure you eat right, okay?
Was that a way for him to show that he cared about me or what? Because if he was trying to convey some credibility, he wouldn't succeed.
I thanked him shyly and began to eat quietly, while he remained next to me, with one elbow resting on the table, while one hand was supporting his face. His eyes watched me intently as I chewed and took subtle sips from the glass. It was then that I noticed a bracelet around the man's strong wrist; probably amethyst.
━━ Dessert time now?
He suggested, and in the blink of an eye, a slice of berry pie appeared on a small porcelain plate in his hand.
━━ What? Hm… of course, of course.
He picked up a silver fork and brought it to the slice, which was soft and juicy. Then taking it to my mouth. I was surprised and had no reaction for the first three seconds, until I finally accepted and ate it.
What's up with this guy? Is he doing what the witch did to Hansel? She fed him a lot until he was chubby so she could eat him.
Sukuna looked at me differently. I would say he didn't look at me as someone who would kill me, but with a certain appreciation. A certain compassion, perhaps. But, that silence was strange, so I decided to ask:
━━ Where did this bracelet come from? — I finished chewing some of what he had given me. ━━ I mean, it doesn't really fit your aesthetic.
━━ Not really, but I love it. I've been using it since the day I got it.
━━ Love? — I gently licked my lower lip, collecting the crumbs. ━━ I'm sorry, I can't imagine someone like you is capable of love.
━━ I didn't knew I had this ability either, until the woman in my life showed up — he said, taking another piece on his fork.
━━ Have you ever fallen in love? — now I was really perplexed.
━━ Unfortunately, yes.
From the tone of his response, I could guess that she had broken his heart.
━━ It must not have been a good experience, I'm sorry.
━━ It was a great experience — he gave me some more pie. ━━ But I fell in love with someone who was my complete opposite.
━━ Was that a long time ago?
He laughed softly.
━━ Since the Heian era. She was the sorceress of the imperial family — how strange to see him talking like that. ━━ Strong, smart, powerful, fucking beautiful…
As much as he kidnapped me and is harmful to humanity, I can't hate him. Why can't I hate him? It's all so confusing, he doesn't seem like the monster everyone says he is.
━━ Did she not return your feelings? — I ate the last piece that was left.
━━ It's a question I still ask today. Unfortunately, the doubt will be eternal, since she was killed and I couldn't declare myself.
━━ D-Dead? By the gods, by whom?
━━ For the damned Gojo clan... — I swear I heard his voice shaking with anger. ━━ They took her from me... all because of envy, since she was better than them in everything.
━━ Which clan was she from?
━━ Zenin.
Oh, an ancestor!
━━ It's my clan... — I ended up thinking out loud.
I didn't even have time to lose myself in my reverie, as I saw three young women entering the dining room. They were wearing very revealing clothes, exposing many parts of their bodies and they went laughing towards the pink-haired man, hugging him and kissing his face.
I cleared my throat in the most blatant way possible, making them look at me.
━━ Oh, these are…
━━ Concubines. Every king has them, and I know what they're for.
I got up from the chair and started walking away.
━━ Have fun with him, girls. Bye-bye!
I smiled at them without showing my teeth, they waved at me, while I turned my back and went as quickly as possible to the stairs. Why do I feel angry about this? It's something that goes beyond embarrassment, beyond simply thinking I'm getting in the way.
I was truly "upset".
I had a strange dream when I took a nap. This seal on my shoulder makes me "weaker" and makes me feel a little more drowsy, thanks to the damn restriction. During this dream, I was walking in a forest with beautiful Sakura trees, the cherry blossoms were blooming and it was night. The light of the full moon illuminated the place, it was peaceful.
I heard laughter in the distance and my feet guided me close to a beautiful stream.
I saw Sukuna from afar. In its original form. He was extremely tall, muscular and had four arms. His body was covered in a white kimono with some black patterns drawn on it. There was a woman with him, who had her back to me while I could see him... smile!?
━━ I think I should have made more bracelets, right?
The woman's voice was sweet, but I couldn't recognize it. Is this the woman of his life? The one he had mentioned in the dining room?
━━ Choose an arm for me to use, you have four options!
━━ I'll choose this right here!
And so I saw her putting an amethyst bracelet on him, the same bracelet he was wearing.
[...]
The next day, I woke up and opened the curtains in my room — the sky was cloudy and dark — and then went to make my bed. The kimono was a little wrinkled, since I only had that outfit.
The bedroom door suddenly opened, and it was him. Who else would it be, right?
━━ Good morning princess, I brought you new clothes.
He placed them on the bed, and I took a good look. The fabrics seemed to be of quality, but I had one condition to use them.
━━ If it's your concubines' clothes, I'd rather be naked.
━━ It's totally fine for me.
He crossed his arms and I froze. Did this idiot actually agree with this idea?
━━ What?
━━ Fine by me. It'll be even more fun that way.
As much as I don't like the idea, I can't show weakness. I immediately took one of my hands to the bow, which was on the back of the kimono, and pulled it so it could come undone. The bow came undone and the piece of clothing fell to the floor, leaving me completely exposed.
His eyes roamed over my skin, taking in every feature of me. Like he was taking a good look, to be able to memorize what I looked like naked. A gentle breeze came from the window, making me shiver, and I felt my nipples harden.
He laughed softly, a laugh of satisfaction that was extremely clumsy.
I curled up, dead with shame, trying to hide my body with my hands. Sukuna was only a few centimeters away from me, and I felt so vulnerable that it seemed like a lie.
━━ I'll get you some other clothes — he said, with a smirk, going to the bedroom door. ━━ Nice body, by the way.
I felt my face blush when he "breathed" this last compliment, before leaving the room. I sat on the bed and covered my body as best I could with the kimono, waiting for him to return with the new clothes.
He seemed to be ogling me at that time. My heart was racing, and my cheeks were still hot. I was a little shaky, due to the growing nervousness that was growing in me as I kept reliving this scene in my head.
Sukuna returned to the room minutes later.
━━ Here, I think it's your size — he handed me some folded black clothes. ━━ And, don't worry, it is not from the girls.
━━ Thank you... — I was going to get dressed, and I noticed that he was still there, but leaning against the wall and with his arms crossed. ━━ You can go, I'll be right there.
━━ Nah, I feel good here — he smiled mischievously. ━━ Don't worry, you have nothing to hide from me.
I swallowed, and went to get dressed, feeling his eyes on me. I had panties, a dress and socks that went up to just above my knees. I put on the panties, sliding the underwear down my legs and then picked up the dress. It looked short — and it really was — with a slightly more accentuated waist, like a corset, and delicate straps, and I also put on socks, since walking barefoot on that stone floor was horrible.
━━ Don't you think... the dress is a little short? — I pulled the skirt down a little, seeing that it barely covered my ass.
━━ No, I think it's perfect — he motioned for me to go through the door first, and so I did.
As we walked down the hallway, I heard him laugh softly and felt his eyes fixed on my ass as I tried to pull down my skirt several times.
Apparently I would be alone all day, as he had said he had "important tasks". He also said that I could freely walk around the palace, except for the fourth and fifth floors. I said that I understood everything and that I would not break any rules.
But when he left, I went up the huge staircase until I reached the fourth floor. Unfortunately, when I was about to go further down the corridor, I was stopped. There seemed to be an invisible wall that wouldn't allow me to proceed.
━━ It must be because of that restriction seal — I grumbled as I looked at my own shoulder.
With no other options left, I went down the stairs and "adventured" to the second and third floors. The first floor was where there was the dining room, the kitchen, the main hall, and what appeared to be a wine room.
On the second floor, there was my bedroom and three others, next to the living room in which I had been trapped at first, and a treasure room, with mountains and mountains of gold, jewels, chests, etc. That room was so bright that it seemed to have irritated my eyes.
On the third floor I saw a music room, a painting room and especially a huge library, which is where I entered without thinking twice.
The space is vast and lit by antique chandeliers, whose flames flicker gently, casting dancing shadows on the shelves full of books. The walls are covered in dark wood panels, decorated with intricate carvings that represent mythical creatures, or something very similar. The shelves are made from the same dark wood, displaying an impressive collection of perfectly aligned, leather-bound volumes, from the finest books to grimoires.
I noticed a reading table decorated with upholstered chairs. There were two or three grimoires on top of it, next to an old map made of yellowed paper.
At the end of the library there was a spiral staircase that led me to a mezzanine adorned with colorful stained glass windows, which filter daylight in hypnotic patterns throughout the room, what's more, the air is full of various incense. I think I could stay here for the rest of my life.
I didn't take any books from the shelves, I preferred to read one of the ones on the reading table that I had seen before. I sat comfortably in the chair, and the moment I opened it, a page fell out. It wasn't from the book, it was on cream paper that had something written on it.
He said "my greatest curse is being in love with someone I can't have."
That could only be Sukuna's handwriting, and deep down I felt sad for him. Just remembering the way he talked about her yesterday, I could imagine how broken his heart was. Was I really feeling compassion for him?
There could just be something wrong with me.
[...]
After spending the whole afternoon reading a book of spells and seeing which ones I knew, and which ones I wanted to learn, it was starting to get dark. He still hadn't come back, and I was starting to get bored.
Well, he didn't say anything about me not being able to cook, right?
I left the library and went to the stairs, hurriedly going down and going to the kitchen. It's incredible that he had so much stuff in that pantry, but he didn't cook. Was this all laziness or what?
I remembered something my mom used to make for me: cupcakes. When I was a child, it was very common for the house to always smell like these cookies. It was something I also did for my nephew and brother when I had free time.
Are they okay?
I didn't want to think too much about it and went to prepare the ganache first so I could let it cool while I prepared the dough. The dough was vanilla, and there were even fresh cherries for me to put on top, along with the whipped cream.
Almost everything was ready, the cupcakes were in the oven and the ganache was cooling.
━━ What are you cooking? — I felt Sukuna's cold fingertips slide down the back of my neck.
━━ You don't know how to arrive in a conventional way, do you? — I got goosebumps and complained, looking back and seeing him with a mischievous smile. ━━ It's a vanilla and chocolate cupcake.
━━ The smell is great.
━━ Thank you, wait until you eat. Or do you only eat humans?
He laughed, and I could see that I caught him by surprise.
━━ I eat normal things too.
The cupcakes were finally baked, and now I had removed them from the oven so they could cool on the counter. I sat on top of it.
━━ Now I have to wait for it to cool before I can fill it.
━━ Do you get burned by this? — he mocked.
━━ No, but the restriction seal leaves me vulnerable to these “ordinary human” problems.
━━ If you behave properly, I'll remove him.
He started opening the dumplings with the knife and holding them with his hand. I laughed softly.
━━ For what? For me to kill you?
━━ It depends, if it's to have you on top of me, I think it's worth it.
I felt my face heat up again, as it had earlier when he saw me naked. What is it about him that can disconcert me so easily? I even seem to like him.
━━ Aren't you going to fill it with me?
━━ Of course, I will.
I took a deep breath and got down from the bench, with an awkward smile, trying to hide how embarrassed I was.
If somebody told me that I was going to fill cupcakes and eat with Sukuna in the kitchen of his palace, I would bet all my money that it was a lie. But apparently fate had different plans for me.
━━ It tastes spectacular! Congratulations, cupcake! — he said, biting another piece of the cupcake he had in his hand.
━━ Why did you call me cupcake and not princess or bunny this time? — I looked up at the tallest one.
━━ Because you're not defenseless and fragile like a bunny — he continued. ━━ But, you're certainly cute, pretty and delicious like a cupcake.
I had nothing to answer. Now, I'm sure he realizes how he leaves me and does it on purpose.
━━ Then go upstairs and take a shower. I put pajamas on your bed, see if it fits.
━━ Don't tell me it's tiny and short like that dress.
━━ I think I've reached my perversion limits for today, relax, covers everything.
When I went to my room, I took a shower with that wonderful warm water and got dressed in the pajamas he had left for me. It was a delicate white nightgown, with thin straps and a low waist. The fabric was probably silk, judging by its comfort and texture.
The ends of my hair were a little wet, but my skin was fresh and I felt clean and light.
As I looked at myself in the huge mirror, I heard music. A melody coming from some instrument, I was sure it was coming from upstairs and it was probably Sukuna in the music room. Somehow, those notes were mesmerizing me and my feet guided me through the palace to there.
I reached the door of the music room and stood there, silently watching as he was engrossed in his melody. He was sitting in front of the majestic organ, with his skillful fingers dancing over the keys, producing an enveloping harmony that filled the space with powerful, funereal notes. The golden light from the chandeliers was reflecting on the polished keys of the instrument.
As I listened to the majestic music, I felt a strange wave of emotion and non-existent nostalgia invade my mind. The musical notes resonated inside my head, as if I had heard this melody a million times, but in reality it was the first time. I couldn't explain it, but it was as if this song was important to me, as if it had marked me.
Tears welled up in my eyes, sliding silently down my cheeks as I relived ghost memories. It was a feeling of belonging and knowledge. The melody Sukuna played was more than just a sound; it was like an enchantment that created a bridge between the present and a past that I was simply unaware of.
I stayed there until the end, listening note by note, and when he played the last one, he sighed and passed his hand over his face, as if he were thoughtful. He looked back and saw me, his expression went from relaxed to worried in a matter of milliseconds.
━━ Hey Hey! Princess, are you okay? Why are you crying?
He came to me because I just couldn't stop crying.
━━ You... you played this song for me, Sukuna... you played it... — I cried more and more, my mind was wandering, I felt out of my depth. ━━ I-I remember…
I felt his hands on my arms, holding me to try to calm me down while I only knew how to feel sad, and at the same time with this false nostalgia that hit me with the same force as a wave on the beach on a rough tide day. I was losing strength, feeling a strange headache.
If it weren't for him, I would have fallen to the ground, as I ended up fainting.

𝐒𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 - 𝐈 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐃𝐎 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐀 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓
The morning after the fight was a rollercoaster of emotions for Y/N. She woke up feeling cold, the covers kicked to the bottom of the bed, and no one lying next to her. By now, waking up next to Lando felt familiar and too comfortable for her liking. She had grown fond of having him pressed against her every morning, his arms draped around her waist and his nose buried in her neck. It felt weird to not have him next to her when she opened her eyes. And then she remembered why he wasn’t there.
She really wished she could go back to sleep and pretend the previous night hadn’t happened.
Y/N wrapped herself around the covers once again and groaned, feeling almost like a truck ran over her body the previous night. She could blame it on the only margarita she had the night before, but she knew she could only blame the fight she had with Lando. The memories of them confessing their feelings for each other was almost too painful. It was killing them; and maybe it was for the best to call off their “relationship”, if they could even call it that.
As most days in November in Brazil, it was bright and sunny outside, but Y/N was convinced it was for the best if she stayed in for the entire day. Maybe she could catch up on her watching list on Netflix, order junk food and cry her heart out while no one was watching. After all, she was only required to go outside tomorrow, when her PR team asked her to accompany Lando to the paddock during media day.
She managed to not cry just fine so far that morning, but the universe was making it really hard to keep it together. If the emotions weren’t enough, Y/N found out that day that she was nominated for an Emmy Award. It was all over social media, with everyone congratulating her and posting clips of her performance on her latest show. Her phone was blowing up with calls and texts, but she didn’t have the energy to celebrate it.
Suddenly, it all felt too lonely. Y/N had just acquired the biggest conquest of her career, one that she has dreamed of her entire life, and she had no one to celebrate it with. The person she wanted to celebrate with the most was nowhere to be seen. So she cried alone in that hotel room, because there was nothing more she could do. She should’ve been out there celebrating that conquest, but she was weeping for the loss of Lando Norris, of all people in the world.
He wasn’t having the best days himself. After she left, Lando couldn’t bring himself to fall asleep even if he wanted to. He could only think about Y/N leaving their room crying after saying she didn’t trust him; after telling it all went wrong because he could only think about himself. All the work he did to try getting to her heart gone to waste, only because he forgot to apologize.
After a couple of hours after finally getting some sleep, Lando was woken up by knocks on his door. Max had come for him after he didn’t answer his phone for the entire morning. His best friend understood what happened almost immediately when he opened the door, his eyes blood shot from crying too much. Lando sighed before crying more, feeling completely powerless with the situation he was trapped in.
“I fucked up”, Lando admitted, completely defeated. “And fuck, I love her so much. But she’s gone”.
Max tried to cheer him up, attempting to get the pieces back together before he was required to be on track, talking to countless journalists about his job. Lando didn’t want to talk about anything with anyone at that moment, only to Y/N if he could. In the end, with all the suffering he was going through, she was the only person he wanted to talk with to make it better.
“It’s not her fault. It’s my fault. All me. I’m always the problem”, he thought, all day. Everybody knows that Lando can get himself down a self depreciation hole, but now he actually knows it was all entirely his fault. So it was a little harder to get him out of there.
He heard of her Emmy nomination later that day, while they were waiting for breakfast at a bakery. Lando felt a boast of energy in his body, feeling so proud of his girl’s achievement. But when he remembered she didn’t want him there to celebrate it with her, he felt sad once again. He had to retreat back to his hotel room, because it was too painful to pretend nothing had happened while he was outside. People were starting to recognize him, and they could all see the sadness painted all over his face. He couldn’t do it anymore.
The first time Y/N and Lando met again after the fight was on the Thursday morning, as they were waiting for a car to pick them up at the hotel to drive them to the track. He felt uneasy to be around her, not getting to exchange a single world to her. She had grown into his best friend over the past couple of months, him always wanting to share everything with her all the time. So when she avoided his eyes like the plague, it hurt him too much.
Still, he wasn’t one to give up so easily. Lando approached her as she was distracted and said what he was dying to say the entire day. “Congratulations on your Emmy nomination. I’m very proud of you”, he kept his voice low, almost as if he was afraid to say those words. Y/N was looking away from him, but her eyes met his once she heard the words. It was as if she was trying to figure out if it was a figure of her imagination or if he was really saying it to her.
He finally got to see how bad she was as well. Lando knew her like the palm of his hand by then, so he could see that she was suffering too. But he saw a little bit of the light come back to her eyes with his words. But as much as she wanted to throw her arms around him and give him the tightest hug, she knew she had to be tough. So she toughened up and gave him the coldest response.
“Thank you”, she nodded, looking the other way the second after. If Y/N stared into his eyes for too long, she would give into him. Only a few words from him were enough to ignite the fire on her heart once again.
“I would like to talk to you eventually”, he said, still facing only the side of her face. Lando watched her close her eyes and hold her breath. She was trying to not cry again. “If you want to, of course”.
“Not now, Norris”, she walked away without even looking him in the face.
It was hard to pretend everything was fine as they walked together in Interlagos, especially with the whole media surrounding them and ready to fire questions if they noticed something wrong. Luckily, since there was no racing happening, Y/N got to stay buried inside the McLaren motorhome until it was time to go back to the hotel once again.
Everybody noticed something was wrong, especially with the look on Lando’s face. His mood was so down that even Zak Brown noticed it. And judging by how Y/N hid herself in the McLaren hospitality until the whole thing was over, he put two and two together. He tried talking to Norris, but Lando kept assuring everything was fine. No one in the team, specially those who knew the relationship was fake, knew what was going on. How did the lovey-dovey couple go from posting cute pictures on social media to no talking in a couple of days?
Impressively enough, the whole thing that happened between Lando and Y/N didn’t affect his performance at all. He secured P2 in sprint qualifying and maintained the position on the sprint race. And if that wasn’t enough, he got pole position for the main race on Sunday. Yet, he couldn’t feel happy about it enough. None of that seemed to matter, because he couldn’t feel joy at all without Y/N.
He could’ve finished in any position – he could’ve won, for that matter – and he would still feel nothing. It hurt too much to receive nothing but an empty “congratulations” and a lifeless hug, just for the cameras to capture. Lando wanted to punch a wall, and he wanted to punch himself for what he did.
Later that day, when he was back at his hotel room with Max, Lando couldn’t control his crying anymore. He had been excellent at not bursting into tears through the past few days, but it was getting too hard to bottle in the feelings, especially when Y/N’s hands felt cold on his as they walked with fingers laced in public. His best friend had to hug him in order to hold him up and not crumble to the floor.
“Come on, mate. You need to stop crying and go get some rest for tomorrow”, Max pleaded, now having Lando sit down in his bed. “I know this whole thing is hard, but I can’t stand to see you this sad when you should be celebrating the perfect weekend you’re having”.
“I think I lost the love of my life, Max. So of course I’m crying”, Lando wiped off his tears, but they kept streaming from his eyes. “I can’t feel happy without her. She’s everything to me, and knowing I fucked her up makes me feel so stupid. I’m so fucking stupid to not apologize to her. I did everything, but forgot the most important part of it all”.
“Have you tried apologizing again?”, Max asked and Lando nodded.
“I said I wanted to talk to her whenever she was up to talking, but she ignored me”, Lando sighed, throwing his back against the bed. “I would do anything to go back in time and fix this”.
“You don’t need to go back in time to fix this”, Max said. “Look, mate, she has admitted having feelings for you, right? So find the right words, put your pride aside and get her back”.
“You don’t know her. She is as hard-headed as I am. No simple apologize will make her forget the dickhead that I am”, Lando said. “And maybe I really don’t deserve her. She needs someone who has never treated her less than the amazing person that she is”.
“Lan…”, Max tried talking again, but his friend needed to vent more than hearing more advices.
“I would do anything to see her happy again, you know? It’s even worse to know she’s suffering too, because I can never get out of my head that it’s my fault. And I could make her so happy if she gave me another chance. I just know it”.
“I’m not the one who’s supposed to be hearing those words. Talk to her, tell her everything bottle inside you. This time, remember what I said: find the right words. And if it doesn’t work out, well… you already have nothing. You have to at least try”.
Lando went to sleep that night with Max’s words in his head. Months ago, he vowed he would do anything to make Y/N trust him, and he’s yet to try everything in his sleeves. There’s still one more chance, and he would take all the chances he had to have Y/N back.
When Sunday morning came around, Y/N felt almost hungover with the exhaustion from that week. She dragged herself out of bed for the fifth time that week and put on a sundress to enjoy the nice and warm weather outside. Then after breakfast, she waited at the meeting place in the hotel to get to the paddock, ready to put on her best acting and pretend everything was alright. Today would be crucial, because all the eyes would be on her and Lando through the main event of the weekend.
Through the night, before he fell asleep, Lando thought of a thousand ways to get Y/N to talk to him. And if she was finally going to listen to him, he knew what to say. But all his plans were lost when he saw her standing at the hotel lobby, waiting for the car to take them to the track. He thought of a lot of ways to approach her, but he simply rushed into her encounter. And as if their eyes were magnets, she turned to look at him just a few seconds before the collision. Before she could protest, Lando had her engulfed by his body.
She was taken by surprise with the action, but she was even more surprised to how her body reacted to it. Y/N immediately melted into his touch and let her arms around his shoulder, feeling her chest burning into flames and feeling easy to have him so close. She buried her face in his neck and let all the tears she was holding in for days finally fall in relief.
“I’m so sorry about everything”, he whispered in her ear, holding her a little tighter. “I have so much to apologize to you and the right words to say everything, but so little time right now. I don’t want to go one more second without talking to you, because it's been too much for me. I miss you, Y/N”.
“Lando”, she leaned back and looked between his eyes. Y/N could see how this entire thing has impacted him as well, and it hurt to see him hurt too. So she softly ran one of her thumbs though his cheek and smiled, tired of fighting.
“Y/N”, he encouraged, still too nervous with her response. But he felt a little better to see the smile on her lips once again.
“Go in that car and win this race. For me”, she held his face between her hands and squeezed it carefully, assuring him that they were okay, at least for now. Lando was so happy that he pulled her back to the hug.
“For you, anything”, he kissed her forehead, knowing a proper kiss would be too far. “I promise that after the race, I have so much to talk to you about”.
“Don’t worry about it now, okay?”, she searched for his hands and gave it a squeeze. “We’ll talk later”.
Lando couldn’t let go off Y/N after that. They still were very quiet around each other, but it was a relief to have her hands laced with his all the time. Even better to have his arms wrapped around her as they cuddled in his driver’s room during his break. And you can bet he felt amazing when she pressed a kiss to his cheek before helping put on his balaclava.
“Good luck, Lan”, she whispered in his ear as he pulled him for a hug. “I trust you”.
And with the words he has been waiting for months to hear, Lando went into his car with the boost of confidence he needed. So far, he hadn’t won a race in Formula 1, but he had been so close for a lot of weekends. Always P2, never the winner. But now he had the confidence who could make him pass anyone in front of him. He was going to win for Y/N, just because she asked him to. So when he crossed the chequered flag before any other driver, he felt his entire life flash right in front of his eyes. Every sweat and tears dropped for this moment, who had been a long time coming. All these years had finally paid off.
Once he parked the car, everything moved in slow motion for him. The mechanics pulling him in for a hug, and all the other drivers who came to congratulate him as well. It could be a scene taken out of a film, quite easily. And when Lando saw Y/N standing right next to Zak Brown behind the barricade, he could feel his heart at his mouth. She was drowning in proud tears, applauding him with all of her strength. So he didn’t care about anyone else who was calling his name; he simply approached her and gave her the biggest kiss they ever shared.
It’s been only a couple of days since he had last kissed them, but Lando missed her lips as if it had been a year since he last did it. And with that, he felt a weight being lifted off his shoulders, knowing everything was finally alright. His reputation was saved, he had a race win, and he had his favourite girl right there with him. It couldn’t get better than that.
Lando chased her lips once she tried to break off the kiss, not wanting to let go off her yet. But she managed to separate them between giggles. “My P1. I’m so proud of you, Lan, congratulations!”
“I love you”, he mumbled against her lips. “I love you so fucking much”.
Y/N didn’t say it back right at that moment, because there’s still a lot that needed to be said between them before those three words. But she kissed him again, and it said it all. She didn't have to say she loves him because Lando knew it. Looking into her eyes, tasting her on his lips, he knew she felt the same. So he didn’t care about getting no response, because he knew it all in his heart.
“I’ll be back in the blink of an eye. I promise you”, Lando pressed another quick peck to her lips before proceeding with everything he’s required to after the race.
Lando stood on the tallest step of the podium and raised his trophy as high as he could. He splashed his champagne bottle to make a mess on everyone, spotting Y/N on the ground and spraying the liquid far enough to reach her downstairs. He was glowing, and anyone could see that. It showed through the pictures, the interviews, the small talks with people from his team. McLaren made sure the debrief was short so they could all go celebrating the moment that has been a long time coming.
He was ready to party, but there was one more thing left to do.
“You stink of champagne”, Y/N was giggling between his arms. He was spinning her around as they walked into his hotel room, finally having some time along after the race. Nothing could kill the big smile he had stamped on his face.
“Smell it. It’s Chanel”, he joked, pulling Y/N for another kiss. Lando had her pressed against the door once it was close, and it felt too good to have his breath taken away once again by her kisses. He wanted to touch her everywhere just to know she was really there, but once his hands darted under her dress, she stopped him there.
“Not now, Lan. We still have a lot to talk before all of this”, she broke off the kiss, and he agreed with a nod. Suddenly, he was nervous once again, knowing the talk they needed to have had the potential to fix or fuck everything. “Hey, where’s that big smile you were giving me before? I miss it”.
“It is terrified of losing you”, he admitted, making Y/N’s eyes soften for him. She rubbed her thumbs on his cheeks and pouted, making him open a small grin once again. “But you’re right, we need to talk”.
“We don’t need to do this right now, Lando”, she said as he pulled her to sit in bed. He cut her before she said anything else.
“But I want to”, he said, pulling her hands to entwine with his. “Listen, I don’t think any amount of words can fix what I did to you in the past, but I'm very, very sorry. For every bad thing I said about you and every time I mistreated you. Y/N, you never deserved to hear those words from anyone, and I'm sorry I took too long to realize that”.
Y/N nodded and waited quietly while listening to what he had to say. But she could tell that he was nervous, so she encouraged him by rubbing her thumbs on the back of his hand. Lando looked down and smiled at the gesture. It showed how much she cared about him, even though he keeps fucking her up.
“You jumped into this crazy idea just to help me in the blink of an eye, and I never showed you gratitude. Even when I didn’t deserve, you were kind, and you took care of me. And I kept breaking your heart over and over again”, he admitted. “And I regret all of that. I'm so sorry, and I promise you, I'll change”.
“You already have changed”, she ran her fingers through his curls and looked between his eyes. “I know you have, Lando, or else I wouldn't have opened up to you. I just couldn’t bring myself to believe that it was really happening. So I tried to shield myself as much as I could from falling in love with you”.
Lando nodded, a little sad to know that he hurt this relationship so much that she tried not to feel anything for him. But it was nice knowing she felt the same all along, even though they needed some healing.
“And I know you're not the idiot you used to be with me. I understand that you changed and, for you, I would do anything. I would do it all again if I had too”.
“I'm sorry for being so selfish. I was so busy thinking about myself that I forgot how much I had hurt you in the past. I forgot to apologize, and I thought that giving you flowers and kisses would be enough to mend a broken relationship from the start. I was willing to do anything to make you trust me that I forgot the most important part of it all”.
“You understand my point, right?”, she asked, and he agreed with his head. “You showed me that you’re someone worthy of loving, but I just couldn’t trust you at all, because you never showed regret. But now, looking you in the eye, I know that you truly are sorry”.
“I regret every bad word I ever said about you”, he assured. “I think I made my point very clear, but I want to assure you that this thing we have, with sex and the ‘enemies with benefits’, was never just that for me. I would always have that tingle in my heart whenever I was intimate with you and with all the little nice interactions we had, my ice heart started melting for you”.
“Trust me, I know the feeling”, she assured him between giggles. “I also have to apologize to you. The insults weren’t one-sided. And I know you might think it’s all your fault now, but we both know I was a bitch to you as well. So to start in the right place, I have to say, I’m sorry too”.
“Well… I deserved it”, he shrugged, hanging his head down, but Y/N softly brought it up by taking it between her hands.
“No, you didn’t, Lando. You filled me with compliments, and now it’s your turn to take them”, she said. “You also have the kindest heart in the world. You take care of people, and you’re always the energy in the room. You’ve taken care of me on times I needed, and you brought light into my days. You taught me the purest form of love. You make me laugh, and you make me feel like a princess whenever I feel like I'm a monster. You're a good person, Lando. So if anyone is a bitch to you, they better apologize”.
“I used to be so scare of love, but you make it so easy”, Lando looked at her with adoration in his eyes, feeling so great to have his face between her hands. “I love you so much”.
She smiled at him, knowing for sure that now it was safe to say it back. With her eyes filled with tears, she admitted: “I love you so much too, Norris”.
Y/N pulled him for a sweet kiss, finally pouring all the feelings she had for him into her actions. And he savoured every single second of finally having his dream girl all to myself. Lando slipped his arms around her waist and pulled her even closer.
“I thought I had lost you”, he whispered against her lips, feeling his eyes welling up with tears of relief. He felt it all too hard in his chest. “I'm so glad you're here with me”.
“Yeah, I thought we were doomed”, she admitted too, lacing their fingers together and giving his hand a squeeze. “But love always finds a way”.
“For you, I'll hang the stars in the sky, only to bring them back down if you want them back”, he confessed, now pulling her face between his hands. “I hope we can finally stop with the PR thing, or the friends with benefits thing, or whatever other stupid label between us, and properly be a couple”.
She giggled with him and nodded in agreement. “I want it all with you, Lan. You and me, to the end of times”.
“Forever, my love”, he pulled her for a hug and pressed countless kisses to the top of her head. “Also, now that you’re finally talking to me, congratulations again on your Emmy nomination. I’ve never been so proud of you”, he poked her sides and she laughed with his actions.
“Thank you, love”, she kissed his nose, making him blush a little.
“I’ll never get enough of praising you for this. I was so happy when I heard the news. I knew you were extraordinary, and it was just a matter of time until they recognized it”, he affirmed. “I almost exploded for not getting to celebrate it with you”.
“To be fair, I celebrated it crying alone in my room”, she confessed between laughs. Lando's heart faltered at the confession and his smile dropped. Y/N deserved a proper celebration to this incredible achievement in her career.
“You're kidding, right? So we have three things to celebrate tonight”, he said, making Y/N frown in confusion.
“What's the third thing to celebrate?”
“My grand prix win, your nomination and our love, now very much official”, he cracked a smile, making her laugh with his statement. Y/N just had to pull him for another hug and lots of cheek kisses.
“You’re so adorable”.
“Come on, let’s get ready. We have a party to go to”.
As she watched him waltz into the bathroom for a shower, all smiley and happy, Y/N felt her heart lighter again. Everything was exactly where she wished for it to be, and she could finally enjoy it all with him. Love is weird, and sometimes it blossoms in places you would never expect. But it’s good to know you’re loved back, especially by someone as amazing as Lando. In the end, love always makes it right.

How to row a hook-up
MDNI
disclaimer : unprotected sex, quickie, doggy style, creampie, semi public, teasing, breeding kink, no name mentioned
You met him on a dating app. You liked his profile because of his blue hair. It's not common and you love someone with their own personality. He was a traveler, coming we-don't-know-where and indicated that he was around for several days.
There was no expectation, you liked some other profiles. You got some matches and started to talk with them but they weren't interesting or too weird. You gave up for the night and went to bed. Tomorrow evening your friend will arrive and the both of you will head to the most anticipated festival of the year. How exciting is it to finally being able to enjoy music lives.
When you woke up the next morning, you were anything but a portable battery, too much energy, too much happiness... too much eve everything.
You headed to the shower and had a full body wash, hair included. Summer nights were hot and humid, so much so that you needed to wash your hair daily. After getting dressed, you picked up your phone and oh! missing notifications. It was the blue haired cutie. He liked you back! FUCK!
"Hi! I'm here for a few days. I'm going to be honest, I need someone who speaks the local language... Are you in?" 4 hours ago
"Ha ~ Finally, I wasn't that honest. I have a big event this weekend and I am very stressed. It's impromptu but could you help you to reduce this tension?" 4 hours ago
"I mean in a sexual way?" 3 hours ago
"Wait... It's impossible to erase a message on this app??? Fuck it." 5 minutes ago
"You know what? Forget it, nvw. It was unsolicited." now
You laughed. He was cute and kinda strange in a way.
"Hey :) sure I'm in, even for a tension revealed thing if you want." now
You texted back without proofreading, probably because you'd cringe at your message. You tossed your phone on your bed. after all, What are the chances that he will respond now? Obviously none.
You planned to go on a self date, one of your fave thing. You put a little make, mascara and lip gloss, grab your bag stuffed with keys, wallet, a book and your flying phone. Headphones on your ears, you headed out to a cozy restaurant nearby to the hotel.
The atmosphere was hushed, the lights were subdued and the ceiling had mouldings. A perfect place to order a fancy dish and a glass of white wine in the back corner out of sight. After the waiter has taken your order and came back with your drink, you took your book and started peacefully your me-time.
A group of about ten people took the table on the right. They were loud, chaotic dressed in expensive clothing. You sighted and turn on the headphones again. You looked for your phone to play some music. While the tracks scrolled across the screen, he popped up. You jumped on your seat, hurting the table.
- "HOLLY... ", you restrained yourself from screaming and rubbing your knees. The neighbours at the table turned around with surprised looks. "My apologies", you nodded, pressed play to the first track coming and hid behind your book.
"Hello again! Thank God, I'm glad you did answer. I'm not used to dating apps, probably because I'm not allowed to. Had I say I was relieved? Haha I'm rumbling... Anyways, I'm going to dinner in a restaurant, would you like to recommend me a dish? I'm so lost... " 3 minutes ago
You laughed softly.
"Okay, it's funny because I'm in a restaurant too currently. I order a croque madame, it's a hot sandwich studded with béchamel sauce, cheese and ham plus there's a sunny side up on the top of it. It comes with a salad. So, I guess you may order this too!" now
"THANK YOU!" now
Oh the answer came very quickly this time. You left your phone on the table with the book, as the waiter came back with your dish.
Oh it was delicious... The bread was crispy outside but still soft and buttery. The egg was perfect, the ham and cheese tasty and smoked. It was heaven, all of this combined with the jazz music playing... It was orgasmic.
"I guess you gave me a good choice. It looks yummy. *one picture attached *" now
Your eyes widen once again. The picture of his dish was exactly the same than yours, the dishes, the tablecloth, everything. You raised your head and started to search around you. He was here.
*Wait... We are in the same restaurant. Oh lol, where are you?" now
You kept looking for some blue hair but failed. Was it a joke? Where was he? After 5 minutes, your message was still unread. You decided to go to the bathroom, leaving your things under the waiter supervision.
Until someone grabbed your hand and guided you to the first nearby room. You were about to scream when your kidnapper switch on the light. Blue hair. Oh.
- "Hey... hey hey hey", he whispered "I'm so sorry, I caught you by surprise. I recognized you when I entered the restaurant earlier. I wanted to give you a hand sign but as I was with my band and the staff, it was impossible. Please accept my apologies. But jeez you're beautiful. Ah sorry I'm rambling again... Hey? Hello, Earth?"
Of course you heard him but you were shut. He was stunning, his delicate face, his bobba eyes contrasted so well with his blue hair. You were subjugated.
- "Yeah? Hi...", the words fell from your mouth.
- "Are you okay? Are you shocked?" he panicked "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry.".
You put your hand on his chest. "Are you real...?" you asked randomly. He burnt out of laughter, took your hand and swapped your fingers with his own.
- "Hello sweetheart, yes I'm real", he cooed with a chuckle. He took your chin and replaced a strand of hair out of your face. "May i kiss you?"
Wow, that was bold but not as bold as you, putting your hands on his shoulders for leverage, you reached to his mouth and put a lingering kiss on his lips. He caught you and deeper the kiss, glued his body to yours.
- "Ah princess... I want you now, can I have you now?", You looked at him and nodded. "Use your words baby. ".
- "Ha.... yes, please. Are you not afraid that someone caught us?".
He cadged you between his body and the door.
- "No, I'm not. You'll have to stay quiet if you don't want to be discovered.", He leaned to kiss you again. Both of you had a little time. His hands made their path under your shirt going for the claps of your bra. You weren't wearing a bra, oops. He broke the kiss and gave you a stern look.
- "Oh my. What do we have here?", he raised your hands with one hand while his others reached up your top, exposing your chest to the cold air, making your nipples harder than they already were. He started to leave little pecks on your neck, down to your collarbone, decorating it with purple and finally reaching to your left boob.
- "Let's start with your heart side would you?", he rolled the sensitive tip between his digits, cutting off a moan of you. He urgently put his hand on your mouth. "Stay quiet baby if you don't want to get caught".
He freed your hands which ended up on his shoulders again and licked your nipple. Your chest arched, giving him more flesh. You moaned again, silently. His other hand found a place on your hips, rubbing slow circles.
- "Touch me, please...", Your voice was almost a whisper. "May I have your fingers in me?"
It was all it took for him to snap. He got back on his feet, turned you around and lifted your skirt.
- " Oh baby wants my fingers?", he teased. "Baby wants me to finger your needy hole?"
He didn't give enough time to answer before he ripped soaking panties, stuffed you with two fingers at an incredible rough pace. You felt the first sprinkles of pleasure and he added a third one. Soft moans weren't enough, louder ones erupted from your throat as he stopped them by placing a hand on your filfy mouth.
- "I told you to stop being noisy", his action hadn't the expected effect, your creamed his hand. "Fuck that's hot. May I give you my cock sweetie, uh? Want me to fill you up? Breeding you with my seeds?".
Unable to form a coherent sentence, you gave him a "Ha... y... es fuck, gimme y-your see-seeds".
While licking his digits, he undid his pants, freeing his erected dick from the confines of his underwear. One hand came to press on your back to put your pussy on display. You felt him, rubbing his cock along your folds, teasing your entrance. You tried to push your hips back on him to finally get your dream fulifilled.
- "tsk... baby no... that's not how we ask to be fucked"
- "please, I can't... oh shit!", he penetrated you in one full stroke. He snapped his hips on yours, making the head of his penis kissed your cervix, forcefully. The pace he chose left no space for mercy. You thought you were going to cum only by being penetrated until he reached your clit only to play with it. As his pace maintained a high drive, he doodled circles on your bundle of nerves.
- "Fuck baby girl, cum... cum for me. Cum on my cock, I want to feel it", he bite your ear. Then everything became colorful. You came hard around him, squeezing your insides like never you did before. He helped by guiding you through it. The only sound remained was the lewd, squishing sound of his cock entering you again and again. He took him a few pumps before he filled you full of him.
- "hhhhaaa fuck baby, I'm bringing you to my hotel room. I can't leave you like that."
hiii, it's been a while! I hope you enjoyed this story. it was supposed to be a drabble, as usual, it's a failure 🤷🏻♀️

0.05 sunny days - hanni pham
synopsis - after a very stressful week of promoting you get some time off, what's the best way to spend free time? with your love, hanni of newjeans
warnings / notes - loosely based off of sunny days by wave to earth, idol!hanni + le sserafim!reader, mentions of heights(?)
wc - 2.1k
you laid on the cold wooden floor as you allowed yourself to finally relax. your body was burning, not only temperature wise though, every breath you took felt like breathing in fire. your phone began to ring, the special ringtone told you who it was. ignoring your aching muscles, you stood up and walked to where you had lazily tossed your phone.
‘han♡’ your phone read.
you rapidly pressed the green button and brought the phone up to your ear.
“hello?” you said.
“is that how you greet your girlfriend?” hanni jokingly scolded.
“sorry, i had a long day.” you said, allowing yourself to fall onto your bed. “how are you?”
“i’m good, but let's talk about you.” hanni began saying. “you sound so worn down and exhausted.”
“well yeah, it's the last week of promotions, we have to go out with a bang.” you chuckled dryly.
“how about i come over tomorrow, make you a nice meal, and you get to relax?” she asked. “or we could plan for another day?”
“tomorrow is fine, but i’ll go to your dorm, they’re going to want to do something tomorrow.” you said, referring to your group mates.
“ok, hyein is going to be happy to see you.” hanni laughed. “she's been nonstop talking about you and how much she misses you.”
“han, i have to go, we're going out to a team dinner, but i’ll call you when i get back if it's not too late.” you said, hating the fact that you needed to hang up.
“ok, i’ll wait for your call,” she said. “have fun, i’ll see you tomorrow.”
“bye hanni, i love you.” you said, your phone resting in between your shoulder and your cheek as you searched through your closet.
“i love you too, y/n.” she said. hanni hung up shortly after.
you dreaded going to team dinners, especially after a busy day, you're far too tired to properly enjoy the moment.
a knock was heard on your door and then the twisting of the knob.
“we leave in 20 minutes.” said chaewon.
you nodded your head and she promptly exited your room. you looked through your closet until you found a comfortable yet proper outfit. you quickly changed and grabbed your jacket off of a hanger. you put it on and picked your phone up off of the dresser. you then made your way to the living room where you waited for your members.
soon enough you headed off to the team dinner and spent a few hours there. after what seemed like a really long time you went home. you checked your phone and saw the time, it read 02:51. you had been there for at least four full hours. you contemplated dialing hanni’s number, but decided against it and texted her instead.
i'm home, sorry i couldn't call you
you texted her. you had never been too good with words so you didn't text or talk too much. you preferred to listen to others.
after sending the message, you opted for going to take a quick shower and then heading to bed. so you did those things, you had gone to bed at around four in the morning.
you woke up at nine. it was sunny outside, not a single cloud in the sky. you got out of bed and got dressed, sending hanni a text quickly.
just woke up
i'll be over in an hour
you assumed hanni had not yet woken up due to her not reading your message from last night. you went out to the kitchen and grabbed a tangerine, saying good morning to sakura who happened to be in the kitchen and telling her that you'd be going out. having your phone in one hand and your tangerine in the other you began your very short walk to a nearby café for a coffee. you enjoyed the gentle breeze and the sounds of the mildly empty streets. you peeled the citrus as you walked holding onto the peel so you could properly dispose of it later.
in roughly 15 minutes you had reached the evidently empty café. you pulled the door and the bell placed a top the door chimed. a worker promptly welcomed you. you walked up to the counter and skimmed over the menu. you made your decision and began to tell the worker your order.
the worker wrote the order down and informed you that it would be out shortly. you made your way over to a nearby wall and saw that there were a few new notes hung up on the pinboard. many were love confessions and others were people just writing about a bad day. they all seemed to be the same. yet only one had caught your eye.
it had your nickname on it. a nickname that only family and close friends knew. could it have been a coincidence? that nickname was never exclusively yours after all. your curiosity suddenly got the best of you, so you began to read the note.
yet just as you began to read it, the worker called your name. you walked over to the counter and picked up your drink and bread. you thanked the worker and began your walk to the newjeans dorm. you calmly drank your tea and observed the partially empty sidewalk. you saw how the branches on the trees swayed with the air.
the streets were quieter than usual, maybe it was because of the time. you walked at a constant pace, never walking faster or slower. you kept walking for another ten minutes before reaching your destination. you walked into the building and took the elevator to the floor where the dorm was located. after about two minutes you had reached the door.
taking your keys from your pocket, you unlocked the door. you pushed the door open and there stood hyein. she seemed to still be asleep, her eyes barely open and her hair a mess. once hyein had fully registered that this wasn't a weird dream, her eyes widened. her mouth suddenly agape as she struggled to find the right words.
“hi hyein, is hanni still sleeping?” you asked, closing the door behind you.
“yeah, she's seemed very tired yesterday.” hyein said.
“is everyone still sleeping?” you asked her.
“no, minji unnie is awake, i don't know if dani unnie and haerin unnie are awake yet.” she said, searching her brain for a solid answer.
“i brought everyone some bread.” you said, lifting up a small bag in the air.
“thank you unnie.” hyein said, hugging your side.
the sound of a door opening alerted you both. out of the door came a very sleepy looking hanni pham. your eyes lit up as your legs moved on their own. in just a few steps you held the girl in your arms tightly. your stress seemed to evaporate, just like water on a really hot day.
you felt hanni melt into your embrace. she wrapped her arms tightly around your waist and you hugged her a bit more tightly, as if she could possibly vanish at any given moment. you two stayed like that for a moment before the sound of someone coughing snapped you back to reality. your head snapped in the direction of the noise. there stood kim minji, with a look of disgust on her face.
“good morning minji.” you said, an enormous smile on your face.
“good morning,” she said. “please keep your relationship behind closed doors, it's not the first thing i'd like to see in the morning.” she said as she pretended to gag.
“you're just jealous that you're single,” you said, chuckling lightly. “don't worry min, one day you'll know what this feels like.”
minji rolled her eyes playfully and walked past you two towards the kitchen.
“i brought you guys some bread.” you said, as you rubbed hanni’s back.
minji nodded in understanding and disappeared into the kitchen. hanni yawned and you turned to face her again. there were those eyes, the eyes that you had fallen in love with. you just stared at her for a few moments before your mind register the fact that she had been trying to get your attention for a few moments. you shook your head and paid attention to what she was saying.
“we should go out, it's a really nice day,” she said. “we could just walk around aimlessly.”
you nodded your head and placed a gentle kiss in her forehead.
“what was that for?”
“it just felt right.” you said, smiling at her.
“i’m going to change, ok?” she said. “i’ll be out in a few minutes.” you nodded and walked off to the kitchen as she walked back into her room.
staying true to her word, hanni came out of her room after 15 minutes. you observed her outfit a green hoodie and a pair of jeans, she had left her hair down. you admired her for a few moments before she began to drag you out of the apartment. bidding your goodbyes the door shut behind you both. hanni held your hand as she led the way to the main entrance of the building.
you never second guessed hanni’s decision in places. you had begun to come up with multiple ideas of where she could be taking you. you two kept walking until you got to a train station. you raised your brow at her only for her to laugh it off. you kept trying to figure out where you were going, but nothing came to mind.
you two got into a train and began to make your way to the place hanni had in mind.
“where are we going?” you asked, turning to face her.
“somewhere,” she said. “it's a surprise.” hanni stifled a giggle and tried to pass it off as a cough but failed miserably.
the whole train ride you kept thinking of all the possibilities but nothing ever made sense in your head. you looked at maps but nothing seemed possible. so you kept thinking, over and over again.
to say that this was surprising would be an understatement. you expect somewhere small, like a park, not lotte world. your mouth was agape and your eyes were wide open. you kept looking between hanni and the castle that stood in front of you.
“do you like the surprise?” she asked, taking your hand in hers.
“i love it.” you said as you leaned in to kiss her cheek. hanni rapidly stopped you, reminding you of where you were. you composed yourself and remembered that you were an idol.
although you were both wearing masks, you knew it wouldn't be enough. people were always bound to find out who you were. you took hanni’s hand and began to walk into the castle. the first attraction you visited was the haunted house. surprisingly, it wasn't as scary as you thought it would be.
the next attraction you two visited was the swing tree. hanni had really enjoyed it, you on the other hand didn't like how high up it went. you had to stop momentarily as your heart was beating out of your chest and hanni rubbed your back while stifling her laugh. you bought some water and drank some in hopes that it could help you relax a little, yet it didn't do much. hanni was smiling the whole time, most likely finding the situation very humorous.
“let's go to the gyro drop!” hanni said. “i heard it's really good.”
“does it go up high?” you asked, already feeling mildly nauseous.
“yeah.” she said, her smile momentarily dropping. “we can go on a different ride.”
“let's go to the gyro drop.” you said, determined to make sure hanni had one of the best days ever.
“really?” she asked. “you don't have to if you don't want to.”
“i want to.” you said, smiling widely at her. “let's go.”
once you were seated on the ride, you began to second guess your decision. it seemed to go up so high. you felt nervous, your hands were sweating, and your heart was racing. hanni held your hand as you waited for the ride to start.
in a few moments the ride had begun and hanni let go of your hand. your heart dropped as you saw how high it was going. it was worse than it seemed. once you had reached the top, hanni reached to grab your hand and gave it a light squeeze.
“you’ll be ok y/n.” she said, a smile etched on her face. “breathe.”
you took a deep breath and looked at her, your heart had begun to calm down, you felt well. the sun shines on your skin, as if the sun was brighter now than ever. the sun seemed to blind you. you felt free, you felt that this was the best feeling ever. hanni made this day sunny, with the way she is, she shined just as bright as the sun.

Happy Halloween Baby: Part 2 (Ben Mears x Reader)
Summary: You and Ben definitely weren't expecting the reactions you got when you bring your little one home
Warnings: Mentions of birth, hospital stays etc.
Tagging: @floydsmuse @lewinblue
You woke up one sunny November morning, bleary eyed and still sore from the previous nights, but not as bad as it had been on Halloween night. You smiled at the sight of your husband sitting shirtless in the rocking chair, a dreamy smile on his face and your tiny newborn snuggled against his broad chest, lulled to sleep by Ben's soft breathing and the gentle beating of his heart. Your baby looked so peaceful as Ben's chest rose and fell softly, his hand completely covering the little one's back as he held him protectively.
You snapped out of it when you heard a knock at the door, the latter of the two Dr. Codys entering your room to check on you. "Mornin mommas," she chirped. "How we doing?"
"Still a little sore," you answered. "Most of it's gone but the rest of the downstairs is still a little worse for wear."
"Did you uh.....?"
"Yeah I um....I had a pee break this morning," you told her.
"Good, that's always a good sign," she said.
Ben yawned and woke up, rubbing the grog from his eyes. "Mornin Doc," he said sleepily.
"Mornin Sleeping Beauty," she chuckled. "When did you fall asleep?"
"Probably right after this little guy did," Ben yawned.
"At least ya'll are getting sleep while you can," Dr. Cody laughed. "I know most young mothers who drive themselves nuts without sleep."
"Do I need to give him to you Jen?" Ben asked. "I don't wanna let him go."
"Naw, you don't have to," she said. "He got all his shots after birth so he'll be ok. Just turn him towards me if you can."
Ben tilted himself forward a little with one hand under Sean's little head. Dr. Cody made it quick, listening to Sean's heart and lungs before looking the rest of him over to make sure nothing was amiss.
"Jeez this kid never missed a mark," she remarked, jotting down a few notes. "You guys should be good to go either later tonight or tomorrow morning if nothing else."
That was a huge relief to you and Ben. You had no idea what was going on inside the house and having been gone for almost a week and a half, you were a little bit nervous of what you would find when you got back.
As soon as all was in order and you were given one last look-over, Dr. Cody drew up your discharge papers and you and Ben gathered everything up to go home. Jimmy and Jennifer both helped you bring whatever you needed to the car before you, Ben and Sean were the last to arrive.
"You guys home for dinner tonight?" Ben asked.
"Shift ends at three and then the afternoon staff come in," Jenny explained. "We'll be there either way."
You and Ben said your goodbyes to the pair before loading up in Ben's car and heading for home. You held onto Baby Sean the whole way home as Ben's big hand rested on your denim clad thigh.
"God everybody's gonna shit when they see him," Ben chuckled.
"You think?" you asked him.
Ben's tongue poked out between his pencil thin lips, something he only usually did when he was thinking really, really deeply. "I have an idea," he said.
"What?"
"Wanna play a prank on Eva Miller?"
You smiled and then looked down at Baby Sean resting in your arms. How could you possibly say no to that?
****************************
"Ok, ok shhhh," Ben whispered as you two snuck up to the porch with an empty laundry basket from the garage. In it, you placed the pillow you had brought with you along with Baby Sean and a little paper sign you had made while you were in the hospital which said "Grammy I'm Home". The porch lights had already come on as well as those in the house while inside, you could hear the noises of the coven getting ready for dinner.
Ben rang the doorbell and quickly leapt over the porch rails, hiding with you in the bare flowerbeds. You two watched from the shadows when Eva Miller opened the door, jumping back a little and just barely catching the screech in her throat.
"OH!!!!!! Oh my God!" her cries muffled from the hand clamped over her mouth. "Oh!!! Oh Jeebus!"
You and Ben both laughed as you emerged into the porch light. "Eva you ok?" he asked.
"Oh my God you two will be the death of me yet!" she sobbed. "You had me scared shitless, I didn't know who's baby this was till I saw the sign."
You laughed as Ben picked up Baby Sean from the laundry basket and gently passed him off to Eva. "Oh my God he's absolutely perfect," she said through her tears. "He's so beautiful."
She really lost it when Sean let out a squeaky cry, a tiny fist peeking over the edge of his blanket. "Eva?" Parkins called from the living room. "Eva who's at the door?"
"Park get your ass over here and find out," Eva ordered.
Parkins laughed when he came to the door. "Holy shit!" he laughed. "Had no idea you two were coming home today."
"We thought we'd surprise you guys," you told him.
"Here, get your butts inside, it's freezing out there," Eva told you both.
Ben gathered up the laundry basket and shut the door behind you before Eva handed Sean off to Parkins. "Oh dear Lord," he chuckled. "He doesn't weigh anything."
"He was just under five and a half pounds at birth," Ben told him.
It wasn't long at all before more members of the coven had come to greet you and to see Baby Sean. Father Callahan had been nervous when Sean was placed in his arms, but quickly relaxed as soon as Sean stopped wriggling. Randy and Mark were eager as ever to meet their new baby brother while Chopper and Doc kept sniffing when the unfamiliar scent of a new human had reached their noses. You and Ben thought it was hilarious when Mike and Lucy were holding Sean and Randy has asked when they were going to have a baby of their own.
You and Ben had retreated upstairs to find that the nursery was completely done, much to your surprise. Eva, Mabel, Loretta and Glynnis had all put together the rugs and filled the dresser with Sean's clothes while the walls were finally done, the murals all painted with images from Grimm's Fairy Tales. On the shelves were a whole array of books that Loretta Starcher had gotten from the library, each one dated from Ben's birthdays when he was little while the toys had been hand-me-downs from all the coven members.
"Mike was this your baby quilt?" Ben asked him.
"Yup," Mike answered. "Dad sent that over from Portland while you guys were gone. Sorry if there's a smell to it, Lucy and I tried to get it out but it still smells like my dad's Hai Karate and Old Spice."
Ben took a whiff and sure enough, the smell was as strong as ever. "Oh yeah, there it is," he said, letting out a cough. "Smells like my dad's too."
You placed Baby Sean in the crib, the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls watching over him like a pair of guardian angels with their smiley faces. You and Ben covered him with the quilt and kissed him goodnight before you joined him downstairs for dinner, relieved to be home at last with those who loved you most.

The Siren, the Cook, and the Sister (3)
Sanji x PirateHunter!FemReader (Masterlist) Chapter 3: The Chest (Previous) (Next) Summary: After spending the day with Robin and her crew, y'all part ways. The Strawhats leave with a forbidden souvenir however. Warnings: None
Sanji was the first to wake up in his room much to his dismay. After requesting to stay in the room right next to yours, the cook stayed up for hours, trying to eavesdrop in yours and Robin’s conversation. But he couldn’t decipher anything over Zoro’s and Luffy’s snoring. Disappointed in himself, he got up and made his way downstairs. Much to his surprise, you and Robin were already down.
“Dearest Robin, don’t you look radiant this morning!” bellowed Sanji as he made his way to the table. He scanned Robin quickly, looking for any bruises or cuts on his companion. To his relief, she seemed fine as she ate breakfast. He glanced at you and was surprised to see you still wearing your mask. Must be an ugly bastard, thought Sanji. “Morning Siren,” he added as he took the seat right in front of you.
Great, he woke up. “Morning to you too. Feel free to order whatever you want on the menu, I’m paying for everyone’s meals,” you informed the cook.
“Are you sure?” asked a third voice. Walking down the stairs was a smiling Franky and a sleepy Usopp and Nami. “We eat a lot… especially our captain!”
“I noticed,” you chuckled, “but I’m sure. You’re all Robin’s friends so it would be my pleasure.” Content with your response, Franky patted you on the back and took the seat right next to yours.
Sanji, annoyed by your generosity, muttered under his breath. You side-eyed the cook. Not wanting to offend Robin, you refrained from punching him and did the next best thing, push his buttons.
“Besides with all of the big names that I’ve caught recently, I have enough berries to buy this tavern if I wanted to. You guys eating everything on the menu will actually help ease my load tomorrow when I travel,” you boasted to the group. You weren’t one to flaunt, but you knew this was going to hit a nerve in the cook. And right you were as Sanji’s eye began to twitch when Franky and Robin asked about your adventures as a pirate hunter. You started to recount some stories to the pair plus a fuming Sanji while Nami and Usopp were lost in their own conversation at the end of the table. Not long afterwards, the rest of the crew came down, content to take you up on your offer.
As everyone waited for their meals to arrive, Robin rose, letting everyone know that she was going to get a head start in buying her share of the Sunny’s supplies. You decided to join her, much to Sanji’s dismay. After letting the tavern owner know to put the Strawhats meals on your tab, you and Robin set out, leaving everyone else back in the tavern.
— — —
After a busy morning, the Strawhats were embraced by a clear sky and open sea. As Jimbei steered the Sunny further and further away from the dock, supplies went to their rightful places. Chopper and Brook took the medical supplies to the infirmary. Franky and Usopp put the newly bought tools and raw materials down to the workshop. Robin carried Nami’s cartography paper and books to the library. And Sanji took the various bags of food up to the kitchen with a hungry Luffy trailing behind him.
“Wow, we were able to get a lot of supplies this time around!” exclaimed Chopper. He was pleasantly surprised by plenitude of supplies that sat on the deck, especially after Nami’s worry over the crew’s finances. It seemed that there was more than enough.
“Nami must have haggled with the shop owners,” said Brook. After enjoying a free breakfast, Nami excused everyone of their shopping duties, announcing that she and Usopp were going to handle them instead. She must of figured out how to get more out of their limited berries.
Within an hour, the deck cleared out. All that was left was a large object covered by a tarp that Zoro conveniently leaned on to sleep. Wanting to clear the deck, Sanji yelled at Zoro to wake up who instead continued to snore. Refusing to be ignored, Sanji kicked the item under Zoro, causing him to fall to the ground. He shot up and got in the cook’s face. As the two argued, the large wrapped item slid across the grass on the deck, allowing for the tarp to unravel, revealing a brown chest.
Chopper was the first to notice the chest sitting in the grass. Curious to its contents, he got near it. He took note of its scuff marks and broken lock. The doctor opened the chest and squealed in excitement.
“Woah! Treasure!” Chopper exclaimed, earning the attention of most of his crew members on deck. Jimbei peered over from the wheel. Franky slowly made his way over as Sanji and Zoro stopped their fighting to look over. Brook and Luffy rushed towards the chest. Everyone’s eyes widened in amazement. The chest was filled with berries, both bills and coins.
“Yo-ho-ho-ho! Where did this come from?” asked Brook, amazed by the fortune that sat before him. Before anyone could touch any of the berries inside, the chest was swiftly shut by a blue staff. Nami stood before the crew with her staff in hand and a proud smile on her face.
“While everyone else was exploring the island, I decided to do something productive,” she boasted.
“Hey! I also helped,” added Usopp. He rushed next to Nami. The two posed proudly for everyone to see.
While rolling his eyes, Zoro asked, “And what exactly was that?”
However, before Nami or Usopp could say anything, a loud gasp cut through the air. Robin rushed forward and stared at the chest. Her face paled. “Why is the Siren’s chest here?” questioned Robin. Despite the steadiness in her voice, her eyes radiated with anger, making Nami and Usopp nervous.
“Tell her,” said Nami, hitting Usopp on his side.
Anxiously, Usopp replied, “W-w-well you see, we may have… stolethechestoutoftheSiren’sroomafteryouguysleft.” He started to sweat under Robin’s gaze.
“We? Who’s we? I had no part in this. Usopp was the one who brought it up to the Sunny.”
“Oh you! Don’t act all innocent. You were the one who came up with the plan! You even broke the lock and took some of the berries to buy supplies today!” rebutted Usopp. The two started to argue, shifting the blame from one to the other. Hands sprung out of their shoulders and slapped their mouths shut.
“It doesn’t matter who did what. That chest isn’t supposed to be here,” Robin stated.
Zoro countered, “So what? We were low on funds and now we’re not. Besides the Siren can make this back… eventually.”
“As much as I hate to agree with moss-head here, he has a point,” added Sanji. He was elated that your chest sat on the deck. That’s what he gets for showing off, thought the cook. “I know he’s your friend Robin, but he did say he was indebted to you so why not take this as his indirect way of paying you back.” Sanji smiled at Robin who instead glared at him.
“I’m with Robin here,” Franky said with a scowl, “this is messed up.”
“Even pirates should refrain from stealing from their friends,” yelled Jimbei from the wheel.
“Shanks would say that,” commented Luffy as he squinted towards the horizon.
“While a good point, friends also help out friends and we were in dire need of this money. I feel like the pirate hunter will understand,” assured Brook.
With the added support, Nami reached for Robin and continued, “yeah, so why don’t we just let this go, and the next time we run into your friend, Robin, we can—“
“NO!” Everyone flinched. “You guys don’t understand. If that chest doesn’t get back to its rightful owner soon, she'll die,” Robin said with guilt heavy in her chest. If you two hadn’t run into each other, you would still have your chest.
Usopp, now concerned, asked, “What do you mean she’ll die?” However, before Robin could respond, Chopper’s ears began to twitch.
Noticing the twitching, Zoro asked Chopper what’s wrong.
“Something’s coming,” responded Chopper. Everyone tensed.
“LOOK, A HUGE BIRD!” exclaimed Luffy as he pointed at a dark figure flying towards the ship.
“No way that’s a bird, it’s moving way too fast,” cried Ussop. As it grew closer, it became clear that the figure wasn’t buzzing. It was screeching.
Everyone looked at the chest and came to the same realization.

Author's Note: Chat, I have something to say: i don’t know how writers do it when they don’t include all of the characters who would be in a scene in the scene. Cause like could I have written this without including everyone, sure. But it just didn’t feel right cause how are you going to have a scene on the thousand sunny and not have everyone there. Probably have to work on this.

22/8/24 [1X DIY, new pics of boris — draft from yesterday, as was on a schedule - key + significant photos at end]
woke up at half 10 and said goodmorning to boris. i was concerned as he’s almost always outside, especially in the morning, but today he was on the kitchen table. my parents said that it was due to how cold it is outside, but every night he goes outside in the freezing cold, sometimes meaning i avoid going out there. he also didn’t seem to happy about being fussed. so i left him some time to himself and had a snack while scrolling through my scenemo/saw based tiktok feed.
then my dad sat next to me and i get paranoid over something depressing coming up on my for you page whenever i’m around people, so i watched mikey way edits until 11. this is when boris crawled up onto ‘my’ sofa, then onto the radiator, and onto the windowsill to my side. he sat right next to this wooden egyptian cat statue we have and the photo is SO cute. the timing was so great like he looks like a bigger version of the statue. [photo at end] he soon left to go out the front and i made a photodump groupchat. i like when people try and make conversations with me about my day/DIYS so i added my aunt, my parents, my sister, and all three of my cousins. my aunt tends to speak about what she gets up to a lot/takes a ton of photos so i thought it’d be good to add her. id also like if other people photodump about their days. itll probably only be a thing for a week because whenever i text in grouchats they die.
after adding everyone and sending the photo collages of yesterday, i went to find boris, hoping he’d be more up for a cuddle. however, i couldn’t find him anywhere. i searched for quite a while until i went outside and looked around where the bins usually are like my dad suggested. i called him around that area and he came out from under dad’s car. he immediately followed me back inside the house and then wanted to come back out again. im not sure how come, he likes sunny weather. my parents told me i needed to do something so i stayed inside. i also don’t really know what to do about the whole boris thing because i told him last night id be with him all day but i can’t if he’s under my dads car, and we’re going away tomorrow so i need to make the most of being around him.
i sat on the sofa while my dad filled out forms. once he’d done, i watched diving education videos from 11:30 to 12:20 as next week i’m going diving with sharks!!! the videos were super confusing and i have absolutely no idea what was being said but they’ll go over it on the day and im still super excited. thankfully the crew are letting me wear a shirt over my wetsuit so nobody sees my figure so i won’t have to worry over that. i cant wait to be surrounded by marine life i love sharks so much AAAAA. i’m also really excited to write about the day/see the photos taken of me + my dad inside the tank. last year i did something similar where i had half of my body in with smaller sharks which is how we found out about this shark experience.
i went back into my room after watching 2/3 of the videos explaining hand signals/how to clear your ears/rules etc. i scrolled on emotok until 12:40 until i got dressed. i only got dressed so i could be outside with boris so i put on my never before worn linkin park shirt and very oversized black jeans. plus a checkered black + white studded belt, skeleton gloves, converse, and my jacket. i didn’t bother wearing any bracelets because that would be pointless. while getting ready, i listened to my korn ‘life is peachy’ cd. i only got through three songs before i went out to my garden at 1:17. i thought i might aswell at least practice getting on my skateboard so i did. id seen people throw down irl before [you know, when people go from holding their board to running, throwing it down, and jumping on.] so i had an idea of how to do that. i was able to do it really quickly, but to be fair, i watch skaters a lot and it’s the first thing you learn so it’s super easy to pick up. so to any skaters reading this, this sounds stupid i know. [photo at end, it’s awkward because i’m just about to get on]
anyway, im actually kind of scared to start skating properly. there are so many things considered poser behaviour that i would’ve thought are just default things you do. like what foot you push yourself with. i’m scared that if i get decent and go out, people will look down on me because i don’t balance on my board with my non dominant leg. i just don’t get it. i practiced for 20 minutes at then went round to the front of the house to be with boris. inconveniently, it started raining the second he came out from under my mum’s car. i sat right in the doorway so i could be out with boris and not ruin my phone and headphones with the rain, but he took it as an opportunity/signal to come inside. i gave him something to eat and then he went back outside again. i waited in my room for my sister to come down so i could show her me ‘skating.’
when she finally came down, boris decided to come round the back where i was skating. i was worried that i’d scare him but my sister said to do it quickly. i did end up scaring him and he ran up the stairs leading to the grass. i left him to calm down for 2ish minutes and then gave him two treats back round the front. he was fine with approaching me and wasn’t scared at all which is good. when something scary happens and its associated with a particular person, because of his half blindness - he gets wary over being around them. but i’m glad he felt content again so quickly. i was going to sit at the doorway again, but when i came back outside with my jacket, he was under my dads car. which means i have no way of being out there with him, with him knowing. and i want him to know i’m accompanying him.
so i went back inside, wrote a bit of this journal [while listening to chomp chomp attack! and senses fail. while i was skating i listened to two chiodos songs.], and then started packing for tomorrow. i’ve already been over this, but i feel like it’s easy to make assumptions if i don’t explain again. i’m not going abroad, im going to a holiday campus me and my immediate family go to every few years. we’re attending with me and my extended family and we’re staying for a week. i’m pretty sure the rest are leaving after a couple/3 days.
then at 2:40, i started to clean my room a bit. basically, i have one of those makeup case things, you know, the stacked up storage boxes with wheels? and it’s currently got barely anything in it and is just taking up space. so i decided to take every singular box off and fill each one with stuff that i want, but not in my room. as i also don’t want the case in my room. box one has old journals inside, box two is full with fidget toys and printed photos that aren’t meant for my wall, box three is also the home to more non wall suitable photos, and the bottom compartment just has random stuff shoved inside.
a lot of the photos in the boxes were originally found dotted around inside it, but i decided to organise them with my band photos and put them in this photo storage thing that has separate sheet slips where you can slide photos in. they’re supposed to be used for only one photo each side of the sheet, but i put most of the photos of each musician both sides instead. [photo at end, im conscious this makes no sense but i cant find the name of the photo storage box.] i finished at 3:20 because my parents came in and started shouting at me for cleaning my room.
i tried to explain i was only doing it the day before going away because i wanted to come back to things more organised than usual/it was previously cleaned a little by my mum and if i clean the whole room then my brain will avoid anything that could make it messy again. but they didn’t understand. i cried for ages because then they went on a rant about every other thing i’ve done in my life and they wouldn’t stop shaming me. i couldn’t process why in the moment because i’ve been being begged to clean my room properly since i moved into it [three years ago].
i got motivation to carry on 20 minutes later, put the storage case back together, and then started getting out everything from my bedside drawers. my top drawer has been all arts and crafts [my kandi beads, elastic, paint pens, paint, journals, scrap material, etc] since i last organised it. i put that onto my bed and started going through the other drawers. my second has a rectangular box full of random things i’ve collected over the years/and like and that was it. so i decided to switch things up. i took the box out and filled the drawer with stuff i use a lot. like paint pens, my collage journal, scraps for my journal, scissors, stuff to stick up photos with, pens, etc. [photo at end]
i then put that drawer ontop of all the others so it’s easily accessible from my bed. following on from that, i took the third drawer, put my random stuff box inside it, along with my old journals that i do want in my room. after putting that and the second drawer in [it’s now ordered in: collage drawer, arts and crafts drawer, random + journal drawer, and the drawer i’m just about to start filling up.] i put the photo storage box, bits of card, and things i’ve been collecting to go onto my wall into it. [painted cds, bigger posters, etc.] this took 40-50 minutes.
i went out to the kitchen to see boris at 5:30 and looked through some hair jordan + joe trohman tiktoks/pinterest posts. i did this until 6:20 and scrolled through bam margera/jackass edits until 7:20 when i had a nap. i had no intention of spending that long in my room, i told boris i’d be back out after 30 minutes once i’d napped. so when i woke up at 8, i felt really bad. so i went out with boris from 8-9:40 when my phone ran out. to be honest he was sleeping and didn’t really want to be stroked, but i still feel guilty for not accompanying him when i realised: oh wait, im supposed to be asleep. while i was with him, i did that thing where you organise your favourite album [covers] in the colour of the rainbow. [photo at end].
i wrote 6 paragraphs of this journal and then started two new can tab bracelets. the only difference with these two from the other i made last thursday, is the shape. its super annoying because i have only two-three more tabs to add until it can fit around my wrist — but as it’s made up of three different shapes, i’ve conveniently ran out of pepsi tabs when thats the type i need to add on each side to close it off. anyway, i cant wait until i can finish it. it looks funky with each tab being from a different can. [photo at end]
i went back into the kitchen to see boris but was only able to be with him for 5 minutes as i had to ask my parents questions about him. i started at 11 and ended 8 minutes before 12. we didn’t argue, but i was being rushed as tomorrow is super busy. i told boris what i could remember from yesterday and apologised again for scaring him while skating/going away tomorrow. i’m going to go into more detail/show him the pictures from yesterday in the morning as he sometimes gets scared by being shown screens in the dark. i finished at 12:50 and went to sleep at 1:50.
🗝️ — boris/my cat, questions about boris/i ask my parents questions about my cat to verify he's okay + will be okay in the morning. its a compulsive thing and i'm hopefully going to be tested for OCD in the future.
have a good day/night O_o

A/N: Danny and Sunshine are back in the house!! This chapter's kinda long, but I think it's really cute and emotional - I hope you enjoy all the twists and turns! ♡
You woke in a tangle of sheets to a pounding headache.
It took you a minute to get your bearings; the sun was shining through the breezy curtains, bright and pretty but also kind of painful. You were still in your dress, but your jewelry had been taken off; a cautious touch to your face revealed that your makeup had been cleaned off too.
You turned your face away from the sunlight and found Danny close, his expression relaxed in sleep, his curls mussed and soft.
“Danny,” you said softly.
He gave a sleepy hum. “Wassa matter, sunny?” The hand that was resting on your hip pulled you closer, and it made you realize that your leg was hooked over his thigh.
You felt yourself blush at how close you were to him, how warm and steady he was beside you. You didn’t dare move, afraid to wake him and make him realize for fear he would pull away, afraid to pull away yourself if he wanted you close.
His eyes fluttered open when you didn’t answer. “You okay?”
His voice was gravelly and warm, and you hid your face against his chest to keep him from seeing how flustered it made you.
He chuckled. “What’s wrong, sunshine? You don’t feel good?”
You shook your head. “Headache.” Your stomach also felt like a butterfly rave, but that might have been more from the way he still hadn’t pulled away from you than from your hangover.
He hummed in agreement. “Me too. Maybe we should take it easy at the wedding tonight.”
“Oh!” You’d completely forgotten about your flight back home and the wedding only a few hours after you landed. “What time is it?”
He groaned a little as he turned to grab his phone from the nightstand. “Early, still. I set an alarm so we wouldn’t be late to the airport, and it hasn’t gone off yet.”
You relaxed then, thankful he’d seemingly taken care of everything when you’d been out of commission last night. He turned back to you again, making to pull you close; you wanted to rest against him and get a little bit more sleep, but your headache wouldn’t leave you be, and you were restless.
Danny noticed. “Let me get you some tylenol,” he offered, untangling himself from you and the sheets as gently as possible. “Be right back.”
He came back from the bathroom with his water bottle and some medicine. “Sit up, honey.”
You did, letting yourself enjoy the pet name, and took the medicine before handing him his water bottle so he could take a dose too. He tied his hair up in a messy bun, his faded band tee riding up over the hem of his shorts, and you blushed as you looked away.
“Here,” he said, handing you his water bottle back. “You gotta hydrate.”
You did as he said, pulling a little at the sleeves of your dress that were rubbing uncomfortably over your shoulders. You must have gotten more sun yesterday than you thought.
He gave you a sympathetic wince. “Yeah, I didn’t know if I should get you into pajamas last night, so I erred on the side of caution. I’m sorry you’re uncomfortable.”
He rummaged in his bag until he pulled out one of his huge, soft t-shirts. “Try this. It’ll be loose enough on you that it won’t bother your sunburn, hopefully.”
“Thank you,” you said, catching it when he tossed it to you. You gave him a teasing smile. “Are you sure you trust me with more of your clothes? I still haven’t returned your jacket from the funeral, remember?”
He smiled. “It’s all a part of my master plan,” he said. “The more clothes you steal, the more reasons I’ll have to see you after this wedding tonight.”
You felt a mix of emotions at that. You were thrilled that he wanted to keep seeing you, but you were also reminded that the wedding tonight was the last concrete plan you had to see each other. After tonight, what would realistically be enough to keep him from jetting back off to his fancy rockstar life without you?
You decided to set that thought aside for later, determined to enjoy what could very well be the last of your time with Danny.
“It’s a good plan,” you agreed. “I just think you better count on not getting any of these clothes back.”
He laughed. “I’m not that worried about it, sunny. I think it’s a fair trade, don’t you?”
A car ride, a plane ride, and another car ride later, you were standing blearily in front of the mirror in your bedroom, freshly showered, wondering how on earth you were going to make yourself presentable in less than two hours. This next wedding was sure to be filled with Danny’s swanky, rich, fashionable friends, and at the moment, you looked like you’d been run over by a truck.
Your phone buzzed with a text from Danny.
Text me what you want from Starbucks, the message read. I’ll be over around 6 to pick you up.
You smiled to yourself. You’d fallen back asleep on the plane, and he’d been very patient with you as he handled your bags, his bags, and your still very sleepy state in the airport after you landed. You sent him a message back and tossed your phone on the bed, gearing yourself up for a deep-dive into your closet for something to wear.
—
“That’s it! I’m not going.”
Danny frowned as you came out of your bathroom, looking you over head to toe with a thoughtful gaze.
“Why not?” he asked. “That’s a cute outfit.”
You cringed. “It’s not cute, Danny. It’s possibly the worst wardrobe choice I’ve ever made in my life.”
He smiled. “Dramatic, much?”
You huffed and went back into the bathroom to try on the next outfit, starting to get a little panicked about time and trying to prevent a major meltdown over getting ready. Since he’d gotten to your apartment, Danny had been patiently sitting on the edge of your bed; he hadn’t breathed a word of complaint as you tried on practically your entire closet in an effort to find something to wear, and he hadn’t even felt the need to remind you that both of you were going to be late if you didn’t hurry. He had also given you sweet, heartfelt compliments on every outfit right before you decided you hated it, and then he’d hung every discarded article of clothing neatly back in your closet. You almost didn’t know how to interact with a man who did things like that.
You decided not to read too much into it, though, not least because you were overwhelmed with the simple task of finding something halfway decent to wear. You slipped on the last dress you had, hoping you wouldn’t instantly hate it as soon as you looked in the mirror; it was a gauzy, fluffy thing in shades of pink and champagne, and you were surprised at how pretty you felt when you looked in the mirror.
Danny’s eyes widened when you came out to show him.
“Woah,” he said, looking a little like he’d taken a blow to the head. “That’s... uh, you look really pretty in that, sunny.”
You blushed and gave him a bashful smile. “This is the one, then?”
He nodded, still kind of dazed and dreamy. “Please don’t change out of that one.”
You laughed, amused and pleased at his request. “Okay.”
He came into the bathroom with you as you put the finishing touches on your look, watching you in the mirror for a minute as you put on dangly gold earrings and a shimmery lip gloss.
“Should I wear a different necklace?” he asked, brushing his fingers across the strings of pearls that rested over his black turtleneck. “I don’t match you with these.”
“No, keep them,” you said, a little embarrassed at how quickly you’d said it. There was something about a man as tall and broad as Danny was wearing something so pretty. “I... I like them. Keep them.”
He smiled. “Okay. I’ll keep them.”
You both spent a few more moments getting ready, adding glamorous touches to the soft beachy glow you both had from the wedding yesterday. You noticed that he looked at his watch, but he still didn’t hurry you along, and you were grateful for his patience.
“Okay,” you said briskly, taking one last look in the mirror. “Good?”
He smiled. “Good.”
He ushered you out to his car and opened the door for you, making sure all the fluffy tulle from your dress was safely out of the way before he closed it.
“Music?” he asked as he got in, handing you his phone. “The code’s 5480.”
“Oh,” you said, a little surprised that he’d just handed it over. “Uh, sure. What do you want to listen to?”
He put his hand on your headrest as he backed out of your driveway. “You pick.”
You tried to think of what to put on, a little distracted by the heady scent of his warm and woodsy cologne. You looked over at him for approval when you put on “The Boy with a Moon and Star on His Head,” and you were pleased when he smiled.
“I wonder what our stick figure couple is getting up to these days,” he said, as if you hadn’t just made them start a band last night.
“I guess we’ll have to see what this wedding brings,” you said. You were about to set his phone aside when a text popped up on the screen from someone named Emma, and you couldn’t help but skim it.
Can’t wait to see you tomorrow! it read, complete with a kissy face on the end.
You sucked in a breath. You felt bad for having read it, but all of a sudden, it felt like somebody had your heart in a vise grip. You locked his phone and set it in the cup holder, willing yourself to forget you’d even seen it.
Neither of you talked much on the drive to the wedding; Danny hummed along to the Cat Stevens playlist, and you looked out the window and tried not to think about Emma who couldn’t wait to see him tomorrow. You shouldn’t even know about it, let alone catastrophize because of it; it wasn’t your business who he texted or who texted him, kissy faces or not. He’d made no commitment to you or even hinted at making one. Danny was free to see anyone, anytime, for any reason. You had absolutely no right to be upset about it.
That didn’t stop it from hurting, though. You glanced over at him, watched him drum on the steering wheel in perfect time with the song. He looked over at you and smiled, and for a moment, you forgot how to breathe.
“How’s it going, sunny?” he asked. “Feeling down to clown tonight?”
You couldn’t help but smile. “You know me. I’m always ready to party.”
With a monumental effort, you pushed the thought of the text aside and promised yourself you’d have one last night of good memories with Danny. You felt a little nervous, though, as he pulled into the venue’s parking lot; you fidgeted with your sun necklace, the one you’d yet to take off since Danny had given it to you, and looked wide-eyed at the people milling around outside the place. It must have cost a pretty penny to rent it out, and you weren’t surprised by the lavish display of wealth in the guests that stood outside. All of a sudden, you felt just how “small-town” you were compared to everyone else there, including Danny.
He pulled into one of the last spots and turned the car off, sitting with you for a moment.
“Don’t be nervous,” he said.
You weren’t surprised that he’d noticed. You tried to stop fidgeting with your necklace and smoothed your hands over your skirt instead.
“Sure,” you said. “I’ll just waltz in there with all your fancy friends and feel totally cool and confident.”
He smiled. “You should,” he said easily. “You look beautiful, you’re smarter than anybody in there, and you’ve got me.”
You breathed a laugh. His presence would help more than he knew, and you planned to stick by him the entire time.
He offered his hand, and you smacked your palm against his.
“We got this,” he said.
You squeezed his hand. “We got this.”
He only let go of your hand long enough for both of you to get out of the car, and then you looped your arm around his and pressed close to his side.
“Please don’t try to introduce me to anybody,” you said.
Danny smiled as he looked over at you, amused and sympathetic as you tightened your grip on his arm.
“I only have two people I want to introduce you to,” he said. Before you could protest, he added, “I promise you’ll like them.”
You could tell it meant a lot to him that you at least spoke to these friends, and though you dreaded the thought of small talk with complete strangers, you would do it for Danny.
“But only those two, right?” you asked.
“Right,” he agreed. He gave you a teasing smile then. “Let me know if you change your mind, though. There’s plenty of people here to awkwardly introduce yourself to. Just say the word and I’ll make it happen.”
You hid your face against his shoulder. “No way. That sounds so horrible.”
He chuckled. “Don’t worry, sunny. I wouldn’t be so cruel to you.” He patted your hand where it rested in the crook of his arm. “Besides, I barely know anybody here myself.”
You looked up at him as you came inside the venue, content to let him find your spots for the ceremony.
“What are you talking about?” you said. “I thought this was one of your good friends who was getting married.”
He shrugged, a little distracted as he looked around the venue but still paying attention to you.
“He is, but I don’t really know any of his other friends.” He took a tastefully sleek program from one of the ushers. “He and his wife — well, almost wife — hang out with really artsy, fashionable people. I always feel kind of clumsy and awkward around them.”
You smiled. You could see how Danny might feel like a bull in a china shop sometimes, but you thought it was endearing.
“You don’t think you’re artsy and fashionable?” you asked.
Danny huffed a laugh. “No.” He caught sight of someone on the opposite end of the room and waved, a handsome smile lighting his face.
“I’ll show you somebody who definitely thinks he is, though,” he said. “And you’ll have to decide if his style is as goofy as I think it is.”
You bucked up your courage as Danny led you through the crowd, trying to guess which of these swanky wedding guests he was going to subject you to meeting. Maybe it was the guy in the bejeweled sweater vest, or the lady with the obscenely high heels. Maybe it was —
“Oh, shut up.”
Danny looked over at you. “What?”
You smacked a hand against his chest.
“Ow!” he laughed. “What was that for?”
“Hello!” you said, gesturing to the guy in a flowy red suit and sunglasses. “ That’s the friend you’re introducing me to? Freakin’... Sam Kiszka?”
Danny grinned. “I thought you said you weren’t a Greta Van Fleet fangirl.”
“They’re called gresties, Daniel,” you informed him, intentionally not telling him that you’d started to talk to other fans on Tumblr since the funeral. “I’m surprised you didn’t know that.”
“Gresties?” he repeated. “Like... what? Greta Van Fleet besties?”
“Exactly.”
He laughed out loud. “Hey, that’s pretty good. Gresties. I like that.” He took your hand. “Let’s go tell Sam about the gresties. He’ll love to hear that.”
You hesitated, still a little nervous. Sam was watching the two of you with interest, leaning to talk to the pretty girl who stood with him, undoubtedly talking about you.
“Hey, sunny.”
You tore your gaze from Sam, looking up at Danny as he squeezed your hand. “Yes?”
He gave you a sweet smile.
“Don’t be nervous,” he reminded you. “It’s just Sam. He’s not as cool as you think he is.”
You managed a hesitant smile back. “That’s easy for you to say. You know him.”
“I want you to know him too,” Danny said sincerely. “Trust me. He’s gonna love you.”
You took a deep breath. “I must like you or something,” you muttered.
Danny grinned. “I like you too, sunny, so I guess that works out nicely.”
He held your hand as you went to meet Sam, and you tried not to let your nerves get the better of you. It made you feel better to see that the girl by Sam’s side looked a little shy too, and the two of you exchanged nervous and excited smiles even as you both sort of hid behind your guys.
Danny put a comforting hand to your back. “Sam, birdie — this is sunny.”
Sam pushed his sunglasses up into his hair and gave you a charmingly boyish grin.
“Nice to meet you, sunny,” he said. “I know we probably met a few times in middle school, but that doesn’t really count.”
You gave him a bashful smile back, still a little starstruck that you were meeting Sam Kiszka.
“Well, it’s good to meet you in a way that counts,” you said, and you earned a smile. “I know this is kind of lame to say, but... I’m a big fan of your music.”
“Not lame at all,” he assured you seriously. “I love to have my ego boosted.”
You laughed, and Sam’s girlfriend rolled her eyes, fondly exasperated and drawing confidence from her boyfriend’s humor.
“He’s not kidding,” she said, affection in her voice. She gave you a smile. “It’s wonderful to meet you, sunny. I’m birdie. And I promise I’m absolutely normal.”
You laughed. “Sweet. I love normal people.”
Sam looked at her with an amused gaze. “What do you mean, you’re absolutely normal? As if I’m not?”
“You are a famous rock star,” she reminded him. “I’m still a small town girl, so I’m less intimidating. I hope.”
“It does make you less intimidating,” you admitted. “I love your dress, by the way.”
She touched a hand to the shimmery rust-colored cocktail dress she wore.
“Oh, thank you! I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, so this is the trial run.” She put her hand on her hip and posed next to Sam, even though he was talking with Danny.
“You don’t think we clash, do you?” she asked you.
Sam noticed she was posing and immediately posed too, obviously a natural ham. “Where’s the photographer, sweetheart?”
“I’m letting sunny judge our outfits,” she said. “Danny too.”
Danny tilted his head, seeming to take the task seriously. “Looks good. What’s wrong with them?”
“Well, we’re in the same color family,” she said. “I couldn’t decide if it was a good move or a fashion nightmare. What do you think, sunny?”
You smiled and shook your head. “No, I think you look great together.” Side by side, their reds, rusts, and golds gave a warm and inviting aura of a confident, lovely couple, one you wanted to get to know better.
“See?” Sam said. “You worry too much, birdie. You know you’re pretty enough for both of us, no matter what we wear.”
She gave him a slightly bashful smile, pleased with his compliment. “Thanks, honey.”
He gave her cheek a big, goofy kiss, and she giggled and pushed him away. Your chest felt a little tight at the display, endeared at their affection for each other and wishing you had someone to share such tenderness with.
Danny took your hand again, and your breath caught a little.
“Come on, lovebirds,” Danny teased his friends. “Let’s go find our spots.”
You got settled in one of the middle rows, and Danny and Sam fell into conversation almost immediately. You enjoyed listening to them talk and laugh together; their friendship seemed so natural and close-knit, and Birdie was obviously a good friend of Danny’s too.
They tried to include you in their conversation, and you were thankful for their kindness, but you were too distracted to really engage with them.
“Oh, sunny!”
You looked over at Danny, wondering what could have gotten him so excited. You smiled just because he was.
“What?” you asked.
“I totally forgot I brought you a present,” he said, reaching into the inside pocket of his blazer. “I didn’t know if it would go with what you were wearing, but I figured you might want to try it.”
He pulled out a beautiful pearl ring, one that matched the string of pearls he wore. He held it in his palm and offered it to you, and for a moment, you couldn’t think of anything to say.
“You don’t have to wear it if you don’t want to,” he said, his voice unsure, his fingers closing reflexively over it. “I just thought you might — ”
“No, I do,” you said quickly, reaching out to take it from him. Your throat felt tight when you took the ring from his big, warm palm and his fingers traced over yours.
“It’s beautiful,” you said softly. “I was just surprised.”
“Why?” he said, and you could hear the smile in his voice. “Pretty things should be worn by pretty girls.”
You bit the inside of your cheek and tried not to cry. It was so stupid — it was just a little gift, a bit of jewelry he’d let you wear. It didn’t mean anything. You wondered almost absently if he’d ever given jewelry to Emma, the girl who’d texted him in the car.
“I think it should fit you,” he said. “It’s a little small for my big strong drummer hands.”
You managed a wobbly smile as you put it on the middle finger of your left hand. One more finger over, and...
You held your hand up for Danny to see. “How does it look?”
He smiled and took your hand in his, brushing his thumb over the surface of the pearl.
“Beautiful,” he said. “Just like you, sunny.”
You looked over at him. “And now we match,” you said, trying for lightheartedness when all you felt like doing was crying or kissing him.
He grinned. “As we should.”
You couldn’t tear your gaze away from him. He was beautiful in the orange and gold light of sunset coming through the high windows, all warm and sweet and genuine as he smiled at you. All of a sudden, the uncertainty and the longing and the awful fear caught up to you — Danny was going home tomorrow, and despite his reassurances that he wanted to see you again, you knew you’d be left with nothing but a ring on the wrong finger and the pieces of your heart in your hands.
His brow knit with worry as he looked at you, and you knew you weren’t hiding your feelings as well as you wanted to.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
You didn’t know what you should say, or if you should even say anything at all. “Danny, I — ”
Music started to play, cutting off your quiet plea and drawing everyone’s attention to the back of the hall. You and Danny stood with everyone else, but he didn’t take his eyes off of you.
You shook your head, trying to tell him it was fine, that he didn’t need to worry.
He looked like he wanted to argue, but he didn’t say anything; after a moment, he held out his hand, wanting to comfort you without even knowing what was wrong.
You felt the sting of tears and blinked them back. You took his hand and let yourself be comforted by his touch, even though you knew it would be better to get used to being without him.
He held your hand through the ceremony, and you watched his face with an ache of loneliness as his friends exchanged their vows. Even though you knew how unreasonable it was to care for him so deeply after only a few days, you couldn’t deny what you felt; you’d love him forever, together or not, and the pain of losing him had already started while he was still holding your hand.
You barely registered the end of the wedding. You thought you heard Danny tell Sam and Birdie that you’d catch up to them at the reception, and then Danny put his hand to your cheek.
“Hey,” he said gently. His eyes were impossibly kind as he studied your face.
“Hey, yourself,” you said.
He brushed his thumb over your cheek. “What’s wrong, sunny? Do you feel okay? You want to go home?”
You shook your head. “I feel fine. I want to stay.”
“Are you sure? We don’t have to. Maybe you’re ready for a break.”
“A break?” you said bleakly. A break from what? It wouldn’t be a break; it would be the end, and you wouldn’t hurry it along any faster than it was already coming.
You looked up at him and managed a smile.
“I’m okay, Danny, really.” You put your hand over his. “Let’s go drink and dance and have a grand old time.”
He looked a little doubtful, but he didn’t press. He took your hand as you walked together to the reception in the next wing of the venue.
“But you let me know if you want to leave, okay?” he said. “You promise?”
You nodded, knowing you wouldn’t. “I promise.”
The reception was slated to go all night, and for all of their classiness, the guests certainly knew how to party. You lost yourself a little bit in the booze and the dancing, sticking with Danny and Sam and Birdie as you moved from the bar to the dance floor and back again.
“Hey!” Birdie said, tugging on Sam’s hand. “There’s no line for the photo booth if we go right this very second.”
He followed her happily, and you and Danny went too. You let Sam and Birdie go first, grinning to each other at the sounds of bubbly laughter from behind the curtain, and weren’t surprised when Sam stepped out with his face covered in lipstick kisses.
Danny laughed. “You look like you’re in a cartoon, Sam.”
Sam beamed as he got their pictures, happy as could be when his girl took his hand and to lead him onto the dance floor again. “Some cartoon, huh!”
Danny held the curtain back for you. “Shall we?”
The two of you tried to squish together in the little booth, both of you laughing and tipsy and flushed. One of you must have accidentally pushed the button, because you heard it counting down to your first picture.
“Hurry!” you said, both of you laughing breathlessly as you tried to get into place before the shutter sound. You tripped over Danny’s feet and grabbed onto his shoulder to keep from careening out of the booth; to the same end, he took you by the waist and plunked you down on his lap.
“Settle down now,” he said, trying to be stern but unable to keep up the act as you started to giggle. He smiled up at you, laugh lines crinkling at the corners of his eyes, flashing those little fangs you loved so much; he looked at you like you’d hung the moon, and as you cradled his face in your hands, you felt the fragile part of your heart finally crack in two.
“What is it?” he asked gently.
I’m dying of love for you, Danny. “Nothing.”
You moved your hands and leaned your head against his. “Let’s get one picture where we’re actually looking at the camera.”
He squeezed you tight as the last photo counted down. “Big smile!”
When you got your strip of photos, you almost couldn’t bear to look at them. The joy you felt at being with him was captured there in black and white — a blurry picture of your laughing attempts to fit in the booth, the surprise on your face and the grin on his when he’d put you on his lap, the tenderness in your expression when you’d touched his face, both of your big smiles when you pressed as close as you could get to each other. You swallowed past the tightness in your throat and handed the strip to Danny.
“You don’t want them?” he asked.
“No, I — ” You cleared your throat. “Um, I don’t have anywhere to keep them. Will you hold on to them for me?”
“Oh. Sure.” He tucked them in the inside pocket of his jacket. “Where to next, sunshine?”
“The bar,” you said. You needed another drink. You needed a whole bottle.
He followed you without complaint, and when you got another round of drinks, you hardly tasted yours. You felt caught somewhere between giddiness and a terrible urge to cry, hysterical and drunk and just barely able to keep from telling Danny Wagner in front of god and everybody that you were in love with him.
“We should dance,” you said, needing an outlet for the jittery, anxious pressure building in your chest.
Danny didn’t move from where he’d leaned up against the counter, watching you with an amused smile.
“Where do you get all this energy from, sunny?” he asked.
You took another sip of your drink, feeling so keyed-up you thought you might go crazy. Didn’t he feel anything between you? You thought you would suffocate if you didn’t get out from under the weight of how much you wanted him.
Your hands fluttering nervously like the wings of a bird, you reached for him.
“Come on,” you said, and the words had barely gotten out of your mouth before somebody knocked into you from behind, sending you straight into Danny’s arms.
“Woah, hold on,” he said, hurrying to catch you even as your drink sloshed over the sleeve of his jacket and the front of your dress.
You heard a heartfelt apology from behind you, and then Danny’s assurance that you were both fine.
“Right?” he asked you, still holding your arms to make sure you were steady. “You’re good, sunny?”
You couldn’t answer, suddenly overcome with tears, trying in vain to clean his sleeve off even though it was soaked.
“Sunny?” he said again, a little worried this time. He ducked his head to see your face. “Are you hurt?”
“No,” you said miserably, “but your jacket — I’m sorry, Danny.”
He glanced over at the sleeve you were trying to fix as if he’d only just noticed it. “My jacket?” he said. “Sunny, I’m not worried about my jacket. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” you lied. You didn’t know why this had been the final straw, but all of a sudden you were overwhelmed with everything, exhausted and completely overcome.
“I’m s-sorry I spilled my stupid drink on you, Danny,” you all but sobbed. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
“Hey, hey.” He took your now-empty glass from you and set it on the bar, then framed your face with his big hands and made you look at him. He was searching your face with such worry, and your expression crumpled like a little girl’s.
“Sunshine,” he said, at a loss, unsure why this had upset you so badly. “Please don’t cry, honey. It’s really not a big deal. I’m not mad at you.”
“You’re not?”
He looked so bewildered you felt a slash of pity for him. “Of course I’m not. It was an accident, and it wasn’t even your fault.” He drew back just enough to look you over. “Oh, and you got the worst of it, too. You’re soaked, honey.”
You hadn’t even noticed. You looked down at the front of your pretty dress and saw it was dark and splotchy.
“Now, you don’t have to cry about that either,” Danny said quickly, a little panicked as he tried to avert another crisis. “I don’t think it’ll stain, but we’ll rinse it out just to make sure. Come on.”
You looked up at him, trying to catch your breath and stop crying. “Where are we going?”
He didn’t answer for a moment, looking around for something at the bar; he grabbed a few napkins and did his best to wipe the tears from your face.
“I gotta start wearing a pocket square,” he said under his breath, gently blotting the napkins against your cheeks.
You couldn’t help the watery laugh that escaped you. “Why, so you can get my mascara all over it?”
He gave you a gentle smile. “No, so I can have something soft for you when you cry.”
That almost started you crying again, but you managed to stop after only a few tears had streaked down your cheeks.
“Okay, sunshine,” he said tenderly. “Let’s go up to my room so we can get you cleaned up.”
“You’re staying here?” you asked. You didn’t know the venue had a hotel too, but you were glad you didn’t have to travel anywhere in your wet dress.
He hummed in agreement and took your hand. “Come on, sunny.”
You followed his lead, content to let him find a path through the carousing guests; you didn’t meet Sam and Birdie on the way, but you saw that Danny sent them a text to let them know you were headed upstairs.
It was much quieter when you got out of the reception hall, and you were thankful for it even though your ears were still ringing with the music. You leaned against Danny in the elevator, holding tight to his hand; you still felt fragile, like you were liable to shatter to pieces at any moment. Danny gave your hand a reassuring squeeze every once in a while as you made your way to his room.
Inside, Danny left you for a moment to turn on the bathroom light.
“Is that too much?” he asked when he came back to your side. “I think I’m a little overstimulated. I figured you’re probably feeling that way too.”
You nodded, sure he was right. “That light’s fine,” you said meekly. “Thank you.”
He hovered for a moment, seemingly unsure what to do to help.
“Let me get you something to change into,” he said, going to search through his luggage. “Yeah. That seems like the smart thing to do.”
You watched him with an incredible ache of tenderness, not sure why any man would care for you so selflessly, not sure anything in the world could keep from tying your heart to his for as long as you lived.
“Here,” he said, handing you a stack of neatly folded clothes. “I don’t think I have any bottoms that would fit you, but...”
“I have biker shorts under my dress,” you said.
“Oh,” he said. He looked less sure of himself than he ever had. “Well, good. You can pick whatever you want out of that to wear, and if you want something else, just let me know.”
“Thank you.” You hesitated before you turned to head for the bathroom. “Um, Danny?”
“Yeah?”
You felt shy to ask, for some reason. “Could you unzip my dress? I can’t, um...”
“Of course,” he said, and you felt that his hands were shaking when he brushed your hair over your shoulder and pulled the zipper down.
“Thank you,” you said again. You turned to face him; for a moment, in the quiet darkness of his room, there was nothing in the world but you two and the few inches of space between.
You shook yourself. If you’d stood there a moment longer, you’d have done something that couldn’t be taken back, and you couldn’t decide if it was wise or incredibly foolish to have let the moment pass.
“Right,” you said, flustered, raw with emotion. “Um, thanks. Again.”
You fled into the relative safety of the bathroom, kicking yourself for being so awkward, so girlish, so in love with him it made you act like an idiot. You caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror; you were a wreck, makeup smudged and tear-streaked, dress soaked and bedraggled. You winced.
When you’d rinsed your dress in the sink and hung it over the shower curtain, you washed your face and dressed in Danny’s clothes. He’d given you a t-shirt and a soft fair isle sweater and a pair of black socks way too big for you. You wore them anyway, the heel part coming to the bottom of your calf, and felt much more relaxed in his comfortable clothes that smelled like him.
He was sitting on the edge of the bed when you came out, his jacket discarded over the back of a chair but otherwise still dressed in his wedding outfit. He looked as tense as you’d felt downstairs, and you wondered what was bothering him.
His phone lit up with a text where he’d set it on the bed. He quickly turned it off.
Oh. You felt kind of numb to it now. Maybe it was Emma again, or maybe it was some other girl who couldn’t wait to see him when he was done having to take care of you.
He gave you a weak smile. “Feel better?”
You nodded and scrubbed your face with the too-long sleeves of his sweater, tired and starting to sober up. “A little. Do you have a hair tie?”
He took one off his wrist. “Come here.”
You did, not entirely sure why, standing between his knees like you’d be able to handle it. He gathered your hair with gentle brushes of his fingers, but he couldn’t get the angle he wanted; he stood and towered over you again, and for all your numbness, you could no more keep from hugging him than you could keep the stars from shining.
He breathed a laugh. “You okay?”
You nodded against him, hugging him tighter. You felt tears start again and valiantly managed to keep them from falling.
“Thank you for taking care of me,” you said.
He finished putting your hair up and hugged you to him, running a soothing hand over your back. “You’re welcome, sunny. It’s my pleasure.”
As much as you wanted to stay close and let him comfort you, you made yourself pull back from him. You took a deep, shaky breath; it was time to rip the band-aid off, and you promised yourself you wouldn’t cry.
“If you’ll take me home,” you said, “I’ll change out of these clothes and get the other things I borrowed. That way you don’t have to make another trip tomorrow.”
He blinked. “Uh... I mean, of course I’ll take you home if you’re ready to leave. But I don’t mind coming by tomorrow. My flight’s not until later.”
You shook your head, wishing he wouldn’t drag it out any longer. “That’s okay. It’ll save you the trouble.”
His phone buzzed again, but he ignored it.
“It’s no trouble,” he insisted. “I thought we... I don’t know, that we might go for that coffee date we keep talking about.”
You’d forgotten about that. You’d been too busy daydreaming about your fiftieth coffee date to remember that you hadn’t even had one.
“Danny, I...” Your throat felt tight again, close to crying. You didn’t want him to think he owed you some consolation prize; he could just go, and these last few days would be nothing but a fond memory. “We don’t have to.... You don’t have to...”
His hopeful expression shuttered into one of resignation and something like hurt.
“You don’t want to,” he said, and it was a statement, not a question.
You couldn’t think of how to tell him that going on a stupid coffee date with him was the most important thing in the world to you, that it meant so much more to you than just one date. His phone lit up with a text, again, and the tangle of hurt and fear and longing in your chest finally burst apart.
“Why don’t you answer her?” you asked, gesturing to his phone. “She’s obviously trying to get in touch with you.”
He frowned. “Who?” He looked behind him to where you’d gestured and saw only his phone.
“Is it Emma?” you asked, knowing it was bitter and petty to bring it up, but you were unable or unwilling to bite your tongue any longer. “Or is it some other girl waiting for you as soon as you finally get rid of me?”
He looked at you with utter bewilderment and a hint of frustration. “What are you talking about?” he asked. “There’s not any other girls, and I’m not trying to get rid of you.”
Another text. You felt lightheaded.
“That’s what I’m talking about!” you snapped. “She’s ringing your phone off the hook, Danny. She has been since she told you she ‘can’t wait to see you tomorrow’.”
He didn’t say anything, and there was a storm of emotion in his expression that you couldn’t quite make out. Anger, confusion, anxiety, embarrassment — you were surprised to see each one in the flash of his dark eyes and the tight set of his jaw.
He picked up his phone and handed it to you. “Read the texts.”
“She doesn’t want me, Danny.”
“Read. The. Texts.”
You took his phone, startled into obedience by his tone. You saw the texts were from Sam, not from Emma or some other girl, and immediately felt guilty.
“Never mind,” you said, trying to hand his phone back. “I don’t — I’m sorry, I — ”
“No, go ahead.” His voice was low. “Read them, sunny. Since you’re so sure you’ve got me all figured out.”
You looked helplessly at the screen, skimming dozens of texts between him and Sam. Your gaze snagged on one phrase, and you felt like you couldn’t breathe.
I love her. It was right there in front of you, a message from the boy you loved to his best friend. I love her. I don’t know if I should tell her.
You looked up at him, afraid to ask if it was real. “What is this?”
He gave you an incredulous look. “What do you mean, ‘what is this’?” he said. “What does it look like, sunny?”
You looked back down at the texts.
Tell her!!! Sam had replied. Birdies says you should too.
It’s not crazy?? Danny had sent back. We haven’t even kissed! No way. It’s insane. I can’t tell her.
Come on man, Sam said. When you know you know. Tell her tonight. Don’t wait.
Danny hadn’t sent anything back after that. You guessed that had been when you’d walked in, and the messages you’d been so bothered by had been Sam pestering Danny for an update.
Suddenly the messages blurred in a wash of tears, and you pushed his phone back into his hands and covered your face.
He sighed. “Sunny...” He sat on the edge of the bed. “Look, this doesn’t have to be a whole thing. I’m sorry I lost my temper and made you read those texts. I’ll drive you home, and then you never have to see me again.”
You looked up, awash with tears. “You don’t want to see me again?”
He looked stricken at your voice. “No! I mean, yes! I mean...” He held his hands out to you, helpless, pleading. “Of course I want to see you again. I want to see you every single day for the rest of my life because I love you, sunny. But now you’re crying again, and I have no idea how you feel about me saying that, and — oof!”
He grunted a little as you all but threw yourself into his arms, surprised but still steady as he caught you against him.
“What is this?” he asked, repeating your question from earlier.
You pulled back just enough to look at his face. His expression caught between fear and hope, and you loved him more than you could ever say.
“What do you mean, ‘what is this’?” you said. You touched your hands to his cheeks and gave a watery laugh. “I love you too, Danny.”
No sooner had the words left your mouth than he’d taken you in a tight hug and stood to spin you around.
“Yes!” he yelled, exultant, boyish and sincere. “Yes! Oh, thank god!”
You giggled as he spun you one more time, dizzy and happy and so in love with him you could barely stand it. Never in your wildest dreams had you imagined you would get such an enthusiastic response to a love confession, and you adored him for it.
He set you gently on your own two feet but still held you close.
“I love you,” he said. “Is that crazy?”
You laughed. “No. I don’t think it’s crazy at all. I love you too.”
He took your face in his hands and kissed you, warm and passionate and sweet. When he finally let you come up for air, you looked up at his beloved face.
“I love you, Danny,” you said softly.
He smiled. “I love you too, sunshine.”
He kissed you again, and you could have stayed like that forever if Danny’s phone hadn’t gone off over and over again.
“I’m gonna kill him,” Danny muttered between kisses.
You smiled, affectionate towards Danny’s friends who just wanted to make sure he was happy.
“Tell him,” you said. “He’s not going to stop until you do.”
Danny gave you a few more kisses, attempting to leave you after each one, drawn back to you irresistibly and met with your laughter and sweet kisses in return.
“Go,” you laughed, giving him a light push towards the bed where his phone lay with several texts on the screen.
He did, reluctantly, but he was pleased that you came to sit next to him at the end of the bed as he scanned through Sam’s texts.
“Look at this,” Danny said with a fond, mildly exasperated laugh. He showed you the text thread and scrolled through a number of texts all bearing virtually the same messages: did you tell her? how did it go?
“What are you gonna say?” you asked.
He showed you the text he sent. I told her. Is it possible to die of happiness?
“Aw, Danny,” you said softly. You gave him a gentle kiss, and he melted against you.
Sam texted back, and both of you laughed when you read it.
HOLY SHIT??? to answer your question I don’t think so otherwise birdie would have killed me by now but CONGRATS BROTHER!!!!
A few seconds later, he texted again. Birdie says she wants to have lunch tomorrow and hear everything from both of you but for now we’ll shut up and leave you to it!!!! Go get ‘em tiger!!!
“Oh, god,” Danny said with an embarrassed laugh. He locked his phone and tossed it on the bed. “Well, there you have it. The thrilling saga of texting my friends who apparently made it their personal mission to see that I told you all my dirty secrets.”
He laid back on the bed, and you remembered there were still secrets you hadn’t gotten the answer to. You were content to forget it, though, not wanting to bring up anything that might ruin the perfect balance of happiness and excitement between you.
“What is it?” he asked.
“What do you mean?”
He gave you a knowing smile. “You’re thinking real hard about something, sunny. Tell me. Do you want to ask me something?”
You didn’t know whether to like that he could read you so easily or to blush at the thought that every emotion played across your face as you felt it.
“Kind of,” you admitted, “but it doesn’t matter. It’s not a big deal.”
“Should be an easy thing to answer, then.” He tugged very gently on the necklace he’d given you. “You should know right from the beginning that you can talk to me about anything, sunshine. I promise.”
Your heart wobbled a little. “Thank you,” you said, and you meant it.
“You don’t have to thank me, but you’re welcome.” He tenderly brushed his knuckles against your jaw. “What do you want to ask me, sunny?”
You took a deep breath.
“Who’s Emma?” you finally asked. “The... the girl who can’t wait to see you tomorrow?”
He gave you a kind smile.
“She does my hair,” he said.
You felt a searing flash of embarrassment. “No she doesn’t.”
He laughed. “Yes, she does. I’m getting highlights tomorrow.”
You winced, mortified at yourself and your overreaction. You covered your face with your hands.
“Oh, Danny. I’m really sorry.”
“Why? You don’t think I’d look good with highlights?”
You couldn’t answer, and he chuckled as he propped himself up on his arm, pulling your hands away from your face with his free hand.
“It’s okay, sunny,” he said consolingly. “I get it.”
“I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions,” you said. “I’m sorry, Danny. It wasn’t any of my business who you were texting or who was texting you anyway.”
“But she sent me a kissy face,” he said sympathetically. “I understand why you were upset, sweetheart.”
Your heart jumped at the pet name, and you couldn’t stifle the nervous, giddy laugh that bubbled out of you.
He grinned. “What was that cute little laugh for?” he asked. “Did you like it when I called you sweetheart?”
You covered your face with your hands again, blushing hot. “No.”
He chuckled. “Come here, sunshine. If you hide behind your hands every time you blush, we’re gonna be in trouble.”
He tugged gently on your wrist, and you followed until you leaned your head against his shoulder with a soft thump.
“You are my sweetheart,” he said tenderly, amused and affectionate. He kissed your cheek. “My baby love, my dearest, my pretty girl. My honey bunch.”
You smiled. “Your honey bunch?”
“Yeah, you like that one?” he said with a soft laugh. He peppered gentle kisses over your cheeks. “Let me take you on a date tonight, honey bunch. A real one, not a wedding.”
“But we like going to weddings.”
“We do,” he agreed. “But I think we need something a little more low-key, like some late-night Thai food.”
You lifted your head from his shoulder. “I actually know a good Thai place around here.”
“Sweet. Let’s go.” He gave you a quick kiss as he stood, and you were a little stunned with how easy it was, how casual and wonderful it was to be kissed like that.
He looked mildly worried when you didn’t stand with him. “You okay? You want to go somewhere else?”
You shook your head. “No.” You took the hand he offered you. “Can you kiss me again?”
He smiled and pulled you close. “Sunshine, I’ll kiss you until you’re sick of me.”
“Not possible.”
“Oh yeah?” He leaned close to kiss you again. “Well, I guess it can’t hurt to find out.”

It was a normal routine to explore and at least attempt to relax while the log post reset.
Thankfully we landed at a island where they weren’t so frightened by pirates. So we could just enjoy the towns, shop, do whatever we needed to.
I woke up, ready to tackle the day, the first thing I planned to do, train with Zoro like always.
He was my best friend, the one person who truly lit up my world and for some reason, I couldn’t find him anywhere.
He probably just got lost again, but after searching for what felt like forever, I found Nami at a store, going to ask if she had seen Zoro till I heard his laugh and a woman’s too.
We were right across from a swordsmith where Zoro was laughing with a girl with short black hair.
I didn’t recognize her, but it looked like they knew each other well.
“Hey Zoro!” I called, heading over, ready to introduce myself, but they started walking away, “Hey, Zoro! I’m talking to you-“
Following them around a corner, they were suddenly gone. It was weird as if they disappeared. My voice was loud enough, so he had to of heard me.
I tried not to stress myself out about it, going back to the Sunny and doing whatever to distract myself.
Before I knew it, dinner time came around, Sanji serving the fresh food as we heard:
“Hey everybody. I brought a guest.”
“Oh yeah? Who?!” Luffy jumped up excitedly, all of us watching that girl from earlier walking in:
“Remember my friend Kuina I told you guys about? She’s in this village. What a coincidence, right?”
The way he smiled at her made me feel sad, a bit jealous even. All of them welcoming her and I was so zoned out, watching as everyone introduced themselves, Luffy tapping me:
“And this is Y/N!”
Trying to smile, nothing but anxiety came out, the silence so awkward as Kuina just stared at me.
“Y/N is a swordsman too. Well, swordswoman,” Zoro sat next to me, and Kuina followed, looking me up and down as she passed:
“Mhm, interesting.”
I was so anxious that I could barely eat, Zoro managed to make some small talk with me. Saying that he got caught up with the swords smith where he ran into Kuina.
Zoro sounded genuine, so I smiled at him:
“Can’t blame you there. They did have some nice swords. We should go back tomorrow. I have the money.”
“Looks like you need a real sword instead of that pocket knife you have,” Kuina mumbled, not thinking I heard.
If anxiousness wasn’t enough, that pissed me off. I had one of the rarest katanas on this whole planet. I tried to ignore it and eat, but my stomach was in knots, having to put my fork down, covering my mouth.
“Hey, you ok’y?” Zoro said with his mouth stuff, patting my shoulder, looking at him, I saw Kuina’s eyes darting at me and I said quietly:
“I think I need some fresh air is all. Excuse me, please.”
Leaving the dining room and going up deck, staring at the moon with deep breaths, it helped my nausea, but I couldn’t build the courage to go back in there.
Maybe I could just train with Zoro tomorrow morning. Not bothering to go back to the dining room, I just went to bed, curled up in my pillows, hoping tomorrow would be a better day.
“Rise and shine, Zoro,” I said sweetly, going to his room and peaking my head in the door and no one was there.
“What are you doing?”
Turning around, I found Kuina, arms crossed with a scowl on her face.
“I was just looking for Zoro. We train every morning. It’s practically a ritual,” I explained, trying to be as kind as possible.
“You know, calling yourself a swordswoman is pathetic. I can just tell that all you are is a giant weight strapped to his leg, holding him down.”
“You’ve never even seen me wield a sword!” I scoffed, baffled by her assumptions.
“I’m sure I’d want to gouge my eyes out if did. You stay away from-“
“Kuina! Y/N! You ready to train?!”
I just stood there, puzzled by how quickly her manner changed, looking at zoro with a smile as she nodded:
“Always ready! Y/N was just hear showing me her katana. I’m ready to see what she’s capable of!”
That made my jaw drop, Zoro so oblivious as he laughed at me:
“I bet that’s nice to hear from Kuina, right?”
“Just a bond, between swordswomen,” She giggled, glaring at me as Zoro had his eyes closed, still laugh, wrapping an arm around him and practically flirting with him, “How about you and I do our traditional warm up first though. You haven’t taught her, huh?”
“No, that’s just for us,” He smiled at her, falling right for it, saying to me, “It won’t take us long though-“
“That’s okay. You two just practice,” I whispered, walking away while fighting tears, “I’m nauseous again. Probably from that squid Sanji made.”
“Wouldn’t surprise me,” He chuckled, changing moods so quickly as he took Kuina, “Time to train, Kuina!”
“Im always ready!” She smiled back, but glaring at me as I stopped and watch them walk away.
For the entire day, I sat out by some rocks that where by the shore and I could see the two of them training, walking into town together.
Zoro and I were practically inseparable and now that Kuina was here, it was like I didn’t exist. If I was even the tiniest bit quiet towards Zoro, he’d be asking what’s wrong. Now nothing.
Heading back to the Sunny as I was starving, I found Nami reading, sitting at the counter with her.
“Hey you, haven’t seen you at all today. You alright?”
“Is it okay if I ask for your opinion, Nami?” I asked, taking a deep breath as she nodded:
“Of course.”
“So, ever since Zoro ran in Kuina, he’s being treating me so differently.”
“Define differently,” Nami tilted her head at me as she was intrigued.
“Like I don’t exist,” I said while fighting tears again, “He ignores me and only pays attention to her. He won’t even train with me. And that Kuina, she keeps saying smart things under her breath. She even threatened me this morning! But the second Zoro comes around she acts like some Angel. I’m not overreacting am I?”
“What? She threatened you?!” Nami’s response made me feel somewhat at ease, clearly agreeing with me, “I could punch Zoro for that. It’s completely unfair to you.”
“Thank goodness, I thought I was going crazy,” I sighed, Nami being the great friend she was as she rubbed my back.
“You’re not crazy, Y/N. You know what actually? Skip Zoro! Let’s go have a girls day or something. What do you say?”
“I’d like that a lot,” I smiled softly, holding her hand as she dragged me along calling out:
“Oh Sanji! Y/N and I would like to go town! Would you be so kind to escort us?!”
I realized then what she was doing, laughing as Sanji was so far away his voice echoed, but he zipped right over:
“COMING MY SWEET ANGELS!”
Putting down the ramp so we could exit the Sunny, he held both hands out for us
“Shall we go, my dear princesses?”
“We shall,” I giggled with Nami, taking his hand and heading for the town.
“First things first!” Nami pointed at a boutique, smiling at it and Sanji running to get the door.
“Buy whatever you want, my loves. My treat.”
“Say less!” I laughed, heading in and this was exactly what I needed.
Trying on so many clothes, we left with handfuls of bags, trotting along with Nami and Sanji, but darting an eye as I heard:
“What the hell are you doing shopping at a boutique?”
Zoro. It made me remember when he ignored me at the sword smith’s yesterday. So, I did what he did to me. Ignored him and kept walking.
“Y/N?” Turning at the wrong corner, we finally lost trail of him.
I hoped that I would be the last I saw of him till we all went back to the Sunny. Sanji treated us for dinner and while sipping an excellent glass of wine, Nami and I glared as Kuina approached the table with Zoro.
“We can join you, of course right?”
“Why of course!” Sanji’s lovesickness was a pain, but I acted as if she wasn’t there. Only talking to Nami.
“So, uh-, you see that swordsmith today?” Zoro leaned towards me, staring with a cocked eyebrow as I only shrugged.
For a change, he sounded nervous, trying to talk more:
“You really should. I saw a katana I think you’d like.”
“Tomorrow,” I huffed, looking and focusing on the food being served.
Zoro wouldn’t stop staring at me, not knowing why I would only talk to Nami and Sanji.
Sanji did keep his promise of paying, going to leave and I was last next to Zoro.
“You going to finally tell me what’s wrong?” Zoro pulled me aside where no one could see, growing angry at my response:
“Nothings wrong.”
I went to walk away, but he pulled me back, claiming:
“You’re lying. Now tell me what’s wrong, damn it.”
No words this time, I snatched my hand away, going to leave to, of course, find Kuina who was waiting.
“Taking my advice huh? Good girl.”
Referencing what she told me in the morning, I only stared at her, stopped dead in my tracks, ready to lose it on her.
“Not getting lost again, are you Zoro?” There went her good girl act again, and it made me clench a fist, “I’ll make sure you don’t get lost.”
“Leave me alone,” He groaned, rolling his eyes at her, “I have you two to guide me.”
Rolling my eyes at him, I shook my head and headed for the Sunny.
Luffy apparently found a bunch of things he liked and wasted his allowance again, but it was nice seeing the whole crew practically on the main deck, dancing and laughing, Sanji serving drinks.
I decided to stick with Sanji, who was tending to me as if I really were a princess. I wasn’t so blue or angry, but I shouldn’t have given my hopes up.
“Want another glass, my love?” Sanji offered and I smiled at him:
“You’ve been treating me all day, dear. You stay put and enjoy yourself. I got it.
Heading to get more wine, I stopped as a request caught my attention:
“Mind bringing me a refill too? Since you wanna be so sweet?”
Zoro was sitting against the wall, holding up and empty bottle. I was conflicted but my soft spot for him softened some more, going to take it but it was snatched away.
“Don’t worry, Zoro. I know what you like.”
“I thought you haven’t seen each other since you were kids. Unless Zoro has been drinking since he was a child, I don’t know about that.”
Finally, something in me snapped, not tolerating Kuina’s fake attitude anymore.
For a change, she was speechless. Zoro looking at us confused, Kuina starting to show her true colors as she was breaking too:
“What did I tell you earlier?”
“Guy, hold up,” Zoro quickly rose to his feet, but I ignored him again, raising my voice:
“Why don’t you tell me again? Tell everyone for that matter! Especially Zoro, who’s eating up all you’re fake bullshit!”
“Y/N!” Zoro tried pulling me back, but I swatted him away, silence falling with all eyes on Kuina and I.
“I’ve had enough,” Kuina was bold, pulling out and wielding her sword, “Y/N, I challenge you to a duel.”
“Nothing Id love more,” I smirked, circling around the deck while wielding my katana, “You’re going to regret this, Kuina.”
“Y/N! KUINA! STOP THIS NOW!” Zoro was pissed, but shocked by the anger he’s never seen from me:
“YOU BUD OUT OF THIS!”
“For once, she’s right,” Kuina agreed, taking her stance, “I won’t bother to lie. I’ve never liked you and I will finish you.”
Everyone was in pure shock and I was done talking, only motioning her with a finger and as she charged me, one swing of my sword, striking hers, sent her flying into the wall.
Needing to pick herself up, there was fire of anger in her eyes meanwhile, I stayed composed, not even a hitch in my breath.
Blinded by anger and charging me again, we exchanged one clash before I knocked her to the ground, sword falling out of her hand.
She was quick enough to grab it. Rolling back just to get met with a strong hit from me that nearly knocked her down.
Able to regain balance, she went to strike me, but the moment she rose her katana, I sliced it in two, breaking it and sending it flying into the wall.
“I’m done wasting my time with you,” I growled, putting my katana away as she kneeled before me, “You’re no match for me.”
“Holy shit,” I heard Zoro whisper, that making me chuckle, ready to return to my wine, but freezing as everyone gasped.
There was this sharp, pierecing burn in my stomach, shaking as I looked down, blood oozing out of me as Kuina pretended to stand but rammed her ragged blade through my stomach, close to my belly button.
“Y/N!” Everyone yelled, Kuina hiding the space between us to twist while pulling out her broken blade, making me fall to my knees instantly, Zoro screaming:
“WHAT THE HELL, KUINA?!”
“Oh my god,” She tried playing little miss angel again, even putting on fake shaking, “It was an a-accident.”
“Accident my ass!” Luffy screamed, running to my side along with Chopper and Zoro, Zoro making it to me first.
“Don’t worry, I have you.”
Before he could touch me, I slapped his hand away, holding my wound with pressure and snapping:
“Don’t you touch me!”
Managing to make it to my feet, it was hard to ignore chopper who was only trying to help:
“That’s a deep wound! Please let me-“
“I’m fine,” I groaned, staring at Kuina, “I’ve been through far worse.”
Blocking Kuina from my sight, Zoro had his back turned but I could tell how pissed he was, screaming at Kuina:
“What Luffy said! Accident my ass! You were trying to kill her! You were taught better than that. I can’t believe you! Get out of here! Leave!”
“Right now!” Luffy added, Zoro’s last words making me tear up:
“I don’t want to see your face ever again.”
I didn’t imagine him saying something like to her, but the last thing I needed was more drama, biting my lip as the pain started to kick in and Chopper was right, this was deep and bleeding more than expected.
While everyone was distracted by Zoro’s yelling, I limped to my room, tossing my shirt and getting my first aid kit.
I was able to stop the bleeding and just as I expected, I needed stitches. Nothing to numb it either.
Putting a towel between in my mouth, I got a needle ready, starting to stitch but hearing the door open:
“The least you can do is let one of us help you, Y/N.”
Shutting the door and seeing that I had stitching started, he rushed over:
“I got it. Bite the towel if you have-“
“I don’t need your help,” I muffled, watching as I stitched carefully, biting the towel as the pain increased some.
“You just don’t want it, and why?” He barked at me and I had enough, spitting the towel out and yelling:
“Because! For days now, you’ve been an complete dick head, ignored me, and all for that stupid Kuina, who just tried to MURDER ME!”
Standing there silent, I didn’t stop there:
“I get it! You haven’t seen her since her since you were a kid but how LONG have we been friends, huh? All we’ve done together! DOES THAT MEAN NOTHING TO YOU?!”
There were tears streaming down my face, but rage still all over it, straining my voice:
“She’s threatened and bullied the hell out of me from the second we met and you didn’t notice a got damn thing! Some friend you are, huh?
I was an emotional wreck, crying more as I admitted, “and to think I actually love your dumbass.”
As I was crying, I felt blood on my stomach, looking down and seeing that I made my wound bleed some again, patting it away then stitching it as Zoro stood there looking stupid.
“Will you just leave?” I sighed as I finished, “I need to shower and clean this up.”
“No,” He breathed in, squatting to me, “I messed up and I feel like shit, seeing that this is what it took to realize what was going on.”
“Serves you right,” I murmured, trying to stand but sitting back down from the pain, Zoro fixing me back on the bed softly, sitting next to me.
“You know that I love you too, right?” He whispered, my eyes about popping out of my head as he confessed, “I’m sorry and I don’t know how I could ever make this up to you. I was stuck in the past when I reunited with her and it blinded me and my judgement. You can be mad at me, I understand. Know that you’re right. We’ve spent a lot of time together and I cherish those moments more than you know.”
Zoro wasn’t the type to talk like this unless he was serious, his every word making tears stream down my face more.
I knew he wasn’t lying, I could see it in his eyes. All of these emotions, the pain from my wound, it was all too much, needing one thing and getting that as I wrapped my arms around his neck, Zoro hugging me back delicately.
“I love you,” He whispered, brushing his nose against mine and kissing me.
I had to press my lips hard to believe this was real, and it surely was, melting as his lips parted a bit and came right back, soft and full of passion.
“I love you too, Zoro,” I whispered back, needing to breath, but feeling at ease as he gave one more kiss, sitting up:
“Now, you stay here and trying to ease up. I’ll clean you up.”
The massive weight that I felt was on my shoulders finally started to ease away into nothing. Zoro did as he said, helping me clean up, then even stayed in bed with me as I surely needed the sleep.
In the morning, as I expected, Chopper came in to check on me along with Nami.
“Wow, you stitched this well,” Chopper complimented, leaving some medicine and herbal tea, “These should help you heal quickly.”
“I don’t doubt it,” I smiled, patting his head, “I’m feeling better already.”
“I don’t understand how you guys have superhuman bodies. You got stabbed, you know?” Nami was only concerned, but that made me laugh, shrugging:
“I don’t get it either, but I’m grateful. Thanks again guys.”
“Yeah, I got her,” Zoro came in, holding something behind his back, “Now that I’m back.”
I must’ve slept well. I didn’t even realize that he left, looking to try and see what he was hiding.
“Mhm,” Nami side eyed at him, leaving with Chopper and once they were gone, I asked:
“Whatcha got there?”
He was fighting a smile as he sat next to me, showing me a sheath.
“It’s the katana that I thought you’d like at the swordsmith’s. I spent what I had left just so you could have it.”
“Zoro-“ I cooed, touched by his gift, in awe as I slowly pulled out the katana, seeing that the blade was red. It was beautiful, “You sure know my taste. I’m in love with this.”
“I knew you’d love it,” He smirked, teasing, “Better start training with it as soon as you can.”
“Hell, I will right now. I feel fine!” I was actually excited, ready to get up, but Zoro took my hand, putting the katana away:
“Maybe later.”
“What? You have other plans?” I wondered, oblivious till he made his next move and kissed me.
“You’re gonna be my girl?” He whispered between kisses, nodding slowly as I kissed back, carefully laying me back on the bed, throwing his shirt off in the process, “You sure you feel just fine?”
“Oh, I’m sure,” I murmured while admiring his massive chest and toned abs, already helping with my hands on my shorts.
“Good,” He hummed, taking my shorts for me, burying his head between my thighs the second my panties were gone.
“O-Ooh,” I moaned shakily, biting my lip as his lips closed around my clit, hands holding me carefully, but tongue working into me with his beastly instincts.
After so much of his tongue fucking me, I was whining and shaking, a higher pitch in my voice making him pick his head up.
“You-“
“Don’t stop,” I said quickly, panting softly as my high was starting to drift away, “I was so close.”
“Oh,” He snickered, head dipping back down, “Let me make it up to you, then.”
“Pleaseee-“ I whined, thighs trapping his head this time as his tongue went after my clit again, making the high I was feeling before come right back, “Yeah, that’s it, Zoro!
He watched my every move as my hands went above my head, gripping onto the pillow, breathless as my orgasm flowed over, his humming while eating it right up making me shake.
Sitting up, he rubbed the shake in my thighs away, hand slipping between my legs, slowly adding a finger, then a second, pumping softly.
“Gonna let me love you some more, hm?” He whispered, looking down to meet my eyes as they opened, moaning softly at his fingers, but responding:
“What are you waiting for?”
It was a lot to process that this was happening, but wanting it, wanting him more than anything like I always have, chest heaving at the sight of him naked.
Not sure if it was a hex or if I was just madly in love with him, but I felt like I was in a different world, his eye staring deep into mine while coming to me, noses nuzzling with he positioned himself, pushing in.
“F-Fuc-“ I hissed through my teeth, the friction so strong already, that hiss melting into moans as he worked his cock into me with few inches at a time.
“You can take it, baby,” He cooed, kissing at my neck, promising, “I’ll keep taking it easy.”
Looking up as I shook my head, even he was a bit astonished by how my wound wasn’t affecting me in the slightest, telling him:
“I want all of it.”
Up straight and watching carefully, he fed every inch of his cock with a slow thrust, barely pulling back as he started rolling his hips at a steadier pace, smirking as I fell into deeper thoughts, spreading my legs wider and throwing out:
“Faster, Zoro.”
“Faster, huh?” He huffed, creating a shake in the bed as he did so, having my head nodding frantically, just a small series of those thrusts making another orgasm run after me.
“Uh huh!” The burn I was feeling was the best I ever felt, walls clenching him hard and my hands shooting out to grab him.
Wrapping my arms around his head, he gave me the contact that I needed so badly, knowing I was close again, sneaking his arm up to hold my chin:
“Look at me.”
Doing as so, I never felt such a deep connection between us before, eyes swelling with tears as he panted out with some soft groans:
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Zor-,” I meant that whole heartedly, but words being broken up by the moans signally my orgasm, “Zoro-oh! Oh!”
With his lips smacking against mine, I held his shoulders so tight my nails dug into him a little, air stuck in my chest, gasping hard against his lips as my walls pulsated then let my slick smother his cock, dropping limp from how hard it hit me.
“Damn, Y/N,” He huffed, buried deep inside of me with his head rested against mine.
“I just got an idea,” I whispered, making us both laugh as he looked for an answer, “This should be our new training.”
“I’m just that good huh?” He laughed, kissing me and I nodded with a smile as I kissed back:
“You are and I love it.”

Hi! could you write about izzy stradlin and the reader, where after 2 years they meet again and end up together? the frist time they meet was on gnr’s frist tour but the reader couldn’t stay with izzy so they had like a situationship . Sorry if it’s detailed!
Some sunny day
A/N:I love this kind of trope, it's just very cute. DW about being detailed, in fact I do like it more
WARNINGS: fights (not from Izzy and reader), pet names, reader is referred to as "Cinderella" but no pronouns are mentioned
It was a day like none other, Izzy woke up in the "hell house", as the boys in the band called it, to some screaming (which he later found out was Axl being pissed off over something small, as always).
He had some things to do today, so he dressed up in some blue button up, some jeans and a pair of black converse, grabbed the things he needed and left the place.
==============================
With the new strings for his guitar and the set of picks in a little bag he quickly shoved in the small backpack, he left the store.
When Izzy was heading back to the hellhouse he came across the new park that had opened recently, and it was almost empty, so the raven haired man decided to take a little walk.
==============================
When the man was walking trough the park he came across a familiar face sitting next to a tree and reading a book, which read "The Hobbit" on the cover in big golden letters.
He walked over to you and leaned one of his forearms on the tree, crossing his feet behind the other and looking at you
"so.... You were not thinking of calling any time soon?"
He said lowly, you got a bit startled and looked up at him, but as soon as you recognized his oh so slightly hooked nose a small smile tugged on your lips, mirroring his.
You closed the book and tapped the place next to yours. He seated down next to you and you practically jumped on him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders in a hug.
He wrapped his arms around your waist, hugging you back.
"I missed you... I just didn't call because someone forgot to give me their number"
You said as the both of you part the hug, raising your eyebrows, but the smile never leaving your lips neither his.
"well, if Cinderella didn't hurry right out of the place at midnight claiming that 'you can't leave your car alone' you would have the number"
He provokes back, wiggling his eyebrows lightly. You scoff, followed by a light chuckle
"for the record, my cat did scratched the couch when I got home"
==============================
After some time just chilling next to Izzy he realized the time and clicked his toungue
"I sorry, sweetheart... Axl is gonna kill me if I don't go back with the things..."
He says, getting up from his spot
"Iz, are we gonna meet again?"
You ask before he leaves, looking up at him and fidgeting with the cover of your book
"some sunny day"
He smiles softly and so do you, but your grow bigger as you say
"well... Tomorrow will be sunny according to the news"
He raises an eyebrow
"are you inviting me on a date?"
"maybe"
"meet me here tomorrow at seven, if you don't plan on going Cinderella again"
He says before walking out, leaving you with your book and a little anxiety
"some sunny day"
You repeat to yourself lowly

This was a request by patreon by Dove: “For my request this month, could I get a yandere harpy Diavolo and satan? Separately, not poly. If you aren’t up for doing both, then just Diavolo is fine”
Harpy Satan and Diavolo as yanderes with GN-Reader SFW
Satan
Appearance
In the summer sun, he glimmers and some of the few folks who spot him claim him to be made from gold. Though that is an exaggeration, it’s not by much. His feathers are lemon blonde and on sunny days they reflect the light wildly.
His legs look like they belong more to a raptor than any kind of bird, thick with muscles clearly for kicking and clinging. His long raptorial feet are spread wide with the toes having three-inch long talons. The scale and leather-like feet are a soft cream color. The thighs then become meaty and feather covered and those feathers go up to his hips.
The feathers reappear on the upper half of his chest just below his collarbone. Wrapping around his neck and jawbone and going down his arms and making up his large wings built for speed. Those wings are double his height but tuck in snuggly against his sides. In the air they spread wide and reflect light beautifully.
On his cheeks and jawline he has small pin feathers and bristle feathers on his skin. While most of them were blond there were a few iridescent green ones, the same as his summer green eyes.
Seaside Lifestyle
Satan found himself a nice home. A proud little tree over a grand cliff-side overlooking the ocean and even the curvature of the earth with how high up he was.
His nest was made from driftwood, his own feathers, and dried grass. He found it cozy and made it a bit too big for himself, though he didn't mind in the slightest. It allowed him to spread his wings and lay on his belly. A sleeping position he found deeply comfortable.
The sea breeze was powerful and often woke him up for a morning flight. One where he simply had to spread his wings and up he flew. It was his favorite way of waking and gave him a nice boost in energy. Sometimes he thinks that the winds help him with catching good prey.
He only sometimes harasses humans, though he doesn’t make a habit out of it. Only ones that are particularly annoying. Food was plentiful and honestly, sometimes he preferred human sweets and books. He learned at a young age how to read human’s prints. And their baked goods were far better than even some of the juiciest fish and berries.
There are a few humans that think they're some kind of hero for bothering him. If anything he’s one of the least bothersome in the area. But should they try he will not tolerate any attacks and will leave their corpses for whatever wildlife wants to scavenge their bodies.
Spending Time With You
It was a bright early morning in the spring he had slept in due to the warmth of the sun but as he woke up and stretched his wings he heard a small gasp, whipping his head around he saw you. Sitting right at the base of a tree with a book clenched between your fists.
He recognized the font of the book instantly, a rare book, a sequel to one of his favorites that he got when he was so much younger. With a massive flap of his wings he landed before you casting a large shadow as he towered over you and leaned down before gently nosing the book to the beginning and sat there to read it silently.
He did this until the sun went down and as he silently closed the book before turning to you and demanding you bring more. “Payment for intruding in my territory. Be back tomorrow morning.”
You were traveling and staying here for a few days. So fear that he might hunt you down in town you came back with the few books you were traveling with. You came as early as you did yesterday. You still felt foolish wanting to just find a nice spot to read and getting wrapped up with a monster, but he didn’t seem like the others. He was still sleeping so you nestled in the same spot you were yesterday and waited for him to wake up.
Satan was surprised again by how quiet you were. Waking up and finding you just waiting there. He was pleasantly perplexed on why you were both able to sneak up on him and even listened to his demands. Though he was happy to read more.
This went on for a few more days. Perching close to you and when the wind blew hard he’d hold up his wings so you both could read. He’d offer some food, and would eat with you. He’d spend the days you had here just reading and he’d get closer every single day until he claimed his neck was hurting from leaning over so he’d yank you into his la so he could read over your shoulder.
It was two days before you were supposed to move on, and it doesn’t matter if you told him or not, it was like he could sense it, your impending travels. That night he was insistent you stay with him. Pulling you into his large nest and trapping you under his wing.
The whole night you were close and he was so soft and warm, softer than any bed you’ve ever laid in. It was impossible to fight sleep. Something about this gentle heartbeat lulled you to rest your head against his feathered chest.
But the next morning you were nearly knocked from the nest as he darted up from the nest and let out an animalistic hiss. From below you saw a man holding a rifle up at Satan, but when you entered his gaze his face contorted into a colossal mess. He shouted something about taking you hostage, but your heart was still beating hard enough to make into your ears from the sudden wake up and muzzle pointed over your way.
There wasn’t even time to process what happened. By the time you blinked and were able to breathe there were feathers on you, a bit of blood, and a man torn apart with his innards exposed. Satan flapped his way back into his nest wheezing with a bit of blood seeping out just below his collarbone, much too close to his neck.
He collapsed and just laid there, bleeding out. And something about this gentle cre- no, this gentle man being shot after the days you spent together made you drop from the nest and run to town.
Satan tried weakly calling out to you but was simply too tired.
He awoke with a misery in his bones, certainly not dead with how much he ached and when he was able to open his eyes the sky was a bright orange, creating a glow around your tearfully relieved face. You had run back into town to get supplies to treat him. You had basic experience, though not enough to pull the bullet out of him. He had lost a lot of blood and you were sure he wasn’t going to make it, but here he was.
‘Ah, this is he one then.’ That simple thought came to mind as he used his wings to pull you in and hold you against his chest. Once again, he was still so warm.
So after that, he started following you. He didn’t care about the public shock. He didn’t care for the terrified murmurs. He planned on following you wherever you went. As long as it was you, and there were books to follow he didn’t care.
Dark Tendencies
But because of this he grew fiercely possessive of you. Aggressively so. He allowed no one to touch you and pull you closer while sending the offender a look that could kill, teeth grit together and feathers fluffed to the fullest.
And if they ever ignored his warning, which many did not, he’d bite into their flesh uncaring if it tore from bone, no one touched you. No one would touch what was his. And even if you scolded him or panicked he didn’t see anything wrong with his behavior. If people wanted to hunt him down for it he’d simply take you to the next town.
And should it ever prove to be too much to you, he simply thinks that you’d take better to his old way of life, you seemed much happier at his nest before, but he wouldn’t have you exposed to the dangers again. He’d find a nice new spot high up and safe from everything else. It could be just you two again.
And those tears? They were certainly tears of joy. Or maybe you weren’t used to being so high up. He’ll pull you close again and let you settle down. Not to worry, nothing will bother you again. He’ll even bother the humans more to get you the books you both enjoy.
Life with you was sweet and brought him a peace he had never known before. He’ll make you as happy as you make him.
Diavolo
Appearance
Rumors of a feathered dragon had been around the area for eons now, but he was not even related to the fire breathing beast, or at least he didn’t think so.
He was the largest he’d had ever witnessed and he had flown all over trying to look for the perfect place to nest. But he seemed to always break them with his wings or his large mass. Last time he checked he was around thirteen feet tall with his wingspan being double that.
His feet are raptorial in shape and have bone crunching claws, several inches and capable of bending even the strongest metal. He has the same anatomy as other harpies, the feathered thighs, the wings for arms, though on a much bigger scale. There were a few differences, his whole body being covered in feathers not a patch of skin showing besides his face.
And on his face are sharp little feathers that split into sharp little feathers, that are more like knives. When rubbed against bark it not only leaves a mark in the wood, or even rock.
And his feathers are a lustrous crimson hombre to a glossy charcoal and even a stormy night sky black.
His tail feathers were much longer and nearly looked like a peacock’s though it didn’t spread like one. Instead having long spear-like feathers, much like the depictions of a phoenix.
A Lonely Life
Due to his size he’s unable to live with the forest harpies, he can’t take to the sandy cliffs as they are too shallow, the mountains are all he can reside in, and as months go by he becomes even too big for some of them. Constantly growing more and more. So he has to move every four to five months. He’s never really had a place to call home since he left his mother’s nest.
But still he persists, because who is he to deny the life his mother gave to him. Other harpies flee at the sight of him, not willing to contest territory against a massive beast like him. Most of them dwarfed in comparison to him, even flocks couldn’t bother him. So when he moved into an area they would never really fight, simply give him a wide berth and if they happen to meet with him while hunting they’d scramble to flee and leave whatever prey they were hunting.
It was a lonely life, hardly any interaction since both his kind, human kind, and many monsters feared his presence alone. He craved the company of another, the warmth of someone who loved him.
Some nights he fall asleep remembering his mother and father’s warm down, and he would softly sob into his own feathers.
Spending Time With You
It was a late summer’s night and he had been gazing at the stars when the sounds of harpies screeching and a human screaming carried its way up the mountain side. He was a ways up from, so for it to be loud enough for him to hear-
He decided to check, with one stroke of his wings, rocks tumbled as he shot skywards. Looking down he could see a mod of harpies trying to get at you as you held a burning piece of wood, swinging at any of them who came too close.
You were ragged, clothes torn, sickly, and tons of wounds. The harpies were getting shot, yanking your hair, scratching your face, biting your back and ripping more cloth. You were staggering, almost out of stamina.
He pitied you. Humans were such delicate creatures and harpies almost always hunted humans who couldn't defend themselves. So when descended and the flock saw his silhouette they scattered leaving feathers everywhere.
You didn't even get a proper look as a dizziness rushed to you head and you collapsed, wood falling out of your hands. Diavolo looked at it for a moment before taking it along with yourself and back to his den.
He took the time to set up a fire and gently put you into his nest, then getting you food and water for when you woke up.
He sat there all night watching you, seeing your chest softly rise and fall, he even gently licked your wounds and smiled to himself as the blood flow stopped and your pained expression slowly faded to a peaceful one.
It took a while for you to wake up. About two days. By that time he had dug a small hole to hold the water he collected, and a pile of fresh berries and animals still fresh from a hunt, thought your saviors was out wanting to get more water. When you stood up you were surprised by how little you hurt, and you drank as much as your body could allow. Dining on the berries and even getting to work warming yourself and cooking by the fire.
But when Diavolo came back and he saw you up, he dumped all the water he hand in his mouth and bounced up to you nearly knocking you away with the fluttering of his wings and putting out the fire.
He checked over you, asked you a flurry of questions that left you dazed and confused. Diavolo then managed to calm himself and slowed down. Turns out you where traveling and got lost, you had been out in the wilderness for days and then attacked by the harpies.
He tried cheering you up, but instead you were simply thankful to still be alive. You had never heard of a harpy that would go out of their way to save humans. So when you thanked him with a smile, he felt his heart leap out of his chest. For a few moments he thought he was having a heart attacked, but every time he saw your face something inside told him to keep you safe, keep you. You are wonderful.
He then insists for you to stay, giving you everything you could ever need, making sure the fire is stoked, you had food a plenty, so much fresh water, and a warm place to sleep, tossing you on his chest as he laid on his back and threw one of his massive wings over you.
Having Diavolo take care of you helped you to recover your strength quicker than you imagined, you had a spring in your step not too long after and he was more than happy to see you up and well again. Still bouncing and nearly tumbling you over.
But when he saw that you were ready to leave him, he made sure to use every excuse he could to have you stay here. Other harpies would get to you, he shouldn’t fly with you just in case a wound reopens, you start catching on.
Dark Tendencies
And if you pushed to leave still he’d stand in your way, and his smile as a sinister twist to it. “No, let's keep you inside now. I would hate to see what would happen to you if I wasn't there." And no matter how much you fuss or scream he simply won't have it.
He guards the entrance and he's now willing to take you with him, after all he needs to keep an eye on you. But with how sharp eyes are it's impossible to slip away. He always managed to gently pick you up with one of his feet and continue doing what he was until he was ready to take you back.
He'd never hurt you, never punish you for escape attempts, he'd just plop you back in his nest and smile at you with such deranged warmth.
To make sure you didn't run at night he'd pull you to the crook of his wing and squeeze you to him, loose enough to be able to move, but close enough so he could feel you slip out from his grip.
He simply wants the best for you as he starts to fall even more madly in love with you. His heart was pounding in his chest every time he gazed at you, every time he felt your skin against him. He could eat you up. Though he'd never try anything like that.
No he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. To be your mate and provide for you every need and want, besides leaving him. It's a lonely world out there. It would be cruel to let you go back to it alone.

Run
warnings: violence-weapons- angst
summary: the w people attack Alexandria, y /n and carl already fighting are forced to huddle together and get over it xoxo. 1683 words
Its a semi cloudy day, perfect for relaxing inside and doing nothing. It was also turning out great. You woke up, got dressed, remembered you have snacks downstairs, and started cleaning up. When you were in the bathroom brushing your teeth you hear your bedroom door open. Peaking out you see its carl, not surprised, since you guys go back and forth “sharing rooms”
"Oh good your up. Did you finish the spare shampoo I had under the sink?"
You covered your mouth trying to be polite and not laugh at his sternness "Uh yeah sorry I can ask Daryl to put that on the list. You'll get it by tomorrow."
He furrowed his brow "K."
"Whats your problem its just shampoo."
"God my problem is you. "
You were taken aback at how fast he snapped back at you. He didn’t usually act like an asshole but you knew he would eventually get out of his little mood swing. Internally you decided to help him get out of it faster by arguing.
You rolled your eyes "oh please elaborate! Because I'm sorry your having a bad morning but that has hardly anything to do with me."
"you're useless. Your ass doesn't do anything except hang around your little friends and eat shit. What good are you?"
Turning from the mirror to him you mustered up the meanest look you could. Then popped the tooth brush out of your mouth and rinsed preparing to go off on him. Who does he think he is calling you useless? He was just your 'bff' yesterday and now he's acting like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
"First I am not useless. Do you even think before you speak because that doesn't make sense at all considering I am the one changing Judith's diapers, cleaning both your room, hers, and mine every week, and on top of that cooking your meals, so please come get me when your attitude is looking up. Cause I don't know who put you in this mood but its your job to get out of it."
You walked past him scoffing. Downstairs you grabbed your walkman, a bag of grapes, rollerskates and walked out the door.
You had been rolling around the neighborhood for a little while, enjoying the fresh air and exercise. Eventually, you came across a bench and decided to take a rest. As you sat down, you reached into your bag and pulled out a handful of juicy grapes. As you savored the sweet flavor, your mind wandered to thoughts of Deana and her parties. You realized that you could really use some fun right now, and hoped that Deana would throw another one soon. In the meantime, you decided to listen to some music on your Walkman. You scrolled through your playlist and selected "Rehab" by Lana Del Rey, letting the cute melody wash over you as you enjoyed a moment of peaceful solitude on the bench.
You sat there soaking in your thoughts mindlessly eating your grapes. You started noticing small things that you didn't notice before like how lifeless everything looked when it wasn't sunny. It made you think of Winter which was coming close. The thought of Christmas warmed your heart, but made you wonder how different it would be celebrating during the end of the world. Surely parents want their kids to have something like that. You definitely would even at your age.
Or maybe-
"HELP"
You quickly jerked out of your train of thought at the sound. Was someone hurt? Looking around you didn't see anything. But something told you to get somewhere safe. You stood up gathering your things shaking, when you started hearing more screams. Startled you just grabbed your roller skates and ran in the direction of your house. As you turned a corner you saw the mayhem. People cut into pieces and random people running around with machetes and other weapons. Now officially scared out of your mind you sprinted as fast as you could.
Morgan was in shackles, people being sliced, beaten. You caught a glimpse of someone with a 'W' on their forehead. The group Rick and morgan were murmuring about got inside the walls and are killing everyone. As you neared the house you heard someone laughing close behind you.
fuck.
"No no no no" You Turned your head to see who it was and you almost started crying. A big, probably three hundred pound, man was running behind you with a spear. You picked up the pace still a block away from the house.
You looked to your right hoping Rick or someone was gonna shoot him but instead you saw a handgun laying on the sidewalk. You bolted to it and immediately picked it up and blindly fired two shots in his direction.
One hit his arm holding the spear. You went to shoot again but *click*. You panicked then he charged at you then you fell back. Now your heart was beating faster than ever hoping you didn't just get yourself killed. He was on top of you and you stupidly threw a punch but it hit him. Blood trickled down his cheek and landed on you. He hissed at the pain, not from your power, but from the four cheap and prickly rings you had on. Before he turned back to hit back you pulled out your knife from your boot about to pierce his neck when a shot sounded. You winced then realized Carl had shot him.
You quickly wiggled from underneath him as you had tried earlier then stood up and wiped the blood off your jaw, still in shock.
"I had it."
"Barely." He said in a cocky manner, but with some sympathy in his voice. "Are you okay?''
"um.........Yeah i'm okay." You said
Now you were feeling faintish after only having grapes as a meal for the day and all the stress you had just been through. It seemed he had noticed this too because he grabbed your hand and started guiding you through the chaos back home.
A couple of hours passed, you were boiling noodles for a classic spaghetti in the kitchen. It felt strange casually cooking a meal after what happened. But there seemed to not be any right way to deal with the fact that you almost become road kill.
Carl was upstairs probably putting Judith to sleep and getting into his pajamas. Your feet began to tingle, a sign they were falling asleep so you decided to stroll over to the counter and sit there after turning the simmer down. You ran your soft hands through your hair then slowly rubbed your temples. You heard him come downstairs.
"Hey y/ n"
You looked up "Hey Carl, whats up?"
"Nothin, just uh put Judith down. Are you doing alright?"
"Yeah i'm as good as I can be at the moment. I just have a raging headache. Also- where did the others go?"
"Oh they were helping people clean up, now their at Deana's." He paused "But I just wanted to talk to you about this morning.. Im sorry for being um rude. I didn't mean what I said obviously I was just well.. I don't know. I'm also sorry because its my fault you were out there when the people attacked anyway. Do you forgive me?"
"Yes I forgive you" you said slightly giggling "I can't stay mad at you for long but thank you for also saving my life. Even if it was your fault I was out there you could have chose not to save me, your best friend, but you did."
He smiled at the way you punctuated best friend "yeah" He sat in the chair next to you staring at his hands as if he was thinking about saying something.
As you rose to attend to the food, he said, "Best friend huh?" to which you simply replied, "Yep haha". However, the conversation took an unexpected turn when he asked, "Have you ever thought of like... being more?"
You stood frozen for a second, before realizing he was probably watching you from behind.
You had considered this possibility before, but you didn't want to complicate things by bringing it up. The thought of him rejecting you made you feel uneasy, wondering if he would be scrutinizing your every move after. You tried to shake off the feeling, but it lingered in the back of your mind every time you saw him, thought about it, hell even dreamt about him. You thought it was time to confront him about it, or at least bring it up in conversation. You didn't want to be paranoid, but you also didn't want to ignore your instincts.
"hmm well" you said teasing him a little "what do you mean?"
"I'm just being dumb or whatever"
"No, your not, tell me" You said turning around and smiling. This gave him hope that you would feel the same.
"It's just, I woke up in a bad mood cause I overheard you with your friends last night talking about me. You said I come on too strong and It's obvious who I like and-"
"Oh my god no carl" you interupted " I wasn't talking about you I was talking about Abraham and Sasha. I love them both but it's so funny watching their little friends to lovers trope"
He laughed "ohhh, my bad um" "Well sorry for that too. But what I'm trying to say is I like you. I thought you didn't like me back so I got mad but- It's okay if you don't like me back I just needed to tell you because I couldn't hold on to that secret anymore." he said nervously running his hand through his hair.
You smiled and looked at him. You felt like everything that you didn't expect to happen today was happening at the strangest times.
"That- well I like you too. I was too scared to tell you because I was afraid you didn't feel the same way"
"Really?"
You nodded.
He stood up and walked over to your spot grabbing the warm wooden spoon from your hand and pulling you in for a kiss.

Day 9: Lend an Ear -FFXIV Write 2024
Lend an Ear: listen sympathetically or attentively.
“Why do you do it? I will never understand that. They are in and out of this house more than your children, Mother.”
Xixa's oldest daughter was in a tizzy that morning, her daughter Lunah, had her first teeth coming in and hadn't let the girl sleep a wink. When she showed up on Xixa's doorstep it took the Viera no more than a few minutes to settle the baby down in the spare room with a teething rattle she kept in the freezer for such occasions. Now Xixa was making breakfast for the rest of the house and entertaining Liri's grumpy questions.
“Best to open the door to others than close it in their face. We all need someone to talk to, girl. Doesn't hurt a bit to lend an ear to a troubled soul.” This morning it would be pancakes and sausage for them all, the platter was already piled high and Xixa kept adding more. She was always prepared for guests, she had to be.
“But who do you talk to when you need someone, Mom? You are everyone else's sounding board like Lady Vi says, but who do you turn to?” Liri felt like she had a hangover at the moment from the lack of sleep, and she was already prepared to get some sleep after breakfast, on the couch so she wouldn't wake Lunah.
“The trees, girl. The grass, the elements, and the Shroud herself. Some of us are put here to help others, Liri. We don't think about our needs, we aren't selfish about our time or our love. We just open ourselves to the turn of the Wheel and what comes through the door, Spinner provides, is ours to handle this day. Today it was you and my screaming Grandbaby. Tomorrow, who knows.” Another pancake hit the pile and then Xixa turned to grab the sausage, tossing it into the same cast iron pan she had already used. The sounds of Lahsih and Volhi filled the house as they woke to the smells of breakfast and scrambled to get ready for lessons in town.
“Don't you feel used though? People are always here with their problems instead of seeing you?” Liri rested her chin on the edge of her cup, her long ears just falling flat from exhaustion.
“If I did, girl, I would have shut the door in your damn face this morning or not gotten up to answer it at all. It is my path in life, and I was given the tools I needed to walk that path. There is nothing to feel used about. People just need an ear. Life is hard, look at yourself just nineteen with a daughter going on two. We all need someone, and I just don't mind being that person. Sure it hurts sometimes, people ignore you and push you away.” Xixa's shoulders raised into a shrug, but her ears stayed alert, the sounds of the house never allowing them to rest. It was her responsibility to keep the others safe.
“I don't see the happiness in that. There must be something you want in return, something you search for from them that you let them in.” Liri was at the point of passionate protest which was nothing new for the young woman, she still had a lot of growing to do.
“Go get your sisters for breakfast now. I'm just about done.” This was the end of the conversation and as Liri huffed then stomped out of the room, like the brat she always had been, Xixa shifted her eyes to the window and looked out it at the sunny morning the Shroud had given them, a measure of sadness in her eyes and she whispered to herself.
“Just want them to love me. No matter how far apart we are, no matter if we can ever be together. That's what I want. That they would just be with me and just stop running away.” as she finished speaking a soft wind blew in the window to ruffle her hair and wrap her plump frame with a hug that only the air could give.

Request for a student!Larissa weems x student!reader song fic to sex sells by Lovejoy.
Maybe Larissa and r kiss/hookup drunkenly when they are alone at a party and larissa is gone in morning. The next time r sees them they have a tory bf and r is hurt because larissa told her bf r forced themself on her and that got spread round the school to the point where r had to leave?
Years later they are adults they meet at a party and Larissa apologizes for her internalised homophobia and explains they had a very unaccepting family and only dated that dick to please them. They end up hooking up and in the morning she is gone again and r is a scared she left again but Larissa comes back in with coffee and holds them while they tell her never to leave them again?
She's not there
Pairing: Larissa Weems x Reader
Word Count: 1265
Warning: internalised homophobia, insulting
A/n: I hope you like what I did with your idea!!!<3
You had probably liked Larissa since you had first seen her. How could you not? She was intelligent, funny, beautiful and so incredibly kind to anyone. All this time you had been fine with admiring her from a far, seeing her happy was all you cared about. Never would you have thought that she would hook up with you, but most of all, you would have never thought that she'd hurt you in the way she did. She was so kind after all, was she not?
------------------
It was a typical high school party, just with outcasts. But that made it even more fun, especially when the psychics used their powers to entertain the rest.
You stood at the side, laughing at the startled face of your friend, who was the victim of a psychic's joke right now. You had all drunken a little too much, the whole school would be hungover tomorrow, you just knew the teachers would be mad. But did that stop any of you? Surely not.
Suddenly you felt someone lean against the wall beside you, without looking you knew it was Larissa. You smelled the familiar mix of lemon and bergamot.
"Already bored?" You laughed at her, looking straight ahead, not wanting to look at her. You weren't sure what your drunken self would do.
"No, just wanted to spend some time with you." Your breathing hitched, surprised by her confession. Gently she turned you to look at her and as you had predicted, your drunken self wasn't able to hold back. You looked into her eyes and in mere second your lips were on hers. For a second she stiffened but fast she kissed back, dragging you out of the room into the corridor.
Still kissing, the two of you stumbled towards your room. Fiddling with the key you missed opening the door multiple times. Larissa chuckled behind you, grabbing your hand and guiding it, finally the door opened, and you fell onto the bed. It was the typical drunken sex, chaotic, messy, fiddling and a lot of giggling.
You fell asleep together, and woke up alone. Your heart broke a little, but at first you thought she just got overwhelmed, or she needed some air. But she didn't come back, and she also didn't talk to you anymore.
--------------------
Swore she'd never kiss a tory
But this boy was too good to lose
It was a sunny day, and you thought maybe going to Jericho would take your mind off of Larissa. Wrong decision. You sat in a little book café, reading as Larissa walked past the café with a boy around her waist. You knew him, he was an asshole. Homophobic and racist. Why on earth would Larissa date him?
You felt your heart clench at the look, day ruined. Fast you finished the coffee and left.
It was horrible, but what made it even worse was that everyone talked about it. Wherever you went, people called after you or insulted you.
"Hey, you freak. Why did you do that?" You turned, confused. You hadn't even been able to go to your room without people stopping you.
"What?" The girl looked at you disgustedly.
"Force yourself onto Larissa. That's disgusting, honestly." She spit on to the floor, nearly hitting your shoe. You had absolutely no idea what she was talking about, but you had an idea who spread the rumour. It hurt you, more than a rejection could have ever.
And it made your life living hell, everyday people insulted you, spit on you or just looked at you disgustedly. You were thankful that you didn't have a roommate, you cried nearly every evening.
Know she's not there, I know she's going to his flat
You just couldn’t stop thinking about Larissa with her boyfriend. The way his hand had lingered on her waist, holding her close. Like she was his property.
The talking and glancing became so bad, that you eventually decided to leave the school. You knew there wasn't another school for outcasts in America. So you moved to England. And even though it was hard, going to a new country alone, leaving your life behind, it was the right decision. It helped you heal and find peace again.
-----------------------
It had been years since you moved to England, you liked it and never left. So going to the class reunion was a little more effort for you than it was for most others, but you still did it. You couldn't deny that you missed Nevermore and wanted to see how it was doing.
Truthfully, you hadn't thought about the fact that Larissa would be there. So it did hit you as you saw her standing across the room, laughing with someone you didn't know.
How's it feel to be so loved, yet so alone?
Suddenly, for a second, you were reminded of how you had felt before you left. It was a short moment, but it stung.
You felt yourself panic a little as she approached you.
"(Y/n)? I didn't think you'd come." You tried to smile, but it probably looked a little forced.
"Well, I wanted to see the school again. I missed it and my departure wasn't exactly pleasant." Larissa's face dropped and guilt washed over it.
"I- I want to apologise, (Y/n). I shouldn't have done what I did, it was hurtful, I know. But my family was so unsupportive and always told me I shouldn't dare come home with a girl. So I grew up with homophobia and internalised that, being attracted to a girl scared be. And that idiot, Steven. I just dated him to please my parents. I never wanted him to tell it around school. I can understand if you can't forgive me." But honestly, how could you still be mad? She was charming and beautiful as ever, you had accepted what had happened. And above all, you knew how hard internalised homophobia and non-acceptive parents were.
"It's okay, Larissa. I understand how hard it must have been for you. It just really broke my heart, because I really liked you." Looking up at her, you knew you still did. You had probably never stopped liking her.
"Can I kiss you?" You looked up at her, waiting for her answer. She blushed immediately and slightly nodded. You never knew Larissa Weems could get flustered. A second later your lips crashed onto hers.
It did feel a lot like the last time, stumbling through the hall, fiddling with the keys, giggling a lot. And as you woke up and looked to the right, you thought deja vú.
Larissa had left, again. You felt your eyes get glossy, desperately trying to hold the tears back as you heard the door open. Hastily you tried to cover your still naked body with the sheets and looked up, just to see Larissa with a bag of croissants and coffee in hand. She immediately noticed the tears in your eyes.
"Oh love, what's wrong?" Sitting down on the edge of the bed she gently took you into her arms.
"I thought you left me again." You leaned into the warmth of her body, happy that she came back.
"I'll never leave you again. I just bought croissants and coffee." Softly she kissed the top of your head and chuckled as she saw that the sheets had uncovered your chest. Hastily you pulled it up again.
"Darling, I don't think that's necessary. My mouth was all over it just a few hours ago." She winked at you and your cheeks became bright red.
