Hi! I hope you dont mind this. I recently was informing myself more about bts and their past experiences, and i’m very probably wrong but i noticed how a lot of members (all of them, actually) have talked about and showed more or less some struggles, such as jimin, or v when he looked really numb and lost during official events, or yoongi, except for jungkook (and maybe jin?).

Except for that time when yoongi told us he sent jungkook a message saying he loved him (which makes me believe jungkook was going through a hard time), or others “small” episodes, jungkook himself never expressed a specific period of time where he was struggling for whatever reason, and it shocked me to hear him saying in ays that he doesn’t feel like writing his own songs because he doesn’t have much to say. To me it looks like he maybe downplays/avoids talking about his own hard feelings and times, despite probably being one of the members who struggles and struggled the most (his unreleased song being a good example, in my opinion), but i still came here to get another point of view because i feel wrong for being so introspective and making psychoanalyses about him. Maybe my curiosity is having the best of me and that’s all this is about🙏. But really, the way he can go through the most gut wrenching moments and still smile on stage or lives makes this whole thing really interesting to me and it’s more of an appreciation and empathetic thing than anything else.

We saw him saying he doesn’t think he really has a worth, saying he’s not good at everything and has a lot of flaws, we saw him sad during last year’s lives on weverse, but i can’t find anything where he really shared something regarding his own sad and depressed feelings, despite him being such a sensitive individual and being… human, which means he definitely has had hard times.

Do you think there was a specific year/time when jungkook looked sad or different from the cheerful and happy jk we know, and what’s your opinion on him not really sharing it? I hope again my question doesn’t sound inappropriate or rude in any way, i don’t want this to come off as invasive or wanting in any way to force jungkook to express his personal struggles. I’ve been mulling over it for a while because it’s something that I could talk about without ever stopping. It’s an ask that could allow me to get into the evolution of Jungkook from trainee days to now, you know.

It’s an ask that I could talk about and ‘compare’ (I hate that though, comparing people 🙈) the members and their different approaches to music when it comes to their group and solo work and how theirs to has evolved.

I’m not gonna lie I felt a bit defensive for Jungkook during his solo era. Something the fandom loves to do is ‘ours are better than yours’ with others, even within their own members, they like to be like ‘our group has the most song writing credits’ which leads to comparison with other groups, which leads to comparisons within the group and members solos etc.

When Jungkook’s turn came around I feel like there was a lot of expectation. I can only imagine what Jungkook himself felt.

Jungkook & Songwriting

To this point I think it shows what I’m saying, the expectation and comparison. I think because BTS have always been lauded as involved in their music, because it was something that wasn’t really the standard to kpop for their generation and those before, there’s always kind of been an expectation of them? But I don’t know if it’s because JK is one of my biases, but I feel like he was more ‘vilified’ for an album comprised of songs written by others and solely in English

The thing is though BTS do and have had much more creative control than a lot of kpop groups of their generation and the generations before, it’s not as straightforward as that. I don’t want to diminish anyone’s contribution or years of work, but it would be worth noting how one can get a songwriting credit. The rap line write their own bars, so for any song rap line have a rap verse, that’s an automatic songwriting credit.

Within a song making process there can be so many hands involved and points where tweaks are made, sometimes people can all get together and think tank the creation of the song lyrics, leading to the core group of writers, then through the recording process when tweaks are made more songwriting credits get added etc.

Or someone could write a song and due to the song being their baby not allow for many changes made apart from maybe by one producer, leading to only one or two song writing credits vs 7 song writing credits on one song.

Jungkook’s solo & group contributions

Each song would have a story behind it as to the level of contribution from JK (and other members) but it wouldn’t change the fact that he’d be entitled to a songwriting credit. For example ‘Dreamers’ was a song already done and sent to him for recording, but through tweaks made in the recording process Jungkook earned a songwriting credit.

Songs for ARMY

Whereas we know songs like ‘Still With You’ ‘My You’ were Jungkook’s babies and songs with only credits for Jungkook and the producer.

Isn’t it interesting the songs that Jungkook has the most involvement, if not primary involvement, are the songs about ARMY?

Jungkook has said that he like Jin, don’t hold on to negative emotions. They deal and move on.

However it seems like there’s one emotion that’s always remained constant and true to Jungkook, his love for army. I mean this man was so confident in this that he tattooed ARMY. He grew up with army, they supported his career and cheered him on, he’s said it’s because of being in the group and the group being successful that he’s been able to experience things such as the travels and activities in shows for army and the delights 🥴 of twinkies.

Not only is it easy for Jungkook to speak to army via lives etc it’s easy for him to speak to army via songs. It’s not a feeling he wants to process and move on from.

A Dramatic Shift?

I actually have a whole separate theory about this moment right here. I’ve talked about it with others in the past. It’s something that would need a whole separate post to get into.

Do We Delve Too Deep?

I think it’s the human condition to want to understand. I think it’s not an issue when you want to understand someone, someone that interests you, someone that brings you joy with their person and their talents. I think where you, myself and others have to be careful, is when we go from wanting to just understand someone to judging someone. Being disappointed in them for not living up to our expectations. When we thought we sussed them out and they don’t follow the path we thought made sense based on their past actions and our understanding of them.

With Jungkook, because we are not privy to the inner workings of of his mind, his emotions, his motivations, his day to day, it’s not fair to him as a human to be disappointed when he doesn’t do what we expect based on what he’s done in the past, based on what his members have done, based on what his fans expected.

It’s ok, I think, to sit and think on topics like this but I don’t think it’s ok to then project feelings onto someone because of it. They are our feelings and we need to understand why and then figure out what good they do to hold onto them? What it means going forward if those feeling hold value to us, do we still support, follow, invest or do we adjust our thinking or involvement? That’s what we have control over.

The kind of person Jungkook is

I’d like to preface this by saying I am one person on the internet. Same as anyone else, with no more or less access to him than the majority of us. The same media I consume is what is available to us all. His lives, his interviews, his songs, festas, memories, bombs, episodes, shows, documentaries etc.

All my inferences are from these, not Jungkoook himself, not a company insider, not a friend of a friend of the members, a sister of one of the members siblings friends 🤡 my opinion and opinion only 😅.

He is who he is. He says what he says. Even the members at times feel like they want to dig soul bearing emotions out of him

I don’t think looking to the past and nitpicking, microanalysing etc to point out where he looked the most miserable etc would do good to anyone. Being there in the moment, if we were, we would be trying to show him our love and support, empathising, seeing it to make ourselves not feel as alone, to see him as human etc.

For me to do that now for no reason as to just point out that…he’s…human? Well I think we should already know that. I do think Jungkook really was vulnerable and as open as he could be as an idol with millions of viewers during his lives of 2023.

That, I think, was one of the biggest windows into Jungkook the person, more as who his is now, the adult and not who he was when he was 19, 22, 24 etc. There were so many nuggets that could easily have been missed amongst the fun of the karaokes and cooking and eating etc.

I would advise you or anyone to, whenever you have free time, just pop in one of his lives, start from Feb and work your way through whenever you have a free moment (I know you said you have been 💜).

The thing is with this, in my opinion...when have any of the members been completely and utterly specific? We get little sentences or conversations here and there where we can refer to, but if it’s one thing I’ve come to realise about BTS is that they are good at letting us in without really letting us in. The hardships they have shared tbh can be generalised to each of them, struggling with idol body image, tough schedules, dance routines, being in their heads. Yes some members have spoken about their mental health struggles more than others (Namjoon & Yoongi), they’re not learning dance routines as quick as others or being confident with their dance (Namjoon & Jin).

But they’ve also all talked sometimes as a group of struggles, general to the group as a whole. I think if Jungkook didn’t share their sentiments, he would have said he didn’t?

Did we really know that they were on the verge of splitting until they said so on stage and then afterwards. We know of the few fights they tell us about and then those are the only ones they refer to for years after, and we can count them in one hand, vmin dumpling fight, namgi throwing laundry fight, hopekook and banana fight…?

When watching something like their last Festa Dinner, where the others talked, shared, poured out, like it’s been said in the past, when his hyung hurt is when he hurts. Maybe it is that he didn’t/doesn’t struggle with the same things that the other members struggled/struggle with. Being a trainee and an idol is all he’s ever known being with his hyungs, his friends, family, working, travelling, enjoying good food and good drink is Jungkook. Namjoon (David Quinones and producer Tony Esterly) writing a song like ‘Begin’ to capture Jungkook’s essence?

We know that Jungkook started trainee life in 2010? Born in 1997, ignoring Korean age system he’d have been around 13? I think we can guess the general kind of hardships pre 13.

Then once trainee life started we’ve heard him talk about having to learn to share, having to learn to dance and sing plus schooling where he probably had people either teasing him for thinking his was ‘a hotshot’ or wanting to be his friend because he was a trainee then a famous idol or constantly filming him, picturing him and gossiping about him? Away from home, constantly aching and exhausted, not knowing if he’d make it.

He has done vlogs where he talks about seeing his parents after a long time and how happy he was, he’s shown how happy he was to celebrate his graduation with his hyung and more interested in hanging out with them, than celebrating with his fellow schoolers. He’s talked with Jimin in a live about how after dance training he found a new passion and considered giving up being in the group.

It seems like with Jungkook he is someone to focus on the good, instead of the misssing his family, he talks to fans about the happiness in reuniting, instead of the difficulties of schooling he talks about the gratitude in having his idol career be successful enough to not be concerned with not being the best at school etc.

So I’d say over the years he has with little sentences here and there talked about his hardships but they probably don’t stand out as much because he, maybe through conscious effort, tells it to fans when there’s a positive to take from it. Like you also noted: ‘still smile on stage or lives makes this whole thing really interesting to me and it’s more of an appreciation and empathetic thing than anything else.’

He seems to not be someone to dwell on the sad and the hard but to deal with it and move on. He seems like someone who wants to share the good with people, not have people sad for him, in his songs he seems to want to reflect this hence his songwriting being more in that vein.

He like struggles like everyone else, has hardships like the others, has lows etc but his personality seems to not see the point in sharing to the extent some may want or get from the other members.

The reason we love each of them is BECAUSE they’re not the same, right? Right!

There is soo much more I could say (as one of my biases I could talk about him all day!) but tbh I needed to post this as is, because I was starting to obsess over this ask and letting it snowball🙈

If Jungkook went on live and asked toxic fans to stop harassing Jimin I already know exactly the kinds of comments we would be seeing in response -

“the company is forcing JK to say that to protect the company fave” *10k JM company fave posts* *random slurs, animal names, and bongo tweets* “look at how the company is shielding Jimin solos again” “notice how none of the other members are telling their solos to leave JK alone, JK is the only member who cares, the rest of the members don’t care about him, #JKleaveBTS #BTSdisband” “JK is only saying that because he has a kind heart, but I don’t have to be kind like JK, I’m going to protect him by going after the leeches who are trying to take advantage of him”

And then you would see a thousand posts from his solos/diets complaining about why JM hasn’t called out his own toxic fans, saying that he’s a terrible person who approves of PJMs harassing JK (and tkkrs and other solos would join in and pile on adding how JM doesn't care about the hate that TH/YG/other members receive from PJMs either). And definitely some PJMs would play into it and gloat about JK hating his fans but JM loving PJMs or something. It would be a whole mess, and for what?

JK asking fans to stop going to his house and to stop sending things didn’t work, JK saying artists are innocent didn’t even stop some ARMYs from talking about nwjn's a certain way (I don’t mean simply disagreeing with him, I mean some ARMYs outright dismissing his words and being condescending towards him about it, some were even resentful and leaving rude messages on his IG).

Pretty sure that solos/tkkrs would find a way to twist it to be even more hateful and unhinged towards JM. I mean tkkrs quite literally came up with a whole conspiracy theory so they could twist and dismiss anything they don’t like in BTS content (company forced fanservice ship, tkk hidden couple) and they include weverse lives in this now. How do you even combat that?

The people who want to believe a certain narrative will just twist whatever they want, dismiss whatever words and actions they don’t like to suit whatever narrative they want to push. Anyone who thinks that JK doesn’t like JM (and vice versa) is already extremely biased and irrational, you can’t really reason with that. JK has already done and said x100000000 things that contradict those narratives and they still just ignore it, and his haters never give him credit for it and expect him to do more. Not to mention people like that do not respect or care about JK in the first place, they just want something from him - to live vicariously through him, possess or own him, use him for whatever fantasy.

I mean sometimes I do want (all of) them to address toxic fans and I wonder why they haven’t, but I can also sort of see how it wouldn’t really change much and tbh I just assume that the seven of them have probably talked about this and have some mutual understanding on how they decide to handle it. And like I said JK asking his fans to leave Jimin alone would just result in another unhinged response from those groups of people and JM would be expected to also immediately make a statement or be painted as a terrible person who doesn’t care about JK getting harassed either.

This discourse is really tired and it’s sad the kind of expectations people place on JK about all of this, not even just to call out antis but never being allowed to tease or joke around, being blamed when antis twist his words, having the burden to prove that he doesn't hate his bandmates for some reason placed on his shoulders (even though he HAS proved that, they just don't listen to him). I expect it from solos, but every now and then I have seen some jikooker's also be weird to him about it and it's just really frustrating. Most people I see have just been celebrating and enjoying his live though!! Sorry for the negativity but I wanted to say something too because I can literally picture EXACTLY the kind of things they would be saying and no doubt it would just be another fandom headache.

I'll Sort It out

You and Jungkook had been together since early 2019 after meeting at the BBMA’s. It was both your first times at an American awards show, so you naturally felt a little out of place. Since you spoke a little Korean (having since improved greatly) you took a chance and introduced yourself to the group.

You and Jungkook stayed in contact after finding you had a natural connection and finally began dating in 2019, after a lot of pushing from each of your friend groups.

Whilst BTS only got bigger as the days went by, your audience mainly stayed the same. Not that you minded. You enjoyed playing smaller and more intimate venues. It allowed you to be closer to the fans and interact with them more easily, plus you could do meet and greats without all the pressure of disappointing people who couldn’t get in.

Jungkook always made it his mission to go to as many of your shows as possible, and cheer you on from the side or somewhere in the back of the crowd.

Ultimately, that’s how the two of you got found out. Him being spotted at one too many of your shows when he had no other reason to be in the city.

Neither of you had wanted to stay secret anymore, so with the go ahead from BigHit, you made the relationship public.

It felt good to be able to make posts with and about your boyfriend on social media after having to hide it for so long, you felt proud and wanted to show him off because you loved him... But then the hate started. On every picture you posted, even ones that had nothing to do with Jungkook, there would be hate. Even on posts promoting your albums, they would be accusing you of using him to stay relevant, since you needed all the help you could get, according to them anyway.

God forbid Jungkook dared to talk about you or your music on one of his live streams... That would only add more fuel to the fire. He would be blissfully unaware of the hate geared towards you, th chat moving too fast for him to notice.

But you knew.

They’d recently gone from just nasty comments on your posts, to messaging you actual death threats.

When that first happened, you stopped posting pictures with Jungkook and made private all the ones already up on your page. Jungkook was confused as to why you suddenly did that but he didn’t bring it up after all, he had stopped using Instagram so maybe you were going to do the same thing?

Recently, Jungkook had been in talks to collaborate with other artists from America in preparation for the release of his first solo album, and when he bought up the idea of the two of you also doing a song together, it caused you to hit your breaking point.

‘What do you mean, no?’ He’d cornered you in his dance studio during a break. All the backing dancers had gone out so it was just the two of you left in the room.

‘It means no, Kook. It’s not a good idea.’ He stared at you like he suddenly couldn’t understand Korean, and he couldn’t stop the hurt flashing across his face. It hurt your heart to turn him down like that, but you had no other choice.

‘You can’t just say no without giving me a reason!’ he started to argue, now getting more angry than upset.

‘We can talk later.’ You mumbled, gathering your things to leave, hoping to escape this conversation until later.

‘No! You can’t just leave like that- hey!’ As soon as he reached out to grab your arm to stop you, you span round and unleashed your emotions onto him for the first time since this all started.

‘You don’t know what it’s like!’ You practically screamed in his face. Your cheeks had become red with rage and fat tears stained your face. Jungkook flinched at your sudden emotional state and went quiet, his anger drifting away into confusion as you continued.

‘-To constantly have people telling me I’m not good enough, and I’m just using you to stay relevant! It’s going to be ten times worse if we do a song together! Don’t you see!?’ You span round and cried into your hands, embarrassed that he was seeing you like this.

‘Baby... I-I had no idea...’ How could he not have known something was wrong. He felt so stupid that he’d apparently been blind to this whole situation. Just then, a thought struck him.

‘Is this why you made all those pictures of us private a while ago?’ You nodded without turning round and sniffled. You heard him curse under his breath and suddenly his arms were round you, cradling you from behind.

‘Why didn’t you say something sooner?’ He spoke against the skin of your neck.

‘I didn’t want to put you in that position.’ You shook your head and tried to calm your sobs.

‘Hey, don’t talk like that.’ He circled round to stand in front of you, gently sliding his hands up your neck to cup your face.

‘You will always be my top priority, ok?’ You nodded sadly and subconsciously reached up to grasp onto his forearms, more to comfort yourself than anything.

‘please don’t cry. I’ll sort it all out.’ He wiped your tears with the pads of his thumbs and pulled you into a hug, flush against his chest.

‘We’re also definitely doing that song together, by the way.’ You pulled back sharply, almost in disbelief.

‘Have you not been listening to anything I said!?’

‘And I told you I’d sort it! Please... Just trust me on this.’ He pleaded, almost begging you to trust him with his eyes. You sighed deeply and rubbed at your sore eyes.

‘Ok... I trust you.’

What Jungkook meant by sort it, was to basically threaten legal action to everyone who sent you death threats or tried to defame you, in the form of a very stern letter released through BigHit.

When Rationality Becomes Irrational

The number one reason people refuse to accept or admit the obvious nature of Jikook’s relationship is not because of Homophobia or Taekook, it’s because of excessive rationality--Jikook can’t be in a relationship because of the risks.

We’ve all heard the rationalizations:

1. Why would Jikook risk their careers and their bandmates careers over what could potentially amount to a fling? A break up would destroy the group! Jimin and Jungkook are too professional to take such a risk.

2. Hybe would never allow them to be in a relationship. BTS is their number one money maker and Jimin and JK are two of the most popular members. Let’s forget break up, what if they’re outed...that would destroy the group and with it HYBE’s number one source of revenue. So anything that looks suspicious has to be fan service because its financial suicide to allow Jikook to be “real.”

And I will admit all the above is true! Jikook being in a relationship is a massive risk! But this is where rationality can start to impede on our logic.

Yes, it is “irrational” to enter into a relationship with your same sex bandmate in a homophobic country when you are at the peak of your careers...but it was also unavoidable...

Let me explain:

Imagine falling in love with your best friend that you not only happen to work with but also live with. To make matter worse, let’s also imagine that your friend also loves you too. A physical relationship at the very least is bound to happen because at no point are you ever able to escape your feelings...you are with the object of your affection 24/7.

In my opinion,  It is more logical to expect a relationship to blossom out of that, regardless of the risks, then to expect these two individuals to have more self control than a Buddhist Monk. 

It is not rational to expect people to Always behave “rationally.” Thus, whether or not Jikook being in a relationship is rational or not should play no role in whether or not one thinks they are. Because there is no doubt that them being a couple is a risk...no one is arguing against that. All we are saying is risk aside there is no way they aren’t in a relationship because things like GCFT happened:

Jungkook planned and paid to take Jimin to Tokyo for his birthday--A city he said he wanted to spend his free time in on multiple occasions. He then spent a lot of time researching and constructing a romantic vlog of Jimin in Tokyo  set to the tune of a romantic song. No normal unbiased person walked away from that video thinking anything other than this video was made by a man in love with Jimin. 

Risk aside there is no way they aren’t in a relationship because they say things to, and about each other like, “I promised him I’d go even to the moon with him,” or “he’s my I am you, you are me,” or “I want to spend a long time with you” or “my favorite thing is waking up and seeing JK.” These aren’t things Just friends or even best friends say to each other in normal conversations. These are words lovers speak to each other.

Risk aside there is no way they aren’t in a relationship because instead of just flying to Hawaii from Europe, Jimin chose to fly back to Korea, get JK a birthday cake, and plan a birthday party to surprise Jungkook. He didn’t just wish Jungkook a happy birthday like any just “friend” would do, he made it a point to never miss celebrating Jungkook’s birthday with him. That is something a boyfriend or husband would do for their partner.

Risk aside there is no way they aren’t in a relationship because whenever JK looks at or talks about Jimin he has stars in his eyes. Jungkook comes live a lot and he spends the vast majority of his lives either live reacting to Jimin content, talking about Jimin, or becoming like a kid at recess whenever Jimin makes a point to comment on his lives. How can anyone watch JK’s recent lives and not conclude that, that man is in love with Jimin. His behavior is not normal friend behavior. Hobi’s support, and Yoongi’s support is normal friend behavior. They show up for him, cheer him on and even fan girl. But JK takes the cake. He spends huge chunks of time just gushing over JM, Why? Because he loves him.

Risk aside there is no way they aren’t in a relationship because when sick the only person JK doesn’t mind accompanying him or staying in the room with him, even when he’s being stripped naked is Jimin. When RM asked if he wanted them to leave for privacy...JK said yes but no one made JM leave because it’s understood that JM is not like the rest when it comes to JK. That’s a high level of closeness...to allow someone to see you so vulnerable, in a state of helplessness and be okay with it. 

Risk aside there is no way they aren’t in a relationship because they are always together. Band members, staff, they themselves admit this. They are always together on and off break. JK said when they were on break the only members he spoke to were Ji-hope. When members mention them they confuse their names, or talk about them in unison...Jk and Jimin did this or JK and JM are always up late! They are a package deal. We may not see them much now days but we know they are still together a lot because of the way they speak and other’s speak about them as if they are used to seeing them together “JM will come (box) when he gets off.” “JK make ramen for me when I come over.” “JM come eat chicken with me-” JM responds I will come when done. 

Risk aside...Their closeness defies normal friendship closeness. Jikook are human with human impulses and feelings. If they started having feelings for each other there was no avoiding a relationship...regardless of the risk...regardless of Hybe...regardless of the band! No normal human being would be able to stop themselves from entering into a relationship with a person they loved if they were under the same conditions. Every day i grow more sure of the fact that they are together because when I look at them I look at the abundance of footage BTS footage, fan sightings, JIkook statements and I conclude that even though they are well aware of the risks they took it because they knew there was no other option.

Jungkook is more superstitious then Jimin he believes in things like Destiny and from the way he looks at Jimin and behaves towards, protects him and sometimes treats him like porcelain it is clear that this man sees Jimin as his Destiny. Jimin while self admittedly doesn’t believe in things like fate and destiny, he does believe in committing oneself to someone for life and I truly think he sees JK as his life partner...which is why, as careful of a person as he is, he has taken the risk...because JK is his person.

Thoughts on ARMY and Consumerism

*Disclaimer: ARMY is used to describe all fans of BTS, despite contention about who should be allowed to use the term. This is critical of ARMY and HYBE. If you are sensitive to that criticism, you are forewarned.*

K-pop itself perpetuates a high level of consumerism with non-stop releases, numerous merch drops, multiple album copies, brand deals, and ambassadorships. Where BTS has been able to break many boundaries traditional K-pop sets, ARMY’s levels of consumerism has gotten unbelievably outrageous.

Just today, Jin was named ambassador of a jewelry company, with photos debuting him wearing the jewelry. One bracelet he wore in one photo got the attention of ARMY and within a few hours it sold out. But, that bracelet was $27,000 USD. This month, teasers of Despicable ME x BTS hinted that there may possibly be a collaboration or maybe a song on the soundtrack – only for it to be a merch popup?? And two mentions of BTS in the whole movie? Yet ARMYs are selling out BTSxMinions collab merch, for what? It was all ugly anyway and the minionifed members looked ridiculous, bordering disrespectful.

There are countless other examples: meaningless FESTA and RPWP merch, fundraising money to buy more albums to boost numbers, changing Twitter layouts for the merch releases.

Like any celebrity, BTS (the logo, the slogans, the BT21, the TinyTan) has turned into a brand, and have been for many years. But, inherently, as fans, we are not a fan of a brand. There may be ideological differences here in the way people are fans, but personally, I am here because I absolutely adore BTS’ music. I find them to be compelling, talented, unique artists creating and conveying beautiful, thoughtful messages through their music.

Of course, how is a group supposed to make money? They sell merchandise, albums, tickets to events and concerts. At some point though, enough is enough. Their messaging, artistry and dedication to their craft gets so muddled when all anyone ever wants to talk about is the new shiny thing HYBE has plastered their logo and faces onto. And more than half of ARMY buys into it.

It has a unique overlap with the spread of unofficial information and photos of the members. Since HYBE has primed ARMY to always be looking forward to the next thing they can get their hands on, especially in a “drought” of a hiatus (its not at this point), ARMY turns to member’s family accounts, Dispatch, media, and military websites just to get their fix of BTS. Their marketable attachments to their brand have turned inward to the members themselves, to the highest degree it has ever been.

If you speak out against the spread of unofficial content, some ARMY will scream at you to say “You don’t know how things work here, educate yourself, grow up, go back to Twitter.” To that I say, maybe the fandom should be reevaluating itself, like many ARMY already have. If we claim to love and support the members, why are we engaging with posts that are an invasion of privacy? Why are we allowing this level of normalization? Why should we be talking about family members that in ARMY’s relationship with BTS, have absolutely no involvement? Seeing the treatment of military pictures, press releases from unofficial sources, and updates is so disheartening, knowing that multiple members wished to go quietly and return to us as soon as possible (which is showing in their actions post-enlistment). Again, whether or not this is normalized does not matter, this is their time to be civilians. They can’t even have their privacy when they are legally out of their jobs as idols.

The manifestation of a perceived love and commitment to BTS as a member of ARMY has lead fans to be disillusioned with the people behind the brand. This is amplified tenfold in solo and (some) shipper spaces. BTS have built a relationship with their fans under the pretense of trust and respect for ten years. Every fan will hold a different ‘relationship’ to BTS, but tying their success to merch sales, streaming numbers, and album sales only pushes ARMY further into the cogs of consumerism. Focusing on every little update you can scour the internet to find, which turns out to be unethically sourced, pushes a fanbase without the moral structures ARMY have prided themselves on for years.

All of this piles on top of each other to reveal a fandom willing to silence ARMY who are using their fan platforms built on the radicalization that BTS has provoked in people to speak up for justice and humanity. When this issue of monetary focus in ARMY is discussed in the name of boycotting HYBE, people cannot even fathom the idea of pausing their spending on their favorite group, possibly for fear of missing out, sacrificing their fan involvement, or simply refusing to see the mission behind a boycott.

This leaves a fandom divided, hurt, and devastated in the wake of destruction from those who cannot see the value in BTS as humans and individuals first and foremost. I hope individuals reconsider what brought them to the fandom, what makes them stay in the fandom, and why they love the members. ARMY is not and should not be characterized by aesthetics and money, despite the current state of this fandom telling us otherwise.

BTS MOMENTS: Jimin & Grace feat. Taehyung & Jungkook - Maknae Line Interruption

It started like every V-LIVE she did - she did her introductions, showed ARMY what she was drinking which was either tea or some kind of soda, then showed off her snack which was biscuits from England that her mum had brought back - then got to business. ARMY knew they could come to Grace and talk about their problems, whether it was in English or in Korean, all would be answered unless she stated specifically what language she was speaking.

Today was a mix as she just came on to catch up with everyone as she hadn’t seen ARMY in awhile and had been busy with their comeback so she scheduled time away in her studio so she could just curl up in her chair and talk. 

One question had caught attention and she was in the middle of giving her explanation when a knock to her door interrupted her. Of course, ARMY were quick to guess who it was. There were only three people who would do this now in the middle of her live. 

“One second everyone, the babies are awake.”

Grace sighed and pushed her chair away, getting up with a slight ‘oof’ and made her way to the door. Sure enough, the moment she opened it, the maknae line came stumbling in.

“Oh noona, you’re on V-Live. Sorry,” Jimin tried to apologise over Taehyung and Jungkook saying hello to everyone right in front of the camera but Grace grinned, waving him off. 

“I wondered how long it would take for you guys to come here, you took longer than expected. We’re just answering ARMY’s worries,” she said as she took her seat again and let out a bigger ‘oof’ when Taehyung climbed into her lap.

“You need to stop going to the gym with Jungkook,” she muttered to him and nudged him so he could face the camera and she could still see the screen. 

“Noona! Pretty Grace. She’s like a mother,” Jungkook read the comments, face almost touching the screen. “My mother, you can’t have her. And she’s very pretty. But you still can’t have her.”

“You can’t have her either,” Jimin added as he pulled the youngest away from the screen to take over. 

“Most of these are in English,” he murmured as Jungkook pouted at him and Taehyung was more than happy to sit in his sister’s lap as he sipped on her tea. 

“Oh, here we go - what are your roles going to be when Grace-noona gets married?”

Well that let off a chain reaction which had Grace’s head spinning and ARMY taking screenshots as soon as it happened.

“Married?! She’s not allowed!”

“Who asked that? Yoongi’s number one wife? How dare you. You can’t say things like that.”

“Noona isn’t allowed to get married unless it’s one of us.”

“Rapmon-hyung!” Jungkook cried out when the member in question popped his head in. “Noona isn’t allowed to get married, is she?”

“Ah well,” Namjoon - the wordsmith of BTS, leader, who is super impressive at giving speeches - was lost for words. Considering of what he knew of Grace’s current relationship status.

He decided now was the time to make a swift exit, with Jungkook and Taehyung following. 

Grace sighed and ran a hand over her face, trying her hardest not to laugh. Everytime.

“Noona, I’ll go and fill up your tea. You might be here for awhile,” Jimin said as he took his sister’s mug and nodded in the direction of ARMY who were now asking a billion questions about what her future wedding would look like.

“Thanks so much,” she sighed as she rolled her chair closer and Jimin, the angel he was, went to get more tea. And maybe another snack. And maybe warn Seokjin-hyung that ARMY had high expectations.

It being said Buck and T*mmy are still dating and getting to know each other, and Eddie feeling left out is all well and good. It’s at the least a decent start to developing something (not that I want that anymore, but still).

However, couple those words with L*u FJ having not been seen on set at all… I don’t know how much of it I’m believing will stretch behind the first three episodes. I’m not trying to give Tim credit for being sneaky or anything, and I’m still not looking to watch the premiere. I’m going to hold off, but how far under the radar can they truly fly with his filming, and why would they want to, given Buck is openly bisexual and there was a positive reaction to the relationship even with Buddies being unhappy?

There’s no reason for me to believe L*u is so beloved by Tim and ABC that they’re sneaking him on and off set. I’m not saying he can’t have “snuck” on once or twice, but again… for what reason? No one in the cast is talking about him, the behind the scenes hadn’t really posted him, and no one has spotted him on set. So how well can the relationship be going if the actor playing Buck’s boyfriend has not been seen, heard, nor mentioned anywhere near the show this season?

The only way this supposed developing relationship keeps going, is if it’s over the phone or we get it in slices where T*mmy is never actually present. As in, Buck tells Eddie he’s meeting up with T*mmy, yet we never see them together. Or we see Oliver sharing the screen with a stand-in, and we only get arial shots of them.

I guess they could always be indoors. In a car or something, but idk. Something is very fishy. Tim and co either managed to slip that man on and off set for weeks, or they’re talking around a quick breakup. Because “getting to know each other” and “not much time has passed” equals Buck and T*mmy don’t know each other enough to have developed a deep connection. Which allows writers to write both an attempt for Buck to make it work and a breakup within the first 3-5 episodes without making the general audience feel like it ended abruptly or was pointless.

Buddie may not happen even if Eddie comes out this season, but if they do want to get rid of T*mmy, I will admit I can see them doing it this way. It would avoid starting the season with Buck being single yet again (which truly would not be an issue if they didn’t try shoving him with a woman every damn season in earlier seasons), but also give BT stans a little food. Make Buck try and want it to work, but ultimately have it fail. That also tells general audiences who are neutral about him “suddenly” being “gay” that he is serious about wanting to date men, but couldn’t make it work with the first one he dated.

Whether or not Buddie will be a result? I don’t know, but I can’t say I’m on team hopeful, lol. I think this is the last shot, and unless they cast partners for Buck and Eddie that knock it out of the fucking park in terms of chemistry, I do not see s8 being the place to start anew yet again. So Buddie really and truly makes the most sense if Buck and T*mmy breakup and Eddie comes out. Main characters getting together is tv normalcy.

There isn’t a single show or film in history where the mains don’t end up together, that’s why they’re mains. And if they wanted an outside relationship, T*mmy unfortunately is the only other choice outside of Josh, because he’s already here. So they either gotta make T*mmy worth the choice to not have Buddie, or they make Buck single and have Josh and Eddie randomly get together. Which would lows be just as unnecessary as BT, but at least Josh is likable.

Anyway, that’s my 5¢. They’re either setting BT up to be roadkill, or they did somehow manage to sneak that man on set for weeks, thus cementing the implication he will become an important character. Because again, there is no reason a recurring love interest is important enough to hide on set, just because he’s unliked by some fans. They didn’t do that with Edy, and people wanted her head on a fucking spike.

i’m not trying to be negative but i can’t help my defensiveness! why should we have to see the type of made up lies jikookers are spinning right now when a lot of what they’re saying could’ve been avoided if BH wasn’t so hung up on pushing a certain narrative for taehyung. where they stayed could house up to 6 guests and the beds are originally on two separate floors. taehyung joining “last minute” still should’ve provided BH enough time to make the necessary adjustments. they didn’t and now he’s being blamed for crashing a spontaneous romantic getaway. 

Hi anon! So... I think Jkkrs were probably always going to find some stuff to hate on Tae. I think it's highly likely that even without the mentions of Tae's visit being last minute they still would have made him joining Jk and Jm into him forcing himself in. But, I do agree that the way they mentioned it added fuel to their hate.. they feel 'justified' so to speak.

I've been taking some time to think about how I feel the whole show has been arranged in these three episodes. We've been talking about 'narratives' and the show being planned for some time now, but I hadn't really spent much time thinking about how I feel that is shown. I saw some talk about how Tae's visit actually wasn't last minute and more a narrative they are trying to push.. and while I definitely think that's possible.. I also think it possible he did indeed join last minute.. just because Jk (and probably Jm as well) also knew about this trip last minute. Jk only returned to SK a day before shooting Jeju (arriving at Incheon airport on september 25th) from doing schedules in USA. I feel strongly that the shoot fro AYS in NY was sprung on him last minute, and I definitely feel that's possible now too. I think it very possible that Tae heard about the trip, had been missing Jk while he was in US (I mean.. we certainly know they miss each other and go miles because of that .. Hawaii... Tae's To Find You live) and just took this opportunity to be with him.. and Jm as a bonus.

However, I have been thinking about what things look planned to me. And it's quite a lot. All minor stuff honestly, but it does show that they pre-plan to be able to have certain footage. The bed's in the villa for instance. I think.. that first bed was also moved to make place for the karaoke machine.. because having members do karaoke is a BTS thing. We are going to see Tae and Jk sing together, I'm pretty sure about that. It's not some big deal, but it is done to make sure there's karaoke in the episode. Same with the waterguns, same with the scooter and the motorbike. It's things we know members like to do, so it's harmless and definitely fun for them.. but it's also pre-arranged to allow for the opportunity of certain things. I think how Jk, Tae and Jm interact is real, though they are obviously aware of the camera's and staff being there.

Bh not being able to arrange things properly for Tae joining them is b*llsh*t though. They are a milion dollar company, they would have been able to arrange for a whole different villa on short notice. That matras on the floor wasn't neccesary. There was plenty of space to add another bed (which I asume is already there because ther's supposed to be space for 6 persons. The sleeping arrangements are the way they are to show the three of them sleeping in the same space.. I am curious to see that play out... I dislike the way they introduced him joining them, because everyone knew when that happened how some people would take it. So BH sure as can be knew that as well. BH is getting full fandom engagement right now. That is what they care about, and that is what they play into. To a certain extent, we are all being played with. Jkkrs were baited from the get go, now they get Tkkrs full attention as well (i'm not mad though, they can definitely bait me with Tkk all they want😂).

Jimin’s Place

I don’t really know how to feel about Jimin and Jungkook having a parts of the episode together at Jimin’s place. It did feel weird because Jimin in particular had until recently not shown use even the edges of his TV! Us loosing it over his billboard number 1 live and seeing a chair?! Then the live with his house tour?? I still don’t believe that was not a dream

All I can say is it’s Jimin’s place and if he allowed the cameras in, in 2022, when this was filmed then he was comfortable enough. He had confidence in the show showing what he felt comfortable with showing. Jin, Hobi, Jungkook & Yoongi didn’t show their places, so if he didn’t want to, I’m sure he wouldn’t have to.

What was the reason 🗣️

I kinda felt like the whole point of the show was to continue the mantra of Bangtan, that they love ARMY and they love each other, among other things.

I found it crazy sus that they showed the members as a whole unit and they showed them as individuals but the only two they showed in different setting was Jikook, not just cooking, drinking, talking and eating together but also making music together, with the parts of the recording of ‘Letter’ being shown.’

It was soo hard to ignore though!! They literally had Yoongi eating chicken alone, Namjoon cleaning his place alone, Tae chilling in his place and eating alone but Jikook cooking together, eating together, laughing together, being introspective and honest in front of each other.

What does it meeaaaannnn?!

The same way it’s being drummed into our heads that BTS love performing, love ARMY, love each other and are also individuals…I feel like it was also being drummed into our heads the reality of the closeness of Jikook?

That one can call the other over and they spend time together and do thing none group/work related. BUT that they also can rely on each other in anyway work related, including solo works. That there is nothing not accessible to each other when it comes to Jikook?

Jungkook has access to Jimin’s home, kitchen and also studio sessions during their solo careers, that Jimin can call on him and give him that access, that it’s mutual?

I mean we not only have this from the Monuments show, we have their companionship enlistment and the ‘coming soon’ Jimin & Jungkook show. It’s like neon signs on the closest duo in the group, at least to me. I LIVE! I LOVE IT! I can’t wait for more of it, however Jikook want to give it to us.

The ‘Friend’

In regards to the ‘friend’ that Jimin speaks about in his story, the one he had a little fight with, that he went to help move the next day and said he thought Jimin might be depressed. I personally don’t think it was Jungkook.

For me, it’s just because I don’t see the need to think that Jikook are each other’s only friends and only people they know. We know Jimin is a very loyal and loving friend. We know that he has friends that aren’t famous as well as those that are. Him not mentioning the name of his friend and just referring to them as ‘friend’ may not have been due to him ‘hiding in plain sight’ with Jungkook but more like just protecting the privacy of a non-celeb friend OR a celeb friend.

If Jimin wanted to say ‘Jungkookie and I were having a drink the other day and talking’ he could have, it would have been no different than him saying how Jungkook came to his hotel room several times day or night, multiple times on live and on the PTD DVDs. No different than him talking and drinking with Jungkook there in camera.

I do feel like Jungkook had heard the story before, but not because Jungkook was the friend in question, but because Jikook are close and talk to each other and Jimin would most likely have told Jungkook about this around the time it happened.

The only thing I am able to think of as my eyes scatter across the room of popular faces is "the amount of talent in this room is enough to swallow me whole". I’m overwhelmed with anxiety and I can't seem to remember how I was ever able to suppress it. I'm finding it increasingly hard to hide behind my extrovert persona, the one that is a lie, a huge lie in fact.

 I realized I had been lost in my head when the sound of loud clapping brought me back to the real world. I barely catch the very end of Hoseok's speech, something along the lines of "Thank you for supporting me", and "enjoy the food and music" then he gives a bow and walks down the stairs where he is immediately pulled into conversation. Oh, I can't even imagine the anxiety he must be feeling. I could simply stick to a corner and hide in the shadows, whereas he has to socialize with everyone out of obligation.

Socializing. For some reason I forgot that I'd have to do that. I've been able to avoid it thus-far having arrived minutes before the actual album started playing. Now, everywhere I looked someone was talking to someone else. I realized I couldn't just stand here alone forever. I examine the room for someone I know, even better someone I have interviewed because I'll take any familiarity I can at this point. This whole ordeal is making me question my job because how am I able to meet celebrities on the daily, and here I am stressing about having to socialize at a party.

I was too in my head again, so I didn't realize someone had been calling my name until I felt a few taps on my shoulder. When I turn around, I was met with no other than Jessi, thank god. We have met on more than one occasion, and she has a weird ability of making people extremely comfortable, something I am immensely thankful for right now.

"Yaz!" She pulls me into a hug. It actually does well to soothe me. "I didn't know you were coming."

"I didn't know either," I pulled back from the hug with a gentle smile. "Actually, I was kind of surprised."

"Why, are you and J-hope not close?" she questioned.

"I mean, I had him on the show and we got on really well. We've also messaged a lot, too." I know I sound hesitant speaking, as if I'm not sure of the words I am saying. It is kind of hard to believe that Hoseok would want a friendship with me of all people, let alone be close.

"Oh, he definitely adores you, we even talked about you once," she has a sparkle in her eye as she talks and for some reason, I feel obliged to believe her. "Also, he was one of the best episodes on your show by far."

She is right about that. It has been my most viewed interview by a pretty wide margin. Part of me knows it’s due to the fact that he is J-hope of BTS, obviously, but it was also such a good video. All my interviews follow a simple formula. I bring the guest on and we engage in whatever activity they enjoy, in Hoseok’s case dancing. It brings a different level of intimacy that you can’t get from simply sitting across from one another and reading questions from a card. The conversation always flows naturally, and it’s all so genuine. On top of that, even I can admit that Hoseok and I just clicked. Our personalities complimented each other well. So much that we even continued to develop our relationship through messaging, and now I am attending his album release party which is a very important step in his solo career. Maybe we are closer than I allowed myself to believe.

“Yeah, it was pretty great actually.” I could see her eyes light up at my slight self-indulgence. Maybe I should give myself more credit.

We both turn our heads at the call of Jessi’s name from across the room. She gives me another smile and hug and tells me that she’ll find me later. I am left alone again but it’s not as bad as before. The anxiety has decreased significantly, which made my apparent hunger more noticeable. Hoseok did say to enjoy the food so I might as well. The snack table was filled with delicious finger food. As I was reaching my hand to grab a bite of some expensive looking cheese on a toothpick someone called my name. I turned around to find none other than Hoseok’s bright smile.

“So, I see you made it!” He pulled me into a hug. Not the ‘barely touch you because this is a little uncomfortable hug”, but a “I feel like we’ve known each other for years hug’.

“Hoseok, you’re incredible. The album is amazing, the release party is amazing, your outfit is amazing!” We pulled away from the hug and I could see a feint blush on his cheeks hidden well in the dimly lit room. “I’m serious, you may be the coolest person I know.”

“Yahhh, you’re boosting my ego too much.” He said while smiling shyly.

“You also may be the humblest person I know so I actually don’t think that is possible.” He smiled at me again and I swear I saw a glimpse of the actual sun in him.

“Do you know anyone here?”

“A few people, mostly through the grapevine.” He could sense my hesitancy right away, I could tell.          

“Come, I’ll introduce you to my friends.” He said as he gestured to the general direction behind him where his so-called friends were. Knowing him, his friends could be some ultra-famous idols that have better things to do than interacting with me. I could slowly feel the anxiety creep back up my spine, and my heartbeat slowly increased.

“I don’t really want to be a bother,” he looked down at me with squinted eyes and a tilted head. “I promise it’s okay, I like being alone and these appetizers are calling my name.”

He chuckled at me in disbelief, as if that was an insane thing to say in a room full of celebrities. I guess you could say a part of me is forgetting that they are just normal people too, so I shouldn’t be feeling this intimidated by them. At the same time, I’ve seen celebrities get starstruck over other celebrities, so they really aren’t just normal people and I am going to tell myself that my feelings are valid.

“C’mon, you’re never a bother. You’re my friend and I want my friends to meet you” he said reassuringly. I guess that answers my earlier internal debate. After 2 seconds of contemplation, I let myself believe him, and I signaled for him to lead the way. He lit up and tugged on my wrist so I could follow him.

I don’t know who I was expecting him to introduce me to, but for some reason his members stupidly did not come to mind. Three of the seven members of BTS were sitting on the stage together, and their heads all turned to Hoseok and I as we approached them. Despite all my inner turmoil, I take pride in my ability to pretend that I am confident and unfazed by everything. That is how I’ve done so well in my career while dealing with anxiety, but as the three idols studied us as we approached them, I could tell that mainting my persona would be more difficult than usual. I know them of course, because who doesn’t these days, but seeing them in person simply beats videos and pictures. They really were beautiful men.

“Yazmine this is Taehyung, Jimin and Jungkook. Guys this is Yazmine.” Hoseok introduced while gesturing to each of them.

“Hi guys its so great to meet you.” I said with a smile. Jungkook and Taehyung who were sitting raised themselves up to give me a bow as well as Jimin who was already standing as I shook my hands at them. “Oh! there’s no need for that we can be casual.”

“Sorry, it’s a habit,” Jimin said with a smile. “After all these years it feels kind of strange not to be formal.”

“That’s how I feel except opposite. Getting used to being formal was a challenge and I sometimes still forget the strict customs.” I explained.

“Sorry if this comes across as rude but you’re not Korean? You’re Korean is really good!” Taehyung questioned.

“It’s not rude at all! I am half Korean from my mom and my dad is middle eastern,” as I was explaining, someone summoned Hoseok over to them and he gave my arm a firm squeeze in parting as he nodded to his members insinuating his departure. “I was raised in the US till age 12 and I’ve been back and forth since then.” I explained as they nodded in understanding. It was endearing how intently they were listening to me, and for some reason I felt oddly at ease with the three. My eyes wandered over to Jungkook’s as I finished my explanation, and as they met he quicky looked away.

“Your interview with Hobi Hyung was amazing by the way,” Jimin said. In the moment I don’t think I even processed that Park Jimin watches my show, I’d have to do that later. “The idea is so new and exciting. I hope that you’ll invite me once I start my solo schedule.” There was a sly smirk on his face. I wondered if it would be inappropriate to tell him I would probably jump off a bus if he asked me to, but I decided to keep that to myself in the end.

“I’ll see what I could do.” I joked back. Out of the corner of my eye I saw someone new approaching us and I turned my head to find Seokjin. I was now surrounded by four members of the group and I am surprised I’ve held my composure for this long.

“Hello,” he says timidly with a subtle bow. “Sorry to interrupt, I just wanted to say bye to these three. I’m Jin.”

Just when I thought these men couldn’t get any better, he introduces himself as if I wouldn’t already know who he is. I gave a bow back and smiled at his humility, “I’m Yazmine, it’s nice to meet you.”

“Hey Jungkook, this must be exciting for you.” At the mention of the youngest members name, I turned to look at him and caught his wide eyes and small headshake towards Jin that I was clearly not meant to see as his eyes shifted to me. “He loves your videos. One time he made me watch three episodes of your trying new things series.”

“Hyung!” Jungkook cried out. Obviously I was not supposed to be filled in on this information, but my heart couldn’t help but beat a little faster at this new discovery.

“Oh, did he now?” I questioned with a smirk. Jungkook’s face twinged a subtle pink that was barely noticeable in the dimly lit room, but noticeable, nonetheless.

“Oh yeah, Jungkookie is always sending us clips from your videos,” Jimin teased. Taehyung started nodding his head enthusiastically and decided he also wanted to join in on teasing the youngest.

“You should have seen his reaction when he found out Hobi Hyung was making an appearance, he was so jeal-”

            “Okay that’s enough.” Jungkook interrupted with an annoyed expression. Despite how much I was enjoying this, I also felt a little bad for him, and I’m sure he’s been at the center of their teasing all these years.

            “Well, I really appreciate the support, and it means a lot coming from you especially.” I reassured him. He gave me a shy small in return.

            “Well it was nice to meet you Yazmine, I am sure we’ll run into each other again,” Jin said with a warm smile. “Before I leave Hobi wants a picture with all of us.” He said while gesturing to the other members. They all nodded in agreement.

            As they all turned to follow Jin, Jimin turned to me and nudged my arm with his. “Don’t go too far, we’ll be back soon.”

“I’ll be here.” I reassured. I definitely wasn’t comfortable enough to talk with anyone else here, and their welcoming energy was definitely more than enough for me. Jimin and Taehyung followed Jin, while I noticed Jungkook lingering a bit. I could tell he had something on his mind that he wanted to say.

            “Isn’t it a bit early for Jin to be leaving?” I questioned. This was my best attempt at making him comfortable enough to tell me what was on his mind.

            “This isn’t really Jin Hyungs scene, he doesn’t really know many people and he gets nervous meeting them too.” Jungkook explained. I almost did not catch the end of what he was saying because I was too distracted by his eyes. They really do sparkle just like everyone says.

            “Wow, if that’s how Jin feels then I really am hopeless.” I said in shock. If a literal bts member was having trouble socializing, I was doomed.

            “Not completely hopeless, you have us now.” He said with the most endearing smile I have ever seen. There was also something about how he said “You have us now”, as if he was insinuating that I would be in their lives longer than just a casual conversation at a party. I know it’s probably my delusion speaking, but it’s a nice thought to comfort me.  “By the way I really do enjoy your videos a lot. I guess it’s kinda embarrassingly obvious now that I am a fan.” He said with a little more confidence while referring to the teasing from his Hyungs.

            “If it makes you feel better, I have 3 older brothers, so I know how it feels. Also, I am slightly embarrassed because of how many stupid things you’ve probably seen me do. It’s actually all coming back now.” I laughed. I started internally second guessing every decision I made for my videos because Jeon fucking Jungkook watches them, and I pray that he has not seen the bird calling video.

            “What, like the bird calling video?” He says with a chuckle. This is not happening right now.

            “I am actually going to ignore what you just said for mental health reasons.” He lets out a boyish laugh at that and I swear I’ve never heard something more adorable in my life. I would honestly embarrass myself 100 times over if it meant that I could make him laugh.

            We both turn our heads at the call of his name and see the members waving him over for the pictures.

            “I’m sorry I don’t want to leave you alone…” He says hesitantly.

            “No, don’t worry about it,” I said. “I’ll just be here trying not to embarrass myself.”

            “I won’t take long so we can be embarrassing together.” He said in a teasing tone. My eyes couldn’t help but widen. I’m either crazy, or he just flirted with me. I could hear his giggle as he turned to walk away while I stood there stunned. The butterflies in my stomach were going crazy as I watched him join the others. Seeing them interact with each other was so special. They looked so happy and comfortable. It was hard not to be slightly envious of their relationship. I can’t remember the last time I had a connection like that with someone, and I could tell it was rare. My eyes naturally wander over to Jungkook as he wrapped his arm around Hoseok. I could see his eyes glistening even from here with joy and contempt. His eyes meet mine and I find myself unable to look away even though I know I’ve been caught staring. His eyes crinkle at the corners as we look at each other, waiting to see who will break eye contact first. My gaze wanders across his nose and cheeks as my face heats up. I force my eyes to meet his one final time and I turn away with a light feeling looming over me.

You pick up the phone, hesitating for a moment before pressing it to your ear. Your heart races as you wait for him to speak. The silence stretches between you both, thick with tension and everything left unsaid.

“Why are we even doing this?” You finally ask, your voice colder than you intend. “I don’t think there’s anything left to say.”

“Please, just give me five minutes,” he says softly, almost pleading. “That’s all I’m asking. You deserve to know what really happened.”

You close your eyes, leaning back against the couch, arms crossed tightly over your chest. Part of you wants to hang up, to walk away before the hurt resurfaces. But another part—maybe the part that still cares, still hopes—urges you to stay.

“Fine,” you say with a sigh. “Five minutes.”

You hear him take a deep breath on the other end, gathering his thoughts.

“Okay. So… yeah, I was with her. I’m not gonna deny that. But I didn’t know she was going to be there. I ran into her by accident. I was sitting alone at that coffee shop, waiting for you, and she just showed up and sat down at my table.”

You stiffen, recalling the image that’s been burned into your mind since that day—him sitting with her, laughing, while you stood frozen outside, watching from the sidewalk.

“And you just stayed there? You didn’t think about how that might look?” Your voice trembles slightly, the pain of that moment creeping back.

“I did,” he admits, his voice tight with regret. “As soon as I saw you walk in, I knew how bad it looked. I swear, I didn’t plan to be there with her. I wasn’t even talking to her for long."

You stay quiet, letting his words sink in. He sounds sincere, but the hurt still lingers.

“She’s caused so much trouble for me,” you say softly, almost more to yourself. “You know how much I can’t stand her. It felt like you chose her over me.”

“I would never do that,” he says quickly. “You mean so much to me. I didn’t choose her. I chose the wrong moment to not walk away, and that’s on me. I should’ve left the second she sat down, but I didn’t, and I’m sorry for that.”

His apology hangs in the air between you, raw and real. You can hear the regret in his voice, the weight of the mistake he’s made. You swallow hard, your walls crumbling a little, though you’re not ready to admit it yet.

“Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?” you ask quietly.

“I wanted to,” he says, “but you wouldn’t let me, remember? I didn’t want to push you, especially when I knew how much it hurt. But I need you to know the truth. I didn’t want to be with her. I only want to be with you.”

The sincerity in his words tugs at something deep inside you, loosening the knot in your chest. You’ve spent days agonizing over what you saw, over the feeling of betrayal that twisted in your gut. But hearing him now, it doesn’t seem so black and white.

You take a deep breath, letting the silence linger as you sort through your emotions. It’s hard to stay angry when the truth is right in front of you.

“I don’t know why I believe you,” you say, your voice softening. “But I do.”

A sigh of relief escapes him on the other end. “Thank you. That means more than you know.”

You hesitate, glancing out the window where the evening sun is setting, casting a golden glow across the sky. Your heart is still tender, but maybe… maybe it’s not too late to fix this.

“I don’t want to lose you,” you whisper, almost afraid of the vulnerability in your words.

“You won’t,” he says firmly. “I don’t want to lose you either. I’ll do whatever it takes to make this right.”

For the first time in days, you allow yourself to believe him, to let the possibility of forgiveness settle into your bones.

“Let’s try again,” you say, feeling a sense of relief wash over you. “But this is your last chance. I won’t go through this again.”

“I understand,” he says, his voice filled with gratitude. “I won’t mess this up. I promise.”

You nod, even though he can’t see you. The hurt isn’t entirely gone, but maybe this is the first step toward healing.

Jimin for GQ Interview

His words are beautiful too. Compared to previous interviews, Jimin said much more. I would attribute that to the confidence and maturity that he has acquired.

It's comforting to see and read that writing FACE has allowed Jimin to be freer. That prettier glow and the way he is carrying himself are a give a way. Even he says that writing his lyrics was an enjoyable process although we also know it was difficult for him to get the words out on paper.

It's like the little wheels in his mind don't stop churning and he's constantly working mentally but then also physically. He's thinking his emotions for his next dances and concepts. He thinks of great things. He's always working, he said.

And beyond all of this, he remains humble and gracious and eager to be with his members on that stage again.

Jimin is warmth and victory personified.

GQ: During this year’s V Live, you introduced the album <Face> and said, “I wanted to boldly declare that I will overcome this period of wandering and the emotions that stemmed from it.” During the BTS Festa in 2021, you also said that what you “believe in” is something you can “create,” and what you “don’t believe in” is the idea that “destiny is fixed.” Moving forward on your own terms through your own efforts seems to hold significant meaning for you.

Jimin: I believe no one can set their own limits. While limits do exist, you won’t know where they are until you get there. That’s why I fully understand the courage and effort it takes to believe in yourself and keep going. The act of setting your course and moving forward through your own efforts is truly remarkable.

GQ: In the January 2022 interview with <GQ>, RM said that “confessions can sometimes make people stronger.” talking about the cathartic power of music. He admitted that while it’s important to be honest with fans, he also feels a mix of fear and freedom. Now that some time has passed since the release of your first solo album earlier this year, what do you think Face has given you? After all, some emotions only become clear in hindsight.

Jimin: The album helped me gain a clear understanding of the complex emotions I’d been feeling but couldn’t quite grasp at the time. Thanks to those experiences, I’m no longer afraid of the thought of picking myself up during difficult moments when it feels like I can’t get up.

GQ: The idea of filling in the gaps that can’t be expressed through music with choreography is brilliant. It seems you’ve gone beyond dance to also being interested in conceptualizing and planning.

Jimin: That’s right. During the planning when we discuss the overall direction or choreography, I actively contribute to the conversation, sharing thoughts and concepts that emerged while writing the song. I find that part of the process really enjoyable.

GQ: Though it wasn’t included in the published January 2022 interview with <GQ>, you mentioned that you often think about the meaning of abstract things, like relationships, loyalty, and love. Do you feel you’re finding answers to these concepts? What occupies your mind these days?

Jimin: They’re still challenging terms for me, since I’m in the process of maturing and becoming an adult. Perhaps because of that, my thoughts change every day. At times, words like relationships, loyalty, and love, feel empty, but there are also moments when they resonate with a deep warmth, even if I don’t fully understand them. I want to continue to experience a wide spectrum of emotions.

GQ: Is that perhaps why your music and dance seem to capture the dualities and complexities of emotion? This quality keeps each listening experience fresh, leaving a lasting impression. What do you personally require to translate these emotions into music, and then into dance?

Jimin: The first time I hear a song, it’s important for me to truly feel it. I strive to remember those initial thoughts and emotions and then express them fully when I’m on stage.

GQ: BTS has managed to make the concept of a “language barrier” seem irrelevant. After BTS entered the Billboard charts for the first time, I was really touched when you said, “BTS’s language is reaching different corners of the world. Instead of setting grandiose goals, I hope our language continues to connect with people in diverse places.” In your opinion, what is the key to overcoming language barriers?

Jimin: To get to where we are now, our team has faced considerable struggles, occasionally losing our way and experiencing conflict, but always supporting each other. The joy, sorrow, pain, delight, and love we’ve felt along the way—we’ve been candid about it all. I think these emotions struck a chord with people. So, in the end, it’s not really about language, but the heart that bridges the gap.

GQ If all the languages in the world were to disappear and only one form of expression could remain, what would you choose?

Jimin: I’d choose to keep the act of bowing, the gesture of lowering one’s head in greeting. This simple act carries a multitude of meanings: it can mean a warm “hello,” “thank you,” or “goodbye,” or it can embody a sense of consideration for the other person. If just one form of language or expression could remain, I’d want it to be this act that conveys greeting, gratitude, and respect.

GQ: You once answered the question “When do you feel most loved?” with “When all of our members are together.” Do you still feel that way?

Jimin: That remains unchanged. I believe a team is at its best and receives the most love when its members function as a team.

GQ: You’ve always cited ‘Young Forever’ as your most special song. In 2021, you posted on Weverse that whenever you listen to it, you think about the fans singing along. What scenes come to mind these days when you listen to ‘Young Forever’?

Jimin: I remember the scenes I saw from the stage. They were incredibly warm moments. They’re happy memories that stay with me.

I can’t believe that it’s an actual plot line that COVID prevented serial killers from killing so they had to change it up and go online. I’m sure the writers thought it sounded cool but it just sounds silly. What, did Sicarius’ first kill kits also include PPE?

Also why are these guys so willing to kill themselves for Sicarius? They seem like devoted to the cause and frankly, so many of these guys are narcissists and we’ve just seen one defy Sicarius, why are they listening to him? Seriously? No matter what he has on them, why would they consider it more important to follow his orders than their compulsions?

Seriously, the idea of Sicarius having money problems is so dumb to me. He’s been shown to have immense resources and technological capability as well as ample time to use them. Wait Sicarius actually has a real job? He wasn’t just bullshitting about it so he could travel all over the country? What, is running this serial killer network like a side hustle for him?
