A moment later, three jail guards walked in, escorting the man of the hour, he wore an orange prison suit, his hair was shaven, Lana recalled it was by choice as this was his hairstyle before prison, a change from his usual blue haired style, he was calm and even had a polite attitude, his aura though was unsettling, he was shackled as well, one of the guards shoved him gently on the chair across from Lana "Don't try anything Anderson" the guard said then took off his handcuffs, Kai fixed his attire, making himself slightly more presentable given the circumanstances "the man of the hour" Lana greeted him, she put on a polite yellow smile "Miss Winters, thank you for meeting me... I... uh... apologize for the attire, apparently formal chic isn't part of the prison's wardrobe collection" he cracked a joke, Lana gave him another smile "we're ready whenever you are" she told him, he grinned "I was born ready"

Lana gave her team an approving nod, they all took position "we're rolling in one... two..." the three wasn't verbal, it was a gesture that Lana was too familar with "A charismatic enigma, a millennial Machiavelli. Some might call him a cult leader, others… a visionary. But beneath the veneer of idealism lies a heart consumed by a very real, very dangerous hunger." she raised a knowing eyebrow at the camera then turned her attention to Kai "Kai Anderson, this interview... I've always envisioned it would go differently, perhaps one as you win presidential elections" she said, he laughed a little "well, you and I both Miss Winters, you and I both" he told her casually.

"What happened Kai? How did you turn from the man of the hour to a man in the orange?" she asked him, he let out a little scoff "A conspiring traitor is what happened" he snared "you are blaming Allie Mayfair-Richards for your choices?" he shook his head "No, I'm not blaming her for my choices, the choices I made were difficult but necessary, every leader knows what it's like to be in my shoes. I'm blaming her for conspiring against me, for pretending to care and believe in me, for lying to dethrone me... she came to me for help, you know? She wanted me to help her get her son back and what did I do? I helped her, and well, she stabbed me in the back" he said griefly "that must be nasty to experience" she said, he nodded "true, but you know... every experience is a lesson" , "I can see that lesson coming handy in prison as my resources inform me that you built yourself a nice group there" He nodded "yes, we... I see us as the underdogs, sticking together to protect each other, a family of brothers, if one bleeds the others do too"

"Is that what you've been searching for Kai? A family?" he smiled a little "don't we all search for a place where we belong? people to accept us regardless? protect us when needed?" he answered, from his tone, Lana could tell that this was a touchy subject, great, she needed to pry on that immediately "is that why you killed your brother and sister?" his smile dropped "Vincent had it coming, you know? He... he was going to turn me in and send me to an asylum, I'm not crazy, you know? I'm a man with a vision" he said defendingly "And Winter?" he went quiet for a moment, feeling the cameras zooming close to his remorseful expressions "she's the one person I truly miss, my plans for her were big..." that was the only comment he gave regarding his sister, Lana gave the signal for a break.

Kai looked like he was in distress, so far, none of the questions were in his favor, he had hoped that this intreview would be a spark, that if he showed a more humane side then perhaps a petition for his release would be signed, or that he would get some redemption for an appeal or even a parole. Then the team signaled for them to start rolling the cameras again "We're back with Kai Anderson and I do have a question for him that I'm sure every woman is asking" she said looking straight to the camera then turning to look at Kai "Kai... why do you hate women" Kai blinked at the question, finding it amusing "I don't hate women" he corrected "your actions speak a different story though" Lana insisted "Just because I believe that men and women are different doesn't mean I hate women, you see... this generation, this society has differed so much from its original principles and created a path that's so obsessed with equality rather than solving the thousands of issues that we're facing, and it's ridiculous, if you treat a woman like you would treat a woman normally then you're sexist and if you treat her like you would treat a man then you're sexist too" he said, playing it as a silly joke "is that what happened when you slapped Riley Michaels?" Lana asked "I was treating her like I would've treated a man, yet, she got offended, this whole... women are equal to men system is fragile. If she wanted equality instead of crying to her daddy about how the big bad man hit her, she should've just... slapped me back and moved on" he said it dismissively.

Lana raised an eyebrow at him, he wasn't trying to sound so redeemable now, no, he understood that this interview wasn't his salvation but a window to his soul, and he was getting sloppy, this was the perfect time "who is Avery Smith?" Lana blurted out of nowhere, watching Kai's world crumble before her eyes as he was shocked to hear the name "what?" he asked, his face looking pale "Avery Smith, my intells suggest that you knew a person of that name" he shook his head "no, no I didn't, don't... don't say her name" he said aggressively "why not?", "Don't bring her into this" he snapped, the guards immediately threatening to remove him from the scene as he was aggitated, Lana's team showed pictures of the girl, Avery on the screen next to Kai, he felt his heart beating fast, his grip on the chair's handles tightening "I said don't bring her into this!" he said, he got up and immediately smashed the screen before anyone could stop him, the guards instantly interviened and dragged him out of the room, cuffing him and apologizing to Lana Winters for their inability to continue the interview.

Lana turned to the camera "It seems we reached an end to the interview with former councilman, current prisoner Mr Kai Anderson, he did indeed show a color other than orange or blue, the color of a villain being exposed" the director said cut and they began to edit the episode.

Kai was escorted to his cell, the guards said something about him behaving himself better or whatever, but his brain was too occupied to function "who is Avery Smith?" the question kept repeating itself in his head, he struggled as he tried to push his thoughts away "man... you really blew it" he heard his hallucination saying "I know... fuck! You don't need to remind me!" he groaned "you ruined our one ticket out of this" the hallucination said again "shut up!" Kai said, he sat in a corner and hugged his legs, rocking back and forth, if anyone saw him like this they would think of him as the most pathetic thing ever "don't tell me to shut up" a familar voice said, he lifted his head up and saw her, just the way he remembers her, wearing her pink summer dress, jean jacket, high boots, the strands of blue hair in her natural blond hair, the smile, the sweet, innocent smile of hers "you can't be here, you're not real" he said frightened "I know... but your brain called for me so... here I'm" she replied sweetly, sitting next to him.

He hugged his legs again and hid his face "go... I don't want you to see me like this" he pleaded, she sighed "Kai, I've been watching you from up there, and let me tell you... this is the best I've seen in years... what happened?" she asked with a little frown "I... I don't know... I was just-" he paused "I'm trying to-" he paused again, as if all the excuses ran out of him, every lie he had told himself to justify his actions just disappeared "you were supposed to move on, live the life we've always dreamed of" she told him, he shook his head aggressively "no... no! You left! that's what everyone does! Everyone leaves me!" he said, his voice full of pain "I died Kai, I didn't abandon you" she corrected him "you died because I was weak and I couldn't protect you" he looked at her with tear-filled eyes "I died of a hit and run on my way to work" he nodded "if I wasn't... you should've been home, I'm the man! I should've been the one out there working, if I just did what I was supposed to do, that filthy illegal immegrate would've never hit you with his car!" Kai hissed "it wasn't his fault, you know that" , "I don't know anything anymore" he mumbled, choking back his tears "the car swirled due to slippery road, it wan't anything he's done" she continued, he said nothing.

"Remember when we were little? You always teased me for dying a few strands of my hair blue" she gave him a little nudge, he nodded "I died my hair blue... it helped me feel closer to you" she smiled "I know... I found it amusing" he couldn't help but laugh "hey... if I die... would I be... would I be reunited with you? With all of you?" he asked her, she shrugged "I don't really know baby, these things don't have a rules book, you know?" he nodded "but you can't die... you have more work to do and you definitely can't die here... I want this to be over", "the Kai I knew wasn't a quitter" she said softly "the Kai you knew was pathetic, he had dreams of an ordinary happy life that he would never get, he allowed himself to be abused by his crippled father, he allowed his mother to carry more than she should until she broke down and shot herself and her tormenter, he allowed Vincent to terrorize him and manipulate him and he failed to protect his little sister... the Kai you knew is long gone... if you see me now, you would weep" he said aggressively "I see you and I know he's in there somewhere this is the perfect chance for you to reconnect with him" Kai shook his head.

He opened his mouth to answer but before he could, he heard a voice that wasn't his, or hers, "You're okay Anderson?" the guard asked him suspeciously, Kai looked in his cell everywhere, she was gone, the sweet woman who was gonna be his everything was gone "yeah... I'm okay" he said faintly.

That night, Kai's dreams were filled of her, their dreams together, their memories, she was going to be the woman he marries, his savior, his entire world. Summary: You've always been one to frighten easily, but Ally makes you feel safe. That is, until you find out how her ex-wife really died and you begin to worry that the same fate will come to you.

At first you thought that Ally was the woman of your dreams. She taught you everything you know and has changed your life for the better. Her son loves you, and you feel like the three of you are a real family. Not to mention, Ally was the most beautiful woman you had ever seen in your life. Best of all, Ally actually understood the fear and anxiety that always ruined your past relationships. She told you all about her ex-wife, Ivy. Ivy never seemed to sympathize with Ally’s fears or be really interested in Ally, no matter how hard she tried. You always tried to be as much of a source of comfort for her as she was for you, after hearing about everything your girlfriend went through.

“I’m sorry she treated you that way. You deserve so much better, Ally.”

“Well, look at my life now. I have you now. You’re the best girl I could ever ask for. And, (y/n)? I never want you to feel the way I did. If you’re ever afraid, I want you to come to me and tell me.” And you would. And every time, she made you feel better.

But you also knew Ally coddled you. You knew that the group she led, and that you were a member of did extreme things in the name of their vision. You believed in this vision too, but Ally knew you weren’t capable of hurting or killing another person, whether he deserved it or not. At least not yet. So she shielded you from it. You weren’t stupid, you knew that there was more going on than what your girlfriend was willing to show you. But you both knew that it was still important work that needed to be done. Ally knew that you supported and believed in her too much to compromise anything, but she couldn’t take any chances. Especially now, when the rumors about Ally and about her past with Kai Anderson’s cult were worse than ever.

You knew the rumors going around about your girlfriend were just that, rumors. Purely slander to make Ally look crazy or unfit to lead. Nothing your girlfriend wasn’t used to.

The most popular one of these rumors was the one that you wanted to believe the least: That Ivy wasn’t in fact killed by Kai Anderson, but by Ally. When Kai was arrested, he confessed to all of the killings but credited Ally for killing Ivy. But Kai couldn’t be taken at his word. But the longer the rumor existed, the more you wondered. Why would he lie about not killing Ivy when he confessed to all the other murders? The more you wondered, the more you hated yourself for it. Ally wouldn’t have killed her own wife. Ally would never hurt you. She always protected you. But the more Ally opened up to you about Ivy, and the bigger a part you began to play in SCUM, the less you could ignore it. You never told her anything. You didn’t want to upset her. You tried to put the thought out of your mind. Your girlfriend did not murder her ex-wife. 

But, being you, you had to be absolutely sure. You did more research on the situation with Kai, looking for his confession. He said that Ally poisoned her wife with arsenic. The thought of this constantly ran through your head. You knew it was a lie. You knew that Kai Anderson was a master manipulator and was somehow able to get into your head from beyond the grave. Ally could tell, too, that something was wrong. You were barely eating, getting such little sleep, and you showed her far less affection than you used to. She became concerned. You wanted to tell her, but you didn’t want to add to her plate, or make her angry.

One night you just couldn’t sleep, and instead lie awake on the edge of the bed. “(Y/N), what’s the matter? What are you doing awake?” Ally said as she stirred in the bed one night

“Nothing. I’m ok”

“You promise?”

“Yes, I’m fine.” you said. You allowed yourself to cuddle into her. Ally held you close to her. It felt so good that you decided to pretend everything was okay.

“I’ve missed this.”, you told Ally.

After this you started to force yourself to stop worrying, stop believing stupid lies and rumors. Typical (y/n), falling for anything anyone says. You always were quite gullible. Ally always protected you, and she loved her family more than anything. Between sweet moments with Ally and several SCUM meetings where you were being exposed to more and more, the you became less sensitive to this fear you felt of the woman you love.

Ally was away on business while you stayed with Oz. She would be getting back later in the evening, so you decided you wanted to cook dinner for your girlfriend to welcome her home. You didn’t cook much, Ally preferred to when she was home and Oz liked very simple foods, so you didn’t often find yourself, for example, searching through Ally’s expansive spice rack. Until you found a bottle that didn’t seem to belong. 

It was an arsenic bottle. And it was nearly empty. And the fear felt real again.

This slowly began to register on Ally’s face as well, which confirmed your fears even further.

“Oz, can (y/n) and I have a private conversation?”

So Oz left you two alone, and Ally began.

“What was in this bottle?”

You decided you had to confront her, no matter what the consequence would be. “It was- it was an arsenic bottle. It was almost empty. Tell me the truth Ally. Did- did you really poison your wife?” you managed to say, despite your fear of the woman you believed was your protector.

“I did. And I was going to tell you, I was. I was just waiting for the right time.”

“And when, exactly, would the time be right to tell your girlfriend that you murdered your ex-wife? When, huh?”

“You’re still so innocent and you don’t understand, (y/n), everything Ivy had done as a member of that cult.  Everything she did to me!” 

“And that justifies killing her? Your own wife?”

“You don’t get it, but you will understand someday, trust me.”

“But I thought you loved her. Ally... am I... am I next?” you said as your eyes began to fill with tears.

Ally looked at you as if she had just been slapped.

You began to cry. “Will you just get rid of me if something happens between us? I know too much about- I-”

“Stop, stop it (y/n)! Is that what this is about? Is that why you’ve been so distant with me for that whole time?”

You just nodded.

“Why didn’t you say something?”

“Why do you think?”

���Are you really that scared of me now?”

“You killed your wife! You were married, you had a nine year old kid together, you even worked together! I’m just some girl you’ve been fucking for a year, how could I be anywhere near that important to you, Ally?”

“Hey, first of all, you are not just “some girl I’ve been fucking” and you know it. You mean so much more to me than that. I love you more than I’ve ever loved any woman, do you understand that? But you have no idea how much Ivy hurt and humiliated me. Before I joined that cult she and the girl she was cheating on me with both wanted me either locked up for the rest of my life or dead so that they could take my son. I didn’t have another option.” Ally began to soften and lead you back to the bed to sit with her. “Believe me (y/n), I still regret it, every day. But it’s what I had to do. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, my love, I just didn’t want to scare you.” 

 “I know. I don’t quite understand, but I know. But Ally? I really know what you’re capable of now. And that scares me. And it scares me that despite knowing the danger, I still love you so fucking much.”

“But (y/n), you’re not in danger. I’m your protector, I have been since the beginning. Why would I ever even think to hurt you?”

“I don’t know. What about SCUM? What if I became some kind of liability to the gr-”

“I would protect you from them. You and Oz come before anything or anyone else.”

“Ally, I need you to promise me you’ll never hurt me.”

Your girlfriend put her arms around you and whispered, “I will never hurt you, (y/n). And I’ll protect you from anyone who tries. At any cost. You are safe with me, you always will be. I love you.”

“I believe you. I believe you, Ally. I can’t be without you anymore. I want things to go back to how they were. I’m sorry, Ally.” You rested your head on her shoulder and she gave you a kiss on your head.

“It’s okay, I understand. If I were in your position I would be suspicious too, but I promise that you truly have nothing to worry about. I’ll do anything to prove to you that you’re safe with me.”

That night the two of you began to make up. You went downstairs and ordered food (since you were never able to finish cooking) and assured Oz that everything was going to be ok. Luckily he didn’t overhear the conversation you and Ally were having.

The three of you had a relaxing night together, with dinner and a movie marathon, while Ally held onto you the whole time. The two of you put Oz to bed together.

“Mom, is (y/n) gonna be ok?” You heard Oz ask as you left.

“As long as I’m around she’ll be fine. Good night, Ozzy.”

Ally followed you into your bedroom.

“Is everything alright, my love?”

MM Book Review: Without A Compass by Helen Juliet

Oh boy, how much did I love this book.

All of Helen Juliet’s books have been the perfect way to relax after a long week, and so I have to admit I was genuinely looking forward to this one. I couldn’t wait to unwind with a story that I knew was going to have lovable characters and a truly heartwarming ending. And Without A Compass did not disappoint.

You have Riley Anderson, who is unashamedly not an outdoors guy (more on that later!), and Kai Brandt, his older brother’s best friend. Out at a family camping trip together, as the days go on, Kai begins to question his sexuality and his undeniable new feelings toward Riley, and the two of them learn to face each other honestly, admitting what they really want and need.

There were so many tiny details about this book that I loved, but the biggest one was just how strong Riley was as a person. He was completely out of his element--he doesn’t even pretend to enjoy camping--and yet he didn’t stumble along trying to suppress his personality or quietly imitate everyone else. Instead, (without giving anything away!) he was completely unashamed about his love for creature comforts, and he did things his own way.

Another detail I loved was the way Kai made mistakes (accidentally stereotyping or making assumptions based on ignorance), and these were corrected rather than let go or--often worse--used as drama fodder. Kai didn’t mean any harm by the things he said, but they’re the same stereotypes and assumptions that we’ve all heard before, and just reading them makes your stomach sink. To be able to read them and then have the author gently correct those assumptions was uplifting and cathartic.

Overall, Without A Compass was a sweet, emotional read with minimal angst and a lovely slow-build to their relationship. The characters were lovable and real, and there are lots of rich details to enjoy along the way as well as their mutual pining.

Molly discovers there is Sherlock Holmes RPF (Real Person Fiction) on the internet.  She’s shocked to find that someone called Sherlolly4vr74 has been writing fic about her and Sherlock, and they seem to have a dedicated fan base.  Some of the stories are very sweet and romantic, some of them are hot enough to give her NSFW ideas.  Who is Sherlolly4vr74 (Is it Anderson?  Mrs Hudson?  Mary?  John?  I bet it’s John.) and is Sherlock aware of the stories?  -  @darnedchild

Eurus has been known to put on a persona and disguise to get close to people for information – she was Faith for Sherlock, E and the psychiatrist for John.  What if she had also spent some time around Molly prior to the events at Sherrinford?  What information would she have gleaned about her brother and his pathologist?  -  @darnedchild

Because I feel Sherlock would not muck about, with telling Molly what he would like to do to her, he would not use cute little names, for all her female parts and would go into great detail, like all his cases. FX’s American Horror Story Season 7, Episode 10: “Charles (Manson) in Charge” Directed by Bradley Buecker Written by Brad Falchuk & Ryan Murphy

In the background, Kai (Evan Peters) types on the internet about the “dumb bitches” and then he rants to the ladies about their “precious Obummer” and the “early onset Parkinson‘s” Hillary supposedly has, though he does have a point: American doesn’t want a woman for POTUS, and not a “shrill cuck bitch.” Likewise, the girls realise Trump is all a product, or maybe a symptom, of the wounded male ego. Kai lashes out at one of them, slapping her in the face. Yikes. A couple weeks later, he’s sitting with Bebe Babbitt (Frances Conroy), who tells him of Anat, the Ancient Semitic goddess of love and war. He takes that as a sign of female irrationality, weakness, madness; typical patriarchal bullshit. He believes striking a woman is a political act. She talks about Valerie Solanas, then leaning him into politics. What’s her endgame? She claims she’s an “OG” feminist, yet believes Trump is amazing. Because he’s going to be the one to detonate the bomb of “feminine rage.” Bebe commits him to also hammering away at it, to help it explode. He’ll have to give himself over to it, his life, most likely. She uses feminism in quite an interesting way. Believing Kai and other men like him, the most horrible and influential, are a method of releasing the powerful rage of women everywhere. Unique, and dangerously compelling. People hate seeing Kai and his meathead militia on their various campuses and other public spaces. We see Mr. Anderson campaigning already for the senate, going for all the buzzwords, specifically “third trimester abortions,” which 85% of American men don’t understand. The typical nonsense of politicians emboldened today in the USA by the Donald. Kai and his denim dummies find protesters bearing down on them; he’s already gone paranoid, believing the Deep State is at work to take him down. Eventually, Kai gets maced right in the eyes. Luckily they’ve got white milk on hand! At home, Ally (Sarah Paulson) works away and pretends to be the dutiful female companion to Divine Ruler himself. She and Winter navigate their own personal troubles under his regime. Continually, Winter defers responsibility to everything else around her, particularly her brother. She gets more scared by the day, yet sticks around, no matter what ugly shit Kai does. We’re getting more “Story Time” with Divine Ruler. He’s prepared a tale about none other than Charles Manson, the Master. Skip back in time to see the crimes at Cielo Drive, where Tex Watson and the Manson family women, Sadie, Patricia, and Linda (played by Billy Eichner + Sarah Paulson, Leslie Grossman, & Billie Lourd) all engaged in the brutal, infamous murders most of us already know. We see the vicious murders recreated. Of course Kai gets around to the ideas of Helter Skelter from Manson, hoping to trigger a race war, blah, blah, blah. Therefore, the Divine Ruler decides they need to do something huge, far bigger than just one solitary pregnant woman: “The Night of a Thousand Tates.” Uh oh. “I‘m the Devil, and I‘ve come to do the Devil‘s business.”

Gary (Chaz Bono) and some meatheads go to Planned Parenthood, looking for a list of women seeking late term abortions. But inside, he’s by himself, and a bunch of the clowns arrive, surrounding him. Kai’s got other plans for his man. They all stab Gary to death, leaving him to be found the next day. All spun as an attack on pro-life patriotism by the group the Woke Warriors. Beverly (Adina Porter) reports, as she’s instructed, but later Winter tries to help her get away, getting her a ticket out of the city. Is it real? You can never tell with the sister. Bev takes it as a test, refusing to go. Things are getting weirder for Kai, he’s hallucinating his brother, Charles Manson, believing there are bugs planted by the federal government all over the house. There are a couple great, subtle references to the sitting POTUS, as it’s been throughout the season. However, now we’ve also got Charlie putting ideas in Kai’s head, telling him to “find the Judas,” which was, for him, Linda. She brought him down. Divine Ruler can’t let that happen, can he? Any coincidence Linda was played by Lourd, who plays Winter? Something bad’s gonna happen to the sister, I can feel it. Although it’s no good for any woman being around him. Except Ally, she plays to his paranoia; she brings him a supposed listening device she found. Then Bebe shows up, to slap the shit out of Kai. Lamenting the “walking abortion” that is the male gender. She doesn’t like how he’s been doing things, he’s fucking up. The female rage hasn’t been unleashed appropriately, not yet. He’s lost in power, and he’s pissed everybody off entirely. He calls her down to the dirt, her cause. Before she can shoot Kai, she gets a bullet through her own brain from Ally. Jeeeesus, she’s on a warpath this season, baby! Because she’s putting herself right at the core of the inner sanctum, making Divine Ruler too comfortable to notice her plan; the one thing Bebe forgot to do herself. Kai and Winter bond a bit, as she helps him shave his head and his face. They talk about knowing one another, the secrets, everything. Then he questions her loyalty. But she wonders about the people he surrounds himself with, what they truly mean in the grand scheme. She knows everyone will leave when they get what they want. She says she’ll always be there for him. So, is she truly loyal? Or is it a strategy? She admits things are difficult right now, that she needs distance for the moment. Yet he worries that her leaving will prompt others to do the same. Still, he agrees, so long as it means her ultimate loyalty. Nah. He’s discovered her disloyalty, trying to send Beverly away. Now the tables are turned on Winter. He interrogates her in front of everybody. He asks about the bug, and also another device in the ice cream truck. Ally’s pushing the narrative, whether or not it’s true. She’s getting revenge partly through Kai. Eerily brilliant, no? Let’s hope it doesn’t destroy her before she can finish Kai and his movement off. We do see some of the meatheads are involved, at least Speedwagon. Ally’s got some tricks up her sleeve. In the end, hallucinations of Manson urge Kai to kill his sister. And he strangles her to death on the floor. Another fantastic episode in the best American Horror Story season to date! Seriously, it’s so great. This episode, written by Falchuk and Murphy, is a great lead into the finale. Can’t wait to see what happens next. “Great Again” – aptly, relevantly titled to fit the rest of this season’s mould – comes to us next week. Be prepared for nastiness.
