This morning my husband was busy making coffee in the kitchen and he went to the fridge to get the milk.  Next thing I hear “Honey, where’s the milk? I swear we opened a new one yesterday.  Surely we didn’t go through a whole liter in one day?”.
I quickly went to the kitchen to rescue the situation, opened the fridge and there the milk was, staring right back at me.  I quickly grabbed it and gave it to him “Here you go”.
Husband:  “Where did you find it?”
Me:  “In the fridge, top shelf, right in front”.
Husband:  (looks at me in total disbelief).
I’m sure I’m not the only one that this has happened to.  Sound familiar?
Many times, we cannot see the things that are staring right at us – the solution to a problem, an opportunity we’ve been waiting for, etc. Why is this?
One could use the old adage “too close to the project”.  Yes, that’s true – but there’s so much more to consider.
Reason 1 – You’re way too stressed
It’s amazing the effect that stress has on you.  It causes sleeping and eating pattern changes, loss of focus, physiological effects, etc.
What this means is that you may struggle to focus and you will miss the opportunities that may lie in front of your eyes because you’re too focused on the source of your stress.
Lesson:  learn to manage your stress levels so that they don’t affect your progress in life.
Reason 2 – There’s too much going on
Modern life is really really busy and the pandemic has not helped at all.  Most of us who have jobs are doing more than one person’s work and those of us who do not have jobs have so much going on just trying to survive.
It is a well-known fact that we are exposed to more information in one day than our grandparents were in their entire lives.  And our “FOMO” (fear of missing out) drives us to know as much as possible just in case we might need that tidbit of information at a later stage.
Lesson:  de-clutter your activities and stop being busy being busy
Reason 3 – You’re way too distracted
There are so many things that can distract us in modern life.   That series on Netflix, that pesky game on your mobile phone.  Oh, and don’t forget social media.
Take a step back – do you really need all that distraction in your life?  I doubt it.  I’m not saying cut it out all together – rather, pay attention to how much time you spend on these activities and trim it down so that you have more time to do something productive.
Lesson:  limit your time on digital distraction and be disciplined about it.
Reason 4 – You don’t believe that there is a solution
You have no idea how common this is.  Most people can’t see the opportunities that lie in front of them because they don’t believe that they deserve them and they don’t believe that they can find a solution to improve their lives.
Limiting beliefs are holding people back from achieving amazing things!  We are all filled with inner magic and most of us cannot see our own potential.
Lesson:  work on eradicating your limiting beliefs.
CONCLUSION
Make a commitment to yourself today to work on the lessons learnt from this article.  You are amazing!  If you clear your mind from the clutter, de-stress, eliminate distraction and work on your limiting beliefs, you can accomplish amazing things and will find the solutions you are looking for.
Go for it – what are you waiting for?
Here’s something to think about:
“When you give yourself the gift of some morning peace away from your busyness, the hardwired capacity of every human brain to access the realm of pure genius becomes activated.” – Robin Sharma, The 5AM Club

Tumblr media
Hi!
I hope I can do credit to your needs. I've ss'd a portion of your ask so that others may also weigh in.
So I think I see that you want me to cover how I got into Jikook so you can compare our experiences or perhaps just how I came to my conclusion and some reassurance.
LOOKING FOR REPRESENTATION
1) Representation is important and I think that it's ok to look for people who can provide examples for how you want to experience something or in the development of your own dreams. As long as you can do it in a healthy way. Idolizing can be damaging because we don't know everything there is to know about a stranger and their lives and dramatizing their lives too much can lead to depression or anxiety in our own. That FOMO is real.
If it's not part of your community then I don't think it's wrong to want that representation to exist for altruistic reasons. It's not wrong to want the world to be a better and safer place FOR ALL OF US that need to live here. But people in those communities must be allowed to make their own choices; to be ready to be the leaders with certain issues and no one should be forced into a role they aren't ready or comfortable with. Altruistic needs really won't trump the needs for safety that individuals have.
I also think it's a completely normal part of human nature to speculate about other humans and relationships. It's how we relate in the world really. Tabloid magazines and tv shows and reality TV wouldn't be so popular if this wasn't the case.
You can look inside yourself and ask if you want a particular pair to be together because they look good or they have a good relationship, if it's something you can envision for them.....as opposed to kind of logically eliminating explanations for the things they do and arriving at a conclusion that's more possible than the rest.
FOCUSING ON JIKOOK
2) How I came across Jikook 🤔....not much differently than other jikook supporters I suppose. 🤷‍♀️ How do I distinguish what they do as being different than what other groups do or even being different than within their own group.....
I watch original content and I listen to what they say......and some of what I pick up is what they don't say. And truthfully they pinged my radar when Jimin did this:
Tumblr media
I had primarily watched music videos and run episodes when I first got into BTS. Was it fanservice or was someone using a technique they thought might work? And if they thought it would work, why? And the way JK just didn't react. If it was fanservice, shouldn't he have played the game? Said "no" or asked whose is better or asked JM to vote for his back? I chalked the body language as being flirty, but I couldn't stop from asking "why"?
Then I noticed a lack of flirty faces/body language to the other members when not doing something specific for the games. I clocked JM as having a preference for who he flirts with. Next step was to question...WHY?
Next step after that was to look for other content to see when he does it and why and if there were situations he'd do it to other members. I exclude fans because it's part of their job to be a little bit flirty, a lotta bit nice and polite, and funny with fans. And I mean that it could be considered part of their job in the way it's encouraged to draw in fans (was there absolutely a need to flash abs in any of their songs? No. But do we appreciate it? Yes! And would it draw in certain people as fans....? Yes, again.). Though I don't blame them for making us scream in concerts. We enjoy it as fans too. I don't think they'd do it if they didn't want to at this point. It's unnecessary as fans are more drawn in by their music, lyrics and personalities, and performance charisma now.
Tumblr media
But looking for additional content led me to other moments of theirs and...well..... Jimin had a crush on JK in their early years. Dude was vocal about it.
Tae also seemed to confirm this preference. It boggled my mind how the fandom brushed this off as brotherly behavior or fanservice. When someone says who they are, believe them!
All I have to say is confirmation bias is real.
Tumblr media
And motivated reasoning is where many in the shipping community fall: giving more weight to moments they want to believe in more than similar moments between other members. Or where the word "fanservice" comes into play to lessen the credibility of evidence against their desired conclusion. Truthfully all humans have to be mindful of these pitfalls in thought processing.
I approached, not from the angle of confirming that I thought they were dating, but looking at what was presented in front of me objectively and coming up with various explanations for WHY they would do/say/exhibit things and behaviors: looking at JM asking for dates and kisses consistently and Tae talking about JM liking men and how jikook were too busy hanging out together to do vlives with him, and how jikook and other members confirmed in their discussions that jikook hang out together, A LOT outside of working moments....and then we have the leaks of them ice skating, eating meals together, hanging out with each other's friends, greeting each other's friends at award/music shows....PLUS them seeming to participate in SK couple culture - celebrating dates, wearing matching clothes, and what looked like matching rings, JK carrying wallets, shoes, bags, etc for JM, first snow video, gifting snow to JM because he loves it, JK only giving JM a birthday gift, JK being able to drop honorifics, but JM and JK not calling each other chingus (friend), JK paying for Tokyo for JM and making GCF...using Troye Sivan's song that is clearly a gay love song, JK seemingly admitting to having a crush on RM (dude likes men), but also never running out of compliments for JM, being together on romantic holidays, JM flying back to SK for JK's birthday, celebrating Billboard hot 100 announcement together because it was also JK's birthday...and AGAIN, when Tae said come to mine, JM declined because he was with JK. Here's the thing, if they were in the dorm, JM could have stayed in his bedroom. He didn't need to come to the couch to do all those phone call until he woke JK up with the news. Unless he didn't want to disturb somebody who was sleeping in the room as well. Lastly, the protective tone they take with each other (sometimes against the other members), and the scolding JK does with JM, who is older.
Notice I'm not saying "it's how they look at each other" though I'm not oblivious, I'm also not in their heads or bodies to know better if they're staring at lips and imagining things or simply staring off and thinking about food. I'm not talking about their skinship either. They have friendly relationships with everyone in the group and they all lack the boundaries I'm more familiar with in my western culture. I'm also not insensible to how RoseBowl looked to people (it was an ear suck) or the fact that last Oct 2019 Seoul concert ended up with such overt tones of homoromanticism that the company was mass emailed ordering jikook to be separated and their actions closely regulated to prevent future similar actions.
Tumblr media
I went through possible explanations for the things I observed:
Explanations: a) they're heterosexual b) they're just friends c) they're bestest, best, blood brothers d) they're having sex e) they're boyfriends f) they hate each other g) they're dating other people
a) I can eliminate because JM admitted to wanting to date JK, JK admitted to crushing on Joon, and Tae spilled the beans about JM liking men.
b) JM has a preference for wanting to hang out with his friends - so he's wanted to choose Tae for some run games, will cook with Tae on trips, hang out with his friends and go on trips with them outside of work...and won't share them, but yet, JK is sometimes there, and greets JM's friends as well. And the other members.... don't. 🤔 But JM has a chingu in BTS and yet he's often been with JK instead - so I can elevate the level of closeness from just friends to something more intense because he has a friend in BTS and doesn't act the same way with Tae as he does with JK.
Tumblr media
c) They're not brothers and they're definitely closer than friends....and JM has been asking for kisses...which you wouldn't do with a brother. And...there's definitely more "friendship" or "brother" leaning songs JK could have edited with GCF Tokyo if that was the message he wanted to convey. Hence this option can be eliminated. GCF Saipan came after and what I found in you is so real...another romantic song purposely edited where JM appeared with the same lyrics. JK really wanted to emphasize his point by doing it twice.
d) they get a little intense from time to time, JM gets close like he's been there before, and there's a comfort JK has around JM's various body parts and a trust JM has with being handled by JK that...in my eye, is pretty damn familiar. Can I ever confirm this....NOPE! NOT AT ALL! But I can't eliminate it either.
Tumblr media
e) The couple culture they seemingly participate in as well as the care they pay to each other and the softness they sometimes get with each other....and the grooming! My goodness they pay attention to each other so often! Fixing hair, checking out outfits, make up, watching themselves and each other for mistakes to help each other (nothing malicious here) with performances. And...yeah....that JM tattoo. It's permanent, it's on the hand, it's a statement.
(grooming 👇👇👇)
So I can't eliminate explanation e either.
f) these men hang out together so often OUTSIDE of work as much as together at work that this is dead on it's face. They talk about the admiration they have for each other often too. It's the dumbest thing anyone can think. Go to therapy if this is what you think.
Tumblr media
g) could it be possible they're in an open relationship? I suppose so. I don't really view either of them as being jealous. Could they be together between other relationships....again..I suppose it's possible. I don't know them personally and I don't follow them around or buy sasaeng info. I don't know if that's the type of thing that could cause upheaval in the group. The communication would need to be extremely strong and consistent to make a relationship like this work. I can't eliminate it based on what I've seen. I may personally believe this isn't as likely as them being boyfriends, but I don't have anything that tells me it isn't possible definitively. Yes, they're both romantic, and have focused on having one partner in previous interviews...but it's still a remote possibility that they could have changed their minds or could maybe want male and female partners. Bisexuality isn't out of the realm of possibilities. They both like men, but have talked about females before as well. They couldn't really talk about it in interviews either if this was the way they thought.
In my head this is 2% or less of a possibility. They seem to be very devoted to each other, but celebrity marriages have high divorce rates too. 🤷‍♀️ And the truth is that you can know people and be close with them and STILL not know everything about them.
Tumblr media
But all these explanations I can't eliminate lead me to the conclusion that they're together in some way, shape or form. Things keep happening that seem to confirm this hypothesis that they're together as well.
When "hickey" and "kiss mark" trended in the US and SK they both came online and posted. They weren't the members that came online to post randomly (before their IG accounts) at the time...but they both posted, no show, concert, award event, nothing...just their posts. They both had the opportunity to see trends or have friends see trends and contact them. It's too coincidental. And the other things that happened were JM's birthday when he started to call JK dongsaeng and switched to calling him maknae...as if he knows of the controversy with dongsaeng being translated directly to "younger brother" instead of "younger male" in the fandom and when they both had their concert shout out moments "So What!" to the haters and "I don't like that" about scripted fanservice. Now this (especially after the anti discourse about /childsleeping/)! They seemingly know about things discussed in the fandom (RM has mentioned friends telling him things too and Hobi using fan edits...please they see it all). They're connected. And we shouldn't forget that for even a second. But the couple culture participation and modification of some behaviors, comfort with each other beyond what they do with other members, and how privy they are to each other's lives outside of work, is what makes me think it's (way) more likely they're boyfriends than that what they have is purely sexual or an open relationship.
THE OTHER GROUP
3) I wouldn't think Jikook are together if they acted like the rest of the group members together. I also wouldn't think so without all the words they've provided for us. ....and all the times they've been caught in each other's rooms (but trying to hide it). And the MY PARK FILTER cake....pls JK or JM always giving the game away 🤦‍♀️ or the other members.
All that to say I don't know this particular group you refer to or what they've been up to. I do know a little bit about human behavior. There are definitely things we do to feel connected to others. It's not really wrong. It's not stupid (you're not stupid). It can sweep you up and grab hold of your brain in ways you can't recognize. It can be addictive without you realizing it! 😲 But I can say that engaging that feel-good emotional side without also engaging the logical parts will leave you blind to all sorts of biased thinking patterns: deciding on a theory and only looking for the evidence that confirms what you feel instead of considering all the facts of the situation.
Things to consider about the two idols: what was the translation and how many different translations were there? Did translators add or remove context? Have the members said things that indicate they aren't joking? Have other members said anything to indicate what level of closeness they have? Are they often spotted out together? How integrated do their lives appear outside of work? Have they (or other members) indicated in any way, shape, or form their sexuality? Do they do things for/with each other that go above what they do for/with other members? Do they have specific and special moments reserved just for them? Do they engage in couple culture as it's done in SK?
Skinship and looks are so subjective and even body language experts don't always agree on what certain people are thinking or doing just by reading their body language. To me that is not a reliable method for deciding that something is progressing or not towards a relationship. I'm not the idols. I'm not inside their heads or hearts to really know what they're thinking or feeling.
I know Hyuna and eDawn were rumored to be dating before they were exposed. They had flirty moments and she would call him her dongsaeng. They are a heterosexual couple though and had the privilege of not having their actions misconstrued by wider society or being able to hide behind the guise of "brotherly" skinship.
Even if LGBTQ+ are in higher represented numbers in entertainment than the general population, there are still cultural barriers the rest of us would need to learn or unlearn in order to apply the appropriate understandings to their actions.
Even jikook saw a gradual shift in how they communicated with each other and there were cultural cues picked up that made people start to think they were more than friends.
I also can't really speak to the other companies and their management style. Yeri of Red Velvet said something about SM where it's in the contract and she has to do it about something she seemingly didn't want to do. And then Blackpink members always talk about wanting to make music, but their company doesn't put them in the studio that much I guess? And then BigHit had an article done about their management style. It's very mentor based. They've been able to make their mistakes and learn from them. I don't think we would've gotten Jimin asking Jungkook out on dates otherwise. 👀 But it's true that different companies have different expectations and requirements for their idols. It's definitely something to keep in mind.
Without knowing more specifics I can't do a thought experiment and breakdown. Sorry if this section is more general. 😓
You can always message me the group name and what was said and some videos if you want my breakdown of the moment.
I hope this was helpful! Sorry it was so long!!!
A cute thread for fun! 💜

Do you have a fear of missing out on your goals?
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
We’ve all heard of the phrase FOMO (anxiety that you’re missing out on an exciting event), but what about FOMOG? FOMOG refers to the fear of missing out on goals for example: “I’m going to get a promotion this year”, “by June I’m going to have the perfect abs” or perhaps you’ve simply told yourself “in 2019 I’m going to be less stressed” – Starting to sound relatable?
We live in a world where everybody’s achievements are on public display, perfectionism is praised and office workers do an extra 17 hours a month ‘just to be seen.’ With everyone stepping their game up a gear, the fear of not achieving your goals can become even more terrifying, because lets face it, nobody wants to be a failure right? Our experts are here to help you set achievable stepping-stones for the following goals...
Before we start… What do you want?
Isabella Venour, London Coach and Founder of Mind-Style (www.mind-style.com) explains, “It’s easy to compare ourselves with others, especially when we get stuck scrolling through social media and get a brief snapshot of someone else’s life - their gorgeous holiday destination, their funny night out with friends and their booming business or career.”
“Trying to focus on all the things you want to be, do and have in your life can leave you feeling overwhelmed. To help it feel more manageable, write down all your goals (so that they literally start to become a reality) and the date by which you’d love to achieve them. Decide on which one you want to prioritise and break that down into chunks, identifying which of those chunks you can focus on first. Then decide, over the next week or two, what one thing you can do that will get you a step closer to achieving that goal.”
Top tip: “We often know what we don’t want in life, so spend some time thinking about what you do want and watch how your mind starts looking for and finding solutions.” Goal: I want a great summer bod
I know it sounds cliché, but at one point or another, we’ve all said to ourselves, “this is the year I’m going to feel great in body.” Then one fad diet later – we give up. “Diets don’t work. It doesn’t matter what kind of diet it is – whether it’s high protein, high fibre, low carb, low fat, alkaline, paleo or a juice fast  - they all end the same way. Yes you might lose weight in the short-term but harsh diets or faddy regimes simply aren’t sustainable. The moment you quit, you will put on all the weight you lost and often more besides,” explains the UK’s leading Nutritionist, Dr Marilyn Glenville (www.marilynglenville.com).
Top Tip: “The key to long-term weight loss is by changing your eating patterns and lifestyle. Yes it will be gradual, but it will stay off and you will feel wonderful. If you makehealth your goal rather than just inch loss, your whole perspective and relationship with food will change.” For more information on why diets don’t work and what you can do that does, get yourself a copy of Natural Alternatives to Dieting (£9.97, Amazon).
Goal: I want to be a success
Whether your goal is to get your dream job, a promotion or a pay rise, first things first, sleep. “Sleep is the foundation for an energetic and productive work day. Avoid screen time 1-2 hours before bed, and enjoy calming teas such as valerian root or lemon balm for a more restful nights sleep,” advises London’s Leading Nutritionist Lily Soutter (www.lilysoutternutrition.com). This will be much more beneficial than staying an extra 17 hours at work a month ‘just to be seen’.
Goal: I want to gain more knowledge
In order to acquire as much knowledge as possible we need to have the energy to not only motivate ourselves but also to retain and regurgitate the information. A huge chunk of our energy comes from our diet. Nutritionist Fiona Lawson, working in collaboration with itsu, the healthy Asian-inspired food chain, recommends snacking on seaweed. “From Japanese nori to Welsh laverbread, seaweed is a delicacy that’s been enjoyed for thousands of years. This special type of algae contains virtually all of the minerals that are found in the ocean. These minerals are essential for many bodily functions, but especially when it comes to supporting energy levels. Iodine, for example, is vital for thyroid function. Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland found in your neck. It may be small, but it plays a huge role in governing your metabolism and thus affects how vibrant you feel. Another valuable mineral found in seaweed is iron. This enables our red blood cells to carry oxygen all around our body, which is essential for keeping us bright, alert and full of vitality.”
“Seaweed also contains several B vitamins, such as riboflavin and pantothenic acid. The body uses these to help us break down our food effectively, enabling us to derive as much energy from our meals and snacks as possible. By selecting nutrient-rich meals and snacks, such as itsu’s Crispy Seaweed Thins (£1, Available Nationwide at Tesco), you are taking powerful steps to support your wellbeing.”
Goal: I want to gain confidence
Have you turned the big 40 and noticed a dip in your confidence? “From around the age of 40 your body will start preparing for the menopause. As these changes happen, it is not unusual for some women to think that they are going ‘crazy’ during this time, and it is important to know that these symptoms are common and that you can do something about them. The sorts of symptoms you may start to experience include physical symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats, lack of sex drive, tiredness, weight gain, vaginal dryness, drier skin and hair, joint pains, hair loss, headaches and psychological ones such as depression, mood swings, forgetfulness, lack of concentration, loss of confidence and self-esteem, anxiety and tearfulness. Make sure you are eating healthily and get your blood sugar in balance, because being on the blood sugar roller coaster can make these hormone fluctuations feel worse and will make you feel less confident, more anxious and irritable. This means not only thinking about the quality of the food that you eat but also the timing. You need to completely eliminate added sugar and refined carbohydrates and reduce caffeine in order to see a marked improvement in your confidence and mood generally,” explains Dr Marilyn Glenville.
Goal: I want to save
Many of us would like to save a little extra, whether that's for a wedding, house, car or a holiday. Overtime is great but think about things that you could do everyday to save an extra pound here and there. Did you know that you can save money and reduce waste by making your fresh food last longer?
Lily Soutter shares her top tips:
“Brush an avocado with lemon juice or olive oil once cut open to stop browning.”
“Freeze fresh herbs by chopping them up with garlic and mix with butter salt and pepper, roll into a log shape and wrap in cling film. You can then cut off chunks and use them on meat and fish to add flavour.”
“Store your fruit and veg separately – some fruits such as apple and banana can promote ripening in other fruits”
“Keep lettuce or salad leaves and fresh herbs in a Tupper-ware with dry paper towel to absorb their moisture and prevent them going off”
“Don’t wash your veggies before putting them in the fridge. Keeping it whole (not chopped up will also help this as less enzyme browning will occur)”
“Store asparagus upright in a glass of water to help them stay crisp”
Goal: I want to be less stressed
85% of UK adults are experiencing stress on a regular basis. Maintaining positive thoughts and feelings is easier when you have a little helping hand for those daily stressors.
The Hemp hype is the new generation of natural relief. The Natures Plus “HempCeutix is an extraordinary range that uses the lastest generation technology to produce life-changing products, explains Nutritionist at Natures Plus (www.naturesplus.co.uk), Martina Della Vedova. “HempCeutix Stress (£48.25, www.planetorganic.com) includes 5mg of complete hemp phytocannabinoids per serving. Phytocannabinoids are natural substances found in cannabis sativa plants. When we absorb them, they interact with our nervous system, brain and immune system. They do this by helping to increase the activity of natural chemicals produced in our own body known as endocannabinoids (note that despite the name, endocannabinoids themselves are not from cannabis – they were simply named after it). How to Drive Sales with These 11 Instagram Marketing Strategies
In today’s competitive landscape, your business needs to leverage as many distribution channels as possible to increase sales.
By now, I’m sure you understand the basic concepts of applying a social media marketing strategy.
You’ve created business profiles on the most popular networks. You’re sharing content on a regular basis. Your efforts have helped you get more followers.
But you’ve got to elevate your game and learn how to convert your social media followers into customers.
According to research, 74% of consumers use social media to guide their buying decisions. And 71% of people are more likely to buy something based on a social media recommendation.
Simply put, consumers are eager and willing to use social platforms to find new brands, conduct research, and aid the purchase process.
As a marketer, you need to recognize the latest social media trends and use them to your advantage.
Instagram is the fastest growing social media platform. This social network makes it very easy, friendly, and appealing for brands to reach their target audiences.
Take advantage of everything Instagram has to offer. I’ll show you the top 11 ways to drive sales on Instagram.
1. Run contests and giveaways
Promotional contests and giveaways are two of my favorite strategies for brands to engage with their audiences on social media.
If you can learn how to run a profitable giveaway, your efforts will result in more sales.
I know what some of you are thinking. How can you make money by just giving away your products?
Let’s review an example to show you what I mean. Here’s a look at how Lander used this strategy on a recent Instagram post:
The company is giving away a smart lantern, power bank, phone case, and lightning cable.
Doing this increases the exposure of its page. It gives people a reason to follow its profile and engage with the brand.
As you can see, this giveaway is a bit different from the ones you may have seen in the past. Lander partnered with other brands to sponsor this giveaway.
Again, this strategy will drive more users to its page. These other accounts will post information about the giveaway and direct users to follow Lander’s profile to win.
Here’s a look at the caption from one of the other accounts it partnered with:
There are plenty of other ways to get creative with this marketing tactic.
Instead of giving away items at random to your followers simply for liking a post and following your account, you could run a more structured contest that requires skill.
Contests that encourage user-generated content are the most effective.
To enter, ask your followers to upload a picture and tag your brand. This strategy will expose your company to anyone who follows the users who enter.
If someone sees that their friend is promoting a brand, they’ll be more inclined to follow your profile and potentially enter the contest as well.
Now that you’ve got these users interested in your products, you can use other strategies to get them to buy. Even if they didn’t win the contest, the product you were giving away is still on their minds.
2. Take advantage of the “swipe up” feature
The swipe up feature is a game-changer for businesses.
For years, you probably had some trouble getting users on Instagram to navigate to your website from a specific link. You would post content and then direct people to click a link in your bio.
But that strategy has lots of faults.
First, it’s an extra step for the user. They have to navigate to your profile page and then make another click.
People don’t want to go through that hassle.
Plus, what if you want to promote two different landing pages? Or maybe three? or four?
You will not have multiple links in your bio. That’s too confusing.
The swipe up feature eliminates this problem. Now you can use your Instagram story to drive traffic directly to specific landing pages.
Here are a couple of examples:
Once your business profile reaches 10k followers, you’ll have access to this feature.
Just promote a product or service on your story, and add the swipe up function with a link to a landing page about your promotion.
If you’re advertising a specific product, a logical landing page would be to the product description on your site. There, the user can look at additional photos and add the product to their shopping cart.
These lead magnets are a great way for you to drive more traffic to your website and ultimately increase conversions.
3. Use shoppable posts
If you have an ecommerce brand, you need to take advantage of shoppable posts.
This strategy allows you to sell products directly through the Instagram platform.
The reason why I love this feature so much is because it increases the chances of getting your current and prospective customers to buy something. Here’s why.
Right now, you’re relying on consumers navigating to your website to buy your products.
This can be from organic traffic, paid ads, or direct navigation.
The problem is that people probably won’t do this every day. But they’re active on Instagram daily.
In fact, 500 million people use Instagram on a daily basis. So there’s a great chance your target market falls into this category.
Here’s an example of a shoppable post from Patara Shoes:
It’s simple. This post is just a regular image that includes one of the brand’s products.
You also see a tag of the product by name, the price, and a link to purchase it. All someone has to do is click on the tag, and they’ll be directed to the website.
This is much easier than having to manually search for the product by opening a web browser. Shoppable posts increase conversions.
Check out the caption. It’s creating FOMO—the fear of missing out. I’ve discussed this strategy in the past.
Telling users they have only a few pairs of these shoes left nudges them to buy right now.
If you’ve never sold products on Instagram before and don’t know where to start, check out my complete guide on how to increase your ecommerce product sales with shoppable posts on Instagram.
4. Post the same product more than once
If you post a product once and then never promote it again, people may forget about it.
Think about the way users behave on Instagram. They quickly scroll through their feeds.
The first time they see your product, they may not have a reason to buy it. But if they see it more than once, it may start to pique their interest.
According to a study from Sprout Social, more than 60% of people need to see something on social media between two and four times before they buy it:
I’m not saying you should post the exact same image four different times on your Instagram page. That’s boring and might even cause people to unfollow you.
Get creative.
Start with a post of just the product. A few days later, you can share another image of the product on your Instagram story.
The following week, run a contest to promote the same product. Weeks later, you can share a video of the same item being used in a demonstration.
Posting the same product multiple times increases the chances of people buying it.
5. Partner with social influencers
Using social influencers to promote your brand, products, and services is an extremely efficient tactic.
In fact, 94% of marketers say their social influencer strategy was effective for their companies.
That’s because social influencer followers trust them.
We know that 82% of people are likely to follow recommendations made by micro influencers. And 94% of consumers believe these influencers are highly knowledgeable.
Basically, if you can get an influencer to promote your brand, you will get sales.
Instagram is the primary social platform for influencers across the globe.
This is a cost-effective marketing strategy.
Most influencers will charge only a few hundred dollars or so for a post. However, if you’d rather work with celebrity influencers, be prepared to spend significantly more.
But for the most part, that’s not necessary.
I recommend looking for influencers who have between 10k and 50k followers. These people have more authentic interactions with their followers and higher engagement rates.
Plus, the cost per post will be less.
If you’re struggling to find the right influencer to promote your brand, review the top 10 platforms for effectively managing social influencers.
6. Respond to comments and messages
I know it may seem like a time-consuming and tedious task, but you need to respond to your followers on Instagram.
By responding directly to comments on your post, you will add a human element and personal feel to your brand, which people really appreciate.
This strategy is especially important if people are asking questions or voicing complaints about your business. Respond to these comments as fast as possible to come up with a resolution.
It shows other users who see your responses on social media that your brand values customer service.
Consumers are willing to pay more for good service. You can expect to see an increase in sales by communicating with your customers effectively on social media.
7. Go live
The majority of the strategies I’ve discussed so far focus on Instagram posts. But that’s not the only way you can reach users and drive sales.
Like other social networks, Instagram has a live broadcast feature.
This is your chance to engage with your audience in real time.
Users can comment on your broadcast. Acknowledge those comments. Answer their questions. Show them you’re listening.
Social media users love watching live videos.
What’s a good reason to go live?
That decision is yours. But there are lots of different ways to get creative with these streams.
Give your followers a tour around your office. Introduce them to your employees. Show them how products get made at your manufacturing facility.
If your company is at an event, give your followers exclusive access to what happens behind the scenes.
This type of content will keep your audience engaged, get them excited about your brand, and ultimately increase the chances they’ll make a purchase.
8. Run targeted ads
How can you reach people on Instagram who don’t follow your account?
Some of the strategies, such as location tagging, running contests, and working with social influencers can accomplish this.
However, those strategies don’t always expose your brand to people within your target market. Running targeted advertisements will do this.
Instagram has been acquired by Facebook. You can set up your ads the same way on both networks.
You can use parameters such as age, gender, and location to select your ad audience. You can even take that one step further and target users based on their interests.
Here’s an example of a targeted Instagram ad from Tentree:
As you can see, this post looks like any other post on Instagram. The only difference is that it says “sponsored” where the location tag would normally be, and there is a CTA button at the bottom.
But when a user is scrolling through their feed, this post blends in with the rest of the content they’re consuming. It’s not invasive or annoying.
Yes, you’ll have to pay if you want to run Instagram ads. Those of you who don’t have the funds in your marketing budget for this right now would want to stick with the free strategies on this list.
However, if you can afford it, I recommend at least trying it out to see how it works for you. This can be a great way to drive sales by reaching a new audience.
9. Use your story to showcase products
Earlier I mentioned examples of posting content to your Instagram story.
But now you can use your Instagram story to sell your products the same way you did with shoppable posts.
As of June 12, 2018, Instagram brought the shopping feature to stories.
Here’s a look at an example from Madewell:
As you can see, the post is promoting a silk button-down cami.
Since the shopping feature on stories is new, the post features additional text as a way to tell the users the post is clickable.
If you tap on the button as instructed, you’ll be redirected to the brand’s website. From here, you’ll have an option to buy the product displayed in the story:
Use this strategy if you’re running an ecommerce shop.
As I said before, people need to see a product multiple times on social media before they decide to buy it. Add shoppable stories to the list of ways to showcase your products.
10. Connect your followers to your Facebook page
If your company has an Instagram profile, it probably also has a Facebook page.
Since Instagram was acquired by Facebook, these two platforms have lots of features that work together. I mentioned this earlier when I talked about running targeted ads.
Now you can sync your Instagram followers with your Facebook business page.
Once this process is complete, you can use messenger bots to nurture those users.
There are more than 300,000 active monthly bots on Facebook messenger. Clearly, other businesses are taking advantage of this strategy already.
Jump on board now before your competitors’ bots steal your customers.
11. Offer discounts to your followers
Everyone loves a good deal.
Share discounts with your followers on Instagram to encourage them to buy.
Instagram is a great platform for running flash sales. Since your story disappears after 24 hours, you can use that type of post to share a promo code.
This will make your followers feel as if they’re getting an offer other people don’t know about. That feeling of exclusivity will also encourage them to buy.
Look at how J. Crew offered a discount in this post:
Notice anything different about this post?
The reason why I used this as an example is because it also uses another strategy I discussed on this list. This is a targeted advertisement.
Don’t think your promo codes should be limited to just your profile posts and stories.
Combining that deal with a targeted ad can be extremely effective. That’s because your ads will have CTA buttons bringing users directly to your website.
If someone clicks on the “shop now” button in the J. Crew ad, they’ll be able to use the promo code right away. This is much easier than having to navigate to a new window.
Conclusion
You can’t rely on website traffic alone to sell products. Take advantage of other distribution channels as well.
Social media influences consumers’ purchasing decisions.
Since Instagram is growing at such a rapid rate, it makes sense to use this platform as a primary method of driving sales.
Plus, as you’ve seen from this list, Instagram has features that allow businesses to sell items directly through its platform.
If your Instagram marketing strategy needs improvement, refer to this guide.
Once you implement these strategies, it will be easier to generate sales from Instagram users.

5 Big Marketing Stunts That Worked and What We Can Learn From Them
A big marketing stunt has the potential to either make or break your business.

Why being disruptive can be a good thing when it comes to your brand

Bonus: Get the step-by-step social media strategy guide with pro tips on how to grow your social media presence.
IHOP
With one of the most talked about marketing stunts of 2018, IHOP showed they were more than just a pancake palace.
It all started on June 4th, 2018, when IHOP tweeted that they’d be flipping the ‘P’ around and changing their name to IHOb. They announced that everyone would have to wait to find out what the ‘b’ stood for—something that immediately got everyone guessing.
For 60 pancakin’ years, we’ve been IHOP. Now, we’re flippin’ our name to IHOb. Find out what it could b on 6.11.18. #IHOb pic.twitter.com/evSxKV3QmT
— IHOP (@IHOP) June 4, 2018
After days of speculation, IHOP(b?) announced that the ‘b’ stood for burgers. Thanks to this campaign, IHOP not only got people associating burgers with their name—seeing word of mouth rise from 19 to 30 percent—but saw their social media popularity skyrocket.
How can your brand follow IHOP’s path to success?
Do your research. You can’t just launch a potentially risky campaign out of nowhere. Before making their Twitter announcement, IHOP discovered that social media conversations about pancakes had declined, while the popularity of burgers was steadily increasing. Find out what your customers are talking about online and highlight ways your business can fulfill their needs.
Build suspense. IHOP’s first Twitter announcement asked their audience to stay tuned to find out what the mysterious ‘b’ stood for. This lent an air of speculation to the campaign and it became an engaging guessing game for the audience. Your brand can easily do this with a marketing campaign.
SodaStream
SodaStream’s CEO Daniel Birnbaum says “the company is always looking for disruptive ways to create moments of joy.” They definitely succeeded with their 2018 April Fool’s Day campaign.
This marketing stunt had Game of Thrones star Thor “The Mountain” Bjornsson and Shahs of Sunset star Reza Farahan introduce SodaStream’s (fake) new product, the SodaSoak—a sparkling water maker for the bathtub.
“The thing about SodaStream’s campaigns is that they address important themes in a lighthearted and funny way that keeps a finger on the pulse of pop culture,” Bjornsson explains. The approach paid off, with AdWeek reporting “this video reached many top April Fool’s lists and gained brand exposure worth many millions.”
What can your brand do to get on SodaStream’s level?
Delight and surprise your audience. By making their commercial in classic infomercial style, there might have been a moment where SodaStream’s audience questioned whether what they were seeing was real. It’s always fun to give your audience something they’re not expecting, so take any opportunity to surprise them with strategic whimsy.
Recognize key dates. SodaStream’s campaign was for April Fool’s Day, but there are key dates and celebrations happening almost every day of the year. When relevant, align your campaign to one of these dates and have fun with it.
Highlight your product. Even though the SodaSoak isn’t real, the parody still presented the key capabilities of SodaStream’s actual product. Even when watching a spoof, the audience was reminded that the SodaStream is able to carbonate plain tap water. In all the excitement of creating a fun campaign, don’t lose sight of what makes your product or service unique.
KFC
If any brand can prove that weird works, it’s KFC. Their marketing stunts have been wonderfully outlandish over the last few years, and it’s a formula that works for the brand.
One of their more out-there campaigns featured a four-hour Facebook Live stream of adoptable kittens climbing on a “fabric husk of a towering model of the brand’s mascot and founder Colonel Sanders.”
While you might have scoffed if an employee pitched an idea like this in a meeting, more than one-million viewers tuned in to KFC’s kitties.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = 'https://ift.tt/2v7IXSn'; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));
Colonel Sanders Cat Climber
If enough of you share, we might add more kittens.
Posted by Super Deluxe on Tuesday, July 17, 2018
How can you create a goldmine campaign like KFC?
Brand everything. Whether it’s an ad apologizing for a chicken shortage or a cat tower livestream, KFC knows that putting their brand first and foremost works. Awareness and recall are key to your business’ growth.Make sure you use any opportunity to bring your unique brand into all of your content and marketing assets.
Embrace the weird. While actually running a bizarre campaign like KFC’s might not be possible for all brands, every business can embrace a quirkier approach to campaigns. Add a dash of whimsy to your campaigns where relevant. If you can’t share silly content (say you’re a political organization or serious government branch), you can have fun in your brainstorms, strategy sessions, or at other states of campaign development. For example, ask everyone in your brainstorm to come up with the weirdest, most outlandish idea they can—there are no bad ideas. Sometimes the best “real” ideas can come out of a free-for-all. And the worst case scenario is that your team has a laugh.
Patagonia
While brands are usually advised to avoid politics, the response to Patagonia’s politically-inspired marketing stunt was so positive it crashed their site.
After the President of the United States signed two proclamations to greatly reduce protected land in the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments in Utah, Patagonia responded with images and messages reading ‘The President Stole Your Land’ on their website and social feed.
This is the largest elimination of protected land in American history. Take Action: https://t.co/biZPxo7PHh#BearsEars pic.twitter.com/OqW9FHPk3Q
— Patagonia (@patagonia) December 4, 2017
What can your brand do to reach Patagonia’s level of success?
Know your audience. Patagonia knows that their target customer has environmentally-friendly and eco-conscious values. The company donates a percentage of its revenue to environmental causes, uses recycled, “Fair Trade” certified in its clothing, and uses solar energy at its company headquarters. Figure out who your own brand’s target audience is, and align your actions to their values.
Provide a clear call-to-action. While it would have been easy for Patagonia to post their ad and call it a day, they provide a button encouraging their audience to ‘Take Action Now.’ This leads to a page where visitors can sign a petition and send a pre-written tweet defending public lands. When you are launching a social media campaign of any risk level, include a CTA so your audience knows exactly what you want from them. Check out this blog post from AdEspresso for 31 clever CTA ideas.
Burger King
When it comes to brands tackling important issues, Burger King might not be the first company you think of. However, the fast-food restaurant proved they’re more than capable of getting people’s attention with their Whopper Neutrality stunt.
The campaign had customers ordering Whopper burgers, but receiving them at different times based on how much they were willing to pay. As AdWeek explains, this “was a scathing parallel for how the end of net neutrality could create fast and slow lanes for internet access.” It became their most shared ad of all time with more than 4.5 million Youtube views alone.
What lessons from Burger King’s campaign can your brand put into action?
Combine education and humor. Net neutrality is a complicated issue, but Burger King was able to explain the effects in terms anyone can understand. By making the message accessible to all—as well as humorous—they are providing crucial education for their audience. Consider how your brand can educate your target customers in a relevant way, and centre a campaign around these lessons.
Appeal to your customers’ emotions. Any viewer of Burger King’s ad is sent on an emotional roller coaster. From feeling empathy towards the customers in the video and frustration on their behalf, to experiencing laughter, to fear when the reality of net neutrality being repealed sets in, the content evokes plenty of emotion. Emotions play a crucial role in our ability to recall information, so they’re a powerful part of many successful ad campaigns. Think about how you can stir up emotion in your audience, whether that’s through humor, love, happiness, or plain old FOMO. Our blog post, Social Media and Psychology: 4 Things Marketers Need to Know, shares more ideas for including emotion in your campaigns.
Any marketing stunt has the power to strengthen—or sink—your brand. As long as you follow the lead of the successful brands above and know what you’re doing, your risk can definitely pay off.

How to invest like a Marine sniper
'You dumb pig!! Exactly what the hell do you believe you're doing!?'
My sniper instructor shouted in my face after I had ID 'd as well as fired a target on the stalk lane, all while remaining hidden.
The beratement confused me. I had simply effectively finished a stalk street, and on one of my first attempts at Marine sniper institution too.
This was not an easy thing to do. Luckily, I had lots of time to ponder my instructor's 'comments' as I did push-ups in a full ghillie match with my rifle and gear strapped on my back.
I'll discuss a few of these sniper terms so you can recognize the gist of what I'm talking about here.
Pig: A non-flattering word hurled at those lowly residue training to end up being precursor snipers. It's an acronym: Properly Advised Grunt (PORKER). Those in training hope to graduate sniper institution as well as end up being HOG's, which represents Hunter of Gunmen.
Stalk: At its the majority of fundamental degree, stalking is the art of movement. It's when a sniper moves into location, occasionally very close to his target, with the intent of removal while preventing detection. A stalk lane is merely a location of area a sniper is permitted to move in during a military exercise. It's normally a kilometer long and perhaps a hundred yards or two in size. The sniper begins at the other end of both his target as well as viewers (the instructors with extents attempting to detect him) and after that strolls, crawls, and worms himself to within 200 meters of his target to take a shot. The goal throughout the workout is to prevent discovery by the viewers. It's an extremely hard activity as well as is the main factor why most fall short sniper school.
Ghillie suit: The ghillie fit is the bush-like suit that you see snipers use in movies. It helps camouflage our movement.
While doing my push-ups in my piss soaked ghillie (you can be on the stalk lane for hrs and also it's not like you can just stand up to go to the shower room ...) my instructor asked me if I recognized what I had done.
I said 'yes, I effectively finished the stalk lane as well as got rid of the target without being endangered'.
To that he reacted 'wow, you actually are a dim-witted window licker. Yes, you removed your target without being compromised ... yet you rushed your shot.
By doing so, you lowered your possibilities of creating an eliminating hit, while elevating your opportunities of being subjected. As well as in a combat scenario, this suggests you elevated your chance of failing your mission as well as obtaining killed.'
This made good sense to me and I hurried to speak up to allow my teacher know that I understood. As I opened my mouth he yelled 'close your damn c *** holster porker! I'm refrained breaking an egg of understanding over your unworthy pathetic grape (marine represent head).' I nodded in the affirmative.
'Listen.' he claimed. 'If you ever before make it as a sniper as well as obtain released on a live objective, you are going to be swamped with a variety of feelings. Anxiety, enjoyment, hope, adrenaline, they're all visiting be surging with your capillaries. This is regular. The risk is that you allow these affect your choice making.
Maybe you conjecture before you've completely doped out the target. Or perhaps you shoot when you don't have a great visual. You can not let this happen. Amateurs rush as well as Marine scout snipers are not beginners. You should run with a separated equipment effectiveness.
You have to exercise boundless persistence. You need to accept the sniper motto of 'endure silently, silently experience.'
The concept of exercising unlimited perseverance made good sense to me. Regrettably, it took a bunch of pain and suffering and also much more months of getting surged in my ghillie suit before the importance of this concept totally sank in as well as I began to practice it diligently. That knowledge wound up conserving my life greater than a few times in the future during my deployments.
In sniping, I discovered the fine art of patience and also ended up being a master of it. I would await days at once, letting the ideal shot develop, never ever compeling it. I let my intuition tell me when the time was right.
Many years later, well after my career as a sniper, I needed to relearn this fine art of endless patience. The process was no much less excruciating (though in various terms) and also I was simply as reluctant as before to totally adopt and practice the wisdom. Yet this time around around, instead of being equipped with a rifle, I had my computer system. And my bullets were my uninvested capital, which I appeared hellbent on shooting off at the first semi-attractive profession I saw.
For years I lost money on dumb trades that I need to have never put on. Or I entered way too early, just to obtain cleaned before the stock ran like Usain Bolt.
My complete absence of determination didn't just eliminate me through bad entries and also bad professions either. It likewise reduced my earnings when I lastly did capture a champion due to the fact that I would certainly consistently go out considerably also quickly. I likewise missed out on good chances due to the fact that I didn't have any kind of dry powder left after all my various other substandard professions (all my resources was linked up).
The famous investor Jesse Livermore as soon as famously stated:
'As well as right below let me state one point: After spending years in Wall Road as well as after making as well as losing countless bucks I desire to inform you this: It never ever was my thinking that made the big cash for me. It was always my resting. Got that? My standing by!'
Infinite Patience is the name of the game. Absolutely exercising this is impossible for most. The feelings produced by markets are simply too persuasive. They influence decision production and typically trigger tragic results. As my teacher would certainly claim 'this is just what beginners do'.
The reality is, to go from amateur to pro, as well as to accept endless patience in investing, you have to go through large amounts of discomfort. I do not see otherwise around it. You're going to have to shed money and also make bad professions over as well as over once more. At some point, the discomfort sears itself deeply enough right into your mindful to leave a mark as a constant reminder.
Paul Tudor Jones, among the biggest fund managers to life, has actually stated that he will not hire investors that have not knowledgeable significant losses. He sees the encounter as a needed ceremony of passage that infuses a sub-conscious regard for funding. It cultivates excellent habits.
One of the toughest parts for me was experiencing from a solid emotional fear of losing out (FOMO). I dislike missing good trades. This desire still stays, but I have actually developed policies as well as tracts that I comply with which prevent me from trading quickly. I diligently follow this tract since I have actually been hurt numerous times by my own stupidity.
Now ... I love waiting. I love sitting patiently as well as waiting for a trade to establish, never rushing. I allow rate tell me when the ideal time to enter is and when it's a great time to take some off the table. I take complete satisfaction in the mastery I have actually obtained over my very own dumb tendencies and also bad habits.
Just like when I was a sniper, I hang around and wait and wait. I watch faithfully. I allow the trade pertained to me, recognizing complete well that if I miss this, there's one more that'll be merely as excellent right nearby. And after that when the moment is ideal and also the trade occurs perfectly in my sights, I draw the trigger.

The need to just resume is enough to drive you crazy.
it will throw you off the identity game. who am I? never have I felt so close to death and fear and real life.
It was the up and down and feels manic and depressive. and little sensation of independence and getting over it feels like such a win that you start acting pompous, ridiculous, menacing...
you try to force the grief out of you and that never works, it just cases way more pain. You try to grasp at anything that gives you some sort of grounding, whether that be pain, depression, you latch onto It because feeling nothing or being truly alone in the dark sounds way worse.
after you eliminate the routines and patterns, then it feels weirdly like smooth sailing, only you’re not used to seeing the sun so you’re squinting. A long moment of numbness, depression and time goes by.
You still don’t want to move on however though you know there’s no turning back either. your’e still in the dark stage and now you know you actually have to move, take steps.
Once you see the sun again and see that some time has passed, you want to get back up again right away and get back to routines. some of the routines are familiar yet don’t feel right. how do you possibly move on? so you think this will just be a normal additional feeling you experience with these routines. so you accept it knowing that it sucks but what’s the use if it all sucks anyways? It feels like a forced, passive acceptance.
You’ll drop off the routines again and truly just feel like you’re floating around. Finally you go with the flow even if that flow sucks and feels ego and identity and soul crushing. All the people that look like they’re having fun no longer bother you. You wonder why they are out at all? It’s not longer fomo, just all of the same, over and over, like you can see the cycles of life happening before you only you’re not anticipating when to drop back in. you’re just accepting.
a few times you’ll try again. you’ll try to create new patterns and routines and emotions and motivations but they all just feel like copies and forms of the old stuff. so it doesn’t stick and doesn’t feel like life. just more of the same dull stuff numbing you out.
finally, whether it be a sunny morning, a song, a new picture, a laugh, or a friend.. or a night spent alone, when you realize how funny you are or how much time you have to do nothing!... it will hit you. your life is yours. your voice returns and that space you take up in between your chest, your heart, and the outside world. it’s there again. the space of yours. and you relish in it. the silence and long time spent just relishing in it. like a teenager claiming her independence for the first time on a drive, on a Friday night, after her first alcohol party. every song you now listen to, not fill in but truly listen to, give it space to tell it’s story, again and again and again, all the time is yours.
you realize day after day after day will yours. spent just like this. over and over again. no longer able to return to what was, the reactions, the effects, the causes... and finally, you think of all the things you can do! all the ways you can live over and over, and there is no rush of time, because it’s yours. your pace and your time.
