“Alcaraz lost the first set and it looks like he’s losing even the second.It looks bad for him and since it’s only a 3 sets ATP he can’t catch up on the game so easily.Wondering how he’ll do in wimbledon if he plays like this” Says the commenter, in fact he’s not playing well,he knows it and he can’t stand it. Finally you get to the court and you start going towards the seat reserved for you in the front seats, next to Juanki and his team.Finally Juanki sees you and welcomes you next to him.

La Pluie Deserves a Standing Ovation

I hope y’all didn’t think I’d forgotten about this show after the finale. I was just traveling and have been too busy to write this final review.

La Pluie has been one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had as a viewer of TV ever. This show told us exactly what it was from the very opening scenes, and then spent the entire show paying that off. This show opened with an explanation about soulmates, and then immediately countered that with Tai’s parents’ divorce, the note that the pairing of people is ultra-rare, and a happy couple that wasn’t a soulmate pair in a café. Throughout the show it repeatedly stressed that love is about how we treat each other and not something you win via a lottery. It’s so rare these days that we get a show that trusts their audience this much to follow the thread and think about the big ideas along the way.

Doubt and Faith in Acts

One of my favorite things I observed in the show is that only Patts and Tien consistently make the kinds of choices that lead to long-term love without getting their asses handed to them. @shortpplfedup observed during her catch up that this story featured four different kinds of believers: an apostate, an agnostic, a believer, and an atheist. It’s notable that the apostate (Tai) and the atheist (Lomfon) are the ones causing the most harm to other people in the way they treat others.

Throughout the show, both Tai and Lomfon keep making standoffish choices. Tai has cut off his mom and avoids his coworkers. Lomfon is rude and standoffish. Neither of them is able to hold on to their loves because they are incapable of letting go of their own bullshit.

Conversely, Tien goes out of his way to take care of his brother, his family, and eventually Lomfon. I actually liked that Tai and Lomfon had to make opposite choices in the finale. Lomfon needed to show in his actions that he was serious about Tien, whereas Tai needed to show in his words that he was actually listening to what Patts had been asking for.

For Patts, he doesn’t believe that he and Saengtai are meant to be together because they’re connected by the rain. He does the work of caring for Tai because he is kind. He loves Tai because he’s Tai and not because he’s his soulmate. Patts stays present for Tai. He respects his boundaries. He tries to help Tai deal with his problems. He trusts him.

The Ambiguity

As a lapsed Catholic, I gotta say that I really love the way this show ended without fixing all of the soulmate stuff and giving concrete answers. I like that the show holds firm to its conviction that love is not ordained by the narrative; it is something built by people doing the work to be together. I love how this show challenged the notion of the narrative itself mandating the characters be together and instead reminded them (and us) to be present for our loved ones and to listen to their needs.

I think this show would have been weaker if Tai and Patts had restored their rain connection at the end. Besides, I think it gives them room to play with that idea if they get a second season. I also liked that Tien started hearing someone at the end of the season. He is a believer in soulmates, and I think it’ll be interesting to see someone as earnest as him face that challenge.

Releasing the Tension

Before I get to wrapping up, I want to reiterate again that this show has two plot-relevant blowjobs in it. So often these shows tease us and then don’t release the tension. Worse, when they do release the tension it doesn’t always feel like it’s something the characters lean into with their new dynamic.

After episode 5 ended, @ginnymoonbeam teased me for having a moment of panic that maybe I was misreading the show and that somehow Patts wasn’t into Saengtai because of how often I’ve been tricked or teased. Instead, these two end up making out on the floor and Patts was going to blow that man. Then, we don’t cut away from them. We watch them talk about what happened and why Tai is holding back.

Going further, they let Patts and Tai find peace and closure with Nara. Moreover, they treat Nara’s heartbreak seriously. She isn’t ejected from the group, and is allowed to be disappointed and sad about the loss. At the end of the show, they also confirm our suspicions about her and Dream.

It’s just incredible to have watched a show that didn’t rely on teasing us and instead treated the sex and intimacy seriously.

I cannot overstate how much joy I got from watching this show along with all of you. When @lurkingshan and I began writing earnestly around episode 4 in the hopes that more people would join us on this show, I did not expect so many of you to actually give it a try.

I think, if you have held off on watching this show because you’ve been waiting for confirmation about one plot point or another, just watch it if you’re still on the fence. When you do watch it, try to let go of what you think is supposed to happen or what you want to happen, and instead respond to what the show is giving you. This has been the most legible show at this caliber I’ve experienced since I Told Sunset About You (2020).

At no point did this show try to trick us about anything, and it trusts us to keep up and engage. This show is better when you lean in. It’s better when you discuss it with others. For a show so much about questioning belief, it is amazing how much this show rewards you for believing in it. I don’t know a better show this year.

The day had lasted forever, and he had been unable to spare even a minute to escape from his post at a more decent hour. He had to be in so many interrogations, and had grown more irritable the longer they went on.

It was now past midnight, he confirmed with a wry glance to his wristwatch. Valentine's Day had come and gone, and he was now mentally ready to grovel at her feet for forgiveness.

His wife deserved so much better than spending Valentine's Day without her husband there to spoil her rotten, like she deserved.

A soft music interrupted his train of thought with a screech, and he stepped into the living room, where the candlelight illuminated a lavishly set table I'm the middle of the room.

"Bienvenido a casa, Señor Vargas,(1)" his wife cooed, and he followed her voice until he finally spotted her by the staircase. His mouth hung open in shock, eating her up with his stare. She looked absolutely ravishing, the cocktail dress hugging her figure deliciously, "tienes hambre, mi amor?(2)"

Alejandro had to shake himself out of his stupor, and force himself to pull his thoughts in order, before he decidedly stepped up to her, an apology ready in his lips.

"Mi vida, cielito mío, lo siento tanto, yo-(3)" he was interrupted by soft, creamy lips sealing his own chapped ones shut, and Alejandro let out a groan. He never liked to be interrupted, but would never mind it if it was done like this, by her - only by her.

His hands found her waist and pulled her closer, hoping to pour every possible apology into every move of his lips. She pulled away, however, and chuckled softly when he pursued her. Her hands cupped his cheeks with a tenderness he was still getting used to after so many years in the army, and her eyes searched his in the dim light, shining like jewels.

"I know, mi amor, and I understand," she hummed softly, stroking his stubble and placing a soft kiss on his chin, "that's why I prepared this, and waited for you," she pulled his face lower, her lips leaving butterfly kisses on his cheeks, his nose, his lips again, "siempre que vuelvas a mí, esperaré toda la vida si es necesario.(4)"

IIn addition to all these thoughts, I was mostly focused on the only thing and that i was wondering about whether the number 6 is doing okay, how is he coping with all of this.

After a while Hector came home, taking slow steps towards me and then fastening his walk taking a turn to his room, still not saying a word to each other. The next thing i heard was the gurgling of my bowels, I realised I didn't eat so I made us both dinner, I knocked on his door feeling numb all of a sudden.

I felt like the house was spinning but everything remained calm.

He didn't end up opening his room door, instead he texted "Tengo partido mañana, tienes que venir, alguien te necesita" which he invited me to watch him and his team mates play. The last part of the sentence sounded like someone out there needed me. The next day happened pretty quickly, it was the same but with intense more stage fright because of the game. The questions about number 6 were going through my mind obviously I was worried. When we got there, a lot of fans started to bang on the tinted glass window, sending me death treats, saying something like that I don't deserve him, I ruined his career...etc

those words pierced my soul, my voice became wobbly and I remained silent once again the world won. After a while they went somewhere else and I managed to get out of the car without getting hurt I mean physically, mentally I'm already pretty much hurt.

On my way to the gate I was hurrying, i didnt look where i go just suddenly my face gets on someone's chest, his scent was incredibly good, and while looking up, I see no one but the brown haired boy, Pablo I said to myself.And this is the moment when I experienced falling in love for the second time each again for the same person. We both smiled and I immediately apologised for ruining his shirt since all of my makeup was pressed against him. he didn't even have time to address me, a bunch of fans with ogeom signs were running towards us. He didn't even wait a bit, he pulled my hand and we ran for a while of course from them, when they finally lost sight of us, we found ourselves behind a small blunt bush that was nearby. I was breathing very loudly, skipping a heartbeat, the next thing I remember is our lips pressed together, at that moment I felt our sparks blooming. He slowly pulled out looking right into my eyes and saying "I'm going in again so don't be surprised when I do this" he pulled in and I can say there was intimacy in hesitance, hovering hands above my cheeks prodding the statement I let out a single nod. The next thing I saw was Pablo on the field laying in pain, holding back his screams while his arm Is pressed on his mouth, as the noises were trying to escape he didn't let them win, my heart began to ache, not like the ache you feel between your eyes or the ache in a tooth when u have cavity, my heart aches likes there's one million people tearing at its most tender places, I started to panic, then I sinked seeing first aid as they carry him from the field. without any hesitation i rushed towards him, pushing thousands of people to get through. Please Pablo say something, are you okay!?

It's going to be fine okay!! I kept saying that. I pressed myself against him and I held him in my arms tightly never planning of letting go "am I hurting you Pablo" I asked with a shaky drabbled voice.

I glanced at the game and noticed Hector and the other Barcelona players looking carefully at the cart, they clearly couldn't focus on the match. I saw Pablo glancing at them too back an forth. Minutes after his team mate and also one of my Friends Ferran scores and dedicates the goal to Gavi, pablo saw all this because the cart was facing the field, he slightly sends out a beautiful smile , full of spark and longing.

Three weeks passed by, I haven't heard of Gavi since he got injured, but somewhere on the news I read that he is back on the field. Plus me and Hector are still on weird conversations. My main questions are, is he doing okay, and when will I see him again. Wondering when will our eyes meet and create a magnificent bond that can't be expressed through words. I still replay our kiss in my head, over and over again, making it seem like a movie with no ending, the movie that you recommend everyone to go search for it. But that's really not the only thing that I should be worrying about I literally have an event, slightly bigger one though so I have to carry on with the look. Later that day, I sat by the closet, constantly looking for that one dress, I was about to give up but suddenly something sparkly chatched my eye, if it is what I think it is then yeah I found it. After hours of trying, I  finally found it! The dress was long with refined zircons around the neckline, in simple words it looked like it came out of a fairy tale, she had long sleeves and a set of gloves of the same color and material. I'm so excited to wear it! Naive me thinking nothing can possibly go wrong until... That day came, I entered the event with a straight head and a confident walk, I walked on the red carpet without looking from the side until, meanwhile, the cameras started rolling and the person I most wanted to see appeared at the door of the event. Pablo, it's him. It was the same thing that the cameramen repeated after every step he took, man he looked powerful. After some time spent, a journalist started questioning me about my and Gavi's so-called relationship, I kept silent while my heart wanted to explode, it had so much words to say but didn't.

Basically he ignored me the whole time, he didn't dare even to look at me. What a jerk, said this to comfort myself.

The Pain, I never expressed it potentially, I never screamed and jumped about it, never bawled and wept but the pain I felt was still. My heart was aching but never too loud, no one ever heard, I didn't allow anyone to, it itched and felt numb inside of me but in reality, it never went away. His smile was permanently plastered inside of my mind, the moment, too short but never enough to go out. But now it's 2:45 am, instead of sleeping I'm trying to find the words to explain how my world looks without you in it. Pablo, its like i became allergic to that name,or was I just tired of missing it? 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐁𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐔𝐄𝐃...

So I was watching the new La Pluie episode and seeing everyone’s reactions and it finally hit me as to why I love Tai and his narrative so much.

The narrative is allowing him to make the worst, the most ugly choice, but more than that. It is letting him be unlikeable. Especially in a non traditional way.

The most memorable non likeable protagonist to me is Emma Woodhouse from Emma (I think I also might have Austen on the brain from Step By Step don’t judge me). She is vain and arrogant and generally doesn’t listen to a lot of people until she has finally alienated so many people in her life that she is forced to stop and to ask herself, “am I the problem here?” When she realizes the answer is yes, she goes about at least attempting to improve. She apologizes to the people she’s hurt, trying to be more humble and learn more humility and to generally be a better person. She is not the most amazing person by the end, but she is better and she will continue to work on herself the further in life she gets.

I see a similar thing happening to Saengtai. While he is not rude or vain or arrogant (hence non traditional unlikability) but he is that guy who will just, not say anything. He is the person who will ghosts his kind of ex because he doesn’t know how to start the hard conversation. He can’t help but make a lot of things about himself and his struggles and his problems, even when they’re not. I mean, he holds a grudge against his mother for 2 years about the divorce and her getting remarried but never bothers to attempt to ask her about anything, about how she feels about the divorce or her remarriage. He is selfish and self cantered and conflict avoidant to fault. He feeds into Tien’s belief that his feelings don’t matter by never noticing when his brother is struggling, up to and including Tien’s feelings for Lomfon. Again this might be unintentional but it is no less selfish.

I really love that about his character. That he is allowed to act that way without being portrayed as the bad guy or the villain. He is now being afforded the opportunity to grow and reflect upon himself. He starts that this episode with apologizing to Tien and having that open discussion with his parents and brother. His parents had to start the conversation because of how much they left out of their initial explanation of their divorce to their children but it is still proves to be a learning opportunity for him and I believe Tien as well. I don’t mind this as I think it would be good (though a little cliche and trope-y) for Tai’s big attempt at communicating and communicating effectively be with Patts (I love cliches and tropes and I’m not sorry about it haha). His parents know and understand in the way that Tai thinks Patts should already and are thus able to better understand and predict what Tai is upset about and what he needs to talk about the most. Patts however, has no such ability.

I’m almost hoping that Tai’s first attempt kind of fails as no attempt at a conversation is perfect and miscommunication happens, so it’s important it make sure you try and again and again, especially when you know the other person is as important to you as Patts is to Tai. Plus Patts deserves to have Tai fight for him. He’s been through so much and I think it would go a long way for Patts to be able to see that Tai isn’t going to give up when his first try goes badly.

I also really liked his meeting with Lomfon. Perhaps not the ending, but I don’t blame him for Patts’s reaction either. Tai had no reason to believe that Patts would show up. He just wanted to clear the air with Lomfon and offer his support and friendship. Both Lomfon and Tai are in a very similar position to one another so it’s no surprise to me that Tai finds it the easiest to talk with him and forgive him.

I can’t wait to see Tai develop even more next episode. He is taking responsibility for his actions, for what he is has said and what he hasn’t. I also hope that he will continue to work on it through the episode. This show’s writing has been on point this entire time and so I’m really hoping for a good ending that ties everything together.

Unsung/Underappreciated Heroes of the Android Saga

These are the characters I feel don't get enough recognition in the narrative (or even fandom) for their actions in the android and cell saga.

Future Bulma

I think Trunks is praised more by other characters for piloting the time machine and saving the timeline than Future Bulma is for designing and building it. Especially considering the dire circumstances. I honestly don't remember Future Bulma being talked about much for her miraculous feat. I have been watching a ton of clips lately and my memory is still blank. Also, this woman is a great mom! She raised Trunks very well :)

Present Bulma

She made the remote that could have ended the cell saga before things got worse. However, Krillin literally stomped all over her hard work when he decided to simp for 18.

Piccolo

Goku may be the best fighter but Piccolo is the leader. He was the one who relayed the information about the androids to the others. He was the one leading the effort against Imperfect Cell. He was the one who fought the best out of the Z fighters against the Cell Jrs. Even better than Vegeta and Trunks. And rallied Tien and Yamcha to defend Goku. I don't think Piccolo is acknowledged enough for being the voice of reason on the team.

Tien Shinhan

Forget the epic tri beam against Semi-Perfect Cell. This man deserves some credit for going to help Piccolo even though he stood no chance against the androids. Good thing he was there otherwise 18 would have been Cell food way sooner. What a role model!

And now...the true MVP of the Cell games. The person who arguably helped Gohan more than Goku or Piccolo ever did in that battle...I present to you...

ANDROID SIXTEEN 👑

Android 16 deserved the world. He is the only one to jump in to help Gohan. Granted Piccolo and Goku were about to as well. But he did not have to have a dad quarrel first before he took action! And he helped Gohan to unleash his potential. Unlike Goku who just threw Gohan to the wolves and misunderstood the nature of his son's power, 16 was able to connect with Gohan calmly on an emotional level. He understood Gohan's gentle nature and urged him to use his power to protect people. A true MVP. Too bad Gohan likely destroyed his processor chip during his power-up :(. 16 you left us too soon...

DOES TENSHINHAN REALLY TRAIN ALL THE TIME?

The short answer... "NO." The long answer...

DRAGON BALL Z:

In the Cell Saga, Tenshinhan had expressed multiple times that he felt useless. In fact, the guy who many in the DB fandom inaccurately claim trains non-stop actually lost confidence in himself so much so that Tien even REJECTED training in the RoSaT.

Tien could've gotten 1 year's worth of training in 1 day, yet he straight up refused. That alone proves that Tien DOES NOT train all the time like a Saiyan as so many people suggest. They are misinformed or willfully ignorant.

After Goku died, Tien felt depressed & lost some motovation to train (others felt depressed as well). He told his friends that they would probably never see him again. Then, he disappeared for 7 years & only reappeared briefly during the Buu Saga.

Why was Tien absent during majority of the Buu Saga?

Why did Tien choose to stay out of the 3 day battle until the very last moment while being fully aware of the situation from day 1 due to Babidi's telepathy?

TENSHINHAN WAS DEPRESSED & many fans fail to realize this. Tien even calls himself "USELESS" again in the Buu Saga. Tien did not want to join the fight because he had lost his fighting spirit. So, what exactly was Tenshinhan doing during the 7 year time-skip? Well, Toriyama actually tells us what Tenshinhan was doing...

TORIYAMA INTERVIEW:

Toriyama explains in an interview that in addition to Tenshinhan's training, he mostly farms & Chaozu helps him. (Even Yamcha occasionally stops by to help out when he isn't being a freelance bodyguard.)

And when you examine Toriyama's words closely, he says that "[Lunch] wasn't cut out for farming, and Tenshinhan has no interest in romance, so she left after a few days." Lunch was last mentioned to be chasing after Tenshinhan at the begining of the Saiyan Saga. This implies that Tien had actually been farming at some point soon after the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai if not sooner.

Not to mention that "mostly farms" means that Tien does other things too.

Tenshinhan DOES NOT constantly train as many fans falsely claim. The only ones who Toriyama said train all the time are Goku, Vegeta, & Piccolo. And the series supports this statement.

DRAGON BALL SUPER:

The Resurrection F manga & the 7th ending for DBS reaffirm Toriyama's statements that Tenshinhan & Chaozu are indeed farmers.

Furthermore, we are shown in DBS EP 89 that Tenshinhan has also opened his own dojo & is teaching advanced martial arts to 12 students (+ Yurin later).

CONCLUSION

The notion that Tenshinhan trains all the time is purely fan conjecture that is taken as gospel.

Tien has been farming for at the least since the begining of DBZ.

Tien started a martial arts school at some point after the Universe 6 vs Universe 7 Tournament.

Many in the DB fandom don't fact check most statements made in the fandom. Then, they end up believing and regurgitating misinformation. So, HERE ARE THE FACTS! For those of us who know that Tien DOES NOT constantly train, this post/images/links can be used as evidence during disputes & discussions.

I'm tired of this fandom spewing inaccuracies as truth without getting checked. And many falsely claim that Tien trains all the time in order to make the argument that Tien deserved to be the strongest Earthling instead of Krillin & so that others believe the misinformation. They attempt to use Krillin as some sort of stepping stone with false information, but these fans do so at the expense of Tien's character development that they conveniently overlook.

If your feelings aren't validated by facts, then you are wrong. Once you are corrected, you are now right. If you want to be right, often times you have to be corrected.

It appears that Toriyama revealed that Tenshinhan was a farmer soon after the Freeza Saga when Freeza came to Earth. Tenshinhan & Chaozu were shown in a mountainous area while wearing clothing that resembles a Chinese winter farmer's attire along with some sort of carrying bag tied around their torso that they store their winter crops in. Not to mention that Trunks arrived in the past during a winter month, so them wearing winter farming attire makes sense given we know they are farmers. {I'm open to being corrected on this nugget of info if needed because I don't have extensive knowledge of historical Chinese attire.}

TENSHINHAN, CHAOZU, YAMCHA, & KRILLIN: They are still marital artists at heart, but there was 7 yrs of peace. If there was no enemy to fight, doesn't retiring from fighting make sense? Although, their retirement was only temporary as we saw in DBS. People hate on Krillin & Yamcha for retiring, yet forget that Tien and Chaozu retired too. All had good reasons to retire, but they all still did some form of martial arts during their retirement even if it wasn't anything too extreme; Krillin training with his wife & being a legal crime fighter without using weapons against armed criminals. Tien & Chaozu training & farming & later starting a martial arts school. Yamcha being a freelance bodyguard & occasionally helping Tien and Chaozu farm (possibly training with them occasionally too).

With Tien being depressed after the Cell Games, it makes sense why Launch still visited him from time to time even if he didn't want a romantic relationship with her. She was another friend to help him out.

Light On Me: The only good love triangle I ever saw and one of the only ones that actually made me believe that a poly ending could work in canon.

Happy Ending Romance: I am not as emotional about this one, but I do remember watching and thinking why can't he just date both?

Oh My Assistent: Same as above

Gen Y: Mark-Kit-Wayo: LAST BUT NOT LEAST! I am so mad about this, it was right there. All the peaces laid out, Wayo deserved it. And so did I Damn It!! I have been wanting to see the actors that play Wayo and Mark play a ship together since I watched the first 2 Moons and thought that they had super great chemistry.

Regarding the La Pluie one, the one in the linked post, I did thought about it, but I think it's not the right drama for it.

Not just because I want Tien to be happy. Even though I really do!! But also because I feel like this would go against what the show is trying to say with the soulmate plot.

If there was another character that had scene with Tien and that could filled the role of a secondary love interest then maybe it could work but as it, I don't really want it, even though I do see it, don't get me wrong.

Anyway suggestiongs of more dramas are welcomed. I for one have a few that are less missed oppurtunities and more like "There's An Idea" poly ships. If you guys want to read that list is:

Not Me: Gram-Black-Todd (I love this one - but Black is also really shippable, I am following a Black-Yok fic with great pleasure)

Until We Meet Again: Read two fics about the two couples dating each other or having a "one night stand" of sorts and thought the idea was neat.

Bad Buddy: I never went there but I know there are fics with a poly relationship between Pat/Pran and either Wai or Korn (or both). Not too mention the fics the Our Skyy 2 crossover most certantly brought about.

History 4 Clost To You: When I first watched it I had a moment during the first scene where I imagined the plot of the drama to be Ten and Li Cheng competing for Xing Si affection with a poly ending and I fell in love with the idea.

Where you are know as one of the best prodigy on the Barcelona female team. One day, they host a Barcelona event for the male and female team, to which you get really drunk and end up having a make out session with predi. However, what you don’t realize is that you guys were recorded and was later posted on the internet making it a huge scandal. But in an interview Pedri decided to defend your name saying “I can’t kiss my girlfriend” you may end it with a fluff and/or smut where they both end up together.

Claudia clung to me as we walked inside of Spotify Camp Nou. As usual, ranting about how mean people could be on twitter, and how no one had respect female football players. I was used to it, having learned to ignore the comments, but from the minute she had seen me step out of my car, to the minute we walked onto the field after dropping our stuff and getting dressed, it seemed to be the main topic of interest of hers. “Es tan estupido! Solo por que somos mujeres, no quiere decir que no merecemos el mismo respeto que el equipo de futbol de hombres!” (Its stupid, just because we’re women, does not mean we don’t deserve the same amount of respect as the guys) 

After finishing her long rant with a sigh, and placing my water bottle on the bench, I responded to her rant. “Clau, entiendo tu enojo, pero solo tienes que esperar, y ver los comentarios buenos. Aun punto aprendes a ignorar la gente.” (Clau, I understand your anger, but just try to look at the positive comments. At one point you’ll learn to ignore people) That seemed to blow off Claudia, because she rolled her eyes, walking off to Keira, while mumbling something about how “of course miss prodigy wouldn’t understand.” 

It was true, I wouldn’t lie, I was known as somewhat of a prodigy, after having earned the ballon d’or two times in a row, I had a pretty large fanbase, however a lot of hard work came with the title of “best female football player” I began on my stretches, while attempting to make small talk with Alexia, but there seemed to be one thing on my mind. Pedri Gonzales. FC Barcelona’s popular central midfielder. I’d spoken to him before, but only a few words were exchanged, and he had reposted my story, congratulating him for being Barca’s golden boy, but other than a few spared glances, we were nothing to each to other.  

Practice was long. Really long, after angering Claudia, and Alexia walking away after realizing I was in my own world not paying a bit of attention to the conversation I had started, it was boring. And awfully exhausting, yet coach decided making us suffer with extra sprints was a great idea, because we had lost last week's game. “Una cosa más chicas! Mañana vamos a tener una cena con el equipo de varones, quiero que todas estén ahi. Tu también y/n, si consideras la idea de no ir, te tendre corriendo hasta que se te caigan las piernas.” (one more thing ladies, tomorrow we will be having a dinner party with the guys, and I want all of you to be there. Especially you y/n, if you even consider the thought of not going, I promise you I will have you sprinting until your legs fall off.) No way I actually have to show my face at that. 

The next evening…

My hair had been done in waves, and I looked in the mirror reconsidering going, (yes I was testing the wrath of my coach) as I straightened up my dress. A black mini dress, with long sleeves, form fitting, not too much, but not too little. Finally, I took in a breath, grabbing my clutch from my makeup vanity, and exiting the makeup room. I grabbed my keys from the small dish on my counter, before exiting and locking the door behind me, seeing Claudia’s car outside. As I got in, I sank into my thoughts once again, not even noticing when we got to Camp Nou. As I walked in, I was greeted by the girls on the team, but also saw the boys. Gavi was the first to say hello. He was a sweet boy of course, only a year younger than me. He was always congratulating me on my wins, supporting me, a truly great friend with a big heart. “Y/n! Llegaste, ¡qué bueno verte! Ven a decirle hola a los demás, estarán felices de conocerte!” (Y/n, it’s so good to see you, come say hi to the rest, they’ll be excited to meet you!) 

I followed Gavi, greeting everyone, but only one caught my eye. Pedri of course. He walked over to me, greeting me and congratulating me for being nominated for the ballon d’or once again, saying something else I didn’t quite catch, to distracted admiring him. He pressed a kiss to my cheek, a common greeting of course, but still causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach. I could’ve kept speaking to him, had Xavi not called all of us over to eat. 

The whole dinner I felt Pedro's eyes on me. When we all finished, conversations through the whole table, Robert brought out a few bottles of wine. Gavi, being underage, began to frown, before Robert noticed and chuckled saying, “No to preocupes Gavi, traje algo para ti tambien.” (don’t worry Gavi, I brought something for you too) pulling out a bottle of sparkling grape juice for Gavi. The boys face lit up, causing laughs to erupt throughout the table. 

A few glasses of wine, 11 shots later, I got pulled into a room with Pedri, also as drunk as I was, maybe even more, his cheeks blushed from how drunk he was. “There’s something I’ve wanted to do this whole night.” “oh yeah?” “mhm.” He leaned in, kissing me, his lips lightly chapped, but I didn’t care. The kiss got more and more passionate, his tongue inside my mouth, he moaned into the kiss. My hands were in his hair, we were unaware of anything that was going on, in our own world. There were lights and flashes all around us, but we ignored it assuming it was from the party outside. 

The next day.

I woke up in my bed, feeling a pounding in my head. I was hungover. Badly. I somehow got up from my bed, walking into my bathroom, looking in the mirror. My hair was a tangled mess, I couldn’t imagine the pain I would go through just to detangle it, my mascara was smudged and so was my lipstick, a clear sign I had slept in my makeup. Yikes. As I began to sort out my hair problem, wincing as I brushed through my hair, I heard my phone vibrating on my nightstand. I ignored it, but it kept on getting louder and louder. Finally, I walked over, seeing it was Claudia, and answered. “Morning Clau.” “Y/N. HAVE YOU SEEN INSTA? OR TWITTER? OR ANY SOCIAL MEDIA?” “Uh no, why?” “You. Pedri. Leaked.” My mind went foggy. What about Pedri? Then it came to me. The makeout session. The lights weren’t from the party, they were paparazzi who had been at the party. We were in trouble, fans would speculate, and it wasn’t good whatsoever. “Clau, I’ll talk to you later, I have to go right now, k?” I hung up without waiting for her response, opening my Instagram. 

My notifications were blown up, and my feed was entirely Pedri and I making out. I was in big trouble. The guys had a game today, and there was no doubt people would interview him and question him about it, but what was worse was I didn’t know what he would say, perhaps that it was a mistake. All I could do was wait.

The same day, 5:03pm. After the Barca game.

The boys had won. 4-0. A great win truly, but it was time to see the interviews. I had insisted on staying in bed all day, only getting up to shower and eat a poptart. Luckily, we had the day off, but that also meant nothing to do that could take my mind off Pedri. I opened my Insta once again. Seeing there was a video of a Pedri interview from today. Interviewer: “Pedri, what about the video that was leaked with you and football star y/n y/l/n, anything to say?” “Can I not just kiss my girl? I mean, i’ve been getting annoyed about this, not towards you, but towards those judging us. Its my personal life, but yes, as you can see we did kiss, and I regret not a thing.”

Interviewer: “I have to say Pedri, you two make quite the couple. (he turns to the camera) Well, this is Jose Ramos, and thank you for watching, and again, congrats on the win Pedri.” 

I couldn’t comprehend it. His girl? Oh gosh. I quickly searched for Pedri’s profile and dm’d him. Tu chica? (Your girl?)

The Perfect Confession

Ok listen I am not one for nonconsensual public confession but know your audience, Tien is a perpetually invisible middle child who is not afraid of public attention and he is a film major, Lomfon making him a film to illustrate his feelings got me emotional, and him then also saying them out loud!! Because my boy learns from his own and others' mistakes, yesssss.

The Perfect Apology

I was so ready for Tai to suffer from the bed of his own making this episode, and I was not sure four days of searching was going to be enough. But that apology was PERFECT. He apologized first, he explained exactly what he did wrong, and he fixed it by saying his feelings aloud, finally! I was braced for the show to let him get away with not saying it, but he did. AND the show did us one better by giving us the explanation that he was parroting his parents' bullshit, which is such a real thing and it is difficult to catch yourself doing it, so the fact that he recognized it displayed his growth before the apology too. Just, all around this was so perfectly constructed and I was so pleased. Hell yes.

Best Brothers Being Best

Honestly Tien could have just said "unfuck it" to Tai again in that phone call and it would have rolled up to the same thing lol I really do love how their relationship was rock solid through this entire show, even when romance was potentially a threat. They have such a good sibling dynamic, one of the best I've seen in any show, and it makes me happy whenever Tien and Tai interact.

It also had a few things that I didn't love:

Awkward Logistics

This is maybe not a big deal because Tai is a writer but he works in a job that requires him to be in the office at least occasionally and Patts just started setting up a new vet clinic in Chiang Mai. Is Tai going to leave his friends and family to work remotely and live in Chiang Mai with Patts? Are they going to have to work out their relationship anew long distance? This is going to suck a little bit, and the adult in me could not help but notice and have it damper my joy. That being said, it was something Patts said he was thinking about for awhile so maybe it's something that would have come up anyway in future.

Patts Now Believes in Soulmates

Honestly, this was the biggest damper for me and I wish they hadn't included it (but maybe they had to for the sequel, IDK). Patts originally was willing to try with Nara because he didn't think the soulmate thing could dictate his emotions and he loved her, but she would not believe him. He also was willing to try with Tai before realizing that they were soulmates. And he told Tai that he would have wanted to try a relationship with him whether or not they were soulmates. So why now are we told that he suddenly thinks he can only love his soulmate for the rest of his life? This is not just anti-narrative, but anti-Patts' previous statements. I get that he was hurting and predisposed to be melodramatic in that moment, but it was a weird statement to include.

Tien's Turn for Drama

I KNEW this was going to happen! They spent too much time making it a big deal that Tai was the only sibling with hearing loss during rain. I just want my best boy to be happy for five minutes! Considering these characters, and what Tien's already said about what he would do if given this choice, I could see this plot being interesting. Especially because Tien had to suffer, now it's Lomfon's turn, maybe. But still, just let me have this cuteness for a little longer, show!

But all of that is relatively minor and honestly what we got was so good I can forgive and forget all of it.

SEASON 1 THROUGH THE EYES OF FLORIBETH DALISAY WITH MENTIONS OF: @fellvespers + @founderscouncil & @silencedrage + @shadowbrn

1x01: in this is the part where you run, there is a five foot three vampire named floribeth dalisay present during the scene where lizzie talks to rafael at the sports field. this vampire wears a necklace with tiny stars, a pastel colored sweater and a skirt and has headphones on. this vampire will be seen again at the end of the episode, during the party at the old mill, where she keeps to herself, drinks a blood bag and stares at the werewolves being rowdy; she stares at one werewolf in particular: jed tien.

1x02: during some people just want to watch the world burn, flori is present at the annual flag football game for wade and wade only. even if he doesn’t really have that big a role. he’s still her friend and she’s there to support him. she’s not really a big sports fan so it’s no skin off her nose whether the salvatore stallions win or lose.

(the dragon girl that hope kills in the woods, however, is the dragon princess from the night world, unbeknownst to anyone.)

1x03: the next time flori appears is in we’re being punked, pedro which means that she, too, got in trouble. well, she got in trouble by proxy because some of the timberwolves taped the flag football game, questioning kaleb’s sudden agility. flori hacked their devices and deleted the video in question and now she’s joining mg, lizzie, hope and josie in the town square.

during this episode it becomes clear that she mostly hangs out with mia hirsch who is flori’s best friend, alongside loren bennett - flori's other best friend. together, they form the anti squad to the super squad.

there is an extra scene in which flori laments about getting in trouble for doing the right thing.

during this episode flori sees donovan lockwood for the first time but the two won’t interact at all until donovan triggers his wolf curse and transfers.

connor throws the milkshake on lizzie and acts as though it was an accident but the milkshake hits mia too. fortunately it’s strawberry and not chocolate, otherwise things would have ended up very ugly. donovan - a bystander to all of this - doesn’t say anything and flori leaves with mia, disappointed in his actions.

once they’re back at the school, lizzie refuses to go back to the square and goes to help out the tiny witch kids which includes everyone’s favorite kiddo pedro.

flori vanishes to her room after double checking and making sure that mia is okay, leaving her with loren; though she promised emma, dorian and alaric she would quit hacking, she intends to get into dana and connor’s devices, either scrambling it or extracting information to be used at a later date, for what they both put mia through.

flori is present in the assembly hall when alaric gives his speech, but she’s only half listening to what he’s saying, busying herself with thoughts of vengeance on certain timberwolves.

1x04: so of course she’d want to join the team during hope is not the goal. connor and dana hurt one of her best friends and this cannot go unpunished. emma tig, however, knows what makes flori tick and explicitly forbids alaric to send flori to mystic falls high. for once, he listens to her.

this means that she’s at the school and present during lunchtime when jed and rafael have their stand off in the mess hall, as she’d been sitting with josie who has been pouring over the curriculum.

later, when it turns out that dana and connor are both incapitated, flori feels bad. they were terrible people, yes, but they didn’t deserve to get hurt and potentially die for it.

flori abandons her short lived revenge plot, choosing instead to focus on researching whoever or whatever the new monster seems to be. because the humans of mystic falls high seem to be dropping like flies.

she doesn't think it's kaleb's fault, although he did feed on cheerleader beula hammond and she's glad when hope, josie and lizzie vanquish the real monster; she's never been a fan of creepy crawlies.

1x05: in malivore, flori wants nothing to do with the honor council. she’s got her own things going on and being on that council would only interfere. flori votes for kaleb over mg.

weirdness aside, landon seems like a nice enough person. flori’s gotten used to his presence and will miss seeing him around - he’s one of the people aside from wade and mg who speaks nerd fluently - but she also understands why he got voted out.

flori is warmer to donovan and is willing to be his friend, seeing in him a lot of what she sees in jed: someone who hides his good heart, someone with the potential to be more than what he is right now; someone who needs a person in their corner. flori is willing to be that person. provided donovan apologizes properly to mia first.

1x06: during mombie dearest, flori drops by the twins’ bedroom while they’re getting ready to drop off her presents for them, and to inform them that she's not coming to their birthday, mere minutes before penelope shows up to deliver the bad news about caroline.

jo and cassie aren’t the only ones brought back: the necromancer also brings back flori’s mom selena, citing that it’s easier to pull people back to life who have a connection to the supernatural. when asked why her dad isn’t here, the necromancer says that her dad already found peace and wouldn’t budge.

flori spends the rest of this episode with her mom, catching her up to speed, only for her to reveal that she knows most things already. selena had been at peace together with raul and they’d been watching her.

when they’re walking to the old mill, she apologizes for the fact that her actions led to their deaths. selena hugs her and says that she is forgiven and that her dad forgives her too.

flori tells her mom that she’s a vampire and her mom takes it in stride. says that she figured it was something like this. it reminded her of the poetry slam flori took her and her husband to before she came out as pansexual. instead of a poetry slam, it’s a zombie slam.

they briefly talk about her friends and about the guy she’s got a crush on. flori’s mom tells her that jed’s rough around the edges but that she likes him so much more than doug carson.

unfortunately they’re attacked by zombies again and both flori and her mom flee, finding refuge within the school.

while the twins siphon the magic keeping her alive from jo, selena crumbles to dust in flori’s arms.

(flori initially assumes that the connection that the necromancer talked about was her being a vampire. later, she’ll find out that selena harman is actually descended from a powerful witch bloodline and chose to erase her memories and bind her powers.)

1x07: rememberance day is never a good day for flori. but during death keeps knocking on my door, she writes two letters as she does every year: one to her parents and one to sue carson.

turns out that the latter also got revived due to having unfinished business.

while the necromancer is being held in a cell, mg and kaleb are snacking on humans and rafael and alaric are figuring out what happened to cassie, flori just wants to spend as much time with sue as she can and lays everything out in the open, apologizing for everything.

sue doesn’t believe her at first, thinking this is all an elaborate joke and expects doug to be in on it, so flori has to show sue her true face. then, sue goes from thinking it’s a joke to being understandably horrified. she backs away, saying she wants to go home; she wants nothing to do with flori, either. not even when she feels her end coming.

though it breaks her heart to do so, flori says her goodbyes and tries her best to honor that decision.

flori ends the episode with putting the letters in an old shoebox at the back of her closet in which she keeps them all. but not before taking a picture of them on her phone. for safe keeping.

1x08: in maybe i should start from the end, flori is still reeling from everything that happened prior.

not only is she still mourning her parents and sue all over again - her former roommate - a witch called druscilla isobel saitou, makes it clear that she’s gonna have loren in her coven - druscilla collects powerful witches, see. it sucks because druscilla had been nice at first. perfectly pleasant, if a bit dark. she also badgers flori about her very obvious crush on jed, reminding her that there’s a chance she’ll have to bury him - and everyone she’ll ever love - in the end.

landon’s brought back home and when flori overhears hope muttering something about triad industries to herself, she once again resumes digging into them again.

1x09: exam week rolls around soon afterwards and not even flori - who has always been a meticulous student and is known for her good grades - is immune to stress, nightmares and the trappings of the night hag slash oneiroi in what was hope doing in your dreams?

flori’s nightmares are mostly about sue and her parents but there are also flashes of the memory she’s repressed about the time she got turned into a vampire by derek machado (who is, indeed, related to ethan, maya and sherriff machado) and other deep seated fears like getting captured by triad industries and having her fangs pulled out of her mouth without anaesthesia.

she ends the episode in the library at first, talking to dorian. he suggests, gently, that she should go and see emma.

1x10: in there’s a world where your dreams came true, flori appears in each of lizzie’s quote-unquote ‘dream worlds’.

in the first reality, flori has arrived shortly before jed does and watches while he gets the tour. when asked why she stuck around in the first place, flori reveals that she has nowhere else to go.

in the second reality, flori is a transfer student from maple hollows high and a bit of a delinquent who uses her skills for favors or extra cash; she hides the fact that she’s a vampire but yearns for a place where she can openly flash her fangs. when the students of the mikaelson school roll up, flori is quick to leave with them.

in the third reality, flori is on her own while triad wages war against all supernatural creatures. flori’s attempts at exposing triad for being shady backfired: her parents died and sue died as well. wade died in front of her eyes too and she’s lost sight of loren and mia. after getting out of the triad industries detention facility, her plan is to wait it out in one of the bunkers she stumbled upon. but when jed accidentally breaks into said bunker, flori joins forces with him and, together with jed and kaleb, takes lizzie to find alaric and the resistance, where flori earns her keep by helping with communications.

1x11: flori is determined to once again stay out of the limelight in we’re gonna need a spotlight. she knows how to warble a tune and hold one too but has a severe case of stage fright. when pressed, flori says that just like landon, she doesn’t sing in front of people.

later, kaleb and mg rock the house down and flori sits in the front row, cheering loudly. she also cheers during the talent show redo when josie sings and when the vampires do a sit in protest during the second go around, flori slips out the door, intending to hang out with loren and mia, whose enrollment in the school is now finalized.

1x12: during there’s a mummy on main street, it is revealed that flori is actually the one who told josie about the biggest ball of yarn in the country. it is also revealed that flori hails from maple hollows.

extra episode: there would be an extra episode detailing flori’s backstory pre enrolling as a year-round student at the salvatore boarding school, including the way in which she got turned.

it is set before the boy who still has a lot of good to do and after there’s a mummy on main street in season 1 called the girl who does not remember where she came from will never reach her destination. which is a mouthful but it’s chosen for a reason.

this is actually a filipino  proverb that not only ties into flori’s culture - i feel like her dad, especially, would be fond of proverbs like this - but also introduces her as a character because the way flori got turned by derek was so traumatic that she repressed the memory until she worked on it and through it with emma.

(personally i also feel like that episode title nods to finch, who is also filipina, too because finch repressed the memory of her turning into a werewolf as well due to it also being traumatic.)

it also ties her to her mom selena harman-dalisay who drank from the cup of lethe, becoming a lost witch after she thought she lost not only her younger sisters but their kids as well.

(fortunately, the kids survived, but that’s for later seasons.)

this episode title deliberately mirrors mg’s, tying their triad stories together.

1x13: in the boy who still has a lot of good to do, flori joins the impromptu roadtrip to visit mg’s parents but never comes back. most of the events play out as they do on the show, except veronica recognizes and remembers flori and remembers her hacking into the triad industries database.

veronica knocks her out with vervain and holds in the basement of the greasley house where veronica intends to question her, making it clear that she is not above using extreme methods, if necessary.

said extreme methods come in the form of ying liu, who injects flori with a self made chemical compound, serving as a truth serum. unfortunately, it's a powerful compound and flori ends up telling ying everything. there's a burn wound on her left elbow where ying dipped the syringe into a vervain solution before injecting it directly into her bloodstream.

at some point after the interrogation, flori blacks out.

1x14: during let’s just finish the dance, flori’s not present and wade gets more and more pissed off with the fact that people are having a fucking pageant instead of looking for floribeth! like, hello?! priorities, people!

when it becomes clear that neither the super squad nor the adults give a fuck, he takes matters in his own hands and informs his crush brock - who sees it fit to inform rafael and jed, just in case wade calls upon brock to help out - as well as mia and loren.

wade leaves a note for donovan, too.

throughout the episode, it becomes clear that wade only pretends to be a bumbling fool; he’s actually rather shrewd and cuts deals left and right. he knows what’s going on in and around the school at all times.

1x15: in i’ll tell you a story, flori awakens at triad industries, next to landon.

veronica tells flori that she’s the one who ordered the hit on her parents after she caught flori hacking into the database; she actually wanted flori dead for her transgressions but when it turned out she wasn’t home, she ordered her firing squad to take out flori’s parents instead, to send a message. out of the goodness of her heart, she told them to make it look like an accident, too. veronica didn’t have to do that, but she did. because she’s no monster. and really, if flori hadn’t been snooping, none of this would have happened in the first place.

she tells clarke to prep flori for transport to the triad industries detention facility. she also tells clarke to tie up loose ends and throw landon into the pit.

then, she leaves. clarke unties landon, who in turn unties flori. clarke beseeches landon to help him, but he refuses at first. flori, on the other hand, is more willing to cooperate. even if everything about triad is shady as hell.

clarke escapes with landon and wade rescues flori. they hug and wade mutters wetly that they’re even now because flori got him out of the zetes institute.

1x16: triad storms the school in there’s always a loophole and flori runs into kaleb while he’s trying to get the kids out and to the bus. she, wade and the others help with that.

after the siege, flori is one of the many students sitting in the assembly hall. alaric comes clean about everything and gets voted out.

the episode ends with loren and flori laying on the floor of loren’s bedroom; flori reads a text aloud, it’s from mia telling them she’s on her way from the kitchen with snacks. loren tells flori that bonnie will come back to teach at the salvatore boarding school in the fall now that alaric’s booted out.

La Pluie and the Aftermath 

There’s something so satisfying about a story that pays off every beat it has set up, isn’t there? I am going to have comparably less to say about this episode than the last one, and it’s not because it’s any less masterful. It’s because I already said it last week, because this show’s writing is so damn consistent that after watching that episode I knew exactly what needed to happen to continue the characters’ emotional arcs.

So in this episode, we continue the arcs for our core four as expected:

Tien is sad, delivering truths Tai needs, and generally continuing to be an emotional rock even as he nurses his own broken heart

Lomfon has realized that he kissed the wrong brother, and is beginning to clean up his mess with a much needed apology to Tai

Patts is going through it (and lord does Pee continue to kill it in this final arc) and still upset with Tai, but because he’s Patts he still tries to compromise and reach out one more time (which the show smartly blocks with a well-timed misunderstanding) before he decides to pack up and try a change of scenery to nurse his broken heart

Tai stubbornly continues to passively wait for Patts to be the one to make amends, forgives Lomfon easily (because that boy never mattered to him enough to bother holding a grudge), and then goes and pitches a fit at his mother’s wedding because he continues to be entirely self-absorbed 

The grace Tai received from his family is perhaps more than he deserved given his extremely childish behavior in the context of those scenes, but we know how much he needed to finally understand what happened with his parents so that he could begin to heal and get his shit together about Patts. I really loved the direction the show took with this. As it usually does (episode 10's big explosion excepted), the show steered away from high drama and revealed that their breakup was entirely mundane - they realized their romantic relationship wasn’t working, and decided to split up even though they still love each other.

@sliceduplife and @neuroticbookworm pointed out to me that this episode is the first time we actually learn Tai’s parents names - Yadfah and Warun - and I think it’s because this is the first time we are seeing them as actual people instead of stand-ins for Tai’s hang-ups. And as we learned, contra to Tai's long held belief, it was Tai’s dad who ultimately decided to release them from this obligatory soulmate marriage, giving them the freedom they needed to live happier lives while keeping their platonic connection intact and sticking together through the rain. 

That’s fucking beautiful, and you could see how moved and shaken Tai was as he realized he’d gotten it all wrong. And his dad did us one better by making the point explicit: Tai done fucked up by dumping Patts, and needed a reminder that when you find a good love, you have to take care of it.

Tai needed to hear that so desperately. He did so much damage to his relationships, and for no damn good reason. Tien already made sure he knew that it was his lying that caused all the drama, and now he can see from the way his parents treat each other that his approach to his relationship with Patts has been wrong-headed from the start. And so we head into the finale where we’ll get to see him finally be the one to reach out to Patts, to use his words, and to make amends for the things he got wrong.

I want to end by just mentioning how incredible it is that this show managed to wind up to such a high drama emotional climax and then pivot immediately to such a quiet, calm release of tension while keeping everything emotionally consistent. This is only possible when the writing, acting, directing, and editing all come together perfectly. I have every confidence that La Pluie will stick the landing.

Interesting enough, I’m pretty sure I read a fic for another fandom (either Twilight or the mortal instruments, I don’t remember which) with this exact same premise when I was like 13 and am still searching for it to this day cause I don’t remember the name or author and it it was my everything back then lol

The Luke of FMN being based on Bookcerys while his family lean more towards their hotd counterparts could go a few ways. Mainly because his personality is so different from what we see in hotd and fanon yet exactly the same in certain ways. This version of Luke isn’t afraid of confrontation but is still very much a mamas boy, he doesn’t get sea sick but loves lemon cakes just as much as Rhaenyra. It’s the small things changes in his personality make everyone go “?” But most of all it’s Luke’s reaction to Aemond which confuses his family the most.

Whereas Luke once shook in fear whenever he took so much as a stole a glance at Aemond during the disaster court hearing, nowadays he barely acknowledges the guy. Nothing Aemond does gets his attention which only drives Aemond to try harder. Like, he knows Luke is holding a grudge because of their last moments (who wouldn’t?) but he’s a changed man now and needs his pookie to see that. Sadly he can’t even get a single greeting from him.

Aemond would probably experience the stages of grief in this scenario because in his mind he’d rather Luke yell and scream at him rather than pretending he doesn’t exist. At first he’s angry, making petty jabs and pretending he doesn’t care. Then comes guilt, constantly dreaming of that night at Storm’s End, telling himself that being ignored is the least of what he deserves. Soon enough there’s bargaining, walking beside Luke in the hallway on his way to class as he tries to negotiate terms. Promising that he can punch and kick him however many times he feels he needs (though Jace has already taken that liberty a few times) as long as he agrees to sit down and have a simple conversation with him. Like, come on? Our families have practically been living together since before either of us were born and you haven’t given me more than a grunt or hum???

When this fails he goes into depressedmond mode because it seems as though he’ll never even hear Luke say his name.

Throughout this time Luke is watching and observing to see how long it’ll take his uncle to accept their current lack of a relationship before he finally decides to speak to the guy.

It’s really hard because there has been multiple pitiful characters in BL, however nobody hit more close to home than Tien. This is the story of my life. I totally understand the feeling of never being chosen, of being nice and caring but absolutely no one is ever returning the attention. At best, they thank you for being such a kind person and at worst, they take that for granted. It’s always that you are the nice person to people and nothing else. And when you are brash to protect yourself, people dislike you and make it very clear. I think it’s so rare that BL nail a characterisation and make it so vivid and realistic.

La Pluie has done fantastically and Tien is just an amazing character all around.

He is constantly fighting for his place as the middle child in a family of four because everyone else has a role (oldest, hearing disease, youngest) and then there's him, the lone middle child, who has to be something to be seen and to matter.

He is a constant source of comfort to Tai and celebrates everything about him before he even asks him for advice and then gots advice that is barely anything because the general assumption is that he's not serious or deep so why should the advice be?

He might be brash and rude but that doesn't change how much he cares it's just a desperate bid to not be forgotten that he doesn't even dare to use at home because of course not.

But he cares so deeply and he takes cares of others ahead of himself and he covers up his pain so often that it's become second nature and he fell in love with Lomfon but now he's pulled back entirely and he's going to hurt so much.

He had nowhere to go at the end of it. Everyone else inside, everyone else somewhere safe and then Tien on a bench outside, just as alone but even more isolated...

He deserves the happiest ending and I hope he gets it.
