This is, yet another very conceptual thing for brainstorming.

You know how a lot of the Units have these really cool-or-scary looking second forms? So even if we were already pondering over what Trigger's body potentially looked like, there's also the question of that possible (maybe even less-human-like) second form.

Considering if that were true, would Volnutt still be capable of activating it? Maybe all he needs is to jog his memory.

"Don't even think about it."

Charles saw the post you were looking at, completely by accident because he just so happened to be standing right behind you when you came across the photo. He hadn't meant to snoop but thank god he did.

"Excuse me?" You locked your phone, placing it on the bar top in front of you.

"The chapel," Charles glanced at the phone screen and back at his younger sister, his baby sister. "Don't even think about it."

It was almost perfect timing, Lando walking into the hotel bar at that very second, wearing all black which now that Charles looked at him, noticed it contrasted well with your all white attire. Almost like you planned this.

"Oh mon Dieu," Charles breathed out, his face turning sickeningly white.

Lando helped you off the stool before reaching for your glass that had about a sip left of whatever cocktail you ordered. He twirled it, mixing the ice around before finishing off the drink, not even paying attention to all 5 stages of distress Charles was currently experiencing until you laughed, telling Charles to calm down.

"What's going on?" Lando asked, clearly having missed something. He slid his arm around your waist and that's when he noticed that Charles was about 6 seconds away from throwing up.

You opened your phone screen and showed Lando the photo of the F1 themed Wedding Chapel. Lando wanted to laugh, but he had walked into a perfect situation- he was always looking for ways to fuck with Charles.

You wearing white and him wearing all black, that was just an added bonus and Lando was going to run with it.

He handed the phone back to you and looked at Charles with the most serious expression he could muster, "Well, why do we think we came to Vegas early, mate?"

"Don't even joke about that," Charles warned.

Lando scoffed, "It's not a joke. You're welcome to come, but we were just going to elope."

You put your hand on his chest, tongue clicking against the back of your teeth in attempt to scold him but he only tightened his grip on your side and flashed you a smile.

Charles, truthfully, couldn't tell if Lando was being sincere. He wanted to call him out on his bluff but respectfully, he couldn't take any chances with the McLaren driver.

He turned to you instead, "You're not getting married without maman present."

"No but she knows," Lando interjected, a master of thinking on his feet. "Of course I asked permission first. And Enzo, asked him too and Arthur."

"But not me?"

"You'd say no."

"Of course I'd say no."

"That's why I didn't ask you," Lando chuckled. "Honestly, we asked Pascal if she wanted to fly out for this but she said as long we do another vow ceremony in Monaco she's fine to miss this Vegas wedding."

Charles hated that Lando had an answer to seemingly everything. You didn't hate it, but you were worried this was going to go on for far too long.

"Okay," you stepped in, a timid smile on your lips. "Lando's lets' just-"

"Eager, are we?" Lando's grin grew. "Come on then."

And then he took your hand and practically sprinted out of the hotel, leaving Charles wondering what the hell was going on. With his fingers squeezing yours tightly, he took a sharp right outside the doors and led you further and further into the Vegas nightlife.

He just wanted to give Charles a heart attack, Lando didn't even know where the chapel was.

"He's going to murder you," you told him once you'd finally slowed down.

"He'll calm down when he realizes I'm joking."

"He'll realize it after being arrested for murder."

Lando dropped your hand and draped his arm over your shoulders instead, pulling you closer as you walked side my side. He kissed the top of your head as your raised your hand up, reconnecting your fingers because let's face it, you always wanted to be holding his hand.

The usual magic of Vegas wasn't the same thanks to the construction of the paddock and grand stands, but you could still appreciate the energy that came with this lively city.

You had no idea where Lando was leading you. It wouldn't shock you to know that Lando also had no idea where he was going. You were happy to just be walking with him, pointing out the sights and fascinating characters you wouldn't see anywhere else.

You stepped into casinos, checked out a few different hotels, really just being typical tourists for a while, and purposely ignoring all of Charles' calls until Lando eventually took your phone before you let it go to voicemail for the eighth time.

"Mate we're just about to exchange rings, can this wait?" And then he hung up, sliding your phone into his pocket so you didn't have to deal with it anymore.

"You're insane, Norris," you told him.

"You love it."

"I do."

Lando stopped walking, eyebrows raised at your words and it took a few seconds to you to realize exactly what you had said. His stupid smirk made you blush and you pushed on his chest, giving him one of your typical eye rolls because what else could you do in this situation.

"You do?" Lando repeated. "I do, too, I mean. I do- I would, you know? Like- I do."

You laughed at his stammering, "What are you even saying?"

"I'm saying I'd marry you," Lando blurted out and even though his words were followed with the most infectious laughter, there was no doubt in your mind- you knew he meant it with his whole heart.

In the middle of Las Vegas, under the bright lights and suffocating sounds, there was Lando. Holding your hand and looking at you like he was getting a glimpse into his future. Maybe he was.

"I'd marry you," Lando repeated, no laughter this time. He glanced at your hand, your left hand, finger tracing over the spot where he sort of wished he was sliding a ring onto. "I don't- this isn't a proposal, Y/N, I don't have a ring, I wouldn't-" he chuckled at the insanity of all of this. "I wouldn't propose to you in Vegas, I know better. But I would marry you."

And what could you say to that? This wasn't a proposal, but it seemed to be a promise and you were good with that. A promise was all you needed.

You cupped his cheeks with your hands and pulled his face down to yours. He smiled as he kissed you, thinking about the day he would propose, the day he'd get to see you walk down the aisle. And not some cheap Vegas alter.

"I love you," you told him, lips brushing against his. "So much, Lando. I love you."

"Love me enough to marry me one day?" He asked, fingers resting below your chin.

Your lips curled back over your smile. Your faint nod was all Lando needed but you added a few more words, just to reassure him you were all his.

"All you have to do is ask."

“Hi! Welcome to Max’s Rustic Pizza, how can I- oh well hi Honey!” The slightly bored customer service voice immediately perks up once Guy recognises the person entering the restaurant.

“Evening Guy. I thought we could walk home together today.” They greet, leaning on the counter near him.

“Well anything for my Honey of course!” He gushes,” you know if you missed lil ol’ me so bad you should have said and I would have rushed to your side at once. I'd have been there as fast as my stunningly gorgeous legs could carry me to that - can I just say - beautiful butt of yours. Nothing would have gotten in my way, I would have battled the most dangerous of weathers that Dahlia could have thrown at me; snowstorms, rainstorms, sunstorms-”

Honey raises an eyebrow, “sunstorms?”

He gasps, placing an offended hand on his chest. “Are you doubting me? The love of my life having so little faith in me wounds me I cannot deny. And at my place of work no less? In front of all these customers?”

He gestures dramatically (as if Guy could do anything any other way) to the starkly empty restaurant space.

“Oh no of course.” Honey muses, unable to hide the slight smirk creeping onto their face at his antics. “The zero customers and your colleagues who are all in the kitchen.”

“And the ghosts Honey don't discredit them, that's very rude.” He says attempting to keep a serious face but failing to conceal his mischievous grin.

They roll their eyes.

“Don't roll your eyes, I'm serious! Deadly serious - oh I can't say that in front of the ghosts, that's very rude.”

His babbling is interrupted by a stout woman emerging from the back. “Guy? Are you serving a customer or talking their ear off.”

At the moment it wasn't just them and Guy, Honey slipped into a stiffer posture.

“Oh hey Rosa! Fret not, I was simply saying hello to my partner, most wonderful and beautiful.”

Rosa looked over Honey with a small smile. “I've heard a lot. All good things I assure you, but a lot. Nice to meet you.”

They nod awkwardly, “thanks.”

Rosa turns to Guy, “you wanna leave early? There's no one here and you finish in ten anyway. And don't worry I'll make sure you're paid, I can't be assed to do the maths to work out what ten minutes off your paycheck would be.”

“Yes! Definitely! Absolutely! Thank you dear Rosa, now-” he rounds on Honey, “we have a date… with destiny!” He crows, ripping off his apron and tossing it on the counter theatrically.

Rosa bursts out laughing, “go hang your apron up Guy and I'll see you on the weekend.”

He grins with a salute grabbing the apron and dashing to the back.

Honey feels their heart sink as he leaves them with Rosa. It's fine. She seems nice. And Guy will be fast. They hope.

“So how long have you two been dating?” She asks politely.

Good. A question about Guy, that they can do.

“A few years now. We were roommates at the end of university.”

“Ah I remember that now, he was so happy after meeting you, you know.”

This surprised them a little, she made it sound like he wasn't always… well, Guy.

“Really?” They ask a little softer.

“Ah well,” she waves her hand, “he was always a bundle of energy, but just a bit closed off.”

Before Honey can think of a possible reply to that, they feel a pressure on their back as Guy throws his arms around their shoulders.

“My ears are burning.” He says in a sing-song voice right in their ear, cackling as they swat him away. “Only good things from you two I hope?”

“Never.” They deadpan. “Are you ready?”

“Yes I am - now let's goooooooooooo. Bye Rosa!” He calls as he all but drags Honey out the door. They give her a small wave too and Rosa chuckles as the pair leave.

“Thank you for rescuing me Honey!” Guy beams at them after the door swings shut.

“I'd argue Rosa did that more than I did.” They don't look at him as they reach for his hand.

“Whatcha reaching for their my sweet grumpy partner, master of the deadpan, creator of the snarky comment, ultimate ruler of my heart and also the streets of Dahli-”

“Okay nevermind.” They pull their hand away making him whine instantly.

“Nooooo please return your generous gift! Listen, I can negotiate, I can be very persuasive when I want to be! You would know that very well, am I right? Ehhh?”

They shoot him a warning glare, “Perv, we're in public.”

“And I didn't think you’d ever complain about- holy shit!” Guy cuts himself off to very unsubtly slap Honey’s arm and stage whisper to them, “it’s the couple with the huge dog! The one I was telling you about, that was like, table sized!”

They look to see a couple laughing amongst themselves on the other side of the road. “The dog’s not with them.” They say, just a little disappointed.

“Aww don't pout Honey, I'm sure we'll see it one day!”

They fire another glare his way, “I am not pouting, now stop pointing at them before they look at us.”

Guy just laughs, weaving his fingers in theirs. “Okay okay whatever you say, you know you can just say you want to get me home as soon as possible-”

They groan but give his hand a squeeze, “You're insufferable.”

“I love you too Honey!”

They give three small squeezes to his hand back, and his grin brightens tenfold.

“Asher what the fuck?” Baaabe turns to their wonderful boyfriend who had just nearly collapsed with laughter next to them on their way to their double date.

“No no Baaabe I'm fine I just-” he bursts into another fit of giggles. “Across the road, that guy is the pizza delivery person and he just called us the couple with the big dog.”

Baaabe burst out laughing at this too. “Well that's your own damn fault isn't it?”

“Oh definitely.” He cackles. “Worth it a thousand times over.”

“Oh god they must think we're the worst dog owners.” Baaabe says suddenly sobering up a bit.

Ash gently and affectionately pokes their forehead. “Hey you don't know that, so get out of your head and enjoy the fact that they think I'm the size of a table.”

Baaabe felt the small tension that had accrued to their shoulders drop and they let out another laugh, leaning into his shoulder as they walk.

“You're right, Milo’s gonna have a field day.”

“Yeah just don't tell David.”

Baaabe snickers causing Asher to gasp loudly. “Baaabe no you can't!”

“You'll have to stop me first.” They tease before taking off down the street.

“Noooo Baaabe get back here.” Asher calls as he runs after them.

Finally arriving home was a relief for Guy. As much as he kept up his playful attitude at work, it was nice to destress with his partner in the quiet safety of their apartment.

Flopping immediately onto the couch, he plants his face into the couch pillows with a groan.

“Swur relmf.”

“What?”

He lifts his head up weakly, “sweet relief.” He clarifies before burying his face back in the pillow.

“Long day?” Honey asks, tone softening as they pat his head. He just nods, relaxing into their touch. “I'll cook, I've had today off anyways.”

He half moves to get up, but they push him back down. “Rest.” They say firmly, “I can handle it, watch some tv or something.”

Too exhausted to argue, he just nods with an affectionate smile and grabs the remote. Switching on the tv, he notices there’s a video already open from a disk in the Xbox.

“Honey?” He calls out, “Were you watching something today?”

“Mmm?” they answer distractedly.

“You left a dvd in the xbox.” He presses play curiously, “You know I haven’t used a dvd in so long. I used to watch Star Trek after school every day on the dvds my dads got me. Which can I just say it is outrageous how quickly the passage of time claims technology like a hungry beast. I mean the last Blockbuster closed in 2014, murdered, taken out, assassinated by the ravenous nature of Big Streaming Services. I mean unless you count when I had to record that tortuous ad at work.”

“Hi there! Here at Max’s Rustic Pizza, we���ve got you covered.”

The video finally starts up again causing both Honey and Guy to gasp. Honey rushes in from the kitchen and attempts to grab the remote from a now very smug Guy.

“Honey, were you watching the old ad they made me record?” He turns to them with stars in his eyes.

“I-” they shuffle from foot to foot, Guy had never seen them so flustered before. “I just missed you is all I guess.”

“Awwww Honey!! You sap! Are you finally going soft? Is the true squishy interior of my beloved sweetheart finally being revealed to me??”

“Oh shush you menace, it’s not a big deal.” They fold their arms as they roll their eyes at him, turning away.

“You can’t deny it! The court has seen the truth of the case finally. After years of protests and lawyers and witnesses, we are getting down to the truth. That you, Honeybabydarling, love me your oh so humble boyfriend. Previously known as the most eligible bachelor in town, nay Dahlia, nay the world. And I for one would like the record to show that I love you back just as much oh Honey most wonderful. That I am all yours for the taking, ehhh?”

“I’m going to finish dinner.” They say, covering their smile with their hand.

“Wait!” Guy jumps up after them, “can I please have a kiss since I, tragically I know, am yet to receive one today. And I know you would just love to rectify that.” He taps his lips while giving them puppy eyes.

“Fine.” They say begrudgingly, grabbing the front of his shirt and pulling him to a kiss (choosing to ignore his victorious fist pump as they do so).

They pull away and rest their forehead against his, giving his chest three small taps with their finger.

“Love you.” They murmur, eyes closed.

“I love you too Honey.” He says sweetly, tapping their hand three times in return.

my life fell apart

Hello all. You read the title of this post. I won't have time to write much for... a bit. I am coming back, things will be completed, but I doubt I'd be able to post till mid next week or the next two weeks. So. Something from a WIP to tide you over: AUTHORS NOTE This is a prequel story to the most married divorced couple focused on Jason’s time as Robin. He is therefore a child, as is the reader. It can also be read as a stand alone. It takes place over a few years, with them being 11ish here. Jason is NEW to the role, and will end the series around 15. For no particular reason. The first time you were rescued by Robin was not your first time being kidnapped. It was the twelfth. You were fast closing on the Gotham record. You hoped not to break it. You will. It always seemed to play out the same. Your mother’s position as a judge in Gotham had some low level goon decide that the best way to help their buddies escape was to hold you hostage. You were just grateful she had never sentenced anyone more serious than Mr Camera. It hadn’t gotten any easier. Your head hurts. You’ve been tied to a plastic chair for the better part of the day, in a hot, dark, shipping container in the warehouse district of Gotham.You’ve been wedged unceremoniously between a set of crates, which gives you something to kick in frustration if nothing else. You kick the crates. Nothing changes, except now your foot smarts.  You are so thirsty. You figure theoretically someone is nearby, and you could call out for water - maybe you’d get it.

You don’t trust anything these people would provide. You know, on one level that it’s stupid. They aren’t trying to kill you. They probably wouldn’t poison or drug you. Perhaps it is less distrust and more foolish pride that prevents you from making a noise. You don’t care to examine your inner motivations while you’re waiting for the Gotham police to show up. Which … typically took a day. Or Two. Three, if the freaks of Gotham decided to cause problems on purpose more than they typically did.

Except… you heard a startled cry from outside. Then a thud. Another thud. A man’s scream. You go tense. Perhaps whoever your mother was putting on the stand was a more frightening figure then you’d thought…

But then the door is kicked in with a ringing din of a boot meeting metal. The light blinds you momentarily, your vision returning in silhouette first. A caped figure, around your height, is standing in the entryway and now moving at speed towards you.

You blink as colour returns to you. Red, Green, Yellow.

Odd. You didn’t claim expertise in the Batman’s protege. But you were pretty sure he was a grown up at this point. Not a boy your age.

“Robin?” You ask groggily, as he kneels to untie you. “Don’t worry.” He looks up at you with a grin that would shame the light of a supernova. “I got you.”

He helps you to your feet, and brings your arm over his shoulder to keep you upright and guide you to the door.

A distant siren has you turning your head to see the Gotham PD coming into view - you try not to be miffed they showed up to arrest Robin so much faster then they came to rescue you.

You turn to Robin as you feel him leaving your side, and see what must be a smoke bomb hit the ground.

When it clears you can still see him running down one of the many long corridors between warehouses as fast as his legs will carry him.

A police officer touches your shoulder, and you look away. You hadn’t gotten a very good look at him… but you were pretty sure he lived up to the name of boy wonder.

I’m wondering if she and Benedict may have had an advantage on everyone else given Benedict’s artistic skills. Or if his siblings were prepared for this and it (as expected) lead to more chaos.

Sophie: So the thing is Ben and I aren't engaged. He probably only called me his fiancee because of all the morphine he was on, I'm sure he's just confused and delirious.

Kate: Oh shit are you serious?

Sophie: Well I'd think I'd know if I was engaged, it's not something that happens very often.

Sophie: So sorry for the misunderstanding x

Simon: No it's a perfectly normal response from witnessing justified violence.

Kate: And Sophie speaking as Anthony's wife; he did deserve it.

Sophie: I just don't think Anthony or Colin would want me to keep dating Ben.

Simon: Sophie let me assure you now they won't hold it against you. If anything they'll have gained respect for you.

Sophie: I severely doubt that.

Kate: Look Sophie you taught them a very valuable lesson that it's not ok to intentionally slam a mini keg of beer down on Ben's hand just because he was thrashing them at Pictionary.

Simon: And just like you and Violet were screaming at them, they could have genuinely done lasting damage and Ben would have been buggered from ever doing his art again. They had to be told and hand on heart physically assaulting them was truly the only way to get that through their thick skulls.

Kate: Plus it doubled as a valuable teaching lesson for them and the rest to never mess with Ben and especially never to fucking mess with you.

Sophie: Look even that aside I don't think it's going to work out between Ben and I. I really wound him up even before the keg incident and when he wakes up and the painkillers have worn off I expect he won't want to keep things going either so we may as well just cut our losses. What are your opinions on more „popular“ salt takes about Adrien and Mari, like the typical „Adrichat is an ass for for flirting with LB after she rejects him“ and „Maribug us a horrible stalker“?

Well, I'd be lying if I said that I have no idea where they're coming from. There are definitely times when I'll watch an episode and wonder what in the world the writers are trying to do, especially when it comes to Adrien's behavior as it's played a lot more straight than Marinette's. While I don't like her behavior at times, it's almost always treated as a joke, not a dramatic character beat whereas I cannot say the same for Adrien.

But these are characters in a TV show, not real people and we need to keep that in mind when judging them. It's why my go-to thought is "what is wrong with the writing staff" and not "Adrien is an incel." Because Adrien is very clearly not supposed to be an incel. Unless the writers are plotting something truly asinine, the Love Square is our end game couple. We are supposed to view Adrien as a charming and funny romantic lead. When he falls short of that role, it's not Adrien "showing his true colors." He's a fictional character. He has no true colors. If his actions and words are ever unbecoming for a romantic lead, it's because the writers are failing to write Adrien the way they want us to see him.

They consistently do this to all of the characters. Alya's supposed to be an awesome friend and a smart journalist (I think), but she can't see through Lila's BS. Marinette's parents are supposed to be loving and supportive, but they randomly believed that their daughter stole from their bakery to make a dress and didn't even try to let her explain herself. Nino is supposed to be the Chosen of Protection, but he didn't care to protect his best friend and just happily sent Gabriel on a rampage without a second thought.

Give me a character and I can point to a bunch of episodes that justify every salty take this fandom has because they're not pulling this stuff from thin air. They're picking and choosing the worst writing in the show and venting about it, which is frankly understandable. Like I get why there are so many Alya salt fics. Her writing in the Lila episodes is infuriating and I do find those fics a little cathartic at times. But it's really, really obvious that she's not supposed to be a terrible friend. She's a victim of the writers drawing the Lila plot line out for far too long and making Lila's lies far too obvious.

Similarly, a lot of the issues with Adrien and Marinette stem from the fact that you simply can't draw a romance plot out for five seasons without causing issues unless you make the romance a background plot. But they didn't do that. The love square is front and center for most episodes, but since it can't actually resolve, the writers keep adding drama that makes our leads feel horribly unhealthy.

On the Marinette side, her not being able to talk to Adrien was fine as an initial issue, but we are five seasons into this show. Over 100 episodes! You reach a point where it stops being cute and starts being concerning. It's also not helped by the fact that Marinette's crush is written like a celebrity crush and not a crush on someone she actually knows. Daily exposure to Adrien should mellow her out. Especially since he's supposed to be her friend! But if the writers let Marinette talk to Adrien, then they'd grow closer and might feel like they had to get together, so they couldn't let that. Thus Marinette being a disaster for four seasons and the terrible shoehorned plot to try and justify it in season five.

On the Adrien side, they let Chat Noir confess too soon. Prior to that, the Ladynoir relationship was a playful one where it was feasible that Ladybug just viewed her kitty as a massive flirt. This was especially true since he flirts with everyone. But once she knew that he was serious? The playfulness vanished and Chat Noir started coming across as entitled and pushy. It didn't help that they had him ignoring her preferences ("Don't call me Bugaboo") and getting them in trouble by not taking his job seriously (his flirting getting them hit in Oblivio).

In summary, the love square should have been resolved much sooner or been relegated to a b plot that got far less attention. I also would have reversed the square since it makes for a far more interesting story that you can organically draw out longer, but that's just me. I don't have any issue with people ignoring the canon problems and just writing Adrien and Marinette as the cute couple that they were obviously intended to be. I also enjoy fics that treat Adrien's pushiness as a character flaw that can be resolved because that's what canon should have done. His issues aren't the mark of a terrible person. They're the understandable flaws of a teenager who is in love for the first time and doesn't know how to express himself. If a show would actually address this kind of common tween/teen issue, then a lot of kids would get an incredibly valuable lesson that would help them when they grow up and fall in love. If you're ever watching Miraculous with a kid, I strongly encourage you to approach Adrien's character from that perspective. Talk about why his actions are understandable, but ultimately wrong and more likely to push someone away than win their heart just like we see with Ladybug.

Things that went through my mind while watching this episode: --The other day, my fellow otaku colleague sent me a screen cap of her dictionary looking up the word "abazure" and I was like, "I know what episode she's on."

--And, after finishing this season, she announced she has a new favorite character. You can all guess where this is going. We gushed about how wonderful Mitsuri is, like, an hour after I wrote some otherwise unprompted Mitsuri gushing. Mitsuri is so worth gushing about. And Ufotable has done her such justice!!

--First off, Love Breath. Just. So good. And they basically handed the ending them to her this season as her own personal theme music. Speaking of sounds! Cat noises on the Love Breath. And you know that part at the beginning of the ending theme when she looks in the mirror and pats her cheeks? You can hear it.

--Speaking of the ending theme, one of the demons she is shown defeating is mostly in shadow, but you can still make out stripes on him similar to Akaza... but more similar to Speedy from the Rengoku Special. Rengoku nod!?!? Also, although they aren't the same character design, in part of Mitsuri's flashback she pictures a mother and son very similar to the pair she saves in the Gaiden. Rengoku nod!?!? --'k but also... the Rengoku Gaiden had Rengoku give her a haori, and that thing got totally obliterated in that attack she took with her face. That attack also tore her uniform in many places, and that is made of material that can at least withstand a normal demon's claws and teeth. Underneath, however, she doesn't even look bruised, which goes to show how strong her constitution really is.

--OKAY BUT ALSO... right after we see her say she'll treasure the socks, Iguro says, "don't bother, if they tear, I'll just give you new ones"? We see that despite how frayed and torn her uniform is, THOSE SOCKS ARE STILL IN TIP-TOP CONDITION.

--Iguro, what are those things even made of?????

--Love?????????

--So for as much as Muichiro gets to show his ease in battle by verbally messing with Gyokko (at least once he has the double whammy of memories+mark), Mitsuri is so physically capable that it totally makes up for her less-than-stealy frame of mind. Our girl can be right in the middle of battling an Upper Moon and be like, "wHaT DiD tHat cHiLd jUsT cALL mE!?!?!?!? Oh wait yeah not a child BUT STILL"

--And I love that Zouhakuten is so ULTRA-SERIOUS that he takes her totally at serious face value as an opponent instead of caring one way or another about her personality, which surely must have thrown other demons off in the past since she's so unlike other Corp Members they might have faced before.

--And then you got Hantengu, running from his responsibilities as the #1 Most Relatable Demon.

--Some other animation moment I loved: NEZUKO'S FACE as she looks at Mitsuri with admiration. I can't get enough of those two. I'd like to think that if Mitsuri and Nezuko met when Nezuko was human, mature elder sister Nezuko would be just as enamored with her. Like, that day Nezuko tells an adult off for hitting a child, say Mitsuri comes to her rescue and also stands up to the guy, but then when Mitsuri is lightheaded with hunger Nezuko uses that chance to treat her to a snack and chat with her, Takeo is probably watching this all go down and feeling very overwhelmed seeing that chatty side of Nezuko, so when Tanjiro comes by he might be like, 'help,' but then Tanjiro probably starts going into fanboy mode right alongside fangirl Nezuko and Takeo would be doubly overwhelmed.

--Also, I loved that Tanjiro (who already finds Mitsuri amazing) is like, "wow, whoever made that sword is amazing," which makes a very nice through-line about Tanjiro's admiration for the swordsmiths. If we look back at that scene in the opening when Kotetsu is showing him the swordsmiths at work, there's such a nice chance in Tanjiro's expression as he feels extra resolve as he appreciates how this is how the swordsmiths fight.

--Another part of the animation I love in this episode: How you can feel the shifty G-forces as Genya struggles to hold on to the twisted trunks of wood, and then all the strength of his jaws as he pulls at the bark. I also love how this is really the only explanation we ever get of his powers, and we're all supposed to be like, "Huh. Okay."

--What I don't love about this episode is that we don't get to see Tanjiro & Nezuko's faces--or Genya's face, for that matter--when he throws the tree. Those were some good faces.

--While I am sad at Ufotable for taking that out, we have to appreciate all blessed new material they gave us for fleshing out Mitsuri's background. We all fell a little in love with Mitsuri's dad, didn't we? Since we've never gotten it in any canon material, I do have to wonder how her parents reacted to her joining the Demon Slayer Corp, and how that even came up in the first place.

--I ate sakura mochi while watching this episode, tee hee hee.

A/N: Alec, as always, is aged up.

My throat ached as I took in the blaring music and erratic-colored lights in the distance. It was my first scouting mission, and I was barely out of the newborn stage. I would try to take a deep breath if it would help me calm down, but I feared it would only make the ache in my throat flare up. 

"You're doing well, Y/N." 

I looked at Alec next to me. This was also our first mission together. Alone. While Alec and I had finally reached the stage where we weren't at each other's throats constantly, we weren't exactly what I would call friends either. We tolerated each other at best. Truth be told, I wasn't even supposed to be on this mission, but Demetri's services were needed elsewhere at the last minute. So, I was given the honor instead, and Aro seemed oddly giddy about it. 

"Thank you." I said quietly. 

Alec tensed ever so slightly in response, and had I still been human, I never would have picked up on it. But I wasn't human anymore. I was a vampire, with nothing but the sweet silk of blood being the only thing keeping me alive now. I couldn't help but grin. Apparently, my civility still took him by surprise and secretly I loved it. Throwing him off his game, even by just a little bit, gave me life. 

"There." Alec's voice broke me from my train of thought. 

Ah, yes. There she was, the vampire in which rumor had it she could easily hypnotize any creature on the planet, vampires included. Which would be rather interesting to see, since it was a power I had myself. The plan was to simply keep an eye on her and see her movements. If the rumors were true, we would extend an invitation to join the guard. I won't lie and say that I didn't feel threatened, because I most certainly did. But even I saw the use of having more than one hypnotist in the guard.  

However, if she were to refuse, she would pose a serious threat to us. There's no telling where she would end up or whose hands she could fall into. Or worse, starting a rival coven… which is what had been reported. 

I zeroed in on her as she entered the club, two burly looking vampires trailing behind her. 

"She already has a guard. Quite full of herself already, no?" 

Alec hummed from beside me. "Or perhaps she has hypnotized them." 

I nodded my head in agreement. There were so many variables up in the air, and I was itching to find out just how different her powers were from my own. I could hypnotize someone, but it lasted, at most for an hour, unless I was maintaining eye contact. And usually it was only used to get answers when Aro wasn't at hand, which was very rare, but it would be very useful during missions such as these. I wonder if I'd be able to put her under my spell, and vice versa. 

The feeling made me uneasy. I didn't like the thought of being completely helpless like that. I was the hypnotist, not the victim.  

"Let's go." 

I followed Alec from the rooftop, dropping down into the alleyway on the backside of the club. With a simple flick of his fingers the lock to the back door broke and we entered into an empty hallway. Alec paused, straightening his shirt before holding a hand out to me. 

"Come, mio cara." 

If I could still blush, I'm sure I would have.

And if the smirk on his lips was anything to go by, he was well aware.

I grabbed his hand, and he led me through the maze of back corridors, pausing to listen every minute or so. I stayed silent, letting him take the lead, and decided to take those few precious minutes to admire him. 

Given that the mission was essentially an undercover one, we had both forgone our black guard uniforms and instead dressed in modern garb.  

For me a simple black lace dress with matching heels, a little on the racy side and *cough* inappropriate *cough*, but I couldn't convince Heidi otherwise. But Alec was a sight in dark black skinny jeans and rather tight blue button up with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and the top button undone. 

It left little to the imagination considering that I could see the taught muscles of his back and arms moving every now and again. 

'Don't do this to yourself, Y/N. You've only just become friendly, now is not the time.' 

Then again, the boy had gone around calling me darling for a while now. I couldn't be certain if he was just trying to get under my skin or if there was something else behind it. 

I suddenly wished I had been paying attention because before I knew it Alec had me pressed against the wall, hiking one of my legs over his hips, keeping one hand on my thigh and the other coming up to my neck. My hands immediately clutched onto his shirt in shock. 

"What are doing?"  

If my heart was still beating, I was sure I would be having a heart attack. 

"Relax." He whispered before pressing his lips to mine. 

I sucked in a sudden breath, confused as hell. When he pulled away, he made the slightest movement of his head to the left, his eyes following the movement. He then bent his head to my neck and began placing kisses along my neck, his thumb rubbing slow circles on my thigh.

It was our target and her two buddies standing outside of a room, talking with what looked to be an employee. Oh. Well, that explained a lot.  

And I totally wasn't feeling disappointed. Or distracted. Not at all. 

I let out a breathy moan for the sake of our act, and pretended to flutter my eyes shut, leaving them barely open enough to watch them. 

Aside from a general once over, the guards barely gave us a glance and the trio entered the room, the poor employee being dragged along. He probably wouldn't come out of there alive. 

The burning in my throat flared up at the thought and I clutched at Alec's shirt even more, causing the second button to pop off completely.

He raised his head, eyebrow arched ever so slightly. 

"Sorry. The smell of blood is making me thirsty." 

His eyes roved over my face for a minute before nodding. That was the only gesture I received saying that he understood before he leaned back in and brushed his lips softly over mine and nibbling on my bottom lip.

I tensed. "Alec, they're gone. Th-there's no need to pretend anymore." 

He didn't say anything, and simply gave me one last lingering kiss before setting me back down on the floor and turning away. He leaned against the far side of the wall, listening intently to the conversation on the other side. 

I tried to do the same.  

Then after a few minutes: 

"Who said I was pretending?"

Commentary on Ai and Kamiki's character

I just can't shut up about them, can I? Since the new chapter will be dropping in just a few days from now (and I personally think there will be more reveals) this is probably going to be my last chance to discuss about them before things get clarified and set in stone once and for all (since we NEED to learn about just what HAS been going on about Ai's bf and his motives!! It's going to be shown to us in this final arc, right)

Here's how I feel about Ai/Kamiki as a character so far from all the things I've seen about them. Let's see how much of it will stand by the end of this manga(and/or the upcoming chapters)

I think they're well-written/would be well-written. I like how Ai's written for one thing, and Kamiki's past made a lot of sense to me, I think it can add on to something really interesting. I thought I got where it's going to get at.. that's why I've been drawing them so much since the latest chapter... hope I will be able to retain this interest and passion because having something to be excited and inspired about is a wonderful thing!

I'm writing a lot, like light writing (when I focus on something, I think about it a lot), and it might decrease or, depending on the situation, increase when the next episode comes out. There's nothing revealed yet, so I end up thinking a lot.

I think Ai is really a strong person. To survive in the entertainment industry, there must be so many things to think about. When I see that character, I think about those things. Although she has a soft side, she fundamentally seems like a character who lives really hard. Thinking about it, she was young herself, yet she protected her boyfriend and helped him escape from his abuser. She endured quite firmly under tremendous stress.

She's the type to bear everything alone... There are many things she endures, and in that situation, she worked hard to reach the top, and she wanted to be a good mother to her children. The most heartbreaking thing for me in this character's dialogue was when she said in her dying breath, "I wasn't a very good mother, but I still think it was good that I gave birth." That was so sad to me. I thought that was the saddest part. She had many thoughts. I noticed she thought she had to earn a lot to provide good education and conditions for her children. Middle school kids aren't necessarily shallow in thought, and while there's a range between people, I felt they were still serious and mature considering their age.

For a character like her, if she were in front of me, I would want to say that she's amazing and went through a lot of hardship. Before pointing out what she did wrong or lacked, I'd like to acknowledge that she lived with a lot of effort and loved those around her. Ai's efforts were not just for herself, but she had a rather humble character, and it seemed her motivation to strive was significantly for the happiness of those around her. Like when she wasn't sure if a dome concert was such a big deal but then thought it must be good since it was the president couple's dream, and she smiled along with them. For this character, what's important is resolving the curiosity about the lack in her heart, and achievements as an idol seemed secondary. That's why her saying she wanted to live with Kamiki and raise children together struck me, because for Ai, being an idol felt more like a means than an end. That doesn't mean she didn't try hard; she seemed like a responsible person who strives to meet expectations in her work.

Ai is a character who, through hard work, perseverance, and talent, eventually gets what she wants. Ai has a great curiosity and desire for areas she doesn't know well. She knows what she doesn't know but has the tenacity to not give up until the end. I think that's a strong aspect of her.

As for Kamiki, since it's unclear what his plans are at the current point in time (although I have a guess), if I were to describe the impression of him until just before he separated from Ai,

He's simply pitiful. He self-deprecatingly said that his relationship with Ai was one where he was unilaterally dependent on her. While he might have depended on her a lot, it seems Kamiki had to endure alone until the point they met. He grew up in such a broken situation that I don't even want to deeply think about what it must have been like... From what we see, it seems he wasn't just harmed by one person. Ai had President Ichigo at least worrying about her, and people to take care of her children when they were born, but Kamiki didn't seem to have a proper guardian at all. His exceptional looks might have made his situation even worse. He was just left alone in the world, and it wasn't just being alone, he had to endure all the malice and exploitation by himself.

You know how some adults appear in the movie arc, like Kaburagi and Kindaichi? This shows that the adults failed to protect the kids. The adults might have been busy with their own lives, but I don't think they can be entirely absolved of responsibility for the kids being in such situations.

Anyway, in that situation, Ai appeared to Kamiki, and I think Kamiki couldn't help but love Ai, who understood, accepted, and loved him more than anyone else. Ai also saved him. The fact that he sought help from someone only a year older than himself shows how vulnerable he was. It's just so heartbreaking. He must have liked Ai a lot... Fortunately, they connected emotionally, and Ai also liked him and wanted to help him. But Ai was powerless. Until just before she had her children, I think Ai tried her best in her own way. When Kamiki came to her, completely broken and crying, she took him in because she wanted to help him somehow.

But it’s sad that Ai couldn't even rely on her boyfriend... This really needs to be shown from Ai’s perspective too. She became Kamiki's emotional support, but it seems Kamiki couldn't do the same for her. However, I think Ai’s defensive nature also played a part... She absolutely didn't want to show weakness. She was a perfectionist. The others also played a part in this, as shown in the song IDOL. she was pressured by those around her to not forgive herself for not being perfect, so she couldn't let herself crumble or break down.

Still, Ai must have really liked her boyfriend. From the content of the video, it seems she was more worried about him getting better rather than feeling it was hard to help him. If she left a request to her children because she couldn't do it alone, that means she truly loved him. Asking her children for a personal favor about her boyfriend (even though he is biologically their father) shows that she was deeply concerned. (There’s a reason she left the request to her grown children; asking when they were young wouldn't have been fair, and adults are supposed to help children, not the other way around. For Ai, anything related to Kamiki was a lingering concern.)

I've drawn this couple a lot recently, not only because of Fatal being.. really obvious to me?? that it should be Kamiki's feelings and that it clicked and let EVERYTHING make sense but also because it’s confirmed that Ai loved Kamiki a lot too. Considering this, I think the storyline is not fully revealed yet. Kamiki is someone Ai desperately wanted to help, borrowing the strength of the protagonists, even. This is revealed not at the beginning but at the very end, indicating his significance. That must mean there are some things that we'll be able to find redeemable about him. Or at least, he must be a character who evokes a lot of sympathy.

Looking at this narrative, if Kamiki is willing to do anything for Ai, it makes a lot of sense. I was holding off on judging the depth of Ai's feelings until that video scene (you see how careful I'm about it in the analysis I've made about Ai), but it’s been clear that he was truly happy with her on his end. When I saw the lyrics for Fatal, I immediately knew it was from his perspective... it’s clear he has deep feelings about her. The emotions in the song matched, so I looked into the song's content, and it was quite unsettling, giving me the strong impression that he took a wrong path. His character was exactly as I thought, so I wasn’t surprised. He suits well with Ai. Isn't the younger version of him, really soft?? Ai isn’t the type to be dragged around. If she had a boyfriend who's younger than she was, she would have acted like a big sister. If he had been older, it might have had a different sort of dynamic, but at their first meeting, he was even smaller than Ai, so instead of her being swayed, I figured he'd have been the one drawn to her. Seeing Ai hide who the father of her children was, yet genuinely loving them purely, suggests that she wanted to protect him. Their relationship must have been good. The calls felt like Ai had the upper hand. However, you can't predict when someone will snap, so until his appearance, it was all speculation. But everything turned out as expected, along with the emotions they had regarding each other.

I don't know the current state of this character, but it feels like something significant has happened. Because of that, there's been a drastic change about him, but it's clear that this character really loves Ai. I keep mentioning it, but from the character's perspective, it couldn't have been any other way. So, I thought, "Wow... the writing was well done." The key point is how far Kamiki can go with such deep feelings and how it might become distorted, deviate, or turn into a mix of love and hate, depending on how it's handled.

At least, as the lyrics suggest, he loves her to the extent that he would do anything he can. I believe that has been made clear, so I think the development will inevitably go that way.

His past is just so miserable that I want to hug him and tell him he suffered a lot. Both him and Ai. And I want to arrange for them to be protected by adults who can give them lots of love and care in a clean, good environment. It’s no wonder Kamiki felt like there was no one in the world but him and Ai, which is such a sad situation... But there must be lonely kids like them out there. I hope those kids can receive the love they deserve.

I was actually a bit interested in the area of social welfare. However, it’s a very tough path, so I didn't dive so deep into it... While reading the manga, my thoughts wandered in that direction because the characters were in such vulnerable states. This sort of situation isn't 100% fiction.

I once did volunteer work in education, and honestly, the kids who have gone through tough times are much more mature and resilient than I am... They know things I don’t, and I believe that. But they are still young. It’s not about underestimating or dismissing them; at that age, they shouldn't be experiencing such things... It's an age when they should be receiving love.

In my opinion, the likelihood of major character inconsistencies or setting errors with the protagonist’s parents is quite low. The scenes they get are significant but short, so the characters are likely to come out as initially planned. And honestly, how cunning or wicked can two middle school kids be? This isn’t pure fantasy; the manga heavily borrows from reality. So, I liked how their past was revealed in this manner. The key is how things will unfold next, and it’s hard to predict completely.

When I first heard the song IDOL, I immediately thought, "Oh, this character is really struggling." (I mention this a lot but) I can't claim to understand everything since I haven't led such a turbulent life, but I still felt sorry for them. If I were in that character's position, I don't know if I could have lived as earnestly... However, when considering why the character made such choices, I can sense that it seems to come from their own efforts and concerns. Many situations arose consecutively, and I think Ai, as a character, tried her best within them.

And Kamiki is really something else. When he was breaking up with Ai, I didn’t mention much about what he heard, but Ai is really sharp. Even if she didn’t know what the consequences would be later, she said exactly what she needed to achieve her desired result (Kamiki leaving her). It wasn’t cursing, but the words were very cruel. I predicted that he wouldn’t be able to hold onto Ai when they broke up, even before the episode was revealed... LOL. But he ended up hearing such devastating words that he couldn't say anything back and was just left dumbfounded. Those words must have really hurt. I even felt emotionally wounded along with him! Ai is truly remarkable... When you watch the video, you can see that she really loved him, but to be able to say such things to someone she cared about... I don’t think I could do that because it would break my heart. As I mentioned when analyzing Ai, she just did what she thought was the best. She didn’t like herself very much, so it was more important to protect him from the burden of being with her than worrying about him hating her.

Kamiki, on the other hand, talked about those words to his son, saying, "Ai left me because she found out what I did, and it was natural and unavoidable." He has no anger. His self-esteem is very low, and he feels very sad. Although he mentioned that Ai had selfish and cruel sides, the first thing he feels is self-loathing... He believes it was natural to be abandoned, and he thinks he has never been loved by anyone. There’s a scene where he is walking hand-in-hand with Ai, looking so happy, and it’s described as if just being with her made him feel like he could overcome anything. But he accepts that she thought of him that way, which is so pitiful, isn’t it?

Would a character in such a state try to harm Ai? I don’t think so. If he were going to be angry, it would have been then. But I think both Ai and Kamiki knew that he wouldn’t retaliate even after hearing such words. This shows their personalities very well. When Ai said they should break up, he's able to suggest that they get married, this character... has no pride when it comes to Ai... It’s pitiful. He must have been like that in the payphone call too. It’s obvious that he wanted to meet again, saying he “clung on.” People say clinging isn’t attractive, but it seems he did so timidly. He probably couldn’t even speak firmly, and when Ai said no, he was likely left speechless again.

What happened to make him like how he is now? (But if you look at his lines, it doesn’t seem like he changed that much. He still says, "Because of me, because of me," in front of that dying actor. He blames himself for what's happened, and I wonder how it happened) I think this character needs to see a psychiatrist. He seems extremely depressed. It’s not a fair comparison, but his self-destructive behavior feels even worse than Aqua’s, and it’s understandable... Aqua still has people who love him, but this person!! He really has no one!!

Seeing the video of Ai and being so shocked... yeah, it's totally a natural reaction for him. He really didn't realize that Ai loved him in the SLIGHTEST. But if we consider whether it was Kamiki's fault that he didn't know, I don't think it was. Aqua showed the video as part of his revenge, but although Kamiki's heart must have been torn and he felt like dying... did he really do something deserving of revenge? I say that’s actually questionable. If he had killed Ai, then "revenge" would make sense, but it seems like he contributed less to her death than what he even told Aqua. Now that he knows he was loved all along, it will be interesting to see what kind of reaction comes out. Sigh.. so they had mutual feelings towards each other, so it's good, right? Their lives have been so unfortunate. Depending on what Kamiki did in the middle, it might determine whether he deserves such harsh words, but for now, that's my impression.

These two characters seem to be well-written (from a constructed perspective). Ai is really well-written, and Kamiki seems that way too. The chance for them to be happy together disappeared with Ai's death... who knows what will happen next...

Songs like "Mephisto" or "Fatal" really seem fitting. That's why I think those songs are related to Kamiki... the lyrics are so intriguing, so there must be something there.

I pulled the sweater on, running my fingers over my head to tame the static flyway's. I felt the distinct pressure of attention on the back of my skull, and with a smirk, I glanced over my shoulder.

"You're being such a creep right now."

"Am I?" Peeta replied from the other side of the closet. He didn't even pretend not to be staring at me. He just smiled shamelessly, standing there in his socks, boxers, and nightshirt, watching me as if he didn't see me every day. "You just look really pretty."

I rolled my eyes and walked over to the full-length mirror. "Okay," I said, braiding my hair with practiced ease. "If you say so."

"I do say so," he replied amusedly, going about the business of getting dressed for the day. I rolled my eyes, forgetting about the conversation as I assembled my list of tasks for the day. With my braid tied off, I started digging around the closet for my bag. I'd need something to carry the shopping back home with.

"Why do you always do that though?" Peeta asked, but my mind wasn't present, so he had to speak up again. "Katniss? Did you hear me?"

"Hm?" Aha, there it was. Why did I always have to throw it on the floor? "Did you say something?"

"I just asked you why you always roll your eyes when I say you look nice."

"I didn't roll my eyes," I refuted, wondering if we were going to end up having an argument over something.

"You know what I mean, you just always blow it off." he clarified, coming around to my side so he could smile in my direction. Okay not an argument then? "You look nice."

"Thanks," I said with a reluctant tone, rolling my eyes.

"See!" Peeta pointed at me. "Why do you do that?"

I gave him an unimpressed look. "Seriously? Can we just go?"

"Yeah, I guess." He shrugged; sounding put out.

I sighed, "are you mad at me?"

"What? No," Peeta laughed. "Why would I be mad?"

"Then why are you trying to have a fight?" I was exasperated. "It's like you're looking for something to be mad about."

"I'm not mad!" Peeta insisted with another laugh, he looked very confused. "I was just asking."

I crossed my arms, "You're being serious?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Oh," I looked down sheepishly, feeling my cheeks warm with an embarrassed flush. "I don't know."

Peeta shook his head, he looked bewildered. "This is silly, let's just go."

"I just-- I don't know, I guess I don't buy it is all." I admitted with a shrug, turning towards the exit with embarrassment. Peeta stared at me with an eyebrow raised.

"What?"

"You asked!" I tugged at the hem of my sweater. I felt twitchy and weird, like a fish out of water. "Stop looking at me like that!"

"I'm looking at you because you're not making sense," He ducked down to make an incredulous face at me. "Why are you hiding right now?"

"Ugh," I scoffed, pushing him away. "I'm leaving."

"Wait! I'm supposed to be driving you!"

"I'll just walk." I sneered over my shoulder. Well, we were arguing now. I strode across our bedroom and out onto the staircase, Peeta hot on my heels.

"So, what you're saying is that someway, somehow, you, Katniss Everdeen, the prettiest girl to ever come out of District Twelve, think you're not extremely hot?"

I shot him a look over my shoulder, not even bothering to acknowledge that insane statement. I headed for the foyer.

"If you're coming with me, I'm going to need you to shut up."

"One, hurtful." Peeta commented flippantly, lowering my hand when I gave him the finger. "Secondly, I'm just being honest."

I made a face and turned away to pull on my coat, "sure you are."

"Why would I lie?" Peeta asked as he shut the door behind us.

"Hey guys!" Peeta and I waved in reply to our next door neighbor. "I borrowed the wheelbarrow, if you don't mind?"

"That's fine!" I called back, Peeta flashed a thumbs up. I hopped down the stairs and went to yank on the door to Peeta's truck.

"Ah, ah, ah, I have the keys." Peeta waved them above my head. I tried to snatch them, but he just raised his arm higher. "Tell me why you're pissed all of a sudden."

"I'm not the one that's mad!" I insisted.

"And yet you're yelling at me, yikes." Peeta snickered, his free hand palm out to fend me off when I smacked him. "Okay, okay, you're not mad."

"I'm not." I agreed sullenly, crossing my arms. I sighed, realizing he really wasn't going to let it go. "Fine, if you want to know that badly, I know I'm not particularly pretty, or nice, or tall because someone told me."

"Why does that sound so familiar?" Peeta frowned, the realization slowly dawning on him. "Oh, oh no Katniss."

"Yeah ."

"You're being unfair," He frowned at me, going around me to put his key in the door. "You know that," he said, sliding into the drivers side.

I was taken aback, "so you're not going to apologize?"

Peeta leaned an elbow against the open window, "are you actually mad about that or are you using it as an excuse? Because if you really hadn't forgiven me for that you would have said something I'm guessing... six years ago."

I scoffed, rounding the car to climb into the passanger side. "Drive."

"Ouch, seems like I forgot how to do that." He leaned back on his seat dramatically. "I guess we just have to wait until my girlfriend starts being nice to me again."

I tried to glare at him but it was hard to keep the angry thing going when he was so clearly trying not to laugh. I groaned.

"Fine, I don't know. I'm just," I made a face moving my hands around to try to get the message across. "You know?"

"I really don't." He crossed his arms leaning towards me over the gear shift. "You seriously think you're ugly?"

"I," I briefly struggled to string a sentence together. "I guess? Just look at me. I could accept average, I think, on a good day."

He raised his eyebrows, "Wow."

"That's all you're going to say to me?"

"Wow, you're blind." He leaned closer to me, invading my personal space. "Blind."

"Can we go now," I gently pushed him away. "Please? I-just. I think Wendel is staring."

Peeta glanced out of the windshield, making a face as he put his key in the ignition. "Damn, I miss when we were the hermits of the District. Those were the days."

"Everyone thought we were deranged," I said dryly.

"But the privacy couldn't be beat." He turned to look out the rear as he pulled away from the house. Victor's Village hadn't originally been built with the intention of holding a car, let alone Peeta's massive truck, so he had to park in the yard and drive past the fancy wrought iron gate.

"We're not letting this go, just so you know." He said after he got the car on the road. "I'm just trying to keep all the neighbor kids alive."

"I don't want to talk about it anymore."

"Good thing I can talk for the both of us," he waved at an approaching figure. "Hi Mrs. McAlister! Lovely weather we're having. I'd love to stay and chat, but Katniss and I have to get going. Oh! Okay!" He laughed at Mrs. McAlister's usual joke. "Okay, see you!"

"You could roll the window up, you know." I said bitterly for no reason.

"I'm going to pretend you didn't say that because I'm a very nice man." Peeta retorted. "And because we're in the middle of a self-image issue."

"Ugh, you sound like my mother." I cringed thinking about her new 'therapy is the way' approach to life.

"Wha-" Peeta glanced at me with his mouth open, shaking with laughter. "Oh, by the odds, I try to tell you you're beautiful and you tell me I'm a middle aged woman. Where's the love? The poetry? You used to think I was the coolest thing that ever happened to you."

"I never thought that, you're delusional." I accepted the searching hand he placed on my lap, intertwining our fingers. "But thank you for saying that."

"I'm not just saying it, though." He leaned forward to look for an opening before he pulled onto the main road. "I'm being so deadly serious, Katniss. I think you're beautiful because you are."

"Peeta-"

"You have these eyes," he interrupted. "They're so intense. Like smoke. Sometimes, when you look at me it feels like.. God, it feels like fire. Like I'm going to die if I can't be near you."

I slammed my mouth shut, suddenly very interested in his new line of thought.

"You know, for a long time there I thought you couldn't get more beautiful than you already were. You were so serious back then, always frowning, like you were thinking about the hard stuff all the time. But then your smile. Katniss, I love your smile." He smiled at me then, before turning back to the road. "You have these funny uneven teeth, and on anyone else they'd look out of place, but on you? They're perfect."

"You like my buck teeth?"

"I love your little rabbit teeth," he said with a laugh. "And your hair? You have no idea how obsessed I am with you hair. I used to wait for you to fall asleep so I could smell it. It made me feel like a creep."

I laughed, "I knew about the hair."

"And you haven't left me? Wow, you must really like me."

"Just a bit," I agreed leaning over to kiss his cheek. "Thank you."

"Oh, I'm not done. I could write poetry about the curve of your nose. And your hands, even your lips. And we haven't even gotten to the dirty stuff yet. I think I actually did write something about how much I love your boobs once. It's in an old sketchbook somewhere."

I laughed, "I love you, dummy."

"Love you too." He honked. "Hey! Are you blind? Get outta the road!"

ex and bee - an overview of so far, my yays and nays and season 2 predictions

NB: spoilers for the entirety of season one!! listen to ex and bee here!!

- so far, so good!!

it's not an exaggeration to say that so far I have been invested into the series; I remember being excited and staying up for release times so I could listen to it before most, and internalize most of my excitement for the next "ex and bee fridays (at 3am)".

the voice acting in this project is an absolute treat. bringing some of the versed and talented voice actors from obey me and planting them into a project with arguably completely different tone from the former is fun! kada mentions how ex is much different from the characters he's usually type casted as, and all of them have openly expressed love and care for their characters. it is clear that they do not only do this as a job, but as a poignant passion.

a highlight was actually finding out that takuhei yamamoto was not only the 9-1-1 operator but also the voice of derek malcom.. although I'm the "voice actor super fan" I didn't recognize the voice until the very last episode credits. derek was a wonderful treat within the story; acting as a stereotypical blogger and social media superstar brought some level of humour, maybe just to me.. is it a crime to say I wouldn't mind derek becoming a reoccurring character? the more somber and serious tone of a detective investigation could use a character like him

(or maybe I just like yamamoto-san.. right..)

- however..

I did not like the handling of the reveal that ex was a dhampir. it felt.. very underwhelming; perhaps it was meant to swell up to this peak: ex isn't just an autistic detective interested in the occult, but a dhampir, capable of actually putting a stop to blod's tyranny, and I feel like such could've been handled much better than just a flashback, and ex basically telling us in this very..boring and plain way of reading a letter.. (i of course don't blame kada, i blame more the writing methinks).

and for me, i found that episode six (Web of Deception) was a much more exciting and thrilling episode; the revelation of the missing clock ticks, the discovery of elizabeth and Blod in the tomb and the dubbing of the former as a witch; this entire episode was just brimming with sequential finale energy. i liked the use of auditory clues instead of it being flat out described to us from bee's perspective..

blod's voice acting.. wow..sumi shinya's performance here is absolutely phenomenal. and the cliffhanger; bee absolutely hypnotised by power and blood and blod's ominous "Come to my side." ...

chills, literal chills.. it just made me sort of disappointed by the actual finale.

the use of a part-timer as a self insert is.. okay. personally I didn't care for them, so whenever they were mentioned in the story I sort of zoned out.. but it brings some subtle world building that I really didn't mind.

predictions, more like begging solmare.

honestly, as an overall great season, I'm not sure how they could top this!! my initial idea would be that since the solving of victor holloway's murder gave them so much money, perhaps they'd be able to go in a luxurious cruise (or not.. ex seems to be the frugal type). a cruise ship murder, though slightly cliche, has a lot going for it, and perhaps a derek cameo too!! I'd like the idea that bee still experiences subtle flashbacks and trauma from the events of last season, or perhaps some mind control from blod? looking at bee's design, you can see a dagger almost stenciled onto his palm; perhaps this is a physical sign of his old allegiance, an establishment of control (the sigil of a blood pact?)

i was very very intrigued by what blod meant by receiving the powers of "old vampires" through the vampire's bequest; could this mean he's more sensitive to light again?

i'd also like to mention that within an ex and bee live, they mentioned about the formatting of future episodes; i talked about this with a friend a while ago, but i'd really like to see a visual novel sort of formatting; like you're watching a playthrough of the game and seeing the characters move with live2d... maybe i miss the obey me stories, but many of the listeners are westerners, and so are more watching ex and bee than just listening, so why not add that element into the creation of it; i wouldn't mind still images of the characters, but i found the.. blurred artwork in the background of translated dialogue nice! i wish we got more artwork and higher quality art references..

I'd like to see a few obey me voice actors make their appearances (though, i feel like if you added the entire cast into ex and be...idk. it just rubs me wrong. one of the main selling points is that they're being voiced by the obey me voice actors.. but even just one or two returning would be fine.) my predictions of returning vas - kazuya yamashita and yu hirata..why? because i don't know. i hope the have roles where they're able to show off a wider voice acting range, especially hirata-san - perhaps a deeper voice and more mature character would be a nice change especially befitting for the story!

[EDIT: I might be mentioned it before, but I don't really want ex and bee to "become" obey me; it is its own unique project, and whether it's by coincidence that ex and bee shares voice actors from the latter is really up for debate. that being said, I've changed my mind on my latter point. TLDR: they shouldn't really add any obey me voice actors to the project, but it's not like I would MIND if they did. (im the va superfan.. why would I mind more of my fav vas staring in another project???)]

Riddle is currently far away from the prison, he was knocked out pretty much for the entirety of Floyd’s escape and has no idea where he is. He is technically in a cell right now... but in a different kind of cell.

Knocking him out wasn’t that difficult, Floyd just went ahead and squeezed him very tightly~ Until Goldfishie fell asleep...

Dark and heavy moments that are a lead up to a joke is honestly one of my favourite ways to treat comedy+drama, this is why we love Gintama so much (and also Osomatsu-san and also South Park lol). Bobobo really does sound like it has this same vibe.

About the response talking about antis, yeah it's hard for me to look for fics and fanart because I'll often run into antis...

I feel like part of it might be that they don't look at who a game is for or what genre it is apart from RPG/visual novel/ect, I don't think they know what joseimuke is (and I'm a still lil confused on the target audience of those as well, but I think it's mainly women with a disposable income?) and they think the target audience's age = casts' age, so since the cast is teens, then it's for teens by their logic...even though shows like South Park exist and I ain't showing that to a young kid.

I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they genuinely think they're helping people/doing good things/ect since a lot of them aren't adults, but I can't.  I just can't get that impression from them at all.  The "nicest" I can be towards them is that they're young and dumb and will hopefully grow out of it or they need therapy but can't get it for some reason and this a kind of cry for help

Let’s be honest: if they weren’t dicks about it, no one would even care. We all understand that people don’t like some things, and all of us don’t like certain categories of people in our own fandoms, this is just a human experience. Minding your own business is what matters, and this is what they can’t do.

The majority of them are young and dumb, and a lot of them will grow out of it (or switch their aggression elsewhere because they’ll lost interest in fandom stuff) though. Some won’t, but there always are immature people that are much older... this is where they’re coming from lol

Maybe some of them really do believe that they’re doing the right thing and genuinely don’t know better, but I think for a lot of them finding a convincing enough reason to shit on others is the entire point of fandom experience. So even knowing what joseimuke is won’t stop them, only them losing interest and moving away from these spaces will.

All we can do is shrug and wait... and block people left and right lol

I think Idia knows every single hentai there is, even if he hadn’t read/watched/played all of them. Alright, maybe not every single one, but quite a lot lol But at the same time, he strikes me as someone who would be into it art-wise and would legit watch porn for the plot. So his favourite eroges are the ones with engaging stories and good character writing... I guess asking for that from a hentai game is a tall order, but Idia would argue and rant about some of his favourite titles if he was told “it’s just porn”. It’s not just porn, it’s an entire experience, the buildup that makes the porn good!

I know a part of me wants to say that he would play “oniichan” kinds of games, but I think he would ironically stay away from those... it feels weird to him somehow... too embarrassing.

He also doesn’t mind really fucked up tropes and scenarios. He could look at a tentacle hypnosis scene or a scene where someone is pushing out an alien egg and say “heh classic”. Truly, the greatest enjoyer of art.

To us, the winner is Lilia both because we are very committed to this joke + apparently for bats dick-to-body proportions are insane, so I guess there is some meat (heh) to this joke after all.

The second one was Floyd, and I still think the Tweels are one of the hugest, but... Jack and Sebek are absolutely up there, and I think they’ll grow bigger and girthier. They’ll become the biggest ones in a year or two.

I agree that Rook is big, but I think Trey is longer than Rook while still being quite girthy.

We love Falena/Leona in theory; we haven’t dived into them because we haven’t seen much of Falena + don’t care much for Leona. Still, we are 100% supportive of this ship! Every time we rewatch The Lion King, I get more and more into Mufasa/Scar...

Regarding your question, it’s interesting because I think the default really is to think that it’s Leona who is obsessive over Falena, and Falena might not even have a clue about it (or have a clue but still choose to be a proper future king instead of fooling around with Leona). But it’s entirely possible for him to also be very into Leona, it could even be more fun this way.

I feel like Falena has always been an adoring brother and Leona greatly underestimates just how much Falena loves him. Not only he worries about his future and cares about him (that’s a given), he also is genuinely impressed by his wit and intelligence; I wouldn’t be surprised if Falena talks about Leona all the time lol Maybe he gets as excited as Cheka sometimes, which is endearing at first, but then feels like Falena is um... a bit too much into him...

Falena also feels like someone who would rationalise his feeling by thinking that him being a king and having a wife and a son is one thing, but being with Leona is another thing, their private special thing that could actually still improve things for the entire Kingdom: if Leona is by his side and works together with him, they will be unstoppable. This is something that Falena wants the most... even if it’s just a way to justify his desire to have access to Leona (and his body) all the time. He needs to give Leona some attention, right? He wasn’t able to do it lately, right? This has to change.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if they had a bunch of “iffy” moments when they were younger. A sudden closeness during sparring, a hug that lasted longer than anticipated, a bite that was meant to be playfully teasing but ended up being too sensual and dominating. That tension existed for a very long time, and it only gets stronger with time.

Anon, I am so happy you like these two this much. I feel like this awful history is such an obvious but tasty and amazingly working trope for them, it just works.

I guess it’s fair to say that Lilia went slow with his inappropriate behaviour, I honestly think that Silver didn’t even notice the switch, as if it was never there. He’s always been his father’s cute boy. Of course it’s just the way he remembers things... But he does remember the first time he had Lilia’s whole dick inside him!

But also yes, of course there had been a bunch of times when Lilia got too excited and overdid it with Silver. Even though Lilia did try to pace himself, I think he completely broke Silver all over like 10 times; and sometimes he is amazed that he turned out okay with what he went through. But he got better very fast! A miracle of true love <3

Xavier ! i knew you wouldnt be a terrible guy <3 thanks for not killing maddie, very funny, love the side plot with him and nicole, love how he's accidentally made his way through all her friends. truly he is just haunted by the narrative. nothing about it, just the narrative existing. its great comedy.

nicole is annoying at times; but that feels right. shes like the pj from bottoms of this show. and i enjoy that character. you need someone who just is always going to add some spice to the plan. make it go just slightly off. there wouldnt really be plot otherwise. aside from that she is very funny, the comedic timing the actress has is incredible. curious to see how her character will change with maddie back, i feel like theres a portion of personality that we'll get to see that we havent dynamically.

claire is cool as hell. shes probably my favorite of the living characters, she almost pairs to rhonda in that theyre both very determined to be stubborn. again with maddie back itll be interesting how that changes, and what fallout may look like over the nicole of it all. and why did we turn that light on i feel like that was an obvious one its fine. feel like we lost time with her this season in favor of nicoles older brother though. unsure how i feel about it as of yet.

yuris been a fun addition. love a cute couple im always down for a romance. the throughline of them having similar deaths is also a nice touch. outside of that, just a really sweet character. utterly hilarious that he just gave up on the bit though. it was a really good bit

quinn is lovely. truly the epitome of every band kid i have ever known. obsessed with what they're setting up with rhonda. that better be next season or ill be very sad. do need more though. feel like we've barely scratched the surface in terms of character outside of the band kid + rhonda crush vibes

WALLY !! my favorite living teddy bear <3 now yes ; he was a not so at all good guy in life. yes. however! he has done better! no longer is douche. is now! teddy bear. no but seriously hes really great i truly think having characters like him on screen is so important. i forget the line that maddie when shes snapping him out of the 80s flirt style bit; stuff like that is really nice to have in tv. also, hes just a sweetie. like even after all these years, one of the last things he has to unpack is that his mom could be shitty to him. he just sees people in their best possible light, (with the help of being dead for a few decades) and just like ; is this really nice thru line of the show. i want to say so much more but i fear i am too high to think out wally thoughts without getting lost in the fit. costuming did so well that costume. so simple. so perfect.

on the note of amazing - how this show managed to make me as sad as i was for the end of BG3??? a video game that takes like a month to play and is incredibly immersive ?? the same amount of sobbing ? the same amount of that sinking feeling of knowing whats coming is going to crush you ? oh congratulations to the writing, directing, i dont even know whoever helped achieve that soul crushing sadness oh it takes a lot to do that. its literally just Doctor Who season 9 finale, torchwood season 2 finale, BG3, this, and (please forgive me) scream season 2 episode 1. out of all the media ive ever watched. these ones left a mark on my soul of love. i love this art form. so dearly.

yeah i think thats my last main point. i love tv as an art form of storytelling. and this show is that. im like technically overhyping it, but only because teen dramas will never be considered like high brow, unfortunately. but often i find they have the best emotionality, the best character driven stories. the closest thing you can really have to the emotional intensity of live theatre. its just a phenomenal show. im truly shocked at how much it has impacted me in the past 4 days. like this is a small pile of tv shows and i love a lot of tv shows, but this is like iconic and discussed in museums (i swear to you one day there will be a tv museum if theres not one already its an art i scream as they carry me away)

anyways i love tv and this is really good tv if the creatives behind it happen to be on here and scrolled this far you made a really cool and good thing i hope you are proud because its really really good. thanks for the stories <33 (they're not on here and certainly not reading it let me be delusional though id rather hype them up than not and then have them not hear anyone hyping them up when they deserve it)

EDIT : omg i forgot simon entirely ; there would be no show without him for starters. for the first like third of my time watching it i thought the show was from a wattpad story that i read in like 2015 that i read and always thought would become a show - and in that (its gone now as far as i can tell so im not spoiling anything lol) the best friend named simon was the killer so i truly was misreading him for a lot of the story - but with that - hes actually kinda the best. questioned his sanity and went through so much but also literally saved the day countless times. great guy. so excited to see the chaos he gets up to as the ghost next season. truly carrying the show in terms of actual getting the show to function. the finale actually put a magnifying glass to that aspect really well. big love simon

i'm not anywhere with my work life yet, but i'd like to be somewhere political or legal and something with environmental/trade policy. i'm just not sure the direction to go and the one lawyer i knew irl is dead

Hi there! Thanks so much for the ask! I wrote the answer to what made me want to be a lawyer over here and that covers the first part of how I got into environmental law. Here are some other relevant parts of my process, hopefully without being overly discursive.

- Went to a law school with a very good public interest loan repayment assistance program. Kept me financially solvent and current on my loan payments while I was a low-paid government employee.

- Went to law school in a city where I could intern and law clerk at environmental organizations during law school. Clerked at a federal government agency all through my 2nd year. Worked at a well-known environmental ngo between my 2nd and 3rd year.

- Will spare you the part about the impact of the 2008 financial crisis on my career(I graduated in 2009).

- Clerked for a state trial court judge. Decided I never ever wanted to litigate.

- Judge got me an interview with the local public works department which, by sheer incredible luck, needed to hire someone to do environmental law. They hired baby lawyer me to be in-house and brought on a serious law firm as outside counsel. I learned so damn much from that firm’s partner who was our main lawyer.

- Was in-house counsel for the public works department for 7ish years. Learned a lot about water utilities and other stuff.

- Had a baby. Decided I did not want to go back to my job at the end of my maternity leave. There’s a lot more there but we’ll leave it at that.

- Started a one-woman law and consulting firm. Used the very many contacts I had made while working for the city to get clients. Made very very little money.

- By sheer incredible luck, one of my best clients, a small environmental restoration firm, had their general counsel decide to quit right as I was reaching a crisis point about how little money I was making. Got hired as general counsel.

- Learned a fuckton of real estate law and how to write really good contracts.

- Still miss the freedom and independence of running my own shop, but the steady paycheck is worth it.

The biggest developments in my career were partially down to luck. Most of the rest was from talking to people and making connections and striving to be the kind of person who people are happy to hear from when I call them up and genuinely want to help me when I ask for help. The reason I was in position to take advantage of those lucky breaks was the relationships I had with people.

I can’t tell from your ask if you’re in school and looking for your next step or already in the workforce and I’m happy to chat via DM if you’d like. But what I will tell you, regardless of where you are, is that environmental law/advocacy/policy is a massive field that can mean a ton of different things. My best advice is to keep an open mind and go after what’s available even if it’s not exactly what you thought you’d be doing. Never in a million years when I was working at NGOs in college and law school did I think I’d be doing water and wastewater utility law. But it was super interesting and gave me a phenomenal start to my career.

I used to tell students who wanted to do environmental stuff to try to work for the government early in your career because it gives you good perspective on all sides of the issues. That is maybe still my advice if you can get into a state or local government that gives a crap about the environment, but obviously this isn’t the time to be looking for environmental jobs with the feds.

I hope this is somewhat what you were looking for when you sent your ask! Like I said I’m happy to chat via dm or answer more asks. Mentoring and giving advice is seriously one of my favorite things at this point in my career/life.

So sorry if you’ve already talked about her and I just can’t find the post, but I would love to hear about BB!Sliverstream. I feel like the fandom and the books portray her as just generically loving and who’s whole life revolves around Graystripe and their tragic romance… But come on! She was breaking the code to meet him, she’s rebellious! She’s the daughter of Crookedstar! There’s so much potential there for a really fun character. But she ends up being nothing but dead warrior cats wife/mother number one

I've talked about her before but I'd have to go digging for it, so I'm just going to gush about her and everyone is gonna listen up. Because I love her. I love her so much. I love everything about her and her death and I think anyone who boils her down to just "a fridge wife" needs to read TPB again, and open their hearts and minds to the IMPACT that she had on the entire narrative

Because she DOESN'T just die to give Graystripe man pain. She hits EVERYONE, she drives the plot, she was a really well characterized cat and her death is heartwrenching!!!

First of all, I like the explicit fact that Graystripe and Fireheart are very young at the time. New warriors, almost immediately given apprentices.

In BB, I decided to make this one point where Bluestar bends the code to a disastrous result (in BB, you aren't supposed to have an apprentice until you're at least a year out). Graystripe should not have an apprentice when he's barely out of apprenticeship himself! Young people do dumb and wreckless things, question rules, they do what they want. And he ignores Brackenpaw to hang out with Silverstream.

And it's easy to see why! Silverstream's a self-assured, hostile popstar who is daughter of the leader and PRIDES herself in that. She has a great heart but will not follow rules she thinks are dumb, because she feels she is above consequence.

And she likes Graystripe because he's HONEST. He does what he pleases and if he takes an interest in you, it's genuine and flattering. He's funny! He's good humored and laid back! Fireheart is frustrated by this because he's responsible, anxious, and serious, but Graystripe CAN'T stay serious for that long.

He needs to live and relax. YES that makes him irresponsible and even avoidant-- and I like that a lot! But he loves with such raw devotion, never able to do what Clan Culture expects of him!

So NO WONDER these two ended up as cross clan mates. They're like peanut butter and jelly. Silverstream who feels above the rules and Graystripe who is loyal to people over clan. To them, the Code is a guideline

AND YOU KNOW WHAT?? THEYRE RIGHT!!!!

The code IS flawed!!! This IS a bad fucking rule! Their love IS stronger than this! The "Law of Loyalty" (my bb term for it) EXISTS BECAUSE OF THE SIMPLE TRUTH;

IF YOU LOVE CATS OF OTHER CLANS, AS FRIENDS, LOVERS, OR FAMILY, YOU SEE THAT THE DIVISONS ARE BULLSHIT

And that destroys the battle culture!! We SEE this in TPB, there are several times where cats will back off of fighting Fireheart because he's their fucking friend! He refuses to hurt Silverstream because she's his best friend's lover!!

And when she dies it's DEVASTATING. It wouldn't be the same if Graystripe's choices following her death were about choosing his lover over his home clan!

It's childbirth, as if she's being punished by StarClan for codebreaking! She wanted to deliver her children with her mate by her side, and had a horrible death on the rocks away from an experienced medcat. Cinderpelt blames herself for not being good enough to save her, destroying her confidence for several chapters until she can realize it was never her fault

And after this, Bluestar doesn't punish Graystripe... because she knows how awful it is to lose a mate from another Clan. Her death should be enough; in spite of the baying from the Tiger Clique for a harsher sentence.

Like... what frustrates me most about Silv is how the later books reduced her, for a period of time, into JUST a sweet nicey fridgewife that gives Graystripe permission to move on. She was fierce. She was assertive. She is the person who said, "If the law says my love is wrong, then it's the CODE that's incorrect!"

I wish she kept that ferocity in Graystripe's dreams and memories of her. A voice that would tell him that his heart has never lead him astray, even when others told him he was on the wrong path.

It was nice to see her return to some form with a spike of jealousy in TBC, and for as much as I hated Leopardstar's Honor, at LEAST it remembered she wasn't a sweet nicey waif.

So in BB I plan to change very little. BB!Silverstream was beloved by a lot of people, and people will fight for her name. Her death has a huge, negative impact on Graystripe and he never totally gets over her death, even while he's raising his new family. During TigerClan, her children are stripped of their names and slapped with cruel Dishonor Titles (Stormpaw to Graypaw, Featherpaw to Silverpaw), to remind them of how their birth killed their mother, and that their father is not here to pay for his crimes.

This infuriates her friends and family, and Deerfoot's rebels are joined by them in their guerilla opposition of TigerClan.
