DEMOLITION IS FINISHED!!!
they ripped out a bunch more stuff than we'd been expecting and the air is super thick with particulates but the demolition part of water mitigation is DONE. It already smells better out there, less like mildew and more like just normal wet wood. Super weird and cool to see the guts of the house you live in. I lived in a half-finished house (that I helped build) for a big chunk of my childhood but it was built on a concrete slab so the whole crawlspace thing is fascinating. They had to lift away a big section of the subfloor to get fans in under the house. Unfortunately demolition also revealed much much older damage to the subfloor from some kind of long-ago toilet issue probably, based on where it is? So fingers crossed fixing that isn't gonna mean a huge hassle.
They took all the plywood off the affected areas of subfloor and it's just. Fuckin boards in there.
BUT we have fridge access which we did not expect to have! And some access to the kitchen sink although I wouldn't want clean dishes in that room right now, the air is like. Chewy.
Cupboards will still be inaccessible for a few weeks probably.
And we can get to the laundry machines easily which was another big unknown!
I'm so relieved and so exhausted and trying not to be too anxious about what'll happen when new floors get put in.
