Spirit of Justice spoilers (6-4)!

i went a full game without thinking too deeply about it, but now that we’re here…

i haven’t finished the case yet but it is so silly and fun! a great breath of fresh air after 6-3 (which was harder than i expected it to be /pos).

looking back at the series, it’s pretty funny how far we’ve come with attorneys’ attempts at projecting prosecutors’ and defense’s adversarial relationships in court. we went from edgeworth trying to cover up having allied w the defense in 3-5 to simon jumping from the gallery to athena’s aid, right in front of the judge in 6-4. does someone wanna call that out or…?

the whole balloon thing w geiru gave me a good chuckle. good ol’ udgey.

really really loving the banter between simon and athena. it’s pretty clear he dotes on her. her respect for him is easy to see as well. nahyuta fits really well into this dynamic. i’m liking him tbh!

WHY IS HE SO SASSY LMFAO

i love when you think a character is gonna be serious (talking first impressions during DD) and they end up being either a cringefailure or a boyloser, sometimes both.

i’m also really happy with how DD and SOJ have emphasized the diff skill levels between WAA’s lawyers. some of the contradictions athena can’t pin right away are things i imagine apollo or phoenix could spot. now that the initial shock of athena’s gimmick has worn off, i actually don’t mind it. athena has really grown on me. you can tell she’s quite young, so props to SOJ’s writing team for that.

My favourite page from the Complete Character Book <3 (no duh!) I love Ito Yu's art a whole bunch, and even though the art style and character designs were what got me to check the show out in the first place, I don't think Chiba's anime adaptation fully does it justice. That's because the anime has a very rigid, hard-shaded look, while Ito's art has this soft, voluminous three-dimensionality to it. Especially when it comes to hair and cavernous clothing that seems to engulf the characters. It's so unique. I also like her preference for a more stocky build with her characters, gives some variety from your typical noodle anime silhouette. Plus the endless variety of facial features on display. Her rough drafts for the show are a display of incredible skill and talent all on their own. Here's some interesting notes on the page:

Shino's particularly wide shoulders are to differentiate him from Akihiro, who is wide and sturdy all over, and from Orga, who is slim and narrow like a straight line.

Akihiro is built like a judoka, he always tucks his shirt in.

Shino is built like an olympic swimmer or a basketball player.

His shoulders are really wide.

Further notes on Shino: Both ears pierced, cheerful, muscular, short hair, Latino appearance.

The crying Shino sketch is from when he's mourning Denji, the quote above says: "Didn't you say that, Danji?"

When Yamagi's hair is lifted it reveals his beautiful face with japanese features.

Yamagi is beautiful but he's also strong.

Yamagi has small, short eyebrows and a shallow nose bridge.

He's quiet and unobtrusive but he likes being with everyone else.

Tekkadan uniform was designed by Juuki Maejima, Ito Yu's husband. Jackets and pants are a common feature, underneath are random t-shirts and tank tops. Yu's comment on Shino: "Initially he had short dreadlocks*. To be honest I thought he was going to be a very minor character, kind of a small fry (lol). It was a great surprise to see him become such an active participant. I didn't expect it to be an ensemble drama which gave spotlight to so many characters, I thought the other Tekkadan members were rather minor characters at first. They've all become important people." Yu's comment on Yamagi: "My impression of him was someone of asian descent, so I was surprised to see that he ended up blonde. His hairstyle seems to reflect the director's image of an introvert. It's only when Shino caressed his head that both his eyes were revealed, and I think that's why grown-up Yamagi in the last episode decided to lift his bangs and show both his eyes. Grownup Yamagi wasn't something included in my proposal, I was very impressed with the artistic skill of showing his whole heart at a glance with just a single image." *I have also seen it mentionned on twitter that Shino initially also had a lot darker skin. As a result of several edits he gradually ended up looking more like Asian/Latino mix. The reason why his design was changed were never given, but my take is that dreads were deemed too difficult to animate for someone they thought would be a minor character.

My CRK hot takes (character edition)

Yeah, you knew this was bound to happen. So, here are my Cookie Run Kingdom hot takes! Please do not read beyond this point if you are easily offended by someone else's opinion because I do not feel like listening to some of you guys whine in the comments.

So, here they are lol:

Ok, now let me explain my takes! I couldn't really fit everything into the comic, because they're just too small and I don't think I can do it justice. So, here are my explanations!

1.) "Black Pearl is an overrated character and didn't deserve to be Cookie of the Year."

I honestly do not understand why she’s so popular, other than that her design is pretty and she’s VERY good skill-wise. Other than that… there’s nothing really that I like about her. Don’t get me wrong, she’s not criminally offensive compared to other characters, but all she is to me is a simple rehash of Dark Choco Cookie’s character, but worse. If anything, Sherbert Cookie should’ve been Cookie of the Year and not her! He’s an amazingly written character compared to her and I actually feel very sorry for, unlike Black Pearl. The only reason why she got Cookie of the Year is that she’s pretty. That’s it.

2.) "Clotted Cream can go fuck himself."

I despise this character with a passion. I also do not understand the appeal of Clotted Cream. There is just something about him that I just do not like! The moment I laid eyes on him in Cookie Odyssey, I immediately thought he was the man behind the slaughter and I feel like that was also half of the fandom at the time when Cookie Odyssey was released. Do I even need to mention the scene where he confronts the ancients with Dark Enchantress Cookie’s identity? I mean, yes, it should’ve been said, but holy fuck he could NOT shut his fucking mouth! Besides, HE started the whole damn thing! If anything, Dark Cacao should AT LEAST knock some fucking sense into him. I would not be even mad. Also, he’s fucking annoying to me. Why does he not have a British accent?! WHY?!-

3.) "LicoPom is a good ship"

I stand by this and I shall explain myself now. Both Pomegranate and Licorice Cookie are shitty people and they both treat Dark Choco like garbage. The ONLY reason why people say this ship is bad is because Pomegranate is shitty towards Choco. Y'all, you DO realize Licorice also uses Dark Choco as a punching bag too, right? Not only does Licorice throw Dark Choco under the bus by mentioning him to get him in trouble, but ALSO calls him names. Not to mention that Licorice is treated the best by Pomegranate, compared to the others, and you can see that they care about each other (at least, Licorice does, at the end of episode 14, where he tells her that she's hurt and they need to retreat.) They deserve each other, honestly.

4.) "The Heroes of the Dark Cacao Update is THE BEST CRK Update."

Do I really need to explain why? I mean, this update is CARRIED by its story ALONE! Not to mention we got Dark Cacao: One of the BEST written characters in the entire game, Affogato Cookie, Caramel Arrow Cookie: Dark Choco's wife/j and certified Girlboss, and we got to learn more about Dark Choco Cookie as a character! Whoever says this update is bad is a liar-

5.) "Sea Fairy is a mid character"

I don't think I need to explain why. We know very little about her, even after the Mermaid update we only know that she's connected to the Mermaids and that's kinda it. I mean, I don't hate her at all, but I wish we had a little more info about her.

6.) "Pudding Cookie should be introduced into Kingdom for the next Krima update"

Ok, not much of a hot take but more of an opinion. I mean, c'mon! Look at her!! We need an update where she's introduced along with other Christmas Cookies with their own little story, like in ovenbreak! Please, Devsisters, do it-

Ok, that's all of my hot takes I have so far. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna lose some of my followers for these takes- (thank you for 400 followers btw!! It really means a lot!!) but I say it's worth it. i'm seeing too many complaints about astrid's live action casting and not enough about the idea that anyone other than jay baruchel can do hiccup justice

like im sorry, but if hiccup doesn't sound like the most awkward nerd-ass canadian on the planet, it simply is not hiccup. We saw in riders of berk and race to the edge that other voice actors could be replaced well enough (sometimes I actually liked the series version more - snotlout specifically) but hiccup?? hiccup IS jay baruchel. jay baruchel IS hiccup.

don't get me wrong - i genuinely hope it's good. I don't have high expectations because both dreamworks and disney have been consistently disappointing me for years now - but I really REALLY want it to be good. I want to enjoy it and squirm around in my theatre seat and cry at every emotional scene. I'm just really scared that they're going to try and recapture a magic that cannot be (and does not need to be) remade, especially not in the cynical manner so many remakes and sequels are being pumped out of late

edit: also there's little about the way astrid looks that has a huge impact on her character, and I think anyone with good acting skill would play her well.

best case scenario is that this is going to be a sandman/interview with the vampire/house of the dragon situation where people go "oh no woke," but then it's really good and people remember that having a black actor play a character who was originally white won't make it bad

worst case scenario is that the movie is bad - not because of diversity, but because of greed and lazy writing, and intellectually lazy/"im not a racist but..." type people will blame it on wokeness

man...I just really want another animated series with the original characters...or more comics...is that so much to ask???

5th day of Christmas - Cookie Decorating

I'm dedicating this to Elisa for giving me so many good ideas for this challenge. I love you and you're the best and I hope this story does your idea justice.

It's just cookies! (Archeron Sisters Bonding)

If anyone happened to enter the kitchen of the townhouse, they would probably be extremely confused at the sight before them. Alarmed even.

Feyre stood hunched over a tray of cookies, a look of pure concentration on her face as she gently drew different patterns with the pipping bag in her hands. Stars, and snowmen, and Solstice trees appeared under her sister’s talented hands, each one looking more mouthwatering than the other.

On the other end of the counter, Nesta stared at the tray in front of her with disdain, holding the pipping bag in her hands with what could only be described as a death grip. There were already two cookies decorated, though Elain couldn’t be quite sure of what they were supposed to be. She wasn’t sure Nesta knew either if the frustrated look on her face was any indication.

When Elain had first suggested to her sisters that they all bake cookies for their family it had been a fiddle attempt at spending more time with them. Sure, she had only vaguely mentioned the fact they’d be baking them from scratch, but Elain had been confident enough in her skills that she had expected things to go smoothly. Looking around her, she couldn’t help but grimace, very much regretting the suggestion that any of her sisters step foot in the kitchen in the first place.

There wasn’t an inch of the kitchen counter that wasn’t covered in either burnt parchment paper or whatever ingredients had been used to bake gingerbread cookies (Elain couldn’t quite recall why cheese was one of them, but she tried not to think about it). Solstice-themed cookie cutters were pilled precariously by the sink, where every single baking tool Elain ever owned now seemed to be.

Out of the four batches Elain had originally planned to bake, only two remained. One had ended up in the trash, burnt and possibly toxic, while the other had been eaten by both Feyre and Nesta. Stress-eating, Feyre had offered as an explanation at Elain’s affronted glare.

Now, Elain couldn’t help but crave something to nibble on too. The baking should’ve been the hardest part of it, but Elain was close to tears as she watched both her sisters decorate the cookies. Between Feyre’s perfectionism and Nesta’s utter lack of talent, it was all Elain could do not to kick them out of her kitchen. Out of her house. Mainly as Nesta cursed rather colourfully for what was probably the tenth time in the past thirty seconds.

“Remind me again why I agreed to do this?” Nesta muttered under her breath as she tried to draw a smiley face on the snowman in front of her. At least that’s what Elain assumed she was going for.

“We’re bonding.” Elain said exasperatedly, hovering behind her older sister. “Stop squeezing the bag like that or else you won’t have any icing left for the other cookies.”

“I’d like to squeeze your neck, instead.” Nesta grumbled.

Feyre snorted. “I don’t think we’re very good at bonding, Elain.”

“If it helps, I don’t think you’re very good at baking, either.” Elain mumbled, biting her nails as she fought the urge to help Nesta. Her fingers were tingling with the need to reach for the pipping bag and just show her how easy it was to handle it. Or how unnecessary it was to completely strangle it.

Nesta eyed her cookies with a tilted head, then eyed Feyre’s cookies with envy. “How is it fair that I’m competing against Feyre? She’s a cauldron-damned painter.”

“This is not a competition.” Elain said, eyeing Feyre’s cookies. They did look beautiful, but Nesta didn’t need to hear that. Not when she was trying so hard. “This is a friendly, innocent activity. It’s just cookies!” She tried to be cheerful, but she feared she was edging lunacy. By the look her sisters gave her, she probably looked it as well.

“And if it were a competition, you’d at the very least get a participation medal.” Feyre smirked, ducking down just as a gingerbread cookie flew in her direction. She narrowed her eyes at her older sister. “That’s not very friendly of you.”

“Please, don’t waste anymore cookies.” Elain whined. At this rate, their friends would be lucky if they could get one each. “We don’t have the time to bake another batch and I refuse to bother Nuala and Cerridwen on Solstice.” Was she hyperventilating? It certainly felt like she was.

“Ladies,” A familiar voice sounded from behind Elain, but she couldn’t bring herself to turn around and watch as Rhysand strolled inside the kitchen. Not when it looked as if it had felt victim to one of Cassian’s drunken pranks. “Why is Elain having a meltdown?”

Feyre smiled, leaning against her mate as he reached her side. “We’re very bad at bonding.”

“And baking. Very bad at baking.” Elain added, mildly terrified as Azriel and Cassian too appeared in the doorway.

“Can’t be that bad, can it?” Cassian grinned, peering into both trays. He shrugged. “They look edible.”

Azriel grabbed a cookie, eyebrows rising as he tried to understand exactly what he was looking at. He didn’t seem to entirely agree with Cassian’s statement. “I’m guessing Nesta decorated these?” He asked, a smirk on his lips.

“Don’t be a dick.” Cassian said, chewing the head of a snowman. “They’re…” He tilted his head, narrowing his eyes as he eyed the plate in front of him. “abstract. Right, Nes?”

Nesta gave him a blank stare. “Sure.”

Azriel shook his head, trying to hide a smile as he eyed Elain. “Did you bake anything?” Was it her or had that felt more like an accusation than an innocent question?

Bastard.

She felt her face heat as everyone’s attention turned to her. “N-no.”  

Azriel narrowed his eyes, knowing smile on his lips. “Are you sure?”

“Why would she bake anything?” Feyre objected before Elain could say anything. “She asked us to do it with her.”

“And she trusts us.” Nesta added. Then paused, turning to her sister as if suddenly unsure. “Right?”

Elain nodded quickly, ignoring Azriel’s taunting smile as she focused on her sisters instead. “Of course I do!” She assured them, because she truly did.

Even if she had gotten up at dawn to bake a few batches as precaution.

Hi Crystal! Your timing is perfect, and I'm gonna combine these to ramble about my topic of the evening: Justice League Unlimited plays Wolfen and Warlocks

Some of the stone elementals charged forward to throw punches. Others cracked and split the ground, making it harder to approach them by foot. The biggest one, guarding the portal, created a ring of spikes to better protect it.

And Clark’s friends proved exactly why an RPG was the best choice for them to play, rather than a card or board game.

Wally annoyed different targets into following him into range of Diana’s fists. John pinned others in place for Shayera to strike and destroy. Clark and J’onn cast magical shields and restored health points, keeping everyone else moving, and when Bruce’s fairy reached the others to share what he’d learned about the portal’s crystal power source, the seven of them formed up seamlessly to go after it.

Even better, they all clearly had fun doing so.

And *I* had *immense* fun writing this nonsense, okay?

Picking out races, abilities, and stats for each of the seven, figuring out how to balance them against one another through the game encounter, picking the exact worst possible moment for Bruce roll a 1 and almost hit Wally's character instead of the final boss, which he is absolutely never going to live down, that's gonna become the running joke for however many chapters this thing goes:

Flash: "You missed! He was three feet in front of you, how could you miss-!"

Batman: "Shut. Up."

Flash: =D

But of course I've already determined how I'm going to have more fun with it, by bringing in Zatanna to play Storymaster so Clark isn't pulling double duty. And she gets invested, my dudes, full on spooky voice reading the intro blurbs, using magic to make a veil of mist around her spot at the table, bringing the map and character tokens to life for a bit of flair, so on and so forth

There will be other superheroes who get interested. Further interactions in twos and threes as the game spreads through the League. Robin hears about all this and pesters Batman to teach him to play, and between the two of them at home it basically turns into an extra training exercise, Bruce making use of the 'solve a mystery' aspect woven into most pre-made campaigns to teach Tim some more detective skills (this being the DCAU and not comics continuity)

I might even have Alfred insist on hosting one night, just so he gets to lay eyes on Bruce opening up his walls bit with friends- sorry, *cough*, colleagues. Tim will of course get to join in, and does NOT hesitate to grab the "You Missed!" joke and run with it like the little gremlin he deserves to be. Dick and Babs will be beyond delighted when he lets it slip to them as well >:D

And this is like. Full circle, for me. Rather emotional, when I think about it.

Few years back I was writing a scene for a story in a whole other fandom, and decided the kid main character and his best friend needed to be distracted from ongoing misfortune in the form of a new adult friend teaching them to play a D&D knockoff game. I didn't want to use *actual* Dungeons and Dragons, because where's the fun in that, but I felt I needed some actual Thing to use as reference rather than purely winging it. And thus, Wolfen and Warlocks was born.

Now, rather than making things up as I went along for that fic, I've got the Actual Game to reference, or at least all the materials meant for the first edition of it. Not put together or published, yet, but that's only because I'm still beta testing with the help of various friends - including @yogurtbear242, Player The First who gave the best reactions to unexpected developments and was an all around good sport despite not ever having played a tabletop rpg before, in-person or online:

MURDER IN HELIOPOLIS

LAITH ALAZRAQ OC INTRO

HPD Detective Laith Alazraq never thought he'd be assigned a real murder investigation - not with PATET taking care of the city. But PATET can't solve this one, and it's up to him to put his skills to work and do some good old-fashioned detective work.

A fair and just man, Laith has always wanted to play a role in upholding the peace and justice of Heliopolis. He grew up considering various careers, and while his own father would have preferred a medical career for Laith, in the end, he chose to join the HPD.

Married to the love of his life, Warda El Yazidi, Laith considers himself a lucky man. He has a lovely apartment in The Forest, an adorable cat called Saba, and a peaceful home life.

Unbeknownst to him, this new case is going to take him places he never knew existed - revealing to him grave injustices he just can't ignore, and information which puts him and his loved ones in danger. Laith's idyllic life is going to change forever.

Follow Laith as he investigates the murder of Cassia Grove, a successful businesswoman, and watch as the mystery begins to unravel to reveal an even greater crime.

Cassia Grove's death is just the tip of the iceberg.

Does Laith have what it takes to bring justice to the evildoers walking amongst them?

Laith is the protagonist of the novel as it is presented in the first draft, which you can read on Royal Road for free.

In this current revision and edit, I do plan on adding more POVs, but Laith remains the most prominent voice. That's why I'm working to make his personality and character more dynamic and interesting; as of now, I feel he's quite flat as a character.

To do this, I'm delving deeper into his character background, his history, and his influences. Heliopolitan culture is fascinating, and I want the characters to be the moving, breathing representations of the intricacies of this futuristic collectivist solarpunk culture!

Adam Jensen's timeline (so far)

I've worked out dates and his respective age. Though some month dates are fuzzy I've assumed, unless specified, that an event happened at the beginning of the determined year and carried through the year. All the known dates are confirmed on the Wiki.

1993 March 9th: Adam is born.

1998 5yrs old: Possible birth parents die in arson of lab

1998 - adopted by Jensen couple

2007? 14yrs old : high school captain of debate team.

2012 19yrs old : Possibly gains Associates degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, Detroit at this time or within the next few years.

2014 21yrs old: joined the Detroit Police Department. Possible Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Phoenix University and Ferris College at this time or within next few years through remote study or part-time.

2017 23yrs Old: Meets Megan Reed for first time.

2018, 24yrs old : joined the Department's SWAT unit, ends up leading second unit, thanks to his skills.

2019 25yrs old : starts relationship with Megan Reed.

2023 30yrs old : breaks up with Megan but stays friend and co-owns their dog Kubrick.

2025 32yrd Old - Megan starts taking genetic samples from Adam. (How does she do this? Most likely scenario is she gets hair off a hairbrush of his. I doubt from the way they interact that they are 'friends with benefits'.)

2026 33yrs old : After 13 years, quits DPD and SWAT after Mexicotown massacre. It's painted as if he is fired.

2026 (6 months after quitting DPD) : Joins Sarif industries on behest of Megan, who, unknown to Adam, needs access to his DNA to continue her research.

2027 34yrs old (May) : Attack on Sarif headquarters the day Megan was to go to Washington to present her research on rejection free augmentation. Adam is nearly killed and saved with augmentations thanks to Sarif and a contract stating he could do this to Adam in such event.

2027 6 months later (October): Adam returns to work, 6 months early yet fully adapted to his augments already. (normally takes longer for that many.)

2027 (Just before flying to Hengsha he is diverted to another mission) : romantic fling with Lady Katrina Sutherland, who is almost as augmented as Adam is, after a horse riding accident. She dies saving his life.

2027: Events of Missing link, where he discovers the organisation The Juggernaut Collective and a figure known as Janus.

2027 (near end of year?): He finds Megan and her team after investigations lead him all over the world.

2027 (end of year, little ice in Arctic due to global warming, not summer time) : the Aug incident happens. He stops Darrow and destroys Panchaea, seemingly drowning in the aftermath.

2027 : A week after the Incident and collapse of Panchaea, the rescue effort is changed to recovery and two days later a secret military team combs over the wreckage, finding Jensen.

2028 - 35yrs old: Adam wakes from coma in facility 451 in Alaska. 'Told his Sentinel kept him alive'. Gaps in his memory plague him, and he escapes with the help of Francis and Stacks, another patient. Jenna Thorne is an illuminati agent posing as a gov agent.

2028/ 2029 35/36yrs old- (December into Jan possibly description) : Detroit - Adam works with Francis to help stop old Sarif tech being stolen by thieves working for the Illuminati. Involves TF29 and Juggernaut involvement. Stacks dies after having a flashback to the Incident.

2029 36yrs old - (January maybe) : Because of events, Adam agrees to join TF29 US branch. Also joins Juggernaut Collective secretly.

2029 -End of Febuary - Criminal Past mission reportedly happens in Arizona, where Jensen goes undercover in a top max prison to find Hector.

2029 March/April? - Jensen moves to Czechia - Prague (Praha), transfers to Prague branch of TF29 under Miller.

2029 April?- First mission for Prague TF29 in Dresden, prevents an augmented terrorist using children as soldiers.

2029 Late October? : - Jensen does the Dubai mission and then events happen in Prague.

2029 November? : (takes 2 days from Prague to the safe harbour convention in London) London apex centre, foils plot. Returns to Prague a week later.

It drives me absolutely crazy when people say they don't know what cassandra is about. Because y'all I fucking know what it's about. I wanna say like 2 years ago. It might have been longer. But it also shows that she advised him not to release the song because it would be controversial. Which let us remember, The only reason that they went after taylor in the first place, Was because kanye was getting so much shit about how creepy and weird that fucking song and video were. Like, They one hundred percent ruined taylor's life to avoid consequences for their own actions.

Like personally, I was low-key traumatized by how many people were absolutely gas? Lighting me and saying that she was a liar when she didn't lie about anything. She barely even complained. And again, No, She wasn't " Canceled" In the sense that she didn't lose any money or fame, But it was still very traumatizing for her to go through that. His wife and bill cosby a person who had very recently been accused of rape. Then when she accepted an award and said " Don't let anyone take credit for your success" He and his wife got all of their followers to harass her and call her a liar. Also I don't know where that leak came from, But only a limited number of people had access to the video. So personally, I think, That it came from something around the time. Kim and Kanye broke up. Like I Personally think that taylor may have offered some sort of evidence to kim that allowed her to keep custody of her kids al la vigilante shit. And she asked them to "leak" the full phone call in order to receive that information. And she might have expected it to be this whole huge thing. But it ended up that nobody really gave a shit. Or maybe she didn't have anything to do with it, but it leaked because of whatever reason, And still, Nobody gave a shit. Which this absolutely infuriated me to at the time. I was like "JUSTICE" And I was the only person who even knew about it.

Anyway taylor, I know this is soliloquy, you will never see, But I was out there in the trenches in the streets. I was like "y'all. She never said it was okay. She didn't approve the video. Y'all are all calling her a liar For no reason!!!!" Like to this day. I am still so angry about this. It became popular to talk about how stupid she was or how out of touch she was or how racist she was. When she literally didn't do anything usually. And people would just like attack her for like wearing the wrong color. And they still do, Like so, many people criticize her and they know it's gonna get views because it's just gonna be popular to talk shit about her. That environment did not exist before. There was definitely a lot of people saying that she was just lame but that was true of everyone who was popular in music at the time. Like In twenty twelve I graduated high school, And when I went to college, everyone was making fun of hipsters, The phrase "I liked ___ before they were cool" was literally on everyone's lips. So, While yeah, it does suck that people were talking shit about her and how she was boring and not had a good writer even though she was, They were pretty much saying that about any popular white girl making music. And while they Did criticize her dating life, They were doing that for everyone else too.

After The whole phone call situation, The vitriol towards her never really went away. And someone mentioned it in a podcast. I was listening to, But they were like for someone who was just so inoffensive. As a person, people are so polarized when they talk about her. Like you Either absolutely love her or absolutely hate her. And by the way, Swifties did not become rabid until after this situation. Because like I said, we felt very gaslight because she literally didn't do anything wrong. And for years, All anyone's sad when they talked about her was just dunking on her. So unless you were like AP. H d level expert and taylor swift, Most people just thought she was an asshole. Like I've seen people say that. She never thanked Beyoncé for giving her time. After kanye stole her speech in the VMAs, But she is so nice to Beyoncé. And they have a good friendship. Like she sends beyonce flowers and she always hypes up Beyonce. I don't think they're bestie's. But I definitely think they have a good relationship. But you wouldn't know about that because at the time, This was pre eras tour, All you saw of taylor was criticism. Unless it was a swiftie talking.

And the other aspect of this that is similar to cassandra, the myth. Is that this was the beginning of kanye being unhinged. And I truly think if he had gotten the appropriate backlash that he should have gotten from the famous video. And he wasn't able to just put it on someone else like he did with taylor, He probably wouldn't be a nazi right now. Like I honestly feel bad for kanye More than anything else because it is so clear to me that he is having a Mental health spiral that is related to the death of his mother. I don't know if it's about her death, but like she was managing it with him before and he doesn't have that now. And if he wasn't rich, he would probably be in inpatient psychiatric care. That decision might have been easier for him to make. Or the people around him to make, If he had gotten the proper backlash for trying to harass. Taylor and bully her. But instead in that pivotal moment, He learned that he can pretty much get away with whatever he wants as long as he blames someone else. So even if you like kanye, It's clear that his fame is causing him to suffer. And the whole thing just enabled that suffering. Because no one held him accountable for what he did. And of course, Kim is worst of all here. Because she has a law degree, She is fully capable of making good decisions, And rather than calling him out and telling him that he was not doing something right, Or pushing back on the harmful behavior he did, She completely enabled his actions. And I think that's why Taylor gets more mad at Kim. Because when you look at kanye, he is just not in his right mind, it's very clear. But kim absolutely could have stopped this train at any point. But she took Shadow Touched that level, which only allows one ASI increase and it has to be a spellcasting stat, Cha in her case. After that she still always said her Dex was 15 and her AC was 13 without Mage Armor, which is accurate to Dex+2 and RoP+1. It was only after she reached level 12 that she finally started saying her Dex is 16, and this last episode was the first time she said her AC was 14, Dex+3 and RoP+1. I understand you might want to wait if she ever uses the extra proficiency to confirm Skill Expert, but I'm telling you that there is irrefutable proof she took Dex+1 at level 12. Add that to the expertise and it can only be Skill Expert.

At this point, I do not want to undermine the incredible work the other editors do, particularly focused on a lot of mechanics, housekeeping (creating new episode pages), and most crucially infrastructure which is not my specialty but the fact is I do pretty much all summaries, a pretty significant number of the edits to current materials particularly C3, Candela, and any one-shots; and pretty much all citations. This is effectively a side-gig for which I am not paid, and I have some (positive) stuff going on in my personal life that's taking up time as well. I do not want to discourage people from making suggestions - far from it - but the unfortunate truth is adding suggestions is, effectively, adding things to the bottom of a very long list and it will get done faster by not going through me.

A month or so ago someone got annoyed at something I said here and when I blocked them, took it out on the wiki (where they were ultimately blocked for vandalism). I am not obviously hiding that I'm heavily involved with the wiki and it does come up since that's often why I rewatch or revisit things, but I'm increasingly trying to draw a line between work I do on the wiki and my personal inbox. This is also just good practice since it's entirely possible that at a future date someone else will be elected into my position. Unlike the Fandom wiki this is not Supreme Court Justice style appointments; it's Congress-style elections.

I've seen all kinds of theories about the multiverse and how Folie à Deux is going to connect back to the Flash and Justice League and whatever else, and I just... no? I get that the new Flash movie plays with the multiverse, but that doesn't mean everything connects back into the multiverse. They can just exist as separate movies.

💛: What is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?

Okay, this is going to take some explaining but... Joker x Harley Quinn. Yes it is canon, but I've never even seen that as a romance in canon - to me the Joker just serves as a tool for Harley to discover herself as a character, not to mention that it's flagrantly abusive and it's a huge part of her story to get away from him and build her own life. It makes my skin crawl in canon, and I'm honestly shocked that it's one of the biggest ships for Harley on AO3 (fewer than her with Ivy, but still several thousand works).

I guess it's less the question of why it's a ship, since it is canon, and more the question of why it's so popular.

Oh man, that requires me to pick a favorite character first... you might get a few different answers here

For Harley, people tend to forget that she has a freaking PhD. She's goofy and bubbly but she's smart, and I've read way too many fics where they just make her into the airhead blonde trope.

Actually, no, that's a consistent problem. This is true of a lot of fandoms I think, but people tend to dumb down the characters so much without even seeming to realize it, and it annoys me. And I don't even think that it's people struggling to know how to write a smart character, I think it's more that they don't recognize intelligence when it's not equated with academics. Like... Rick Flag is an incredibly competent fighter and gunman, and a strong leader - that takes intellect, but people miss it because of how goofy it is to wrangle the Squad. Abner strikes me as a very academic guy, the sort who probably dove into books as an escape and picked up a lot of random knowledge because of that, but people miss it because he's quiet and nihilistic and all that.

I just... we see the stupid members of the Suicide Squad. They die literally immediately. The others survive (for the most part) because they have enough intellect to know how to choose their battles, to know their own strengths, to react to the situation, etc.. But people see a bunch of goofy superheroes and assume they all have to be dumb as rocks unless their abilities are overtly skill-based (like Deadshot)

I know I'm piggybacking off your answer but... Peacemaker. He was set up as the hot guy character in the Suicide Squad, he even got his own spinoff in lieu of any of the other characters, but I just don't get the hype. He just annoys me.

Ah, "friends," the first-ever fandom in which I was an active participant. I have such nostalgia for the series and for the fandom itself. I learned so much about engaging with strangers on the internet, how to use social media, and making edits on my phone (a skill that has been invaluable to me ever since, truly).

But I digress; that is not what you asked about, dearest anon. I apologize in advance because this answer is a bit long; I fully understand if you don't want to read all this, but your question got me thinking a lot.

I feel a kinship with Phoebe (ironic, I know, but my username actually has little to do with Phoebe Buffay and everything to do with Greek Mythology, but that's another story). Though I feel she gets kind of mean in later seasons, in ways that aren't very funny to me. Some of it is 90s/00s humor that wouldn't be acceptable today, and some of it is just teasing that my sensitive heart feels is going too far.

That said, I relate to her willingness to do anything for her friends, her fierce loyalty, her sense of justice and fairness, and her drive to create as a means of finding her place in the world.

I also, to some extent, can relate to her rudeness, despite my dislike of it. I have certainly had moments when I've taken a joke too far or said something I later regretted. I'd like to think that these moments of mine are more sporadic than Phoebe's are portrayed on the show (and, of course, I understand this is a sitcom and she's telling jokes which are meant to be comedic and nothing deeper than that. Plus the other characters have all said things to similar effect.)

As a child, I wanted so badly to be Rachel or Monica. But in the end, I think I'm the most like Phoebe. She taught me to have a level of confidence I don't see as much in any of the other characters. I could be wrong, but to my memory, Phoebe doesn't ever—once—change herself to suit someone else. In fact, she is perhaps the only character who never tries to alter herself, her personality, or her interests to get someone else's approval. She's authentic. She wears her heart on her sleeve. She does exactly what she wants, makes herself vulnerable to rejection, and does everything wholeheartedly and without shame or apology.

I feel I've done the same, in terms of largely sticking to my interests, but I used to be so insecure about it. I want to be more like Phoebe, and I'd like to think I get better at that with each day.

okay…so…on the subject of word count…i want you to sit down for this one LMAOAO so i finished planning out every arc i want to write and there’s. uh. there’s twenty four. TWENTY FOUR (24) 😱 literally even if each arc is only two 5k word chapters that’s still 240k words and i would be very surprised if every single arc is only roughly 10k words (for sure some of them will be but like the aegislash arc alone is going to be longer, the first arc that’s assembling reader and co will be longer, and many others as well) so this is going to be a genuine behemoth no matter what…i’m actually shuddering if the PROJECTED word count is 240k words then what will the ACTUAL word count be 😰⁉️

i think it could be like a mix of both…maybe reo makes the decision to evolve his kirlia into a gallade for serious and emotional reasons but he just can’t bring himself to do it and then the brawl event happens and he’s like HOLY SHIT I HAVE GOTTTTT TO ENTER and that’s the final push that gets him to start a genuine hunt for a dawn stone that he can use LMAOOO unfortunately he’s typically the voice of reason amongst the manshine trio so neither nagi nor chigiri say anything to deter him from his dumbassery they’re just like yeah okay whatever you want bud

Editaurus is someone who flips back and forth between talking hot shit about her own talent —and actually being able to back up her claims— as well as being her greatest critic. She's an artist after all, a designer; She's obsessed with improvement and perfectly capturing her vision. She helps fund programs to make chimera casting more accessible, not just because she knows from herself that a great caster can come from anywhere; But also, uplifting others can result in rivals who can sharpen Ed's skills like a whetstone, keep her on her toes all the time. She has no desire to be complacent, nor a big fish in a small pond; She wants to reign in a thriving ocean.

So she'll critique her own perfectly-suitable chimeras; She'll create a deeply horrific monstrosity that gets the job done, and Majikus will praise Editaurus' work. But then she'll brush aside the compliment (perhaps being a tad demeaning in doing so) by explaining how this chimera could've been soooo much better, certain aspects of it are clumsy and inefficient, its back muscles are lacking and weak.

Majikus really doesn't care, she insists that if it gets the job done, then it does. But Editaurus loathes cutting corners and isn't in the profession just for function, but aesthetic as well. She's not a big fan of having to churn out quantity over quality, and would prefer to spend extra time obsessing over every minute detail in a recipe in order to perfect it; This is of course not efficient for Majikus' agendas, and she'll have to strong-arm Editaurus into remembering who's leader of the warlocks for good reason. Ed will feel regret over a project coming out rushed and incomplete, and remind herself to revisit that recipe in the future to do it the justice it deserves.

The chimeras ARE Editaurus' magic; In a way, they're her spells. So every time the Monster Fighters take on a chimera, it's like they're fighting Editaurus herself in a very long-distance way. She's like Viracious that way; You need to consider a magician's summons and creations as part of their magical resume and feats. Such constructs ARE manifestations of their power, as much as any fireball or barrier spell would be. And so you wouldn't truly sum up, nor reflect, a magician's power without their armies taken into consideration, because it's their magic spread thin, invested into one of many forms.

In terms of individual combat, Editaurus might be less magical and more physical, making her akin to her partner Megarus; Her body is a chimera as well, so it can be quite fast and lethal. She might have summoning magic as well to bring forth her chimeras; I do want her magical fighting style to be distinct enough, she's always been one to care about individual identity. Maybe Editaurus is a blend of Viracious' long-distance combat via minions, and Megarus' on-hands approach. What Ed may apparently lack in magical attacks, she makes up for in her magic being the chimeras she creates, and has made herself into; Which could also be comparable to Kisonus transforming herself routinely by applying her magic to herself.

But this might all be fitting; Editaurus is a chimera caster, meaning she puts together different unlike parts to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Her own name is a chimera too, referencing the fusions that are the Minotaur or Centaur, plus the word ‘Edit’ to signify her artistic touch. So to pull from other Warlocks' styles could be appropriate; I can also see Majikus being a jack of all trades in a similar style, which tracks with Editaurus considering herself a viable candidate for leader, and thus rival to Maj. She IS responsible for the main bulk of the Warlocks' army through her chimeras, so it'd be fitting if the leader had creation and mastery over the grunts as a whole, and leading the Warlocks is an extension of that power. That’s how Editaurus would justify it, anyway.
