it's such a stupid pet-peeve because it doesn't actually matter, but I wish people stopped calling Tristamp Wolfwood's shoes loafers

They're too snug and have no raised heel, and the inner piping matches the super-flat sole. Plus whatever material they're made of looks thinner and more flexible than treated leather that usually gets associated with loafers. They look closer to flat espadrilles or rounded Moroccan balghas/babouches to me tbh, closest loafer would be a traditionally-styled penny loafer but they still usually have really specific piping that loops around the toe

(this is all very petty because none of it is worth caring about beyond "how easily can the shoe be taken off to be emptied of sand" and all of them are basically just cozy slip-ons lmao)

people r having an absolute fit over the frankie refresh having pink in it and i feel like im going insane. do these dolls not have more or less the exact same amount of pink in them.

Winx au sketches

Wanted to bring the winx au art back so I started sketching and got ideas to tweak some of the Enchantix designs a little bit (basically everyone but Alexis hers was already perfect imo lolol)

Clearly, these were really just for me to draw their hair and wings, hence hardly drawing any actual body for them lolol

I braided Blair's hair at the ends, reworked Mindy's ponytail and changed her accessories slightly, and Jas got the most reshaped wings because I didn't like the way I had them originally but wanted to keep the design semi-intact and gave her the little buns on top to do up her hair a little more lol

I wanna redraw them fully and see if I come up with any tweaks for their actual outfits (again except Alexis but I can't bring myself to leave her out when I draw this stuff lolol) and just to draw the other 3 girls again because it's been a long time.

Anyway, back into the depths I go, see you later!

not my dad not liking moral orel season 3 🤭🤭🤭that's so embarrassing for him (<- he's not wrong for feeling that way but i think it's like 60% because he doesn't like it when art gets weird and that's so so tragic for him)

#i actually think his points make sense this time. which tbqh is not normally how i feel when he criticizes smth i love #basically he was like s3 was a completely different show from the first two seasons #and he didn't like how all over the place and directionless it felt #and honestly yeah ok i can see that #personally i think the choice to broaden the focus to moralton broadly vs mostly just orel is really interesting #and it allows for different facets of their critique of fundie waspisms to extend to situations/characters orel wouldn't really be privy to #(could you imagine 'alone' with orel there? me neither)#and i personally liked them fleshing out the marginal characters. i never found that boring or like a major diversion #again they're like 11 min episodic(ish) things it's hard for them to feel like they drag on y'know #it shows a lot of ambition and i think they pulled it off really well tbh (cancellation aside)#but i will agree that the transition is a little sudden. nature is such a big moment for the series #and for orel's arc specifically but then we spend little time with orel post-nature so the tone shift doesn't #necessarily align with his realization (at least in terms of the canon timeline. ep release order does align)#it's sudden but we jump back to before the shattering. it's disorienting and i think it's kind of cool as hell #a realization like orel's in nature is gonna throw the past into question and color his life and thus the town #(bc let's face it orel is the real mayor of moralton kfhsjs) and while we've been seeing Some of moralton's ugliness #in every episode until now it's shown in full force in and post-nature (release-wise). so when the timeline jumps around #and it all feels twisted and hazy and sickening and it All Comes Back To The Hunting Trip as our point of reference #for when things are happening it makes it feel like the trip Caused this disturbance. it's almost a spatio-temporal THING #like orel IS the center of this universe. my point is it's weird and i like it a lot i think it works #but anyway i think s3 is a natural evolution of s1+2 albeit an accelerated one #and i really wish we'd gotten to see more of what s3 morel was cooking bc it was setting up some really cool stuff imo #like he hated everything w mommy censordoll x clay but it's SUCH a cool place to take their characters. freud would go crazy #moral orel #and i think if they knew where they had to end the season maybe focusing on other characters was a way to keep orel stagnant enough to like #end the finale where they needed him. maybe.#we actually DID finish it yesterday. i rewatched the finale the day before bc i was impatient but yeah 👍#now it's chapter black time >:}

The utter fury of reading about a character in a Victorian novel who is frankly described as ‘ugly’ and googling them only to find out that absolutely every tv adaptation portrays them as ‘brown haired but otherwise conventionally attractive to the 21st century’

#Are Victorian men very irritating when they choose to describe women based solely on their looks? Yes!#Is it perhaps difficult to cast for an 'ugly' role without insulting actresses? Also yes!#Is it possible that our beauty conventions have changed- I say yes but this particular actress would still have made a Victorian swoon #She has perfectly plucked eyebrows and clear skin too #So it's just going to frustrate me endlessly #Also there were aspects of this character which imo are still controversial in the 21st century #Body hair being one of many things which we still hold against women for god knows what reason #Beauty standards are bullshit and nobody should be treated better just because they're more physically attractive #But the answer to that is not 'Oh let's pretend all women are beautiful by only casting hot actresses so it's obvious these men were insane'#The answer to that is 'cast all sorts of people with all sorts of looks and if you explain to the actress the standards of the time period #I'm pretty sure she's not going to be insulted if you point out that this peanut-brained Victorian man may not have had the hots for her'#You know what's also unattractive? Internalised misogyny. Okay so, if y'all know me you know I adore tmnt. It was my obsession before I ever watched even the original YGO much less GX. And now I'm watching tmnt 2012 for the first time, I'm about halfway through season 2 and honestly you guys are so lucky I'm not live blogging it because well.... I don't like it 💀

I will say I'm enjoying season 2 more than season 1 so far but still 💀

#I'm trying so hard I really am #as a don stan I hate all the april stuff #as a lover of april I hate what they've done and will do with this one #I hate the whole karai is really splinter's daughter thing #the kraang make me want to die every time they speak they're so annoying #I dunno a lot of the humor is just not landing with me either for some reason #i never liked the 3d cg animation style i always thought it was super ugly which is part of why i never watched it until now tbh #I kinda resent just how childish mikey is which is silly of me I'll admit that but still #leo has always been my least favorite that hasn't changed #don always was my favorite so I really hate that so much of his character revolves around april it really adds nothing and holds him back #raph is fine it's hard to mess him up tbh i don't have any issues with him so that's a win 👍#plus I adore sean astin so bonus points #I do actually like splinter and casey though #historically I love casey the most of the human characters though so if they end up messing him up later I'll never forgive them #karai is fine I just hate the her being splinter's daughter thing. I also don't like her design at all. at all. they did her dirty af.#I don't like to compare the other shows to 2003 since nothing ~really~ compares imo but karai's 2003 design > every other karai design #I know there's some 2003 storylines and characters they do in 2012 so I know the comparison is inevitable but I think I've done well #so far in keeping them separate. i haven't had that issue with 87 or rise so I trust myself #but honestly my intense love and admitted bias for 2003 has never interfered with my enjoyment or opinions of other turtle media #-so that's not an issue here #I just genuinely don't care for 2012 so far.
