Figure I'd share my very silly attempt at customizing my journal with yall! I'm no traditional artist, by ANY means, so Wally came out quite a bit shaky. But that's okay! It adds to the charm, I think!

This is another page for the zine I'm working on!! Sort of. The words will be different, but the original didn't make sense out of context so I just slapped a quote in there. Chatting about art selections + no words version under the cut.

All of these images (except Kim!) were taken from the National Gallery of Art's website. I believe the filters I had on were Baroque, Renaissance, Rococo, and Romantic, but I don't entirely remember. Feel free to ask me about anything that catches your eye! The halo is taken from the Gothic work of 'Saint James Mahor' by Simone Martini. My main goal was to just find classical or renaissance paintings that I thought looked related to the Dolorian Church or just kind of had those vibes. My own personal favorites are the gutted pig (ha. get it), the dog and the bird, and the haloed lady in the top right. I found a lot of good stuff though!

The true unsung hero of this collage is its background. This is 'Berlin Abstraction' by Marsden Hartley. My main criteria in finding a background were that I wanted it to be abstract and I wanted it to be by a queer artist. (Also not too modern.) The messier parts of Kim that he keeps under that veil of composure. As an added bonus, 'Berlin Abstraction' depicts a lot of military imagery as well, specifically showing the overlap of these two identities of being queer and a soldier or RCM. I was really pleased to find it!

i think i wouldn’t hate disco elysium’s collage mode nearly as much if it weren’t for 1) the way that it was marketed in such a tasteless, soulless manner, let alone the fact that it was a last ditch distraction from a dead on its feet studio piloted by dumbass thieving execs and released on the day of the court declaration, and 2) those dumbass fucking stickers

like if it had been included with the base game from the start and had been titled something a bit more tasteful and in-line with how i would have liked the feature to be marketed as— something like “exploration mode”, something that perhaps could only be unlocked after completing the game for the first time, AND didn’t have those stupid as hell visually and tonally incongruent with the artstyle stickers, i would have applauded it as a nice little bonus for being able to study and appreciate the 3d models and environments for reference.

I don't understand any time I watch gameplay and people are like "oh fuck there's a bracken nah I'm leaving!" Is it just me or is the bracken the easiest monster to deal with. I'd rather a bracken than a hygrodere. Maybe it's because we're on the same page, y'know? I understand him and he understands me. We're cut from the same cloth, me and the bracken. We work the same way. I speak his language the way I speak my cat's language after living with cats my whole life. And like my cat I don't even get upset when he hurts me I'm just like "well that one's on me." I understand perfectly the mechanics of a guy who balks at immediate eye contact but aggros at too much of it. I'm saying this plant is autistic
