What sucks about the fandom is that everybody usually defaults to make post-Crimson Flower fanfictions 'and they all lived happily ever after :)' which... sucks because CF is the most flawed ending out of all of the routes (Duscur is still believed to have killed the King, TWSITD are lurking around as seen in Edel's mural, sovereign nations were forcibly assimilated against their will into Adrestia, etc). All of these issues are ignored to default to a happy ending which is such a let down since all of these issues are SO interesting and genuinely could make really engaging post-CF fanfiction delving into them. That's not even going into how Edel's meritocracy is deeply flawed on further thought as it assumes equal opportunity (despite the nobility and the inter-generational wealth of said nobles), and an equal society where everyone is seen and treated as equals (the people of Duscur who are seen as traitors, Almyrans such as Cyril who were enslaved and forced to work, Nabataens and Edel's blatant racism towards them, etc). Let me make this clear; a meritocracy is better than feudalism or a monarchy outright. The issue isn't inherently with meritocracies, nor is it to dissuade changing the current system of Fodlan. The problems I have with Edel's meritocracy is the total lack of foresight and the refusal to engage with Edel's actions that brought in the system. Meritocracies can work but considering the broader context and political landscape of Fodlan: Edel's meritocracy was a system founded after violently conquering two sovereign nations against the leaders and the civilians wills. Many of these civilians do harbour resentment towards the government (as seen in Hubert/Shamir's ending where they act as secret cops 🤢), how Edelgard only really gives resources to people she knows aka nepotism (especially to Caspar and Bernie who are woefully not well suited for the roles the get). There's also the ugly turd by removing the corrupt nobles who kept her in check, there are no safeguards against Edelgard or future successors abusing their power (which Edel's use of her power is pretty questionable seen in Hubert/Dorothea gathering intelligence for the empire and Hubert/Shamir with being cops). ======== (1/2)

2/2 ==== I wanna bring up how Petra was treated; poor girl was kidnapped from her home, tossed into a hostile foreign land where she didn't speak the language and received no support at all from her peers. Going so far as Hubert calling her an animal (we love microaggresions if not outright aggresions to poc). Edelgard assumes her and Petra to be equals, that Petra is completely fine but Edel is oblivious or callous towards the gross power imbalance between the two. Petra is constantly trying to appease society by learning the local tongue, constantly trying to appease Edelgard and prove her own independence to ensure Brigid doesn't appear weak. Edel does show concern, I'll give her that, but she really doesn't do anything to truly help Petra. Iirc, Petra had to learn the entire language by herself without ANY help from anyone, not even Edel nor Hubert stepped in (tho Hubert can gawk at Petra like shes an animal). How is it unfair to assume that if Edel can't even address blatant inequality and oppression towards Petra, something that was in her face, how can she ensure that her meritocracy won't perpetuate further inequality and oppression on a wider scale? I really wish the fandom weren't so scared nor so adverse to exploring these issues in a post-CF fan fiction and really take a deep dive into Edelgard's rule outside of 'Fodlan was super corrupt, Rhea is the absolute fucking worst and Dimitri was just a Rhea Stan, Claude was aaaaalmost cool but he didn't want to work with Edelgard which sucks because they would SO be besties (even tho Claude experienced violent racism and would not tolerate Edel's pasty ass spewing vitriol how Nabataens are inhuman beasts) but its soooooo sad he didn't see Edelgard's goals, BTW CRESTS ARE THE FUCKING WORST :3'. Like, the only thing I have ever read to addressing the flaws Edelgard's rule was To Those Who Are Never Going Home by MadameHyde (but stiiiill doesn't hit the spot for me since its more focused on Garreg Mach than the wider society of Fodlan on itself). I believe in women's wrongs and Edelgard did SO MUCH shit wrong, let👏Edelgard👏be👏pointed👏out👏in👏the👏wrong👏. It sucks that nobody wants to engage or even play with that side of Edelgard, so I'm now stuck developing my own post-CF fanfiction/AU exploring an Adrestian-Garreg Mach and the world of Fodlan moulded by Edelgard's rule lmfao. I really want to explore a politically unstable and balkanized Fodlan, and it's so sad that nobody else sees the vision 😔 Thanks for reading my entire infodump about Edelgard and sitting through this entire essay lmfao. — 🍑 Anon

CF's ending makes no sense when you realize that TWSITD can just nuke Fhirdiad right then and there and win. Thales can also just... brainwash Edelgard and turn her into a puppet according to hopes. It's the least logical ending.

Edelgard's system ultimately would only benefit the strong. The 'weak' (sick, elderly, poor, disabled, etc.) just have to pull themselves up by their bootstraps according to our emperor, but we all know how well that will work.

And yep, the nepotism runs strong with her. Caspar and Bernadetta are NOT fit to rule. We know from one of the endings that Caspar acts recklessly and dangerous on military campaigns but people just ignore it. That is a very bad look for Edelgard who just tolerates it.

Petra's whole situation deserves her own post tbh. She's a political hostage who gets treated like dirt. Edelgard couldn't even help her learn the language despite the fact that she has all of the resources to do so.

Weeeeell anyway, howdy! I'm Maddie, I go by Kit online sometimes, you can call me whichever you prefer. She/Her pronouns only, please. On my YouTube, I usually make reviews or video essays about games I like, though I occasionally do stuff on other media as well. Currently, my big long-term projects are the "Splatoon 3 vs Splatoon 2" series, which is AAAAALMOST finished at the time of writing this, and my series on Leilani Wilson's Elancia Chronicles novels, (which are REALLY FREAKING GOOD and you should check them out!) I've linked a few of the videos I'm proudest of down below :)

I also stream pretty frequently on Twitch! I have a PNGtuber of my fursona, Stormy, with art done by EmmalemmaMewmew on Twitter. Stills of her will also start showing up in my YouTube videos eventually, hehe. Currently, the schedule is every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, with each day being a different game. These streams always start at 7 PM Mountain Time (that's 9 PM Eastern and 6 PM Pacific) and go for around 4 hours. Sundays are Splatoon Sundays, currently the Anarchy Challenge, where I attempt to win an Anarchy Series with EVERY SINGLE WEAPON in Splatoon 3. It's hell lol. Then there's Triple-A Tuesdays, where I'm currently marathoning the Zelda series, and Indie Thursdays, where I work through my back catalog of indie games! There are also occasional bonus streams, usually around the releases of new games I'm interested in or events in ones I already play (like Splatfests!) I am making incredibly slow progress on the 60’a au while at work

I did manage to write out Adora absolutely pining while convincing herself she just :) misses her best friend :) I’m so proud of myself even if this all ends up mixed into other scenes or just fleshed out into actual scenes as opposed to something that reads like a 3rd-person diary entry

Years ago I forbid myself from writing drunk/high confessions bc I’d done it SO MUCH. But then I got Adora drunk and high at a party and alone with Catra and oops she may have blurted out “I miss you D:” and hooboy Catra doesn’t react well to that at ALL

I’ve seen multiple other fic authors joke that the hard part about writing catradora au’s is keeping them off each other/keeping them from falling in love too fast, and it’s true, but I’m thinking the solution is to just crank up their personal issues a little. Catra’s never heard of the sunk-cost fallacy (source: s4) and also reflexively rejects care and affection bc she thinks she’s unworthy of it! Adora wouldn’t know her real feelings if smacked in the face with them and wouldn’t admit them to anyone even if she DID know them bc she’s not allowed to want things for herself!

It IS kind of fun to write Adora aaaaalmost realizing her feelings and then doing an I Do Not See It. Her feelings are like “hey look at me. Hey. Hey.” And she’s just shoving them in the closet, pun intended, and forcing the door closed. This is fine. :)))

But yeah. Just gotta have Catra do whatever will make herself MORE miserable. :)))

I think I’ve also just come to accept that I need to do a little light editing on already-posted chapters. Nothing like, plot-changing.

ALSO pfft I reread what I have of the Shut Up and Dance fic and realized my tenses are a DISASTER oops

finally (and i know this one is hard) tell me a fun fact about yourself: I once had a catastrophic injury that left my left leg very weak and very damaged. They didn't think I would be able to walk again on that leg. I started physical therapy to prepare for more surgery, but I started being able to bear weight on the leg, then I learned how to walk (with an AFO and walker assistance, then a cane, then nothing- that took a couple years). But STILL. The doctors were absolutely shocked. Every time I hate my body I remind myself of this fact. I'm a medical marvel! No tags since y'all have done this and I'm late and tired.

they're just two dramatic no thoughts idiots. or in frankie's case too many thoughts but same effect. this is not a couple with a sensible one and a wild one- these are two monsters careening through the world at full energetic speed with the best intentions and ZERO concept of what might happen next, like cats with paper bags stuck on their heads, except one hiccups lightning and the other can summon bug swarms and curses

like there's a few times in their main ep where it aaaaalmost looks like Frankie has the brain cell??? but it's really more like- frankie has one brain cell in that episode, and it's got Cleo's name etched all over it

you rattle Frankie in that ep and they'd make noises like there was a loose pinball ricocheting around their head, bouncing from one Cleo related thought to another. they are laser focused on her, so they anticipate and notice stuff- she is their hyperfixation (she's so much fun to look at and listen to i can't blame them At All)

and i just love love love love love that for someone like Cleo, who's spent the whole show up to now somehow juggling a Deep NEEED To Be Loved And Popular And Noticed For Once while also just being the most supportivest ghoul ever? not just to close friends but doing the organizing work behind school events? and we see her SEE she isn't popular like her friends are? and instead of jealousy she just uses supporting clawdeen as an excuse to also maybe up her own popularity via humans???? like she puts so much energy into other people and being noticed by them and and and

here comes frankie with steel chair (homemade jewelry actually) (for cleo) (because they've spent the whole ep dedicating 100% of all their brains' power into figuring out what she likes and when she's sad and how to cheer her up again)

Before everything crashed my priority for her today was focusing on walking slower and maintaining focus despite the slower speed. Started out shaky which was expected since it’s a struggle area for her and ended with above! Did way better ignoring folks and smells at the slower pace and made some wonderful progress overall.

We also went in to some new stores, first was Claire’s for their tight aisles and various puppy-height temptations. She did great, no issues traversing the space. While we were in there a SUPER noisy flatbed wheelie thing chugged by absolutely echoing through the mall with how loud it’s clattering and rusty squeaks were. She needed to stop and watch it but was frequently checking in and trying to move on despite it passing by. I chose to stop and have her watch it instead of trying to push that focus instead, and with that she was able to observe and then completely move on.

Afterwards we entered a build a bear which I thought was empty but right as we stepped in the door someone was checking out on their birthday so they rang a loud bell and all started clapping and singing. Caught Yos attention for a second like “what kind of cult is this you people are behaving strangely” then moved on and had no issues with things like the fluff machine.

Last was the food court again and she was aaaaalmost perfect. A little bit less attentive than I would like but significantly more confident in the environment, no issues with any of the bangs, didn’t totally lose focus to any sniffs or people. She was just kinda neutrally walking in heel clearly scenting in a neutral forward facing position as we walked, still checking in briefly but it’s clear that the smells are taking a bit more of her focus than it should be. Still lots of wonderful improvements and my current priority is that sound sensitivity n confidence so I’m super happy to see how well that’s doing. The smells will come on their own honestly, I’m not too worried about it but keeping tabs on the progress.

There were two separate working labs wandering the mall as well. First one we passed by the food court, Yo noticed it- refocused- walked about ten paces then did a very brief look back to pause before refocusing and carrying on.

Second was much newer to PA/ struggles with dog distractions themselves so from the opposite side of the mall they were hyper alert to her, pulling towards her, and would not drop eye contact with us. Yoshi noticed it and paused on this one for a little bit longer than the other one before refocusing and moving on completely.

Last encounter we were at the kiosk checking out so Yo is in a down in front of me and they just pass by, she perfectly checked in when she saw them and held that focus until they disappeared out of sight. She did break the down and stretched her neck out to try to catch the scent trail after it went out of sight and it took a couple cues to get her back to focus. This one was pretty dang close to us, about 6ft away? So overall very close and very difficult

We don’t see other dogs in stores often so I am totally okay with the fact that this was hard for her. Now that she knows that dogs can manifest in this space she’ll be able to manage and respond better moving forwards. The first dog in a new area is always a bit of a funny one for her as she realizes other dogs can exist in the space.

Most importantly she was confident when she spotted them, comfortable, and relaxed. If not a little excited to see them.

We also did a little bit of retrievals today since she was having a hard time retrieving with people waking nearby. Did my phone today which is a harder retrieve for her, just sat in a quiet area to make it easy and she did great. First two asks she would pause to look around for a second, the rest she executed without distraction.

I think she did quite well considering all the day threw at us and how much I focused on her weak areas. Her basic focus and walking skills were great, she nailed alerts, persisted, coped with all sorts of stress very well, settled brilliantly, and did tasks as needed exactly as needed.

Ah I'm so sorry! A few weeks back I went on a crazed cleaning of my playlists, I wasn't aware anybody listened to those playlists still, and as I'm not too involved in the fandom anymore and didn't want the email associated to that YouTube profile to be a fandom one anymore when it's meant to be a spam, I decided to delete them.

Im ALMOST POSITIVE there were people who compiled the playlists over to Spotify, I know I got plenty of asks about that as I making them. I guess it's a matter of hoping someone reads this and has those.

My only other suggestion might be more work than it's worth, but I've never deleted a single ask sent to me on this blog, you can probably search WAAAY back through my asks and find the songs as they were sent to me, and remake the playlist. I'm aaaaalmost convinced I might have had a dedicated tag too. I'm sorry about that, realizing now that I should have asked if anyone used that, I have been very convinced for years now that everyone lost interest in them :(

yeah i’d probably agree bc my issues with giuliano i think are that i don’t like the way his character was written, not that i thought bradley’s performance was bad (tho i could see why some ppl think he wasn’t the best fit for the role) whereas simonetta fails on both counts lmao matilda lutz is definitely very wooden but the writing for simonetta didn’t give her much to work with either, even if she’d been played by the most talented actress in the world she still wouldn’t have had any personality traits besides being pretty and sad. but yeah definitely the weakest link in an otherwise really strong cast for this season!
