okay i just gotta make a new personal rule for myself to never go into the comments of any given elfilis fan work. the number of people in the EN sphere who just gleefully misgender this character is too damn high. it even happens on works where the creator is like "wow i love elfilis THEY are so cool i love THEIR design!"
comments: he him his guy man male he him man dude him
the bar is on the fucking floor
#kirby#there's ''this character was never addressed with pronouns so the fandom defaults to they''#and then there's ''THIS CHARACTER'S PRONOUNS ARE EXPLICITLY THEY/THEM''#for some reason it's only that latter one that brings the misgenderers out in force :)#elfilis

The most annoying things when dealing with people talking about they/them characters:
"This character is always referred to with they/them"
"Erm, we don't actually know [Character's] gender, [Character] isn't non-binary"
"i wasn't talking about gender i was talking about pronouns..."
#196#r/196#pronouns#pronoun issues#gender issues#project moon#limbus company#dante lcb#yes this post is specifically about dante#but also like every other not explicitly nb they/them character

I spent 9 hours on an attack and the owner of the character loved it, but only when he reffered to his character as „he” did I realise i might’ve accidentally genderbent him 😭😭😭 i thought he was a muscular woman
I’ll wait for artist’s response but i’m willing to reupload the attack (or at least send a DM) with the correct gender presentation bc the last thing i want is for someone to feel upset over my art (he specifically said he doesn’t want genderbends in his character permissions)
#my posts#rambling#on the character’s page he was reffered to by it/its pronouns; but it was in reference to his abilities#but i read it as in reference to the character; so i misunderstood#I don’t think the artist even noticed the fact i made the character a woman#bc a lot of my characters are gender non-conforming so some of my women just look like men#but i addressed it anyway bc it would be unfair to try to hope that the artist didn’t notice the slip-up#especially when it’s explicitly stated as an issue in character permissions#I should’ve paid more attention or maybe ask next time; tho i like the element of surprise when attacking ppl#but i think the artist’s comfort is more important than surprising them (even if that’s nice)

this isn't neg at all but I'm rewatching riptide and 54 and 55 are so rough because grizzly and jocat refer to esme exclusively withthey/them and the rest of them just seem to not pick it up at all 💀
#Jrwi#They all refer to them as he/him ig just. Out of habit. Until they're described as looking feminine#And then they switch to she/her#Obviously not on purpose on anything but explicitly saying characters pronouns in the epsilon would probably savea lot of hassle lmao#Also unrelated why do the mobile emojis look like that

every time a trans person likes or reblogs my art I grow in power... yes you ARE my target audience
#and I don't know how you find me! like yes. my art IS very intentionally trans almost always but only because I am#I don't really make much explicitly trans art? which in my mind is say. a drawing of a shirtless trans guy with top surgery scars#which to be fair I do love to see & I do want to draw some cool fantasy top surgery scars at some point#but I like to draw characters that are like me#who aren't cleanly transitioned or have different goals for ideal bodies. which hmm that does lead to a bunch of gnc characters huh#I guess just where I'm going with this is that in real life I've had a lot of encounters where trans folks don't realize I'm trans#I've had trans friends who thought I was cis for ages#big reason I use they/them pronouns now rather than just saying 'whatever you want I don't care'#so the fact that my art does find trans people even without me labeling it as such means a lot!#non-art

watching a new outer wilds analysis and trying very hard to not get silly mad at inaccuracies in the video
#wind howls#encyclopedic knowledge of outer wilds in my brain.#its especially silly when it comes to pronouns bc most people who play the game will use the wrong pronouns for the characters but#its even sillier when people try to use they/them on characters who explicitly have different pronouns used on them#though i can recognize that how i think is silly. nobody in this game follows human gender presentation rules bc they are not human#so in a way it is interesting to see how people will refer to some characters with a specific set of pronouns#based on appearance or dialogue. i find it very interesting and im trying to keep it to the interesting level#bc otherwise i get annoyed. but thats a me problem bc this game is my favourite in the whole wide world

okay i continue to catch up on dw and re: the devil's chord, it is weird to see the classic campy queer-coded drag queen-esque villain be replicated exactly except explicitly queer now
not bad! but weird
#the devil's chord#like i'm all here for reclaiming this trope and using it for actual queer representation! especially in such a queernormative dw era#and i mean it's been a vehicle for queer expression even when it couldn't be overt like how ursula is based on divine#but yeah. like just straight up casting a drag queen and establishing they/them pronouns in the first scene was. wild when the character was#so so so molded after queer-coded villains of yore that could never ever actually explicitly queer#doctor who

daily reminder that if a character uses they/them pronouns, they probably actually use they/them pronouns and it's not "up to interpretation". it's 2023, we are no longer asking. if you misgender a they/them character near us we're straight up killing you.
#Faye Complains#yes this is mostly in reference to ut/dr but it can be applied to more things than it should be#they/them is not your fucking blank slate to project on#it is a set of pronouns that people use#why do characters have to explicitly be called nonbinary before people actually use their proper fucking pronouns#we still blame it on visual novels that used they/them as a blank slate. genuinely.#not turning on reblogs btw bc we don't want this breaching containment immediately.#would rather not attract the exact people we're complaining about.

Upon further examination, I am leaning more and more into Otto being a nonbinary egg opposed to a nonbinary person who uses he/him pronouns. Thanks for the help Mi-ma <3
#rat rambles#oni posting#she reffers to them as 'that nice young man' in one of her journal entries which is what tipped the scale for me#like its obviously possible that granny assumed incorrectly but given how much otto likes her Im inclined to believe shed know if they#were openly nonbinary especially given how personal otto has been with her already#but rly its mostly that combined with the other big thing that makes me feel that they probably were an egg at the time#so I shallst continue to use they/them for otto unless I find a new log that explicitly confirms their preffered pronouns#nothing short of otto saying out loud yeah Im not a man but I still wanna go by the same stuff will fully convince me#bonus points if they talk abt it with dr.holland so that he can make his gender identity clear too#also to be clear there are no mi-ma transphobia allegations to be found here I just think she doesnt know#she has so fucking many nonbinary coworkers and at least one of them is also on the older end and has been at the company for a while#plus I doubt theyre putting transphobia in the colony survival game like imagine if dont starve characters called eachother slurs#so no mi-ma slander shall be tollerated also she is trans (2 Me)#shes literally named mi-ma you cannot convince me she is cis#she is such a silly billy I wish so bad that she showed up in more logs#maybe even given an official full name drop to clear up any doubts#given her whole character is being old and mi-ma's whole thing is being the old one its like 99%#but technically speaking we never do get a full name just last name and first initial#so very technically speaking she could be one of the other 3 available m named guys but its highly unlikely#as in the other options are meep max and marie and no way in hell it's any of them#theyre all young chaps and theres only one hashtag woman in their ranks along with a nonbinary person and a hashtag man#so basically yeah its mi-ma there's no way in hell its not mi-ma

omg got the cutest armor and so it's finally tiiimeeee to shareeee.
This is Flu. <3 She/They pronouns. Badass. Misses her sister who in my mind looks exactly the same but styles her hair differently and is a dark blue instead of a dark purple like Flu. This inn lighting is just meh and their face and freckles are the cutest I'll have to upload a more closeup pic. They're the coolest nerdiest badass-est wizard on this here continent and they're for SURE not an undercover True Soul who has seen and done some SHIT to keep their cover, NOPE.
#the outfit is cute but their face is even cuter so i wish in hindsight id gotten a good shot of that too but im here now ive already typed#and im not booting the game back up i need to do CHORES darn it haha#bg3#bg3 tav#it's funny it was technically a misclick initially when creating a character for making them they/them in the game#cuz i excitedly clicked it and was like Wow that's fucking cool that's an option and then forgot to change it#and I legit didn't notice for HOURS haha I speak and use gender neutral terms a LOT just in general so it just didn't stick out#and it wasn't until a line was just so explicitly like 'They said They're gonna guide us!' and I was like#wait why did they say they are they talking about our group or me? why is it being that level of neutral?#and I remembered being excited about the they them option and was like OHH I musta left it that way#not me using gender neutral pronouns again out of habit and makin that sentence unnecessarily complicated haha#ALL of this to say respect pronouns cuz gender is a social construct and it's not that deep and let people be themselves damnit#fight me

Fucking tired of people using he/him as the default pronoun and everything else being a weird special case
#sorry just tired of everyone ever using exclusively he him for every character until explicitly told she/her#because they/them(or any other non he/him or she/her pronouns) means continue using exclusively he/him#thing that is only referred to with It and they in story: fucking only he/him#boiled electronics#sorry for this rant

10 years is a long time
2014: Legend of Korra ends. Korra and Asami end the series by deciding to travel together. Word of God says they have become a couple, though only later supplemental material such as comics actually confirm this.
2016: Gravity Falls ends. Blubbs and Durland, though often hinted to be a couple, fail to escape the censors, and remain only hinted. In the finale, they are depicted firing a cannon, to hint that they "are canon."
2018: Adventure Time ends. Bubblegum and Marceline, often hinted to be a couple though never directly stated up to this point, share an on-screen kiss, fully confirming the relationship.
2019: Steven Universe ends. One of its final episodes includes a gay wedding between Ruby and Sapphire, including an on-screen kiss. Multiple other queer characters featured on the show, such as Pearl, who is explicitly sapphic and dates multiple women, and Stevonnie, who is explicitly nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns.
May 2020: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power ends. The show included multiple queer relationships, such as Adora and Catra, and Netossa and Spinnerella. Bow has two fathers. Many other characters are either hinted or explicitly queer.
November 2020: Adventure Time: Distant Lands. The special Obsidian explores the past and present of Bubblegum and Marceline's relationship on a deeper level, and it is much more explicit than it ever was on the original show. The episode includes a love song, and they again kiss.
April 2023: The Owl House ends. It depicted homosexual attraction as early as season 1, with the character Amity developing a crush on the protagonist, Luz. Luz is explicitly bisexual and the two are explicitly a couple starting early in season 2, openly using words such as "girlfriend" on screen. The cast includes the nonbinary character Raine, who uses they/them pronouns.
August 2023: Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. Protagonist Fionna is hinted to be bisexual. The Winter King openly flirts with an alternate universe version of himself. The relationship between Bubblegum and Marceline is reaffirmed once more, and is implied to be a universal constant, as it is shown happening in at least two other universes: one where it is more toxic, and one where they are both men instead. Their male versions share an on-screen kiss.

an addition, if i may
toby fox: makes a character that very clearly has their own identity separate from the player by on two different occasions having the character go off and do things on their own independent from any and all player input, and to ignore that this character is separate from the player would be to ignore every single theme this character is supposed to embody as well as a large chunk of their characterization
the fandom: ima call this character that is only called they in the source material "he". "he's" Obviously supposed to be a self insert, this is just My interpretation of the character! I understand the source material and what its trying to say about identity, control, and free will completely
toby fox: alright im gonna nonbinary this character
the fandom: this character is non-nonbinary. not agender but instead A Gender™
#the fact that they have their own pronouns is THE POINT#the fact that their own wants and desires often clash with the player's is THE POINT#also something about the fact that there are so many characters with binary pronouns for them to get creative with but they go for the one#character that goes exclusively and explicitly by they/them...#but seriously how do you come away from the ch1 + 2 finalies thinking that theyre still supposed to be a self insert or up for interpetatio

one of the bigger issues with misogyny is that people have difficulty seeing it, especially in our society now. it's not obvious to them. it's been naturalized since the beginning of human civilization. roe being overruled was an enormous piece of evidence that misogyny is entrenched and going nowhere and informs policy making on the lowest and highest levels. but most people don't understand why that should be evidence of misogyny to begin with. most people don't think about in those terms. the takes on the left were largely about how this will only affect some women, as if the wholesale rejection that any person of a certain identified gender should not be able to decide how their organs are used is not utterly repugnant. and then if you want to point to less obvious evidence of misogyny, things in the day-to-day, things like the "karen" meme or the fact that most cis women i know can't contemplate hairy legs or going somewhere public without foundation or the fact that stunt women get injured more bc the costumes of female characters are inadequate or the fact that inanimate objects of nature or machine have female names or pronouns or even the fact that in online fan spaces people can show little compassion or interest in female characters--little things that add up to full picture, but when pointed out earn the pointer rolled eyes or scoffs or profound disinterest or jokes in movies about supposed girl power where the explicitly and loudly feminist character says ridiculous things about how the word "semester" clearly invokes "semen."
and when it's really, really obvious, like when women are banned from even speaking to each other under certain regimes, it is of little note to the world.

#it's from an old post so idc to start shit. but when has enkidu ever been referred to with he pronouns or explicitly as a man#kingu was only reffered to with he pronouns while enkidu uses only they pronouns. to my knowledge#if there's an interlude with he/him kidu my bad. but to my memory the only gendering done through th story is nursery calling them a mister#probably one of those instances where common fandom simplification warps people's character perception

Can I pretty please get some headcanons of mr chopped with a s/o that loves to grab him sudenly just to give him kisses?
⊱ Smothering Him in Kisses ⊰ || Mr. Chopped Headcanons
╭─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╮ Character(s): Mr. Chopped (Homicipher/文字化化) Reader Type: Human (Gender-Neutral Pronouns) Warning(s): Nothing! Genre: Headcanons, Fluff, Pre-Established Romantic Relationship Word Count: ~420 words Request: “Can I pretty please get some headcanons of mr chopped with a s/o that loves to grab him sudenly just to give him kisses?” Author’s Note: Yes, you may!! Thank you for sending in such an adorable request – Mr. Chopped is just too cute. I wish we had more moments with him in-game. 😭 This one is a little on the shorter side since only one character was requested, but I hope you enjoy it nevertheless!
→ If you enjoyed my work, please reblog it if you can! Exposure on Tumblr is based on reblogging content rather than liking it, so your support would be much appreciated! ♡ ╰─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╯
🗣️: Honestly, his reaction depends on his mood or when you decide to randomly smother him in kisses. If he was sleeping and you suddenly grabbed him to place kisses across his cheeks, he might get a bit pouty and scold you for scaring him out of a dead sleep. Don’t you know that’s rude?? However, if he’s fully conscious, he’ll take your kisses with either a bright smile or quietly sulk while he allows you to shower him in affection. He has mixed feelings about being manhandled unless he explicitly asks you to carry or hold him, so just ask for his consent before you decide to smother him in your love (you should ask for consent no matter what, folks)!
🗣️: He does love your kisses, though… He enjoys the feeling of your hands gently cradling his face, your thumbs brushing over the apples of his cheeks while your lips leave feather-light touches across his flesh. He knows he’s safe there with you, and that you’ll protect him from anything that wants to bring him harm. Honestly, he’s never slept better than when he’s with you, resting on your chest or lap or stomach, nuzzling into your body for more warmth and comfort.
🗣️: Mr. Chopped seems like the kind of person who would adore butterfly kisses. He finds the action endearing and will laugh softly when your lashes lightly brush against his skin. Another type of kiss besides your traditional cheek and/or lip kiss is nose kisses. His nose will scrunch up as you rub the tips together, and he finds it to be the most wonderful feeling in the world – that fluttering sensation he gets despite having no heart or stomach. My man just eats up any attention or affection that you’re willing to give (as long as you don’t catch him off-guard – he hates surprises).
🗣️: If you wear lipgloss or colored lipstick, Mr. Chopped gets really embarrassed since the marks of your lips are pretty much stuck on his face until either you or Mr. Silvair wipe them off of him (which neither of you will do unless he starts whining about it – you both find his reaction to be entertaining and/or cute). He prefers it when you wear lipstick more than lipgloss, though, since the gloss can be pretty sticky and somewhat uncomfortable on his skin. Mr. Chopped notices that, whenever he does have the mark of your lips on his face, he doesn’t get kidnapped nearly as frequently as he used to… did you know about this, or do you just do it to make him blush?
