#sars cov 2#covid 19#i've interacted with 4 different friends/acquaintances in the past month alone who have all been hospitalised after having a stroke#(and in one case multiple strokes)#one who i visited in hospital over the weekend had a (unmasked) nurse coughing up a lung in her room 👍#and one of them who had to undergo surgery also had to be moved to a different hospital#bc the ward they were keeping him in was full of confirmed covid patients 👍👍#idk how many times it needs to be said before it gets through people's heads but VACCINES ARE NOT ENOUGH#and encouraging ppl to rely solely on them when there are already plans to jack up the prices so you have to KEEP PAYING for boosters#for an ONGOING mass-disabling event is so laughably unrealistic and absurd and flat-out demonic#you need to mitigate the actual spread of covid by WEARING A MASK + fighting for CLEAN AIR/proper ventilation in public spaces!!!!!!#ppl are so eager to forget the whole 'break the chain of transmission' thing and how effective masking is and so this is where we're at#'i got infected and infected other ppl who might die or become permanently disabled but it's no big deal bc no one else wears a mask#so if /i/ didn't infect them someone else would have anyway so it's not my fault and really its got nothing to do with me and my choices'#if everyone is responsible then no one is responsible - that's how it works right?#it's no wonder some ppl go rabid at even the sight of someone wearing a mask and minding their own business#ppl seeking treatment for unrelated conditions/illnesses and then dying from covid caught in hospitals#due to lack of npis/basic mitigation measures - no regulations no accountability#we truly live in a hell (''new normal'') of our own making#anyway none of this is new news at all i mostly thought it might be good to share the info graphic abt signs of stroke#covid has been given free reign and chances are increasing as to how likely you'll encounter it happening to someone you know at some point#also heart attacks and pots and alzheimer's etc etc etc

I don't think I'm an actual normal human anymore. This is the project that caused everyone in my life to question my mental and physical wellbeing and health. Not a bad get from work's sample sale the other day tbh 😌
#ore no kao#also ending up with <6hrs of sleep tonight after sleeping in this weekends 😩#fun hang for a friend's bday; watched some older good snl/onion vids before HOTD (which i don't really watch but i'm here for camaraderie)#and now work in the morn 😴#(also cute friend from wed's date thanked me for holding his umbrella for next time and said he had a great time#but hasnt replied to my texts thursday saying i liked exploring our chemistry and that i was thinking of kissing him again#or from yday hoping he's had a good few days and that i feel bad for still having his umbrella given how it's poured this weekend#[he'd left it in our bathtub to dry as we fooled around but the roomie was in there as it got late and he left lol]#he's working two jobs and has 12-hr shifts fridays and sats so i'm hoping it's nothing but a little surprising for how well wed night went#and it would be nice to see him more so i guess we'll see)#(for dates and also getting to suck him again 😩)

It's my night to work, and I can't, and I'm very sorry. Can't argue with the campus nurse though.
I am also very sorry about the grass out front of our main building. The circumstances were desperate and hopefully it will never happen again.
#random personal stuff#I thought the problem was that I needed to eat something#but apparently it was not#the system has declared a maintenance day#had some exhausting things to discuss with the counselor this morning#and saw my friend earlier and it was fine but apparently she thinks she's causing me not to make progress with the counseling#which is very much not true and I had to reassure her that I am responsible for my own reactions and that I'm fine and everything's fine &#she's fine and I didn't tell her that the weekend was rough because it would just make her feel bad and she did nothing wrong anyway#and I really think we'll be able to solve the problem#but in the meantime I have a lot of stuff to work through#there's a physical component to guilt I guess? and I don't think that helped#all this to say that I probably need a rest day anyway#and hopefully I'll be okay to fly Thursday#have I ever said that our nurse is just the kindest lady#she was so good to me today and I am eternally grateful

#persona 3 spoilers#minato arisato#hc and au nonsense#lizzy speaks#happy international asexuality day to my fellow aces out there i hope you know that you are loved!!! 🎊🎉🥳#i like viewing minato with the lens of him being gay / ace. esp bc it stems from my own experiences so it's fun to look at-#him from that perspective even if that's not what was intended by atlus y'know?#and im sure others have other hcs from me that are informed by their own life experiences and i think that's great ^_^#something that i found interesting while playing FES was how. stilted? minato's animations felt when hugging the girls#you could definitely go with the perspective that it's a graphical limitation or they didn't have time to polish the animations#and that's def true!! but sometimes i see the hug @ yakushima beach + the other hugs and then i compare it to the sou/yo hug in p4#and there's like... a noticeable difference to me with how intimate and close together the hugs are...#that said i do know that the animations for reload are updated and the hugs are much more natural (good on them tbh!)#the other thing is (pensive sigh). the way you couldn't reject any of the girls when doing their social links in FES#objectively speaking i'm glad that they did away with that and i like how the rejections were handled in reload. it feels naturally written#but also a part of me enjoyed looking at the “hey atlus what the FUCK” moment and thought of how to interpret it differently#specifically with the idea of minato having like.. little to no autonomy and kind of going along with the relationship#it kind of reminded me of myself tbh with like going along with the rship without considering what you want bc#it's what others want or expect out of you... #ugh. fuck me im so tired. im getting sucked back into that workaholic mindset and now my body hurts and my nerves are fying. but it feels#good to b productive. if only i didnt have to teach and could just work with data :-(#anyway. the last 2 weeks have been good in that i feel like im actually hitting my stride a bit#bc we're seeing cool things in our genomes and its gonna b really fun to explore. and i met with the terrifying#prof who is on my committee to pitch a project for a final in her class and it seems it went over well. it was kinda funny bc we were#meeting and she was like: so how would u tell which gene was lost 1st? the phytochrome or the genes that r triggered by activation? and i#was like: uhhhhh idk. and then my advisor walked by and she grabbed him and asked him the same question and he was like: idk we'll have to#figure it out. which made me feel way better abt not knowing lol. then my superior lab mate asked me a question abt taking confocal images#and i was actually able to figure out what her issue was. and my old advisor was asking me if i knew anyone to ask for using a pam on cyanos#and i was like: here is what i think my advisor would say and linked her a paper. then i asked my advisor and he said what i expected and#linked the paper that id already sent. so im like. ok. ok. maybe i actually sometimes do kno what im doing. sorta.#and then my old advisor said she was so proud of me. and i was like aw. its so funny bc my relationship is so different with my new advisor#hes great but its all very professional. with my old advisor i would text her after hours bc she was a workaholic like me and went on long#car rides and handed out Halloween candy with her. she was more hands on and doesnt have kids so work is her life. its just interesting#so things have been going well. but there arent enough hours in the day. and my committee meeting is in like 16 days. and i am afraid for#that but not as afraid as i was in april when i had a full on breakdown and canceled it the day before it was set to happen lol#itll b fine. i just have to work thru the weekend so i can get my preproposal done. and prey that the fucking splitstree download site will#start working bc i want to do gene networks dammit#unrelated

Okay so. We went to see The Killers tonight. Great show. Very fun.
But! We had lawn tickets, so when we got in we found a place where there were some people standing, and there was a blanket behind us but no people, so we stood there for a while and then the opener came on!
And these two guys who had put the blanket down came back and one of them asks “are you guys gonna sit?” And I say “no probably not?” Because it’s a show! And this man starts at us “let’s make it this then, sit the fuck down.”
And I turn and look at him like bro wtf and go “dude it’s a concert?” and he starts YELLING and cussing at me. And I’m like…I’m not getting in a fight with a Philly man. So I say “let’s find someplace else” and he is still yelling “YEAH GET THE FUCK OUT” and all of us are looking at him like “bro what the fuck”
Anyway we found another spot and everyone else around us had no problems with us standing and then EVEN ALSO STOOD UP! when The Killers came on! Because that’s…what you do! You dance! So yeah! Was a time!

I was dropping the check off at a table and the little girl, who had not spoken a word to me the entire time her family was there, said, “um, did you know that, um, that cats have 32 muscles in their ears?” I said, “oh yeah, so they can rotate their ears 180 degrees and move each ear separately so they can figure out exactly where a sound is coming from!” She was like :o and her mom said, “oh, you just became her new favorite person.” The little girl was practically bouncing in her seat and her mom said, “Go ahead, tell her another cat fact.” She said, “Do you…know how cats sweat?” I said, “that’s easy! They sweat from their paw pads!” She was like :O!!! This went on for a few minutes, we kept telling each other cat facts, then she made her mom show me pictures of their cats, Cheddar and Havarti, and i was like, “i LOVE cats named after food. Hang on,” and i pulled out my phone to show her a picture of Sushi and said, “This is Sushi, she’s my best friend.” The little girl was like, “WOW, she looks sooo fluffy and soft!” Then she looked at her mom and whispered, “mom, can i show her my drawings?” Her mom was like, “oh, I’m not sure, she might be busy…” i said, “no, I’m not busy, it’s okay, i wanna see!” This girl whipped a sketchbook out of nowhere and showed me so many really great drawings and i was like, “whoa, you’re super talented! These are seriously awesome.” The whole experience felt very much like I’d met myself as a child, because I was absolutely that little girl.
#the kids were SO funny this weekend#a little boy at another table gave me a detailed list of all the times he’s eaten seafood and which types of seafood he likes#while his sister sat there going ‘i don’t like that :)’ after every one. then he said he doesn’t like salmon and his sister#SLAMMED her hands on the table and went ‘i. LOVE. salmon. oh my GOSH.’#i told them to have a good year at school and the brother heaved the deepest sigh and was like ‘yeah…back to reality…’#then these three kids at another table were explaining the timeline of their parents’ relationship to me#talking over each other and yelling dates and names at me. ‘okay so then dad broke up with jenny-’#i was like ‘wait wait who’s jenny i’m lost’ ‘he met jenny after mom broke up with him the first time in college’#ah yes i see

can't stop thinking abt how much my grandma would've loved toji.....
#she was a very bossy woman#but not in like a mmm rude way#she was just the head of the house yk?#she lived at the countryside and so there was always smth to do#i used to spend all of my summers and school holidays there with her#and every weekend when my parents and her son would come visit she just gave everybody a job lmao#oh wait so she wasn't technically my grandma she was my grandma's sister but . to me she still counted as a grandma okay#anyway#i think if yk she'd still be here and i were to take toji with me to there#they would get along very very well#bc i think toji would do everything she said without a question or a complaint#she was a big talker too so i just like to imagine him helping her out with whatever while she tells a story about whatever#and he is . listening#perhaps peeks at what i'm doing in the meanwhile but he's good okay#he's gonna be a good little worker hehehhee#(and i'm gonna be drooling for the entire time bc holy fuck he's like dirty now and he's sweating and he's being sooo so nice and mmmm sexy#and then for dinner we barbeque smth and he gets to show off his skills with the grill sahgdghsdhgsagdas#and then ofc we go to the sauna and then swimming#i would've loved to tell him stories about the place#and then we'd sleep in a bed that's just a bit too small but neither of us care#and i would whisper more stories bc i have sooo so many stories to tell abt the place and her#mmmmmmmmmmmmm#i miss her and i miss her place#it's still there like i still occasionally go and visit (her grandkid is taking care of it now) but it's not really the same anymore#anyway i think the morning would be sooo so lovely too we'd get coffee and she'd most definitely makes us pancakes and wahhh#i think this is one of the sweetest daydreams of mine#i think he would've loved it there a lot#despite all of the work#i think he would've loved it#miji
