Gaius shrugs as he watches the ball bounce from Lucasta's muzzle and onto his desk, before it rolls across and falls to the floor. "They tend to have less than ideal reputations," he says quietly.

"I don't know much about being less mentally fit for normal duties, as many stories go, but my dealings with them were often due to insubordination or unreliability... I know a lot of charr gladia who've been demoted over unreliability."

He leans over in his seat and picks up the ball, placing it on his desk within reach of the younger charr. "If anything, I'd say it's often a more unfortunate situation, at least in individual cases, than just being troublemakers."

Really says something about the dire state of offerings for men interested in sewing their own clothes that even searching things like "interesting men's clothing patterns" brings up articles with links to four or five whole websites that primarily offer admittedly nice but practically identical patterns for making button-ups and work pants and maybe a varsity/bomber jacket if you're lucky.

(Branching out into historical costuming for everyday wear is like your one shot at variation, and even then, the ratio of men's to women's patterns on every website is frustrating to say the least.)

Patternmakers as a trans man I am begging you. Give me a little more to work with here.

comics as an art form make me insane. they’re so difficult to do well. there’s so many different ways to make sequential art work and most of them are deeply unintuitive. onomatopoeia that feels completely ridiculous to put down often reads seamlessly. panels on a page become a fractally nested image composition challenge that’s only possible to lose because if you do a good job no one will notice. you have to direct the readers’ eyes on a specific path across the page but also account for the fact that they won’t follow it. comic time isn’t linear. if the order of events isn’t crystal clear the story becomes incomprehensible. sometimes you need to do this on purpose. all this for a medium almost universally considered less effective than animation and less respectable than plain text. even its own name doesn’t take it seriously
