Hii! Been a while!
How has your day been? I hope it's been good so far!
I've been into Angel's recently and in one of the videos I watched about Abaddon the angel of Destruction — it said he is the ruler of the bottomless pit(presumably hell), it made me wonder if Lucifer is just a prince or somehow in someway he's still the king. Abaddon himself is a mystery, since he is never mentioned in the Bible but in another book I completely forgot about, but he used to be described as a place, his name is often used to refer to hell; "The fires of Abaddon"(or something along those lines) being the most popular so far. I like to think Abaddon IS hell, he's both a person and a place - I think his real form is hell itself, and his angel form is just a normal being, but that doesn't explain how he holds the key to hell if he's hell himself, and it's weird to think demons live inside him(creepy way to describe that)
Lucifer on the other hand is well known, fell from grace and all those things I completely forgotten about. But does he really count as the king of hell when Abaddon is the embodiment OF hell and the ruler OF hell, I guess if you put it that way.. he rules over hell but not hell itself?? I don't know how to describe it but, he rules the metaphorical place named hell but not the demon's inside hell???? But if we go with my idea on him being both hell and angel, wouldn't that mean he does both rule hell and hell itself?
I wanted to know your thoughts about this, since we all know Lucifer is the first angel to be thrown out of heaven — but some books did state that Abaddon had been the one to trap Lucifer in hell, and that he owns the key to hell, so wouldn't that count as him being the king of hell?? Idk really, my brain rot rn is just angels! Sorry if this is very long :(
— 🫚 Annon who isn't Christian just fascinated with Demonology and Angels!
🫚 anon, Abaddon is actually referenced in the bible (At least the in the copy that I own: The New American Bible), specifically in Revelations 9:11, as the fifth trumpet, as well as in Job 26:6. What I'd prefer to focus on is the former.
Tumblr media
In Revelations, there are 7 trumpets are sounded by 7 angels that are set to cue events that occur during the apocalypse. 7 angels. Based off of this Abaddon is a person. However, that does not mean that Abaddon can't also be a place, just like how Hades can refer to the Greek God, as well the Underworld which he rules over.
Furthermore, he is an angel, not a fallen one, but an angel that continues to serve God, so it would fit what you stated that some book reference that Abaddon has the keys to hell, which would have been presumably given to him by God created to punish demons and fallen angels. (he is also the one to release the scorpions that torture whoever doesn't have the seal of God: keynote: torture not kill. This is important because God forbids murder, thus by abiding by this, Abaddon continues to serve and listen to God.)
Now, think of what hell is. It is the home of demons and sinners. But that is where they are sent as punishment by God. That is where Satan and all the fallen angels are trapped. Satan may rule over Hell, but it is just as much his prison as it is the sinners.
So the way I interpret this is that Abaddon is not so much a ruler over Hell, but something more like a prison warden.

Sorry man, the world and especially children are gonna get more secular and corrupted. The time of christianity was yesterday
Ah, but you mistake the goal. The goal is not to preserve the Christian culture. The Christian culture died in the 1960s (if not the 1860s). The goal is to conquer secular culture again.

"This is what God wanted. My faith shall not waver. Sinners must die."
Tumblr media
Traditional art again, this time with colour pencils.
You know every now and then I remember that Amane is twelve. Like she's not that young. She's right for asking us to not treat her differently just because of her age, I would've done the same at her age. She's nearing her teenage years, a time where you tend to feel very strongly about your beliefs, but also a time where you want to question authority. I think she would be very torn internally between questioning the cult and thinking she's a sinner for just considering that something might be wrong with her upbringing. Being mad at herself for doubting that what she did was the right thing. Being mad at the world for not following God's teachings. Praying endlessly to make the sinful thoughts disappear.
I really respect her strength and unwavering will. I just wish she would meet people who could show her that there's other ways of living. Maybe MILGRAM could help her open up to new perspectives. Well not if she's voted guilty and gets restrained I guess.

A sneak peak into my creative process for how I wanna set up some things in my Slay the Princess fanfics.
Tumblr media
I chose Modern day Spain specifically as a nod to the amount of Spanish people I've seen enjoying this game, and my conversations with @7w7m7w7 who is wonderful.
I'm trying to be as respectful as possible, which means doing research and double checking that what i just read isnt some hyper specific and outlier persepctive, so chapter 5 is gonna take a minute I'm afraid.
If anyone else from Spain wants to give me tips and pointers for how to translate Spanish Catholicism into Slay the Princess, I would be grateful.

your art of feliciano and lovino is gorgeous i adore the feral edge you gave them lol, and the little details - freckles, earrings, bandaids and dark undereyes are amazing as hints about how they live and their personalities. also since they're both wearing crosses im curious about how religious you think they both could be? I'm guessing it's something that would change over the years and could be a touchy subject if one is more religious than the other.
hi!! thank you first of all 🥺
i think both of them are religious, most people here are catholic. there certainly is a sprinkle of religious trauma here and there tho, we do have the vatican state after all... and even though it is a whole different nation from italy, with its laws and all, it still influences our politics (which really shouldn't happen).
i always thought of romano to be more religious than feliciano is, he probably does attend church every sunday, whereas feliciano doesn't – he keeps his faith more private. it is touchy, but i don't think they fight over it or even discuss it. with all the things that happened because of religion, i don't think they want to continue arguing over how many times you should pray a day and all.

Regarding that “kids shouldn’t read books about difficult stuff even if they’re literally middle grade novels” tag collection, I really don’t relate to this image of seventh graders as people who have no concept of life’s unpleasantness. Even if you have a stable home life and aren’t being discriminated against for some aspect of your identity, you are literally in seventh grade, which is terrible.

The talk about a Hubert/Mercedes support reminds me: Hubert's post-ts advice box note also implies that he used to be religious, so that would have been interesting to explore in a support between them.
Good point!
I think what made Hubert be anti-theist (idk if that's the right word) is that he's experienced and seen the evil humans and other living beings had the capacity of performing more than what could be considered "divine". First he saw his own father betray everything he taught him by taking part of the Insurrection and then saw what TWSITD did to Edelgard and overall how they puppeteered the empire from behind the scenes.
I think it would be somewhat difficult for him to talk about that kind of stuff with Mercedes without revealing too much, but it would be interesting for a conversation between someone who's very devoted and someone who lost faith in a deity.
