[Found Chatlog] The Gamer.

This interview originally took place on February 4th, 2023.

Just as before, the phone in front of you powers on once again, a bright screen shining back to life, with someone else off in their own world this time. Whoever is in front this time seems preoccupied for a while, minding their own business absentmindedly. They seem to be sat in a well-kept, yet room on the messier side. It seems to be a comfortable apartment, with a few sweaters scattered across a chair, or the bed, and a couple of small trinkets, or inanimate objects out of place. It isn't until long before they *do* eventually take notice of whoever's there to greet them, and when they finally do.. you can make out a smile being offered in your direction, with a curious gaze made your way, before they lean in to greet you.

What are the qualities you like about ameripan? Are there moments in the canon that stand out to you or aspects of their dynamic that appear special or interesting?

Also, which ships from other fandoms would you compare their dynamic to? I see them kind-of like Jayce and Mel from Arcane (minus the manipulation when it comes to non-historical Hetalia).

Aaaaah hmmmm I always find it hard to put my thoughts into words but i'll try... Idk i just think they mesh really well together? Alfred is a very energetic person and he needs someone that will be patient with him, and Kiku is exactly that! Kiku is patient and kind while also having qualities such as being passionate about nerdy things, into video gaming etc, that line up well with Alfred's hobbies too and because of that I think they just go astonishingly well together :) I think the moment in canon that really made me ship them and that really stuck with me was in AP episode 50, the one with the table turning game? I think in the series that was probably one of the first and at that point, few, times we'd been allowed to see a gentler side of Alfred... He was surprised that Kiku was insecure about being able to make friends with the rest of the world, and spun his game to reassure him... And I think looking out for someone else like that isn't something super common coming from Alfred, so that scene always stuck with me because I found it really sweet.

But I think they have a lot of moments in canon that show off their relationship and whether you see them as having a platonic or romantic relationship you have to admit they have a lot of great content in the show and manga! I think one of my favorite episodes ever, if not my number 1, is ep 7 of TBW, the one where they live together! I love how domestic it is and how much despite their differences, they maintain a peaceful environment alongside each other. They hang out in such a chill way that you rarely see IMO!

I think it's a really fun episode all around, and I think the way that they interact in this episode is shown off really nicely! Kiku supports Alfred in being energetic, whilst still anchoring him a little and keeping him down to earth, without being cruel towards him. I think on the other hand, Alfred gives Kiku room to unwind, and gives him someone he can be more relaxed and maybe more himself around?

I think it's also cute how Alfred's first go-to is often Kiku, if he needs help or he's trying to plan something silly, or if he just wants to hang out! The way they just chill with no conflict is a nice draw to the pairing I think.

Yeah, I just think they're neat ngl!

I know some people who aren't very fond of the pairing see it as kind of one-sided and I think that's fine - but the way I see it is just that they express affection in very different ways to one another, which just comes with their highly contrasting personalities. Alfred is over the top and loud with his affection, but Kiku is content to just be around Alfred! They're shown hanging out so much, even in recent strips, that even if you see them just as friends their relationship is really undeniable!

I hope that.... helps, anon? ^^' Maybe I went off too much HJFGHDJF idk I just rly like this ship!

As for comparing them to other fandoms hmmm I'm not really sure... I... don't rly do much with other fandoms these days TwT

Yesterday, as a matter of fact. I was listening to the Girs OST, and the final song came up, and it got me to think of my relationship with my inner self in a different way. I normally feel hate towards the part of me that constantly puts me down and chases a false perfection, but maybe he's hurting too, and needs some love and healing

3. Do you have kids?

Do the OC concepts in my head count?

Hmmm, I dunno. I guess my sarcasm level is mid? Like, I can use it to joke around, but I don't use it with malice

5. What sports do you play/used to play

Did swimming for a long time, some football just to please my dad, and went to the gym for a while. Planning to go again once my military service is done

Their face

Hazel/honey coloured. They look quite pretty in the light

Happy endings all the way. Most scary movies actually piss me off

so i’ve been tagged by @kidsarentallwrite for this one, and @a-ray-of-moonshine , so i’ll be answering both here! thank you so much for thinking of me! <3 What song makes your OC go absolutely, batshit feral? okay i really don’t know the answer to this one, but hmmmm let me think . i think that zhen’s the sort to sing songs loudly and obnoxiously just to be an annoying ass and lu’d join her, and then yu(f) would be really mega pissed because she’s right in the next room trying to do some work when these two tone-deaf idiots are screeching their lungs out in the kitchen so yes, zhen & lu’s singing would make yu(f) go absolutely feral. anything they sing. i think the OTHER yu(m) would go absolutely feral when jun, being a lil piece of shit who likes to get on his nerves, sings songs about rain. because yknow, yu(m)’s name means rain. right now the song i’m thinking of is jay chou’s 听见下雨的声音 (which means, listen to the sound of rain falling) and jun would sing it whenever yu(m) tries to say something because of, yknow, the title. and then blatantly ignore whatever yu(m)’s trying to say. so yes, the two yu(s) lead very sad lives. please give them more love. (though i’d understand if you don’t, one is an Antisocial Edgelord and one is an Edgy Antisocial Lording Over Others . there’s a difference) What would your OC go on an hours long rant about given the opportunity? for shou? anything. absolutely anything. off the top of my mind, the sun (i’ve mentioned this so many times, don’t even ask), names (names have meanings to him!! why is zhen called zhen and teng called teng? why is he called shou??? a lot of them don’t share in his sentiments but he has Very Strong Feelings about it) lu is about his sad existence as a little boy who is starving on the streets. he’d say it often in the kitchen, when zhen is preparing some food. zhen would be about rising costs of living and capitalism and having to work when they’re dead and yu(f) being a loser who only wants to work and teng being a loser who can’t get any girls and about how life is meaningless and the only solace is sleep and jia would rant with her for the fun of it yu(f) would rant about zhen, yu(m) would rant about jun, teng would rant about love and loneliness and ren would run away. (yes that was a pun, if you got it please appreciate) Do your OCs have tattoos? If not, would they ever get a tattoo? Why or why not? i think i’ve answered this somewhere before??? not very sure . but yea anyway shou thinks it’s blasphemous but he would also consider one, zhen can’t be bothered, lu is a little kid WHAT ARE YOU ASKING FROM HIM teng is deathly afraid of the pain and it’s plainly obvious, jun isn’t scared of the pain but can’t be bothered either but also might already have one, you never know, yu(f) thinks it’s a waste of money, yu(m)... i feel like he might have one, not sure why. jia probably has one, some nice gorgeous insta-worthy one on her collarbone or on her back. ren probably has one but he keeps it hidden and no one knows about it. You bump into your OC on the street unexpectedly. How do you react? oh no. which one? if i catch shou in a distracted mood, i probably can get away without him yammering in my ears. if it’s zhen, i’ll probably get sued for something and she’ll try to extort something from me. probably the bubble tea in my hands, or the money in my wallet. probably. for lu he’d extort food. even if it’s in my stomach. yu(f) would be the one who bumps into me and continues marching off because she is a busy woman and ain’t got time for this. ren would probably apologise and yknow, be a normal, nice human being. yu(m) would just stare and maybe walk away, but he looks fierce so it probs looks like he’s glaring and i’ll be scared shitless. or be pissed, depends on my mood. teng would apologise a lot a lot and offer to get my things (even if i hadn’t dropped them) and be a sputtering mess because unfortunately i am Woman and he cannot deal jun would ignore probably. depending on his mood, might make some cryptic comment that’s slightly disturbing. or he’d be really charming . who knows? jia would also probably react like a normal human being. not the nicest, but normal anyway. Which vines best describe your OCs? i am a failure and i don’t really know vines If your WIP is ever adapted into another form of media, what form would you like? Film, television, comic, podcast? Any others? sitcom, probably. also considering the amount of talking they do, maybe podcast. definitely not film. there’s no plot here. maybe theatre, just for fun. What is your favourite part about writing? what are you talking about?? Is you got to have a conversation with your favourite author, what would you talk about? the only author i can think of now is rick riordan and i’d talk about how i appreciate that he’s just doing what he wants and making it fun for him and diversity and lame humour and stupid characters and all that crap Have any writing habits or quirks? don’t write enough to have some. HAHA just kidding i have many many run-on sentences but i need them for RHYTHM and BEAT and FEELING you know???? long sentences are my jam and they help create music structure in writing do NOT TAKE THEM AWAY FROM ME also use oxford commas. sue me. What do you prefer: dialogue or action? stupid banter-ish dialogue. evocative atmospheric-ish contemplation and inner musings no one acts. Who is the first Writeblr you followed? Do you remember why you followed them? i really don’t know! sorry! --

1. Is there a trope you never get tired of? characters who share One brain cell. family. long rambling stories that go nowhere really bad humour yes some of these are not tropes, i am aware.

2. Who is your least favorite character in your WIP? Why? gasps!!! okay so let’s go down the list, i hate shou because he’s annoying as hell and he talks so much he himself gives 4k worth of dialogue in a single chapter, i hate zhen because she doesn’t do or admit to anything and trying to figure her out is like trying to get a worm to walk on two feet, i hate lu because he only talks about food and be a dirty lil kid, i hate ren because he is too nice and doesn’t think for himself, i hate teng because he gets easily bullied and he also talks too much for no damn reason, i hate jun because he keeps himself too deep and it’s impossible to get him to do anything serious, i hate yu(f) because she only works and literally there’s nothing to describe in her boring one bedroom can she get out of her room already, i hate yu(m) because i still don’t know him well enough after all these months, i hate jia because somehow i keep forgetting her in these tag games even though her presence is Big in the wip yup there you go. they’re all my least favourite.

3. Let’s say I’m planning to visit the setting of your WIP for a weekend. What should I take with me? What are the most important things for me to know beforehand? Which of your characters should I ask to be my guide? uh. i’d just say Don’t. don’t visit. it’s not a good thing, you can’t choose to visit anyway, you can’t take anything with you because yknow, well there’s this little chinese saying i kinda abide by for this wip and i’m lazy to type it out now but it was in my previous chinese mytho au drabble so yea also. guide????? maybe the safest might be ren, but also not really. hm. if you want an enthusiastic little puppy, choose shou. but he might talk your ears off and annoy you so you know, pick your poison 4.Beginning, middle, or end—which is the hardest for you as a writer?

lol i have no interests okay really. hm. i used to draw a little bit but i’ve stopped, used to play piano but i’ve stopped, used to play cello but i’ve stopped. so yea, really, nothing much.

7. How close is your WIP now to what you were expecting it to be when you just started?

i’ve finished the first draft since the start of the year, which is great and i totally didn’t expect it! .... am barely into the second draft though, so that’s a bummer. you see, this is why sometimes you shouldn’t get achievements. once that one milestone is reached you just lie down there at the rest stop and never get up.

8. What are your plans for when you finish your WIP? Traditional publishing? Indie publishing? Putting it online for others to read for free?

traditional probs, because i don’t trust myself enough to do it on my own and i have little visual sensibilities so the cover would be hella ugly. also like, not even sure if traditional publishers would want my odd little plotless thing, but yknow, i like it.

9. Your MC is here. On your doorstep. Planning to spend the day with you. Oh, and they know you’re the author responsible for everything that’s going on in the story right now. Are you expecting it to be a nice conversation, or do you maybe want to run and hide? :D

thank god i consider my MC to be shou instead of zhen. oh yea he’ll have lots of questions and he’ll poke at my brains a lot and he’d be hella noisy and also he’ll be sweating a lot because of his clothes and long hair, but still thank god it’s shou for the rest of them, i’d run and hide in the bottom of the ocean.

10. Name a song that could be your villain’s personal anthem.

eh. there’s no villain. if you consider the author to be the villain though hMMM i have favourite songs but no personal anthems, sorry

11. Is there anything you would never, ever write a story about, even if you were offered a large sum of money to do so?

eh. probs something like a law drama-ish thing. too many long words and complex jargon, not my kinda thing.

Carson sings, much to the chagrin of everyone else. He’s fully aware he’s terrible but enjoys it too much to stop. If he were in our world, he’d sing mostly 80′s and 90′s rock and pop.

Rosalyn draws her own tattoos then tattoos herself, which i think is pretty creative? Lorelei also designs and makes her own clothes, bc shes sick of everything being too big/tall/etc.

22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how?

I mean, I’ve only shown people one story (and that has yet-to-be-completed) and so far everyone seems to be coming off as I intended, so not yet?

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

Rosalyn was originally a more Natasha Romanov/Black Widow-esque character, bc I thought all female fighter types had to be like that. It took me a while to figure out that, since I wanted to do something different, I could. So I made her more brutal, less graceful, more blunt and less “sexy”. Just overall different, because I’m interested in seeing more lady characters who fight in a way that’s more “ugly”.

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?

Oh wow, I think I’d like to meet Lorelei? I think she’d be really fun to talk to, especially with all her random knowledge.

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)

Derick certainly (unintentionally) looks the most like me, with the blond curly hair and the blue eyes, plus he’s insecure and anxious most of the time, and doesn’t always know what to do in social situations.

26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will?

Not against my will, necessarily? Like, I’ve made plenty of changes, but that was always becasue I figured something out that I liked more, or that I thought fit better with the story.

27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song?

Some characters I’ve figured out their style or personality through listening to songs, like the main baes Carson, Derick, Rosalyn, as well as a few others that haven’t been introduced yet ;)

Probs Rosalyn and Andromeda, they both know other people would just try to convince them not to go.

Robin bc shes 9 so duh, I almost feel like Lorelei would too for some reason? She gets stressed and needs to fall into a pile of fluffy toy animals.

31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)

Lorelei’s would be all cutesy and girly and pastel, and she’d probably reblog “hack” posts and videos, as well as makeup tutorials. Would post updates and how-tos on her latest fashion designs. Her most popular post is a tutorial on how to add pockets to the inside of skirts.

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why?

My first instinct was Rosalyn, until I realized her first instinct would be to square up and try to punch the horror game monster, and she’d probably die immediately. Carson could be helpful in attacking the monster too, but he’s also quite impulsive. Maybe Lorelei or Derick, as they aren’t as inclined to go into places where the monster would obviously be, but they might be intuitive about how to figure their way out.

I think I tend to make characters that fit squarely into one of three categories:

charming and confident (aka prime falling-in-love characters)

soft and quiet (cinnamon rolls)

or fighty characters ((ง'̀-'́)ง)

Chime’s opinion piece on my ocs

A: is the most attractive. "A handful. Definitely Paxton, then Marco. And I would add others [I can't hear what she said in between] and Avis has nerd hair. I would also say Sol but I know he's a real stinkin nerd so. Put in Cowboy Sol. Cowboy Sol's a little more pure than normal Sol." me: Are you sure [her fan is really loud so I didn’t hear]

B: gets bored the fastest. "B is..... uhhhhhhh PC. Like 10000%." me: 10 thousand or 2 thousand? "10 thousand. Tee-yun. She needs hobbies."

C: is the most open to cuddling. "That's Michale and Marco and Sol... and Rococo. Yeah. I would also say Carota but she doesn't get that, so... sorry. At least not as much."

D: fears death the most. "Gosh.... um. Excel. I don't know what else to add."

E: is the most emotive. "Hmmmm.... dddddddd..... I'll sayyy..... Rajah. He's a big ol whiny baby."

F: is my favorite. "...is Michale. It's just Michale. Sorry Avis, I like you too. I like em both. I like Michale. But Avis is just my boy, and Michale's my son. " me: It's like, don't get me wrong, I like other characters, but... Michale. "Yeah. Sorry."

I: tends to idolize people they shouldn't. "is also Guye. I don't know if you agree with that or not [I do.] Tryin to think. I dunno if there's anyone else."

J: tells the most dad jokes. "Mmmmmarco." me: Just Marco? "Well, Carota tells puns but... does she tell dad jokes? I dunno. Also Rococo. Let's put him in there too. There's my answer"

K: is the most skilled in the kitchen. "Pppaxton. And Marco tries. How good is Marco." me: Yeah, he's got, he's got nice cookin. "I guess I'll put him in there too. Can Frieda cook?" me: Of course she can! [silence]

L: lies the most. "Hmm. Sol? Not really the most, but he's the first one who came to mind. All I can think of is Sol, but it's not very deep." [I would've said Howo or Mourty but I don't think you know them it's okay] "Wait, is... How-o one of them?" me: Who? "Howo?" me: I didn't think you were gonna guess her! [she said her name differently]

M: is the biggest memer. "Carota? (made a sound like Iunno but it wasn't really a phrase at all) " [yeah]

N: needs way more attention from me. "Bruno." me: Wait, who? "Bruno! And Barbie. And, in your Dapper Dolphin Club. Probably like a LOT more but I'll just say those three."

O: has the most OCs of their own. "That one OC that has their own OCs. You know the one. Vivian." [I was thinking Comet actually but yes, her too] "Oh, and Comet? Put him down too."

P: is the purest, most perfect cinnamon roll. "Rococo P is Michale and Marco. Also Rococo, put Rococo before Michale. Because Michale is a good boy, but he has Captain, so is he really pure?"

me: OH MY GOD

"Don't put that down. Also, Marco. [I asked her about order] Nah, you can just throw him in there."

Q: is the quickest to judge others. "My guess is.... Avis. A-vis. [yeah] And also, I would say Rajah but I don't know why. I just feel it in my heart." [probably]

R: feels the most detached from reality. "So R............ R is Monti. [huh?] And I guess Destin. He's pretty detached. (laughs) Jokes. Yeah. Sea? Put her in there too." me: Oh, you're right. I forgot about her...

S: has the strongest spirit. "I would say..... Michale and Rococo. They're my default, I guess. Put Jam in there too. She seems strong." [would have also said Lorna.]

T: is the most terrifying. "I dunno. Who's the spooky scary?" me: I dunno! [my voice raised an octave] "It sounds like you do. [I really don't.] I'd say you can put in Bruno. He's not like physically scary because he’s a pretty but he's probably verbally scary."

U: is the most unapologetic for the way they live their life. "Michale............................................ Michale's like the answer to everything." me: what's two plus two? Michale. [silence] "Yes."

V: is the best at video games. "Carota. And Marco maybe, I don't know if he's good." [He is]

W: watches the most anime. "Marco cuz of his ......................................... giff. [theres a silence] me: OH like GF? "YEP!" [I would have also said Comet]

X: is the most xenial toward complete strangers. "Okay I have three answers. A. Guye [yeah] B. Frieda [almost] C. Michale. I put him in last this time. [yeah]"

Y: yells the most. "Y is obvious. And it's Paxton. That's a joke. It's Rajah."

Z: gets the most overzealous over something others wouldn't expect. "Sol about STINKING COWBOYS. I'm gonna drag everyone [unintelligible]. PC about beef. Michale about candles. Um...... who, who did I..... Sol, Michale, oh yeah, that's kind of expected of PC though. Hmmm..... I guess I'm done dragging." [see also: Michale about candy, Rococo about Beyonce]
