I drew Demon Strade from memory and have absolutely 0 recollection how big he actually is lmao. Side note the subtitle for this in my head was "it's dangerous to go alone take this" except its not Strade saying it XDD)

Keep in mind that one of Rire's powers is that he can, essentially, step sideways into a Gate in one country, navigate a void space for a few minutes/seconds, and then exit from another Gate somewhere in another country lol.

There's a bunch of different AUs/verses (because i like sticking my characs in them for fun) where he's technically an "ordinary guy" and to answer your question in ever single one of them he is in some position of power :d Eg: Headmaster, mafia boss, compound leader in a zombie apoc, high ranking military official, rich and popular college kid (this one somewhat debatable as BTD!College AU doesnt specify whether Rire is actually human or not XD) etc.

Every single Royal in the Nether is considered a dictator and Rire is no exception. His subjects consider him one of the more preferable ones because a) kind of leaves them alone for the most part, b) if he is inflicting terror on them/someone it's usually for a reason (as far as they know) and c) the economy has been doing great since he came into power.

You can consider Rire more of an...acquirer. Meaning that if he can't do something, he has an extensive network of people who owe him a favour or several that might be able to. Also loopholes exist hahahahah

If he's not exchanging for your soul, he's folding you into this network, that's how he works.

Rire's ego is not so big that he wouldn't be calculatively thinking about how best to exploit this |D

Oh yeh he def has servants to do a bunch of stuff for him! However, he has only been a Royal for a relatively short amount of time so he does actually know how to cook etc by himself if required.

The sense factor for this essentially 🫲🏻"is a demon (and a feeling of how powerful they might be)" and 🫱🏻 "is not a demon" which usually means a human lol. For your qs case, maybe only if said human was exceptionally powerful (so that the oddness registered as something "off" human) OR if they were using said power at the time (as happens with Battle Priests).

IDK if this really makes sense for the character but I had a thought. What about Stain from MHA as a platonic yandere with a Darling who he wants to train to be his successor/help kill heroes with him? Since the series is so big on successor stuff, I thought it would be interesting to see xD He just spares Darling's life and sort of adopts them(Darling is an adult btw). Darling isn't so wild about this but also they don't want to die, so?? I guess this could be a one-shot but if you prefer to do a concept/summary that's ok too!

The idea seems very interesting but I'll probably stick with a concept just to make sure I get my thoughts down and have to focus a bit less on plot ^^; But in the future I could do a follow up short for this!

The idea of Stain/Chizome taking in a successor is an odd concept that doesn't seem like it would be a thought in his mind.

However... I feel like it's possible.

I especially like the idea if his obsession is a lesser known vigilante who genuinely likes to help people and has conviction.

You don't want fame or money, you just want to help people.

Essentially, if you appeal to Stain's beliefs, he'd consider deeming his obsession worthy.

Stain's one of the more intimidating yanderes, both aura and Quirk-wise.

So him sparing you is a surprise to you.

Granted, he's spared others he deems are worthy before.

But you're different... as he finds you worthy enough to spread his message.

I imagine he'd think this if he observed you enough to see you had similar ideals.

Even something as simple as acknowledging modern heroes as corrupt could set Stain's sights on you.

You have potential and he wants to sharpen it.

Your first proper meeting could be brutal if you think about it.

Perhaps you have a friend who's a hero that Stain doesn't see as pure, just to make things dark.

His intention is to kill your friend, but notices you.

Stain probably will kill your "false hero" friend, but finds your attitude and drive intriguing.

He doesn't feel bad about killing your friend, paralyzing you both with his Quirk before casting his judgment on them.

Yet his eyes lock on you when he sees you.

That passion in your eyes... you feel similar to him, don't you?

You may hate being compared to him, but don't you hate it when heroes are corrupt?

You may not believe it, yet your friend didn't have the best intentions as a "hero".

Stain intimidates you in your first encounter.

Your first encounter starts as a battle and ends with you covered in blood.

That's a way I feel you two could meet that follows how the request is asked.

You start only going along with it because you're terrified.

But over time I can see Stain brainwashing his new successor into believing him.

Think about it...

Stain convinces you that your friend really was corrupt.

He tells you he doesn't like pointless bloodshed, that the only ones who deserve to die are the ones against his creed.

So... obviously your friend was corrupt, right?

Stain shows his successor the corruption of the world, feeding you new beliefs since you're so scared of him.

He does wish you'd stop being so scared, though... not like he's going to hurt you.

I can see his obsession being very hesitant at first.

You hate the idea of murder, Stain finds this purity of yours... oblivious.

That's okay, he'll fix things as your mentor.

Stain would tell you all about a target he's been keeping an eye on.

He'll manipulate you, telling you all the terrible things they've supposedly done.

They're corrupt... just like your friend... a stain on this world.

Stain would mess with his successor's beliefs and mind to mold them into who he wants.

Sooner or later you'll see you're just cleaning up scum.

Despite the brutal lifestyle Stain thrusts upon you, he cares about you.

It's really weird to say that... considering Stain is usually cruel and merciless as the Hero Killer.

Yet he does have respect for fellow vigilantes, he's even attached to his successor.

Granted... the way he obtained you was brutal... but he'd do just about anything to keep you in his care.

Spilling blood for you becomes the norm since he's so fixated on keeping you safe.

You seem to be the only thing he cares about other than his creed.

Your new job naturally comes with enemies and no one gets near you without Stain nearby.

Hero, villain, doesn't matter to him.

Nothing touches his successor.

When he cuts someone down, he immediately checks on you.

Perhaps he even pulls you into a possessive yet oddly protective embrace.

He teaches you an "Us vs Them" mentality.

You shouldn't rely on anyone else, you can't.

It's just you and him cleaning up a corrupt society.

You'd probably go through a mental mind break under him as he forces you into a role against your will.

You're scared to speak against him, especially when he manages to convince you to kill your fair share of "heroes".

However, at some point you'll accept the role Stain gave you.

You have no other choice... yet he's also brought up some valid points.

He's right... The world is corrupt.

Stain makes it seem like you both are the only ones who can correct it.

You start to believe him... it scares you at first but you feel what he says is true.

Repeating the beliefs he's indoctrinated you with in your head makes things easier.

It makes it easier to ignore the fact you're taking lives...

It's easier to think of it as just culling impurities.

Stain praises you every time.

You do well, the blood on your clothes a reminder of your work.

After your encounter with Stain, you never came out the same.

He took you under his wing and taught you everything you need to know.

While you know this feels wrong... it also feels right...

There's no turning back now, you should finish the job as your mentor says... all to make the world a better place... it's just you and him against the world, right?

First of all I should probably say that my favorite type of stories (so the type you might find in the list bellow) is ’tragedy comedy adventure’ without any romance, but possibly a lot of bromance | tension (ok some BL slipped by me into this list). And rather self destructive mc for the sake of their goal (often to the utter despair of the people who care about them xd). Bring forth conflicts and battles of will and rising against destiny !

I’m not that kind of talent (Ongoing)

In reality, Deon Hardt is a sickly human who coughs up blood from receiving the tiniest bit of stress and gets sunburns from standing in the sun for ten minutes. Caught in a war between humans and demonkind, Deon must find a way to survive!

I discovered that one this year! I love comediy and tragedy mixed together, and that one fully achieved that, from making me laugh to absolutely destroying my heart seriously i am still hurting. Well this is a tragedy. Be warned. But a delicious one. (My heart TT.TT).

The Ember Knight (Ongoing)

When Nagyunn’s twin brother, Najin, is murdered before his very eyes, he vows to avenge his brother’s death by assuming Najin’s identity. But although the two may look alike, when it comes to fighting, Nagyunn lacks the talent and skill his brother possessed. Another one I discovered ’recently’ = last year. I absolutely adore the fact that the mc rely fully on wits and bluff. He will never get a cheat skill to get as strong as others- he just has to play his card rights (which happen to be a bunch of overprotective knights wishing he stopped going in front of the blade path). So he gotta bluff. A lot. Including playing betrayal at every corner, and i sure love betrayal :3. That and it’s a revenge story ~

TAL (Complete)

They walk like ordinary people, they talk like ordinary people but in fact there is nothing ordinary about them since they can materialize an image they have on their mind... They call themselves Chachaoong which also means Shaman and they do not know how or when they came to this world. It is now a time for their current king to choose the future one and so he did by choosing Yu Jin an ordinary human...? Many of the Chachaoong can not tolerate a human ruling them and now the poor Yu Jin not knowing what suddenly hit him, is trying to avoid the Chachaoongs who are trying to kill him!

This has been my second favorite after Black Haze for a long time, because I got a soft spot for escapists xd. All the more escapists with consequences catching them back faster than they can run until they’re cornered ☆.☆ Fight until the end against a fate you are doom to surrender to ~ I love it.

Catharsis (Complete)

Fear is a powerful emotion that can end up overtaking one's life. Leon thought he knew that. But when he's thrown into the demonic realm that Catharsis governs over, he'll learn that there is more to “true” fear than he could ever have imagined... But will he learn how to face it?

That one also stayed in my mind for a long time. The ending is more ’open’ than I would have wished, but well, there is no sequel yet so let’s call that an ending. Appart from that i loved the mc, and he has synesthesis which give really cool result in webtoon format (yay colors). In a world where nightmares take physical shape, the mc get attacked by nightmares and end up being recruited by the agency fighting nightmares bcs they feel smthg off about him.

Crepuscule (Complete)

Lark is different from the rest of the kids. He has red eyes, just like Vampires do, and he is bullied by the other kids for it. One day he meets Setz, a genuine Vampire of a Noble clan who is the only one that doesn't call him a monster or bully him. Eventually they become friends, but when Lark finds out he may have to return to the orphanage, Setz decides he does not want to lose his friend, so he invites him to his home... The world of the Vampires.

Another webtoon i grew up with as a teen. It isn’t my all time fav, but i still quite enjoyed it enough to reread it a few times. Must be the blond mc that reminded me of Rood xd. Or the fact that he is super weak in a world of monsters. Or the reason he has those red eyes. (Such delicious angst amidst the comedy). Are those just a trope I enjoy? XD

Godly Bells (Complete)

Divine Bells - they choose their own masters and they determine the status, prestige, and influence of the countries their masters rule. The presence or lack of these Bells also has great consequence in the lives of each country's royalty. In particular, the personal and political futures of King Hong-Ryeong seem doomed without a Bell, but at equally great peril if he obtains one. But are the Divine Bells simple magical charms, deities of great powers, or something else altogether? And when the owner of three of the eight existing Divine Bells dies, leaving them to choose new owners, where will the resulting turmoil lead?

Another blond mc i grew up with as a teen and reread a few time. And another ’king’ who is ’weak’. It’s in a fantasy world, where divine ’bells’ give each king (and thus each country) power. The mc country hasn’t been chosen by any bells for years, so quite look down upon. Until three bells at least or smthg choose the mc. And then they become people, with their own agenda. The mc didn’t want the attention but well can’t convince the bells to drop him xd. Which is why i loved this story. Once again, can’t escape fate even when you didn’t want it ~

Aegis Orta (Complete)

Val is an ordinary high school student who dedicates his life to God. His peaceful days however have to end when he learns about who he really is..

Very much in the same vibe of Godly Bells and Crepuscule, only I discovered it later and thus have less memories of it (bcs reread it less). It’s another blond character with red eyes that get ’fate’ thrown at its face ~ well. Demon powers. Same.

I’m not gonna put Mxtx’s works here (Heaven Official Blessing, Mo Dao Zu Shi, Scum Villain Self Saving System), but they’re great too. If you love comedy and tragedy and don’t mind BL too much. Go for it. I usually don’t enjoy romance that much but it didn’t bother me with those works, bcs it’s presented so naturally into the story rather than harassing us every second. Phantom Paradise is also a BL, although entirely different vibe. It’s what would happen with matriarchat instead of patriarchat but all the toxicity remain - only gender roles are reversed. As for why I enjoyed it so much... I guess I am still somewhat sensitive to fan service ? XD

I also feel like I should mention UnderPrin, even if it didn’t make it all the way to my favs, kind of similar vibe to Catharsis and Aegis Orta. I’ll also mention Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist which is a manga but another blond character in the same vibe of the earlier ones, who refuse his own power XD. And Pandora Hearts because its my favorite manga ever. I even prefer it to Black Haze (but I think someone who liked one would also like the other?).

Fangs of Fortune: the Ultimate Plot Twist

We may say whatever we want about the plot, but this one thing is actually so bizarrely and beautifully made, and I just realized it - like everything that happened in the show literally started with one petty demonic woman who has fallen in love with a human man who didn't reciprocate her feelings.

It all began with Princess Long Yu - both Zhao Yuanzhou's downfall (and subsequently Zhuo Yichen's tragedy) and Wen Xiao's Goddess arc.

She was the one who killed Wen Xiao's father (yes, by accident, we can blame the fate all we want but that did start with her), leading to Bai Ze Goddess finding Wen Xiao and later mentoring her to become the next one.

Princess Long Yu was also the one who at least helped turn Wen Zong Yu into the monster he later became. The man must have had that seed of shittiness in him to go all supervillain on the whole demonic kind, but still, it all started with the Princess killing off his pregnant wife (ehics, morality, kindness, humanity? not her cup of tea). If she hadn't fallen in love with Wen Zong Yu, there's a chance he wouldn't have turned out like that.

And that means - no burning wood, no Zhu Yan getting it into his body, no hurting/killing Li Lun, and then losing it on the blood moon. Like the whole arc of Zhao Yuanzhou's deathwish also started with that one Princess doing what she did D:

And then later they both, Zhao Yuanzhou and Wen Xiao come to her, the main source that kickstarted each of their fates and snowballed them into becoming what each of them turned out to be D: And they ask her for her scale and she gives it to them knowing that it would be her death? As an actual attempt to somehow redeem herself? Because that one cruel choice she made, that one murder affected EVERYONE in the series.

This is such a powerful move plot-wise, actually, and it ties everything so beautifully that I have to give Mr. Guo a thousand more kudos for this show, like seriously, the plot was so good (well, for me, it was good for me :D I won't see them plot holes even if I fall right into them XD).

Also, stupid question maybe, but does Midnight have like public relationships with other businessmen and all, or is he a bit more like someone known to work by himself?

I don't really know how to plot because my forte is not slice of life.

But if you want me to share a little idea, Murder Time Trio will be friendly with each other and not bitter like in IE. Midnight, when filming in his post-AO form, had to wear a lot of shoe inserts to get him a 192cm figure, and had to use a lot of camera angle to look smaller (160cm) in the pre-AO scenes XD.

The rest you can do as you like since it's your AU, but I don't think Bright and Midnight will get along even as actors, I like the idea of them being adoptive brothers but ended up hating each other through life, they might even be enemies in the industry XD

Midnight likes to "build his own empire" in the industry, so he can be both a studio owner and a famous actor, this IE project however is from another studio, not his.

Oh my god

Au where after Mr Bakura fuckin dies from ring/zorc exposure (dsod) and Yami Bakura/Zorc kills Shadi (and the child cult???) Ryou is left alone in the temple. A few days later, representatives from the Ishtar clan arrive, and they decide to take Ryou in since a Millennium Item chose him as its true host. So underground he goes!

Upon his arrival, Forefather (Mr Ishtar) tries to take away the ring from him because surely this heathen can't be the one true bearer of the ring, but the ring spikes dig themselves into poor baby Ryou's chest so that's a no go. Ryou is down for a few days, and Rishid ends up taking care of him during that time. Malik barges in once, demanding Ryou to play with him, but Rishid manages to persuade him to leave Ryou to recover.

After he gets back on his feet, Forefather graciously allows him to keep the ring, and he gets adopted into the Ishtar clan to the same degree as Rishid. So he's sort of like a lower class servant? Rishid and Ryou grow closer while he teaches Ryou about his duties and chores, while Malik gets increasingly more jealous in the background because Rishid is paying some newcomer kid more attention than him. It gets even worse for him when Isis starts babying the timid kid despite Ryou literally being older than him and not even being the sane class as them. He gets a bit more aware of his alter, and he starts getting more withdrawn.

Something happens, which causes Ryou and Malik to get trapped in an abandoned dark room together, and they are forced to confront each other. Malik is fully on the offensive, but Ryou is mostly just trying to diffuse the situation. Malik freaks out when their oil lamp flickers, but Ryou manages to distract him with stories of the surface world. They talk a little, and Ryou opens up about the ring and the voices which Malik can sort of relate to. After the light burns out, Malik nearly snaps and switches, but his new friend(?) is able to soothe him with a big warm hug and maybe lullabies his mother used to sing to him and Amane. Rishid and Isis manage to find them.

Plot progresses as usual, but now Ryou is present. He goes up with Malik and Isis to the surface to show them around and unconsciously lifts the motorcycle magazine Malik liked. When they go back down, they see the Forefather nearly killing Rishid and Malik snaps. Yamima comes out to front and catches the whip midair before it could strike them. Yami B also subtly takes over just in case to protect the host body and to observe. Yamima gets the rod but is embarrassingly clumsy with it, clumsy enough to warrant Bakura tell him the key to using it properly. Isis is mortified but quickly puts two and two together and realises that the baby is possessed by a fuckin demon. Yamima does the murder/skinning bit, and Bakura just laughs. He says goodbye and gives control back to Ryou while Yamima goes after Rishid. Ryou again manages to calm him down and Rishid whisks them away after he comes to, leaving Isis and the rest of the clan behind.

Ryou and Malik grow up and start the Ghouls together. Bakura takes care of a lot of food and resources in the early days, but Ryou eventually learns from him and becomes just as good. He's also trying to tame Yamima part-time, which is not going as well as he'd like.

Timeskip to when Yugi lends the puzzle to the museum. Malik gets notified of the completed puzzle being exhibited in Japan, so he sends Ryou ahead to scout and establish himself as a friendly face to Yugi. The rest of the plot again progresses as normal with the difference of Ryou being a bit more cheeky and pushier than in canon, Bakura and him actually working together and an extra reveal of him being involved Malik the whole time.

I'm gonna cut it off here because I don't know how to continue from here... But rest assured, there's definitely some weird ass conspireshipping dynamics involved here XD

The Hundred Line: Multiple Eitos

Like a clear, empty field lit by a pale blue moon...

The Great!

Can we just take a brief moment to appreciate this route's name? This is a route name that promises insanity and IT DELIVERS!

I remember seeing a Tumblr post before about liking how Takumi/Eito isn't a thing because it means we can explore all the dark twisted aspects of their relationship... I can't help but wonder if they were thinking of this route when they wrote that post.

This is a cutscene-only, Takumi only interacts with one other character route, but unlike the other routes like this - It makes perfect sense for Takumi to only interaction with Eito because Eito is making damn sure he's not allowed to talk to anyone else ever again! This is Eito at his worst, haunting the narrative and haunting Takumi, and making it very clear that there will never be a good ending if Takumi kills him

This is another route that's short and sweet (lol) and doesn't overstay it's welcome (hell, I wouldn't have minded if it was longer!), but I do really wish we could have seen what day it was in that last ending...

I don't really talk much about the order I get the endings in, but I actually really love the order I got them in this time! My first ending was Eternal Hate. I foolishly thought that I had solved Eito's challenge - and I did imo - but Takumi did not and everyone pays the price for it. The final thing we see is a bloodstained Takumi completely consumed by hate while Eito recites that one line of poetic dialogue at the top that I would never have guessed THIS to be the context of. I thought it was going to be one of the routes where Eito doesn't hate us!

I really wonder what that line sounds like in Japanese. I know it's a play on their names

The next ending was going back and not giving in to hate in hopes that that makes things better somehow. Well Takumi did reach the same answer I did, but far too late, and forces his friends to stop his rampage by killing him. You'd think we could have a nice dying as yourself moment as he fades but NOPE! Eito is not having it!

Fine! The only winning move is not to play! And also not give Eito the satisfaction of hearing what he wants! Eito doesn't win, but he still gets the last laugh. Bastard.

(Honestly would be fun to see the natural continuation of this ending)

And then the final ending. If you told me Ryukishi07 wrote this route, I would instantly believe you. THIS is a quintessential When They Cry murder party and was the absolute perfect ending to end the route on! Takumi has found his answer, and we get to see him test his resolve to its absolute limits. If Eito wants to destroy with his mind, Takumi's going to destroy his body over and over and over and over... it's a very uncomfortable and disturbing read and I wouldn't have it any other way.

But still! Each successive ending has been slightly less despairing, so surely this one where Takumi is fighting back in full force can have some semblance of a happy ending, right?

And just when we have a tiny spark of hope, we're instantly plunged back into Despair.

I really hope Takumi doesn't remember this ending in the Plot Lock route xD

Also this route has some incredible CGs!

The Nitpicks I guess

I think not having any battles in this route was a missed opportunity. Can you imagine how funny it would have been! 1 Takumi, 10 Eitos! Maybe even 11!

So did Eito's challenge even have an answer in the end?

I continue to be deeply concerned by the SDU just going along with Takumi's breakdowns and not doing anything about them. Though kudos to them for (somehow) figuring out what exactly was wrong with him this time. But really guys? Cheering him on as he keeps killing himself???

Don't get me wrong, it was hilarious! But really guys!

Thinking about it some more though, I wonder if the Eito who (somehow) figured out exactly what was happening to Takumi was actually Hiruko, and she didn't figure it out so much as simply repeat what she'd learned in the ending where they mercy killed him. Her proceeding to not make any kind of sensible decision would be on brand at this point..

The Actual Not-So-Good

I think it’s pretty wild that there are so many people who hate the disc finale and stuff to such a degree of using whatever they can to replace it, meanwhile a lot of characters didn’t even get a finale. So which is better a resolution that you disagree with or no resolution at all? At least Dream and Tommy got to complete their story arc and growth, most of the other characters didn’t even get that. Even Punz and Jack don’t really have great resolutions specific to their characters in that finale and Tubbo’s is such a tragic ending to his character. And yet still, at least they have that, a bunch of people for the Egg finale just got straight up murdered and yet at least fans of those characters get a finale stream. Because Eret and Foolish’s XD one didn’t even get to happen. But at least their fans have the script, there are other characters who never got an ending at all, like Techno and Karl, who had massive plot things to wrap up and never did. There are so many characters in the dsmp and most of them didn’t get to have satisfying conclusions. We never got to see Sapnap confront Dream again or George wake up or Hannah get her wings back… etc. So for anyone who hates the finale - at least you get one. At least the character you loved got to say his final words and got to complete his story, because fans of many other characters didn’t even get that and most certainly didn’t get any sort of hopeful or happy ending. As much as I complain about having a lack of Dream pov and plot holes and questions left unanswered at least I get a whole lot of Dream at the end to work with. It’s not perfect, there are things I dislike, there are things I wish we had more on, but we really do get a lot and honestly I feel bad for any fan who didn’t get that. I feel like we get so busy fussing that we forget how lucky we are.

So my heart goes out to the fans of the characters and duos and trios who didn’t get a finale, who didn’t get an ending, who didn’t get a resolution to their character arc, I can’t even imagine how sad and frustrating that must be.<3

Inspired by No Way Home, Alec’s deal with asmodeus is instead that Magnus will get his magic and his immortality back but in exchange Alec Lightwood will be wiped from Everyone’s memory.

Bonus if Alec is made immortal in this, to suffer eternity as a stranger.

I’m just not sure how we get back to Malec or if they have to meet again.

Or if we say that just like the books, Ragnor hid in a pocket universe and when he comes back his phone has messages from Magnus pining for an Alec Lightwood perhaps with an image attached?

To be honest, I'm in favor of most things that change the "Break his heart for his own good" plot. (I believe I have posted here already why I hate it so much, so I won't bore you with it again. XD )

Immortal Alec is always a goal for me, because I need immortal Malec, because I cannot stand the thought of Magnus having to lose yet another person he loved so much.

And the memory wipe thing, I mean, I may be a little too blazé about this, but I don't think that needs to be such a bad thing. (though my personal dislike for big drama plays into this, so I'm probably just gonna think in far too simplified terms about this)

But, I mean, come on. It's not like Alec was blissfully happy with his lot in life, right? Magnus and his siblings, as I see it, were the only things he truly cherished. And with them, he can simply rebuild his relationship. Maybe not to what it was before where his siblings are concerned, but still something good. And with Magnus, he can strive to be even better.

And the immortality thing, maybe, since wiping Alec from everyon's memory is such a big scale operation, since it also invovles rewriting the memories of all those involved to make things make sense without Alec being a factor in all that had happened. Maybe that means that there is a balance kinda thing, where mortal Alec cannot exist where the memory of him doesn't exist. So his being needs to be made into something different. And so Alec becomes ... I don't know, an unseelie, or a dark fae, or a warlock, or a vampire, or whatever else is immortal, or maybe some kind of higher demon. With his own memories intact, but inaccessible to anyone else.

And then he can meet the group after that, while they are out closing a rift or whatever, and help them. Make a whole new entrance for himself. Start out as an ally, and then get absorbed into the group again.

Or meet Magnus first. Who would most likely still be single and having had his heart closed off for centuries. Meet him on more even footing, under better circumstances (like, not right after Magnus had lost some of his warlock friends to the circle members. I can't believe the show just hand waved that away. An apartment full of traumatized people who had just been attacked by murderous fanatics, but the shadowhunters needs came first, of course...)

Anyway, I think a setup like this could be made to do something really neat, without having to wade through too much drama.

It was a curse at the time but now he has you singing at beautiful clubs and you have a penthouse and you don't have to wait anymore. People love you.

And yes he scares you sometimes- but the terrible man can be undone by your voice.

You have a long history of going for the Wrong Guy. They're wrong because they're always taken already, a fact you only discover after the fact.

Now here's this guy- a rugged Australian guy from the middle of the outback. He's older and kindof uneducated and kind of brash but he always takes his hat off when he talks to you and opens doors for you, and... you're developing feelings for him.

He's completely not your type- you don't think he's ever dated before, and he definitely wouldn't have the sense of subtlety to pull off cheating. He wants you to be his one and only.

He thinks you're amazing. He thinks you're smart, funny, interesting, and beautiful. You feel kind of... greedy... finally having someone who just wants you.

But you're gonna make the jump. Whatever happens, happens. But at least this one truly wants you.

Imagine you're in the position of Joseph Pulitzer's secretary (Hannah's character). You only got this job to be a help to the Toon Patrol (Wheezy, especially ^^). In this position you could easily sway the writing in the papers in the patrols favour, striking out any bad press. Yes, they would still get a bad reputation via word of mouth but it would be unofficial. Good notoriety in the papers would at least offer them some mystique.

This is hard enough on you. You hate deceiving people. You hate what the Toon Patrol do! But you love Wheezy, and you have to help him.

When Joseph bumps up the price of the papers, making life so so much more difficult for the newsies- the poor children, - to do their jobs and earn enough money to even feed themselves- you go home overwhelmed and in tears.

Wheezy's there to gather you in his arms and glare at Smartass when he sighs at you (How silly you are (Its just business)). He never wanted you to do this job! He never wanted you to be apart of this crap.

And now here you are sobbing because you're so stressed out and so sad- and- he's gotta get you out of this. He will get you out of this.

Imagine being a indebted servant to Hades along with Meg except you don't do a whole lot of the... communications work, that Meg does. So you don't have to look as nice all the time. You're often in the underworld with Hades helping him strategize and doing paperwork-type stuffs. You're closer with Hades then Meg is but it has never been a flirty thing, with you two. Just friendly. He's grown to actually like you- he's happy when you're around- you can calm him down when he's starting to lose his temper.

And honestly you like him, too. Despite the indenture. Somehow.

One day by some miracle Hades is in such a good mood, he lets you and Meg go for the day. You can do whatever you like but be back by sunset or he'll be pissed.

So you take the opportunity to wear something prettier then usual! Why not??

... When Hades sees you both leaving, that's when the penny finally drops.

Clarissa’s DIY Wedding- Watched it premier yesterday but didn't write any commentary because i was busy laughing at it with my friends but now i get to watch it again and write commentary so here ya go!:

The way AJ immediately marches across stage to snatch Luke’s hand and Luke just gets up and is like ‘alright then- are you the girl or am i?’

“Theres the turnpike!” *laughs* “and I know what that is!” Guessing by AJ’s wide eyes, he does not, which is precisely why Luke said it XD

Luke: *giggles* AJ: *stops his entire speech just to stare judgmentally for a few seconds*

OH MY GOSH HES PROPOSING!!!!

“I wanted you to be my wife, Suzanne.” AJ!!!! FIRST MINUTE AND YOU REALLY MESSED UP ALREADY??????? Smh boi…

“Mark and… Suzanne.” Luke glaring at AJ. Turns to audience like- you guys seeing this shit?

Oh it took Sam a second to get the joke- perfect

V to UV Art by DonnyK9 Murder Drones AU Idea Rambling Alright this is a “Drezen Ramble” I watched Murder Drones as it was coming out and after the last episode had an idea for a AU that then spiraled out of control a bit. It took a long time to finally find someone to draw some stuff for it and hopefully I can find more people to comm stuff for this but here we go. Should probably note I copy pasted most of this from a conversation I had with a bud so sorry if it comes off as nonsense XD

Context: this idea was inspired by the last few episodes where we find out “Effective Drones were cloned more” and Cyn’s comment that N’s Team always surprised her along with the fact V was willing to make a deal with the solver and that V’s persona kind of a mask to deal with the horrors. 

Most of this little story would take place on a different world probably a few years before Copper 9 and the main plot. I mean the solver had to get through Copper's 1 to 8 after all plenty of space to fill so assume it takes place on one of those many outings. 

Basically this AU would center around a different V who went with a different persona to mask behind instead of canon V this AU V takes up the persona of a "Tomboy" (+ a little shonen protagism) this Persona of V basically sets out to try and make sure this Squad is a proper Team and not barely functional mess... Basically She and N use “Democracy” to vote out J as leader and put V in charge who then actually raises team efficiency (much to J's annoyance) by basically doing all she can to be N and J's friend attempting to give them both therapy while mediating their clash of Extrovert and Introvert. N she actually deals with the fact his brain is wiped although basically spoon feds him info (basically tells him the mansion stuff but not the Gala incident) and also kind of gently shuts down his crush on her because she can't really remember what it was like to be the Girl N fell for and she thinks he deserves someone who can take all the love he has in his big dumb heart (She does promise to wingman for him though if they ever find someone who meets his fancy). Becoming friends with J was a lot harder. The girl has so many walls up she basically lives in a mental fortress but together they actually get their job done much faster and making N less annoying for J to deal with they become actual friends.

The Team did so well they actually finished the job with a year to spare which they spent further bonding and talking about what they might do after..... then Cyn and the other J show up. The Team freaked out but they did their job and they did it well and V hopes that this means the deal she made of "Leave us in Peace" will be upheld which Cyn says it will... as she proceeds to rip one of V's arms off. This of course freaks them out and Cyn clarifies it is holding up its end of the deal to "Leave them in P-I-E-C-E giggle" in fact she is so happy with them she is extending the deal to "Pieces"  isn't she the best boss (Happy Sarcastic Tone) the Team panics and tries to fight back but doing so causes Cyn to kill N (guess he didn't want to be left in Pieces oh well hopefully the next back up is more of a team player) J (Team) fights J (Solver's Pet) kind of messes up the “Solver's Pet” to see herself fight back choosing her Team over Corporate... but she too goes down once Cyn gets bored with the resistance and uses Admin permissions to lock up the Team has her pet J finish off the other J and then Cyn takes time ripping V into pieces removing her arms, peg legs, smashing her visor face and shredding her voice box after V tries to curse her out/ scream to just annoy Cyn. In the end V is left just a torso with her upper leg stumps still attached, a smashed face and something that shouldn't be called a voice and due to Cyn being Admin she won't be regenerating. Cyn eats the planet but makes sure to leave the chunk with V and her team’s remains as untouched as she can after all would be rude to not let V keep her reward.

Cyn eventually leaves for the next planet and V is just kind of left she can't see or hear anything only feel the wind but even that eventually fads and she is left alone with her thoughts for a very long time.... until something finds her something finds a broken doll discarded by a cruel "god" V is not sure if she has gone mad but she tries to call out and whatever it is doesn't retreat from her distorted cries instead it seems to try and comfort her and she feels herself being gently picked up so long since she last felt kindness that she drifts off to sleep. When she wakes up she has been repaired.... mostly it seems whoever repaired her used the parts of her team leaving her with N's lower legs, J's voice box patching up her own (Basically she doesn’t sound like V or J her voice is either deeper or growly-raspy sounding), no idea whose arms she has since they all look so similar but her upper arms seem to be new parts, seemingly J’s unbound hair, no stinger tail and when she looks into a mirror she sees her eyes are now basically the color of UV lights and on closer inspection she swears she sees more eyes beneath her visor but before the panic of whatever that is about set in she notices another addition of…. Animal Ears in place of her Headband eyes with said ears expressing her current mood before twitching as she hears someone in the next room and with checking herself over done she leaves out the room to whatever awaits her next.

Notes:

She is nicknamed "UV" because of her eyes she never actually introduces herself to the person who put her back together so “UV” is just what they call her until she either introduces herself or picks out a name for herself.

Her lights were changed from yellow to purple by the person who put her back together both as a side effect of some of the alterations made when repairing her and also so that she hopefully wouldn’t freak out when seeing yellow drone eyes looking back at her when she looks in a mirror.

She is the admin of her own system Cyn’s Admin rights were replaced but despite that UV was unable to regenerate which is why she was repaired with available parts. The current status of her solver is UV has admin rights but the solver does not seem to work in any capacity. 

She can't use her arm weapons so has to carry actual weapons which after finding some Disassembly Drone arms with their Swords sticking out she takes the blades to make into actual swords she can wield. She also can’t use her wings anymore.

Her body has a few upgrades beyond the patch job repair due to the person who repaired her getting hit with inspiration while examining her but they stopped themselves from going overboard as they acknowledge UV is a person and any alterations should really be of her choice… granted this person also looked through her memories just to make sure they weren’t repairing a psycho.

Upgrades and modifications she now has are: Her new upper arm parts compensate for her lack of wings since they allow her arms to extend (Think Reg’s arms from Made in Abyss), her visor she can now customize things like the type or eye brows she has when she expresses along with a range of other options to help her be who she wants to be, She can eat human food being no longer reliant on oil but she can still eat it and other drone foods if she has to and probably a few other features relating to her new visor and ears that she didn’t bother to ask about once the shock of being rebuilt started to wear off.

Having her Teammates limbs attached to her has had a bit of an effect on her psyche causing her to take up some of their personality traits on top of her Tomboy Persona leading her to be more Chipper like N but also making her call the person who fixed her up "Boss" (thankfully she is spared using the mountain of corporate jargon that J does)

She has a lot of mental grief, having survivors guilt and refusing to get any further upgrades or better repairs to desperately hold onto what she has left of her friends which sometimes leads to her hallucinating them when alone or stressed out.

Character Inspirations: Murder Drones's V: Eldritch Robo, Fake it till you make it, Cloned Traumatized Killed Cloned again, Sacrifice her own happiness for her friends.

Fate's Mordred: Knight of Rebellion, Artificial Being Cloned from another, Tomboy, Traumatized but kind of dealing with it.

File 1133 Review

The resolution of this whole Osaka serial murder and Heiji confession case was all I could have wished for. It truly lived up to the build-up from this whole case and I thoroughly enjoyed and was surprised by all the twist and turns x)

The case resolution was a tad different from what I deduced, in that the serial killer of Kakiwaki and Nagakubo was rather Anzaka Tenma instead of Kuraichi.

I had once considered that Anzaka might have killed those two after Kuraichi's altercation with Narasawa, but I had eventually dismissed it because of how radical I thought it would be for Anzaka morally speaking. I clearly underestimated his corrupting desperation, as I didn't predict that his illness would be as severe as stomach cancer. I certainly also did not expect such a simple, yet elaborate tablet video trick to have taken place to fake his sleeping on the bed, and it does make me question how realistically it can fool anyone, especially if they happen to get too close. I guess it was a worthy risk so long as he could distract everyone instantly with the recording.

I did however deduce his marionette devil messages correctly, as well as the motive behind it, which was delivered well in the true picture of what happened.

The biggest highlight of this whole case however was Heiji's confession,... that his feelings finally reached Kazuha. It was such a beautiful page, where all of their iconic romantically-implied moments were displayed behind Heiji as he was blabbering outloud that he loves Kazuha.

All of it accumulated as build-up to the awaited twist that Kazuha overheard him, in a full-spread page (similar to Shinichi's confession in London), which was so beautifully depicted.

This was then followed up by Kazuha pushing Heiji to steel his resolve and not backtrack on his words and instead affirm them properly, which was another hit of delight to my fan heart ♡

After that, we get a small transition to a scene of Momiji, who we finally got to see after her very noticible absence through out this case. She has just won her Hyakkunin Ishuu tournament, and yet couldn't stop her tears from flowing, which also hit me hard and I could empathize with. This was a beautifully and respectfully handled way of showcasing Momiji's loss in her romantic endeavors, while still dignifying her characterization and the future growth that awaits her. Gosho could have easily made her butt in and follow the romantic rival trope, where she tries to mess things for the pair to the very end, but he never did, and when one retroactively looks at Momiji's overall influence against Heizuha since her intro, it was truly minimal. Again, Momiji and Muga remains as not only among the best Rum arc characters introduced, but also among the best duos in DC in general, and this case further respected that sentiment.

The twist of how Kazuha's mom, Toyama Sakura, swapped places with Kazuha in disguise through out this whole case was a very nice classic touch by Gosho that I extremely enjoyed. It's never a complete Gosho case without his perspective-changing twists, not to mention his disguise gimmicks xD

All in all, I'm completely content with this big confession case, and I can't wait to see Heiji and Kazuha finally date and have cute romantic moments and banter, as well as potentially flashback to how Kazuha's replied (although not necessary).

As for what we can expect next, I don't see us getting the Osaka cast in awhile, since this case pretty much resolved all the loose threads. I am of course expecting for us to be even closer to the Rum climax now after this Heizuha confession plot resolution (since I see Muga's role finally getting the room to potentially get revealed to have been connected to the Rum plot all along), but before that, I see us first getting the teased ShinRan childhood flashback that Gosho mentioned he was gonna tell a story about recently, connecting to their meeting with Hagiwara Kenji in M25 flashback scene (that is confirmed to be canon). This could happen within the very expected M28 promo case that should involve the next movies' cast, the Nagano trio: Kansuke, Yui & Koumei (who is Hagiwara Kenji's friend's brother).

I thought it would be kinda cool to try and make a tier list with my own drawings and, in hindsight, that was maybe too ambitious, given I had more manga titles this year and less free time for fanart, but regardless, here we are! Gonna hide additional thoughts on some of the books under a read-more for the terribly curious. XD

Going in order from top to bottom, left to right:

Snow White with the Red Hair: ...No. There is too much to say. I'll need to return to this some other time. XD (Actually I'm gonna skip the other 2023 titles on the tier list as well)

King in Limbo: LOVED this one. Possibly one of my favorite that I read this year. (Am I biased because it takes place in San Francisco? MAYBE SO.) Really great sci-fi series with a crime/murder mystery element, and Rune and Adam make for a great mismatched 'buddy comedy' duo. Also... *cough* Am I excited for the Your Forma anime? Yes. Do I think King in Limbo did the same plot but better and first? Also yes. *cough*

QQ Sweeper/ Queen's Quality: Look this title has everything, okay? Action, romance, comedy, horrifying nightmare monsters, tips on window cleaning, what more could you want, really?

Wolf's Daughter: A Werewolf's Tale: THANK YOU SEVEN SEAS FOR LICENSING THIS FOR PRINT THIS YEAR!

Library Wars: Admittedly I'd tried this one a handful of times before and struggled to get into it (also I don't care for the anime) BUT. I told myself to stick with it and lo and behold, loved it. Such a charming cast of characters.

Immortal Rain: I recall encountering this in either middle school or high school and loving the art, but I don't think I read past volume one. Really enjoyed reading the whole series through.

Wolf and Revolver: How can an unlicensed title rank this high, you ask??? V I B E S

Rose of Versailles: Listen I felt genuine anxiety over the fate of Marie Antoinette and if that isn't the mark of a skilled storyteller right there, I don't know what is.

Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom: IT'S SO CUTE AND CHARMING and way funnier than I thought it would be??? Also reminded me of The Thief and the Cobbler a fair bit, in terms of tone and art.

From Far Away: Feel like this had a bit of a slow start but the main draw, in my opinion, is Noriko. She’s such a sweet, determined heroine.

Children of the Whales: I actually have some nitpicks with this one, story-wise, BUT. It’s so impressive from an artistic standpoint and unique in its world building that I just gotta give it to ‘em, you know?

The Hachioji Specialty: Tengu’s Love: How can a manga with only two volumes out rank this high, you ask? IT'S ADORABLE. XD In all seriousness, I love that it’s a ‘fish out of water’ story that doesn’t infantilize the woman so that the guy can save her with his worldly ways. Refreshing! And I say again: so. Heckin’. CUTE.

The rest of the titles all tend to fall in the same sort of, ‘I liked this!’ area for me, except fooooor….

Fushigi Yuugi: Listen LISTEN, it ranks real low and I’ve got complaints about the plot and pacing BUT. I’m glad I read it and would like to someday dive into the sequels because it is clearly a genre-defining staple. Maybe I’d like the anime better?? (I liked the first volume of the latest spin-off! XD)

SECRET BONUS ROUND! Most of these had a physical edition of their first volume drop at the tail end of the year and as such, felt a bit too last minute to draw, but they generally all fall in the ‘solidly entertaining’ tier:
