As someone who's been there, the "identity stuff" is way more confusing than answering what do you want to do. I knew I wanted to get on feminizing HRT 10 years before I accepted I'm a trans woman.

In general I believe that both gender identity and gender expression belong to the "do what you want forever" category. Do you want to try out these specific clothes? Just do. Do you want to get on fem-HRT? Just do. Do you want to present yourself in a specific way on the net? Just do. Surgeries? Just do.

idk. just some Thoughts. not a defense of our current system and all the flaws it enables and enforces etc. his approach to medicine is really reminiscent to me of what I know of the Heroic Era Of Medicine which i dont...love? and hes framed on here as being an asshole but would kill for his patients to get them a diagnosis etc. but hes definitely extremely paternalistic to patients ? and despite some good clippable lines about ableism and being against eugenics, it honestly feels like his stance on that is kind of a toss up.

Narinder was imprisoned for 1000+ years, there is no way in hell that cat has proper social skills, and I want to make that known in my writing that he's horrific at communication and picking up cues as well as articulating and processing his needs and feelings, while also showing a slow development over time.

Narinder is Not Great at reassurance, he's not going to be perfectly 'dont worry, im here for you, everything is gonna be alright'

But he does try

Two examples only. So many times in Trod is Narinder in a position where as a friend he should have comforted and reassured the Lamb (and others), but the way he goes about it is less than ideal. He can be callus, an attempt is made but it's not perfect, and sometimes makes it worse.

Narinder struggles with this type of social interaction that it took the Lamb giving him a talisman and telling him to leave if he wasn't happy, to swallow his pride and look for help to learn how to communicate better

While Narinder does try to downplay the Lamb's importance to him during the conversation with Ratau, there is no denying that him of all people, asking for help...and to apologize of all things, is huge.

When he does apologize, it's still not perfect. It's a harvest ritual with a promise to lend his other half of the power to the Lamb. He doesn't acknowledge what he's done outside of that (we arent there in the development yet) but there is a persistant change from this point forwards.

Another example is the most recent chapter literally titled 'The Winds of Change'.

Narinder isolates himself after every conflict, either running away or pushing away the other.

See: After Leshy's and Heket's rival, Narinder disappears for days avoiding the Lamb, and after Heket's arrival, he starts an argument in the field that results in the Lamb avoiding him. No one wins in either of these.

In the most recent chapter 'Winds of Change', Narinder is learning that the feeling of isolation, and pushing the Lamb away, is not a good feeling.

He is, of course, a jerk about it, but at this point in the story Narinder has developed to the point where his mindset is 'i actually don't like it when we both walk away from the fight with the fear that we'll abandon each other and i would prefer having an uncomfortable conversation and keeping you in my life rather than repeat the same habits that almost kicked you out of it'

He's not going to verbalize that just yet, but we'll get there eventually.

There are several instances in Trod where Narinder does something and has an 'oh shit' moment but I'd be writing for hours if I made a list of them.

keep talking. humans are social animals and it's as simple as this: the ongoing genocide is dire, urgent and catastrophic - i dont think i need to tell you that. but when people, a lot of people, share posts with each other and reiterate this fact the urgency will be felt stronger by everyone, and reach people who would otherwise maybe not see the reports of the genocide on their screens. if people instead choose to stop sharing and stop talking because it's "been so long" or it's "too difficult", the suffering will become normalized and the only thing people will see on their feeds are mundane things - food, pets, fandoms, and it will send the message that oh, it's not that important after all.... sometimes, you SHOULD feel disturbed and uncomfortable. these feelings are not evil - they will be channelled into actions to better a situation and better the world. silence is violence.

search for protests near your town, sometimes they're hard to find but once you find your local organizations for the Palestinian movement, follow them and you will usually find them! this all depends on where you live of course - but most often there will be fundraisers and events and mailing campaigns etc, and the more people joining the better. and, most importantly i would say, share these events and pictures (no faces of strangers, ofc! from protests on your facebook, twitter etc - because that way people close to you will see them and that it's completely rational and normal to attend protests, and if they've been on the fence maybe they will reach out and join you.

This is a comment I just saw in the wild, and I need to know the real factualness/lack thereof of this from those who are more familiar with internet fandom history.

the evangelical prudishness of the early internet is completely separate from pro/anti ship dynamics. the idea of an anti was popularized in voltron fandom by teenagers who were uncomfortable being attacked by adults in "ship wars" for not liking a prominent ship between an adult and child. evangelicals are still being prudish and nasty online to this day and theyre not doing it with "anti, proshippers dni" in their bios

i would really say the #1 most important thing you can do is TELL THEM. tell them you're aromantic!! because there are two options here:

1. they get upset and break up with you. harder in the short term maybe but is both a good litmus test for whether this person is *actually* someone you want to date (ie not an asshole) and solves the issue of you being in a relationship you're uncomfortable with pretty effectively.

2. they're chill with it, and THEN you can have a conversation with them about how your aromanticism affects how you experience the relationship/what kinds of things you are or aren't comfortable doing wrt romance/how you can move forwards making sure you're both comfortable in that relationship/etc

i promise you it's going to feel SO much better to have them know about it, 'cause even if nothing much about your relationship changes it's so so important to be with someone who actually knows about your identity and what's going on in your head, and it can help them understand that if there things you don't want to do that it's not because you don't like them but rather it's just a part of who you are as a person - and if you don't feel comfortable telling them about it, then well i don't want to be that guy but maybe they're not the one.

cross and fresh (in my mind) are side characters outside of the “main” conflict that would be dream vs nightmare. of course they are main characters of their respective stories but focusing solely on this, they arent Necessary for those stories really. theyre both “add-ons” in that sense

cross himself, with xtale and underverse, really separates him from the multiversal conflict and fresh is also more of a fun cameo than he is as an active participant in the story.

when i first put cross and fresh together im going to be honest i forgot about their first interactions within underverse and just moved forward based on the assumption that cross would be uncomfortable by fresh (based on fresh info, where it’s stated that most people find it odd?) and that fresh’s curiosity and respect towards cross for doing what he did for the sake of “survival” is what drew them together.

cross found comfort later in interacting with someone that wasnt directly related to his internal conflict and was also made more comfortable by the fact that fresh didnt judge him for it. or at least not openly. fresh may have teased him for things in the past or annoyed cross to a point but it wasnt overwhelming or made him mad

fresh on his end would just? find cross fascinating. liked to tease him and see his reactions. found the way cross behaved fascinating too. just liked studying the guy

theyre are friends!!! to me!!! doesnt matter how they meet up but theyre FRIENDS!! BUDDIES!! and i love them a lot
