Tbh, I only watched one and a half seasons before stopping, but I'll always be thankful for the friends this emo wolf and his sparkly bard gave me!

2 – The Untamed

3 – Agatha Christie's Poirot

I absolutely love the "one case per episode" format that can be watched out of order! Especially helpful bc TV stations here seem to like throwing darts at a board to determine which episode to show. I also love David Suchet's portrayal of the little Belgian moustache man xD

4 – Our Flag Means Death

Okay, I could gush about a lot of things but the main thing that occupies my mind is: Jim fucking Jimenez. Such a fucking icon!

5 – Naruto

This is such a comfort anime for me, I always feel warm and cozy watching the first arcs up until Sasuke runs off. The bridge arc? The Chūnin Exams? Perfection! And so are Kakashi, Shikamaru and Gaara!

6 – Death Note

I've never finished this anime and I don't think I will, yet I still love it up until SOMEBODY gets killed. Ryuk regularly infects me with a hunger for apples when I watch it, L makes me sit weirdly, the soundtrack is divine. And idgaf how this sounds, but I like Light while hating Kira. No, I won't even fight anyone over it or defend it bc I simply don't give a fuck xD

7 – Pokémon

I by far didn't watch everything, I'd even say I watched astoundingly few episodes in the grand scheme of things, but eh. It's a mostly lighthearted show with some surprisingly hard hitters in between, some seasons are better than others, like with every show, but Team Rocket always stays strong. Also I'm so proud of Ash 🥹

8 – Merlin

How to not realize your queer awakenings, a tutorial by me. Also memories of Wednesday evenings of better times when I'd look forward to every new episode. Funny how now Wednesdays have become special to me through D&D, considering both are fantasy settings and some happenings in the show might as well be funky dice rolls 😂

Ah this is hard but I will try

1. Avatar the last Airbender.

I remember when nickelodeon would air the complete series on a weekend every now and again and that was how I originally watched it. Then it was on Netflix and I rewatched it again. And again and again. This is THE show to me.

2. Monk - in which a germophobe is a detective

This show aired the same year I was born so I'm kinda going to be biased. Rewatching some of the episodes in 2023 I didn't expect to find out that my brand of humor apparently originates from an early 2000s show but it certainly appears so!

3. Shadow Hunters

Did I drop this show after catching up with the books and being so frustrated at how they adapted things? Yes. Do I even care about the books anymore? Not really. BUT this show (or rather Malec) is what originally got me into shipping so I think I still need to mention it.

4. Stranger - A kdrama about a man without emotions suffering with chronic pain having to solve a murder and making friends along the way

Living my life I never saw a character that made me go "oh I feel represented by them! I can relate to them!" That was until the Male Lead of Stranger came along. Instead of the show being about his disability it's about a murder that needs to be solved. It's about him solving this murder and navigating through it with his disability. It's about friendship. This show probably has one of my favorite female leads. And even if I'm not much into crime dramas anymore this show is so so dear to me.

5. The disastrous life of Saiki K - in which the anime protagonist has all the powers in the world that he doesn't want. He just wants a peaceful afternoon is that so much to ask!

Not much to say about this show except this is also one that nailed my brand of humor.

6. Tom and Jerry

A special shout-out to it because as a child I was obsessed with it.

7. Mr. Queen - In which a womanizing star cook from modern times transmigrates and now he is the queen of joseon. Political court intrigue on the menu as well.

Everything about this show was almost tailer made for me. The humor that never fades even into the late episodes. The characters and their complexity. The romance between two people who started as enemies. The drama, the intrigue! Perfect! Amazing! Wonderf- WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS IS THE ENDING

Mr Queen managed to give me the worst ending I have possibly ever seen and still managed to become my favorite kdrama. Because even if the last episode is a crime everything before that really is just too well done.

8. Love between fairy and devil - in which the most powerful man is the universe is forced to take care of a plant

My feelings with this show and Mr queen are pretty similar except that with Lbfad while maybe not the best paced at the end the ending didn't suck. The couple just has so much love and respect for each other. And the emotions ahhh. So many emotional moments!

let's talk about stuff/Sarah Zedig

If you've seen Jesse Gender's videos on the Matrix movies you may already be familiar with Sarah. She does excellent film and culture analysis with a lot of great conversations on paratext and outside influence in engaging with text. Her video on Tunic is one of my favorites.

Pamphleteer

No one makes videos like hers, which has the side effect making them a bit hard to describe. I will link one of my favorites which describes the disconnected temporality of being older when you discover you're queer.

Turbo Queer

Really really under watched channel. Skylar covers a lot of topics from video games, to anarchist history and modern events, to autistic life, to current politics. For a fun one check out her video on the SpongeBob strike episode.

Kaz Rowe

Kaz does a fantastic job examining modern myths and manufactured history primarily pertaining to western Europe, Victorian & Edwardian England, and 1800-1900s US. And of course, talking about historical queerness in all its ambiguities and evolutions. I highly recommend their video on Weimar Germany.

drapetomania

drapetomania interrogates the politics of low class and high class art and entertainment from a queer and Black perspective. Their art history videos alone cover many angles of white supremacist history I haven't seen anyone else discuss and I'm very excited to see more from them. They are also a very under viewed channel that more people should see!

I am error

Evelynn's channel primarily discusses video games in a presentation style and voice most similar to Action Button reviews. There's something just a bit more personal here though. I hesitate to say cozy since that word has a bit of an infantilizing connotation, maybe comforting is closer. She puts an immense amount of thought and empathy into the experience of playing video games and the personal narratives we build with them.

Swolesome

For more transmasc perspectives there's Swolesome. He has a lot of interesting insights into the more traditionally masculine and "broish" communities like fitness as well as commentary on recent trans issues.

Shonalika

Music, disability, and aggressively non-binary. Their video on gender presentation in heavy metal was really insightful. I would also check out the video "Why I Wear Gloves" for more insight on invisible disabilities.

Vivian Strange

Vivian delights in being a bit of a contrarian- something I really appreciate. She's probably going to challenge you and you're probably going to disagree at times, which is what makes her channel so important. Her video on Marquis De Sade is powerful and a must watch (if you can stomach the subject material, although I would encourage you to try). I haven't seen her most recent video on Saw yet but I am extremely excited to.

SpongeBob is an Adult

I'm so sick and tired of people trying to say that SpongeBob is a child or that he was 13 when he was hired at the Krusty Krab. I swear does anyone actually watch the show? Look no further than Season 3, Episode 3: The Bully.

Mrs. Puff would NOT be his teacher if he was a child. He is a grown ass man who can't pass the driver's test. That's not THAT uncommon.

The argument I often see online is his (fictional) driver's license stating his date of birth as 7/14/1986. There are two problems with this. One: This is a dream sequence. (A rebuttal to this is that his license was shown again in season 2, but cartoons reuse assets all the time) Two: We don't know when the show actually takes place. Many shows don't take place in the same year as real life. Example: The Jetsons.

Season 1, episode 12: Employee of the Month. 43 months have passed, at least, with the 44th month being this episode. Three and a half years have passed AT MINIMUM since he was hired. This is still in season 1, mind you. March 8, 2000 was when the episode aired. 10 months, 1 week after the Episode 1 airdate of May 1, 1999. These episodes do not go along with real time.

When people say he's a kid, they are not being literal. Figurative language has been around forever. They mean he has the heart and energy of a child while living his adult life. When Mr. Krabs calls him a kid, he is being dismissive and derisive. Krabs is an old man, to him, SpongeBob IS a kid, because he's so much older than him.

Squidward calls him a kid because he's just an asshole sometimes. It's like when someone dismisses someone else along the lines of "Shut up, you're like 12" even if the person is in their 30s.

Another problem I have with people insisting SpongeBob is a child is that he's very autistic-coded if not flat out autistic. To say he is a child is infantilizing autistic people who act the same way. My partner is this way, she is nearing 50 but she acts like a 10 year old. To say she's not an adult would be insulting at best and ableism at worst.

Need more proof? Season 1, episode 12: The Chaperone. SpongeBob mentions that he couldn't find a date to his junior prom. That means he finished his junior year of high school. At the very minimum, SpongeBob could be 17, but Pearl is 16 in that episode so that is VERY unlikely.

If I need to add more to this post, I will, but chances are the ones who need to read it never will.

Bryke comparing Aang and Katara’s relationship to a younger brother/babysitter isn’t the “gotcha” ZKs think it is.

So Bryke the nickname of the A:TLA creators once talked about teen romance tropes, to paraphrase “younger boy likes older girl but said girl only sees boy as a younger brother or as themself as their babysitter”. This was coupled with an image of Aang and Katara. There was also an article saying that dynamic is Aang and Katara’s. ZKs seem to think this is a “gotcha”, that Katara canonically thinks of Aang as her younger brother whom she babysits.

HOWEVER!

This was specifically taken from A:TLA’s original pitch bible, which contains INTIAL ideas for a show, its characters and world. Many things in pitch bibles don’t make it into the final show, for example in the original pitch bible for SpongeBob SquarePants (originally SpongeBoy Ahoy!) Sandy Cheeks the squirrel was described as the apple of SpongeBoy’s eye and was suppose to be SpongeBoy’s love interest, but in the actual show the romance was dropped, there was some occasional ship-tease (especially in Sandy’s first two episodes), and tons of people ship the two, but SpongeBob and Sandy’s relationship is platonic.

With Aang and Katara, while Bryke may have originally intended for their relationship to be unrequited with Katara viewing Aang as a lil bro to babysit, this isn’t present at all in the show itself.

I’m gonna make a bold statement and say that Katara objectively DID have feelings for Aang. Even if they weren’t super obvious and spelled out like Aang’s feelings. The Cave of Two Lovers and The Headband are the most obvious examples but there are also other notable more subtler examples, for example, Katara is very physically affectionate towards Aang, something she doesn’t really display with anyone else. 

She has a lot of respect for Aang, she choses Aang over her tribe despite knowing him for one day, she defends him from that old fisherman, suggest he be the leader of the group, asks for his opinion on how she looks, she dismisses Sokka’s idea with finding the Earth King but quickly changes her tune when Aang suggests the same thing, she gets all embarrassed and flustered when Aang comments about her hair. Point being she clearly views Aang as an equal and her peer, not someone she begrudgingly has to babysit.

She herself even straight up says she loves Aang “for the people who love you, watching you be in that much rage and pain is really scary”. And she dismisses the notion that she views Aang as a brother in The Ember Island Players. If anything, actress Katara saying Aang is like a little brother was probably just a mythology gag based on the original pitch like Toph being a dude.

So, all-in-all, the babysitter Kataang comments really don’t mean anything, because they’re about an initial idea that was clearly scrapped in the show itself. Even if it is what inspired Kataang, who cares Aaron Ehasz agreed with a comment comparing Zuko and Katara to siblings and that she was foil to Azula (something I agree with). Bryke even made a joke saying “people who ship Zutara will have doomed relationships”. Given some of the weird takes from these people, I almost feel inclined to agree.

I got an ask from someone saying they are interested in watching adventure time but I accidentally deleted it :( anon if you are reading this here are some great reasons to watch it!

the later seasons are really awesome bc they start going really heavy on the lore and start to develop more of an overall plot. it's like watching the climax building in a movie but spread out over multiple seasons. it is 100% the best lore ive seen in a cartoon.

the show is really convenient to watch bc each episode is only 11 minutes but there are so many of them you dont get sad about finishing it too soon. this was back in the days of cable so theres anywhere from 20-50 episodes per season (yes, 50).

it's one of the only shows ive known that keeps the same voice actor for the entire series. the actor started around the age of 12 so you can literally hear him getting older throughout the show and the character gets older with him, voice cracking a lot and slowly deepening. i find it cool that they chose to do that instead of keeping the character eternally young.

you get attached to characters in ways you dont expect. as more things are revealed about them you begin to feel their loneliness, their insecurities, their desires. since the show lasted so long they had really amazing opportunities to develop the characters over a prolonged period and didnt need to rush it.

easter eggs! concept art! backgrounds! if you are an artist it's hard not to become obsessed with this show. and all these things are very well recorded online. even at the age of 26 i can think of ways that adventure time has influenced my art.

the idea of a post-apocalyptic setting being fantasy instead of sci-fi is so creative and unique. im personally not a fan of sci-fi but love fantasy and they did so many amazing things with this universe and it worked so well.

it is genuinely so funny. I think i actually laughed more rewatching it as an adult than i did as a kid.

you will gain a new appreciation for tom kenny if you've only ever heard him in spongebob. (also the VA who plays princess bubblegum played starfire, and jake's VA played bender)

if you do end up finishing the show (that will take a while) you have even more to look forward to! Distant Lands and then Fionna and Cake! the wiki also reveals some amazing stuff about each episode and you learn a lot of things you didn't know before (i dont recommend reading it while watching the main series bc it wont hide spoilers)

So today's my birthday and I'm turning 24. I am feeling the dread of realizing I was 14 years old a decade ago. I'm not one of those people who fears turning older but I am shocked at how far ago it is because it feels more fresh in my memory. I remember everything I did on my 14th birthday in detail😭😭😭 where did the time go??

Anyways my Spongebob fixation kicked off around that time which means I've been obsessing over Spongeboy me bob the television show for a decade now. Yeah I have other fixations on the side, little breaks here and there, but it's been fairly consistent. Here's to another 10 years of spongebobbert my Robert my son! <3

Also here are the things I got for my 14th birthday

This is my prize, my baby. My precious beloved I have cherished this for years and years and rewatched it a million times and is what cemented the first season as being my favorite in the show. It is still my FAVORITE present ever and it means the world to me. At the time I actually wanted the first 100 episodes dvd boxset but it was sold out then. Tbh I think this is better. This also kicked off my interest in collecting SB merch.

The day I got this, the first episode I watched was Scaredy Pants.

This card! The novelty of a singing Spongebob card blew me away at the time! I have kept all of my birthday cards spongebob or not but this is the best. The battery has died so it no longer sings but here is the song it used to play

I also got this t-shirt which is currently on life support. You can tell it's a very much loved shirt. It has holes now so I don't wear it anymore but I'll never ever get rid of it! I used to wear it under my school uniform at the time (mostly to keep warm) so I can always keep Spongerobert close to my heart <3

#drawing #sketches attempts at ideas on what older #fairlyoddparents #timmyturner #dannyphantom #dannyfenton we got off of butch with maybe my own ideas mix in; with Timmy there are still quite a few options that are up in the air with him; but with Danny butch made a few drawing videos on what’s happening with Danny Sam and Tucker in their futures (( apparently Danny and Sam get married and have 2 kids who inherited Danny’s ghost powers but one can teleport and the other can open portals and go wherever she pleases with these ghost portals of hers)) and Danny Phantom along with Sam and Tucker run a very good ghost hunting business and Tucker becomes Mayor of the tow/city they live in );; funnily Butch seems to like turning his protagonist’s into beef cakes and I normally don’t draw beef cakes kinda characters so this was a challenge to try to draw them

Fairly odd parents - Timmy has a few older versions of him where he gets tall and beefy (heck there was a teenager version of him that got mistaken for a teenage super model in one episode)

Danny Phantom- episode he had a beefy muscle evil version of himself show up and there is two YouTube videos by Butch himself has said being as Danny is fighting with ghosts so much he becomes super fit by age of 25 and right into his adult years so kinda makes cents Danny have alot of muscles

And then Tuff puppy the dog was draw super beefy as well

So in conclusion even though Butch isn’t running the show fairly odd parents a new wish anymore the people will have to take in SOME advice from Butch on how adult Timmy gonna be

And if they choose to do more with Danny Phantom they’ll have to get Butch’s input on where that show will go being as Danny phantom & fairly odd parents were his ideas

So where does this leave Timmy Turner? Well we have a couple of choices to go with him we can

We can have him getting adopted by Wanda Cosmo so become a fairy and grow up with peri poof

Of he grows up becoming a lawyer/ someone who works in child services so whatever happens to him as a kid doesn’t get as bad as it did for him / maybe writes books/comics being as he was quite the creative imagination and gets to keep his memory and helps fairyworld on the side while being married to toothie being as Unless Trixie learns to stop worrying about how others see her and just be herself I don’t really see a romantic relationship working out with her and Timmy; best they might become friends as teenagers being as they share interests in manga / comics and toothie will probably calm down with her affections towards Timmy but being as she’s only one who’s liked him even when he was ignored neglected abuse kid I see Timmy learning to appreciate that as he has the chance to grow; I’d see Timmy getting away from his parents as he gets older being as they’re kinda crazy dumb and a little totic ALSO helping Toothie get away from her sister Vicky being as they were both abused by Vicky as kids (and the adults in their lives did nothing to stop it; I mean I get Toothie’s parents were scared of Vicky but they couldn’t even protect their other child from her?)

Maybe Jimmy Timmy could still be friends and Jimmy and Cindy end up an item not sure

In my au I went with Timmy becoming a fairy and gets to hang out with nicktoons unite gang as a fairy and Danny and Jimmy do well for themselves in their own universes

Now with nicktoons

Danny met Jimmy and Tommy with they were both 10 years old and he was 14; and with SpongeBob he’s already a adult (although SpongeBob is a weird sea creature so not sure how sea sponges age at all not don’t think he changes as much as Jimmy Timmy and Danny do as they get older)

So trying to work with their ages is also something ones gotta work with as well as where the creators of their shows wanted to take their shows

Also in the nicktoons unite games they started adding in Danny’s friends Sam and Tucker as well as a few of SpongeBob’s friends; with Timmy though they only ever had was Wanda & Cosmo

If they were gonna make more games they’d have added poof/peri but don’t think they’d add more being as not many liked that dog and Cole

But far be it from me to stop anyone from shipping who they like but not comfortable with Danny being shipped with a sponge and then a super hero character who’s supposedly the same ages as Timmy and Jimmy were in their shows OR I could be wrong about El Tgrey show it’s been awhile from few episodes I got to see of that show (( not sure even how the sponge got shipped with Danny in the first place the age gap with those two is pretty big but then people use to ship bald with Danny so I guess people will ship anything;;; I’m just not comfortable with enther ship honestly more so being as Danny kinda ends with with Sam at the end of the original Danny phantom series so can’t see Danny with anyone else after that) )

Also with the nicktoons unite game el Tgrey never made it as a playable character in those games being as the show didn’t get to be as popular as Danny phantom Jimmy neutron Fairly odd parents and SpongeBob did but funnily enough Invader Zim did so Zim and Dib ended up joining the nicktoons unite games grated only in one game then they switch anther series main character to join the gang if the nicktoons unite games were to do anther huge crossover game I believe they’d add my teenage robot life kj9 Jenny as the next playable character being as like in today’s world people are complaining there isn’t enough female characters to play in games and being as the fandom for my teenage robot life is still going strong it feels more likely they’d add her; they’d most likely add in Sam tucker and that squirrel that SpongeBob likes into games again as well being as they did add them before

So will most likely have them in my au for Fairy Timmy and the nicktoons unite gang (also Jimmy Timmy becoming a thing in my au being a Cindy will mostly become good friends with Timmy and a reluctant friend of Jimmy)

but unfortunately he is, and that also means hearing curly rant about it, hopefully while getting high bc then tim can just zone out while curly goes on and on and on

there was a few times pony saw tim and curly talking and they were staring dead at him and pony has never felt so scared in his life????? fully thought he was done for, even know he sees it happen and he's like "what the fuck did i do"

at the end of the day, tims still an older brother, he would peek into the room to tease curly, asking if theyre making out in the room and curly would kick him out, out of embarrassment

tim can see it in curly and ponys eyes that they wanna kiss so badly and he doesnt CARREEEEE if they wouldn't rlly do it, he refuses to be left in a room alone w those two without angela there or something, half bc that sets in stone that they RLLY wouldn't kiss right then and there half bc tims taking someone down w him if he does see it, but usually tim just straight up leaves, he doesnt wanna lose any brain cells hearing them talk

pleaasseeeee hear me out with protective tim w curly, he notices that curlys never felt this way before and he's both interested in it but scared that he's gonna get himself hurt, while being a wingman for curly, he's also like a bodyguard, making sure that ponys the right guy for curly in the way that it counts

curly loves calling this guy cupid and AS A JOKKEEEEE pony drew tim as cupid in class and showed it to curly and curly took it, SWEARRRINNGGGG he wouldn't show tim, but can u guess what this nigga did??? show it to tim, what a liar
