the party lowkey sucks because it's all old rich people so you sneak out to a balcony where you find a young man drinking whiskey and texting on his phone.

he introduces himself as jason, and his hand is rough and calloused when you shake it, but it's warm and sends a tingle up your arm. (😏)

You chat about your work, he complains about the stuffiness of a life at Wayne Enterprises and you laugh when he warns you to get out while you can (he's joking, of course. not because he thinks it's worth staying but because if you leave he'd never be able to hear that adorable laugh again)

when you go off on a tangent about how excited you are for your project, he's not even listening anymore. the sheer passion that lights up your face has his mind going fuzzy and a full orchestra playing in the background

you're pulled back in before he can get your number :( he's so mopey all weekend he doesn't even have it in him to retaliate when damian makes fun of him for having pink pony club as his top song for this month :(

when you get home your email is flooded with warnings from other parents at your daughter's daycare about a lice scare?? okay, you think, she's definitely not going on monday, you can just bring her to work with you, right? what's the worst that could happen?

the following monday he just happens to show up at the office (He can't just stop by to say hi to his brother who he loves?) (tim calls security almost immediately)

you're not at your cubicle (in a meeting, your desk neighbor informs him) so he mills about the floor like a lost puppy just waiting for you to show up so he can "accidentally" run into you

the woman at the front desk has a chair pulled up next to hers where this little girl with pigtails is sitting, trying to console her as tears stream down her face

jason springs into action, kneeling in front of her chair to ask what's wrong

she just sniffles and holds up her stuffed animal, an elephant whose button eye has popped out, the woman watching her trying to get her to hand it over so she can sew it back on but she wont let go

he goes full grey's anatomy, fussing over the toy like it's in mortal peril and complimenting her for being so brave before gently asking if he can try to fix it

she lets him take it and he uses the woman's travel sewing kit to stitch it back on

she's ecstatic, leaping forward into his arms to give him a big hug

but now she won't let him leave because no he has to have a conversation with the elephant first and introduce himself and give it post-surgery care instructions and listen to it talk about how much she it wants a puppy and he feels like such an idiot talking to that thing but anything to make this little girl smile

she pulls a little picture book from the backpack hung on the back of her chair and asks him to read with her and he can't just say no!

so he plops down on the tile floor and starts reading out loud and even though she's standing next to him craning her neck to see the pictures he's a head taller than her

when you finish your meeting and head back to the front desk to thank gretchen for watching your kid the sight you see makes your heart absolutely melt

jason and your daughter are sitting criss-cross applesauce on the floor of Wayne Enterprises as he reads to her, and he's pulling out all the stops, he's doing voices, sound effects, and she's giggling so hard she can't sit up straight

but then they both finally notice you

"mommy!" she yells, running to you and wrapping herself around your leg

you're surprised to see him, but definitely not disappointed, and if what you just walked in on indicated anything, it was that you wanted, nay, needed this man

so now you're flushed and hopeful, mind running with possibilities of why he's here; could it be? he couldn't stop thinking about you either? he came all the way to ask you out?

but jason is also surprised, astounded even, by the miniature carbon copy clinging to your leg saying something about scooby snacks

he's freaking out on the inside

through a tight-lipped greeting he excuses himself with what he hopes is a neutral demeanor (spoiler alert: it's not) and goes home to think

and you obviously know exactly what that was about, one doesn't go through pregnancy at 19 without becoming well-acquainted with the whole catalogue of surprised/judgy reactions

of course you're a mess because the early/mid 20s dating scene is hard enough as it is but with a toddler? forget it, might as well just give up now

you go home to call your best friend and get drunk over face time while she assures you that men aint shit and offers to put a curse on him (you consider it, but how are you supposed to get a lock of his hair?)

he's up all night hating himself for being such an asshole and trying to come up with a scenario in which this works, in which he can have you in his life and also a child and be the red hood because he can't stop thinking about you

so then he just says fuck it and the next morning he shows up at your office with flowers and a puppy stuffed animal and finally asks you out

OH one book I read over and over in middle school was The Long Night by Diane Hoh, a novel set on the Titanic. I did an English project on it in 7th grade when we could pick literally any chapter book, I was mildly obsessed. Ooh I also read Dreadful Sorry and Time Windows (both by Kathryn Reiss) over and over. I still recommend all of them!

I feel a bit burnt out on big pop songs nowadays to the extent I can't even tell if a song is good anymore or not. I listened to Jins song today. It's fine but nothing about it excited me. Same with apt. I kinda liked it but it felt like cotton candy. Nice but sort of artificial and not something that provides sustenance (as in it wouldn't last on my playlist for very long). And whenever I do really really like a song, it gets so so so overplayed by Tiktok and radio that I eventually feel oversaturated with it. Can't stand to listen to anymore good luck babe or pink pony club or die with a smile or birds of a feather anymore even though I adored those songs when they first came out. Had to take a break streaming Jimin as well because streaming him all the time was giving me the same fatigue. I wonder if Spotifys new algorithm is a part of the problem. Nowadays you turn on shuffle or try some of their "for you" playlists and I swear it's the same 70 songs played over and over again.

And it really just goes back to the overbearing push that labels have been given all the “hits” this year has produced. A decent amount of them are still genuinely very good to me. (Good luck Babe and BoaF included) But this is the main issue with the label payola model cause everybody is exposed to the same rotation of like 5 songs and I’m certain everybody can round them off all by name. This year has been packed to the brim with releases. The most busy the music industry has been in years, yet it’s only that same rotation that has consistently been in public consciousness for the entire year.

That’s why it’s funny why I see kpop stans try to discount WHO’s popularity just because they “haven’t seen it anywhere” like on tiktok in contrast to other songs and it’s just like, well yes.

Cause that’s exactly what the labels are literally counting on imperceptive/ blindsided people like them to conflate visibility to actual popularity and that being “organic” equates to zero fan intervention and instead pure label push.

Fave performance: obviously the show i went to!! lollapalooza after party at the Vic Theater in Chicago you will always be famous to me and the other 1200 people whomst attended. she was amazing, i've never seen such energy on stage and in the crowd. it felt almost spiritual, i'm not exaggerating. her live singing is fantastic, and she has both incredible command of the crowd and endearingly self-conscious stage banter. Also the marie antoinette costume was beautiful and she looked great, and the wig drop was hilarious and perfect to set the tone. she's so extra in the absolute best way <3 10000/10. Other performances i think about a lot: her actual lollapalooza show (she really gave her best to both Chicago shows! and the Chicago crowds gave it right back! we love our Midwest princess!) and her performance of good luck babe on Jimmy Fallon, which was stunning visually and musically.

Fave interview: i love when she gets to chat with other queer people, so i have to go with the time she got interviewed by Trixie Mattel, the most recent one with Bowen Yang, and this Triple J interview.

I wanted to share some artists that I think really match up to my favorite Stranger Things ships

I did this a while ago, but looking back I definitely don't agree with a lot of the artists I chose, so I wanted to share my new pairings.

Byler- I think Conan Gray really encompasses the struggles of loving from afar and the pain that comes with queer, "unrequited" love. The entirety of his album, Found Heaven (which literally has an 80s synth pop vibe) screams byler, as well as other songs like Heather, Family Line, Summer Child, The Exit, The Cut That Always Bleeds, Fight Or Flight, Can We Be Friends?, Little League, Idle Town, and Crush Culture. I just think his music really represents Mike and Will's story-both the good and the bad.

Steddie- For them I have to say the Arctic Monkeys. I think they're music genre is a good mash up between Eddie's death metal and Steve's overall style (we're never really told what kind of music he likes, but I like to assume some sort of pop). I Wanna Be Yours, You Get Me So High, Do I Wanna Know, R U Mine, 505, and No. 1 Party Anthem all give me steddie vibes.

Ronance- girl in red is definitely so ronance. I wanna be your girlfriend, girls, You Stupid Bitch, hornylovesickmess, we fell in love in october, i'll die anyway., Too Much, and bad idea are great examples of songs that fit Nancy and Robin.

Lumax- I was having a hard time thinking of one for lumax, but Benson Boone honestly really fits them. He sings really passionate music, and I think one of the key parts of their dynamic is the fact that they'reboth very passionate, just in different ways. Max is fierce and fiery and Lucas is drawn to that flame, while also kindling it with his own loving personality and encouraging her, no matter what. I think Beautiful Things, Work Of Art, In the Stars, Cry, Ghost Town, and Slow it Down represent them well.

Elmax- Katy Perry gives me major elmax vibes, specifically One Of The Boys and Teenage Dream. They're both really fun, feminine, pop teen romance albums that feel like embodiments of El and Max during season 3. I Kissed A Girl, Teenage Dream, Part Of Me, Dark Horse, E.T, Firework, and The One That Got Away are the songs the remind me of them the most.

Rovickie- Chappell Roan is the first artist to come to mind when I think of Robin and Vickie. Good Luck, Babe! Literally feels like it was written from Robin POV, plus Casual, Picture You, Kaleidoscope, Red Wine Supernova, and Pink Pony Club are some other songs that I think fit the ship.

((TORTOISE LORE on the days i have to work onsite at my job i almost exclusively set up shop at the coffee place across from the office & listen to my little music & drink my little beverages all day so this particular set of questions resonates with me so bad))

for consistency's sake coffee-wise let's say we're talking starbucks. i think most days sirius would go for something high in caffeine but with a little sweetness to it. a venti iced shaken espresso with oat milk and three pumps of classic sweetener, perhaps. maybe switch that classic out for chestnut praline at the holidays bc he's feeling festive. other days i think he'd want an absolute sugar bomb as a reward for getting through a rough week or bc he was really mature today and refrained from screeching at people in the street when they didn't walk fast enough & blocked the sidewalk when he was in a hurry. on those days he requires a big ole mocha cookie crumble frap or an iced cinnamon dolce latte with an extra shot for fun.

on his walk home he's listening to one of three playlists depending on the day. the first one is a fourteen hour pop girlie playlist that starts with style by taylor swift and ends with kiss me more by doja cat, with some ariana, gaga, spice girls, charli, no doubt, & even some abba thrown in the middle for spice. the second playlist is for mocha cookie crumble days and starts with your best american girl by mitski and features lots of phoebe, lots of taylor, lots of lana, some ethel cain for sure, some select fleetwood mac, maybe some stuff from the 1975's a brief inquiry album. it's all stuff he can dig into & be angsty with & have strong feelings to.

the third is a more generic thought-dump kind of playlist where he just throws in songs he likes. buttercup by hippo campus. the view from the afternoon by arctic monkeys. concussion by girlhouse. ilysb by lany. like....,.,moonage daydream. 6 inch. pink pony club. bring it on home. just a mix of vibes and genres & things he gets stuck in his head.

contrary to popular belief i do think remus is a coffee girlie and would pick a mug of good dark roast drip over tea any day. i think he's simple for the most part & would go after a good tall americano on days he needs the kickstart but a grande drip with light cream would be his everyday go-to. during the summers he switches to a cold brew or plain iced coffee with cold foam if he's feeling fancy. he likes to pretend he doesn't like the frilly expensive drinks but every time he & sirius get coffee together, sirius orders him a grande mocha with two extra pumps of mocha and whipped cream on top & he downs it in about eight seconds.

remus is a hozier stan confirmed. remus is a boygenius stan confirmed. he likes poetic lyrics more than anything so sirius puts him on mitski and taylor. i like the idea that his music taste was a little outdated most of his life bc his parents had a huge record collection that they inherited from his grandparents so he just....played music all the time as a lonely little kid looking for things to do. when he was nine the only album he listened to all christmas break was otis redding's the dock of the bay & that made him gravitate toward stuff like leon bridges & amy winehouse as he got older. he learned about spotify four years after everyone else did & still only has two playlists. his parents loved the 90s rock girlies and they listened to a lot of the cranberries and fiona apple CDs around the house, so all those albums are really nostalgic for him now. he puts sirius on jeff buckley & regrets it instantly bc literally all he does now is play remus' grace vinyl full-volume and remus is afraid they're going to get a noise complaint. you can hear it in the stairwell sirius the neighbors are going to get mad please

Hello! I’ve been discussing a uni au on twitter and, because I cannot be chill about ANYTHING, here is a little something for that:

Tomorrow, when Nancy asks him what his night was like, Eddie will show her the several thousand selfies that Steve took when he was supposed to be using Find my Phone (spoiler: it was in his pocket) and the uniconfession that is bound to go up about that sexy guy in Waterworks and the many children he has fathered tonight on the dance floor. He’s not judging. If this was literally any other club, Eddie would be doing something similar. More subtle, mind you, but the intention would be the same. But he’s not in any other club. He’s in Waterworks and they’re playing Pony by Ginuwine. 

Eddie does not dance to Pony by Ginuwine.

Not in public anyway. 

He watches as yet another girl grabs at Steve’s ass while they’re dancing. And he’s not judging. Definitely not judging. He wishes he was. Wishes the feelings swirling in his chest were down to disgust or judgement. But no, he’s just bitter because that girl is living his dreams and tomorrow she won’t even give a shit about the fact she was touching Steve Harrington.

And, shit, now they’re making out.

Eddie finishes what is in his cup and crunches the flimsy plastic under his foot. It’s nearly two AM. Half an hour and he’ll be free to guide Steve into a taxi and go to fucking bed. He knows that it’s his own fault. He could be having a good time if he just tried. He has had a good time in here in the past. But this? Tonight? He’s starting to regret laying eyes on Steve in the first place.

Because it’s not fair. Really. For a person to be this attractive while acting like an idiot.

Next time, Eddie is picking the club. Somewhere decent. Somewhere where he knows more than 25% of the songs. Somewhere like The Bulldog. But, hey, the drinks are cheap here. Something he’s grateful for as he buys another two vodka sodas. Both for himself. It’s good economics. He tells himself. Better for his wallet. That twenty-five pence saving is definitely the only reason.

He downs one and glances back at where Steve had been dancing only to find him marching over to the bar. Eddie considers downing the other cup but then decides to go with bribery instead.

“Got you a drink,” he says, buying Steve’s love with vodka soda. “You look like you need it.”

Steve is drenched in sweat, it glistens on his arms - fucking hell, that shirt does not fit him at all does it - and up his neck and across his forehead. It’s gross for Eddie to want to lick it off, but he does. He wants to follow it exactly as he’d followed the salt off of that guys throat earlier. He wants to feel Steve’s pulse under his tongue and to leave blossoming purpling bruises across that soft freckled skin.

“Where’s your friend?” Eddie asks.

Steve shrugs. “Dunno.”

He’s got bright red lipstick smeared around his mouth. How he’s managed to get that much on his face, Eddie doesn’t know, but it keeps dragging his eyes down to Steve’s kiss swollen lips. Raw and pink even without the red lipstick that’s pulling Eddie in like he’s the bull and Steve’s lips are the matador’s flag.

“You haven’t danced with me yet,” Steve pouts. Literally pouts. As if Eddie needed more of a reason to look at his lips. “It’s unacceptable.” He says very earnestly, his voice wobbly with drunkness. 

“Are you asking me to dance with you, Stevie?”

Steve nods. “Duh.”

“Well,” Eddie says, trying to salvage what is left of his sanity. “You might want to sort your face out first.” He swallows. “People might get the wrong idea.”

Steve narrows his eyes as if Eddie is trying to trick him - fair, Eddie has tricked him quite more than a few times so far - and then lifts two fingers to his lips. “Ha,” he laughs as if it’s the funniest thing in the world. “Do I look good?“ He waggles his eyebrows.

“Very sexy,” Eddie says, rolling his eyes. 

Then, without any thought behind his eyes, Steve leans in and kisses Eddie on the lips. It’s forceful, enough that Eddie almost mistakes it as an attempt to headbutt him, and messier than any kiss he’s ever had. Steve’s tongue swipes across Eddie’s lips and then forces its way into his mouth. He tastes of cheeky vimto and raspberry ice vape juice.

It takes a moment for Eddie to react because suddenly he’s so much drunker than he has all night. The kiss is happening in slow motion until it isn’t. His body jumps to attention, blood rushing down to his dick as he rushes to catch up with Steve. His brain is fighting between the urge to overthink and the need to live in the moment. This is happening? It asks. This is happening! It screams in response. 

Steve puts his knee between Eddie’s thighs and, alright, Eddie’s not proud of the noise he makes but he’s also been dreaming about this moment for at least a month. Let a guy live. Steve doesn’t seem to mind. He smirks against Eddie’s mouth and tugs lightly at the bunch of hair he’s got wrapped around his hand. 

And that it’s. 

Eddie pulls back.

He refuses to have this happen in Waterworks.

Steve blinks at him lazily, drunk and happy, and then raises his lipstick stained fingers to Eddie’s lips. “Now we match.” He grins and then lols his head towards the dance floor. “And we can dance.”

Eddie blinks. 

Right now he’d invade France if Steve asked him to.

Robin gets drunk during a camping trip and can’t stop herself from talking Nancy’s ear off (something that Nancy finds completely endearing) which leads to this exchange:

Robin: How’d you know?

My #1 post of 2022

i have such medieval Steddie brainrot atm thanks to @zigster-ao3 and their amazing art so like:

They meet as kids. Steve is a prince and Eddie is the nephew of one of the men who works at the castle. They meet by chance - gods knows that Eddie never thought he’d actually meet the prince- and get on really well because after the first little bow, Eddie flat out refuses to treat Steve any differently than anyone else and Steve needs that. Needs someone who sees him as a person.

They stay friends throughout their childhoods, meeting in secret because it’s not proper for a prince to be friends with a commoner. (And sure, there’s a little bit of puppy love there but neither of them stop for long enough to work it out for themselves.)

Then, while on his way to meet Eddie, Steve is attacked by a enemy of the crown. He almost dies in the struggle but is ultimately saved by Eddie, who kills the attacker. As a reward for saving the prince, Eddie is invited to become a knight (or at least train to be one) which he accepts.

Through a mix of overprotection (Steve’s parents refuse to let him out of their sight after the assassination attempt) and Eddie’s intensive training, the two drift apart becoming near strangers again.

That is until Eddie finishes his training and becomes one of Steve’s personal knights. Their relationship starts off rocky (they’re both older now and more than capable of working out that they’re attracted to each other) because Steve tries to keep Eddie at an arms length and Eddie hates how Steve is acting like they were never friends.

So they’ve got this bickering dynamic going on where they both like each other but won’t admit it for different reasons. (Only made worse when Steve’s parents start trying to find him a future queen because Eddie is not built for jealously.)

That is until another assassination attempt (they’re trouble in the kingdom it’s really unimportant) where Eddie gets really hurt and Steve just kind of crumbles at the thought of losing him.

When Eddie wakes up Steve is acting very strange. He keeps holding Eddie back from expeditions and giving him boring jobs around the castle. Eddie thinks it’s punishment but in reality Steve is just trying to keep him safe. It all ends in a big argument where Eddie demands to know why Steve hates him so much. Turns out he doesn’t… which is made very clear when Steve kisses him.

After that it snowballs until they’re together on the regular around the castle. (Good for them, it’s been over a decade of build they deserve it.)

There’s something there about Steve eventually marrying Nancy and it being a marriage of convenience that she negotiates the terms of after finding Steve and Eddie together. Basically, give me two kids to secure my legacy and a sick room and you can do what you want. She’s got her Amy March head on and she is securing that bag.)

(Also because the dynamic of Steddie/Nancy is fun to imagine. Like Nancy gives birth to her first kid in the middle of a storm while Steve is away and fuck if she’s doing it alone so Eddie I guess you’re holding her hand. (Sometimes a family is a king, his lover, his queen, and the kids)

Basically it ends with Steve as king and Eddie as his closest “friend”/most trusted knight (who knows the secret passageways in the castle and definitely sleeps in his chambers with him every night) growing old and happy together.

9. Scene that first made me love (or hate) the character

for sephi it's 100% the reactor scene. i dont even rly remember where but i saw gifs of her poor sad face and thought. oh no. my blorbo.

for ang+gen its a bit harder to say. probably the training room scene?? just the casual easy energy that had with seph was so good.

genseph is like. the entirety of So Much for Stardust by fall out boy for me lol. other than that, my brain has permanently associated genesis with pink pony club by chappel roan lol. angeal i dont have anything specific but i think he'd like classic rock.

19. vices/bad habits

besides their terrible lack of emotional intelligence/conflict resolution skills??

seph - isolating herself, forgetting to eat, terrible sleep schedule. probably the most physically detrimental of all the firsts.

gen - i could see him biting his nails... why he wears his gloves all the time. also a drama whore oh my god the gossip he partakes in

angeal - i know this man has snuck a cigarette or two. also will refuse to replace things until theyre literally falling apart

30. sleeping habits

seph - BAD. works for five days straight before collapsing on angeal's couch and sleeping for 24 hours. if they all have some time off it's a bit better cause they make sure she gets her rest. unironically having sex with ang/gen helps because then she's 1. in a bed, 2. relaxed and 3. feeling loved and safe

gen - room 68 degrees or less, silk sheets and pillowcases, matching pajamas, lavender scent, sleep mask, the works. always jerks off before going to sleep. never in bed before midnight.

ang - old man, in bed by 9. disconnects from screens and likes to read a book or his cooking/gardening magazines for a while in bed. sleeps in his boxers.

42. 3 comfort items

seph - she's the hardest to answer this for lol. i def subscribe to the hc that she doesnt have a lot of personal belongings. they were probably all gifts. a nice pen gen got him. some comfortable lounge clothes angeal got him. a clipping of an internal memo feat. a photograph of a certain blonde anti-shinra agent.

gen - his oldest copy of loveless, some nice noise cancelling headphones,and an old blanket he's had since he was a kid. the blanket stays in his closet most of the time [it doesnt fit his modern, stylish decor At All] but when he's had a rougher day than usual he pulls it out. he swears it still smells like home.

ang - does the buster sword count?? other than that, his camera, and all of his plants.

I wanna ask you more things. How did you first hear about chapel? I have literally no idea how people are meant to discover new musicians/new music really

i got into chappell when my beloved mutual mason sent me a message that was like hey this incredible song called pink pony club just came out and i think you would love it.... and the rest was history....

but seriously seeking out new music is the way to do it !!! i am always posting about musicians and new songs because forcing yourself to listen to new things (but not forcing yourself to finish it if its not for you) is the way to go
