Ares, knowing your name and reputation - alongside the fact that his father himself was scared of you - thought you'd be as scary as you were described. Whenever your name was brought up in a conversation - which happened quite rarely - people who'd grow pale and start shivering, which scared Ares immensly, despite trying not to show it. You became a sort of boogeyman in his mind, the kind of creature you'd talk about to children to have them got to sleep. So when he actually met you and discovered you didn't appear to be that frightnening, he immediately warmed up to you, being the himbo he is. When you get close to each other, whenever he sees you, he lights up - which is kinda ironic if you think about it. Ares has his perks and self-preservation doesn't appear to be one of them. How he has become devoid of any fear towards you and instead showers you with affection is a mystery to you, but it's much appreciated. All the rumours surrounding you weren't enough to scare him away after all and he surely is one funny god to have around. Family dinner are quite funny too for you. Zeus tries to avoid them whenever he can and you can have the time of your life by frightening Zeus himself.

Beelzebub recognises how similar you two are from the first moment he met you. Both of you feared and isolated deities, whose name alone makes the earth tremble, associated with darkness and ruin, whose presence is dreadful and nightmarish. Frightnening and unpleasant, he knew he'd get along well with you. To each other though, you're both kinda warmer, despite keeping a certain level of detachement between you two. You know about Beelzebub's curse - and have seen many curses during your long life - and try to look for a solution to it, despite his resistance. Being an ancient deity gave you much more experience than his, yet helping someone who doesn't want to be helped is a difficult job. Despite everything, when you two are together, you have the certainty that nobody will ever dare disturbing you. On your own you are both terrying, together you are Heaven's worst nightmare.

Loki isn't scared of you, what he's scared of is Odin finally punishing him for one of his many pranks. You are actually the one who could save him from his miserable fate! Not even Odin would dare to punish him if it meant crossing your path. You silently checking on him is more than enough for Loki to do whatever he want without having to deal with the consequences - unless he angers you, at that rate he'd probably be annihilated, but he doesn't want to reach that point. He is mischievous, not stupid, and doesn't want to die either. At first, he has to admit it, Loki was a little put off by you. You were intimidating to say the least, but he already had his good share of frightnening deities to deal with. You can be sure he will never and ever pull a prank on you, even though he'd like to try once. It may be his last prank though.

Nikola is the child of light; you are the goddess of night. The bright scientist and the gloomy deity. Complete opposites, yet he is enchanted by you. Nikola, believing in the power of science instead of gods' doesn't really understand why you seem to be feared by others. He can see how you can appear a little intimidating but aside from that, he finds your presence quite pleasant! Nikola believes that thanks to you he may also progress with his experiments - he is quite interested in your powers too. He doesn't want you to feel like a guinea pig though, because he doesn't absolutely see you that way. You are someone he knows will be of help in his researchs and sees you as a beacon who could make humanity itself evolve. You are his partner and Nikola values a lot your opinions and beliefs. The fact that you are an incredibly powerful deity is a bonus he doesn't dislike though. Thanks to his light and your darkness, he knows you'll be able to achieve great things together.

"I mean, how is it that I am only now learning of your origins in my court?" Selaene's laughter echoes in the emptiness that has now, century after century, become comforting. "My grandfather was part of the Night Court, but then he fell madly in love with my grandmother and decided to go with her to the Dawn Court. But you know the story."

After so many years together, Selaene and Vanessa can say that they have become more than friends, they have become sisters. The friend had seen the tiger a few times and had been amazed by her elegant and feline form: she had a white coat with black stripes that shone like the moon under the soft light of the passers-by, as they had called them. She had a sweet little face, and one could almost imagine her human form. From time to time, a passerby would come close enough to walk past her, but never close enough to catch her in time, and in recent years, the number of passersby had dwindled, making her doubt her plan.

"You know, Vane, I'm grateful you're here with me, I would have gone crazy without you."

"I was on the verge of madness when I found you. Maybe Mother wanted to give us a sister. You don't have one, do you?"

"No, only a brother, as you already know."

Another pause between the two as they continue to watch the darkness. A sad, bitter smile makes its way through the Fae's voice.

"We deserved a history like your grandparents'."

"But we got it. You have Azriel and I have Thomas."

"Vane..." Selaene did not have the heart to admit to herself that her beautiful mate, after her family thought her dead and after all these centuries, had probably forgotten her and moved on with his life. Not to mention telling Vanessa, who had so much faith in fate to envy.

"No, don't say that, Elle." She knew the tiger was haunted by such thoughts as well, and coming to terms with reality hurt too much. The conversation faded into a heavy silence, like at the beginning of their journey.

If Azriel had moved on, she would not have blamed him in any way, in fact, as much as it hurt, she would have let him go for his sake. Sometimes loving means knowing how to let go.

"Please, Selaene," it is rare for the friend to use her full name, and when she does, she is aware that she is beginning a serious and poignant speech, "remember. If you are lost in the darkness, seek the light."

"Or light it up." She cannot see her friend, but she knows she is smiling and nodding at the same time, as she is wont to do when she is pleased with something Selaene does.

This little play on words, which has become their phrase, has been with them for nearly four centuries, and every time they repeat it, that little spark of hope in their chests shines a little brighter.

A snort comes from the Fae's mouth. "What's wrong, Elle?"

"Nothing, it's just boring." Vanessa chuckles, "Come on, tell me about your family again, last time I think you missed a few adjectives about your brother's eyes."

The two women laugh, and Selaene is grateful that Vanessa enjoys listening to her so much.

"Rhysand's eyes tend to be more blue than mine. Mine are all purple. When he looks at the stars, he dreams. You know, Vane, I think he would be a big believer in if you get lost in the darkness, seek the light" Her friend's laughter echoes in the now familiar darkness, warming the atmosphere.

"Let me guess, he is also the biggest dreamer you know?"

"Of course. But only after me."

"After us. There is no one who dreams more than us."

Azriel sighs, the last breath as a free male of the evening.

Like every weekend, he and his family join in a dinner party at Feyre and Rhysand's house, and after Nyx's birth it is a rare event, which is why he could not say no.

He hasn't spoken to Feyre since what was said in his room, and he hopes she hasn't mentioned it to her mate, or tonight he will have to endure yet another lecture about how in life one must move on, that he also loved Selaene but that they must let her go.

Dinner doesn't go on so badly, it allows him to clear his mind a little and spend some light time, and Feyre doesn't seem to have said anything, doesn't even seem to remember what happened. She does not look at him with pity, and Azriel would like to hug her.

Later that evening the family is divided between those who play cards, those who drink and chat, and Azriel. Actually, he was part of the players, but after winning three out of four rounds, he was kicked out by a slightly tipsy and irritated Cassian. He wanted to retort that he only let Amren win the fourth round because he is slightly intimidated by her, but he opted to keep quiet. Now he stands on the terrace to get some fresh air. He gazes at the stars and the moon, smiling to himself as he remembers nights spent stargazing with his beloved. A sad smile. Azriel always thought Selaene was the reincarnation of the Moon, she shone with her own light, but not blinding like the sun, no, she was beautiful and deep and mysterious like that silver orb in the sky.

"Azriel?" the voice of Feyre distracted him from his thoughts.

"Yes?" Azriel sang victory too soon. He hoped Feyre had forgotten the whole thing, or simply decided to ignore it, but of course not. If it is not Rhysand, or Cassian, now Feyre is added to the list.

"I wanted to talk to you. About a few days ago...," the Fae's sea-colored eyes stare at his face for signs of despondency. Azriel continues to look at the moon. His Selaene.

"I... I haven't talked to Rhysand about it. I know Selaene's history, though, and I know-I mean, I see how your brothers look at you. Or how you're still loyal to her."

At the sound of his mate's name, Azriel grits his teeth. His body stiffens, but he forces himself to breathe. Once, twice, three times, before he looks at Feyre, meeting her eyes full of pity for him. But when he does, he finds none.

She looks at him understandingly, as if to say "I am here, talk to me."

He is surprised.

"Do you want to know my - our story, so then you will look at me as if I were a puppy left alone?"

Feyre smiles sadly, her gaze following that of the Illyrian warrior to the moon. There is a small pause before she responds.

"No, of course not, Az. Clearly I'm saddened, because from the way Rhysand described her, from the way you react just to hearing her name, she sounds like a really special person, and I would have liked to meet her myself. But I won't look at you with pity."

Azriel weighs his words carefully before speaking. Feyre for a moment thinks he might pull back, his posture stiff and his breaths short. But then the male sighs, muscles relaxing almost imperceptibly, and Feyre smiles at him before gently stroking his hand, as if to invite him to speak. As if he is saying "talk to me, I won't judge you," and only then does Azriel relent.

"She was a very special person. She was ... she was my moon."

The female senses the pain he is feeling from the squeaky voice, and knows it must be the first time he has spoken of this to anyone. She has never seen the ShadowSinger so...human, so fragile. And yet, her gaze remains fixed on his face, and her eyes do not make him pull back, but urge him to vent.

"She, we planned to accept the bond the week when she... On evenings like these I would sneak into her house and fly with her to Velaris, we would lie on the rocks and as we watched the stars, we would talk all night. She was...she was everything to me, Feyre. I've never loved anyone the way I loved her, and I don't think I can. Rhysand wants me to move on, to find someone to keep by my side. But I can't even think of another woman when my wound is still so fresh."

When Azriel finishes his speech, he feels a weight lift from his chest. Perhaps this is the first step, he thinks, to moving forward.

He looks at Feyre, searching her blue pools for something he cannot find. And he does not know what he finds there, but he is happy with what he sees. She smiles at him.

"You know, Az. Maybe sometimes loving someone is also knowing how to let go, maybe you've kept this weight on your chest too long, too afraid to show yourself vulnerable to your brothers. I'm glad you trusted me."

A comforting silence falls over them, and Azriel smiles. Feyre tries to speak again, but is interrupted by Cassian.

"Come on, you two! Who wants to play mime?"

And with that, the two return and take part in the games.

Kelly- Meeting Him

I turn the key in my car again irritated that my car won't start. Groaning I get out of the car and slam the door behind me. Leaning on the car I ring Connor but he doesn't answer, he's probably at work at the hospital. Sighing I end the call

"Sorry is everything ok?" A handsome stranger asks me

"I'm fine don't worry, just a broken down car"

"You want me to take a look at it?"

"Sure, knock yourself out" I say watching as he opens up the hood of the car "I'm YN Rhodes by the way" I stick my hand out for the guy to shake

"Rhodes as in Connor Rhodes?"

"Yeah that's my twin brother"

"Kelly Severide" he shakes my hand "how come I haven't see you around before?" I take in a deep breath

"I tend to keep to myself really. Don't usually do bars or going out in general, but tonight I was on a date. Went pretty shit" I chuckle thinking back to my date

"How so?"

"The guy wouldn't stop talking about himself. Liked to drop in the fact he had a yacht every couple of minutes" both Kelly and I chuckle

"Well, I'm afraid it looks like your going to need a new car battery"

"Great" I groan with annoyance

"I'll give you a lift home"

"Oh no it's absolutely...."

"Don't say ok or it's fine. I'll drop you off home"

"Thank you"

It's about a 15 minute drive and the whole tome we just chat about ourselves and jobs. Kelly tells me he's a firefighter while I tell him that I work for the family business with the numbers. When we arrive I get kind of disappointed that our chat has to end so I offer him a drink inside, to which he agrees to. As soon as I open the door, my black German Shepard greets me

"Hello my baby" I squish her face in my hands and kiss her. I look back at Kelly who's smiling "sorry I should have warned you that I have a dog. Her names Nyx she's super friendly so be prepared for cuddles"

"She's beautiful"

"Thank you. I rescued her a couple years ago, kept me company since then. Do you want a beer?"

"Sure" I walk over to the kitchen with Kelly and Nyx following me "you've got a nice place"

"Thanks it's not much but it's good enough for me and this girl" I give Nyx a head rub then open up the fridge and hand Kelly a cold beer and take one for myself. We go back to the living room where Nyx climbs onto the sofa next to me and places her head on my lap

"How long have you lived in Chicago?"

"Forever. Connor was the one who left us all as soon as he could. Clair, our younger sister was bitter about Connor leaving us with our father"

"And what about you?"

"At first yeah. I became a mother figure to Clair and I resented Connor for leaving when I couldn't. I then soon realised that the reason I hated him was only because Connor did what I wanted to do. Leave the family business, you know I actually wanted to be a firefighter" I sip my beer

"Then why don't you do it?"

"Dad" I give Kelly a sad smile "can't do it to him. Probably will end up giving him a heart attack"

"You shouldn't give up your dreams because your scared your dads going have a hissy fit" sighing I get off the couch and go to the kitchen to grab us both another beer. What I don't realised is Kelly has followed me in, until I turn around and face him. He tucks away a stray hair "you should do what you want to do. If your dad doesn't like it then so be it"

"It's not as easy as that. If I go against him I literally loose everything. My dad pays for my car, my house. Of course I don't want him to do, but if I leave the company all of that stops and I will have no income. I've had one beer and I'm pouring my heart out to you. I'm sorry"

"Don't apologise"

After quite a few beers we both end up drunk. Not wanting to worry about Kelly driving or worrying if he's home safely I tell him to stop the night. We end up in bed together, for the first time since having her, Nyx slept on the floor.

CASSIA while she's not usually one to hold onto things, i know for a fact cassia carries a strong and bitter grudge toward her mom's side of the family--specifically her maternal grandparents and one of her two aunts. i'd mentioned previously that esme's side of the family didn't accept cassia's transition, but that's not the heart of the reason for her grudge. their rejection was more a general final straw and lead to their estrangement (also they would have been estranged regardless, if they hadn't accepted cassia for who she is ofc, just to clarify; i just mean to say shit was already stacked up).

esme struggles with high anxiety. where cassia is loud and energetic and loves being the center of attention, esme has always been soft-spoken, a bit timid, and tries to take up as little space in a room as possible. much of this behavior can be attributed to the environment she was raised in.

while esme (and oliver) haven't provided cassia with heavy details--your child can support you, but it isn't their responsibility to carry your burdens--she knows enough to understand why esme's demeanor would change during certain family visits.

cassia will sometimes commit petty acts of '''violence''', such as signing up to junkmail newsletters with her aunt and grandparents' email addresses, or prank calling their house before caller ID was a thing, or a variety of other harmless--but extremely annoying--"pranks". she mostly only does this when she's in a low place, herself, and she doesn't talk about it to much of anyone outside her therapist (because she knows her parents would gently chide her). it's her dirty little secret. wouldn't surprise me if she has some kind of burn book somewhere in her room specifically for them.

NYXRAM nyx is not a person to hold onto things, be them grudges or material items. if something's becoming dead weight she lets it go.

there is, however, one exception.

i've mentioned nyx was the only survivor of her clutch. she doesn't remember most of her siblings, but she does remember her brother. for dozens of cycles in her youth, the two of them trained together. they had a complicated relationship; there were moments of competition and resentment, but there were also moments of silent support. until the day came that their parents decided it was time for that first kill to be made. nyxram's first kill was her brother and last remaining sibling. he never earned a name.

i'm not sure if "haunted" is the right word, but nyxram seems to believe her brother is still with her in some way. she refers to him as a feeling she gets--almost a sixth-sense-like impulse that alerts her to approaching/unseen danger and keeps her alive when something should have gotten the jump on her. whether she considers this a blessing or more of a curse depends on the day. she got to live that day, so she's going to keep living... whether she wants to or not.

for a long time, she kept the knife she used to kill him. but when traximus goes to mourn tilus and leaves a spear at his grave, nyxram leaves the knife. i wouldn't say she's left her brother, or the associated tangle of complicated emotions, behind. but it is a first step to allowing herself some kind of peace.

GWYN it's a cop-out answer, but i feel like i have to say ash, given this is a point of argument between them throughout their journey.

ash considers herself dead, as i've mentioned, and has come to peace with it as well as the idea that she may be a literal weapon for the rest of her sentience. she often wishes gwyn would move on and live for herself, rather than continue risking her life for what ash considers an unreachable goal. but gwyn won't, or can't, let her go.

darach has tried the tactic of "look at the trail of pain and misery you've left behind--all these people hurt, the sense of security in their lives forever tainted; it would all end if you just surrendered her to me".

and like... gwyn knows he's right. he'd stop pursuing her, the "ripple effect" of her presence on any world would vanish and people around her--regardless of their involvement--would stop suffering. but... whether you call it loyalty or selfishness, she won't let ash go.

now she's landed in new york. and the ripple is starting to spread.

ASH again, a bit of a cop-out answer but if i were going to provide any answer, it'd be gwyn. ash will absolutely use whatever little bit of power she has to keep gwyn alive. outside of that, though... she's at peace with the fact she's "dead". she doesn't hold on to much else.

Howdy! this is the continuation of "When does a man become a monster" Hope you enjoy WC : 981 (It is shorter than the previous Sorry >.<) Reminder : I do this for fun and will upload as I finish each part!

The weeks she had spent at Moonrise were what she would call uneventful. She wasn’t able to find any information about how to kill Kethric, minus the information that he is using some form of relic to keep his immortality. Where this relic was located, she hadn’t figured out yet. At least it wasn’t completely boring. She was able to have some form of authority alongside Kethric to keep some order throughout Moonrise, but there was no sign of her brother. He became merely a memory during her time spent in the shadowlands. She accepted the fact that he was gone forever. Deep down, she believed she deserved to be alone. Neither friends nor family. She was alone in this abyss of darkness, and she allowed it to consume her. Every creature that walked through the doors of the tower was at her and Kethric’s mercy, and that gave her the feeling of what power could be. She thrived off the fear people would have when they were told they had to answer her before Kethric found out anything. It was almost like a high that she did not want to come down from. As long as she could forget everything before she came all the way to this region, she was happy. She didn’t have to think about Bhaal, she didn’t have to worry about Orin, and she didn’t have to remember all her failures here. She was finally getting a taste of what it was like to be like her brother. He was the right hand man for everything, while she always came in second, the last resort if he failed. However, she would be better than him. She wouldn’t let the power get to her head. She would do this the way she was trained to do it. 

Wendigo and General Thorm were in the throne room. There were goblins there that failed to bring a 'true soul' here, and along with them, just not following orders. The goblins were pleading, trying to make there case, as Wendigo stood there at attention, waiting for her next command for what she needed to do. Standing there by where General Thorm was sitting on his throne, Wendigo commanded the three goblins before her to speak about how they failed to do such a simple task that was supposed to be carried out. A simple task that a child could've handled on their own. 

"I did as I was told! Followed every order that was given-" 

"The facts suggest otherwise. You were ordered to retrieve the artifact- you failed to do so."

Wendigo cut off the goblin that was trying to plead her case. She sounded cold, commanding like a solider. All she knew, based on the information given to her, was that these goblins failed to carry out a task given by the Kethric.

"Take that up with Minthara! She was the one who-"

"Enough!"

Wendigo stepped forward from where she was standing, still holding her place near the General. It looked like she was daring the goblin to continue speaking. It would be satisfying to see their tongues cut out of their mouths, or maybe ripping out their vocal chords would be a better punishment

"You failed to retrieve the artifact; you failed to protect your True Soul-"

"NYX!!" 

A familiar voice echoed throughout the throne room. Wendigo saw a man stepping forward as she was about to continue to tear into the goblins about their failures, only to see the man stopped in his tracks by a pale elf with white hair and red eyes.

“A vampire? Way out here ?”

She thought as she looked at the group that just interrupted what was happening. She looked up at the person who spoke her name. Only one person would know it unless-

"Creed..."

She whispered under her breath. She just wanted to run up to him and hug her brother, but she didn’t understand why he called her by her birth name. Was this a trick ? Is he just playing one of his stupid games to make everyone doubt her? She was confused by everything in this moment. Who were the others he was traveling with outside of the pale elf ? Who was the human traveling with him? Were there others? She hesitated to speak, but her hesitation didn't go unnoticed as she saw Kethric rise from his throne.

"Is there a problem, Wendigo? "

She took a deep breath in, and soon enough, her facade was replaced by the cold, heartless person she was moments before. She straightened her posture and held her chin high.

"No, General."

"Good. We are too close to the ending and the new beginning. I can coddle failure no longer. Kill them. Quickly."

Kethric commanded, and with that, the goblins started getting mad. How cute they think they can take him Soon enough, with all the yelling, one of the goblins threw a harbringer at Kethric. Wendigo had to hold back a laugh because everyone who didn't know Kethric's little secret was about to witness that he couldn't be killed. Not that easily, but of course Wendigo knew the source of his power. 

Once the harbringer made contact with Kethric’s chest, he fell back into his throne, but he soon got back up and ripped it out of his chest like it was nothing. He walked over to the goblin that threw the weapon at him, dropped it at his feet, and with a blink of an eye, the goblin was dead. The room fell silent for a moment before Kethric spoke up once more.

"Dispose of the rest as you see fit, or take advantage of our surprise guest. Regardless, I'm sure the results will send a clear message to the troops on the importance of discipline."

He looked over at Wendigo to make sure she understood.

"Of course. It will be handled."

Does Regis know that untrained magic can kill the user? Because if he does, well, it kind of makes the Galahdians justified in being so angry with him.

Like, he knows that magic kills if not trained but still has a fuck-ton of one night stands. And he apparently he didn't use condoms, or keep track of their names or even leave them a number to contact him if something like this happened. And sure, it might be that Regis never thought he would have a bastard, but try telling that to Nyx and his family. Thoughtless mistakes are not exactly an improvement on deliberately endangering someone, when there are lives on the line.

and the royal line is trained since birth to use their magic because magic can respond to strong emotions and toddlers with no training lead to things on fire or broken

regis is also a smart man who is well studied in magic and has his own son and the family warnings to always start them training as young as possible, get the magic under control, you can use your magic to calm your childs when it goes out of control - he has all of that ringing in his head and he's a smart man and he could probably figure it out

Brief Personality: Sam is very quiet when you first meet him, he seems to not trust anyone or anything really. But when you break through his walls he is a very sweet and passionate person, they genuinely care about their family and just want to be accepted by other people. Which often means he will overwork himself just to “prove” himself to others, he honestly doesn’t know many connections where he doesn’t have to give something to another person.

Brief Backstory:

Sam was born to a long line of magical creatures. The occult was incredibly normal in their family, having connections to the occult and the divine. His family had a powerful inherent magic ability, however when Sam was born there wasn’t a celebration.

Long ago, one of Sam’s oldest ancestors made a deal with a demon, Azazel. As she was on the verge of being executed for witchcraft. She made a deal with the demon that the first boy born to their family would belong to Azazel. And to save her life she agreed.

This wasn’t a problem for many generations. They successfully had generations upon generations of women. The most recent generations couldn’t even remember the curse very well, until Sam came along.

Sam was treated differently than his sisters, he wasn’t given the same toys or the same opportunities. His family believed since that he would be given up to the demon at 18, there was no point in developing a relationship or spending money or time with him.

Sam tried everything he could in order to get his families approval. Becoming one of the most powerful magic users in his family. However nothing was enough. And the time was slowly ticking to when he turned 18.

A few weeks before his 18th birthday, he ran away from home and made an abandoned house his sanctuary. Completely demon proofing it.. well mostly.. even though the demon couldn’t get to him physically, he could still mentally torment him, and attempt to get him physically.

Sam eventually ends up being protected by the divine forces his family tried to keep him from. And he slowly realizes how weak Azazel actually is, unlike how his family thought for generations.

Sam ends up breaking the bond between him and Azazel and kills him. Before going to live with his real found family, protecting them from the occult.

Dalia picked up a bunch of tips and tricks for dealing with kids both from helping raise her siblings and from treating kids as a nurse, uses them all the time, her personal favorite thay she's picked up is doubling bedsheets when kids are sick so that if they get dirty you can just take it off and make it a later problem while you comfort said sick child. Dalia is also very sentimental as a parent, cries at every ceremony and graduation. Sometimes she'll say something that sounds like her mother and she goes quiet for a while after that. I have a feeling that Sabrina and Dalia's house tends to be the designated 'safe house' for Vee and Jasper's friends. Dalia's actually kind of happy about this, in her mind it's confirmation that she's not her mother. (This may or may not be based on the fact that my house irl is the safehouse). Next up Nyx, my boy. He feels like a walking second place trophy compared to all his siblings. Brushes it off in an Rottmnt Leo sort of way, through humor and a facade of confidence. Desperately wants anyone to be proud of him. Takes his little siblings out crimeing™️ together sometimes, and is like the number one supporter of their shenanigans. Let's them steal his shit, as long as they don't get caught(bc he taught them better than that). The only thing he'd put up a fight against having stolen is his binder, but that's about it.

Oh and Onyx is the one with an ED, she has anorexia specifically. It started with her just trying to lose weight, she's fairly light, but her frame is wide, so she didn't see any results and things got drastic from there, especially when people started making fun of her for her body. She's super sensitive to comments about her body, and the bullying just made it so much worse. She hates looking at herself, in mirrors, in pictures, anything. It's like her eyes pick out the flaws every time and she can't stand it. So she's trying to 'fix' herself, much to the worry of the people around her. She eats in the dream bubbles, but that's only because she knows that it isn't real. Harlow noticed this and has started sneaking food into the dream bubbles just so Onyx eats for once. Onyx still hasn't caught onto this.

The Elixir wouldn’t burn either Kenmuri and  The solider Kept the Elixir for the Night but they were attacked by the Other Soldiers wanting to Take it for themselves so , The Soldier Gave to Kenmuri  and told him to Run being killed trying to buy him time . Eventually he was Cornered by the others and Decided to Drink it out of Desperation .

When Nyx first unlocked the ability to communicate with his soulmate telepathically, he was understandably excited. He was careful at first, unsure, sending messages in hopes of a response. When he didn't get any, he was worried that he was doing something wrong, but decided to continue nonetheless.

In hindsight, he supposes that might've been very annoying and that his soulmate was frustrated enough to finally send a message back. Nyx didn't care at the time, too excited to know more. He slowly learned tidbits about his soulmate, but never enough to figure out who they were. They didn't want to tell him their name, though he had told them his own without hesitation. It didn't matter – he would take what he could get.

Time passed. He chatted with his soulmate often, even if a lot of the conversations were one sided. He liked whenever his soulmate responded, quietly admitted to himself that his voice was lovely. He told his soulmate of his adventures – his hunts and achievements. That once they met, he wanted to introduce them to his family.

Then Niflheim attacked and he fell quiet, part of him numb with the loss of his sister. He told his soulmate he was moving to Insomnia, which got him a response he couldn't decipher, but he left it alone. He eventually started talking more again, comforted by the fact that there was someone out there, supposed just for him.

He really should've known that the fates liked playing games.

He had been on guard duty when the Chancellor of Niflheim came with news of the peace treaty and because he had found it boring, he had decided to send a running commentary of what was happening to his soulmate. The King looks like he just smelled something foul. No, seriously – it reminds me of the time Yamachang had come up with a new recipe and Libertus and I decided to have a taste. Let's just say that our bodies did not agree to whatever the guy had put in the food. Crowe compared to us to skunks and didn't want to be around us for weeks.

It was when the Chancellor had snorted lightly and had to hide a chuckle that Nyx got suspicious. Even more so when he met the guy's gaze and he mentally commented on the guy's attire and he saw his lips twitch.

Greek Mythology in Twisted Wonderland: Book 6 Part 1

greetings fellow travelers! book 6 has officially dropped and i am here to info dump with greek mythology stuff that i have retained over the years. some of the information comes from reputable sites like britanica (which i will source) and other greek mythos. book 6 is interesting because it contains a lot of greek myths and references than any other book. and while the movie hercules does mention some of it, i will be doing a deep dive for those who are interested. i'm sure there are plenty of people who are more coherent than i am, but imma do my best. i will post part 2 in another post once that book is dropped as well so stay tuned once that happens.

everything will be under the read more because i know for a fact that it's gonna be long. so. let's get started.

aight so just to get it out of the way, the numbers that the guards are using (hepta, hexa, penta, etc.) are numbers in greek. it's not mythology, but i find that part fascinating to read.

these are references to charon, who is the ferryman of the dead who leads the souls, or shades as they are called, into the underworld by using the river styx or river acheron depending on myth. charon is also the son of erebus, the god and personification of darkness, and nyx, the goddess and personification of night.

the first river is the river styx, which means hatred and is one of the rivers that the gods swear on and is named after a nymph. also used in many greek tales such as achilles becoming immortal by his mother thetis dipping him in the river. styx and acheron often interchange which river charon ferries over depending on the story and myth, such as dante's inferno.

the second river called the lethe river, which means forgetfulness. before the souls enter the underworld, they are told to drink the water so they forget their earthly existence. it is also named after a minor goddess who is the daughter of eris.

the fourth river is the river phlegethon, which means river of fire. the reason it's called that is because it is said to travel to the depths of the underworld where the land is filled with fire. more specifically, the flames of the funeral pyres. this river actually leads to tartarus, which is where the dead are judged and where it holds the titans and its supporters as prisoners.

the fifth and last river is the river cocytus, which is also called the river of wailing. it is also considered to be a river of cries and lamentation. this river actually houses shades that have not received a proper burial and is one of the rivers that charon refuses to ferry over. the river banks of cocytus would have shades wandering the grounds in search of payment so they may go to their final resting place.

this one is a fun little tidbit about the shroud family. jupiter is actually the roman version of zeus, the god of the sky and thunder. he also has fathered many children such as athena, the goddess of wisdom and war strategy, artemis, the goddess of the hunt, apollo, god of medicine, arts, etc., and many heroes such as perseus, who is known for slaying medusa, helen of troy, who is known as being one of the reasons why the trojan war was started, and, most notably, heracles. also known as the roman name hercules. zeus, or jupiter, was also the king of the gods. olympos (also known as olympus but just a different spelling) is the home of the gods.

this one is just fun! hecate is the goddess of witchcraft and has been known to be associated with the spiritual world and the dead. she also helped assist in finding demeter's daughter, persephone, and when it was revealed she would spend a third of the year in the underworld, hecate became persephone's companion. in some myths, hecate was also known for assisting hades.

oceanus is a titan god of the ocean. in some versions, he was born from the union of gaea and chaos, while in other myths he was born from the union of gaea and uranus. oceanus was one of the titans that did not participate in the titanomachy against the gods, thus sparing him from imprisonment. there are stories where he either did not participate, or he sent his daughter styx to help fight in the war, along with styx's own children.

this part takes an interesting take on what happened to the titans. in the original myth, the titans were the predecessors to the olympian gods. in the myth, cronus, the father of zeus, hades, poseidon, hera, demeter, and hestia, learned about a prophecy about how he was about to be overthrown by one of his children and, terrified of it becoming true, would summon rhea, his sister-wife, to bring forth their newly birthed child and would eat them. the only one that was saved was zeus because rhea tricked cronus into eating a rock instead of a baby. when zeus made his return, he but open his father's stomach and out came his five siblings. thus, the titanomachy was formed, which was a battle between the titans and the olympian gods. the war ended ten years later with the titans' defeat and thus were sealed in tartarus.

tartarus is actually part of the underworld. it's a primordial deity that predates the olympian gods. not only are the titans sealed up in tartarus, but also various different types of monsters and creatures and villains that wish to break free from its hold. fun fact, cronus actually used tartarus before zeus did, where cronus imprisoned the cyclopes and the hecatonchires, who was a creature with a thousand arms and faces. the two groups also sided with the olympian gods during the titanomachy.

i mean, yes but also no. in some versions of myth, it was said that the three brothers - zeus, poseidon, and hades - drew lots to see who would reign over what region. zeus was lucky and would rule over the sky, poseidon would rule over the ocean, and hades would rule over the underworld. hades, obviously, would not be happy with his pick but he diligently did his best with ruling over the underworld. no one really made him do it, but he knows that no one else is going to so he stepped up and ruled the underworld. as for tartarus, i believe that the distance between the two wasn't that significant, but hades will know if someone broke free from the prison.

like hecate and oceanus, these are just fun little flavor points. elysium is the afterlife for those who were either born from a god or were heroes, like achilles for example. eventually, it would expand to whomever the gods deemed worthy and were righteous and heroic. in some myths, elysium was either already in the underworld or was created when persephone arrived to the underworld.

cerberus is the three headed dog that guards the underworld and the child of typhon and echidna, as well as being the siblings of the sphynx, the nemean lion, and other creatures. fun fact, cerberus actually doesn't have three heads. it depends on how he's depicted in art and story, but he mostly either has one head and many tales, multiple heads, or having the heads of snakes from his back. since a lot of urns would depict cerberus with three heads, it stuck that he became the three headed hound of the underworld.

i've mentioned tartarus before so i won't get into too much detail with it, but it is interesting how twisted wonderland takes the concept and creates a new narrative to help fit into the story.

and that's it so far! this took a really long time and was interesting to go back on my notes to see how much greek myths were mentioned. there are other parts where certain characters make an appearance, but i feel like it will be good to be in another part because it was very brief or it would be part of a bigger picture than what was mentioned. if you have any questions, concerns, or you want me to expand on something, let me know and i'll try and answer as best as i can. otherwise, enjoy book six and more to come!

1. Is Your Character Good, Evil, or Neutral? (Makes some good decisions, some bad ones?)

Tavaria leans towards more good than neutral. She is selfless and willing to do anything for others HOWEVER she learned a few tricks from Astarion. One being to steal. If it can be looted, it is in her bag of holding!

2. What Hobbies Do They Partake In?

Tavaria loves to read. She particularly loves romance books with 2 bit smut. She loves to read stories with happy endings and she is a sucker for true love. She loves the smut aspect particularly after Astarion was gifted her virginity. She loved the concept of two becoming one and the deeper connection she gains from it. She was a sucker all things related to love. Tavaria likes to sing or hum when alone, never gaining the confidence to sing in front of others yet. Astarion caught her a few times but she still refused to sing in front of him.

3. Do They Own Any Heirlooms From Their Family or Ancestors?

Tavaria comes from an abusive family and she would rather not have anything from her family or ancestors. She doesn't have heirlooms because of that and instead creates new traditions and memories with Astarion.

4. Can Your Character Cook?

Yes and very well too! She just doesn't like to so she delegates that task to Gale more often than not. She is particularly good at making curry and beef stew. Tav occasionally cooks and when she does, nothing is left behind. Karlach especially loves Tav's cooking!

5. Does Your Character Have a Best Friend?

Yes. Tavaria used to have a few friends but no one she could rely on until Karlach came into the picture. Karlach is always there for Tavaria and they share everything about each other. Karlach gets all the juicy gossip about Astarion (with a few exceptions. Tav does respect Astarion and wont say anything too sensitive). Other than Karlach, Gale is a decent friend but since Gale still harbors feelings for her, Tav refuses to lean on him too much due to that.

6. Their Biggest Fear?

Tav is terrified of never finding herself. She lived with abuse so much that she had to bend herself to other's will for too long. She lost her sense of who she was and wants to regain it. She is afraid she never will figure out who she truly is because of the trauma. Astarion has been helping her and guiding her in her therapy but they both need help and can only offer support to each other. Jaheira tends to help as well.

7. Name One of Their Red Flags.

Tavaria needs to have control over herself because for as far back as she can remember, she had others controlling her. She doesn't want that to happen again and so she needs to be in control of her own being (not really drinking for example and no drugs as well as she can't have her body be out of her control). She never controls others, like Astarion. Instead she retreats to her tent if things become too much. Astarion usually would join her and they'd find a way to help her feel in control. Usually in the bedroom but Astarion is fine with it as Tav always asks consent and she never does anything to trigger his trauma.

Mnemosyne Vicas

He's essentially my medium to interact with twst's overall story since I struggle with doing sonas or self inserts (mostly due to the fact I have trouble understanding myself as a single person being a system and what not)

He's kinda the main oc if you will (｡･･｡) since I put a lot of thought into making him (even his name has ties to themes of memory because of the ghost camera) though his origin is pretty KH heavy, it's pretty much incomprehensible if you've never played/watched Kingdom Hearts Union Cross •́ε•̀٥

Mnemosyne ADORES Grim, he's one of the few people besides Malleus who recognizes him as a monster instead of a cat/weasel/cute animal. Although he doesn't refer to Grim as a monster, instead a beast felt more accurate for him.

I think his most interesting relationship would have to be......Jade? The entire nature of their bond is complicated at best, incomprehensible at worst.

And what started their relationship (or the very least, both Jade's fascination and infatuation with Mnems) only makes this worse. Nothing like almost amputating someone's arm to get those feelings going! Mnemosyne still feels bad for the whole thing even if it was justified (seeing as the tweels were ordered to stop Mnemosyne from winning the bet with Azul)

Yuna

No last name for now (I'll add it once I've figure it out!!) She's a secondary MC to Mnemosyne (Yuu 2? You two!!) She's actually based on the fact I've haven't really gotten to indulged in stuff like this in years ;; it's kinda odd to get back into oc x canon when the last time I've done that was maybe what? 5-6 years ago??? She's the epitome of a nerdy and dorky teenager with a heavy media based interest.

In a sense, Yuna is my love letter to all those teen girls from the early 2000's who were so lovingly shameless with the content they made for the media they loved （●＾o＾●） she probably has made a LOT of self insert fics (definitely a very famous x reader author on a fanfic site)

Nyx

Nyx is Yuna's best friend!! She's kinda the contrast to Yuna, being a known cosplayer on Instagram since Yuna and Nyx comes from our world.

She doesn't get involved with the twst world itself but she's incredibly important to Yuna, since she was the one who would always encourage her when she thought she couldn't do something.

She's best known for her cosplays of Azul and Jade because, though her reasoning to frequently cosplaying Azul is because of Yuna who adores him (and the fact Nyx wants nothing more than the person she loves to be happy)

Yuna and Nyx's story are heavily intertwined even though Yuna is stuck in twisted wonderland and Nyx is back home in our world.

Vicus & Arena

I haven't gotten around to drawing them yet (still stuck in dress up game prison 💔) they're twins based on the glass slippers from Cinderella!

Vicus is named after the Latin word for quartz! Since clear quartz bares a resemblance to glass and quartz itself is used in the making of watches (a reference to the limited time Cinderella had to spend at the ball)

Arena's name comes from the Latin word for sand since it's the main component used in making glass. Her name also greatly resembles the name Aranea, which means spider (since when safety glass breaks, it creates a spider web effect inside the glass)

The twins have a very complicated family relationship, their blood father left passed, to which their mother got remarried. But then her stepfather turned out to be cheating on her with his mistress. They got divorced and compromised by separating the twins as both parents stilled loved the children so dearly. Vicus stayed with his mother while Arena was taken in by her stepfather and mistress.

To put it simply : theyre long lost twins! They were separated at age 4 and reunite as second years albeit they clash in terms of personality

Vicus goes to RSA, he's sweet, a big believer and a bit clumsy. He's always helping people and taking care of others. He doesn't seem to care much about his appearance and yet is always so well dressed (his reasoning is simple, his mother taught him to)

Arena... Well much like her family, everything about her is complicated. She attend NRC despite it being an all boys school. Why you may ask? Her stepmother's bargaining of course. Her home life wasn't bad but it wasn't exactly intimate either.

Her stepfather is never at home, always on a business trip and her stepmother whom while did love her was strict and in her mind knew what's best for her daughter. This cause Arena to grow with the mindset she has now today, "to be the best of the best, better than everyone else, better than the me before."

For obvious reasons, she's been placed in Pomefiore and greatly admires Vil. Many people mistake her admiration for romantic interest, but in truth Arena simply wants to be like Vil.

Unlike her long lost brother, Arena is snarky and at times a bit self centered. She has no time to interact with strangers and people who are lesser to her much less unworthy of her presence, only circling herself around strong and powerful figures like Vil and many of the Dorm and Vice Dorm leaders.

Knowing that, she's definitely jealous of Epel. Why choose someone who seemed so unwilling to work for Vil when she's right here?!?! She'd do ANYTHING. to be closer to Pomefiore's queen, even if it meant getting her hands dirty

My lengthy, angry ACOSF rant review.

I loved ACOTAR. I still love ACOTAR. I always will love ACOTAR. But every book afterwards made me give up more and more. ACOMAF romanticized an abusive relationship and assassinated characters for the author's convenience. ACOWAR was a bunch of boring and inconsequential death scares. ACOFAS was all-round dreadful. And each book kept shitting on and pushing away Lucien for no reason.

I'd like to preface this by saying I hated Nesta too. I hated the way she treated Feyre in ACOTAR especially, and I wasn't even too excited for this book because I wasn't that keen on Nesta as a character.

Nesta's POV and her backstory changed my perspective. It does not excuse her actions. All Nesta stans can hold these characters accountable for what they do - trauma is a reason, not an excuse. I, and many others, sided with Nesta because of the way she's treated by everyone else in this book. Also, if you're going to hate Nesta for not teaching Feyre how to read and letting her hunt at fourteen, (which I did, and are very valid things to hate), AT LEAST hold Elain accountable too.

This book. This fucking book.

Shall we start with the intervention? Feyre on her little power trip thinks that her boyfriend that hates Nesta and Nesta hates back, Nesta's ex-best friend, and her possible mate who she never talks to should be at this stupid fucking intervention??? Excuse me???

Remember in ACOMAF when Feyre wouldn't shut up about how rich Rhysand is? Feyre literally has four or five houses and is always talking about how much jewelry and lingerie she can afford because Rhysand is so rich??? Well, Nesta has a few shots. So you know what Feyre does? Humiliates Nesta at this "intervention", TEARS DOWN HER HOME, and forces her to go to the Illyrian training camp.

That was the god awful premise for this book.

Did you think Elain wasn't there because she was against the "intervention"? Nope! She was packing Nesta's belongings without permission.

Remember in ACOMAF when it's made a big fucking deal that locking up a traumatised woman is extremely damaging? Well, when Nesta decides she doesn't want to be in Illyria, Feyre locks her in the House of Wind. Nesta can't fly, so her only way of leaving is down the TEN THOUSAND STEPS, that Feyre KNOWS Nesta isn't capable of climbing.

Feyre's pregnant. In ACOFAS she randomly decided that she wanted a baby to remember Rhysand by if he dies. Which doesn't make any sense because they made that stupid fucking death pact in ACOWAR. It's just SJM superimposing her pregnancy onto her early 20's protagonist. Ignoring the fact that Feyre isn't ready for a baby and Rhysand CERTAINLY isn't, and with a war just ended and another looming and so much trauma and a DEATH PACT are all such horrible circumstances to bring a child into, Feyre is already pregnant. Remember when SJM made a big deal about Fae babies being so hard to conceive, and Feyre said in ACOFAS they wouldn't have to worry for a long time because it can take years to conceive your first Fae child? Well it's been no more than 3 or 4 months and Feyre's already pregnant. Yep.

Also the birth will kill her. Because of course it will. Rhysand KNEW this, and still agreed to try for a baby.

There's no solution. Abortions don't exist for some stupid reason, and a C section would apparently kill Feyre?

(Wasn't this book supposed to be about Nessian?)

In ACOWAR, Cassian was on the battlefield with his entrails around his knees. Someone had to literally hold his guts in for him, and he's fine, but you're telling me a C section would kill Feyre?

Don't worry, this is just setting up the AWFUL ending to this book.

ACOSF amounts to Nesta being gaslit into believing her abusers are right. Her friends and family slut shame her and shame her for her lifestyle constantly. Cassian says it took him decades to work through some of his trauma, and he tried to drink and fuck it away too, but suddenly when Nesta does so it's heinous? Nesta's barely twenty five and she's expected to cope better than these ancient immortals.

Hell, didn't SJM write ACOMAF? Nobody expected Feyre to pick herself up so quickly. The IC (excluding Rhysand) respected her boundaries for the most part and understood when it was grief, trauma, and turmoil that made her angry, sad, want to be left alone, etc. But that's all forgotten here.

Amren also compares Nesta to the people in, and says she belongs in, The Court of Nightmares. You know, the murderers, abusers and rapists? This innocent woman who had a few shots and a bit of sex is on par with them, apparently!

The sex scenes.

SJM is scared to say vagina so she says sex.

She says seed to mean semen.

Apparently the word cunt turns SJM on. I just found Cassian saying that kinda cringe because I'm Bri'ish so the word cunt really isn't a big deal.

Back to the baby killing Feyre, because this is definitely what we all wanted from this book as indicated by the change in covers and format and title... Rhysand decides not to tell Feyre. He tells her friends and family, and tells them not to tell her.

SJM loves sweeping Rhysand's abuse from the first book under the rug and claiming it's always about Feyre's choice... where is that here, MAAS? WHERE IS IT?

Anyway, when Nesta rightfully decides to tell Feyre (although it is kind of out of spite), Rhysand threatens to kill Nesta.

And I believed him. With the way he treats his """mAtE tHaT hE lOvEs sO mUcH""" and all the people he's mindlessly killed before, do you really think he wouldn't kill the person who gave Feyre an inch of autonomy?

So what does Cassian do? His lover who he cares deeply about and suspects is his mate has received a death threat from tHe mOsT pOwErFuL hIgH lORd iN hIsToRy.

Cassian simply gets Nesta out of the court.

EXCUSE ME?

He doesn't breathe ONE word to Rhysand about this. This Illyrian WARRIOR who fought with his GUTS HANGING OUT didn't dare step up to the hIGh lOrD who he considers his brother and sparrs and fights with all the time?

Cassian literally does nothing.

Was it not Rhysand himself who said Mated males are dangerous? Can kill anyone who looks at their mate? Can be dangerous simply leaving the house? Rhys and Feyre both pull the Mate card to justify their bad actions on the other's behalf... and Cassian just tried to get Nesta out of the court?

Also, this High King bullshit.

I swear to fucking god, if SJM DARES to make this abusive, power-tripping, mOsT pOwErFuL hIgH lOrD eVEr, husband-insert of hers hIgH kInG, I will fight her in the street.

My beloved Lucien is in this book. Only for him to be used and shat on.

I really liked it when he calmed Cassian down with just a look though. Yes please fox man.

Helion is also in this book. Nothing to do with Lucien.

Eris is also in this book. ERIS. Lucien's eldest brother. The same one who abused him for years, but according to SJM he's slightly better, because at least he didn't agree to kill Lucien's lover. He betrayed his daddy that one time, therefore Eris is good. Y'know, the same Eris who abused Mor? Left her laying on the Autumn Court border with a nail in her womb? Well SJM is going back on her own canon to redeem yet ANOTHER abusive male, while continuing to demonize Tamlin for things he only happened to do when SJM decided the villain from the first book was sexy.

Nesta and Cassian are Mates.

Remember when Mates were supposed to be a rare and sacred thing? Now SJM dishes them out like Oprah.

I don't want these characters to be mates. I want to see them slowly fall in love. But SJM is incapable of writing that so she forces them together with the mAtInG bOnD. That's literally the only basis for most of these relationships, Feysand especially.

The only relationship where the bond would make sense is between Helion and The Lady of Autumn. Who still isn't named. But I will die on the hill that they're mates, I can feel it between them.

I wanted someone to die in this book. I predicted that it would either be Helion or Tarquin, but Tarquin isn't even in this one.

And the ending.

SJM can't write a decent climax, so she kills both Feyre and Rhysand for the second time. Yep.

The baby is being born which stupidly kills Feyre, and thankfully takes Rhysand with them.

Nesta decides to save them. Bad choice. But she decides to save them! Because she's so powerful and she ATE THE CONTENTS OF THE CAULDRON and she's CONNECTED TO THE MOTHER.

Do you know what happens.

The powers we've hardly seen, the powers that were briefly mentioned and used ONCE in ACOWAR, then we saw like two flashes of in this book? They're GONE now. GONE SO NESTA CAN SAVE HER ABUSIVE SISTER AND ABUSIVE HUSBAND WHO ABUSES THEM BOTH.

Nesta is just an Amren now. They both fought for their powers, and had to give them up to save people who didn't deserve it. Now they're anticlimactically trapped in powerless bodies.

Also, and I can't BELIEVE I didn't originally include this - do you know what else Nesta TRADED HER POWERS FOR?

I am so fucking SICK TO DEATH of the narrative that every woman needs a man and children to be happy. SJM clearly loves this because she's literally only keeping Amren and Nesta alive now to be sex objects to their partners and nothing else seeing as their POWERS WERE RIPPED AWAY FROM THEM, and now NESTA TRADED THOSE POWERS TO HAVE A BABY SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW SHE WANTS? Nesta does NOT strike me as a motherly type. She's the wine aunt, she and Cassian are the couple that go on holiday a lot and and babysit their nieces and nephews, but nope. Nesta HAS to have children.

The Feysand baby is called Nyx. That's just so underwhelming, you go from these huge, multiple syllable names like Amarantha and Morrigan and Lucien to Nyx? I get it's supposed to be unique but it's not even meaningful. It's just more shit-flavoured icing on the hAHa nIgHt uWu cake. I prefer Renesmée.

Nesta is wrong somehow. She says she's sorry as she's saving them. FOR WHAT? For being a little rude to Feyre as all sisters are? And rightfully hating your sister's abuser?

Oh yeah, remember in ACOWAR when Nesta took care of a comatose, starving Elain for months? Elain is randomly okay now because she takes care of her mental health the stereotypical way of baking cakes, and not drinking and fucking, which she shames Netsa for.

Remember the slut shaming, demeaning comments that the whole iNnEr cIrClE made about Nesta? They all expect apologies from her. For some reason.

Nesta has done nothing wrong. She coped with her trauma and minded her business in her own ways, and she's expected to apologise to the people who control and emotionally abuse her.

Nothing that any of these characters did to Nesta is right. Nesta wasn't okay at the end, this wasn't Nesta's healing story. This is Nesta being shamed and degraded until she submits.

Oh I can't believe I forgot to write this in my first draft of this review, do you know how Nesta "overcomes" her grief about her Father's death and her conflicting feelings about him and his life and her guilt? When she visits his grave for the first time, she takes Nyx.

NYX.

She holds NYX up to the grave and talks about how it's his grandson.

GO AWAY YOU STUPID DEMON BABY THIS IS NOT YOUR BOOK.

Speaking of, it's revealed that Nesta was abused by her mother and grandmother in this book? Something we were all looking forward to is seeing more of the Archeron's mother seeing as Feyre was so young when she died, but... nope. She gets a few vague mentions, and this newly revealed abuse is entirely glossed over. Nesta was also actively groomed by an older man at 14. But SJM glosses over this because of course she does.

Finally, the bonus chapters.

My edition came with a bonus chapter from Feyre's POV. It was pointless and I hated it.

There's another bonus chapter from Azriel's POV. Once I'd finished this book, he was one of the few characters I still harboured a shred of respect for.

Then I read his bonus chapter.

This exists to purely objectify Elain.

Whether you ship Elain with Azriel, or Lucien, or neither, this chapter is disgusting. He thinks about her coming on his tounge, and other things simply just to please him.

He then dares to suggest that "the Cauldron picked wrong" in choosing Lucien as Elain's mate?

No Azriel, SJM picked RIGHT in not giving each Archeron sister a bAt bOy.

Rhysand does the only right thing he's ever done by telling Azriel to stay away from Elain, but then he has to ruin it by clarifying that it's only so they can manipulate and use Lucien more.

Oh, and Azriel wants to kill Lucien.

Need I remind you that Lucien respects Azriel? Lucien is another victim of the Night Court's needless, baseless torment, and Azriel is no exception.

Lucien stays well out of Elain's way because she makes it clear that she's not interested in a mate, but Azriel wants to kill him simply for being her mate.

Lucien has done nothing. And I mean literally NOTHING to warrant any of this treatment. From the bAt bOyS, from Feyre, from his family, from SJM, from the deluded part of this fandom that think he's done wrong. NOTHING.

All I liked about this book was the Lucien scenes (which is a given), ((although I hated the way everyone talks about him behind his back)), Nesta's relationship with the house, Emerie and Gwyn, the evidence that Gwynriel is endgame and subsequently Elucien, and the book love. Everything else was horrible. Oh, and Nesta hates Rhysand. I love that for her, because everyone else bows at his feet.

Oh yeah, when Nesta DARES suggest that Rhysand is an "arrogant, preening asshole" which I think is a compliment, Cassian can't take Rhys' cock out of his mouth for one second, and has to get mad at her for having an opinion. Don't even get me started on Azriel in that scene.

If each book after ACOTAR made me slowly give up, this book made me give up altogether. I cannot go on to support this victim-blaming, abuse-forgiving, misogynistic series. I've given up on SJM, and the only characters I care about anyone are Lucien, Nesta, Helion, and Tarquin. I'll continue to read this series to see if SJM redeems herself, but I'll be downloading them for free. I'm not giving this piece of shit any more of my money.

I hope we don't get the Lucien book. I don't want her to slaughter my fox in the way she slaughtered LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE.
