If you want to know what's up in Argentina:

Argentina has, historically, the right to public FREE quality university for all citizens and residents on its soil. This is considered a right and, although the system has its faults, it's considered the pillar of Argentina's middle professional class and a tool for upward mobility.

Last week, against HEAVY popular citizen support for the national public university system, Congress decided to support Javier Milei's veto that halts the public university's funding to inoperative levels.

Although the goverment and other friendly politicians assure this is about keeping numbers balanced, the money the Argentinian goverment gives to the system is less than 0,14% of the GDP. This is ideological. This is about less rights.

The President has claimed in interviews before and after his presidency that he considers free university "a degeneracy" and useless, although the Argentinian public university system has been lauded internationally (with high global rankings of UBA, Universidad de Cordoba, UNLP and Nobel prizes for its graduates) and is considered one of the tools for the working class's social mobility and the creation of Argentina's professional middle class.

The response to these measures that directly goes against the people's wishes have been instant.

There are now massive university takeovers all over the country, including very conservative areas and faculties with a population that refrains from these measures and have indeed voted for Milei's Libertarian party. Argentinian's Student Movement is historic, relentless and goes back to the 1918 Reform. It has coordinated and birthed several historical moments country-wise and was famously targeted by authoritarian regimes (like 1976's US-backed Military Dictatorship'a genocide and 1990s Neoliberalist Menem's policies).

The last two decades the movement has been disjointed, even fangless, but it seems Milei and the Congress's blatant corruption and disregard for what is considered a basic right has awakened a dormant beast.

Keep an eye on us, alright? Please.

Peter leaves the room, you can hear him talking to someone before he is to far away. There is an awkward silence at the table Steve glancing between where Peter used to be sitting to Tony and then to Bucky. After finishing a piece of bread Bucky wipes his hands and mouth with a napkin.

" Probably is gonna be busy... heard he released a new single the other day"

Tony and Steve perk up at that. Tony pulls out his phone, tapping away. A smile is on Steve's face. " That's great! I heard he was thinking about a new album, but it's been a moment since he released anything."

Tilting his phone up a projection of the music video appears. Peter walking bare foot in a dark room, skinny jeans and an overly large tshirt that says "I survived my trip to NYC" his hair unruly mess, he might have mascara on to make his lashes stand out a bit. A faint dusting of glitter on his cheeks. Before he starts to sing.

Tony just stares at the up close face of a teary eyed Peter singing, his face blank. Bucky watching intensely but glancing up at Tony. Steve looking sad as he over hears some of the words that he knows Tony had yelled at Peter in their last big fight before Peter left. Steve thinks Tony was trying to find an excuse to push Peter away; especially since he knew he cheated on him on a drunk night at the bar with Pepper. After the big fight a month later, they were close to reconciliation, but then Pepper announced the pregnancy. Peter didn't have to be a math wizard to add up the dates.

So 6 years ago he packed his bags for good. Tony was able to set this place up for him. Had Steve as his personal body guard for a few months after. Even now Steve visits Peter off and on. Steve getting Peter into tattoos- his favorite was the type writer font of 'Queens' just under one of his collar bone. Tony jealous of how close they got but he avoids Peter if he can and just keeps tabs on him from a distance.

Most people will probably think its about the party lifestyle he had at the start of his career. People knew he was seeing someone but the public never knew who. And Tony always made sure no one would find out. Had Peter dressing fashionably and made sure he had the right connections in the industry, but that was never Peter. With his geeky tee-shirt and big sweaters is what Peter longed to keep wearing. But he had to be " youthful" and "edgy" " carefree " Peter had wanted to slow down. He wanted to spend more time with Tony and be out. The big fight when Peter came out on TV as gay.

Being in the family... you won't get normal. The moments when they were safe in the penthouse in Manhattan. Curled up on the couch, whispering promises of tomorrow. In the beginning, it was clubs and back rooms. To make it seem like it was just a fling, it was not serious like it was plus it got Peter out in the clubs performing. Peter didn't want to be a dirty secret, but he was willing to push that aside. Take what he could get. But it wasn't enough.

After all the fights, they still cared for each other still. It's evident when they look at each other. They were in a good place now, they still didn't really talk, but they checked in on each other now.

Maybe, Steve thinks when he gets the chance he can explain the history of Tony and Peter to Bucky. How Tony discovered Peter when he was 16, brought him around the 'family' once he was 18 and the break up when Peter was 22. Or how Steve loved to escape and spend time with Peter and how one night at a bar they went a little to far....

🇦🇷 🚨 ARGENTINA INAUGURATING JAVIER MILIE AS NEW PRESIDENT SUNDAY, DECEMBER 10TH

Argentina, which has experienced three defaults in recent years and lives with inflation of 185%, is preparing on Sunday for the inauguration of a new president, Javier Miley, who is remembered by voters for his promises to pull the country out of the crisis.

The Libertarian economist-turned-politician promised to convert Argentina to dollars, cut public sector spending, carry out large-scale privatization, and remove restrictions on foreign trade.

In foreign policy, Miley intends to focus on the West, not wanting close rapprochement with BRICS. Moreover, the leaders of the United States and Israel will not even come to his inauguration.

Experts interviewed by RIA Novosti are skeptical about the prospects for the implementation of these promises, believing that the politician will have to reconsider his radical views taking into account realities:

▫️ a course towards rapprochement with the United States will not bring economic benefits to Argentina: everything that Argentina supplies to the world market is supplied by the United States itself.

▫️In foreign policy, priorities may be revised in the medium term, because Brazil and China (both BRICS countries) are key trading partners.

▫️The new president does not have a majority in parliament, he will have to negotiate and compromise.

▫️ Reduction of ministries may result in an unbearable burden for the budget due to the payment of compensation to officials.

Argentines protest as lawmakers debate Milei’s sweeping reform bill

Argentine police on Thursday dispersed rubber bullets for demonstrators gathered outside Congress as lawmakers debated the new president’s sweeping package of economic, social and political reforms, The News Lens reports.

The clashes between police and demonstrators came on the second day of an expected marathon debate on reform plans by libertarian and capitalist President Javier Milei.

Local TV stations broadcast police firing rubber bullets and water cannons at hundreds of demonstrators opposed to the reform package. Members of the opposition at one point ran out of the building to watch and condemn the police action, but then returned to their seats and the debate resumed. Leftist lawmaker Mariano Del Cano said:

We cannot hold a session under these circumstances.

What's interesting is that democracy is sometimes judged from outcomes rather than processes, which makes it intriguing on where it goes next.

As for my political awakening, I was aware of the Iraq War, and knew of the 2008 Election. The Arab Spring is where it really started rolling.
