What l want for s5 is a parallel to the van scene + that heart-to-heart scene in Willâs room where this time, Will and Mike are talking in Mikeâs room and Will off-handedly mentions that since his house got raided so all the art he made last year (we all know itâs 6 months but these two are so dramatic-) is probably gone by now and thatâs a shame, and then Mike goes âCan I show you something?â and pulls out a binder of all the art Will had given him over the years, and Will just flips through it in shock but heâs smiling with every page he turns and Mike watches Will with a soft smile of his own too and then they share a look but before they can talk they get interrupted-
#tender emotional music out of all things starts playing in the bg again#and the camera comes closer to focus on the boys as each second passes#would it be too much to ask for them to be âcoincidentallyâ positioned in front of Mikeâs open closet#byler#look the idea of Mike having a bundle of letters he never sent to Will is nice and all#but l want solid proof of the art binderâs existence pls-

Your new show was invited to present at Comic Con this year and you were over the moon. You were already planning to go to Comic Con, since Harry would be there with Tom, but now you got to be featured as well. You hadnât seen Harry in way too long. You and Tom had filmed together in Atlanta, becoming fast friends. After he had introduced you to Harry, you guys hit it off immediately, quickly becoming a couple.
The distance had been pretty hard on the both of you, but you were still going strong after two years. You and Harry made your relationship public just a week before Comic Con, knowing that you wouldnât be able to keep your hands off each other once you reunited. You posted a casual, âHappy two years,â and a cute picture, keeping it short and sweet, mimicking Harrison and Grace. Harry on the other hand seized the opportunity and posted, âTwo years. Gotcha beat Haz and Grace,â making sure to tag them both. Luckily, they found it funny and you all laughed it off.
You both had gotten more positive messages than you were expecting, but quite a bit of hate as well. You expected to get some, but didnât really think people would be sending as much to Harry as they were. You felt really bad about it, but he reassured you over and over that he was fine. The absolute last thing you were prepared for, was how much hate he was getting because the fans were shipping you with Tom instead.
The boys got in last night and Harry called you immediately upon leaving the airport. He texted you again as they were pulling into the hotel and you bolted down the stairs. You found them at the front desk, checking in together and Harry was just taking a room key.
He turned around, spotting you standing by the staircase. His face broke into a giant smile, his eyes lighting up at your presence. You skipped across the room, jumping into his arms immediately as he dropped his bag, his other hand still holding his phone and key as he wrapped it around your waist.
âHey, Red,â you greeted him quietly in his ear as you snuggled into his neck.
He rubbed his face deeper into your hair, âhi, darling,â he whispered back.
You pulled back slightly, arms still latched around his neck, and pulled him into a deep kiss. You were glad that youâd posted together because you wouldnât have been able to hold back.
When you pulled away, you saw some fans taking pictures scattered across the lobby, but you werenât all that worried about it. Youâd kind of expected it, and most of their focus was on Tom anyway.
âAlright, you lot, câmon,â Tom called, picking up his bag and heading towards the elevators.
You unwrapped from Harry, taking his camera bag over your shoulder as he grabbed his larger suitcase.
âAlright, love, so Iâm in 615 with Harrison,â he told you as you waited for the elevator, âyou can drop by whenever you like, alright?â
âOh,â you answered in a small voice, smile dropping just slightly.
âWhat is it?â he asked gently.
âWell, I sorta thought maybe you could stay with me...â
âOh, well, I didnât know what you wanted to do, so I just got this one with Harrison. Itâs connected to Tomâs too, but uh, Iâd rather be with you if thatâs what you want,â he said with a smile.
âHey!â Harrison called turning around.
âSorry bro, but do you really blame me?â Harry said, smirking.
âWhatever, div,â Harrison turned back around, climbing into the elevator behind Tom.
âOkay, weâre in 710,â you told him, as well as Tom and Harrison, passing Harry your second key.
âMaybe I should write the numbers on them so I donât get âem mixed up,â Harry laughed.
You giggled back, looping your arm around his wrist.
~~~~~
Waking up next to Harry was your favorite thing in the world; you loved feeling his arm carelessly thrown over you and his legs tangled with yours. You loved seeing his sleepy morning smile and crazy bed head curls. You loved hearing his raspy morning voice and his grumbles as he awoke. Youâd never get enough of it or him.
You rolled over this morning to find his eyes already on you; you smiled gently, bringing a hand up to push the curls off his forehead.
âMorning, baby,â he said, pulling you closer.
âMmm, hi,â you whispered.
âWish we could stay like this forever,â he said, leaning forward to kiss along your jawline.
You giggled as his hair brushed over your face, âunfortunately, we both have things to do.â
âMmm yeah, stupid work,â he grunted, tucking into your neck, pressing a few kisses to your skin before mumbling, âstupid Tom.â
You laughed loudly at that, knowing he was just joking and he didnât really think badly of his brother.
You giggled again, pulling his head up to kiss him for real. He held your kiss for a moment, before pulling away. He brushed his fingers against your skin under your shirt, just watching you for a moment. You giggled under his intense gaze.
âWhat time are your panels, darling?â he questioned gently.
You rattled off what you could remember before asking, âwhy?â
âWell I wanna come to as many as I can oâcourse! Maybe bring the guys with me just for fun.â
âMmkay,â you giggled, before pulling him in for a few more slow kisses.
Before you knew it, your alarm was going off, âhave to get up and get ready,â you said sadly.
âMe too. Was supposed to be at Tomâs half an hour ago,â he chuckled.
You slapped his chest lightly before rolling out of bed to get ready for the day.
He chuckled deeply, watching you fiddling around and getting your stuff together for a second before getting out of bed to do the same.
~~~~~
You werenât really expecting anyone to bring Harry up today in your panel, but of course, three questions in, someone said something.
âHi, um, my question is for Y/N,â the fan said timidly into the microphone.
âHey, darling!â you cheered with a big smile, âwhatâs up?â
âUm, well I saw you posted a happy two years with Harry, and I was wondering why you picked him instead of Tom?â
Your face dropped instantly, lips curling down and eyes losing their sparkle. You stared blankly at the fan before asking, âare you serious?â in a low voice.
The fan just looked back at you, nodding only the slightest bit.
You took a deep breath, glancing at the ceiling before opening your mouth. You opened and closed it a few times, trying to figure out how to handle the situation.
âI know that the smart thing to do here would be to not answer that question, but Iâm going to,â you breathed, âIâm going to answer it once and thatâs that,â you said finally. âLet me start with this: I hate that question because it sounds like âwhyâd you settle for Harry when you could have had Tom?ââ you paused, âit makes it seem like Harry is less than Tom and that is absolutely not true at all,â you took a break there, breathing deeply.
You noticed fans were beginning to chatter in the audience, pointing at the boys sitting in the front row. You noticed the look on Harryâs face and after that, all you could see was red.
âI donât need you to point at them, guys, I know theyâre there,â you spoke tenderly into the mic, chuckling a little bit so as not to scream.
You continued your answer, speaking slowly, âTom and Harry are not one-in-the-same. Theyâre not interchangeable. They are two completely different people. Harry offers me things that no one else in the world ever could. Heâs kind and smart and beautiful and confident and genuine and hardworking and so, so incredibly talented and one of the absolute greatest people you could ever surround yourself with,â your voice started to falter as you got choked up, almost crying from anger, âand not that Tom isnât all of those things, but heâs not my Harry. Tom is great and one of my best friends in the world and Iâm so grateful for that, but... I love Harry so much that it hurts,â
You took another break, glancing at the ceiling again to try and keep yourself from losing it, âand if anyone puts him down in front of me again, Iâm absolutely going to lose my shit. SoâŠâ you trailed off, chuckling again, âso, in conclusion, theyâre very different and while Tom is great, Harry is the best. Next question, please.â
You turned to face the fan on the other side of the audience, placing your mic in your lap and tossing your hair behind your shoulder. You took a deep breath, shaking off your anger, and looking at Harry in the audience again. His happy expression had returned now, his eyes brightening and a very small smile gracing his features. You gave him a tight lipped smile back mouthing, âI love you,â to him quickly.
He mouthed, âI love you more,â back, making your smile grow even wider.

a/n: this scenario has been stuck in my head for weeks, I think I needed to write it down to get it out of my brain! anyway, hope this is decent considering itâs my great comeback to writing, do give me some feedback! â€ïž
✠ă»ă»ă»ă»ă» âŸ
You meet Haechan at a party a few months ago. You two were getting along just fine but the alcohol involved in the night led you to a random room in the house. Clothes came off, bodies collided and waves of pleasure filled the air. You didnât run into him until a few days later and, although you tried to avoid an awkward conversation about what happened, he came forward and told you he had a good time, he was not looking for a relationship at the moment but if you were interested you could occasionally get together and have a do over. Honestly you werenât all that interested in dealing with the hardships of a relationship either and it would be nice to have a go to when you needed to get yourself off, so you agreed.
And thatâs how you found yourself sitting on his lap on his gaming chair at a Thursday night, legs spread and his hand inside your panties.
âCâmon babe, you know Iâm not letting you cum until you pass that level.â
Oh right, besides already being a mess as he pumped his fingers in and out of your very wet hole, you had your hands on his mouse and keyboard trying to pass a new game he discovered.
âPlease Haechan, Iâm almost thereâŠâ you moaned as you clenched around his fingers.
âThen keep playing,â he said as he slowed his pace, âthis level isnât even that hard.â
âIt is when youâre not fully concentratedâ you sighed in frustration as you tried to focus back in the game.
He moved you hair off your shoulder with his free-hand and started kissing your neck while still looking at the screen. The heat inside you was getting unbearable and you didnât know how much longer you could hold your orgasm in, until finallyâŠ
âI did it!â You almost screamed and he smiled against your neck.
âGood job babe, I guess I should keep my promise then.â He picked up the pace on his fingers again and circled his thumb in your clit.
âYes Haechan, pleaseâŠâ you moaned leaning back into his chest. It didnât take long for you to finally get your release, legs shaking as you clenched around his fingers. He kept touching you slowly as you road off your high and once your breath came back to normal you took his hand out of your panties and stood up from his lap.
âOk, your turnâ you said with a smirk as you kneeled between his legs under the table. You pulled the waistband of his sweats and boxers just enough to release his half hard length. âHave you started the game yet?â You looked up and saw him looking down at you taking his time licking your juices off his fingers.
âIâm gonna start now,â he said as he removed his fingers from his mouth, âdidnât want to cover my mouse with your delicious cum.â He winked at you and then looked at the screen.
You started licking along his length and then focus on the tip as your hand pumped the rest of his dick. Once he got even harder you took him in your mouth bobbing your head slowly to tease him a little like he did to you.
As you started working on him Haechan was getting ready to start a new level on the game, until a notification in the corner of the screen caught his attention.
Johnnyboiiiii: Hey dude, you know you left your camera on right?
Shit. Before you had come over to his place, Haechan had been playing and video chatting with two of his friends, Johnny and Jaehyun. By the time you arrived they had just left to buy some late night snacks and he was pretty sure he turned off the chatroom. Well apparently not.
HC: âŠ
HC: How long have you been watching?
Casper: When we arrived Y/N looked like she was cumming all over your lapâŠ
Casper: I didnât even know you were a thing!
HC: We arenât a thingâŠ
HC: But thatâs not the point, Y U STILL WATCHING!?
Johnnyboiiiii: Dude she just went under the table, we got interested in whatâs coming nextâŠ
Casper: Oh itâs gonna be Haechan, have you seen his face?
Only then Haechan realised he was bitting his lip as you still continued to bob your head up and down on his dick, clueless of the conversation he was having. But then he realised the fact that his friends were watching you two kinda turned him on and if they were so interested in the view he might as well give them a show.
HC: Mute your mics and enjoy.
Haechan grabbed his headset, placing it around his neck and turned his mic on.
âHey babeâŠâ he said while gently tapping your shoulder.
âWhatâs wrong?â You looked up as you freed your mouth.
âCome here,â he said as he pulled you up from under his desk. âI want you to ride me.â
âIs my mouth not enough to distract you?â You teased as you walked to his bedside table and opened a drawer. âWhat colour do you want?â
âPink.â He smirked to camera clearly teasing the valentine boy and his recently pink dyed hair.
You return with a pink condom in your hand and handed it to him as you took your panties off, thank god you decided to wear a dress today. Haechan then pulled you to his lap, facing him, your legs on each side of his. He opens the condom and rolls it down his length. You align yourself and slowly sit on his dick. It slides in easily has he had previously stretched you out with his fingers and you were already so wet again. You lean you head back moaning at the feeling of him inside you.
âI want you to moan loud for me, ok?â He said while kissing your neck that was now exposed in front of his face. âI want everybody to know who makes you feel really good.â You were still clueless that these lines were all to tease the two boys listening and watching, probably with their hands down their pants.
âYesâŠâ you moaned as your started bouncing up and down on his dick.
His hands went to your back pulling the hem of your dress over your butt. And for his friends to have an even better view he pushed his chair back a little bit so they could see the full picture.
âWait, what about the game?â You slowed your moves as you remembered he was supposed to be fighting against his orgasm as he played the game, just like you did.
âOh weâre playing a different game now, donât worry.â He attacked your neck again, sucking and bitting to win more moans from you. And thatâs exactly what you gave him picking up your pace riding him.
Between you sucking his dick, to now riding him in his chair and knowing there were people watching, Haechan wasnât sure how much longer he would last but for the sake of the show he wanted to make you cum again first. He moved one of his hands between your bodies and started rubbing circles on your clit.
âHaechan!â You moaned loudly at his touch, he knew that would push you closer to the edge.
âThatâs it baby, who fucks you really good?â He speed up his hand on you.
âYou doâŠâ You moaned.
âWho gives you the best orgasms?â
âYou doâŠâ You kept moaning.
âWho are you gonna cum for right now?â He felt you were really close so he leaned a little bit a whispered in your ear, âSay my name.â
âHaechan!â With that you reached your limit and almost screamed his name as you came all over him.
He kept your hips steady as he started to pound into you now, ridding off your high while chasing his own. With you clenching around his dick it didnât take him long to explode on the condom. You sit there for a while panting and leaving sloppy kisses in each others shoulders and neck.
After a while you leave a peck on his lips and get up to go to the bathroom to clean yourself up. As you get out of the room Haechan removes the condom, throwing it in the trash, and returns to the computer to check out the chat.
Casper: Oh shit, is he really doing this?
Johnnyboiiiii: Hey language!
Johnnyboiiiii: But damn, I think he isâŠ
Casper: What did he say?
Casper: Is he teasing me with that pink condom?
Johnnyboiiiii: hahahaha I canât with this guy!
Casper: Oh shit, he sure is giving us quite a viewâŠ
Johnnyboiiiii: Ok Iâll allow that one, sh*tâŠ
Casper: And he keeps teasing us!
Caster: Although I canât say Iâm mad at thisâŠ
Johnnyboiiiii: What a show off!
Johnnyboiiiii: I bet he never says those things when theyâre alone!
Casper: But she does sound good moaning like thatâŠ
Casper: Iâm considering changing my name to HaechanâŠ
Johnnyboiiiii: Donât you think you changed your name enough times already?
Johnnyboiiiii: Sheâs getting up, STOP TIPPING!
Haechan smiled at the comments, proud of his performance, but quickly played it cool as you got back into the room.
âHey.. come here.â He gestured for you to sit on his lap. âHave you ever thought about being watched?â
âWatched?â You were slightly confused with the question.
âYeah.. while we do⊠you know⊠what we just didâŠâ he hesitantly explained.
âOhâŠâ you thought for a second and then continued, âI guess Iâd have to think about it but it does sound kinda hotâŠâ
âCoolâŠâ Haechan felt a little relieved with your answer but he still thought you should know. âWell what if it already happened?â
âWhat?â You widened your eyes and turned to the computer seeing the red light right next to his camera. âWHO WAS WATCHING US!?â You almost screamed as two notifications showed up in the screen.
Johnnyboiiiii left the chat.
Casper left the chat.

Endgame Strategy
Character: Benny Watts
A/n: I said Iâd write for the hot chess people so I did. The timeline for this is kinda confusing but the desperation I had to write this made me simply not care.
âą
â(Y/n)!âÂ
A familiar voice pulled you from your current task of getting Bennyâs two ton apartment door shut. You barely got yourself inside before a pair of arms promptly wrapped around you.Â
You staggered backwards by the sudden weight, a noise between a wheeze and a laugh escaping you as you registered who it was.
âIf it isnât my favorite drama queen!â You pulled back to get a good luck at Beth, a big grin busting out on both of your faces.
âCome in,â She ushered you in, helping you take off your coat and asking you little questions as she lead you over to the sink.
You were a pretty established photographer for some big fashion companies, so you had been traveling with Cleo around Europe for the better half of a year. Youâd telephoned Benny as soon as all of your campaigns wrapped up and he instantly insisted you come to New York to make up for lost time.
You had just started to get a word in when you felt someone come up behind you and squeeze you abruptly, practically toppling you over. âLook what the cat dragged in!â
You looked over to see Benny already looking down at you with a grin before promptly ruffling up your hair. âHey stranger,â He grinned. You pushed him off and turned to give him a proper hug.Â
You noticed Arthur and Hilton lingering behind him and you pulled yourself from his hold to greet them as well.
âYou came at the perfect time,â Benny said, slinging an arm over your shoulder. âWe were just about to start.â
âWhat do you say, (Y/n)?â Hilton asked. âFinally gonna indulge us and play a game?â
You shoved his hands off of you and sent him a smile. âYou donât need some newbie slowing down your thunder,â You noticed Benny giving you the pleading look he always sent your way when you turned down playing chess. You swear you thought he knew how to deflate his eyes on purpose so he looked like a kicked puppy. âNo, I donât need your patronizing when I barely make it past five moves.â
Benny was an old childhood friend of yours, so you had known Arthur and Hilton for almost as long as he had. And they made it their personal life mission to rope into playing against one of them. But you were renowned for your patience and theyâd yet to wear you down.Â
Beth sent a small pout your way and handed you a glass of water. âOh please, now whoâs the drama queen. You were doing great when I was teaching you last time we saw each other.â
Bennyâs gaze shot up. âWhat?â
You scoffed at her, completely forget about your last encounter. âNow thatâs not fair, we were hardly playing. You had to show me where to move every five minutes.â
âWhen did you see each other?â Benny pushed.
You sighed, smoothing down your sweater. âWhen I was in Paris with Cleo, we only saw each other the one night and I was just bored and tipsy enough to let her show me.âÂ
She grinned at you, shoving her arm into you as she leant into your side. âI think you have lots of potential. I could make a grandmaster out of you, I know it.â
Bennyâs eyes followed you as you moved from your standing position to sit next to him on the sofa.
âYou never let me teach you how to play,â He murmured to you with a huff, causing a small tuft of his hair to fly upwards.
Benny had made several attempts to get you into the game he loved so dearly. And as one of the few constant people in his life he wanted you to be part of his world. But each time was met with a firm refusal on your part, insisting you wouldnât get it. Heâd try to pull every trick in the book, every charming smile and all the pretty words he knew to try and convince you to let him show you, but you were always indifferent to his charisma.Â
It annoyed the shit out of him.
Truth was you didnât want to risk embarrassing yourself in front of him. Youâd seen him play at almost every match he was ever in and it was almost scary how good he was. You could play a casual game and maybe boast a win or two, but playing against him wasnât something you think youâll ever do. Besides, give him the satisfaction of having your inevitable defeat over your head? Not in this lifetime.
You let out a light laugh, smiling at Beth as she moved to grab the other boards from Bennyâs alarming collection he kept stuffed in the closet. âYouâre too intimidating when you play, Iâd be distracted.â
Benny rolled his eyes, thinking of the stern look that permanently sets on Bethâs face. The woman who looks like sheâs three seconds away from going for your neck during her games but he was too intimidating.
You took a sip from your glass of water and lightly knocking over one of the knight pieces on the board in front of you. âI donât see why it matters, Iâll be beat regardless of whoâs playing.â
He frowned, heâd always wanted to play you. Not because he cared about winning but he just wanted you to see his skill firsthand. You didnât bat an eyelash at winnings anymore, and you never stuck around for his in-depth lectures about game theory with the other players. But he also knew you liked knowing the way things worked. And since chess was his bailiwick, Beth being the only other American player who could beat him, he knew youâd be impressed. At first he just thought you werenât interested, so knowing you were being taught by someone else stung twice-over.Â
You knew something was wrong when he didnât send a clever remark back your way. Benny liked to think he was this cool and collected character, but really he could be quite the prima donna. Knowing him for as long as you did made him an open book, you could almost always know what he was thinking. Â
âDonât be such a baby, Bens.â You grinned, leaning over to tap the end of his nose, something you always did to irritate him. âShe crushed me anyways.â
âYouâd win if you let me teach you.â He argued, looking at you pointedly.Â
âI donât need to win, thatâs your job,â You leaned into him, trying to stroke his ego to get him to drop the subject.Â
Bennyâs ears perked up and he was about to go into of his grand self-assured lectures when Beth interrupted him, promptly placing the boxes of chess boards on the table in front of him.
âI dunno, (Y/n),â Beth gloated, passing a box to Hilton. âI think heâs losing his touch, last time we played I damn near emptied his wallet.â
That got your attention, and you sat up with a laugh. âYouâre kidding? In speed chess?â Your cackles only grew when she gave a proud nod. âI canât believe I missed it!â
Benny scoffed, pushing away from you to help set up the boards. âYou hardly missed anything-â
âShe kicked his ass, ,â Arthur chuckled, loosening the cap on his beer bottle. âSaid sheâd kick him the crotch too when he tried to argue with her.â
You raised your glass to Beth in commencement. âI knew there was a reason I liked you so much.â
âAnother simultaneous?â Beth asked, noticing they were moving the boards onto the floor, she turned back to you. âHave you ever seen once of these?â
You shook your head dramatically, moving from your place on the sofa to the floor so you could sit right next to the action. âNope! I mean I know what they are, but Iâve never actually seen one.â
She smirked, placing the clock at every board while the boys situated the pieces. âWell, youâre in for a treat, these are my specialty.â
You leaned forward, placing your elbows on your knees so could you watch every move. The speed of the game was something you had long gotten used to, but it never was any less impressive. You donât know how anyoneâs brain could go that fast, but watching the pieces fly around the board completely fascinated you.Â
Beth really was everything the chess magazines said she was and maybe even more amazing in person. You found it hard to pull your gaze away from her hand, watching as she completely tore through the three boys pieces. Hilton and Arthur were the first to lose, knocking over there kings.
You got ready to settle in while she took on Benny, but not even a few moments later you watched him grimace and reluctantly fish his wallet from his pockets.Â
âWow,â You breathed out, looking over at Beth with a gaze that could only be described as positively starstruck. âI mean I knew you were good, but I donât think Iâve ever seen anything like that.â
Beth felt her face get a little warm, not used to such straight-forward praise. At least not since she was a child prodigy. She reached her hand up to brush her hair out of her eyes, and pulled her gaze away from you.
âI can do it again.â
Benny felt his eyebrow twitch, he was used to your praise being directed at him for the most part. You had grown up with him constantly talking about and challenging others to play chess. And when he started to make a name for himself heâd taken you along with him. Before your work took off, you had more time to see his games in person. But, even when you couldnât physically be there, you always called when you saw the results in Chess Review or tuned in to one of the broadcasted matches.
He was the best in the States for a long time, so you had become especially hard to impress. He knew Beth was better him than by miles, but to finally have his title of best chess player you knew taken away made him feel scratchy.Â
But he scoffed, straightening his back to try and get his focus back. âNot if I have anything to say about it, Harmon.âÂ
And so for about three more games, she absolutely crushed the three boys. You got closer to the boards each time, admiring Bethâs superhuman skill. It made you feel a little sting of pride, the girl was showing up three of most arrogant and skilled players you knew.Â
âGod,â You leaned back onto your elbows, sniffling a giggle when. âI wouldâve given any amount of money to be here to see the faces on these boys when you did this the first time.â
Beth smirked, rounding up the pieces to put them away in their cases. âMe too, we couldâve gotten it all on camera.âÂ
You groaned. âSuch a missed opportunity.â
You lolled your head over and saw Benny staring intently at the board, a deep frown on his face. You smiled, scooting over so you could lean all your weight against him. âDonât look so sad, Bens. Iâm sure you wouldâve gotten her eventually.â
He laughed, but it didnât reach his eyes. âThatâs what you used to tell all the sorry losers I used to beat.â
You closed your eyes, settling into his side and sighing at his warmth. âYouâre not a sorry loser. Youâre the best chess player I know.â
âStill?â
âHey now, I didnât drag my ass to every one of your matches for decades for you to question my loyalty,â You teased, you opened your eyes and saw something on his wall. Nestled snug inside a frame was the first time he was on the cover of Chess Review.
âYou remember when I took that?â You nodded towards it.
Benny smiled properly, his eyes getting a familiar shimmer. âYes maâam, I told them I wouldnât be on the cover unless you got to take my photos,â He wrapped an arm around you. âCourse if I had known itâd make you a hot shot photographer who had to go away all the time I mightâve kept my mouth shut.â
You smiled, reaching up to flick his forehead. âIâve taken all your photos for decadesâ You made a sweeping notion with your hands to all the various magazines scattered around his apartment. âEven when we were kids, I think I earned my little adventures abroadâ
Benny gave you a look, one you couldnât quite place, but he kept your gaze for awhile. A small smile snuck up in the corner of his mouth before he looked down, strawberry blonde strands hiding him from your view.
âWell donât stay away so long next time, yeah? I missed you.â

Cheater III
Summary: You found out Max cheated on you part 3.
Warnings: angst and fluff by the end
Word count: 2.5k
Part 1 and Part 2
Cheating in a relationship is the saddest thing. It can kill the personality from the inside. Bring changes a lot mentally. These situations turn into you to be good or bad. Some may be helpful to be stronger.
It feels bad when our loved one cheated, cause we are well connected to our partners. We had a lot of plans for that person to spend a most valuable time of ours. When it isn't going to happen then it feels unsuccessful or bad. Expecting something from another person is common in humans. When it turns down we feel such pain, like stabbing with words, The words have the power to kill or to give life to the opponent's mind. The reason why people say 'think before you talk'.
True love doesn't involve multiple people... You knew that.
When you are in love with someone, you don't cheat and you're not talking about just finding others attractive. You just don't desire to be sexually intimate with other people when you are truly "in love" with one person. You're not talking about caring for someone or loving in general.
You're talking about the head over heels, you're soulmates, the stars have aligned and nobody else has what you have, a type of love that consumes your whole being and makes you want to give that person the world. And that includes giving them the greatest physical pleasure that they can possibly experience. Cheating takes that away from you and that is why it hurts.
The person you are in love with and desire, who you thought felt the same way is revealing to you that intimacy with you is meaningless when you thought it was special. They do not desire you in the same way that you desire them. They are not "in love" with you in the way that you thought. All of your love is in vain.
âWhy do we feel bad, even horrible, when our partner cheats on us?"
A trust, expectation, a promise was broken. This type of violation hits you closer to the heart because you have let that person through all your external defenses. Because you fear the loneliness that you are going to face. Nobody wants to end alone. When you put in so much for your relationship, you want it to last. But when your partner cheats you think that you would end alone, gradually realize this happens and life doesn't end here and someone else is going to come into your life.
Why do guys cheat on girls?
Both men and women cheat. In some cases, the reasons are simple: humans are animals with sex drives. We are biologically programmed to "spread our seeds." We have other instincts, such as loyalty, honesty, and guilt feelings. Those drives duke it out with lust in our brains. Sometimes, lust wins. It's more complicated than that because we tend to associate sex with so many other things: youth, freedom, adventure, personal attractiveness, you name it.
You know people make all sorts of excuses like, âI wasnât happy in my relationshipâ or âI didnât know what I was doingâ or âI donât find my partner attractive anymoreâ or âsomeone convinced me to do it.â Youâve heard these. But itâs funny to you.
A cheater can never have any excuse. They do not deserve to have that say after cheating on someone.
If you werenât happy in the relationship, then why didnât you break up first and had sex with someone else? Why didnât you say that you needed a break and then had sex? Also, how can someone even convince you to cheat on your partner? Itâs nonsense.
Some people will even go as far as to say that the other person made them feel loved, so they got swayed away. If you are not feeling loved by your partner and someone else is doing that job, then arenât you supposed to figure out your feelings first, maybe break up with your partner and then be with someone else? Thatâs common sense.
Nobody deserves to be cheated on. The blame is ALWAYS on the cheater. Nowadays people even try to justify cheaters. Itâs insane. To you, all the answers to âwhyâ are simply just excuses trying to justify their unacceptable behavior. You know, how they always say that a person who cheats once will cheat again.
Since you found out that Max cheated on you and until this moment, so many months have passed that you have the impression that you have started to heal. You were with a man who made you feel fulfilled, happy, and loved. There were days in a row when you didn't think about Max, but even when you thought, you had in mind only the beautiful moments. Like when, for your first date, he rented your entire favorite restaurant and he cooked for both of you, even though he didn't know how to cook more than just one egg. Or when you first visited him at a Grand Prix for the first time and he won and came to you and kissed you in front of all the cameras, telling everyone that you are his lucky talisman. Or, your favorite memory, when you were at his house after you met his family and heard him talking to his father about you. Sure, you didn't understand a word they said, but Victoria translated to you what was most important about that conversation: Max loves you so much and if he doesn't get to marry you, he'll never marry anyone else.
As dear as your last memory may be, it is also painful because it is like a slap in the face to the fact that there was a time in your life when you were in love and now you were no longer together.
When you told your family that you started seeing another man, more than 6 months after you and Max broke up, your mother asked you how you could get into a relationship so quickly. relationship.
To be honest, you weren't ready yet. You were damn scared but Stephen, your boyfriend now, went after you a lot and you decided that if you don't give him a chance now it will be many years before you think about going on a date with someone else. You knew it wasn't going to be a long relationship. You didn't have much in common with Stephen, but he was a good, sweet boy, and you needed someone who wouldn't make you hate all the men in the world.
"Look, I'm not saying you didn't go through something traumatic, but it's been almost a year since then and I think it's time to come and show everyone that you're not afraid of anyone or anything," says Anthony who called you on facetime one Sunday night after the race.
"But I'm afraid."
"Just shut up, no one needs to know. You just come here, you smile, you laugh, you act friendly with everyone and you're going to look like you're better of without him."
You sigh and get out of bed, and go to the kitchen to get a pill for your headache.
"But he will be there..."
"Okay, so? Who cares about him? I'll always be by your side, I promise he won't talk to you."
"Can I come with Stephen?"
"You know I can't stand him, Y/N. Take him with you to the next Grand Prix, I don't feel like seeing him now, okay?"
"I'll think about it."
You have decided, however, to go to the last Grand Prix of the season, in Abu Dhabi. No one but Anthony knew you were coming to the race.
You forgot what a busy atmosphere it was on Sunday. However, everyone who saw you came to you to talk a little and to tell you that you missed them. You smiled and answered that you missed them as well.
The road to Red Bull Racing was long and short at the same time.
"Do my eyes see well? Y/F/N Y/L/N!" says Christian Horner, who comes to you and hugs you.
You first see Sergio Perez who waves at you, happy to see you, then you see Max who comes from somewhere in the back. Had he just heard your name?
"Hey, guys! I'm so glad to see you again. I missed you all."
"And we missed you, Y/N!" Christian answers on behalf of all Red Bull Racing employees. "Welcome home."
You giggle.
"Thank you."
In less than 10 minutes since you got there, Anthony broke his promise. He promised not to leave you alone so that Max could not come and talk to you.
"Hey," Max says softly, coming behind you.
You shivered at his voice, a voice you've dreamed of every night since you broke up. You turn to him and analyze his facial features. He was the way you remembered him, maybe even more handsome.
You look left and right for Anthony but you can't see him.
"Hey." You answer Max and your heart starts beating much harder.
"I'm so glad to see you... I missed you."
The desire to take him in your arms and kiss him was so strong that you felt dizzy. You couldn't focus on anything, not even a few words to say.
"Do you think that we... We could see each other after the race to... Talk?" he asks, moving his weight from one foot to the other.
"Okay," you say and regret it the next second.
"How stupid am I for wanting to get back together with Max after he cheated on me?" you asked Anthony.
"First of all, you're not stupid for wanting to get back with your boyfriend. Relationships are the most real things anyone can experience. We're growing while we're together. As we grow, we also go through many different behaviors in life. Behavior does not make that person. Behaviors come and go as we grow into who we are. No one is perfect. You cannot name one person you know to be 100% perfect, right?" you shake your head and he continues. "We all grow organically, and the best thing about being in a relationship is that you get to watch each other grow. You get to experience the person you care about to develop. Relationships are like walking through a door that you don't know what's on the other side. But you go through the door without any fear, doubt, or unbelief. Relationships are the livest-realest- life experience. He is a man. A man can only love once or twice. Just because Max has sex with a woman, doesn't mean he loves her. He just wanted to get his rocks off for a moment. When it is all said and done, he loves you. It may sound strange but just think of all the men you knew. Think about all the relationships you knew about. Think those who have been together for years on out. So, no you're not stupid for wanting to embrace your boyfriend's "only temporary behavior". You're smart for wanting to have the courage to walk through the next door. You're smart for being optimistic and knowing that things will get better with time. You realize the importance of maintaining a companion."
You blink several times.
"Why do I feel like you've practiced this speech in front of the mirror several times?"
He laughs and runs his arm over your shoulder.
"Maybe because that's what I did?"
You laugh and you hug him.
"Thank you for being my friend. So you're saying I should give Max another chance?"
"You don't have to give him a chance if you don't want to. But listen to your heart. Don't just do it because I'm saying so because you might regret it and you'll blame me. If you want to give him another chance, just do it. He's not the kind of man to cheat. I don't know what was on his mind when he did it with Kelly. But something tells me he regrets what he did and he will never cheat again."
"Hey, can we talk now?"
"Sure. Congrats on the win!"
"Yeah, thanks."
You both went to his room to talk. You were scared and your palms were sweating. You didn't want to start the conversation because you had different scenarios in mind, all different, depending on what Max would tell you the first time. You swallowed hard when you entered his room. The last time you were there, you two broke up.
âIâm truly sorry for hurting you.â he started saying after he closed the door behind you. "I care for you more than anything. Iâm deeply sorry for hurting you⊠Hurting you is the most painful thing I have ever done. With a bruised heart and a deflated ego, with a sad soul and a head hung low, I apologize to you. An apology is nothing to what Iâve done; but still, I know you have a forgiving and understanding heart and wonât let resentment destroy our love. I have shown you what an idiot I can be by making that mistake. Now it is your turn to show me what a darling you can be by giving your anger a break. Without you I feel lonely, I never want to lose you in my life. I am sorry and Iâll work hard on changing my behavior. I know that I caused you a lot of pain. Whatever happens, remember that I am the guy, who will always be there for you in good and bad times. I know youâre angry now, but I want you to know that I didnât mean to hurt you. Iâm sorry for hurting you. I am ready to make amends. If I could, I would have wiped your memories about all the terrible things that I have caused you, but all I can do is to promise you that Iâll create only happy memories for you. I hope when you feel ready you can forgive me."
His words took you by surprise. You knew he would try to apologize, but in your mind, you weren't crying. You knew before you came to the room with him that you would forgive him.
"I forgive you. To be honest, I think I forgave you before we broke up but my ego was hurt and I couldn't forgive you so quickly. What you did was horrible and I hated you for so many months for making me feel so small and insignificant. But I love you. And I want to give ourselves another chance."

PART ONE . PART TWO . PART THREE . PART FOUR . PART FIVE . PART SIX
(also thank you again and again for the love and excitement for this series - crazy that thereâs only one part left now ah!)
âCome on! You must know something!â The leader of the trio yells as he punches you in the stomach, watching you curl into yourself, falling into the broken glass as you suppress a cry.
With a shaky breath, you force your eyes up to meet the three men. âI, I donât know anything!â You state the same thing youâve been telling them ever since they found you.
âSure you donât, Princess.â One of the others huffs before stepping forward, picking you up by your hair causing you yelp, feeling various cuts form across your exposed skin. âNow, shall we try that again?â
Weakly, you look across the room to see one of the monitors starting to power up again; FRIDAY is coming back online. âLike I said,â You force confidence, despite feeling your body giving in. âI donât know anything.â
âWrong answer, Princess.â The leader sighs and as soon as he raises his fist, you close your eyes before his impact hits.
*
âYou must have something, right?â Steve leans across the chair as Tony keeps his eyes glued to his phone, watching as FRIDAY powers back up and the security cameras begin to switch on, floor by floor.
Tony hums in response as he moves through the various rooms on each floor. âCome on, come on,â He mutters to himself, feeling Bucky watching him from across the jet.
âShe couldnât have left the lab, Tony, check the second floor.â Bruce calls out, still glued to his chair thinking about your question- âDo you think Iâm evil?â
Bucky listens as Tonyâs breathing halters upon finding the cameraâs now active on the second floor. His eyes scan across the screen, watching as the cameras move across each room until they activate in the lab youâre in- or were in.
âOh, kid.â Tony sighs, feeling his heart sink as he focuses on the screen seeing shattered glass covering the ground whilst you lie limply on top of it all.
âNo,â Bucky speaks up, having stalked over behind Tony. âno.â Bucky repeats himself, shaking his head. âSheâll be fine, she has to be.â
*
âAnything?â One of the men speaks through their comms, swearing under their breath in Russian whilst you sit upright on the broken glass under close watch by the other two agents. âWe have a hostage.â He states, looking over his shoulder to see you bruised and bloodied.
Yet, you spare a glance to one of the hidden cameras Tony warned you about when you first took on the job. One of the reasons why FRIDAYâs systems are so advanced is due to the cameras being barely visible to the naked eye. Theyâre fractions of dust that linger, capturing live footage without you knowing.
With the little might remaining in your system, you nod in hope someone somewhere might see it. Even if you donât make it out of here alive, maybe theyâll at least know what went down. Â
âHead down, Princess.â You feel a kick to your side, wincing at the repetitive action adding to the bruises forming crossing your skin.
âMy name is Y/n.â You spit out, defying everything your brain is telling you. âIâm not your Princess.â Lifting your head up, you smirk despite the cut on your lip tearing. âAnd you, youâre done for.â
A laugh escapes your lips as youâre forced back to the ground, a cocktail of cries and laughs leaving you as your surroundings begin to blur and your eyes roll into the back of your head.
âWhat did you do?!â You faintly hear the leader bark at the two men watching you as your eyes close, a familiar voice pulling you in and this time, you canât resist the need for an escape.
Sitting on the bench with your eyes remaining shut, you enjoy the breeze twirling through your hair and the laughter from children running along the docks; their giggles igniting another bout of heartache for something youâll never have.
You donât have to open your eyes to know who the clicking of heels along the sidewalk belongs to before she sits down beside you.
âThereâs still time to change your mind.â Peggy states, glancing down to notice you rolling your ring in your fingertips. âI just, I want to make sure you know what this means, the implications of this.â
âI know what Iâm doing.â You tell her sternly, slipping the diamond ring back on your ring finger. âIs he ready for me?â Glancing up, Peggy nods in response as you both head toward the car waiting for you.
âCome on then, Y/n.â Peggy canât hide the sorrow in her expression as you eagerly climb into the car. After all this time, you still canât be dissuaded from this decision.
As you arrive, youâre guided through the corridors that you know like the back of your hand. You smile at the scientists, their assistants and even the cleaners whom you know on a first-name basis.
âThere she is,â Howard claps his hands as you walk in, Peggy following behind you. âhow are you feeling?â He asks, guiding you past the lab filled with technicians, adding the finishing touches to the machine in question.
âIâm ready.â You respond, walking into a small office as Peggy closes the door, leaving the three of you to talk in private.
âWeâll run this as planned, alright? Youâll be woken up in six months to ensure the machine is fit for purpose and then a year, and so on.â Howard explains, and you nod along. âNo going back once youâre in there, kid.â Howard chuckles, catching sight of you playing with the diamond ring on your finger once again.
âHeâd be proud of you, Y/n.â Peggy comments, resting her hand on your shoulder as tears form in your eyes. âBoth of them would be.â
Sniffing quietly, you remove the ring from your finger and place it on the table, knowing itâll be placed with the rest of your personal belongings.
âWhat are we waiting for then?â You ask, pushing the chair back as Howard opens the door and silence ensues as you walk toward the machine.
You remain still beside Peggy as Howard runs over a few things with his team. âIâm doing the right thing, arenât I, Peggy?â Your lip trembles as you focus on the brunette.
Trying to hide the frown forming on her red lips, Peggy reaches out for your hand, giving it a light squeeze. âYou know I canât say whether it is right or wrong, Y/n.â Peggy admits. âBut, if this is what you want and need to do, then so be it.â She adds, seeing a hint of the Brooklyn boy she loved in you as you step forward, volunteering for the unknown.
âI will be brave.â You mutter to yourself as Howard motions for you. âThank you for everything, Peg.â
Standing in front of the machine, you watch as the metal door opens for you to step in. With a shaky breath, you lean back into the moulded space built for you.
Lying back, three scientists strap you down, asking countless times whether the straps are too tight or not, but none dare to look you in the eye.
âWell done, team.â Howard speaks up as the scientists back away, leaving you strapped in and now the reality of this is weighing heavy on your mind. âNow Y/n, you can back down, thereâs still time.â Howard explains as Peggy hovers behind him, her hands closed into each other.
âIâm good,â You assure him with a smile. âIâm doing this for those we all lost.â You admit.
âAlright then.â Howard nods. âSee you in six months, Y/n.â
Closing your eyes, you can hear muffled conversations between the team before an overwhelming cool breeze captures your ankles and works it way upwards.
âI will be brave. I will be brave, James.â You whisper with your last breath before passing out, unaware of how long it would be until you awoke once more.
*
âOkay, the Agents are inside the compound and thereâs a specialist team on their way to help Y/n.â Tony explains as he projects the footage from his phone for all the team to see.
Bucky remains glued to the projection, unable to take his eyes off your lifeless body as the three HYDRA agents talk amongst themselves, ignoring the slightest movements from you whilst their backs are turned.
âHelp is on its way, Buck.â Steve mutters to Bucky, hoping to incite some form of reaction, but Bucky doesnât respond. âY/n will be alright, we both know sheâs tougher than she looks.â Steve chuckles, picturing you chasing several bullies with a bin lid and a pocket knife you stole from Bucky after they gave Steve a split lip.
âI just,â Bucky uneasily raises his voice. âI canât lose her again, Steve.â
Resting his hand on Buckyâs shoulder, Steve holds back the sigh from his lips as he watches the footage, noticing your body twitching. âI donât think you will, look.â Steve motions and Bucky steps closer, eyeing the projection carefully.
âWhatâs happening?â Tony asks, looking up to the two soldiers as Buckyâs jaw clenches tightly.
âSheâs remembering something.â Bucky states. âCome on, doll. Please, wake up.â He pleads under his breath, wanting to see you open your eyes, to wake up and be alright.
*
Voices rise with aggression around you as you begin to gain consciousness, the ruckus from before is only getting worse.
âNo, we canât!â One of the men yells whilst the other carries on conversing in Russian, unaware that you've woken up.
Remaining on the ground, you try to control your breathing as snippets of what you saw and what you said replay in your mind.
âI,â You breathe out as your cheeks become damp once more with a mix of tears and blood.
âAnd this is Bucky.â Steve nods to the taller brunette with the suave smile etched across his lips.
âJames Barnes, but my friends call me Bucky.â Bucky steps forward, lifting your hand up and kisses it softly, never breaking eye contact from you despite the laugh of sheer disgust that left your lips.
âSo what do I get to call you?â You ask, now crossing your arms over your chest whilst Bucky hums, taking the sight of you and the beauty you radiate in.
âWell, thatâs up to you, doll.â He remarks with a wink before turning around, missing the sight of you rolling your eyes in response.
âYou cominâ Y/n?â Steve calls out as Bucky walks ahead, expecting you like all the other dames in the city to follow him and hang on to his every word.
Yet, you stand your ground. âNot today, Steve. Iâve got more important things to do than pretend to be James Barnesâ play toy.â
Bucky turns on his heels quickly. âOh?â He mutters, raising a brow to you as you simply nod. Unsure of himself, Bucky runs his fingers through his hair, combing his locks back as he tuts in bewilderment.
âNice to meet you, James.â You salute the man before turning around yourself, hiding the smile forming on your face.
âShe, she,â Bucky stutters over his words, a sight Steve struggles to fathom.
âCome on, Buck. Iâm sure youâll see her again real soon.â
âI remember.â You whisper, slowly reeling your hand to your mouth to hold back the snigger that dares to sound.
Echoes of footsteps rushing through the corridors pull you away from your own revelation as a series of Agents come into view with their guns are held up, ready to fire.
Within seconds, gunfire rings through your ears as you cover them, curling into yourself as the three men fall to the ground.
âY/n?â Someone speaks up, and slowly you uncoil yourself. âCan you stand?â
Unsure of your own voice, you shake your head. âWe need a medic, now!â Another calls out whilst you look over to the three men, crimson pooling around them.
âI, whereâs Bucky?â You slowly ask, looking up at the Agent before you who blankly stares at you. âWhere is he?â You repeat yourself.
The Agent rises to his feet and walks away whilst the medic rushes through, helping you onto a stretcher as you cry out in agony, whimpering for Bucky, your Bucky.
âSheâs asking for him, Maâam.â The Agent mutters to Maria Hill as they both stand by, watching as youâre taken toward the elevator, strapped into the stretcher.
Maria nods. âIâll get Fury. See to the jet.â She explains before taking her phone and calling the last liable person for this. âSubject 359 is conscious, and has questions.â She simply states.
âAnd where is she now?â Fury asks through the line.
âHeading to the med bay. She was in bad shape by the time we found her.â Maria explains, passing by the bloodied shards of glass you fell into. âTheyâre all going to have questions, Nick.â
âI know,â Fury huffs. âand I guess itâs about damn time we answer them.â

Hi! How are you?
First I wanted to say that I love your writing and I wanted to ask you if you could write something about Tom and maybe the boys reacting to the 34+35 remix mv please? It's okay if you can't
Thanks and have a good day or night đ
love youu <3
requests are open
â
âDidnât Doja leak her verse a few months ago?â
Youâre seated on a loveseat facing a large TV thatâs planted on the wall. Harrison and Harry have taken the couch, Tuwaine sitting in an armchair after bringing out a few beers. Tom is rubbing the back of your hand and your knuckles with his thumb.
Itâs release night. Again.
Tom wonât tell you why heâs so excited to see this music video, because itâs merely just another collaboration with powerful women. But, he loves your positions era. He loves how comfortable you are with being sexual in your music and in your videos. He also knows that the entirety of this video might just be you in lingerie, an opportunity he canât pass up.
Currently, youâre watching your Q&A countdown, which was pre-recorded with Tom in the room. Heâd nearly laughed a total of seven times during your takes. Needless to say, it took longer than expected to film.
âDid you go searching for leaked shit?â Harrison replies with a scoff, Harryâs eyes widening. Tuwaine and Tom gasp dramatically, and you try not to laugh at the encounter.
Itâs a rule now, to not go online to find leaked content. Last time it happened, Harrison had stayed up until three in the morning searching youtube to win a bet. Heâd lost miserably after the news broke that he cheated.
âNo! But it was all over my timelin-â
âYeah, sure.â Sam sneers at his twin, and they end up slapping each other on the arms. Tom chuckles deeply, the sound reverberating through the air, and you canât help but join him.
Before you know it, the video countdown has officially reached zero, and your voice rings through the air. A scene is displayed on the television: youâre laying on a lounge chair by the pool, and suddenly Doja and Meg are beside you too. Youâre wearing sexy clothes, and Tom just knows youâre powerful in this one too.
When the luggage carrier scene comes, you hear Harry gasp. You laugh at his expression, and you can tell heâs probably trying to focus on how the camera is moving and focusing, rather than the girls twerking.
âI cannot believe you actually got to sit on one of those things.â
âYeah,â Harry agrees with Tuwaine, rolling his eyes. âLast time we tried that, we got kicked out of the hotel.â
You blink in surprise, but laugh nonetheless.
âThis is- this is the scene from your Instagram post!â Tom cheers excitedly at the staircase scene where youâre laying there, just as you were in your pictures.
âYeah.â You laugh.
âI canât believe you got to work with the Megan thee Stallion.â Harrison gruffs in his seat as he watches her twerk again. You canât help but laugh, but you have a surprise for him, so you wonât tease him too much.
âIs somebody jealous?â Tom grins, shoving his shoulder jokinging. Harrison grumbles a ânoâ in response and the two of you birth laughter, loudly.
To everybodyâs surprise, Harry starts rapping with Doja Cat. Heâs watching her, of course, but heâs hitting every word with a rasp in his voice. Tomâs jaw drops below sea level, and you laugh, still impressed.
âDamn, Harry!â Tuwaine raises his glass of beer. âShow off.â
Just as the verse ends, your hand comes into the shot, and you hear Tomâs breath hitch. Youâre speaking into the call-machine, and the mention of baked Alaska makes him blush with a chuckle.
âI cannot believe you actually included that.â
âWhat was that?â Sam inquired.
âWe were in a restaurant,â You started sharing the story, and Tom groaned in response. âAnd I was talking to the waiter about baked Alaska, but I'd obviously forgotten what it was called. And Tom was so sure he knew, that he yelled âbaked Alabama.ââ When you finished the story, Tomâs head was in his hands in embarrassment.
Your attention is turned back to the TV when Tom gasps. Itâs the scene heâs most looked forward to: the bed & room service scene. Youâre eating licorice and dancing on the bed while Meg sings her part.
Harrison points at the TV in shock when he sees you sitting on the vintage television. Harryâs mouth drops wide open when he sees Meg in the marbled bathroom. Heâs internally freaking out, and externally getting redder by the second. You have a feeling him and Harrison are really big fans, so you make a mental reminder to give them their gifts later. Youâd gotten them personally signed records, courtesy of Meg of course.
âAww,â Tom pouts. âThat was so cute.â Heâs visibly softening as he watches you and Meg sing â34, 35 we can sixty nine it.â You giggle, head tilting in thought.
âReally?â
âYeah.â He smiles. âYouâre really pretty, yâknow.â Heâs cheeky but shy about the compliment, and you bring him closer for a goofy hug.
âThatâs a lot of champagne, you know.â Sam eyes you and the TV with a knowing look.
âYes, yes, thank you for hooking me up with it.â You give him credit. The chef of the family he is, so you were sure to jump at the opportunity for some local help. It made work during the pandemic a little easier.
âYeah yeah.â He smiles, waving you off. Youâre grateful, though, even if you play it off coolly.
âAnd thank you, mister.â You hug Tom tighter as his brows furrow.
âFor what?â
âFor telling me which set looked best.â You smirk at him, and he rolls his eyes.
âDonât out me like that.â
âGross.â Harry sticks his tongue out, sipping a beer in disgust at the couple.
âDonât âgrossâ me,â You sass him. âI have a present for you, but if youâre gonna be a brat about it-â
âNo, no, no, no.â He rushes out, setting his cup down as he leans forward. âWhatâd you get me?â
âWellâŠâ You reach behind you, grabbing a bag before two vinyls emerge. Theyâre the first and only copies, as you had not planned on releasing a vinyl copy for the remix. âTheyâre personally signed.â You carefully hand one to Harrison and one to Harry. Each has a message from both girls, and Harrison and Harry squeal in delight.
âWhereâs my present?â Tom pouts. What comes next only makes him grow redder.
âIâm wearing it.â You smile cheekily. âThink you can wait a few hours?â
His eyes go wide as he nods feverishly. Luckily, he doesnât have to wait too long.

--------------------------------------------------
âThis is the Saint Lukeâs Medical Hospital,â Sam announced as he zoomed in on the large building ahead of you four. You were slightly freaked out by the number of signs telling you that there was a guard dog around that you should beware of, but the boys did not seem to care that much.
âLook, thereâs a big fat boob on the top,â Jake whispered to the camera as he pointed to the brown dome shape that sat at the top of the building that also had a small cone on top of that, resulting in a breast shape.
âThereâs a big fat boob right here,â Colby giggled as he pointed to your chest. Your eyes widened and you stifled a laugh. You two made those kinds of jokes all the time, but he has never done it on camera.
âColby!â you shouted before chuckling at the joke. The other two boys laughed as well before continuing to walk forward.
âYouâre supposed to honk âem, right?â Jake asked as he made grabby hands, still going along with the boob joke. He then made a car honking noise with his mouth, causing you three to burst out in laughter.
âYes, Jake. Go do that. Your goal today is to get to the top and honk that boobie,â Sam influence his friend before Jake ran ahead and he made grabby hands towards the building.
âHow do we explain that to security if we get caught? Like what were you doing in here? Weâre trying to honk boobies,â Colby joked as you rolled your eyes, realizing you were stuck to explore this hospital with three immature idiots. A noise caught you all off guard and you looked to Colby as he looked off at the building.
âThatâs the dog,â Sam mumbled, looking in the same direction as Colby. You walked forward with the group to see the dog that sat behind the glass-paneled door. The dog barked with each step you guys got closer. You, Jake, and Sam backed away, but Colbyâs dog-loving heart got closer to talk to it.
âWeâre gonna come explore this hospital, okay? And weâre just going to look around for a second, alright? And then, weâre gonna leave, okay?â he told the pup in his talking to animals voice.
âWait, dude, if thereâs a dog right there, that means thereâs a person right next to it,â Sam warned.
âThereâs just a guy just listening to me say âWeâre just going to explore this hospitalâ,â Colby laughed at the thought as he walked away from the dog. You all went around the building to find the door that yâall saw earlier when checking the perimeter of the place. There was a door that was wide open, so you all figured that would be the best way to enter. Once you guys arrived at the door, Colby peeked his head in and began making kissy noises.
âWhat are you doing?â Sam asked his best friend.
âIâm just making sure the dog knows that weâre coming in,â he spoke with a giggle. âDude, wait. This is the part where we decide right now, do we wanna get bit by a dog or do we wanna be safe?â
âDid you bring the meat?â Sam asked Jake and Colby before the two pointed at each other.
âColbyâs got a fat ass. Bro, that dog has food for days. Ainât that right, y/n?â Jake asked you as you nodded your head confidently.
âWhy do I always have to go first?â Colby whined before grabbing the camera from Sam and walking forward. When he walked in the door, you all heard a click. You all walked away from the door to discuss the noise before deciding to go back.
âDude, the click was because this door is automatic,â you told them when Sam went in and waved his hand near the door.
âYeah, thatâs it,â Sam said as he popped back out. âBut it smells really bad. We should put on our masks in here.â
Colby handed you and Jake each a mask from Samâs backpack before you put on the infamous black mask. Now, it was finally time to go in. Sam led the pack as he filmed, you and Colby followed with joined hands, and Jake was the caboose as he looked around at everything.
âYou look adorable in your mask,â Colby bent down to whisper.
âYou can only see my eyes, you asshole,â you giggled.
âYeah, but I love your eyes.â You batted your eyelashes at the compliment before maintaining your focus ahead of you once more. Yâall made it to some stairs and made sure to take light and slow steps to lessen the risk of noise so the dog wonât find you. Once up the stairs, you went through a door that was already cracked open.
As you walked down the hallway with the guys, you realized how cool it was that you were doing. You had explored plenty of abandoned places with Colby, but they were all run down and broken and dirty. This place, however, still had running lights and literally felt like you were in a running hospital that had zero people in it.
You guys roamed the halls slowly as you tried to stay quiet. Eventually, you reached what looked like the hall where the patients lived. Everything was dead silent before Jake dropped something and it landed with a loud thud that bounced off the walls for anyone in the building to hear.
âJake!â you whisper shouted.
âSorry,â he mumbled, and you all moved to leave the room, not before he ran into something else and caused a ruckus. He muttered another apology and yâall left the room.
âListen, weâre gonna fucking die. Weâre gonna fucking die if yâall donât stop making fucking noise. Okay?â Colby whispered to Sam who was filming him. You let out a small giggle before Jake spoke.
âIt was my fault. Iâm sorry.â Moments later, he made yet another noise while shutting a door behind him. Sam and Jake split off one way down the hall while you and Colby went the other.
âYo, look at this,â Colby whispered when he knelt down to grab a sign that was laying on the floor. He turned around before showing it to you. It was a sign that told you which way the surgery recovery unit was and the stroke specialist unit too. âShould I keep this?â
âI donât see why not.â He did a small happy dance and kissed you on the cheek before walking back to Sam and Jake.
Next, yâall found the best part of the building. It still had chairs and beds and literally looked like an actual hospital. You found the waiting area where the room was lined with red chairs. The next room over had some beds in it, but that was it. The last room in the hall looked the best. It had beds, counters, cabinets, an overhead light that you could move around, but you guys couldnât stay long because a whistle was heard. So quickly, you four took a thumbnail picture before trying to leave. Of course, the boys got sidetracked when they saw a microphone that was linked to a speaker system.
âSir, your penis appointment is scheduled,â Jake whispered into the mic before Colby went next.
âCould we have Larry with the case of gonorrhea come to the front office please. Thank you.â
Then, they realized it was time to go. Yâall speed-walked the way you came, but when you guys reached a door, Colby accidentally pushed the handle and an alarm sounded went off.
âOh, shit. Shit. Shit. Shit,â Sam mumbled as speed walking turned into running. You four ran down the stairs and out of the building. Yâall walked slowly for a second to catch your breath and then took off again for the car. You threw open the back door and slipped in, leaving the door open so Jake could get in too. Colby placed the surgery sign next to you and got in the front. Right as Colby drove off, a police car passed by and turned into the hospital.
âThat was crazy,â you stated as your breathing finally calmed down.
âI kinda wanna explore more of it next time,â Jake told Sam. You looked at him with wide eyes. The one who caused most of the noise wanted to go back. He may not have tripped the alarm this time, but if there was going to be a next time, he definitely would be the one to do it. âI feel like we should do a part two.â
âI feel like we should do a part two to that,â Sam agreed as he looked to Colby. Jake and Sam kept encouraging the idea before Colby spoke up.
âYo, I donât think thatâs a good idea.â
âYou donât think thatâs a good idea?â Sam questioned.
âNo, we just barely got out of there.â Colby continued.
âAnd Jake canât stay quiet to save his life,â you added before Jake gasped.
âHey!â
âItâs true,â you told him with a smile.
âWhat if we bring dog treats?â Sam suggested.
âFor the police? Because the dog wasnât coming for us. It was the police,â you said to them.
âOkay, letâs think reasonably here,â Colby told Jake and Sam.
âWhat if we did? Like what if we got dog treats?â Jake imagined.
âNo,â Colby protested.
âDo you think theyâre trained not to care about anything?â Sam asked.
âYes!â Colby said with enthusiasm. You rolled your eyes in the backseat. Sam was supposed to be the smart one, but right now, he wasnât really showing that. âOkay, you really think a dog is gonna see you and start charging at you and youâre like âHey, hereâs a treat. Go get it,â and itâs just gonna go. Like, come on now.â
âThat stuff only happens in cartoons, Sam,â you told the blond.
âAlright, eighty-five thousand likes and weâll do it,â he said to the camera as he completely ignored what you and Colby had said which you two gave up and nodded along.
Later on when you all came back to the trap house, you and Colby laid in bed to think about what had happened.
âThat was crazy,â you started as your head hit his chest.
âI canât believe they thought we just needed some dog treats, and it would all be better.â
âI can believe that Jake would think that, but I thought Sam was smarter than that.â You both laughed before silence fell over you two.
âBut that place was really cool and pretty. Thanks for taking me,â you whispered.
âYouâre really cool and pretty,â Colby added in.
âYou are such a dork,â you giggled before kissing his lips.
âIâm your dork though.â
âYes, you are my dork.â

Paper Thin
Bede/Gloria (dressedinpinkshipping)
Bederia Week 2021: Day 6 - First Sleepover
Tags: Fluff, angst, grief/mourning
Words: 6,869
-
Bede took in the mix of Gym Leaders and League Staff with a sigh. The tension that had coiled tight in his stomach all day finally loosened and left him deflated. Heâd worked himself up for nothing. Gloria, the Champion of Galar, the very reason why his nerves had been alight and dancing uneasily in his chest for hours, wasn't even here.
âItâs just like her to skip out on something like this,â Bede muttered beneath his breath. She never did well in crowds, especially when the media was involved. In the late afternoon light filtering in from outside, Bede could see the reporters clambering to get closer to the windows, the doors, of Motostokeâs Gym like a flock of hungry Wingull ready to swoop on an unsuspecting victimâs lunch. The frenzy of reporters was enough to put him off, so he could hardly blame Gloria for not wanting to show up.
HoweverâŠ
âBut missing the opening ceremony rehearsal?â Another sigh. Even for Gloria, that was a new one. âSheâs the Champion, for Arceusâ sake. What sort of reputation does she think this is going to give her?â
Bede tsked. Nervous energy that had pestered him until this moment turned to frustration. At himself, for getting so worked up over seeing Gloria in the first place, and at Gloria herself for skipping the rehearsal. The air between them had been constantly shifting, leaving him confused and hopeful and wanting, yet unable to tell what, exactly, they were to each other. Heâd hoped to catch her here and at least have a brief conversation with her. Even an amicable greeting wouldâve sufficed. He needed something to ground himself back to reality. To remind himself that they were friends.
Merely friends. Nothing more.
Friends whoâd kissed three times-
No, no, no, no, no. He was not going to think about that again.
Bede flicked a hand through his hair with a huff. Sparks crackled through his chest, making his heart flutter and his cheeks begin to burn. Enough of that, he chastised himself. Now wasnât the time to be recalling how soft and warm her lips had felt against his, how adorable she looked when sheâd accidentally kissed him when he saw her last, her eyes widening and her faint gasp piercing his heart like a blazing arrow.
And oh, how sheâd melted under his touch when heâd kissed her, when sheâd let him kiss her, on that bench beside the lake. How it was everything heâd wanted and more, and how sheâd wanted it too-
Bede tore out of his memories with a sharp shake of his head. He had to stop doing that. Gloria had made it clear that the kiss theyâd shared hadnât meant anything, hadnât changed anything between them, and despite the steady thrum of longing in his heart, heâd said the same.
Heâd sealed his fate.
Not only that, but he vividly recalled the look on her face when heâd tried to press her as to why sheâd kissed him at the Gala, when sheâd explicitly told him sheâd never kiss anyone she wasnât dating. Absolute terror had flashed behind her eyes. Her voice had broken. She had broken, and pleaded with him not to ask her that. Bede had never seen her like that before. As if a single word from him would have shattered her into pieces. Heâd swallowed his question, let it drop, and knew he had to tread carefully from then on. Heâd pushed her too far. Taken that first kiss, and the ones that had followed - accidental or not - as a sign that the cage around Gloriaâs heart was beginning to crack.
But that cage, the walls that Gloria constructed around her heart, werenât ready to fall just yet. If they came down too soon, then so would she.
And Bede would never forgive himself for doing that to her.
No, he needed to keep himself, and his feelings for Gloria, in check. She didnât love him. If she realised how he felt towards her, he didnât know how she would react, but that it would certainly drive a wedge between them. Would she grow to fear him, as she feared love?
There wasnât any point to thinking about that now, not when he needed to focus on the task at hand. The rehearsal, from the order they were to walk out, to their positions on the pitch worked out to the nearest inch, and the expected interviews following. Bede sent a sardonic glance out the window.
âTheyâre in for a world of disappointment when they find out their Champion decided not to show up,â He said, a part of him relishing that moment.
âThey already know.â
Bede turned to Marnie with a slight frown. He hadnât noticed she was in earshot, and for the briefest second of panic, he wondered how much of his internal struggle she had seen. Marnieâs expression was unreadable, her teal-green eyes watching him.
âGloria never attends the rehearsal,â she said. âWasnât here last year either.â
Bede hadnât noticed. At this time last year, Gloria was nothing more than the Champion, a rival to beat, an inconsequential Trainer who had the title he longed for. Her non-appearance wouldnât have phased him in the slightest.
âI see.â Bede folded his arms and skipped his gaze elsewhere. âI wasnât aware of that.â
Marnieâs brows knit together. âShe didnât tell you?â
âTell me what?â
There was a hint of something in Marnieâs tone. Surprise, confusion, disbelief, he couldnât place it. Whatever it was, it made something twist in his gut, and that only worsened when Marnie didnât respond immediately. As if it was something she couldnât say.
âWhat is it?â
âNot sure if I should say,â Marnie eventually said, âI only heard about it âcause of Hop, ânâ even then he werenât that keen on tellinâ me.â
She looked away, her words hanging uneasily in the air. Bedeâs head spun.
âWhat happened? Is she okay?â He took a step towards Marnie, into her line of sight, and met the worry in her gaze. âWhereâs Gloria?â
Marnie looked conflicted. âCanât say. Sheâs not⊠well enough to be here,â she offered non-committedly, and folded her arms. âThe rest youâll hafta ask her yourself. If sheâs able to talk to ya, that is.â
Bedeâs heart plummeted into his stomach. Questions jumbled into knots on his tongue, his mind reeling, and before he could form a coherent sentence to try and coax more out of Marnie, a League Staff called her away, leaving him to deal with the implications of what sheâd told him.
The conclusions his mind came to made him feel ill. He swallowed thickly, mouth going dry, and dug out his phone. There was only one way to put his mind at ease, only one person who could give him the answers, and reassurance, he needed. He dialed Gloriaâs number and pressed the phone to his ear to drown out the thundering of his heart. Each ring seemed to ripple through his body. Seconds passed. Bede held his breath, vision going out of focus, the world blurring into a haze of colours.
A click.
âThe number you have dialed is not available, please-â
Bede whirled on his heels, shoved his phone into his pocket, and made for the doors. He didnât think, didnât stop to respond to the calls following him as he stormed out of the Gym and hailed the nearest Sky Taxi. Reporters, League Staff, the rapidfire of cameras clicking, it was all background noise.
He shrugged everything off, slammed the Sky Taxi door shut, and told the driver to head to Postwick. He didnât care what he looked like, fleeing the Gym part-way through rehearsal, the blood having drained from his face. He didnât care what rumours would start, nor about the pictures that would surely circulate across the internet in a flash. He didnât care what damage, if any, this would do to his reputation as an upstanding, conscientious Gym Leader.
Right now, it didnât matter. Nothing did. Not until he knew Gloria was safe, until he knew she was okay and confirmed that with his own eyes. The rest he would deal with later.
-
The sun had begun to set by the time Bede was met with silence at Gloriaâs house. He tried her number again, receiving the same automatic message that told him her phone was off. His heart sank deeper and deeper into his churning gut and, despite knocking on the door a half-dozen times already, he rapped his knuckles firmly to the wood again, before checking the windows. All was still behind the glass. No one was home.
Where is she?
He didnât want to think about what that meant, or to entertain any thoughts as to where else she could be. Bede marched down the path and made for Hopâs house. If she wasnât there- He quickened his pace, leaving that thought behind. Images, memories, flooded his mind as a familiar fear gnawed away at his heart.
Peering through frosted glass, hands gripping the windowsill. Unbalanced on his toes, craning and teetering for a glimpse of the outside world. A small flame of hope flickering in his chest. Faint, growing smaller every day. The same thought playing again and again in his mind.
Where is she?
Laughter piercing the silence. His name, followed by taunts, jeers, insults. Shame washing over him, shame and something more, something darker and colder and dousing that final flicker of hope. Hands released the wood. Clenched into fists, clenched tight, nails biting into flesh. The cold burn of rage.
The words his mother left him with faded into silence.
âBe a good boy and wait for me, alright?"
He snuffed out that flame himself. The first crack of his fist against a jaw sent a ripple of agony down his arm. Then another. And another. Faster, faster, faster, a roar tearing from his throat. The pain was worth it, even when returned onto him three-fold, even when his vision swam and he tasted blood, and when that blood mingled with tears and he saw stars, he knew that this was it. This was reality.
And she was never coming back.
Bede clenched his jaw, forced the past from his mind. Cold dread filled the hollow of his chest as he recalled the fear heâd felt, how it had frozen him in place, when Gloria had left him in the Wild Area as she ran into a wildfire. The smile sheâd given him, evoking memories of a face he could no longer recall. That same look. That same acceptance, forlorn yet warm.
No.
A burst of indignation flooded Bedeâs veins as he rounded the stone wall by Hopâs house.
Itâs not happening again.
He thumped his fist on the front door, heart in his throat.
I wonât let it happen again.
Movement inside. Bede swallowed thickly, his tongue twisting in his mouth, and couldnât stop himself the second the door opened.
âGloria-â her name fell from his lips as a gasp â-is Gloria here?â
Hopâs mother blinked for a moment, before recognition filled her eyes and she nodded, albeit confused.
âYouâre Bede, right?â she said, pursing her lips. âOne of Gloriaâs friends?â
Bede straightened. Desperation had gotten the better of him, his mild a jumble of memories and fear, and he quickly collected himself so as to not repeat that mistake.
âYes, I am,â he said, and cleared his throat. âI apologise for turning up unannounced. Iâm looking for Glora.â
Hopâs mother shifted uneasily. âSheâs here, butâŠâ She looked away, glancing towards the stairs, and Bedeâs stomach dropped. âWell, I suppose itâs better if you see for yourself. Sheâs upstairs with Hop.â
She stepped aside to let Bede in, and he nodded stiffly.
âThank you,â he said, and made for the stairs. He took them two at a time, and when heâd reached the landing, voices met his ears. He turned towards them and threw the door open. The scene before him stole the air from his lungs.
Whatever heâd been expecting to find, it wasnât this.
-
Gloria jolted her head up as the door to Hopâs room abruptly swung open. Bede, staring at her from the doorway with wide eyes, let out a heavy sigh. She stiffened in shock. Gloria quickly blinked to make sure no tears were left, though her red, puffy eyes were evidence enough that sheâd been crying on and off all day, and managed a smile to mask her panic.
âBede, what- what are you doing here?â she asked. Her heart clenched as tightly as her hands on her lap, threatening further tears. The breath she took shuddered. With Bedeâs eyes on her, she felt vulnerable. Paper thin- no, even worse than that. As if a simple breeze, a simple word from Bede, would topple her over.
For it to be Bede who found her today, of all people, was the worst.
Bede studied her for a second, though it felt like a lifetime. As if he could see everything she was desperately trying to hide.
âYou werenât at the rehearsal,â Bede said quietly. His expression, having been one of surprise and then relief, dropped. He knew. He could see sheâd been crying.
Gloria forced a sheepish laugh. Panic continued to rise like a creeping vine around her throat, and she couldnât swallow it down. Not like this, not with him here.
âI didnât think thatâd be an issue,â she said quickly, shooting a glance at Hop. âI called ahead to let them know I wouldnât be there.â
Hop noticed her silent cry for help, their eyes meeting briefly before he stood. âCome on, mate, thereâs no reason for you to-â
âI thought-â Bedeâs voice caught. Hop paused, about to usher Bede from the room. âI tried to call you,â he said, slower this time, and the unspoken hurt in his voice rippled through Gloria.
Sheâd worried him.
All because she was too weak to face the world.
âI⊠turned my phone off,â she admitted, staring into her lap. Her heart thrummed painfully. With guilt, for not saying anything to Bede, and with fear. With every second, she felt it build in her chest, pulsing like a deadly poison through her veins.
Why is he here? Why now?
Why Bede, of all people
Why today, of all days?
Her heart couldnât bear it. As much as she longed to see him, as much as her heart betrayed her, grief overwhelmed it. Swallowed it. Crushed everything into dust, into pain, into fear.
âI thought something had happened to you,â Bede said. He wasnât looking at her. âMarnie said⊠that you werenât well.â
Gloria couldnât stop herself from flinching with guilt. âIâŠâ The words wouldnât form. She couldnât speak. Couldnât explain. She met Hopâs gaze again.
âLook, we appreciate you coming to check up on her,â Hop began, âbut as you can see, Gloriaâs fine, soâŠâ He gestured to the door.
âI see,â Bede said flatly. He glanced from Hop to Gloria, eyes landing on her for an infinitesimal moment, not even a second, and it sent an ache through her heart. He turned his back to her, and she broke.
âWait-â
Tears blurred her vision. Her throat burned with everything she couldnât say. She was crumbling. Above the fear, the panic, the shame and grief, she didnât want him to leave.
âItâs alright,â Bede said. âI understand.â
No- her heart ached. You donât.
He moved to go.
âHop, please-â the hitch of her voice making Bede snap his head towards her, finally seeing her tears for the first time. âTell him,â she said. âPlease.â
âAre you sure?â Hopâs question was gentle. She palmed away her tears, pressing her hands to her eyes, and tried in vain to swallow her sniffle. All she could do was nod. âAlright.â
Hop gestured towards the door again, stopping Bede mid-step from moving any closer to Gloria. Bede paused, before allowing himself to be directed from the room. The door clicked shut, leaving Gloria in silence, and when she finally let out the breath sheâd been holding, her whole body shuddered with it.
-
Bede whirled to face Hop as the door shut behind them.
âWhat happened?â he asked point-blank, the sight of Gloria failing to fight back tears all too fresh in his mind.
Hop folded his arms uncomfortably. âNothing happened. Not today, at least. Gloriaâs fine.â
âShe didnât look fine.â
Hop took a breath and sighed. âYeah, I know.â He ran a hand through his hair restlessly before sending a glance back to his room. âThis time of year is always difficult for her.â
âWhy?â Bede had a feeling he knew, but asked anyway. He dreaded the confirmation of Hopâs answer when it came.
âTodayâs the anniversary of her dadâs death.â
Every fibre in Bedeâs body stiffened at once. He was painfully aware of what the expression on Gloraâs face meant now, when heâd burst into Hopâs room. Anything he could say fled his mind. How could he respond to that? Gloria had experienced a loss heâd never had the chance of going through himself. He knew grief, but not like that. Not in such a tangible manner.
âShe canât really be around people at the moment,â Hop continued. âSometimes sheâll be fine, but the next second itâll hit her again and sheâll break down. The rehearsalâs always held on this date, soâŠâ
Bede nodded slowly as Hopâs words fell into place. It made sense. Damnable, chilling sense. And all the while, at the rehearsal, heâd been frustrated and complaining about her nonappearance, and sheâd been grieving the death of her father. A heavy wave of shame crashed over him.
âSheâs alright, mate,â Hop said, nudging Bede with his elbow. âThis is just how she gets through it. I distract her for as long as possible, and let her cry it out when she needs to. Sheâll be alright.â
âI know.â
Except he didnât. He didnât know what she was going through, the level of pain and grief she was feeling, something heâd never understand.
âUmâŠâ
Bede blinked at Gloria, as she poked her head through the doorway. Their eyes met, a stab of pain needling Bedeâs heart, and Gloria quickly looked away.
âHop and I were going to head to my house to watch some movies,â she said. She opened the door fully, and stepped out into the hall. âSince youâre already here, I was wondering if you wanted to join us?â
It took a moment for Bede to gather his thoughts enough to answer. âAre you sure?â
Gloria nodded, managing a slight smile, and met his eyes again. Her tears were long gone, but a ghost of them remained in the weariness of her face and the shadows beneath her eyes. âOf course. I was⊠going to ask Marnie to come as well, since the rehearsalâs finished.â
Bede stiffened sheepishly. âItâs not actually over yet.â
âWhat?â Gloria gaped. âBut youâŠ? How come youâre here then?â
Hop struggled to cover up his smirk, muffling his laugh into a cough. âDude, seriously?â
Bede crossed his arms as a slash of heat burned across his cheeks, having been caught out by his own honesty. He fought back a scowl as Gloria stared at him.
âI⊠may have left early,â Bede managed to say without his voice cracking.
âWhat? Why? Was that- because of me?â Realisation hit Gloria all of a sudden, making her straighten. She stole a breath and Bede could have turned to cinders on the spot.
âWeâd already gone through everything once,â he said quickly. âThere was no point in me sticking around any longer.â
For a split second, Bede could have sworn Gloriaâs expression fell. Then she laughed, and he wondered if heâd been mistaken.
âYeah, those things tend to drag on endlessly, donât they?â She nodded and dug out her phone. âIâll see if Marnie wants to ditch too. Are you⊠going to join us?â Gloria tilted her head at Bede. âIf you donât have anything else on, that is?â
Bede swallowed. The way she cocked her head to the side made his heart swell, and he tore his eyes from her lest he begin to blush any harder than he already was. Any more blood rushing to his face and heâd surely get dizzy.
âI may as well,â he said, shrugging. As if his mind hadnât latched onto joining them the second sheâd asked. âSince Iâm already here.â
âGreat!â
Gloria lit up as he used the same phrase she had, and Bede coughed to clear his throat, keenly aware of the amused expression on Hopâs face as he watched this unfold. The way Gloria was acting, upbeat and smiling, if Bede hadnât witnessed her tears moments earlier, he wouldnât have suspected anything. Now, however, he could see how hard she was trying to hide her pain. It was there behind her eyes, in the second her laughter faded and her smile dropped. As they headed for Gloriaâs house, he spotted the moments when her attention drifted. When memories played in her mind, her eyes glazed over. She quietened. Then, as if on cue, Hop would say something, make a joke or wisecrack, throw his arm over her shoulder, and sheâd snap back to reality. Her smile would return.
Her smile, her laughter, was genuine and yet forced at the same time. Her enjoyment was real, and yet overdone. When Marnie arrived, Gloria embraced her for longer than usual, her smile brighter, her voice too upbeat. All signs of the grief Gloria wanted to forget.
Marnie met Hopâs eyes, and Bede witnessed a moment of understanding pass between them, and so Marnie acted as if nothing was up. As if Gloria was always this excitable, always this bubbly. She even let Gloria drag her by her hand into the lounge to dig through their movie collection, leaving Hop and Bede to get the snacks ready.
âIf Iâm in charge of snacks, theyâll all be gone before the movie stars,â Gloria said with a laugh.
âI think you mean youâll burn the house down instead,â Hop threw back. âRemember what happens when you try to make popcorn?â
Gloriaâs scoff was heard loud and clear from the lounge. âThat was one time!â
âAnd it was spectacular!â
Bede raised an eyebrow as he set the pot of popcorn kernels onto the stove, deciding not to comment on that himself.
-
It wasnât long before they were all crammed together on the couch, crisp packets open, popcorn in hand, passing a bag of sweets between them. Gloria curled her legs beneath her, wishing she could focus on the movie and not the press of Bedeâs arm against hers. The contact between them dug a cold knife into her chest, spreading ice through her veins until she went numb, an acute and burning reminder of why she wanted to stamp out her growing feelings for him. She didnât want to feel this pain ever again.
Gloria bit back tears, biting hard on her bottom lip as she refused to let herself cry. Not now, not here, not with Bede next to her. But, as always, the memories that flashed in her mind were all too clear, all too real.
Waiting, wondering, confused, as the afternoon turned into night and her father hadnât returned. A knock at the door. Running excitedly to answer it, finding a stranger in her fatherâs place. The crack of her motherâs voice. Hearing, but not understanding, what the officer was saying.
And the sound that tore from her motherâs throat. The sound of a heart breaking.
The movie turned into a blur of colours behind tears, and Gloria hurriedly blinked them away again. When the credits ran, they ordered food in, and she took that opportunity to flee to her room for a moment of silence. A moment alone. She leant against the door, hands clenched into fists, and took a shuddering breath. She would get through this. She would. Bedeâs presence here hadnât changed anything, she tried to remind herself. It was just Bede. Just a friend, just a movie, just another, ordinary day.
Except it wasnât.
And the heavy, gnawing ache in her heart reminded her that Bede was no longer just a friend. Not to her.
Gloria sucked in a deep breath and steeled herself. She wasnât going to give in. These feelings were hers, and she would control them. She had to. It was just another challenge for her to overcome. Another battle to win. Like any Pokemon battle, she had to calculate every move, had to size up her opponent and not back down. If she lost, sheâd try again. Harder, faster, until she finally came out on top. Avoiding Bede didnât work - sheâd already tried that, and it only made the longing in her heart worse. She had to find a different strategy. She had to adapt.
Failure wasnât an option here.
Gloria risked a glance at the alarm clock beside her bed and winced. It was that time again. Another detail she couldnât forget, sewn into her mind, her memories, from the day her world changed. As much as she wanted it, nothing could distract her from this. From reliving it again and again every year that passed. Tears came quickly. Her legs buckled, and she sank against the door as wave after wave of grief crashed over her and left her breathless. Through clenched teeth, she sobbed. Tears escaped around the palms of her hands that she pressed firmly to her eyes, blocking the world out. Grief and pain burned in her lungs. Holding her breath, forcing it down, to silence her wails. To stifle her cries.
And she crumbled into a heap on the floor.
It hadnât worked. The company of her friends, a great movie, all the snacks she could want, and it hadnât worked. It never did. Grief came after her like a vice, striking the second she let her guard down. Striking through her defences. It left her weak. Vulnerable. No matter how many years had passed, it always came for her.
A gentle knock on her bedroom door made Gloria stiffen.
âGloria? Hun?â her motherâs soft voice filtered through the door. âCan I come in? Iâve brought your food.â
Gloria couldnât respond beneath the crush of grief.
There was silence for a few seconds, before Gloriaâs mother said quietly, âItâs that time, isnât it?â
A sob escaped. Gloria curled into herself further. Doubling over. Pain reared up the hollow of her throat, but made no sound.
âCan I come in?â her mother asked again. âYou donât have to handle this by yourself. Iâm here too.â
Somehow, Gloria managed to draw an affirmative noise from her throat, and shifted enough away from the door so her mother could come inside. She held a container of take-away Kantonian food, and carefully knelt beside her daughter, placing the food to the side. Gloriaâs lips wobbled, her face caked in tears, and fell into her motherâs arms with a wail. All the grief sheâd been holding in, the agony sheâd buried, came forth at once in a torrent of heartache. She couldnât stop it. Even knowing her cries could be heard throughout the house, she could no longer keep it in. In the arms of her mother, she let it all out.
The pain, the grief, her fear and her weakness, how it felt like it was tearing her in two, as though her world was crumbling once again, she let it all out.
She clung to her mother and cried until she had no tears left to shed and her food went cold.
-
When Gloria emerged from her room with her mother, she hurried over to the microwave with her cold Kantonian take-away meal, and sheepishly focused on that instead of the overwhelming feeling of being watched. She knew Hop, Bede and Marnie were waiting for her, that theyâd heard her cries. She cleared her throat awkwardly. It was too quiet, and the gentle humming of the microwave made the silence coming from the lounge even more obvious.
âIs everyone staying the night?â Gloriaâs mother asked.
âI⊠I havenât asked yet.â Gloria tried to ignore the fluttering of her heart at the idea of Bede staying the night. Usually, after she and Hop binged a few movies, theyâd fall asleep on the couch or on mattresses on the floor, having talked late into the night or early morning.
âWould you two like to stay the night as well?â Gloriaâs mother called to the lounge, making Gloria flush. âWe have more than enough mattresses, and weâd love to have you stay.â
âMum!â
Her mother shrugged, grinning. âItâs easier for me to just ask them now, right?â
âThatâs not the point!â Gloria hissed.
âIâll hafta check with my brother, but Iâm keen,â Marnie said from the lounge.
Gloria swallowed, waiting. Her heart thumped harder in her chest, and she yanked her food from the microwave with more force than necessary.
âOf course Bedeâs going to say yes,â Hop called, vaulting over the back of the couch before Bede could protest. âIâll grab the mattresses!â
âLooks like my decision has been made for me,â Bede said and rolled his eyes, âbut⊠as long as Iâm not imposing on you, then I'll take you up on that offer.â
Gloriaâs mother smiled pointedly at her. âOf course youâre not imposing on us. Youâre very welcome to stay the night!â
Gloria shot a dark look at her mother, and at Hop as he passed her with two rolled up mattresses in his arms. Hop stuck his tongue out at her in return. Soon enough, the mattresses were spread out on the floor, a bundle of blankets and pillows strewn across them, and the movie-binging resumed. No one mentioned Gloriaâs prior absence. Everything carried on as if nothing had happened, and she silently thanked her friends for that. The heavy ache in her heart settled into its place once again, like a raging beast having exhausted itself, and finally calmed. It remained inside her, tempered for now. A pain she doubted sheâd ever be free from. At least, at this moment, she felt at ease. She felt safe.
Grief remained in her memories, slowly retreating from the marrow of her bones, and as she curled up on the couch again, her friends by her side, Gloria smiled. As the night wore on, conversation took over the movies. The TV continued playing without an audience. Even as hours passed and they had to stifle their yawns, no one suggested going to sleep. Topics jumped from one to another, from Hopâs research to the upcoming League Challenge, and how theyâd have less time to catch up once it began. At some point, Marnie moved to one of the mattresses on the floor. Hop sprawled across the now-free space, and was the first to fall asleep. Gloria clicked the TV off, plunging them into darkness.
âOh, wow, thatâs dark,â Gloria laughed. Their only source of light had been the TV once Gloriaâs mother went to bed and switched off the lights in the rest of the house. âDo you guys want me to turn a light on?â
âNah, âm good,â came from Marnie, somewhere on the floor. She sounded muffled, as if speaking through a pillow, and Gloria wondered if she was close to falling asleep.
âI havenât stayed up this late in ages,â Gloria said. She toned her voice down to a near-whisper. âIt always makes me feel like a kid again. Thereâs something special about staying up past midnight.â
âItâs not something I do regularly, Iâll admit.â Bedeâs voice sounded louder and closer than Gloria had expected, and she stopped herself from jumping in shock. In the darkness, she couldnât tell where he was. It made her heart skip, her pulse scattering.
She laughed, trying to hide her nerves. âHop and I used to stay up late all the time when we were younger,â she said quickly, keenly aware of the warmth of Bedeâs arm against hers, trying to keep the conversation flowing to distract herself. He hadnât moved, but somehow, he felt closer. âSometimes, weâd sneak out at night and find a paddock to stargaze in. We learnt very quickly to bring a blanket or two, the first night we almost froze to death!â
âThat definitely sounds like something you would do,â Bede said.
She heard the smile in his voice, and was suddenly glad that he couldnât see her as she flushed. Affronted by her own reaction to the sound of Bedeâs voice, she curled up tighter on the couch in defiance. Her insides bubbled and crawled at the same time. Enjoying yet despising the feeling. The contrasting emotions swirling within her fought against each other for dominance in her mind, and it left her drained and sapped of energy. She didnât know whether to relish or fear the way Bede managed to tug on her heart.
âHave you ever stayed up all night?â Gloria asked. She needed to fill the silence, to stop her mind, and heart, from wandering. All was quiet from the mattress on the floor, and she couldnât tell if Marnie had fallen asleep, or was just listening.
âA few times,â Bede admitted. âMostly after Iâd just taken over the Fairy Gym. Iâd work late into the night and before Iâd realised it, the sun was rising.â
Gloria snorted. âYou workaholic.â
âThatâs rich, coming from a slugabed.â Amusement softened his voice.
âSays you! At least I donât have grey hair!â
âItâs platinum-blond.â
Gloria suppressed a laugh. âSure it is. Thatâs why you fit right in at the Fairy Gym.â
âIâm wise beyond my years, something you could learn from.â
âAnd go grey before my twenties? No thanks!â
âWhoâs fault would that be, I wonder?â Bede said, his tone light. âI believe the greatest stressor in my life would be you at the moment. Haenât you already taken the blame for that?â
âYouâll go grey and no one would even notice!â Gloria snickered. âHow sad!â
âIâd rather overwork than put a Snorlax to shame. Or was it a rock?â
Gloria gave him a shove with her elbow. âA girl needs her beauty sleep!â
âThen Iâm not sure youâre sleeping enough for that-â
âHey!â Gloria scoffed.
Bedeâs stifled laugh set her heart skittering away in her chest. âI had to, that was too good to pass up.â
Gloria pouted even though Bede couldnât see her in the dark, her cheeks flushed hard enough to burn. His teasing always had this effect on her, stirring her blood and stealing the air from her lungs, leaving her mind blank.
âIf I had one of those pillows, Iâd throw it at you,â Gloria huffed.
âThat sounds like a threat.â
âYouâd better believe itâs a threat!â
âWow, Gloria,â Bede feigned disbelief, mirth coating his words, âI never knew you could be so violent.â
âJust you wait until I get my hands on a pillow.â
âIâm not stopping you.â
Gloria narrowed her eyes towards Bedeâs voice.
âUnless youâre too scared to loseâŠâ
The insinuation, the challenge, in his words made Gloria bristle. âOh, thatâs it!â Instead of fumbling in the dark for a pillow, she yanked the couch cushion out from behind her and thwacked Bede with it. She got a satisfying, and muffled, gasp of shock from him, right before the cushion was snatched from her hands.
âHey-â
A cushion to her face cut Gloria off. She swallowed her grumble, and wrenched out the cushion from behind Hop, using it as a shield before swinging it blindly at Bede. Hop made an incoherent noise that was lost under Gloriaâs squawk as she struggled to keep her cushion out of Bedeâs hands.
âThatâs cheating!â
âThere are no rules in pillow fights,â Bede said, before a loud thump followed, and his grip on Gloriaâs cushion slackened. She tugged it back, barely making out a second figure in the dark.
âMarnie?!â
âI got your back!â
âNow thatâs-â Bede was cut off by another thump â-definitely cheating!â
Gloria bit back her laugh. âThere are no rules in pillow fights!â She lifted her cushion to swing again, and it was snatched from her. âWhat-?â
âHa! Sneak attack!â Hop cried, smacking Gloria in the back with her cushion.
âItâs not a sneak attack if you announce it!â Gloria huffed at him. âNow give that back!â
âNever!â
Gloria raised her arms in time to block Hopâs blow, but the impact shoved her backwards enough for her to topple onto Bede. A split second later, a pillow whacked her in the face. Her cry was muffled by the pillow, and another blow came before she could right herself or pull herself off of Bede. He stiffened against her, a sharp gasp escaping him in the midst of the chaos.
âWait-â A cushion thumped into her as she scrambled to protest. âLet me get up-!â
In the dark, she couldnât tell how, exactly, she was positioned on top of Bede, except that his legs were definitely beneath her back. She tried and failed to push herself up in between blows, her hands fumbling to find purchase on something that wasnât Bedeâs thighs.
âHop!â Gloria hissed. She tried to swat away his next blow and ended up hitting Bedeâs face instead. âSorry!â
With nothing left to lose, and receiving blows from multiple directions, Gloria struck out with her foot. Hop groaned, and she took her chance. Pushing up off Bede, she snatched back her cushion from Hop, and smacked him in the face with it.
âLow blow!â Hop wheezed. âAgainst the rules!â
âThere are no rules in pillow fights!â Gloria, Marnie and Bede echoed each other.
âAlright, alright, alright!â he said hurriedly. âTruce! Iâm calling a truce!â
A light clicked on, blinding them all and making Gloria wince.
âI was wondering what was going on in here,â Gloriaâs mother said, staring at them by the lightswitch, dressed in pyjamas. âThis looks like an unsanctioned pillow fight to me.â
âOops.â Gloria grinned sheepishly, slowly lowering her cushion.
âGloria started it!â Hop said quickly.
âHey!â
Gloriaâs mother shook her head, though a smile remained on her face. âIâm glad youâre all having fun, but you do realise what the time is, donât you? I thought youâd at least try to get a few good hours of sleep.â
âI apologise for disturbing your sleep,â Bede said. Any amusement that mightâve been present on his face drained away and he slid the cushion in his arms back into place on the couch. âI wasnât aware of how loud we were being.â
Marnie shrunk, holding her pillow to her chest.
âOh, itâs no big deal,â Gloriaâs mother said. âWith Gloria and Hop, Iâm well and truly used to disturbances like these.â
âSorry, mum!â Gloria chimed. Despite taking multiple blows from cushions and pillows alike, she felt lighter. As if a weight had eased off her chest. When they settled into the darkness once more, cushions back in place on the couch, the slow pull of fatigue descended over Gloria, and the weight returned. All too quickly, the moment of laughter theyâd had vanished from her mind.
Silence, and darkness, took hold. The night wasnât over just yet. Not willing to give in to grief so easily, Gloria tried to fight it again. She led the conversation, keeping everyone talking until Hopâs steady breathing came from her left, and soon Marnie stopped replying. Gloriaâs heart sank, threatening to drag her back into memories, into pain. She shifted to keep her mind occupied, and accidentally bumped the side of her head against Bedeâs shoulder.
âOh! Sorry,â Gloria said, shuffling away from him. She curled up into a more comfortable position with her back to Hop, and nestled into the couch cushions. Her eyes drifted shut as she tried to block out the hollow ache building in her chest.
Bedeâs voice gently floated out of the darkness. âHow are you feeling?â
She didnât know how to answer that.
âYou donât need to say anything,â he continued. âJust⊠know that weâre here for you. Iâm sure Marnie would agree with me when I say that you can rely on us too. If, for whatever reason, you canât lean on Hop, you can always come to us.â
Gloria pressed her lips together to stop them trembling. Her throat tightened. Heat washed over her eyes. She wished to say something, to reply to Bede with more than just silence, but nothing came out. Instead, she reached for him. Fumbled in the dark for his arm, giving it the slightest squeeze, and without thinking, Gloria leant towards him and pressed her brow to his shoulder. Her heart clenched as Bede rested his hand over hers. She began to shake, to buckle, to break. Warmth enveloped her, an arm looped around her back to hold her close. In the silence, no words were needed. As Gloria shook, as her tears came without a sound, as she held Bedeâs hand so tightly she feared hurting him, they remained together.
And finally, after what seemed like endless tears, endless hours, the night gave way to dawn.
It was over.

Playing with the stars
What if Remus didnât get injured and was drafted to play for the Dallas Stars?
This is a very self indulgent piece cause happy-sportsman-Remus pretty much lives rent free in my brain.
Iâm fairly new to hockey and very much in love with it, but sorry in advance if thereâs anything not hockey-accurate!
Once again, thank you Jazzy @inloveoknutzy for beta-ing this! <3 Youâre amazing
And the beautiful world building and OCs belong to the amazing @lumosinlove Thank you so much for such a great story <3
CW: mentions of past abuse and mild spice.
Sirius Black was not a clumsy person. He was fearless, dedicated, precise and ruthless against his adversaries.
At least, thatâs how he usually behaved.
Today however, Sirius was just stepping on the ice, glancing around the rink, when his eyes landed on a familiar player on the other end and he slipped. Sirius cursed as he grabbed onto the boards to prevent a fall, mentally slapping himself. He was never like this. And he already knew the man would be there, so why was he even surprised? Of course he was there. They were facing his team after all.
It was the first game the Lions would play against the Dallas Stars this season, but Sirius wasnât sure if he was ready for it. Every game against the Stars was torture, and it had nothing to do with them being insanely good. Sirius liked that part actually, it meant he had to really push himself to beat them.
No, his problem came in the form of one very fit Remus Lupin.
Sirius hadnât actually, properly seen Remus play in a couple of months, and the impact was even greater because of that. He watched as Loops skated effortlessly on his half of the rink doing warm ups. The way his body moved as he glided through the ice, his muscles flexing underneath his uniform, and the glint in his eyes were enough to take Siriusâ breath away.
Of course, everyone knew who Remus was. First draft, golden boy, star rookie a few years back. Sirius was slightly embarrassed of how well acquainted he was with the manâs career. Heâd watched his every game since Loops had started playing for the NHL, and when he was alone in his house he would sometimes watch his old tapes, even though he would never admit that to anyone.
There was a loud clunk from one of the goalposts when Remus took a hard slap shot, and Sirius cursed again. His lithe body seemed to flow over the white surface, his stick an extension of his arm with how confidently he wielded it, and that fiercely joyful smile. Damn that smile. Sirius could only stare as Tyler Seguin went over and crashed into Remus, grabbing him into a headlock and saying something that sent the man laughing.
How the fuck was Sirius supposed to focus on the game with something so beautiful right there?
Shaking his head, Sirius went the other way with a frown etched on his face.Â
âWhat are you so grumpy about?â said Pots as he went past him.
âItâs nothing,â Sirius replied. He leaned over his knees and breathed slowly, before slapping hard on his thighs once and setting his eyes on the thing that mattered right then. The puck.
And if there were a pair of amber eyes following his movements from the other end of the rink at that exact moment, he didnât really notice.
The puck dropped not too long after and the game started. Sirius was first line and won the face off, swiftly passing the puck to Finn, who took it all the way to the Stars net where Dobby was ready for him. Before he could do anything else though, Loops cut his way and stole the puck from right under his feet. Sirius found himself staring in awe as Remus dribbled past one of their defensemen, before he snapped out of it and turned quickly to give chase.
âWhat the hell was that, Cap?â Pots shouted a few feet ahead of him. Sirius could almost hear the smirk in his tone.
He grumbled but did not lose sight of the puck in front of him. Those two seconds of distraction had been enough for Remus to reach their defensive zone; the way he teared up the ice was ridiculous. He took the shot, but it went straight into Kasey's glove.
Well, that was a way to kick start the game.
âYeah, Bliz!â Finn congratulated, tapping his helmet.
When it was time for the first change, Sirius sat down heavily as Dumoâs line went out. He clasped his hands together between his knees, with his head bowed down. He had to focus. This was no time to admire what a great player Loops was. Or how obscenely good he looked in his gear.
The Lions knew him to be the dedicated, focused captain of the team, not this silly mess of a man who couldnât take his eyes off another man from the opposite team. No, there was too much at stake for him to lose it like this. It didnât matter that his friends knew he was gay, he couldnât just flaunt it in front of the cameras and the wild crowd.Â
He owed it to his team to get it together. He started picking up the pace after that, slowly falling into that absolute-hockey headspace, but still he felt that he couldnât play his usual game. He kept getting slightly distracted for short periods of time, and by the end of the first period he felt incredibly frustrated with himself. It was mainly thanks to his teammatesâ skills that the score was still tied 0-0.
He made his way back to the locker room behind them all, admonishing his own behaviour and telling himself he would do better in the second part of the game. He was so focused on his internal rant that he barely noticed Dumo falling into step beside him, and jumped when he placed a hand on his shoulder.
There was a knowing smile on his face that Sirius wanted to wipe off, but his tone was kind as he spoke, albeit slightly teasing.
âMon fils, if you want to stare you have my full support, but perhaps we should focus on the game now, non?â
With that he chuckled, squeezed his shoulder and entered the locker room ahead of him.
Sirius took a second to stand outside the door, smiling at how simple and easy it was to talk about it with Dumo. The man was like family, a good kind of family. Heâd taken him in and protected him against Siriusâ own mother, heâd given him a real home. It was such a Dumo thing to do, talk about his biggest secret as if it was the most normal thing in the world; Sirius could only shake his head as he followed behind him.
âDamn that Lupin!â was the first thing he heard as he stepped in. Finn was in the middle of complaining while making big gestures with his hands, and Logan and Leo were staring at him with fond, amused smiles on their faces. âItâs like every time you turn around heâs there! Itâs insane how fast that man is.â
Talker came over then and slapped Sirius on the back.
âDonât feel too bad Cap. Heâs a beautiful man; sometimes I also find myself getting distracted by him.â At Siriusâ raised eyebrow, he added, âI stare with respect.â
He said it with a completely straight face, but Sirius saw the mirth dancing in his eyes. Some of the guys around laughed, adding a few comments of their own to the friendly banter. Sirius wasnât sure what heâd done to deserve such an amazing team. Although the last thing he needed right now was to keep on thinking about Remus, so he tuned them out until Coach came in to go over their strategy.
Second period started in a similar way than the first had, only the pressure had increased. The players were marking each other more tightly, the puck kept going from the Starsâ zone to the Lionâs, and there had been no shots on goal so far.
Halfway through, the whistle blew as one of the referees called an offside on Dallas, and both teams skated over for the face off. As Sirius was getting closer, Loops skated in his direction, locking eyes with him as he circled behind him, and Sirius had to will his body not to jump when Remus started talking with his mouth close to Siriusâ ear.
âI wonder what got the great Captain Sirius Black so distracted?â he said in a playful tone, and Sirius didnât have to look to know he was smiling.
He was taunting him, the bastard, and fuck if that didnât ignite a fire inside Siriusâ body.
âWorry about losing your own focus Lupin, or youâll end up biting the ice,â he replied in the same tone, and was rewarded with a soft chuckle.
If Remus wanted to play like that, Sirius would give him a performance to remember. It was a challenge, Sirius could feel his body thrumming with the adrenaline of it as he finally relaxed completely and played the way he was supposed to from the start.
Sirius managed to change the rhythm of the game with a fast pass he sent Potsâ way, that ended up being the first goal; then Logan scored another one right before the second intermission, setting the teamâs spirits on a high. But then Remus scored two incredibly gorgeous goals in the third period that left Sirius slightly light headed.
They were tied.
And right now Sirius was having an internal battle as well as the one going on by the boards, as he and Loops fought for the puck, their bodies close together and Remusâ witty chirps in the air. It was taking all of Siriusâ years of discipline to keep his head in the game.
âOh hey, you finally decided to come out to play?â Remus said as he bumped into him from behind and Sirius had to bite back a laugh, before spinning around and lightly sending Remus against the boards in retaliation.
âLook alive, Lupin!â
With barely two minutes left on the clock, Sirius managed to get the puck across to Talker, skated behind the net to position himself on the other side of the rink, shook off two defensemen as the puck headed his way again, and immediately whipped it into the goal, making the horn blare.
Screams and cheers erupted all over as the whole team crashed into him. They won, but it had been a very close call.
Nonetheless, it was over now and Sirius could go back to his hotel room and be alone for a bit. And probably watch some tape. The guys were going to grab food on the way, so Sirius excused himself to go lie down and whack himself for being such a klutz during the first half of the game. He was sure it would become easier with time, today heâd just been less prepared than heâd thought he was, and he vowed to make it better.
Just as he was heading outside through the empty hallway, a door opened and he turned around to see Lupin and Seguin coming out of their own locker room, and the sight was just a bit too much for Sirius right then.
Remus was in his game suit, his hair wet from the shower, with a stray curl falling on his forehead that Sirius desperately wanted to brush off. He was once more laughing at something Seguin had said, which made Sirius frown as he turned away, shoving his hands in his pockets.
There was nothing he could do about it, he wanted too many things that he couldnât have.
Once he was outside, having escaped through the back door that led to the parking lot, he leaned against a wall before he lit up a cigarette and took a few long hauls, closing his eyes for a few minutes.
âHey,â a voice said beside him and Sirius almost jumped out of his skin.
âFuck, are you a ninja or something?â Sirius asked, bringing a hand to his heart, still holding the cigarette. He hadnât heard Remus coming out.
Loops grinned as he came to stand right next to Sirius, but then his eyes focused on the cigarette on his hand and he lifted an eyebrow.
âDoes your PT know that you smoke?â
âNo, and thereâs no need for him to know. I only smoke when Iâm stressed.â
âWhat are you stressed about? You were amazing out there.â
âNot in the first period,â Sirius mumbled as he took another drag, but Remus heard him.
âAnd why is that?â he asked with a smirk, taking a step closer.
Sirius huffed in exasperation.
âFuck Re, do you know how hot you look out there? Did you really have to make it that hard on me?â he lifted an eyebrow at the innuendo, which only made Remusâ wolfish grin go wider.
âHmm. You didnât expect me to go easy on you just because weâre dating, right?â
Remus placed a hand on the wall next to Siriusâ head, guarded by the darkness of the parking lot, and looked at him straight in the eye. The golden flecks in Remusâ irises seemed to have a light of their own, and Sirius could only stare, transfixed, as Remusâ long fingers reached up to snatch the cigarette right from between his lips and placed it in his own mouth. Without breaking eye contact, he took a slow drag and exhaled to the side before stubbing the fag against the wall.
âHey!â
Remusâ hand came to rest on the other side of Siriusâ head, and he pressed their chests together, slotting his thigh between Siriusâ.
âYâknow, if it was that hard on you,â he punctuated by pressing his thigh down ever so slightly, smiling as a whine sounded at the back of Siriusâ throat, âthere are other ways to help you relax,â he said with a tilt of his head, before he ducked down to suck on Siriusâ neck.
âI...Re...â
âYouâre not flying back to Gryffindor tomorrow, right?â Remus whispered against the skin just under his ear, pulling a breathy âNoâ out of Sirius that sounded more like a moan. âGood. I can stay with you all night then, yeah?â he added before he scraped his teeth against Siriusâ ear lobe, and Sirius had to blink a few times to clear his fuzzy head.
"I...quoi?" He had to resist the urge to slap himself. Use your words, Black. Â âI mean...what?â Oh yeah, much better.
Remus leaned back just enough to look at him with a smile, tucking Siriusâ hair behind his ear.
âWill you be missed if I take you home?â he said in an amused tone, tilting his head in a way that was so adorable Sirius had to fight to keep another whine in.
âI thought you had a team dinner you couldnât miss.â Sirius hesitated before continuing, âIsnât it too risky for us to do this?â
âNo,â Remus said immediately. Then, after a short pause, âI mean, I do, and it is, but...I havenât seen you in almost a month, Pads. I...I missed you.â
Siriusâ heart melted. Itâd been hard on both of them since the season had started; their tight training schedules and the fact that they lived in different cities didnât allow them much time together. Being apart from Remus felt like being off balance, like his world was tilted to the side, and it had only settled on its right edge the moment Sirius had gone on the rink today and laid eyes on Remus again.
Sirius cupped Remusâ cheek, and the other man pressed against his touch, closing his eyes as a fond smile slowly made its way through his face.
âWhat?â Sirius asked.
âDo you remember that first time I asked you out?â
Sirius was surprised into silence for a few seconds, before he got what Remus was thinking about and he huffed a laugh.
Of course he remembered.
They had been in a very similar situation to the one they were in now, but still, so many things had changed.
The Lions had been playing against Dallas too on that day, only they were at Hogwarts stadium, with their chance at the playoffs at stake. And Siriusâ parents had been there.
Their words, their hard looks, Walburgaâs hand digging into his shoulder...it had all been too much and Sirius had found himself spiralling down into the scared, closed off boy heâd used to be before heâd started playing with the Lions. Before heâd been accepted into a real team, a real family.
At that moment, all he could think about was pressure, reputation, and secrets.
He couldnât let his parents find out. He couldnât let his friends find out. And then, after the game, heâd been alone at the parking lot trying to get his breathing under control, ripping a leaflet to pieces when a soft hand was placed on top of his, and Sirius had looked up to concerned amber eyes.
To the one person he was supposed to avoid at all costs.
Remus had removed his hand from Siriusâ, taking what was left of the paper from him and throwing it in the bin in the corner.
âHey! I was using that!â
âWhat for?â Heâd sounded genuinely curious, which confused Sirius as they were cordial with each other but they werenât really friends.
Staring ahead, Sirius had avoided looking him in the eye as he ran a hand through his hair.
âThere was something on my mind.â
âHmm,â Remus hummed.
Sirius had glanced to his side and found Remus staring at him straight in the eye, before the other man stuffed his hands in his pockets and leaned on the wall beside him.
âAre you free?â
âHm?â Sirius asked absentmindedly. Heâd been too busy staring at the way Remusâ shoulders strained against his shirt to register what had been said.
The corners of Remusâ mouth turned up in a sweet smile, making Siriusâ breath stop completely. He couldnât help but think he was gorgeous.Â
âAre you free right now or do you have somewhere to be?â
âOh. No, Iâm done for the evening,â Sirius said, confused as to where that had come from.
âWell then, wanna go grab dinner?â
âI...what?â Sirius was perplexed. Heâd not been expecting that.
âDinner. With me,â Remus said, amused. What was going on? Was this...was Remus flirting with him? No, that couldnât be it; Loops was known to be one of the most caring players out there, heâd probably seen that Sirius was struggling with something and just wanted to help. But even if that was it, he was not about to turn the man down.
âI...yeah. Yeah, I would like that,â Sirius said as a small smile spread over his face.
When Remus gave him a happy grin of his own, eyes shining bright, Siriusâ stomach had done a flip, and heâd known he was totally, and absolutely fucked.
He felt his body tingle just like it had back then when Remus trailed his fingers along his jaw, bringing him back to the present.
âYeah, I remember,â Sirius placed his hands on Remusâ cheeks and kissed him, slow and steady, making Remus sigh and sag against him as he talked between kisses, never letting their lips part further than an inch. âYou were so cute. And sweet. I was so fucking surprised that you asked me out, but I didnât dare believe you actually wanted...well, me.â
Remus laughed, nudging at Siriusâ nose with his own.Â
âHow could I not want you? Did you look at you? Do you know how sweet, caring and amazing you are?â
Sirius groaned as he nipped at the other manâs bottom lip, making him jump in surprise. He let his fingers run among the wild tawny curls, pulling at them slightly at the back of Remusâ neck. Remus let his head fall back, and instantly felt Siriusâ mouth on the soft skin under his jaw, trailing warm open-mouth kisses until he reached his collarbone.
âRe,â he whispered, feeling his boyfriendâs chest rising and falling in short shallow breaths.
âYeah?â
âPlease take me home.â

Oikawa x (fem!/reader) -> Angst -> 3.8kÂ
âShe told me that she loved me by the water fountain. She told me that she loved me and she didnât love him. And that was really lovely cause it was innocent, but now she has a cup with something else in itâŠâ
Notes: This was for my 100 follower event! I will be closing it soon, but until then, if youâd like to request for an HQ boy, or any from the fandoms I write for, please feel free to request!Â
-> Also, this one was a sad one. I recommend listening to the song, that way, you get the references made!Â
-> Enjoy the Oikawa angst! ^^Â
âThe water fountainâŠâ he whispered. His lips were slightly ajar, parched, yearning for your presence. He was also frail, frail from the lack of composure, along with the crackling of his heart.Â
âShe told me that she loved me...by...by the water fountain,â he stammered, still not able to face the reality he was met with.Â
âAnd she told me that she loved me...and she didnât love him,â where did it all go wrong, when did it all go wrong, and why did it all go wrong? You told him that you loved him by that water fountain, but the only thing that seemed to flow...were the tears from him.Â
---
You both were fairly young when getting together. Middle school, eventually led to highschool, and highschool...well...led to college. Oikawa and you were optimistic. Though he would be practicing (lots and lots), you wouldnât be too far from him. Just a few dorms away. Not only that, but you both would see each other...every now and then You both were ecstatic. A new scenery, a new year, and a new chance for the both of you to experience the life of freshmen. Nothless, together. You both would be doing it together, closer than ever.Â
Tooru was more than happy that you would get to cheer him on in college. It was always his dream to have a pretty girl praise him from the crowd, especially at the college of his dreams. The prime of his time, the best of his years, or...so he thought.Â
When he brought you to his first practice, he didnât like the sight as much as he thought he would. One of the middle blockers, Haru Tamagashi, was too...too friendly. He winked at you maybe three times during the practice. Making small flirtatious gestures, such as: smiling, waving, and indicating that all he wanted was your number. Of course, Oikawa was pissed, beyond that actually. But he decided to focus instead of fusing on his first day.Â
That is...he tried to focus. At first, his attention was directed towards Tamagashi, and him alone. He had trusted you enough to know that you wouldnât have responded...right? Even so, mid way...he couldnât have helped but think of the thought: âwhat if?â What if you actually hadnât deflected him, but were instead...enjoying his attention? He felt horrible for looking back, knowing that if he was wrong...heâd be the asshole for thinking twice. But unfortunately for him, he wasnât...he was right during the time he wished he hadnât been.Â
The setter watched as your eyes followed the gentlemen. No hesitation whatsoever. It seemed as if you were interested in the game set before you. Not the match of course, but instead, the show Tamagashi had entertained you with. You yourself had waved back to him, smiling while also grabbing your phone. You were taking a video of the game, but Oikawa knew that it wasnât of the court. No. It was of...him. The way your fingers pinched the screen, to the way your phone had moved to match his directions. It was obvious to say the least. Occasionally, you wouldâve pointed the camera to Oikawa, smiling as heâd give you a frown. Only for you to return to recording the star of the show...dragging his morale as heâd eventually get hit in the face. Something that would never happen...especially if Iwaizumi was off court.Â
âOikawa, get your head out of the gutter!âÂ
â...âÂ
âOikawa, did you hear me!?-âÂ
âHey, pops, let him off the hook would ya?â Tamagashi said, while placing a hand on Oikawaâs shoulder.Â
âI, how dare you-âÂ
âItâs the first day back, we could all use less of the hollering.âÂ
âTch, five laps for you.âÂ
âDamn, alright. Welp, at least I got you off the hook,â the boy smirked, as Oikawaâs expression...wouldnât change. Â
âWell, see you soon. Also, I hope I can see you too!â he shouted while looking at you. Only for you to nod shyly. Oikawa couldâve sworn he saw a tint in your cheeks, but regardless, he was too upset to confront it. Even then, maybe he was over analyzing it. The dude didnât know that you were his girlfriend, and after all, maybe he was just being self conscious.Â
He was upset that he hadnât trusted you at all during the game, and felt bad that he instead made you seem...villainy. Even though it mightâve just been his head all along. You see, Oikawa was the type of person who enjoyed praise. It fueled his ego alright, but in all truth, he had never felt like he embodied those expectations.Â
Constantly pushing himself to be better, believing that he never was really that good. In this situation, he had thought that maybe those feelings...had come into play. Maybe the reason why he was thinking so much...was because Tamagashi seemed like everything he wasnât. An outgoing, down to earth, charismatic person. He also might've been an even better player than he himself was. Not only that, but did he mention his hair? It looked amazing on him, along with the uniform. The creases folded on his body, each making his figure look...well, great. You could see his toned structure from a mile away, along with his sharp smile. One which struck confidence, and intimidation.Â
And you...you looked like you could get with a guy like that. He seemed like a genuine person, and you were a genuine lady. One of which deserved a catch like him. He wouldnât have denied that he pictured the image in his head. It felt sickening that he even brung up the vision, but even so...Oikawa tried pushing the thought away, thinking:Â
âTch..whatever. Heâs not that good looking anyways, Plus, he doesnât know weâre dating...so I should tell him afterwards. But...that was nice of him to do. Yeah, you know what...maybe we could all be friends? Me, Y/n, and him?âÂ
Maybe you all couldâve been, if only things had flowed a little different. If only the stream hadnât gone off course, but instead, moved along to the water fountain. One with a secure, and sturdy future. One which wouldnât have rusted, and collapsed in the moments to follow.Â
âIâm back!âÂ
âOh...you seemed tired,â heâd say, watching as Haru nodded.Â
âYeah, the old geezer isnât fun sometimes...but heâs a nice person, I can guarantee that-âÂ
âHey~â youâd smile, looking in Tooru's direction. He then lifted his hand, a soft, but saddened grin engraved onto his face. Only for it to turn into a sudden frown, as he then watched Tamagashi wave instead.Â
âWell hello, doll~â you then chuckled, moving a strand to the back of your ear. Oikawa had only seen that on days where heâd made your heart sway, and yet there he was, watching as another man had done so instead.Â
âHey babe,â heâd say casually, catching your attention as you approached him.Â
âHi...Oikawa.âÂ
âOikawa?...not sweetie, or?-âÂ
âAhh, do you two know each other?âÂ
âNowâs my chance.âÂ
âYeah, sheâs my girlf-âÂ
âHaru, am I correct!? Thanks for doing that, I thought it was really nice for you to stand up for him like that.â
âHonestly, donât please. Itâs just something that I would do for anyone. Besides, I bet that you wouldâve done the same for me, right Oikawa?âÂ
âHm?...ah, I guess,â Tooru was now staring at you. He gave a stern look. One fueled with anger, and confusion. Yet it also had hints of remorse, and grief. Why had you cut him off, why hadnât you called him by the name you usually did, and why were you putting the effort to talk with him?...Tamagashi? Just what exactly was running through that head of yours. One of which he thought he knew both in...and out.Â
âWell...we have to go. So letâs leave Y/n,â he then grabbed your wrist, practically dragging you out of the arena.Â
âAh, see you two later then...I guess?âÂ
âB-bye Haru!âÂ
âByee~âÂ
---
âWhat was that!?â
âWhat was what-â
âWhy didnât you call him kawa-kun, or baby like you usually do?â
âTooru...youâre thinking a little much, donât you think?-â
âWhy did you cut me off when I was going to tell him that youâre my girlfriend?âÂ
âLove, I didnât mean to-â
âBut why did you!?âÂ
âLook, I was just trying to thank him. Plus, we needed to get going. So I thought to make it quick so that we could,â heâd then frown even more, not able to tell if you had told the truth, or, if you had made up excuses to get yourself out of this. He thought he knew what went on in that pretty head of yours, but at that moment, he wasnât sure of what roamed around in that foreign land. The land, or rather...place he had called his home.Â
He thought that your mind wouldâve at least had a crevasse. One especially built, and reserved for him. One of which wouldâve considered how he felt, or how the situation mightâve been interpreted. After all, not only did his thoughts roam endlessly for you, but so did the space in his heart. Regardless, it seemed as if it didnât as you proceeded to tell him reason, after reason.Â
âHe was being friendly, and so was I.âÂ
âHeâs your teammate, and I think itâs nice for me to get to know them.âÂ
âI love you regardless, so donât worry.âÂ
âRegardless?...â What was that supposed to mean? Even though he wouldâve wanted to question, his mouth just...wouldnât allow it. So because of that, he dismissed the matter. Something he wished he didnât do.Â
---
Time passed and though he hated to admit it, he didnât see both you, and haru, interacting as much as he did the first time. Though, it shouldâve relieved him, it most definitely did not. Two things had him tied behind his back. One of them made him feel like a complete jerk for over-thinking, and the second was...that his thoughts had still made him over-think. For some reason, he still suspected the both of you. You both had minimal contact, making it seem like you never talked...but that was the thing, why would you have both stopped your talks? Just what exactly would have sparked such a thing? Still, maybe he was just over thinking.Â
Regardless, he wanted to get the thought out of his head. He despised that it still lingered there, and that it wouldnât be on itâs way. He hated the thought of confronting you. After all of that time, that trust should have been established. And even so, he still wanted to assure himself that it was there. So, he sat you down one day. Sometime during the winter where the snowflakes had fallen, along with his heart attached to many strings. Ones which you had placed, and ones which you would remove.Â
âHey babe-...Y/n.âÂ
âHey Kawa...itâs been a while since we last met upâŠâ
âHm?...really?â the both of you hadnât talked during the time period. Yes, you attended his matches, practices, etc...but then once he had finished you both made your separate ways. On the days where you both had expected to meet, one was busy, and the other was left on their own. Not making your situation any better.Â
âYeah...a month or two I think?âÂ
âOh..Iâm sorry about that,â he said, with a gruffed tone in his voice. He didnât sound like he was doing too well, whereas you seemed just fine. âWhy was that?â he wondered, well...it wouldnât take him too long to find out âwhyâ soon.Â
âHey babyâŠâ a name which he hadnât called you in so long, felt foreign to his mouth. Even though it shouldâve felt...natural...along with your response.Â
âMhm?â you responded, reluctantly. That reaction was one he had never seen, not only that, but it was also one he wished heâd never witnessed.Â
âIâve had this thought lingering in my mind. I know itâs a little messed up...and I might be overreactingâŠâÂ
âYes, what is it?â you immediately said, seeming anxious at the moment.Â
âWell...itâs just that...thereâs nothing between you and Tamagashi, is there? Aww see, I knew it would be dumb to ask,â he chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. Only your reaction...had made it plummet.Â
Your eyes had widened at the statement. A cough escaped your mouth, along with a scare. One of which, also gave him a fright. There was no way he was right...especially about that out of all things. Why?...Why would you give him such a stare? Maybe it was out of surprise?...maybe even distraught that he would ever bring up such a question. One about your loyalty nonetheless. He wished he couldâve kept on making excuses, but couldnât any longer as he then heard you say:
âN-no...where would you have heard such a thing? Did he say anything?...oh, he was probably joking. Joking is all, haha. No, I only love you silly, and you alone,â you said, to then grab his hand.Â
For some reason, it felt off. The way your thumb caressed his skin, it was as if he could feel the guilt which had stroked against him. Why...why was that? He could obviously tell that you were guilty of something, but he wouldnât confront it. Why...why was that? He obviously wasnât up in his head, but still convinced himself he was. Why...why was that?...well...even if he didnât have the answer, he would soon enough. In the way that he wouldâve, yet wouldnât have wanted it to be relayed.Â
---
âYOU BASTARD! SO YOU HAVE BEEN GOING OUT WITH HER!?âÂ
âIt was just a couple of kisses, besides, you have so many girls on your plate. I just took one off your hands, no biggie-â Oikawa then struck him across the cheek, furious about what he said. You werenât just a snack anyone could take a bite out of. And heck, if you were a piece of food, youâd be a piece heâd preserve for as long as he could. One he would never touch because of the beautiful, intricate designs that were placed.Â
âYOU SHIT HEAD! SHEâS MY GIRLFRIEND FOR FUCKS SAKE! EVEN IF YOU DIDNâT KNOW-âÂ
âWho said I didnât?â he cocked a brow, making Oikawa widen his eyes.Â
âWhat?...â
âThe girl told me herself before coming in to kiss me.âÂ
âYouâre lying, take it back. She would never-â
âOh but she did. But donât worry, she did feel bad at some point...but we were in too deep for her to back out-âÂ
âSHUT UP!â Oikawa then tried to punch his gut, but Haru stopped him midway. He grabbed his wrist, and held onto it firmly.Â
âIf anything, you should be thanking me.âÂ
âThanking you!? Are you out of your mind!-âÂ
âWell, I am telling you the truth about your cheater of a girlfriend. Plus, I took her off your hands, so you're free to go to find someone new. Iâll let her go soon, so we both wonât have to deal with her-âÂ
âShut it...shut itâŠâ Oikawa repeated, unable to comprehend the news he had heard.Â
âPlease...be quiet.âÂ
---
âTooru, I can explain!âÂ
âEXPLAIN WHAT Y/N!? THAT YOU MADE OUT WITH HIM MORE THAN ONCE!? THAT YOU DENIED MY THOUGHTS, MAKING ME FEEL AS IF I WAS WRONG!? OR THAT YOU ACTUALLY CHEATED ON ME!? I DONâT THINK YOU CAN EXPLAIN ANYTHING Y/N!âÂ
âYou know what, MAYBE I CANâT! AND I WAS SORRY FOR THAT!âÂ
âIF YOU WERE SO SORRY, THEN WHY...why did you do it?...â you then leaned against the door, not sure how to convey your thoughts. You hated the sight of Oikawa being so hurt, but you had your reasons for what you did. Though you yourself knew that conflict couldâve been avoided, you decided to plumit yourself right in it. Maybe it was because you wanted to catch his attention, or that Yamagashi had really attracted you. Regardless, what was done, was done. And you wouldnât be one to deny such accusations aymore.Â
âLook...you werenât giving me the attention I needed...besides...Tamagashi had caught my eye.âÂ
âCaught your eye?...âÂ
âYeah...even so...it felt wrong the first time I kissed him.âÂ
âShe kissed him?...so he wasnât lying...she started thingsâŠâÂ
âI told him that we were dating, and you know...I did stop myself before going any further. I truly felt lonely during the days that you were gone...and him being there, gave me comfort. In all truth, I had met him even before you introduced us. We were in the same English class...and things built up from there.Â
He was just...so enticing, something I hadnât seen for a while. But Oikawa, I still had strings attached to you, and didnât want to throw them away recklessly. Iâm sorry, I loved you, I truly did. But...that connection just...disappeared, along with the spark we used to have. I hesitated out of my affection for you, but I proceeded out of the tiredness that built up from this, us...again, Iâm sorry Oikawa. I hope that,â a tear had struck down your cheek. He wanted to reach out and wipe it. Just why...why were you crying. Wasnât he supposed to be the one tearing up? So...why were you?.... Even though that question shouldâve been asked out of rage, it was instead asked out of remorse. Oikawa didnât know how to feel at that point. He didnât even know who he was, or...who he had been during that time given.Â
All that he knew was that if you were willing to fix things, so would he. That if you ever came back to the water fountain, the one you tried so hard to build, even if the handle had rusted, he would do his best to fix it. You know, he thought to himself how he shouldâve built a home for the both of you, but alas, your naive natures wouldâve never sustained. He questioned if he truly was at fault, not sure as to what was what, and why exactly that was.Â
âI hope that...youâll be happy. I donât expect you to forgive me, but yeah,â you then wiped your own tears yourself. Not wanting to add anymore emphasis to the drama at hand. You lied though. Of course you wanted him to forgive you. He was your first love after all. The only one you had grown up with. The only one you stood by. And the only one, you would truly be grateful for. But then again, you knew you didnât deserve it (it being his forgiveness).Â
Although you didnât regret your choices, you most definitely did regret hurting him. If only talking had been an option, would you have taken it? Well...you wouldâve assumed no. Being that it was one of the few options given. Still, watching him stand limply, tore your heart ever so slightly. Reminding you that he was both the sweet, and innocent boy you had hopelessly fell in love with. Not only that, but he was also the distant, and maturing man you had fallen out of love with.Â
âYou...have you forgotten what you told me by that water fountain?âÂ
âWhat do you mean-âÂ
âThe one we built together...have you forgotten?...â In all truth, you didnât have any recollection because all that you had remembered...was the empty home the both of you shared. One with no running water, nonetheless a water fountain. One built out of your young, and blinded dreams. One which was full of loneliness, and miscommunication. One which was full of âlove,â and loads of wishful dreaming. One which you would always remember.Â
âNo Tooru...all I remember...is that empty place we called a home. One made when we were both naive, and one I had left when I matured. I hope you can do the same, and that...you have a great day,â you then started to walk away as he stood there, stunned.Â
Instead of asking him to fix things, you instead deflected things. Running away as he spoke. Even so, even if it was only a wish, one of which heâd pray for, he would do his best to make it come true. He tried one last time. He jolted your direction, grabbed your wrist, and started pulling you in. Whispering in your ear:Â
âI know that itâs only a wish, and that weâre not standing by the water fountain...but you told me that you loved me by that water fountain. Itâs a shame that your cup...now has something else in it,â you then pushed him off you, but he wouldnât let you go as he held your for the last time.Â
Had Tamagashi held you the same way he did? He wouldnât know, and in all honesty, wouldnât have cared. He was too lost in his head to even think of the guy, and only thought of you. If only things had been different, would you have come back to him? To the place you both called a home? Sure, it mightâve started when you both were young, but it wouldâve stood stronger with the years to come.Â
Well...he wouldâve never got to know, because things...wouldâve never been different. He shouldâve built a home with a fountain for you both, but he was too young to think such a thought. Just like how you were so young, too young to feel as lonely as you did. The moment that you told him you were in love, he wasâŠ:Â
âToo young...I was too young,â eventually, he did let go. Not just of you, but the thought that you both could return to what you both had. There was no returning. If the handle was broken, what could he have done? Fixing one would need all parts, and if you were one of the essential keys, well...even with the right bolts, and screws, ones that could have replaced you, still wouldnât have mattered. You missing, would never fix a thing. It could never make that fountain whole, regardless of the patches which tried to stitch up the flood. One of which would eternally flow...never ending...just like his love for you.Â
He glanced at you one time. Just one last time would he stare at his sweet Y/n. The girl who had stuck through with him, through thick and thin. The only person who knew, and loved him for him. And the only woman, who had truly broken his heart. Not caring for him one bit while she tore it all apart.Â
âYouâre right...we were too young,â he said, glancing at the floor beneath him.Â
âYes we were, and I was right indeed.âÂ
---
âShe couldnât be at home at the night time because, it made her feel alone-â he choked on his sentence. Though he shouldâve been fine, he wasnât really. He had tried to shield himself with his pride, but it wasnât working the way he had intended. Regardless, Oikawa realized how the distance between your hearts...was more distant than the distance between your dorms. He thought that moving colleges wouldâve made you drift, but in reality, it was the blameless nature, and the naive mindsets you both had. Those innocent gestures...had turned into a guilty, and corrupted bondage. The bond you had both shared was one he would always remember. The only one which had reminded him:Â
âThat weâre not standing by the water fountain.âÂ

All My Life
Pairing: Marcus Moreno x Fem!Reader
Rating: G (for now) Warning: None. Just a lot of pining. Word Count: 2,144 A/N: I threw this idea out like over a month ago to you all after watching the movie and you all loved it! Iâve finally finished the first part of this story! I hope you all enjoy!
âMarcus and Missy Moreno Save the World Againâ
The headline dashed across the bottom of your television screen as clips of the Heroics defeating an invading robotic alien flashed on the screen. The news reporters were rambling on about the details of the attack and how the Morenos and the others had stopped the invaders.
The smile on your face as you packed your suitcase was undeniable. It was wonderful to see the next generation of Heroics take over. Especially after your own departure from the original gang. You hadnât kept in straight contact with many of them aside from Jasmine and Alana.
They both had been texting you for the last week to ensure you were actually going to attend the reunion. You didnât know why they were so insistent on you going but youâd absolutely be lying to say you werenât excited to get back together and have something other than work to focus on.
Becoming a consultant for recruiting new Heroics wasnât always a glamorous job and your deadlines for meeting quotas were constantly breathing down your neck. But knowing that you were still making an impact even if your powers were mostly underwraps and not used in a big way, was enough to make your job and your move all those years ago worth it.
Your phone buzzed as you attempted to zip the suitcase, pushing down with your entire body weight to try to slide the metal zipper. You grunted and puffed air up out of your mouth and shook your head. You should know better than to overpack but you were trying to make sure you were prepared for anything for the weekend that youâd be back home.
You took a sharp breath in and reached for your phone where it sat on your nightstand. Seeing the messages flying in from Jasmine and Alana made you laugh. They were both gushing about how Marcus looked on the newsreel and Jasmine in particular was mentioning that he was looking better with age and that if you didnât try to snag him at the reunion that she would seize her opportunity.
âSeriously? He just uses those arms like that?â
âI swear if he comes to the reunion in that vestâŠâ
âCan you imagine what he looks like now that heâs so stacked?â
Your fingers flew across the screen telling them both to calm down and that Marcus, the last thing you knew, was married. Alana was quick to jump in and inform you that Marcusâs wife had passed away just a few years ago. Your heart immediately sank upon reading that message. Despite the years and the way life had separated you, your heart still cared for Marcus.
You had lost your husband to infidelity but losing a significant other in the way Marcus did? Your heart panged as you texted the girls that there was absolutely no way you'd be able to "jump on that" as Jasmine had to eloquently put it. It wouldn't be right. You were just excited to see him and everyone else and catch up on life.
You finally won the fight against the zipper of your suitcase and pulled it onto the floor. You ran through your checklist one last time before deciding you were ready. You placed your carry-on on top of the suitcase and with your phone and keys in hand, you left the house and made your way to the airport.
--------------------
âDaaaad, seriously,â Missy groaned with a grin attached to her face. The young girl got up from the edge of her fatherâs bed and stood in front of him by the mirror. Her small hands came up to cover her fatherâs larger ones as she stopped him from fidgeting with the tie.
âYou look fine,â she reassured him, again. She tugged on the tie to straighten as Marcus looked down at her and sighed. For a teenage girl, Missy seemed to have her life more together than Marcus at times.
âIf you say so. Doesnât make me feel fine,â Marcus admitted to his daughter. Ever since his wife had died, Missy had become his focus and when he had to rejoin the Heroics, he did it to protect her. Everything was for her. So having a night out for just him was odd.
âWhat are you nervous about? That everyone is going to know that we saved the world again?â Missy laughed and Marcus cracked a grin, shaking his head softly.
âThat Iâll bump into people I havenât seen in years and theyâll think differently of me,â Marcus admitted with a sigh. Missyâs brows furrowed up at her father before her face softened. She knew what it was like to have people look at you like an outcast but there was no way her father would be looked at that way. He was a literal hero and she told him such which made him smile down and press a kiss to the top of her head.
âLove you kiddo,â Marcus sighed before finally leaving the house to make his way to the gymnasium of a building he hadnât stepped foot in in almost two decades. The walls seemed shorter now and the hallways narrower but his feet carried him through as if he were back to being a teenager.
His eyes scanned as he saw the locker that he had called home for all four years. And a few steps later, he saw your corner locker and his heart stopped for a second. He wondered if you were going to make it to the reunion. He hadnât thought too deeply about you in a few years because he was still grieving his wife but now that he was here, you were consuming his thoughts.
As he walked into the decorated and rainbow-lit gymnasium, all conversations started to fade away as everyone looked to him with bright smiles. Jasmine looked over your shoulder towards the entrance and her eyes widened. She tapped your arm and nudged her chin in his direction, making you turn.
Your heart nearly leaped out of your chest seeing him. A black suit with a black tie and his black frames all pulled the look together nicely. You guessed Missy probably had a hand in helping him pick out his outfits. The girl was notorious for helping her father with simple things and it didnât surprise you.
You watched as Steven, better known as Miracle Guy, came over to clap Marcus on the shoulder while shaking his hand with the other. Last you knew Steven didnât like Marcus but perhaps he was putting on a show since there were phones and cameras everywhere. You scoffed quietly to yourself as a reminder that some people really donât change.
Some minutes later, Alana nudged her elbow into your side. âMarcus is alone at the drink table. Go say hi,â she punctuated the last word with another nudge and you made a pout at her. âBut I have a full-â you started but Alana quickly swiped your cup and downed the rest of your punch. You narrowed your eyes at her and she just gave a giddy, toothy smile, holding your now empty cup out to you before mouthing the word Go.
You rolled your eyes and sighed heavily as you took the cup from her and turned around but not before sticking your tongue out at her. You walked a bit slowly, nervous to even strike up a conversation with your ex-high school boyfriend turned superhero of the world.
You stepped up the punchbowl just as Marcus was about to reach for it and bumped his arm. âOh! Sorry!â you exclaimed with a light chuckle and he turned to see who had bumped him and felt a huge lump form in his throat.
Your name came from him like a soft whisper and you felt your face soften looking at him. âHi Marcus,â you said softly, almost in a soft whisper that echoed the way he had said your name. âOr should I say Mr. Superhero of the World?â you gave a soft chuckle and he echoed it with a soft guffaw of his own. The two of you stood there for a minute, just studying each otherâs faces with goofy grins attached to your lips.
Suddenly the music dimmed and a tap of a live microphone came over the speakers. âAttention everyone! Okay, okay! Come closer okay?â the class president, Rachelle Hawkins, spoke into the microphone. You and Marcus turned your attention to the stage at the same time. Most of the crowd started moving closer to the stage but you stayed back with Marcus by the food table.
âFirst of all I just want to say thank you to everyone who could make it tonight,â she said in her overly fake happy tone that she used to use as a cheerleader. You rolled your eyes slightly and Marcus looked over and chuckled at your response. He remembered how much you and Rachelle didnât get along. You werenât exactly enemies but her power during school years seemed to have just been racking up the count on how many boys would lose their virginity to her.
Marcus leaned over to speak into your ear with both of your heads still facing the stage. âGood to see she hasnât changed huh?â he whispered which made you snicker. You both were already falling back into comfort after so many years apart. It only made sense since you had dated for all four years of high school and were friends first.
âLetâs start the night off with a dance from our senior year prom king and queen!â Rachelle exclaimed and held her hand out to point in your and Marcusâs direction. Everyone turned to face you both as Rachelle called out both your names and a bright light then shown on you. You tried to shield your eyes from the blinding spotlight as you looked to Marcus.
In the distance you heard Jasmine and Alana whooping and hollering in celebration which prompted everyone else to start clapping and cheering the two of you on. Marcus looked at you and placed his plate down on the long table. You followed suit to place your still empty cup down next to his plate. You swallowed a large lump that had formed in your throat before Marcus was holding out his arm for you to loop yours through.
You did so and he led you out to the middle of the floor. The light finally faded and you could clearly see Marcusâ face. His eyes were scanning the crowd before jumping back to you. You took a deep breath and reached up to put your left hand onto his shoulder. He placed his right arm on your hip and reached with his left hand to grab your right and hold it. He intertwined your fingers and you felt your heart nearly leap from your chest.
He pulled you closer slowly so your bodies were right next to each other as the song started playing. âAll My Lifeâ by KC and Jojo came over the speakers and you couldnât help but burst out laughing as Marcus swayed you to the beat. He was smiling too knowing why this song was picked. It was the same song that was played during your dance after being chosen as king and queen.
Your laughter caused you to lean into Marcusâs chest for a minute to catch your breath and his heart started to race a mile a minute. Your heart was starting to match his rhythm and when you stood up straight up again, you found yourself just looking into his eyes. The feel of his body pressed against you, the heat of his arm that was now wrapped around your lower back all accumulated to you immediately feeling smitten by him once more.
Your eyes flickered around his face slowly, landing on his lips before looking back into his eyes. But before you knew it, Rachelleâs voice was coming back through the speakers, loud and clear over the music. âAw look at them folks! Itâs like nothing has changed! How sweet!â she cooed and the entire crowd followed suit. You rolled your eyes and Marcus gave a tight lipped grin in response.
He finally pulled back from you when Rachelle started to list off the nightâs events and the song faded into the night. Your heart was beating so hard you were starting to breathe heavier. Marcus walked back over to the food table to gather up his plate and you followed him just a step behind. You picked up your cup and without a word to Marcus, started to refill it with punch.
âIâll um, Iâll see you later?â Marcus asked rather than said and you looked up at him with a wry smile and slow nod.

Shameless Flirting - JJ Maybank One Shot
Words: 1.428
Warnings: swearing
Pairing: JJ Maybank x kook female!reader
A/N / Summary: back in January I found a request on someone elseâs post that read: âThe death squad Top, Rafe and Kelce with the reader/oc. Sheâs a kook  girl version of JJ and itâs just her and and JJ shamelessly flirting with each other (neither pogues or kooks like that) butâ. So I guess thatâs it. Got a part 2 in drafts.
(pic not mine)
âTake a picture, itâll last longer bae.
She smiled winningly at him as Topper rolled his eyes and walked away towards Kelce. âOh yeah? But then what would I do with a picture of you?
âWell, you know, whenever you get lonely at night âshe playfully hit him. âShut up JJ.
âYou could also use it as your lock screen. âhe winked and smirked.
She half laughed and replied âYeah, I bet youâd love that.
âOh, you should totally do it.
John B called JJâs name from where he sat with Kie and Pope on the beach. Charlotte quickly took her chance and snapped a picture of him from her angle, a little behind him. The photograph showed JJ nonchalantly leaning against the wooden structure she was sitting on, only the upper half of his body with his grey tank top and his usual hat. His neck with a few strands of blonde hair could be seen as well as only a part of his face, which was looking at John B. It was very aesthetic, the sun was close to setting so the sky was turning darker with different colours including orange, contrasting with JJâs grey shirt but also highlighting his blonde hairs and tanned skin.
The sound of her camera phone taking the picture made him spin his head to look at her and ignore John B as he gave her a seducing smile. She laughed and then dropped her body to her feet. âGo mister, the public awaits. âshe lingeringly kissed his cheek on purpose to tease him as she always did before turning on her heels and head towards her friends. He stood there for half a second just to get out of her effect and went with his friends as well.
âFinally Charles! Rafe was about to go pick you up. âKelce told you as Rafe nodded in agreement next to him.
âSorry guys, but here I am, all for yourselves boys! âshe smiled and tried to ease the tension Rafe and especially Topper felt due to her flirting with the Pogue they hated the most.
JJ kind of experienced a similar situation with his own crew. Kie not even looking at him, Pope was wearing an expression of disgust and John B was trying his best to hold his tongue. JJ took a beer can and ignored his friendsâ dislike of his flirting with the second Kook they despised most, the first one being Rafe.
-x-
Sarah and Rafe had agreed for once to throw a pool party together when their dad and Rose left a few days for business. This meant although the majority of the guests would be Kooks, on Sarahâs behalf there would also be a certain Pogue crew as well as some Tourons of course.
âChug! Chug! Chug! Chug! âRafe, Top and Kelce boosted Charlotte as she downed the drink being poured into the beer bong funnel.
âWohooo! Damn that was nice! âShe exclaimed as she cleaned the drops falling down her chin with the back of her hand.
Rafe threw an arm over her shoulders âThis is our girl boys! âshe grabbed the hand that hung over her right shoulder as she laughed.
âTold you this one was a keeper! âTopper added.
JJ had been watching her chug and interact with the three men. To be honest he didnât want to come. Although the whole group tried their best to avoid Kooks, JJ was particularly reluctant to party at the Kook kingdom. Only after Sarah ensured theyâd be safe they all agreed to go. Under Sarah and Kiaraâs wing, they would be okay. At least as long as John B or JJ didnât start a fight.
âJJ! âKieâs voice brought his attention back to their conversation. He gulped his beer down and laughed at Popeâs anecdote.
A few meters away Charlotte heard a peculiar laugh that captured her interest and so she directed her look at the blonde. She couldnât stop a smile that didnât go unnoticed by Rafe.
An hour later she was sitting at the poolâs edge with her legs in the water as she listened to Kelce tell a story about his last trip to Costa Rica.
âYo guys, Iâll be right back, gotta pee. Someone wants a drink? âshe asked.
âIâve got us an Appleton hidden at the top of the bookshelf near the stairs, bring it. âRafe spoke.
âAn Appleton? Uuh fancy âshe moved her eyebrows up and down quickly making him laugh.
When she saw the queue to get in the bathroom downstair she didnât waste a second deciding to go to the one next to Rafeâs bedroom. As she was opening the white door she heard someone clearing their throat. She looked up and found a rather provoking JJ resting his back on a wall. Immediately a mischievous smile appeared on her face.
âWell, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in⊠âhe rolled his eyes and took a step towards her, circling his right arm around her waist to bring her closer and leave a tender kiss on her cheek. Caught by surprise, she felt blood rushing to her cheeks at the unexpected greeting. Such reaction only made the boy more confident, letting go of her to give her a beguiling smile.
âWhatcha doinâ up here gorgeous? âa more serious look on his face now.
âOh nothing, just gotta use the bathroom. What about you though? What are you doing up here? Doesnât seem like your comfort zone, you know, away from your gang and in the enemyâs territory⊠âshe winked.
âNot gonna lie, I was looking for something good to drink.
âUp here?
He grimaced. âNo secret that the rich hide their best collections. âhe lifted his shoulders and pouted, not giving a care in the world about voicing his bad intentions.
She smiled and nodded. âOkay then, good luck on your treasure hunt, Iâm gonna go to the toilet now. âshe turned to the door but stopped before going in, she spoke once again âOh and, if you want my advice, Iâd look into bookshelves.
He watched her disappear into the tiled room and kept looking for a bottle worth stealing. By the time she came out he was already standing in front of the bathroom door with a bottle attached to his lips.
She raised an eyebrow at her sight. âI see youâve been successful on your hunt. âshe walked to stand next to him and grabbed the bottle to put it in her mouth. He watched her attentively, not being able to stop himself from staring at her every move. His eyes set on the way her lips embraced the bottle spout, on the movement of her throat as she swallowed the liquid and on the tip of her pink tongue licking her lips when she finished. She turned to him and softly closed his mouth with her hand.
âCareful, youâre drooling babe. âwith that she left down the stairs to reunite with her group.
As she was looking for the Appleton, she felt Rafeâs voice behind her, startling her.
âWhat took you so long? âSorry, I run into someone.
Just as she finished her sentence JJ passed by and sent a defiant glare at the Cameron. The latter set a deathly glare on him as well and mumbled. âOf course you fucking did.
âActually, I donât think dirty pogues like you are welcomed in my party. âRafe stood in front of JJ threateningly. Maybank, being no coward, bit his lip and prepared himself to fight. Before anything else happened, Charlotte stepped between them facing her friend. âOookay, no need to get heated now, right?
The two boys seemed to be in a staring contest, angry expressions and slightly agitated breathings on both of them. She put a hand on Rafeâs shoulder trying to get him to focus on her and not on the blonde. âCâmon dude, lets go outside and drink this bad boy, I know you wanna. âshe tried to lighten the mood but failed miserably. Magically, her silent pleas for Sarah or any of JJ friends to come help her became true as Sarah walked in on the three, getting a hold of the situation immediately.
âRafe cut it, we talked about this. âRafe looked at her sister and huffed. Sarah hurried to grab JJâs hand to take him away from his death. Once they were a few feet away Charlotte grabbed Rafeâs hand and tugged to stop him from looking at Maybank and go back to the pool to keep drinking.

Peter Parker fluff- as friends or on a date, the reader and Peter go to target and cuteness, flirting and a lot of fluff happen đ„ș
Some ideas ( if you donât know what to do )
- Peter picks you an outfit to wear
- your in the makeup section shopping and Peter either gets into it or he gets bored
- in the food isles Peter says that you both should bake together
Even tho iâm not taking requests... i still wanted to do a little hc cause this idea was to cute to pass up that and i was feeling in a fluffy mood
Main MasterlistÂ
I could see it just being something happening out of the blue
Well for Peter at least
He was ready to just chill at your place
Maybe get some last minute work down
But for the most part he was just excited to goof around with you like he did almost every afternoon
Maybe also gather the courage to confess his feelings to you
What he didnât expect was to be attacked with your puppy dog eyes, asking him to come with you to target
You were already planning on going with a MJ but she bailed last second
For reasons unknown đ
Definitely not because the constant pinning was getting on her nervesđ
And since it was a last minute decision to go, you didn't have the time to tell Peter your plans
So once he reached you immediately asked him to go with you
He âreluctantlyâ agreed, coughing away the red all over his face when you grabbed his hand and dragged him out the apartment
Now where I live we donât have target and Iâve only ever been there once so bare with me here
Peter doesnât know jack shit about shopping for clothes
His waredrobe consists of the same jacket, two pairs of jeans he just washes every week, maybe a sweater or two and an entire draw dedicated to tshirts with science puns
And while you found the silly puns and jokes cute, especially when he looked so proud and went on little rambles when someone pointed them out
You couldnât help but wonder how you could do so much better...
Queue the fashion show montage
The classic black jeans, white shirt combo for starters
Definitely trying out the bad boy look with a fake leather jacket over top
Does target sell plaid pants?đ cause if they do thats a definite yes
Weâve seen how good Tom looks in them
And maybe- possibly you slipped in a crop topÂ
The second best thing youâve ever done after embarrassing him in front of the avengersÂ
And as much as he didnât want to admit, he liked it too
Quite a lot
But he couldnât let you know that
Especially since he was acting done with the entire situation, he had to keep up with the facade
Not that it was believable when his face was the shade of the target logo itself
Subtly slipped the top into the cartÂ
âI thought you didnât like it?â
âshutup.â đ§đ»
Picking out some clothes for you wasnât any better
Because of course you picked the most revealing outfits
Constantly asking how he felt about it, if he liked the colour, the way it made you look
He always answered with the generic answer of you look beautiful in everything or just a quick, high pitched ye-yeah you look great!
Which was true, you could make a potato sack look amazing
But he wasnât about to call his best friend sexy in the middle of a Target
Nor did he want to get turned on in the middle of a Target
So calling you beautiful seemed like the next best thing
After the absolute torcher mostly on his part in the in the clothes section
It was off to the makeupÂ
And boy, did you take advantage of him
Using him as your brand new canvas
Countless swatches of eye shadow, lipstick, you name it, littered his arms with the first aisle
Honestly anything that caught your eye and had a free sample you used
Ofc this is after covid
Very pouty boi every time you grabbed his arm
But still looked at you like you lite up the sun
Which was always his downfall
Willing to help
But at what cost?
At some point, you managed to reach to his face
Manz do be looking like a full on clown afterwardsđ€Ą
But he was your clown đ„°
*cough cough*
Best friend clown ig đđđ
Luckily you kept makeup wipes in your bag
Because you were cruel, but not that cruel
And while Peter was relieved, he had to make a mental note to ask if you could do his face properly when you reached back home
Maybe it was because he actually quite liked how he looked with coloured eyeliner or maybe it was because of the close proximity of your face to his
Ig weâll never knowđ€·ââïž
At that point you thought youâd put him through enough
So you rewarded him with going to the toy aisle next
Because you canât convince me that Peter Parker is not a man child by heart
And that is not the first place he would run too anytime heâs taken to any store like target
Youâve never seen him smile wider that day
Probably because all youâve been making him do was blush and mumble words under his breath đ
But he was especially pulled to all the spider man toys
In fact as you both entered the aisle there was already a small boy there, giggling with his parents as he held up packaged web-shooters and playing superhero, adorning a plastic spider-man mask on his face
Peter almost burst into a million pieces of confetti
And as the family left, he turned to you with a bright smile
âCan we get some?â
âTHE CHILD??!!â
âWHAT!? NO! Not the child, the TOYS!â
such a weird sentence out of context lmaoo
Fast forward the next thirty minutes, the both of you are giggling and laughing, chasing each other around the aisles with plastic swords and shields
Peter having to hold you back from jumping into a crate of plushies
You making sure he never got any silly string cans in his hands
Just pure chaos
How you both havenât gotten kicked out? Only bingus knows
Having that moment where he sneaks up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you against him, just muttering boo in your ear to scare you
Him laughing at you
You trying to calm your racing heart
Then realising how close both your faces where
The area becoming quiet
Feeling his breath against your face
His body close to yours
All Peter saw was you and all you saw was Peter
The both of you slowly leaning in, gaze switching from his lips to his eyes, making sure that this was something that he wanted
Feeling his lips brush along yours, reading to fully press them against-
âeXUsE mE? But do you knew where the shampoo is?â
đđđ
đ§ââïžđ§đ»
đŠ đŠ đŠ
Peter stepped away and politely guided the lady to the aisle, earning him a pat on the head while you stood awkwardly by your cart
You both strolled to the food area in silence, immediately separating to âdivide and conquerâ but in reality it was to fully process what just happened
While you were overthinking near the pastries, Peter was working over by the fruits, hating that the moment was ruined and wondering what wouldâve happened if you werenât interrupted
He kept thinking about the fact that you didnât pull away
That you leaned in with him
That he felt your lips even if it was for a split second
He wasn't about to let his opportunity go to waste
And his sudden burst of courage
So as you both checked out and walked out of the store, he was quick to pack everything in the trunk of the car, pushing the cart right in front of you and blocking you from climbing into the drivers seat
âGet in.â
âHeh?â
âGet in.â
You blinked
âAs in, get into the cart?â
âYes.âđ
heheÂ
youâre in dangerđ
But nevertheless you got into the cart, trying your best to find a comfortable positionÂ
You mind immediately went to Peter rushing you across the carpark, sending you both flying into a hospital bed
But you didnât expect him to pull out a camera along with a bouquet of flowers you didnât know he bought
He delicately gave it to you, blushing when your fingers brushed along each other
âI just- I just wanted to get some photos for memories.âÂ
His hand rubbed at the back of his neck, eyes locked on his shoes that tapped on the floor repeatedly
You bit your lip, relaxing into the cart with your leg thrown over the thin plastic and flowers held to your chest
âLike one of your french girls?â
âOkay. Just because we watched Titanic last week does not give you the right to use that line everywhere,â
âJust shut up and take the pictures Parker.â
After a few moments of Peter circling the cart, making sure to get the perfect angles that captured the sun set behind you but kept you as the focus point of the picture, you started to zone out
Instead of focusing on making a certain face or direction, you took in his appearance
Hair tousled and glowing brown, moving perfectly with the wind
His face fully concentrated on taking the pictures
It was a perfect picture
He was a perfect picture
âIf this is for memories you gotta get in here too Peter.â
You smiled, waving your hands and ushering for him to come closer
âI- okay.â
He walked behind the cart hesitantly, leaning over with the camera to get the both of you in frame
He had to lean a little bit closer, his face right next to yours
So as his finger pressed the button to take the photo, you took the courage to turn your head to give him a kiss on the cheek
But he turned his head to do the same thing
Resulting the both of your lips connecting, a quick peck that sent to both of your head spiralling and smiles growing
âNever thought our first kiss would be in a target carpark.â
âCan out second one be there too?â
âDamn right it can.â

jjâs jealousy
read their story here
masterlist
>>> the troublemakers face their first fight when maxâs little prank at school turned jjâs jealousy to a whole other level.
âI canât believe that we actually won.â John B said with his backpack hanging from one side once he walked into school with his two best friends by his side, Pope and JJ.
âOur team sucks,â JJ said, looking at the group of people with shirts of the colors of the school on, with smiles on their faces and waving their hands like they just won the Olympics âso itâs actually surprising that we won.â He took the chance to look at the grand hallway that was in front of him. It was fuller than JJ had ever seen it, and it wasnât filled with bored and unmotivated teenagers, the opposite, everyone had so much energy it looked like they all drank five cups of coffee like they do with beer at parties. The colors of their school was plastered all over the walls, even the floor with confetti and flags. Hearing some girls laughing, he turned around and immediately started looking for his girlfriend. He got surprised when he didnât find her right away, since Max wouldnât miss a chance to make something crazy when the school was surrounded by chaos. But she was nowhere to be seen.
âHey have you guys seen Max?â JJ asked, taking the chance that maybe his friends knew where she was, but they both shook their heads.
âNo, I havenât.â Pope responded but then shut his mouth when another group of screaming teenage girls walked into the school. âSeems like the school has the spirit to the roof.â
He turned to where his best friend was looking at and noticed a big group of people surrounding the wall that the school stuff would usually hang pictures of a prior event. Some seemed to be surprised and others laughing at the strange thing they were staring at. They were whispering to each other and that got JJ even more intrigued.
âWhat are they talking about?â He asked the moment his two best friends started to walk towards it.
âI donât know.â Pope said once JJ arrived next to him.
He tried to make his way closer to whatever everyone was looking at and as soon as he had no people longer in front of him, his eyes wondered around the pictures to see what the big deal was. And there it was. Or there they were. He squinted his eyes to see them more clearly, even though his mind already knew what they were. Two asses where in the picture that was in the middle of the entire wall, the big group of people on it were celebrating just winning the game and nobody seemed to noticed the two asses showing behind them. He tried to recognised who they were, but nothing more than their asses were showing in the picture. No back, no hair, nothing that would set them apart from any other ass at the school. Expect for one thing. A single dark brown dot on the side of one cheek.
It canât be.
âIs that..?â He asked but Pope cut him off.
âOh my god!â He and John B were laughing so loudly that it took a second for JJ to fully recognised one of the asses on the picture again. Noticing that his friends werenât calming down, he pulled them closer to him so nobody could listen to what he was going to say. John B and Pope looked at him confused while waiting for their friend to talk.
âItâs Max and Sam!â JJ said finally, in a loud whisper.
âHow do you know?â Pope asked looking back at the picture.
âIâve seen that ass enough to recognise it! And who is the girl thatâs always with Max doing this kind of stuff, Sam!â He pointed at it and then punched John Bâs arm when he got closer to the picture to stare a it more clearly. âDamn, thatâs my girl.â Those words were said a mix proudness and jealousy. JJ didnât know how to feel, the fact that his girlfriend had the balls to do something like that made his insides go wild, that was his girl. But at the same time, the hundred of eyes seeing her girlfriendâs ass wasnât something that JJ would ever want to experience.
âI have to send this to Kie.â John B said while laughing after taking a picture with his phone.
âDamn.â JJ heard behind him and immediately felt his chest feel with a burning sensation when the voice came from a boy. âThey got an ass.â As soon as he said that, JJ turned around ready to put the guy on his place, but his words were cut off when he heard some whistling coming from the entrance of the school. He immediately noticed Max and Sam walking into school with their backpacks hanging from one shoulder, a girl that was walking towards them checked if no adults were there, and because they werenât around, she turned back to the girls and gave each one of them a high five. The smiles of the girls were bigger than the picture itself, they were clearly proud. And so was JJ.
The jealousy that he was feeling before completely disappeared when he looked at all the victory Max was feeling around school. High fives all over the place and everyone congratulating them, it was a prank well made and JJ couldnât deny feeling proud at his girlfriend for that. After all, it was their thing.
âHey you two. Nice trick.â He said as soon as he and his friends were close enough to the girls.
âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â Max said shaking her head, but then let out a little smile when JJ got closer to her to leave a little kiss on her lips.
âWe did nothing.â Sam lifted her hands into the air.
âI sent the picture to Kie.â John B said showing his phone to Sam, which she nodded proudly.
âThanks.â
âHow come everyone knows it was you two?â Pope asked looking around at the people staring.
âBecause weâre the only two girls that have the balls to do it.â Max said shrugging her shoulders. âBut donât tell anyone.â She winked at Pope and everyone nodded proudly when Sam and Max did a high five. Sam, Pope and John B went to look at the picture on John Bâs phone and Max was about to do the same, but when JJ grabbed her waist she stayed put and stared at the grin on his face.
âI donât know if I should be jealous of those guys looking at your ass or be really proud of you right now.â He said and Max let out a smile and pretended to think about it.
âWhy not both?â
Another whistle was heard for the girls and Max let out a laugh while shaking her head.
âShould I kill those guys?â JJ asked after looking back hoping to see the guys who just whistled at his girlfriend.
âJJ, itâs just a joke. Donât worry about it.â Max said, but all that was going around JJâs head right on that moment was jealousy. Like it went away, it came back. All those eyes on Max was making his insides burn, he wanted to grab Max and tell all those guys that she was his, and nobody elseâs.
âDo you think the principal knows about it?â Pope asked when Max turned to him.
âProbably.â She nodded.
âWhat are you gonna do if they caught you?â John B asked this time, leaving his phone on his back pocket.
âThey wonât.â The moment Sam and Max said those words at the same time they looked at each other with a smile and fists bumped each other.
âWhat? What is that?â The voice of the principal hit their ears and they all turned to it. Principal Johnson was looking at the picture and then tried to take it down, but it was so strongly gripped into the wall that not even with his whole strength he was able to take it down. The whole group of people at the hallway was trying so hard not to laugh and make the situation worst. âWho did this?!â He yelled angrily. âIâll caught whoever did it!â He started walking closer to where JJ and his friend were and then locked eyes with him and then with Max. âThey wonât get away with it!â He pointed at them and then disappeared from their sights.
âOh, we will.â Max said almost in a whisper when the entire hallway bursted out in laughter.
The moment that they all stepped in the tiny backyard behind school after their morning classes, they all headed to an empty table to start with their favorite part of high school, lunch. JJ was following Max up close, with his feet right behind her trying to listen to her conversation with the guys and Sam, but he couldnât seem to focus on their words since he first noticed all the eyes on Max. He never minded Max having eyes on her since she always had, she wasnât somebody that would pass unnoticed, she was Max Belinsky, everyone knew her. But for some reason, this time JJ wasnât brushing it off. The feeling in his stomach wasnât going away the moment he grabbed her waist and pulled her closer like it would usually go, this time, no matter what he did, that annoying feeling was still inside of him, making him burn every second that was passing.
âI heard the took the picture down.â He heard John B saying once they were all sitting down with their lunches in front of them.
âBummer.â Sam said shaking her head but not giving much thought into it.
âDid the principal talked to you guys?â Pope asked intrigued.
âNope.â Sam said after giving a big bite to her sandwich.
âThereâs no evidence we did it.â Max said like nothing. âNo cameras, no pictures, nothing. As far as they know, we the didnât even show up at the game last weekend.â
âWe were working at my dadâs shop.â
âHow did you guys even got the picture there?â John B asked.
Max and Sam didnât respond immediately, they looked at each other and let out tiny proud smiles. âWe have friends everywhere, dude.â Max said and then turned to her boyfriend, who was being strangely quiet.
He wasnât looking at his friends or even at his lunch. He was looking everywhere expect in front of him, he seemed uncomfortable and that made Max raised her eyebrows confused.
âHey, you alright?â She asked when he finallt turned to her.
âYeah, yeah.â He quickly nodded, not wanting to alert Max by facing his lunch and focusing his eyes on it. But his mind wasnât there at all. He couldnât stop thinking about all those eyes on her. Yes, some of them where on Sam too, but his mind didnât seem to care about that. His mind was focusing on torturing him with the fact that she had the attention of guys, guys that were thinking about her in ways that made JJâs body fill with anger. He wanted to think so hard that Max wasnât going to do anything with their attention, she didnât give a fuck at all. JJ knew that. JJ knew that Max loved him, like he loved her. But he was used to being left behind, being forgotten, he spent his entire life feeling that and being left by people he cared deeply. What made Max different?
âGuys.â Sam said when the bell rang and they all were heading outside the school to start their day. âKie just texted me, she says sheâs at the Wreck, do you guys wanna go?â
âSure!â Pope said with a smile.
As soon as the wind hit JJâs face he looked up while his hands were inside his pocket to look at his girlfriend. Max had a little smile on her face when Sam showed her something funny on her phone. They all stopped when Pope wanted to see it too and that made a group of people starte at them, more specifically, to Max and Sam. Those guys started to stare at them while they were whispering each other. It wasnât bothering JJ like it was doing it before, but when one of the guys turned his eyes to Max and looked at her up and down, the fire on his stomach felt like a volcano erupting. He clenched his jawline and tried to control the urge of going and punching that guy on the throat. He couldnât do anything about it, and that was killing him inside.
âReady to go?â Max asked him making JJ turned to her. He needed to clear his mind, and he knew the perfect place for it.
âIâm not going.â He said softly taking a step back when all of his friends turned to him.
âWhere are you going?â Max asked confused.
âSurfing.â
âIâll go with you then.â
A smile appeared on Maxâs face but when JJ shook his head, it disappeared. âNo.â He said dryly. He didnât know why he was being that way towards Max, it wasnât her fault that she had eyes on her, she couldnât control that. But the horrible thought of her leaving him for one of those guys-
âWhat? Are you ok?â Max asked worried. She noticed the sadness on his eyes, something that she hated to see and made her heart shrunk everytime. She waited for him to answer that he was alright like he always did to try to not to worry her, but instead, he turned around ignoring her completely. âJJ! What the fuck?!â
âWhatâs up with him?â Sam asked next to Max, after JJ was far enough for him not to hear her.
âNo fucking clue,â Max shook her head confused âhe was fine this morning.â
âThen let him be.â Sam let her arm around Max to push her around and start walking to the Wreck, maybe clear her mind on what just happened, but Max couldnât do that.
The entire walk to the Wreck Max had JJ on her mind. She tried to join the conversation her friends were having but seconds later she found herself thinking about JJ again. She was worried, there was no doubt on that. But what happened to him? She always had the thought of Luke Maybank on the back of her head even if she didnât want to, or if she knew that what was happening to JJ had nothing to do with him. But since she knew what he was like, she couldnât get rid of that horrible thought.
She started playing with her fingers once she saw Kieâs restaurant getting closer. Her friends were laughing next to her but she didnât care, she wanted to check if he was alright. So when they all arrived at the Wreck, she watched her friends get into the restaurant while she stayed behind.
âWhat are you doing?â Sam asked since she noticed her best friend wasnât next to her.
âI have to check on him.â
âDude, you need to give him time. If he doesnât want you to fix whatâs wrong, then donât.â Sam said but then sighed when Max didnât respond. âAnd I know you canât do that. Go. Text me later.â
Without giving Sam an answer, she turned around when her mind started thinking of places where JJ could be. The answer was pretty clear, there was only one place where he went when something was wrong. The beach.
She hoped he was there and not somewhere else, and luckily, he was. The moment she saw that blonde hair riding the wave from a far she let out a tiny smile and headed to where he was.
âThat was nice, dude.â She said to make him look at her since he didnât look up since he stepped out of the water. But instead of looking at her, he dropped his board on the floor and started cleaning it. âMaybe I should get some practice otherwise youâll get better than me.â She said knowing that he would say something back at her, knowing him, but he didnât. He kept staring at his board and compelty ignoring Maxâs words. She bit her lower lip eating her need to tell him to fuck off, like she would usually do. Instead, she took deep sigh and crossed her arms around her chest carefully trying to think her next words. âAlright I just said that you have the chance to be better than me and I got no response? Are you sick or something?â She said in a joking tone but again, no response. Her small patience was coming to an end. âJJ, what the fuck?! Are you ignoring me?â She let out.
âIâm not.â For the first time, JJ talked but without giving her eye contact.
âOh, the guy decided to talk. It was fucking time! Whatâs up with you, man? You were fine this morning.â
âNothing is up with me.â He said normally.
âAre you joking? Did you smoke too much and now you canât see your actions?â
âIâm perfectly sober.â
âThen what the fuck is wrong?â
JJ let out a tiny fake laugh and after a long time, he locked eyes with Max. âI think you know, Max.â
Max couldnât really figure out what was going on JJâs look, they seemed like they were trying to be normal, but some sparkles of saddens and anger where on them as well. Max clearly didnât know what was that about. âNo, I donât. I canât read your mind. I wonât know whatâs wrong with you until you tell me.â She waited for him to talk but he went back to his board. âAlright! Fuck, JJ, you can be such a hard headed sometimes!â She looked at his arms moving but nothing was there. She would often do that, to check on him silently. But there was nothing there, nothing that would make her believe his dad had something to do with it. But she needed to know anyway. âYou wonât tell me whatâs wrong? You wonât or you canât tell me?â
Without waiting a second, JJ locked eyes with Max while getting up. âFor the first time, it isnât about him.â
A sign of relived appeared on Maxâs chest once she heard those words, but she still didnât know what was going with her boyfriend. âSo itâs with me. JJ, fuck! Tell me!â He shook his head and looked down to his board. âUgh, fuck you JJ, youâre acting like such a child right now.â Tired of him, she turned around to leave the beach behind, but then, JJ spoke.
âItâs just a joke, right?â
âWhat?â She went back to him confused.
âItâs just a joke.â He said softly, but she heard him perfectly. She furrowed her eyebrows confused at his words, but then like a fast truck, the memory of her prior words came into her mind.
âIs this about the picture? Is it?â She asked and him not giving her an answer, was the perfect response. âOh my god, JJ! You were fine with it this morning, what changed? Itâs just a stupid picture!â
âNo itâs not Max! Everyone saw you!â JJ elevated his tone but he didnât want to. He didnât know why he was angry at her, but at this point, he felt like he couldnât control his anger.
âSo?â
âSo?! Everyone was talking about it!â
âWhatâs your point?! You know that that happens all the time and you never had anything against it! You enjoyed that part!â All of Maxâs confusion was turning into anger and annoyance. And that wasnât a good combination.
âThis is different!â
âHow is it different?â They were now more more close to each other, but their loud tones didnât get quieter. JJ was about to open his mouth, but some guy that was walking behind them cut him off.
âHey, Max! Nice prank man! Maybe we should talk so you can show me your ways!â That was the drop of water that made the glass that was inside JJ fall. Without thinking his actions, he closed his hands into fists and looked at the guy angrily.
âYou wanna fight bro!â He took quick steps towards him, making the guy take some back.
âHey chill man!â
âJJ!â Max yelled, but that didnât seem to calm him down.
âYou better stay away from her!â He was about to grab his shirt but the guy quickly stepped back. JJ wasnât giving up, but when Max strongly grabbed his shirt and pulled him back, the guy took the chance to give himself more space between him and JJ.
âAlright, alright!â The guy yelled before turning around and leaving an angry and jealous JJ behind.
âJJ! What the fuck is wrong with you?â Max yelled with anger when he turned to her. âIs that it?! Are you jealous? Are you jealous that guys are looking at me?â
âAll those guys at school are looking at you!â He got closer to her face. âThey were looking at you like they were undressing you with their eyes, like they wanted to fuck you! And I canât fucking bare it!â
âYou know that I donât give a fuck about those people!â
âWell I give a fuck because those guys are staring at my girl! Nobody gets to look at you like that except me!â
âYouâre treating me like a fucking object that you own! I can do whatever the fuck I want!â
âNo you canât!â
Max let out a laugh. âAre you serious right now?â She said more quieter and then let out another laugh while taking a step back. âCall me when you decide to stop treating me like a fucking object, howâs that?â She turned around not wanting to hear his voice anymore, but he yelled again.
âMaybe I wonât!â
âFine!â
The moment that he saw her leaving his sight, he wanted to punch himself. It was like his mind was just now realising what he just did while his breathing was trying to go back to normal. He dropped his body to the sand and cursed at the wind. His couldnât control his anger and that made him even more disappointed with himself. That was something he would do. It wasnât JJ. Or at least, thatâs how JJ didnât want to turn out. He knew that what he said hurt her, and that she didnât want to talk to him even though she said to call her. He had the feeling that Max was going to kick his ass if she saw him that same night, so fighting his need to talk to her and apologise, he decided to give her some time and head back to the Chateau to call it a night.
The moment his back touched his bed, he felt his body relax, but he couldnât say the same about his eyes and mind. Max was all over his head while his words were playing on and on. The thought of ruining things with her caught him off guard and that made his heart beat faster and the anger he was already feeling become stronger. He closed his eyes with strength trying to calm himself down. He didnât want to lose her, he couldnât, that is what is all about. The feeling of maybe losing her made his heart drop to his stomach, his stupid jealousy made her angry and upset, and his dumb anger made the situation ever worst. It was all him.
He opened his eyes with the intention to get up and get some water, but when a noise came from his window he turned his head towards it to see someone coming through his window into his room. The moment he locked eyes with Max he noticed that she wasnât as angry as the last time he saw her and he was glad about that, but the guilt he felt didnât take a step down.
âHey.â He said while his eyes followed her getting into bed next to him.
âHey.â
âYou know itâs usually the guy who climbs the girlâs window.â He said hoping to see her smile, and luckily, she did.
âI like to switch the gender norms.â She shrugged her shoulders and then locked eyes with him once her body was comfortably next to him. She was on her side while he was on his back, but still staring at each other. âItâs nice to see you arenât ignoring me right now.â She said rolling her eyes and JJ shook his head while letting out a big sigh.
âI was such an idiot.â
âYes you were.â She quickly nodded and JJ let let out a tiny laugh. âBut so was I.â He stared at her confused but she didnât answered immediately, she got closer to him to be face to face and get the warmth his body would usually give her. âWhen I was dating my ex,â she started softly âI... sometimes I felt like I was trapped. Like I couldnât do some things because he didnât want me to do them, or he just didnât like it. I didnât realize it was bad until we were over. So I made a promise to myself to not let myself feel trapped again, and that- that takes me to do, sometimes, stuff that can have not so great consequences. But I just donât think about it, if I want to do something I do it. No matter what others think. Now I understand the way you felt, in some way, I mean if I see others girls eating you with their eyes I would want to kick their asses- I know they do, câmon, youâre hot. But I just pretend not to see because I would probably fight a girl every day.â
âI would fight a guy every minute with you.â JJ said and then grabbed her cheek with his hand. âIâm sorry, I shouldnât have yell at you like that. Youâre right, you can do whatever you want. I canât and I shouldnât stop you from doing things, itâs your life. Itâs just- having so much boys looking at you like that, it made so angry.â
âJealous.â Max corrected him and JJ nodded with a grin.
âYes, jealous.â He let out a tiny laugh. âSomehow, my brain decided to start thinking that you-â he was debating if he should tell what went through his mind te entire day, but he couldnât find the words, instead he just shrugged his shoulders. âI donât know.â
Max bit her lower lip and shook her head. âYouâre too lucky I love you because youâre being a dumbass right now.â She said and then got closer to his lips. âNo matter how many eyes are on me, no matter how many guys want to fuck me or take me to bed and even date me, all my eyes can see is your stupid ass.â As soon as she finished, she did a fake gag, which lead to JJ letting out a big laugh. âUgh, I hate being this cliche. Donât make me hurt you for making me say these things.â
âI love you too.â And there it was again. That same good feeling JJ would always have when Max was around appeared again on his chest and stomach. He didnât know what it was till this day, but what he knew is that the only person that made him feel that way was right next to him.
âDo you realize that this deep conversation happened because my ass was on a picture?â Max asked and they both let out tiny laughs.
âWith us, it doesnât surprise me. I promise I wonât get that jealous next time.â He said and then added: âIs there gonna be a next time?â He waited for Max to shake her head, but instead, a smile appeared on her face. âOh no.â
âAnd I promise to tell you next time.â She finished the sentence and without wasting another second, she ended the space between them to unite his lips with hers and enjoy that warmth they both loved so much.
âAll those guys were looking at you,â JJ started softly once the kiss was over âwere admiring you, wanting to touch you... but only I can do that.â
âYes, you are the only one.â Max nodded biting her lower lip.
âFuck yeah. Is that your girlfriendâs ass? Yes, yes it is. And Iâm the only one who gets to touch it without receiving a boot in the ass afterwards. Thatâs me. And thatâs my fucking girl.â He said taking his hand to her ass to give it a little squeeze. She smiled and got closer to him, ready to start a makeout session.
âYes I am.â She said before giving him a more heated kiss then intended. Maybe this wasnât going to be just a makeout session.
>>> you have love, you have passion, you have desire, but even with that, is it possible to overcome your dark past...?

Every Little Thing's Gonna Be Alright âą Chapter 23
Chapter 1Â - Chapter 2Â - Chapter 3Â - Chapter 4Â - Chapter 5Â - Chapter 6Â - Chapter 7Â - Chapter 8Â - Chapter 9Â - Chapter 10Â - Chapter 11Â - Chapter 12Â - Chapter 13Â - Chapter 14Â - Chapter 15Â - Chapter 16Â - Chapter 17Â - Chapter 18Â - Chapter 19Â - Chapter 20Â - Chapter 21Â - Chapter 22
A few months later the situation between Evelyn and Jack was quite stable, both of them very happy with their relationship and always doing their best to see each other as much as possible. Not everything had always been rosy, of course, sometimes distance or small misunderstandings turning into big ones had contributed to create bumps along the way. But the two of them always found a way to fix things, either in person or from a distance.
Cece continued to grow pampered by everyone, giving smiles and babbles here and there. It was impressive how much she had achieved in that time, how she could keep everyone trapped around her little finger. How much love Evelyn felt for that little creature who every day added a brick to her personal growth and development.
Another football season was coming to an end and Jack had made her a proposal she'd had a lot to think about recently. Villa's last game would be at home and not only had Jack asked her to go to the game, but also to take part in the traditional lap of honour to thank all the fans for their support during the season.
Needless to say, she had taken a few days to think about it. Taking part in the event would certainly have meant first of all making their relationship public, exposing not only her but also Cece and giving the green light to various gossips and unwanted free opinions. On the other hand, however, there was being able to spend time with him, in his world. Taking the relationship a step further.
It was in those moments that she realised that her good intention to think less and act more would be more difficult to carry out. If she could let herself loose on some things, well, there was still something of her old self that surfaced from time to time. It was always like that, she knew from the start that she would eventually go but until that day she wouldn't stop worrying about this and that, about what might happen....
As she sits on the bed keeping an eye on Cece who is playing with the puppet given to her by Ben, Jack phones her. A smile automatically forms on her face as she runs her finger across the screen to accept the call. It's time to give him an answer.
"Hey you"
"Hi. Where are you? Doesn't look like your room to me or am I wrong"
"We're in Ben's room. Apparently this girl here got bored of hers" Evelyn shifts her phone slightly to also frame Cece who continues to chew on that bear's ear she holds in her hands undisturbed.
"Who is he? Who is he? Is he Jack?" she coos as the little girl pays attention to that familiar figure she now sees regularly, waving her little legs and babbling something making Jack smile.
"Hi sweety! Hi! I miss you so much"
"So I have news for you"
"Really?"
"Don't act like you didn't call just for that" he chuckles throwing a quick glance at the calendar where the date is marked a thousand times with a black marker.
"So what did you decide?"
"Well me and my girl have been consulting a lot"
"Oh yeah?" he interrupts her smiling cheekily as he closes one hand in a fist and uses it to hold up his head.
"Yeah" she teases him sticking her tongue out at him as Cece starts opening and closing her hand to greet him.
"Ha ha she doesn't like it when you're a smartass. Tell him we're not going anymore"
"That's not true!" his voice almost covers the last part of what she's saying but in reality he's understood all too well that in a few days he'll be able to hold them both again, and the smile on his face cancels out the poor attempt to claim he's offended.
"Say bye bye to Jack"
"Nah she likes me"
"To sleep, sure. I'm a little jealous to be honest she has the blanket with your scent on it though"
"You have me" he promptly replies as she bites her lip moving her gaze out of the camera frame.
And they continue to talk as they always do, the confirmation took a load off both of them, with Jack most of the time just watching the two girls while Evelyn plays with Cece wishing time could move faster. Until they are forced to interrupt the conversation due to a nappy change and the little one has already hit her with the puppet a couple of times.
-
Evelyn and Cece arrived at Jack's a few days before the last game of the season. He has promised that sooner or later they will also be able to get out of that house and maybe take a walk in the park taking advantage of the beautiful days the weather is offering, but the first few days are for him and no one else.
He comes home after the last training session of the season a little later than usual because he stopped for a little extra with some teammates and finds no one downstairs. As he goes upstairs, however, Evelyn's voice and Cece's little cries become more and more indistinct enough to take him to his room, and when he opens that door he can't help but smile. The two of them are playing tenderly with Evelyn leaning over to kiss the little one's tummy and the baby laughing moving her tiny hands, closing her fists around her mommy's hair.
He can't help himself when Cece won't let go of a lock of Evelyn's hair causing her to moan, laughing and blowing his cover. Evelyn looks up at him immediately lighting up and signalling for him to come closer.
"We have a surprise for you" she tells him and his curiosity immediately ignites so much that he almost runs making those few steps that separate him from the bed.
"What is it?" Evelyn simply shifts her gaze between him and the girl wanting to point at something and he after a moment gets the message by lowering his gaze, his eyes immediately falling on the Villa crest and wandering over the small kit trying to find differences from the usual. But it's only when Cece rolls onto her side, showing part of the Grealish name on her back, that he swears his heart has stopped beating for a few moments.
Cece's kit had always been plain, no name no number on the back. Evelyn had always felt on the edge for a choice that was so simple on the outside but actually brought up so many questions. Should she have had 'Daddy' written on it? No it was too soon. What did Jack think, was it too much? And again, does using his surname mean forcing him to take responsibility? What are we? Geez, the fight with her madness was really open.
And it was Jack who had then put an end to her paranoia, as always, and bought a small plain kit, giving her further time to clear her head and be satisfied with the fact that for the time being she would still wear the kit while supporting the team he played for.
"Since we're only going to see each other tomorrow when the game is over, we made a preview just for you" Evelyn pulled him back into the room and he reached out to the little girl taking her in his arms.
"Probably for the best or Jack would have cried in front of the whole stadium. Don't you think so too?" he murmurs cuddling the little girl, who seems to just want to reach up his nose, under Evelyn's tender gaze.
"I can't wait for tomorrow now. I mean look at this!" Jack lifts her up in the air like in the Lion King scene so he can look at that name once more and Evelyn can't help but laugh at the boy's excitement, happy it was the right choice after months.
The atmosphere in the stadium is something sensational, but she wouldn't have expected less to be honest. That's how it is when someone cares about a team, you stick together through thick and thin. It's a mutual kind of love. It doesn't matter if the previous week went well or badly, every time you try to do your best on one side and show all the support on the other. And that season for Villa had not gone badly at all, no one's fate depended on that game but it was still an opportunity and should be taken as such.
That hour and a half passed between watching something of the game, entertaining Cece, chatting with some of the girls she had already met in the previous months until the final whistle blew and little by little everyone began to prepare to take the field. Having fulfilled their duties more or less, even the players can finally allow themselves to relax. Jack is quick to find them and take Cece in his arms leaving her a loud kiss on the cheek, happy for the win and the moment.
"Ready?" Evelyn just nods, following Jack around the field but still remaining a little on the sidelines allowing him to do what he needs to do, greet the fans and enjoy the moment. More than ever she can understand when both he and her brother referred to those people as a second family, seeing them all gathered there happy and smiling joking with each other or playing with their kids. Everyone seems to know everyone, everyone is nice to everyone and she really has a good time getting to know this new family.
Once home and having put Cece to bed, who had fallen asleep in the midst of all the commotion, the two of them enjoy a moment alone snuggled up on the sofa.
"Today was nice"
"Evelyn" Jack sighs and she waits for him to continue, but when that doesn't happen she lifts her head from his chest meeting his eyes, "Move in here"
"What? Are you sure? Just know it's different from having us here only once in a while"
"I want everything. I want you here every day when I wake up or when I go to sleep. I want you here to cheer me up or have fun together. I want to live both of you every day, I want to be part of your lives fully, make this our home and I don't want to worry anymore that you might leave. I want to give you everything I'm capable of and build something strong with you" Jack strokes her cheek softly.
"So what do you say?"
----
I just want to let you know that there won't be a chapter next week, I need to focus on something else but I'll be back for the last chapters normally then. In the meantime I hope you enjoyed this one x
