"Ummm making a fictional character supporter of Palestine is insane, are you stupid 🤓" like no? Maybe they are stupid and there's definitely something wrong with them, not you. Yes Spock is Jewish coded and played by a Jewish actor but what does that have to do with anything? Should you male him like, support the genocide? I don't think so...
Also again, at the end of the day he is a fictional character.
Yep! also people always made fictional character oppose whatever the batshit evil there are at the time, like superman literally beat hitler a couple of times in the comics
Tumblr media
Plus Spock literally did fough fucking nazis in the series itself
PLUSSSS if my little fanart will make people help palestinians, then why not make this little fanart?

Jonathan Glazer at last years Oscars, just recently Tilda Swinton at Berlin Film Festival, we'll need more of you. One award winning acceptance speech after another. Till this world is ridden of warmongering, racist, colonialist, imperialist, genocidal, apartheid like policies and politicians worldwide, we will not have peace or justice of any kind. Hats off to all the filmmakers, actors and actresses from the film world so eloquently speaking out. Silence is also complicity. The upcoming Academy Awards will be another test of humanity and bravery. Whoever dares to speak out...I'm seriously at a point where i dont even bother watching, attending, participating in any projects whatsoever that involve warmongering cheerleaders in the film business (its pretty obvious by now who they are). Not a single penny out of my pocket will ever go to them (again). Let them feel financially the consequences of their disgusting agenda. Since i have not seen a single case of anyone regretting signing those letters of support for Israel (totally disregarding decades of their own crimes and policies that led to much bigger civilian deaths than anything done by any other "terror" group, plus state terrorism has caused much more suffering worldwide) i can only assume they are all still fully behind US foreign policy (and whatever their military or even police does) and the crimes done in their name. Maybe if their fanbase eventually turns against them, they would probably rethink their stance. But doing it for financial reasons instead of principles would be just admitting they've failed as human beings. I really hope and believe history will judge them accordingly.
Let me add this important quote from another award winning filmmaker in last years Venice film festival, Sarah Friendland (words that should haunt some people for the remainders of their careers):
“As a Jewish American artist working in a time-based medium, I must note, I'm accepting this award on the 336th day of Israel's genocide in Gaza and 76th year of occupation. I believe it is our responsibility as filmmakers to use the institutional platforms through which we work to redress Israel's impunity on the global stage. I stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and their struggle for liberation.”
Personally i'd also add USA (both major parties!) in this context of impunity on the global stage. Its been the key enabler of it all on almost every possible level (financially, military, politically). What they do on the United Nations level alone is a crime of itself along with all the votes and the faces put behind it. I always questioned the "spreading democracy worldwide" mantra. Now we've all seen thru countless instances worldwide the hypocrisy and lies behind it without anyone ever being held accountable for it. USA has also failed on international level. To a horrifying degree. Wake up folks, before its too late. Complete and radical overhaul of the political system (and dismantling the lobbies behind it) will be a necessity if we ever want to see changes. Until then, intensifying the activism and speaking out on every single stage and using every single opportunity to voice the disgust and opposition will be a must for anyone that cares about justice and true equality. So many talented, intelligent, creative and original artists getting key awards for their work and speaking out can't be wrong, can they?
I'm so disgusted by it all i totally abandoned most of social media (it was a miracle i even stumbled upon Tilda's speech) Twitter/x will never see me again, Facebook is a waste of time, instagram is also owned by Meta, whose owner is part of the problem with censoring anyone that doesnt follow his personal agenda (Zuckerberg is just a refurbished version of Musk and is just as dangerous for silencing the dissenting voices), even here i see less and less desire to engage. I will never be consumed by hate (as tempting as it sometimes is when i see what happens) but enraged i am and i wil never be quiet about it even if it means that those who have been reading this expecting only purely film related stuff devoid of any social or political commentary abandon me. My activism will define me for the remainder or my life. I must do it for grandpa who was sent to a German concentration camp Dachau during WW2 and experienced all the nazi horrors that have been used decades later as an excuse (blank cheque) to do the same to other people of another religion. Which in itself is profoundly sad and disturbing. Makes you fundamentally question humanity. Just to be clear, this is not purely about Israel. It is just as much about USA. And to a degree also countries like UK, France and Germany and their disgusting treatment of dissent (even in media that once pretended to be selfcritical, BBC and NYT reaching their lowest point in history). Its all a culmination of everything that is wrong with this world. Its easy to point to countries like North Korea or Iran being a problem and mocking their leaders or regimes. But what happens when your own supposed "democratic" country has become in many ways a charicature of it. Including the elected leaders. The irony of it all.

It makes me happy to hear that some people are interested in the Jewish Zine.
Obviously, it's still early and details are always prone to change, but main desires are the following:
Zine will be available in print and digital form. Digital may be cheaper and more convenient, but I like the permanence of a physical copy. Digital can be too ephemeral - not to mention, sites can easily be hacked or manipulated by trolls or bad actors, which I'd like to avoid if I can. Plus, if we have extra copies, maybe I could donate them to local teen Jewish organizations. Which means that, yeah, unfortunately, the work can't be any spicier than PG-13 (sorry!)
The Zine will be Zionist-friendly. This is a big one and I imagine it will be the most contentious issue. But the reason why I wanted to make this zine was because it annoyed me how gentiles would take Jewish characters and draw fanart of them saying things like "From the river to the sea..." I want this zine to be a reclamation of our work and our participation in fandom. Our fictional characters aren't there to be your 'good Jews' either.
This will be a Zine for Jews, by Jews. Analysis, headcanons, fanfic, fanart, gen, shippy, etc - whatever you want. So long as the material has Jewish themes, it's all good.
I'm still figuring things out and seeing who will work on a team with me. I do not have Zine experience, personally, but I have friends who do and I want to make something really special. Something that says "We are here and we matter."
A lot of us have been facing antisemitism in fandom spaces. A lot of us have been feeling alienated from places that we used to enjoy participating in. That's why I want this Zine to be multi-fandom, so we can all celebrate our work and support each other.

NJCS 2024 Round One Eliminated Contestants (Part 1/2)
Toby Ziegler Status: Canon Jew Oh, Toby. I just can’t quit nominating you. Eagle eyed voters might remember his round one defeat last time he competed back in 2022, where he went up against Bucky Barnes. What do we think, folks? Would Josh Lyman make a better Aaron Sorkin-verse nominee? Or is my favorite turn of the millennium political escapism drama just not cut out for the high-stakes world of Tumblr tournaments? If you haven’t had a chance to watch The West Wing before, do yourselves a favor and watch it. Still bitter it’s not on Netflix anymore, but what can you do.
Han Solo Status: Transitive Jew Fun fact, Harrison Ford is Jewish! I love this one quote he said at an interview for Inside the Actor’s Studio a few decades back, “as a man, I’ve always felt Irish, as an actor I’ve always felt Jewish.” There’s something so cathartic about knowing a Jewish man gets to beat up Nazis in Indiana Jones. So why Han Solo? I’ll leave that up to you, dear readers, to deliberate. Note to self: watch Frisco Kid.
Richie Lipschitz Status: Coded Jew Riiiiiichie………. He’s not canon, but with a last name like Lipschitz, it would have to be proven otherwise. Go Nighthawks!
Ella of Frell Status: Coded Jew She questions authority. She longs for her freedom from a restrictive system. And she’s written by a Jewish woman (Gail Carson Levine!) What’s not to love about Jewish Ella? And there’s something so Jewish about the movie… maybe it’s the musical numbers. And while Anne Hathaway isn’t Jewish (and has played Jews in the past, like in Armageddon Time, making her one of the subjects of the Jewface debate in Hollywood right now), the coding inherent in any story written by a Jewish author is enough to validate any Jewish reading of this story, in print or on screen.
Professor Hershel Layton Status: Practically Canon Jew HERSHEL!!! I mean, how could he NOT be Jewish with a name like that?
Barney Guttman Status: Canon Jew So canonically Jewish that it’s practically screamed from the mountaintops! I absolutely adore this quote from Hamish Steele, the creator of the series. “… I actually think a lot of Zack’s mannerisms and personality influenced Barney. And when I just filled out the role in the comics, it just made sense to make him Jewish — in each version of the show, the characters become more like real people and more set in the real world. … All of the representation on the show, it never came from box-ticking. The show is set in the real world. It’s disingenuous not to represent the real world by representing all the people.” Plus, his last name is Guttman. Guttman!
Grace Adler Status: Canon Jew Check out this interview Kveller did with Debra Messing! There’s some great details about the Judaism of Will & Grace at the top, but the whole thing is worth a read.
Lexi Howard Status: Canon Jew Played by Maude Apatow, Lexi would already qualify based on the transitive property. And that’s where it would be left, that is, if not for a short conversation featured in the season two premiere, where she talks to Fez at the New Years Party. Here’s an excerpt:
Tumblr media
When I first heard this exchange (while watching a YouTuber react to the episode), I grinned so hard. Doesn’t hurt either that Euphoria is based on an Israeli program of the same name. Which I’m realizing I reeeeeally should try and stream.

I'm Better Than You and You Know It.
It wasn't just a catchphrase for Max. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth and possessing charm as well as an array of talent, he certainly had a healthy ego. Growing up he had wanted to be a singer and a wrestler. His father thought for sure he would be a football player but while he was good enough to go pro, it wasn't something he wanted to do.
Life wasn't always a bed of roses for Max though. He was bullied as a kids for being Jewish and having ADHD. A weaker person would have let that stall their dreams but not Max. He used their hate as fuel to drive him to succeed and shove it back in their faces. He hit the Wrestling Indpendent scene and never looked back. Sure he still loved to sing but he found ways to incorporate it into his wrestling here and there. He joined AEW from it's start and never looked back. Wrestling gave him a chance to wrestle, talk (which he loved to do and was easily one of the best promo people in the business. No one wants MJF to cut a promo on them because he's ruthless and will tear you to shreds verbally) sing and act.
The acting world took notice and Max soon was cast in movies, one after the other. The Iron Claw, Happy Gilmore 2, Stranglehold and The Floaters. He also did voice overs in some animated shows. On the Iron Claw he had a part as well as was an executive producer and helped the actors with the wrestling scenes.
Not bad for a twenty eight year old that his schoolmates used to bully. The world was his and he was taking it.
Tyler Hoechlin and him are close friends and he tells him everything. Another close male friend is Seth Green. He does have female friends too, he counts Ashley Benson as a friend after working with her on Stranglehold.
His personal life has had more downs then ups due to him being a workaholic. Wrestling has always been his mistress and he found it hard to juggle a relationship try to make his mark in the wrestling world. He's had a few failed romances and a failed engagement. Surprisingly enough he started randomly talking to Sabrina Carpenter and they hit it off. She didn't judge him for being a wrestler or try to use his name to further her career unlike the women in his past. It was nice to be able to relax around her plus she liked his jokes and badass attitude. Max may play an asshole in wrestling but he's a gentleman outside the ring, treating her as an woman should be treated. When you like someone you, you make time for them and that's exactly what he did as he dropped everything to take her out on a date. She was gorgeous but she wasn't a piece of meat and he made sure she knew that he liked her for her and her alone. He hated men that only cared about what they could get from a woman. He was raised better than that and being the only boy with two sisters, he respected women and made sure no one treated them badly around him. He found out she was seeing Chris Evans too and jokingly threatened to take him out. She asked him not to so maybe she really likes Chris but he's watching him. If she wants more than what her and Max have then he's ready to give her that but he will always be her friend no matter what.
Max and Sabrina's first date was January 11th 2025. Max and Sabrina officially became a couple on March 20th 2025. Max and Sabrina got pretend married on April 18th, 2025.
Friedman being from Long Island, is a fan of the New York Giants, New York Mets, and the New York Islanders.

Egon and sleep
The Ghostbusters and Holidays (what do they celebrate?)
@moonbeamelf @amalthea9 @bixiebeet @spengnitzed
01º In the original movie and the animated series The Real Ghostbusters, he was shown sleeping in the same room in the Firehouse with the other Ghostbusters, each in their bed, while dealing with the fact that a call for help would wake them up more early then they wished.
While the IDW Publishing Comics, there is a recurring joke that he can be so focused on his work in the lab that if he sleeps, nobody ever has seen it.
Considering how much sugar snacks he eats in the first movie, no wonder if he had more dificulty to sleep compared to his friend. Janine likely introduced him to enjoying calming teas like linden to help him calm down.
I can imagine that when Noemi is born, Egon join her during nap times holding her like a teddy bear.
(like in this picture of his original actor, Harold Ramis, with his them baby daughter Violet)
Tumblr media
02º In the Real Ghostbusters episode XMas Marks the Spot, which was a retelling of Charles Dinkens A Christmas Carol, Peter acts less excited about Christmas because as a child, his father was working in a get rich quickly scheme during that season and so never spend it with his family.
Tumblr media
On their way back to the Firehouse, the Ghostbusters cross a time and space travelling portal and end in 19th century England, where they mistakenly bust the Three Christmas Ghosts. This makes Ebenezer Scrooge unnable to learn the moral lesson the Ghosts were meant to teach him, and he writes a book called "Christmas, Humbug", wich becomes so popular that turns all people in present time into a bunch of scrooges. To fix that, Egon has to enter the Containment Unit to rescue the newly imprisoned thrio, while Peter, Ray and Winston travel back in time to play the role of the Three Christmas Ghosts.
Peter plays the role of the Ghost of Christmas Past:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Winston plays the role of the Ghost of Christmas Present:
Tumblr media
And Ray plays the role of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come:
Tumblr media
They save a literary classic and people's love for Christmas, and Peter gains an apreciation for the holliday.
Besides that, Peter has the vibe of liking hollidays that are the perfect excuse to get drunk: Fourth of July (the US Independence Day, when people make barbecues and picnics and release fireworks), Mardi Grass (american Carnaval), Saint Patrick's Day and Oktoberfest.
Ray was raised catholic acording to the video game, so he probably has an emotional connection with Catholic Hollidays like Christmas, Lent, Easter and Corpus Christ, and also, considering his passion for spooky stories, really enjoys Halloween.
Winston is a devout baptist christian and may have deep toughts on patriotism due to his time in the Military, so his favorite hollidays may be the Fourth of July, Flag Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, and he may have relatives whom he visits to celebrate the African-American holliday of Kwanzaa.
Egon is frequently headcanoned as jewish, so he probably has more affinity to the jewish hollidays of Passover, Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashana, and will frequently remind non jewish people that Hannukah is not "jewish Christmas" and is in fact a minor holliday in the jewish calendar.
Janine seems likely to have come from a mixed faith family, half-Jewish, half-Christian, and XMas Marks the Spot tells that she loves Christmas, so she probably celebrate the hollidays from both faiths. Besides loving the same three main jewish hollidays that Egon does, you can always count on her to make a beautifull sukkah for Sukkot, and she loves dressing up as Queen Esther and make hamantashen for Purim. Plus, she thanks your kindness in giving her a Valentine's Day present (after all Janine is a big romantic).

Appearances: Harry Potter Ensemble - Pt 1.
So. As someone who writes a lot of fanfic, I don't always decide to borrow directly from the source material for the appearances of the characters. I'll admit that my canon compliance for that can be tangential at best; mostly down to hair and eye colour, whilst everything else is different. This can lead to some confusion in my fics, because my worst sin in this regard that i'm inconsistent in how I portray them. I have multiple fcs and sims of characters, and I sort of just swap between them at whim. So this is a masterpost list of all the different appearances each portrayal of the HP ensemble cast I use. I'll also try and say which fics I pictured as which faces, because why not.
Let's get started, shall we?
Harry Potter. [+ James Potter, because they're meant to be almost identical.]
First, we'll go with documenting the protagonist.
For a canon-compliant Harry, I made this artbreeder a while ago;
Tumblr media
Lord above that's ginormous. Anyway. I'm not, like, 100% happy with this, but here it is.
Tumblr media
As may be a fairly obvious choice, my main fc for Harry is Darren Criss. He does a great job fitting the visual aspect of Harry, and an even better job of him being identical to his father; Darren Criss makes a perfect James Potter. All you need to do is watch AVP to know that one.
Tumblr media
And, as a sidenote; Look at them <3 this is the golden trio, right here!! Sure, Ron's a bit off, not tall enough, nose not long enough, but he works really well for the role, so I don't care.
Tumblr media
But he does a pretty good broody harry, too, so I tend to think Darren Criss when I think Harry James Potter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again; for a slightly more book compliant Harry (aka; a wholly white Harry) there's a young Peter Capaldi. In these pics specifically, lol.
James Potter by Michelle-Winer on DeviantArt <- there's also this depiction of James as the actor for Will Graham from Hannibal, which works pretty damn well for both James and Harry.
Unfortunately, people don't credit as often as they should on Pinterest; (1) Pinterest this is a very good James, and if anyone happens to know who drew it, that's really necessary to know. He looks just like my James sim, fr. Took the image right from my brain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He looks a little less like his dad and more like his mum here, which is Incorrect, but I still like these sims.
Ron Weasley.
Next up on the list is Ron.
Tumblr media
I made this artbreeder a while ago. I think this is basically perfect, and looks exactly like how I think of him, except the nose is too short.
The blog is gone, but this art by xia-hainex has always been my favourite Ron fanart.
Tumblr media
I'm very picky about Ron's face. I don't have an actor fc for him.
Tumblr media
But I do have a sim :). You can see the influence, lol.
Hermione Granger.
Hermione has the most fcs out of the Golden Trio. 5 in total. First, her more canon-compliant artbreeder;
Tumblr media
Next; those five fcs.
First up; a duo of fcs - one for her younger years, and one for that version's older years. Ella Eyre + Stevvi Alexander.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, as shown above, there's always Bonne Gruesen, who played her in AVP. Which, as you can see, was an image that held a lot of mix dominance in the artbreeder (which I did through combining various images of these five women, plus some general tweaks.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nathalie Emmanuel is a version where Hermione kept the buck teeth :D. Would mostly be used in muggle AUs.
Tumblr media
But this ^ really does look like book 7 Hermione during the horcrux hunt, don't you think?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grace Byers is a bit glamorous for Hermione, I'll admit. Sometimes I use her for her mother, instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elarica Johnson is the final fc option for HG, very similar to Nathalie Emmanuel. If I were to give HG a sister, she'd probably end up with Elarica whilst Hermione keeps Nathalie. Also an option for her mother, I suppose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because I should mention this; I often use Hayley Law for Mrs. [heacanon name: Eudora] Granger. I haven't actually got an fc for her dad, but the one consistent thing about him is that he's Jewish, but he can be european or african or middle eastern or whatever, I don't care about that part. (Same, really, for Mrs. Granger. The one prerequisite I suppose is that they not match; my Hermione is biracial, and has the specific complication of passing as (depending on the person guessing) either ethnically White British or solely Ashkenazi Jewish, even if her father is not that. Most people miss the black half of her ancestry if they never meet her parents. And, to note, thanks to the schools she was sent to and the care her family took, Hermione has never experienced explicit racism towards herself, and her first personal exposure to prejudice is the whole Muggleborn mistreatment thing. It hits her pretty hard :(.)
[And, to note; I know that my Hermione's ancestry does not match the ancestry of the FCs, and that the situation regarding... all that doesn't really work with some of them, but I'm also not really happy with any one of these, particularly. Hermione's always been the one I find hardest to cast, because my thoughts are so specific but not... exactly refined.]
Tumblr media
This is my sim of her, which of course matches what's in my head better than any fc ever realistically could. She's also pretty close to the artbreeder, just, you know, better. Because it's not ai generated. (I tend to use artbreeder as a visual aid when creating the base ideas for things, nothing more.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her mum and dad, for reference.
And that's the GT, so. Onto the next part! [For those wondering; I will keep hitting the image limit, doing this, so need to move on once I do.]

hi! hope you're doing well. i got a question for you about the what if with marc's funeral, if that's okay, and please let me know if i'm missing the mark or overstepping in any way. as a jewish guy, seeing a non-jewish funeral kinda felt bad to me. like marc was already buried, no one who loved him or knew him participated in the burial, and yes the heroes wore their gear instead of traditional mourning clothing, but putting a star of david on the tombstone felt like an afterthought. marlene's 'may your memory be a blessing' was nice, seeing gena and the kids and crawly was like yes those are his people! but overall idk the setup and eulogy wasn't working for me. tldr my question is, what's your take on marc's funeral?
Hey! Thanks for stopping by! I guess before I say anything I should preface this by mentioning that I’m honestly just some dude on the internet and I really shouldn’t be considered an authority on anything. I’ve just read an unfortunately large number of comics and while I do dedicate a lot of time to learning as much as I can about anything, I definitely shouldn’t be considered an expert on matters as richly complex and integral to people’s very identities as religion or culture. In other words, I definitely appreciate you starting this conversation, but I really can’t offer anything more than a personal opinion that everyone should just take with a grain of salt.
But!!! thank you for sending this message, because, yeah, I realize that sometimes I can get so swept up in any writer even acknowledging that Marc is Jewish that I forget that, “oh yeah, this could be better and we should be well past the age where we had to hope for even the barest crumbs of representation.”
Accordingly, I fully see where you’re coming from and you’re probably right in that there was more the writer could have done. Even as I write that though, I can already hear the long list of excuses that could be made by devil’s advocates about why Marc’s funeral in What If…? Dark: Moon Knight was presented as it was. Most probably could be pretty easily refuted by anyone that wants better from the comic industry, but, hey, that’s comics: they thrive on intense, impassioned reader discussion and can somehow be ahead of their time in terms of cultural sensitivity AND painfully slow in breaking out of some really poor ways of depicting cultures, races, and religions.
[Putting in a read more because this got a little long (sorry all, mea culpa)]
But yeah, some of those excuses I can imagine include, first among them, space limitations. The creators had one page to depict the funeral in the single issue allotted to telling Marlene’s story of becoming Luminary. People could easily say something offhand and questionable like, “oh yeah, Marc’s mom sat shiva, but it all happened off panel,” but that explanation always feels a little cheap to me, as I know for fact that comic artists can get very creative with how they format a page to include critical information, but, eh, there it is.
Some people in these situations sometimes bring up the point that authors that share a background with the characters they depict can approach matters with a good understanding of what’s appropriate/significant. I can see the validity of that approach, but from the (admittedly brief) research I did, I haven’t found any conclusive statements on the writer’s background at least and I personally would rather not make any assumptions/speculations. (Again, that’s strictly a personal thing, because in my line of work, I come across a lot of bad actors who, from their perspective, “““accuse””” people of being certain races or ethnic backgrounds and I am,,,,very tired). Plus, that’s not necessarily a cure all, at least that’s what I’ve gathered from the heated debates on Bemis’ Moon Knight run that I still stumble upon on occasion.
The next thing that comes to mind, well, I don’t want to sound like I’m entirely absolving the creators since, sure, they probably could have done more, but I’m so used to grappling with the bad hands comic books deal me, that sometimes I propose what I guess could be referred to as Watsonian interpretations??? Like, yeah, this was ultimately written like this because creators are flawed, but I cope by trying to puzzle out in-universe explanations. In this case, I see this as potentially being some sort of hazy, not quite well constructed, reflection of Marc’s complex relationship with his background that characterized his adult life. Elias Spector, who frequently represents Marc’s connection to his past and how he wrestles with really complex questions of religion and identity, is dead by this point of time in both of Marc’s established origins, and while I am sure the organizers of Marc’s funeral, like Marlene and Frenchie, fully and deeply loved him, I’m just not sure if Marc ever communicated to them what they should specifically do for his funeral (fully traditional or as small/nondescript as possible if he even thought he deserved/would get a funeral), as enigmatic and….not always forthcoming in discussing such matters Marc circa Marc Spector: Moon Knight was, so they did their best.
But gosh, even as I write that out, that’s such a load of copium. I’ll admit that my fondness for the comic book genre results in me desperately trying to hammer something worthwhile out of sometimes (or frequently????) mediocre material, so thanks again for sharing your thoughts! You are well and away within your rights to not be satisfied with how the matter was handled and I know I thoroughly appreciate your critical eye. Arguably, it is only by such a capacity for critique that the industry will ever shake off some of its worst aspects that still haunt it and evolve into something really consistently worthwhile.

Watch "How Could This Happen to Us?" on YouTube
youtube
Leftism has been building in strength since the 1960s. University has been their breeding ground. Is it any wonder that they have become ground zero for atrocities?
A side note. It was understood back when I was studying science that science had stalled.
Tumblr media
We had had an incredible period of growth. But the best of it was past. At the time, computer miniaturization was the last bastion of rapid development.
But even in the 90s, we knew it could not last, and it didn't.
Tumblr media
I don't know of anyone who is excited by CPU speeds now. In perspective, people had to replace their computer every year because the processor was outdated, and forward compatibility was a selling point.
Nowadays, what is the selling point? The keyboard has pretty lights.
Tumblr media
Wow, look at the flashing lights! You will impress everyone with how the lights flash. And the colours change! Wow!
Tumblr media
The really sad thing is that software devs know it, and don't bother taking advantage of all the processors etc. Why bother? It will just overheat anyway.
Without some huge breakthrough, development has stalled. We are moving at a snails pace compared to the past.
So why are we not producing brilliant scientists?
I think the answer is that the education system has been retooled to create violent activists.
If you believe reality is a social construct, then how can you do research? There's no such thing as objective truth. It's just a matter of controlling minds and stifling dissent, and Utopia follows.
Ask most university students to define what a woman is, and they can't meaningfully answer. The answer is whatever the powerful say it is. One plus one equals three, or five, or whatever the WEF decides on the day.
Physics cannot function in that environment. It's only a matter of time until they corrupt engineering, too. Our civilization will fall apart.
Tumblr media
We've already seen the impacts on Los Angeles as the writers and actors guilds force a shutdown of the economy.
Imagine what it will be like when the builders of bridges are given jobs based on being able to name ten thousand genders? When sex and race and sexuality, not merit, determine who runs a nuclear power plant?
Tumblr media
The rot of Leftism is going to take generations to overcome, even assuming the Chinese are so polite as to not invade us while we are weakened. And Islamism is already taking advantage, taking cities like London and Paris without a shot fired.
Science prospered when science was hard and dry, and mostly done by autistic nerdy men with little else in their lives.
Tumblr media
Today, universities don't boast of academic excellence, but of how they are run by and for women.
Women, who I can't help but notice, don't invent anything.
Tumblr media
Without new physics, we don't get new advancement. You need the theoretical to create practical innovation. But the education system doesn't promote that at all.
Tumblr media
Because it sees that men are better at this, and it is mostly Asians, Jewish and white men with no interest in politics that lead the field and always have.
Therefore physics is bad and racist and sexist and Patriarchy.
So who do they push instead? What actual female scientists do they promote?
I notice they tend to either give the achievements of men to a woman (like with Ada Lovelace) or they erase the woman who won't fit into the leftist box - Marie Curie, who adored her husband, for example.

Good morning Alice!!! I remember the pain of 2008, too. Scab writers who didn't know the character bibles destroyed some of my favorite characters!!!!
I still hope for an October resolution also, but I am getting worried. Luckily, Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom have been getting involved. The early projections of loss for my state is 600 billion, but we all know it's more than that. I was there last week for work, and places that should have been bustling are completely dead. Plus, a lot of people in the industry are unable to collect unemployment and have to borrow from the unions. This after just getting back ahead after the pandemic.
I agree about the quality of waiting till September. But for everyone from the restaurant workers around there to the stage employees, costume people ext..... I wouldn't mind if maybe they did a soft 8 episodes. Like just to test and see their new brand. Just don't make big decisions!!!! I just can't wait for it all to be over. It really is hard when shipping is my favorite hobby!
I hope your treatment is going well!!! Staying safe and feeling good. Sending you lots of love from CA!!! On an exciting note, I just mailed out all the Jewish Film Festival invites. Had a lovely dinner with the beautiful ladies and checked out the movie list. The fall festival is my favorite time of year for sure!!
My lovely! *hugs* Always so good to hear from you!
Thank you for bringing up others being affected by the strikes, too. It's important to remember them and how many people are being hurt by the AMPTP's greed. That said, while I fully support every demand the writers and actors are presenting, I think the most important ones are about AI. We're facing a new technology that is not yet regulated and that WILL affect workers in almost every single domain, as well as non-workers (since apparently apps like Zoom can now reserve the right to use your voice and your likeness once you use them). I feel like forcing those who want to use AI theft (because that's what it means to use someone's words, art, voice or image without their consent OR compensation) to line their pockets even more is going to be SO crucial for SO many people in SO many fields, that I personally am willing to endure this strike however long it takes. We can always re-watch old shows, discover new ones, tackle that "to watch" list that was only getting longer... but if workers (and non-workers) lose the first test on what our rights are vis a vis AI, I'm not sure we'll be able to turn back the clock and get it right.
So I want 911 back, and I would love for it to be sooner rather than later so long as the quality doesn't take a hit, but I'm willing to sit this out even if it becomes a really long wait. And it WILL be hard for me as well, since as a hopeless romantic, IDK how not to ship. So we can just hold each other's shipper hand through this, my love. ;) *hugs*
Oooh, I'm so happy for you, and it IS so exciting! I would love to hear your thoughts on the movies participating in the festival, if you'd feel like sharing them. I have to admit that I've been thinking of making a post about the stuff that's been awful when it comes to Jewish representation between Red, White & Royal Blue, Oppenheimer and Maestro. But I just don't currently have the energy for it.
Thank you for the kindness! My treatment is... going. Hoping for eventual good news. And sending you so much love right back from Jerusalem! *all the hugs and kisses in the world*

Louis' Net Worth: Pearson Specter Litt | Briefs23
I am a fan of this actor, Rick Hoffman, who plays Louis Litt; he is the Maggie Smith of Downton Abbey where he gums up every character & gives them a run for their money by showboating every scene he appears, in a good way. It's too bad he's not in more shows, I think without him Suits would be a bit predictable, his quirky character arc is the most dynamic of all bc no writer has the gall to write about the permanent downward spiral of the "good guy" .. it's always glass half-full, but at least Suits didn't do away with the vindictive side of Louis' character too much; often pitting his loyalty to offset it against the enemy at the gate coming against the firm.
I think this clip above fits in with the discussion below from reddit. And the scene where he lays aside his grievances against Mike & offers him a lifeline is a great way to redeem his fierce math skills to tabulate which is the greater good. #BeingForcedtoStartAllOver
obsequious [little $__]: obedient or attentive to an excessive or servile degree. characterized by or showing servile obedience and excessive eagerness to please; fawning; ingratiating: an obsequious bow; obsequious servants.
youtube
What do you think of the statement that the character of Louis is an antisemitic stereotype?
I saw an article that said that and now I’m thinking about it. (I’d link it but I saw a screenshot of it.) They said because he’s “ a cheap, greedy, money-hoarding backstabber who’s obsessed with power.” Thoughts?
C01: [quote] "cheap, greedy, money-hoarding backstabber who’s obsessed with power" [end quote] I would say this description matches 90% of the lawyers in Suits. Don't really see what this has to do with Louis being Jewish.
R01: yeah but Harvey Specter being the germanic phenotype square-jawed winner in the show doesnt help our case too much. R02: That's a stretch. You can read into anything and make it what you want it to be.
C02: I don't think he's an anti semetic stereotype, but I'm not Jewish, and would defer to Jewish people to make that assessment. Most people on the show is money grubbing, power hungry, and a backstabber.
R01: Yeah I think if you just look at Louis he might seem like a stereotype, but when you look at everyone else in the show they all act like that too. But he is more of a caricature, so that draws attention to him as a potential stereotype. Plus he’s the only one who’s cheap, and the richest, I think
C03: People have already given generally great insights, but I want to add one more thing. Louis isn't really cheap as much as he's careful where he gives his money towards. Like on the one hand, he thinks charities are scams which you could say its cheap on its own, but then he gives Mike a huge amount of money to keep the clinic alive recognizing the good Mike and Nathan were doing with it. And even when it came to Donna's salary, while he was shocked about it at first, he did try to find a way to pay it, he just couldn't because all of his money had been invested and he couldn't liquidate enough to cover her big salary.
The only time where he was uncharacteristically cheap for the sake of a gag, was when he was refusing to chip in with Jessica and Harvey to cover the partner buy outs and keep the firm alive in season 6. But that was an example of writers going too far with the comedic exaggerations around Louis, much like the dreaded cat trial.
R01: Yeah fair he definitely has expensive tastes and will treat others to expensive things (ballet and show tickets, etc.) without any issues.
C04: That was the Vox article I just read and I agree with it.
C05: I thought Louis was a man child. I never saw the qualities you saw attributed to being Jewish. I thought it was how a kid would act playing a big hot shot lawyer (even though it’s shown time and time again Louis is a highly competent lawyer when the time calls for it). I thought that was the point of the character, as it’s quite ridiculous like the rest of the show can be. Something for me to think on and reexamine though.
C06: I'm Jewish and usually rather sensitive to what could become antisemitic on screen. At first I was apprehensive with Louis, but I quickly realized he's just a Jewish guy and has a big personality. His character could walk into my synagogue and make friends with anyone, and I'd love to host him at my Shabbat table.
While Louis does portray many qualities that have been used by antisemites to denigrate Jews, there's nothing inherently antisemitic about a Jewish lawyer doing his job & living his best life in New York.
C07: I agree with it - the show itself doesn’t treat Jews well. You had Louis, and you had Jack Soloff, another power hungry, greedy, backstabbing Jew and Daniel Hardman, another power hungry, greedy, backstabbing Jew. The excuse is that Gabriel Macht (Harvey) is Jewish and was one of the show’s producers and if he felt there was a “Jewish problem” on the show he would have done something about it, and Rick Hoffman would have spoken up as well. Well, they didn’t.
R01: I am a little confused. I don't think there is any indication in the show that Jack Soloff is jewish. While I could find an author of jewish descent of the same surname, the overall results of the Google search do not assure me that I have a lot of reason to believe that Jack is jewish. And is Hardman, actually? I read an article claiming he is, but is it confirmed in the show? I may need education. Wouldn't Hardman as a Jew wear a kippah to his wive's funeral? Also, isn't conversation discouraged during a jewish funeral? I also rewatched the scene at his home, where I didn't spot any jewish symbolism. Is what is going on at his house a shiva? How would I be able to tell that it is? Can you tell me what I am missing? Aside from that, almost every single last person in this show in contact with the legal profession is greedy and power hungry. The show may not have a problem depicting Jews, it may have a problem depicting lawyers. R02: Hardman being Jewish is confirmed on the show. He sat shiva for his wife, and he wore a yarmulke at the funeral. Macht wasn’t the only Jewish person involved with the show’s production, but the portrayals of Jewish characters still sometimes make me borderline uncomfortable. R03: I am a lawyer and I have no problem with lawyers being depicted in this way. It exists.
R04: I definitely see what they’re saying about Louis being that way, and they explicitly say he’s Jewish. But I didn’t know Jack or Daniel were Jewish. And it just sort of points out to me that every character is greedy and power hungry. I didn’t know Gabriel Macht was Jewish though, that’s interesting
C08: When they’re saving the firm he has no issuws with giving up his assets. He’s good with money. I don’t see how this is especially referenced when it comes to his jewishness.
C09: I think that whomever came up with it is just (as is all too common these days) simply looking for things to be offended by.

Check out Harold's emotional roller coaster, close second if only
yah it's for the punchline set-up but Mike is the queen of deception; but at least he is not someone who perpetuates unseemly innuendos
youtube
I do not know how waitresses put up with it, very exhausting even if only subjected to one innuendo/week for an entire year; I find if we brush it off as nothing, it will take its toll on you eventually. This is the 2nd actor who previously played the role as Mr. Good Guy in another sitcom, who then plays it down the middle really flawlessly in Suits. What does that even say about human nature? Duality exists
Brendan Hines: Eli Loker in Lie to Me Logan Sanders vs Mike & Sidwell for control of Gillis industries
Eric Close: Martin Fitzgerald in Without A Trace Cast Antagonistic Prosecutor Travis Tanner from Smith & Devane
.. this has so many applications in today's society I can't start down that road.

I totally agree with almost all of this and I’m really tired of Marvel’s bullshit lately but I did have a Moon Knight hyperfixation recently and read almost all of the comics, so I do wanna clarify some things about the show, because I do think a lot of the choices they made are valid within the context of the comics! Full disclosure, I’m not Jewish, so I don’t wanna speak over anyone, but this is just what I know from reading through most of the character’s history.
Moon Knight is a really difficult character to adapt because of how complex and messy his development was. The emphasis on Egyptian religion and culture was not necessarily just performative (although I’m sure that was part of it), it actually fits with what they were trying to do. Moon Knight’s connection to Egyptian theology has always been a bit more influential (for lack of a better term) than his Jewish heritage. His connection to Khonshu was established in his very first solo appearance, when his identity as the “Fist of Khonshu” was established. In contrast, his Jewish identity wasn’t established until much later. If I remember correctly, the only reason Moon Knight is Jewish is because Doug Moench took the name “Marc Spector” from a friend of his, not realizing that Spector was a Jewish last name, and that aspect of his identity was added in later as a result.
Recent iterations of the character have done some really cool stuff with the identity struggle between Marc’s Jewish heritage and Moon Knight’s devotion to Khonshu— the Jed MacKay run does some really fantastic exploration into that— but Egyptian theology has always driven the character of Moon Knight, because that identity is closely related to Khonshu.
And while you’re right, MK is primarily a vigilante with minimal abilities, he has always had some kind of supernatural elements to him (hell, his first appearance was in Werewolf By Night). It varies from run to run whether he can die, or has other abilities from Khonshu. Granted, it’s played up in the show, but it does have comics precedent. Plus, I can’t exactly falter them for playing up the supernatural elements, since MK has been compared to Batman forever, so it does make those comparisons a bit less unfounded.
Additionally, the show really focuses on the DID elements, and I personally think they did a really good job all things considered. The comics have been notoriously iffy about that, flipping between calling MK “schizophrenic”, a DID system, or just a really good actor using personas to get info. It even flips back and forth between showing Marc as intentionally switching into the “personas” of Steven and Jake or doing it unintentionally in the original Moench run. It’s always been a super important part of MK’s character, but the portrayal of it varies, from really good (MacKay run), to dated (Moench), to downright harmful (Bemis).
Marvel hired an Egyptian head director and emphasized the Egyptian ties of the character because it’s so important to the Moon Knight origin specifically. Mohamed Diab really wanted to humanize and show Egyptian culture in a way that both emphasized the ancient elements and modern culture very authentically, and I think that’s a pretty valid thing to do considering the history of the character and the state of Egyptian representation in the west. There’s not a lot of Western media that shows Egypt as a modern place alongside its history, and the MK show goes out of its way to do that. Additionally, they worked with a specialist to portray DID in a respectful way, although it still is dramatized since it is a TV series and DID is notoriously difficult to portray realistically on film since it’s generally pretty difficult to recognize to an outside observer in real life. It’s an extremely important part of MK’s character (I’d say it’s most of what makes him so unique), and they did their best to portray it with respect and kindness since the comics have not done that very well historically.
Granted, I do wish they focused on Marc’s jewish heritage more, but I can also see why they didn’t, because it’s not touched upon in a ton of detail in the comics. Marc’s always been written as pretty much non-practicing, which I don’t think a lot of people who haven’t read the comics realize. I think the only time it’s been written to have a super huge impact on his character is in the Bemis run, which is all around absolutely awful and uses him being targeted for his Jewish identity as a way to explain his DID. It is used to explore Marc’s motivations in the MacKay run, but that was released pretty much alongside the show, so I’m not surprised it didn’t influence the show much. If the MCU didn’t have a history of erasing canonically Jewish identities of their characters (re: Scarlet Witch), I don’t think people would be as upset about the portrayal of Marc Spector.
Tl;dr Moon Knight is a bad example for this because the comics are notoriously messy with his character and the show does choose to focus on the elements of him which have influenced the character the most throughout his entire history.

OH MY GOD
So there are some very smart conversations about how portraying Ed, who’s played by a Maori and Jewish dude, as disproportionately bigger than Stede, who’s played by a dude so white he’s pink, is playing into racist stereotypes about the inherent brutishness of people of color, particularly Maori men. (Yes, Blackbeard is in fact pretty terrifying, but he also cries in bathtubs, so.) This is a common issue in fandoms, particularly where one part of a pairing is a man of color (it happens most frequently with Black men — see Finn from Star Wars) and often isn’t consciously done, but it’s always worth bearing in mind when creating fic or fanart. Racism can leak into places we’d never expect, so keeping that metaphorical mop handy is always a good idea.
Plus, as people have pointed out, Stede and Ed are roughly the same height:
Tumblr media
Except... they aren’t:
Tumblr media
I saw this picture earlier and googled the actors’ heights — Waititi’s between 6′ and 6′1″ and Darby is 5′10″ on a good day.
Which is when I realized — and I’m sure a lot of people have realized this, but it hit me right between the eyes and then slapped me around a little with a dead fish — that the reason they look like they’re the same height throughout most of the show is because Stede wears those goddamn motherfucking kitten heels the whole fucking time.
Tumblr media
Which isn’t to say that characterizing Ed as some big huge dude in comparison to tiny little Stede is now somehow accurate — Darby clearly is still the broader guy and could probably bench press Waititi, who would giggle the whole time — but it does make me contemplate the inevitable scene where Stede, wearing only some plain-ass flat shoes, shows up again and Ed is like “what happened, did comphet shorten you or something.”
