#and that's cool but like when i finish a standalone - idk it just feels like my whole life has changed and i find that just marvellous

M’kay I have some thoughts about the witcher and wlw representation in the Witcher book series!
CW for sexual abuse and spoilers
Tbh when I had just read the Last Wish and half way through the first book I just gave up on the series. The women were just written so weirdly to me. Ciri was so innocent it was almost fetishised and the long and meticulous description of Triss and her sexual history was really unnecessary.
IN FACT when Triss’ “experiments” with women were mentioned it was almost explained as like ‘she tried EVERY deviance. EVEN *gasp* the THAT’ :| it was weird.
That’s not to say the writing didn’t get better later, like I guess Sapkowski spoke to a woman since finishing Blood of Elves.
BUT. He insisted on pointing out gay people exist in his world. Which is fine. He also insisted on telling us how people of his world felt about gay people. Also fine. You can write homophobia in your stories, not the worst thing I haven’t been warned about.
But in the entirety of the literature I’ve read from the Witcher series, I haven’t come across one i think more about than the Mistle and Ciri sex paragraph.
For anyone wondering how they’re supposed to feel about this: NOT GOOD. It was a not good thing that happened :||
Mistle took advantage of Ciri’s vulnerability and fear and, yes, practically raped her. But it was written???? As if it was a good thing???
I didn’t expect any better from Sapkowski having read the previous Witcher books, but I still feel like this is a fascinating part of Ciri’s story.
Were I not more aware of tone armour surrounding this event in the book, I would’ve said it was an interesting study on queer youth because IT COULDVE BEEN RELATABLE.
From my own experience as a queer woman: as a teenager, finding a queer friend group with people who are actually interested in you was everything! Even if those initial friend groups are full of lying and manipulation and violence and yes, sometimes even sexual harassment, you finally feel safe, why would you ever give that up?
I feel like a lot of my friends ended up being dragged into problems with vandalism, drugs, sex addiction etc exactly because they stuck in the environment that raised them to be used to that as a price of love of their chosen family.
Mistle and Ciri are a toxic couple. Ciri WAS just a child when she joined the Rats and having peers who harness her skills and treat her as one of their own was a treasure to her. Even if that family came with drug abuse.
I have no doubt in my mind Ciri loves the Rats and that she loves Mistle, just as I have no doubts Mistle loves her just as much. But they are hurt queer kids in a homophobic world that feel like they have nobody else, who else would they love?
I am SO SURE Sapkowski didn’t write them in with this in mind tho pffff. Honestly? The Rats feel like an afterthought in the books.
If I were to write the Rats arc into the Witcher series, honestly I WOULD have the Rats survive, but Ciri to still be taken away. Them dying might’ve felt like a resolution to some people, but I would argue that having Mistle survive to break up with Ciri would’ve been a better resolution.
I’m not done with the book yet but it seems as though they are going for a familial love angle where Ciri will not take any of her remaining love interests, but it would be so cool if she were to face her sexuality and admit the toxicity of her past choices.
Idk sounds like a *lmao libtard* kinda ending, but it seems to me like Sapkowski just wrote that relationship in there to be able to say he has a bisexual character in his books so I’m no more shallow than that kind of thinking.
Also also
This is kind of why I would’ve loved to see the Netflix version of this story. As much as I hate how much they changed the story, as a standalone piece of media, it isn’t that bad. At least it has more believable women. Were they to adapt the wlw relationship with Ciri and Mistle though, I’m sure they would’ve sanitised it, which isn’t the BEST adaptation but at least one that doesn’t make me want to die

I've decided to more or less scrap/save some of Chapter 10 for a later chapter or maybe even deleted content, 'cause looking back at it, it doesn't feel like it fits cohesively enough with the other chapters in the lineup.
"But isn't Chapter 10 supposed to be releasing next Friday?"
Yes. Yes it is. And it will! Promise.
I both love and hate how easy it is to get new/better ideas and having to change things when working on an ongoing story that releases as you write it :')
Not that I HATE the scrapped stuff, it's just that I wrote all of Chapter 10 in one 6-hour sitting, and let's just say you can tell with this particular bit. I was writing the chapter as more a standalone, sorta like a oneshot rather than how it fits for someone reading the whole thing from start to as-of-right-now-finish (ala Chapter 7's flashback temporarily interrupting the story flow - I justify that only because it's, like, the ONLY scene I still thought was great from the original run of the fic and it was cool and I wanted to share it).
There's also the issue for me that I feel like I don't give Buttercup or Boomer POV chapters as much attention as they deserve. I've been working harder on fixing that, and hopefully this is reflected in Chapters 10 & 12, as well as their subsequent chapters. I don't want them to feel like extensions of their siblings, idk, maybe I'm overthinking it, we'll see.
Also fun fact, as much as I love working on this story, it's been a WIP since 2019, I've been working on it on-and-off for the last six years. Which is crazy to think about! I don't like thinking about that, time flies.
But because of that, and because I have some other ideas for PPG fics, I'm planning on really hunkering down and figuring out exactly how much left of this particular story there is so it's not so up in the air anymore. Now, there's NO WAY it's ending anytime soon, my current batch is running til' June and I fully intend to have something going for July and so forth, but I do want to get a good idea of how many chapters I'm gonna do and the gist of each of them (or hell, even just the gist of a group of chapters -- an example is how this batch from the action side of things is like an arc centered around Packrat as the central antagonist). And if I finish the story sooner than I anticipate, I mean, hey, that means I can upload whatever remaining chapters I have left a lot more consistently!
Okay I'm gonna get back to editing this chapter, I just like to keep y'all in the loop so bear with me lol!

Masterlist?
Look, this is my first time actually trying to be organized since this is just gonna be a bunch of reblogs of various masterlist (which is what I'm putting here) that have cool literature and also, if I remember, various reblogs of little snippets or drabbles or stories I liked and wanted to hoard (alongside a smattering of commentary/praise/admiration. If I forget or don't do it, I either forgot or was feeling lazy, but be assured I loved the story). Please excuse me if this is never finished lol
Also, if this is an introduction, ima just say that this is @idkanonymystuff … just putting that there since my commentary kinda counts with what I put there? Idk but ye that’s me (hopefully it’s correct. If you see a pochita image and corgi aerodynamics, that’s it)
Also if I reblogged a masterlist, I probably won't reblogs individual stories in said list just for ease of less clutter. Not that I hate the story, I probably love them, just don't feel like doing more work than necessary.
I'll start the process hopefully sometime later this day week year never
Currently there is nothing under the cut but I will remove this when there is
As of 1/22/25, still nothing… procrastination is amazing :)
2/4/25 still nothing. Maybe I should give a fun fact for every week after the date…
I have yet to figure out how to make tags work so I'll just list them here so you know what there is
masterlist - what it is; various masterlists. I'll probably make a separate post listing each one for ease of finding once I figure that out
Here's a separate list detailing all of the masterlists and the person that made them
standalone - essentially just a single snippet/post/drabble/piece of work/whatever that I really liked and wanted to save separately. If said piece is in a masterlist, I probably won't tag it but I might because I'm a human and I have free will
Don't think I'm gonna make a list and the person for that but who knows?
Uhh... I guess various tags saying what said snippet (or masterlist) contains? Like fluff, whump, hero and villain stuff, angst, etc, that sorta stuff.
FOR ME: To make a text with a link, highlight it and select the link. Make sure you have the link ready to copy paste

oh!! hello again! i hope you don't mind me stopping by, but i realized halfway through that i have in fact reached the part in homestuck where the kids all meet each other and their alt universe selves :D it's really great there's so much going on! ok i was a bit wary of all the timeline switching at first but i mean everything seems to be alright. it's very sweet to see how they've all grown up since the beginning, and a bit sad somehow too
honestly i can't believe i'm approaching the end- while you were reading did you ever wish it was longer? idk maybe it ends well but. i don't know what i'm going to do when i finish it lol
(also i know you said you don't mind me talkin about hs in your inbox but if i'm annoying you or rambling too much like feel free to let me know :] i end up talking way too much about random stuff sometimes sjdhsk)
aww that's really cool!! that part's so sweet! and yeah the timeline switching scared me a bit too, the game over flash was such a shock too but it's genuinely one of my favourite parts as well. and i ABSOLUTELY wished it was longer while reading, and tbh that feeling just kind of gets worse as you finish, as there's quite a lot of loose ends they never tied haha.
however, although the end of homestuck does kinda leave you wanting more, i'm not sure if you've heard this already but i would NOT reccommend reading the epilogues and/or homestuck^2, they never really give any closure, and just create more unanswered questions haha. plus a lot of characters kind of get butchered in the epilogues and it just doesn't really capture the feel reading homestuck itself gives you haha.
if you do want more hs content though, here are my fic recs! (sorry theyre so late T-T i keps forgetting haha) sorry a lot of them are quite ship-focused haha i'm quite a romantic so i always prefer shippy content, but most of these have a lot of plot that can be enjoyed too if ship stuff's not really your cup of tea
nothingbound was the first homestuck fic i ever read (about 50k words, unfinished), it's dave/karkat and a fic based on the film 'you've got mail', HIGHLY reccommend, does a really good job of getting you invested and also had me thinking about it for days after
love letters in digital ink (60k words, complete) is also one of my favourite fics, it's rose/kanaya and the story is primarily told through pesterlogs and blog posts by rose. basically rose runs a semi-popular blog and kanaya is her new neighbour as well as an admirer of her blog.
assholes on the internet, (11k words, complete) another dave/karkat fic, told only through pesterlogs, where karkat pisses dave off, causing him to catfish karkat using jade's blog as retaliation. i reread this regularly, it's very nice.
apples cleft in twain (and other foods of love) (almost 30k words, complete) is a primarily rose/kanaya fic (but it also has a bit of dave/karkat) that's based on shakespeare's twelfth night. essentially rose steals dave's identity after presuming him dead and gets a job working for kanaya while still pretending to be dave. a lot of stuff happens and this entire fic is hilarious
literally every fic by itsdave, a bunch of dialogue-only meteorstuck oneshots. you can read them in order as one big long sort-of-fic, i've linked the post that has them in order, but they're also quite good standalone.
Sollux Captor Isn't Dead (He's Just At College), a 3k word oneshot, a little bit of sollux/eridan? very funny
i have tons more, but if you finish those i'd also recommend doc scratch's school for supernaturally gifted adolescents (fic where all the kids + trolls have supernatural abilities and are taken to a school to learn to control them, really good, highly recommend. fair warning, this fic has some very mild untagged sexual content but it was easy enough for me to see it coming and skip it haha), also house of dirk is really good (it's kind of a webcomic too! captures the feel of hs really well, but is unfinished permenantly :(( ), and i've never finished it, but i've heard detective pony is awesome as well! ( i think there's audiobooks and movie-esque things avalible for detective pony too!)
if you want more fic recs i can easily give them to you, or if you finish all of these i can link you my ao3 and you can just scroll through my bookmarks to find more good fics :-)
hope you enjoy the ending of hs, though, and lmk what you think of it when you finish it!!!
also i never asked, but what's your opinion on the alpha kids? which one is your favourite? :O

Ace Attorney case tier list
so, in the past year, i finished replaying games 1 through 5 for the first time in forever, and also played game 6 for the first time ever
so here’s where i ruthlessly rank each of the cases based on that most scientific metric of all, My Opinions:
OPENING CASES
S-tier: Turnabout Trump (4-1). I already knew this case, and I still gasped with surprise when Phoenix showed up, and when Kristoph showed his true colors, and when Apollo realized OH SHIT OH FUCK I REALLY AM ACCUSING MY BOSS OF MURDER HUH... what a wonderful, splashy, shockingly concise case to open up the post-O.G. trilogy world. Marvelous.
A-tier: Turnabout Memories (3-1). Seeing Mia Fey (finally!) in action is a long-awaited delight; seeing Phoenix being a total dumbass was an unexpected-yet-perfect and fitting delight.
B-tier: The First Turnabout (1-1). Solid lil’ case with some conventional-but-well-executed humor. I’ve got a soft spot for Larry Butz.
C-tier: The Lost Turnabout (2-1), The Foreign Turnabout (6-1). The former’s fine but a little forgettable; the latter has some fun gags (Payne’s ridiculous new outfit, dude absolutely shredding on the mandolin, etc) but is marred by how uh... kinda silly the game’s core conceit is, lol
E-tier: Turnabout Countdown (5-1). The context surrounding this introduction is just sloppy (badly handled in media res + let’s lowkey retcon game 4 isn’t a great setup), and also the case itself is just. irksome. ted tonate is just fundamentally irritating to look at
FINALE CASES
S-tier: Bridge to the Turnabout (3-5), Turnabout Goodbyes (1-4). No explanation needed. God they fuck so hard
A-tier: The Cosmic Turnabout + Turnabout for Tomorrow (5-4 + 5-5), Turnabout Succession (4-4).
The former two cases are what makes AA5 worth it, and they make for a tremendously fun ride. It fumbles the execution in some notable ways (Apollo’s sudden j’accuse moment feels a little forced/awkward/inadequately foreshadowed, and damn it sure would’ve been nice to know Clay Terran at all before he died, and also The Phantom’s final meltdown could’ve used a bit more emotional heft)... but okay let’s be real, I’m here for Simon Blackquill, and this case gives me so much of him so who gives a shit. (And Aura! Condescending obnoxious engineering queen! I love her!)
As for Turnabout Succession... while I earnestly wish the game had explored more of Klavier’s feelings about this whole setup, and some more emotional beats for Apollo, the case still makes for such a satisfyingly twisty and fun investigation overall (the poison stamp! what a ridiculous murder method! I love it!) that it’s a more-than-worthy finale.
B-tier: Turnabout Revolution (6-5), Farewell, My Turnabout (2-4).
The former does some cool stuff—I particularly like the opening half, where Apollo’s being real snippy and coping with Frankly Bizarre Dad Feelings, and giving Apollo a chance to finally throw down against Phoenix is a blast. The latter half of the case starts feeling a little... ridiculous? cramped? idk? like, they didn’t do nearly enough foreshadowing about Nahyuta’s whole deal for me to care about his drama, this justice system is so obviously silly and the manner in which the revolution is playing out strains my already-suspended-sky-high disbelief... fun, and flashy, but more noise than signal in the last part, I guess.
As for Farewell, My Turnabout: of course I love Edgeworth rolling back into court goin’ through SOME kind of bizarre emotional arc of Hey I’m Totally Healed Now and obnoxiously preaching about Truth TM. And it’s cool that the game set up a case where you want to lose. But the net result is a bit strange tonally—it’s trying set up some kind of message about It’s Not Just About Winning, It’s About Pursuing The Truth, but it feels really muddled when that’s combined with Okay But Maya’s Literally Being Held Hostage Like Right Now, Surely A Reasonable Justice System Has A Process For Dealing With This Obviously Complicated Situation, Right?
but also Franziska takes a fucking bullet (how did I forget about that) and then gets to roll in like Ms. Save The Day so, really, lots of good shit here
FILLER CASES
S-tier: Reunion, and Turnabout (2-2), Turnabout Beginnings (3-4). Look, the first one gives me all the Fey family drama a girl could ask for, and the latter gives me young Edgeworth being a total shit in an obnoxiously shimmery outfit. The whole enchilada is here
A+ tier: The Magical Turnabout (6-2). DELIGHTFUL! MAGICIAN! SHENANIGANS! Like you get to guess the trick behind a magic act as part of the case, how fucking fun is that, and also the Apollo & Athena duo’s chemistry is perfect, the villain is a FANTASTIC bastard, and even the bit characters you meet during the investigation are total delights... Probably the best “standalone” case in the series, in that it doesn’t rely on any emotional connections to previous cases (unlike 2-2 and 3-4) to still totally and completely rule.
A tier: Turnabout Samurai (1-3), Turnabout Reclaimed (5-DLC).
For Turnabout Samurai, I remembered before this replay how delightful the TV SHOW STUDIO investigation and actor-fandom stuff was; I had TOTALLY forgotten Vasquez calling in her mob connections to try and wreck you. What a fantastic villain; what a fun case.
Turnabout Reclaimed is just good solid goofy nonsense. Probably receives a boost for me in particular because, yeah, Simon Blackquill. But then again who isn’t giving cases a boost on that account; they are MISSING OUT
B tier: The Stolen Turnabout (3-2). Ron and Desirée are so great sighs into hands
C tier: Listing roughly in order of preference: Turnabout Academy (5-3), Turnabout Serenade (4-3), Turnabout Sisters (1-2), Recipe for a Turnabout (3-3), Rite of the Turnabout (6-3), Rise from the Ashes (1-5).
Four of these (5-3, 4-3, 1-2, 3-3) are perfectly solid cases; I just don’t love them quite as much as “thievery hijinks” or “Hollywood hijinks” or other such particularly delightful flavors. Everyone has a favorite flavor of Jolly Rancher and all that.
Rite of the Turnabout is interesting and connected with the larger themes of the game in a cool way, and makes good use of the divination mechanic. However, the last bit gets twisty enough to actually be kind of confusing, and said larger themes of the game are... kinda hard for me to take seriously... which, yeah, leads to it feeling a little stilted when it really should be singing.
Rise from the Ashes landed awkwardly for me. I know it was added well after the first game’s release, and it does a good job of continuing some of the cool stuff from that game—it’s neat, in isolation, to see Phoenix and Edgeworth working together (while still sniping at each other!), and some of the DS-specific mechanics are neat. However, I just didn’t feel like I learned quite enough about Ema and Lana to care about them like I should, and retconning “(almost certainly true) rumors that Edgeworth was involved in Shady Shit TM” into “actually Edgeworth was totally ignorant of Shady Shit TM, like at worst his crime was willful ignorance / incuriosity, he was just been manipulated by the Police Chief”... makes Edgeworth less interesting to me! Like, it’s cool to see Edgeworth caught off-guard and under pressure, but I wish the circumstances had been different? Also Gant’s theme song is annoying as shit, which is petty but hey this is my blog post so
D tier: Turnabout Storyteller (6-4), Turnabout Corner (4-2), Turnabout Big Top (2-3), The Monstrous Turnabout (5-2).
Turnabout Storyteller has some fun gags with My Dude Simon and also Taka, but was heavily marred by Everyone Talking Down To Athena The Entire Fucking Case Oh My God Can You All Just Shut Up.
Turnabout Corner has... lots of fun elements but... look the fucking stolen-panties setup just grates ok
I don’t think I hate Turnabout Big Top the way most people seem to, but I did find the final murder setup more annoying that I remembered this playthrough—bro you were really sure the dude was going to conveniently stand right there and the heavy statue was definitely going to strike a killing blow and not just give the guy a concussion? ok lol
The Monstrous Turnabout suffers mostly from poor puzzle/investigation design, being too hand-hold-y, and also having a core gimmick/setting that just wasn’t really my thing. Alas!
#ace attorney#obviously these are just opinions. love what u love#but this was entertaining to type up lol

Her head is shaved, all except for a distinctive swath of tight curls on the top and left side of her head. She has the tiniest septum ring in her nose, and a tattoo of what looks like a musical note behind her right ear."

Sorry @suzhhou for noticing that you've tagged me so late I am a moron you see
hardcover or paperback (idk why but paperback feels more fancy to me) / rent or buy (I am a capitalist jerk) / reads in silence or reads with music (I have trouble concentrating when reading so music would be impossible) / standalone or series (I'm very happy with a single great book but I'm also reading lotr and it feels really cool going from one book to another) / annotations or pristine pages (gotta write down those thoughts and feels, also because I can't concentrate otherwise) / ebook or physical copy (i like it when books take space you know? Which is becoming a sizable problem in my apartment but that's not the point) / dog ears or bookmarks (i'm trashy like that) / mismatched series or complete set (mismatched books give me great anxiety, especially when they don't fit on the same shelf) / cover matters or you don’t judge (well at least if the cover is bad you'll remember the book for it) / lend books or keep them to yourself (i do it with people i trust won't judge the aforementioned written thoughts and feels) / enjoys lit classes or despises them (well it has been my life for three years) / browses shops or orders online / reads reviews or goes in blind (i don't actively read reviews, I just read things that I heard are good i guess) / unreturned books or clean library record (there was that one book that a friend lent me and I've never finished and thus never returned, but she had forgotten about it) / rereads or once was enough (i am a terribly slow reader i don't have time for that) / fanfic enthusiast or a stickler for canon (both!!! I only read fics that stick to canon as much as possible, like the ones that fill the blanks in the storyline) / deep reader or easily distracted / must read the book before seeing the movie or order doesn’t matter (well i watched the harry potter movies first sue me) / has neat bookshelves or messy bookshelves (because my boyfriend's the one who organises them) / skips ahead or resists temptation / reads aloud or in your head / guesses plot twists or never sees them coming (I love puzzles and crime novels - like the old and classic ones that aren't too gory - so I think I'm always trying to guess)
@hermestheraccoon I challenge you
#reading#reading preferences#im not a huge reader though#which is ironic for a researcher but yeah#if you count work ive read a ton of non fiction#and ive read a lot of fiction as a student in humanities#it's just not a usual hobby for me#but i like it

Weirdest story idea you’ve ever hadugh this girl who could see deaths coming and she worked for the fbi but she was like 15 so she still had to go to highschool lol39. Weirdest character concept you’ve ever hadprobably her, only bc i was 13 when i created her and was reading this banshee series but somehow didnt connect??? and didnt realise she was a banshee?? without the screaming40. Share some backstory for one of your charactersomg all of my characters have purposefully murky backstories bc i find that trope cool af lol. i guess ary has that typical woe-is-me backstory where her parents were killed, she spiraled and got involved with the wrong people and then was betrayed and arrested lol
The Rest of It41. Any advice for new/beginning/young writers?literally i swear by: trying anything out. fiddle with pov, tense, perspective, genre, character identity, hell take a story you like and try to put your own spin on it. writing as a craft only gets better with practice and my best work is when im going outside of the box/my comfort zone42. How do you feel about love triangles?is this even a debate anymore, this trope got flamed so hard i havent seen it in ya in years. i dont really care about it43. What do you do if/when characters don’t follow the outline?good lol my outlines are usually done on the spot and i come up with more creative plots/scenes if i can think on it a bit44. How much world building do you do?a lot lol i LOVE worldbuilding. but i find it hard to incorporate it into my draft naturally so a lot of minute details get cut 46. Do you reread your own stories?all the time lol i forget what i wrote half the time47. Best way to procrastinatetwitter–OR if u wanna seem “productive”, writing blogs are a good way to get distracted48. What’s the most self-insert character/scene you’ve ever written?bitch there was a time where i only wrote self insert characters lol49. Which character would you most want to be friends with, if they were real?im too lame to hang out with any of my characters. they would be nice to me but i wouldnt get to know them like how i know them from an author perspective50. [Other question—ask me anything]u didnt ho

1. Aahh so many. Definitely Les Mis. I'd also say Anne of Green Gables/Avonlea. Hate to be one with the crowd but the Harry Potter series has gotta be in there too. I love the magic faraway tree too.
2. My taste is so varied so I wouldn't say one author in particular. Rick Riordan and JK Rowling wrote some pretty awesome stuff. Stephen Fry is also amazing as well with Troy and Heroes he writes it so well.
3. Can't think of one.
4. I love classical books and I'm not sure what to call it like relaxing cottage core type books like aogg and wind in the willows etc. Also fantasy novels gotta love em
5. Heroes of Olympus. I mean it would be epic if it was pulled off right but it's too risky, see what happened with the Percy Jackson movies.
6. Off the top of my head the land of stories series would look pretty cool as a movie.
7. Physical books all the way.
8. I hate this because I know I have lots but they have all escaped me.
9. Not just the cover but the illustrations throughout all of the Debbie books e.g debbie's visit to the countryside
10. I started reading the shining but I over thought it and couldn't lol. Also when I was younger there was this creepy bit of ruby red fort that i read when I was alone and it was dark outside and the door creaked open i freaked xD
11. Can't think. this is annoying
12. Les Mis made me feel empty inside. Tfios of course.
13. Idk
14. Andy Griffith's and Terry Denton's books are absolutely nuts but they did good lol.
15. The Aeneid lol it had to go back to the library. I will finish it eventually though I'm on pg 267. Took me a few goes to get through sense and sensibility as well.
16. I was three years old sitting in the hallway while the fam was packing to go on holiday it was one fish two fish red fish blue fish by Ronald Dahl.
17. Just finished reading Hamilton the revolution.
18. Before that i read troy by Stephen fry.
19. Nah not in ages.
20. Lol i cried in Hamilton the revolution when they talked about it's quiet uptown. The music was ringing in my ears it was too much.
21. Fred Weasley.
22. Occasionally. I found this beautiful wee book store in another town i wanna go back so badd.
23. Whatever book I'm reading at home.
24. All the time. I'm addicted to nonfiction atm.
25. Magic faraway tree. It's so nostalgic and pretty.
26. I love getting real stuck into series. Some standalones are so superior though.
27. First one that come into my head was Robinson Crusoe lol. It was really Boring.
28. Hardcoverssss.
29. I've just always done it. My whole life its so good. An escape.
30. The Buddhist on death row. It's a really fascinating nonfiction about the life of Jarvis masters. So interesting introduction to Buddhist beliefs and a man's fascinating story.

RvB Season 15: Top 3 Worst Things
With Season 16 only weeks away, I’ve been going back over Season 15 a lot the past few days. I’m very late to the party on giving critique because at first, I had zero issues with the season. And overall, I think it’s still a very good one. But... it’s not flawless. There’s definitely a few issues that could bring the season down for some and now that I ave a clearer mind, I can’t ignore it. But I also think that there’s plenty to praise about the season as well, so... I’m going to make two Top 3 Lists, starting with the Worst. Note, this post exists for critical reasons. This is not an attack on Joe, Miles, Burnie, or anyone at Rooster Teeth. There is no reason for it. I want to see Joe improve, not bring him down. SO if you want that, kindly fuck off. For now, lets get into the list!
...that got incredibly long so look under the cut!
Top Three Worst Things ABout RvB15
3. The Film Refrences Are Overly Used
Joe Nicolosi has admitted to being a movie buff, and I always feel like you should use what you like/what you’re good at when making anything. Jax’s character existed to use film humor, and at first it was pretty good. Things like him the Citizen Kane reference and Force Awakens reference in Episode 4, Jax forgetting to record in Episode 5, and his jokes in Episode 7 were legitimately funny. The problem is... they never stopped. It’s perfectly fine to use a running gag, and Hell RvB HAS used pop culture humor multiple times. It’s a show based on Halo after all. But Nicolosi used in in every episode and it stopped being funny. Jax became annoying and while he was helpful in getting footage of Temple’s plans and distracting Lorenzo, he got grating because he wouldn’t shut up. And if you are like me and don’t understand all the references, it’s going to feel like Joe is cramming them down your throat. Fortunately, hes said that he’s going to hold back some in the upcoming season, which is good. He listened, and that's important. I don’t mind this kind of humor at all, just... space it out a little and don’t wear it out. Otherwise, ti just becomes annoying and unbearable and for a show like RvB, that’s something you just can’t afford to do.
2, The Blues and Reds
The idea of using evil versions of characters is always a fun plot. Its a good way to show how the heroic character has grown or even trigger them into growing. For example, in Danny Phantom he’s faced with an evil future version of himself and it is horrifying. It leads to Danny not only maturing a little to not make the mistakes, but he’a chance to fix the damage and does so. It’s a great example of a hero being faced with the worst of himself and choosing to become something better. This idea for RvB was a legit good idea and leads to a lot of possibilities. So the problem? There’s a few...
First, the copies are just exaggerations of the Reds and Blues. They don’t feel like characters aside form Temple, Loco, and Biff and I’ll explain why in a bit. The others feel incredibly shallow. I mean Hell, Simmons’ copy is voiced by Gus still even though everyone else got a different voice actor. I mean it leads to the amazing moment in Episode 20.. but at the same time he still feels less like a character and more like a plot device. The Blues and Reds, aside form the ones I listed, just feel like they’re there because the plot demanded that everyone have some kind of copy. It’same issue I felt Miles had with The CHorus Trilogy, he added a lot of characters but couldn’t do a lot with the majority of them due to time.
In relation to this... why are they committing to this plan? I know what you’re, “Well Biff was horribly killed and they realized they were pawns”. No. That is Temple’s motivation. He is angry that his best friend was murdered in cold blood and that it was ultimately for no reason. Loco’s motivation is to be Temple’s best friend, but unlike everyone else he has regrets about it and uses his final moments to make it up to Caboose. It gives him a character even if he is more or less a Caboose copy, but it’s something. Biff is dead, but they did take the time to explain why he ended up int he military, why he wanted out, and he was an overall nice guy who isn’t like Grif aside form wanting out of the military, wears orange, and the Sarge copy hating him. Similar want, completely different motivation and character.
Why do Surge, Gene, Lorenzo, Cronut, and Bucky want revenge? Why are they committing to Temple’s insane plan? Why si no one questioning this Did they before? How did Temple convince the Reds into it? Maybe if we saw their reactions when they found the Freelancer Base and the truth, liek we did with our guys, that would be answered. But we don’t know. We don’t knwo why any of them would go along with this, or at least not ask if this is the right thing to do. We know that Temple cared about Biff, but what about Biff’s actual team? Likely he and Gene weren't as close as Grif and Simmons are, but did they have a friendship at all? We saw briefly that Surge may feel bad about Biff’s death, but he doesn't express it and it’s more based on his need to obey orders than anything. We don’t know Biff’s relationship with his team, so you question why they’re going along with it and... do you see what I’m getting at?
The Blues and Reds feel shallow and one-note. A lot of people don’t like Temple because he’s an asshole...a nd he is. But at least they fleshed out his motivation and character so even though you hate him, at least you see why he’s doing what he’s doing. Loco overall i also fine since he differed and did have a conscious. The others though Wasted. They just to because this plot demanded it and nothing is done to make them distinctive. We just want to see them die... okay maybe that was the intent, but still it made them weak villains and I’m not going to be missing them. But hey, we got the moment in Episode 20 due to it so... it’s not all bad.
1. It Was One Season
This is by far the biggest issue with the season. The were a lot of ideas for this season, and you can tell. It was a legit good idea and could have carried two seasons worth of stories... but for some reason they decided to make it a standalone. IDK if it was Joe who decided this or Burnie and Matt did, but it meant that things had to be rushed. You now what I said above? About the villains falling flat? If they had more time, chances are they could have fixed that. But because it was condensed into one season of 21 episodes, they couldn’t.
Now if it had been two seasons, they could have worked on some more things. Like what I said above about the villains and maybe extending the flashback so we could see them discovering the truth. We could have had some mroe solid characterization and understood what was motivating everyone into such drastic actions. Outside that, we could have seen how Red Team was dealing with Grif quitting more and explored things like Donut feeling left out or watching Sarge’s descent into siding with the Blues and Reds. Heck, we could have had Simmons maybe play up siding with the Blues and Reds for an episode, then actually trigger an escape plan that fails, but it would show us that he's what his kissassing ways. Especially if they emphasize on how much worst Gene is at lot and have it be like old Simmons is talking to current Simmons, provoking him further into becoming more independent. That would also justify Gus (who did a great job in the season BTW) being the voice actor for both which let sit feel less like it’s for just a joke and make it even more impactful since it’s current Simmons talking to himself essentially. Which would make the moment in Episode 20 even mroe satisfying. It took me about five minutes to come up with this and in a larger story could have been an effective and if played right funny character arc... but in a one season story, it would have taken up too much time so it wouldn’t be able to be included. But do you see how Simmons would get character development base don both his feelings about losing Grif and for his own benefit? And how it would make Gene a much stronger evil reflection, becoming something for Simmons to overcome and be better than by the end?
I’m saying is’the standalone format caused things to be rushed and ideas to be wasted. As I said, there as enough for two seasons worth. The first season could have the content of... the first fourteen episodes. If you do it as a typical 19 or 20 episode season, you get 5-6 more episodes to play with more ideas. Int he second half, we can start with showing Grif again and bringing Locus back in. Maybe have them go on a little roadtrip where they gather more people like Sister or something, letting her be a regular again and not in just two episodes. You have more room to experiment like show how far Locus has come, have Grif Sibs humor, let Sister have more character and show that she can be clever and resourceful, show more of how Grif’s isolation really affected him and how he needs the others. You can still make all of that both funny and emotional like have Grif and Sister talking about their various shenanigains and Grif is at first complaining about all the shit he goes through. Then he slowly starts talking more slowly about the dumb things and how he hates everyone.. but he also misses them all, feels horrible for walking out like he did, and show how negatively he thinks about himself. Sister, in her own way, makes him feel better. You get comedy, character development, and fun interactions that way. See where I’m going?
There great ideas and opportunities with this season. Hell, the possibility of meeting more Freelancers is pretty cool. But because we only had one season, they had to finish the plot in limited time. They couldn’t explore the opportunity gift-wrapped for them. Int he end they still made a good product, but you still are left feeling like there was so much more that could have been done. Like if I were paid to rewrite Season 15 and was able to make it a two parter, I already have a general idea of what I would do. It is doable. But if I had only one season... yeah, I’d have to cutback a LOT of it. Like I said, IDK whose idea it was, but it was in hindsight one that hurt the season. Because of this, ti is the worst thing about Season 15.
And there you have it! 'l best another day, typing this took me an hour. And regardless, I really enjoyed the season. It could have bee so much more, but I will gladly take what I got. Joe’s already stated on how he’s read the critiques and will try to improve, and that is important for any content creator. So I wish him the best of luck,a nd now I can feel better now that this is out of my system.
#this is what happens when I'm bored...#...and now I know for sure that rvb is my new obsession#rvb#vb15#red vs blue

(1) Hey! So sorry for replying late, a lot has happened these past couple of days D: but I hope you've been doing good! (I say as if I've been gone for months aksjdf) anyway, yeah, they're definitely scary. I think it'll be worth being able to be that soft and open with someone though. And I'm glad it did have a positive impact on you! Even if they were hard you came out stronger or wiser in some way. And thank you, you're so sweet :') So do you hon ❤️
hey honeymoon! sorry for taking my time to respond, i hope everything’s been alright with you!
(2) Terushima really does just seem like a big dork who loves volleyball haha. I feel like his initial vibe would make me not want to interact v much lol but once you get to know him he's actually a good person. and that tongue piercing tho 👀. "that one definitely hurts a lot more than Falling does" then I think I'm good for awhile hahaha. I've already read a sad hospital AU so I'm going to stay FAR away for now. Honestly I wish there was an interesting story behind it but there's not :')
(3) basically I had an art blog and the name of it was kind of a pun with the word "honeydew." but that nickname was already taken and I wanted to be ~original~ sso I didn't want to use it lol. I still liked the honey aspect though and I thought Honeymoon sounded cute. I'm also kind of a secret hopeless romantic and at the time I kept my identity on my art blog a secret, so it kind of felt like an "alter ego" of mine? long story short I liked the nickname and it kinda stuck haha
ok i mean, to be fair, he was super aggressive when he was meeting kiyoko. but i definitely feel like there’s that dorky side to him LMAO.
oooof idk if I can handle any angst rn tbh so i can definitely relate 😭
that’s honestly such a cute story though??? like, that’s literally so freakin’ adorable. what type of art did you use to do? (and honestly girl, this whole blog is on the DL and i tried super hard to keep it hidden from my life LOL).
there’s nothing wrong with being a hopeless romantic though! it gives you a chance to day-dream hehe 💞 what’s your favorite romantic trope? it could be as cliche or non-cliche as you’d like!
(4) "i’m sorry for being a sadistic fk 🥰" 😀 something tells me you're kind of not LOL (really though I know you're sweet and don't actually want to hurt people akdhf) and honestly I'm glad you decided to expand on it! Chapter one is also great as a standalone but I'm so grateful for the rest so far, and you're doing an amazing job with it love 💖 I understand the chara x chara thing. I don't know if I've ever actually shipped anything to the point of me /wanting/ it to be canon
(6) like, it'd be cool if it was, but I don't actually care y'know? unless it was actual romantic tension built up in the movie/book/series. Fanart and fic is what mostly got me lol. I think the HQ fandom is super diverse/creative in its shipping. Not only because of an incredible story with great characters, but great fans and creators as well. And yes! someone else who likes KuroIwa!! I think that ship is really cute (and they're my top 2 faves so I'm biased haha) have you seen neutinya's art?
i swear i’m nice 💞 thank you so much for the love!! 🥺 i’ve been having writer’s block for a bit, and your comments have honestly motivated me to write so much more for it LOL
i definitely agree though, like, i can’t aggressively fight for one ship over another because it’s literally just not canon. it just feels wrong to “shove that agenda”, so to speak. but it’s always interesting to see all the different character combinations. i never would’ve imagined half of the ones out there if not for this fandom LOL
neutinya’s literally why I have a thing for KuroIwa!! LMAO. i really like the art that they put out. same with bright_stars_45 on IG. Their stuff is literally why i ship Bokuaka soooo hard.
(7) (did I skip 5?) I really hope I'm numbering those right it's 12:30 am here lol. anyway, it's probably a good thing you weren't in the fandom then. I don't know how it is now, but it was p chaotic and toxic and there was actually controversy surrounding one of those fics. I'm sorry about you and your sister love :( I don't know if you'd ever want to have a strong one with her but I hope you do if you do! and if not then there will always be people you share that with, blood or not 💕
LOL you did skip 5, but it’s okay bby 💖 it’s not too serious tbh. i’m not really close to my family, so i’ve always believed in the “my family is the one’s i choose, not necessarily the one’s i’m blood-related to” :)
(8) Piglet has always been my fave, but Eeyore and Lumpy are also great. do you have any favorite characters or ones that mean a lot to you? and that's really cool too!! I know being mixed can get super complicated but knowing you have all of those cultures in you in some way is pretty amazing. Honestly I've been undecided for the past 2 years but after everything going on in 2020, I've felt this need to release the truth? no matter what that may be. I know a lot of people say journalism
(9) isn't an honest profession but, and this will sound arrogant, I want to change that. Even if that just means me being an independent journalist while being an editor to make a living, I'm okay with that. Also it can give you the opportunity to travel, and writing has always been my strong suit. socio is so I can have a better understanding of the world and learn to be less biased and more objective and understanding. What about you? :O
my favorite Disney character is honestly Tiana from Princess and the Frog! her hard-working story is hella relatable to me, and it inspired me to be better for myself if that makes sense?
TBH the most annoying part of being mixed is being called eXoTiC by guys who are tryna sleep with me 💀 there’s definitely a lot of fetishization about it lol
i hella respect that! the need to release the truth. journalism is honestly a raw and authentic profession that people underestimate because they read from biased sources or the things they read isn’t accurate. i have mad respect for you for following that career path! if there’s anything i could do to help, lmk love 💖 TBH, i chose business because i wanted to open my own business and i love psych because i love understanding the world and the people in my lives. psycho-analysing is one of my hobbies hehe. so similar as to why you did socio!
(10) and yes!!!! tbh I've always liked theatre but was never really one for the stage. I was in a child friendly version of macbeth in 6th grade and that was it lol. In my senior year of high school I performed a slam poem about my depression and my teacher called me emotionally constipated lmaoo. and because of how hs went down for me I never got to take classes anyway. I started getting into sfx/film makeup though and I really want to do that! I also just love the energy of backstage tbh
(11) this is getting really long akfdjh. but yeah I want to learn more! I'm actually kind of struggling in my stage management class right now because I honestly don't know much about theatre so it's overwhelming. I haven't even seen a lot of shows (I did see The Lion King when I was a kid though!! and a few hs productions). enough about me though, what's your favorite part, or what are some of your best memories? I love seeing that it makes you so happy :D
omg i’m so sorry that your teacher called you that. that’s so inappropriate, especially considering the subject matter. i hope that you’ve had a more positive experience involving your work since then. if you ever want to talk about your struggle, please feel free to reach out, ok?
you must be pretty talented with makeup though! that’s so cool 🤩 i’ve always admired sfx and people who are talented with makeup tbh. what’s your favorite part about it so far?
i was fortunate enough that my hs had a super talented theatre program that i could be a part of. i had the opportunity to be in both tech, management, and on-stage. i honestly really enjoyed being behind-the-scenes in the management part! it was so great seeing a production from start to finish and knowing that i was involved with that process. i’m a huge theatre nerd tbh 😅 i love watching shows like Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, RENT and I’ll routinely watch them haha.

PLL 7x17 Driving Miss Crazy - Thoughts
- LOVED the episode. Entertaining from start to finish! Look, we all knew that “answers every week” is bullshit. I say this every week, but we’ve waited so many years, so we can wait 3 more weeks. So let’s just set aside the fact that we get no answers and just appreciate the fast pace and lack of fillers. I’m glad that the build up to the almighty answers-episode is fun. Season 7 really is the best season to date in my opinion.
- This episode should've been called Mona Mania, instead of that season 3 episode! She owned this episode. I won't even list everything she did that justifies her walking around town with a crown on her head. You know all the reasons. Just every Mona scene was so damn entertaining.
- NO ALI!!! Instant success!!! It felt like a good old season 4 episode. I say this a lot but Ali still feels like the outsider to the group. The dynamics just work better with Spencer, Hanna, Aria and Emily. I love those 4 together. Ali still doesn't fit in the group, in my eyes. I might feel like that because we had 4 whole seasons with just the 4 of them so I’m too used to it and I never adapted to the change properly when she came back in 5A. No hate on Sasha, but I’m just not a fan of Ali’s character, I’ve always thought they ruined her once she came back from the dead. This episode just had great vibes without her, just like 713.
- Hastings drama was on point. Nolan is doing an amazing job playing Peter.
- We did it! Another thing this Tumblr community guessed right: Aria was filing a police report against Ezra during the time she found out he was writing a book. It’s a shame they’re not going further and doing the abortion story, but I still like this.
- MARY!! Welcome back. I actually feel sorry for her. I think she’s the most misunderstood character ever in PLL history.
- I did really enjoy the plot twist that Peter and Jessica were planning to kill Mary but she intercepted and killed Jessica. Self defence. I never saw that coming. It doesn't change the final outcome that Mary killed Jessica, but it’s a nice additional layer to the overall story to show just how complex this mystery is. I appreciated and enjoyed that unnecessary layer.
- Ezra pisses me off SO MUCH. He’s so blind. He’s so stupid. Just like last week, he thinks everything is about him. “You still don't trust me because I wrote a book?” UMMMM NO???? Two weeks ago (PLL timeline) Hanna was abducted and EVERYONE, including Ezra, got a message from someone named AD, and the twin of a dead woman rocked up in town. Why has Ezra forgotten all of this??? Does he think AD just packed up and went home?? Does he think Hanna’s abduction was just a prank gone wrong and that all the messages about ‘find Hanna before it’s too late’ was just for fun? He saw ‘Hanna’ hanging from ropes in the bell tower, and he thinks the thing bothering Aria is trust issues from 6 years ago? Open your eyes Ezra. Someone is messing with your fiancé again. Not everything is about you.
- On a positive note I did appreciate his comments about regret with the book situation. I know that was very sincere. But get a hold of reality. Aria’s change of mood is not about you, ffs.
- Did that shirt from Radley belong to Spencer’s twin? Idk, just something to think about.
- The fact that AD is trying to break apart the Hastings house feels like AD has a vendetta against the Hastings. Perhaps, Twincer is angry they adopted Spencer but not herself? Revenge?
- Spencer’s numberplate was CHD. I know we shouldn't be looking into this stuff because not once have these had meaning, but, I couldn't help but think back to Charles DiLaurentis.
- Thank god the musical number was short. I mean, I enjoyed it, and Janel can sing, but it did feel a bit random and out of nowhere. Perhaps that’s because I was so immersed in the episode and enjoying it so much, that when that came on, the pace was ruined out of nowhere. But judging it for what it is, standalone, it was cool! I don't understand Lucy’s comments that all the girls were in it? Were they, and I just didn’t see them? haha
- I’m surprised Spencer hasn't pieced together that Aria is doing this. The earring... bringing dinner then leaving? I don't know about you guys but not once in my entire life have I driven to my friends house to drop off dinner for them and then leave? That’s just weird. Some might say it’s a polite gesture... and it is, but it’s weirdly polite. No one does that?? “Hey I brought you dinner! Ok I’m going now!” wtf?
- Can Marco just arrest them already!? They’re dwindling on this story for too long. Too much talking, not enough action.
- The episode felt incomplete. I don't like how they’re dragging on a few storylines into the next episode, such as Aria’s reward (we know it was her files... but I wanted to actually read them in detail) and the doctor’s ID. Those storylines were the stories of THIS episode. Episode 17 was about THOSE things - they should’ve got total resolution, to define the episode and say “episode 17 revolved around these things”. I was just waiting for them to say Wren’s name (in regards to the doctor who did the procedure). And it never came. This episode should’ve had just one more reveal of sorts. And I don’t like that they didn’t just reveal things then and there. Oh and also the puzzle pieces... I thought with 2 more pieces, we’d get a better idea of what the pieces are forming. But no. So that was a tiny bit disappointing, that Aria did all that work and she/we still didn’t really get much out of it.
- That ending confirmed for me that Mona is not AD. It’s too obvious. I know CeCe was obvious because they literally showed her in a hoodie... but this is different. This is too close to the finale. I don’t believe Mona is AD. Instead, Mona wants to win the liars’ trust back so she’s working to solve the game, rather than administer the game to them. Also she is saving their assess by taking the shovels/potential evidence - it’s good not bad. Unfortunately this all comes back to Mona dying in the finale. She’ll get way too close to AD’s identity, and then AD will kill her. Thankfully, the girls will pickup where Mona left off and end it themselves. Then, they'll realise they couldn't have done it without Mona. So sad, but it’s a great story arc especially for a series finale.
- Caleb’s talk about Hanna to Ashley was adorable. That was a really well done scene. I loved their tent scene with the rings and Hanna bringing the bottle because she anticipated Caleb would say “yes I meant those words”. We all know the writers chose a tent because that’s where they spent their first night - I like that attention to detail. Terrible song choice... oh my gosh. Why not just use the same song as 1x19 (I think that was the episode?) Nostalgia always sells.
- Overall, my second favourite episode this season! 8.5/10. I really did like it. Again, I’ve gotten over the fact that we don't get answers every episode. It was a lie, yes, but I’m not going to sit here and whinge when the answers are just 3 weeks away anyway. I’m just taking the episodes for what they are, disregarding all comments from writers, and I’m loving the ride. Fast paced, good writing, amazing mystery/story. Decent romance too - coming from someone who only watches for mystery, they’re doing well. I honestly would’ve rated this a 10/10 episode if they just went that extra mile and revealed the doctor’s name (Wren), showed us Aria’s reward properly AND give us insight into what the puzzle pieces are forming. The episode felt incomplete that they started stories this episode and never resolved them completely. But nonetheless, it was amazing. No Ali definitely contributed to that ;) 8.5 might seem high for an episode with no answers, but I was entertained from start to finish, no fillers, decent romance, really good mystery... can’t say much bad other than it feeling incomplete. This was an episode of PLL doing what it does best. IF ONLY THEY JUST GAVE A LITTLE BIT MORE IN THE FINAL MINUTES.
EDIT: SORRY I MEAN DONOR - NOT DOCTOR. It’s 2.30am right now, and I just finished watching the episode. I was going to watch it in the morning but I stayed up to get this post out - I always get messages asking when my thoughts post will be up!

First line of a WIP you’re working on. - No matter how many she saw, Siora couldn’t get used to Outer Land bars.
20. Post a snippet of a WIP you’re working on. - “In a shocking plot twist, the rich Kitonian girl used to be a thief,” Linde said, mimicking some sort of announcer.
“Are you just here to add sarcastic commentary?” Siora glared at them.
She seems to glare at them a lot, Dema thought.
“That’s the whole reason I’m following you,” they said, then added, “Don’t give me that look, you know I don’t really care about the war.”
“My question is why is Siora still putting up with you,” Asteria laughed.
“Don’t give me any ideas,” The Beati girl grumbled, a smile playing on her lips.
“Oh yes, don’t encourage her. She might try to hurt me with one of her toothpicks.”
Dema laughed, “Don’t insult a lady’s knives, it’s not wise.”
“What’s a lady?” The Gerum asked, feigning confusion.
“Dema is a lady,” Asteria kissed the girl on the cheek, laughing.
“Doesn’t seem very ladylike to me,” Siora snorted.
“Like you’re one to talk,” Dema shot back.
“If anyone here is a lady, it’s me,” Linde said, sticking their nose in the air.
“You aren’t even a girl!” Asteria shrieked, grinning.
“Fair enough,” They nodded.

Do you base your characters of real people or not? If so, tell us about one.- not characters i like. sometimes background redshirts are based on people i hate so that i can kill them40. Original Fiction or Fanfiction, and why? - both. I love writing fanfiction, but i also have a lot of original stories to tell41. How many stories do you work on at one time? - only one at a time for me42. How do you figure out your characters looks, personality, etc. - a lot of the time it just comes to me, but i also answer ask memes like this as that character43. Are you an avid reader? - y e s 44. Best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten. - hm im really not sure45. Worst piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten. - most unhelpful? “it sucked ass” - daedalus46. What would your story look like as a tv show or movie? - o h dude i would love to see it as a movie it would be a really cool fantasy aesthetic omg the effects for the shapeshifters would be so cool to see
47. Do you start with characters or plot when working on a new story? - this story actually started with setting48. Favorite genre to write in. - YA isnt a genre is it? technically fantasy i guess49. What do you find the hardest to write in a story, the beginning, the middle or the end? - the middle for sure50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had. - idk abt story idea but when i was 12 i killed a character by turning him into a tortilla ¯\_(ツ)_/¯51. Describe the aesthetic of your story in 5 sentences or words. - fantasy eclectic influence and design.52. How did writing change you? - honestly writing poetry gave me a way to express my feelings safely. it honest to gods helped me stop self-harming.53. What does writing mean to you? - to me it means putting my ideas and thoughts and self into the world in a way that people (hopefully) read and enjoy54. Any writing advice you want to share? - start writing and dont stop. if you think that its crap, remember that everything starts as crap, and if you think no one in the world wants to read it, remember that i definitely want to read it if you tell me about it.
tysm for asking omg!

hmm so that uh,,, fic i was writing
the one i talked about the other day uhhHH it’s 619 words now & i think it’s done? like i’ve come to a point where i could call it done but i really want to add more to it and make it so that rather than a standalone short little thing it’s more like an introduction for a longer fic?
but the problem with that is there’s a much smaller chance of me actually finishing it if i do that because like. i have a concept for what i want the general /theme/ of the fic to be but no actual ideas for a plot or anything and i mean i’d be fine planning smth out & then going for it, but idk if im gonna be able to stick to a project that big in the long run? i mean it’s not like im setting out to write a big huge 50k multichap or anything, i was thinkin more like. around 4k maybe
but yeah idk because the thing is. this 600 word thing was more of a conceptual style of writing as opposed to like. scenes with dialogue and actions & stuff. writing in vague concepts and metaphors is very much suited to my writing style and i mean i can do scenes with plot but it takes way more out of me to do, which is why im worried i wont finish if i try it (though i wonder if planning it out beforehand would make things easier on that front?)
im just conflicted bc i really like how this short version came out & i rly want to share it but if im gonna add more later i want it all to be one thing together, not different chapters or different parts of a series, u know? it has to be Together
ugh i just really want this to come out nice; i guess technically this one is a second draft of the one i was previously working on? because ok the fic i was working on at first was literally just supposed to be the dumbest self-indulgent shit just to get it out of my system but the more i worked on it the more i started caring about it and wanting to make it good which meant me realizing that it was just. bad and unrealistic and lacking the Punch that i wanted (bc i tend to get very carried away when writing angst Whoops)
so i decided to start over and really try to explore this concept with the depth it deserves rather than just basically writing “I’M SAD” for 2,000 words gdjkjskdg it was like. the previous version was me hardcore projecting onto the characters (which i mean theres nothing wrong with that it was meant to be bullshit in the first place) and that was a good rough draft like good stage one
now Stage Two is examining the characters and tweaking the situation to be more realistic for them (while still secretly projecting onto them from the back row heheuehaehaheho) and idk just treating it more like a character analysis than anything? exploring their own thoughts and feelings & then throwing them into a room together and seeing how they interact based on those feelings
i guess my goal with this second version is to imply things rather than state them outright which is p much what i was doing the first time. like, the first one was very in your face about how Sad the characters were when in reality said characters tend to be very secretive about their emotions so it should be a lot less straightforward and more like, something u can piece together throughout the course of the fic, and if it’s ever straightforward about the sadness, it should be after there’s been enough time to see it coming, u know. give it a proper buildup. foreshadowing and all that. i know how to write
so yeah uh HOPEFULLY i can get myself to write a thing bc if i can pull it off i think it will be.... very cool..... and also a good writing exercise like not just arranging words to sound good but like putting together a story and trying to integrate themes and make characters feel real and yes if i think about it that way i think this can be fun
uh the end (sorry this was such a vague MESS)
#retag later#talkin bout stuff#sorry this is stupid i just wanted to talk this out. idk why im being so vague it's just a fanfic
