Have you ever made an OC from a Fandom that you don't participate in that much? Or that you don't have much of a connection to?
#i did it#I watched the New Mutants movie#and I was wondering what happens to mutants with mutations that are not suitable for combat and so on.#but since they are superhero comics#they will always focus on creating mutants with combat-oriented abilities#but what if a mutant didn't have powers that even the X-Men were interested in?#and that not even Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants was interested in recruiting them for their cause?#I think Professor X would try to welcome them but they would just be left aside during missions.#fandom#oc#ocs#creating ocs#to create ocs#creation of ocs

Stuff
Here I'll write couple fun facts about random characters and other things in my AU
BAYVILLE SIRENS!!!
Once a week all mutant girls from Bayville go on a 'girl sleepover', meanwhile actually they dress up in their cool clothes and go to kick ass. The OG team you most likely know(Jean, Amara, Tabitha, Kitty and Rogue), but like I wrote, in my AU every mutant girl from Bayville is one of the sirens and if some mutant girl is not on the team, it's not a problem! She's more than welcome to join Bayville sirens, because more girls - more fun.
Also, Bayville Sirens is such impactfull thing, as soon as it becomes more popular and other towns and cities find out about it, mutant girls or just girl with superpowers from other places team up with each other to kick asses just like Bayville sirens. However, girls with bad intentions exist and they kinda ruin this thing by committing crimes and calling themselves 'sirens' and that confuses many people and makes this vigilante thing even more questionable and controversial than it already was, so, more than half of sirens that were stopping criminals now stopped their vigilante careers.
That's upsetting, yes, so Bayville sirens decides to stop these evil copycats, and just like they expected, they've stopped them. At least some good news for them in these hard times. Obviously, the fact that they've stopped it didn't made all other sirens return back, but it still made few and that's enough.
S.H.I.E.L.D. and Brotherhood
Unlike Proffesor X, Nick Fury don't believe that freaking teenagers can make good decisions on what to do with their lives, not to mention that they all grew up either with no parents or just shitty ones, so he believes they need a nice good push in a great direction. His direction, his S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy, to be exact. Selfish, perhaps even immoral from one point of view, from the other? Kids will live in a safe space with good conditions for living and no evil bitches that'll give them commands, besides no one's gonna judge them and everyone here is welcome.
Fury is even dissapointed with Charles, but fr, if everyone is welcome at your academy for youngsters then why Brotherhood kids isn't a part of it? Oh, they're not ready to be here? Yeah, tell me about it. After seeing how Spider-Man succesfully recruited so many young heroes with just his frienly behaviour, Fury actually asks himself a question about what the actual hell is going on in Bayville and mutants?
So Fury thinks really hard and decides to sent few of his agents to Bayville High School just to check wth is happening there. Soon it's revealed that Brotherhood teens are under strong influence of Mystique and Magneto, and he expected it. So, to recruit kids he has to deal with two devils. That's a hard task, but not impossible! So now his agents doing most possible to find a way how to separate kiddos from child abusers.
Ben and Spider Slayers
In the show they died as quiickly, as they appeared on the screen, but not in my AU!
In my AU Ben adopts these guys at some point, after defeating Kaine and making sure do it in a way none of them dies. Then he claims to be the oldest brother here. No one objects, since they...can't object? That's a problem. Being able to say No is a really important skill and now they have weekly lessons like this.
Their brotherhly hierarchy goes like: Ben, Goliath, Ghost and Bone. Soon enough Spider Slayers get the idea that their purpose is something they can choose and it's not just follow Ben's orders. Shocking, surprising, bizarre information strikes them hardly. They need time to think about it. And they do think about it. They even ask other students at S.H.I.E.L.D. academy what it's like to be 'normal'.
And after some time of thinking and adjusting to new lifestyle Slayers find their first hobbies! Goliath's hobie is GYM, he has undeniable passion to lift up extremely heavy things so powerlifting is his first hobbie. Ghost is interested in acting and drama, he starts often going to thatres, whatever play is there, he'll be there. That makes him also interested in literature and soon he low-key becomes emo and tries to write his own poems. I really wanted to write that Bone Spider is fortnite player, but something stops me so...Bone is a fan of Sonic, and a huge one. In just a two or three weeks he played in every Sonic game that exists and now he often asks for money to buy Sonic Merch.
Ben is so proud of them, even though he doesn't understand their hobbies, but it's nice to see your younger bros that were just your followers to have a life now.
Gwenpool
This girl is wild and she is EVERYWHERE. At this point whenever X-Men or Champions need an extra help she's somehow always there! It makes them all feel a bit suspicious of her, like, is she stalking us or something? The truth is....Yeh, Aroace Icon sometimes spies on them just for fun. They'll never know though.
Also, yes, she's an ally of X-Men and Champions, but who said she can't ve friends with people outside these teams? She's a little bit besties with Tabtitha/Boom Boom from Brotherhood, after all she's also down for every opportunity to make things fun, even if it can get crazy. In any case, Gwen is easy outgoing person that easily becomes friends with people(just like Evan/Spyke).
That's how she befriended with MJ before all that Carnage mess and also that's how she befriened with other Gwen. "Twinsies!" - she most likely said after getting to know Stacy, not exactly caring that she borrows Ms Marvel's saying.

What kind of relationship does Magneto have with Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes and Namor?
So your choice of individuals implies that this relationship would be based on these characters' common experiences during WWII, but I feel compelled to issue a reminder that Max Eisenhardt/Erik Lensherr did not have his powers during the war and wasn't a combatant - he was an civilian who spent his teenage years in the camps, although he did participate in the Revolt of the Sonderkommando and was one of the lucky ones who weren't recaptured. So Max/Erik is significantly younger than Rogers and Namor - and I'm just going to overlook the weirdness of Barnes' age - and has a very different life experience.
However, Max/Erik did encounter these men as an adult, once he had become Magneto - which becomes something of a complicated issue, because his time with them uncomfortably straddles the pretty severe personality retcon Magneto experienced between the Silver Age and the Bronze Age.
To give one example of what I'm talking about, in X-Men #6, Magneto tries to recruit Namor into his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants but Namor isn't particularly interested. So Magneto essentially tries to pimp out the Scarlet Witch to Namor to get him to change his mind:
In retrospect, this scene is made doubly uncomfortable by the fact that the Scarlet Witch is (at the moment, I think) Magneto's daughter. More broadly, while this incident is still canon, it's not exactly compatible with the character of Magneto that Chris Claremont constructed between X-Men #111 and X-Men #161.
So if we confine ourselves to the latter-day Magneto, some interesting things emerge about his relationships with these characters:
Magneto and Namor don't really get along, in part because they're way too similar as people - they're both absurdly powerful individuals, they're both incredibly proud and touchy men, and they're both motivated by a sense of noblesse oblige to their chosen communities. They can occasionally temporarily ally, they can be civil for the duration of a Hellfire Gala, but they'll never be comfortable in one another's presence long-term.
Magneto finds Steve Rogers existentially baffling. Remember, Magneto's entire worldview is founded on the belief that violent struggle between the oppressed and the oppressors - whether that's the working-class and the bourgeoisie, the Jews and the Nazis, or mutants and humans - is inevitable and irrepressible, and that peaceful co-existence is impossible because the oppressors will always turn on the oppressed.
To his way of thinking, a flagsuit superhero like Captain America who claims to exemplify a nation, especially a nation like the United States with its rich history of oppressing minorities, ought to be a bastion of the kind of xenophobia he believes all humans feel towards mutants. And yet...
Magneto and Bucky Barnes...haven't really interacted as far as I can tell, outside of some meaningless fights in Marvel: Civil War. I don't know what they think of each other, or if they even do.

X-Men Evolution sequel RP (1x1, Canons Only)
youtube
20+ rp veteran here. Does anyone else love and remember the X-Men: Evolution series from the early 00s? I know I still love it, even after all of these years. I always wondered what happened in the future in the world of that show, besides Professor X's visions, of course. To anyone who loved that show, I have an RP plot proposal. It involved the OG cast of the show, Some X-Men, Magneto and a number of the New Mutants, training 6 to 8 new mutant characters in their teens, from the comics (Basically anyone who never made it into the show for whatever reason is up for grabs), to become a version of X-Factor. The rules apply as follows:
1: Partner must be willing and, more importantly, able to write a long-term story. 2: Partner must be 19 or older. 3: Must be Literate or, at least, semi-literate. 4: Must be able and willing to play multiple canon characters at once. 5: Must be a fan of the series and have seen the ending.
6: Comic and Cartoon AU Canon characters only. Sorry. :(
With all that out of the way, let me show you the plot. Please read in full. Hope you like it. :) ___________________________________
The game's story takes place 11 years after the end of Evo. In other words, in 2014. Professor X and Jean Grey died 4 years ago during the event that came to be known as ''The Phoenix Saga.'' The old X-Mansion at Bayside, Massachusetts, has been closed ever since. During this time, Mutants, at least the more human-looking ones, are now more readily accepted by the population, thanks to Charles Xavier's sacrifice, the reformation of Magneto and the previous work of the X-Men themselves, making the need for the team's heroics seemingly un needed, leaving the team to break up and live the lives of celebrity superheroes.(All the former X-Men are now (mostly) in their late 20s/Early 30s now, obviously)
Nowadays, the Former members of the Brotherhood, now Working for S.H.I.E.L.D as their “Freedom Force” task-force and the New Mutants, now having partially gone their separate ways, are the closest things there are to them. (The former are mostly government wetwork agents and mercenaries.) Then, one day, a month before the start of the new school year in Bayside, the long-reformed Magneto, along with several others from the old cast, decide to return to their old, teenage stomping grounds, to reopen the Old School for Gifted Youngsters in the Professor and Jean's honor. Why? In response to two new threats to mutantkind and the world!
Those threats are 1:The recently established and secret ''Hellfire Academy'', An underground school and boarding house, founded to train young mutants to use their powers for the overthrow of humanity and the conquest of Earth. Led by its headmistress, the Telepathic mutant Emma Frost aka The White Queen, with its main teacher being Mystique, seeking to finally claim her revenge on the X-Men and her former Master.
2: An anti-mutant hate group calling themselves "The Friends of Humanity", who, unable to accept the growing acceptance of mutantkind in society, have banded together in order to persecute, attack and kill the ''dirty muties;'' that they believe will one day enslave Homosapien kind.
In order to protect their new students, The OG X-men have bought the old Xavier Mansion in secret under pseudonyms, maintaining the pretense of preserving and restoring the old house for prosperity while keeping it, seemingly, uninhabited. With Cerebro back online, (no longer needing a telepathic link to function due to technological enhancements,) a new class of 6 to 8 teenage mutants, all with very comparatively peaceful and normal lives up to this point, save for the anti-mutant hate they may or may not endure, will soon find those lives put on indefinite hold as they find themselves lured, recruited and, inevitably, declared humanity and mutant-kind's new hope for a peaceful world. ___________________________ Please dm me here and If you’re interested, I’ll link you to my discord.

okay, trying to sort out how the last stand would play out with this AU. the last stand is largely predicated on magneto being in his absolute worst place when he responds to the (very real) threat of mutant annihilation. also marie is not present during the film because she's off getting "cured", and jean is busy being phoenix and also reborn.
if we dont have her die, we give charles time to catch that phoenix is breaking through and attempt to contain her, and if we have logan and crew working on magneto we have a chance for him to respond in a much more coordinated way that's less sacrificial of his underlings, and perhaps doesnt lead to him abandoning mystique.
i'm thinking that when they hear about the cure, one of them(let's just say logan because i like playing favorites) needs to say "we have to go to the x-men about this." and when magneto's like tf we do, thats stupid, they need to double down and say "they already put pressure on the president to fight for mutant rights, so charles is clearly coming around, and if the government seriously has this weapon? we need every mutant we can get working with us. and the x-men are annoying, but they are powerful, and they're used to working as a team. if we can just get them on our side, we have a much better shot at winning this war. you say charles used to see reason. let's make him see reason now."
storm is VERY up in arms about this "cure", everyone sees the danger in it and how it'll be used against people, but maybe jean with phoenix threatening to burst through is the first one to say that she thinks they should actually join forces and take the fight to the government? charles is afraid of escelation, but her siding with the brotherhood is like a domino effect that gets everyone saying "this is dangerous and it needs to be stopped" and they hesitantly join forces
i imagine the x-men push for it to be a stealth mission without the use of escaped criminals, for it to not be a war or a giant battle. i think magneto wouldnt like that, maybe still pushes to recruit as many bodies as he can. in the beginning of the film, mystique has already been apprehended, so breaking her out is high priority to him, and why leave mutants behind to suffer in human hands when they could be used in a fight? the x-men say no, but magneto works using his own plans
mystique still gets shot with the "cure", but this time magneto doesnt abandon her, but instead sees her as something like a "fallen comrade". it rocks the foundations of their relationship, changes something fundamentally between them, but the potential for a future relationship is no longer shattered, because magneto's intense human hatred has waned. yay! fic of this story would really linger on this moment and use it as a turning point for his character, where abandoning her wouldve meant the destruction of his Self, and bringing her back to the mansion means the potential for his own redemption.
also, it means when mystique goes and gives the suits everything as a human, it's actually a clever ploy to look like a schism in their ranks, but it was actually planned to get a majority of their forces uselessly out in the woods. instead of being a coincidence, it's on purpose! and mystique gets to leave because she acted as an informant! even as a human, she's still changing shapes to get what she wants out of people
rogue is no longer interested in a cure, having spent a long time training her powers and learning to love them under a tutor who thinks incredibly(maybe, arguably, too) highly of mutations. logan keeps her balanced so she doesnt go off the deep end of fanaticism, but she's in a much more stable place.
okay not sure how the showdown would go down... storm outside causing raging winds to blow all the fired "cures" away from the mutants, and to keep eyes on her, while a small team sneaks inside? im thinking rogue for her touch of death/knock people out, kitty pryde for her walking through walls, and some sort of actual fighter chaperone(scott?), plus maybe someone to act as a human shield(colossus?)
that leaves a lot of people on the front lines, magneto, logan, wade, charles, storm, and jean. oh plus kids from the school who are ready for it, so bobby and a few others, and that pyro kid who went with magneto in X2. (i forgor about him. pretend my summary of X2 included a defector from the x-men to the brotherhood). plus the criminals magneto busted, minus that one body double guy who was a woods diversion. sorry body double guy whose name i forgot!
they're not killing any humans, much to magneto's chagrin, and logan is having a really hard time not slashing people with his big scary claws. mostly he just destroys plastic guns with them.
the plan then is to get the kid out, and also destroy the "cure" and all research they can find on it, while the majority of the crew distracts everyone out front. rogue uses her powers to render guards unconcious along the way, because she's well trained with them now, and kitty is pulling the group past clearance-requiring doors. they start by destroying all research they come across, and heading into the bowels of the facility to wipe all the computers, and then they go to get the kid, knowing that kitty's powers wont work once she's near him and they'll have to break their way out.
im thinking outside some mutants SHOULD go down to the "cure". the easy answer is a few of the kids and some of the criminals, but some part of the main crew would make it feel less contrived. i'd say either logan or storm-- storm getting taken out would leave a massive hole in their defenses, and logan would still be a formidable fighter but he'd become a liability in the fight if he were suddenly de-powered. plus, these are two people who care about their powers, especially in a logan joining the brotherhood AU, so it would be really painful for them.
then, just as the inside team makes their way outside and the outside team is finishing up with thr soldiers, phoenix breaks through jean's mind and starts wreaking havoc on both sides, professor x's barriers finally giving way. she's hurt, and angry, and just wants to cause destruction. charles tries to fight her off, but she's so much stronger than him. but then, the child sees her, and darts away from kitty pryde. he's small, and slight, and isnt even noticed by her until he's right on top of her, nullifying her powers and giving one of her teammates the chance to stick her with one of the "cures" laying on the ground.
in the comics, phoenix/phoenix force is like an entity that posesses jean, and not an alternate personality locked in her mind. i understand why they changed it for the films, but if we pull this back in, we could say that they were unaware she was the host for this being, it and not her subconcious is what xavier had originally locked away(unknowingly on his part), and getting the "cure" makes her an nonviable host, shunting it out of her mind, freeing her from its influence.
they spirit the child away in the jet, grieving their losses, but having sent the message that they wont stand for the eradication of their kind. the government will strike back, theyre sure, but for now more mutants are safe, and they can protect this child from being an experiment.
then, of course, several months pass and it turns out the "cure" was always a temporary suppression, a faint blue beginning to peek through on mystique's shoulders, a glass on jean's table wobbling as she puts all her focus into it.
charles and erik get to fuck nasty in the mansion, logan gets some time off to get dicked down without having to go on missions, rogue gets to feel powerful and useful, and jean is free of the specter haunting her mind, while the mutant population is pritected from a new weapon that wouldve been used against them
ok i THINK. that manages to stay. a little bit IC. and making sense. while also fixing shit. i think that's how the AU would go
ok, logan joins the brotherhood AU. xmen2000 happens very similar, but logan and rogue are on magneto's side, and logan knows a lot more about his past without actually remembering any of it. the timeline is stretched out instead of condensed into a few days, because it gives everyone more time to bond and more time for Things to Happen. we're putting deadpool in there in his slightly more morally loose much more merc-y self as hired muscle, because i like him. charles invades logan's mind during a conflict to try and pursuade him to the "good side" as xavier sees it, uncovers old memories that logan had heard about but not remembered firsthand, he decides he hates that shit and never wants someone in his head again so magneto agrees to surgically implant the same metal/circuitry that's in his helmet directly on logan's skull. no psychic is ever gettin in fort knox again, logan's brain is his own. through their newfound bond, logan starts deradicalizing magneto against specifically human hatred-- not the need to fight back against injustice or the genuine war against mutants that's on the way, but the idea of mutants being evolutionarily superior. he's actually making headway, good for him. the plan to have rogue sacrifice herself is instead a plan for her to absorb magneto's AND WOLVERINE'S powers+lifeforce, so she will survive. the x-men still stop their plan, but not before half the summit gets mutated, because wade is there to fight them off. the majority of the brotherhood gets away, but magneto is arrested, and they dont know where he's held. during all these events, the brotherhood including marie, logan, and wade have become like a little polycule/family, so this is a massive hit to morale, but mystique still decides to work things from the inside disgused as a now-reformed mutant hating senator.
X2 happens. logan's been trying to keep the brotherhood together with erik gone and mystique busy playing someone else, but it's a pretty small group. instead of logan left at the manor, colossus is given the honor, and he gets as many kids out as he can when the mansion is invaded, while bobby and pyro escape by hotwiring a car and calling the x-men to let them know what's going on. obviously the magneto escape plan goes off as does in canon, with logan's feathers ruffled that he couldnt be a part of it on account of metal skeleton. in the scene where the two disparate groups meet, it's the x-men(ororo, jean, nightcrawler, bobby, pyro) meeting the fully reformed brotherhood(magneto, mystique, wolverine, rogue, deadpool). bit of sparks between jean and logan, but jean Fully does not like or trust the brotherhood and logan literally doesnt even know she's married so the "women marry good guys" "i could be a good guy" scene plays out much harsher, but also he's not cut /quite/ as deep because he doesnt know this woman. it just reaffirms to him his commitment to the brotherhood and their ideals and their family, because he doesnt feel rejected there, and his ideals arent under attack. he was always gonna feel that way tho so its not revolutionary. logan still splits off from the group when he sees stryker, because even though he thought he closed that chapter of his life he still does have questions about his past and he feels compelled. this means he's not around to talk magneto out of his plan to target humans instead of mutants, which is a major schism in the brotherhood when he finds out about it later. they do pass each other in the hall, though, as magneto and mystique make their way towards the helicopter and logan makes his way back inside. magneto says theyre leaving, and logan says he has to go back. "i'll leave with rogue and deadpool in the jet, you two get out of here." he says. magneto asks if he's sure, and logan says "most of the mutants in here are kids. i cant just leave them." and magneto watches him carefully for a moment, then claps him on the shoulder. tells him good luck, my friend. they nod. magneto and mystique leave in the jet, while logan rushes inside. the end plays out pretty similar, with logan not as devestated because he didn't have that relationship with jean, but it's still rough to see such blatant self-sacrifice from someone he did ostensibly respect despite being on different sides.
obviously when the x-men appear as a group to the president, logan and marie aren't there, but that active role in trying to influence politics for the better ends up being the unknowing laying of foundations for the eventual merging of the brotherhood and xavier's institute, its the first stone layed that the other side needed to see

Spoilers for X-Men Red #6
- WHAT THE FUCK EWING
- this issue gave me an orgasm with all the sex allegories and reveals
- I'm in love with Craig Marshall of NASA already. It's good to see a human in the Marvel Comics Universe that's just a regular folk that's not a bigoted racist moron. He's just a regular guy doing his best in an apocalypse. I like that he's trying to protect a bunch of Arakkii children (side note I'm a bit appalled that they kill children in the Abyssal Prisons, everyday I'm happier Magneto bodied Tarn) even though he's just a human. Also I like that it shows the Arakkii are actually quite hospitable in their own way, they accept and trust an outsider to ~~help~~ contribute to the shared work, of defending the Broken Land. There are of course crazy creepy survival of the fittest zealots in Arakko, but most anyone is just a normal l, albeit hardened warrior, people.
- ALL HAIL TABLE DAY! That panel of Storm, Lactuca, and Sobunar floating is just ☠️☠️. I like how Storm asks to lead the fight because she knows this is a challenge to all and she's asking permission to join in the fight. I also like that she acknowledges that Lactuca could easily destroy the machine but that she wants to express herself. Sobunar is such a Omega daddy. Good to see speaking panels for him too. He makes a good point about guilt and responsibility to Storm. Additionally, Lactuca's powers is just awesome. I like how unconventional it's being shown throughout the chapter.
- Fisher King is of the Night Seats. Called it. Well that one was a bit obvious. But I like the little worldbuilding about the Night Seats. We get all of them revealed; we have the Fisher King (who is actually nameless - not Nameless the Shapeshifter- just that he has no name), we have a new face, Syzya of the Smoke who's basically Nightcrawler Tyrande, and the biggest plot twist of it all, we have freaking Sunspot as the third member of Night. I did not see that one coming, but it's a welcome surprise. I honestly didn't care or know much about Sunspot. I thought he was just a rich billionaor playboy who's biting more than he can chew, but damn am I wrong. You know how people's attracted to power? Well let's just say I'm caught in his stellar gravity.
- The reveal that Khora and Zsen are FK's daughters is surprising. Idk how to feel about that but I'm leaning to it being a good thing. Good to see Wrongslide getting some screen time too. Also, I like that no one is surprised about Brand's shady manipulations because everyone knows she's up to something and they're already planning for that (Wiz-kid, Cable, the Brotherhood)
- Magneto is so hot when he's angry and dying. I like how he says Team to Lodus Logos and Lodus and Xilo-as-of-now are like "wtf is that?". Note that Uranos knows that Arakko Prime is alive and sent one of his toys to kill it. I also like the dialogue he had with FK and the Night Seats. So it appears that Sunspot is actually pretty sneaky. He found the existence of Night Seats and convinced them to recruit him. The Night Seats is also comprised of Non Omega mutants which I think is a poetic check and balance to the rest of the GR.
- side note, I find it interesting that Apocalypse is actually the more "lenient" one between him and Genesis. He sees the value of creating mutant circuits whereas Genesis puts emphasis on individual strength. We also get to see her character flaw in that she's extremely prideful and disdainful of subtlety. She dissolved the Night Seats and had Ora Serrata blink them out of existence because she doesn't like that they are not Omega mutants yet they have power over her and the Great Ring's actions. One could say that this attitude pattern of hers contributed to Arakko's downfall.
- Storm and Magneto team up and all the sex imagery is the cream of the crop in this issue. Them forming a mutant circuit and Storm empowering Magneto is so freaking cool. (I'm not the only one who saw the ejaculation imagery when Magneto destroyed the silicone gorilla with white molten iron right????). Also "is this after care Ororo?" Aksjdbskdjjdksksbdk I ship them now.
- the last panel shot of the Brotherhood is just 😍😍😍. Even though none of them are more than 2 years old in comic terms, the line up is already feeling way better than the current X-Men line up (not that that one is bad per se). I guess the cool inhuman looking design is also a factor in the awesomeness.
- this issue is so good. It's a shame that all the build up of fighting Uranos is kinda thrown away/damaged by the 3 panel fight scene of Storm and Magneto just KOing Uranos (surprise surprise, it's Stark who saves the day 🙄) in Judgement Day #4. The only saving grace in that issue is the panel of Magneto dying in Storm's arms. I cried at that.

Peter Maximoff’s complicated relationship with Star Wars
Summary: Peter didn't like Star Wars. But not because they were bad movies, no. It's because they somehow were very similar to his own life, and they also showed him what might have been, had his twin lived long enough. This is the story of Peter Maximoff, told through the many similarities between the original trilogy and his own life.
*All Star Wars quotes are in italics*
Peter doesn’t like Star Wars
Don’t get him wrong, the movies are great. The first movie had come out when he was 22 years old, and he had found it amazing. He had never seen anything like it before and had sneaked into the movie theater to rewatch it with his twin several times.
‘I need your help, Luke.’
It was almost ironic how his life resembled some parts of the movie. Both he and Wendy had some characteristics of Luke and Leia. He was the goofball, the one who had been recruited to break someone out of an impenetrable prison. Hell, Charles could be Obi-Wan, the old wizard with strange mind control powers (though he didn’t have them at the time), Hank was Chewbacca, the fierce beast who was loyal to his family, and then the claw guy, Logan, was Han Solo. The dark-haired man with a don’t-mess-with-me attitude that would shoot you down without hesitation. That made him Luke, the farm boy that was raised isolated, unaware of the true danger. Only difference was that Erik wasn’t Leia, no he was Vader. Wendy was Leia, the fierce, loud mouthed, badass princess that didn’t let anyone boss her around.
They had loved the first movie, but then tragedy struck. His twin’s powers were always unpredictable, always on the verge of lashing out. He had tried to help as much as he could, but just a few months after their 23rd birthday, it was too much for Wendy to bear. She lost control and died, taking half a block with her. Peter did his best to carry on, but their lost connection was all he could feel. The aching emptiness that had always been occupied by his twin sister. It took awhile, but he did eventually go see the second Star Wars. It was... a bittersweet experience to say the least.
Seeing the big bad Vader being related to Luke really did a number on him. All he could think about was the fact that he too was related to a literal terrorist. Someone who had hurt hundred of people and would probably not hesitate to hurt him as well. And then it was revealed that Luke and Leia shared a connection, where they could hear each other and feel each other, and it just overwhelmed him. Minus the kissing (ew, that was gross, why did they even include that?!) Luke and Leia’s relationship reminded him of his and Wendy’s.
That’s why he wasn’t surprised when they were revealed to be twins in the next movie.
Actually, he had been surprised, but more about the fact that his grief took over for a moment. Seeing Leia try to reason with Luke, telling him that nothing good would come out of chasing Vader, their father... that was a conversation that had really happened after their mom told them who exactly was Magneto. Peter had decided to chase Erik down the moment he had resurfaced.
‘I won't fail - I'm not afraid.’
‘Oh, you will be. You will be.’
His mom had warned him about Magneto, how nothing good came out of chasing ghosts, but he had to try. A confrontation with the Dark Lord of the Sith.
Cloud city The mansion was full of people, and the place was exploding. He saved them all (minus one), of course, because that’s what he did. Why be a speedster if you can’t save people from catastrophe?
‘Luke, don't - it's a trap!’
Yeah, it had been a trap, alright. But unlike Luke, he hadn’t had Leia to warn him. So, the carbon freezing chamber knock out gun had worked. That’s how he ended up captured by the government and woke up in a weird green room. The others, he could understand why they were taken, they seemed to know the man holding them, but why him? Peter was of no interest to them. Unless they knew he was related to Magneto and planned to use him as a bargaining chip, but it seemed unlikely.
Then, they were freed and, on their way to confront En Sabah Nur, or as Hank had described him, the blue god. He had told Raven about his relationship with Erik, and she promised him that she would make sure she would tell him.
‘There is no escape. Don't make me destroy you.’
The cold, cold eyes of Magneto were staring at him with something that seemed almost like interest. “And you?”
‘I am your father.’
It was right there, a perfect opportunity served on a silver platter. An opportunity to make Erik realize he wasn’t alone, that he had more family. Perhaps he’d turn back to the light side if he knew. “I’m your-“
But it was Wendy who was the brave one, she was the chosen one. She never would have hesitated. And he wasn’t his sister. “I’m here for my family too.”
It was all sad and tragic because his life was just like that. He could feel Raven’s eyes on him, she couldn’t understand why he hadn’t told him, but she couldn’t know about Wendy. It was his own painful secret.
With how similar his life was to Luke’s he wasn’t sure why he was even surprised when he got his hand cut off leg broken. Then, there he was, trying to hold on to consciousness as shock settled into his body.
‘Hear me! Leia!’
Oh, how he wished Wendy were here. She would have destroyed them. Peter would have done anything for his twin to answer, like Leia did with Luke. But she was dead, there was no one to answer him. Just the cobwebs of their broken connection and the burning pain of his leg. He didn’t really care what happened next, he was all too focused on getting his message to his long-lost sister. He didn’t really believe in a higher power, of some all-powerful entity that somehow watched over everyone. He did, however, believe in Wendy, his strong, beautiful, powerful sister.
‘I would have preferred her too’
The blue God’s voice resonated in his head, catching him off guard. No one had ever reached in his mind like that, Wendy only could because of their connection.
‘If you will not turn to the dark side, then perhaps she will.’
Would his father have tried recruiting Wendy for his brotherhood? Yeah, definitely. She would have been the true last hope. A daughter to be proud about. One with abilities beyond anything anyone had ever seen. One that truly would have saved everyone, hell, she would have prevented the mansion from exploding and never would have been captured in the first place. The blue god looked at him with disdain in his eyes and Peter knew it didn’t mean anything good. He tried to crawl away, but in his current position, that did absolutely nothing.
‘It is pointless to resist, my son.’
En Sabah Nur grabbed him by the hair and tugged, holding him painfully upright and vulnerable. He’d always hated staying still, he was always too full of energy, always eager to chase after the next distraction.
Peter looked up at his father, trying to see if he would do anything, but he saw nothing but indifference. Magneto didn’t care about him. He was an insignificant mutant, a face amongst a thousand others. Soon to be counted amongst the hundred of corpses that Erik had seen in his life.
‘Now, young Skywalker...you will die.’
The god pulled his head back sharply, exposing his throat. “End him.”
One of his horsemen was approaching him with a sharp sword. Peter was slightly thankful that it wasn’t his dad that was chosen to be his executioner. His powers had kicked in, trying to give him an opportunity to escape. But it only made his imminent doom even worse.
Then, he didn’t die, and the hope of seeing his twin again was brushed aside for another near-death situation. As it turned out, Raven was a great person when the son of her friend was in danger.
En Sabah Nur let him go too quickly to focus on the blue mutant. He gasped and writhed as he fell to the ground as electricity pain coursed through his body. The blue god didn’t care about him, he continued calling for Charles, calling for his true target.
‘Father! Help me!’
He should cry out like Luke did, there was no way Magneto would act if he didn’t. Then again, he didn’t have a clue who he was. It was doubtful he remembered him from the Pentagon, it had been nearly 10 years and Erik had had a whole other family since. He was just the nameless idiot that got a big head and tried to take on a god and got defeated like a loser.
In the end, they were all fine, just a little shaken. Erik gave him a weird look, either he pitied him, or he was wondering what he had wanted to tell him. But Peter was on the verge of passing out, there was no way he could hold a conversation at the moment. They came back to the mansion and Peter decided to stay, maybe getting out of his isolation wouldn’t be so bad.
So, even if his life was similar to Star Wars, in its turns and tragedy, it wasn’t even close to how the trilogy ended. The scruffy Han never came back, Obi-wan wasn’t next to a redeemed Anakin (he just left all together) and Leia wasn’t at his side anymore. A happy ending wasn’t something that happened in real life. Everything he wanted resolved wasn’t wrapped neatly into a bow. He still had his loads of daddy issues caused by a father who didn’t know was a father and Wendy, his amazing long gone twin still wasn’t at his side. Peter figured that some good would eventually come to him, it couldn’t be all bad, right?
‘This is our most desperate hour.’
He had faith in that, so, when he was woken up by a burning sensation in his chest, he did his best to understand. The pain was so familiar, it was grief. But not his grief, no, this came from the connection he shared with his twin.
“Wanda?” he called out. Using her real name because she was calling to him. Because she needed him. Because she was somewhere all alone.
“I had a brother, his name was… Pietro.”
It was painful for her to talk about him, so he made sure to let her know through their bond that he was there for her, she just had to reach out. Wanda was confused to feel him, but her scarlet magic soon opened a portal. It might be a trap, there was no way to be certain, but Peter trusted his sister. He took and deep breath and ran into the portal without hesitation. She was alone and she was suffering, it was his job as her twin to help her.
‘Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.’

Welcome to Comic Cover Friday where we take a look at comic covers featuring Jean Grey and examine some of the details and plot points from within the book to learn more about Jean Grey!
If you have any suggestions for Jean Grey Comic Covers that I should feature and examine please feel free to message me and I will gladly look into them!
This Week the cover I have chosen to highlight is: X-Men Forever 1 Issue # 3
Cover/ Book Title: All of God's Creatures
Cover Artists: Drawn by Kevin Maguire
The Cover: Jean only worse this outfit for a brief time, but she did so because she finally accepted herself as not only Jean Grey but as the Phoenix as well. The costume seems like a great mix between her 90s uniform and her Phoenix uniform and I love the coloring of it. Jean gets the shine all on her own on the cover, and the story within gets to follow Jean and her struggle/ acceptance of the Phoenix as well.
The Comic Book: (Timejump 4) Phoenix II has just died on the moon. The comic entity called the Phoenix Force had created a body for itself based on Jean’s genetic structure, but it was the residual spirit of Jean Grey that willed the entity to end ist existance. Now timetraveling to important events in history, the real Jean Grey’s mind has been transported into Phoenix II. She finds herself with the cosmic construction worker. He says she’s one of the few people he’s done this twice for, except both times are the same time. The construction worker is Death, and she is in the afterlife. Death tells her that she chose the Phoenix Force as much as she chose it. She asks him why it chose her, and he says that’s the interesting part. Elsewhere, Mystique is gathering the new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to assassinate Senator Kelly. Toad is happy running an amusement park, Juggernaut is at Cassidy Keep with Black Tom Cassidy and Theresa Rourke, while Iceman is attending Jean Grey’s funeral. Back in the afterlife, Death tells Jean that she hungered for the Phoenix Force. When she saw its incredible power, she yearned for growth. Death shows Phoenix the Universal Forces and tells her they are scared of her more than anything else. Death tells her that because she is human, mutant, and the unlimited potential of mankind meets the unquenchable desire to grow, she represents a legitimate challenge to the fabric of reality. Then the harnesses activate again.
(Timejump 5) Toad is in Rikers Island Prison after impersonating The Stranger and being defeated by the Avengers. Iceman is at his first day at UCLA, a few days before he and Angel form the Champions. Mystique as disguised as the FBI’s Director Duncan, and she is congratulating Senator Kelly on his election. Juggernaut is again at Cassidy Keep, just before the new X-Men came to battle him and Black Tom. Phoenix is piloting the shuttle back down to Earth; her telekinetic shield has given way and she is suffering from radiation. Prosh comes and says he is sorry for making her experience the pain, but he needed to remind her of the consequences and give her the option to change her decision, which would create a new timeline. She says it’s a difficult choice, not accepting the Phoenix Force’s offer will mean that the universe will be destroyed as she can’t repair the M’kraan Crystal. Jean is unable make a choice, and Prosh says that he does not intend to make her decide, he only wanted her to think of the options. Then he sends them back in time again.
(Timejump 6) Phoenix is woken up telepathically by Professor Xavier, who tells her she is late for her morning class. She goes to the Danger Room and finds the original X-Men training, Iceman among them and welcoming her. They had just fought the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants again, who were trying to recruit the Stranger, and then they barely survived against Juggernaut. Juggernaut is currently in prison. Mystique, who is trying to clean blood off of her, is comforted by Destiny. Toad is being held captive for examination by the Stranger, along with Magneto. Back at the mansion, Xavier says he expects a better performance once they have fully recovered. Phoenix observes Xavier working on his computer, and then goes into his office once he leaves. She discovers that already back then, Xavier knew that she and Iceman had much more potential. Especially Iceman is far from even grasping his full abilities and in time they both might reach unlimited power levels. Iceman comes in and says that so far this timetravels have been easy for him, and the group is transported back in time again.
(Timejump 7) Mystique is beaten up by a group of Hydra agents. Phoenix is a freshman in high school. Iceman always seems to have a cold. Juggernaut is still working his way out of the rubble in Korea. Toad is being recruited by Magneto for the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. (Synopsis courtesy of Uncanny X-Men.net)

So this is my pitch for Toad:
Age: 46
National Origin:
I’m making him from a mixed, mostly White-passing family in that lives in a mobile home park in Florida.
Appearance:
He has a short, thick build-- huge thighs and neck and bulky shoulders. Broad face and broader mouth. A hunch. Long arms. Big brown eyes. He’s been like that since childhood. As he ages his skin takes on a more leathery, brown-green cast.
History:
In school Toad was considered disabled for his hunchback and delayed development-- partly a speech impediment resulting from a large tongue and partly the result of extreme social anxiety. His “hardworking family” clearly considered him a burden, especially as in High School his yearning for company caused him to do a lot of the dirty work for other delinquents, who used him because they liked to feel superior over him. He didn’t speak at all then to hide his growing tongue.
Thus Toad lived out the life others had foreseen for him. He failed at various jobs, was rejected in most relationships, and generally just puttered along. He developed a pretty serious interest in DIY projects he couldn’t afford around his apartment. He was lonely, and started petty drug sales purely for company and cash.
As a result of these activities, Toad was arrested. In jail, he was finally outed for his increasingly severe mutation. After experiences he won’t talk about, he was conscripted by the U.S. government for a mutant soldier research program. Saved by Mystique.
Joins the Brotherhood.
When Magneto leaves he does a stint with all sorts of groups and then eventually remakes the Brotherhood as a petty crime gang just to survive, watch each other’s backs on each other’s own terms, and rake in some cash.
Characterization:
My plan is to have Toad play a role both as Quicksilver’s street-savvy, indulgent, fun elder friend and as the pragmatic counterbalance to Magneto and Charles’s epic conflict of ideals. He’s a very intelligent man with a few serious foibles-- his morals are weak in the face of pressure, he easily makes excuses for himself, and he is ridiculously easy to satisfy with material things or friendship.
Eventually, although his cowardice and parochial tendencies infuriate Magneto, Magneto comes to rely on Toad for two reasons. First, because Toad can relate to their selfishness and insecurities, he is insanely in touch with the members of the Brotherhood. After the Brotherhood fails due to Magneto’s inability to control its members or their mission creep the first time, Magneto will rely on Toad as much as Mystique and Destiny to guide him in reforming the Brotherhood a second time. Second, Toad is extremely clever if he’s given the time to plan, and when they rely on the criminal underworld to recruit and supply their terrorist organization that’s crucial for expansion.
Toad’s primary positive trait is his loyalty. He bonds with Magneto because Magneto doesn’t condescend to him like he feels that Charles Xavier or, say, the members of the Hellfire Club do. The Brotherhood is rough and even cruel to him, but in the end he’s an equal among them, not someone to be pitied or used. He appreciates that. And he loves Quicksilver like the son or nephew he never had.
That’s it, that’s the pitch.

AngelEdit
Warren Worthington was born in Centerport, New York, to Kathryn Worthington and Warren Worthington Jr. He attends Phillips Exeter Academy in his adolescence when his feathered wings begin to grow from his shoulder blades. At first, Warren feels he is a freak and aberration, but he soon learns that he can use his wings to fly and help people. When there is a fire in his dormitory, he borrows some props from the school's drama department, dresses up as a heavenly angel, and rescues his friends. He soon learns that he is in fact a mutant. He dons a mask and costume, calls himself the Avenging Angel, and becomes a solo adventurer, before being recruited by Professor Charles Xavier for the X-Men.[8]
Warren's status as a wealthy playboy, as well as being an outspoken individual who chafes at the notion of being told what to do, is the subject of much tension within the X-Men. In particular, Warren is in love with Jean Grey, who is in love with Scott Summers, although he ultimately concedes Jean to Scott.[9] Angel still harbors an unrequited love for Jean even as he finds himself a girlfriend of his own, Candy Southern.[10]
While pursuing Sauron in the Savage Land, Angel is attacked by pteranodons and falls to his death. He would have remained dead if not for the "Creator", who is Magneto without his costume. Magneto provides the necessary medical treatment needed to revive Angel, and provides him with a new blue-and-white costume.[11] Unknown to Angel, the costume also has a device installed that lets Magneto gain control over Angel, which he does months later when he makes an attack on the X-Men.[12]
Around this time, Angel publicly reveals himself as a mutant after discovering that not only has his uncle, Burt Worthington (who goes by the name of the Dazzler — though he is in no way related to Alison Blaire, a later mutant heroine and brief love interest for Warren in her own comic series who also uses the name), murdered Warren's father, Warren Worthington, Jr.,[13] but also poisoned his mother in order to ensure his inheritance of the Worthington fortune.[14]
When the original X-Men are captured by the mutant island Krakoa, Professor X creates a new team of X-Men to rescue them.[15] When this new team decides to stay on as X-Men, Angel and the rest of the original team, with the exception of Cyclops, leave.[16] He and Iceman go to Los Angeles, where they found the Champions with Hercules, the Black Widow, and the original Ghost Rider.[17] Following the apparent death of Jean Grey and Cyclops' subsequent exile from the team, Warren rejoins the X-Men.[18] During this time, Angel unsuccessfully pursues pop star Alison Blaire, also known as Dazzler.[volume & issue needed] He grows increasingly disturbed by the behavior and actions of Wolverine,[19] and quits the team in protest.[20]
He is kidnapped by the Morlock leader Callisto, who intends to force Angel to be her lover. Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Sprite arrive in time to stop Callisto from cutting off Angel's wings (believing that without them, Angel will be unable to flee from her). Storm fights and defeats Callisto for the right to be the leader of the Morlocks, effectively freeing Angel in the process.[21]
Shortly thereafter, Angel joins the Defenders, along with Beast, Iceman and girlfriend Candy Southern.[22] Using Angel's Colorado house as their base, the group has several adventures before most of the group are killed freeing teammate Moondragon from demonic possession.[23]
Angel considers retirement following the collapse of the Defenders, but the discovery of Jean Grey alive changes his mind. Jean Grey is furious at the increase in anti-mutant hysteria in the two years she has been missing, and opposes the X-Men's decision to align themselves with the villain Magneto. To appease Jean's desire for action, Warren organizes X-Factor.[24] He recruits his old prep school friend Cameron Hodge to run the team, unaware that Cameron hates mutants, particularly Warren.[volume & issue needed] Since Cyclops is married to Madelyne Pryor at the time and reacts coldly to Jean's return, Angel takes advantage of Jean's need for emotional support and expresses his love for her.[volume & issue needed] This destroys Warren's relationship with Candy Southern, after Candy finds Warren consoling Jean.[25]
ArchangelEdit
X-Factor's formation begins a period of upheaval in Warren's life. Cameron Hodge abuses Warren's trust and portrays X-Factor as "mutant hunters" for hire, further fueling anti-mutant sentiment.[volume & issue needed] An altercation with the Brotherhood of Mutants allows Mystique to discover the relationship between the "mutant hunters" and the former X-Men; she exposes Warren as the financial backer for X-Factor, causing a public relations nightmare.[volume & issue needed] Warren's wings are mutilated during the Mutant Massacre by the Marauder, Harpoon.[26] When the wings develop gangrene, Cameron Hodge violates Angel's wishes and has the crippled wings amputated.[27] Despondent over the loss, Warren escapes the hospital and commandeers his private jet. It explodes in the air as the rest of X-Factor watch helplessly from below.[28] It is ultimately revealed that Hodge sabotaged Warren's plane in order to finish off his nemesis, in an apparent suicide.[volume & issue needed]
Seconds before the explosion, Warren is spirited away by the ancient mutant Apocalypse. Apocalypse offers to restore Angel's wings if Angel will serve him as one of his Four Horsemen.[29] Apocalypse subjects Angel to extensive genetic alterations, giving him blue skin and organic metal wings which can cut through almost anything. The wings can fire the metal feathers as projectiles. Apocalypse gives Worthington the title of Death. He makes Worthington the leader of his Horsemen after Worthington beats the others in a fight, and gives him a drug that remove his reservations to follow Apocalypse's dark plans.[30] Death is unveiled to X-Factor during their second encounter with the Horsemen,[31] and Warren sadistically exploits the weaknesses of his friends to defeat them in combat.[32] During a later attack on Manhattan, Iceman fakes his own death at Warren's hands, hoping that the shock of killing a friend will enable him to break free of the influence of Apocalypse's drug. Although freed, Warren refuses to rejoin X-Factor, feeling that he has changed too much psychologically to be a hero.[33]
He seeks out Candy Southern, but finds that she is missing.[volume & issue needed] Warren learns that Candy has been lobotomized to protect Cameron Hodge's secrets, including the establishment of the anti-mutant militia "The Right" using funds embezzled from Worthington.[volume & issue needed] In the confrontation that follows, Hodge murders Candy in front of Warren and Warren decapitates Hodge.[34] Changing his codename from "Death" to "Dark Angel", he later rejoins X-Factor and takes the codename "Archangel" during the events of Inferno.[35]
Warren later meets and becomes romantically involved with Charlotte Jones, a New York City Police officer and single mother.[volume & issue needed] It is with Charlotte's help that X-Factor frees Warren from the Ravens, a cult of near-immortal psychic vampires.[36] It is during this battle that Warren's survival is made public knowledge, allowing him to regain control over his family's remaining business holdings and his personal fortune.[volume & issue needed] X-Factor rejoins the X-Men following the defeat of the Shadow King on Muir Island.[volume & issue needed]
Angel againEdit
After rejoining the X-Men, Archangel's brooding behavior lessens, after Jean reveals to Warren that his wings (which Warren believes have a mind of their own) have actually been operating off Warren's own unconscious desires for violence.[37] This, combined with Warren's accidental decapitation of Mutant Liberation Front member Kamikaze,[38] leads Warren to try to reject the dark cloud that has hung over his head ever since gaining his new wings. His relationship with Charlotte Jones fades as Warren begins dating fellow X-Men member Psylocke.[39] In an attempt to put his dark days behind him, Warren retires his "Death" uniform in favor of the blue/white costume Magneto made for him.[volume & issue needed]
After Psylocke is eviscerated by X-Men prisoner Sabretooth during an escape attempt, Warren and the X-Men track him down and capture him, but not before he is able to badly damage Warren's metal wings.[40] Over time, the damage to his wings spreads. Eventually, the metal wings shatter completely, revealing that his feathered wings have been growing back within them and have broken them apart from the inside.[41] This follows a visit from Ozymandias, who tells him that he is indeed one of Apocalypse's chosen ones.[volume & issue needed] Reclaiming his original Angel powers, Warren still retains his blue skin color.[volume & issue needed]
Angel is one of several X-Men who are present when Gambit's culpability in the events of the "Mutant Massacre" is made public by Magneto, which turns him against his teammate.[42] Shortly afterwards, with the X-Men broke and their mansion stripped bare by the US Government, Angel volunteers money to help keep the team going, though this requires his reclaiming full control over his family company to do so.[volume & issue needed] Tracking some of his company's finances at this time, Warren discovers the former villains the Thunderbolts retrieving a jet that was used by the Champions, but although initially suspicious of the Thunderbolts' motives, after joining them in a confrontation with Graviton, Warren accepts their genuine desire to reform, leaving them with the jet as he wishes them luck.[43] Angel returns to the X-Men following the events of The Twelve, in which his wings (temporarily) further mutate into wings made of light and he gains talon-like hands and healing powers, which Warren uses to restore the mobility of crippled Horseman of Apocalypse War.[volume & issue needed] Returning to the X-Men, Warren finds his relationship with Psylocke gone, as she has begun dating new X-Men recruit Thunderbird III.[volume & issue needed]
When Rogue leaves the X-Men to join Storm's splinter group (X-Treme X-Men), Angel is promoted to head of the X-Men's field team.[volume & issue needed] Angel's squad fights the anti-mutant group Church of Humanity[volume & issue needed] and Mystique and her newest incarnation of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants,[volume & issue needed] and tangles with the Vanisher, who has gone into business with several medical companies to create a designer drug that could give humans mutant-like powers.[volume & issue needed] Angel also becomes entangled in a love triangle with rookie X-Men member Paige Guthrie and the mutant prostitute Stacy X.[volume & issue needed] Furthermore, during a battle with Black Tom Cassidy, Angel's regression to his pre-"Death" state is complete when he reverts to his normal Caucasian skin color when Cassidy (now turned into a plant-type vampire) attempts to drain Angel's life force from him.[44] His healing powers from The Twelve also manifest themselves again, in the form of the revelation that Angel's blood has miracle healing properties.[volume & issue needed][45]
DecimationEdit
Following the death of Jean Grey, Warren and Paige take an extended leave of absence from the team.[volume & issue needed] Warren begins doing overseas charity work at this point, in the form of a charity called "Mutants Sans Frontières" in Zanzibar (a reference to Doctors Without Borders), where he then proceeds to help stop a coup with the aid of Professor X's newest charges from nearby Genosha.[46] In Excalibur, Warren meets up again with Callisto. As Paige reminds Warren of his history with Callisto, Viper attacks, but Warren and Callisto defeat Viper together.[47]
In Generation M, Angel fakes having lost his wings in order to capture the Ghoul, a deranged serial killer who uses his retained mutant powers to murder ex-mutants.[48]
Though not an active member of any team, Warren reunites with the other surviving original X-Men — Cyclops, Iceman, and Beast — in a mission to stop Bishop from recapturing the fugitive mutants known as the 198,[volume & issue needed] though Bishop later joins them in their rescue attempt.[49]
World War HulkEdit
Angel joins with fellow former Champions member Hercules, Namora, and Amadeus Cho in order to calm down the rampaging Hulk.[50] Afterward, Angel discovers that Amadeus Cho has hacked into Warren's bank accounts and stolen several million dollars from him, to help him further aid the Hulk.[volume & issue needed]
Messiah ComplexEdit
Angel is part of the team that investigates the new mutant birth in Alaska.[51] He is later part of the team who is looking for former Acolytes.[52] He is next seen part of the same team, but attacking the Marauders.[53] Warren goes against Mister Sinister, but is easily defeated once Sinister recovers from Emma Frost's mental attack.[54] Angel is knocked out, but recovers and is present with the X-teams for the final battle over the fate of the baby.[55]
Divided We StandEdit
Angel is later seen flying over San Francisco, going to meet with Hepzibah, Warpath, and Iceman, when he stumbles across an area that looks as if the 1960s never ended. He contacts Scott and Emma, asking them for assistance before suffering the mind-altering effects of the zone, which are revealed to be caused by Martinique Jason.[56] Angel and the three other ensnared X-Men are sent by Martinique to confront Scott and Emma.[57] Emma manages to free them from the illusion and, during the fall-out battle, Angel rescues Mayor Sadie Sinclair. Thankful for the assistance and for the idea of having real superheroes in their city, Mayor Sinclair then talks to Cyclops and Angel about helping them resettle the X-Men in San Francisco.[58]
Archangel returnsEdit
In X-Force (vol. 3) #4, Warren is brutally attacked by a mind-controlled Wolfsbane. During the attack, Wolfsbane savagely rips Warren's feather wings from his back and runs away, taking the wings with her.[59] It is revealed by Elixir that Warren's wings, despite appearing fully organic, are actually still techno-organic constructs that he is unable to regenerate[volume & issue needed]. Wolfsbane later delivers them to the Purifiers, who are seeking the Apocalypse Strain, the techno-organics which comprise Warren's wings. The Purifiers use the Apocalypse Strain to modify an army of Purifier agents, giving them the same metallic wings that Archangel once had.[volume & issue needed] Meanwhile, although Elixir is able to heal all of Warren's injuries, he cannot regrow his wings due to interference from the Apocalypse Strain. Later in the story, Warren is gripped by a series of excruciating seizures that not only mysteriously regenerate his techno-organic wings, but also transform him back into Apocalypse's version of Death/Archangel, complete with blue skin and a techno-organic version of his uniform.[60]
X-Force attacks Archangel, who eventually asks for relief from the pain of losing his wings and transforming into Archangel.[61] Archangel escapes, to take revenge on the Purifiers, and at their headquarters he slaughters most of them in a blood-maddened rage. Once the battle is over, he reverts to his normal Caucasian, feather-winged appearance. He comments to Wolverine that he can still feel the metal wings inside him, and that they want to come out again. According to Elixir, Warren's transformation is permanent, implying that he is fully capable of transforming back into Archangel again at any time.[62]
In an attempt to understand what was done to both Wolfsbane and Angel, the pair of them are placed in a room together, where Rahne is forced to gaze at Warren. The mere sight of him causes her to become murderous once again, and she attempts to rip the wings from Warren's body once more. The sight of a psychotic Wolfsbane, as well as the fear of having his wings torn from his body again, causes a defensive reaction in Warren, reverting him back into his violent Archangel persona.[volume & issue needed]
From then on, Angel takes dual membership with both the X-Men and X-Force, though Cyclops forbids Angel from telling the rest of the team about the return of his Archangel powers.[volume & issue needed] While recruiting a scientist for Beast's "Science Squad", the X-Club, Angel is forced to transform into Archangel in order to destroy a giant rampaging monster. Beast reacts in anger that Angel has not told him that his "Death" powers have returned, creating tension between the two friends. Angel knows telling Beast would expose the latest incarnation of X-Force and effectively end Cyclops' latest tenure as leader if the truth about his personal black ops squad became public knowledge.[volume & issue needed]
During the X-Club's trip to 1906 in order to discover the origins of the modern mutant race, Angel transforms into Archangel a number of times to help further their mission.[volume & issue needed]
During the Fear Itself storyline, Wolverine and Archangel interrogate Purifiers member Benedict Ryan on where Jonathan Standish is hiding out.[63]
Dark Angel SagaEdit
In the "Dark Angel Saga", the "Archangel" persona of Warren, which was secretly created when he was first transformed by Apocalypse into his Horseman of Death, has finally taken over his mind, and he plans to be the heir to Apocalypse, bringing Ozymandias, Dark Beast, the Final Horsemen, Autumn Rolfson, and her son Genocide as his army to destroy humanity.[64] At the conclusion of the story arc Betsy stabs Archangel in the chest with the Celestial Life Seed, seemingly killing him. In the aftermath of the explosion of Apocalypse's citadel, Warren is seen by the members of X-Force walking in the snow. Psylocke, shocked that he is alive and apparently free of Apocalypse, runs up and embraces him. This Warren then reveals he had no idea who Psylocke is and appears to have amnesia. Warren has his normal white skin again but seems to have retained his metallic wings.[65]
Death and new personalityEdit
Following the Dark Angel Saga, it is revealed that Warren had indeed died and his soul departed for the afterlife, with his Celestial-mutated body now hosting an all-new personality with its own soul. He lost leadership of Worthington Industries and became a student in Wolverine's new school for mutants.[2] Although the new entity, who has chosen to retain the same name of Warren Worthington III and the code name of "Angel" is making efforts to be integrated, it is clear that he has no memory at all of the original Warren Worthington's friends and acquaintances, as his discussions with Iceman demonstrate and how he turned away former lover Psylocke.[2]
When Wolverine's legs were damaged Warren tried to fix them with a "miracle". When he failed he wanted to try it again but Wolverine wouldn't allow him, so he and a few other students went to the casino on Planet Sin. There they took the device that damaged their headmaster's legs so it could be used to heal him. While doing so he forged a friendship with Evan, a clone of Apocalypse.[volume & issue needed]
Warren tried to prove that he truly was a real angel by flying to heaven but he failed and accepted the fact that he was mutant. While falling he was saved by Evan and revealed that he could see the essence of people when he looked at them. Evan asked him what he saw when he looked at him and despite seeing only the image of Apocalypse, Warren told him that he could see nothing but goodness in him.[66]
Warren left the school with Bobby and Rachel to help his fellow mutants in the battle against the Avengers.[volume & issue needed] After the battle, he returned to join the stand against Cyclops, and has since regained all of his memories.[volume & issue needed]
Warren's childrenEdit
In an apocalyptic possible future, an aging Frank Castle warns the present-day Deadpool of the "son of Archangel".[67] During Uncanny Avengers (2013), it is revealed that while preparing to ascend as Apocalypse during the "Dark Angel Saga", Warren fathered two children with Pestilence of the Final Horsemen, who appear as the time-traveling "Apocalypse Twins".[68]
All-New, All-Different MarvelEdit
As part of the All-New, All-Different Marvel event, Angel has mysteriously reverted somehow to his pre-LifeSeed blue-skinned Archangel form, and appears as a member of Magneto's new Uncanny X-Men in order to protect mutantkind at all costs. His mind had also changed, having become nothing more than a silent and mindless predator controlled by Psylocke. Under her psychic leash, Archangel became a heavy hitter in Magneto's X-Men.[69]
Apocalypse WarsEdit
Psylocke and Magneto travel to Green Ridge, Colorado to investigate reports of an up-and-coming preacher who looks identical to the original Angel. They discover that he is indeed the Angel who was created by the Celestial LifeSeed and he is attracting a cult of religious fanatics around him.[70] It is revealed that during the 8-month timeskip after the events of Secret Wars, Angel allied himself with Apocalypse's son, Genocide and the Clan Akkaba in exchange for their help in controlling his Horseman of Death split-personality, which has revived as it is permanently linked to his own metal wings. Clan Akkaba are constantly harvesting Angel's rapidly-regenerating metal wings (in order to prevent the Death persona from fully possessing Angel) and grafting them into his clones, creating a mindless clone army of blue-skinned Archangels. The silent Archangel who is a member of Magneto's team of X-Men was merely the first such clone who retained trace memories of the original Angel and thus managed to escape to join Magneto's X-Men. Magneto and Psylocke are captured, but Psylocke easily escapes. She gets into a fight with Fantomex, who was sent by Magneto as back-up with Mystique, who herself freed Magneto.[71] Psylocke in a panic calls for the Archangel who is their teammate, who then telepathically controls the rest of the clone army into destroying the town, but the clones are all killed.[72] In a flashback, it is revealed that Magneto accidentally found Angel's unconscious and injured body in a barn during the 8-month timeskip and helped him recover. Magneto at the time gave up on being a hero, as the rest of the X-Men had either disbanded or fled to Limbo, but then was inspired by Angel to restart his own version of the Uncanny X-Men.[73] It is implied that Angel disappeared after that encounter, only to "reappear" as the silent Archangel. In the present, a chastised and repentant Angel explains to Magneto and Psylocke that he and the silent Archangel are ultimately two half-parts of the same one being, so they physically combine into a new blue-skinned persona. This new Archangel being is unsure of who or what he now was, but was determined to find out. He swore off all violence and returned with Magneto's X-Men to their base in the Savage Land.[74]
Time-displaced Warren Worthington IIIEdit
All-New X-MenEdit
Main article: All-New X-Men
When Beast decides to travel back in time to recruit the original X-Men to stop Scott committing mutant genocide,[75] Angel accompanies his teammates into the future, but initially prefers to return to the past rather than remain in such a twisted present. Even after his teammates vote to remain until they have saved the future, Angel expresses curiosity about what has happened to his own future self, as no reference has been made to his present condition.[76] The next day, the rebirthed Angel finds the younger Angel who asks him why he has metallic wings; the older Angel ignores the question and invites his younger self to go flying.[77] While flying above the skies of New York, the two Angels become caught up in H.Y.D.R.A.'s attack on Avengers Tower. Together, the two heroes are able to defeat the terrorists and capture Madame Hydra.[78]
Joining Cyclops and gaining cosmic wingsEdit
Frustrated after seeing what will happen to himself in the future, the younger Angel defects from the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning and joins the older Cyclops' new team of outlaw X-Men.[79] After the 2013 "Battle of the Atom" storyline, the rest of the displaced X-Men also join Cyclops' team, except for young Cyclops, who joins his father Corsair and the Starjammers.[80] Warren then starts a romantic relationship with X-23.[volume & issue needed] Later, the All-New X-Men accidentally travel to the Ultimate Universe, where Angel and X-23 encounter that universe's version of Wolverine's son, Jimmy Hudson and the X-Men.[81] During the events of the 2015 storyline "The Black Vortex", young Warren is imbued with cosmic powers and gains magic wings of light.[82] When asked by X-23 why he risked his life to gain new powers, he said he hoped that changing himself will alter his future and prevent him from being transformed into Archangel.[83]
RessurXionEdit
After the X-Men go to war against the Inhumans over the fate of the Terrigen, Angel joins the rest of the time-displaced X-Men in hopes of finally returning them to their own timeline. However they discover that they aren't from Earth 616's timeline and with no way of figuring out which timeline they're from, they become stranded on Earth 616.[84] With this knowledge in mind, Angel and the rest of the time-displaced X-Men leave the main team of X-Men to find their place in the world.[85] Angel joins the rest of the time-displaced X-Men alongside Magneto.[86]
After a series of adventures - which included the discovery that they actually were from the true past and the X-Men they had witnessed were actually the disguised Brotherhood of Mutants attempting to change history -[87] the X-Men are forced to return to the past when they are attacked by Ahab, a mutant-hunter from the future, and a younger version of Cable who feels that his future self has lost his way. Part of young-Cable's efforts include surgically removing Warren's new cosmic wings and replacing them with the wings Mimic copied from Warren in the past.[88] The team eventually return to the past, with Jean planting a psychic block on their memories so that they will forget about their experiences in the future until they catch up with the moment they departed.[89]

like continuing off of that post… xavier's a multibillionaire, right? this is canon. and he runs the institute as a charity, presumably like a 501(c)(3) non-profit, in all likelihood, which helps him avoid taxes & stuff; and has his own in-house top researchers (and v. likely materials acquisition ppl, or at least proxy companies) to do things like build stealth jets, buy stealth jet fuel, etc.
snipped bc I wrote an essay about it with my goddamn thumbs, ho ho ho, merry christmas
like when I googled, apparently in "new x-men" #129 a char. called fantomex cites the xavier institute's worth at being about $3.5bn, which means xavier has to have MUCH more than that at bare minimum in the semi-annual repairs & rebuilding of that goddamn building— not including the jet, security measures, food & utilities, maintenance costs at an institution that doesn't take donations or charge tuition for at least a decade (even if you don't want to go with a canon of irl-accurate in-verse-improbable school longevity). like when you consider that… yeah, tony stark's a multibillionaire— but he makes & sells a tangible product and var. technologies— forbes thinking tony stark's net worth is ~$12.5bn in comparison while xavier has no known income at all is nothing to sneeze at.
so it beggars the question as to how he can be considered philan-fucking-thropic when magneto, the auschwitz survivor whose apparent assets comes up to like $500mil total in gold he stole from nazis he personally murdered (hard- and well-earned money, if true!), is not only more up-front than xavier about making a team that is a personal army… he doesn't demand respectability & obedience in the face of human oppression… AND he runs (ran? idk which genosha we're on rn, it keeps getting attacked/destroyed) a whole island meant as a safe haven for any and all mutants, regardless of what they look like— and entirely separate from his vigilante/activist work with the brotherhood— free of goddamn charge.
or, yk, it's also really interesting when you also remember how charles xavier has never thrown the morlocks a dime, and they all, adults & children alike, are mutants who live in the fucking sewers in nyc because they are too "ugly," too "dangerous," can't, or don't want to survive aboveground with humans. some were abandoned. some were on the run. some are fucking preschoolers. there's been multiple canon occasions in the comics and cartoons showing how the morlocks starve or go without medicine unless they steal it… because there's no jobs for them, or when there are, no businesses that want to take their money and allow them to buy a goddamn loaf of bread. there but for the grace of god go several of charles's x-men themselves, and they all know it… but still, not a red cent to show for it from the pockets of professor x.
there is literally a christmas special episode of x-men: tas— it came out in 1995— where it falls to storm & jubilee (the only woc on the team, one of whom is a child) to advocate for one dying morlock child who was turned away from the hospital… against wolverine's vocal protests, natch… while the professor is oh-so-happy to have helped (by providing what… transportation? wow™️) well after the fact, without addressing either the direct issues at hand: why didn't you address the suffering of this morlock child before now, when you could pinpoint a single mutant & then fly to africa to recruit storm all those years ago? why don't you pay for the damages caused by these morlocks searching for medicine? why don't you just buy them some fucking medicine & beds & winter coats?— or the systemic ones.
he claims to be a paragon of virtue & a good example for mutantkind, but it makes you wonder why dr. cecilia reyes*, a human passing darkskinned dreadlocked nuyorican mutant from the bronx with psionic plasma powers and an MD, quit the x-men to run an underground mutant clinic out of her apartment instead, bc that was doing more good in her eyes— helping all the kids who slipped through the cracks while xavier had the means to find them & help them, even if not to give them new homes, but chose not to— than continuing on as a member of his shiny super heroic team of Good Mutie posterboys. it makes you wonder how fucked up it is that she's right.
* (cecilia reyes is about to be portrayed in the new x-men asylum au movie as what looks like an evil psychiatrist by alice braga, so… that's special. thanks for that, 20th century fox… lol but I digress.)
when it is within the power of charles xavier to "lead by example" less with posturing & waging mutant vs. mutant battles and more with mutant welfare & rights, you gotta wonder why the fuck he's chosen the "You Thuggish Bad Mutants Hold the Movement Baaaack" hill for other folks to die on over public philanthropic works for the benefit of his fellow mutants & as, like, concrete examples to cite while arguing in court against mutant registration & discrimination laws, rather than, "but mr. president: I'm not like Those Mutants! I'm one of the Good Ones!"
and yeah, there's a good amount of fighting genocide robots in there, and a solid dash of saving the world, including humans. but there's also been like a dozen different future timelines the x-men have had to avert with time travel antics, where that uncle tom uncle remus fictionalized cheerful negro bullshit didn't work at all, even a little bit, and mutants were tattooed or branded or hauled off to death or labor camps or live as an underground resistance force against those things… and then they go right back to beefing with mystique. with callisto. with magneto. with emma frost.
maybe halfway because they're villains doing ~bad things… but halfway because you can tell we're supposed to think they're so much worse than fucking catwoman or the mandarin or the vulture for doing the same things (or, ofc, the REAL "I'm not racist!" racist's zinger: as bad as or worse than hydra, the red skull, and real life hitler)— because they were oppressed "the wrong way" (militant! angry! not cooperating with police!); and because they had to audacity to ~make life harder~ for xavier and his boy scouts, not ACTUALLY by making mutants "look bad," but by existing & getting in the way of xavier's illusion that if you kiss enough ass and ignore enough "undesirables" within your community, maybe the people crushing you underfoot will grow a sense of pity… and if they don't, it must be some bad mutant's fault.
because people would rather believe in the as-yet-unseen virtue and repentance of fascists and bigots who sieg heil and proudly proclaim they want you dead to be a real thing, attainable through patient suffering, even while those fascists aim the gun they made especially for killing "your kind" at your hearts & in your homes, than to ever believe that hurt & oppressed & marginalized people didn't, don't, and never will do anything to "deserve" or "earn" their oppression.
bolivar trask wants magneto dead the exact same way he wants kitty pryde & scott summers dead, and charles xavier investing billions into saying, "don't shoot! I'm on the neighborhood watch, too! we aren't all scary, mr. zimmermann! let me prove it to you!" vs. "just don't fucking shoot, I literally don't need to give you any more reasons than that or argue my worthiness of remaining alive, because you do not have the fucking right to shoot me nor are you entitled to my silent complacence on the matter" is some toothless, self-serving, clearly white-authored nonsense.
and I know xavier vs. magneto is meant to be this piss-poor civil rights allegory (and somehow a horribly mangled ahistorical one, at that, considering the x-men debuted in the '60s) positioning the two as analogues for mlk & malcolm x, respectively; of course, to the fictionalized version of dr. king's benefit, despite the pop cultural "schism" between those two men largely being manufactured by the same folks invested in keeping both men's mouths shut or bth men dead to begin with.
but if you gave martin luther king three and a half billion dollars before he was assassinated, even adjusting for inflation, I would bet all the money I have now that it would've been spent more on voter empowerment, school breakfasts, job placement services, and bail money for arrested activists & demonstrators than he would ever spend on a fucking mansion, private jet, or appeals to those who would silence the unheard while stepping over the less-visible oppressed ~beneath his notice & ignoring the "macedonian call for aid."
and so it's not just bad writing, but it also manages to insult the memory and legacy of civil rights work for black americans and other communities as well to position this character in this position of informed-virtue supremacy by borrowing the language & evoking the imagery of an assassinated radical activist to specifically tear down other oppressed peoples/their fictional analogues for not being pure enough and not being willing enough to lick the right boot heels while taking enough kicks to the face to "earn" the equality & respect their [dangerous/criminal/monstrous/violent] [behaviors/cultures/upbringing/looks] are holding them back from being graciously given by the people holding the knife.

X-Men Novelization Ch. 52
Chapter Fifty-Two
Magneto surveyed the seeds of his empire from the office of a broken down car factory. The wide windows overlooked the rusted remains of conveyor belts and mechanical arms, but it was the tents and cooking pots and friendships sprouting between the Brotherhood that drew his interest.
Not all of the new recruits made such explosive introductions as Avalanche, Pyro, and the newly dubbed Blob. The scared and the vulnerable found their way into Magneto’s arms looking to him for strength and security. He offered it openly, asking only for their dedication to the cause of mutant supremacy and their devotion to honing the weapons of their bodies in return.
That was not good enough for all of them, it would appear. In a far corner of the factory Magneto saw his daughter the Scarlet Witch arguing intently with one of their newest members, the one called Vanisher. He was an astonishingly powerful teleporter, but Magneto could guess at the source of the argument. Just a moment later he did not have to.
Vanisher disappeared in a flash of green light that instantaneously filled Magneto’s office. He saw it reflect off the window in front of him, and turned to face Vanisher himself. The man was well muscled and covered in a hodgepodge of faded and garish tattoos. His head was shaved, and it was clear from the cracking of his knuckles that he meant to intimidate the Master of Magnetism.
“I want my payment,” Vanisher said.
“Whatever for?”
Vanisher snorted and pointed out the window at a section of the factory floor where the new recruits were gaining instruction from a hairy beast of a man who claimed decades of military experience. “I pulled your asses out of the fire. My services aren’t free.”
“This isn’t the mob, dear boy, you don’t get a ‘cut.’ You were helping your fellow mutant and in return they will help you. This is the new order of the world, and any money you are expecting won’t be of any use for long.”
The man snorted again and Magneto restrained himself from killing him on the spot. “What a crock. I don’t need help from you or no one else and if I do help someone I expect a fat payday in return. Now you’re going to give it to me or--”
The man fell to his knees writhing, scratching at his chest and arms while gritting his teeth. “Your recompense is that I don’t kill you right now for trying to stand on the backs of your brothers. I assumed you learned something of brotherhood in prison, given your tattoos.” Magneto knelt down in front of the writhing man, a strand a spit stretching down from Vanisher’s lips. “At least, I assume these are prison tattoos, given the iron and graphite in their ink.”
“Piss off.”
Magneto tightened his magnetic grip and Vanisher dropped to the floor completely. He put a put on the man’s chest. “I’ll let you leave, but if you get in the way of my war I won’t hesitate to spread you to every place you’ve ever been all at once. Understood?”
There was another flash of green and Magneto’s boot landed on the ground where the Vanisher formerly was. He heard a commotion out in the hallway of his office and thew out his hand to open the door.
Toad, who insisting on standing guard outside Magneto’s door as if it granted him some level of authority on the others, proved an incapable barrier. A green man with long pointed ears stood with a foot in Toad’s back holding Toad’s tongue around his own neck, choking the maladapt with it. “Let him go,” Magneto commanded, and the green man smiled and let the boy fall to the floor. “Who are you?”
The green man smiled, striding into the office and kicking the door closed behind him as Toad gasped for air. The green man looked at the window, asking “I assume we can have some privacy?”
In answer, metal shutters clanged shut along the windows, darkening the room as Magneto strode over to lean against his desk. Satisfied, the green man answered Magneto’s question by changing shape, shortening in height and sprouting red hair as his skin became blue and his eyes an irisless yellow.
Magneto’s eyes widened. “Mystique?”
She smiled at him. “I’ve been looking for you for quite some time, Erik. Almost made contact with you back in D.C., but one of Charles’ pets got in the way.”
“It’s been years and you haven’t changed a day.”
“Oh, I’ve changed,” she said, walking over to one of the chairs in front of the desk and curling into it. “Many times. It looks as though you have, too. Quite the revolution you’re starting.”
Magneto moved to take his own seat behind the desk, a voluptuous red armchair like his throne and in the bare metallic office. “Can I assume you’ve come to join it?”
Mystique kicked her boots up onto the desk, stretching out in her seat as she smiled at Magneto. “I’ve come to join you. I’m a survivor, Erik, I was even back in Europe and I knew it then that you were too. If you’ll have me.”
He stared at her for a long time, falling back in his own seat with the same ease that she showed. “I’ll have you,” he said at last. “You can start by helping that wild man out there in training the recruits. They could use some lessons in...subtlety.”
Mystique stood up and nodded. “From what I saw they certainly do.” She turned and walked slowly out, stopped with her hand on the doorknob and turning back once more. “Is there a reason you aren’t wearing your helmet?”
“I’m waiting for Charles to put his on,” Magneto replied. She seemed puzzled, but asked no further questions before leaving and shutting the door behind her. He watched the door for some time wondering if he had imagined her, wondering if he just simply opened the window shutters if he would see her out there training the recruits in all the sundry ways she knew to kill a man.
After a while he drifted off to sleep slumped in his throne, his neck falling to his chest and his hands hanging off the arms. When he awoke he knew at once he was not truly awake.
He was the clothes of a college boy, sitting in a bright lecture hall empty save for himself in one of the student’s chairs and a man standing in a finely pressed suit at the front of the room, his hand posed on the podium.
“I was wondering when you would find me, Charles,” Erik said, his voice reverberating in the room. Charles always did have an eye for the minutest detail.
His old friend smiled at him. “Every so often I cast my line out hoping that you will bite. It’s been too long. I assume there’s little point in communicating your location to the authorities?”
Erik stood up and began to walk down the steps. “Not unless you want several dead authorities. I certainly wouldn’t object.”
“No, Charles said, his hand falling from the podium as he turned away to pace, “You wouldn’t. “That was a dastardly move sending my half-brother against me.You had to know how much it would hurt me to do that to him again.”
“I hoped it would make you see the light. I hoped it would show you that undesirable means are occasionally necessary, that there is not always another way.” It was now Erik at the podium. “You’ll say that I’ve given up on hope, but there is still great hope in me. I still hope, everyday, that you will stop this senseless infighting.”
Charles turned to face him. “Don’t you dare. Don’t you dare accuse me of stoking the flames of conflict you so tenderly care for. These are children, Erik, and you’re forcing them into a war.”
“They are MY children!” Erik slammed his fist against the podium and regained his composure. “You stole them away from me and the rest of the world and locked them up in your idyllic fantasy world. More than mine or yours they are the atom’s children, and you are robbing them of their destiny to inherit the ground we walk on.”
An icy blue hue overtook the room, either as a matter of conscious effort or an unconscious detail slipping through Charles’ psyche. “I don’t walk on the ground anymore. I only walk in dreams, and it’s you who did that to me.”
In such a psychic world it was impossible to tell how much time elapsed. Eventually the blue hue faded from the room while the two men stared eachother down. It was Charles who broke the silence. “I assume you know that the Mutant Registration bill will find its way to the Senate floor this week. Should we be watchful of your intervention?”
Erik gave a venomous smile. “Oh no. They are doing precisely what I expected them to do, and I further expect them to drive greater numbers into my arms with their little bill.”
Charles made no effort to hide his relief. “They’re making a dire mistake, but they’ll come to see that with time. I assume this was the reason you dropped your constant guard for us to speak?”
“Yes and no. Congress is only the most public of their anti-mutant hatred bubbling to the top. What simmers below is far more sinister, and it is to our mutual advantage to be aware of it.” Charles waited for Erik to continue and Erik took the cue. “The humans are trying to level the playing field. We’ve known that for some time. What threatens us now is that they are getting results. Search the mind of a man named Bolivar Trask. He was there on the aircraft carrier the night of my first attack. The man has been working doggedly to kill all mutants regardless of their belief. I don’t want that any more than you do.”
Charles ran his fingers across the top of his head, the familiar tic picking a string of sentimentality deep within Erik. “We’ll do what we can,” he said. The walls of the lecture hall began to evaporate along with the most distant desks. The evaporation ate its way toward the men. “One of these days it won’t be so rare for us to share common goals.”
The two men smiled at one another, but there was a sparkle of challenge that shined in both men’s eyes. “No,” Erik said. “It won’t.”

Cinematic Comic Characters Ranked! (Year 2011) Final Part
This year I think has the most characters ranked so far, and all from movies introducing brand new characters. X-Men franchise gets a reboot with X-Men: First Class; The MCU welcomes the additions of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger; DC Comics introduces Green Lantern, and we also get The Adventures of Tintin, Cowboys & Aliens, The Green Hornet, and Priest. Here’s the TOP 20!
*SPOILER ALERT FOR THE HIGHLIGHTED MOVIES MENTIONED ABOVE*
20. Kato (The Green Hornet)
"Go be a journalist. I'll kick ass."
If anyone should have been the Green Hornet, it should have be Kato. His fighting skills are great, his driving skills are even better, and his abilities with machinery have not only created the best cars for fighting crime, but also the best coffee machines. Instead he chooses to be Britt's sidekick and even though he kicks the other dude's ass on several occasions, Kato still decides to put up with him for reasons no one will understand. Oh and he can't swim, which is random, but yeah.
19. Heimdall (Thor)
"I need no longer to obey you!"
Heimdall is the seer of all things and protects the portal outside of Asgard. When the Frost Giants break into Asgard he suspects someone has figured out how to fool his abilities, and what a greater suspect than the master of illusion himself, Loki. He suspicion for the male increases when Loki becomes King and he not only sends Thor's friends to retrieve him from Earth but he also tries to attack Loki himself. Loki freezes him but his will to protect Asgard gives him the strength to break free and bring Thor and his friends back home.
18. Captain Haddock (The Adventures of Tintin)
"You hit a wall, you push through it."
He might be drunk, but you can't take away Haddock's passion towards life and the seas. It's in his blood to be a true adventure seeker in the ocean and his biggest adventure comes when Tintin reveals his ancestor, Sir Francis, has hidden away treasure. The pair work brilliantly together and in the end, Haddock takes down his biggest rival while restoring honor back to his family's name.
17. Priestess (Priest)
"We've all sacrificed. Some more than others."
When the church sends Priestess to hunt down Priest for breaking his vow, she decides to join him in his quest instead. She's a huge gain to the cause, she seems to have the same skills as Priest and is also to help him almost instantly when he needs it, which is most of the time. In fact, during the last stand, Priestess not only takes out all the familiars, but she distracts Black Hat from killing Priest and also blows up the train full of vampires that would have otherwise destroyed their city. It's hinted she has feelings for Priest but she puts them aside to recruit the rest of the priests to help them on their future missions.
16. Jane Foster (Thor)
"Magic's just science we don't understand yet."
Jane's passion for science goes beyond the facts in front of her. She constantly tries to push the limit so that she can discover something truly amazing. It comes of the form of Thor, the god of thunder and someone she manages to hit with her car. Twice. She may not fully believe his stories at first, his unique charm really helps the chemistry between them and she does what she can to help him retrieve his mighty hammer, even if technically she only did it so she could get her research back from SHIELD. When Thor returns to Asgard she isn't sure whether or not she'll see him again, so instead of waiting to find out, she's back in the lab, trying to figure out how to reach him on her own.
15. Jake Lonergan (Cowboys & Aliens)
"I'm a wanted man."
Even though he lost his memory, Jake at least was able to kick into his natural instincts from the get go. With his fancy little alien gun he becomes the leader of the human resistance against the aliens. Turns out he managed to escape the alien captivity after his wife is killed and he slash's an alien's eye to escape. He casually handles every obstacle that gets into his way until he ends up actually getting caught by said alien but manages to kill him with the help of Dolarhyde. With the town in his debt, Jake is announced a free man and is no longer at risk of rotting in a jail cell.
14. Peggy Carter/Agent Carter (Captain America: The First Avenger)
"I can do more than that."
Yo, Peggy was a freaking force of nature. She literally did everything the soldiers around her did but in heels! It was her training that showed everyone that Steve was ready for the super soldier serum and she even got to show how sick she is with a gun when Red Skull's assassin snuck into their headquarters. It sucks that Steve had to die just shortly after their relationship was starting to go to the next level, but I'm pretty sure Agent Carter goes on to be the best agent this country has seen.
13. Sebastian Shaw (X-Men: First Class)
"We are the future of the human race."
One always wonders what kinds of horrors Magento must've have went through in the concentration camps that caused his hatred for humans, and most of the horrors were because of Sebastian Shaw. Wanting to learn more about mutant abilities, Shaw tortures Erik and even kills his mother to get his research. He seems unfazed by the kid's growing hatred and power and it's probably because he's not only the leader of the Hellfire Club, an organization of powerful mutants, he's also a powerful mutant himself. He can direct every type of bullet/energy into destruction for his enemies. His main goal is to create WWIII, a nuclear war that would kill the human race and leave him to rule the mutant survivors. He has the charisma to get away with it, but with Magneto as an enemy, he stood no chance. Killed by the very quarter he used in Erik's lessons, Shaw's dreams do actually end up living on through Magneto.
12. Hicks (Priest)
"Point A? Meet Point fucking B."
I thought Hicks was going to be that guy who always gets in the way but that wasn't the case at all. He really handled himself for someone who has never gone up against vampires, his skills easily proving why he was the sheriff despite his young age. Even though he wouldn't have lasted nearly as long as he had without Priest and Priestess, he was a great supporting character who even saved Priest towards the end. Of course his main goal is to save his girlfriend, Lucy, and he's able to do just that.
11. Hank McCoy/Beast (X-Men: First Class)
"Don't mock me!"
Hank is a sweet boy who, like Mystique, wants to hide the more uglier effects of his mutation. In his case it's his feet even though his skills when he uses them is what attracts Raven to him in the first place. Still, his feelings for her aren't enough to keep him from taking the serum he created but it only makes matters worse and turns him into the blue Beast we all recognize today. He accepts his mutant self after this, but its clear that whatever he had with Mystique is over as she decides to join Magneto's Brotherhood and he stays with Charles.
10. Odin (Thor)
"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor!"
Odin is an honorable King of Asgard, who truly makes every decision for a specific reason. But even he has trouble raising his two sons. On one hand he has Thor, who isn't quite ready to rule as he's too hot headed to truly make decisions with the kingdom's interest at heart. It must've been so hard for Odin to banish him, but it's what needed to be done for him to truly understands what it means to rule unselfishly. Then on the other hand he has Loki, who has been plotting to take over since the very beginning and gets even more fuel when he finds out he's adopted. All of it is too much and Odin ends up slipping into a cosmic coma until the very end of the film, where he acknowledges the growth in Thor now that he's saved Asgard.
9. Priest (Priest)
"Then I go against God."
Most of the priests and priestess are recruited into the church when they are young, but for some reason Priest joins when he's an adult. You'd think this would make him weaker than the rest but it seems he's not only the strongest, but also their leader. When the vampires are defeated, he goes into hiding until his old ally-turned-vampire kidnaps his daughter, Lucy, who thinks she's his niece because his brother agreed to raise her when he was taken away. With the help of Priestess and Hicks, Priest defeats Black Hat and rescues Lucy, but that's just the beginning of their problems. Priest discovers the vampire queen is still alive and goes after her, completing ignoring the church's protests once again.
8. Tintin and Snowy (The Adventures of Tintin)
"Snowy, look at this!"
At just the ripe age of seventeen, Tintin has traveled the world and solved some of it's biggest mysteries for his newspaper. The kid even carries a gun around, which does end up coming in handing when he gets wrapped up in solving the mystery of the Unicorn. He's not alone though as most of his discoveries come from the help and guidance of his trusy companion, Snowy. The two end up helping a captain named Haddock in finding his ancestor's last treasure, while also dealing with an enemy that is hellbent on revenge. Still, this adventure is nothing new for Tintin and Snowy and they're able to piece together the remaining pieces of the puzzle and find Sir Francis's lost treasure.
7. Hal Jordan/Green Lantern (Green Lantern)
"Let me go fight for my world and I'll show you that will is stronger than fear."
Hal's a likable guy, despite having a bit of an ego that comes along with it. Yes, he's extremely reckless at times, but he's got that spunk that allows him to think outside of the box, which is another reason why he was chosen to be the next Green Lantern after Abin Sur dies. Throughout the film we keep seeing everyone doubt him because he does have fear in his heart, a lot of it having to due with his father's death, but it's at the end he shows everyone that it's ok to be afraid, it's how you overcome it that matters. With this discovery he's able to defeat Parralax, a task some of the strongest Lanterns died trying to do, and finally earns his spot among the Corps.
6. Raven Darkholme/Mystique (X-Men: First Class)
"Mutant and proud."
It was so interesting to see Mystique in this light. In the previous films we had this hard, deadly assassin that was one of Magneto's biggest threats against the humans and now we got to see how that came to be. Before she was the intimidating mutant we know, Raven was just a scared girl who Charles adopted as a sister and who was ashamed by how she looks. But then she's around other mutants and she slowly starts to accept herself and even comes up with everyone's codenames, but then there's little things that set her back. One, Charles is a bit of a jerk to her and keeps holding her to expectations that I don't think are necessary when he doesn't try to understand what it's like to be in her shoes. Then there's Hank who does know what it's like to have to hide, and who Raven definitely likes, but isn't secure with his own looks and even encourages her to continue to hide who she is. But with all of this, Erik stays as a constant reminder that she is perfect the way she is and that anyone else would be lucky to have her gifts. After that, it's not hard to understand why she chooses him at the end of the movie.
5. Loki (Thor)
"I never wanted the throne, I only ever wanted to be your equal!"
I'm quite familiar with Norse mythology even before I really got into comics so I knew right away that Loki was not this concerned brother he was set out to be at the beginning of the film. It was surprising to find out that not only had he constructed literally everything that happened in order to take the throne for himself (except for Odin going in a coma, that was just luck) but he's also adopted and really belongs to the King of the Frost Giants. He tries to take out Thor and use the Frost Giants to kill his father but when Thor returns he tries to save himself by attempting to destroy the Frost Giant's world as a way to appease his father. Thor stops him, however, and Loki freefalls out of Asgard but somehow manages to take control of a human on Earth just as that human meets with Nick Fury to discuss a very powerful artifact.
4. Thor (Thor)
"For the first time in my life, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do."
The introduction of Thor. We don't see him become the great hero he already is and how he got to control the mighty hammer, but we do see he still has a lot of growing to do before he's fit to rule Asgard. His growth in character comes with the help of some humans on Earth, specifically Jane, who shows him that there are different ways to handle situations instead of brute force. His growth couldn't have come at a better time as he has to face off against his brother, Loki, who practically manipulated everything leading to Thor's banishment. His moment finally comes during his final fight with Loki, when he destroys the bridge that would allow him to see Jane again. He gives her up for the kingdom's safety, truly learning how a king rules with his kingdom's interest at heart. He loses the chances of seeing Jane and also loses his brother, but he's able to reconcile with his father and the support of his friends gives hope that one day, him and Jane will reunite.
3. Charles Xavier/Professor X (X-Men: First Class)
"You're not alone."
Who knew that Porfessor X, the father figure of many future mutant students and X-Men, was such a Casanova when he was younger. I see the appeal, who wouldn't like a guy who knows exactly what to say, in the most charming way possible? Still, despite all the wild nights he has, Charles is quick to get serious when the opportunity comes to meet other mutants like himself. After meeting Erik and the others, Charles tries to bring them in on his vision of peace and working together with the humans. Of course Shaw ends up causing a big flaw in his plan and despite becoming like a brother to Erik, he ends up losing the other to his hatred of humans. He loses more than that when Erik accidentally forces a bullet into his spine, leaving him unable to walk. Understanding their views can never be the same, they separate and Charles opens up his school to all mutants for sanctuary.
2. Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto (X-Men: First Class)
"Peace was never an option."
The best origin story of the X-Men, is how their greatest enemy came to be. We watch as Magneto suffers at the hands of Shaw and the Nazis for his powers and then uses said powers to hunt them down one by one. When he fails to kill Shaw, he meets Charles Xavier and the two begin a friendship as they use their two ideologies to meet other mutants like themselves. One thing I liked about Erik is his ability to learn fast. After Emma Frost bests him during their first one, he's quick to understand her threat and quickly handles her during their next confrontation in Russia. When training he allows Charles to open up his mind to advance his skills, and he also opens up Mystique's mind to her appearance. At the last possible second, Erik shuts Charles out when he confronts Shaw, killing him with the same quarter that lead to his mother's death. He needs to work on his accountability a little though, as it was him who deflected the bullet into Charles that handicaps him. Still, it doesn't stop him from starting the Brotherhood and becoming the villain we all know...Magneto.
1. Steve Rogers/Captain America (Captain America: The First Avenger)
"I could do this all day."
Captain America is the ultimate triumphant tale of the underdog. Steve Rogers was a weak tiny man who seemed to have so many illnesses that I thought he belonged in a plastic bubble. But the kid had heart and a true sense of doing the right thing, which is why he was perfect to become Captain America. And while his transformation was a HUGE success, and I'm not just talking about his physical appearance, it took awhile for him to really see some action. Throughout the film we see that even though he's got all of these enhanced abilities, he's still just a kid from Brooklyn. He's still dorky when he's around Peggy, he still mourned heavily after Bucky's death, and he still never backed down from a fight. Despite all the terrible things Red Skull committed, Steve never even batted an eyelash when it came to taking him down, or even sacrificing himself to save millions of lives. He's a true hero for the little guy, wonder how he'll do now that he's woken up more than seventy years into the future.

Magneto’s Inhuman Bondage Adventure
( or actually Amazing Adventures vol 2 #9 “The Madness of Magneto!” )
So, this was set in a time where the Inhumans were making their first tentative, frightened steps into the world of humanity, and unfortunately, they met Magneto while he was still in the Brotherhood-smacking “Destroy all humans!” phase.
In the prior issues, the king of the Inhumans had decided to leave Attilan and go explore the human world himself. There, he intervened and rescued a Oliver Twistian teenage boy named Joey that was being beaten by his abusive uncle for failing to perform his part in a robbery with adequate servility.
Meanwhile, back in Attilan, Black Bolt’s cousins Gorgon and Karnak had not yet become entirely jaded and void of all sympathy for the king’s utterly evil and sadistic brother, Maximus. Feeling that perhaps Maximus’ imprisonment was unjustly severe, they went ahead and freed him.
Maximus proceeded to swirl a villainous cape and cackle about freedom and then seize the minds of the entire population of Attilan, using a power that none of the other members of the Royal Family even knew he had, because Black Bolt failed to inform anyone that his evil brother had mind-control powers.
Black Bolt’s rescue of Joey was interrupted when he was knocked unconscious and rendered an amnesiac by a psychic attack from Maximus. The rest of the Inhuman Royal Family was forcibly evicted from Attilan and fled to the coast of California, desperate to find their king. Triton drew human attention away from the more human-passing members of his family, leaving them to begin their search.
This is where we now open.
The Inhuman Royals, Gorgon, Karnak, and Queen Medusa, are-- yes-- burning trash in an alley for warmth. It’s fairly depressing. The lights Gorgon sees in the sky are the Trikon, an allusion to a totally irrelevant plot that is completely unaddressed over the course of the next few issues.
Footsteps alert the Inhumans to danger, and they all scatter.
A group of mutant-hunters appear, being guided by a mutant psionic called “Mooneye” who has vertically-slitted pupils, sharp teeth, and speaks in rectangle speech bubbles.
Medusa and Gorgon dispatch the heavily-armed mutant goons, while Karnak attacks Mooneye directly.
And crushes his head in his incredible Inhuman thighs.
With Mooneye unconscious, they recognize that he has some sort of telepathic powers, and Medusa allows him to project his thoughts to her mind. She sees her husband, King Black Bolt, in the mutant’s mind, giving them the first valuable clue in their search.
Unbeknownst to them, Black Bolt has been rather adorably adopted by Joey, who tries to feed his new Inhuman king some coffee. Black Bolt, not comprehending that a visibly steaming drink may be hot, burns himself and flees moodily into the night to hide his shame.
A man who will go on to trade blows with the likes of Thor, Namor, and even the Hulk, is beaten over the head by the same gang of mutant hunters that Medusa, Gorgon, and Karnak had just encountered.
They gas our very handsome ( yet quite helpless ) Inhuman hero into unconsciousness, beat Joey aside, and flee with their prize.
When he awakens, he’s restrained in some sort of lair being hosted by the Person of MAGNETO! Incredibly, Magneto is wearing an even worse costume than usual. Apparently, Magneto is employing mutant-hunters to capture more mutants for his bizarre form of team slavery.
Kinky.
Black Bolt is gagged and handcuffed in Magneto’s elaborate restraint machine. Magneto proceeds to gloat about his new mutant army that’s preparing for worldwide conquest, and offers Black Bolt a chance to be a captain in it. He assumes Black Bolt to be a mutant.
In true Silver Age Magneto fashion, he punches his potential recruit in the face.
Wait... YOU’RE RIGHT! Black Bolt was wearing civilian clothes when he was captured! Did... did Magneto undress and redress this man so that he’d be wearing his proper regalia for the mutant army speech? Is he gloating about it?!
Inexplicably, this is where the comic narrative turns to second-person. Probably because this situation is not quite embarrassing enough for everyone involved. You too can feel the violation!
Black Bolt is also electrocuted for his defiance of the Master of Magnetism. Interestingly, Black Bolt’s powerset includes electron and particle manipulation. In fact, during this time period he occasionally demonstrated matter-manipulative powers, which makes me wonder why this person has any problems in life at all.
Magneto is using electricity to torture an Inhuman that can to some degree control electricity himself. He must have looked at that lightning bolt motif while he was dressing the attractive, unconscious man he knows is named Black Bolt and thought "You know what this looks like? Electricity! That's what I'll use!"
The Inhuman Royals have stolen some fabulous new clothes with which to follow the lead on their king with impunity, using Mooneye’s powers to locate him. Medusa has even found a trendy peace necklace to accessorize with.
Medusa seeks comfort and encouragement from her family members, which is understandable, but I can still see Gorgon addressed his queen as “girl.”
Magneto’s lair is a sewer.
Incredibly, the Inhumans have already heard of Magneto’s exploits. They may be unaccustomed to the human world, but they’re not wholly ignorant!
Except Black Bolt. He still didn’t know what a hot drink was. I’m not even disappointed-- just sad. Give that man a cocoa when this is all done.
Magneto saw a news report about Black Bolt accidentally destroying a Navy ship in the harbour last issue, when as an amnesiac, the Inhuman had forgotten he had powers and tried to talk to Joey. Fortunately, Joey was not annihilated whatsoever.
Unfortunately, Magneto now believes Black Bolt to be yet another mutant with a penchant for destroying warships, and now seeks to establish dominance.
Also unfortunately, this is Magneto’s chance to explain how he escaped a plastic prison the Fantastic Four put him in for his last appearance.
Those horrible, horrible Fantastic Four, always using wooden guns and plastic.
Magneto learned to defeat plastic by doing yoga in his underwear. Also of note, he has brown hair here.
Through sheer willpower, this truly awful suit manifested on Magneto’s body as he exploded out of the plastic prison. He’s a human projectile now. You heard it.
While Magneto is ranting about using Black Bolt’s awesome power combined with his own for world domination, the Inhuman Royals finally burst into the secret sewer lair. They are understandably astonished and horrified at the treatment of their king.
Karnak is starting to have a moral crisis already.
Well, the Inhumans are definitely giving these mutants hell for the terrible time they’ve been having in the human world. I’d still hesitate to call the Royal Inhumans “simple people, good people.”
The power of love cures the amnesia!
Shock! Magneto didn’t want this atom-shattering, matter-manipulating Inhuman king at all! He was planning on capturing the rest of the family instead!
Magneto is definitely not torturing anyone. That’s just silly.
Enslaving mutants is not wrong when Magneto does it.
We conclude this issue with the Inhumans a little justified in being upset with Magneto. Hope you enjoyed!

@telepathiciism ᶫᶦᵏᵉᵈ ᵇᵉᶜᵃᵘˢᵉ Billy is the cooler twin.
▸ Billy sighed as he pushed open the door to the library, his bookbag hanging off his shoulder by one strap and his whole form looking exhausted. At first, Billy had been rather ecstatic for this trip with the Brotherhood, going out and finding other mutants and recruiting them their their cause. He’d been looking forward to helping people and maybe even meeting others around his own age. Sliding his parents some lie about a special school trip and the school one about going to visit family with his parents, he’d set out on this journey with high hopes and good intentions.
▸ Now... He would like to just get a chance to rest.
▸ Despite how their leader had dolled up the trip, the reality was far less enjoyable. The actual recruiting was not what he’d thought it’d be. They usually left late at night when he’d rather be sleeping and went to go stand around in shady buildings as Magneto met with creepy looking mutants all over the place, apparently collecting information, though he never felt inclined to share it. Any mutants they did happen to meet were not interested in being recruited and definitely none of them were teenagers. Even worse, he kept having to share tiny little motel rooms with a handful of other Brotherhood members that had no consideration for him or his things.
▸ He’d spent a good twenty minutes staring at the homework his teachers had given him prior to leaving, unable to concentrate because there was some kind of argument going on around him. Finally, fed up, he’d collected his things and stormed out while declaring he would return later. Magneto had told them to stay put and would probably have Billy’s head when he got back, but it didn’t even matter to him anymore.
▸ “Hi,” He mumbled, coming up to the desk and greeting the woman behind it. “You guys don’t have a study room in here, do you?”

@askprofessorx SO I'M REALLY SORRY THIS IS A BIG FUCKING INFO DUMP but these are my muses and my ideas for what we could do with them and Charles
The Acolytes on this blog refers to Fabian Cortez, his sister Anne Marie, and their teammates Chrome and Delgado. At the beginning of the 90s, Magneto had basically retired and fucked off to live in space alone on the humbly named Asteroid M. Then all of a sudden, four mutants show up on his doorstep being chased by SHIELD agents and proclaiming loyalty to him. He lets them in. Three of them are sincere in their claims, but their leader, Fabian Cortez, has a plot. He starts manipulating Magneto, pushing him back into villainy, into doing things that scare the hell out of humans (like collecting fucking MISSILES) because "self-defense". This leads him into conflict with the X-men, who until now he'd actually more or less made peace with, and he sustains grievous injury from Wolverine. Psychologically, this makes him feel that much more isolated and rejected, making him that much more prone to Fabian's manipulation...and physically, he now needs to rely on Fabian's healing powers. Things get worse as Fabian also uses his ability to boost other mutants powers, because it's established that Magneto's powers are to blame for his mental imbalance, so more power equals more crazy for Mags. Fabian's plans all come together when Magneto gathers Xavier and the X-Men aboard Asteroid M, intent on brainwashing them to his side, and the governments of the US and Russia, motivated by Magneto's actions, decide that Asteroid M, and all those upon it, must be destroyed. Fabian, knowing this because THAT WAS HIS PLOT, gets in the only escape pod, leaving the others to die. The X-Men are able to escape, and offer a way out to Magneto and the remaining Acolytes, but Magneto chooses to stay, to use the last of his abilities to hold the asteroid together so the X-Men can make it to their ship...and the other Acolytes choose to stay with him and die at his side. So, why did Fabian do this? Why did he want to get rid not only of the X-Men but also his supposed "leader" Magneto, and his own team, his own sister? Power. Fabian had made Magneto a martyr now, instead of someone who abandoned his cause, and he used his name to rally a cult of new Acolytes, far more bloodthirsty and genocidal than the original squad had been...with himself leading them, of course. These new nasty Acolytes did a LOT of awful things, but Fabian got his when Magneto returned from the dead (typical!) bringing a super duper powerful mutant named Exodus with him who gave Fabs the boot. Fabian flees to Genosha, kidnaps Luna (Pietro's daughter) to use as a human shield/hostage, demanding that Pietro, Wanda, Crystal (Luna's mom), and the Avengers all protect him from Exodus and Magneto or else he’ll kill Luna. He also gets the Genoshan mutants on his side (damn, this guy is charismatic!) and rallies them into causing a civil war so he can use the chaos to hide. Yeah, seeing the country “awash in a raging river of bloodshed!” is just to save his own slimy hide. What a charmer. Anyway, the good news for Fabian is that Magneto is braindead at this time due to Xavier finally whipping out the telepathic big guns on him after he ripped Wolverine’s skeleton out. The bad news is that Exodus is alive and well and shows up, kills Fabian. But Fabian doesn't stay dead. He comes back to caught more trouble, first with manipulating Joseph (Magneto's clone) and then when Magneto gets his mind back and becomes ruler of Genosha, Magneto comes back to recruit Fabian onto the Genosha cabinet (because as shitty as Fabs is, he's a good politician) and to be his personal battery since his powers are now depleted. Fabian starts secretly working to backstab Magneto AGAIN but then when Magneto's powers fully return, Magneto kills him. It mostly sticks this time. Mostly. He does show up during Necrosha though (an event where another villain mass-resurrected a bunch of mutants, of which Fabian was one, but that was a temporary thing) I play Fabian and the other original Acolytes as having been resurrected by unknown means (that's...not uncommon in Marvel tbh) Chrome, Anne Marie, and Delgado don't remember that it was Fabian who was responsible for their deaths, and have resumed their lives as terrorists with him as their teammate and leader. Naturally, Fabian doesn’t want them finding out the truth, and thus does everything he can to keep them from finding out Magneto is alive and at large, lest they seek him out and he tell them what really happened. Fabian himself also wants nothing more than to leave supervillainy at this point and have a normal life, not because he’s seen the light and turned good, but because he’s tired of getting beaten up and dying. Unfortunately, he doesn’t dare run for it, as he (rightly) believes his sister would kill him as a traitor if he did, and he doesn’t think he can escape her by murdering her again either, since he’s learned nobody stays dead (but he still doesn’t want to go through death again himself because IT’S HORRIBLE) With that setup, we've got the enemies deal down pat. Anne Marie will try to kill Xavier on sight. She can't be talked to or talked down. Chrome, it's possible to engage, and Delgado is actually unlikely to try to hurt Xavier UNLESS Xavier is getting in the way of something they're doing. As for Fabian...he might well try to get Xavier to help him out of this mess. Convince him to wipe the Acolytes minds, or rewrite their memories so they think Fabian is dead, enabling him to escape them before they can find out it was him that betrayed them and Magneto. In an XMCU verse, none of this would have happened. I'd picture it instead as Fabian and the others being fresh Brotherhood recruits, with Fabian having all these schemes in mind to betray and usurp Magneto, but not having done it yet. We could have a plot where they capture Xavier, or the X-Men have captured them, or things like that. Finally, in Evo, they're not terrorists yet, they're just teenagers. Fabian and Anne Marie are a couple of mutant kids, and they're not bad either! So, possibly students. They've actually got their powers perfectly under control more or less, and are quite comfortable with them, but they're interested in meeting others like them...and, frankly, Anne Marie needs to be taught responsible use. Because she's growing up with the ability to control the minds and emotions of other people and no one can tell her "no" on anything and it's not that she's evil but she doesn't have a concept of things like telepathic ethics and telepathic consent so she's kinda super dangerous despite being a sweetheart with no malicious intent. I do the 616 verse a lot so I'd actually be more interested in the XMCU and Evo options? I haven't seen any of the films after First Class, but your About section says that's where your default verse is, after FC but before DOFP or XMA. Over on @mypralaya I've got Haven, aka Radha Dastoor, she's a villain who showed up in seven issues of X-Factor during the 1990s. She's a woman who from an early age felt a calling to help ease the suffering and pain in the world, and worked in the streets of her native India helping the poor, caring for the sick, etc. Great person, total saint. Unfortunately, she fell in love with some cad, he knocked her up and then left her. Then things got worse, because a top-class demon known as The Adversary (demons = pretty regular things for the X-Men to deal with in the comics, actually) possessed her unborn child and started feeding her some major lies. Fast forward twenty years. She's still secretly pregnant, eternally in her first trimester. Her child is a mutant, and she can access its immense powers. She also believes it speaks to her with a divine voice, but that's the Adversary, who has made her amass a cult dedicated to spreading chaos and destruction in hopes of bringing about the Mahapralaya, a sort of Hindu apocalypse after which a beautiful age of painlessness and peace and joy for humanity will come, ending suffering forever. But Haven herself was still a really nice woman who advocated for mutant/human peace as a public figure (international best-selling author + lecturer) and in fact greatly admired Professor Xavier. But the whole "secret terrorist cult causing mass suffering" brought her into conflict with X-Factor, despite her desire to have them as her friends and allies. There's no shortage of bad guys with good intentions in the X-Men, but Haven was especially unusual in that she was a pacifist villain. She actually never attacks the good guys, even when they attack her. In fact, she tries to help them---she rescues Polaris from government agents, she heals Wolfsbane of the Genoshan brainwashing she underwent as a slave, and tries to heal Multiple Man of the Legacy Virus (X-Factor blames her for his death when she fails) We're told her cult is doing all these horrible things offscreen, but it's kinda hard to root against her when she barely even threatens anyone onscreen. Her story ends when the Adversary decides it's time to be reborn into this world and Haven...does not survive that in canon. I decided that she does, because I felt she deserved a better ending. In XMCU, demons don't really fit with the canon, so she could be a human or a mutant. Either way, not a villain, because not being influenced (and I don't really play her villain incarnation anyway, I'm more interested in what comes after) so not an antagonist, but more likely a friend or staff member? I feel like the "inspired by Xavier" thing would also be different, because she's in her early 40s, so she'd be older than your Charles, and that could be neat to explore. I mean, hell, maybe she could be a mentor figure to him, or at least a colleague in the same field (mutant/human relations) I'm guessing that it's rare for him to even meet a mutant who is older than he is, since he and Erik and the original X-Men/Brotherhood are kinda the OGs in the XMCU aside from Apocalypse. Then there's Shaw @sebastianshaw He's not a Kevin Bacon Nazi, he's not concerned with mutant supremacy, he's just concerned with money and power, to the point he'll happily throw other mutants under the bus to human bigotry if it makes him a profit. Seriously, this guy built SENTINELS for the government because it made him money, he gives no fucks about species solidarity. As for the Hellfire Club, rather than being a proto-Brotherhood, they're a worldwide social club for the wealthy elite. Most of its members (which includes the Starks, the Worthingtons, and the Braddocks) are just that, regular super-rich people who wanna hob-knob with other super-rich people at fancy parties, but behind closed doors, the Inner Circle that runs in (Shaw, Emma, etc.) are mutant bad guys bent on political and economic domination of the world. This has brought them in to conflict with the X-men several times, the most notable of which was the Dark Phoenix saga, in which the Hellfire Club recruited the telepath Mastermind to brainwash Jean into their service, resulting in her becoming the Dark Phoenix and the resultant horrors that followed, which ended in her death. Shaw's not liable to just attack Xavier, he's more like Delgado in terms of "I'm not after you, just don't get in my way" but there's still room for conflict there, as well as standard "good guy and villain have a chat" things like Xavier does with Magneto, with none of the affectionate history there. Shaw's shown to put himself on the same level of mutant influence as the likes of Xavier and Magneto even if he's way overestimating himself (I mean, he's got a lot of economic/political influence on the world but he doesn't influence mutant culture like Magneto and Charles have, he's too private/on-the-down-low as a mutant) and to have opinions on that, as well as the typical 'thinks the heroes are fools wasting their powers' gig. He's also shown to be immune to Charles' telepathy, probably due to the same Hellfire Club technology that keeps Cerebro and other psychic stuff out of the building's walls, and even without it he's trained enough in telepathic resistance he was able to give Emma a very hard fight in trying to telepathically 'get' him. So Charles can't just tell what he's thinking which makes for a more...normal/even conversation. Not that Charles goes around reading everyone's mind but like, Shaw is a bad guy, so it would be understandable if he tried just to be sure Shaw wasn't up to something, but he can't, so like...he's in the more normal person position of not being able to be sure. Also, he and Charles met in 616 before Charles formed the X-Men and before Shaw joined the Hellfire Club, but the details have never been revealed beyond that Charles embraced him as a friend and that the same young mutant (Tessa/Sage) saved both their lives, but Shaw rejected Xavier’s path and went his own way. In Evo, it's pretty easy to just introduce Shaw and the Hellfire Club as new foes on the scene, probably initially posing as a benign group with similar goals to Xavier, complete with a school of their own for young mutants (Emma Frost ran one in her Hellfire days in the comics) In XMCU...it's more complicated/difficult given the existence of Shaw there, but since that Shaw's real name is Klaus Schmidt, it's not impossible to say he stole this Shaw's identity or something, possibly along with taking/copying his powers via some kind of scientific experiment (since he doesn't display these abilities when he met young Erik) I also play Shaw's son @shinobixshaw and Fabian's son @malcortez. Shinobi is a 616 canon too, he "killed" his dad (Shaw got better) and took over his position in the Hellfire Club...and then proceeded to do nothing except drink and party and be lazy. Shinobi is not a serious threat in any way, even if he thinks he is, and thus really cannot make a decent antagonist, but he can certainly be annoying in his stupidity and arrogance and drunken shenanigans. Malcolm, on the other hand, is not from 616. He's from the Marvel Zombies universe, but has canonically access to a machine that can take him to other dimensions, including, oh, say, the XMCU! So it's perfectly plausible for him to be able to pop up in the mansion or wherever as a fish-out-of-water who needs help getting acquainted with this world. He's technically a villain in his own world, but his goals of "rule my village" won't really apply in any other world, he's just interested in his own home, not anyone else's. So he'd be more like a...very confused guest than anything else.
