Do you have any fanfic recs that aren’t proships? Because all I find when I look for fics on ao3 is proships, I think even that one person who sent a ss of what she saw was having the same issue

If youre asking for any atreboda fanfics, luckily i do 💜in no particular order: 1) grounded/uzieminoy , 2) how do i fair? , 3) the stars here are different (i have no idea if deleted or is just for members. Its about angrboda having a dream of her and atreus in a field and it manifesting into them actually kissing in the golden fields of jotunheim. Its a really cute short story) , 4) of monsters and men (not really atreboda focused but they are there. KEEP IN MIND this fic is very violent and graphic but i really love how the author made this. Its not completed yet but there is a sort of happy end.) 5) window seat (was a oneshot but then author wanted it to be a series but discontinued it shortly after 💔), 6) of atreus and calliope (not completely atreboda focused and i havent been up to date with this one as of late, but it is constantly updated. I recommend for the cute and angsty sibling moments with atreus and calliope), 7) blood upon the sands (freytos focused with atreboda involved. Havent finished this either but i recommend 💚)

i have literally been unpacking the fukuchi/fukuzawa situation since watching last night and while i feel sorry for fukuchi and i empathize with him and his motives, i still highkey do not LIKE him.

now that we've seen the culmination of his arc, i was right that his major M.O./character trait is to deny people choice, even IF denying people choice is to save them. using the book. using one order. fucking with literal time and space to negate the choices of OTHERS.

and then finally what he pulled with fukuzawa at the end there.

and like? that behavior is SUPER antithetical to BSD's anti-authoritarian core themes as a whole. think about dazai's speech to kyouka...that the only thing people truly have is the ability to make choices and to agonize over those choices.

even by LITERALLY DYING, he's denied fukuzawa the right to choose his role in this. even if fukuzawa can't kill him, he'll die anyway, and burden fukuzawa with a role he DOES NOT WANT, and a choice that he KNOWS will cause him immeasurable pain.

and seriously??? i don't think he would leave that choice to fukuzawa unless he knew there was a high chance fukuzawa would go through with his plan.

(hell, fukuchi's entire relationship with teruko--his closest confidant, the only OTHER person he seems to trust--is based in unwavering, unquestioning loyalty. to the point where she'll kill him JUST because he ordered her to, in spite of the fact that this is literally the last thing she wants to do.)

and like...i definitely don't think the ramifications of fukuchi's actions are over yet whatsoever. like, shit. obviously.

if anything, i think the theme of choice is going to come back around big time. fukuzawa has, uh, some big decisions to make lmao, and i'm hoping that more rational characters like dazai and mori have some bearing on those choices.

more than anything, i'm hoping that ranpo finally asserts himself with fukuzawa and pushes him toward an answer that doesn't involve self-sacrifice.

(this is going to get messy...i'll be surprised if it doesn't.)

i think the best outcome here is the story playing with the idea that humanity is collaborative. no one person should EVER have the power to control others. our actions effect each other, for better or worse. we all deserve to have a say in what happens.

that's literally baked into fukuzawa's character! he says it on screen RIGHT before this happens! so to see him struggling with this is...concerning and painful, even though i genuinely think (I HOPE???) he'll make a rational choice here. even if it's a struggle to make.

but...idk. yeah. i feel sorry for fukuchi, i really do, but i don't think he's a good guy in this story by a longshot.

They're such fucking misnomers for what they're actually referring to that it's not even CLEAR what they're actually referring to.

I struggle to even apply any of this shit to myself. Labels serve as a concise way to communicate something. A label has failed to function as a concise descriptor when it does not describe what you want it to.

Put the shipcourse connotations to these words aside for a second. Just take them for their literal, face-value translation.

I'm not """anti-ship""". I'm not fucking against shipping. Nor am I """pro-ship""" per se?? I'm shipping-positive and shipping-favorable -- like sex-positive and sex-favorable, I'm good with other people doing it and I like doing it -- but not indiscriminately???

There are ships I dislike and there's nothing about it related to ethics. "Anti-ship" and "pro-ship" are such absolutist fucking terms, black-and-white and binary and un-nuanced, "this or that".

But here's the thing: these words don't just mean "how you feel about shipping". Shipping is hardly the tip of the fucking iceberg. A small, singular, surface-level facet to a deep and complex issue related to art, reality, human relationships, and responsibility.

(And that's problem #2 with the labels: encompassing a fraction's fraction's fraction of what this is really about and making it sound like petty fandom bullshit instead.)

What it's really about is portrayal of sensitive and fucked up matters in fiction, and of how to engage with it. It's about what's healthy and what's not. It's about what's ethical and what's not.

It's about boundaries; the line between fiction and reality, the line between artists and their works, the line between creator and audience.

It's about the nature of art, the nature of the relationship between an artist and their artwork, the nature of the relationship between artwork and those who view it. It's about art as a medium through which interaction occurs simply by one person creating it and another perceiving it.

It's about responsibility and accountability. It's about the placement of responsibility and accountability in the artist-viewer relationship. Who is accountable for what. Where does the artist's due diligence end, and where do the viewer's discretion and critical thinking begin. Who takes credit or blame for what.

It's about consequences and who receives them. It's about how art reflects upon the artist, and how it doesn't. It's about what it means to create, to bring something forth to the world and to put it out there to be perceived and judged and acted upon.

I ran out of spoons but. TLDR: shipcourse labels suck so much -- dysfunctional and counterproductive, misleading, wildly failing to capture stances in the real issue at hand -- and we should stop using them actually

So, currently it’s in the very early stages of development. Like I just started making it today & it probably won’t be up & running until, like, a couple of days give or take. (though realistically, since I’m busy, it’ll be done when it’s done 👍)

In the meantime, the current plan is this:

17+ server. no prosh*p (ie. inc3st, p3do shit, real person shipping, etc.). None of that shit. Plus your regular standard rules.

- general category (just general stuff)

channels included are: general chat, irl stuff like selfies & pets, memes, music share, etc.

- artistic(?) category (channels that are catered more towards SPN-related discussion but some channels are more general*.)

channels included are: fanart, *unrelated art, *art by others, writing, headcanons, AUs, narrative discussion, lore discussion.

- character category (channels dedicated towards the characters + their actors. This category might get snipped due to it possibly clogging up the server. I’m still deciding.)

Currently retiring this idea till further notice. I’m gonna make “spn-cast” it’s own channel as not to clog the server with unnecessary channels. Also in the works of making a “fandom-wank” & possibly a “vent” channel. Where I’d put these idk but I’m figuring it out.

- NSFW/18+ category (private category available to users aged 18 and above only.)

channels included are: general, art, & writing. (Definitely might expand the channel list but yeah.)

Also idk if I’m going to add bots. Ideally, there’d be some but I’m gonna have to ask a friend or something to help me with that stuff. (Though if you really really want em please tell me & I’ll make it happen 100%)

I’m definitely adding bots now. Starboard & PluralKit are currently two I’m gonna add at some point. (If you have any suggestions for bots feel free to tell me.)

Emotes will also be added just probably not on launch. Wanna get everything up & running smoothly before adding the fancy stuff.

Why are there so many proshippers in the ponytown tag? Like why ponytown specifically?? "Ah yes where should I go to discuss my love for shipping fictional small children with grown adults? Ah, perfect: THE PONY GAME". I'm just so curious, I was just scrolling through the tag to look at some cute character designs and came across that shit again and again. Maybe they're more widespread than I thought. Idk the ponytown meetups just threw me off lol

I HATE the Caroline/GLaDOS is chells mum theory because there is barley any evidence supporting it and people act like it’s fucking cannon. And I think half the ppl who believe it haven’t even looked into it, they just heard some fucker say that GLaDOS was Chells mum and believed it with no questions asked.

Also maybe I’m insane but I think there is more homoerotic subtext in portal than there ever is subtext of Caroline/GLaDOS being related to Chell in anyway.
