Thought more on the 'Batfam in Danny's world' stuff.
Red Robin: What is this? -holds up a clunky early 2000s device he found in Danny's room between his pinched fingers, like it might bite him- Danny: Oh, my PDA? Tucker insisted on buying it for me but honestly I'm not really that great with tech so I don't use it much. He usually follows me around trying to manage my schedule with it. Red Robin: Concerning but, more concerning, this thing... Works? Danny: It's the latest model, so it should? Red Robin: Latest... -trying not to cringe- How do you connect to the internet on it? Or take pictures? Danny, with genuine excitement: Your PDA can do that!? Man, that sounds way cooler than the plastic that lets you see all the stuff inside! Red Robin: I'm In Hell.
Spoiler: Having villains for parents is the worst right? Danny: I mean, my mom accidentally brings the food to life and it tries to bite us. But the keyword is 'accidentally'. They're mostly harmless. Spoiler: They literally just shot at you??? Danny: They shot at Phantom. They don't know it's actually me you know? Also I don't even worry about it. They don't have very good aim since I'm not a danger to them and Dad only gets badass when mom is in danger. Mom's always a badass but it's good dodging practice. Besides, I'd be more worried about them dissecting me, what with the whole, I'm technically an entirely different species that they've been studying their whole life and don't think I'm sentient anymore. But y'know it's whatever. They're not actually all that bad and I know they love me deep down. Spoiler: I'm not sure whether to borrow Hood's guns and shoot you myself or kidnap you away from here and force Batman to adopt you. Danny: Wha-
Danny: Alright a few more adjustments aaaaand there! Signal: Oh wow! Thanks! It's nuce to be able to see again without getting black spots on my vision. There's so many ghosts around it can be hard to see. Danny, biting his lip trying not to laugh: No problem. Signa;: .... What? Danny: Nothing! You look great dude! Signal: ....... Danny: ....... Signal: What did you put on my face!? Danny: Sun glasses! Signal: -skids to a halt in front of mirror and sure enough they're sun glasses. But they're triangular and the hooks go aaaall the way up to hook around the bat-ear points and look completely ridiculous- Danny Why :( Danny: -trying to say 'sorry' through his giggles, but he's not really sorry-
Danny: Uuuuh Red Hood I can't see your face, but I'm kinda worried about how many guns you're loading right now. Red Hood: I just want your 15th birthday party to be safe, okay? Danny: I'll be fine? It'd be nice if the other ghosts gave me a day off sure, but fighting them seems safer. I don't really want my mom to bake a cake anyway. Knowing her it'd just come alive so if they forget this year it's fine. I'm just, those are real guns man. They're dangerous. Red Hood: They are. -cocks gun- For Them.
Robin: >:( Danny: It was a nice try. Robin: Do not patronize me Fenton! Danny: I don't know why or how, but that sounds even more insulting than when Dash does it... Robin: This is an indignity! Fighting immortals entities that cannot be harmed by blade is one thing- but I will not accept being spoken to like a child! Skulker will return and taste my fury! Danny: Hey calm down alright? Robin: Do not test my patience! Danny: I heard you like animals. Wanna meet my purple back gorilla friend? She's really nice and is easy to talk to. Robin: .... The gorilla... doesn't speak does she? Danny: Haha no of course not! I learned her language instead. Robin: ... You are a strange man. However I will accept your proposal for now and I insist you teach me every form of communication with her.
Orphan: :( Danny, who's always been able to understand Cass perfectly, much to the mystery of the batfam and her delight: Aw Cass, I love you guys too. It's been great having your family around- and really I'm flattered! But I can't be your new brother, I'm sorry, but we do live in different realities. Besides, I think I've had enough of people trying to adopt me. Orphan: ? Danny: Yeah my godfather is a total fruitloop. Always trying to kill my dad and marry my mom who hates his guts and get me to call him father instead. Like, he even tried to clone me and copy my brain into a new body right? Or that time he rigged the election to become mayor just to mess with me. And hiring actually competent ghost hunters so I'd quit (kinda wish I could quit actually but it's fine). His obsession with me can get out of hand sometimes you see. Orphan: >:( -cracks knuckles- Danny: What? No! I don't need protecting really! I can handle him just fine. Now that I'm thinking about it though, I dunno what he'd do with Jazz. He never seems to actually talk about her beyond that one time he tried to get her to attack me- huh? Orphan: -disappeared- Danny: ...... That probably won't come back to haunt me.

Poly marauders where it’s like there teen daughter gets into a fight and like smokes and stuff and like conversations and text trying to figure out what’s going on and telling each other what’s happening and like her yelling at them and finding out she’s been hanging around the wrong kind of people and she’s been stealing and just like good angst but then she says sorry walks away and slowly stops but like still ofc and teen girl 💕💕
𝟷.𝟹𝚔 || 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓
♡ ︎ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ: Your teen daughter was hanging out with wrong kind of people, causing all of you to confront her.
♡ ︎ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢꜱ: None
♡ ︎ꜱʜɪᴘ: poly!marauders x mom!Reader
"She's stealing, James. STEALING." Sirius’s voice came through the phone, low and angry. You could hear it even though James had stepped into the kitchen to take the call. Your heart clenched, dread coiling tightly in your chest.
You glanced at Remus, who was sitting on the couch, his brow furrowed as he typed furiously into his phone, likely messaging Peter. It had been a few tense days now. First, your daughter had gotten into a fight at school. Then came the smoking. And now…you were learning about the stealing.
James walked back into the living room, running a hand through his hair. His usually calm demeanor was shattered, his hazel eyes full of worry. He opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Sirius’s voice on speakerphone, growling, “This is bloody ridiculous. Who’s she been hanging out with? How did we not know?”
You winced. “She’s not a bad kid,” you whispered, more to yourself than anyone else. “We must’ve missed something, right? Maybe if I had—”
“Don’t,” Remus cut in gently, finally looking up from his phone. His eyes softened as he reached for your hand. “You didn’t do anything wrong, love.”
But the guilt gnawed at you anyway. You were her mother. You were supposed to protect her, guide her, and yet here you all were, blindsided by her sudden spiral.
The front door slammed, jolting you out of your thoughts. There she was, your daughter, stomping into the room with an air of defiance.
“Sweetheart, we need to talk,” James started, his voice steady but filled with concern.
“No, we don’t,” she snapped. “I’m not a child. You don’t get to control my life!”
Sirius, who had hung up and now stormed in after her, looked livid. “You’re stealing now?” His voice was tight with fury, and you saw James reach out, placing a firm hand on his shoulder to stop him from escalating. “We didn’t raise you to act like this. What the hell is going on?”
She rolled her eyes. “Maybe if you actually paid attention to what I want, instead of what you want me to be, I wouldn’t have to sneak around!”
Remus took a deep breath, stepping in. “Who have you been hanging out with, darling?”
Her jaw tightened, and for a moment, you saw the scared girl beneath the rebellious facade. “It doesn’t matter,” she mumbled. “I’ve got my own life, alright? You guys don’t get it.”
Peter, who had just arrived, slipped in quietly, standing by the door. He had always been the quiet one in confrontations like these, but his eyes were filled with worry. “We do get it,” he said softly. “We’ve been your age. But hanging out with people who are getting you into fights, into trouble…it’s not the way.”
Her lip trembled, and for a second, it seemed like she was going to break. But then she just shook her head and stormed toward her room, slamming the door behind her.
The silence that followed was suffocating. You sat down hard on the couch, burying your face in your hands. “I failed her,” you choked out, your voice thick with tears. “I should’ve known. I should’ve seen it.”
Sirius’s anger faltered, and he knelt down in front of you. “Hey, no. None of this is your fault.”
James crouched beside you, wrapping his arms around you tightly. “You’re a great mom,” he whispered into your hair. “She’s just…lost right now.”
You shook your head, tears spilling down your cheeks. “But what if we lose her, James? What if we're not enough?”
Remus was there in an instant, sitting beside you, pulling you close. “We won’t lose her,” he murmured. “We’ll figure it out together, okay? We’ve always got each other.”
Peter nodded from the side. “She’s tough, just like you. She’ll come around.”
Sirius, who had always been the most protective, clenched his fists, still simmering with frustration but trying his best to soften for your sake. “I just don’t want her getting hurt,” he admitted, his voice raw with emotion. “I don’t want her to turn into someone we don’t recognize.”
James kissed his temple, his voice gentle but firm. “She won’t. We’ll make sure of it.”
Over the next few days, things were tense, but slowly, you began to see changes. She came home earlier, didn’t pick as many fights. It wasn’t a complete transformation—far from it—but there were glimmers of hope. She even sat down with you once, just to watch TV. It wasn’t much, but it was something.
One evening, she came up to you while the boys were scattered around the house. “Mom?” she asked, her voice quiet.
You looked up, your heart in your throat. “Yes, sweetie?”
“I’m sorry.” Her eyes were filled with genuine remorse. “I…I messed up. I’m still mad, but I know I messed up.”
You pulled her into your arms, tears welling in your eyes again, but this time from relief. “I love you,” you whispered, kissing the top of her head. “No matter what, I love you.”
She nodded, hugging you tightly before stepping back. “I’m gonna try…to do better.”
It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start.
hope this is what you were going for! also i wasn't sure if you wanted reader insert, so i twisted it up a bit

See, this is what happens when people don't count important details in storytelling just because it's not being said outright, but rather shown through character expressions without dialogue. There were hints from the beginning that Stella was always meant to be a bad person and an obstacle to Stolas' feelings for Blitzø.
Don't believe me? Watch Loo Loo Land again with more open ears and eyes. Stella is shown throwing stuff at Stolas, including his sentient plants which he values highly and she was likely aware of that. That imp butler she threw at him means she not only abuses Stolas, but her own servants too, especially those of a particular lower class race.
Octavia's expressions here imply that this isn't an isolated incident either. That's the look of a girl who's heard this same type of arguing from her parents everyday. With how annoyed she looks, Stolas and Stella might as well have been fighting like this for years. It'd be more surprising if they didn't.
Octavia's lack of a reaction to her mom throwing a plant that almost hit her implies that this is far from the first time Stella has thrown things around the house. That is a concerning thing to get used to. Stella is also heard yelling about Stolas sleeping with an IMP, in THEIR bed. Notice the emphasis on "imp" and "our" bed. Even Stolas' only response to that is "I didn't have time to go to a motel!" It's pretty clear here that Stella is more concerned about about Stolas cheating on her with an imp specifically and ruining her reputation than the fact that he cheated at all.
If she was truly upset about the cheating itself, she would've said something more along the lines of "I can't believe you slept with someone else!" or something like that. Throwing their imp butler and him saying "You wanna fuck this one too?" and calling Stolas "pathetic, imp-sucking face" is all you need to know that Stella is making it more about WHO Stolas cheated on her with than the fact that he cheated. Keep in mind that this argument was going on right in front of Via, who didn't even say anything or try to stop it.
Octavia here says "You two done screaming for the day?" with little emotion, and Stolas' reply basically amounts to "Yup" without hesitation. More and more proof that his marriage with Stella was NEVER happy and never something that he wanted.
Later in the episode, Via does say that her parents used to love each other, even though we as the audience know it's not true. Stolas even tries to explain to her that he and Stella were never in love to begin with, but he didn't have the words. Because how exactly can you explain to your daughter that you and your wife were in an arranged marriage since you guys were kids for the sole purpose of producing a child, without offending her and making her think she was only born for one purpose? Or better yet, what reason is there to assume that she'd actually believe you?
People have looked at this picture on the wall and somehow came to the conclusion that Stolas and Stella used to be in a happy, loving relationship based on this picture alone, just because Stella is smiling in it. But if you look cloesly, you'll see that smile on Stella is barely there. She's very obviously faking it to keep up an image. She's forcing it so people won't get suspicious. This is the vision of Stella that Octavia remembers from her youth, which is exactly why she was naive enough to believe that her parents genuinely loved each other before Blitzø came along for a one night stand in hopes of getting the grimoire. Sure, she had seen them arguing and fighting with each other before that, but that's mainly because most if not all parents have gotten into nasty arguments at some point that their children were more likely than not to witness.
Stella is barely looking at Stolas there, clearly rolling her eyes and just wanting the picture to be overwith already. Stolas is genuinely happy there, but that's because his "little owlette" is there with him. He's not looking at Stella at all. Another picture in their house with just Stolas and Stella together has both of them frowning and looking at the camera, not each other. Octavia is the only thing to come out of Stolas' marriage that ever gave him any real happiness. She was the only reason he stayed at that house.
That scene where Stella ignores Octavia's cry for help when she's having a nightmare and tells Stolas to go check on her instead is more evidence that Stella had never been a nice person or a good mother. You could argue that she was just too tired to do anything about it, but look again. Stolas was just as tired as she was, yet he still went out of way to comfort his "little Starfire" when she was having a bad dream. Octavia may have called for both of her parents, but she said she had a bad dream about her father disappearing. Not her parents, just her father.
Also notice the drawings in Octavia's bedroom when she's a child. Look at how many of them are of her and Stolas together, but Stella is nowhere to be found in those drawings. That shows how close Via is to her father, especially when she was a little girl, but was never really close to her mother at all. Sure, those drawings are no longer in Via's room when she's a teen in the present, but remember that her and Stolas gradually got less close to each other as the years went by and their relationship got more flawed, to the point that Via questions if her dad even loves her anymore and literally listens to music about hating dads. But the fact remains that there were never any drawings of Stella in her daughter's room and there still isn't now is pretty telling that Stella was never a good mom, still isn't now and likely never will be.
Now look at The Harvest Moon Festival. If Loo Loo Land didn't convince you that Stella was a bitch, then this episode sure will. Stella's only scene in the episode is her screaming into a phone while she's talking to Striker about wanting Stolas dead. Right in front of him and Octavia. While Via is listening to music that's too loud for her to have even heard the screaming, Stolas heard it pretty clearly. But he had no reaction to his own wife screeching about hiring an assassin to kill him. Him being completely unphased by something like that is surely a sign that Stella had always hated his guts and he knew about it. He likely heard her shouting at the top of her lungs about wanting to murder him with her own bare hands. If he's not reacting to Stella talking to Striker on the phone about planning his death in front of him, he might as well have been hearing shit like that from her for years.
Not counting the pilot, those are the only two scenes with Stella in season 1. Both scenes depicted her in the same light. A loud, violent bitch in a loveless marriage. Therefore, her reveal in The Circus about always hating Stolas from the get go is not a retcon. Not that there was even much known about her character for there to be retconned in the first place, but her few scenes before that episode showed her doing and saying nothing BUT horrible things.
As for Stolitz, Blitzø is more than once implied to return Stolas' feelings for him. He just never said it out loud and is in denial about his own feelings. He's not even aware that Stolas' love for him is genuine because between their reuniting at the Not Divorce Party and their fumbled fake date at Ozzie's, Stolas has only ever talked to Blitzø with sexual innuendos. So Blitzø had no reason to assume that Stolas was legitimately in love with him and didn't just want him for sexy times, because Stolas hadn't really been helping his case. Blitzø ranted to Fizzarolli about Stolas "acting" like he cared about him outside of sex.
Everytime Blitzø talks about Stolas treating him like his own personal fuck toy, he looks and sounds pretty upset about it. I doubt he'd care all that much about his relationship with Stolas being transactional fucking if he didn't like him back. Right after the fake date gone wrong at Ozzie's, Blitzø is looking at several pictures saved in his phone, one of them being a photo of him Stolas laying together in bed. Blitzø looks genuinely happy in that photo, he's even smiling. He DOES enjoy being around Stolas. When Loona comforts him after Bee's party, he can be heard whispering the names of all the people he cares about and is close to. Those people being Loona, Moxxie, Millie and.... Stolas.
In Seeing Stars, Blitzø blushes when seeing Stolas in his human form and you can see his pupils dialating for a few seconds before he changes for a few seconds. I don't know about you, but I don't blush at anyone i'm not in love with when they get a new look. Pupils dialating are also a commom indication that you're looking at something you love. Later in that episode, Blitzo nervously sweats when Stolas whispers into his ear with a seductive voice, smiles at Stolas specifically when he causes the whole audience to laugh, and holds his hand while they run out of the burning building. Blitzø did not need to hold Stolas' hand. He could've just said "Hey, let's get the fuck outta here," and Stolas wouldn't have hesitated. On top of that, they are still shown holding hands long after they escaped and only let go once they see their daughters.
Now, onto the most complicated scene involving the Stolitz relationship, during Blitzø's ball tripping hallucination where he sees Stolas on top of a staircase and is being pulled towards him with chains. Already not a good sign. But Blitzø was already climbing the staircase before the chains appeared. Even when he saw Stolas above him, he didn't run away. He briefly walked towards him before being dragged towards him. He's seen blushing once he reaches the top and Stolas caresses his face. Also notice how the art style in Blitzø's ball trip sequence was completely different from how the show normally looks, but the moment he saw Stolas the art style changed back to normal. Meaning that Blitzø feels the most like himself when he's around Stolas.
He just wants to be in a legit, healthy relationship with Stolas out of love, not the transactional fuck buddy situation he's in right now. He wishes that Stolas would stop calling him degrading nicknames like "impish little plaything" and is bothered by the power imbalance between the two of them.
"Show, don't tell" is an important writing tool that isn't respected these days. If a story isn't being anvilicious and spoonfeeding you information with heavy-handed exposition and infodumps left and right, then foreshadowing details get dismissed and ignored, with some people straight up saying they don't count because it's not being spelled out to them every 5 seconds. This is why some people still insist that Stella's villainy was retconned and that Blitzø has no interest in Stolas despite evidence to the contrary. They were paying more attention to their headcanons than what the show actually presented, and got mad when their headcanons were contradicted by canon.

I'm just imagining two scenarios -
either dion almost gets the isekai treatment where a gen-Z potential transmigrator gets reincarnated as him after dying but instead, dion has og!dion and transmigrator!dion in their body.
Another is where lanthe has an illegitimate child (b/c he would) and this daughter of his literally looks just like the younger version of lanthe and she grows up right alongside dion and teaches him how to stay sane and akes sure he's mentally stable tips on how to survive. Cue the two of them helping Roxana kill lanthe
YOU AND ME.
dion agrece + transmigrator!gen z!reader got reincarnated as him, but og!dion and reader are in the same body — platonic. / fluff / tw torture , mentions of suicide .
letters from the stars: OMG I misread the ask.. I'm so sorry </3
DION both pities and envies you. He pities you for the fact that you were stuck in such a situation, and envies you for the fact that you got a better childhood than him pre-transmigration.
Although he doesn't show it, DION grows to care for you as time goes on. despite you both being pure subconcious minds, he learns how to be more human because of you, he learns how to feel more.
Although you two were souls stuck in his body, the two of you decided to split duties. DION gets to train, go on his missions and do the monthly test while controlling the body, so you do everything else while DION rests.
If you're younger than DION, he'll eventually see you as his younger sibling, refusing to let you do any "dirty work" that he's meant to do.
If you're older than him, DION respects you, and even sometimes asks your input and opinion on things, as he's been thankfully taught to respect his elders.
DION doesn't really tell you what to do or say, unless you have to talk to Lant, then he'll definitely tell you what to do so you wouldn't get on his bad side.
You and DION usually interact through dreams or in your guys' headspace, but the latter being uncommon.
DION doesn't want to see you how he tortures people and toys, because he, surprisingly, hates the feeling of you being scared or disturbed.
You two are able to feel each others' emotions, so the two of you are like open books to one another, it's impossible hiding something from him.
DION, unsurprisingly, doesn't get your humor, and usually finds himself somewhat concerned about the things you say. He doesn't want you to turn out like him, and the dark humor and pessimistic stuff you say doesn't help with his concerns.
Although he doesn't say it, you somewhat scare and confuse DION with your actions and threats of committing suicide. Please don't actually do it, and why the hell are you fist-fighting a crow?
You and DION get into playful banters often, usually from a weird thought or stupid question you ask him, trying to intentionally piss him off.

Just a non-comprehensive list of all the things P'Jojo touched on throughout the entirety of The Warp Effect:
The harm of forcing teens to promise absolute abstinence from sex while not providing space for safe and open discussions about it
Some people have a strong sense of their sexuality/gender identity. Others don't
Even guys who seem like good ones can do horrible things and be unaware. They are not required to be forgiven no matter how guilty they feel
Being single by choice is not shameful
Fwb is not shameful either
No one has any right to expect more out of a relationship when you have communicated what you are up for up front
Female friendship is a beautiful, wonderful thing, why would we pit so many bad bitches against each other when they're cooler as friends?
Nonsexual kinks are valid and with the right person can make for a beautiful relationship
There are several methods for pregnancy and it's important to discuss things with your donor (if you've chosen one personally)
Listen to your partner! It is actually possible to be together for a decade and still be unaware of something they like/dislike!
You can be forgiven for being shitty in high school but that is not up to you, it's only up to the person you have wronged
Always know the age of whoever you're talking to so you don't accidentally sleep with a minor
Fatphobia and transphobia have never been cool
Trauma hurts and the journey to work through it is difficult. It's not wrong to want to reconcile with someone and find that you can't. It's not wrong to try to push past it numerous times. It is not your fault someone ruined what should be a good experience for you
Nonsexual intimacy is valid and the right partner will work with you to understand your needs
The choice to have children is a really big one and no it should not be an excuse to keep the relationship together. The choice not to doesn't always have to break it up either
Abortion is a personal matter and should be done safely and legally
STDs have all sorts of origins and are an important matter to address in terms of being polyamorous or even going from one partner to the next. They are also not a reason to feel shame and are simply a matter of getting proper treatment and abstaining from sex while healing. Straight couples can get them, it isn't just a gay stereotype
Anyone can have a romantic relationship and not have sex
Parenting from afar isn't being responsible, but it is still possible to create a relationship with your estranged child
Dick size is nothing to be concerned about - you can find someone who enjoys a sexual relationship with you no matter what
It is so important to see your doctor. If that doctor makes you uncomfortable, though, you should be fine to leave and go somewhere else
Gay does not mean pedophile and it's important for you and your children to know the difference because there are gay teachers and coaches who have enough on their shoulders
Cheating doesn't have to include anything physical if you're seeking pleasure from someone who is not your partner and have not discussed such things with your partner or the person you cheat with
Sex work should not be criminalized and more of us need to standing up for the rights of sex workers
Masturbation is normal and doesn't have to be treated as sad or pathetic
Cishet people can be amazing allies. You can have your group of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and trans people with a bunch of them included and it can be a fabulous group
Casting agents that don't allow for body and gender diversity don't deserve their job
The show gave us a whole PSA on pelvic exams????? HELP??????
ALWAYS PRACTICE SAFE SEX NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE, ORIENTATION, OR IDENTITY IS - ALWAYS HAVE A PROPER DISCUSSION AND STICK TO WHAT EVERYONE CONSENTS TO. ALWAYS
I swear I'm still missing stuff but everything that The Warp Effect said is so special to me

Thoughts upon finishing Master and Apprentice! A good double read with Padawan; the ending of that leaving Obi-Wan slightly hopeful about his relationship to Qui-Gon makes for a very sad yet hilarious ‘Local Padawan loses last little bit of hope he didn’t even know he still had’ sort of vibe to the beginning of this one, which is set one (1) year later and Obi-Wan is So Done with Qui-Gon’s whole deal by this point (correctly btw). Also if you can’t tell already I will not be objective or free from bias in this because I love Obi-Wan so much and some of the stuff Qui-Gon pulled made me incandescent with rage on his behalf <3 let’s go
- 'oh obi-wan, you're so mature for your age, I keep forgetting you're only seventeen years old,' qui-gon says, word for word, repeatedly, in master and apprentice, apparently willfully deaf to the industrial-sized warning bells about their relationship dynamic that should probably be setting off in his head. qui-gon believes in vibing with the living force and being in the moment right up until the moment requires him to pay attention to the kid he's raising for more than oh, one and a half minutes of self-effacing inner monologue and then he's like 'well unfortunately there is simply no time for that right now there are prophecies to be pondered'. (the fact that the admission that obi-wan has essentially been left to raise himself emotionally and the resigned reframing of that as 'and maybe that is a good thing!' is part of the olive branch they extend to each other towards the end... will my sadness never end)
- most of all it's so heartbreaking to me that qui-gon seemingly never understands just how much obi-wan as a person is rooted deeply in shame. I don't think that's a feeling that's particularly prevalent in qui-gon's own inner world so he doesn't recognize how central it is in obi-wan's psychology and completely misunderstands and misaligns with him again and again and again and then gets annoyed with obi-wan for that, thus making the shame even deeper. doubly painful because he does see the way rael lives so much of his life out of shame now and feels sad about it, but can't see the way he's contributing to obi-wan doing so. this is what fucks me up so bad about the generational trauma in star wars -- no one here meant to be cruel. for all his faults I do think qui-gon does love obi-wan and doesn't mean to hurt him. but the original sin of the prequels as far as I'm concerned is qui-gon tenderly drying away obi-wan's tears as he's dying even while completely failing to see him, his eyes too fixed on anakin's future to actually be with obi-wan, who's there right now and needs him.
these are simply very different people trying and failing to understand each other, and the harm that can still happen in that… 'if you love me, you don't love me in a way I understand', all the way through the disaster line, even when the love is there, it is there, that’s what hurts the most, it just doesn’t reach where it’s needed, there’s a connection that doesn’t happen. (ironically I think ahsoka doesn't doubt that anakin loves her, it's just uh everything else that went down. so y'know family curse broken! new even more fucked up curse achieved now with more child murder. I mean there already was some child murder in this family but anakin upped the game exponentially)
- a lil guy who's basically tarzan except the gorillas are replaced with protocol droids and then he becomes a jewel thief is one of the funniest star wars concepts I've ever heard and I hope pax and rahara get to pop up in more star wars media, they’re great fun. (also an idea I think would be super fun to make a character/campaign around in Edge of the Empire or something, everyone playing different droids and then one person being robo-parented lol)
- was not prepared to have rael posit a theory of what essentially seems to be the jedi version of predestination in his despair, but I do love to see it haha. especially interesting since he, qui-gon and dooku must be among the people alive who've studied the prophecies in most depth, and they've all reached different conclusions -- dooku decides to join the war of light and dark on the side of dark for some reason, qui-gon (possibly the stubbornest fucker the jedi order ever produced) 'turns towards the light not to win some great cosmic game, but because it is the light', and rael in the middle falls into the depressed apathy of 'it doesn't matter what we do here, the outcome is already decided; for there to be true balance there has to be as much dark as light in the world so we're fucked'. but in the end he does take qui-gon's words to heart and turns towards the light rather than accepting dooku's offer, even if he might not believe it makes a difference in the long run. man I love rael. hobo-looking sonofabitch living in a castle for eight years will just suddenly fling out some deep jedi theology huh
- master rael 'I'm gonna make up for the big terrible mistake I made on accident by making an even bigger more premeditated mistake on purpose' averross (affectionate)
- the added layer to dooku’s fascination with prophecy after reading dooku: jedi lost — that his best friend in the world was a seer who couldn’t turn it off and it destroyed him……….. dooku you’re not getting him back if you just understand what he saw you know that right
- the more I read of master and apprentice the more I realize that the reason yoda and qui-gon don't get along is that they're two of the judgiest bitches the jedi order ever produced. They’re like two cats scowling judgmentally at each other from opposite sides of the room pretending to live and let live while going ‘you’re wrong tho’ internally.
- I dunk on him constantly (not entirely without affection, however grudging), but Qui-Gon is genuinely a really interesting character. He’s so… he’s so. He’s infuriating but he’s infuriating in an equidistant sort of way. You feel me. He’s pissing everyone off equally and he just doesn’t care because again, he’s the stubbornest judgiest bitch around and thinks he’s right all the time. I would be free to just enjoy his ornery ‘no actually I’m right about this’ ass and the chaos he wreaks so much more if Obi-Wan didn’t have to live with the emotional consequences of it lol.
- poor rael closing in on fifty with his puriteen middle-aged little brother clutching pearls about his getting laid once in a blue moon fhdskjahfas. again a really interesting insight into different ways of interpreting the jedi code, though, I love seeing the jedi not be an ideological monolith. to be fair to rael, having sex sometimes does seem to be the indulgence he has that causes the least conflict with his principles or loyalties so you know what honestly force speed you my friend why not. (and then there's qui-gon 'noooo sex is only okay if you're In Love (implied: like I was)!!!' jinn lmao. I wonder what he'd think of anakin and padme's relationship, would that pass the 'being sufficiently purely in love' test for him) I do like how consistently it’s shown that rael doesn’t mean to be cruel or unkind in anything he says, he always notices something landing too close to home and then pulls carefully back from it instead of pushing on. He seems to be the emotional intelligence powerhouse in this lineage (as long as he doesn’t have his feelings too tangled up in something, at least).
Dooku: jedi lost also shows us that dooku absolutely knows rael is out there in the galaxy laying pipe and is, at worst, softly amused by it. So in this little family unit it’s only qui-gon losing his mind over it fjsdkafa I’m so used to having qui-gon be the wild card maverick compared to obi-wan ‘*in tears* but what are the RULES master’ kenobi, it’s so fucking funny that within the context that raised him he’s the stick in the mud
I guess. the book also had a plot and it was not bad! some interesting insights about how the republic interacted with the big corporations and just how fucked everything already was by this point. I'm a pretty character-driven reader so that's what sticks with me for the most part
- obi-wan’s big teenage rebellion here being that sometimes. Occasionally. When he really loses his temper and gets hot under the collar. He’ll say something slightly passive aggressive out loud instead of keeping it contained inside his head. And qui-gon still can’t handle that gracefully AT ALL he snaps right back fdjskfhas. (I guess he also snitches on qui-gon to the council but well, you know, qui-gon was breaking republic law pretty brazenly at that point I think that moves beyond teenage angst and into ‘...master that’s a wholeass felony’ territory). Obi-Wan does go for a couple of low blows, but like. Nothing that’s not actually true, is the thing. And mostly he blames himself for not being good enough, because surely if he were qui gon wouldn’t treat him like this. Augh. hngh. Pain. suffering.
- I am not one of the people who think everything would have automatically been just hunky-dory if only qui-gon lived and could have been anakin's master (in fact I would have given it a 50/50 chance of going exponentially worse way faster; being more similar as people is not always a guarantee that a relationship will go smoother and qui-gon is an incredibly difficult man to be close to for any length of time), but the way this book basically presents how the dynamic between dooku, rael and qui-gon could have gone on in the next generation too... it would have been incredibly unfair to obi-wan (as always I think that's just an universal constant lmao) but I think the odds of it turning out okay would have been better if you had him in the mix to run crisis control for both qui-gon and anakin, as he does for each of them individually as best he can anyway. at least he could have been free to be anakin's brother and friend purely in that scenario, without all the added mess of grief and having to take on a parental role there so young. he does basically fill that role in ahsoka's apprenticeship, after all.
- qui-gon finally hugging rael before he leaves the planet (and especially since when they were younger he wanted to, but held himself back from it)... that's still his big brother even with all the shit that's happened since ;_____; when someone teaches you how to swim (literally and symbolically) that shit stays with you I suppose
Relatedly: DOOKU getting hugged, and gladly. What the fuck. Are you all seeing this shit. I’m gonna cry or laugh I’m not sure which one why am I emotionally invested in the galaxy's most problematic grandpa now this sucks
#and that's the power of star wars baybey#star wars#master and apprentice#obi wan kenobi#qui gon jin#rael averross#count dooku#star wars meta

Injured has me in a chokehold. Has us ALL in a chokehold. ty <3 Want to apologize for how long this got… sorry
Trying to sympathize with Olga and Alexia but it's a little hard to because it seems like they've never spoken about Bambi’s presence and what that meant when Olga first got into a relationship with Alexia.
In each instance Alexia seems to see Bambi as an afterthought—and she’s normalized it to the point where she can’t help but just blurt stuff out and push Bambi to the side. It’s selfish and very traumatizing to Bambi :( why didn't they have a conversation about whether or not Olga was ready to form a relationship with not only Alexia, but Bambi too?
Had they not considered trying to co-parent Bambi first before deciding to have Jaume? It goes both ways for Alexia and Olga and the miscommunication is not just concerning for Bambi, but Jaume too. The whole bit about “I love Jaume bc he’s mine but mostly bc he’s your’s too” is so disconcerting because ??? all along Bambi’s been here and she’s Alexia’s. Was Bambi always going to be that bastard child Olga couldn’t fully love just because she wasn’t something Olga (nor Alexia, kinda) really wanted?
This is a little irrational but what if Olga decides that Jaume is actually her’s the way she’s internalized that Bambi’s Alexia’s? I feel like it’s so wrong to assume possession of a child when you get into a relationship with someone who has children already. It’s not to say Olga needs to want Bambi as much as Jenni does immediately… but I feel like it would’ve been much less painful to have considered forming a relationship with Alexia AND Bambi. What are your thoughts?
ig I just really like how complex and thought-evoking everything is! Olga didn’t try with Bambi because she didn’t want to be rejected by Alexia. Alexia didn’t try to get Olga and Bambi to interact more because she thought Olga didn’t want to. The true villain here is miscommunication and clearly the two need to be more frank about where they’re heading because this seems like slippery slope into a bad marriage and …really bad parenting. Alexia’s already overcompensating with Jaume and I doubt that’s any good too.
It’s kind of easy to align with Alba and Jenni considering the Putellas-Rios household so far has done nothing but harm poor Bambi. I do appreciate seeing their views and the grovelling Alexia doing… but team Jenni! She’s at an advantage where she can prioritize Bambi and always consider what’s best for the child. Not only that, but she truly wants Bambi and is being so mature and respectful towards Alexia about it (sorry lol… I currently cannot fathom how Alexia could possibly get us to the reconciliation outcome. Enjoying the attempts though.) Kids should never have to go through parents who don’t completely, wholeheartedly want them. It creates resentment in both the kid… and a little bit in the parent. Bambi is definitely the definition of forced to grow up and she shouldn’t have to.
Honestly all I wanted to ask was where you currently align in terms of reconciliation or not. It’d be cool to see a little bit more of your thought process with regard to Bambi and what you think is best for her. Sorry about the long msg!
ps. lowkey was like “you got eggsma?” at Bambi the entire time
Don't apologise. I love these kinds of long messages.
It is such a complex situation because Alexia and Olga both have different ideas and thought processes and they never even realised until this was all going on.
Bambi was always a little bit self-sufficient, it was just how she was but this whole situation is maturing her much too quickly.
Of course, I'm way more informed than you guys about where this is all going/how reconciliation could be achieved. Right now, it looks pretty grim but Alexia did put in some effort (even if she did muck up the ending). Everyone can see that she's trying whether or not it's successful.
The next part is definitely going to be a bit rough for Bambi and Jenni though but somehow a bit healing in some parts. It's very easy to put Alexia and Olga as villains in Bambi's story but Jenni isn't perfect either and the next part is definitely going to be a bit of a warning about how small things can freak out a traumatised child even if you have the best intentions

🧡Alice/017 X Imagnairy Reader🖤
You Worked at the Cabin Fever Labs before it all went to hell, You and your wife, Alice also known as 017 along with your child BeauBut when the Cabin Fever Labs did go down You were ripped apart by the Anti-drone sentinels causing Alice to go slightly crazy but now...after a few years She likes to pretend you are still there with her...
She walked into one of the operation rooms where she saw 'You' sitting on one of the hospital beds reading a book "Heya Dollface!" Alice exclaimed
"Alice!" You exclaimed putting your book away "Darling How was you're day?" You asked
"Grrreat Dear!" Alice replied "I killed some drones that came through the vents and cut 'em up! Even got some parts to make myself bigger!" Alice explained excitedly
"Now, come here Dear, I got some big ol' kisses for you" Alice said walking over to the bed before grabbing you and pinning you down and kissing you aggressively "I've missed you my dollface!
"You kissed back and smiled "I Missed you as well dear" you replied with a small blush on you're screen
Alice's kisses got longer and more passionate "So, what were ya reading about?" Alice asked "Some kinda depressing book?" Alice added "I hate depressing stuff...except when its me causing the depressing effects!" Alice joked
You chuckled "It is quite depressing! I believe its an Edgar Allen Poe book too?" You said glancing at the book "But seriously What's up with the guy and dead chicks?" You aughed
"Not a clue Love! But hey, at least its entertaining!" Alice said "I mean, its better than a lot of the lame sappy love books out there these days..." Alice said glancing at her wedding ring
You nodded but didn't reply for a moment "Alice...do you sometimes feel as if...you aren't real?" You asked randomly
"Huh? What are ya on about love? I'm as real as you are?" Alice said with a confused sigh "Sometimes you act...odd, love...." Alice said "I hope you're okay?" Alice said with worry and confusion on her face
"I just feel...well it's odd but I feel as if I'm not real?" You sighed "Odd isn't it?" You chuckled
Alice tilted her head "Well...I can assure you, you are very real" Alice said before thinking for a moment "Now, I got a question for ya, why do you think that?" Alice said before she started scratching and repairing one of her legs
"I-i don't know..." You mumbled "It's like-...it's like I'm not real and well...imaginary?" You said
Alice sat there trying to process what you said "...well, that's....kinda crazy talk, Sweetie!" Alice said while still sounding confused and concerned "Do you have any idea why you're even thinking like that Love?""No..." You replied "But It sometimes feels that way...Like i-" You paused "Like I'm dead" You muttered
Alice stared at you before putting her hand on your cheek "Darling....I'm not sure what could be the cause of these crazy thoughts of yours" Alice said lovingly "...I can assure you, you are far from dead, you're alive and I'm proud to call ya my wife" Alice said kissing your cheek
You leaned into her touch "Your right darling...I don't know what I was thinking" You smiledAlice kept kissing your cheek and smiling
"Hey, you can tell me anything ok love? I'm here for ya" Alice said "Now...why dont we watch one of those silly sappy romance movies? The worst ones we can find and just turn our brains off and watch some bad acting?" Alice said with a giggle "What do ya say?"
You laughed "Yeah" You replied "That sounds nice" You added
Alice smiled before standing up and offering her hand "Alright, well come on, Let's go pick something super sappy and cheesy to watch" Alice said "We'll just be lazy and cuddle in bed all night".....
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Uzi unleashes her AbsoluteSolver to destroy the door buttons, thus opening the doors and giving the Sentinels more free roaming in the area
The Sentinels make their way to Alice's room However Alice slowly closes the door before the Sentinels show up "BEAU! HELP ME WITH-" Alice cried but It's too late As The Sentinels are here now
Alice is flashed and paralyzed as the Sentinels enter the room, crushing Alice under their feet, thus getting rid of her for good.....

GRABS YOU /silly
Okay so uhh umm uhh Castor and Donovan relationship issues yaayyy
Get ready for a long ass ramble
(I apologize in advance for how much info I'm putting in here)
[Pre-cannibal Castor]
So when Castor met Donovan, he was kinda clingy. Not too much, but just enough to be annoying, yk? Donovan would be cooking food and Castor would come up and kinda get in the way of what he was doing, or would refuse to let go of Donovan when he got up in the morning (Donovan has been slightly late to work a couple times because of that) but other than that Castor was a good boyfriend to him! And usually Donovan just found it endearing anyway.
Donovan would kinda treat Castor like he didn't know what he was doing sometimes. He would always have to be careful with Castor when he was starting to freak out, but when Castor got better at controlling himself Donovan would still treat him like a child a lot. He almost never let Castor do stuff on his own, and would insist on either helping him or doing it for him. Castor found it annoying, cuz he's a full grown adult and can do stuff on his own. He just needed to be taught how to use electronics sometimes and he would be able to get it by himself after that.
["Uh oh I'm considering cannibalism" Castor]
So yk how I mentioned before that Castor got better at controlling himself eventually? Well, he did, but at some point Donovan noticed that he was going back to his old ways all of a sudden. Being very fidgety and often worrying about bad things that could happen once more. They would be watching a movie on the couch and Castor would suddenly worry about someone breaking into the house, Castor would be afraid that his food was poisoned, etc, just like when Donovan first met him. Keep in mind this was around the time that Bob hired Castor at Boys & Grills.
Castor was also starting to bring up his past a lot more, how much guilt he felt about what he had done, even though he wasn't in control of his own body when those things happened.
Donovan knew something was wrong and tried to get Castor to him, but Castor refused to tell him. He wasn't communicating his issues, and that made Donovan worried.
(Cannibal Castor)
Castor started saying things that were really concerning. He would tell Donovan things like "You knew I'd never hurt you, right? I just want you to know that you're safe with me" or "I'm a bad person. I am a really bad person, please tell me that you'll stay." and things along the lines of that. Donovan was scared and confused, why was his boyfriend saying this stuff? He had enough of the worrying, and started desperately trying to get the information out of Castor about why he was acting like this. Often yelling at him, which he regretted and apologized for afterward. He just loved Castor and wanted to find out what was wrong so he could help.
But THEN Donovan caught Castor eating human meat one day. They had a whole argument about it, and Donovan made Castor leave the house.
Donovan couldn't bring himself to call the police on his boyfriend, because he was convinced that Castor was still fixable deep down. That he could undo the damage Bob had done and get him to stop killing people, on purpose this time. He loved him and wanted to get the old Castor back
So currently they keep breaking up and getting back together again, with Donovan trying to go through the exhausting process of getting Castor to go back to the sweet (but a little messed up) guy he was before, the one that would never hurt another person on purpose.
Yaayyy that's it sorry for the multiple paragraphs LMFAO I've just been wanting to talk about this for a WHILE
GRRR, GRRRR RELATIONSHIP ISSUES MAKE ME GO
Donovan, my boy, I dont know if your boyfriend is fixable at this point...
GOD, THE "I'm a bad person. I am a really bad person, please tell me that you'll stay." Castor knows this shit is WRONG but still wants Donovan arround and doesnt want to loose him aughhhhh...
The horrible process of wanting to help someone but he just keeps going back to the wrong habits, ashdfgakhsdgflahsjlghf.
Dont you DARE apologize for the long text, it FED ME GOOD /pos

Returning to the Byers House
Hopper’s POV after the end of season 2, when he returns to the Byers house where he finds a mess and an injured Steve surrounded by worried kids.
On AO3.
Ships: none
Warnings: referenced child abuse, injuries, patching up of injuries and Hopper doing some shady stuff as a cop
~~~~~~~~
Hopper is having a long night and he isn’t looking forward to it becoming much longer as he drives back to the Byers house, a sleeping El in the car next to him. She closed the gate and seems fine, just overworked, which he is glad about.
Right now, he just wants lay El down on a mattress and wait for Joyce to come back and know she and Will are both alright. However, life is not meant to be good for Hopper tonight, because there is a car that wasn’t there when he left pulled up to the Byers house.
A car Hopper recognizes as Billy’s.
He mentally curses and leaves El in the car so he can drive her to safety quickly should something happen as he stomps up to the house.
When he opens the door, he is met by a mess. It’s like a tornado swept through the room and the irritated thought that he shouldn’t have trusted the irresponsible Harrington boy to be in charge crosses his mind, before he sees who’s stumbling through group the kids to protect them.
Steve Harrington looks terrible, he’s swaying in place and his face is mostly bruise. In his hands is a nail bat and he pushes the kids behind him. It takes a few slow blinks with swollen eyes before he recognized who’s standing there and lowers the bat with a soft: “Chief?”
“Yeah, kid,” Hopper says, taking a step forward as the kids come out from behind Steve. “What happened here?”
It seems that Steve isn’t really processing the question, falling back down on the couch with a loud groan, clutching his bat for easy access. He’s still scanning the room behind Hopper for danger, but he’s not listening.
Worry creeps up Hopper’s spine, surprising him. He only knows Steve from all the times he has had to break up parties at his house, parents never in sight. Yet here he is, concerned about his beat up face and the implications it had for the time he wasn’t there.
“What happened here?” he repeats, this time directed to the kids, hoping they will give them and answer where Steve can’t.
A redhead steps forwards and says: “It’s all my fault.”
Lucas immediately jumps in: “No, it isn’t, Max.”
“Yes, it is!” Max snaps back. “Billy was looking for me. I’m the reason he was here. I’m the reason you and Steve got hurt.”
It’s clear that Lucas is about to protest again, but Hopper puts an end to it, before they devolve into a full blow squabble fest. Then he gets the kids to tell him what happened tonight, eyebrows creeping higher and higher on his face as his headache increases. He doesn’t want to deal with this tonight. However, a tied up, drugged Billy in front of him, doesn’t leave him much choice.
The last thing he wants is for Joyce to come home to this, in the back of his mind he’s wondering why she isn’t here yet. He can already picture her crying over Will’s corpse, a year further and this time for real. It painfully reminds him of his own daughter, so he pushes the thought aside to focus on the Billy-issue.
Billy’s eyes are aware, but he looks paralyzed. Hopper knows that what he’s going to do is bad and he shouldn’t. However, he has other things to worry about right now and by the sounds of it Billy isn’t a guy he pities much.
So, without preamble he lifts Billy and stuffs him in the passenger side of his own car, driving a few blocks down and parking haphazardly alongside the side of the road. Then he puts Billy behind the wheel and unties him. He leans in and whispers: “In this town, this is going to be your word against mine. Be smart about what you say.”
With that done, he walks back to the Byers house and has Max make a scared phone call to the station, luckily the whole situation she’s just been through makes it easy to sell. Hopefully Billy will be picked up by his officers soon for Hopper to deal with later.
After all that, he can finally deal with Steve, still on the couch, looking worse for wear than Hopper saw when he first came in.
El is now resting on Will’s bed, Mike keeping her company, something he isn’t thinking about right now. But Lucas, Dustin and Max are still uncertainly hovering around Steve.
Steve, who is sitting upright, sure, but also slumped over. His eyes have closed and if it weren’t for the wheeze that comes from his broken nose every time he breathes, Hopper would have checked for a pulse.
He hadn’t been like that when Hopper entered, attempting to stand up again for the perceived threat, something Hopper nipped in the bud, before he could hurt himself more as he tried.
Still, the wheeze alone isn’t enough to comfort Hopper. Steve has just gotten the shit beat out of him and Hopper has seen his fair share of head injuries throughout the years. That cannot be good. In fact, it can be quite bad.
So, he squats down and shakes Steve’s shoulder, gruffly saying: “Wake up, kid. Come on, I need to ask you a few questions.”
Steve groans. A reaction is good. He doesn’t open his eyes, however. Less good.
“I don’t have all day here,” Hopper tells him, trying not to show the ever growing worry. “I need to check that you don’t have a concussion. Look up for me, come on.”
After a second of no reaction, Hopper takes it upon himself to lift Steve’s head, trying to ignore how little Steve struggles, how heavy his head feels. He takes his less swollen eye and forcefully lifts the lid, shining his flashlight into it.
It’s a comfort when Steve’s pupils shrink under the light and he flinches back from the light groaning: “Too brigh’ st’p.”
“Sorry, kid,” he says, not sorry in the slightest. “You took quite a hit. Are you feel dizzy?” A confirming groan. “Nauseous?” A noncommittal hum. “Kid? Nauseous, do you feel it?”
“Alrea’y threw u’ ea’lier, th’nk ’s gone now,” Steve manages to answer.
“Good, good,” Hopper nods to himself, feeling a little out of his dept, but not wanting to show it to the kids surrounding him, since they’ve all managed to relax slightly with a new adult in the room to take over the worrying about Steve. Not that that’s stopping them from hovering right over his shoulder.
Though, he can’t really blame the kids for that. Earlier Steve already protected most of them from the demodogs and then he protected them from Billy, before keeping them safe throughout their suicide mission in those tunnels. Hopper mentally makes a not to scold the kids about that last part later, now he lets it go along with their hovering and tries to focus on Steve.
He isn’t sure what more to ask. It’s clear that it hurts and everything he knows about concussions and head injuries slips his mind as he tries to grasp it.
Luckily, before his silence drags on so long it becomes obvious, the door opens again and he hears Joyce’s familiar gasp as she exclaims: “What happened here?”
Hopper hopes she knows more about this than he does as he turns to her, looking alive with an equally alive Will in Jonathan’s arms, and says: “Billy came after the kids and they pulled a stupid shit. Steve kept them safe, he just got hurt in the process.”
With that he leans to the side so that the others can see Steve’s lolling, injured face. Horrified, the three gasp, Jonathan subconsciously holding Will a little tighter as Nancy steps closer to the two brothers.
Joyce, however, rushes forwards in a concerned manner, cupping Steve’s cheek softly as she checks over his face.
Steve blinks heavily to try and get this new person in focus, having melted into her gentle touch after a moment of hesitation. When he finally manages, he pulls away from her, though, flinching a little as he softly says: “’M sorry ab’t your plate. Billy smas’ed it on m’head.”
He sounds so sincere about it too, like Joyce will be mad at him when Billy smashed a plate on his head.
“Jesus Christ,” Hopper rubs his forehead, immediately regretting it as Steve flinches away from him at the sound. Hopper doesn’t know if it’s because of the concussion or something bigger, but he files the action away from later.
Meanwhile Joyce reassures him in a soothing voice: “It’s okay, dear. I’m not mad about the plate.”
“You’ren’t?” Steve asks, sounding confused.
“I’m not,” Joyce confirms. “I’m more worries about you, honey.”
“You ar’?” Again that confused tone. This time Joyce and Hopper share a look and Hopper can see his own heartbreak reflected in Joyce’s eyes. Whatever is happening in that Harrington house, it can’t be very loving if Steve is this confused about people being worried for him after getting his face beat in.
“Yes, I am,” Joyce tells him, choosing to focus on his physical well being first. “Can you tell me if the lights hurt?”
“They do,” Steve confirms softly.
“Feeling fuzzy?” Joyce asks and Steve nods.
Hopper pipes up: “He said he was dizzy and he threw up earlier, but he isn’t nauseous anymore right now.”
At that point, Nancy appears behind them as well, Jonathan now gone to take care of Will while his mother is busy with Steve. She gasps again as she sees the damage from close by and with a shaky voice, she asks: “Is he okay?”
Steve doesn’t seem to notice her presence, so Joyce responds for him: “He’s not doing so hot, but he’s going to be fine, don’t worry, dear. Why don’t you go help Jonathan with the kids, get them all home safely?”
Nancy nods as the kids protest loudly at being send home, only quieting down and giving in when Steve lets out a loud groan at the sudden noise.
While Nancy gets all the kids out of the house, Hopper keeps Steve upright as Joyce goes to get an ice pack for his head and a glass of water to drink. When she gets back, it’s just the three of them in the Byers living room.
She presses the ice pack to his head, startling him. Before she can apologize, he recognizes her again and repeats: “M sorry ab’t your plate. Billy smas’ed it on m’head.”
Another stab of worry goes through Hopper at the apparent memory loss and Joyce also looks concerned as she reassures the kid again that it’s fine. A feeling that is not at all aided by the fact that Steve is confused by their care once more.
As Joyce is coaxing him to drink the water slowly, Hopper says: “We need to take him to a hospital, Joyce. This isn’t good.”
“No!” Steve yells, the most clear he has sounded all evening, even as he winces at his own volume.
“Why not?” Hopper asks, not planning to listen to the kid, but curious to his reasoning.
“I can’t sign m’self ou’,” Steve says, struggling but powering through. “Need m’ paren’s. They’re on bus’ness. ‘S import’nt. They’ll be mad if m’ shit c’mes in th’ way.”
Joyce and Hopper share another look, none of this sounds right to them. Not one thing.
“Are you sure?” Joyce asks him gently. “You’re pretty beat up. It’ll be better for a doctor to take a look at that. I’m sure your parents will be concerned when they see how hurt you are.”
A bitter laugh from Steve is the only reply to that, then he seemingly drifts off again mentally. His eyes droops and he murmurs: “’M ti’ed.”
“Sleeping is bad, right?” Hopper asks.
“He needs to be woken every hour, someone needs to ask him questions to see if his brain is still okay,” Joyce replies, shaking Steve’s shoulder and asking: “Who’s the president?”
Steve makes a discontent noise, then shrugs: “S’me dick m’dad likes.”
Hopper can’t help the snort as he says: “Reagan?”
“Yea’, ‘im,” Steve nods.
“What year is it?” Joyce asks, elbowing Hopper at his amusement of Steve’s answer.
“1984,” Steve answers. “Can I s’eep now?”
“In a little bit,” Joyce says. “I want to check if there isn’t bits of plate still in your head. Is that alright, sweetheart?”
“’ure,” Steve nods. “Sorry ab’t the plate. Billy smash’d it.”
“I know, honey, it’s okay,” Joyce tells him as she carefully goes over his head. There aren’t many pieces left, but she sends Hopper to get the tweezers and some butterfly bandages. He dutifully does, knees cracking as he gets up.
He then watches Joyce gentle remove the pieces of ceramic, wincing in sympathy whenever Steve lets out a small noise. A thing that doesn’t happen as often as it should in Hoppers opinion. It takes about fifteen minutes before she declares: “There, all done.”
“Than’s,” Steve replies, voice still sounding off both from the hit and the still broken nose.
“I can re-set your nose for you,” Hopper offers. “But it’ll hurt.”
“’S fine, I can han’le it,” Steve assures him, blinking himself awake enough to nod at Hopper to go ahead.
Hopper squats in front of him, both hands coming up until he’s framing Steve’s nose. He counts: “1, 2…” then cracks before he can say 3.
Steve lets out a loud groan and flinches away from the hurt. His hand comes up, but he stops himself before he can touch it. He repeats: “Than’s. Can I s’eep now?”
“Yeah, sweetheart,” Joyce smiles at him, carding a hand through his hair and getting him comfortable on the couch. “We might wake you up in a bit, though.”
Once he’s off in dreamland, something that doesn’t take long, Hopper says: “I still think we need to take him to a hospital.”
“So do I,” Joyce agrees. “But you saw that face. I don’t know how the Harringtons run a household, but I don’t want to risk it.I know that look, Hop. I’ve had that look with Lonnie. He seems fine enough to keep here for the night. If it gets worse we can always go, but until then it’s not worth getting him in trouble for.”
And Hopper hates all the implications. Hates how he came to the same conclusion. Hates his own snap judgment of the boy when he first came back now that he’s seen him like this. But he doesn’t say any of that, just sighs: “You’re right.”
With all of the craziness of the night calmed down, Joyce suddenly asks: “How’s El?”
“Resting,” Hopper answers. “Will?”
“The same,” Joyce says.
They’re both quiet for a moment, then Hopper gets up, his knees cracking again. Joyce looks at him in confusion, until she sees he’s cleaning up the mess left in the living room. Then she joins him and they clean up the house in a companionable silence as they wait for Jonathan to come back. The only eventful thing is the dead demodog in the fridge giving them quite a scare.
Jonathan doesn’t take long to return, closing the door softly with an exhaustion in his frame that marks all of them. When he spots Steve sleeping on the couch, he gives a nod in his direction and softly asks: “Is he okay?”
“We hope so,” Joyce sighs softly. “We’re keeping an eye on him for now.”
“Shouldn’t he be in the hospital?” Jonathan asks, studying Steve’s face a little closer.
“Maybe,” Joyce answers. “But he didn’t want to go.”
“Is he in a state of mind to make that decision?” Jonathan frowns.
“Kid,” Hopper cuts in. “Sometimes not asking questions is better. Not everything is meant to be shared when the person you’re interrogating has a concussion.”
Jonathan looks back, first meets Hopper’s eyes, then Joyce’s. He must see something on her face, because he suddenly nods with knowing eyes and turns back to Steve for a moment. In a brotherly gesture, he pushes the hair out of Steve’s face, then nods to himself. “I’ll watch over Will tonight,” he says. “Get some rest, mom.”
Joyce nods gratefully at him, but calls after him: “Wake me if you get tired and need a break.”
He nods, then leaves as Joyce puts the cleaning supplies down. Hopper doesn’t mind, it was more to keep their hands busy, so their minds wouldn't be.
“I’m staying up to keep an eye on Steve,” he tells her.
She repeats the words she says to Jonathan, but both know he won’t take her up on it. So, they say their goodnights and part ways.
Hopper makes himself comfortable in one of the chairs and settles in for a long night of watching Steve take wheezy breaths. His nose will be permanently crooked, Hopper has righted noses before, but it’s not an exact science. If he wants to keep it straight, he’ll have to go to the hospital to get it re-broken, but Hopper doesn’t think he’ll have changed his mind in the morning.
As the night drags on, worry fades as exhaustion sets in. Every hour he gets more coherent answers from Steve to his question, but with each hour that passes he longs to sleep more and more.
In the end, he’s dozing, though still awake despite all odds, when the first light comes in through the window. And he fully falls asleep when Joyce tells him it’s okay, that she’ll take over, unable to sleep more after everything.
When he wakes up, it’s a few hours later and El and Steve are both awkwardly sitting around the table with Joyce, both munching on a plate of breakfast. It’s an odd sight that makes Hopper chuckle, before groaning as he gets up. Fuck, he’s getting old.
The noise gathers the attention from the table and El lights up and says: “I have learned another word. Concussion. Steve has a concussion.”
Steve grimaces at her proud words, shrinking into himself a little and hiding behind the sunglasses perched on his nose. It’s a little straighter with Hoppers attention, but the sunglasses on it must still hurt.
He shakes the thought of and ruffles El’s short curls, too happy that she’s safe to be mad at her running away stunt. “Good job, kid,” he tells her. “It can be your word of the day.”
She nods with a small smile, before turning back to her breakfast, giving Hopper an opportunity to look over Steve for a moment. He isn’t really eating breakfast, more pushing the food around on his plate, looking like he should be lying down instead.
“Why aren’t you sleeping some more, kid?” Hopper asks gently, out of the corner of his eyes he sees Joyce pull a face that conveys ‘that’s what I said!’ that he ignores for the moment.
Steve gives a small shrug, not meeting anyone’s eyes and says: “I should be heading home. I’ve taken up enough time already.”
Again a bit of Hopper’s heart breaks and he wonders if he can do something, anything to the Harringtons, even if he knows that with their wealth that chance is pretty small. So, he settles for assuring Steve: “None of us mind. You went through a lot yesterday, we don’t mind looking out for you while you rest up a bit more.”
At the words Steve looks at him like he’s grown two heads, before schooling it into something nonchalant, careless. He plasters on a fake smile and replies: “Thank you, but don’t worry about it, Chief.”
“I mean it, Steve,” Hopper tells him seriously.
There’s a flicker in his mask, before Steve nods with that same stupidly fake smile that isn’t fooling Hopper in the slightest. “And so do I. I’m sure, Chief. I would like to sleep in my own bed for a little more.”
Hopper wants to fight him, but his foot down and force Steve to let them take care of him for a little bit. But Steve is nearly an adult and, as much as Hopper hates it, he has to deal with El and Will and everything else that came with covering up the Upside Down. He doesn’t have it in him to wage war against something so ingrained in Steve to hide away from.
So, he sighs and says: “Fine, but I’m driving you home and coming to check on you tomorrow. If you’re not resting and in bed, I will drag you there, are we clear?”
“Yes, sir,” Steve replies, turning what sounds like an instinctual response into a joke, which he only half pulls off due to the relief.
He leaves El in the care of Joyce for a little longer, ignoring how unhappy she looks at his decision to let Steve get away with this, and drives Steve home.
The car ride is quiet until they’re pulling up in front of the big empty house. Then Hopper says: “I meant it when I said we don’t mind looking out for you. You don’t have to go through this alone, you know.”
“I know,” Steve says softly, in a tone that screams that he very much did not know. “But my mom will be home tomorrow. She’ll make me soup.”
Hopper doesn’t believe him for a second, but lets him go anyway. Still, as he watches Steve goes, he promises to himself to keep a closer eye on the kid.
However, the Harringtons are seemingly never home for him to have a stern chat with and Steve is better at deflecting and wiggling out of conversations he doesn’t want to have when he doesn’t have a concussion. So, he doesn’t have much success there either.
And the next time it all goes to shit again and Steve gets hurt, Hopper isn’t there to help him through that first night of hurting.
~~
A/N:
I am a sucker for the hours after, you know. They only show it in season 1, but there is always a clean up. The moments of it all sinking in. The licking of wounds. And that fascinates me so much, idk why.
Spoilers for Owl House Season 3 episode 3: Watching and Dreaming (the episode is up on full HD on wcostream.net for anyone unable to watch it legally btw)
aight i'm gonna just, do a fucking "my thougths" as a watch through the episode a second time because i can this is gonna be a mix of serious points, and also me gushing because i'm in love with this show and also drinking like, just a toooouch
- I feel like lowkey, the things Amity, Gus, Willow and Hunter say during Luz' nightmare, are so effective and hurtful because they could definitely be what they actually think. And on some twisted deep down super petty level, they probably are, brought to the surface by the Collector's magic.
- Luz absolutely only realized just how much a child the Collector actually was when she realized they didn't understand what Death is. The way she now only asks "do you not know what Death means to mortals?" but how she fully goes out of battle stance. She doesn't just lower Stringbean down in shock, she instantly loosens her stance and puts them by her side, she's no longer prepping for a fight, because she just realized how much her opponent is a kid
- Raine with Tousled hair is so,,,, they're so,,,, I wanna marry them so bad you have no idea
- so on first watch i thought it was like, pretty explicit that the Collector killed the Baby Titans, but on second watch it might, not be? we really don't know enough about the Collector and their family to know for sure, maybe they did take away some of the kids, maybe they didn't. Maybe it was a bit of both? Would've loved to see more, but also i think it's nice for it to be kinda open so fans can play with the idea of there being more titans out there.
- When Luz gets overtaken by the growth stuff from Belos, absolutely the Collector does realize something happened. Like yes they try to "fix her" but the question of "where'd she go?" tells that they know, right away, something's up. This isn't like when their toys break, something feels off, different, wrong. The way they cling onto that little light, the hint of genuine concern in their voice as they ask. It's not just a, just a fucking feeling of "hey wait, where'd they go?" like when your friends are hiding.
The collector can tell it's different, it's wrong, but hey! they're the Colelctor, they're all powerful! they can fix her, bring her back! but they can't And the collector realizes what they've been doing
- I love how, from the very first proper sentence the Titan speaks to Luz in Person (not the wake up one) you can tell what kid of person he is/was. Like you can tell, both from what he said and how he's dressed, how warm, kind and loving he was. Like just, I'm so sad, he didn't get to meet King in person, and when i watched it through the first time i was so sure Luz was gonna pull him back along with her to the living, but it didn't happen.
ALSO, the fucking little hooty sticking out of his eye had me going in so many ways, because like, does it mean that Hooty's species are just particularly connected to the titan? or are worms just fucking Hooty's in the Boiling Isles??? Maybe, it's even a hint of where Hooty came from, because well there IS an eye on the Boiling Isles too! like oh my god so much in so little
- "and you seems like a good witch" i saw someone mention how Luz called herself 'the good witch luz' later on, and i'll see myself in a bit no doubt as i'm watching, BUT This is definitely a moment that sticks out to her. The titan himself is calling her a good witch, after everything she's done, that he's watched her do, he thinks she's a good witch
- ALSO, a thought i had, is how much i love that they show the Titan is just, just this guy He's got a dad bod with a billy, his beard's unkept, he's wearing a Bad Girl coven t-shirt and jogging pants with a glyph pattern, AND I BET HE WOULD BE WEARING LOAFERS. Like the Titans have been propped up so much through the series, because well the Titan is a big deal.
But also, the Titans are a people who loved their kids, wanted them safe, and lounged around in old shirts and loose pants
- THE COLLECTOR FUCKING, "I don't want anyone else to go away, I don't want anyone else to go missing" and him desperately trying to stop King and Eda and brushing off the, the growth from Belos, like oh my god he really is just a child learning about loss for the first time proper, like ever
also a headcanon i am having like right now, is that the Archivists definitely did take some of titan children away, either on purpose to paint the Collector in a bad light, or simply because they wanted, either option ending in the Collector being painted in a bad light and like they just didn't care about who they hurt. Because i bet he wasn't sat down and talked to about it, it actually does make sense if he never killed any of them and they just were taken and he was the scape goat, and i just realized that thee titan mentioned he blamed the wrong person, and at that point Belos would've been SOOO far into the future it couldn't have been him he meant.
Definitely, King's siblings are archived somewhere, and the Collector was blamed for it and no one talked to him about it
- the collector rushing to help keep the Archives balanced, their body being overtaken by Growth, but he still does it because he knows it's the right thing to do and just, FUCK ME DUDE, I love him, them, little funky fella who was neglected and never taught how to play, his siblings just pushing him away because they didn't care, or maybe even used them to get the titan babies, finally realizes what it means to be kind, and good, and what to do to make friends, and does something that does not benefit him in any way instead of trying to save himself
like fuck dude I love them so much
- RAINE, WHISTLING, THE REQUIEM/RHAPSODY, MY FUCKING HEART DUDE
- The way the "NOW EAT THIS SUCKAAA" line is animated, gives me hella anime vibes, like modern day anime, Studio Trigger type stuff, fuck me it's so good
- Eda, king and Raine getting to stomp out Belos like the piece of gum he is, is so cathartic. After everything he's done, he just gets stomped out like he's nothing
- The fact that Amity so happily goes to her dad, and Odalia is just, there, and she gets nothing??? Iconic, amazing, what she deserves. I also love that Gus' dad gets to kiss his cheek, like i feel you don't get to see that enough in shows. And of course, Willow's dad's kissing on screen, ON THE LIPS IN FULL VIEW And Hunter being greeted so warmly by Darius and Eberwolfe, my heart, i care them
and there's just too much i adore about the timeskip like,,, all of it, amazing
The Whisperer: Part 4 (Wally Clark Fic)
A/N: so the slashes will be what the spirits are writing in the note and the little squiggles are Morrigan’s responses. Also each ghost that asked a question had their own paragraph to make the reading easier. Much love ❤️
“See cherry pop I told you she would be back.” Oh good lord they’re all here. Fantastic they must have followed Dawn to my locker and not being idiots they put two and two together that this was my personal space that they could invade. Dawn did look a bit sheepish so I’m guessing they did more than follow her, I have a feeling she implied they should come with her.
“Dawn. Is there a specific reason that the ghosties are surround long my locker?” I knew I sounded like an exasperated parent talking to their child but it was literally only 7:30 in the morning…on a Monday. Which meant I had five days that I had to make it through without having a major migraine. For the most part the other spirits had left me alone, Dawn talked to everyone so the simple fact that she seemed so interested in me was nothing of major concern to them.
“Cherry pop here says you stared right at her when you first came into school, and that you tried to ignore her. We can’t even indirectly tell interact with the students, Dawn thought it was maybe just her so she tried talking to a few but nothing happened.” Rhonda shrugged and for the first time I’m guessing in forever she threw the lollipop that she was abusing with her tongue in the trash and turned back to me. “So why want to know why you’re the only one who can, and Dawn here has some kind of profound since of loyalty to you so I’m sure it you did tell her and told her not to tell us she wouldn’t.” Lovely it was like having my own little ghost puppy. It could be worse. It could be Rhonda, is there a place you can surrender spirits that you don’t want? Connor’s words echoed in the back of my mind and I quickly pushed that thought away as fast as it had surfaced.
I opened my locker and shoved my homework from the weekend and lunchbox in before grabbing periods 1-3 supplies and cramming them in my bookbag. “Look I’ve already told you I guess I’m just fucking special I don’t know okay. All I know is for some reason you can see and talk to me and I can see and talk to you. I can even hold your hand and stuff too just like I would a human.”
“So you can have sex with a ghost.” Everyone’s head turned to stare at Jock and he very quickly looked away. “I WAS JUST STATING WHAT WE WERE ALL THINKING!” we all cringed and I’m fairly certain I lost hearing in the ear closest to his air horn style mouth.
“Jesus Christ man you don’t have to yell we’re not on mars. Also I don’t know because I haven’t tried but in theory yes I probably could.” I started walking towards first period, why the hell were they still walking with me? “Guys I get you’re lonely and you’re excited about this but we can’t talk in the classroom like we can my locker. People are definitely going to notice a girl talking to herself in a quiet classroom as opposed to the fucking chaos in the hallway.” Dawn just shrugged and walked on in, of course she was probably content staring at the lights or something and wouldn’t try to carry on a conversation.
“What about notes? We could sit in the class and write notes on a piece of paper back and forth.” That was the first time puppy had said anything and it wasn’t a bad idea, and he just like Dawn was far too adorable to say no to.
“That’s not a bad idea, however I am going to be late if we don’t get in the door in the next thirty seconds so.” Jock and puppy shoved each other trying to get through the door first while Rhonda hung back unsure if she was invited to this little come to Jesus meeting as well. “That includes you too little demon.” She smiled and I offered a small one back before walking in behind her.
I pulled a piece of notebook paper out and Rhonda was the first one to grab it and start scribbling something else on it. /can you see all spirits or just ones at the schools you’ve been to?/ fair enough question I suppose. ~I can see all spirits I just try to ignore them, this school has the most spirits I’ve ever seen~ Both Charly and Wally read over Rhonda’s shoulder and Charly pulled the pencil and paper away quickly exclaiming that it was HIS turn to ask a question.
/Does your family know you can talk to spirits? Do they talk to spirits? If they don’t do they ask you to talk for them?/ Well ouch Charly you didn’t have to accidentally hit me where it hurts, but the way he looked so excited about it I couldn’t give him a crude answer. ~All of my family knows, only my oldest brother and sister believe me though. Everyone else thinks I’m crazy. Obviously because I said everyone thinks I’m crazy no one else can talk to them. My brother will sometimes ask me if someone we know that is dead is around but that’s about it.~ Charly read it and seem satisfied, maybe he was trying to see if he would be able to somehow let his family know he was still around without asking me to tell them which would in fact make me sound crazy.
/Why can no one else in your family see or talk to spirits? I feel like that would be a genetic thing./ Damn it Wally I was expecting you to be the least observant of the group not the one who picked up on that. ~Genetic flaw I guess, I know I’m pretty great but we all have to have flaws no matter how great people think we are.~ He smiled at that one and Rhonda rolled her eyes before crumpling the paper up and tossing it in the trash.
“3 points!” I wasn’t expecting Wally’s sudden outburst and leapt about 5 feet out of my chair and had everyone staring at me like I had seen a ghost. Which I guess technically I had. “Oh shit sorry Mori I didn’t mean to startle you.” He came over and rubbed my hand and ignored the weird tingle that traveled up my spine when he did.
“yeah yeah just go haunt the halls or something guys I gotta learn. I know you all don’t because you’re dead and you’ve heard these lessons a hundred times but I have not.” Wally and Charly both stuck their tongues out at me before leaving the class with Rhonda once again trailing behind.
“So are we just going to pretend that Wally comforting you didn’t give you goosebumps?” I scowled at her as she smirked and laughed before standing up before going to follow the boys. “I’m sure that’s what you’ll be thinking about in the shower tonight.”
Fucking. Cunt. Waffle.
But she was absolutely right and I am now absolutely fucked all because a pretty football ghost asked if ghosts could have sex with humans and he gave me the bare minimum of skin to skin contact.
Well fuck me.
June Reads
When You Left Me Speechless by Jess Christine (9/10) I loved this book so much. Most ARC reads are good enough, but they don’t make me feel anything. But this one was so cute. Not only did I enjoy it because it made me realize what I wanted in life, I loved Poppy and Logan’s story as well. Poppy is independent and wants to focus on school, so I kind of see myself through her. Logan’s a teacher, and the whole profession makes me swoon. The thing I didn’t love about the book is the FWB aspect, but other than that, I loved how patient Logan is with her. Poppy was mostly the iffy one in the relationship, but her concerns are valid. And she had a past where she let a man stand in the way of her future/education so she’s valid. The FWB aspect was unnecessary in my opinion because I feel like they were so enamoured with each other before that. The conflict in this one was stupid, but parents do unruly things for their children so I get it. I loved this one.
Our Secret Game by Janisha Boswell (7.3/10) This book wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. The characters (found family) interacting with one another bothered me because how are you acting like this in your twenties but like I’m here for the romance which is there. Nora, which is a stupid name like how are you going to tell me this is a young adult? You can’t. Anyways, is trying to get over her ex for months, which is understandable, but like six months? Insanity like she’s still so mad like please have some maturity. Maybe it’s because I’ve never been led on or cheated on or anything? So she fake dates her best friend, who she has always thought was annoying which didn’t make sense to me. How are you claiming he’s your best friend when you act so much better/different with your girlfriends? He, Wes, is not your best friend!! Do not lie to me. But also, the girls are such bad friends like Cat is so engrossed with her bf like I get you had your book and moment, but your friend needs you???? And Elle or whatever the fuck her name is left Nora with her ex when it was clear she, Nora, was uncomfy??? Like i don’t care if u are uncomfy. If you guys are as good as friends as you claim, don’t leave her in moments of stress? Nora and Wes fake date, but it’s to Wes’s benefit because he’s always been in love with Nora so he is sweet. But also, Wes has STRONG family and individual problems. I don’t think it should’ve been resolved that quickly or a relationship could’ve fixed it. Anyway, I had iffy feelings about Wes. He was sweet and romantic, but also, like you need to grow up and realize you need help. I don’t think they should’ve ended up together. They are cute and stuff, but like Nora only gets with him due to forced proximity and her horniness. Wes deserves her, but he doesn’t need a relationship right now. I do love this was POC written and had an Asian non-MC.
Don't Let Her Stay by Nicola Sanders (6/10) This was an audiobook that I nearly DNF'ed. I wanted something like Freida McFadden bc her books are so easy to digest, but I didn't want to finish all her books so I decided to give mystery/thriller books a chance. I hated this one. It was so slow, and the gaslighting was INSANE. This woman marries a rich man, has a child, moves far in the countryside with him. Then, his daughter from another marriage visits, and weird stuff happens. False, it wasn't weird. It was just a kid fighting for their dad's love or whatever. The kid, Chloe, is 20 and calls her dad "daddy", is nasty to the wife, is creepy to their child or whatever. Everytime the wife tells the husband, he gaslights her as well as the half child or whatever. Anyways so they end up killing the husband because the wife is manipulated into thinking he is why his late wife, Chloe's mom, is dead, but it turns out that it was Chloe all along. I hated the characters so much. This book was honestly a waste of my time.
Her Wicked Plan by Hannah Jo (8/10) I really enjoyed this book. I didn't know if I'd be into it, but the blurb and tropes seemed interesting as an ARC reader. I love Veronica and the insane asylum. I love how much character Veronica had, but Leo on the other hand... he's... something. He was annoying and a little whiny bitch, but when he's with Vee, I suddenly can stand him. Leo is the voice of reason and whatnot but like he's also an overthinker and needs to be a little more professional (or vice versa, but make up your damn mind.) And the spice?! Oh lord. Makes me think unholy things I want to try. The ending definitely fucked me up. Even though it's expected, it still took me by surprise like how was she able to fake it that much? Granted, she is a patient at an asylum and pleaded mental insane, but that freaking hurt as a romance girlie. But could I have liked it if that ending didn't happen and they got their HEA?
Wrecked by Lauren Asher (7/10) This has been the best one so far out of her Dirty Air series, but the tension is so immediate and the same, it's repetitive. Like I don't feel anything at all. I've come to the realization that F1 is a hot sport, but the way it's written makes you expect it to be a hot sport and them as celebrities. Maybe because she also admitted Lewis Hamilton, a real life F1 driver, was Jax. It's weird, but I mean besides the look, it shouldn't be like him. Unless it is then it's weird. Elena surprisingly had a very heavy and dark background for being a sunny character. Jax did as well, and to find out he has the disease just killed me like this man is going through it. I also hated the way Lauren wrote about his anxiety and then it's just forgotten. Overall, the better book out of the other two with heavy characters, but some parts bored me so much.
Overtime by Mari Loyal (9.5/10) I actually really liked this one. I thought I liked the first one, but this one felt so much better. Maybe because it seemed like the perfect book for someone who I read growing up (since the first book was 5/6 years ago and Aran, the MMC, grew up.) The tension and angst made me giggle so much, and the FMC was such a cutie pie who struggled to love herself because she surrounded herself with people who didn't love her for herself. She's also an author so that made me love her so much more. The way this book was a clean romance/closed door one, but it had me giggling and kicking my feet so much. I also loved the fact that more hockey is on page in this one. Like are you just writing about it because it's hot or because you know it? I love tutor x jock trope so this was definitely right up my aisle. I'm so proud of Mari Loyal.
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelidas (7.5/10) I throughly enjoyed this audiobook. It was long and out of my comfort zone, yes. But I did love how detailed the author goes into psychotherapy and just the therapy aspect of it. Long story short, Alicia shoots her husband, Gabriel, and is placed in an insane asylum instead of jail because she goes silent. Theo wants to figure out why so he works as her therapist. I thought it was super weird how invested Theo was to Alicia's story at first like I know it's like a celebrity death/murder in a small town, but this dude was too obsessed like let it go!!! To find out he's behind why she killed her husband like that made so much sense. But the fact that he tried to drug her after he got her to talk again. I'm so fucking confused. Anyways, it was a good book, but I'm not too keen on the genre.
The Reluctant Roommate by Angela Casella (6.8/10) It wasn't horrible, but I didn't have a fun time reading it. I just got so bored reading it and it felt so long for no reason whatsoever. I got this for free during a SYK event, and when reading the tropes, I was interested, but it's part of a series. Technically it's a standalone, yes, but I believe the best way to read it is in order to feel the character development and to grow an attachment to them. Literally they were just characters on a piece of paper for me, and like the characters had zero chemistry. Like how are you going to tell me that he's been in love with her since he was six because he brings her a cup of water??? I love the FMC's sassiness, but in this case, it made her extremely childish because again, the author expects you to know her personality and doesn't explain it well in this book. Don't even get me started on the fairy godparents aka the PI investigators. Who the FUCK do they think they are? Like this bitch Nicole does some good or at least helps her out and expects her, the FMC, and literally everyone else to bow at her feet. She was so infuriating. Idk, this book was just not for me.
Again, no one in THEIR RIGHT MIND would say that about any group of people. Those people who said that to you were obviously not in their right mind, and do not know how to appropriately discuss this topic.
I want you to tell me why you think it started on October seventh when there have been over 5,000 Palestinians killed since 2007 before October seventh.
Israel has always been shooting missiles at Gaza since they colonized Palestine, but on October seventh after Hama’s attack, they went batshit and started bombing everything they could.
There is plenty of evidence of IDF soldiers intentionally targeting civilians. They snipe shoot children and elderly people for sport. I’ve seen many posts from IDF soldiers and Zionists celebrating the deaths of civilians.
Incitement of genocide: Biden has been funding the IDF’s bombings from the start, and talking about how Israel needs to finish off the Palestinians.
If it was truly about Hamas, Israel would be bombing Hamas bases (which are NOT on the West Bank) instead of bombing hospitals full of injured people and babies.
Tell me, if the rolls were reversed, and the Palestinian forces bombed an Israeli hospital because they suspected that MAYBE a bad guy was hiding there, would you have the same energy you are currently showing me?
People aren’t shitting on Zionists and Israel because they’re Jewish. It has nothing to do with your religion or background. However; it DOES have a LOT to do with how Israel and Zionists are openly supporting the genocide of the Palestinians and are openly violent towards Muslims.
If you truly think that Israel does not have the intent to kill all Palestinians, but constantly hear from Zionists about how they want all Arabs dead, then I am truly concerned for who in the hell is teaching you this stuff.
I heavily appreciate that you recognize Netanyahu is a shitass, but you are still heavily unaware of the full extent of what is happening.
If you have humanity, I must ask you to look through the #free Palestine tag, and tell me what you see. Do you see people posting about killing Jews? Do you see them saying Zionists need to die?
I have went through Pro Israel tags many times, and they all consist of celebrations of people dying, they consist of people calling all Arabs terrorists, you see them spreading outlandish lies.
I want you to look at both of those tags and compare and contrast the behaviors you see from the people posting.
Personally, in other conversations I’ve had with Zionists about this, they approached me aggressively, resorted to name calling, did not site sources, and gave me empty statements.
So I want you to do what they taught us to do in elementary school: try to see it from the other side’s point of view. Look at what is happening, tell me how you would feel if it was happening to you.
When I put myself into the shoes of Israelis and Zionists, this is what I see you feel:
- you are afraid of a repeat of the holocaust,
- you are scared that the world will turn its back on you again
- you want to keep your state so that Jews can have a safe place to live and be together
- you are closed minded, and refuse to even look at what’s happening to the Palestinians.
- you have a lot of anger, which stems from the fears listed above.
So I want you to go to the pro Palestine tags and tell me what you see, and list the emotions you see people feeling. List the kind of videos you see of people being pulled from under the rubble, tell me, do you think a video of a child taking its last breaths is fake?
I appreciate you being civil with me in this conversation.
If anyone ever asks me why I choose wholeheartedly to support Palestine over Israel, even if I might not know all the facts, even if Hamas might be the big villains everyone says they are, I will tell them;
It is not a “war” if one side has beds, food, clean water, and luxuries like cake and tv, while the other side starves and dies from inaccessibility to live saving medicine.
It is not a “conflict” if one side can laugh and smile and have fun making signs, while the other side lives in fear, knowing that any day they might die.
It is nothing but a genocide, because Israel has a constant influx of weapons and resources, while Gazans (even Hamas) have a slowly draining pool of broken and bad quality resources.
It is only a war, if both sides can fight, it is only a conflict, if both sides are struggling.
The October night was cold and busy, trick or treaters scattered around the neighborhood wearing various kinds of costumes. Most of them were children with their family, some were teenagers, and others were adults going to parties. Police were in some places, watching and making sure everything was alright and no one was in trouble. The night was fun and happy, as usual. Nothing really bad happened in this neighborhood, it seemed. There hasn't been a murder, or attempted murder, in over fifty years, which was good.
The edge of the forest was full of life as a party was taking place. It was rather large as a family was hosting it; they invited friends and some brought their family and pets. There were many different games and the family that was hosting the party made sure that it was child friendly, as many children were there. At a table, a group of young adults from college were sitting and eating and drinking as they chatted. They were all in costumes and looked as happy as can be, a few on their phones.
"Hey guys." a tall girl their age wearing a pirate costume with a few objects in her hands walked to the table, a concerned expression on her face.
"Oh, hey Leana. You and (Y/N) enjoying the party?" A guy with freckles asked as he tapped his Ghost face mask on the table.
"Yeah, that's the thing, Jarred. I haven't been able to find them. Have, uh, have any of you seen them?"
"No." Jarred replied as he frowned.
"Do you know where they might have been?" Another guy with a Scream costume asked. Him and the other one were probably going as Billy and Stu from the famous slasher movie.
"They said they were going to go get their cousin Annie who wandered into the forest. Annie came back, but (Y/N) didn't."
"Maybe they're just lost or taking pictures of the forest?" A girl dressed as a cat hypothesizes as she fixed her cat ears.
"I-I don't know." Leana sounded worried and showed something that was in her hand. "The thing is... I found their phone and it now has a crack in it."
"What in the?" Another girl who was dressed as a clown looked at the phone. "I- Did you look for them?"
"Yes, yes I did but couldn't find anything else but their cane, lantern and mask. But I left those where I found them."
"Did you tell their parents about this?" Jarred looked at your cracked phone, and took his mask, and clutched in tightly.
"No. But I was hoping you all could go get the police while I tell their parents."
"Of course we will!" the cat girl shot up, "Right guys?" she looked towards everyone else at the table who nodded.
"Yeah, (Y/N) might be in some trouble." the second guy with the Ghost face mask shot up as well. "And I'll come with you to tell their parents."
"Thanks Xander." Leana started to look even more worried and concerned for you.
"Me, Brittney, and Saffron will go get the cops, while you and Xander will go tell (Y/N)'s parents about their disappearance.
Everyone nodded and left to go do what they were told.
---
You ran as fast as you could through the forest, careful not to trip over your dress. This Halloween, you custom made your own plague doctor costume with your close friend Leana. You had a full on mask, hat, and clothing, along with a lantern and cane, but you lost those with your phone. Your four year old cousin Annie wandered into the forest and you went to fetch her and bring her back. When she was safe you went to retrieve your cane and lantern (and mask), which you dropped when you noticed Annie was gone.
But, before you could get those, a gloved hand, cold and tasted like dirtied leather, was put roughly against your mouth. You screamed and scratched at the arm that pulled you away from the scene, but it was no use. No amount of screaming or moving around would let your capture let go of you, even if you did hit him, it had no effect. Finally, when the two of you were deep enough in the forest, your capture roughly tossed you on the grassed ground.
The fear when you looked up at the man who was now chasing you was nearly indescribable. The man had to be at least six foot and four inches, his dark hair disheveled with pale skin, and clean looking orange goggles over his eyes. He had on a dark colored coat with dark pants and a pair of sneakers; a belt was around his hips with two hatchets attached, the metal part gleaming in the moonlight. That was scary, the hatchets, but possibly the most terrifying thing about him was probably his face. On his left cheek, there seemed to be a large open gap; it showed his pink flesh and gums and his teeth.
You've seen photos and heard about a guy who had some sort of piercing in his face, showing off his teeth. You thought that was cool, a little strange, but cool. But this man, this man was not doing that. The open wound did look healed, but it was obviously a wound that was left by some sort of accident, or the man did that to himself. He quietly looked down at you, shivering and crying, and you just looked at him, too scared to get up and run.
"Not runnin', huh?" He asked you.
Hearing his deep voice made you gulp, and you swore he had some sort of accent. German, maybe. After a few seconds he reached down to a hatchet and you gasped. You got up hastily and started to run. You knew that this wasn't the way back to the party, but you ran anyways, not wanting to risk running around him. You looked behind you and saw that he was chasing after you, making you run even faster.
Toby chuckled and gripped his hatchet harshly in his hand. He thought it was funny that you thought you were getting out of this forest and live your life. Of course, he had strict instructions from his Master to kill you. You were doing a report of people who went missing in this forest around fifty years ago for school, and the survivors talked about a Slender Man who nearly killed them. You were getting close to knowing the truth, weird as the news reports were all destroyed. How did you get access to them? To Toby, The Slender Man was known as The Operator, his boss and the eldritch-like creature who would torture him if he didn't kill you.
Toby raised his hatchet, getting ready to toss it at you. He looked around at your body for a perfect place to strike you with it.... a couple seconds passed.... and a few more... and then he tossed it! The hatchet flew over to you and hit you in the back. You screamed in pain and fell over, tears falling down your face as you sobbed. You couldn't get up and the hatchet was lodged in your back, up a bit, and it definitely cut through your clothing. Warm blood seeped out from the wound and began to stain your clothing. You shook and Toby walked over to you; he took the old hatchet's handle and put a foot on your back, and then pulled the hatchet out, blood pouring out of the wound like a waterfall.
You screamed louder at the pain, and gripped the grass in your gloved hands. You bit your lip as you tasted your salty tears and tried to fight the pain. Maybe you would get out alive somehow? No. You were going to die. You were going to die alone in this forest by the hands of a fucking maniac and your body was most likely never going to be found. Your friends would be devastated at your loss and the town would most likely go into a panic as a crime like this wasn't committed since the early seventies.
Toby leaned down and took your shoulder in his iron grip and turned you over. You held in a scream from this; your back was bleeding, your spine most likely severely damaged, and it was touching the gross ground of the forest. Toby stomped a foot on your chest and you closed your eyes, whimpered, and gripped the grass so hard that under your gloves, your hands were probably going white.
This is it, you thought, shaking and biting your lip so hard that it started to bleed, I'm going to die in the hand of this asshole. Fuck.
Toby smiled down at you, your eyes closed and blood running down your mouth to your chin and to your neck. He raised his hatchet, and like an executioner, swung it, almost decapitating you. Your head was still on your shoulders, but it was almost off. You were still aware of what was happening. Crying harder, you tried to take a breath, but started to choke at the blood. Toby groaned and raised the hatchet and cut your head off completely.
He watched as the blood pooled around you and squirted out from your neck. You opened your eyes and looked around. What the hell. Weren't you just decapitated? Wait.... You have heard of people's heads, like Ann Boleyn, being conscious for about 4-30 seconds after being separated from the body. Your head, still half conscious, looked up at the sky and the man who did this to you loomed down, a devilish smile on his face. You frowned and tried to speak, but your eyes lidded and you started to black out.
You were dead.
Toby was told by the Operator to leave your body where it was after killing you, so he didn't do anything. He put his hatchet back where it was and looked at your body. It was too bad you died. You were young and quite the attractive person in his eyes. But oh well, he had orders to do.
Toby cracked his neck and walked away, leaving his work to rot.
The next day, a whole entire search party went out looking for you. Your friends were part of it and everyone was quite shaken up when they didn't find you. The search lasted a few months until you were found by a police officer, who almost threw up at the sight of you. You were in the same position, but bugs flew around your decomposing corpse and you had worms and maggots in your neck. When the town found out you were dead, your prediction was right. Everyone panicked.
Your family and friends held a funeral for you and had you cremated. Your body was far too decomposed to be in a casket or coffin. People thought that you being dead was connected to the mysterious murders and missing people fifty years earlier while other thought that your murder was just some sick bastard. The whole town mourned you, as you were quite popular, and they all said "They're in Heaven, flying with angels."
Little did they know that you weren't in Heaven, nor were you in Hell. You became a ghost. A headless ghost. You wander the forest, lost and scared, your head under your arm as you walk. You never saw anyone else besides the cop who found your body at your death place, so you became lonely. You were dead, angry, scared, and lost.
You knew you couldn't escape this monster named Toby the moment you laid eyes on him.
