Truly I need to stop letting myself get so stressed out about training this new person because it ultimately won't be my problem, but also, I can't stop worrying about his performance reflecting my training skills.

#in anticipation of the incoming remake#i tried my best to imitate the SH font but#silent hill#silent hill 2#angela#angela orosco#theme of laura (reprise)#i've said it before but in spite of its occasionally clunky diction i think silent hill 2 is an unusually emotionally intelligent game#for any year and still today but especially so for where gaming storytelling was in 2001#and for as many pitfalls a story like hers could've dipped into i think it particularly shines through with how they treated angela#not just choosing to depict victimhood as something that can be ugly and fractious and open quote ādifficultā but then this#actively rebuffing james for trying to be a white knight and dressing him down for it too#āi know you mean well and want to help but this isn't a simple problem"#āand it's really hurtful and a bit insulting that you act like you canā#the switching to a first person view turning it into an address to the player as well#maybe even old videogame tropes too#āthis isn't some princess in a castle kind of situation dude this is more serious than thatā#it felt like a very deliberate statement about the depth and severity of a trauma like this#and in doing so showing it so much respect#then angela just leaves#and you never see her again#i really don't think it was to imply that it consumed her i think it was to underline what was just said#this isn't your problem to fix#this is where your part in this story ends#there's some strength in that

I agree people seem to be getting too unrealistic with their ideas of āCurly couldāve done moreā But I hate seeing āwhat was he supposed to do?ā cause like- Stay with Anya(physically and metaphorically). Donāt run away from her and leave her alone to āfixā things(sheās pregnant, sheās been raped there is no changing that) by talking with Jimmy.
Literally in my opinion all Curly really had to do to show he cared was stay there with her. Comfort her. Donāt say you can fix it, donāt say you can Fix Jimmy. Donāt say you can fix this situation and imply it can be made right, donāt imply you can make Jimmy better.
Of course there were other things he could do. He could apologize for not noticing sooner. He could give her something else to use as a weapon(hell a fucking PEN can be used as a weapon).
People saying thereās not much he could do are right, but Curly didnāt believe that. Even though he seemed to believe Anya he still tried to reconcile it with his view of Jimmy and believed he could do something.
If heād stayed he couldāve calmed and comforted Anya, then talked with her. They couldāve made a plan together to try to avoid Jimmy finding out. Alllll he had to do was stay instead of running off to find his best friend.

I think any fix-it mouthwashing au has to have the mandatory scenes of Curly either being able to blink again or speaking for the first time.
#like metaphorical nature aside can you like fathom the relief in being able to hear your voice again? or like blink your eye even if manualy#how many times to you think the phantom actions triggers only for nothing to happen to be asked something and it catch in his throat from h#his torn vocal cords probably from how loud and hard he was screaming in agony#or the feeling of having to cry with tears and the instinct to blink them away like those little relief would make him break down#also just like I want the fix it au to have a scene of Anya feeling truly safe and content with nothign in the back of her mind#like I like playing with the struggles and angst but really just have her subtly realize shes fine alone or with one of them I dont care#shes like reading and someone unintentionally sneaks up on her but she doesnt jump or she wakes up and its not the first thought in her min#or maybe just her realizing she can finally push it away maybe someone not recognizing her or Curly from the incident and realizing it wont#define her forever and she'll move past it like please let them be happy have them meet Daisuke's family who pointedly dont ask#or Swansea appriciating his kids in a way Daisukes didn't appiciate their useful ray of sunshine like LET THEM SMILE#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#captain curly#curly mouthwashing
