That sounds really cool! I looked at your fic blog and- omg they both sound so cool! Especially the Fallout one- I'm getting back into that hyperfixation myself- I'll have to read that on ao3 when I get the chance!
So, two more questions! 1, for Eye of the Storm, what do you find most fun to write about it? Why do you think it's sticking in your head at the moment? And 2, for the Fallout fic, can you tell me a bit about your Nora?
aw, thank you! i only have one chapter of wbotb up at the moment--but i promise more is coming! it's just coming slowly lol.
as for your questions:
the most fun thing about eots is that i've loved all the characters in it since i was a little kid. it's really fun to, as an adult with life experience, flesh them out so they feel like real people. they're very dear to me. as for why it's sticking in my head right now--i'm unsure! i don't control these sorts of things haha. i am working on polishing off another pokemon fic though (a oneshot set in oras continuity) and i've been buckling down on that, so perhaps that's the reason?
oh, nora. i could say a lot about her... as far as backstory goes, she's mixed indigenous (potawatomi/french to be specific) and the oldest of two sisters. she moved to boston from arizona when she was 18 and met her husband, dana, while she was working in a diner he was studying at. they were together for about 9 years before the start of the game and shaun's birth. as for personality, she tries to be a kind and diplomatic person while struggling with a lot of her own issues (including ptsd and adult-diagnosed adhd), and of course the nuclear war that destroyed the world she knew. she struggles to adjust to the new world a bit, and that's something i wanted to explore in the fic, as well as the more emotional implications of fallout 4's main story that we don't actually touch on in game. i've said this before somewhere, but fallout's main quest to me is a tragedy and i wanted to give the central character of it (the protagonist) the space to deal with that in a way i think they deserve.

Ted Lasso please? Can be a funny or an angsty part. Either works. Thank you
---------------------------------------------------
Jaune: Oh, darts! Mind if I play?
Jacques: By all means, Mr. Arc.
Jaune: (Tosses a dart) Hey! I got it on the board!
Jacques: Hm. Do you... like darts, Mr. Arc?
Jaune: Well, (Tosses another dart) I'm more of a horseshoe guy, to be honest.
Jacques: Well, what say we make this game interesting? Put a wager on it? Say... 10,000 Lien? (Crowd murmurs)
Ruby: Whoa...
Yang: Uh oh...
Nora: Do it, Jaune!
Ren: Nora, please...
Jaune: Uh, I could write you a check, but it'd probably bounce more than a horshoe would. (Everyone chuckles) How about, instead, if you win, you get to decide who can and cannot work for your company for six months, regardless of their background.
Blake: (Eyes widen) Jaune! What are you doing?!
Jaune: But if I win, you step down as the CEO of the SDC. Unless, of course, Willow can't make it to the meetings and she didn't have a stand-in. (Crowd gasps)
Willow: Jaune!
Jaune: Hm?
Willow: As your friend put so succinctly, what in the hell are you doing?!
Jaune: I think it's called being a White Knight, but to be honest, I don't really know what I'm doing.
Willow: Jaune, this is insane! He's a-
Jacques: I accept your wager, Mr. Arc. But you should know, (Pulls out box of darts) darts are a hobby if mine.
Jaune: Ooh! Those look neat! Well, I guess we have a game. (Scratches his cheek) But it's been a while since I played, so let me know if I'm winning or losing.
Jacques: Of course. Throw your last dart, and we can begin.
Jaune: Okay! (Winds up, Stops) Oh, uh, if you don't could I use my other arm? This one is kind of tensing up.
Jacques: It makes no difference to me.
Jaune: Oh, thank you, because it does to me. (Tosses dart, Crowd gasps as it Double Bulls) See, I'm actually left-handed. (Tosses another, Laughs) This is gonna be fun!
---------------------------------------------------
Weiss: Jacques Schnee is at one-hundred and eighty points.
Whitely: Show him his superior, Father!
Willow: Don't say such stupid words if you don't understand their meaning, Whitely.
Jacques: (Smirks) Perhaps I should mail the pink slips now? After all, there is a key difference between a politician in power and boy pretending to be a man.
Nora: That's what I said!
Ren: No, it isn't.
Jacques: But it's not all Mr. Arc's fault. Perhaps the blame should be placed on Willow's, who sought to hire him and his friends in the first place. I knew my ex-wife was willing to whore herself to the first man she met, but it surprises me she would fuck the entire company. (Crowd gasps and murmurs)
Jaune: Hey now! (Chuckles) Let's keep it civil now. (Looks at the score)
Schnee - 1
Arc - 170
Jaune: Hm... Mr. Sieben? What do I need to win?
Klein: Two triple twenties and a bullseye, sir.
Jaune: (Nods) That's going to be tough. (Smiles) But I can do it.
Jacques: Well, you are certainly free to try. (Raises a glass to him)
Jaune: (Sighs) You know, Jacques, I don't know what it is about me, but people have always underestimated me. I have been underestimated me in Atlas. In Mistral. Beacon. Even my own family underestimated me back home, too, and for years I couldn't understand why. But then it hit me one day. Pyrrha used to tell me, "better curious than judgy," and I have to say... I like that quote. (Tosses dart, Triple twenty)
Ruby: Oh!
Yang: Wow!
Blake: (Gulps)
Jaune: So I was rewatching her old training videos, and I realized that everyone has been judging me this entire time. Even Pyrrha for a time. She says it's her one regret since she met me. And now I understand that what would have helped in all those times was if someone, like Pyrrha, was just curious enough to ask me questions. But nobody did. They just judged me, and who I am has nothing to do with me being underestimated. Nobody ever stopped to ask me, "Why I like dinosaur chicken nuggets?" or "Why I chose to become a huntsman?" or "Have you ever played darts before?" (Tosses dart, Triple Twenty)
Ren: OH!
Nora: Ren, please!
Willow: (Watches Jaune intensely)
Jaune: Because if they did, I would have answered all those questions. I like them because it's fun to pretend you're cutting off dinosaur tails. I wanted to prove myself as something to be proud of. (Smiles, Looks at his dart) And yes, sir, I have played darts. Before I left for Beacon, I played my last game with my father, who spent every Sunday before, for the last ten years, in the bar with me, teaching me how to play darts. (Exhales) Bullseyes. (Tosses, Bullseye)
Weiss: YES!
Ruby: WHOO!
Ren: He did it!
Nora: THE ABSOLUTE MAD LAD!
Blake: (Exhales heavily)
Yang: (Laughs, Pats Yang's back)
Jaune: Good game, Jacques!
Jacques: (Huffs) Enjoy the rest of your evening. (Walks out)
Willow: ...Holy shit, that was amazing!
Whitely: Mother, please!
Jaune: Hey, Whitely? (Holds out a dart) Have you ever played?
Whitely: I... I haven't, no.
Jaune: You want to? I can teach you.
Whitely: I... I would like that.
Jaune: Oh, but first, one thing I need to ask your mother. (Leans over, Whispers)
Willow: ...Do I have to? (Jaune nods, Sighs) Very well. WHO WANTS PIZZA?! (Everyone cheers)

here guys. This reaction was done @bssaz97 again. And that's it for the author's note.
"I miss baby Zwei!" Weiss sulked.
"We know Weiss, you've been saying that for the past ten minutes," Blake's vein appeared on her head.
"Why can't we see more of him! He was so cute and innocent!" Weiss crosses her arms and huffs..
"He spent the entire time antagonizing me!" Jaune replied.
"He can never do wrong." Weiss cemented in her mind.
"Forget it VB, she's a lost cause." Yang told her fellow blonde.
"Well let's see what this next viewing has in store for us all." Ren calmly stated.
The screen shows Jaune on Planet Namek facepalming.
"Urgh, what was that idiot DOING bringing me here!" He mutters before turning to look around his eyes widening. "It's... Wait a minute, I can feel it... This is my home! I can finally see its beauty! The lush blue fields, the crystal clear waters, the wind brushing past my... GOD, THIS IS BORING!" He yelled out before groaning. "No wonder I feel at home."
"We're back to Namek!" Ruby shouted in excitement.
"And there's alien Jaune-Jaune!" Nora jumped in.
"Wait isn't this the world where Cinder is supposed to be really powerful?" Jaune asked.
"...oh crud/shit." Many of the original audience replied. Those who were new to the theater didn't exactly understand what they meant but supposed they would eventually see why.
The scene cuts to Cinder confronting Mercury, Oscar, Neptune, and Trifa
"Oh hell yeah! Emerald wake up, we're back in the world where I'm a badass prince!" Mercury says as he shakes her shoulder.
Emerald loudly snores.
"Hey! You said to wake you when 'the snooze fest' was over."
"Not… interested." Emerald conveniently snored.
"Emerald, you will watch this viewing." Cinder orders.
"Yes Cinder!" Emerald miraculously much more awake.
"Wooow." Mercury drawls, shaking his head in genuine disappointment.
"Shut it!" Emerald hissed.
Cinder smiles coldly at them. "Well, Mercury. You've finally pulled it off. You've managed to dash my hopes entirely. With some help, I see." she turns to look at the rest of the group.
"Quack!"
"Neptune, seriously, not helping!" Oscar said ebowing him.
"I can try."
"I'm very curious. Where exactly are you from?" Cinder asks calmly.
"Don't you snitch!" Nora shouted at the screen.
"We're from rem-" Neptune started before Oscar stopped him.
"Neptune, no!"
"Oh right... Thanks for stopping me, Oscar. 'Cause I can't shut-."
"They're from Remnant." Trifa deadpanned.
"Traitor!" Ruby glared at the girl on the screen. Her anger was shared by many in the audience. Whether good or bad.
Blake was feeling the same amount of betrayal twice after remembering how Trifa was one of Ada-his agents sent to kidnap her in the past.
" Little bow girl, why?!" Neptune shouted out in disbelief.
"Because my name is Trifa."
Nora huffed, "Well maybe your name should little bi-!"
"Nora please." Ren asked his oldest friend and companion to let it go.
"'Sigh.' Fine, but I'm still mad." Nora said.
"Oh good. I'll stop by there on the way home. Pick up some space eggs, some space milk, and BLOW IT THE F**K UP!" Cinder screamed at them before calming here. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm usually far more composed. I'm just a little bit ABSOLUTELY LIVID." She said with barely contained rage.
"Oh, Cinder. Quit being such a bitch. I lost my chance at immortality too and you don't see me crying about it." Mercury said mocking with a smirk.
"Yep. Sucks to suck!" Yang stayed for both Cinder's in the audience and on screen.
"Care to say that to my face." Cinder stood up.
"Whoa now One Eye Cinder. We can't fight here, remember, so I can say whatever I like and there's nothing you can do to stop me." Yang explains with a toothy grin.
Cinder growls, but reluctantly sat back down as she began to curse this theater's damned rules.
"Yes, Mercury. But you see, the difference between us is I'll live long enough to regret it." Cinder charges at Mercury and engages him in battle with a battle cry.
Scene cuts to Jaune flying through the sky
"Hey we were getting to the good part!" Mercury shouted.
"And what part would that exactly be Mercury?" Cinder asked directly.
"The fight scene, what else." He said nonchalantly.
Cinder stared at him for a moment before looking back at the screen. Mercury was one of the few people that she could tolerate back talking to her so she paid it no mind.
"Everything looks the goddamn same on this goddamn planet!" He thinks and sighs before he sees something on the ground. "Wait a minute, a body! SOCIAL ACTIVITY!" Jaune yells as he yells flying down and landing next to a body, which was Hazel. "Please tell me you're not dead!"
Hazel begins to speaks in Namekian/Klingon
"What the hell is he saying?" Coco asked.
"It appears he is attempting to communicate with Mr. Arc's alternate in their native tongue." Ozpin rationalized.
"Do you know what he's saying Jaune?" Velvet asked.
"Velvet, I think Ozpin means-."
Velvet giggles before she starts laughing. Her team along with his shortly after.
Jaune was staring at them confusedly before his eyes widened in realization. He chuckled while rolling his eyes, "Oh haha, very funny Velvet."
Ruby just stared at the exchange expressionless, the joke was funny but for some reason she didn't want to laugh. Weird.
"Ah, crap. I find the only living thing for miles- and he's so broken he can't even talk right."
" I was speaking Namekian, you idiot. Don't you know anything about your own people?" Hazel gasps out, barely holding on to life.
"Well, we're demons, right?" Jaune asks hopefully.
"Eh, more like slug people."
"Ah, dammit! I liked it better when I was a demon."
"And I liked it better when I had proper bladder control. Nobody's perfect."
"Yeah, I've been meaning to ask about that. What happened?"
"Let's just say our world elder's kind of a giant green asshole."
Jaune and many of the other male audience members bowed their heads in silence for loss bestowed on the Namekian people.
"Yeesh! Port's a bit of a dick in this one… or lack thereof," Yang quipped.
"YANG!"
"Too soon?" Yang winced.
"Preachin' to the choir on that one." Jaune agreed, an image of Ozpin showing in his head. "Well, it's been fun, but I have to go DIE again…" He turns to leave.
Jaune mentally groaned as he remembered that in this world his life was the one entwined with Ozpin. Also he no more thrilled about the prospect of seeing his alternate die (again?) in a way that could've been easily avoided.
"Dang Arc, you're a bit sassy in this world, huh?" Coco asked.
"And green with antennas." Velvet whispered to Fox.
"Ahhh," Fox nodded, getting a clue of what the counterpart looked like.
"Wait. I might be able to help you." gasped out Hazel.
"Look, buddy. If you want to add me on MySpace, I switched to Spacebook a while ago." Jaune turns to left again.
"What's MySpace?" Oscar asked.
"Beats me, but it sounds mega old." Yang commented.
Ozpin, Glynda, Qrow and even Winter winced at Yang's unintentional jab at them. All of them who used to own MySpace accounts.
Salem just looked confused at the mention of these names. 'What's a MySpace and Spacebook? Is it a form of communication?' She thought to herself.
"No, no, no, no. Listen. I think I know something that might work out for both of us. I don't wanna die and you seem pretty lonely."
"DESPERA-, I mean, go on."Jaune said, getting yells before switching back to a normal tone.
"There's a special ability our people share. Forbidden, even amongst our most sacred clans."
"And we're just going to abuse it?" Jaune asked
"Oh, maliciously!" Hazel said with a grin.
"Bitchin'! How we do?"
"Well that didn't take much convincing at all." Emerald said, impressed by how quickly it took the dying Hazel to convince Arc to comment on what was probably the Namekians form of the Black Arts.
"Hey Jaune-Jaune needs all the power he can get if he wants to kick Cinder's butt!" Nora shot back. "Yeah!" Ruby echoed Nora's sentiment.
"Well, first you put your hand upon me."
" 'Kay" He places his hand on Hazel's elbow)
"Yes. Like that. Now lower."
"Uh-huh."
"Lower."
"Hmm…"
"Little lower."
"Hmm..".
"Ah! If we had junk, you'd be gay right now." Jaune groans as Hazel smirks at him. "Fusing!"
"Gods Dammit!" Jaune facepalmed. He couldn't believe how his alternate would fall for such an obvious trick…. though to be honest he probably would have fallen for it all the same.
Jaune fuses with Hazel, a bright light blinding the viewers. After it's disappears, Jaune only is there and he looks at his hands in wonder.
"Wow. Unreal. My gosh. This is amazing! I feel INCREDIBLE!" He then begins to chant Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! I can win! I feel great! I-can-do-this! HAAA…"
Hazel's voice from inside is heard inside Jaune's head. "What are you doing?" He asked.
"Nothing." Jaune replies after stammering a bit.
"Really? 'Cause it looked like you were chanting to yourself."
"Are you in my head?" Jaune ask changing the subject.
"Yup. Don't worry; supposedly I should fade away into your subconscious. Sooner or later."
"Is this what it was like for you?" Jaune asked Oscar.
"Pretty much." Oscar deadpanned
"...Wow, that's really weird." Jaune slumped in his chair.
"Yep. Well, you kinda get used to it after a while." Oscar replied.
"Does it?" Jaune asked him seriously.
"...No." Oscar slumped into his chair as well.
'If I could have carried this burden in my original body for all these millennia and spared you, I would have… no one deserves this burden.' Ozpin told himself in his mind. He determined it would fix nothing if he told them that, there was no changing the past.
"Okay. So, what now?"
"By my estimate, this fusion should have given you just enough power to wipe out the bitch who killed our people."
"And?"
"Well, let me put this in terms you'll understand: You can win! You feel great! You-can-do-this!" Hazel said, repeating Jaune's chant.
"Oh, ha-ha!"
"Yeah go Jaune/Fearless Leader!" Ruby and Nora both cheered.
Jaune's face turned beet red, but he did appreciate their show of support.
The scene cuts to Mercury and Cinder in a brawler lock
"Impudent... little…" Cinder hissed. Her scouter shows "F**K THIS I'M OUT" before exploding on her face, Cinder grunting in pain.
"Damn, Mercury must actually be pretty strong to make that device off itself," Yang stated.
"Why do you sound so surprised blondie? Still sore about our match up?" Mercury quipped.
"You are so lucky I can't mop the floor with your face." Yang shot back, her eyes flashing crimson.
Mercury and Cinder both back off, producing a small crater due to their power.
"I'm impressed, Mercury. When did you graduate from pull-ups?" Cinder said mocking.
"About the same time you got off the rag." Mercury fired back.
Cinder smirks a bit. "Cute. But bear no false hopes, Mercury. You're a mere paper tiger in front of a storm. You have no idea what true power I possess."
"It's that you can transform, right?"
"I can transform…" Cinder's face's falls. "Okay, when and how?"
"Guldo told me."
A flashback of a conversation between Mercury and Guldo appears
"So... Did you know that Cinder can transform?" Guldo said.
"Huh. That right?" Mercury said disinterested.
"Yeah. And Burter's gay."
"Really!?" Mercury asked, genuinely surprised
(back to present)
"And then I threw a dog treat at him. True story."
"That's so rude!" said the collective voices of Ruby, Weiss, Velvet, and Fiona.
"Oh cry me a river, I lost my conscience long ago." Mercury replied back.
"Right. But if you are so aware, why do you persist in goading me?" Cinder question raising an eyebrow.
Mercury grinned viciously."Because Cinder. You're not dealing with the average Saiyan warrior anymore. I am a Super Saiyan!"
….
"A what?" Oscar asked.
Cinder rolls her eyes at this apparently hearing this before. "Oh, here we go!"
"That's right, Cinder. I've arisen beyond the limits of a normal Saiyan, and into the realm of legend- the legend that you fear. The legend known throughout the entire universe as the most powerful warrior to ever exist!" Cinder starts speaking faintly at this point alongside him. "I, Prince Mercury, have become a..". Cinder cuts him off
"...Super Saiyan. Blah, blah, blah, blah, I get it. Then you slayed the Jabberwocky and went on to save Narnia." She clearly wasn't taking him seriously.
"Wow! This Super Saiyan sounds awesome!" Yang concluded. Her sister as well as Jaune, Nora, Oscar and Ren. What? He could like things.
"Thanks for the praise Blondie." Mercury said.
"Yeah something tells me your alternate is way too overestimating himself." Emerald stated.
"You're just jealous you're not a Super Saiyan." Mercury shot back, unfazed by her earlier remark. Causing Emerald to roll her eyes.
While the name seemed silly to the more mature members of the audience, they too were intrigued by the tale of this being.
"Go ahead and mock me, Cinder, but I'm not afraid of you. So why don't you doll yourself up and get ready for a night on the town, because I'm about to take you to a ballroom blitz."
"Fine. I'll indulge you, Mr. Super Saiyan. But before I do I have a funny little story I'd like to tell you."
"Funny how?"
"I like to call it, "I killed your dad"."
"...Was that supposed to shock me?" Mercury questioned.
Mercury stares at Cinder blankly. "So "ha-ha" funny."
"You see, thanks to a rogue lower-class warrior, your father caught wind of my plans…"
(flashback to planet Mercury)
A saiyan runs up to What seemed to be Marcus Black
"King Mercury, I have urgent news!"
"Speak, Butarega." King Marcus/Mercury said in a booming tone.
'Wait why does the old bastard have my name? Eh, guess it doesn't matter. Wait, does that make me a junior?!' Mercury thought.
"Well well, looks like I should call you Junior now. Huh?" Emerald comments, her smirk showing she greatly appreciated this new knowledge.
"I'm not a junior!" Mercury yelled.
"What's that? Couldn't hear you Junior!" Yang joins in on the teasing.
"I'm gonna get back at you both. Just you wait." Mercury growled. Hating how the tables have turned on him.
"Bardock has gone absolutely mad, sire!"
Off-screen someone screamed out: "Cinderrrr!"
"What's all the commotion about?" King Marcus/Mercury asked.
"He's been telling everyone that Cinder plans to destroy Mercury!"
"Wait, my son, the planet, or me?"
BUTAREGA looks at the king for a few moments before answering " ...Yes."
King Marcus/Mercury blasts Butarega away.
"Oh my gods!" Ruby cried out.
She and many others in the audience were shocked that the Saiyan King just killed his subordinate so callously. However, both Salem and Cinder were impressed at the King's show of force.
"Freakin' smartass." King Marcus/Mercury mutters and goes look a the Counselor. "Counselor Obleck, what do you think?"
"Let me tell you what you need to do. You need to sit him down…" Oobleck began.
"Uh-huh." King Marcus/Mercury said nodding his head.
"...you look her dead in the eye…"
"Yes."
" ...and you say, "Don't blow up my planet.""
"What? He can't be serious." Winter remarked.
"It appears that this version of Bart is not as wise or tactful as he is in our world." Ozpin rationalized.
Teams RWBY and JNR pressed 'X' to doubt.
"And you think that will work?" King Marcus/Mercury asked.
"she'd have to be aaaaaaawfully evil if it didn't. And I'm not gonna lie, I like the cut of her jib." Oobleck said with a grin.
"All right, but I want you to take my son, the Prince, off-planet just in case things go south."
"Don't worry, sir. You'll do juuuuuust fine."
"Wait. Hold on a damn minute, the old bastard actually cares about someone other than himself? Yeah like that's legit." Mercury crosses his arms.
Some in the audience looked at the silver haired assassin and just for a moment, they felt sympathy for him.
shifts to King Mercury approaching Cinder,.
"Cinder, can I sit down and have a word with-" King Marcus/Mercury said before Cinder interpreted him.
"SHORYUKEN!" Cinder yelled out, uppercutting King Marcus/Mercury in the jaw, causing the latter to fall back while producing with an echoing scream.
"K.O.! YOU WIN!" A voice yelled out.
"Yatta." Cinder whisper out looking at the king's dead body with grin
"Seems negotiations didn't go as he was expecting." Cinder floated to herself. What she didn't notice was that Mercury had stared at her after that statement was said.
He wasn't sure why but hearing her gloat about killing his dad made him feel… odd. It's probably the popcorn he was eating. Nothing more.
(back to present)
"And then I blew the planet up. The end."
Mercury stares at Cinder confused. "How did you know about the parts you weren't there for?"
Cinder gives a blank stare at Mercury and then proceeds to transform.
"Wow, nice comeback Cinder. Really showed him." Jaune said.
Cinder chose to ignore the blonde fool, she didn't dare waste the energy to acknowledge him.
"Nep, do you feel that?" Oscar asked with a fearful look as Cinder's power grew as her body.
"I taste that!" Neptune screamed a look as fear on his face as well.
Cinder finishes transforming into his second form, a Bigger bulkier form.
"Whoa! She's huge! Like that Hazel guy from Haven!" Nora shouted.
"She sure is..." Emerald didn't know how to feel about this new form of Cinder's. It looked too bulky and tall.
"She kinda looks like a bull with those horns." Ruby noted.
"All done." Cinder smiles a bit looking at all of them satisfied. "And judging by the expression on your face, so are you."
"What...? How?" The usual cockiness in his voice was gone.
"Let's be practical and put a number to that feeling, shall we? Last time I clocked this form it was at... one million." Cinder's smile only grows widener.
The audience didn't know what she meant by that but they determined that it must've meant that she was terrifyingly strong.
Cinder loved it, if only she could feel what that power was like. She might even get drunk from it.
"You're lying!"
"Am I? Am I really?" Cinder sarcastically said, raises her hand and explodes the island that everyone is currently standing on, making an explosion so big that it can be seen from the planet. Cinder is shown standing on what's left of the island.
"Whoa!" Fiona and CVY cried out. This being their first time seeing a destructive force of this magnitude. Whitley also sweat dropped, while he had been pleased with how powerful he was in one of the previous worlds. This was an entirely different kind of power than he thought was ever possible.
"Not impressed!" Mercury yelled off screen. "I can do that, too!"
"Neptune, are you okay?" Oscar asks flying above the destroyed island.
"Yeah, and I've got a Little bow girl right here!" Neptune replied with a grin holding Trifa closely.
Cinder begans sings to. " Peaceful young races with fires on their houses
Millions of voices all silenced like mouses
Watching the cowards bow toward their new king
These are a few of my favorite things "
"Oh great she's singing now, as if this Cinder wasn't terrifying enough." Oscar said while clinging to his seat in fear.
"Is it just me, or is she singing to herself?" Neptune asks but is cut off by Cinder charging at him and impaling him with one of her horns, causing Neptune to drop Trifa.
(Neptune Owned Count: 15)
Neptune screams in pain.
"Oh no!" Ruby cried out. But immediately was off put by the showed counter on the screen.
Some in the audience giggled at the sight of the counter, even if they knew it was wrong.
"Neptune!" Oscar screamed out.
"Well, he's dead." Mercury deadpanned in his head.
"This is... the worst... pai-i-i-in!" Neptune said through gritted his teeth.
"Really? Sure it isn't this?" She looks up and starts shifting her head up and down." Or this? Or this? Or this? Or this? (Neptune Owned Count: 16-21, with two 1Ups coming up in the last two ones)
"Neptune, stop! You're making him stronger!" Oscar pleaded.
"I-can't-help-it!" Neptune screamed.
(Neptune Owned Count: 22-25)
At this point most of the audience were laughing. It was a horribly dark joke, but the presentation was spot on and too hilarious. The huntsmen and huntresses that knew the blue haired boy felt very guilty, but they couldn't stop laughing.
"One down!" Cinder throws Neptune off her horn and towards the lake. "Ah, I think impalement is my favorite way to kill a person."
Oscar begans to shake with rage. "You condescending... sadistic... callous... MOTHERF**KER!"
"Pardon?" Cinder ask with a raised eyebrow but then Oscar attacks Cinder by kicking and punching her in the face before knocking her upward with an uppercut and finally kicks her towards the ground. Oscar then starts charging up an energy blast.
"WHOO! Go Cute Boy Oscar! Woo-woo-woo!" Nora cheered on her newest teammate. His other friends joined in cheering for Oscar's alternate.
Oscar was deeply embarrassed but also very ecstatic that he was able to keep up with the frightening tyrant.
"Oscar SMASH EFFEMINATE ALIEN! Oscar STRONGEST THERE IS!" Oscar thought to himself.
Oscar launches a ki blast directly at Cinder, causing a massive explosion. Oscar is then seen in midair catching his breath. Cinder is seen lying face down on the ground, covered in sand from Oscar's assault.
"Ten points for team ALPN!" Nora cheered.
"Yeah, how's that feel, Cinder?" Mercury yelled out. "Now if you can, why don't you pick your sorry ass up and take on a REAL Saiyan…" Mercury's voice trails off as Cinder is seen getting up with a annoyed look.
"Huh. That happened." She muttered before turning to Mercury. "Mercury, mind sitting right there for just a moment, I need to go play babysitter."
"Oh crap, abort Oscar! Abort!" Jaune called out.
"Think! What would Dad do in this situation?" Oscar began to think to himself in a panic.
A flashback of Sun wearing a backpack showed up.
"Bye, son!" Sun said in the flashback in a big dopey smile.
"Damn it Sun." Blake facepalmed.
"Wow, my other self has some issues." Oscar realizes.
(back to present)
"I'm beginning to think I have issues…" Oscar thought to himself when he got punched by Cinder and hit the ground. He tries to get up, but gets crushed by Cinder's foot.
Cinder turns to grin at the Silver haired man. "So, Mercury. Does this get you angry?"
"It's getting ME angry!" Nora shouts at the screen. Her team, RWBY, Qrow, Ozpin and Winter show the same hostility towards the Cinder in the screen.
Mercury shrugs. "Not really. Kind of a smartass."
Cinder frowns "Well then, why am I even bothering?"
"Because you get off on it?" Mercury said hetaintly.
Cinder grins viciously. "Oh, unbelievably... Huh?" Cinder moves to dodges a disc but her tail gets cut off. She turns to glare at culprit.
"Alright, who has the balls?!" She screams out.
Camera zooms on to Neptune, who is the one responsible for cutting off Cinder's tail. Neptune then turns around and starts repeatedly spanking his butt.
"Kiss my ass, bitch! I'm immortal!"
Cinder growls angrily and flies after Neptune.
"Whoa! Neptune's back up already? I thought he was out for the count!" Yang confused. Happy that he lived but still confused as to how he was back in good shape.
Neptune imitates Curly's whooping sounds while flying away and screams: "Suuuck myy diiii…"
The shifts to Mercury thinking to himself. "How the hell did he get up? Oh, my God, I swear if he used that wish of immortality on himself, I am going to murd... " He stops himself and opens his mouth in shock. And speaks out loud after a short pause. "That... bastard."
"Hahaha-ha-ha! You can't kill an immortal!" Emerald laughed.
"Why are you laughing? Weren't you cheering for Cinder?" Mercury implies.
"I am but I'm also cheering against you." Emerald explains.
"You're despicable, you know that right?" Mercury deadpanned.
The scene shifts to Trifa healing Oscar "Come on... You can't leave me alone here; you're the only one I can talk to!" She mutters to herself.
Oscar eyes open, regaining consciousness."I... you... healed me."
"You are the only one I respect."
"Then why did you heal Neptune?"
"The better question is: why did I tell him he was immortal?"
"Ok where is this girl in real life, I'm starting to like her style." Emerald comments.
"I'm starting to not like this Bow Girl." Weiss concludes.
"Yeah that was kinda mean." Ruby adds.
"But it did give him a helluva confidence boost." Yang points out.
The audience reluctantly agrees with Yang.
Neptune flies back to the battlefield with a huge grin. "Holy crap! Thank God I'm immortal!"
"Actually, I healed you, you idiot!" Trifa said off-screen.
"Wait, so I could have died back there?" Neptune realized with his eyes widing.
"After all that you're just going to tear him down like that!" Weiss shouted.
"Yeah, and unlike the runt and I, you don't get a power boost from it." Mercury replied.
"Hax! I call hax!" Neptune whined.
The audience agreed with Screen Neptune.
"How did you escape?" Oscar asked.
"Oh, it was awesome!" See, She was gaining on me there for a minute, but then I managed to lose her in some crevices, but she kept cutting me off at every pass."
"She didn't just blow it up?" Mercury pointed out?"
"Thought the same thing, but no! So I thought fast and I used the Solar Flare on her!"
"And then you used your Kienzan to cut her in half?" Oscar asked gleefully
"Um…"
Cinder flies back to the battlefield, angrily and screams at them. "I WILL MOUNT YOUR HEAD WHERE MY TAIL USED TO BE!"
"To answer your question, Oscar. No, I did not do that." Neptune muttered.
"Damn seriously? He could have finished her off so easily, it was literally in his grasp." Coco shakes her head.
"Douse this bitch!" Mercury yelled.
Mercury, Oscar, and Neptune fire a barrage of energy blasts at Cinder, covering her in smoke.
"Did we get her?" Neptune asked
"Neptune, we can feel her energy. Why do you bother asking?" Oscar asked back annoyed.
"I'm an optimist."
"You're an idiot." Mercury said, glaring at him.
"You're both wrong. You're dead." Cinder said as the smoke cleared and is shown to be unfazed by the blasts.
"You know what? I'm sick of this." Oscar said, his face hardening. "If I'm gonna die, then I'm gonna go out the same way Jaune would!" He moves in to attack Cinder head-on.
"Oscar, no!" Neptune goes to fly after Oscar.
"No! What are you doing?! Don't go out like my other self!" Jaune shouted clutching his head.
RWBY, ALPN, and Ozpin were clouded in worry.
" No, goddamn it!" Mercury also flies after Oscar when a new figure surrounded by light appears in front of the trio. The light clears, and the figure is revealed to be Jaune.
"M... Mr. Jaune!" Oscar cried out.
"Yes! Fearless Leader is here for the rescue!" Nora cheered.
The Jaune in the audience let out a sigh of relief.
"Well, well, well! I'm legitimately surprised I missed one of you." Cinder smiles a bit. "But that's just fine because I've been working on some jokes. Now tell me if you've heard this one: How many Namekians does it take to-" She gets sent flying by a punch from Jaune.
"Just one." Jaune said stoically.
"GO JAUNE GO!" Ruby screamed.
Most of the audience looked towards her from her outburst, including Jaune who was staring wide eyed at her.
"Er, you know. Smash Tyrant Cinder's no good face." She attempts to save face, throwing out air punches to diffuse the situation.
"...Yeah!" Nora shouted.

Heart Stopping
Art By the Wonderful MRK50!  Commissioned by Myself!
_________________________________________________________
Jaune had experienced a lot of things in his short life, getting new siblings, having the girl he was in love with step all over his heart, having his eldest sister knock him around like a rag doll.  Each of those times had stolen his breath away, only one of those had given him a good feeling afterwards.  However, for the first time since he’d been alive, he REALLY felt his breath stolen.  HIs heartbeat slowed as the vision of the goddess or near goddess in front of him took all of his attention, his peripheral vision blurring out everything else.  “Wow…”  Truly he was a poet.
Tumblr media
Still, he found himself nearly unable to speak or move, despite the distance he felt her gazing into his soul, much like he was doing with her.  His stomach flipped, he felt butterflies swarming around his gut, his heart flipped as his breath became ragged.  He’d never experienced feelings like this before, and despite how embarrassed he was.  He still found himself unable to look away, he half expected her to do the same, but she simply watched him, watched him with an increased amount of interest.
She was absolutely stunning, in a lot of ways she reminded him of, “FLANNA!”  her, ya her.  Jaune’s attention snapped to Nora, who was practically fuming.  Before he could stop his exuberant sister she darted off.
“This appears to be bad.”  Jaune turned his attention to his brother, an exasperated look on his face.  Lie simply shrugged as he began to walk after Nora.
“You!  What are you doing here?!”  Nora was practically steaming, how dare this harlot show her face here!  She thought they’d left her behind back home, but no here she was!  Though… she looked a little different, possibly going for a new look, well she’d have none of that.
“I… I’m sorry?”  Pyrrha was incredibly confused, and a little scared.  She’d been watching the newcomers with piqued interest, well she’d been staring at the blonde boy possibly a little too much if she was actually being honest.  Then all of a sudden the orange girl made her way towards her, calling her Flanna?  She’d never heard that name before, how peculiar.  Right back to the girl in front of her.
“You’d better be sorry!  What did I tell you about staying away from us?!”  Oh this was bad, Nora was angry, and when she was angry bad things happened.  Jaune hurried forward, Lie on following along in pace.
“Nora!”  Both boys grabbed a side of their smaller sister.  “Nora!”
“What?!”  She struggled against the two boys, pulling them along with her.
If there was one thing Pyrrha understood from this strange encounter, it was that the smaller girl was strong, strong enough to drag her two male friends along with her.  She herself hadn’t realized she’d sensed the danger till she noticed that she’d already taken a defensive stance just in case an altercation happened.  She just hoped they wouldn’t bother the other students too much.
“Nora that’s not her!”  Jaune was doing his best to calm his little sister, hopefully she’d listen to reason.
“What?!  What do you mean it’s not her!  They look exactly the same!”  Thankfully Nora had stopped, her attention now fully on Jaune.
“What?  No they don’t!  Flanna’s hair is nowhere near as gorgeous, and her eyes aren’t even close to how shining hers are!”  And like that, Jaune realized he was talking aloud, his mouth snapping shut shortly after.
.
Nora paused, turning towards the girl she started to see it too, “Oh…”  That’s really all she could say on the matter, she hadn’t meant to scare anyone!  She just thought it was that harlot who broke Jaune’s heart, and she’d be damned if she let her or anyone else do it again!
Still, she wasn’t sure she could trust this newcomer, she saw the way her big brother looked at her, even more so she saw the way she looked back!  That was just asking for bad news, he’d been burned before, and again she’d be damned if she let anyone else hurt him.  “Sorry…”  It was a half hearted apology, but it was the best the girl in front of her was going to get.  Still, she silently fumed, at least till she felt Lie’s hand on her shoulder.  Turning towards her other brother she calmed down as they met eye contact.  “I’m sorry… I thought you were… someone else.”
“I apologize on her behalf as well.”  Lie simply smiled, choosing to keep his apology for Nora on the short side.
Pyrrha simply nodded, she was feeling many things right now, confused, a little exhausted, and a little scared.  But, at the very least it didn’t seem that the orange haired girl… or Nora as they’d called her, well it didn’t seem like her anger was actually directed at her.  She was curious, but it was impolite to ask these things of people she’d just met.  “I uhm… that’s alright, apology accepted.”  She finally relaxed, lowering her guard.
Jaune took a breath, at least Nora’s little rampage had done something good.  He felt his heart calm, and a new found amount of courage entered his chest.  “I’m sorry too, please forgive us, well… I mean you already did… but still!  Uhm… sorry…”  Wow he was finding it rather hard to talk.  “Nora’s… she’s just an overprotective sister”
“Sister?”  Oh!  She hadn’t meant to say that outloud, but the two didn’t look anything alike.  Though if she squinted she could sort of make it out.  Nora did have turquoise eyes, and the boy had, well he had the most stunning clear sapphire colored eyes, Pyrrha had never seen eyes like his before.  “I’m sorry!”  Her face flushed in embarrassment, perhaps this wasn’t something she should be asking aloud, or at all.
The trio simply chuckled in response, “It’s okay, we get that a lot.  Oh uhm… I’m Jaune, Jaune Arc.  Short, Sweet, Rolls off the tongue lad… OUCH!”  Jaune jolted up as Nora slammed her heel into his foot.
“Jaune!  What did I tell you about that terrible line?!”  Nora obviously didn’t want to hear it, neither did Lie apparently, he simply rolled his eyes at his siblings antics.
“But!  Dad said…”
“Jaune… dad’s advice isn’t meant to be taken literally.  Like, when he says all you need is confidence, he means confidence in yourself, not to fake it.  You should listen to mom’s instead.”  Lie’s words caused him to pause, right Lie was right…
“Right I’m sorry… I’m just a bit nervous.”  He didn’t really want to expand on why he was so nervous, not when the reason he was nervous was the incredibly gorgeous girl in front of him.  “I uhm… I’m Jaune Arc, third child and first son of the Arc family.”
As Jaune reached his hand out, Pyrrha found herself a little flustered, and a little lost.  People rarely approached her, she’d always come off as intimidating, and scary.  She couldn’t even remember the last time someone had gone out of their way to introduce themselves first.  As she took his hand she felt her heart flip in her chest.  This was a nice feeling, hopefully her parents were right, maybe she’d be able to make friends after all.  “I’m Pyrrha… Pyrrha Nikos.”  She smiled, and for the first time in a long time her smile reached all the way.  “It’s a pleasure to meet you Jaune Arc…”  She paused, “and for what it’s worth I quite like the name.”  Crimson began to spread across her cheeks as she realized she’d just flirted.
Crimson also began to spread across Jaune’s face, he hadn’t expected that to work, his track record with flirting was non existent, mostly cause he hadn’t bothered in a long time.  “I… thank you… Pyrrha’s also an incredibly gorgeous name.”  Oh… “I… uhm… u… I meant pretty…”
Both of them stood there, frozen as to what to do next, till Nora spoke up instead.  SNAP  Both statues turned towards the sound of a scroll taking a picture.  Nora stood there with a massive grin on her face.  “Heheheh~  Wait till mom sees this!”
If their faces had been simply crimson before, they were now an intense and dark scarlet.
“Good job Jauney~!”  Nora was obviously happy for her brother, though she was over exaggerating at the moment, but this was nice!  Jaune never talked with other people, well people that weren’t family.  Heck, he did so less than herself or Lie!  Stuffing her scroll in her pocket she stepped forward.  “Howdy Pyrrha!  Again sorry for threatening ya like that before!  Though if you break Jauney’s heart I break your legs!”
“I… uh… uhm….”  Pyrrha felt like she was a deer lost in the headlights.  She didn’t even know if she liked Jaune yet!  Though he was quite dashing, and appeared to be rather kind, if not a little dorky.  Though, that wasn’t a bad thing, not in the slightest.
“Alright Nora that’s enough.”  Jaune had finally snapped out of his stupor.  Withdrawing his hand, regrettably, from Pyrrha’s grasp.  “UHm… right, well the short orange haired tiny person you’ve been speaking to is Nora Valkyrie Arc, my younger sister.”
“OH!  Getting brave in front of your new girlfriend are you?  You’re in kneecap popping distance Jauney~!”  Though she spoke, her voice was far from threatening, more jubilant than anything else.
Jaune simply rolled his eyes, “And the silent one over here is our brother Lie Ren Arc.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Pyrrha.  I apologize for our sister’s… behavior.”  Lie simply eyed Nora who shrugged in response.
“It’s alright.  It is a pleasure to meet you three~”  Despite everything that happened, Pyrrha was happy!  People were talking to her, though she was curious, none of them looked even closely related but they all had the same last name and had introduced themselves as siblings.  For now she’d stow that away for later, she was just happy she’d gotten to meet new people.
The lights began to dim as the headmaster made his way out to introduce himself.  Jaune paid no heed to the dimming lights or the headmaster, instead he continued to watch Pyrrha.  She was really pretty… and she seemed really nice.  Though, even as his hopes grew he still heard the little bit in the back of his head.  You’re going to fail, don’t bother, she’ll just leave you too~  He bit his lip as he turned his attention towards the front.  His heartbeat slowing to a near stop, right he didn’t have the best luck with these things, best not to try.

Summary: In which Neil hates his new prescribed glasses until they attract the interest of a certain Andrew Minyard.
Commissioner: Ziegenkind
Notes: Title taken from Billie Eilish’s ‘Ocean Eyes.’
Ocean Eyes, Golden Mind
Dude, it’s just a frat party. Who doesn’t go to frat parties?
The message flashes Neil’s screen white, its sender none other than his roommate Nicky who is supposed to study for an upcoming test in Public Policy in exactly nineteen hours. That’s what Neil writes him. Nicky’s reply comes instantly.
Those who study tend not to party. You know. Like you.
Neil leaves him on read. If he wants to party, he’ll lock himself inside his room, two bottles of Jack Daniel’s by his side while watching every existing compilation of cats attacking people on the small screen of his phone. He knows how to have a good time, alright. Not everyone has to set their scale like Nicky: More than once Neil has been the spectator of him coming back to the dormitory completely wasted, but still eager enough to get frozen waffles from the fridge. Being too drunk to put them in the toaster, he usually just climbs up to his top bunk and puts them between his thighs to eat them partially defrosted. It’s this fragile line between genius and stupidity that has Neil doubting if he should fill in a request for changing roommates or just live with the fact that Nicky Hemmick is one special kind of man.
So instead of spending his night curled into himself, wall against his back and eyes on every stranger distributing awful shots, Neil sits at the Math Tutoring Centre on the west side of the campus and gives group tutoring sessions.
Math comes to Neil like breathing. Like Bertrand Russel said, not only does Mathematics possess truth, but supreme beauty—a beauty cold and austere, like that of a sculpture. It is sublimely pure, and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show. It is poetry—elegant and deep—of logical ideas to create harmony in a written line. Once he tried to explain that to Nicky over microwaved Mac n Cheese with Girls running in the background, clearly overestimating him, because Nicky only stared into space for a few seconds, and replied, “You really need to get laid, man.”
Reluctant at the beginning, Neil only agreed to join the Tutor Program because his math professor promised to throw in some extra cash. Something about raising the graduate numbers in order to get the board of education off his back. That’s where Neil’s jurisdiction of interest ends, but he has enjoyed it more than expected—the empty hallways, the harsh light of the ceiling lamps, the smell of chalk, the faint echoes of students still lingering in classrooms. There’s this magic about the Palmetto State University at night—a vulnerability that can only live once the sun sets behind the horizon. When else would he find a kid sleeping under a table in the library, or seniors breaking down in tears for exact 10 minutes before continuing their studies as if nothing has happened.
There’s another reason he’d rather spend his evening on campus, one Nicky doesn’t need to know because then Neil won’t hear the end of it. That reason being 5’0’’ tall chemistry prodigy Andrew Minyard, sitting in the last row of Neil’s math sessions each Friday. He only knows about him thanks to Nicky’s never-ending complaints, but that never really stopped him from throwing a few or more glances in Andrew’s direction. Just curiosity, of course.
So when he stands in front of the blackboard now, putting away his lesson papers which are full of numbers and equations—the kind that has enough letters to look like sentences—he feels dozens eyes burn holes in the back of his neck, and one pair belongs to Andrew. No one asks why he’s here, but everyone knows he doesn’t need to be.
In his one year of giving tutoring sessions, Neil has learnt that exactly three types of students exist: Students who are really good, certainly not in need of the extra lessons, but going anyway for some extra ego-buff and unnecessary brain-flexing. The second type is students who are okay, doing their tasks, following the lesson, not really attracting any attention safe for some crude jokes. The last type has Neil questioning his belief in the educational system of the whole state because he doesn’t understand how they are allowed inside the sacred halls of PSU.
Andrew is a special type on his own—the enigma that keeps Neil awake at two in the morning because he’s desperate to solve it, but without knowing where to start, he’s just running in circles. His fingers itch to solve an equation with multiple variables, to find the solution to a problem and get it off his mind.
He doubts it will be this easy with Andrew.
“Before we continue to look at scalar products in R- and C-vector spaces, we’ll consider bilinear and semi-bilinear forms in general, and link them to matrices for their representation to chosen bases.” Neil’s hand flies across the board, leaving letters and parenthesizes that look like bizarre drawings—art in its most complex form. Once he’s finished, he takes a step away, wipes the chalk on his fingers off on his jeans, and turns to his audience. “What happens to this equation with the semi-bilinear form σ?”
Two hands shoot up immediately. He ignores them; no need to feed their ego, and instead picks a freshman who’s been staring at his phone for the last ten minutes. Making way, Neil moves back to the student’s seats and leans against a desk.
Is it the farthest place away from the board? It is.
Is it the closest that will get him to Andrew? Might be so.
It certainly gives him a good look at what Andrew’s been doing since Neil started—and that is not solving a single task on the paper Neil has handed out at the beginning of the session. Andrew, apparently bored before it even started, has taken out a slip of paper with a sudoku puzzle on it and is solving it against his leg, completely linked out of the instruction.
Neil tries not to stare too much at Andrew’s bare arms, and instead looks back at the board.
“Does that look right?” the freshman—Rhys or Rheeze or something like that—asks, turning around.
Neil narrows his eyes and squints at the board. He can’t make out a single thing, and that’s bad, yes, but his feet betray him, staying rooted where they are instead of reducing the distance until he can distinguish σ from a.
“Where does the l come from,” he asks. Multiple heads snap in his direction.
“That’s a j, Josten,” someone says from the other side of the room.
Neil squints harder. “And the u?”
    “A μ.”
“No, it’s a v,” a girl next to Neil says, and that’s when the everyone starts shouting about what’s on the board and what isn’t.
Neil bears it for a solid minute before he surrenders. He pulls a small case from his pocket, opens it. Puts his glasses on.
    The whole room goes silent.
Neil checks the equation, nods. “Correct. Who’s next?”
Multiple people stir, one manages to get up, and walks straight into a table leg. Neil questions that ‘straight’, because only then the freshman guy stops staring at Neil and steers his attention to the equation on the blackboard.
It was a bad idea, and Neil still hates Allison for forcing him to go. She’d dragged him to the doctor last week to get his eyes tested, annoyed by his never-ending questions of ‘What’s written there?’ or ‘Is that a six or an eight?’.
“They’re my eyes,” Neil had said, arms crossed as he sat in the office and waited for his turn.
“And it’s me who has to see your ugly squinting face,” Allison had replied.
Two hours later Neil had finally his prescriptions but that didn’t mean he was free from Allison’s clutches. He would have been fine with some glasses from the dollar store, but she insisted that if he’s going to wear them more than once a day, he should get designer glasses—thin frames and a color that matches his copper hair. She suggested gold. Neil picked black. The look of disappointment on Allison’s face was something that deserved its own painting to commemorate it. But once they’d finally chosen the right pair, she’d given him the very same look most of the students are giving him now—a mix between slight awe and disbelief as if he’s grown a second head. Or owes them all a month’s worth of lunch money.
“Well,” had Allison said at least, turning away to pack up and go home. “Tigers have their stripes. I have my eyeliner.” She threw him another scrutinizing look over her shoulder. “You have your glasses.” If it was supposed to make him feel better, it didn’t work, and right now he regrets nothing more than allowing Allison to drag him around.
Neil’s eyes land on Andrew’s sudoku puzzle, now half-hidden under his papers, and he sees now that he isn’t even solving the thing, but simply coloring in the empty squares.
He takes a second too long and meets Andrew’s eyes staring back at him.
“Problem, Josten?” Andrew asks with a blank expression, tapping the end of his pen against his monochrome picture of black and white squares.
Neil wants to see how far he can push until he walks against a brick wall and breaks something. He returns his gaze to the board but feels Andrew’s eyes like a solid touch on the back of his neck.
After the session, the students hurry outside, still throwing curious glances over their shoulders at Neil and if he could merge with the back of his chair and disappear forever, that would be totally okay. It isn’t until a shadow looms above him that he looks up from his own homework and draws in a careful breath when Andrew towers above him.
Neil raises an eyebrow. “Problem, Minyard?”
Andrew’s face gives nothing away, and when he stretches out a hand, Neil doesn’t flinch. His glasses slip off easily, held between Andrew’s thumb and index finger.
“Nicky told me he’s trying to convince you to join him tomorrow,” Andrew says. Neil needs a second, because that is the most words he’s heard out of Andrew’s mouth.
“I have no reason to go,” Neil says, his eyes jumping up and down, from the equation that makes his sight blur to Andrew leaning his slender waist against the table.
“You have one now.” It’s barely neutral enough to not sound like a threat, but Neil stares at Andrew nonetheless, and when he puts Neil’s glasses on, Neil’s heart does a weird stutter. He’s still starring at Andrew when he leaves the room, and no, his eyes don’t stray, they stay on Andrew’s broad back, and if they dip lower it’s because of the light.
Once he’s alone, Neil takes a deep breath, exhales slowly. Puts his head in his arms and counts to ten in French first, then again in German. His heart still does this weird thing, trying to bruise his ribs from the inside.
He gets his phone, texts Nicky he’ll go to the frat party tomorrow and puts it away, not interested in his roommate’s reply. There’s still the equation he needs to solve, but for the first time Neil’s heart isn’t really into math, and he is quite alright with it.

WHG 15 Impostor Syndrome Part 1
Triel is going to have a fun time! Tagging: @sparkles-and-hens, @knmartinshouldbewriting, @maple-writes, @pen-of-roses, @thoughts-of-nora, and @ratracechronicler!
I wandered outside the district as my thoughts wandered through my plan one last time. Today was the day. I was going to volunteer as tribute and give the Capitol a big middle finger as I helped as many tributes as possible escape from the arena and to freedom. What could go wrong?
It was going to be foolproof. It had to be, right? I had to project confidence, or no one would believe in my scheme. And it would work. It had to.
“Sparrow, what are you—” I barely heard the voice before I bumped into someone. Not just someone. I grinned as I looked up. Aunt Reeves. She was here!
I flung my arms around her, and she hugged me back in one of her signature bone-crushing hugs. I held on tighter. “I could ask you the same question!”
She grunted. “You didn’t even let me finish it.” She paused. “We’re here because Graem wanted to talk to you.” She lowered her voice. “Don’t tell him I said it, but he’s worried about you.”
“I heard that.” I pulled away from Aunt Reeves as Uncle Graem walked up. I grinned and ran over to him to get crushed by one of his hugs too. When we broke apart, he sniffed. “And I’m not worried about you. I just want to talk over your plan a little.”
Aunt Reeves snorted in the background, and I probably should give some exposition about who these two were. They weren’t really my aunt and uncle. First, they weren’t married, and they weren’t my blood relatives. Aunt Reeves was a pirate captain, and Uncle Graem was her first mate. They found me when I was a baby, and I had been cast out to sea. There’s more to my backstory, but I’m not going to divulge everything yet.
I grinned and nodded. “So, I’m planning on volunteering for the Hunger Games and convincing as many tributes as I can to escape from the arena, where my airship and crew will be waiting for them to take them to safety!”
“And where is safety?”
“I’ve been eyeing this interesting fabled mansion that has anti-Capitol defenses that should keep us all safe. Shine will be in control while I’m in the arena, and they [yes, they’re non-binary…and deaf, just to let you know] will make sure everything runs smoothly on the outside.”
Uncle Graem frowned. “And what happens if it doesn’t work out so perfectly?”
That was the big problem, wasn’t it? And no matter how much I thought about it, I hadn’t come up with a solution. It would all go to shit if it didn’t go well. I smiled sweetly. “Could I ask for your help?”
Aunt Reeves snorted. “You can—”
Uncle Graem nodded. “—but we won’t be helping you in this scheme. I must say, I was impressed in how you found Nesri and hid her from the Shades [exposition to come about those guys], so I want to see where youll go after achieving so much. We will only be impartial observers.”
I had known that would be the case. I nodded. “Thanks. I hope you’re impressed.” I bowed theatrically, and Uncle Graem and Aunt Reeves were gone as soon as they had come.
Now, I could explain about the Shades and Nesri. The Shades joined the Capitol and somehow were able to give kids this magic that made a person glow and float and crystallize liquids in a certain radius around them, and the crystal was as strong as a diamond. The Shades were behind the fear mongering about the people who had the glowy magic, so the Capitol thought they could control them. And for the most part, that was true. But Nesri was able to escape, and I had found her a month ago. She joined my pirate crew, and the Shades had no idea where she was. Unfortunately, she was a Victor, so she had to show up to the Reaping and the Hunger Games, but I wouldn’t let them take her.
Everything was going to work out. I just had to work my hardest, and everything would be fine.
I jumped when the bells rang. The Reaping would start soon. And my plan would be put into motion.
*
But first, I had to fix my look. Last night, Shine had made a bet with me, and they had won. Because of that, I didn’t have a cool hat or coat anymore, so I had to get those for the Reaping. I headed over to the Victors’ houses to find suitable replacements.
I went to Cahira’s house first. She was one of the oldest Victors, and she still defied the Capitol whenever they weren’t paying attention. She was an information specialist, and I had gone to her to get the information I needed for my plan. So, she wouldn’t be surprised to see me.
I knocked on the door, and Cahira herself opened it after a slight pause. She grinned at me and patted me on the shoulder. “To what do I owe the visit, my dear?”
I smirked back. “Wardrobe change.”
Cahira laughed and let me in. “I’m not attached to any of this stuff, so you can have it, as long as it fits you. But you should hurry. The Reaping’s starting soon, and I heard from a little sparrow that it will be an exciting one.”
I nodded and started walking. “Don’t worry. I don’t mean to miss it.”
Cahira left me to it, and I stalked through the hallways, looking for a promising room to raid. Before I could get very far, however, I froze at the light on in one of the rooms. I snuck up to look inside, and I smirked. Oh. Cahira had a guest.
She was a dashing beauty, with curly, dark blue hair and bright green eyes. She didn’t have make-up caked on her face, unlike most of the rich snots in the Capitol. But she was from the Capitol. No one from the districts would have such an impressive (read: ugly) wardrobe.
As she was perusing the selection, I walked up with my best dazzling smile, eyeing the perfect long, black coat and wide-brimmed hat just hanging in there, asking to be taken. She didn’t even startle; she just looked over at me with a smirk.
“And what is a local doing in Cahira’s mansion? I thought she was a loner?”
She certainly sounded like a Capitol snot. Light, breezy voice that sounded like she wanted to give a tinkling laugh in your direction at any moment. I smiled wider. “Miss Cahira invited me to find the perfect outfit for the Reaping here. And I’m glad I took her invitation. I wouldn’t have found such beauty here otherwise.”
She did give the tinkling laugh. “How cute. If you’re able to be Reaped, I’m too old for you.”
“Does that mean I can’t appreciate beauty when I see it?”
She cocked her head, still smirking. “Is there any reason why you came to my room in particular?” She paused, gesturing at her expansive wardrobe. “Anything catch your eye?”
A trap? Her eyes were amused, and she crossed her arms. I turned to the clothes and pretended to look over them. Most of them were gaudy Capitol things. It was kind of odd that there was anything normal in this selection. “Honestly, Capitol fashion has always intrigued me, but this—” I pointed to the long coat and wide-brimmed hat, “really confuses me. How does this fit with the rest of the styles you have?”
She laughed that same annoying laugh. I couldn’t tell if she was toying with me or not. I couldn’t read her at all. Who was she?
She took the coat and hat down and set them on her bed. “Truly a curious trend. It happened a few Hunger Games ago, when the tribute who won refused to wear anything fancy during his interviews or chariot ride. So, we decided to hop on the bandwagon and wear casual things, but casual things are such a drag. I only brought this along just in case a local came looking for good clothes. Why don’t you take them?”
Oh, she was totally toying with me. I eyed her. “What’s the catch?” I could get away with just stealing this. She wouldn’t be able to use me after the Reaping, since I was going to be a tribute. So, there wasn’t a huge risk for me. But still…
She cocked her head. “Oh, I’ll think of something before I leave. I’ll find you after the Reaping. Wear the coat and hat proud until then.” She winked.
I nodded. That was acceptable. I wouldn’t have anything to give after I became the Capitol’s property. So, even if she could get to me during the visits, it would be useless. I snatched the coat and hat and ran out of the room before she could change her mind.

The Librarian X Reader
here’s something for the peeps! :D *DISCLAMER* There will be smut! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED -.-
( also the spacing is really off so I apologize about that. Just make sure you scroll down all the way!)
@chaoticallywriting @darlingimmafangirl
You loved going to Republic city university library, always felt at home surrounded by books that offered you a sanctuary, away from life’s problems. It also gave you a chance to see her.
You didn’t know much about her when you first moved to Republic city but you were memorized by the way her beauty mark under her right eye made those brilliant pale green eyes stand out . You liked the way her sleek black hair was always pulled back into a tight bun. Though most people couldn’t pull it off at such a young age, she could. It was a natural look to her. She couldn’t have been much older than you, but she certainly acted like it. She held an authoritative posture and spoke with such professionalism that it rivaled many of the older faculty members.
When you first applied for your library card you stole a glance at her ID card hanging from her neck. Kuvira was her name. A name you never forgot, even months later. Oftentimes you came to study, but there were times you stole glances at her. It wasn’t something you could help. The way she projected herself always walking with such poise and grace was something that quickly caught your attention. Her tone was never condescending, always warm and welcoming whenever you required her assistance in searching for new reading recommendations or a book needed for class projects, she was always willing to help. It made her that much more unique and interesting, something you couldn’t help but admire. You found it odd that you were developing a crush on her but who wouldn’t she was clearly a breathtaking sight.
Though she spoke very little the times you did speak to her she always had something interesting to say whether it was newfound knowledge or a book recommendation. It was hard for you to tear your attention away from her.
One day you caught her off guard, engrossed in a romance novel that you couldn’t help but recognize. The author was one of your favorites, you couldn’t help but chuckle at the similarities and taste you both shared in books.
“That’s a really good book. What chapter are you on?” You asked.
Kuvira looked up to peer over at you with the book still in hand. Her pale green eyes watched you carefully through black square-framed glasses. “Beg your pardon?”
“The book that you’re reading. I read it before and it’s very good. I was just curious how far you’ve gotten”
Kuvira paused momentarily before realizing that you were referring to the book she held in her hands. “Oh, I didn’t think you were interested in Nora Roberts.”
“How could I not be? Her books are very good. I like how she writes the female characters. Though they struggle through their strife they always manage to find the will to fight through their problems.”
Kuvira took a moment, taking in your words before nodding in agreement. “I know it's a bit much, but she has a writing style that is very unique. I do like how she incorporates mysteries and suspense into her books.”
“True. My favorite book from her is a book called Sanctuary. I’m not sure if you ever read it.”
“Actually I have,” Kuvira answered, smirking. “Ironically it is also one of my favorites.”
“Well then, you obviously have good taste.”
It was then Kuvira smiled, a rarity in itself. You couldn’t help but notice the fluttering sensation you felt in your stomach. She was absolutely beautiful. You watched as she placed the book on the table and placed a marker into it. You wondered if It was out of embarrassment as Kuvira tried to hide the blush that was growing on her face.
“I should say the same about you. I actually have read some of the books you checked out previously, which is why I always recommend some to you. What brings you by today Y/N?” Kuvira said, changing the topic.
“I just wanted to use the library to study. I have a test coming up. Midterms to be exact.”
“I see. Well, you are always welcome to use one of the open tables unless you’re trying to check out a study room.”
“No, the table should be enough. Thank you.” You said offering a warm smile before turning to walk away. Once you settled in an open seat you stole a quick glance at Kuvira and noticed her watching you from afar her gaze fixated on you. You could feel your heartbeat quicken but managed to quell your feelings by dismissing it as coincidental and focused on studying, assuming that she had no interest in you in that way. However, you soon learned how wrong you were.
One evening, on a rainy day you came into the library soaked. Your shirt clung to you uncomfortably which caused it to outline your figure more. Exposing the fullness of your chest and waist. You cursed yourself for not wearing a jacket or bringing an umbrella. You approached the Librarian’s desk where Kuvira stood. Her gaze fixated on you with so much intensity you could feel yourself tremble. You questioned if it was from her gaze or the chill from being in wet clothes for too long, you couldn’t tell.
“Hi,” you said awkwardly
Kuvira continued to stare. Standing stiffly not seeming to hear you.
“Um… are you ok?” You asked, growing more nervous as she continued to stare.
You watched as she jerked back, her eyes blinking in confusion.
“Sorry?” Kuvira finally spoke, clearing her throat as a blush grew on her face.
“I was asking if you were ok.” You said watching Kuvira’s expression carefully.
“I should be asking you that, especially since you’re dripping water onto my carpet. Rough day?”
“More like a rough week. This is just a lovely addition to it.”
“You are aware it’s supposed to be raining for the rest of the week right? That typically happens when the season transitions into fall around here.”
“I wasn’t aware but then again I was too much in a rush to leave before even thinking about checking the weather or grabbing an umbrella.”
“ I see…” Kuvira regarded you a moment before turning on her heel and walking away towards her back office. After a few awkward minutes, she came out with a coat in tow. She placed it on the counter between the two of you and slid the coat towards you.
“Here, it’s a spare. Hopefully, it will help you get through the day.” Kuvira said gently, eyes full of compassion.
You stare dumbfounded at her, surprised at her kind gesture. It stirred those feelings again this time with much more intensity.
“Thank you.” You said quietly, appreciative of her kindness.
Kuvira smiled widely as she took in your expression. “Of course, flu season is upon us. I wouldn’t want you to get sick. You can return it to me when you’re finished with it.”
“I will, I promise.” You took a moment to put the jacket on, enjoying the warmth it immediately offered you. You held the collar tightly to your face, could even smell the Librarian’s scent on the coat. It smelled of pine and a hint of tea-tree. At that moment you prayed you weren’t blushing as you thanked Kuvira before turning away and heading towards your usual area to sit and study. You wondered if she was usually like that with everyone.
Your happiness was short-lived over the next few days as you went through a chain of unfortunate events. You ended up catching a cold that forced you to be bedridden for a few days. When you came back to school you entered your philosophy class and were greeted to a surprise pop quiz in which you ended up failing miserably. It didn’t help that your college professor blew it off as something that was your fault. You could feel the irritation and rage growing as he seemed to be accusing you of being irresponsible. What made it worse was his insinuation of you moonlighting with some student you met on campus and felt the need to bed him. It took every ounce of willpower not to punch him in the face. You had heard from the reviews that your professor could be rather sexist but didn’t know the extent of how far he could take it. You thought your grades were enough to validate that you were a hard-working student but to him, you were nothing more of a nuisance. That’s struck you deeply. Knowing full well that was far from the truth, but it wasn’t the first time you were mislabeled.
One of the passing sorority girls overheard your conversation with your professor. She stopped with her gaggle of handmaidens and laughed at you. You recalled her telling the professor that wasn’t true, how can someone as unattractive as you could possibly find anyone who would want to date let alone fuck you. If anybody decided to give you the time a day it was because they were very desperate. It was then you lost your temper, suppressing hot tears that threaten to fall as you rounded on the sorority group yelling that they had no room to talk since they probably fucked their way through half the campus by now, probably had STD’s still unknown to scientists, and were so loose that once age finally caught up to them they would be nothing more but leathery skin and bones that not even their stepdad want to fuck.
It was a bitter defeat as one of the girls stepped out and punched you hard in the face, causing your lip to bleed. Your Professor stood there laughing, doing absolutely nothing to help. What made you enraged was when you heard him say “you got what you deserved.” It was then you knew you were outmatched, that there was no way you could win this fight. So you did the best you could in that situation, you grabbed your bag and walked away. You tried to maintain your composure as you reached the door to the library. Swinging open the door, you rushed past Kuvira’s desk.
“Y/N? What happened to you?!?” Kuvira demanded, shocked at the state of your being.
You didn’t even realize that she had tried to get your attention. Kuvira watched in horror when she saw blood running down your lip as you stormed off. You opened the door to one of the study rooms and slammed it shut. You released a shaky sob as you let yourself fall into one of the chairs, dropping your arms on the table. You leaned forward resting your head on them. It was then you allowed yourself to fall apart. You couldn’t help the sobs that racked through your body, couldn’t control the cries of anguish echo through the room. Engrossed in your emotions you failed to realize the Librarian that stood at the small window of the door to the study room watching you cry. Kuvira watched your body shake and could hear your sobs through the closed door. She debated using her master key to unlock the door but didn’t want to invade. With a heavy sigh, she turned away from you and walked back to her desk.
After what felt like hours and the tears finally subsided, you collected yourself to where you felt comfortable enough to take your leave. Taking a quick glance at your phone to check the time you realized that the library had already closed. You were surprised Kuvira didn’t try to shoo you out. Swinging your bag over your shoulder you stood up to leave. You carefully opened the door, taking a moment to peek your head out to see if anybody was still there. The library was completely abandoned. No sounds...nothing…
When you realized the coast was clear you gently shut the door behind you and began walking towards the exit.
“I was wondering how long you were going to lock yourself there Y/N” A voice called out. You immediately recognized that voice. It caused you to cease your movements abruptly. You slowly turned around to find the Librarian standing directly behind you, pale green eyes locked on to yours. You noticed she wasn’t wearing her glasses. It made her gaze much more intimidating...
“Kuvira? I’m sorry I didn’t mean to keep you here so late.” You said ashamed, guilt began eating away at you.
“Y/N…” Kuvira trailed off, taking a step towards you.
A hand reached out and lifted your chin, tilting it to the side. Kuvira could see the dry blood from your busted lip. Something flashed in Kuvira's eye, her expression darkened. From what exactly, you didn’t know. You assumed it was because of your busted lip.
“Who did that to you?” Kuvira asked in a dangerously low tone that made you tremble.
“It’s nothing.” You said defensively. You fought back the tears that threatened to fall, causing your eyes to sting painfully.
“It obviously isn’t nothing.”
Kuvira said sharply, causing you to look away. You set your gaze to the floor.
Kuvira’s hand moved to your shoulder, squeezing it gently as she pulled you towards her. “Come with me.”
You obeyed as Kuvira led you up and around the check- out counter towards her office in the back. When you entered you were guided to a chair. Kuvira gestured for you to sit as she turned back to the door. The office was nice, the decor rather simple. There was a large desk in between you and an office chair that was pushed in behind the vacant desk. Two accent chairs sat on the other side. A laptop rested beside a neat stack of papers. Landscape paintings adorned the walls giving a room a cozy atmosphere. You heard the door click shut. You turned to watch Kuvira approach, rounding her desk. She opened her desk drawer pulling out a napkin and a bottle of water. She quietly folded the napkin into a neat square. She then opened up the water bottle placing the napkin at the lip of the bottle before flipping it over to wet the napkin. Once she was satisfied that it was wet enough she placed the water onto her desk before grabbing her office chair and pulling it from behind her desk. She set the chair in front of you, sat down, and settled into it.
“Here,” Kuvira said gently, taking hold of your face. She carefully placed the napkin on your lip, gently trailing down to wipe away the dried up blood. You couldn’t fight the waves of emotions that you felt, finding it increasingly hard to meet her gaze.
“Do you want to tell me what happened?” Kuvira asked. Her voice was much more gentle as she continued on with her ministrations.
You sighed deeply debating on whether or not to tell her the events from earlier that day that led you into her office as she finished, tossing the napkin into the waste bin beside her desk. Her hands still on your face, gently pushing away strands of hair behind your ears.
“What’s the point… it's not like it matters anyway.” You stated in a nonchalant tone.
“It does matter,” Kuvira said, her voice still gentle but held much more of a serious undertone. She let her hands fall away as she gripped her knees. “It’s my job to help students no matter what the situation may be. Especially when I find one of them barging into my library near tears and with a bloody lip that I know for a fact was not accidental.”
“Well then, you’re probably one of the only faculty members of this university’s pathetic excuse of what they call staff that actually cares. My professor didn’t even care when that girl socked me in the face when she interfered with a conversation she had no business getting involved in.” You said dryly, words coming out more bitter than you intended them to be.
“A professor witnessed this? What did they do? Surely they were at least reprimanded.”.
“HE didn’t do shit. That bastard did nothing but laughed when those girls cornered me.”
“What!” Kuvira said shocked, taking in a sharp breath to quell the anger she felt from this newfound information. “What is your professor’s name?”
“It’s fine, you probably don’t even know him. Besides, I do not wanna become more of a nuisance that people have already painted me out to be.”
“Try me. You’d be surprised how many people I am forced to interact with when my face isn’t glued to a book. I probably met this man at one of our weekly faculty meetings.”
“It’s okay, Kuvira. The last thing I want to do is to trouble you further with frivolous issues”
“Y/N,” Kuvira said, coming out more forceful than she intended.
Your eyes finally met her gaze, almost if challenging her. Your rising anger quickly dissipated as you took in her expression. Her face was hardened, you could see Kuvira’s jaw clenching tightly as suppressed anger flared in those pale green eyes, her gaze zeroed in on you with such intensity you knew that no matter how much you tried to stonewall her she was not going to let this go. She was going to get the answers she sought, by hook or by crook.
You sank into your seat, deciding to be honest to the one person who clearly proved that she had your best interest at hand. “His name is Professor Caldera.”
Anger flashed sharply across Kuvira’s face. “Did you say, Caldera?” She asked voice full of malice as her expression darkened.
Taken aback by her abrupt change in demeanor you tensed up, carefully answering her question. “Yes, do you know him?”
“Unfortunately I do, that man is the most disgusting, vulgar, perverted, piece of shit and sorry excuse of a human being. He loves to start drama and stir the pot with both faculty and students. I’ve sent so many complaints up to the board members from things I've witnessed and from others and they still haven’t got rid of him.”
“Well, he witnessed the whole ordeal. Actually, all this began because of him. It all started when he began accusing me of getting laid by some imaginary guy. A group of girls from the Alpha Delta pi sorority group overheard the conversation and said that if anyone wanted to bed me then they must be pretty desperate. I don’t even have a boyfriend and I haven’t been laid in god knows how long… So you know me being a smart ass and all I told them they probably fucked through half the campus, had STDs that we’re still unknown to scientists, and by the time old age caught up to them they would be so ragged and loose that not even their stepdad would want them.”
Kuvira bit down on her lip hard, trying her very best to suppress her laughter, but failed. She snickered loudly. She gathered her composure, drawing her hips into a tight smile. “Very well worded.”
“Glad you enjoyed it. The fist to my face wasn’t something I enjoyed though, but I guess I brought that on myself.”
“Y/N,” Kuvira said gently, her face full of compassion and empathy. “That was in no way your fault. Caldera had no right to talk to you like that. Neither did those bimbo sorry excuse of what we call sorority girls. I am sorry I wasn’t there to help but rest assured that I will be reporting this to the president, dean of the sorority group and will be giving a lengthy speech at the next board meeting. So please, put your trust in me and allow me to fix this.”
“I appreciate the help but don’t trouble yourself, it’s not worth the effort.” You said casting your eyes to the ground.
Strong hands took hold of yours, squeezing gently. “I am, and I will! No one should have to go through something like that. Especially somebody as hard-working, dedicated, and sweet as you.”
“I really do appreciate it. I just don’t want you wasting your time”
“You are not a waste of my time, actually if anything I enjoy having you around. You’re very funny, with excellent taste in music.”
“You know what I listen to?” You asked, surprised.
“Yes, I sometimes will screen monitor the computers to make sure that they are being used appropriately. You’d be surprised how many people think they can get away with watching porn in public.”
You chuckled nervously remembering the many obscene searches you had made on the library’s computer. The number of fanfics and erotic stores you read, praying that no one noticed made you wonder how much she actually knew.
“I don’t know about all that. I mean in a way the sorority girls are kinda right. They got the money, the clothes, the looks...I just have my books and my mind.”
“Hey Y/N, don’t listen to those girls… you are much more beautiful than they will ever be.”
“Am I really though?” You asked, challenging her response. “I mean I’m not dating anyone, I don’t have many friends and I’m a huge nerd. I don’t see how anyone could find me attractive. In a way, it doesn’t surprise me.
“There are more things in life that are much more fulfilling than to waste time trying to attract the attention of boys. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Good looks will only get you so far and if there is one lesson those girls could learn from you is that you are correct. Their good looks will only last for so long before age does catch up with them. When that time comes, they will realize the mistakes they have made in life.”
“I just wish I felt that way...it’s just difficult… especially when everyone else tells you otherwise.” You said, turning your attention away from Kuvira.
Kuvira released you and abruptly stood up, pushing the chair away. She reached out and turned on the small lamp on her desk before walking towards the door. She turned off the lights to her office.
“I think you’re attractive…” Kuvira said so softly, her voice barely above a whisper. It made you wonder if you heard her correctly or if you were just imagining it. It made you turn your attention back to her.
You heard the clicking sound of the door lock sliding into place. She turned around slowly, eyes locked onto yours. The low light from the lamp made her eyes glow in such a way that was mesmerizing and breathtaking. Her expression darkened in a way that it stirred something deep inside you, bringing out fantasies you knew wouldn’t ever happen in your wildest dreams.
You chuckled awkwardly before deciding to dismiss what Kuvira had said as pity. “I appreciate the compliment but there’s no need to lie to make me feel better.“
“Who says I’m lying?” Kuvira asked, eyes watching you carefully as she approached you. You could feel your heartbeat heavily in your chest with every step she took.
“Come on. Seriously Kuvira, how can you? Just look at me.”
Kuvira stood directly in front of you, towering over you. Her eyes never left your face.
“I am,” Kuvira said in such a tone you felt your body stiffen.
She rounded your chair, coming to stand behind you as you felt her hands resting on your shoulders.
“I’ve been watching you for quite some time Y/N.”
Kuvira leaned down, inches away from your ear, feeling her hot breath tickling your ear as she whispered. “And I know you have been too.”
You release a soft whimper, feeling your body heat up. You didn’t think it was obvious that you secretly had a crush on Kuvira, but learned at that moment how wrong you were. Trying to gain the upper hand, you tried to feign innocence.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about...” You said softly, your voice betrayed you coming out rather shaky that even you knew Kuvira would question the validity of your statement.
“Do you?” Kuvira whispered again, shifting slightly as she leaned into your other ear before continuing. “Because if watching me at a distance isn’t enough to convince me then maybe the trashy short stories that you’ve been writing and reading on the university’s computer is enough to tell me otherwise…”
Shit. You mentally cursed. Feeling the embarrassment gnawing at you as your face turned bright red. You had no idea she had seen them. How you wrote about her dark hair and pale green eyes. Wrote about the way her beauty mark made her hard features much softer, much more beautiful in your stories. How could you not? Kuvira was one of the reasons you always visited the library. You never thought she would find out.
“How?” You asked nervously, wondering if you could handle her response.
Kuvira chuckled before answering. “Because I see everything… I’ve been around long enough to know when someone has taken an interest in me romantically…”
Kuvira smoothed her hands slowly over your stiff shoulders before letting them fall away. She moved from behind the chair to stand in front of you, her hands coming up to grip the armrest of the chair you sat in trapping you in place as she leaned over, face inches away from yours.
Kuvira’s lust-filled eyes searched your face, slowly drifting over as her gaze fell upon your lips. She hesitated for a moment, appearing mentally conflicted, trying to decide what course of action she wanted to take. You bit your lip in anticipation, feeling yourself trembling with desire. You watched as Kuvira’s face darkened, her eyes grew more feral, fixated on your lips. Her hand reached out, tugging your lower lip free before coming up to cup your face.
“Don’t,” Kuvira whispered, her voice full of want. “It drives me insane when you do things like that.”
You let out a shaky breath at her admission. Growing heated at every passing second. You wondered if the temperature of the room was increasing or if it was just you. Nothing, absolutely nothing could prepare you the moment Kuvira crashed her lips onto yours, muffling your surprised gasp. Her kiss was rough, needy even, you couldn’t help but shutter. It was Kuvira who pulled away first, taking a moment to study your face for any signs of rejection. When she saw nothing but your flushed face, panting heavily, she rested her forehead against yours.
“Spirits Y/N, I’ve waited so long to do that.”
Before you could speak her lips were upon yours again, this time both hands coming up to cup your face. The tip of her tongue traced your lips, begging for entrance. You moaned softly, granting her wish. You felt her slip her tongue in seeking out yours. Kuvira couldn’t get enough of you. She enjoyed ravishing your mouth, she was so intoxicating, so divine, you couldn’t tell if any of this was real. You felt Kuvira’s hands settle on your waist, felt them slip underneath your shirt, slowly making their way up to your chest. You moaned into the kiss feeling strong hands cupping your breast, squeezing you gently. Kuvira loved how you fitted perfectly in her hands, loved how soft and silky smooth your skin felt under her palms. Kuvira nipped at your lower lip, using her teeth to snag your swollen lip, tugging at it gently. She trailed kisses down to your neck, there she sucked greedily at the skin. You cried out feeling Kuvira’s teeth sinking into your neck. She used her tongue to soothe the mark before peppering kisses over it, soothing the abused skin. Kuvira pulled away from you dropping onto her knees. Her hands seized your hips, pulling you closer to her as her fingers fumbled with the waistband of your pants. She managed to pry them open, dragging the zipper down. In sharp jerking movements, she pulled them down panties and all. You shifted so she could get them off easier. You watched as Kuvira removed your shoes, dropping them carelessly to the floor so she could fully remove your pants. She pushed them aside as she settled at your feet.
Her eyes peered up at you. You could see the hunger in them as she kissed your knees gently, causing your arousal to grow stronger. You felt her hands gliding up your legs, stopping at your lower thighs. Her fingers curled, gripping at your legs firmly. In one swift movement, she jerked your knees apart eliciting a surprised gasp from you as she settled in between your legs. Kuvira nipped and kissed your inner thighs, moving closer and closer to your throbbing center that ached for her touch. You whimpered, feeling her tongue peeked out to trace up your slit. Kuvira used the pads of her thumbs, opening you up to her. You could feel her hot breath between your legs. Kuvira’s eyes searched yours almost as if she was asking for permission. When you showed no signs of protest she leaned forward and tasted. You gasped sharply at the way her mouth ravished you. And ravished you she did, showing no mercy as she used her tongue, lips, and teeth to attack your core. You threw your head back in rhapsody, feeling that heat plummet south to your throbbing core, building up and bringing you closer and closer to your breaking point.
Your thighs closed in around Kuvira’s head. She pried you open, hands resting on your inner thighs as she continued her ministrations. You moaned loudly when you felt her tongue plunge inside you, the bride of her nose rubbing that tight bundle of nerves. It was then you felt yourself at your peak. You screamed out her name as you fell over, coming into her mouth as you felt your release wash over you. Kuvira eased you through your orgasm, lapping away greedily at your essence while your release raked through you. Your body went limp against the chair. Breath coming out deep and ragged. You watched through heavy-lidded eyes as Kuvira stood up, wiping the remains of you from her mouth as she leaned over you and kissed you hard.
She wasn’t done with you. She was determined to hear those noises again. Two fingers plunged into your core pumping into you. You tore away from her lips, choking back a moan. You felt your body shaking violently, her thumb circling that over-sensitive bundle of nerves as her fingers worked you. You felt your body tighten around her fingers sliding in and out of your wet aching core as she stared down at you, lust determined eyes watched you carefully. She leaned forward kissing your neck before she bit down hard. You suppressed a scream, nails digging into the armrest of the chair you sat on. Those clever fingers grew bolder, seeking out the very center of your being, curling upwards and shaking vigorously as incoherent noises escaped your lips. God Kuvira loved the sounds you were making. It was so intoxicating, so thrilling, it stroked a dark part of her ego knowing she could bring you under her control, could even get you to scream out her name. You tried to fight your orgasm, tried with every fiber of your being to hold on. But once Kuvira’s gaze shifted back to you, she leaned in, her face mere inches away from yours. “Y/N, I know you’re fighting me,” Kuvira said in a low voice that made your pulse quicken. “Let go. Come for me.”
As if your body had a mind of its own you obeyed, arching off the chair, your hips canting against her hand as you reached your breaking point. You cried out loudly as you felt your release crash over you so hard that you felt your body stiffen, your mind haze, and the room spinning around you. You felt her lips upon you again swallowing your cries of release as she eased you through your high. Your body fell back against the chair with a loud thud. You felt weak, heavy even. You opened your eyes to see Kuvira’s pale green eyes staring at you, a mischievous smirk graced her lips.
“So beautiful,” Kuvira whispered, leaning down to peck a quick kiss to your dry and swollen lips before straightening back up.
“Still think I’m lying?” She asked you, amusement evident in her voice.
“No.” You managed to say. Surprised by how small your voice sounded. You learned your lesson the hard way. You learned to never question Kuvira again.

Tumblr media
I learned that Laurie was one of those people that texted an upside-down smiley face to mean things like ‘no problem!’ and not ‘I’m dying inside!’ like the rest of the world. She and I had promised to keep in touch-- right before I’d had nearly forty uninterrupted minutes with Andy. Forty minutes that I had absolutely tried not to dwell on but had definitely spent way too much of my downtime dissecting. Laurie and I didn’t text one another constantly. Now and again she’d send me an article that she thought I might find interesting, or I’d link her to a podcast that I thought might suit her tastes. But Laurie was where my communication with the Barber family started and stopped for about two weeks. That is, until I got a call on my cell phone at 8:06 pm on Thursday from a number I didn’t know. I hesitated in picking it up -- it was rare that a client or a source called me that late unless it was an emergency. I was still at the office, and I was dreading the prospect of what had become a late night becoming an even later one. “Hello?” I answered it, grimacing. “You hungry?” Andy’s voice crackled over the line. My brow furrowed. “How did you get my number?” I asked. “From Laurie’s phone,” was his easy answer, “You hungry?” “Is this part of some kind of town-wide survey I don’t know about? Like is this where my tax-payer dollars are going?” “Yes or no, c’mon, I‘m getting cold out here.” I frowned, pushing myself up from my desk and walking over to the window. I looked outside to see Andy there, leaning against my car and looking up at the building. Why was he here this late? Shouldn’t he be getting home? Why was he even calling me-- “Give me five minutes,” I said. That talk that I’d given myself about boundaries hadn’t exactly sunk in.
-- “I don’t know,” Andy shook his head as he loosened his tie, “I mean on the one hand I’ve sort of mentored the guy, but... He’s been more outwardly ambitious lately. Not gunning for our boss’ job, but talking about what he’d do differently if he was in her position.”  “I mean, that’s not the worst thing in the world. I don’t always agree with Nora, sometimes there are things that I think she could be doing differently.” “Yeah, but do you go around to your coworkers and discuss them?” Andy asked. I shook my head. “Exactly,” He muttered before he picked his water up for a drink. I considered this for a moment. “Well... I think you have to decide what’s more important to you: your interpersonal relationships or office politics. You say you’ve mentored the guy-- ‘sort of’ mentored the guy, but he’s been vocal about disagreeing with you boss. If you stick too close to him, that could signal to your boss that you’re not on her side, even if you are,” I offered, “And it doesn’t mean that you can’t be friends with the guy, but sometimes that bit of distance is important.” God, did I sound like a fucking hypocrite or what? Our conversation was interrupted by our food arriving. “Alright, the fact that you have a ‘late-night usual’ here is making me a little worried,” Andy commented, watching as I picked up one of my fries. We’d wound up at Harvey’s Diner around the corner from my office building - which was only a few blocks from the court house. “We’re a small firm, sometimes things are all-hands-deck. And sometimes it’s not even work related, sometimes I just want a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato and like, ten o’clock,” I shrugged, “I have to call to get it delivered, they’re not on Seamless or anything. They know me.” "Well, that only makes me slightly less worried,” Andy said. I snorted. “Which is pretty hypocritical, considering the fact that you’re here right now,” I pointed out. “I mean, yeah, but I at least had to look at the menu,” Andy argued. “Whatever,” I waved it off, “What’s got you here so late, anyway?” “I had a conference call with a witness that’s in LA right now. They had to take a trip, family business,” Andy said. We both went quiet as we tucked into our food, I into my grilled cheese, and Andy into his burger. “How often would you say you stay at work late?” He asked. I folded my arms on the table, raising a brow. “Why do you ask?” “Just...Ballpark, how often would you say you’ve stayed late over the last couple of weeks?” I narrowed my eyes at him. This felt like a trap. “Ballpark? Three times.” “Eight,” Andy corrected. “Have you been spying on me? Weirdo,” I accused, pointing at him with a fry. “I drive past your office on my way home. Once I realized it was your car...” He trailed off, “I’m just saying, if I’m heading home before you do that often, there might be a problem.”  "We’ve been busy, is all. We’re in the process of hiring new people, but until we’re able to, the work still has to get done,” I excused. Andy’s leg brushed against mine under the table before it settled there, his foot hooking around the back of my ankle. I frowned at him, curious. “You’re too young to start burning out,” He chided softly. “I’m not burnt out yet. You can’t have this conversation with me for at least another week,” I teased, knocking my knee against his gently. He smiled, but he shook his head. "Yeah, well, I’d rather not worry about you the entire drive home for another week,” He said. I dropped my eyes to my plate, picking up another fry and swirling it around my little splodge of ketchup. “You don’t have to worry about me,” I absolved him. "Logically, no, I don’t. That doesn’t stop me from worrying, though,” He murmured. I chanced a glance at his face, and immediately realized I shouldn’t have - he was watching me with this almost nervous care, like he’d frighten me off if he spoke any louder or leaned in too close. And maybe he would. I was already alarmed by my rekindled interest in the guy. It was as hopeless as it was when I was younger. Nothing was going to happen between the two of us, no matter how much I thought about it. I shook my head. “You’ve got more important shit to worry about,” I passed it off before nodding to his burger, “Like your food getting cold.” “We need to have a serious talk about your self-esteem if you think you rank below a burger on my list of priorities,” Andy raised a brow. I shouldn’t even be on your list of priorities, I thought, and I was itching to say it, but instead I shrugged. “I just know my own worth and how good the burgers are here,” I said. Andy looked like he was preparing to wind up for another pass at whatever this conversation was. “What’d you wind up doing with that pro-bono case?” I asked, diverting him before he could say anything else. He cut me a look that told me that he knew exactly what I was doing, but he didn’t call me out on it. “I managed to talk my boss into taking the legalese case, backed it with the reasoning you and I talked about.” "Wow,” I said, brows raising, “She went for that?” "It was solid reasoning,” Andy defended, shifting in his seat and leaning back in the booth, “Besides, when we win, we can point back to the firm that gave us the defense.” “When, huh?” I repeated, “Someone’s feeling good about it.” ”Yeah, well, I know what I’m doing,” Andy said firmly. I shook my head at the cocky smile that had overtaken his face. “And that confidence, that’s never bitten you in the ass?” I asked. “Nope,” Andy said, popping the ‘p’ as he leaned forward, picking his water up. “Maybe I should’ve included the definition of ‘hubris’ somewhere in those slides,” I sighed, then gasped when Andy flicked the cold condensation from his glass at me. “Rude, Barber!” -- “What’d you forget?” Andy’s voice was close behind me as I pulled my ID badge out to swipe into my office building. I turned around to face him, frowning. “Ah...Nothing?” “Cause your car is right there,” He jerked his thumb over his shoulder. I folded my arms over my chest, giving him a stern look. “I still have work to do,” I reminded him. Andy sighed, lowering his eyes and shaking his head. “You should go home,” He argued. "I will, yeah, once I’m finished,” I agreed. I took another step back toward my building, adding, “Thank you dinner.” I watched Andy lift his eyes to mine before he sucked that plush lower lip between his teeth, clearly wanting to say something else. “Sure,” He said finally. He stepped closer, arms open, and I let myself be drawn into a hug, my face pressed into the collar of his peacoat. "Please don’t stay too late,” He urged quietly, breath ruffling my hair. “I won’t,” I mumbled, “It’s just some finishing touches on a few slides-- But if I tell myself I’ll do it in the morning, I’ll be up all night thinking about it.” Andy stepped back, looking down at me. He gave my arm a light squeeze before letting go. “Text me when you get home,” He said. I nodded, watching him walk away and immediately missing his warmth. -- (6:21 AM) AB: I never got a text and I’m hoping that’s not because you slept at your office. I had woken up to that text and had been almost stunned by it. Some part of me had almost thought that the night before had been some kind of ridiculous daydream, but there was Andy’s text, on my screen, chastising me for not keeping my promise. (7:39 AM) My desk chair actually folds out.
I’d sent the text off and gotten up, going about my morning routine. When I picked my phone up, I saw that I’d gotten a response, but I put off reading it. I didn’t want to get too used to this, this contact. It was better if my Barber interactions went through Laurie. I had spent far too long at my office last night mulling over our dinner, over Andy’s comment about his priorities, over the feeling of his leg resting against mine. I waited until I was back at my desk at nearly 9 to see what he’d texted me. (8:02 AM) AB: You’re kidding, but I wouldn’t put it past you. (8:33 AM) AB: ... You are kidding, right?
I held off answering until I’d settled in, checked my emails, gotten a few things sorted. (9:34 AM) Thanks again for dinner.
(9:36 AM) AB: You didn’t answer about the desk chair and now I’m really worried that you weren’t kidding. (9:46 AM) Shouldn’t you be in court? (9:47 AM) AB: Who says I’m not? (9:59 AM) Common sense, mostly.
(10:04 AM) AB: I’m in my office. (10:39 AM) AB: Hungry? (10:52 AM) Is that all you think about? Food? (11:03 AM) AB: We could grab lunch. I bet you have a regular lunch order at Harvey’s that I don’t know about. What was he doing? There was no way he was this worried about whether or not I was taking care of myself. A moment later, my phone buzzed again with a text from Laurie - a link to an upcoming exhibit at the Gardner Museum. And then a far more logical Andy-related conclusion popped into my head: maybe Laurie had mentioned that I seemed lonely (not having plans on a Friday night, learning that I worked late most nights if Andy had mentioned it to her), or had voiced some other concern, and this way his way of assuaging that. It seemed like something he’d do to make her happy. I sent Laurie a quick ‘thanks’ before I opened Andy’s the text, finally answering: (11:18 AM) Slammed with meetings today, brought my own. Thanks, though
(11:19 AM) AB: Maybe next time. (11:19 AM) AB: Don’t work too hard. I scoffed, setting my phone down with a mumble of, “Don’t tell me what to do.”

152 Black Christmas (74)
THEATRE:HOME - 2:150 (thanks pandemic)
I usually separate out docs and fiction, but I watched almost no documentaries this year (with the exception of Dick Johnston). Reality is real enough.
TV Series
01 - BoJack Horseman (final season) - Pretty damned poignant finish to the show, replete with actual consequences for our reformed bad boy protagonist (which is more than you can say for most antiheroes of Peak TV).
02 - *Hello Ladies - I enjoy the pure awkwardness of seeing Stephen Merchant try to perform being a Regular Person, but ultimately this show tips him too far towards a nasty, Ricky Gervais-lite sort of persona. Perhaps he was always best as a cameo appearance, or lip synching with wild eyes while Chrissy Teigen giggles?
03 - Olive Kittredge - a rough watch by times. I read the book as well, later in the year. Frances Mcdormand was the best, possibly the only, casting option for the flinty lead. One episode tips into thriller territory, which is a shock.
04 - *The Wire S3, S4, S5 - lockdown culture! It was interesting to rewatch this, then a few months later go through an enormous, culture-level reappraisal of cop-centred narratives.
05 - Forever - a Maya Rudolph/Fred Armisen joint that coasts on the charm of its leads. The premise is OK, but I wasn’t left wanting any more at the end.
06 - *Catastrophe - a rewatch when my partner decided he wanted to see it, too!
07 - Red Oak - resolutely “OK” steaming dramedy, relied heavily on some pretty obvious cues to get across its 1980s setting.
08 - Little Fires Everywhere - gulped this one down while in 14-day isolation, delicious! Every 90s suburban mom had that SUV, but not all of them had the requisite **secrets**
09 - The Great - fun historical comedy/drama! Costumes: lush. Actors: amusing. Race-blind casting: refreshing!
10 - The Crown S4 - this is the season everyone lost their everloving shit for, since it’s finally recent enough history that a fair chunk of the viewing audience is liable to recall it happening.
11 - Ted Lasso - we resisted this one for a while (thought I did enjoy the ad campaign for NBC sports (!!) that it was based on). My view is that its best point was the comfort that the men on the show have (or develop, throughout the season) with the acknowledgement and sharing of their own feelings. Masculinity redux.
12 - Moonbase 8 - Goodnatured in a way that makes you certain they will be crushed.
13 - The Good Lord Bird - Ethan Hawke is really aging into the character actor we always hoped he would be!
14 - Hollywood - frothy wish-fulfillment alternate history. I think the show would have been improved immeasurably by skipping the final episode.

PODCAST TRANSCRIPT - Nona Janssens
Other podcast transcripts: Veerle Dejaeger, Nora Dari, Nona Janssens, Nathan Naenen This is one of the literal transcripts of the wtFOCK cast podcasts by Ender Scholtens (’Gossip Guy’). You can watch it on YouTube with my contributed English subtitles as well. I didn’t put in any of the sounds, movements, hesitations or laughter, just the plain dialogue. Heads up: they never or barely mention the show, because they’re not allowed to (contract restrictions)!
--- “Nona Janssens: Do Tinder relationships work?” ---
Source: Gossip Guy - 1st of May 2020 (Podcast via webcam)
Nona Janssens: Hello! Ender Scholtens: Hey! Everything okay? Nona: Yes, you? E: Excellent, even. Nona: Should I sit somewhere else? E: You really don't have to. But do you have earbuds with a good mic? There is a bit of an echo. Nona: I always lose everything, I lost all my earbuds. I have some, I'll try them. E: Suspense... Nona: No, doesn't work, right? E: It actually does. Shall we get started? There are a bunch of fun questions. Nona: Exciting! E: Really exciting, even. Alright. Waddup people, welcome to a new episode of 'Gossip Guy’ podcast. My name is Ender Scholtens and today I’m here with Nona Janssens. Waddup, Nona, everything alright? Nona: Hallo, yes, yes. And you? E: Certainly, I'm happy you're in the podcast. For the people who don’t know you, could you introduce yourself? Where could they know you from? Nona: I play in a tv series for young people, whose name I cannot say. E: And we're not gonna talk about today. Nona: Exciting. No, yeah. But I don't think you know me from something else. E: Yeah, okay. No. Cool. I guess it's good summary, indeed. Nona: Yeah. E: So, I asked the people on Insta for some questions about you- or rather, for you. Nona: I'm very curious... E: Yes, you thought we wouldn't get a lot of them? Nona: No! I was seriously thinking: people are going to laugh at me, when he doesn't receive any questions. E: There are *still* some laughing at you, though.  Nona: Ah, yeah. E: No, no, no! But why did you think that? Nona: Yeah, I don't know. No, I'm curious. I think- Yeah... I don't know which questions they would- E: The kind of questions they would ask you? Nona: No. E: Now, I received- Around 200 questions. A lot about topics we're not gonna discuss. The C-word... And a tv series... Nona: Yes. Yes. E: Anyways, someone asked - since you're clearly an actress: 'Did you get any drama education'? Nona: No.  E: No? Nona: I've always done 'Diction' at the music school and stuff like that. E: Ok, cool. Nona: And in high school, I studied Modern- I mean, General Education. There I could pick four optional hours of theatre per week. So I did that. But I never went a 'real' drama school. Even though, I was very much interested, I did choose a different 'direction'. Just to have certainty. Although, I want to act for real in the future. E: Okay, okay, cool, I get that. Which 'direction' did you study in high school? Nona: Human sciences. With cultural education as an option. E: Okay. And 'Diction & drama', I did that too. All through high school. Loved it.  Nona: That's fun, right? E: Yeah, had a blast! Nona: Yeah, it's nice. E: Do you have any hobbies beside that? Since I received questions about youth movements? I think some people of *your* youth movement asked me questions? Is that possible?  Nona: I don't know, tell me their names. E: I'm not going to. But you're in a youth movement? Nona: Yes, yes. I'm in the 'Chiro'. E: Okay. Apparently you're playing a 'De Mol' (= 'The Mole') game at the moment? Nona: Ah, yes, we're playing 'De Mol' right now. [A popular reality game tv show]. I've seen * and she wanted to know who my 'mole' was. E: Okay! Nona: I'm not... going to say that... That wouldn't be good... If I already revealed my 'mole'. E: Sounds very logical. Ah, here. Let's ask this question to be done with it, it's been asked a lot: 'Are you single?' Nona: No, no, I have- I have a partner. E: Okay. Is this something that can be revealed to the public, otherwise I'll cut this part out? Nona: Yeah, of course, that's totally okay. Doesn't matter that much. E: No, that's usually something I ask beforehand. But I forgot. Not everyone likes to talk about relationships. Which I get. Been with your boyfriend for a long time? Nona: Yes, almost two years now. E: Wow, solid! Cool. Nona: Great, huh? We're doing well, right? E: Yeah, you go! Fantastic! Here, other people who are interested in your hobbies: 'Did you ever dance?' Nona: Yes, I did. I've done a lot- a lot in my life. I did dance, Chiro... Now not much extra... E: Dance, Chiro, music school... Were you one of those kids in primary school, whose week was filled to the brim? Nona: Yes, indeed. I did some sports too. Yet, every two years, I got bored and changed to something else. E: I'm laughing, but I was exactly the same. I've done- What did I- Tennis, hockey, volleyball, golf. I did a lot. Nona: Same, every time something different. E: What's your favorite? The one you really loved doing? Nona: Dancing, I did the longest. Still love doing it. I don't really do it anymore in a fitness or something... Always been the most fun. But I did every sport you'd ever imagine. For example, horseback riding. After a few weeks, I thought 'no'. 'No thanks!' At least I tried it. Oh god... I don't even know why. I don't like horses anyways. Still... Wanted to do it. Probably since my friends did it. E: Just checking where the hype of typical 'horseback girls' came from? Nona: Exactly. Didn't get it! E: Honestly... I don't get it. In movies, it always looks so cool. A man on a horse. Yet, in real life? People laugh if you say: "I do horseback riding". Nona: A 'horseback girl'. E: Although, it's fucking cool in movies. At least I think so. Nona: I think so too. Yet, it's not my thing. E: Prince Charming on his white horse, must've said the same thing, right? "I'm going to my riding lessons". People laugh. Still, everyone wants a Prince Charming. Nona: Yes! E: You said you wanted to be- You didn't get any drama education, but you want to act in the future? Do you have international ambitions, something in foreign countries? Hollywood, for example? Is that the dream? Or do you want to stay in Belgium? Nona: I would be happy already if I ever succeeded in Belgium. E: Yeah, I thought- My question was all over the place. Since everyone would like to succeed here, right? Nona: Yes, but- I'm not that fluent in a lot of languages! Not my greatest strength. I might be able to do it, but then I'll probably keep thinking: 'Is this correct?' or 'How should I say this?' I would get sick due to stressing too much! So I don't know if that's in my future. E: And are there any productions in Belgium, where you thought: 'Cool, I want to act in that?' Because I- There have been recent movies like 'Patser' and all that. I was really impressed. 'That's from Belgium?! That's fucking cool! So good!' Nona: Yes... E: Has there been a recent project, where you wanted to say the same thing? 'Wow, that's really cool to join'? Nona: Yes, right now, for instance 'De Dag', 'De Twaalf', ... Those kind of shows are great. If I could play in a series like that, I would be super happy. Yeah, those things certainly interest me... Super fun. E: Funny coincidence, I've interviewed one of the actors of 'De Dag' - Nabil - for a new Netflix series. Nona: Really? E: Yeah. Honestly, I was a bit starstruck in the beginning. My first question was really... bleh! I stumbled over my words. I hope they'll edit it to make it seem more spontaneous. Exceptionally friendly dude, by the way! Seriously.  Nona: Yeah? E: Every time- That's- For example, we're seeing each other for the first time. We're 'meeting'. In a way. It's a risk every time. Because you don't know... How someone really is. You never know. You see an online persona, someone in a series, or whatever, it's always... Hard to tell... how they'll be in real life. Nona: Certainly in a- You know their character isn't real, but still, if you meet them in real life, you keep thinking that they'll be somewhat similar. E: That's- Nona: It is. E: Indeed, indeed. Nona: Weird, huh? Yes. E: Do you think it's difficult for a lot of actors? Like, for instance, Game Of Thrones. Have you seen that? I don't know if you did. But the actor playing King Joffrey, a boy who's gotten hate in the show from episode one, received a lot of hate *in real life* too. Nona: That's weird, huh? E: Do you think that happens a lot? Nona: With 'Thuis' too, if they do something in the soap, I've heard that they get verbally attacked on the street. I didn't get that. My character gets a lot of hate, but I haven't gotten any of that, fortunately. E: Not in real life? Nona: No, but it happens often, you know, people really think you're like that... I've struggled with it, though. That if I go somewhere, I want to show *even more* that I'm different from my character. E: Okay. So you're faking a personality right now? That you-  Nona: Oh, no! No, no, no, I'm not doing that. But yeah... E: I'm just joking. Nona: Imagine. No. E: I know that. Do you experience difficulties in separating the art from the artist? Not only acting, but music too? For example, 'Justin Bieber is awesome' and then every bit of his music is awesome? Or 'I don't really like that artist, so his music is bad'?  Nona: No... E: No? Nona: No, I don't have that... It's not because they put out a bad song... If they produce a bad song, even if it's a good artist, I'll still say it. Then, then... Yeah... E: No, okay, alright. Are you a 'Belieber', by the way? Nona: No! E: No?  Nona: No, not really no. E: I am, that's why I'm asking. Or actually, I was more of a 'Belieber' during 'Purpose' and now with the new album... That's why I asked you, because I really *wanted* the album to be good. And then- Nona: Do you have that experience? Or do you separate it? E: The moment I heard the question for the first time - I've used it multiple times in my podcasts, it's an interesting question - I actually had to think... 'Am I listening to the music or the artist?' Am I- As... With someone like 'Russ' - a rapper that gets plenty of hate, the rap world hates the dude or idk - it might be easy to say "Fuck him and his music", while you could still hate the artist and like his music. Or love a song. So I never said 'Fuck that dude', but it made me think: 'Okay, do I listen to the music or the artist?' Nona: I don't have that. E: No? Nona: No. Great right?  E: Cool. Super, even. Nona: But I really don't have an artist that I'm crazy about. I listen to various genres, so I've never experienced that. E: Even better! Nona: Great, huh? E: Nice, nice. Someone asked to talk about social media. A topic I often explore in my podcasts. But... I don't want to drag it out. Since people made me aware of that fact. However, it's still an interesting topic and certainly for someone in a position like yours. Who gets a lot of attention on the socials. How do you deal with that? Do you feel like there are a lot of eyes on you? 'I should be careful of what I post'? How do you feel about it? Nona: I have... mostly... I'm like... There are people who always take good pics,  everything they post is amazing, and I'm like: 'I can't!" I want to try, but I don't know how! Someone told me I should do more with my social media, ask more questions, stuff like- E: Engagement with your audience? Nona: Yes! Things like that. But most of the time, I'll think of the people in my small town, who will laugh at me if I try to do that! Even if I do it as fancy as the others. I- I- I want to, but I don't seem to succeed! E: I get that. I have- What I personally- Last time, I saw on your profile that you sometimes - since I put it in my story for the questions - have beautiful, serious pictures. The one in black-and-white? Fucking cool! Because of you, I've posted a similar picture.  Nona: Really?! E: Yeah, it's *really* difficult for me. Sorry, I can't keep my face straight. I laugh all the time. If the photographer asks me: 'Give me a serious look.' I can't! Nona: Yeah. E: Do you have the same? Can you keep a straight face in front of the camera? Nona: I try to, because I keep thinking about how the pictures might turn out. E: So you have the goal in mind? Nona: I do. I laugh too, though, but I try to stop it. E: What you said about the people in your town: they might think it's weird if you're into social media... But it's not a secret anymore that you've... acquired some level of fame, right? So isn't posting on your socials considered normal? More accepted? Nona: Yeah, maybe... Yet, I still don't know what to do. I'm not good at that! I don't know *what* to post. Or something. Yeah, I should research that... E: Searching what you want to do. Nona: Yes. E: Okay, nah. Okay! A deep question... You don't have to have an answer. I wouldn't even know how to answer this myself. 'If you could turn back time, is there something you would change? What you did?' Heavy, huh?! Nona: Yes, never thought about that. E: Maybe to this morning, then I could ask Nabil the first question without stuttering. That's it. Nona: But yeah... What could I change? No, actually... If you do something wrong, I still think you learned a lesson. I couldn't think of something. Maybe later, when this is done. Not now. E: Like 'Ah, shit, shouldn't have said that'? Nona: Yes, indeed. E: I have the same feeling with a tv program that will be released soon. I totally forgot I filmed that. It's about... It'll be clear, when it appears online. But I totally forgot that I filmed it. I wasn't thinking then about the things I said and what they'll do with it. Not that I said mean things, but personal stuff. And then suddenly, you realize that it'll appear online. Literally everyone could see this. That's crazy. Maybe I shouldn't have said this now, but when it gets released. In a clear way. But I get what you mean. Like 'shit...' Nona: I have that *often*. Or when you were little, during fights, not knowing what to say until you're done. "Ooooh, I could have said that!" E: That moment. That moment! When you're in your bed and think: "Shit! That's it!" Nona: And it's a good one!? "Oooooh, I should have said this!" E: Usually the comebacks you see in movies. "If I had said this, it would've been a movie scene". Some time ago, I saw an online video about a so-called UFO. Every so often, there is always a video circulating.Always fucking vague, I don't know why we still don't have high quality cameras to capture a UFO in detail. But someone here is asking: 'Do you think there's life beyond Earth?' Nona: On the one hand, I don't think it's possible. On the other hand, we can't be the only living things that exist. E: Why do you think it's *not* possible? Nona: Yeah... yeah, I don't know.  E: Because we haven't seen it?! Nona: Yes, it would be a coincidence if we're the only living things, but on the other side I think- I mean, I don't believe the vague UFO images. I *really* don't believe that. But I mean... Some other life forms, not aliens or stuff like that. E: Rather some kind of microbes that live somewhere? Nona: Yes. E: Okay. Nona: Yeah, things like that. You? E: So... not something with the same brain capacity as us? Living the same way?  Nona: I think it's- I think- Yeah, not at the moment. If it does exist, then I would- Ah yeah. I don't know. Difficult. What do you think? E: Of course, it's all speculation! I can't say: you're wrong! What the fuck do I know? Nona: Yeah, nah. E: That's why I think it's interesting! But it's weird to assume that we- Do you know those videos were they start with 'the Earth' and then zoom out? The Earth compared to the sun. The sun compared to this, this and this. When you realize: 'WTF, how fucking small is Earth, how fucking small are we?' Then I can't imagine that in the whole entire universe, we're the only ones. Nona: It can't be. E: With the same intellectual level as we are. Nona: Ah, yeah... E: Crazy to think about it. Weird, right? Only two o'clock and we're already theorizing. I think it would be cool if... That's something I want to experience:  the first interaction with extraterrestrial life. If that ever happens, that would be phenomenal.  Nona: That would be... wow... E: That's probably something that would bring together humanity. Realizing that we, as humans, are one. We have to- There are others out there. I don't know...it's... By the way, there are a lot of compliments in here. About you. About your acting. I'll send them to you. They're adorable. Nona: Aaawww... Thank you! E: Something I forgot to ask you: you said you've done Human Sciences? So follow-up question: What are you studying right now? Are you a student? Nona: Yes, I study 'Remedial Education'. E: Okay, why that choice? Nona: I studied 'Criminology' last year in Leuven. But... Yeah, I think it's a shame, but I simply... Don't. Study. E: Okay. Nona: Seriously, I can get really angry at myself, but I don't do anything for school. If I get an assignment, then I'll start it at the due date. I want to change, but I can't. So I didn't do anything that year, still had loads of fun. E: As you should! Nona: So now I do 'Remedial Education'... And there... I have the end trajectory of 'Applied Juvenile Criminology'. Still in the same field and yet, the studies are far more interesting. I think it's - I'm *so* happy I changed. Oh yeah, really, I am. I need that, knowing what I'm studying for. I didn't have that in 'Criminology'. Now, in 'Remedial Education', everything we learn there, I know why. There are goals, why we learn it. I can remember the materials better. E: So, what's the goal exactly? Do you have an idea what you want to be later on? Nona: No.  E: No? Nona: I still want to be an actress. If it doesn't happen, then I don't know what... E: Yes, yes. Nona: Actually, within the 'direction' I study, almost every job is... somewhat interesting. I could be happy in a lot of jobs, I guess. E: Okay. Yeah, I'm asking in detail, because there are people listening to this podcast, who will have to make a choice in one or two years about what to study. That's why it's always interesting to ask a student- Nona: I would like to say something! For me, the exams are easier now, but you'll have way more work in university college than university. Since it seems easy, the way I told- E: No, no. Nona: You'll have to work harder in university college, more assignments, but for me, the exams are just easier now. My study has a six-week-system. [New modules with finals every six weeks]. So less tough. That's better for me. I can remember more. In short, I'm working harder for school. Not to minimize- E: No, no, no. Nona: As if I don't do anything... E: What you said about the purpose, why you study those topics. What the goal is of a certain class. Is it because they are less abstract graphs or something? Or literally: 'this class is named...' I don't know which classes you take, but that it's... Nona: No, there are similar classes to those I had last year,  but... Just... What we learn, is way more specific. Less 'general'. In uni, we had 'History’. I get the importance, but you don't do anything with that, later on. Now, when we have 'Psychology', those are exactly the things we'll apply. Useful for the future. E: Okay, super. Super. Now a question, that could piggy back onto the previous topic. A girl - also an actress - asks: 'Would you drop out, if you got a role,  where the combination studying-acting isn't possible?' Nona: Yeah, I thought about that.  E: Thought about it? Nona: I got lucky before, I was able to combine both. I don't always have to be in class. Self study is achievable. On my own. If attendance is not required, naturally. So yeah... I've thought... That's really... You have to think long and hard about that. Then I might think: 'That's my dream!'. But afterwards, when the series or project is done, I've got nothing. I didn't do drama school either. I wouldn't have a diploma. E: You have to have a back-up, right? Nona: Hopefully, you can keep going. If not too much time passed by, I think you can go back to school? I hope so. I think I would, if I know I can come back to where I left off. I would. E: Okay, nah, cool. I guess people our age, who do something creative, might think a lot about dilemmas like that. Nona: Yes. E: They say the same thing. That they would like to finish their studies, but if the opportunity of a lifetime arises... I get that. I had a good question, but I scrolled past it. Quite a few people are asking the same thing. I once posed this question to someone during a podcast and now it keeps coming back. They ask: "If you had to describe yourself in one word..." "What would that word be?" One word is not much. Someone else is asking three words. Let's say three words. That's such a yearbook question. Nona: Questions you need to answer often and I still don't know the answer to them. E: You should have it ready in your head. Nona: Always be prepared. E: That's like: "What's your positive and negative quality?" I never know! Nona: Yes, honestly, negative - no problem. But positive? E: Really bad, right? Quite a few people feel that way. "I'm bad at this, at this." "And now something positive?" Nona: "Euh, yeah..." Nah, I am... I think... Usually... Spontaneous. E: That was very spontaneous of you! Nona: Should it be a deep answer? No, right? E: No. Nona: Friendly. And... Two, is that enough? Or still going for three? E: Thats... You may stop at two, for me. Nona: I can say a lot of negative stuff. E: We'll try and keep it positive. Nona: Lazy... E: Nah, let's be positive! Some questions make me wonder... Funny, though! "What do you think 'week animals' (= mollusca) do in the weekend?" Okay... The same person as the funny question, but this one is important for me. I often have a discussion about the topic, with my mom. "What's your favorite chips flavor?" Nona: Super bad, but I only like paprika chips. E: Paprika, I can live with that. Salt is the most boring variant there is. Sorry to those who prefer salt... Nona: Yeah... E: You like that too? Nona: I could eat it. Yet, if I have had to choose, of course I'll go with paprika!  E: How can I stop this podcast... ? No, no. Nona: Paprika, no doubt about it! And you? E: I like plenty of variants. There aren't many I don't like. That's why I think: there are so much flavors. A world of choices. Large shelves. Filled with options. And then you go for salt?! Nona: Yeah... But I meant, not- At parties, for example, you can't go wrong? E: Fact. Big chance that people go for any chips, if they wanted to. Most of them will. Nona: That's important. E: True. My tactic in the past, when going on a bus trip or camp or school trip - I don't know what, I took chips with me that nobody would like, so I could eat it all by myself. Nona: You liked them yourself? Otherwise, that's not clever. E: I'm not a picky eater. I could eat salt chips. I just think if you have the choice, then why go for that? Yet, there are still people who go for basic. I get that. That happens. So, Pringles - Sour cream and onion. The smell alone, people hate it. I love it. Your face! Nona: Never tried it, but I don't know if I want to. E: Yeah, I love it, it's great. Quite a few who hate it. Nona: With so many flavors, once you open the bag, I'll... It can smell *so* bad. E: When I was little and tried to hide my chips from my parents, I would put the bag behind the sofa. Then my parents would enter: "Are you eating chips?" Nona: Chips is one of the hardest foods to hide. E: The crunch is too loud. Nona: Opening the bag... Yeah, then it'll be too late. E: Exactly. Again, hobby questions. I don't know... How many do you have? Did you put pics of it online? You seem to like skiing? Nona: Yeah, yeah, yes, the most fun one. E: Okay.  Nona: It's amazing.  E: How long have you been doing it? Every year... ? Nona: From age four. E: Cool! Me too. Same. Nona: Yes, fun. E: Did you ever do Austrian skiing school? Or with- Nona: No, always Flemish instructors. E: Okay. Nona: I think it's- If you ever feel bad about yourself, go skiing! You can't think about anything else, because you have focus on so many other things:  not falling, not crashing, following the right path. You can't concentrate on anything else. The perfect solution when feeling bad. E: I agree completely. Why I asked about the Austrian ski school... As a three or four-year-old little guy, in a ski school filled with all German speaking children... Nona: I did it once when I was little. Bad, huh? E: I couldn't handle it. E & Nona: I cried so much! [said at the same time] Nona: Yes! Bad right?! E: Yeah. But It's just- I mean, you can't ski, can't talk to others who can't ski either. Everyone is talking, you don't know what they're saying, 'are they talking about me?' Nona: You go to the lessons to learn things, but you can't understand what they're teaching you! E: Exactly! Then they suddenly said: "Go into a pizza shape! Let your skis touch like this!" First, I was just copying it with my hands. Then he skied backwards to show the shape, but backwards. Just a point! So I turn, go backwards too. The instructors go ballistic, they were angry at me. What do you do, as a small child? Nona: Fortunately, I just did it once. You don't really learn from them, right? E: Good for you. Indeed. I've got another question. Separately. You've got a boyfriend, so maybe it doesn't apply to you. But I've had fun on Tinder, recently. I get some funny pick up lines on the regular. Did you have a Tinder profile?  Were you ever active on it? Nona: No, never. E: Okay. Nona: I saw my friends' profile, just for laughs. But I really don't know how it works. E: The funny thing is, everyone does it for the laughs. They'll send a message, because 'it's just a Tinder match'. If everyone does it for fun, then we're still going about it in a serious way? Nona: Yeah... Do you have it? E: I have it. I just don't send a lot, just here for the pick up lines. I'm exactly the person I bitched about before: doing it for the fun. Nona: Do you start or the other person? E: I've never send anything myself. I would want to, though, since it's a good topic for a video or something. Just recently, I asked for pick up lines, so I could use them. But I haven't gotten the time to do it. In the meantime, I just answer to the messages they send me. Still nice. So you weren't a fanatic Tinder user, before? Nona: No, really, never. I wouldn't know how to use it. I've seen the process on a video, or something. Yet... E: Do you believe that... relationships formed through Tinder, could be good? Nona: Yes, I do. I think so. E: I think so too! There is always such a stigma surrounding it. Nona: That's not true, because if you go on a date, you still get to know each other? E: See? That's the answer I would say too. Nona: It's still a thing: 'Where did you guys meet?' 'Tinder'. Then everyone laughs at you. I think a lot of people make up stories. E: Make up different things. 'Yes, in the library.' Nona: 'What should we say?' E: See? Like that! Where did you met your boyfriend? Nona: We've been classmates since primary school. But I didn't really know him. Now- No, I mean, two years ago, he was also a 'Chiro' leader... E: So... Tinder? No, no. Okay, we've been talking for a while now. Is there something you would like to - Wow, my voice. Stuff you'd like to say? What you thought about recently? Something people should know? What people should know... About you or about life? Wisdom to share? Nona: No, don't have that. E: 'I don't have wisdom'. Nona: No, but I was- Before this conversation, I thought about how awkward I was going to be. E: No, of course not. Nona: Honestly, it takes a while. Fortunately, you're alone. But in group? I'm very uncomfortable, very quickly. It takes a while before I can be myself. I get so angry at myself. "Just be yourself" and then it doesn't happen. It takes so much time. I really get annoyed at that. E: Were you able to be yourself now? Nona: Yes, yes. If it's one person, I can. With a group, however... E: Can I be honest? I never told this. I'm exactly the same. People always think I'm super smooth. I'm only outgoing when I can talk one-on-one. It's easier. Nona: Right? E: Yes. Put me in a group and I certainly don't stand out. I'll wait and see. I'll try to read people. Who would laugh with this and that? And then I might talk. I won't be the loudest screamer. Nona: No, that's... Yeah... It might even happen that, in a group, I'll never be truly myself. Then I think- I don't know- It's not the people- No, probably is, but I don't know what's stopping me. That's really super... crazy, actually. When I finally can be myself, I think people think: 'I want to be the same. Speak my mind.' It has to develop, though. E: I feel you. Completely the same. It still happens with the people I know. I've had great one-on-one conversations with them. Yet, when they're together in a loud group, I still struggle. 'I know these people, they're my friends. I can talk to them.' Then trying to shout something in that group? Still... 'I'll keep quiet'. Nona: So crazy. Especially when they're all immediately themselves, from the first second. Loud and all that. Respect. I would love to be the same. But that makes it harder. 'Shit, I wouldn't dare to...' 'I don't know what to say' E: Indeed. Indeed. I feel you. I think a lot of people have this, we're not the only ones. Nona: No, and I think that, when you get older, it will probably pass. E: I think so too. You'll care less and less about what people think, after a while. Focussing more on people where you truly can be yourself. Okay, what a nice touch, to end the podcast on. Nona: Right? E: Super. I would like to thank you for stopping by. Is there-  'Stopping by', I say. Quotation marks. Are there accounts where they can follow you? Something you're doing? Where you'll post stuff? Nona: No, I'm not doing anything. I'm mostly focussing on school. E: As you should. Nona: And, yeah... the rest, not really... Bad, right? E: Instagram @nonajanssens? Nona: Yes! E: TikTok? Nona: No! E: No TikTok? Nona: I have it, but I don't use it. I've posted one video, where people- I'm in it too. I've got a lot of videos in which people fall. Coincidentally, I'm always the one filming it. E: Okay. Nona: And I've mixed them together. Everyone's falling. That's not really me. No dance video or something. E: No TikTok dancing? Nona: But I love watching stuff. E: Yeah, no, there are- Nona: So much fun stuff. E: The hours fly by if you scroll, that's crazy. Nona: Indeed. Sometimes I think 'Oof', but sometimes things are so funny. I have so much fun with that. E: Sometimes you think: 'People share too much on this app'. I feel you. Nona: That's true. E: I've said it too many times in a short period of time: 'I feel you'. I never say that. But 'I feel you', so... So, Nona Janssens, on Instagram and Twitter? You use that? Nona: Yes. E: Perfect. Thank you very much. Oh shit, I forgot, I have to give a Twitter shoutout! I'll do this quickly. You've probably seen it. So, one of the retweets. Follow and retweet the tweets @gossipguypodcast, if you ever want a shout out. The shout out of this week is 'Astrid', '@Houdjou'. Thank you for listening, Astrid. Thanks for talking to me, Nona! Nona: You're welcome! E: Until next Monday! Peace! Nona: Bye! E: Now I can stop the recording.

A Little Push
Sooo.... I’m obsessed witht the idea of Emma and Zoey as friends who won’t admit it, and, well, after writing many bants for them, this suddenly had to happen. You can blame @bi-gstupid and @nocoffeeforoldmen for enabling me.
Content: Zoey/Emma, drinking, casual hook up, mild sexual content, hints of Paulkins in the end bc they are soulmates ok? ----
Thinking back on it, Emma should have known they were heading towards this. However, it still took her by complete surprise when it happened. She glanced to her left, where Zoey was dozing off, with her hair splayed out over all the many pillows, under the sheet that didn’t fully cover her breasts. Huh.
They had been out drinking. A tradition they had developed over the last month and a half. Nora had broken her ankle and while she stayed at home, she had left Zoey in charge. On paper that sounded horrible, but since Zoey now was the boss, she had no one to suck up to, and that made her a lot more tolerable. Emma almost even enjoyed their shifts together. Not fully though, since Zoey and her friends were doing a production of Les Mis and Zoey would sing the Fantine songs over and over. But Zoey was a good drinking buddy. Hot enough to get free drinks and not selfish enough to abandon Emma for just anybody. She held her liquor well and talked shit about the other people in the bar.
Today they had been drinking beers mostly and having a laugh over that customer guy who was interested in Emma and not very subtle about it, but never got the nerve to do more than polite small talk. It was somewhat endearing, and it wasn’t like he was unattractive. Emma kind of enjoyed the polite small talk. He usually let her vent a little over whatever annoyed her that day. Zoey kept insisting she should date him. Or, in her words, totally bone him.
“I’m not gonna bone him,” Emma insisted.
“You’re so boring,” Zoey said and emptied the beer glass in front of her. Then she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. Classy. “He really looks like he could use a good roll in the hay.”
“And therefore, I should do it?” Emma asked, eyebrow raised. She lifted her own glass and took a sip.
“You also need a good roll in the hay,” Zoey said with a sly grin. “Finish your beer, old lady. I’m getting us another round.” Then she stood up and left Emma to fume over being called an old lady. The other round turned out to be drinks this time. Then another beer. Another drink.
And suddenly it was the middle of the night and Emma was feeling perfectly drunk and ready to lie down. They emptied their glasses and got up, gathering their things. Outside a light drizzle was in the air. It felt nice and cool on Emma’s face and she stood for a moment with her eyes closed and enjoyed the sensation on her skin. A cool breeze brought out goosebumps on her arms and legs. She felt less tired now.
She opened her eyes and looked up at Zoey. “Wanna split a cab?” she asked.
Zoey looked at her for a moment, an expression in her eyes Emma couldn’t read. Her gaze travelled up and down Emma’s body and she bit her lip. And then, instead of answering, she had stepped forward, leaned down and kissed her.
What the fuck?
Emma froze, taken by surprise by the softness of Zoey’s lips. Zoey pulled back and gave her a questioning look. Almost defiantly asking Emma what she was going to do now. Emma stared at her, lips parted and heart pounding. Then she placed her hand on Zoey’s neck and pulled her into another kiss.
Zoey didn’t hesitate and immediately wrapped an arm around Emma’s waist, while deepening the kiss. She tasted like her last drink – rum and coke – and she smelled nice. Her body was soft and curvy against Emma’s, but there was nothing soft about the way she kissed. It was needy and hungry, with tongue and a hint of teeth. After several minutes of kissing and hands that got more and more curious, Zoey pulled back and with heavy breathing said, ‘I would like to split a cab.”
And that was how Emma found herself in Zoey’s apartment, making out against a hallway closet. It had been ages since she last hooked up with a girl, let alone someone she knew already, but Zoey’s feverish kisses, and hands under her shirt were causing her blood to boil and her body to yearn for more.
They were both still in their Beanies uniforms and Emma started to undo Zoey’s buttons fast and pushing the shirt off her shoulders, exposing creamy skin and a thin lacey bra. She trailed her fingers down the exposed chest, ghosting past the nipples and continuing down her stomach.
Zoey was undeniably hot. Pretty face, and annoying and distracting mouth and nice legs. Her eyelids fluttered as Emma touched her and it was incredibly satisfying to look at. Zoey kissed her again, more urgently, shoving her hand into Emma’s shorts, not even bothering to open them.
They stumbled backwards through the apartment, until Zoey opened what Emma assumed was the bedroom door. Zoey didn’t hesitate, shoving Emma unto the bed and straddling her, sending her a victorious eyebrow waggle.
They ended up having sex for what felt like hours. Whenever one of them was done, the other one took over. It was practically a competition to see who could give the other the most and the best orgasms. Finally, they both rolled away and caught their breaths.
“Sex with women is so fun,” Zoey grinned, lifting her head and resting on her elbow. “I’ve always wondered what sleeping with an older woman was like.”
Emma crossed her arms and frowned. “I’m not that much older than you.”
Zoey just giggled. “You take everything so seriously.” Then she stretched out on her back and closed her eyes. “Goodnight, Emma.”
Well, that was that Emma supposed. She just fucked Zoey from work. Zoey, who was rude and lazy and flirted with customers to get more tips and always sang some new musical theater song or practiced scales. Zoey, who was the only person she knew, who matched her level of shit-giving, who was really hot and a good kisser. Emma hadn’t thought of their bickering as flirting, but maybe it had been. There was some tension between them and now they had acted on it.
She fell asleep after turning around a few times to get comfortable, and woke up to sunlight and an arm stretched out over her. She turned her head and groaned at the sight of Zoey behind her.
“Move,” she said, lifting her arm off.
“Sorry,” Zoey mumbled and rolled away, “I’m used to spooning my boyfriend.”
“Your boyfriend?” Emma asked.
“Sam is kind of my boyfriend. I don’t know. We’re not exclusive, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Zoey answered, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. “He gives good dick. But you were much better at oral,” she winked. Emma rolled her eyes.
“Oh really? The gross cop dude isn’t good at going down on women? I’m shocked,” Emma said sarcastically.
“Was that your way of saying thank you Zoey, you were good too?”
“Thank you, Zooeeeey, you were good too,” Emma mocked. Zoey threw one of her many pillows after her.
“Anyway, I’m glad it’s not weird. You’re an asshole, but I really wanted to fuck you,” Zoey said, standing up and walking naked around her room, picking up discarded clothes. There were a few marks on her from last night.
“Likewise, I guess?” Emma shrugged, “we agree this was just fun, right? Not a big deal?”
“Of course,” Zoey grinned, “sex is no big. Speaking off, you really should fuck the guy from Beanies.”
“But now I have gotten that roll in the hay,” Emma said with a smirk, “so now there is no reason.”
“Babe, there is always a reason,” Zoey winked, pulling on clean underwear. “I just got your machine started again. You’ll wanna get laid again in no time.”
Emma bit her lip as she thought it over. What the fuck was she talking about? “Did you-“
“Oh, fuck you, you gave me hickeys,” Zoey said, inspecting herself in the mirror. Emma smirked.
“And you fucking liked it,” she responded, climbing out of the bed. Zoey had been whimpering and begging for more when she gave them. From the look in Zoey’s eyes, she remembered as well. Emma went searching for her clothes and got dressed quietly. She really needed to brush her teeth. Zoey walked her out, still only dressed in underwear.
“See you at work,” she said, and Emma did finger guns back at her.
“See you,” she replied.
She spent the day sleeping eating greasy carbs and then more sleeping. She woke up to her Monday shift. It was one of the long days and she wasn’t looking forward to it. Zoey was in the break room, grinning when she saw her arrive. She hadn’t buttoned her shirt yet and the hickey was visible. Emma got images of her mouth against Zoey’s skin and her hand between her legs. She exhaled and fought the sudden arousal at the thought.
The customers kept coming, everyone else was clearly as tired and in need of coffee this Monday as she was. Emma noticed several cute girls, with pretty eyes and full lips, in dresses that hugged their curves. She noticed a few men, with sharp cheekbones or nice shoulders. Zoey was right, her machinery had started back up. A customer spilled a little as he took his frappe, and Emma wiped the table down.
“Hi,” a nervous voice said, and she looked up into remarkably blue eyes, “I’ve got an easy one for you. Just a cup of black coffee.”
Emma smiled at him, and it made his whole face light up. She poured him the coffee, keeping an eye on him at the same time. He was tall and cute. She accepted the payment, noticing his impressive full lips and that he had broad shoulders underneath the suit jacket. When she handed him the coffee, his fingers brushed against hers and she felt tingles run from her fingertips up to her elbow.
Maybe Zoey was right?
“I see you in here all the time, don’t I?” she asked, “what’s your name?”
“Paul,” he answered, offering her a small and sweet smile.
“Hi Paul,” she said, “I’m Emma.”

r/RWBY AMA Highlights
Tumblr media
For those who weren’t aware, r/RWBY did an AMA with the voice actors of the Ace Ops early this morning :) I wanted to share some of their answers here for ya’ll in case people didn’t feel like trekking through the thread. Here are some of the Q&As that I found fun/the most interesting! These are just my personal highlights, by the way! :)
First, some introductions (I put the character next to the name but...just in case I mess up):
Tumblr media
And now, for some of the Q/As!
Q: FancyDancyMaho: For Mick - so who is the Goodest Boy and why is it Marrow? If you had to take a guess, is Marrow a mix of insecure and overcompensating because he's the Rookie?
ricepiratemick (Marrow): Absolutely. The thing is, he's a Rookie to the team, but not a rookie in general experience.  The AceOps don't just hire anyone. It's like being a senior in high school: you're the upperclass. Then going to college and starting back down at the bottom of the food chain.Plus he's young, AND a little "different" from the rest. He's got a lot to prove. But unfortunately, "needing to prove something" can sometimes get in your way.
Q: JazzRen47 asked: Hi! This is a general question for all of you. I know voice acting is different from stage work, but was there anything in particular that helped you get into character for your recordings? I'm currently a University theatre student so I'm beyond curious about getting insight wherever I can haha! It was an absolute joy to get to hear your performances this Volume (and an aside for Dawn: you are a wonderful singer, ma'am). Thank you so much for taking the time to come do this.
ricepiratemick (Marrow): Some VA's sit while they work. Focusing all that energy and nuance directly into their voice. I've never been able to that. I gotta stand up and move around (which is sometimes a problem, but I've been able to reign it in and keep it more manageable).
But I'm still flailing my arms around and pointing at imaginary people lol
Q: silent-film asked: Clover’s tone in his scenes with Qrow is noticeably different from his tone when speaking to the Ace Ops or the kids. Can you say anything about that or what your thoughts were on their interactions as a whole?
ChristopherWehkampVA (Clover): I approached Clover as a guarded leader type character, who rarely allowed others into his mind on a personal level. So you see that reflected in how he treats most people, keeping a professional but kind distance.
Q: CapitalStory4 asked: Anairis, what is the best part about being the female Flash?
anairisq (Harriet): At this point? The memes.
Q: Mpatrick23 asked: Hey y'all! I wanna thank you five for taking the time to do this AMA! Now down to the questions:
To all: What was it like in your own perspectives to be a part of the ride with the RWBY cast and who were your favorite VAs to just hang with when not recording? And do you guys have spare time hobbies? Also, just throwing a compliment out there: Dawn, you did beautifully in War!! That was bloody amazing. I loved Harriet up until the "It's not excessive if it's necessary" line as well. I hope you guys make convention appearances soon and possibly see the rest of you in V8!
One of the many loyal fans, -Mitch
DawnMBennettVA (Elm): Hey Mitch! Thank you so much!!! :'D
We generally don't get to see each other a lot when we're not recording, as actors have the most unpredictable schedules. However, I did get to see Anairis before we were able to announce our roles, and we totally geeked out and got excited about each others' performances since we hadn't heard them yet.
I think I'd say my hobby is cooking and baking! I love trying to make new dishes I've never made and see what works. My last favorite food I made was lavender tea bread with a honey lavender glaze. My kitchen smelled fantastic.
Q: MrZissman asked: Hi Dawn! Question - who wins in an arm wrestling contest: Nora or Elm?
DawnMBennettVA (Elm): I think Elm would win at first, but then Nora would probably keep challenging her for rematches until she won. And then Elm would do the same back to Nora until it became an infinite loop of flexing.
Q: BiFross asked: Anairis, the beginning of the season's Harriet is much different than the end's Harriet. How did you make that distinction between friendly threats to actual threats?
anairisq (Harriet): Oh, definitely. Harriet was really serious and angry by the end, so there was no room to play games. You don't see her confidence manifest as playfulness as much as it manifests in frustration by the end, and that's the distinction I made in my head.
Q: Firegirl15639 asked: For Chris, A lot of people's favorite scene you were in was the one in the truck with Qrow. What can you tell us about getting into character for that scene?
ChristopherWehkampVA (Clover): Thanks, I loved that scene. It’s a good glimpse of how professional and capable Clover is while also still having a warm hearted side. I remember wanting to show that warm hearted side with my reads and have it contrast to how all-business he would be later in the scene
Q: threefoldthrowaway asked: Chris, I absolutely loved you as Clover and I’m gutted to see you leave. Clover had most of his screen time shared with Qrow so I just want to ask: How do you think Clover and Qrow’s relationship changed over the course of the volume?
ChristopherWehkampVA (Clover): Thanks, it was so cool to play with their dynamic. By the end of the volume Clovers pain at feeling he had to arrest Qrow was so genuine. He was dealing with the very real pain of having to choose sworn duty over what was becoming an important relationship to him
Q: BrokenLevel asked: Why do you suppose each of your characters are so steadfastly loyal to Ironwood? No need to be canon, personal conjecture is also fine.
ricepiratemick (Marrow): For Marrow, he's a faunus, and there's clearly social tensions that come with that. Having been brought into THE most elite group of huntsmen in the Atlesian military, I can't help but think Marrow (despite being a bit cocky) is hugely appreciative and humbled. He knows how difficult and rare it is for those of his kind to be placed in a such an important role.
That said, of all the AceOps... I think he'd be the first to question his "steadfastly loyal" position on Ironwood.
toddwo (Vine): I think it's the military thing. It's chain of command. He's in charge. The RWBY kids can use their hearts more as a guide because they're not military-first like I think the Ace ops are.
Q: ArmoftheSpoonFiend asked: What would you guys rather fight, 100 duck-sized horses or 1 horse-sized duck?
DawnMBennettVA (Elm): 1 horse-sized duck. Gonna need a giant oven, though.
ricepiratemick (Marrow): Marrow prefers a single target :]
anairisq (Harriet): 1 horse-sized duck. Easier to run away. :') I know if it was Harriet, she'd take on all 100 the duck-sized horses just to show off.
Q: OutcastMunkee asked: Quite a few (mainly because a few from my friend who is at work so can't make it!) questions here for everyone...From me, I gotta ask what you think about the Ace Ops vs RWBY fight and why do you think RWBY came out victorious?
As for questions from my friend, he wants to know:
Did any of you know of/watch RWBY before you were cast?
How did you end up auditioning for the roles?
Was working on RWBY any different to other voice acting jobs you've done in the past?
Thanks for doing this AMA folks! <3
toddwo (Vine): Firstly, RWBY team cheats in battle, so that's why they beat us ;)
I actually produced two seasons of the broadcast show RWBY rewind about RWBY, so I had seen nearly all of it by the time these auditions came around, and programmed entire episodes of that show around episodes, characters, and events of RWBY.
I usually submit every time there's a call for voice actors. I've been voicing various things in videos for a decade, animated characters, puppets, Reggae Shark. So I just love leaving the headspace of being at a desk at work and going to imagination land and recording voices.
I think I answered this in a different post, but I'd say the difference is being close to the show - I work at Rooster Teeth - and knowing the directors personally. It makes it way easy to ask questions, get feedback, and just be loose, as compared to skypeing in to some jerk director in L.A. lol.
ricepiratemick (Marrow): I've seen the debates about the fight results on twitter and reddit and I think it's fairly simple (and that many folks got it): AceOps were not on the same page and down a leader + RWBY were fighting for their lives and the lives of the people they were trying to save. It's as simple as that. Sure "team work" and "friends" and all that, but for those who were disapproving of that being the sole reason... I think it was clear that there were many legit reasons why RWBY came out on top.
Before getting cast, I knew of RWBY, especially some of the folks on the team, but wasn't an avid follower of the series before. Since being cast...gotta say, I love it. And will continue to watch no matter what happens to Marrow.
Audition was sent by the magic of electronic mail.
One main difference (compared to other acting jobs) is the time they take to nail down a line. In many VO jobs, yer on the clock and they roll through the script at a clip. With RWBY, it wasn't like there was a 100 takes of each line, but they knew what they wanted while still wanting the actor to explore. Just super positive, organic, and overall great experience recording with them every time.
anairisq (Harriet):
1) Yup! From the beginning. :)
2) I had received the audition online while living in FL! Submitted it pretty much the same day and tried not to think about it. I was so, so excited when I heard I booked.
3) It was for me! It was my first time doing prelay work in the booth. I was a little nervous about how it'd be like, but each session was really fun.
Q: patrizl001 asked: Todd, did you ever notice your character never used their weapon throughout the volume? Why do you think that is?
toddwo (Vine): This is totally a guess, but I feel like it's Vine's "nuclear option." He's all zen normally, so I tend to think he wants to solve things organically, and not just go nuts and use some metal blades to do the job of stretchy-ness and tactics. I could be wrong tho! Maybe it's just a fashion accessory!
Q: Eldi13 asked: For everyone: Where do you hope to see your characters go in Volume 8?
ricepiratemick (Marrow): Obviously, I have no official say in what happens to Marrow and his place in the story. But I can't help feeling he's gonna get a lot of heat from Ironwood and company after Harriet rats him out for not fighting, especially in light of Clover's death.
Personally, I'd love to see him help/side/join the RWBY gang, even if he's not a mainstay. But no matter what, he's definitely been built up to be the most conflicted of the Ops and I'm curious/excited to see where they leads.
DawnMBennettVA (Elm): Like Mick said, I have no say in the story, but I'd also love to see Elm's growth after Clover's death and the possible events to come (like what's gonna happen to her team after losing its leader, y'know?). She really does seem like a team mom at times, and I'd love to see her give Team RWBY another chance.
Q: Eldi13 asked: For Dawn, (if you make it by later!) what was the recording process like for the song in episode 12? Did Jeff and Casey arrange the whole thing, or did all the vocalists have input as well?
DawnMBennettVA (Elm): Hey there! I believe Jeff and Casey did indeed arrange the whole thing. (Obviously, someone from production please correct me if I'm wrong)! :'D
I was approached by Jeff during the process to be a guest singer, which absolutely blew my mind!!! He and Casey are such crazy talented musicians and it was an honor to be able to perform with them.
Then Christopher Sabat (voice of Arthur Watts) kindly let me use his recording studio to track my vocals, Briana Villarreal engineered me, my cousin Kaitlyn Fae coached and directed me, and I sent my vocals off to Jeff!
Jeff had asked me to sing whichever lines I liked best and he'd pick which ones to use from those. You can imagine how happy I was to hear myself singing when Elm appeared on the screen. :')
Q: SentientHam asked: Thoughts and opinions on each of your character's sembalances and weapons?
ricepiratemick (Marrow): It's fetching. Despite not seeing it's full potential, I think it's got a lot of staying power.
Q: AylaPazza asked: For all VAs, do you have any particular headcanons for your characters? Like hobbies or ways to relax, things like that! Also you all did a fantastic job this volume! I hope we see more of all of you in volume 8!
ricepiratemick (Marrow): Marrow uses his semblance to hack speed-runs of difficult games.
toddwo (Vine): I try to channel Paul Bettany's Vision character and make a lot of resonating noise in my head and relax at the same time. My voice is really high naturally so I spend a few minutes just humming low to myself to get someplace different.
Q: galaxyseal asked: To any of them: have you guys gotten to meet any of your fellow cast members in person?
DawnMBennettVA (Elm): Yes! From the Ace-Ops, I already knew Chris Wehkamp, and I met Anairis not too long after recording! I also met Lindsay and Michael Jones years ago when I started working on Fairy Tail, and Elizabeth Maxwell when we were working on Dragon Ball Super.
Actually, now that I think about it, I've met way more of the RWBY cast than I thought... The voice acting world is smaller than you think! :D
anairisq (Harriet): I met Dawn! She's just as much of a sweetie as Elm is <3
ricepiratemick (Marrow): I haven't!!!! >:[
Buuu~t I've gotten to meet/hang/know some of the team members :D
All solid, passionate, hard-working peeps
Q: brendans1989 asked: For anyone to answer - what is the most powerful advice you would give to anyone aspiring to become a voice actor?
DawnMBennettVA (Elm): Know that rejection is just part of the job. You're not going to book everything you audition for. Learn to let things go. Also, your friends' progress is not a measure of your own.
Even when you're at your lowest and you think you might be the worst, don't give up. Talk to a private coach, take classes, do everything you can to improve yourself. Keep pushing, keep trying, keep moving forward.
------
I hope this is fun for everyone to read through! I tried to balance out answers on character questions and misc. ones, as I bet some folks are interested in hearing about their journey as VAs! If anyone wants to check out the full AMA, it’s here.
r/RWBY seems like a cool crew of people, this seemed like a lot of fun, and the mods did a good job curating! Hope I gave credit where it’s due for question askers--this was all their hard work!
Happy Saturday everyone~

You are indeed the Answer Queen! xD I come to you with a little theory: a possible face-off between Tyrian and Jaune! We saw yesterday that Jaune can recover his aura really quick and that Tyrian’s semblance seems to be breaking through someone’s aura so he can attack! Do you think Tyrian will try the same trick with the others or Jaune? Tyrian did say he found Jaune interesting in Vol 4!
Hello Pining. Compliments of the season to you, fam. Lol XD Again thanks for your adorkable comment. Regarding your little theory, I actually think that was the whole reason why we got that small moment at the start of CH6 with Jaune training and recovering his aura.
Tumblr media
I believe it’s all setup for a potential fight between Jaune and Tyrian for the V7 finale. The only thing I’m not sure about are what the circumstancesfor them to be fighting each other would be. I mean, apart from Ruby and Qrow,JNR are the only ones to have encountered Tyrian in the past. And the last timeall three of them came face to face with the Scorpion Faunus, he practicallywiped the floor with them leading to Ruby needing to be saved by Qrow.
At the moment, Tyrian has been mostly moving according Watts’ cleverly crafted schemes. However the day when Watts cuts Tyrian loose and allows him to do whatever he pleases, I’m worried that that could potentially spell danger for Ruby yet again.
Ruby was the one who cut off Tyrian’s original tail and I do recall him not taking that lightly. So I’m concerned we could potentially get a rematch with Tyrian targeting Ruby and JNR coming to her rescue. I actually think JNR workingtogether to face off against Tyrian would be a pretty awesome fight to seeespecially given how each member of the group has grown since their lastencounter with Salem’s killer henchmen.
Tumblr media
I would love to see Jaune go toe to toe with Tyrian. It’s a very rare sight for us to actually see Jaune hold his own in a one on one dual. The closest thing we’ve gotten in the past is his brief clash with Cinder back in V5 in which he lost. So ifTyrian comes for Ruby or worse…if Tyrian comes for Ruby and Nora gets injured in the process needing for Ren and Ruby to have time to take Nora to safety, I can see Jaune playing a line of defense to stand between Tyrian and his friends.
Jaune possessing the kind of semblance that allows him to replenish his aura levels while healing himself in the process makes him the perfect opponent for Tyrian. Not to mention that Jaune additionally has the option of projecting his aura in a manner that could potentially cause damage to opponents facing off against him.
Vine did give him the idea back in CH5 so I’m curious if Jaune has also been practicing ways to project his aura in combat.
The more I think about it, the more I really want to see a fight with just Jaunealone fighting Tyrian. I can even picture Jaune being the one to singlehandedly defeat Tyrian. But I’m curious where this battle will go. I doubt the CRWBY Writers would want to get rid of Tyrian that easily.
Then again! Holy shit…then again! YO! I just had a big brain idea.
What if…and this is a BIG IF…Tyrian ends up being defeated by the combined team work of JNR and Oscar to protect Ruby in a fashion thatpays homage to the first battle against the Deathstalker that formed the original JNPR Team?
Isn’t the Deathstalker not a Grimm based off of a scorpion? And what type of Faunus is Tyrian Callows? A scorpion!
Tumblr media
Again I doubt Tyrian will be defeated that easily but…the more I think about it, the more this squiggle meister really wants to see a four on one match between Tyrian against Jaune, Nora, Oscar and Ren in a fight that not only parallels the first JNPR team fight back in V1but finally solidifies that Oscar will be a part of JNR moving forward just to finally stick a pin in that JNPR 2.0 Revival Pinehead headcanon.
Tumblr media
I don’t know how or if it will even happen but I think JNR working together with Oscar to face off against one common enemy—potentially the most dangerous enemy they’ll ever fight—would be a spectacle to see and I want it, dagnabbit!
Tyrian versus JNPR 2.0. I want it. I need it and if it’s done to protect Ruby then that’s just the cherry on this awesometastic cake.
I just really, really want to see JNR work together and fighting as a team again especially with Oscar as a part of it. And now that I’ve envisioned it in my imagination, I can’t help but wanna hope for it. I’m not even kidding now. Ireally want to see JNPR 2.0 go at it against Tyrian and kick his ass. What’llbe even better is if the way they defeat him mimics how they managed to takedown FNKI in the end with Jaune, Ren and Oscar cornering Tyrian like a rat in amaze long enough for Nora to deal the final blow.
Not necessarily killing Tyrian but…defeating him and knocking him out long enough so that he could be taken into Atlesian police custody (that he’ll obviously escape from later with Salem’s help in the V7 Finale After Credit teaser but I digress). I really think that could be cool but who knows?
But in the event that we don’t get to see JNPR 2.0 fight Tyrian, I’ll take Tyrian versus Jaune because that I can definitely say that will happen given that small foreshadow from the fifth episode.
This also makes me wonder something curious about Tyrian. Since hissemblance enables him to cut through another’s aura, can Tyrian also sense another person’s aura levels?
I still found it interesting how he was able to call Jaune out like that back during V4. So did he know? Did he sense Jaune’s near infinite aura levels andpegged him as a worthy adversary?
It makes me wonder now. Just as much as it makes me wonder how a match between these two would go should they clash. I really wanna see Jaune fight Tyrian now. Heck I just want to see Jaune in a fight where it’s just him against one person and we get to see the whole fight and he wins in the end or at least manages to hold his own until back up arrives.
We have not seen a fight like this for Jaune at all and I want it. I think Jaune deserves to have his badass zero to hero moment after all the growth he’s undergone since Beacon Days. If not for himself then at least let him do it to avenge all the thirsty moms whose lives were unfortunately claimed during Tyrian’s footloose rendition.
Especially if in the end it further crowns Jaune as a person of interest to Tyrian. For the most part all we’ve seen from Tyrian is that he’s a merciless sadistic killer. But imagine for a minute if Tyrian was the type of guy who also somewhat values strength and weakness.
Like he’s the type of psychotic malicious killer who will pray on the innocent since he knows that they’re an easy prey but the minute he finds himself a worthy prey—an opponent who can rile him up with the thrill of the hunt and the kill, he’ll become fixated on said prey to the point where he would only allow himself to be killed by said person…if that makes sense.
Like imagine if Tyrian fights JNPR 2.0 and loses but doesn’t die. And the one takeaway from this fight to the Scorpion Faunus is his newfound obsession with Jaune.
Tumblr media
Like it’s a type of relationship where Tyrian won’t allow anyone else tokill Jaune but him and the only person he’ll allow to kill him is Jaune.Like some sick twisted fixation where Tyrian sees Jaune as his “death mate”—his perfect antithesis.
I know it’s an odd theory but bear with me on this one will you. I’m just saying that should Tyrian fight Jaune and survive, it’d be interesting if it ends with him giving up on Ruby and training eyes on Jaune instead. Currently Ruby has way too many people coming after her. She already got the Fire and Ice-cream duo and possibly Salem on her ass (with possibly Ironwood coming up next depending on how he’s looking during the next few episodes).
So…yeah, let Tyrian have Jaune. Why not? Jaune stans don’t get mad at me.

Knightshade: Ninjas of Love
Jaune: I feel like someone is watching me.
Nora: Oh, you're just being paranoid.
Figure in the Distance: *turns black and fades away*
Ren: What was that?
Ren: *looks where the figure had been*
Nora: Jaune's just being paranoid. It's not like a ninja is out to get him.
Pyrrha: I don't know, Jaune is more intuitive than he seems.
Jaune: I'm more what?
Pyrrha: You can recognize how people feel.
Nora: Except for one thing.
Pyrrha: Except for one thing.
Nora: So, is there a ninja we'll get to fight.
Ren: I don't think we'll get to fight the ninja.
Nora: Than what's the point in having one stalk us?
Ren: Stalk our fearless leader.
Nora (asking jaune): What's the point of have a ninja stalk you without getting to fight it.
Jaune: I would rather NOT fight the ninja.
Jaune: *turns to Ren*
Jaune: Is there really a ninja?.. stalking me?..
Ren: You have no need to fear for you safety.
Jaune: Huh?
Ren: *smiles*
* * *
Jaune: *walks down the halls of Beacon*
Jaune: Huh? I feel like someone's watching me.
Ninja: *hidden by shadows in the rafters*
Ninja: *holds perfectly still*
* * *
Ninja: *hidden by shadows in a tree, watching Jaune through the windows in the library*
Ren: *appears beside the ninja*
Ren: So, are you ever going to actually do anything, or are you satisfied just stalking him?
Ninja: *turns black and disappears*
* * *
Nora: Inja-nay on the oof-ray.
Jaune: I have seven sisters. Do you think I don't speak pig latin?
Nora: Oh, shit! The jig is up! Run, ninja!
Ninja: *turns black and vanishes*
Jaune: Are you on the ninja's side now or something?
Nora: *points at Ren*
Jaune: Good point.
Pyrrha: I think it's about time we caught the ninja.
Ren: This does seem to be drawing out... We will need bait.
Jaune: *stares at Ren*
Ren: Do you want to catch the ninja, or not?
Jaune: I am kind of getting curious. I mean, who would be stalking me?
Pyrrha: Every girl in Beacon. I mean...
Nora: Real smoothe.
Pyrrha: *nods her head to Jaune*
Jaune: *no sudden recognition on his face*
Jaune: I don't see why everyone finds this so funny.
Ren: You will.
Nora: Once we catch the ninja.
Jaune: Ffiiiine... What do I have to do?
Ren: Dangle over a cliff.
* * *
Jaune: *dangles over the cliff with a rope tied around one ankle*
Jaune: See, I don't know why, but I thought you were joking.
Ren: *silent pause*
Jaune: So?, um, when are you going to let me down?
Ren: I'm not.
Ren: *runs away*
* * *
Jaune: Okay, I swear he's not going to come back. All the blood is running to my head... And you think if gravity was pulling me upwards, my armour would feel lighter, but it feels even heavier. Oh, what the hell.
Jaune: Ninja?! You there. I could kind of use your help. Ren's taking this prank WAY too far.
Ninja: *appears out of no where, cuts the rope and catches Jaune*
Ninja: *pulls Jaune back to the cliff*
Ninja: *turns black and tries to flee, only to find Jaune holding onto... her... arm...*
Jaune: Oh, no you don't. At the very least I have to thank... Blake?!
Blake: *nervously looks at Jaune and then tries to look away*
Jaune: You're part of the prank, too?
Blake: *sighs*
Blake: You are as oblivious as I expected. Why do you think I'm stalking you?
Jaune: *gasps*
Jaune: You?! You're the ninja?!
Blake: *nervously looks him in the eyes before looking away*
Jaune: I'm not letting go until I find out what's going on.
Blake: *tries to pull away a few times and eventually sighs*
Blake: *ears flatten against her head*
Blake: Promise not to laugh.
Jaune: So long as this is genuinely not a prank.
Blake: That's what it is for you, isn't it? You could not possibly imagine why a woman would be interested in you... Alright, alright, I'll tell you, put on one condition. Two conditions.
Jaune: Which are?
Blake: One, you have to let me put my head in your lap.
Jaune: Uh... okay...
Blake: *lays her head in his lap*
Blake: Two, you have to pet my kitty ears.
Jaune: Are you really sure?
Blake: Do you want to know, or what?
Jaune: *pauses for a moment*
Jaune: *pets her kitty ears*
Blake: *purrs*
Blake: You're still promising not to laugh.
Jaune: Of course, why would I laugh?
Blake: I kind of... love... you...
Jaune: *stunned silence*
Blake: You still have to pet my ears.
Jaune: *starts petting her ears again*
Jaune: I have no idea what's happening, but I don't want it to stop.
Blake: That's how you reply to my confession?
Jaune: It just... doesn't... feel real...
Blake: My head is in your lap and you are petting my ears. Quite well, by the way.
Jaune: Why?.. me?..
Blake: Because you make me happy enough to let you pet my kitty ears.
Jaune: That makes a surprising amount of sense... Are you sure?
Blake: *purrs*
Jaune: Really sure?
Blake: Completely sure.
Jaune: And how is the rest of RWBY going to take this?
Blake: Ruby wanted to help, but couldn't. Weiss just huffed. Yang wanted to see how it would play out.
Jaune: Quite well, apparently.
Blake: Does that mean?
Jaune: Yes.

Iceberg Week Day 2-First Kiss: Hell of A View
[Vacuo. Shade Academy. On top of this tapestry-laced school was a balcony overlooking the desert Kingdom just outside of Headmistress Theodore's office.
Ruby Rose and her friends hadn't expected the desert winds to be so refreshing compared to the bloody winter they all went through back in Atlas. And yet, they were still having to assume the worst, given how General Ironwood had betrayed the party. Who knows what Theodore had in mind for them?
Of course, reunions were in order as QROWBYJNRM were more relieved to see Teams SSSN and CFVY with their arrival to Vacuo. So far, so good, as Blake had begun rekindling her relationship with Sun. Ruby and Jaune had been given leadership advice from Coco. Yatsu and Fox had a wicked workout session with Ren and Nora, to name a few.
But one that had been off the books for a while was Weiss and Neptune. When they last saw each other, Weiss had been nearly pummeled by a Paladin-290 on the Beacon campus, and Neptune had, unfortunately not gone for saying hello to Weiss after recent events. Instead flirting with Blake's friend, Ilia, not knowing she was a frigging lesbian.
Sun had given Neptune an appropriate slap upside the head for not asking for clarification. It was a good thing they just had a group chat just before their friends arrived in the Kingdom about his ladykiller shtick, since it wasn't a major issue. But…It could’ve given people a bad impression not just of Neptune, but of Team SSSN altogether.
Needless to say, it had been a bit of a doozy to have Neptune chatting with Weiss again, even though they were long past the whole Team NDGO flirting fiasco in the middle of Vytal.]
Neptune: Whoever this Salem is, she sounds like a real pain in the ass.
Weiss: Like you wouldn’t believe. The girls and I could hold off Professor Lionheart, but General Ironwood and his whole drone fleet? No thanks, I'd rather be doing Father's paperwork.
Neptune: How's the rest of your family doing after the invasion?
Weiss: Mother was in shock by the time we found her. Soon as she recovers, she's gonna head into an anonymous alcoholics group. She was about to have a drink when we found her, but soon as she heard Grimm coming, she threw down the rest of her vodka, set it on fire, and held them off with my grandfather's machine gun.
Neptune: Holy shit!
Weiss: *grins* I know, right? Mother was ready to chase them down herself, had it not been for Ruby blasting them first with the Silver Eyes.
Neptune: Winter?
Weiss: *frowns* Wounded in action. Since the General was going off the deep end, President Baum had to step in and put her on medical discharge since Ironwood had basically been going insane.
Neptune: Whitley?
Weiss: Pretty much refusing to accept that Father worked with a bunch of known terrorists associated with Salem. He's basically shut us out since we barely managed to save Atlas, but since Jacques has been officially disowned by us, he's refusing to speak.
[The ex-heiress sighed, now angrily clenching the railing on the balcony as she seethed about that memory. Neptune said nothing, knowing that she was in no mood for reassurances or the like.
Neptune stood back further from her until Weiss looked up with an interesting question to distract from the negativity of the topic.]
Weiss: Neptune. I wanna know why you came to me during First Year.
Neptune: *raises eyebrow* Huh?
Weiss: You know, *faces Neptune* why you were coming onto me. Why you…Look, it's why you seemed interested in me.
Neptune: Oh! Uh, that…Yeah.
Weiss: Did you want to talk about it?
Neptune: No, not really.
Weiss: Well, I'm curious since it's been ages since we last saw each other.
Neptune: Uh…You seemed different from the other girls I tried to hit on. You were intelligent, talented in a lot of avenues I wasn't. Singing, your combat style, that kinda thing.
Weiss: *expression softens* My talents?
Neptune: Yeah. You were a lot more elegant than me. I was just kind of a klutz who was better off with a railgun. I wasn't just going for your looks, Weiss. I respected who you were, but you seemed a little tense. Like a workaholic. I can be one, too, but with where you came from you sounded like you could use a friend. Not just a boyfriend, but someone who appreciated hard work as much as you.
[Weiss gasped. Her face reddened at his compliments as she placed a hand on her heart.]
Weiss: *blushes* Neptune. Were you…Valuing me?
Neptune: *horrified expression* Oh Gods, I- -I didn't mean it like that. Yeah, I valued you. But I didn't know you were a big deal! You're a noble- -Well, you WERE a noble who wanted to be a Huntress. I'm just a commoner who happened to be leagues ahead of my peers since I was better at fighting and building stuff outside of running my mouth.
Weiss: No-no-no, it’s okay. I guess I didn’t really know how to feel about your flirting at first. I appreciated it. Really, I was used to being valued by other boys for my wealth for so long that I never really considered how anyone else thought of me. That is, until the night when Blake split off from our Team and I realized how bitchy I was being.
Neptune: And I flirted with most girls I saw just to hide my own insecurities. That's why I hit on Team NDGO, because I didn't want the crowd to think I was a loser or something. They weren't really in front of me to judge me, though. I just wanted to entertain them! I wasn't doing it to offend you, Weiss! And then Ilia showed up and- -! *sighs* Gods damn it!
[Neptune had expected her to leave him for the day, since it's been close to a year since they saw each other. Surely, his lack of confidence still wasn’t enough for a young woman as talented as her. What else did he expect? Weiss could still be a damn perfectionist.
But the Huntress had taken one of Neptune's fists. She un-clenched the fist with a brief chilly touch from Myrtenaster, transferred over to her dainty palm. Nep recoiled at the icy jolt as Weiss put both of her hands to his. She gave a soft smile to calm him down.]
Weiss: Neptune. We were just kids at the time. You don't have to prove anything to me to try and be friends with me again. It's been a year, and we've both got our own missions. You, the boys, and Team CFVY have the Crown and it's remnants to deal with. I'm helping Ruby and Ozpin fight Salem. I wouldn't mind remaining friends with you now that we're adults. Okay?
[Neptune was shocked. Of course, he knew that Weiss would forgive him at some point, but so soon after a year? Okay, Remnant was on the brink of the apocalypse. But he didn't think it'd take that for their reunion from earlier in the week to bring it up.]
Neptune: Well...Maybe this is good enough as an adult now?
[Before Weiss could ask what he meant, she was greeted with a kiss. She practically melted in his embrace as she felt her hands reach his stomach and chest. The kiss eventually broke as Weiss looked up, confused but not even angry as they were both attempting to process what just happened.]
Weiss: What the hell was that...?
Neptune: Oh, crap. I'm so sorry, Weiss! That wasn't- -! You said that- -! Please, tell me it's not- -
[Weiss shut him up with a kiss in return. This time, he was taken by surprise as she used a white Glyph to help her up. Standing on her tiptoes for good measure, Weiss got the drop on Neptune this time as she embraced him around his neck. Neptune, meanwhile, embraced Weiss from her backside while running a hand through her shortened hair for the Vacuo mission.
They had been lost in the kiss for a solid minute as they felt their Auras glowing from how connected they felt. Halfway through, their tongues briefly met as they danced around each other. No moans were had. But pure bliss.
Weiss deactivated her Glyph, setting herself down as she had the biggest smirk on her face from Neptune's flabbergasted expression. They kissed! They honest-to-the-Gods kissed! And Weiss had finished it for them. Whaddya know.]
Neptune: *blushing, holding his cheek* Ah…A-Are we even?
Weiss: *smirks* Oh, we're even alright. I gotta go meet with Theodore and the others now, but when this war wraps up. Don't find me, you sweet boy. I'll find you. *winks*
[While she said this, Weiss highlighted one of her legendary legs and gave her ass a brief shake. She bid Neptune farewell for now as she headed to the Headmistress’ office. Neptune's reaction…Welp, read for yourself.]
Neptune: …She likes me! Ha-ha, she likes me!

Caught up to the RWBY manga...and I’ve got opinions
CW / TW : Some discussions of implied sexual assault.
Spoilers up to Ch 18 of the RWBY Manga and Vol 2 of the series TV show.
So last time I commented on the manga I was just past the white fang thing with blake and I responded idk interested in how the manga took it’s approach with it. I wouldnt say positive but curious about it in a harmless way.
THINGS REALLY FELL OFF THE RAILS.
The manga basically speeds through the rest of volume two leaving behind major scenes and shortening the rest to where the impact of them is almost completely diminished. There are also some character differences that bear out due to the author giving people more or less focus.
The biggest changes are with Yang and Blake’s relationship. Now even if you dont like BEES, the formation of their friendship is a vital part of the show. Someone can read everything as “just friends” but them having a close relationship is inarguable. The moment where Yang confronts Blake on her single minded focus to find Roman / Adam and the White fang is this crucial moment where Yang gets through to Blake, shares her backstory and establishes a bond between them.
It’s nowhere in the manga. IT WAS CUT.
And it’s such a shame because up to this point you could have mis-characterized Yang as the dumb party blonde stereotype that even she would play up in the early season where it’s apparent that she’s someone who is sharp, focused and can read into people pretty well. She recognizes Blake’s anger and tells her that it isn’t wrong for her to want Justice but if she doesn’t take care of her self shell never be able to achieve it.
Oh some other cuts. RAVEN. Just never showed up because they didn’t even fight on the train. They just kind of got to the point of train impact without facing that much obstacles before all the Grimm attacked.
It’s really frustrating because
1. That was an S tier Fight.
2. It did a great job at pointing out what Yang’s weaknesses were.
3. Introduced Raven as someone super important and powerful.
For some reason they still have Banesaw around and he fights Blake later. It actually makes more sense he’d fight Blake than Weiss narrative-wise but that’s besides the point, it’s just kind of weird he’d just be there anyways since he wasn’t a big shot or anything.
Oh and STRQ isnt mentioned at all.
Ok now that we are talking about the Villains.
Roman is weird, in the show’s he’s this dashing suave dude who’s like “ah there you are red, you’re too late hahaha” *dips but in the comic he’s got this weirdly sadistic side almost like he’s being built up to be more of a threat than what he was and a more unhinged person. He threatens murder directly a lot more and one time I even thought he threatened Neo but the paneling was just weird and he’s talking to Banesaw. Either way it seems like he’s less kind to Neo in general and since that’s literally the only person he seemed to get along with in the show that makes me care less about him besides “ 100% evil sunday morning cartoon villain” I’ll take my “80% evil sunday morning cartoon villain” thank you very much
BUT THERE IS ONE SCENE WITH HIM EVERYONE DESPISES
It’s a HORRENDOUS scene in Chapter 15 thought where
CONTENT WARNING: Sexual Assault Implications
Ruby gets captured, in the manga it’s because she’s trying to get back Zwei, in the show it’s because she falls into a hole. That doesn’t really matter anyways she’s tied up and well here’s the page
Tumblr media
followed by
Tumblr media
and this isn’t as bad as it was originally before pressure to change it  https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/f2f8j9/the_controversy_regarding_rwby_manga_chapter_15/
Tumblr media
This is absolutely messed up. Just going over the content you have:
“I’d love to Entertain you myself”
“Have far more pressing concerns with a human like yourself”
“Plenty of Fun to be had, I’m sure”
and then Ruby gagged, and handcuffed to a chair as a bunch of tall faceless men in long black cloaks loom over her. You could say this all is just a misunderstanding and it’s just meant to foreshadow violence as a threat but it’s just done with such a sexual assault that the most charitable take is it’s a dogwhistle to that subject matter. Anyways thaat absolutely didn’t belong in RWBY and even reading it in Viz made me double take how they set up this scene and gave it such dark implications. Not that it was a deliberate narrative writing choice because it is undone really quickly. It just comes off as edgy and gross.
Anyways some other things:
JNPR Saga. Jaunedice is gone and while I’m not gonna lie, it’s definitely good that we didn’t have to relive through jaune going through his “ If I keep asking, maybe i’ll eventually get a yes through persistence” arc, I really feel like the pyrrha and jaune content is also weakened and though they might have overplayed this up in the show at least it ended up working on making me a shipper. Idk it wasn’t terrible but it felt a lot more surface level here. Also Ren and Nora were here too but even less prominent.
Speaking of the dance, Blake goes with Sun instead of Yang. Because Sun invites her under the context of “you owe me”. Even though it’s done tongue in cheek, like even manga sun would hold it against her if she refused I think that this line does a good deal of disservice to Sun and also paints him in a weird Adam-ish tone. Sun’s whole deal is that he’s about unconditional kindness, he likes blake but he wouldnt want her to go with him unless she wanted it for herself. Leaning into the “haha let’s just say you owe me” leans more into something that Adam would use a source of manipulation.
Oobleck: Is given a major glow up and actually ends up doing a lot in the end to the point at times it almost seems like it’s his story. He pulls of 300 IQ moves and ended up coordinating all the hunters and huntresses to the point of the breach based on the direction the wind was blowing and schematics he saw through someone’s pocket. Ok that’s an exaggeration but not by that much. The author is a fanboy over him and it’s good for memes but I’d argue it doesn’t improve the story by making him a more important character. I guess cool to see him fight a little bit more but it was kind of odd when he stunts on everyone so damn much.
The fighting in general has some weak panelling except for a few scenes where it’s showing impact. The light as hell inking style makes it kind of annoying when there’s multiple people in one fight against a big target and you have to differentiate everyone and how people move from place to place. The way your eyes are supposed to move while reading a fight and how character motion transfers through panels.
Neat informative video about that: https://youtu.be/zFFru4q_4H8?t=420 (whole video but I started at the point where they talk about panelling)
The art style is unique and i’ll give it that but too often it seems a bit more contrast and thicker lines would really benefit the series. Even when I was enjoying it, I still had these concerns. It’s just annoying when the artist is generally pretty good but you gotta zoom in to see certain things and all of that.
So yeah, i’ve been disappointed in the later chapters to say the least and that’s incredibly incriminating when I wasn’t even that big of a fan of this adaptation to start with. I thought that maybe it could have been a loose reinterpretation for someone who was put off by V1/V2 animation standards/ wanted to get through the series even quicker but I couldn’t in good conscience recommend this as an alternative for the main series anymore. And that’s a shame. Luckily this all ends with V2 so we won’t have to worry about what else would be cut, shortened or ignored from the main series and we can focus on the actual show which all of love...or like at the least.
