Thinking about post game Illario again and the mental state he must be in. He's literally lost everything.

Things will never be the same between him and Lucanis. Even if they do get better someday, they can never be the same.

He is never going to be First Talon now. He's actually gone down the ladder, which I don't think he even considered as a possibility, since he figured it was a success or death kind of deal. The man who loves being admired and adored now has to face a future full of disdain and hatred.

He has to watch Lucanis become First Talon. Something he wanted (needed). And worse, something he knows Lucanis doesn't want. He has to watch Lucanis continue to be suffocated under Caterina's grasp and the weight of her expectations until it kills him. He's back to having to watch and wait for Lucanis to die. He was able to justify killing Lucanis in part to prevent this exact fate and now he has even less power to stop it than he did before.

Where do you even go from there?

#Not to mention that I think his life was pretty empty BEFORE all of this went down #Even Lucanis never mentions anything Illario likes besides his image and that's hardly a personal hobby #you could even argue that's just a survival tool for him it's no different than Lucanis and his knives #Illario Dellamorte #Does he have even one thing for himself?#Has he ever?#His only personal goals and desires seem to be living a comfortable life #(his likes include being First Talon and luxuries like fancy silk gloves nice clothes good wine etc)#(And 'debauchery' but that's just the unhealthy coping mechanisms talking)#He doesn't have any friends. Or hobbies. Or any general interests at all that we know about?#Lucanis knits and brews coffee and cooks and likes wyverns.#Even as children all we get is Illario listening to Lucanis talk about wyverns and going wyvern hunting with Lucanis #Everything about Illario is actually about either Lucanis or Caterina #Tbh I think getting knocked on his ass and having everything taken away from him could be the best thing to happen to him #If he can pick himself up and go on from here #He was probably never going to have the freedom to develop a sense of self as First Talon either #Use all this new free time to get a hobby Illario

#my art #mission to zyxx #C-53 #pleck decksetter #dar mtz #ok time for some of my appearance headcanons #i was just gonna give c little dot eyes but i was goofing around with the doodle #and i was like. oh actually little light up ocular sensors that look like 👁️👁️ are kinda funny #i'm kinda trying to hit the space where the juck bot frame could conceivably have the same inner workings as the c frame #but it's got more like. idk plating and synthetic skin and stuff #i also think that ideally this type of frame is supposed to be more fully covered? with skin. less visible joints #and is supposed to have a cooler better looking face #but they got it at a discount store that sorta refurbished it juuuuuuust well enough to sell #they also mention in the show that the eyes glow and the jaw comes off #if there were any other details i forgot about them #i like tellurians to be Pretty Much Human #but I do like the pointy ears interpretation for one main reason:#i can put perfect little pointy ones on tellurians that are the Standard for good looks (rolphus etc.)#and give pleck ones that are slightly larger and a little bent. i just think that's fun #i'm also a short pleck truther and do not believe he is skinny. that man is at least midsized. actually probably just midsized #cause if he were too big he would be too cool #ohh and first time drawing the k'hekk eye yayyyy. it should probably be nastier but i can only do so much #dar i really imagine round cause it's like the classic Big Guy shape and they have no bones in their head so it can't be that structured #bodywise my design is def inspired by tikkitronictonic and snuffysbox's designs #i was at a total loss on how to interpret the talons and chutes and flaps when I was listening and this is easy and smooth #maybe the only major difference is that i imagine dar is pretty hygienic and furry scales feel like they'd be hard to keep clean #with all the uh. goings on #so i've got those across the chest and arms and then the torso is smoother in my mind #also ik dar is supposed to be like twice pleck's size but it's hard to stand these people next to each other #my brother said they made up a thing called mass shifting in transformers g1 to excuse the scale issues. so i'll do it too. get off my case

*annoying xenofiction author voice* I actually don't think the reader inherently derives any benefit from the POV character (of a non-human species) being described with more human terms of anatomy. in fact I think if you aren't using your phrasing to reinforce your worldbuilding or POV it can be just as distracting as the use of more animalistic terms to refer to anthropormophized characters. which isn't to say that either choice of language inherently helps or hurts the reader experience, but how this word choice relates to other facets of the written world can and will

#anyways I disagree with that attached reblog I keep seeing on that poll #literally if someone is reading about dragons and gets distracted by the use of talons/claws/etc for 'hands' then that is.#really not the author's problem #but also I'm speaking as. a reader of xenofiction! in which a combination of human and animal traits is not really something the reader #should get caught up on.#that's like watching a musical and not liking it because people don't break into choreographed song in real life #in both cases it's an advantage of the genre!! don't feel the need to treat it like a problem to be solved #draketxt

and, as a secondary thought: while all of these people came together for a singular purpose with the veilguard (as these things go), we also gotta remember that these people have had full lives outside of the veilguard, and those lives don't stop just because of it. there's more to them than a singular personal quest chain, and is definitely something i want to dig into.
