[1/2] Idk if you remember me but I'm the anon that asked about Jane's ability affecting someone with congenital analgesia. I decided to write a fic about Bella Swan's younger sister who CIP. Her personality is a bit like Luna Lovegood—serene, eccentric, a bit removed from reality, and dreamy... but also unusually perceptive and very clever. (Also she's very bisexual and biracial, because I love white!Rene and black!Charlie!!)
Hi anon! I definitely remember you :) I believe you asked this question.
I gotta say, Bella’s sister sounds really interesting. I’m always here for heroines who are unique, but whose unusual traits come with consequences. Congenital analgesia definitely fits the bill.
I actually think the coven (minus Caius) would react to Bella’s sister more positively than they would to Bella, since her gift actually has rules. Jane can make her feel a twinge of pain? Okay, that means her condition is interfering with the brain’s interpretation of stimuli. She’s not responding to pain in the usual crying/screaming way? Probably because her symptoms are closer to pain-indifference than complete pain-insensitivity. Aro especially would be interested in transforming her or at least studying her further. (It’s worth pointing out that her gift, should she have one, will probably be less broad than Bella’s. This makes her less of a threat.)
I could see some of the guards being thrilled that Jane’s gift was finally compromised. Her most obnoxious moments stem from her belief that she’s irreplaceable, so the presence of people who don’t feel her power at all or who can feel it and don’t mind would be pretty devastating. Still, the guards who like Jane or feel particularly loyal to the Volturi would probably feel pretty defensive.
Finally-- and this is just me-- I don’t think anyone would have much of a reaction to Bella’s sister’s personality, even though she does seem pretty loveable. They’re ancient vampires, and I imagine it takes them a while to notice what a person is like.
As every, when you publish you fic, please feel free to send me a link. I’d love to read it :D
