Another year is over so it's time for a look back at what was happening on this blog! I haven't really been around, it was just my queue, and maybe that's one reason why I looked at my archive and went "huh" at everything. I don't remember much. The other reason why this year probably went poof in my head is because I was dealing with some mental health stuff lol. I say lol but it wasn't actually very lol but I'm doing better now and 2024...is looking promising for now.

So, let's talk more under the cut, shall we?

January

We're in Bridgeport and Sawyer is living his best life. You know, girlfriends, boyfriends, being turned into a vampire, giving birth to three little vampires, threatening to sell his enemies' organs on the black market...best life indeed.

February

Okay I am now seeing that "talking more" about every month will be impossible since I actually don't have much recollection of 2023 lmao

March

Sawyer and Erin are at the best point of their relationship, but we left them alone for a bit and went back to NSB. Pastel just moved to Strangerville and got a...rather strange roommate.

April

The rather strange roommate becomes Pastel's rather strange wife. I love these two so much. We also say hello to Moss -- and also to Ross, who returns from...god knows where. I mean yeah, there was the ts3 Ross, but technically they're two different people. Parallel universes and stuff.

May

Thea is born and strange wife Jesse gets even stranger. That whole "merging with the mother plant" thing was kinda weird but I really enjoyed it. Idk what I was on but it was fun. And then, before returning to the lepacy, I posted my Cottage Living screenshots! ...which were really just me going "uwu what does this do" on every possible Wicked Whims option.

June

...and I went from posting weird WW Ross stuff to posting wholesome Growing Together Ross stuff. If that gave you a whiplash, I am sorry, but imagine what it must be like for me. I'm locked with this guy in my head 24/7. He's the whiplash king. A blorbo to you, a curse to me. A beloved curse tho. Ok I'm getting weird. Back to the lepacy.

Lepacy time! Loved the soap opera Generations gen. Kinda wish I had sticked to some of the storylines instead of going "eh nvm I just wanna play". I'm not saying I regret not actually letting Saywer go on a killing spree but also...imagine if he went on a killing spree. You don't see that in lepacies often do ya

August

August was...welp 💀 I was at the grippy socks hospital for most of that month, 10/10 would recommend, but my queue ran out while I was there so I just reblogged some old stuff for a few weeks.

September

September is just lepacy month. Cornelia and Archer are happy, they get married, they get more children...yeah. Good wholesome Generations times all around. It's not like they're gonna get divorced later or anything.

October

The twins are kind of chaotic, one of them turns into a ghost, both then bring their cursed imaginary friends to life...and the final child of Archer and Cornelia is born.

November

I loved running into Sawyer at the grocery store all the time. Weird vampire alleged killer grandpa behavior suits him. Dorothea goes away to a boarding school, hates it there and instantly comes back. Relatable. Oh and midlife crisis hits Archer hard.

December

And we're in December! Dorothea enters her horsegirl era and finds herself a girlfriend...and we'll continue that in 2024!

What's in store for the new year besides the lepacy? Well, Not So Berry will be making a return (and HOPEFULLY we'll finally get to the end. we need to). There's a story I want to do in the NSB universe, if you know you know. Before we dive into the next lepacy generation, I'm thinking of another BC with the gen 7 heir...oh and Marika's Black Widow. Shoot and I'm starting an irl job in January. Yeah no we're not doing all this in 2024, don't count on it 💀 But I'll try.

Ladies, gentlemen and gentlefolk, this is the complete speedrun of the actual plot of L'elisir d'amore in my Sims 4 gameplay!!

The majority of people following this gameplay have voted yes to advancing the season to summer for the sake of the plot, so I did so using the cheat "seasons.set_season 0" (I had some trouble finding the correct code, and I forgot if this one is correct; 0 is for summer specifically).

Belcore persuading him to join the military (I later had Nemorino actually join the Military career. And I did it from Dulcamara's home bc his off-the-grid household prevents him from using power.)

(well technically 100 simoleons; the closest I could get to a signing bonus was a "friendly gift" of 100 simoleons, which was the smallest amount available.)

Adina asked Giannetta to be her Sim of honor 🥰 This is as an apology for my followers who are not very happy with me portraying opera!Giannetta as a random peasant (which she is!) rather than Adina's friend.

And she literally went all the way to Dulcamara's place in StrangerVille to ask him to be her officiant 😂

I waited one day in order for the Japanese food stall to open in San Myshuno. Even so, it wouldn't open for some reason, so I literally had to buy a whole-ass one from Build Mode and hire a vendor right in Uncle Pepe's penthouse 💀

I beg my followers forgiveness, but in the end, I was unable to kill off Uncle Pepe with bad pufferfish nigiri (after I had either him or Shaowen learn the recipe, it wouldn't come out poor quality, and I wanted to waste as little time as possible), so I resorted to have him die of overheating (there was already a heatwave so it made things easiest).

More wine elixir of love from Dulcamara! (and yes Nemorino is in his swimsuit again bc he took a dip in Dulcamara's pool.)

Giannetta flirting with Nemorino was the closest I could get to the scene of the village women swarming him. It would have been way too difficult and chaotic to reproduce. (and yeah, I tried really hard to have her do it in the presence of Adina and Dulcamara.)

Seriously, Belcore? You're gonna swim right before your wedding??

I guess Dulcamara making a speech could be an okay replacement of "Io son ricco e tu sei bella"... Shame My Wedding Stories doesn't have any option for singing. (Yes, I used My Wedding Stories for the wedding. It's pretty okay in most places, they probably fixed most of it by the time I got to use it.)

(Anyway, I wasn't able to find a wedding dress for Adina that I both liked and found to be her style. Also tangentially related, but Sims 4 really gotta step up its wedding veil game.)

Third born Isla, well her story is kinda weird! She moved out at the same time as her half sister Nadja, found a nice little place down the road from mum and dad, got a job as a writer and married her high school boyfriend Brandan Cho. There was only ever Brandan for Isla, he was her first kiss, woo hoo and everything else in between! Together they had twin girls Mallory and Marina, but things got a little strange when she began researching Succubi on the internet...resulting in her becoming one herself! Brandan was loving his lusty wife, but sadly he loved her too much and he died of starvation leaving Isla all alone with twin toddlers. Little brother Calum came to live with her and the girls and they moved to Moonwood Mill. This is where Cal met Rory Oaklow and his werewolf journey began, but that’s another story. Isla then started a relationship with Channing Goth, who moved in and even proposed, but shortly after that he died of old age. So far Isla was having no luck with her menfolk! She took her girls and moved out, leaving Cal and Rory to themselves (behind Cal’s back she and Rory would get down and dirty because her Succubus aroma made Rory lust after her) and she married the Grim Reaper, this was short lived as she still loved Brandan, and they divorced. Grim now lives in Strangerville and is very bitter towards her over their divorce! By the time the twins were teenagers, Isla had returned to human form and found love with Deangelo Harjo, she fell pregnant and he was not happy because he did not want kids at all. Also he was a colleague of her sister Kenzie’s, yes he was a sex worker too. He eventually accepted the pregnancy and they got married, Layne Harjo was born and both parents were smitten.

Chaotic Fact: Isla’s affair with Rory Oaklow was an odd one as Rory didn’t find her attractive at all, it must have been her pheromones that drove the wolf in her wild. At one point they had a threesome with Calum which was...too weird for me! It never happened again thankfully! *shudder*

hello Ana, a random challenge for you. because your legacy is so expansive, how would you rank each generation? in terms of enjoyment, how memorable it was, etc.

awww this is so kind of you! and such an interesting ask! this will be a very long post, i fear 😊

i've completed the eleven generations of the life for something legacy challenge. and yes, i loved some generations more than others - not so much for the generational goals themselves (because they are pretty well drafted and very cohesive) - but the side-story for each character played an important role to the level of attachment and enjoyment of the game!

Zelda Harper - GEN5 - my favourite because of the side story, because of the generational goals, because of how relatable she felt to me and because it was during this gen that i started learning how to edit pictures!

Leonardo Harper - GEN7 - memorable because of how crazy this gameplay was! i derived a lot from the genrational objectives, but it was worth it! also loved the engagement and how other simblrs knew who leo was <33 thank you!!

Maria Harper - GEN11 - she hasn't appear yet but let me just say, her life was as crazy as leo's!! i decided to approach this generation following @ rebouks gameplay, which means i didn't focus so much on legacy goals and just captured the funny, fluffy and ridiculous moments while playing. i am eager to start posting this gen.

Ulysses Harper - GEN4 - because i loved the goals for his gen and i loved the traits of this gen too (ulysses is like a me-version). and also the idea of sending him to live alone on an island with a bunch of dogs was adorable. this gen allowed me to play in a very serene and fulfilling manner.

Theresa Harper - GEN1 - my founder! excelent generation goals and traits and loads of fun. i had never played a sim challenge before and theresa shall always be in my heart. she is also the responsible for my decision to hve all harpers immortal, simply because i couldn't imagine a game without theresa around <3

Virginia Harper - GEN6 - my favourite sim toddler EVER. i didn't enjoy her adult and elder life that much, i would have played it very differently if it was today. but her young adult days were chaotic in the partihaus!! other aspect i had never played with before - the clubs. but i loved it.

Heathcliff Harper - GEN9 - he is still being published, i know. but heathcliff life is very interesting! he recovers a bit of leo's adventures but it all turns around vampires - an occult i had never played before. and i really enjoyed it. loved forgotten hollow too.

Paris Harper - GEN8 - my sweet and silly paris doesn't get a top position mostly because after leo it would be diffcult to be THAT interesting! but sulani is marvellous and i really needed a vacation world after chaotic leo. however, paris elder days were... meh - i still haven't made peace with komorebi (it's a beautiful world, but i get bored too easily).

Ruth Harper - GEN2 - i loved child ruth soooo much now that i think of it! and this generation goals were amazing! i just had too much trouble in the beginning... i blame the mods i installed. i had planned a lot of things and then it all went poof! because she had a miscarriage. it made me so sad... that's probably why she's in this position, to be honest. also, i never got very fond of her looks...

Isaura Harper - GEN3 - isaura had such an interesting life it's almost unfair to be in this position. but the truth is that scientist career is soooooooo boring to me. and newcrest... i don't know, it was a gameplay that didn't sparkle!

Marcello Harper - GEN10 - my poor marcello... you haven't met him yet. he's such an handsome boy! but it's not his fault... the problem with this generation are: strangerville and evergreen harbor. i don't like these worlds and i was not imaginative enough to make the gameplay more interesting to me. i hope i can change it once i start editing pictures to publish!

honorable mentions to my new challenge founders -- grace harper and katherine harper, because alongside with charlie harper and wanda harper, they are my favourite spares and they totally deserve a chance to shine!

1. What has been your favorite time period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

I thought it was going to be the 20s, but it turns out that parties are very time-consuming to stage and photograph. since my heart really lies with domestic gameplay, i’d say I’ve most enjoyed every era but the 20s. the 10s were very good, as I loved Calvin and it was quite an interesting generation. 

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

weird one i guess, because its not flashy, but I just love @vroshii’s 30s shirt. I’ve been using it for all my male sims for the past two generations (30s and 40s). I especially like the floral swatches, which have become sort of a staple of Jerry Scott’s closet.

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

I’m much further along in my gameplay than I am with my posting, but right now I really love Mary Scott (nee Guerra), Jerry’s wife. She’s so adorable! But of course I still love Jerry loads. And their son, Bruce.

4. What is your favorite world?

I would have said Windenburg or Brindleton once, but since starting my story blog @imminent-close-encounter, which is based in Strangerville, I’ve really grown to love that town. looks at the mesas!

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

For my Scott legacy its largely gameplay, for imminent it’s all story. I love both ways of playing.

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

N O . i love cats in real life and at least sim dogs don’t smell, but pets in the sims are a LOT more trouble than they’re worth. 

7. What's your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

mmm one that is mostly my own fault. I’m lazy so I don’t generally do all the outfits for sims, even sims in my household, so they’ll change into their hot/cold weather outfits and look like a tornado carried them through an H&M.

8. What's your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

can I count the BEAUTIFUL reward easel that looks like it would pack up into a neat little case? that’s one of my fave items in the whole game.

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

I’d love to see new historical cityscapes. the only good part of San Myshuno is the spice market, and even that is a bit too modern in some ways. something based off of historical New York or something would be wonderful.

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

Maybe cottage living? I haven’t had much chance to play with it but it seems really good for those early years of the decades challenge. 

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

@antiquatedplumbobs mentioned @pandorasimbox​’s Timeless mod, and in the spirit of not just repeating that, I’ll say the Enlist in War mod by Kuttoe. much easier than the cowplant method. I also feel like the emotional impact of the death hits a lot harder when they aren’t...dying by cowplant.

12. What's your ideal family size for playing?

right now i’m playing (spoilers) a house of EIGHT and i’m at my wits end. i’d say I like a family of five best, two parents and three little ones, but tbh I am a sucker for big families even if they are chaotic as all hell.

13. Do you use poses?

Yes, always for imminent and sometimes for the Scott legacy. i try not to use them too much for the Scotts because I’m trying to play the game rather than tell a specific story. but if I need them for a specific scene, like a wedding or an event, I’ll use them.

14. Do you use any overrides in your game?

Yes, I have a few. can’t remember them all but i’ll list a few that I use.

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your game?

I did for the first two generations, I think. it’s pretty frustrating. some things that should be off the grid aren’t tagged correctly, both in game and in cc (cc I can forgive, it may be from before the off-the-grid trait existed).

17. What inspired you to start playing a historically?

i can’t totally remember. but I do remember first reading the rules to the decades challenge and thinking ‘this is wild, i can’t believe people do this, oh my god’ and now look at me...

Rainbow Legacy Challenge

Like @lilsimsie and @alwaysimming 's Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, this challenge is a 10 generation Legacy Challenge focusing on bright colors and new experiences (sort of a part 2) - without the need for complete berry sims. Like the Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, your sims do not need to be berry sims, but can be if you would like.

Rules:

Each generation must either be named in relation to their color or in relation to the first letter of their color. E.g. Red - Ruby or Rebecca (name either must be same color family or begin with same letter as color).

Each heir must have the eye color of the previous generation (orange with red eyes, yellow with orange eyes etc.) Red will begin with red eyes (only if you can).

You can use as much or as little color as you like for each sim, as long as each heirs hair matches the generations color.

Must be played on normal lifespan.

For anyone who plays sims 4, I’d recommend Strangerville. This is funny and weird as fuck.

Before I start describing its atrocities Sims has had a wonderful new update. The new update has included many more skin colour choices as well as further manual editing to them, as well as more customisation for all of the makeup choices so someone must’ve heard me wanting all of the sims being smushed together 😂 not quite number 3 but more lenient in that area which is fantastic.

Right, so, you can now bug other sims and spy on them and listen to to them with a giant listening device (seems a tag Obvious to spy with a huge device). I genuinely thought it was just a new type of computer, just with a chaotic set up.

There’s a weird stall to buy conspiracy theorist gear what has a huge cow skull (?) on the top so I just made her mum a Glastonbury “civilian” basically and now she’s bugging people and working in the military whilst being suspicious of the military and visiting the weird camp which has its name blanked out by default. She’s buying lots of £100 special lava lamps and has already bugged her science enthusiast child. Her child has built her own small single roomed bungalow next to her mothers caravan becaus eshe can’t be DEALING with living in a caravan for one with her conspiracy theorist mother now she’s an adult.

There’s a new aspiration has an illuminati symbol as it’s picture, so I gave it to her of course.

She bought a weird fruit from the stall and it said don’t eat it so I got her to eat it and now this happened and she’s running around like the girl in the exorcist.

I think there’s a glitch or maybe it’s a part of it (I don’t know because weird stuff keeps happening) but loads of umbrellas keep floating around by themselves with no sim under them going the same direction.

I’m now on the dude that’s surname is Rosewell and he just opened a door with a keycard he had to blag off a scientist and released loads of spores into the air and now there’s not just small spore plants but big ones everywhere all over the town and I keep making him taint the plants by kicking them and that’s probably not what I should be doing. He keeps repeatedly getting possessed without me doing anything as well as of course after messing around with stuff which makes more sense.

I now have some more tasks to get into but that’s an update of so far.
