honest question, who is Sean Chiplock and how is he annoying sometimes? your post is the first time i’ve heard of him and i make a conscious effort not to use or interact with twitter at all so i have no idea what’s going on

Voice-Actor. First got into the public consciousness for his work as Revali from Breath of the Wild, but other popular roles he's done include: some random pretty boy from Genshin Impact (I know it's a prominent character, I just don't care enough about Genshin to look it up), Purple Yam Cookie in Cookie Run: Kingdom, and most recently Kinger in The Amazing Digital Circus.

Really, when I say 'he's annoying sometimes' it's that he can sometimes get a tad sanctimonious when he's talking about social issues. But, other than that, he's fine.

The reason people are trying to turn on him now (and by 'people' I mean 'maladjusted children who need their internet-privileges revoked') is because he dared to not agree with kids attacking people over fictional ships.

However, because every fandom puritan knows that, deep down, their accusations don't mean shite to anyone with more than two braincells to rub together, they've started to lump in other heavier accusations to give credence to 'he supports icky ships, so he's a terrible person, weh'.

Such claims include:

'He's racist!!' For making jokes about Chinese knockoff products. Which, you know, people have been making all over (particularly when it comes to the current state of artist alleys/halls at conventions giving tables to people reselling shoddily-made junk from AliExpress/Wish)

Also, in case anyone tries to bring up that tweet where he supposedly said the N-word: how many NewGrounds lurkers pulled that same shit when they were in their late teens-20s? As in, the same age-range he was when that tweet was made?

And 'He defended a groomer!!' When, in reality, when it came out that another Genshin Impact VA was a legitimate predator, Chiplock actual condemned the VA in question while telling fans 'remember, it's perfectly fine to separate a character from the person who voices them in situations like this'.

Meanwhile, a certain someone who voices a certain pastel-unicorn in the cookie game went on a tirade about how the Japanese BL industry and those who support it should be 'burnt to the ground' and, as of today, no action has been taken/no one is calling for their cancellation. So, you know: priorities.

True names; a Genshin theory

With the release of Natlan coming, and more and more information getting available, there is something that is bothering me.

Murata as the name of someone important in Natan and possibly of the origin Pyro Archon had been dropped in the oficial Genshin Impact webnovel on their website years ago. Almost immediatly the connection was made with the Himeko Murata, known to be in atleast one alternate universe to be the Herscher of Flames. Venti and Ei showed that there is a link between Herschers and Archons of the same Element, making things more solid of a theory.

Until now, we had gained some indications that Murata may not be the *current* Archon of Natlan. Venti mentiones he has no idea who the current Pyro Archon was, Murata or otherwise. It had also been stated by Ganyu ( I think) that of the original Archons, only Zhongli, Venti and the Dendro Archon were left some time in the past.

Then we got a look at the Natlan trailer and we see the one that seems to be the leader of Natlan, Mavuika. She certainly looks like Himeko a little, however is not her. Beyond the more meta reason of different VAs while HSR and HI3 Himekos do have the same VAs, their names do not match and the boob mole is seemingly not present.

Still within reason. Himeko, in Himeko fashion, died (plz dont come after me, it had to be said) in the past and passed on the torch to the next Pyro Archon.

But then I read that the name Murata is possible a translation mistake, and instead of Murata's (person) children, it should have been children from Murata (place).

I have not yet seen any official statements about this translation mistake, but I could be wrong.

However... maybe this was not a 'mistake', but something done deliberate? I mean, as far as I know, the translation has not been corrected yet, not even on the official site. And you would think that Mihoyo would correct it if only to not create confusing expectations for the fans in Natlan.

So maybe, they left this mistake in as a clue.

(Or maybe this translation error is just an error, however this theory still stands without it being a deliberate mistake)

Maybe this ties in with True Names.

I have watched some video assayists on YT and the role that True Names play. By giving someone a name, you are essentially giving them a role to play in Teyvat. Just like mini Durin in the current 4.8 simulanka event.

So what if you somehow lost your True Name. What if your role is now empty. What if this role was important like say the Pyro Archon. (Still, there are places named for you, however people dont know anymore why it is named like this)

Maybe, there had been a Murata. Maybe she lost her True name. Maybe her role of the Pyro Archon is therefore now either forever unable to be filled or needs a new player to take it on. Maybe first they tried to make another role to fill that void, a role similar to that (another god of fire, like say Mavuika), however that role is simply not enough.

Maybe, just like the Archon Wars years ago, this nation is in a constant battle to determine the next person worthy of being Archon of Natlan, creating a new True Name to override your current one/gifting a new True name, just like all other Archons have two sets of names.

And maybe when they say when you lose, you will lose your True Name, they actually mean that the winner will not actually be a winner in the end. For their True Name will be that of the Pyro Archon, not that of themselves... and who knows which role that is...

(Self sacrifice to safe Natlan for example? Maybe that is the reason why Capitano has not already won the war despite being so strong? Bc of the consequences this would have?)

However, until now this giving of a other True name has never worked. And maybe that is where we come in.

Naming is something that in general only creators of that thing does do. Parents, scientists, builders. Gods/Celestia. And in a story, a name can be used to forshadow, to signal, to compliment the role the character plays in the story. And as of now we have seen twice that the Traveler has influenced a name (naming the Wanderer) and a role (changing Durins role).

And the Traveller can do that because they are outside the story, and their True Name is not part of Teyvat, as we as players have already given them a True Name, our user name. This is possibly also what marks them as a Descender, a non Teyvat True Name.

As for their Sibling, I have the suspicion that the Sibling has been given a Teyvat True Name by the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles. However she could not with us bc our username already had been given to the Traveler by us.

And maybe the reason the Sibling is working with the Abyss is bc they are able to mess with True names. The same Abyss that is in constant conflict with Natlan and thus could easily have messed with the Pyro Archon. The same Abyss the bloodstaijed knight, which many speculate is Capitano, has connections with. The same Abyss order that could be reason the loser will loose their True Name. The same Abyss that is described as beyond and entirely different from Teyvat.

Just as we (Travelers) are from beyond Teyvat, and also able to mess with True Names and/or the role of someone.

Ad this would certainly threaten Celestia, an element they cannot control and cause havo everywhere.

TLDR; The role of Pyro Archon is empty and we Travelers will be able to help because we are not limited by Celestia.

Someone said that Kaveh’s va acts like if Kaveh got isekai’d into Genshin like 9 years ago and still thinks he’s going to go back to his world. This is an absolutely hysterical concept and while I won’t be making it hc I WILL give Kaveh one too many modern traits and never explaining them. Like he says “Jesus, Mary and Joseph!” and everyone looks at him like he’s crazy. He doesn’t actually know what Christianity is by name but he is so.. incredibly Raised Catholic. The way he talks about sin makes Kaeya do a double take so hard he ends up getting whiplash. He knows what a computer is and how to use one, he just doesn’t know the name of it. Same with smartphones. He uses modern slang and references vine despite it never existing in his universe. Stuff like that.

To be clear he was absolutely 100% born in Tyvat and wasn’t actually isakai’d. He’s just Like That. Although the idea of Kaveh being one of the outworlders is very funny

only thing i hate about period cdramas is the voice acting. it seems that you hear the same 10 voices across all dramas, sometimes the voice doesn't even suit the character or it doesn't match the intonation of the actor/actress properly. it makes sense that you might not want to record on scene, and it's not like dramas from other countries don't also dub over scenes where necessary. and you can't use accent and standard mandarin as an excuse, because it's not like actors and actresses overseas don't study regional and other types of accents for their characters which differs from their usual way of speaking. case in point: any british actor/actress using an american accent, which is so different down to how the vowels sound. some take it further and even do their interpretation of a real historical person's voice which big respect i have no idea how they do it.

although not all the dialects and languages in china are mutually intelligible, everyone studies mandarin and if you hear these actors/actresses speak in interviews, they speak standard mandarin. if they don't speak clearly enough, then imo that's not impossible to fix on their end. hell, i've gone to speech therapy as an adult for the same reason that i didn't pronounce certain sounds properly and need to for my job. (which obviously I never realized until someone pointed it out. honestly i still don't hear it myself, but i can say it properly now)

and if you're going to dub everyone, then expand your voice acting industry and train more people so there isn't such a small pool to choose from. like, shit, if you also watch donghuas and listen to audio dramas, you literally hear the same 10 people everywhere.

i mean, japan has a thriving voice acting industry, and while there are popular or prolific VAs, you don't get that 'same face syndrome' effect. (the only va i've ever noticed is legitimately EVERYWHERE is akira ishida lol. he's good. he's super good at a certain vibe a lot of his characters give off. he's just got a very distinctive voice and he's been in the industry for a long time, and has played in lots of major and minor roles).

...no i was not surprised when i heard his voice in genshin impact. like i said. everywhere. lol.

Not to beat a dead horse because it’s probably not healthy to talk this much about something that distresses you, but the community’s reactions to this are a nightmare.

I’ve seen people complaining that when the vas talk about this hardly any of them mention Elliot by name. All of the vas I’ve seen talk about this have mentioned at least his first name (Erika Harlacher, Sarah Miller-Crews, Zach Aguilar, Brianna Knickerbocker, even the en voice director) and even if some people don’t, who cares? Maybe they’ve got bigger concerns than his name, maybe they don’t feel comfortable saying it. People in the replies are mentioning him, it’s all over everything to do with Genshin rn, and if anyone still doesn’t know what’s going on they can just look it up. It’s not a big fucking deal.

Then there’s the people going “of course he’s a creep, he looks like one” and you know they’re referring to his race and that he’s conventionally unattractive. Don’t fucking use this situation to spread your bigoted opinions omg! His appearance has nothing to do with what he did.

And speaking of making false connections, I’ve seen people trying to drag Khoi Dao into this. They talk about how Elliot’s “playful rudeness, edgy humor, and egregious swearing” were obvious signs of his degenerate behavior and how they were so smart and were onto to him the whole time because of that (way to make this situation about yourselves btw) and then they’ll mention that Khoi does that stuff too and say “he’d better not turn out like Elliot” I haven’t seen anyone say he will turn out like Elliot, or say this to Khoi directly, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was happening.

This whole situation really is spiraling not surprisingly but it is so weird and unnecessary how much people will bring up shit that doesn't matter. If we're being honest it should just be illegal now for grown ass adults to have open discord servers where they let in people of all ages. Or minors just shouldn't be allowed on the internet at all. How many times is a situation like this gonna happen before a solution finally sticks??

I don't understand why people can't just focus on the situation instead of bringing in fifty other topics that have very little to do with anything or hounding the VA's who haven't spoke up which I also saw. Poor Alejandro just got back from the hospital and has to deal with this shit. Honestly I worry the only reason all the VA'S are speaking up is because they're worried about what would happen if they stayed silent. People need to leave them alone this must be hard on them too they worked with and befriended someone who was a predator.

And I had no idea people were saying that about Khoi. Why does Khoi literally always get dragged by this fandom? He got called lesbiphobic that one time and now people are worried he's a predator?? I would not be surprised if he just pulls the same shit Diluc's VA does and disassociate. He honestly should he doesn't deserve half of what this fandom puts on him.

Hello, hello!! It's me again!! Here to interrupt your feed with yet another of my random genshin thought of the day! Recently, on one of Zach's (Aether's VA) streams with Poonam (Klee's VA), one of the viewers mentioned something about Klee driving a mini-car affectionately titled the 'dodocar'. This got the gears in my head turning, and I started thinking about the different modes of transport each character would use. These are some scenarios my brain came up with!! I wanted to send them your way because you always have the loveliest ideas, and wanted to know if you had any more thoughts on the matter! As such, Miss Hazel, today I present to you my offering of Genshin boys as different modes of transport! 💕

Diluc would drive a car. No question about this. I've always imagined him to have a sleek, modern-looking car that's maybe a little bit on the pricier side, but not completely outrageous by any means. The man doesn't really seem like the type who would want to show off his wealth, but he also can't deny that he has an eye for much of the finer things in life.

You watch as Diluc mans the car, watching the rolling hills flash by the window. There's something uniquely intoxicating about sitting in a car with someone else for hours on end. It makes you want to open up to them, makes you want to share stories which you perhaps wouldn't have wanted to share otherwise, much like a drunkard who's had one glass too many and is now blabbering on about their whole life story. Ah, but then again, perhaps this is only so because the two of you were drunk on something else entirely? You didn't know the answer to that question, but as you watched the way his sunset-eyes crinkled with mirth at your terrible, terrible Michael Jackson impression, you think you were okay with never knowing the answer to that question so long as the two of you could stay in this moment forever, just as you were.

Albedo doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would really enjoy driving. Instead, I think his preferred mode of transport would be cycling! He wakes up much earlier every morning because he insists on cycling to work instead of driving. Albedo seems like a very practical sort of fellow. Sure, cycling is more time consuming, but it's efficient, more environmentally friendly, and overall better for his health. That makes it a win in his book.

On the weekends though, especially as the weather starts to get warmer and the air is filled with the welcomed promise of spring, Albedo would often take you out for dates in the park on a special tandem-bike. The two of you would cycle around for a while just watching the flowers bloom and the greenery come back to life, before stopping for a quick picnic lunch underneath a grand magnolia tree. You laugh as you move to wipe the little bit of cream from the cake you two just devoured which is still stuck on his upper lip. It's a sweet, saccharine kind of love, one that reminds you of fresh morning-dew and hopeful new beginnings.

Over the summer, you found out that Childe has somehow managed to get his grubby little hands on a jet ski. Uh-oh. He says he wants you to ride it with him. He's saying please. He's giving you the puppy-dog eyes. You cannot say no to that face. You do not know where he got it from or even when he learned how to use a jet ski, but really don't think this is a good idea. Come on, you cannot look at this man and try to convince me that he is not an absolute speed demon. One moment he's showing off cool tricks on the jet-ski and then the next moment he's- oh JESUS CHRIST CHILDE SLOW THE FUCK DOWN, SOMEONE'S GONNA FALL!!

Thankfully, he's a skilled enough driver that everything went relatively smoothly. This time, at least. As he stops the vehicle to give you that dopey little grin and make sure you're still alive, you take a moment to playfully hit him on the shoulder for making your heart race a million miles an hour. He only laughs. Still, it was exhilirating. And you would never admit it to his face, but he does look kind of cool showing off tricks on the water. Maybe this wasn't such a terrible idea after all.

Kaeya is a proud owner of a motorcycle. Specfically, he owns one of those lovely old-school 1980's Honda motorcycles. The people living in your neighbourhood almost went mad the moment they saw him pull up at your door with, complete with dark sunglasses and a leather jacket. You thought he looked rather stupid. Still, you were glad that he brought his bike with him. It made it easier to traverse the city traffic and get to your destination quicker.  Kaeya takes you out on a ride to one of his favourite destinations for a midnight snack: a night market, filled with rows and rows of stalls selling piping hot food. You hop from stall to stall, sharing the food and tasting everything the market has to offer together before heading back with a full heart and a full stomach.

There's a sense of youthful freedom that comes with taking late-night rides with your beau like this. Your arms around his waist, the wind billowing past your face, the moonlight reflecting the stars in his eyes... It makes you feel young again, makes you feel as though you were seventeen once more, discovering the thrills of love for the very first time. You've missed this. You've missed him. Sighing contentedly against his shoulder, you silently watch the blinking city lights fade in and out of view as you drive through the city that never sleeps.

Zhongli... Has no vehicle of his own. He's broke, your honour. Sorry Zhongli, I don't make the rules here. Thankfully, he lives in a city with a great public transport system, so he has no issues getting around if he needs to. The lack of personal vehicles also means he gets to spend more time walking with you, an activity which he has grown to really enjoy, so I suppose there is a silver lining after all. The two of you often work rather late, so the streets were usually barren by the time you leave the office. You and Zhongli would often walk to the train station together after your shifts have ended, basking in the stillness of the night and the almost alien glow of fluorescent lights.

He loves chatting with you during these walks. He would ask you questions about your day, about your work, about plans for the weekend. Sometimes he would point out the different types of plants and rocks he noticed on your walk to the station. In the train, the two of you would sit silently together, content to just enjoy each other's presence. Sometimes, on particularly rough days, you find yourself falling asleep on his shoulder while waiting for your destination. He finds this incredibly endearing, and would always take it as a cue to give you a quick peck on the cheek before tucking you closer to his side.

Sometime later, you two are awoken by the train staff. The both of you had fallen asleep on the train and had missed your stop. Whoops.

i love these! 

I really vibe with the Albedo one too - he’s very practical and pretty frugal, waste isn’t something he seems to enjoy creating so everything eco-friendly would be his go to ( we can be eco-friendly together my dear )

Writing Prompt

As you know, the Voice Actors (VA’s) of Genshin Impact play Among Us, and someone made an animation of Zach (VA of Aether) and Sarah (VA of Lumine) bickering like siblings. The animation is by Shmolo. 

Someone in the comments of that animation, their username is Annie from the Aether and Lumine VA bickering like siblings in among us animation by Shmolo, stated that: “Someone needs to write a fanfic about this!!! As in Aether and Lumine always pick opposite sides in a conflict at every world they visit just so they can have fun. Sometimes they “kill” each other but because they’re immortal, they act like it’s not a big deal and so they bicker in front of everyone like this and the other characters are between horrified and confused”.

I haven’t contacted that person about it, but the idea was in my head of how it would play out. Who you imagine one of the twins being from another side of conflict is up to you.

These VA’s really do fight like siblings, and that’s why I love these VA’s.

In all the worlds they’ve travelled through, the twins had the tendency to pick one side of each conflict that happens in order to satiate our boredom of their long eternal life. It was the same in Teyvat, but after seeing their sibling taken away, the other sibling was uncertain for a moment until they appeared again. That’s when they knew that the fun had only begun.

Alongside their travels throughout other worlds, they met a few people who too travel to other worlds, and she so happened to caught wind of a certain conflict going on.

“Hi” She appeared the two opposing parties watching in shock and horror in the twins bickering, “I was told that Aether and Lumine are fighting”.

It didn’t take long for Kismat to see what the conflict was about with the prominent stabbed marks on the Twin’s body.

“So Aether told his friends that in the dictionary,” Lumine came up to Kismat first, in which both parties finally took notice of her, and started to explain to Kismat her side of the story “next to the definition of satan is my picture”

“wha-” Kismat didn’t expect that

“and so…”

“I’m not speaking any false-anything false it’s the truth” Aether defended himself whilst also coming up to Kismat. The only thing Kismat could say nervously was

“wow”

“I basically murdered him like once”. There was a moment of silence as both parties looked at Lumine in disbelief while Aether seemed to twitch in anger in the memory of being murdered more than ONCE.

“Lumine’s been-Lumine killed me like 4 times in a row! Backstabbed me” Aether exploded ready to possibly ‘kill’ her sister whilst his party holds him back “Four times in a row!”

“And he turned around and killed me, and uhh…so I feel like we’re even”

“We are not even yet!” Aether’s allies held him back as he attempted to murder his sister once again “I-oh-I got to kill you at least 2 more times and then maybe…”

“You two better stop fighting or I’ll turn this car around right now, I swear” Kismat’s joke caused the twins to laugh, especially Lumine.

“But Dad” Aether said in childlike voice, “are we there yet?”

The Twins couldn’t help but laugh at the joke and Lumine started to heal Aether again.

“I only killed like one time”

“That is the biggest lie I have ever heard in my entire life”

“Oh my goodness gracious” one of the Twins’ ally started, “Lumine you killed him like 3 times”

“At least three, probably four” Aether stated

“Okay Okay Okay Okay BUT the third time doesn’t count” Lumine started off, “because I-I felt guilty, I felt so guilty that I was like saying to my friends that ‘I feel bad that I-I-I-I killed Aether and it was relatively early’. I was like I feel so bad and I’m not going to kill Aether next time and then he told his friends that I am satan and then so I was like ‘well…now it’s over. This is war…”

“And I was right” The Twins started to bicker again whilst Kismat explained what was going to the conflicting parties.

“Yeah, you see Aether and Lumine always pick opposite sides in a conflict at every world they visit just so they can have fun. Sometimes they “kill” each other but because they’re immortal, they act like it’s not a big deal. I’m sorry you had to see them being repeatedly killed over and over again”

uhhh well first of all I think childe x zhongli is like the most pathetic and boring "default" pairing this fandom came up with. they have 0 chemistry and I just hate everything about it. as much as I headcanon both as queers... together romantically it feels like 2 straight men put together by ya*i fans............ also before i blacklisted to ship and voluntarily looked through the ship tag... every post felt like a hard ooc. i could not understand what childe or zhongli are supposed to be as individuals, what they have in common, what kind of dynamic they have. deadass most crack ships with 0 interactions have more flavor than this tragedy

eng VAs are great people and appreciate their work but whoever decides the voices ain't doing it right. every male character sounds like a middle-aged white man.. and most of the youngest characters sound like very obvious adults trying to pretend to be babies. all of it irks me so bad god.. and there are so many characters that lose their little spark in eng........ (yet in korean and chinese they're completely fine??)

all of the playable adult male characters are shitty people in one way or another. none of them are good. they have reasons and different perspectives, yes, but they suck. every single one of them. stop ignoring it or trying to say only some are evil. none of them are inherently terrible.. but they're not these precious and righteous individuals. they're men.................... that says a lot, actually. :\

and as for women? god i hate the idea that they're all so uninteresting and weak. lichrally just a bunch of girlbosses, morals of most could be questioned as well... anyways some of the girls not having extremely dramatic stories doesn't make them any less cool. let them be
