hello (one of the) resident phannie data analyst(s) here with some parasocial stats on dnp’s movie tastes! following: distribution of dan and phil's ratings overall, movies they each rated 5 stars, their lowest-rated movies, and the similarities + differences in their tastes
(lore moment: yes i am a data analyst in my real job. yes i surprised myself with wanting to do this in my spare time. but then i remembered when we read dracula in college (yes i was an english major) and i graphed like, how many times dracula was referred to as vampire versus monster or something. so i shouldn’t be surprised.
first up, their overall rating patterns and by ~special status~ (i.e., wall-e, kill bill, avatar, lmao, plus big hero 6 for the fun of it)
dan’s rated 304 movies and phil’s rated 305. both of them have mean and median ratings of 4 with min 1 and max 5.
both rated kill bill vols. 1 and 2 a 5. wall-e got a 4.5 from dan and a 4 from phil (phake phans). both gave avatar a 3.5. and big hero 6 3.5 (dan) and 4.5 (phil)
rating distribution:
i did analyses here by genre but i need to fix the output (i’m writing all of these based on the markdown document from my phone on the subway, but i need to fix the outputs and i don’t have my computer. so those are pending but there are other genre analyses that i could do & haven’t yet!)

Hi! Ok so I don't know if I late to your Adele Song Tribute (if I am that's totally alright!) but if you still have space what about something for Tommy or Jonathan with the song Skyfall? Maybe something about reader standing by her man/comforting him when everything seems to be falling part? I think it's one of my favourite songs of hers and not just because I love the James Bond movie of the same name😂 you totally don't have to to though if you don't want too❤️❤️
Hey Addie! Don’t worry you’re never late 🤗 thank you so much for sending in this request! It’s the first one of the ones I got that I started worked with because I particularly LOVE that song and watching the performance to get inspiration is something I really enjoy! ♥️ so I hope you like this 🥰
The lyrics for the song are in italics. As I was debating whether what background story to choose from to develop this story, I had like a moment flashing before my eyes… I definitely enjoyed writing a dark Tommy story for “The way to a man’s heart” but the thought kept coming back to me, how about the opposite? How about someone who actually loves him and wants to help him and his family? So I turned everything upside down and came up with this.
Adele song: Skyfall
Skyfall
Tommy Shelby x reader (smut)
This is the end
Hold your breath and count to ten
Silence.
That’s all that filled the halls.
For this is the end
I've drowned and dreamt this moment
So overdue, I owe them
Swept away, I'm stolen
Y/N took a deep and shaky breath to build some courage and walked towards the love of her life.
Tommy had been staring at the road the police cars took after arresting Polly, Arthur, John and Michael, but they were long gone.
She’d never forget the look in their faces as they were processing what was happening; everything was caos, the people she considered her chosen family yelling, cursing Tommy, trying to find a way out. She felt useless.
Let the sky fall
When it crumbles
Esme and Linda were looking at Tommy with such anger, that it made her heart ache for him. Jaws clenched, pointing fingers at him as they were escorted out of the house.
We will stand tall
Face it all together
Let the sky fall
Softly she touched his shoulder to let him know she was close.
“Tom.” She could hardly even her own voice. “Come.”
It took a huge strength from her to snap Tommy out of his trance.
“Frances can you please prepare me a tea for Mr. Shelby? Lavender or Valerian Root… double.”
“Right away Madame.” The maid nodded and rushed towards the kitchen.
“I need to be alone.” Tommy mumbled as he stood in front of the staircase.
“No.” She stated firmly. “I’m -” her voice broke down a bit, “I’m right here for you Tom.”
“Y/N please,” he replied in that warning tone he used when he was about to loose his patience, “I’m not a very good company at the moment.”
Skyfall is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
Where worlds collide and days are dark
She could see the pain in his eyes, and it was the hardest thing to endure.
Tommy had stepped up for his family since a very young age, he worked really hard for everyone, put everything single member of the family before him or his needs… it was time to make him a priority.
She couldn’t look another way and pretend he was alright.
Because he wasn’t, but he didn’t know how to ask for help either.
With all the love she held in her heart for this man she kneeled before him, Tommy didn’t lift his head as it was hanging close to his knees, he looked defeated.
“You got this, Tom, love,” gently but with a firm hand, Y/N lifted his chin to make him look at her, “this seems like a very dark time and that everything’s going the wrong way, but you always find a way to make it better, you always find a way out.”
“They hate me, Y/N as if they needed one more reason… there was nothing I could do to stop them from going to fucking jail.”
“I know darling.”
“All of this…” he extended his arms while looking around the room, “money, power, and for what? They’re in a fucking prison cell, the size of a shoebox. Someone else paid the judges and police more than I did.”
Where you go, I go
What you see, I see
“That’s where you’re wrong, my darling… you can use it to get your position back, if they got your family in prison and they want to play dirty? But you can play smarter than your enemies, I know you will get your family out of jail soon.”
That seemed to work on him, his features were softer, his shoulders weren’t so tense.
“What would I do without you? Ey?” His thumb outlined her cheek.
“Drive Frances crazy?” Y/N joked earning a small chuckle from Tommy that felt like the sweetest thing ever. “Now, I know it’s almost impossible, but have some rest, it will help you think better in the morning.”
“Will it work if I say no?” Tommy tried, knowing the answer before he even opened his mouth.
“Absolutely not.” She slapped his arm lightly before extending her arms towards him to ask for help to get up.
Getting rid of his suit jacket she placed it carefully on the chair, then Tommy let her unbutton his vest and shirt, but first she needed to get rid of the holster and gun.
His mind was going down in a spiral with worry, fears, the monsters inside his head, the tunnel closing up while he tried to reach the stairs to get out… but there right next to him was a woman who trusted him, who believed in him, who was trying to be the light in his darkness.
The only one he could trust to disarm him, both physically and emotionally.
Before he knew it, she tucked him in bed now only wearing his shorts, then she took a cigarette and the matches and lighted it for him, knowing so well he needed a smoke.
“I won’t take long, don’t go anywhere.” She requested right before pressing her full lips to his.
There was only one way to make that mind of him go numb.
He needed to think straight to choose his next move, but he wouldn’t be able to do so when he was in that altered state.
So she removed her skirt and blouse, applied some perfume and subtle lipstick and walked out of the bathroom wearing only her intimate pieces of clothing, a silky short in pale pink with a touch of black lace and matching bra.
As she slowly and tentatively walked towards the empty side of the bed, Tommy was under some kind of spell, his eyes devouring her body.
He was in the same position she left him; the sheets around his waist, bare chest and leaning against the headboard.
Still looking vulnerable after the horrible events of the day, but in his eyes she found a small flame starting to grow with each step she took. As it grew Tommy licked his lips in preparation of what was coming, he was aware of the power Y/N held over him once the bedroom door was closed.
His mind was already in blank as she straddled him, her fingers running up and down his chest. Tommy’s hands immediately circled her waist as he looked up with adoration in his eyes.
“Y/N what are you doing?” Tommy asked in a whisper, his body reacting as she rocked her hips slightly, tempting him, barely brushing against his member.
“Taking off my clothes.” Y/N replied in an innocent voice as if it wasn’t obvious.
Tommy groaned in pleasure as her upper body wasn’t covered anymore. He only dared to close his eyes a moment as she took off his glasses very carefully and placed it on his nightstand. He hissed as she took again her previous spot on him, leaning down to finally give him a proper and deep kiss.
As his mouth explored her neck and collarbone, his hands removed her underwear. A moment later, she was helping him out of his shorts. The atmosphere getting heated rapidly… it wasn’t long before Y/N was rocking her hips back and forth, teasing Tommy, just allowing the tip of his cock inside of her body, as Y/N moved an inch down only to move up again almost all the way out. He protested and tried to move her body down again, he needed her warm walls envelope him.
I know I'd never be me
Without the security
Of your loving arms
“Fuck… Y/N.” He moaned and to her it was the most beautiful sound.
But she wasn’t going to give in, just as Tommy tried to grind her against his hard member, she moved up again. The burning feeling between her legs only adding more pleasure.
“Not yet dear.” She enjoyed the half empty feeling of just having his tip inside and decided to change her pace and angle by making circles with her hips.
Tommy was weak when it came to her, there was no use in trying to deny it, but when it involved her naked, he would do anything she wanted him to.
“Please… I can’t hold it.” She noticed the beads of sweat on his forehead, how tense his jaw was, his beautiful blue eyes closed and felt the rhythm of his heart against her palm.
That’s when she finally in a fluid moment took all of him, his eyes snapped open and a low fuck escaped his lips as he could only focus on the fluttering feeling around him. Y/N controlled her movements to prolong her own pleasure. Throwing her head back she gave in the feeling of being connected so intimately to Tommy, hitting the sweet spot inside of her over and over and suddenly watching him with his mouth hanging open, the veins on his neck pulsing, groaning and trying to not come undone before her it was too much.
“Don’t hold back.” Y/N encouraged him as she guided one of his hands to her center, where she needed him, his skilled fingers set her on fire in mere seconds and they both reached the climax together.
***
By the end of the night, Tommy was exhausted, Y/N noticed when the rhythm of his breathing changed and he stopped clearing his sore throat after too many cigarettes. She didn’t dare to move to make sure from her current position; head resting on his chest, his arm around her waist. But at least she achieved her main goal… make him feel tired enough to get some sleep.
She knew he would deal with everything in the morning with a clear head, but for now she only wanted to enjoy the feeling of his lean body relaxed, his deep breaths helping her to relax as well.
Keeping me from harm
Put your hand in my hand
And we'll stand
The following morning when Y/N opened her eyes, she noticed Tommy wasn’t in bed with her but she could hear him moving around the bathroom so picking his undershirt from the floor, she tiptoed towards him finding Tommy tucking his shirt inside his pants.
“Morning Mr. Shelby, slept well?”
“Like a baby, you wore me out.” There was a hint of a smile, before returning to his usual serious expression.
“I’m coming with you to the office.” Y/N announced, but before Tommy could protest, she added; “think you probably need some extra hands these days.”
Tommy swallowed watching her strip down to enter the shower. “Thank you.”
She’d choose to tease him for accepting help so easily, but given the circumstances she decided to pass on and hurry up, without his family around the work and papers would pile up.
“Can you take over Polly’s calendar?” Tommy asked as they rushed towards the door.
“Sure.”
“Ada will help us as well, I need to go out during lunch though, I asked Michael to do something but…” he trailed off and let the words hanging in the air.
As the car left Arrow House, Y/N squeezed his hand in an attempt to give Tommy some reassurance. On their way to the Shelby headquarters, Y/N helped him sign a couple of documents and a letter, as the ride went in silence, she knew he was already making a plan so she decided to give him time and space to do what he did best.
As soon as Tommy crossed the door Lizzie and other secretaries and employees were trying to figure out what would happen now, uncertainty decorating their features. Everyone following his instructions, not asking questions, they were just obeying his orders, he was back to being the boss once more, not showing an ounce of emotion, of course he wouldn’t show the vulnerable side Y/N saw the previous night.
Y/N marched to the kitchen in silence to prepare him some tea.
“This is a mess, how did you handled him last night?” Ada asked leaning against the table.
“As best as he let me.” Y/N sighed. “I think he’ll need something stronger, but Polly keeps the booze locked and I don’t know where her keys are.”
“I need to go through Arthur’s papers later, if I find something, I’ll give it to you.” Ada proposed in a low tone, still shocked.
“I’m planing to pay Polly a visit, she might need a change of clothes and other things, would you come with me?”
“The safe combination wont work, Y/N I need you to open it.” Tommy appeared out of breath, he looked like he had been moving furniture around and it was only past eight o’clock.
“Alright I’ll take that as my cue to go.” Ada left them with her own cup of tea, she had a long day ahead and knew when to stay away from her brother.
Pouring the two cups, Y/N gave Tommy his to try to keep him busy as he was looking over her shoulder, as if with that she would be able to open the safe faster.
“What’s so urgent?” She didn’t understand, Tommy had already paid for protection for his family while they were in jail. That was something.
But the combination she was using didn’t work either and Tommy was growing impatient.
“Hang on, Pol told me something about a picture.” Y/N clicked her fingers and started opening the back of a frame that was sitting on Polly’s desk, hidden behind a photo of Michael, there was a paper with the new combination.
“Why the hell did she choose to hide combination there?” Tommy complained, shaking his head.
“Because no one would think of opening a photo frame?” Y/N chuckled and left him to start organizing the things she would be helping around with.
First she started to make a list of the things that were needed at the office, then she got busy with the car spares of the upcoming shipments which kept her busy most of the morning.
The following weeks happened exactly like that, super busy days by keeping the books in order, registering the accountability made her feel exhausted by the end of the day and her feet were sore when she got involved in dispatching the Scotch whiskey. She could barely realize when it was lunch time and before she knew it, it was already nine o’clock and Tommy took some papers to keep working from home.
Rubbing his eyes, he locked the door to his office and walked through the empty property, all employees were gone home for the day, except for one; the most loyal one, the one who stepped in and didn’t ask what she needed to do, she got completely hands on immediately and didn’t stop until he was ready to go. Y/N had been developing incredible leadership skills, she made everything go right on time, she made sure meetings were efficient and all employees had clear instructions.
Tommy looked around for her since all he could find was silence,so it was a surprise to find her sitting on the floor inside the safe, somehow she also managed to make the count and organize the mess they had inside. After feeling on the edge for days, watching her skirt wrinkled, a lock of hair bothering her vision and making her blow some air in a lousy attempt to move it back made his day go a million times better.
She wasn’t a Shelby yet, - he should change that soon- but somehow she had managed to earn that last name by her endless support and all the hard work she was doing.
“You’re making me start thinking I should have everyone else fired and hire you full time, what the hell are you doing Y/N?” Tommy asked with his arms folded against his chest, the hint of a smile dancing in his lips. He couldn’t hide the amusement in his features.
Face it all together
At Skyfall
“Why do you have a King’s letter here?” Y/N raised her hand with a wrinkled paper, that caught Tommy’s attention right away.
“Where did you find it?” His eyes scanned the words at speed.
“After finishing the count, I started organizing the licenses and papers, this briefcase was at the back.” She explained showing him the other papers. “What’s the matter?”
Then, in a surprising motion, Tommy took her face between his hands and gave her a loud and effusive kiss on the lips.
“This is better than the fucking lottery!”
He announced storming out of the safe, Y/N rushed to close it before following his steps confused.
“You’re a fucking genius.”
“I’m not following.” She frowned while Tommy poured two glasses, this was the first time she saw him smile for weeks, his eyes finally showing life.
“I found that briefcase by accident some time ago, it involves the King in some shit ,” his eyes were shining like the stars outside, “this is my ticket to get my family out and all thanks to you.”
Tommy pulled her by the hips to make her sit on his lap.
“What are you waiting for then? Go on!” She encouraged him, but Tommy had other plans.
“If it wasn’t for you during this difficult time, I wouldn’t be able to do this, you know that right?” His hand came to caress her cheek while she took a moment to savor his sweet words. “This is far from the ideal proposal and I don’t even have a ring right now, but I need you to know that I want you by my side forever.”
“Oh Tommy!” Her eyes got teary, she was so tired and worried for him, thinking he would explode at any moment so this was totally unexpected.
And for the first time in days, they both felt like they did a good job by keeping the business afloat and finally the way to get the family free. After hugging tightly and another round of kisses, Y/N pulled back.
“First things first, we’re going to write a letter to get your family out of jail,” Y/N stated excitedly, “we should do a tea party and invite Mr. Churchill and other VIP guests.”
Tommy chuckled.
“And let me pick up Aunt Pol, she is still angry with you.”
“Fair enough.” He answered leaning back on his chair as Y/N was writing the letter.
After asking a blinder to deliver it personally, Y/N walked back into Tommy’s office finding him with his eyes closed and two fingers massaging his temples.
“Everything will be alright.” She hugged him from behind, taking in how worried he really was, but he had been disguising as strong and tough and intimidating all the time.
“I know,” when Tommy looked into her eyes, she found sadness. “Thank you for doing this.”
“Tommy… I knew you’d find a wait to get them out.”
“This shouldn’t be happening. Not to them.”
“Let’s focus on the future now, hmm?” Y/N kissed his cheek.
That was all he could think of now. And all of the things they’d do together.
He was so grateful for the way she managed everything, kept him grounded and focused, encouraged him to keep going, to not give up, she stood up for him when he needed it the most.
And there was nothing on earth good enough to show her how grateful he really was.

What’s on your letterboxd four favourite films?
Don't use letterboxd, but my fave four would be, in no particular order (bear in mind that I have Not Seen that many movies, and when I do watch movies, I usually go for action/adventure blockbusters that make dramatic use of the widescreen format):
Mad Max: Fury Road (the only film I love this much that I've never considered writing fanfic for, because it's so astonishingly Good I don't even want to touch it)
Inception (king among heist movies, a gorgeous high-voltane mindfuck starring all of the prettiest men alive, including a pre-transition Elliot Page — lives rent-free in my brain as a fusion of two of my favorite genres, low fantasy and heist films, hence the 80k Six of Crows AU. Considered giving this slot to Skyfall, which scratches the same itch in my brain, but I rewatch this a lot more than Skyfall and if I'm honest the writing is a smidgen tighter. For years I have been trying to psychically assail Christopher Nolan with my treatment for a sequel about Arthur and Eames working for the British secret service while Cobb goes playfully and ominously un-mentioned)
Challengers (insanely good writing / cinematography / direction / acting / editing / costuming. everything. jesus god. everyone working on this project Gets what it's about on such a high level the coordination is exceptional. the cinematography is extra to the point of being goofy sometimes but I've always fucked with a little melodrama when the situation calls for it)
The Sound of Music (one of the first movies I ever watched, my favorite musical of all time, includes some of my favorite songs of all time, and one of my favorite love stories of all time. maria's struggle between her love of the family/the Captain and her duty to god is [chefs kiss]. the dance scene where he's wearing the white gloves remains unmatched in terms of conveying sexual tension through dance. the COSTUMES!! insane. insanely good. actually I'm going to go watch it again right now
#admittedly I haven't given Challengers enough time for the shine to wear off yet#but it's what would be in my top four if I made one today

i love it that you reblogged the “get to know the blogger” post bc i saw you reblog a lot of “le belle et la bete” gifs and was curious about your general taste/favourite films 👁️👁️
this is going to be so long i'm sorry but i just love talking about it so let's start!
i'm going to highlight some of the movies from my favourites list on letterboxd aka the movies that butter my bun:
— Skyfall (2012) and 1917 (2019) both directed by Sam Mendes are honestly great movies with Skyfall for me being the best Bond movie and 1917 as one of the best war movies. What made 1917 one of my favourites was the watching it at cinema experience plus the reveal in the end is just *chef's kiss*
— Tarantino movies. Like that's it. I know a lot of ppl don't like him but for me he's one of the best writers and sure has his problems but you cannot deny his work is great. Inglorious Basterds for me take the cake as his best movie with Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill: Part I being up there as well. One of his underrated movies is definitely Jackie Brown which I've loved.
— Period dramas. Another one of my fave genres. Emma. (2020) being one of my favourite movies. Emma (2009) is also a great adaptation albeit it is a series. Pride and Prejudice (2005) and (1995) are great as well. Little Women has recently grown on me way more and remains my favourite Greta Gerwig movie. Another underrated movie for me is Ophelia which as the title says focuses more on Ophelia from the play Hamlet. It's really well done and I've enjoyed watching it.
— This one is also a period drama but it is a bollywood movie so I wanted to highlight it. Jodhaa Akbar is a MUST watch such a good movie it's insane like I'm sorry you have a sword fight sequence between two lovers and you have won me over.
— Let's get franchises out of the way. Obviously Marvel movies are some of my favourites with Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: Ragnarok which are in my top 3. Both Black Panther movies and Spider-man: No Way Home are taking honourable mentions. For their series my favourite has been Moon Knight. (Sony gets their cookies for Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse and obviously Venom because come on now eddie and venom are otp y'all don't get it like i do)
— Next big franchise is Star Wars. Original trilogy: Empire Strikes Back. Prequel trilogy: Revenge of the Sith (I'm an Anakin girlie unfortunately) and Sequel trilogy: The Last Jedi (Rian Johnson supremacy). Series: Obi-wan Kenobi (i cried). Honourable mention to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (i also cried).
— Since I mentioned Rian Johnson let's expand on that because the man just gets movies and everyone should watch Looper and Knives Out!!
— Denis Villeneuve. MY MAN!!!! Arrival and Dune *chef's kiss* if you can bear longer movies also Blade Runner 2049 but it isn't one of my favorites exactly because it was long and boring. And since probably someone will say the same for Dune at least Dune has you looking at Oscar Isaac and Timothee Chalamet sure they look miserable but that's when men look the best.
— Spy movies? like idk how to call this but let me list them all. Anna (2019) they succeeded where The Red Sparrow failed like if you're looking for anything similar to Black Widow Anna is the one I would recommend a thousand times. The Nice Guys and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. great comedies I just love them. It's not really a spy but assassin I guess but John Wick franchise is the shit and the best movie is obviously John Wick 2.
— Another director that has me is unfortunately Christopher Nolan. Can I get more basic than that? I do admit his faults and that's sound mixing is fucking awful, I don't understand his movies while I am watching them most of the time and this man cannot write a female character for the life of him BUT 🎶 shapes and colours 🎶. His ideas are what draw me in and it's just visual masterpieces doesn't matter if I can't hear the dialogue if it looks good am I right?
— Smashing musicals and animation together because this is already becoming too long. Singin' In The Rain and The Sound of Music are a MUST watch and also I'm a Phantom of the Opera girlie so if you're going to watch anything watch the 25th anniversary version. I am also unfortunately a Hamilton girlie and the damage to my life caused by that damn musical is irreparable. For animation musical Hercules, The Emperor's New Groove, Anastasia, The Lion King and Tangled and purely animation Howl's Moving Castle, Lilo and Stitch, The Incredibles and Inside Out.
— Now it's time for a quick fire: Ford v Ferrari and Rush are two best movies for my motorsport girlies, Gone Girl and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for my book girlies, Death at a Funeral and Hot Fuzz for the british comedy girlies, i'm also unfortunately a Titanic girlie probably the movie i've watched most in my life, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS!!! A. MUST. WATCH. Monty Python movies are great if you ignore some of the outdated jokes. Jackie is one of my favorites just because it's one of Natalie's Portman's best performances and that's also including Black Swan but both movies are also visually stunning.
— The Death of Stalin is one of the best comedies as well. Ready Player One is one of my weirder favourites since many ppl see it as an average movie but i'd recommend it to anyone (literally can't believe it's my favourite Spielberg movie 😭😭). Also add to the video game genre Tron: Legacy because I will also recommend that movie to anyone. The Grand Budapest Hotel is also a must watch like if anyone made the world go through a pink paint shortage before Barbie did then it's this movie and finally The Batman (2022). Let's end on a battinson note just because.
— Crazy to think I haven't even mentioned all of my favourites but I guess this is kinda the jist of it all. Basically my taste is anything as long as I like it I guess jsbsjsbsjs. (I forgot to mention the horror genre but that's just because I don't really have a favourite movie like if I had to say anything it would be The Conjuring movies.)
— As for Le Belle Et La Bête it's one of my new favourites and honestly got me into a french cinema mood so I'll probably find more favourites there. One of my goals has always been to watch more foreign movies but not many have entered my favourites club unfortunately. Also fuck disney live-action remakes (except you cinderella (2015)).

Someone asked....I became a Bond fan in 1964 when I was 11 and saw Goldfinger in the movie theater. Saw all the Connery films, but after I went to college never watched another Bond, busy doing (ahem) other things. Fast forward to 2010 when I saw Ben Whishaw in Perfume, followed him to Skyfall, stayed for Spectre and NTTD. Love Daniel as Bond, the rest of them - meh; with Ben and Daniel gone, I'm probably done with Bond. What other fans (film/fanfic) say or do or say holds no interest for me.
Thanks for popping in!
Goldfinger is my favourite of the Connery films, though I saw it for the first time when I was too young to understand how outrageous a name Pussy Galore was! She's still one of my favourite Bond women.

loved the way you wrote it brigadeiro, it sounded cute as being british. oh no dont say that i'm sure your handwriting its even prettier!
as for films, i could talk about them for hours and never get tired. but coming up with a list would be difficult, do you have any criteria such as my fav films i’ve seen this year or comfort films, or by genre, etc?
it can be your comfort films and your favorite romcoms too.
i still didn't started bc of my work but when i finish i promise tell you about it
my favorite superhero is batman. i'm just a superfan of it, i have comics, shirts and even one sweatpants. about favorite villain maybe i can say magneto from xmen? i just love him and his ideals. (he's a villain i know but sometimes i agree with him about humanity). about my favorite character at comics it can be scott summers (i don't like him in the movies) and jean grey from xmen. my favorite movie is the dark knight but going away a bit from batman it can also be 007 - Skyfall, i just love it that movie, james bond from this actor is simply amazing i really watched all the movies at once and fell in love. and a really bad one that i really like is 2012, i swear that i already watched that movie like ten times. and about some comedy one i love "the nice guys". and now i need to apologize from rambling haha.
can i have your letterboxd? or its private?
-💌
awww thank you, i might have absolutely butchered the pronunciation but it looked delicious when i looked it up online x
hmmm, i think i’ll go for two lists in that case!
drew’s top 4 comfort films: (1) top gun: maverick (2) the holiday (3) national treasure (4) 12 angry men
my 4th fav is continually changing! tg:m’s is a classic summer feel good film, and i’m obsessed with rooster’s wiggle, hence my user. funnily enough, i avoided watching it when it came out bc i didn’t think it would be as good as the first but after reading a few fics and seeing the trailers and gifs, etc i knew i had to watch it and i’ve never been happier to be proved wrong. the holiday and the national treasure are my childhood favourites, and i never fail to watch the holiday between christmas and new year’s (my tradition)! as for 12 angry men, it’s representative of the art of conversation and simplicity as well as the depth of character that i’ve been really big on this year and it just encompasses that beauty of cinematography in a very conversational film, big recommendation of you haven’t seen it already.
drew’s top 4 romance films: (1) 4 weddings and a funeral (2) before sunrise (3) 10 things I hate about you (4) gentlemen prefer blondes (bonus!) tangled
i suppose that’s very british of me to put 4 weddings first but i just love hugh grant’s delivery, it’s so simple and his character’s wit it incredibly charming. it’s just such a lovely film and really representative of the right person, wrong time. whether i believe in that is another matter but it’s a lovely film. before sunrise is again another very conversational film and i just love that dynamic. the next film is pretty obvious, it’s a sort of feel good, makes you blush when you watch it and the same goes for how to lose a guy in 10 days. gentlemen prefer blondes is reflective of my love of older films, and marilyn’s line in that has to be one of my favourites. i just love witty, smart and strong women in films and i like to think that it’s what i’m like too so i feel that extra connection.
i do love the dark night trilogy, it’s so well done and christian bale is incredible as batman. i love that you’re passionate about batman and i see your point on magneto. scott in the movies just ugh, he really irks me. i have to warn you though, i am a marvel girl (old marvel that is, not the newer films or tv shows).
james bond is a classic, i’ve been watching the whole series since i was little and my favourite would have to be between no time to die and on her majesty’s secret service, but probably leaning towards the former.
just saw nice guys recently actually. i wasn’t expecting to love it as much as i did but i adored the direction and dialogue. they found a way to take a hard topic and convert it into this super engaging action comedy. my top comedy would have to either be how the grinch stole christmas or the mask.
please don’t apologise for rambling, it’s lovely to hear about your interests x
&& unfortunately my letterboxd is private

okay i hear you on that concert shit LMFAOOOO like that sounds rough!! but i'm glad you got to see her so many times<3 okay yes literally obsessed with rachel and tom right now........ had to go rewatch tbosbas like 2 days after initially watching it because i was so into it! and i absolutely LOVE having muses for so long - and especially dob from teen wolf era! brother you've been through it huh<3 i'm getting a lot of good info here...... lot of good info! i'm rapid fire throwing questions at you now. what sort of music would you use to describe patrick (like if you already have a muse playlist, feel free to use that!), what faceclaims would you love to see more resources for, what has been your favorite thing about rp/tumblr for you, and what's some of your favorite movies and why! - ss
please <3 thank you! it's been a long time coming for real, the eras tour was my first tswift tour cause it's the first time she came to brazil rip. but honestly.. i've been wanting to rewatch tbosas ever since i saw it for the first time and the songs from that movie are living in my mind RENT FREE. i can not forget rachel belting can't take my charm out of nowhere... insane. i'm gonna be real with you and say my playlists almost always include taylor swift songs only cause... that's mostly what i listen and draw inspiration from. however.. around the time i made patrick there was one song i always used for edits and that was skyfall by adele. specifically the lines you may have my number, you can take my name but you'll never have my heart as well as the bridge cause it truly represented his feelings towards his twin sister and everything they've faced together to me. other songs i can name are kiss with a fist by florence and the machine, whatever it takes by imagine dragons and if you could see me now by the script. those are probably old as fuck but they're the ones i can remember the most. as for faceclaims i wish had more resources... honestly that's so hard cause i usually jump in to make resources of people i wanna use when they have absolutely none LKADJASKL but recently i became obsessed with adim farah, a turkish show and derya pinar ak who's an absolute beauty but has too little resources. matthew noszka, who's one of my favorite white boys of the month and michael yerger who's also a white boy i love and been wanting to use because i became obsessed with cowboy books. alfie enoch, he's in so many things and the lack of resources that isn't from how to get away with murder is insane.. kazuha from le sserafim, minnie from gidle and god, huh yunjin with her new ginger hair cause they're favorites of mine right now. my favourite thing about writing on tumblr/roleplaying has always been the collaborative aspect of it cause i work constantly with screen writing and while it's amazing to use my creativity i feel that roleplaying truly gives me an opportunity to develop ideas and characters more thoroughly whether it's through plotting or just writing with others. i always feel like my most developed muses are the ones that i created and used through group verses / group rps cause the “forced” interactions with other characters always helps me get to know them more and think about different paths of thoughts and quirks they could have as well as add more to their backstory so it’s always the most fun. i'm always a big big big sucker for group verses settings because of this. i'm almost done.. i promise, i'm rambling too much in these and i promise i'll try to stop KSAJDL but as for movies, i'm very much a horror girlie. my all time favorite (and comfort movie tbh) is scream. but some of my other favorites are the shining (1980) and psycho (1960). i've always been obsessed with the horror genre, mostly cause my cousins would make me watch horror movies when we were younger and spent every summer break together.. chucky is one of my favorite movie characters of all times, i just love him and the movies are some of my favorites as well. i'm a stephen king girlie through and through, even if the most recent it movies aren't the best thing ever i still love the characters so much.. and honestly one of my favorite films ever made is stand by me (1986), i literally cry every single time i watch it cause the whole friendship / growing up and growing apart situation is so beautifully done. the i never had friends like i did when i was 12 quote truly is my roman empire i think about it twice a day.

Dr. No - A Modern Movie Review
Terence Young's 1962 film Dr. No is the first in the long running series of James Bond films. I have to admit, this is the first Bond film I have ever watched that doesn't star Daniel Craig as 007, but Sean Connery did NOT disappoint. That man exudes all the sex appeal, suaveness, and danger that I could hope for in a Bond.
Overall I have to say, the movie wasn't my favourite. As an avid Skyfall fan, I’m used to more intense fight scenes and dramatic lighting in visually rich scenes, maybe even a single complex female character. But despite the blatant sexism (did Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) have a purpose besides to be hot?) and the fact that not much really happens until the last 20 minutes of the movie, of course it was a blast. As mentioned, Sean Connery is incredible to watch, spy movies are always fun no matter the quality, and as the first of many Bond films it sets up a lot of the classic tropes. Hearing Connery say “Bond, James Bond” made me silently shriek from excitement, I couldn’t help but clarify “shaken, not stirred” when he ordered a martini, and the first mention of SPECTRE had me hyped.
I would be lying if I said that the best part of the movie wasn’t seeing Bond be the rizzler that he is. I don’t know how smart he is (why would you drink the coffee the villain offers you??) or how much he cares about other people (rip Quarrel (John Kitzmiller), you didn't even want to be there), but I do know that this man FUCKS. Miss Taro (Zena Marshall) is a double agent who sets Bond up to die - he escapes the trap, smashes, and then sends her ass to jail. Hilarious. My man has one priority at all times and from this movie I have no reason to believe he has a sole reason for being a spy other than to get bitches. Again, the movie is quite sexist and a lot of the scenes of him with women are borderline uncomfortable, but at the end of the day it’s a movie in the 60s based on books from the 50s, I have to suspend disbelief a bit to enjoy it, okay?
There’s honestly not much else to say about this movie. It’s fun, it’s flirty, and I would do anything for Sean Connery in a suit.
-----------------------
To clarify, I have difficulties making decisions and like to leave everything up to chance, so I have an ongoing list of movies I’d like to watch and I use a random number generator to pick what’s next. So for our next movie, I rolled 151/279, which is Rodrigo Cortés’ 2012 film, Red Lights.

Weekend Top Ten #568
Top Ten Years for Films in My Lifetime
I don’t know if it’s just me being a random nerd whose brain works in particular way, but I tend to mark the passage of time by things that came out. For instance, you say “1993” to me, I instantly think of Jurassic Park. 1998? Half-Life. 1984? Well, blimey, where to start? Transformers, probably, based on everything that came later. And so it goes. 2012 was Avengers, Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, and I suppose my firstborn, who also came out that year.
So I’ve often pondered which was the best year. Y’know, which year had the best films or games or whatever? And so we get to this list, in which I rank years based on the films that came out.
I’m gonna come back to this well in the future, as I look at other media and decide which were the best years for games or TV programmes or whatever. But for now we’re looking at films. And it’s pretty simple; I’m going to decide which years were the best years based on the number of excellent films that were released. And this is only going to be about film, which sadly means the release of Transformers isn’t allowed to influence the position of 1984 in the list. Fortunately for 1984, a lot of great films came out that year too. And that’s pretty much that! Which films had the best years. Or, er, vice versa.
I’m sticking to the years of my life for this, because I think I’d struggle to parse whether 1942 or 1969 or 1977 was the better year (Close Encounters came out in ’77 though, so that wins; sorry Casablanca and Butch Cassidy). But I feel pretty confident judging 1988 against 1996 and 2007 and 2019. Because I was there.
So what are we waiting for? Straightforward one this week so let’s just get to it.
1999: going into ’99, I was probably all about The Phantom Menace, but however much of a Jar Jar Apologist I might be, that’s not one of the films that makes this easily the best cinematic year of my life, and surely a candidate for the best of all time. The Matrix, Fight Club, The Sixth Sense, Toy Story 2, The Iron Giant, Talented Mr. Ripley, 10 Things, Man in the Moon, and American coming in flavours of both Beauty and Pie. I mean, blimey. That’s not even everything I saw that year. At least the millennium ended on a high.
1993: maybe this is a personal one because this year was so influential to me as a kid. But even setting aside the colossus that is Jurassic Park and Spielberg finally wowing the establishment with Schindler’s List, you’ve still got the Ramis-Murray masterpiece Groundhog Day, The Fugitive being an action movie nominated for Best Picture, one of Robin Williams’ finest comic performances in Mrs. Doubtfire, Tom Hanks defining cities in both Philadelphia and Seattle, Stallone giving us both Cliffhanger AND Demolition Man… wowza.
1984: yes, even if I’m not counting The Transformers, ’84 was still a banger; so many of the films and franchises I loved growing up began life that year. From Gremlins to Ghostbusters; from Terminator to Beverly Hills Cop; from This is Spinal Tap to Nightmare on Elm Street. Even the first Police Academy! And Temple of Doom and Search for Spock might not be my favourite entries in those franchises but, hey, still more Indy and Kirk!
1987: another banner year for kickstarting franchises. Predator, RoboCop, and Lethal Weapon (before it was a bit problematic) all started in ’87. But you also had The Princess Bride, The Untouchables, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and Empire of the Sun. Two great Vietnam films, Full Metal Jacket and Good Morning Vietnam. Evil Dead 2, one of the funniest horror films of all time. And probably my favourite British film of the last forty years, Withnail and I, one of the most quotable movies of all time.
1994: maybe this is the most single influential year of my life! I mean, Pulp Fiction came out, for goodness’ sake. The Lion King, probably in the top three Disney films. Speed, arguably the best American action film of the decade. Everyone whines about Forrest Gump beating Pulp to the Oscar, but the best film of the year was Shawshank Redemption, which won nowt. Four Weddings was maybe the big comedy, culturally speaking, but Jim Carrey released three films this year. What a flex.
2001: it’s supposed to be about more than one film, but any year that The Fellowship of the Ring is released is going to end up on the list. Fortunately there’s more to celebrate: Shrek, Moulin Rouge!, Spirited Away (in Japan at least), Ocean’s Eleven, Memento, Amelie, A.I., Pearl Harbor… ha, no not really, Pearl Harbor sucked. Oh, and Harry Potter came out, which is a big deal culturally but not super-big for me. Lord of the Rings though? Yes please.
1988: not the first and won’t be the last time I end up with two consecutive years in this list! ’88 has two of my favourite films of all time, Roger Rabbit and Die Hard. I could stop there, but Akira came out and was only the second best animated film of the year, because My Neighbour Totoro also came out. Beetlejuice turned Michael Keaton into a superhero. Rain Man is one of Tom Cruise’s best performances. Coming to America is Eddie Murphy at the height of his powers. Big is probably when Tom Hanks became Tom Hanks. Good year for movie stars!
2018: the most recent year on this list and really it’s because it might be superhero cinema’s golden year. Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon, Into the Spider-Verse was an animation milestone, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies was the comedy of the decade, and as for Infinity War… well, I genuinely think those two back-to-back Avengers movies are as impactful and important as Lord of the Rings. Outside of the cowls and capes, there’s Mandy, Annihilation, Bumblebee, Mission: Impossible: Fallout, The Post… even the presence of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again can’t dimmish the overall quality of the year.
1995: this was another big year at the time, and a year when I felt I really fell in love with cinema as a hobby. We have another milestone with Toy Story, but we also got directors giving us mini-masterpieces, some of the best films of their careers, with the likes of Heat, Apollo 13, 12 Monkeys, and Seven. And if that’s too many numbers in one go, at least the excellent Die Hard sequel was called “With a Vengeance” rather than “3”. There’s Babe, GoldenEye, and The Quick and the Dead, which I mentioned last week. Plus despite their problematic directors both Braveheart and The Usual Suspects were tremendous.
2012: I’m not sure if my love for this year is genuinely all cinema or if it’s not other things bleeding in. The whole palaver around the Olympics and pretty much the last time it didn’t feel crappy to be British is one thing, but also – yes – I became a dad this year. Super-significant. But, no, I think the films helped too; the 50th anniversary of Bond was celebrated with the incredible Skyfall, absolutely one of my favourites of the series. And, bloody hell, The Avengers happened, which is really when the MCU kicked off. That was an incredible moment in cinema. Lincoln, one of Spielberg’s best of that decade; Looper, Rian Johnson delivering on his early promise (Bruce Willis’ last great role?); Django Unchained, still my favourite late-era Tarantino; Dark Knight Rises stuck the landing, I don’t care what you say; and The Pirates! is the best Aardman film. So yeah, quite a lot of good stuff. The kid’s alright too.

So I got my wisdom teeth removed which means I’ve been sitting in bed binging kpop content as one does when they have a mouth full of gauze and I may or may not have listened to Gambler by Monsta X for like the past two hours on loop so I’m curious what your opinions on it were. I think I saw somewhere that you had plans to put out a post on it but I’m assuming you got busy with other stuff unless I missed it then it that case ignore me.
I’m very glad that I.M continues to be horny on main. For the longest time, I thought his line was “Hard as F” instead of “Hot as F” and I did not question it. Monsta X are really the only group that are allowed to have absolutely random and incomprehensible English lyrics (and also maybe Lucas). Like “I’m a handsome sum of money”, “my suit is black, my suit is fresh”, “Zero, Zero Lucky Bang”. I don’t know what that means but they say it so well that I don’t care. The intro to the song was interesting with the monotonous singing and I was a bit worried until that electric guitar started and IM and Kihyun’s parts and then I was absolutely sold. That bridge with the “she’s gone” part and the final chorus absolutely kills me like this song just continuously gets better and better and builds and builds and it’s so satisfying. It’s 4 minutes long and it feels it but in the best way? Like it toys the line between being too long but having enough interesting, different things in there. I’m of the opinion that this is Monsta X at their finest. Like they are such a consistent group and they know exactly what is expected of them and they delivery every time.
i hope you are recovering from your wisdom teeth surgery!! i got mine out when i was 17 and it was awful. i couldn't eat real food for two weeks and now i can't drink protein shakes without getting war flashbacks
you are correct i am going to talk about gambler! however i did kind of re-jig what i wanted to talk about about it, which is a very weird sentence to type out and read back in my head. i originally wanted to talk about the steadicam work in the music show stages, because it was one of the first comebacks that i've seen that in this year, but then over the last month or so there's been a whole bunch of steadicam stuff so i was compiling it all to make into one bigger post talking about several different songs/groups. but then also someone sent me an ask about want and then i got a bit off the rails because you know me and taemin, so this actually gives me a chance to talk about some of the other stuff in the gambler mv that i found interesting!
i do agree (and i've said this before) that mx is one of the most consistent groups active right now. they've established a really strong group brand that's been relatively consistent across their korean promotions and it's a look that really works for them as an "older" idol group (they're not old, it's just that they're not 22). although their mvs have usually been very sharp and well styled, i think these last three (korean) comebacks (fantasia, love killa, gambler) have had the strongest aesthetic and thematic unity, in addition to branching out a bit more from the general visual structure of a kpop mv. a thing that happens sometimes with kpop mvs is that the performers don't look like they belong in the sets; this happens most frequently with white/black voidspaces, but it also happens when, for example, they're out dancing in an empty dilapidated warehouse wearing pristine tailored suits. but the fantasia mv is practically draconian in it's commitment to colour palette and ornament, so by sheer visual force everything is integrated. love killa has a very cinematic and referential style without being overly obnoxious about those references. and gambler follows along the same vein as love killa but goes that extra bit further. i would not be surprised to find out that these are all directed by the same person.
to answer the question that you were not really asking, a fair amount of lyrics are referential to james bond. so the "my suit is black, my suit is fresh" -> famous for the traditional black suit/white shirt combo. "zero zero lucky bang" -> zero (0) zero (0) lucky (number 7) bang (the famous shot from the gunbarrel intro). "i got a vesper martini" -> a type of martini that the bond girl from casino royale is named after (vesper lynd), also martini (shaken, not stirred). it's obviously not a 1:1 because the mv takes more from bank heist tropes than strict spy tropes, but there's enough crossover that the comparison still works! another good example of using an existing property for spice rather than as the sole theme.
gambler, like fantasia, has a very strict colour palette, and does a really great job of integrating costume into enviroment. it's not perfect, since i think in the cinematic language that they're trying to establish the leather looks are a bit kpop, but i don't really have a real complaint about them because if mx can do anything, they can pull off leather. but in every other look, they look like they belong in those environments. it helps that a lot of it was filmed on location in (i think?) a hotel, so there was an oppotunity to match the style of the suits to the architecture and decoration of the preexisting rooms, as well as doing additional set dressing.
it's kind of interesting looking back at their mvs, prior to 2020 they were very focused on the performance/dance element of the mvs, which tracks because their performance and presence is one of their stronger traits. but the last three comebacks, which have been post pandemic and post wonho, have spent more time on creating a different viewing experience with the mvs, and then leaving their music show stages + other performances to pull out the big guns (shownu's arms).
#and yes if you are wondering i have in fact seen every bond film#mx w#and skyfall is one of my favourite movies of all time#the cinnamon topography......immaculate#the adele bond song........stunning#ive been thinking about the final fight sequence in the moors like once a month for the last 9 years#also the shot of him riding the boat into the dragons maw in macau......so heavy handed but MWAH it looks so good#also i keep wanting to write gamblr instead of gambler........sigh#i risk putting myself on thin ice but i actually really like all about luv and think its a very cohesive album#someones someone middle of the night and who do u love are some of the best english releases by idols#monsta x#kpop analysis#kpop questions#text#answers#group analysis#im going to finish this want writeup (its convoluted) and then move on to steadicam stuff#im going to cover gambler/dont call me/advice/sf9 teardrop/kingdom karma/ace higher/maybe taeyeon weekend?#im taking suggestions though if you've noticed steadicam in any music show stages that's been interesting please send me a message!

Hiya!! 4 and 14 for the ask game? :D
Hiii bestie! :) I am answering this now (when I am tipsy) because I had a busy homework day on Sunday.
4. Who's wardrobe would you like to steal?
I think that I already dress similarly to Capaldi!Doctor/Twelfth Doctor, especially during the wintertime. Just tons of plaid trousers and ratty old sweaters and hoodies. And I dress like Rose Tyler on casual days. So I could share wardrobes with them.
However, I think that I might like to steal Martin!Doctor/ The Fugitive Doctor's wardrobe or Dhawan!Master's.
I'm not really sure why, but I love The Fugitive Doctor's outfit. I might have some sensory issues with the tuffy ruffles of her shirt because I don't know material it's made out of, but I love the look of her vibrant shirt covered by the TARDIS-like blue of her suit.
And The Master is The Master. They are always classy. I saw your post praxeus-13 with this number, and I totally agree with you! Dhawan!Master's outfit gives me gender envy! I want to look as good as he does!
But, also, I want all of The Doctor's and The Master's coats! I need them!
And (finally as a drunk note) I just wish that I looked good in ties, bowties, suspenders, etc. I don't think I do, which makes me sad, but I always looked to The Doctor and The Master as the pinnacle of fashion and my genderfluid self wants to look like those genderfluid alien.
14. What's a song or piece of writing that you associate with a character/story arc/relationship on the show?
I love looking through soundtracks for any form of media; it's one of my favourite things to do when I become invested in a new show/movie/etc. So, I definitely find myself listening to songs from Doctor Who in my day-to-day life. Rasputin by Bony M, Voodoo Child by Rogue Traders, I Can't Decide by The Scissor Sisters, Chances by Athlete, etc.
I listen to Skyfall by Adele a lot when thinking about Spyfall parts 1 and 2.
And I think of Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams when I think of Tennant!Doctor/Tenth Doctor because of episode The Christmas Invasion.
Now a list of my random maladaptive daydream song choices -
Where Did The Time Go? by Dr. Dog - Travelling with The Doctor or Master
Ruler of Everything by Tally Hall - Master vibes
Problem by Mother Mother - The Master x their love interest
Arms Tonight by Mother Mother - That one scene from Last of The Time Lords where The Master died in The Doctor's arms
As The World Falls Down by David Bowie - The Master seducing their lover
Cold Cold Cold by Cage the Elephant - This song reminded me of Vincent Van Gogh, but also my own struggles with depression and anxiety
Spillways by Ghost - This song reminds me of all the trauma both The Doctor and The Master faced at the hands of Gallifreyan Elders, but this song is also the inspiration for a fic/maybe fic series I am making about The Reader being the Timeless Child (thanks to a very kind anon)
And finally (I have more if anyone is interested) Sunflower, Vol 6 by Harry Styles reminds me of Vincent Van Gogh
#ghost’s posts#ask game#dw ask game#doctor who ask game#I talk way too much in general but especially when I am drunk#@praxeus-13

Top 5 fics meme
Tagged by my saati @shes-a-voodoo-child which reminded me how good her Lix/Randall in Spain fic is, among others. These are in no particular order except the first.
1. Such a time as this (The Tudors, Anne Boleyn) this is my favourite thing i’ve ever written. It’s Anne Boleyn as Esther, as a biracial Persian (and Syrian) Jewish woman - inspired by the fact that she had her chaplain preach a sermon about Esther and thinking about anti-semitism, about the way Christianity uses the Esther story. I wrote it despite my terror of getting my own identity and faith wrong - it’s about identity, about being safe nowhere and yet the joy of being Jewish even so. About being a biracial Persian (Syrian) Jewish woman myself, about the power of stories/storytelling and community.
2. With snow far below (Band of Brothers, Roe/Renee) this fic is from 2009 (it could actually be earlier but it was posted on AO3 in 2009) which means that I remember precisely zero about writing it because uh Trauma Bullshit but this one still sticks with me - Renee is entirely fictional as far as I know but it was very ‘writing about a female character’ feels, especially because one of my history areas of interest is WWI/II and women. I wanted to give her an interiority and a story and I think it really did work.
3. Monuments, historical and contemporary (Criminal Minds/Pundits, ensemble) this is also from 2009. It’s heroism, how we remember, how we don’t, collective trauma and the ways in which all the ways we do good, do kindness do matter. This one really just wrote itself in a giant flood from the first opening image - it’s set in a friends specific AU verse as well. Also it has what I still think is a very good bit about writers and how they use writing to deal with things.
4. I am a princess on the way to my throne (Skyfall, Moneypenny/Severine) this one. Because in all honesty so much of Severine’s story was one that I found in mine, because I wanted something different for her ending - much as I loved the movie. I wrote this one entirely for my own joy.
5. Normality in a post it note cord (Spooks/MI5, Zaf/Adam) this could actually be my very first Yuletide fic (though there could have been an earlier one…) or as I like to call it ‘Adam Carter Is A Fucking Traumatised Mess Send Help. No Seriously, Someone Please Send Help’ and Zaf who is trying to hold it together and kind of is, actually. It’s about identity again as well - the kinds of ways they as spies have one but don’t and the varying degrees of ways that works or doesn’t.

Which Filmbro movie I think every driver likes a little too much
Lewis: Interstellar. Please you just know he watched this and thought it was the deepest shit ever. He probably shed a tear or two when the power of love saved the day lmao.
Charles: Whiplash. I just know Charles sees himself as a tortured artist okay, and he’d probably completely miss the point and think what Miles Teller’s character did was admirable.
Pierre: The Big Short. Listen, this bitch is into crypto. I feel like I don’t have to say anything else.
Daniel: Baby Driver. He would think the car chase sequences are the greatest cinematic achievement of all time and that its soundtrack is so cool - and also, Edgar Wright’s dumb humour is right up his alley.
Sebastian: Drive. I feel like he’d appreciate the artistry of it all and he wouldn’t admit it but he’d look at Ryan Gosling’s character and be like omg he’s literally me.
Esteban: The Dark Knight. It has come to my attention he’s a huge Marvel fan and it’s literally the same thing but “darker” so I know he thinks it’s the height of cinema and Christian Bale is his role model.
Lance: Inception. Esteban and Lance think Christopher Nolan is God’s gift to cinema you can’t change my mind. He probably drones to his gf about how smart this movie is and how the ending is brilliant and she’s just like mhm okay sweetie please just come to bed.
Mick: Blade Runner 2049. Kinda reaching with this one but I just feel like he enjoys the existential dread of it all. He also probably relates to Ryan Gosling’s character, like mentor like mentored.
Fernando: Ford v Ferrari. I feel like he would appreciate how it shows the olden days of motorsport and how executives ruin everything, he would also think it deserved to win the Oscar over Parasite.
Valtteri: The Godfather. If any of the drivers can sit through a three hour long movie it’s definitely him, and he does feel like he’s superior to everyone else for saying it’s his favourite movie.
Antonio: Die Hard. I love him but he’s a little basic, a little predictable. He probably quotes from it a lot and just likes to watch people blowing things up.
Lando: The Wolf of Wall Street. Have you seen what he gets up to in his free time I’m 100% sure he thinks Jordan Belfort was cool as fuck and he completely glosses over the fact that this movie clearly shows why that lifestyle sucks.
Carlos: Scarface. I don’t know ya’ll I just know deep in my heart he’s done a bad Tony Montana impression more than once in his life. “Say hello to my little friend!” okay man tell us what happens in any other scene of the movie I dare you.
Max: Fight Club. He would un-ironically think Tyler Durden is the coolest character ever and also that starting an actual fight club is a genius idea.
Checo: Gladiator. I’ve never in my life met a dad who doesn’t consider this the best movie of all time, that’s my entire thought process.
Yuki: Inglorious Bastards. Man likes his violence and I feel like Tarantino’s brand of fucked up humour very much appeals to him. He also probably gasps every time Michael Fassbender throws up that three.
George: Skyfall. He’s British.
Nicky: Saving Private Ryan. I remember the selfie in that war tank Mr Latifi, I never forget.
Kimi: Terminator. He probably relates to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character man idk.
Mazepin: Joker. No explanation needed.
#this is such a niche post lmao#but I had to do it for the pretentious film students everywhere#formula 1#lewis hamilton#charles leclerc#pierre gasly#esteban ocon#lance stroll#daniel ricciardo#sebastian vettel

Ranking Every Moneypenny
After experiencing the fever dream that is the 1967 Casino Royale last night, I can now say even more definitively that I have seen every James Bond movie, and I am therefore finally able to express my opinions on who gave the best performance as the franchise’s most iconic character: Miss Moneypenny.
6. Pamela Salem (Never Say Never Again, 1983) I feel a bit bad for this actress being cast as a replacement for Lois Maxwell in a weird low-budget knockoff Bond. The script just doesn’t give her much to do and she probably deserved better. However, it makes her the least memorable Moneypenny of the bunch.
5. Barbara Bouchet (Casino Royale, 1967) This woman is even more unfortunate, having been cast in one of the most bafflingly bad movies I’ve ever seen in my life. However, she’s one of the best parts of it, and I would probably rank her higher if it wasn’t such a tough competition with the Moneypennys from better movies. She’s the only Moneypenny to absolutely canonically get laid on-screen and I love that for her. Also, an honourable mention goes out to the never-actually-seen character of her mother, the elder Miss Moneypenny, heavily implied to have fucked David Niven Bond. Love that for her too.
4. Caroline Bliss (2 films, 1987-1989) A very solid Moneypenny I would have liked to see in more movies if the Dalton era hadn’t been so short. I love that she has glasses—very good look for the character. Her dynamic with Dalton Bond is fun and I love when she and Q try to help him a bit off the books with his revenge quest in Licence To Kill. I’m glad that general concept came back some of the later films because it’s very cute.
3. Naomie Harris (3 films, 2012-2021) I have a lot of mixed feelings about the Craig movies that I could go on about at length, but one of the things I do really like is that the later ones gave Moneypenny a bigger and more active role to play in the plot. Naomie Harris is great and I’d love to see her remain a part of the franchise in whatever form it takes after Craig. (Is it too much to hope for them to make a spinoff in which she and Lashana Lynch and Ana de Armas all team up to save the world together?) Also, the shaving scene in Skyfall is a masterpiece and I fully believe that it was foreplay and Bond and Moneypenny immediately fucked afterward.
2. Lois Maxwell (14 films, 1962-1985) OG Moneypenny. This absolute legend played the role across 14 movies and 3 Bonds and killed it every time. Especially memorable is her performance in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, absolutely breaking my heart in the wedding scene even before things get even sadder at the very end. She doesn’t quite make it to #1 on the list because of my own personal subjective emotional attachment to the Brosnan era, but I love her and she rules.
1. Samantha Bond (4 films, 1995-2002) GoldenEye is the movie that got me interested in James Bond, and remains one of my absolute favourites after catching up on all the rest. The other Brosnan films have a bit of a dip in quality, but I still thoroughly enjoy them all and Samantha Bond’s performance is always a highlight. Her relationship with Brosnan Bond is extremely cute and funny, and I wish their reunion at the end of Die Another Day had been actual canon rather than misuse of Q’s VR headset thingy. However, the fact that she’s on the clock using company equipment to watch James Bond VR porn is also very iconic. Plus her last name is literally Bond, so clearly being in these movies was her destiny. 10/10 best Moneypenny. Thanks for reading!
