Book Explanation Post
Ok, so the story will take place in four different parts of the world and distinct timelines for two of the characters. There are four characters:
Draven (Hybrid, in the UK)
Evelyn (Human Experiment in Oregon, USA)
Zevonia (Faerie Creature in Transylvania, Romania)
Baxter (Human in Munich, Germany).
It’s basically about how a different group of beings in the world (Humans, Human Experiments, Creatures and Hybrids) live and survive. Cause in this book, the Creature and Hybrids are basically illegal and are seem as dangerous and should be killed or sent to a facility if seen or caught. But even the Human Experiments get it worse as well.
But when it came to people being sold off to in the underground auctions or facilities, it doesn’t matter who you are, they don’t care and will do it for money, both Humans and Creatures.
And now this year in the year 2020. I had vowed to finish this book and get it published after 11 years of dicking around with this (started at the age of 12 with the small idea until it grew when I was 15, and life happened, and now I’ve been actually writing this since 2018 at the age of 20)
Also, this story begins in 2013 and has a five-year time stamp on what happens from them explaining how they’re living for the past five years to when the characters actually meet up and form their group. (Cept for Draven and Evelyn.)
**Side note: There are two countries in the world that are safe havens for Creatures and Human Experiments:
UK
Sweden
And that’s where rescued Creatures and Human Experiments go-to for refuge and to live without getting killed for no reasons and sold out. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn't happen, though it’s illegal to and it’s being stopped. They also do kill the auctioneer and their followers or anybody apart of the auction wanting to buy a Creature or Human Experiment. And it’s run by Creatures as well. (Yes, the Queen is a CREATURE!)**
~~~
Draven is a Hybrid who is 1,000 (21) years old who's been owned, sold out to, tortured and all that for 334 years cause his older brother, Logan, hates him for being a Hybrid. He's also the second youngest of ten kids:
Logan
Victoria
Bucky
Steve
Coraline
Axl
Xion
Anastasia (his twin sister)
Draven
Riko.
In which Logan is the biggest arsehole ever, and everybody wants him dead (but I'm not going to kill him cause I like to piss off my friend and Tim with the fact that the bastard child won't be dead anytime soon). The night before Draven was sold, Logan killed their own mother, Draven's twin and lover in a house fire just to make Draven's life more miserable. Draven then goes on a killing spree in a white rage, killing 3 million people in a white rage for the loss of his twin sister and lover before Logan found and sold him off. (Logan also ended up kidnapping Xion and has hidden her in Russia somewhere) He was sold off to an underground auction for bout 450k£. He had been sold off to from "master" to "master" (He would also kill his "masters" and would get caught months later, cause he had no idea how to defend himself at the time until years later. He's killed 4 out of 7 "masters") before he landed in America and killed the last "master" he had.
This is where the real story begins to where the other characters will be involved. Draven then finds out bout the underground auctions and bout facilities (a place where Humans get turned into a Human Experiment via Creature Blood. They're kidnapped as babies and kept there to be experimented on. Creatures get sent there by authorities, so it's like a Creature prison as well.) and stumbles upon one where Evelyn is at, rescue Evelyn and the other prisoners before blowing up the facility to the ground.
I'm not going to tell you more on what happens cause it'll ruin the book.
Draven is very anti-technology and will NOT pick up a phone, computer, etc., in fear he’ll be tracked down and sold off again. He can kill them, but he wants to not do a lot of killing, so he can try to give Hybrids a good name.
He’s also got a safe house in a very secluded area and loves it there to relax and be away from the bullshit of the world. But, sadly, he doesn’t live there at all, cause he’s afraid that he’ll somehow be tracked there, despite hum making no technology to be tracked from and uses so many protection spells and techniques to keep that house safe from ever being tracked down by scent. And that nobody can even enter the premises cause of some Creature repellent that immediately kills anybody who tries to enter.
He’s got trust issues and barely trusts anybody, but sees good in Evelyn. He’s a messed up dude with a shit load of problems and can’t even trust his own shadow cause of the bullshit he went through. (I put him through.)
~~~
So a Hybrid is a mixture of ALL the Creatures in the world. It's almost like a birth defect. They're godlike and really powerful; unlike in Draven's case, he was suppressed from ever using or leaning his powers, so he didn't even know how powerful he was until he escaped the final time.
Evelyn is a 19-year-old Human Experiment who escapes with Draven and tries to live her life as a Human Experiment. She's a “Dream Waster”, technically she can manipulate thoughts and create fake memories and thoughts of oneself into anything she wants that person to believe what I want them to believe. She’s got the IQ of 174 and one of the only Human Experiments with a high IQ, so she got tortured and experimented on the worse.
She doesn’t know who her parents are, due to being kidnapped by one of the workers of the facility. So she doesn’t even know if she has any siblings (I’ll probably give her an older sibling.)
Oh, the government knows about this shit and were the ones who allowed it to happen in the first place.
I can’t tell you any more on what happens in her life, cause it’ll ruin the story.
But she’s a very sweet girl who’ll kick your arse if you fuck her over.
~~~
Baxter (Tim’s ( @nycterisarts) German husband. Haha) is a 22-year-old Human who’s a Creature Hunter that wants what's best for his younger siblings and his mother. He’s the eldest of 5:
Baxter
Zollar
Fredrick
Hugo
Shoshanna
His father got killed by a Werewolf Creature when he was 12 or 15 (I forgot the correct age and I can’t find my notebook filled with my information and small details, cause I just moved and everything is packed up.) in front of him and got scarred by it and vowed to protect his family and be the best older brother and the son.
He’s got scars from the Werewolf Creature attack on his face and upper body area and doesn’t care for his appearance as his family is already known to be the best Creature Hunters in Germany and everybody hires them to hunt the Creature for money in their village, cities and towns.
He’s a badass motherfucker who cares for his family and will kill you if you hurt them. He’s serious at what he does but is a loving and playful brother. Just not on a job. He’s asshole™ but can be a teddy bear.
~~~
Last but certainly not least, Zevonia. She just an 809 (17) Faerie Creature who just wants to not get killed by anyone and run the clothing shop she got after her parents left after Adrian was born.
She’s also the middle child of 3:
Sebastian
Zevonia
Adrian
She’s the only one who runs the clothing store and works with Mermaid Creatures who owns a jewellery store and they both help each other get the jewels and fabrics for their shops.
She’s pretty good at keeping the shop standing for the past 190 years but wants to design outfits for Creature models that are in some countries and in the UK and Sweden.
She’s a stubborn headed, thoughtful girl who is still growing and learning more of the horrible world. She is just a little shit wanting to fuck shit up and cause havoc for the Humans and the government.
~~~
talking abt the visual novel characters under the cut <3
mayhart player character. red-haired human commoner, youngest child of her family, last child born of her mother before mother died and father remarried. shorter than average (5′2″ as female, 5′5″ as male) named mayhart because she was born on the fourth of may. wild & uncontrollable, bearing a rage that she herself doesn’t even understand. grew up a commoner alongside her childhood friend yerick. widely rumored in town to be a changeling- she doesn’t act the way a normal human should, never knowing when to leave well enough alone or how to calm down and settle for her lot in life (the number of times when she, accompanied with yerick, has been chased back to town by some beast she provoked in the woods is uncountable). was recently conscripted into the army and adopted by the duchess koballe after her latent magic appeared. one of very few people who can use offensive magic and not purely reconnaissance/traveling magic. finally has an outlet for her rage, and somewhat hates the things she does. wears standard military uniform but badly- doesnt entirely understand how all the straps & bindings work and will not learn :) as the player character, she can be male or female. as a male, his rage turns inward, and as a result he is less open with his own emotions and keeps all his feelings hidden within himself. openly contemptuous of the war, but far more polite than his female counterpart. neither version holds any respect for anyone who hurts the weak. neither can hold their liquor either. 21 in human years
demavieve eldest princess of the draconic realm- as such, the future sovereign. the draconic realm is the only country allied with perine in this war which makes several people very nervous (its like if the us allied with luxembourg in a war against belgium france germany & the uk excep the us was the only country with nukes). demavieve has a very strong sense of honor though so constrains herself to a human form along with swordplay. this is less dangerous than it seems because if demavieves human form dies then she just turns back into her draconic form. her human form also has red hair, but its far more tameable than mayhart’s. she wears it tied back in a ponytail in general. she wears a perine knight’s uniform with vestments from the draconic realm to signify that she is (a) a foreign-lent soldier and (b) a commander. her human form is muscular and about 6′6″. hot and well aware of it.arrogant but also very friendly about it- ‘you love me? haha, of course you are! you seem great too!’. kind of sees this whole thing as a game- dragons live a lot longer than humans, and something like this is just a blip on her radar. very low empathy until someone she cares about is hurt at which point everything goes out the window (and she cares about pretty much all the perine soldiers- not in a very respectful way, but she loves them all and she goes apeshit sometimes). very friendly with serenina. can absolutely hold her liquor. only romanceable as f!mayhart. 23 in human years, ~150 in real time.
serenina the only princess of the former emperor and empress. i spoke about her in more detail in another post so this is gonna mostly be glossed over. wears her hair in afropuffs cause she does her own hair and shes proud of it. temporal (reconnaissance) magic. desperate to please. legally only friends with demavieve, although also friendly with yerick. about 5′0″ although she desperately wants to grow taller (unlikely). her eyes look like theyre black but if you look closely (which she probably wont let you do) theyre actually purple/indigo. is completely out of touch with the rest of the world because shes a princess but she is also very sincere and tries her best to be helpful when she can. very expressionless and sensible. not very well-liked as the former princess of the warmongering emperor and empress. actually very touch starved. does not wear standard military uniform outside of mage’s robes, which she wears over tea dresses (which is another reason some soldiers dislike her) is kept away from alcohol as much as grayson can and as such will get drunk off half a cup of wine. sleepy drunk. 18 in human years.
grayson the bastard son of the former emperor, sereninas older half-brother. grew up as a commoner in the same area as serenina & yerick until he was brought into the royal castle at age 9. fiercely protective of serenina. faux affable- you know the ‘expressionless smile’ princes from otome games/manga always have? thats graysons face pretty much always. legally not eligible to the crown (due to some religious issues with committing patricide & stepmatricide) but like. like hes already doing everything? yk how it is. highest commander of his troops attempting to broker peace with the other countries perine was at war with (most noticeably alloue, nawolem, & farik in order to attack caledonia, which was the puppeteer behind the former reign) but is not above underhanded methods/tactics including attacking noncombatant targets (they dont even have geneva). very intelligent & very calculating- consistently calculates highest reward/lowest risk maneuvers and has them executed flawlessly. his own cunning scares him on occasion, but he mostly locks that away- theres no time for those kinds of feelings in war. a foil to f!mayhart- she is wild, he is restrained; she shows her true feelings regardless, he always acts at a happy neutral; mayhart confronts her uncomfortable feelings, grayson hides them from everyone. about 5′11″, has long dreads that he keeps tied back. dressed in perfect military regalia, including commander’s cape & military crown (basically just a circlet). also cant hold his liquor- hes nearly as bad as serenina. 25 in human years.
izyn the son of count dau claire, the only noble house in perine that has been loyal to grayson since before the deaths of the former emperor and empress. very quiet because he has social anxiety. completely brainless. very friendly but his height (6′4″) and imposing aura (he gets nervous) means that the only people who can easily communicate with him are yerick and grayson. black hair, cropped short, and green eyes. skilled swordsman, mid-commander. will get trapped in an unwinnable situation which yerick needs to save him from. wears his military uniform right but...........not really? he wears the base uniform right but always forgets his commander’s cape. has a dedicated fanbase that came about when he did his training shirtless. literally doesnt think that any of his problems are that deep (honestly doesnt think anything is that deep). suffice to say, theres a reason why count dau claire never shows up and doesnt seem to be involved in any of the decision making of the count’s matters. very protective of yerick (younger brother). is the most visibly affected by the war- as the one who is usually in the center of the violence and doesnt have a survival cheat like demavieve, he has pretty bad ptsd which coupled with his anxiety issues make him a hot mess. his hobbies include hiding in dark rooms that have been reinforced to the point where literally only yerick can get in. despite his size he gets drunk very easily- not as bad as grayson & serenina, but 1-2 mugs of beer puts him out. 26 in human years. only romanceable as m!mayhart
yerick adopted son of count dau clarie. childhood friend of mayhart. born an orphan, an old woman took care of him til he was 4 and she died. stuck around mayharts town cause their family would give him food whenever he stopped by. still ended up fairly malnourished. small but vicious- hes screamed at mayhart lots of times for the stupid shit they would get him into and is not afraid to smack some sense into them. however he is not a good fighter because hes physically very weak- most of his energy in developing went to his magical capabilities, which came to fruition when he was 6. about a year after that (with a great deal more shunning from the townsfolk besides mayhart), he was adopted by count dau claire. was sealed with a subordination seal (used in order to ensure compliance with reasonable requests as long as a reasonable argument is made) for a year to ensure that he wouldnt run away. izyn liked him right away, but it took about 18 months for yerick to not be completely vicious whenever he was approached. as of the modern day of the vn, yerick is as protective over izyn as izyn is him- yerick has seen some of the worst of the world, and in his opinion izyn has not (this is despite the fact that izyn helped overthrow the royal family at age 15 but in fairness to him izyn told yerick none of this) so he wants to make sure his big brother stays happy. yerick holds absolutely no loyalty towards count dau claire or even to grayson- he is loyal to his own needs first, with a decent second being izyn and an even further distant third being mayhart & their family. very prickly & well acquainted with the fact that most people are inherently selfish and would turn away from an orphan on the streets. abandonment issues. his spatial magic is mostly used on rescue ops (mostly mostly getting izyn out of situations where hes surrounded by enemy soldiers but this extends to other perine soldiers). wears his uniform properly, including mage’s robes & commander’s cape over the standard perine uniform. hates to ever appear weak ever, so when he has to go to the medical tent izyn has to either force him there or pretend to be tsundere and throw bandages at him. izyn desperately wants to dote on him but that is one of yericks Hard Boundaries. theres like ONE time when yerick falls asleep because of arcane overexertion and izyn piggybacks him back to camp and yerick acts like its the most shameful secret in the world. foil to m!mayhart- very open with his anger & feelings and shows when he is angry and accepts that part of himself, open with his loyalties and doesnt give a fuck about it, doesnt like the war but does respect it. despite his size, it takes easily 3 barrels of alcohol to even get him tipsy, izyns lack of alcohol tolerance pisses him off cause he has to walk him back to his tent. 5′4″ and wants to grow taller but has accepted his fate. 19 in human years.
eliya legally not a combatant. former princess of caledonia, was discovered at 12 to hold the power of the divine will and so was sent away from her mother and father (who she perceived as loving) to be raised within the church as a holy sacrifice (those who hold the power of the divine will release a huge psychic shockwave when theyre killed, so she was basically raised to be a holy tyke bomb). has a lot of religious obsession, prays 3x a day and has been brainwashed into believing in the power of holy judgement- essentially, her church handler (aka the deacon of the church where she was raised) has raised her to believe that if she commits a sin she’ll be killed so she has a LOT of anxiety over doing the right thing.at the same time shes been brainwashed into believing that doing anything in the service of the throne of caledonia is morally & theologically correct. shes also had occasional contact with her parents (like a yearly dinner or smth) and so still has a lot of loyalty to them due to how they manipulated her and her relationship with her little siblings (7 yrs younger x 2, 2 yrs younger, 13 yrs younger). completely devoted to her church, would gladly martyr herself for them (however this wouldnt trigger the shockwave needed by the army). is loyal to her parents, the deacon, and then the church. is captured by the perine army after a raid on a noncombatant area and spends a lot of time figuring herself out. foil to serenina (esp in terms of loyalty & parents/siblings, emotions (eliya has a lot of them and shows them, serenina is the opposite), their royal treatment, their relationship with trust (serenina doesnt, eliya does and worringly easily). long golden hair, light blue eyes. wears neither a military uniform nor a priests’ uniform, instead wears a one-piece white ‘dress’ (really more a tunic/oversized shirt) & is barefoot. desperate for attention, praise, love, etc. widely disliked due to her POW status but she really thinks shes making all these friends. has quite literally not been able to make her own choices since she was 12 years old. above average alcohol tolerance but nowhere near yerick. 19 in human years.
#.din#.txt#my ocs#im warming up to the title smile⭐smile⭐smile also but it also kind of seems stupid? idk#anyways. eliya was originally a male character but i hate hate hate when one gender has more characters than the other#also yes demavieve & izyn are both gay but all the other characters are bisexual.#also yerick & demavieve are both trans but im allowed to wog that because im also trans.#i also see both mayharts as trans but like it wont come up in the vn again im allowed to do this because im trans#also my favorite characters are yerick & eliya. grayson & serenina are close seconds followed by the mayharts.#after that would be demavieve and then izyn sadly comes in last i still like him but its like i can trust him alone yknow#like leaving a 10 year old home alone while i run errands i dont think izyn would blow up the house. all the others would immediately.
Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings. A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. Television shows can be viewed as they are broadcast in real time (live), be recorded on home video or a digital video recorder for later viewing, or be viewed on demand via a set-top box or streamed over the internet. The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 1930s. Televised events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 1937 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 1947 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1948, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 4, 1951 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 1954 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 1954. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 1965, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 1972, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season. FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 1980s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 1980s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure,while the later series Babylon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 2012, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 2012, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. If you are wondering what you can watch on this website, then you should know that it covers genres that include crime, Science, Fi-Fi, action, romance, thriller, Comedy, drama, Anime Movie, etc. Thank you very much. We tell everyone who is happy to receive us as news or information about this year’s film schedule and how you watch your favorite films. Hopefully we can become the best partner for you in finding recommendations for your favorite movies. That’s all from us, greetings! United States When a person or company decides to create a new series, they develop the show’s elements, consisting of the concept, the characters, the crew, and cast. Then they often “pitch” it to the various networks in an attempt to find one interested enough to order a prototype first episode of the series, known as a pilot.[citation needed] Eric Coleman, an animation executive at Disney, told an interviewer, “One misconception is that it’s very difficult to get in and pitch your show, when the truth is that development executives at networks want very much to hear ideas. They want very much to get the word out on what types of shows they’re looking for.”[7] To create the pilot, the structure and team of the whole series must be put together. If audiences respond well to the pilot, the network will pick up the show to air it the next season (usually Fall).[citation needed] Sometimes they save it for mid-season, or request rewrites and additional review (known in the industry as development hell).[citation needed] Other times, they pass entirely, forcing the show’s creator to “shop it around” to other networks. Many shows never make it past the pilot stage.[citation needed] The show hires a stable of writers, who usually work in parallel: the first writer works on the first episode, the second on the second episode, etc.[citation needed] When all the writers have been used, episode assignment starts again with the first writer.[citation needed] On other shows, however, the writers work as a team. Sometimes they develop story ideas individually, and pitch them to the show’s creator, who folds them together into a script and rewrites them.[citation needed] If the show is picked up, the network orders a “run” of episodes — usually only six or 11 episodes at first, though a season typically consists of at least 22 episodes.[citation needed] The midseason seven and last nine episodes are sometimes called the “mid-seven” and “back nine” — borrowing the colloquial terms from bowling and golf.[citation needed] Thanks u for visiting, I hope u enjoy with this Movie Have a Nice Day and Happy Watching 🙂
Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings. A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. Television shows can be viewed as they are broadcast in real time (live), be recorded on home video or a digital video recorder for later viewing, or be viewed on demand via a set-top box or streamed over the internet. The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 1930s. Televised events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 1937 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 1947 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1948, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 4, 1951 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 1954 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 1954. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 1965, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 1972, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season. FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 1980s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 1980s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure,while the later series Babylon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 2012, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 2012, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. United States When a person or company decides to create a new series, they develop the show’s elements, consisting of the concept, the characters, the crew, and cast. Then they often “pitch” it to the various networks in an attempt to find one interested enough to order a prototype first episode of the series, known as a pilot.[citation needed] Eric Coleman, an animation executive at Disney, told an interviewer, “One misconception is that it’s very difficult to get in and pitch your show, when the truth is that development executives at networks want very much to hear ideas. They want very much to get the word out on what types of shows they’re looking for.”[7] To create the pilot, the structure and team of the whole series must be put together. If audiences respond well to the pilot, the network will pick up the show to air it the next season (usually Fall).[citation needed] Sometimes they save it for mid-season, or request rewrites and additional review (known in the industry as development hell).[citation needed] Other times, they pass entirely, forcing the show’s creator to “shop it around” to other networks. Many shows never make it past the pilot stage.[citation needed] The show hires a stable of writers, who usually work in parallel: the first writer works on the first episode, the second on the second episode, etc.[citation needed] When all the writers have been used, episode assignment starts again with the first writer.[citation needed] On other shows, however, the writers work as a team. Sometimes they develop story ideas individually, and pitch them to the show’s creator, who folds them together into a script and rewrites them.[citation needed] If the show is picked up, the network orders a “run” of episodes — usually only six or 11 episodes at first, though a season typically consists of at least 22 episodes.[citation needed] The midseason seven and last nine episodes are sometimes called the “mid-seven” and “back nine” — borrowing the colloquial terms from bowling and golf.[citation needed] Thanks u for visiting, I hope u enjoy with this Movie Have a Nice Day and Happy Watching 🙂
Listening to my dad just talk on and on and on, he lives the sound of his own voice. He wants things to be his own ideas but I am sorry old man his ideas are useless, nobody wants what he wants anymore “are you done?” looking up at him “I wish you wouldn’t get cheeky with me, I do try” try he says “ok, listen to me. I want to ask you something, it’s playing on my mind. I don’t know how you sleep at night. You may class your first born as your eldest son but I do, I have an older brother. What’s his name?” my dad slammed his pen down “I didn’t want you to go out search for him, leave it as it is. He is no use to us, he lives just fine. You will see it. Go Germany” he’s a real asshole “I will, what’s his name huh? You wanted me to know, I ain’t say shit to your other kids. Do you have any pictures of him?” my dad sat back in his chair “why would I? He is useless to me, I needed normals kids, he just wanted loving and I can’t give that. His name is Adam Davenport, he lives with his mom and they live well ok? Now stop” shaking my head “nah, I won’t stop. I would like to see my oldest brother, you’re one sick man you do know that right? Even if my first born has issues I will love it, I didn’t grow up with love but somehow I bought myself up to love. You gonna die and people are going to be happy you gone, that ain’t no legacy. I am sure you felt the same way with your dad” getting up from the chair “none of you or mom bought me up, I did it myself. Shamefully I lost my mind when I was twenty because you know I had drugs on my lap, I could get anything. Thank you for getting me back together so I can be better person but now I ain’t making that mistake again, I just hope you can change because you don’t have much time to live” I am surprised my dad ain’t trying to beat my ass, but then again he is getting old and maybe he regrets things.
Closing the office door “upsetting your dad again?” my mom said as she walked towards me “when do I ever upset that man? I barely said a word to him, just the truth” my mom is sly too, she knew about this “so uhm, Adam Davenport” my mom sighed out “so you knew but you let him do it, you never ever as a woman said let my eldest brother be with us? He has down syndrome who fucking cares, y’all weak as shit” my mom glared at me in anger “it makes it worse because you knew, I need to buy a new place. I can’t stand to see any of you” my mom clasped her hands together “you have to understand this family, it’s not rainbows and butterflies. You can’t have feelings, it’s all about having an heir. This is what we are waiting for with you” I wanted to laugh, Naomi can’t give shit “I am telling you now, if I have a daughter. She will be the heir, I don’t care for this male shit bullshit. Just admit you failed as a parent, Malik is where sorry? Oh yeah, Vegas for the fifth time falling asleep in someone’s pussy. You two are never parents, who is chasing him? Nalah, I forgot. You just continue to do your nails ok” they both stupid, money hungry assholes.
I got to leave for New Jersey tonight, I have to overlook the real estate there. Before that I need to get myself a coffee, I am tired “Malik, I was just speaking about you” he is finally home after going missing for a few days “about what?” he looks bad “well you know, didn’t know where you was? Why didn’t you say? I was worried at least” Malik chuckled “I was in Vegas, didn’t know anyone cared” he shrugged “well since being back home I am now seeing you’re never here” Malik pointed at him “actually, why are you here?” rubbing the back of my head “because me and the wife aren’t getting along, I don’t want to live with her. You missed it, her father came along. I made dad lie and say I was away, it’s funny what you can make dad do when you find shit about him” sighing out “but anyways, why don’t you come with me New Jersey? You know, can show you the things how it works. I want you to work?” Malik is lazy as shit, he wants to live the life but not work “you know what brother, you can do this” he walked off like I knew he would.
Staring at the boards at Starbucks, I actually might get a Latte. Stuffing my hands in my pockets, there is always a damn queue in this place. Looking down at the sandwiches, I might get a sandwich actually. I am always on the go, in a week I will never stay the full week in Texas, it is hard to run a whole business. I hate meetings though, my dad is better at that he can talk but me on the other hand can do it but hate it. Picking out the Chicken BLT sandwich, this looks nice actually staring down at it “Maurice?” that voice, my eyebrows knitted together looking up ahead of me “what you mean Maurice? How do you know him?” looking to the side of me and at the table, my eyes widened. Dropping my sandwich to the floor “Bonita? I mean Robyn. What are you doing here?” picking my sandwich back up “uhhh, oh wow Kellen, Tiffany” Kellen squinted his eyes at me, I am speechless the fuck is this set up “I came to see my friend, I have time off from work, you knew this” oh wow, she is so beautiful “ok, what is happening here?” Kellen had to be here “next please” looking ahead of me, it’s my turn, this is so fucked up.
Holy shit she is walking over to me, I never knew I mean I have been very busy for once but I wasn’t ready. Pushing my snapback down further more “I did actually tell you I was coming” Kellen is staring at me so hard “I’ve been busy and my mobile number has changed, like an idiot I dropped it in the toilet. Yes I use my phone in the bathroom, so I got a new one I was going to tell you but this was literally yesterday it happened. Wow, this is happening so quick. I mean I just can’t believe you’re here” I needed to mentally build myself for this and now look at me, stuttering all over the place “well here I am, I got a week off so I came to see Tiffany and then you are here. I didn’t come just for you so you can switch that thought off” my smile grew “well erm, it’s good to see you Bonita” Robyn placed her hand over her mouth giggling “it’s how I imagined” biting my bottom lip, do I hug her. What do I do” I am so awkward “I mean this is the first time meeting, it had to be here. I wish I knew earlier now, I mean do I hug you? That is what people do when they meet right? I mean is this something you wanted to see?” Robyn laughed at me “well you did say you would show me Texas, get your Latte” she pointed out, the person didn’t even say anything “oh yeah” grabbing my Latte to go “and that is what people do when they actually meet you’re right” Robyn walked off back to Kellen, she dresses so good.
I wish this didn’t happen though in front of Kellen “cousin” Kellen said, smiling at Robyn as she sat down “I will give my new mobile number” Robyn pointed at me smiling “well, you are my tour guide” see, this is what I love about her “I am just going to speak to my cousin, be back” Kellen got up from his seat “enjoy your sandwich though” smiling at her, Kellen hit my arm wanting me to go. Stepping outside knowing for a fact what this nigga going to say “ok, what the fuck?” holding my drink out to him “hold it” I want to unlock my car door, Kellen is in shock just staring at me and I know what he wants to say but I don’t want to know “Maurice, nigga. Talk to me” pulling open my car door, grabbing my Latte from him and leaning down into my car and placing it into the holder “I am talking to you, what do you want” moving out of my car and turning to him “how?” he said, I shrugged “how, what? What is it? Come on” Kellen looked at the Starbucks “how do you know Robyn? That’s my friend” licking my top lip looking up at the sky “we spoke” closing my car door, I just didn’t want him to know and now he does.
Sitting on the edge of the car front, taking a bite of my sandwich “spoke? When? I introduced you to her at the wedding and you didn’t care, what is this speaking you’re saying? She knows you’re married” staring at the sandwich, this is good actually “nope, you’re not going to say anything either” looking up at Kellen “why wouldn’t I?” is this nigga dumb “Kellen, I added her on Facebook. Shit just escalated from there, don’t blow this for me. You know my situation and you know I never wanted to marry her, please Kellen. I won’t hurt her, we are just getting to know each other, I think she is nice” my cousin is not happy “but I don’t want her to get hurt, like you said. She is nice, I am a bad friend if I lie. Tiffany will kill me” getting up from my position “does she know I am married?” I asked “no, she ain’t even met Naomi” that is a good thing “Kellen, Naomi is not for me. The marriage is gone, she can’t even have a fucking baby. I am done, just shut your mouth on this. I ain’t ask anything from you but this I am, please” Kellen placed his hands on the top of his head “fine, if you hurt her. She is innocent in this, I will beat you myself. I am lying to my wife here” he can’t kill a fly but I will take it “I won’t, just be blind to it. I honestly like Robyn, nigga look how beautiful she is. That day I had so much on my mind that I couldn’t think, Shawn pushed me to do it and now look. Please let me be happy” I am begging to happy, how sickening is this “Kellen, we going now” Tiffany came from behind him, I don’t know. Something with Robyn that makes me want to smile, staring at her just staring at me “uh yeah, we finish now” I want to dick her so bad.
Robyn looked at my Porsche and then back at me “your car?” she asked, looking behind me “my dad’” I lied, Kellen glared at me “nice car” Kellen walked by me “let’s sit in the car Tiffany, but let me say something to my cousin” Kellen grabbed my arm and dragged me away from them “does she know who you are?” shaking my head “I said hotel manager” Kellen rolled his eyes “Tiffany fucking knows my uncle which is your dad owns these things, you want it to work you tell the truth on that part. She doesn’t know you’re married so that is fine, she won’t ever say anything like that but work wise, tell the truth” he is right, I wasn’t thinking “aight I will” turning around “Bonita!” I spat “Bonita? The fuck?” Kellen walked away in annoyance “come here please” I really need to finish my sandwich off “can we trust him?” Tiffany said before Kellen dragged her away “yeah?” I wish I knew she was here beforehand “we can meet tomorrow, are you staying? Or you leaving?” I should be going New Jersey but that is cancelled now “fine, text me your new number. Rude, didn’t even send me it either” looking down at my sandwiches “you want some?” I offered “no, keep that but text me. We can meet tomorrow and I am staying at a hotel” my eyes lit up “which hotel?” I hope it’s the ones we own “Davenport” I knew it, laughing a loud “what’s funny?” shaking my head “I got to tell you something before you go, I don’t want to seem like a bad guy because I am not. Just the situation I am in, you know when I said I am a hotel manager, that is somewhat true but my family own Davenport hotels, I run these hotels now” Robyn placed her hand over her face “I am sorry for making it out like it was just a hotel, I didn’t want to like scare you away” I probably have now, Robyn looked up at me “I feel a little stupid because, your cousin said about it. I should have put one and one together, I was thinking but then it is still kind of not wrong what you said, we can speak tomorrow if you want” she is so nice, god she is good “for sure, but this, the money. It doesn’t change anything, seriously” she smiled at me walking backwards.
Closing the car door as I got into the car, that was so random. Imagine seeing him here out of all the places in the world, kind of makes sense when he was not answering my texts “don’t be smiling in the back, since fucking when?” Tiffany turned in the front seat to look at me “I am not smiling” waving her off “yes the fuck you are, how? Please explain” rolling my eyes sighing out, looking out of the car window seeing Maurice’ car. I don’t know, he didn’t tell me the truth but I don’t blame him “well” looking back at Tiffany “he added me on Facebook and he was like we met at the wedding and I did remember him, it was really nothing. We just spoke on a level, like friends would. We ended up exchanging numbers, texting ended up being calls and then facetime. I find him funny, at the wedding we didn’t get to really see each other but we just grew close, that kind of person you grow used too” Tiffany gawked at me “but why did you not say anything? To me anyways” I shrugged “I said nothing to Leon either, I don’t know where it will take me. We been meaning to meet and now we have” this is why I didn’t say anything, she all pushy with me “so what do you think to my cousin? He’s got a good heart Robyn, he will do a lot for you” Kellen spoke, frowning at him “we not even together, calm down. I can tell what he is like, he is very kind hearted with me. He understands my line of work, he’s different from what I have dated” Tiffany kissed her teeth at me “you didn’t tell me, ain’t shit ass” Tiffany still hasn’t grown up, still has a tantrum.
“You know his ass is rich, he more rich than Kellen” I knew Tiffany wasn’t staying quiet “I know, I realised I am in the hotel they own. Kellen you ain’t say shit, and you made me pay!?” I just realised this “well I didn’t know, we told you to stay with me but I know now why, you wanted to get dicked down by my cousin, we know!!” I want to slap Kellen but I won’t “that is a lie, you think he likes me?” I can ask these things now “like you? He seems a little taken back by you, and it’s weird because his dad, well my uncle. He never gave him that, see how it goes. When you seeing each other again? He will probably find your hotel room number” I gasped “joking, I am playing. But you feeling my cousin? Didn’t seem it on the day” I shrugged laughing “because it was hectic, I wasn’t looking for a man. I was there for the wedding, he added me. I told you, we just text and it happens. You get used to that person, I just want to see how it goes. If he think he can give me shit I am not having it but he seems like a loving guy, I want that” Tiffany cooed out “daddys girl wants some loving, loving from the D, don’t give me that” it’s always about sex when it’s not, she is stupid.
Kellen’ and Tiffany’ apartment is so cute “so, while Kellen is gone, let’s talk” Tiffany just wants more gossip “we could be cousin in laws, I didn’t know about Maurice. Kellen mentioned it, the thing about this family they are so different. They keep themselves to themselves, you know like my mom goes to your house and we all just do things together. They don’t, it’s like you stay there and I stay here which is weird to me. Kellen said that his father owns all of the hotels, Maurice will get the hotels. It’s weird, you don’t get to know much about them at all. Oh god, you ever seen his sister? Maurice’ sister is a bitch, straight up. Girl, she saw me and Kellen and had the nerve to look away from me. Good luck with that” that is horrible and petty “god, how mean. So she just ignored you, I guess it’s the power of money. They should do better with the money they have, see how it goes. It’s early days, I am open to new beginnings and someone that is in need” Tiffany stared at me dumbfounded “I am into my feelings, you know this. I just feel like Maurice is missing something, he is a good guy so either way we will speak” Tiffany giggled “you so into your feelings I love it, when I told your ex that you are into your feelings and he said how, and then you blurted out because I ain’t even in love that’s why. And you don’t see or feel shit” laughing out loud “stop it, that was so rude. I couldn’t help it” that was so funny, no wonder he left my ass because I was rude.
Watching Kellen and Tiffany argue with each other over cooking, they so cute though. My phone pinged at the side of me, new number which can only mean one person.
From: Maurice
To: Robyn
It’s Maurice, took me time to text. Hope I ain’t like fucked it up. I was shocked to see you, I wish my phone didn’t mess up on me though x
Even a little kiss which is cute of him, I don’t know why he feels as if he messed up because he really hasn’t. It is really not a big lie, he probably felt like I would be with him well speak to him because of money which is not the case. I don’t care for money, money is in my bank so I don’t need that.
To: Maurice
From: Robyn
Don’t even think that, you know me. At your big age you shouldn’t care lol jk, it’s weird seeing you in person. We can meet tomorrow BUT you have to find my hotel room, I will be ready by 12:30pm and if you ain’t here by 1:00pm I am going out. Let’s see if you can impress ;)
I am playing with him which I shouldn’t but we shall see, biting my bottom lip not knowing if to send it or not but I am. This is me, I like to keep them on their toes. My mom is constantly like that with my dad, pressing send on the message giggling to myself “you sent a risky text? This is so weird to me” Kellen said from the kitchen “I will let you know if your cousin succeeds which I am ninety nine percent sure he will” I guess it will be a nice little first meet tomorrow for us.
Papa on Tickling
Papa. My grandfather. I've mentioned him here a couple times before. (Once funny, once sad.) He was full-on German. And by full-on, I mean full-fucking-ON. Born and bred Prussian aristocracy: a real Von from Berlin. I'm not bragging, it just is what it is, and very relevant to who he was. Unless you've been pinned under the gaze of a man who's had that kind of upbringing, you can't really understand what all comes with that. In his world there was a crushing system of cruelty and trauma, so-called discipline, applied to children. To create men, the psychotics of the ruling class, to wield privilege and power for the state. This is how the Europeans dominated, and the Prussian system was their template. At the age of sixteen, Papa had gone to war to fight for Germany in World War Two. Captured by Americans, he spent a few years in a POW camp in England. He said the camp wasn't as bad as I might have heard (the fake Nazis in today's lockups have nothing on the real ones that were in those camps); since he was Luftwaffe and a Von, the hero fighter-pilot aristocrats took him under their wing. When he was released, he returned to Germany to find his family dead and their properties clamped down behind what would later become the iron curtain. Nothing left. Riches to rags. A while later, he met and knocked up my grandmother, moved in with her family (also displaced persons, DPs, from what is now Poland), and sold radios he built from scratch and newspapers to get the money to move to Canada with his (then) three kids. Luckily for me, Canada and age had mellowed him by the time I came around, because I spent a lot of time with him when I was little. I really worshiped him. My parents were typical hippy types with very few consistent boundaries, and he quickly became the authoritarian in my life that I looked to for stability. Later, I would hear about how he used to be from my mother and aunts. About the terrible, regular beatings he would lay out as a matter of principle. But he was forbidden from laying a hand on my sister and me, upon my mother's threat of his being banished from our lives, and he never did. His voice, however, that vehicle of his displeasure, was all he ever needed to reign me in. There was no fucking around with this man. Even so, he loved us deeply and taught us what he could. He was a giant in my formative years. Now, as I just mentioned, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' “farm:” a small cattle ranch in northern Alberta. There were always a lot of relatives there too. My grandparents had five kids and both of my grandmother's surviving sisters followed her to Edmonton. I was the eldest grandkid, so as I aged there were always cousins underfoot, like noisy, mobile pylons. There were two uncles, Nick and Dave, both in the family by marriage (although at that time, I suppose, they were just boyfriends), who dominated my early life at the farm. One in a good sense, and another not so much. Both were macho, 70s, hairy, manly men, and very physical. Uncle Nick was, and is, one of my favorite uncles. He was around a lot, dating my youngest aunt who was probably about eighteen when all this happened. Some of my earliest memories are of great fun with Uncle Nick on the big sofa in my grandmother's living room. He'd read to me and also do that snuggle-wrestling that toddlers and young kids love so well. He was great at it too; a big bear of a man who was both strong and gentle. He did, however, discover that I am insanely ticklish. He never pushed it too far, but he did throw a good tickle into his repertoire. As I got older, there was less snuggling and cuddling, and more serious wrestling. That was a lot of fun, but he never failed to give me a good tickle as the finish to a pin. I didn't like that part of it, to be honest, but it also wasn't too bad. Definitely worth suffering through as a price for the wrestling. Then there was Uncle Dave. He was different. He started dating one of my mom's cousins, and was more of a toxic masculinity type. I was about four or five years old at this point, and I guess he observed how ticklish I was during one of my wrastles with Uncle Nick. This seems to have piqued a predatory impulse in Uncle Dave. Uncle Dave was never around so much, but when he was, he would track me down and forcibly tickle me to that point where I would want to die. For way too long. It was sadistic and horrible. There was never any pretense of fun as a lead in to it either. It was always just a straight up, dominating physical assault right from the second he got his hands on me. The big problem with Uncle Dave's tickling was that it ruined the fun time I would have with Uncle Nick. Now there was trauma connected to tickling. After Dave's treatment, when Nick tickled me, gentle as he was, I went straight back into the same place where I wanted to die. It was now intolerable. So I bit Uncle Nick. I remember pretty clearly that I felt safe with Nick, and made the conscious choice to practice biting as a defense I thought might work against Uncle Dave. I figured out pretty quick that there was no way to stop me curling up into a ball around some part of a leg to get my face into position to attack. I don't think I bit Nick hard, but he got the message. He looked a bit wounded, but he stopped tickling me after that and didn't hold it against me. He's a good man. The next time Uncle Dave came to the farm, I was ready. I didn't avoid him like I had been before (he always cornered me anyway): I sat down on the living room tickle sofa and waited for him. I don't remember exactly what I was thinking, but I was fiercely determined that this was going to be the last day he tickled me without paying a price for it. Sure enough, Dave zeroed right in on me and got to work. His big, strong hands pinned me down as his fingers drilled into my armpits and ribs. I didn't hesitate either. I turned into him and turtled; sliding my chest and head down his leg until I reached his calf. Then I got a good hold around his leg and bit his calf as hard as I could, for as long as I could. I don't think I actually bit him for long, since he yelled really loudly and wrenched his leg free of me. If I recall correctly, my teeth rather hurt from his flesh getting yanked out from between them. I don't know if he was bleeding, but he probably was. Reared on good, tough, German sourdough bread, I was. Strong jaw. I look up at Uncle Dave and he is white with rage, his fist clenched and raised up behind him. I don't think I even had time to get afraid before Papa, my grandfather, was in the room. He had been at the dining room table in the adjacent room, doing his paperwork. “Vas is zis?” he asked in his normal, quiet, terrifying way. “Your grandson bit me!” yelled uncle Dave. Papa gave this a measured think, with his usual inscrutable expression. “Did he?” Papa finally said, turning his gaze to me. I met his gaze, thinking the equivalent of, “well, fuck it, at least it was worth it.” But there was just the slightest twinkle in Papa's eye that let me know everything was going to be okay. And something new, that hadn't ever been there before. Respect. Papa turned his gaze back to “Uncle” Dave, and I'm sure there was no twinkle there for him. Probably something closer to what Bob Dylan referred to as, “steel-eyed death.” “And vat were you doing ven he bit you?” Papa asked. “Tickling him.” This earned another thoughtful, pregnant pause. This time with a slow nod of judgment at its finish. The Patriarch had reached his decision. “Vell, if he bites you ven you tickle him, maybe you shouldn't tickle him.” Dave didn't like that one bit, there was no doubting that. But he only met Papa's eye for a second before he deflated and got the fuck out of there (while he still had the legs to carry him). Papa just gave me another quiet look, this time with a friendly little nod, and went back to his seat at the head of the table to return to his paperwork. He had not said another word. Now that I think about it, I do believe that shortly after that he started teaching me the game of chess. In thinking about this whole exchange now, as a father myself, I wonder at my grandfather's approach. He was always right there. He saw everything. And he never stopped it. As a child in that position of being victimized, it never occurred to me that some adult might be looking out for me. That someone would come to my aid. I just assumed that to be victimized in that way was my role. Because, clearly, it was. That is, until I figured out a way to protect myself. Then, and only then, my grandfather extended his protection. I was never beneath his notice; he had simply made the decision not to intervene. So what was his lesson to me? You're on your own. When it comes right down to it, you can only rely on yourself. And if you're going to let someone treat you this way, then that is how you are going to be treated. But, when you figure out the right lever to protect yourself, when you've finally had enough and make that proverbial prison shank, at that point I'll have your back.
Maybe it wasn't a good lesson, in certain senses of the word. But it was definitely an important one. Oh, yeah, and Dave never tickled me again either.
@illusivexemissary brought this up in her vocaroo about Salome’s and Gabe’s relationship with each other. So, let’s talk about that really quick.
I lied, it’s going to be a multiple part escapade. So here, let’s get the first part done.
Salome’s History, Pt. I: Familial Relations
As I’ve talked about before, and what can be found in her biography, Salome was born as Shelomit Rut Bernadette Cohn on November 4th, 1985. Her parents are named Tzvi and Rachel.
Here’s the important stuff you need to know about her parents:
Tzvi: Her father was born in 1956, to two Holocaust survivors named Avraham (31) and Rut (29). He’s the youngest of three, with a brother a sister. He grew up, went to school, graduated, and otherwise lived in Syracuse his entire life. Was raised in a Conservative Jewish environment, but became BT” (baal teshuva) in his early college career, c. 1976-77, and went to rabbinical school. From there, he formed his own haredi congregation with himself as rabbi in Syracuse.
Her father was charismatic, but he also was incredibly mean-spirited, manipulative, and an otherwise questionable human being. I’ve said before that power went to his head. With luxury cars and amazing showmanship, Rebbe Cohn, like many in positions like him, pretty much ignored or buried any allegation of abuse in his community, including the ones that directly impacted his daughters. And it’s a precedence he teaches to his followers. Aloft and mysterious, even to family, it’s not a surprise that Salome finds herself unable to describe him to strangers, let alone under bad terms.
Because, to everyone under his influence, even his children, a rabbi can’t do any wrong. Even if all of his children are the victims of his wrongdoing and predilection for manipulation and intimidation. Salome, not around for the final years of his life, eventually concludes that karma catches up with him in the form liver cancer that kills him slowly, over the course of two years.
She doesn’t attend his funeral, nor does her brother. It’s an invitationafforded only to his eldest daughter.
Rachel: Younger than her husband, born in the spring of 1962 in a Moroccan hospital to now French expats, Rahelita has lived a much more colorful life than her husband. One half of identical twins, to which she’s a few minutes earlier than her sister Estimada, they both earn instant citizenship to the country of their parents’ origin before the family returns to Northern Paris after a few weeks time. There, she goes to secular day school and an Orthodox school in the afternoon.
Flash forward to her early adulthood, Rahelita adopts the more traditional name of Rachel and goes to America to study medicine on a scholarship. Here, looking to an Orthodox matchmaker, she meets Tzvi. They are married within four months, and soon after, she earns the title of Rebbetzin. And if being a rabbi went to Salome’s father’s head, being the wife of the rabbi certainly went to Rachel’s twofold. Nagging, overbearing, and almost every other stereotype of a Jewish mother wrapped into a 5′1″ package, Rachel is nearly unbearable to all of her children, and Salome rarely escapes from her gaze, even now.
That said, she struggled through motherhood physically and nearly died having Salome, so she had to give up on her big family of kids. It’s a grudge I don’t think she’s ever forgiven Salome for, even if it’s not the kid’s fault. And when Salome was four, Rachel also developed a very severe form of breast cancer that resulted in her having to undergo a double mastectomy and reconstruction.
This was when Rachel learned Salome had a talent for drawing, as her daughter brought her get well cards in the hospital with sprawling landscapes and other details that were impressive for a near toddler. Rachel took them, crumpled them after her daughter left, and would eventually tell her daughter that her hands were blessed only by the devil’s, and art was the work of idolatry. Starting what would become a cavernous pit of a relationship between the two by the time Salome reached adulthood.
When it comes to her siblings, Salome is the youngest -- and therefore the baby and black sheep -- of them. Preceding her are an elder sister, named Tova, who is five years her senior, and then a brother, this time three years greater, named Moses (but almost exclusively going by Moishe.)
Tova
Works as an emergency room nurse somewhere around Monsey, NY. Married at 17, Tova is now a divorced mother of three boys who is trying to date and work and balance single motherhood with both. Cute, kind and incredibly naive about the non-Orthodox world, Tova is everything Salome isn’t. She’s also consistently, and patently, adorable.
Salome and her sister are close, but somewhat also strained. Tova caves under the pressure of their mother easily and it oftentimes has the worse impact of the baby sister. Tova tries to protect her, but there’s only so much she can do.
Basically: Salome knows her sister is sensitive and under an incredible amount of stress, but sometimes it gets frustratingly old.
Other important details? Her husband was abusive as fuck, which is why she took her boys and left in the middle of the night, and never looked back. She also also worked progressively, since then, to try to make inroads on the Orthodox community when it comes to sweeping abuses under the rug.
Moishe
The middle sibling, Moses seemed to be like everything her parents ever wanted. Gifted, with the same talent for language as his baby sister, he excelled in his studies and their father wanted him to take over the family “business” at some point. Moishe, instead of seeking out rabbinical school, veers towards medical school after his four years as an undergrad. Oh, and then he blows, just like his baby sister did.
Now he lives in New Canaan, CT (which I laugh, because omg so close to the X Mansion oops), and is a cardiac surgeon. He specializes in transplants, but he generally also works the Emergency department, which means only the idiot baby sister escaped emergency medicine. He’s not Orthodox, nor does he even really practice, and is pretty much an atheist. If it’s not science or medicine, he doesn’t really have time for it.
Other things I know about Moishe: he has an autism spectrum disorder, along with a mild form of OCD. He likes dogs, and owns five. He’s more like Salome than Tova is, in actuality, and if they would bloody talk to each other, I think they’d actually get on. But Salome is bitter mcprissy pants because her brother got spoiled and treated better, so she doesn’t much talk to him unless she has to.
Salome doesn’t talk to her immediate family in adulthood, or at least not willingly. The only exception to this is Tova. There’s also a few cousins of hers, namely Miriam and Darcy ( @zzapzzaptasers ), but Miriam lives in France and Darcy is off on space adventures, usually.
Salome was also close to her paternal grandparents, perhaps even moreso than her parents. Which brings us to another cut off to talk about them.
Avraham
Born in Warsaw in 1925, Avraham was the oldest of two children by a year (the other is Basia, a sister), and grew up under tons of turmoil throughout his entire childhood. A year to the day of his birth saw the start of the May Coup and a more authoritative government, for example, but by the time he was fourteen, Warsaw was already under threat from the air by Nazi Germany. By the end of that year, 40,000 or more people had been injured or killed while the city was shut down, and the President deported to Dachau.
The prospects of going to college basically were destroyed soon after, though Avi, being the son of a Rabbi who was also a sofer, contributed to family means by also scribing for the Jewish community. Usually in the form of mezuzah parchments or marriage certificates, though this would become increasingly unstable once the Warsaw Ghetto was established. In the winter of 1941, Avi’s mother perishes from starvation, with the toll of a roughly <175 calorie intake a day finally taking its final toll on her already weakened body.
In late 1942, their father refuses to be deported to Treblinka, knowing it is a death sentence, and is subsequently shot. Basia, infuriated by this and long having been involved in the illegal ZOB, encourages her brother to become involved in the Resistance movement and they begin to smuggle weapons into the ghetto. This is, perhaps humorously, where Avi meets his later wife, Rut.
During the Uprising, two major points happen for Avraham:
His sister, Basia, working as a sniper in one of the ghetto’s buildings, is killed when the Nazi forces begin to torch buildings to destroy the opposition. She dies from a combination of smoke inhalation and burns at the age of 17.
Terrified by this, and now without any family, Avi convinces Rut to escape with him and they manage to get out but are captured. Avi is sent to Auschwitz, and Rut would eventually end up at Mauthausen.
Some of this is more relevant than others, as for example, in her canon with @metallsinne, Avraham meets Erik’s parents there eventually and tries to protect Edie from being gassed immediately upon arrival (though we all know how well that worked.) But after the war, he becomes what will eventually be known as a Sh'erit ha-Pletah and helps form a cohesive government before emigrating from Poland to the United States. Why?
He finds out Rut is alive and living in New York from one of his peers. And in one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever written, after he manages to get to New York, a bloody year later, he arrives on her doorstep with his mother’s wedding ring in a shitty cardboard box and a bouquet of flowers.
And she accepts. They lived, very happily married, for the rest of their lives. Avi eventually taking up work as a clockmaker and repairman. And they are become a beacon to the outside world to Salome and her siblings, to remind them that normal people exist. So close to her grandfather was Salome in particular, that when he dies in the year 1998, she is devastated.
Rut
Rut is also born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1926, but unlike her husband, she is the only daughter of a young couple just trying to find their way in [ the already explained shithole that was ] Poland before WWII. Rut grows up wanting to be a normal kid but generally gets involved in the ZOB pretty early into the Ghetto’s existence. Doing what, you may ask?
Generally helping to facilitate food being smuggled in, which she also helps deliver to those who are in most need along with her parents’ help. It’s at a meeting shortly before the uprising, in 1942, where she meets Avraham and quickly falls in love with him. Her parents bless this potential union, provided everyone survives the hell that is the Holocaust, and it is one of the last things they do. Like Avi’s parents, they too, succumb to a combination of forces like starvation and illness that end up taking thousands in the few years they are trapped there with so many others.
After trying to escape after Basia’s demise in the Uprising, both are deported to Auschwitz, though Rut is later moved to Mauthausen where she works as a “nurse” in the Krankenlager. Here, she sees many of her people breathing their last, though Rut can’t reconcile is this is for the better or not, considering the alternatives.
Once the camp is liberated, Rut manages to secure a place emigrating to America and settles in Syracuse in a tiny mother-in-law apartment at the home of relatives who already lived in the area. She makes money to pay for her expenses by tailoring clothing and sewing dresses for others, which is something she will continue until her death in 1994.
Before way then, however, Avi shows up on her doorstep, like I said. And they eventually get married a few months later, with very little to show for it. Rut sews her own dress, to save money, and it’s very simple. They don’t start a family for several years after that, out of this survival’s instinct that it’s not safe to, but eventually they have three kids they adore. Mostly adore. Tzvi’s always been kind of questionable.
They take their grandkids on alternating weekends, though Salome usually stays every weekend, unlike her siblings. Her parents find her attitude better, along with her mood, so they encourage it to help ease their own stresses. Salome’s name is also chosen by her grandmother in the end, because she hopes that she’ll grow exhibiting the traits of a warrior queen. Something she thought was fitting in the post-Holocaust state.
Oh, and she also worked at a drug store in her senior years. She enjoyed it, and collected a bunch of stupid stuff. Rut was kind of a giant nerd like that. Avi was just... pretty fucking lost without his wife, to be honest. I’m surprised he made it another four years without her, because they did everything together.
AND THERE’S THE FAMILY PORTION. YOU GET MORE SOON.
Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings. A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. Television shows can be viewed as they are broadcast in real time (live), be recorded on home video or a digital video recorder for later viewing, or be viewed on demand via a set-top box or streamed over the internet. The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 1930s. Televised events such as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 1937 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 1947 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1948, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 4, 1951 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 1954 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 1954. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 1965, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 1972, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season. FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 1980s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 1980s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure,while the later series Babylon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 2012, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 2012, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. United States When a person or company decides to create a new series, they develop the show’s elements, consisting of the concept, the characters, the crew, and cast. Then they often “pitch” it to the various networks in an attempt to find one interested enough to order a prototype first episode of the series, known as a pilot.[citation needed] Eric Coleman, an animation executive at Disney, told an interviewer, “One misconception is that it’s very difficult to get in and pitch your show, when the truth is that development executives at networks want very much to hear ideas. They want very much to get the word out on what types of shows they’re looking for.”[7] To create the pilot, the structure and team of the whole series must be put together. If audiences respond well to the pilot, the network will pick up the show to air it the next season (usually Fall).[citation needed] Sometimes they save it for mid-season, or request rewrites and additional review (known in the industry as development hell).[citation needed] Other times, they pass entirely, forcing the show’s creator to “shop it around” to other networks. Many shows never make it past the pilot stage.[citation needed] The show hires a stable of writers, who usually work in parallel: the first writer works on the first episode, the second on the second episode, etc.[citation needed] When all the writers have been used, episode assignment starts again with the first writer.[citation needed] On other shows, however, the writers work as a team. Sometimes they develop story ideas individually, and pitch them to the show’s creator, who folds them together into a script and rewrites them.[citation needed] If the show is picked up, the network orders a “run” of episodes — usually only six or 11 episodes at first, though a season typically consists of at least 22 episodes.[citation needed] The midseason seven and last nine episodes are sometimes called the “mid-seven” and “back nine” — borrowing the colloquial terms from bowling and golf.[citation needed] Thanks u for visiting, I hope u enjoy with this Movie Have a Nice Day and Happy Watching 🙂
The 1947 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1948, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 4, 1951 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 1954 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 1954. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 1965, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 1972, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season. FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 1980s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 1980s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure,while the later series Babylon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 2012, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 2012, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. United States When a person or company decides to create a new series, they develop the show’s elements, consisting of the concept, the characters, the crew, and cast. Then they often “pitch” it to the various networks in an attempt to find one interested enough to order a prototype first episode of the series, known as a pilot.[citation needed] Eric Coleman, an animation executive at Disney, told an interviewer, “One misconception is that it’s very difficult to get in and pitch your show, when the truth is that development executives at networks want very much to hear ideas. They want very much to get the word out on what types of shows they’re looking for.”[7] To create the pilot, the structure and team of the whole series must be put together. If audiences respond well to the pilot, the network will pick up the show to air it the next season (usually Fall).[citation needed] Sometimes they save it for mid-season, or request rewrites and additional review (known in the industry as development hell).[citation needed] Other times, they pass entirely, forcing the show’s creator to “shop it around” to other networks. Many shows never make it past the pilot stage.[citation needed] The show hires a stable of writers, who usually work in parallel: the first writer works on the first episode, the second on the second episode, etc.[citation needed] When all the writers have been used, episode assignment starts again with the first writer.[citation needed] On other shows, however, the writers work as a team. Sometimes they develop story ideas individually, and pitch them to the show’s creator, who folds them together into a script and rewrites them.[citation needed] If the show is picked up, the network orders a “run” of episodes — usually only six or 11 episodes at first, though a season typically consists of at least 22 episodes.[citation needed] The midseason seven and last nine episodes are sometimes called the “mid-seven” and “back nine” — borrowing the colloquial terms from bowling and golf.[citation needed] Thanks u for visiting, I hope u enjoy with this Movie Have a Nice Day and Happy Watching 🙂
