Having just finished the first chapter of oh god, you're gonna get it (you have not been given love) I am throwing a bouquet (and myself) at your feet.
🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Waaaaaaaaaah!!! Thank you so much! I'm so glad you got a chance to read it.
To reward your bouquet, here is a (rough) snippet from the next chapter:
Jamie jumped as his phone dinged, the device slipping out of his hand to land on the floorboards. Christ, he was jumpy. What the hell had the physios done to him in there anyways?
Gail would tell him--for the right price. Roy made a mental note to stop by the bakery the next chance he could; a fresh loaf of challah went a long way in the physio department.
By the time Jamie managed to fish his phone out of the well, his face had taken on a forcefully blank expression, betrayed only by the tightening around his eyes. The corner of his lip twitched down uncomfortably, like he was being pulled on a hook.
The light changed. Roy pulled forward. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Jamie take controlled, measured breaths and frowned. Perhaps he was in more pain than he was letting on.
With his poorly feigned stoicism pulled close like a jacket, Jamie casually flicked his phone back on. The rest of the pained tension bled right out of him as he huffed a sharp laugh.
"It's just Dani. They took the red-eye out of Heathrow last night, and they just landed in Guadala-jara," he explained, picking up the conversation like they'd been interrupted. The name of the city he pronounced carefully, effort and practice separating the word into manageable, if awkward, halves. He texted something back on his phone before continuing, "The Elenas have been sending me pictures all night. I'm pretty sure they're making a timelapse of how long it takes him to cheer up after leaving England. It's funny, innit? You'd think someone who loves going home so much wouldn't be so sad about it, but they've sent me about a dozen of him pouting in the airport lounge."
He held up his phone to show Roy said picture of sad-Dani, as if Roy were not actively driving them through traffic.

okay just imagine being friends with colin and jamie being like slightly jealous
okay so i’m thinking about doing like a psych major!reader who shadows Dr Sharon at the football club for experience and ends up having a thing with Jamie... like Jamie asks for her to tutor him on psych knowledge and being a better person and ofc they lowkey fall for each other but don’t know it...
ANYWAYS AROUND THAT PLOT LINE... the reader and Colin end up as bffs (lowkey spoilers for Colin’s info in s3?).. also my bestie is @sokkigarden and i love and appreciate her support
okay, so reader is shadowing Dr Sharon and Colin is so nice that he consents to her sitting in on the session since Dani was a bit too traumatised to have any silent observers
she doesn’t speak and tries not to make too much eye contact but when they do lock eyes, she gives him a soft smile, and he returns it
after the session, now only 3 people know Colin’s gay... him, her, and Dr Sharon. when she catches his eye at the end of the session, she does a little lock and key motion to her lips as if to say ‘my lips are sealed, promise’ with a soft smile, and he smiles and nods
the reader is usually extroverted and chatty but remains professional - not really interacting with the boys unless necessary (obvi Ted won’t have any of it, but that’s a diff point) so Colin isn’t too fussed about her...plus, she seems genuinely nice
in the next couple of weeks, the reader bumps into Colin in the hallway and goes, “oh!! Colin, I was out on the weekend and saw this and thought of you, so um, here :))” and nervously passes him a small pocketbook of affirmations since Dr Sharon instructed him to reaffirm “I am a strong and capable man”
he grins and thanks her, and then BOOM, they’re now good friends. he offers to drop her home when her Uber cancels, and they blast Taylor Swift and rap to Drake
now fast forward a while when Jamie asks the reader to tutor him in psych/therapy, and it is a funny exchange:
Jamie: you’re uh, good at this psych shit huh?
Reader: uhh, you mean the 4+ years I’ve dedicated to this degree? Yea, I kinda hope I’m good at this psych shit
Jamie: can you help me do better at therapy?
Reader: um,, therapy is more of a personal thing.. you kinda do better yourself
Jamie: oh, then what do you do :/
Reader: -_-
Jamie:  no no, I didn't mean it like that, fuck sorry
Reader: I can tell you about tools and theories that can HELP YOU help yourself
Jamie: yea yea.. that. let's do that, I want that
Reader: this isn't a drive thru, Tartt, you can't just ask like it's a dollar menu
anyways,, she agrees bc experience yea totally it’s the resume experience and not cause he has a cute thinking face and emotional intelligence is hot or anything like that
so they’re like a month in with this whole ‘tutoring’ thing and she’s at his place and he notices a childish bracelet on her wrist.. he seems to notice a lot about her but he tells himself it’s cause he’s getting more self-awareness (lmao dumbass, SELF-awareness has nothing to do with HER hair, eyes, and new accessories but sure)
okay the next day in the locker room, he sees Colin w the same bracelet??? so he asks and Colin’s all like, “it’s a friendship bracelet, boyo!” and Jamie just kinda nods not replying before they head out onto the pitch
next time he and the reader are tutoring he asks why she and Colin are wearing the same bracelet thingy...she tells him it’s a friendship thingy and she made it for the both of them.... Jamie just kinda stares and goes ‘where’s mine.’
she blinks at him and tilts her head, “are we friends?” and his mouth falls open “we’re fuckin not???” he questions, slightly offended. and she’s all like “no no, ofc we are... but maybe just not friendship bracelet level friends”
Jamie fights back a pout, but there’s a crease in the middle of his brows and she wants to lean forward to flatten it with her thumb but fights the urge
there’s silence for a moment...
“when you upgradin meh?”

I very rarely think about storylines for royjamie after richmond (because it breaks my heart a little to think of anyone of the team leaving) but like it's possible that jamie would choose to stay with richmond his whole career, it's also possible that the people at richmond itself would push for him to play for *insert the name of whatever other european football team is considered the best* and he becomes a proper super star, being invited for fancy events and shit.
(In a made up world where Ted stayed in London) Roy and Jamie got together while at richmond and now Roy travels with him everywhere as his own personal coach / PA / secret boyfriend / man behind the camera of every instagram post / personal grumpy cat / number one fan / emotional support teddy bear / personal chef etc He loves being with him 24/7 and finds it fulfilling to still be involved with football and helping someone be the best they can be but without the added pressure of having to constantly step outside his comfort zone that he'd have experienced being a manager to a whole team (he's doing good with being vulnerable with Jamie, he can do it with one person that he loves and he is still going to therapy for himself to work through his own trauma/CEN/grief and is focusing on learning to be in his skin as a human being and not this fucked up idea of masculinity he's got in his head) And Roy has a private instagram account under a random username where he follows and is followed only by the richmond team/coaches/Rebecca/Higgins + Keely + Georgie & Simon + his sister and he only uses it to post pictures of food, nature, weird shit he finds in the cities they visit, and his fit boyfriend. Since it's friends only he does use captions ("the muppet had a late night last night" with a picture of Jamie asleep on the floor) and all the himbos love to comment, especially Dani's "Sexy muchachos #JOY" under every single picture.

"night out post Milan fashion week with the muppet and some lovely faces i have missed"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"one handsome dressed-up muppet in Paris"

"Elopement fit check #MyMuppet" (which sends everyone in a melt down) Here's some pics of Roy that Jamie posts instead (in his photo dumps to be sneaky but there's really a lot of roy on his profile - also they 100% got a puppy!!). Also think the proper first post containing only Roy that Jamie would post would be after they elope and it would melt down the internet (the in-universe royjamie rpf-ers especially)

(the last one is such a slutty roy pic *cough cough*)

"Roy Kent always remains 💙🪢" (somebody feel free to make an actual ig posts edit of this with better pics/captions if you fancy I will do nothing but cry and thank you forever because I have no skills but I cannot stop thinking about these muppets getting married!!)

Long Time Coming I Chapter 13 I The Man
Summary: Being hired as the first female assistant coach in the league was a challenge of it itself. Being a football prodigy and University Football Legend was easy enough. Coaching Jamie Tartt was a challenge all on its own.
Chapter Summary: Reader is given an award. Jamie is supportive
Tumblr media
Word Count: 5.2K
Warning: Some sexism hehehe
A/N: Plot plot plot! But there's some of my favorite jamie x reader moments in this one. Next is Amsterdam!!!!
Prologue One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine Ten Eleven Twelve
I woke up alone. Now this was something I was used to at this point. Ever since Jamie had started doing his early morning runs with Roy, we hadn’t been spending as many nights together. Not that I liked it, but it was something I was getting used to.
My alarm went off at 6:00, as per usual. I did some yoga, showered, then was brushing my teeth when I got an unexpected text from Rebecca. It read:
Please come to my office when you get in today.
Hm. That was an unusual text to get from your boss at 7:30 in the morning. I racked my brain trying to think of something I’d done to get a talking to. Yeah, it hadn’t been a great month for us, but it wasn’t anything I’d particularly done.
I finished up with my skin care and decided to head into work early to get whatever this was over with. I arrived at the club not much later, waving at the caretaker as I walked in. The walk up the stairs to Rebecca’s office felt excruciating.
But when I arrived there, it wasn’t just her. I opened the door and there was Higgins, Keeley, and Ted sitting in front of her desk.
“Good morning, guys,” I entered approaching the group. “I didn’t know it was a party.”
“(Y/N)!” They all greeted in unison.
“Ah, that wasn’t creepy at all!” I laughed, trying not to show my nerves.
Rebecca motioned to a third seat. “Please, take a seat.”
I took off my backpack as I sat, holding it in front of me. “I’m not getting fired, am I? Oh my god, you’re firing me?”
“What? Oh heavens, no!” Rebecca dismissed, shaking her hands. “Why on earth would you think that.”
“Well, its all of you here, and I just walked in and thought it, I don’t know!” I shook my head. “If you’re not firing me, what are you doing?”
They all exchanged looks excitement filling their eyes.
“Oooo go on! Tell her!” Keeley insisted, clapping her hands.
            “Tell me what?”
“The anticipation is killing me!” Higgins chimed in.
            “What anticipation?”
“She doesn’t even know what’s about to hit her!” Ted added.
“Please just tell me what’s going on before I kill someone!” I was practically shaking at his point.
“Oh, alright,” Rebecca addressed me finally. “(Y/N), the league is honoring you with Coach of the Month!”
The group all cheered as I took in the information.
“We have a press conference this afternoon,” Keeley told me. “We’ll brief you on everything you’ll need to do but we are just so excited for you!”
“Couldn’t be happier for you,” Ted smiled. “You’re part of what makes this team great!”
“Of course, she is! I hired her!” Rebecca hummed proudly. “I always knew you’d be great.”
I frowned. This wasn’t right. None of this was right.  They kept talking at me about what was going to happen. An interview, a photoshoot, a magazine cover but all it sounded like I was underwater. I had to get out of this room.
I stood up, grabbing my bag and leaving without so much as a word. I hurried down the stairs and outside into the car park. Why was I so upset? Why couldn’t part of me just be happy about this? I heard the door open behind me and I knew one of them had followed me.
“Look, now I know emotions are a subjective thing, but I don’t know usually there’s at least a smile when you get a cool award.” Ah Ted. Just the person I didn’t want to see right now.
I shook my head. “Please, Ted. I don’t want to do this right now.”
“Now, I’m confused. What exactly aren’t we doing?” Ted asked, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“This!” I shouted, pointing between him and me. “You giving me some anecdote about how I’m good enough and how I earned this because you and I both know that isn’t true.”
Ted furrowed his eyebrows. “What are you talking about?”
“I know why Rebecca hired you.” The statement hung in the air. The truth behind the whole operation at Richmond. The secret I’d overheard in the coach’s office at the end of Ted’s first season with us. “And it’s the same reason she hired me.” Ted paused, nodding his head. I couldn’t help but let out an ironic laugh at the situation. “We both know that I was hired because she thought it would make us lose.”
Rebecca, so overcome with her hatred of Rupert, hired Ted and Beard and I because she thought it would make the worst coaching team. We would drive the team into the ground ruining Rupert’s favorite team. This was something I tried to ignore but since finding out it seem to legitimize some of people shouted at me on the internet and what Max had said to me before I left. I wasn’t meant to be here. I wasn’t saving the league. I was just a girl pretending to know what I was doing.
“Now, (Y/N), I don’t know what you think you heard but-“
“Please cut the bullshit, Ted,” I snapped, cutting him off. “I’ve worked really hard to get past it, but I don’t deserve an award when I’ve done nothing to earn it.”
Ted’s mustache twitched. “You’re right. Rebecca hired both of us to make some point to Rupert. That is true. But something else that’s true is that you’ve consistently proved her wrong at every turn.” I opened my mouth to say something, but Ted held up his hand. “Now, you might not see it, but Beard and I and even Roy, we all depend on you to keep this whole thing afloat.”
I let out a breath and wipe at my lips as I stare at him. I certainly hadn’t been feeling like that recently. Since the West Ham match, we’d been on a losing streak, and I’d been so in my head about all of it that I couldn’t do my job.
“I just…” I swallowed hard. “I don’t know what I’m doing here anymore Ted. And this Coach of the Month is just another bullshit excuse for me to know that I’m not meant to be here.”
All I could hear in my head was the sound of my failed dreams and Max’s taunts and the paper missing the bin over and over and over again.
“Hey (Y/N),” Ted’s voice appeared much closer than I thought he would be. “Do you remember that puzzle metaphor I told you about?” I scrunched my face up, nodding my head. “Well, that metaphor has a lot of different meanings. Maybe you should try to put it together again.”
I let out a frustrated sigh. “Can’t you just tell me what you mean for once, Ted?”
“I mean,” He chuckled at my frustration. “You’re stuck in a rut, yeah? So, instead of trying to put the puzzle back together the same way over and over again… maybe you were putting it together the wrong way. Maybe you need to… try something new. And maybe…” He nudged me, forcing me to look over at him. “Maybe you should let someone help you put that puzzle together.”
I still didn’t get it. Well not fully. But I think I understood the gist of it. The funny thing was as we were staring at each other, Roy and Jamie came running up. Jamie smiled at Ted and I coming to run in circles around us.
“Mornin’ Coaches,” He smiled, starting to run in place.
“Tartt! You’re not done yet! Get to the training room and start lifting.” Roy followed up; a bit slower.
Jamie groaned loudly. “I ain’t even stopped or nuthin’. I were just sayin’ hi.”
“Go!” Roy barked, pointing towards the door.
Jamie rolled his eyes dramatically before shooting Ted and I a wink. Roy shook his head as Jamie made his way inside, seemingly off to the training room.
“Mornin’ Roy, good training with Jamie?” Ted asked Roy.
“As good as it can be,” Roy grunted. “What are you two doin’ out here?”
Ted looked over at me, motioning for me to tell him. I shook my head at him, grunting that I wouldn’t. Ted hummed back that I absolutely would and that we wouldn’t leave until I said it. I let out a huff.
“The leagues giving me some bullshit title of Coach of the Month that doesn’t actually mean anything but they’re making a big deal out of it,” I informed Roy finally.
He grunted is a way that sounded vaguely positive. “Good for you.”
            “Fuck off.”
            “Alright.”
The day was filled with Keeley throwing me through the PR wringer. What to expect, what to say, what not to say. I wasn’t super excited about it, but Ted’s words were rolling around in my head. I hated puzzles. I’d never liked them. I thought I’d figured out Jamie’s puzzle but now there was another puzzle. When would it end.
“Okay, the most important bit is the press brief we have this afternoon. They’ll bring in you and some of the lads to talk about you as a coach,” Keeley told me, writing down some notes.
“What will they be asking?” I questioned, trying to look over her shoulder.
“Oi don’t be looking over my shoulder,” she reprimanded, shouldering me away. I pouted, crossing my arms over my chest. “They’ll ask you probably your normal annoying questions about being a woman, but also about the team and such.”
I grumbled. “I didn’t hear them asking Pep what it was like being bald why do I have to talk about being a woman.”
“That’s because no one cares what it’s like being bald,” Keeley pointed out, giggling. “Being a woman is actually interesting.”
“Is it really?” I rolled my eyes. “So, uh… what guys will be coming to talk about me?”
Keeley hummed as she flipped her notebook shut. “I dunno, I was gonna ask to see who wanted to later. Do you have anyone in mind?”
Yeah. Yeah, I did. “No, I don’t want to force anyone to do it.”
“Sure. And Ted is gonna introduce you, of course.”
“And this is all happening tomorrow?” I pushed out of my chair. I’d already waisted the whole day, I at least wanted to get to the end of training.
“Yup!” Keeley smiled at me. “Don’t stress, you’re gonna be great.”
I shot her a sarcastic smile. “Oh yeah, I’m gonna love it. It’s gonna be amazing.”
Later that night, I was resting in Jamie’s lap. I felt goosebumps spreading over my body as Jamie’s hand stroked my stomach lazily. On the TV, an episode of New Girl that I’d seen hundreds of times played but I wasn’t really paying attention.
“Jamie…” He hummed, letting me know he was listening. “Did they tell you about this… Coach of the Month thing?”
His face broke out into a smile as he looked down at me. “Yeah, it’s great, innit? So, fucking proud of you.” He tightened his grip around my waist, shaking me proudly.
I found myself blushing at his praise. Even though I thought it was kind of stupid, Jamie being proud of me was affecting my happiness a little too much.
“Yeah… I guess… I don’t know what I think about it,” I admitted, rolling so I was looking up at him. He cocked his head, motioning me to continue. “I guess, I just don’t know if it’s because I’m a good coach or if it’s because I’m a woman or whatever.”
Jamie scrunched up his face pursing his lips in confusion. “What… why would they do that?
“I don’t know to make themselves look better?” I sighed, lifting myself off his lap and leaning forward. I ran a hand through my hair. “I just… I’m not sure I’m ready to go out in front of all those people and talk about myself.”
Jamie leaned forward so his shoulder was touching mine, stretching his neck so he could try and rest it on my shoulder.
“What are you doing?” I asked, looking over at him.
“’m trying to comfort you, you daft idiot,” he explained, rubbing his cheek on your shoulder.
“You’re acting like a cat,” I crowed, trying to push him off of me. But he wrapped his arm around mine arm pulling me into him, rubbing his cheek all over my shoulder and neck. “Stop!”
He grabbed my legs and pulled them up into his lap, pulling me so I was sitting on him.
“Look, whatever happens tomorrow, just know that me,” he pressed his cheek into mine. “And the rest of the lads know how amazing you are. Not just as a coach but as a person. But especially as a coach.”
I giggled, pressing back into him. “What about you Jamie? How are you feeling about playing Man City this week?’
He shrugged. “My stats level up against Man City. They’ve played well this year but we’ve got the ability to win.”
“No, Jamie… I mean,” I turned around, so I was facing him, my legs now straddling his waist. “How do you feel, like you.”
He frowned, his nose scrunching up in a way that was far too cute for one man. “I feel… uh… I feel fine.”
I reached up and rubbed the space between his eyes. “I don’t think you do babes, you’re gonna give yourself wrinkles.”
He rolled his eyes, leaning his neck back. His neck was so exposed, it was so tempting to just… lean forward and kiss his Adam’s apple. I looked up and decided to play a little bit. I leaned forward and kissed him, right on the bottom of his neck where the skin sunk in a little bit. He hummed, the vibrations tickling my mouth.
“Jamie, baby,” I murmured, kissing up his neck, finally finding his Adam’s apple. He groaned in response. “C’mon, I want you to talk to me.”
“Can’t talk when you’re kissing me like that,” he croaked, his voice deep and gravely. So, I stopped, pulling away from him completely. “Hey! Wait!”
I started to slide off of him, but he wrapped his hands around my waist and yanked me closer to him. He buried his head in my neck kissing me furiously. I shrieked grabbing onto his hair to tug him back.
“Jamie, if you talk to me I’ll give you the best blow job of your life,” you waggled your eyebrows at him.
He whined, cracking his neck back and forth before slouching back. “I feel… fine. I guess. Haven’t heard from me dad in a while. It’s not like… I’m afraid he’s gonna be there but not knowing is worse.” I nodded at him, rubbing his collarbones. “But fuckin’ Zava’s probably gonna take the attention anyways.”
I gave him a sympathetic smile. “Well, it’s okay to be worried about your dad but… we’re at home. We’re on your turf. He doesn’t even need to be allowed in if you don’t want.”
“I’m not gonna ban me dad,” Jamie grumbled. “I just… want to know.”
I nodded again. I gave him a satisfied smile before pulling him down into me to make good on my promise.
He wanted to stay over that night, but I insisted that I wanted to maintain my regular routine for the next day. But laying in my bed that night, staring up at the fan, I wished he was there with me.
I arrived at the club early. Like 6:30am early. The groundskeeper had barely arrived by the time I got there. But I was nervous. I’d been able to avoid press conferences, manage photo events and stay in my lane for the most part but today it was all on me. And why was I wasting a day doing this when we had out Man City game this weekend, I’ll never know.
“Oh, my god, how long have you been here?” Keeley asked, handing me a coffee as she walked into the press room.
“Since 6:30, I couldn’t sleep,” I told her accepting the drink gratefully.
Keeley clicked her tongue at me soothingly. “It’s gonna be alright, you’ve got this. I just want you to be yourself up there, yeah? We’re starting with the photo shoot first today, the press conference will be this afternoon, when the boys are free.”
And that came faster than I expected. After a long day of cameras and poking and prodding I was left staring at the door of the press room. I could practically hear it, the flashing of the cameras, I could feel it, the stares of the journalists waiting for me to slip up, waiting for their next scoop. Ted was in there right now, talking me up. I picked at my thumbs, trying to steady my breath but I was struggling to find it. I felt like my head was buzzing, and that my heart was moving at a thousand beats per second. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to drown out the now blinding florescent lights.
Suddenly arms were wrapping around me, holding me so tight. “Hey, it’s okay, I got you.”
Jamie. I immediately latched onto him. I didn’t care if we were in public, I didn’t care if someone from the press room got a peak at this, all I cared about was Jamie’s steady heartbeat helping me regain my control.
“There you go,” He murmured, lips brushing against my temple. “Just breath, love.” I did as he instructed, finally finding the control of my breathing. I let myself blink my eyes open and look up at Jamie. He smiled at me, brushing some of the hair out of my face. “There she is.”
“Hi, Jamie,” I squeaked at him, resting my chin on his chest.
“You know it’s kinda nice seeing you be the needy one for once,” he said to you.
I gaped at him, scoffing. “Don’t say that, I’m having a panic attack and you’re gloating?”
“I gotta take it where I can find it,” He chuckled. Then he leaned down and kissed my temple, his lips lingering there. “You’re gonna be amazing in there.”
“What if I’m not… what they want?” I croaked. “What if I mess up or do something stupid.”
“It would be right funny if you did that!” You gasped and hit his chest. “Hey! That hurt. I’m just sayin that you could become a meme.”
            “Jamie!”
“Alright, alright, jus’ there’s no way they won’t want you cause… I mean you’re everything there is to want,” Jamie noted, as if it was easy, as if it was simple.
I felt that breathless feeling again but this time it wasn’t because of panic, it was because of Jamie. I smiled with my lips tucked, looking between his eyes before reaching up and kissing him. He kissed me tenderly, softly. In a way that made me hum in contentment. I probably would have stayed like that if it weren’t for the next intrusion.
“Oi!” Roy’s voice made us jump apart. “If the two of you want to keep this a secret, then you better stop kissing in the fucking hallway.” He growled as he marched towards us. “Tartt, go get changed you’re gotta be in there in 5 minutes.”
I looked over at Jamie surprised. “You’re coming to talk about me?”
“Obviously?” He stated, rolling his eyes. “Even if we weren’t dating, you’d still be my best friend.” I just about melted at that one.
“Uuuuuugggggghhhhhhhhh,” Roy groaned loudly, grabbing Jamie by the arm and starting to drag him down the hallway. “Good luck, (Y/N).”
I laughed, covering my face as I watched them go. Then the door to the press room opened and Keeley poke her head out.
            “You ready, babes?”
I watched Jamie disappear into the locker room and I felt that tell-tale flutter in my chest. I felt okay. I was going to be okay.
            “Yeah, let’s do it.”
She pulled me into the room as Ted was finishing up his speech.
“(Y/N) (L/N) has overcome incredible odds. And she has done it with a smile. So, without further ado, it is my honor to present you with (Y/N) (L/N)!”
I walked up on the stage to scattered applause. I waved hesitantly sitting down in front of the microphone. As I did, they all flooded the stage putting up their own recording devices. My eyes darted around the room at the different reporters until they landed on the back of the room where Rebecca, Higgins, Trent, and Keeley stood. I nodded at them, glad to have some friendly faces in the room.
“Uh… hi! I’m (Y/N) (L/N)…” I started, looking around to focus on someone. How did Ted do this? “I’m happy to be chosen as the Premier League’s Coach of the Month. Uh… does anyone have any questions?’ Immediately the room exploded as all their hands raised up. “Um okay you, in the front row.”
            “Hi Ms. (Y/N)-“
            “It’s Coach (L/N).”
“As a woman, what do you think the league can do to work on intersectionality across the teams?”
I furrowed my eyes brows. “That question doesn’t even make sense.”
Again, the hands raised, everyone calling out my name. I pointed to someone in the back.
“Coach, do you think being a woman has enhanced your ability to coach men or made it more difficult to understand the difficulties of being men in sports?”
“That’s like two questions shoved into one and the answer is no.”
“Coach (L/N), when you applied for the job here at Richmond did you do it to prove a point?”
            “What? That’s not-“
“Where do you think the feature of the league is in terms of gender equality?”
This was going about as well as I thought it was going to be. I let out a frustrated sigh as they continued to shout questions at me. In the back of the room a door opened and in walked Colin, Sam, and Jamie. Colin waved at me, crossing his arms at his space in the back. I looked across the back of the room, at Ted and Keeley, Colin and Sam, and Jamie. The people in my life that made this possible. That made me possible.
“Okay, okay, everyone listen up,” I announced, hitting my hand on the table. The room went quiet. I shot Keeley an apologetic glance before taking a deep breath. “Listen, I didn’t take this job because I wanted to make some big statement about feminism or gender inequality or intersectionality. I took the job because I wanted to play football for money, just like any of the lads on the team.”
“And if you really cared about gender equality, you’d be talking to the many female coaches that coach the women’s league. Or the many female players? Why don’t we talk about the wage inequality when the women win more games? That’s what you should be asking me about!”
I leaned back in my chair and looked around the room. The reporters were all silent until one, Marcus Adebayo, raised his hand.
“Yeah, Marcus,” I called on him.
“Coach (L/N), how do you feel about Richmond’s chances against Man City on this weekend?” He asked, pen at the ready.
I paused for a second, let out a huff. “Thank you, you know Man City has kept us down for a long time, but I think our chances look good.”
Our chances were not good. The game was bad play after bad play, the boys were just not at their best. You wanted to blame it on Zava, the bastard decided to retire without telling anyone and didn’t even show up to the game. It was depressing and everyone felt it.
“Yeah… it was tough out there today,” I said to the reporter after the game.
“You are Premiere League’s Coach of the Month; do you feel like there was something more you could have done to secure this win?” The reporter asked bluntly.
“That’s somewhat of a redundant question. I’m an assistant coach. I do the best I can, but the boys are the ones who need to win, and they just didn’t have it today.” I replied, shrugging. “That’s all I have time for, sorry.”
I left the reporters with a small smile and started towards the locker room running a hand through my hair. This had been tough, and Keeley hadn’t been able to show up. Something about Shandy and a baby lamb and a lot of poop. I’m sure I’d hear about it more later.  But for now, I walked into the depressing atmosphere that was the locker room.
I looked around the room, the boys sat silently in their despair. Jamie sat on the floor in front of his cubby like he did when he was upset. I glanced over at Bead and Roy who gave me a pair of sad smiles back. I looked over at Zava’s empty cubbies and frowned. I hated Zava. To come here and bring these boys hope then abandon them without a word I’d never be able to forgive him for that.
“Gentlemen, Hey,” Ted Emerged from the office. “That was a tought on tonight. Okay? Man City has still got our number. That… that’s all right.” The boys murmured a sad response. “We’re gonna get another crack at them later in the season. Uh-huh. Coach,” He addressed Beard. “No practice tomorrow yeah?”
            “That’s right”
“Okay, well, I’ll see y’all on Monday,” Ted finished starting to turn around.
“Hey, hey. Hey Coach!” Sam spoke up. “What about Zava? He quit the team.”
I looked back over at Ted, wondering the same question myself. Ted sputtered a moment before answering. “Technically he retired from the whole sport, which does make it feel a little less personal, yeah? You know, like if, uh, your girlfriend runs off with some dude and it turns out they were soul mates.”
Again the boys grumbled a response, something about Gina Gershon was in the mix but it was mostly positive. I thought Ted might end it there, but he didn’t.
“Look. I hear you, okay? Zava is gone. And You what? I think it’s a good thing.” I perked up, interested to see where he was going with this. “Well, I do! Okay, look. Do I wanna win? Heck yeah? But I also wanna do it with folks that wanna be here.” I nodded, agreeing with his sentiment. “It’s not like we could handcuff him to his locker and make him love us.”
“We could have tried,” Dani cried from his spot. I could help but let out a chuckle, knowing that he really meant it.
“Hey, guys, look,” Ted regained their attention. “We got a good thing going here. Alright? We didn’t need Zava. Yeah?” Ted looked over at Jamie who nodded. I felt my heart warm knowing Ted was using Jamie’s words to encourage the team. “All we need to win are the fellas in this room right now. And all you fellas need to do is believe it.”
Just as he spoke the believe sign behind him fell, the torn pieces revealing themselves. The boys all starting clamoring shouting in fear.
            “It’s a sign!” Bumbercatch shouted.
“That’s it. We’re doomed,” Colin agreed.
In the moment it was hard to disagree with them. Things hadn’t been great recently. And this just felt like the final nail in the coffin.
“Hey, knock it off, okay? We’re not doomed. No one is doomed,” Ted putting his hands up to calm everyone. “But, Bumbercatch, yes, you’re right. It is a sign. I agree.” He took down the two pieces and ripped them in half. I felt myself reaching out to stop him, not even knowing I was doing it, but surprisingly, Jamie’s hand on my leg stopped me. I looked down at him and he nodded towards Ted. “Belief doesn’t just happen cause you hang something up on a wall. Alright? It comes from in here.” He pointed at his chest. “And up here,” at his head, “ and down here.” At his stomach.
“Only problem is, we all got so much junk floating through us, a lot of time we end up getting in our own way. You crap like envy, or fear, or shame.” I swallowed hard, biting my lip. I knew he was right, I’d been letting my fear and shame of who I was get in the way of my happiness. Of my abilities as a coach. “I don’t wanna mess around with that shit anymore. Do you?”
We all shook our heads, some of the lads responding with a ‘no’, or a ‘no, coach’
“No, me neither. Hell no.  Well, you know what I wanna mess around with? The belief that I matter, you know? Regardless of what I do or don’t achieve. Or the belief that we all deserbe to be loved. Whether we’ve been hurt or maybe we’ve hurt somebody else.”
“Or what about the belief of hope? Yeah? That’s what I wanna mess with. Believing that things can get better. That I can get better. That we will get better. Oh, man. To believe in yourself. To believe in one another. Man, that’s… that’s fundamental to being alive. And look. If you can do that, if each of you can truly do that…” He ripped the sign in half again. “Can’t nobody rip that apart.”
With that he walked over to the middle divider and slapped the ripped-up sign down on top of it.
“See y’all, Monday?”
The whole team responded with a ‘Yes, Coach’ before turning back to their cubbies to get ready to leave. But I stayed there. Staring at the broken sign. I wanted to believe. I needed to believe. And this team, these people, they helped me believe. Come what may, this whole room had my back.
I was still thinking about it as I arrived home that night. I didn’t expect Jamie to come over, it’d been a long day and he was waking up early still to do extra training. So, when he knocked on my door, I was surprised.
“Jamie? What are you doing here.” I asked him, pulling him inside.
“I wanna tell people about us,” He answered quickly. My eyes widened. “I know why you’ve been wanting to keep it a secret and I get that; I do. But… what Ted said today I just… I believe in us. I believe in you making me a better person and I don’t… I don’t want to hide that anymore.”
I stared at him, unsure of how to respond. I didn’t know if I was ready yet for the whole world to know. For ours to become theirs. I loved Jamie, I really did but what if it changed too much. Or worse, what if people tore us apart. Luckily Jamie continued speaking before I could answer.
“You don’t have to decide right now. I just wanted to put it out there.” He nodded at me before leaning down and kissing my cheek. “Alright, I’m gonna go now.”
And he was out the door.
Fuck.

Roy/Keeley/Jamie Fic Snippet
This is an except from a longer fic I'm writing. The set up is that at this point Roy, Keeley, and Jamie are doing V-shaped polyamory because Roy refuses to date Jamie while he's his coach. They're all aware of their feelings for each other though. Takes places post S3.
October brought with it the Rainbow Laces Campaign. A decade in, it was fairly uncontroversial to wear rainbow laces for two weekends in October to show support for the LGBTQ+ community. Roy admired the goals of the campaign, and he thought it had made some progress. There was even a player out in the Championship League.
But Roy also knew that locker room culture was hard to change. The homophobic jokes at Richmond hadn’t stopped until Colin had come out and this was their first Rainbow Laces Campaign since.
The lads seemed extra determined to do it right this year, in a show of solidarity for Colin.
Every single player had committed to wearing the rainbow laces and Isaac’s captain armband was rainbow as well. Rebecca had set a policy that any homophobic slurs would get a fan immediately tossed out from the stands.
All the rainbow in his face everywhere he looked made Roy think about his own sexuality. It wasn’t something he’d given a lot of thought throughout his life. The people he’d found attractive had been mostly women and while he’d occasionally found men alluring as well, he simply hadn’t acted on it because of football. It hadn’t been particularly hard — not when there were so many beautiful women looking to date or shag a famous footballer. Then men he’d found attractive had been few and far between and he’d never had an emotional connection with any of them, so it had never been anything worse pursuing.
Until Jamie.
The week before Rainbow Laces kicked off, Roy cooked dinner for the three of them. They were in the kitchen, Roy at the stove, Keeley at her computer working on promo for the team, and Jamie sitting on the counter and looking pretty.
“I talked to Colin,” Keeley said. “He doesn’t want us to even hint at having a gay player on the team. So all of the Richmond Rainbow Laces promo has to talk about the queer community generally, so no one will point fingers.”
Roy hummed as he checked on the potatoes in the oven, extra cheesy the way Keeley liked.
“But he’s not the only gay player on the team,” Jamie said.
Roy turned around.
Jamie was frowning at Keeley, who closed her laptop to give him her full attention.
“But Colin doesn’t know that, does he, babe?”
“I suppose not,” Jamie said, looking torn. “I know Jake Daniels is out in the Championship League and everyone does all this rainbow shit every year. I just. I remember being a little lad and getting my first crush on a boy and thinking it was the worst thing in the world because if anyone found out, I would never get to play football. Not like this. Not at this level.”
Oh.
Roy hadn’t realized that sexuality was such a big deal for Jamie. He’d figured Jamie was like Roy, a bloke who’d gone through life mostly without caring about finding boys attractive or what that said about him.
But this was part of Jamie. This secrecy and shame and fear was part of what had shaped him into the man he was.
“What are you?” Roy asked gracelessly.
Jamie frowned. “What?”
“You said gay, to Keeley,” Roy said. “But I just realized I’ve never asked. What are you?”
“I’m bisexual,” Jamie said slowly, looking surprised. “Like Keeley. Aren’t you?”
Roy grunted and shrugged.
“But you like chicks?” Jamie asked.
Roy nodded.
“And you like blokes?”
“Some blokes,” Roy said.
Jamie planted his hands on the counter behind him, leaning back and spreading his legs invitingly. He tilted his chin up like a dick and smirked. “Oh, yeah? What kind of blokes get you going?”
“You’re a prick,” Roy said, turning back to the stove.
Keeley laughed, bright and loud, and Roy basked in the sound of her joy.
“So you don’t have a label?” Jamie asked.
Roy kept facing the stove. “No. It never really mattered to me.”
“What didn’t?” Keeley asked. “Labels? Or your sexuality?”
“My sexuality,” Roy said uncomfortably. “I never felt like it defined me.”
“But wasn’t it scary, like?” Jamie asked. “Being a gay footballer?”
“I never felt like a gay footballer,” Roy said honestly. “I just felt like… Roy Kent, who occasionally checks out bloke’s arses.”
“A very straight thing to do,” Keeley says imperiously. Then, “You don’t need to label yourself, babe.”
The oven timer beeped and Roy pulled the potatoes out and set them on the stovetop to cool while he finished with the chicken. It was almost done, golden brown on both sides.
“It matters to me,” Jamie said, voice small.
Roy heard movement behind him and when he peeked over his shoulder he saw that Keeley had moved to stand between Jamie’s legs.
“And that’s okay too,” she said.
Roy grunted in agreement.
He knew Keeley had realized her sexuality young and had dated women for a large portion of her twenties. He knew she was open about it, both at Richmond and to the few magazines that had asked. She’d always seemed so settled about being bisexual, like it wasn’t a big deal but also wasn’t a part of her worth hiding. When she’d started dating Jack, Roy had been hurt to see Keeley with someone else but he hadn’t been at all surprised to see her with a woman.
He couldn’t imagine Jamie’s experience growing up bisexual. His mum would probably have been fine with it, if he’d told her, but Jamie’s dad would have hurt him if he knew. Jamie had carried ideas about toughness and masculinity with him to his first year at Richmond and he’d been an absolute prick. But it must have hurt a lot before he learned to harden himself against the pain. It must have hurt to think that the thing you loved most in the world wouldn’t love you back if you showed who you truly were.
Roy imagined a young Jamie laying in his childhood bedroom wishing to be different and it made his heart hurt.
Then Jamie’s words came to him: I hung a picture of her on my wall, didn’t I?
He thought of the poster of Keeley holding two footballs in front of her chest, hung right next to a poster of a much younger, much hairier Roy.
He thought of Jamie’s reluctance to answer Keeley’s question about his first celebrity crush and the way he’d only answered once Keeley had stuck the word “woman” in the question.
“Holy fucking shit,” Roy said. He turned around and and pointed at Jamie. “Who was your first celebrity crush?”
Jamie gave him a crooked grin, while Keeley hid her laugh against the skin of Jamie’s forearm. “Finally figured that out, did you grandad?”
“Who was your first celebrity crush?” Roy asked, stalking closer. Roy’s kitchen was pretty big, but he still somehow found himself pressed against Keeley between Jamie’s legs, Jamie grinning cockily down at both of them.
“Well, I hung a picture of him on my wall, didn’t I?” Jamie asked, smirking.
“Fuck,” Roy said.
He’d been Jamie’s first celebrity crush.
It was slightly weird, being reminded how much older he was than Jamie. But it also made him immensely aware of the scant centimeters between his hips and the insides of Jamie’s thighs. Made him feel the electricity arcing between them.
“Oh, wow, you both have a praise kink,” Keeley said.
It broke the spell.
“What the fuck?” Roy demanded. “I don’t have a praise kink.”
“Your pupils got absolutely massive when Jamie said he masturbated to your poster on his wall,” Keeley said.
“Oi! I didn’t say that.” Jamie blushed a pretty shade of pink and Keeley gave Roy a conspiratorial wink.
“But it’s true,” she said, still instigating shit. She leaned in close enough that her lips brushed Roy’s ear then said, loud enough for Jamie to hear, “So’s the praise kink.”
Roy choked on his own saliva and almost missed the sound of Jamie’s whine.
Keeley grinned wickedly. “I think dinner’s ready, don’t you?”
She pushed Roy back and casually sauntered from between Jamie’s legs, heading to the table.
Roy looked at Jamie, whose eyes trailed after Keeley before meeting Roy’s.
“She’s trying to kill us,” Jamie said.
“Yeah,” Roy said.
Five minutes later they were seated at the table and Roy’s hard-on had mostly gone down. Jamie had also been squirming in his seat the first few minutes but Keeley ate like she was absolutely unaffected.
Roy knew she was having fun fucking with them, but he was impressed by her acting chops. He could never have acted that casual while this turned on. All he could see was Jamie’s red bitten lips and the hickey on Keeley’s breast just barely peeking out above her collar.
“You have to talk to Colin,” Keeley said, drawing Roy’s attention back to the conversation.
“What?” Jamie asked.
“If you want to say someone on the team is gay, you have to talk to Colin. Even if you’re only hinting at yourself, the media will speculate and every single player on the team will get scrutinized. Including Colin, who already said he doesn’t want the attention.”
Jamie nodded a few times. “What do I do if he says no?”
“I think you already know the answer to that, Jamie,” Keeley said.
“Yeah,” Jamie said, looking dejected.
***
The next day at training, Roy saw Jamie drag Colin into the boot room. They were in there a long time and Roy had to fight the urge to burst in and see what was going on. He knew Colin wasn’t going to react badly or hurt Jamie, but Roy couldn’t stand the idea of Jamie in there alone.
A long twenty minutes later, Colin came out of the boot room with a dazed smile on his face.
Roy pushed his way inside and found Jamie sitting on the bench, looking shell-shocked and disappointed.
Roy took a seat next to Jamie and pulled Jamie’s head into his shoulder. Jamie curled into him, wrapping an arm around Roy’s waist.
“He said no?”
“He said no.”
***
That weekend they played Newcastle and every player wore rainbow laces. At the post-game press conference, Roy said generic things about supporting the LGBTQ community.
They didn’t mention a gay player on the team.
***
The next weekend, they were playing Arsenal. Right before the match, Keeley came into the locker room, one hand half-heartedly over her eyes as she called out a warning that she was walking in.
Roy, standing at the whiteboard with Beard and Nate, watched as she beelined straight for Jamie and threw something in his lap. When Jamie held it up, Roy saw that it was shoelaces in pink, purple, and blue.
Jamie gave Keeley a look of wide-eyed panic and confusion.
The whole team looked on as Keeley smiled and said, “To support your bisexual girlfriend.”
Jamie’s grin was a slow thing, unfurling until it occupied his whole face. He tugged Keeley down, giving her a dirty kiss.
“You do not have to stick your tongue down her throat in front of everyone,” Jan Maas complained.
Keeley and Jamie flipped Jan Maas off in synchronicity.
“Oi, Tartt!” Roy yelled. “No being a prick without the signal.”
“Yes, Coach,” Jamie said, eyes shining. He immediately started unlacing his boots so he could switch to the bi laces.
Keeley came over to Roy, smiling. He couldn’t help but smile at the look of pride on her face and the smile on Jamie’s and he heard Colin mutter, “his face knows how to do that?”
“And for you,” Keeley said, pulling a plastic whistle on a pink, purple, and blue lanyard out of her pocket. “So they don’t say Jamie’s the only boyfriend who supports me.”
Roy took the whistle. “I hope you don’t expect me to blow this thing.”
“That’s what she said!” shouted one of the lads.
“I would never,” Keeley said, smiling. She pulled him into a kiss as well, before announcing to the room as a whole, “Good luck boys! I’ll be cheering you on from Rebecca’s box.”
As soon as she left, everyone started talking at once.
Roy made eye contact with Jamie and he could tell that they were both thinking the same thing. I love her so much.
Then Colin drew Jamie’s attention, gesturing at the shoelaces with a tentative smile, and the moment was gone.

I've seen some people say the scene with Jamie and his mom didn't sit right with them or the tone seemed off. While I largely enjoyed it, I understand where people are coming from - because a lot of it doesn't add up.
On the surface level, why is his mom still in a council estate if Jamie is wealthy? That momma's boy would have bought her a much nicer place a long time ago. But on a deeper level, they depict their relationship as much more straightforward and supportive than Ted and his mother's. Yet we know Jamie was abused by his dad since he "started getting good at football" up until now, so it begs the question why this lovely, supportive woman didn't protect Jamie from his dad (who she wasn't even married to at that point).
Whether it's something she was unable to do or turned a willful blind eye to, that type of thing would certainly complicate their relationship. Even if Jamie didn't blame her for that or there were extenuating circumstances we're not aware of, it would still likely lead to a different dynamic than what we were shown.
And the way he's talked about his mom before, it did seem like it had been a while since they last spoke (ie: "I don't think she would be very proud of me lately"). So we're also left to wonder why Jamie seems to talk about her that way when they're clearly still very close. And why has she never come to see him play if she's willing to watch him on TV and cheer for him no matter what team he's on?
I loved how supportive she was and how emotional and vulnerable Jamie was in his scenes with her. But it really does open the door to a lot of questions I don't think Ted Lasso is willing or fully equipped to address, which can definitely make the mom scenes land differently than they otherwise might..

So so so so intrigued by your Dad!Higgins fic. I hadn't really thought about Higgins in that way but despite bad advice to Jamie about his dad, Higgins is one of the best examples of dad figure that we see on the show
If you want to share any more then please do!
Ahhh thank you! So I am on a mission to just give Jamie all the dad figures and the same thing hit me. Like he does give bad advice but we see so much more of Higgins being a supportive figure to the lads and even in S1 genuinely caring about them!
Despite you asking for Dad!Higgins, I've just finished a scene that's been haunting me this morning with something from that fic that might be even more important ... Mum!Julie 😂 Julie who's husband announces he is bring home an injured and troubled 23 year old who is known for chatting shit and trying to antagonise people. Julie who looks at this boy and sees a lost teenager under all the posturing and immediately goes into "I'm going to parent this boy so hard he won't know what's hit him" mode. Julie Higgins has raised 5 boys and has a football team invade her house every Christmas Day, what's one more son?
“Oh fucking hell,” Jamie groaned and Higgins watched him slowly straighten and fumble for the remote as soon as his own face appeared next to the Sky Sports pundit.
“Language Jamie,” Julie softedly scolded. Jamie turned the TV off and froze in place. He turned to look at the table and frowned.
“Um, what?” he replied, straightening up and throwing the remote onto the cushions next to him.
“Don’t swear in front of the children,” Julie prompted, returning her focus to her laptop. Stevie and Dana both looked at Higgins in shock and then at each other with slightly fearful glee. It had been a long time in this house since someone had talked back to Julie. If Jamie had an ounce of sense in his body he would apologise and never say another swear word in Julie’s presence. Instead, he scoffed and leant back on the settee.
“Ain’t nothing they haven’t heard before I can assure you and I’m an adult, in case hadn’t noticed, I can say what I want,” he smirked, waving it off dismissively.
“Not in my house you can’t. For as long as you are staying here you need to follow my rules. Therefore no swearing when the children are in the house,” Julie closed her laptop, turning in her chair to hit Jamie with the patented mum glare. Jamie’s smirk shifted through a fair few different emotions before his mouth pressed into a thin line.
“That’s bullshit. Free speech and all that,” he huffed.
“Last warning Jamie. You don’t have to stay here if you are not willing to make some concessions to sharing your space,” Julie glared back.
“Fuck it, then I won’t!” he levered himself up from the settee with his good arm and stormed past the table to the door. “Didn’t even want to be here anyway. Might as well be at home,” he grumbled, kicking on his shoes. “Fuck all of this,” he exclaimed and then the door swung in his wake. Higgins jumped as it slammed shut. The house was left in silence.
“I’ll go after him,” Higgins sighed, placing his hands down on his knees and sighing as he prepared to get up. Julie pressed her hand down on top of his.
“Give him time to calm down,” she sighed, smiling sadly. “Boys you mind going to your rooms to play for a bit,” she suggested but all three of the present Higgins men knew it wasn’t a selection. They left their homework scattered around the table and sprinted off up the stairs pushing each other.
“I’m sorry. We can tell him to go,” Higgins muttered. He had hoped more than anything that being in a positive atmosphere might somehow fix Jamie like Ted always thought it might but it seemed not. He was still the smug and sarky fool that Richmond knew.
“I don’t want him to go. I don’t even particularly care about the swearing love,” Julie chuckled. Higgin’s head shot round to frown at her. “Oh Leslie he’s a hundred percent right. The boys have definitely heard worse language than that and Jamie is an adult and adults swear sometimes,” she added with a shrug.
“So why did you make a scene about it?”
“From what you’ve told me and from what I’ve seen, Jamie’s probably never been parented. It’s one of those stupid things about the football system. You control these kids then move them from their parents often as teenagers and give them so much money, so so much money, and fame and then expect them to make good choices. Mentally Jamie is around 15 but with the resources and freedom of a 23 year old celebrity. Someone needs to set him boundaries and show him that no matter what he can do with his right foot, he needs to show respect if he wants to be treated with respect. And that is something that a parent should teach their child,” Julie finished her monologue and thesis on childhood development. Higgins just stared at her. How on earth had he got so lucky? “Now I am going to open that bottle of incredibly expensive wine that Jamie got us. We are both going to drink a glass and pretend that this is a blissfully child free day and then you are going to go find Jamie,” she kissed him on the cheek.
“Will he be fine out there? He doesn’t know the neighbourhood that well,” Higgins frowned but Julie’s kiss moved to his lips.
“Well as he explicitly told us, he is an adult. I’m sure he’ll be fine,” she smiled.

Ted Lasso
Keeley x Jamie x Roy
Breaking Conditioning
To almost all of the people who knew (or at least knew of) Roy Kent, he had two emotions: angry and not angry. That was actually not the case.
Sensory Senses Part 1
What happens when each member of the triad has sensory issues?
Our Colourful Days Senses Part 2
It had been three days since the meltdown over his laundry detergent being different and Roy knows he needs to talk to Dr Sharon. This fic shows Roy going to therapy and processing stuff afterwards. Keeley and Jamie are there to help/be supportive.
What Was I Made For
Roy thought he was over having to retire but there are days where he doesn't know who he is and what he was made for if not for football
Roy x Jamie
From The Edge Of Nothing
Jamie is going through it and Roy is there to take care of him
Sweet Like Molasses
Jamie has been so good even if Roy doesn’t know it and Jamie’s (now) old boyfriend/dom just dropped him in the middle of a scene and he is having a very bad time until he Roy helps him out.

Ted Lasso 3x11 reaction
Things I LOVED in 3x11:
Pretty much everything about the way Roy, Keeley and Jamie interacted; the way they worried about him and tried to be there for him and it just felt so solid and real, and like I could see how they would all function in a relationship together. Truly a gift
Roy in general was delightful. This has saved his arc for me. Still a bit tell not show, but he’s clearly now at a place where he has accepted he deserves good things and those good things are Keeley and Jamie (in whatever way you would like to read that)
The comedy between these three was fantastic as well
GEORGIE TARTT! I love her, I love her and Jamie’s relationship. I will not have any criticisms and will defend her and Jamie’s right to cuddle each other to the death.
Pep!! He was there! He hugged Jamie! This is all I care about! (They also had him say that he doesn’t care about the wins and losses! That’s ridiculous! I don’t even follow football and I know that it is ridiculous to have PEP GUARDIOLA say this!)
Things I am neutral/unsure about
I am sorry. I am a bit bored of Ted this season. I think he was one of the characters I was most invested in following season 2, but now… IDK. I thought the confrontation with his mother was well done, and I liked the ending but… I don’t know whether it felt as impactful as it could have
Nate coming back to Richmond, especially how it came about, was weird. No, it doesn’t make sense that the players are asking for him back, no, it doesn’t make sense that they would have any say in it. Also, I think I support Nate maybe figuring out what he wants to do without being pushed once again into football coaching. Maybe he would have been able to do that if people had let him keep being a waiter
Beard’s forgiveness of Nate – I LOVED the Les Mis story, don’t get me wrong and Brendan Hunt can really bring it on his delivery of these longer emotional speeches. But I don’t actually think it felt… right. Like, we know that Nate feels sorry for the press leak. WE know that Nate has written a 60 page apology, but Beard doesn’t, really. It’s never been properly addressed. And I kind of think that the writers want us to focus on Nate ripping the sign and shouting at Ted rather than the actual awful thing that he did. I just can’t quite see why Beard would forgive Nate (outside of radical forgiveness, which is… yeah, I don’t like it) without at least an acknowledgement of that. I also… don’t think he should have to. Or, he should let go of his anger, but that doesn’t have to lead to Nate working with him again.
Things I HATED:
Number one is obviously the radical forgiveness of James Tartt (I have already posted at length about this here and it makes me very angry so let’s leave it there)
Yeah. Boot room scene. Sorry. Bits were great. The implied intimacy. Roy. But the extent to which it was played to the audience for laughs was… awful and really uncomfortable. They do not do this with any other character’s trauma/emotional responses. It’s not OK.
The whole Man City game sequence didn’t quite work me. So: Jamie’s being booed by the Man City fans, which is… OK – but they have played them twice since he’s left and we have not seen this level of personal vitriol towards him. When I saw the trailer for this moment, I definitely thought he was getting some kind of negative press attention. So I don’t quite get this. Like, I know they’re at home and there would be more of them but…
The Man City players repeatedly fouling Jamie – putting aside the fact that none of these were caught by referees, in the game at Wembley there is a shot of one of the City players hugging Jamie and a general sense that, actually, he was quite well-liked. Now, this is football. Maybe they’re all different players now. But surely they’re not trying to say that Pep would create this kind of environment where the players would target a former player who was getting targeted by fans? I thought it would have been really nice to see support from the City players but not necessarily from the fans. Because I do think that City was a positive environment for Jamie, which they kind of try to imply with the scene with Pep, but have dramatically undercut it here
Did Ted Lasso emotionally manipulate a player into playing through an injury? Yes. Yes he did. It’s shit like this that makes me hate sports culture. When it happened, I briefly thought they were maybe going to address the fact that Jamie is used to hiding pain, stemming back to trauma and have him insist on playing through, but. No. I don’t think they realise the fucking irony here of insisting that Ted doesn’t care about the wins and losses, and yet putting the safety of a player below that. Arguably, it's not about the win, it's about… something else. But it is not prioritising helping Jamie so why should I give a shit?
Also, it’s only after that that the City fans turn around. Which. Is so fucking. So. Yes. There are obviously lots of different city fans there, but we focus in on a group who are being truly fucking horrible and then… Jamie… wins their approval by playing injured? Seriously, what the actual fuck? I didn’t buy this, but even if I did, this isn’t something we should be aiming for! Why should Jamie win these people’s approval through endangering himself? I hate it so much! And then they dare to show his dad’s friends saying his dad would have been proud to which my audible reaction was: I don’t care (briefly followed by: is he dead? But those hopes were dashed). That’s the whole point! Jamie doesn’t care. He shouldn’t care! Caring about his dad’s opinions was deeply damaging for him!
In conclusion, I will be focusing on the bits I loved and rewriting/fixing the others through fanfic. Just needed to get this out here because it has been driving me insane.

My Ted Lasso Re-watch: S2E2
Lavender
Oh Jamie, going from reality TV, to talk show and looking like a muppet. Also, the bit with Phil and Holly has not aged well with ermmm... Recent discoveries behind the scenes. Not of Ted Lasso, of the talk show This Morning.
Man City doesn't want Jamie. But he still has support of fans, that's good. We do eventually find out why he left Man City.
Beard and Jane are not a good or healthy couple. They should not be together. Beard deserves better but the thinks that's what he deserves.
Nate micromanaging Will. He's just doing his job, and doing it well. Leave the poor guy alone.
Aww, Will has a girlfriend. Good for him.
Roy cares about his new team. Especially Kokoruda and Phoebe. Too bad he wants nothing to do with Richmond.
Keeley knows what she likes in a man and isn't afraid to express it. Go Keeley.
Ted riding the lawn mower, what a dork.
Ted is hurt about Dr Sharon staying for the season because he still doesn't trust her. Even though it's good for the team and later him. She does have a cool bike though.
Ted is confusing. He wants to be included about decisions for the team but wants Higgins to make his own mind up about things. It was Higgins's idea to bring Dr Sharon in and since he is director of football operations (what does that even mean)? He should get a say in what is best for the team. And Dr Sharon is what is best for them.
Nate is still too quick to complain about Will. I will say, personally I find lavender to be kind of horrible to smell.
No one wants Jamie. Because he shows no loyalty to anyone. And clubs and the public have seen that. They don't wasn't to sign him for something if he's just going to jump ship when he gets bored.
Ted bursting though doors is everything to me. I love that manic pixie dream boy. But yeah, don't barge into a therapist's office.
Sudeikis does actually play video games in real life, because they are fun. If something is taking over your life you should change your habits to prevent it from taking up most of your waking hours. This only applies to non-addictive things. You don't want to deprive yourself of enjoyment because that will make you miserable, but just adjust how you view that relationship you have with it. It's why some people struggle with dieting. Because they try to eliminate the things that are 'bad' for them, instead of accepting that they can be part of their diet but not a major part of it.
Ted is very disarming. He wants to know everything he can about a person straight away. But Dr Sharon sees through it.
Keeley mentioning Dubai Air, for the campaign that Sam will be a part of next episode.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. I have watched too much Supernatural to have gotten that joke before Ted did. Plant and Page were Sam and Dean's most used aliases. You are off your game here Ted, Dr Sharon really must have you rattled.
'What a fucking arsehole' is back again, because Dr Sharon doesn't eat sugar. I'm going to have to keep track of how many times it's said in the show.
As much as Rebecca might know what her problems are, she still show see a therapist because they would have knowledge and the capabilities to help her move on from her relationship with Rupert. She manages on her own well enough, but there are still things that might need addressing. And Ted, he works out that he needs help eventually. Friends aren't your therapists, they can only do so much to help. If you need help, see a professional, your friends are your support network to help keep you in the right path to getting to a healthier emotional state. You're not burdening people by sharing your problems, but they might not always be able to help you in the way you need, that's where professionals come in. Spoken as someone trying to get that help now.

He's tried to get better at this communication thing these past couple of years – he really has! But this conversation is not one he planned on having alone, not without Roy there to help him through it. Even if Roy being here might fuck things worse, it's good to have emotional support in times like these. But no, he's about to start a conversation that they were meant to have together, and he's going to sound stupid doing it. Fuck. Okay, he'll do his best.
"Yeah? When'd you figure that one out?" he asks with a little smile, trying to allow her to take the piss out of him a bit. He's been obsessed with Roy since long before he and Keeley started dating. He's just good at hiding it around most people. Or, well... not hiding it, per se, people just assume he's straight. Because he's a footballer. "Anyways, erm... I've... kissed 'im. I mean, he kissed me, but I kissed him back, and we've... kind of... I mean, not kind of, we have fucked, and we were totally safe about it, and I think we are... maybe... sort of... still fucking? Don't know, I don't know - anyways. I probably shouldn't've kissed you without tellin'im, but I do think we both still love you, me and him, and... and maybe, if - I mean, I know this's stupid, and a big thing t'ask, but maybe y'could try both of us. Like. Together. As a pair. Not just me, and not just Roy, but... y'know. Jamie and Roy." He pauses, looking towards her to see her reaction. "Or that's fucking stupid, and I shouldn't've kissed you, and I'm sorry, and I do love you, but I shouldn't've done it."
Tumblr media
keeley withdraws her own hands further, throwing a guilty look at her phone - she'd told roy she'd call him before she went to bed, time was getting on. maybe she ought to just turf jamie out, get into bed and call roy up, put this behind her. though it would be easier for her not to pick, that might not be a possibility roy would want. her brow does furrow a little when jamie says he should call him, but she does well to keep the frown off of her face, " obviously, yeah. i know. " she shuffles back on the sofa as he shakes his wrists, not because of the movement, but because she was confused and wanted to grab hold of the pillow behind her to soothe her nerves - her fingers cascade through its softness, chewing at the inside of her lip.
" yeah, i.. well, i could've figured that one. " she smiles slightly, gently, drawing her arms tighter around the cushion.

bitches say they’re gonna write up a list of things that would be cool to see in s6 of jamie johnson and then don’t follow up with that for like 2 years
it’s me. i’m bitches
as a preface this is just kind of a shitpost from start to end and they’re not really fully developed ideas but yeah, it’s something at least
jamie and dillon at northport
- see friendship strengthen, still with same dynamic that they’ve always had, very playful and with a lot of sarcasm
- jamie struggling with taking risks after injury - since you start learning to drive during these years in the uk, maybe fear of driving now?
- jamie defends dillon with homophobia that may arise, no wavering from that
- elliot has to fucking come back, dealing with a romance there, where dillon is really shy at first, doesn’t reveal his feelings for a little bit
- maybe foxborough make a comeback, tension with homophobia there? i don’t know if they seem like the homophobic type
- both finding their way as the youngest on the team - how do the older players handle it? are they pretty vengeful and jealous or are they impressed? maybe one of them has some kind of backstory that will intertwine with jamie or dillon’s, like a real-life mentor
- will we get a comeback of the guy who wanted to steal jamie for some team in china, i believe it was?
- maybe seeing some stuff from hawkstone with their new prodigy, highlighting that they never really cared, they only were worried about the money, which in turn makes jamie feel bad
- SIENNA MAKE A COMEBACK WITH A GIRLFRIENDDDDDDDDDD AND SEE ELLIOT AND DILLON TOGETHER
- okay, not likely, but like lowkey it makes sense to bring her back because duncan is going to be a more significant figure in this season, it would be nice to see him improve as a father and strike the balance between handling the club but also taking care of his daughter, who is going through a lot in her teen years, it would be nice to see them have nice moments at home together
- but like actually give her a valid storyline besides social media, what does she want to do when she gets older? i can see her almost doing something artistic, like designing outfits or something, but whatever we does, it would be nice to see her not feel so restricted by her father’s work and go along her own path outside the club
- sienna and dillon become friends again and people are like, “oh my god you have a gay best friend” and she becomes really vocal about that being literally the dumbest thing ever, the show can demonstrate this type of homophobia that’s kind of “in disguise,” not as in your face as dillon’s dad
- progressive queen and then realizes she can use her platform on social media to spread awareness, since that is what she enjoys doing
- but at the start of the season wanted to step away from it, reminded her too much of everything with her dad and wanted a break, she thought it was toxic but realizes she could do good with her voice
- jamie and jack reunite, even if it’s not playing against each other (i don’t think that would work), but meeting each other now when they’re both where they wanted to get to
- can we finally get that romance between them
zoe and kat at hawkstone
- talking about body image for women in sports
- it would be really cool to have transgender girl on the team, and some of the struggles she faces being an athlete while also being trans
- or talking about disabilities in sports, that would be really nice to see
- zoe falling in love with kat, but like no comment on sexuality, it just is what it is
- IF SHE BROUGHT KAT HOME AT THE END OF THE SEASON AFTER BEING SO HIDDEN ABOUT IT OH MY GOD AND SHE MET HER MOM
- like zoe’s very private because she’s worried that kat won’t like her if she talks about her mom, which is silly, but then seeing kat support her and learning how to be in a relationship with someone with a lot of responsibilities at home
- maybe her mom’s situation interferes with her place at hawkstone
- do they meet up with jack’s team again? would they even play against her (like are hawkstone and st. george’s even compatible?)
- exploring more of kat’s backstory, maybe why she’s so superstitious and what kind of an impact her grandmother had on her
- i believe she mentioned having a brother who plays (gave zoe his old boots) so it would be interesting to hear how having a sibling doing the same thing has affected kat, in a different way to the whole competition between dillon and liam
- watching kat lose some of her superstition in that she’s able to believe more in herself and her abilities and allow herself to make mistakes
- they’ll probably have a lot of pressure on them since hawkstone just started this new women’s team, maybe there could be a lot of competition with the boys’ team
- zoe is not going to do the whole, “being jealous of other girls” thing anymore, okay? she’s grown out of it
- honestly would like to see some dillon and zoe moments, wlw mlm solidarity
boggy our absolute hero
- boggy finding his passion outside of helping sports, unless that is his passion
- friendship between him and jamie struggling at first when he finds what he wants to do, but proving that you can stick together even with not exactly aligned interests
- schoolwork getting more intense with whatever tests they have to do at his age (i have no idea how the british education system works haha)
- check in with his therapy, see how that’s going, we actually see him get to go to one appointment, maybe, hopefully he’s built a good relationship with his therapist and we see the show promoting finding professional help if you need it
- maybe tries to get through a panic attack himself, with coping mechanisms he’s learned in therapy, i don’t know if the building pressure of school would be what induces it or not, but if his storyline is more about getting to see him outside of football, i doubt it would be because of anything related to the sport or stats or whatever
- anything about his family? like how they react to his diagnosis (unless he’s already told them what’s been happening), how close he is with them, if some of the pressure in school comes from at home, whether he has any siblings - we want to know more!!
- would he and nancy cross paths after he finds the thing he’s interested in, since it might be the same thing, or at least something similar, they realize they’re really good together and supportive of each other
- i can see them really pulling through, and it would be nice to see nancy being there for him with his panic attacks and learning how to be a supportive girlfriend to someone who does have problems with anxiety, panic attacks, etc
u14s at phoenix
- i want them to get a comparable opportunity as the gothia cup, something else though, so that they get the experience they missed out on with the whole duncan situation, the season will center around them working towards that thing, i don’t really have any suggestions since i don’t know football but i’m sure there’s something else for them out there
alba and ruby
- her and ruby get further apart, doing their own respective things, now that ruby isn’t playing football anymore, for some reason i feel like she’ll be into either art or psychology, but i can also see her trying to do some activism-esque stuff after her experience growing up in foster homes and now finally being adopted (!! i’m still so happy for them)
- now that she’s not playing at phoenix, we have no idea who ruby’s friends with, maybe she has some at school? i would like elliot to come back and the two of them to bond
- i can see ruby wanting to know more about her background but alba not being so much into that, which causes tension between the pair, ruby just feels like she doesn’t have a solid idea of who she is and wants to know where her roots are, whereas alba is in a good place at phoenix with a sense of being in a family there and doing what she loves
- alba’s anger management is poor, her and ruby bond over futsal or whatever after a period of time not talking after whatever issues come up between them
- the trio made up so it doesn’t seem like she has any issues with freddie or eric, but i want to see her grow more into the captain’s role and take on the responsibilities and stresses of getting the team to whatever opportunity they’re doing, maybe working more with duncan and him being more willing to help the team
eric
- i want to get a look into his home life, maybe how that affects him at school and just in general the emotional impact it has on him
- what happens to his family after the team get that comparable opportunity to gothia, compared to what ryan was doing?
- we’ve just heard little snippets of his life and it sounds like a really complex story to explore which i think would be really cool, dealing with grief and the loss of a family member, and how it affects day to day life
freddie
- once they get this formal opportunity, freddie would be asked to be more serious on the team, kind of always the jokester and not fulfilling his full potential
- he doesn’t know where he fits in and who he wants to be, was there something in his past that made him feel like he had to feel that jokester role (like how wozza with adhd always wanted to crack the jokes and make a fool of himself so people were laughing with him)?
- it would be great to see him get a bit vulnerable and open up about some of his motivations, but eventually he finds the balance between putting in effort and not getting distracted and also being his normal fun-loving self
- please keep commentating because that was lots of fun, freddie
liam
- i want to see him bond with one of the three when they’re in a bad spot, happened to be there by accident and they’re going through something that maybe he can relate to, that’s why he is able to help, that way it isn’t a planned way to get people to forgive him, but rather, just natural, now that he’s growing up a bit
- does he even want to do football anymore? or was it always a pressure from dillon being so good, and he’s found other interests? or maybe he just doesn’t want to be as good as dillon, i feel like there’s a lot of emotional manipulation from the dynamic at home, and i can see him realizing that he never liked football for football, he just liked winning and making his dad “proud”
the johnson family
- is karen dating someone new? i would like to see her on her own and she absolutely doesn’t need anyone to help her, but i also feel like she deserves someone that truly would be there for her and support her, especially after everything that’s gone on with ian
- i also want to hear more about her own career endeavors, and how that intertwines with jamie now going pro - she’s always been there to support him but it’ll be interesting to see how family impacts professional players in general, and ones that are really young like jamie as well
- is mike staying at phoenix? literally what’s the point of his character, does he even want to be with the now u14s? or is he going to try and interfere too much in jamie’s career, which he wouldn’t want because he’s now pro? maybe i’m just still kind of annoyed at mike and have a very negative view of his intentions, so ignore this
- ian can just disappear forever, please, unless he comes back for one episode because that’s what ian does
- what about feeling guilty for literally running his own son down bitch, i thought we were going to get a whole arc with that but maybe the point is that ian is such a flawed character and sometimes people don’t change and -
- who would teach jamie to drive, karen? new boyfriend? depending on who it is, it might present different issues with jamie learning to drive if they do want to explore him being a little nervous after the accident
TL;DR
i just kind of want to see more of the characters in their own individual element, bring in school more (season 2-3 vibes) and get a more well rounded view of some of the characters we don’t know a lot about. i think they’ve left it in a place with a lot of interesting storylines to be explored, i just hope we don’t get another freddie-eric-aisha love triangle situation
...
i was going to say stan stormzy for clean skin but it took me way too long to figure out what her name was so that is no longer a valid statement

Okay. Well, if I’m being honest, this episode was not the greatest. This is also the first analysis I’ve made for a show, at least that I’m posting. We’ll see how this goes. Strap in, this is going to be long.
I think we have all learned by now that Jamie-focused episodes are never the strongest. I find it a bit ironic that in a show called Jamie Johnson, the least interesting character is Jamie himself.
We finally saw the end of the, dare I say, idiotic Under-13s subplot. The classic “arguing friends are trapped in a room together until they make-up” trope was used to its, not fullest, but decent potential. The greatest part of this episode was the fact that their eighth-grade drama was resolved; that and the ten seconds of screentime Dillon received. Liam continues to prove that he has still not grown. Here’s my analysis of his development:
[I was going to insert a clever chart of his nonexistent growth, but I’m too lazy, sorry. Here’s a paragraph about it instead:]
Liam needs to learn that manipulating people and pretending to have changed is not maturity, it’s being an asshole. He has a terrible father, that’s true, but Dillon managed to change. Nothing has ever truly been at stake for Liam. He’s been able to lie and manipulate others to get out of all the trouble he’s caused. He was given a second chance to play with the Under-13s and has continued to use those around him in order to seem, I don’t know. Big? Powerful? All he has done is made the Three Musketeers dislike him even more. He has done absolutely nothing to earn their trust. I could go on and on about Liam Simmonds, which I suppose proves he’s an interesting character (that’s more than I can say about some people *cough* Jamie *cough*).
Eric learns that Aisha has feelings for him too. Yay! He also learns that Aisha is much smarter and more mature than him, choosing to step back and give him time to be with his friends. Yay? Freddie has been incredibly weird this season. I can’t tell if he genuinely liked Aisha as more than a friend, or if he thought he was supposed to, given how much Eric liked her. This entire storyline comprised of way too much unnecessary drama. Looking at Instagram comments, however, it seems that it was very popular among younger kids. I suppose I am a bit too old to be criticizing middle school relationship drama in a children’s show. Poor Alba was practically thrown to the dogs in favor of a petty love triangle. All of their problems were wrapped up so neatly, it felt a bit uncomfortable. Like they didn’t deserve this ending.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but something about this episode seemed off. When comparing it to other episodes with similar premises, the lack of emotion and genuineness becomes obvious. Take episode 10, for example, there were many (and I mean many) subplots. It was a little all over the place. And yet, the end of the episode left me feeling bittersweet, intrigued, and wanting more. This episode didn’t do that. I am sick of Jamie’s bullshit and tired of this dumb love triangle. Thankfully, the latter is complete now.
Onto Jamie’s storyline:
1) I told y’all Jetpac11 would be Jethro! These are some big brain hours.
2) This boy is supposed to be the TITLE character. His storyline is meant to be the most in depth, the most interesting, and, above all else, the most entertaining. It is none of those things. The stakes are supposed to be high, and they are, but they don’t feel like it? He supposedly lost his place at Hawkstone over a goddamn video game. Why don’t I feel anything except contempt? If not frustration at Jamie, then frustration at Ian, who I suppose I should be used to by now. Everyone says Jamie should know better than to trust him after all he’s done. That he should just listen to Mike. Obviously that’s true, but Ian was on his side, not the other way around. Ian enabled Jamie and allowed him to make a stupid decision, one that has huge consequences. Ian didn’t tell Jamie to keep playing for his own gain, well, kind of. He let Jamie keep playing because he though it would make him happy and regain his trust. It’s the same reason Mike lied to Hawkstone. Both adults displayed extremely poor judgement, Ian just far more so, as always. I must admit that I have zero interest in video games. I also have zero interest in soccer (or, rather, football). Yet this show keeps me interested in the matches and invested in the characters. They have failed at maintaining my interest in this video gaming storyline. Part of this could be because I find Jamie boring and repetitive, or maybe he simply seems that way due to the plethora of vastly more compelling side characters. All I have learned from this is that Jamie is a pretty terrible friend, a poor judge of character, and impulsive. These are all faults he has had since season 1, except he used to be a genuinely decent friend. He has grown more self-involved and one-sighted (and one-sided, as in one-dimensional, or you could take it literally, seeing as one leg is currently out of commission). I get that he was hit by a car and his leg is broken. He doesn’t see a future in soccer for himself anymore. Mike is right, though, he should be focused on getting better and being able to play again. I don’t even like Mike most of the time -- I honestly find him fairly annoying, although this may be due to the acting -- but he is the only sane one in the Johnson family right now. Both of Jamie’s parents are enabling him and Mike has too, though only for around an episode and a half. I am so happy this storyline will be resolved next week. I am sure we will still be left with a cliffhanger at the end, as with every season.
Dillon also got a bit of screentime in this episode (wow, a whole twenty seconds!). I really do like the way the writers are portraying how conflicted he is. He is torn between living a lie or risking his future as a professional player. I understand why they introduced Elliot. He was Dillon’s first crush and I think he was necessary for Dillon to come to terms with his sexuality. Where they messed up with Elliot, however, is by entirely removing him from the show after he fulfilled his purpose of giving Dillon the strength to come out. Just as @mcustorm said, he was a plot device and it was out of character for him to out Dillon. I could probably write a whole essay about how dirty both Elliot and Kat were done. The only way using exclusively Ruby to further Dillon’s storyline would’ve worked was if they kept the whole “Ruby has a crush on Dillon” thing from season 4. Doing that would likely ruin their entire dynamic as best friends and make things awkward. If they had done that and made, say Harry or Michel his first crush, they wouldn’t need Elliot to be Dillon’s first real crush. Although, Dillon was only around 11 or 12, and most real crushes don’t hit until 13-14, at least in my experience. Also if they had ruined Dillon and Ruby’s dynamic, then Dillon would have no real support system. I can’t really see Ruby abandoning Dillon over this, though, even if she had an unrequited crush.
Next week should wrap up both Jamie’s and Dillon’s storylines. It will also be the final episode of season 5! A lot to look forward to and a lot to be absolutely terrified of, not to mention the fact that season 6 production has been postponed for obvious reasons.
TL;DR:
It’s the end of the Under-13s drama! And possibly the end of Aisha, knowing how JJ deals with its newly irrelevant characters.
Jamie is being stupid and probably lost his chances of getting into Hawkstone. Or maybe not, considering he’s the protagonist of a kid’s show. JJ does have a habit of dealing out real consequences, though, so who knows.
Dillon got... something? He’s feeling conflicted, which is entirely natural, especially at this stage in his coming out.
Next week is the last episode! Stay tuned for more, I guess. Let me know if you guys enjoyed this type of proper analysis.

Ask Louis Tomlinson to name his favourite song on Walls and he’ll change his mind several times. It could be the title track, on which he shares co-writing credits with an idol. Or irresistible current single Don’t Let It Break Your Heart, which boasts his most addictive chorus to date.
Lyrically, he’s rightly proud of all twelve tracks, most rooted in real life, but in particular those that dig deep on subjects ranging from relationships and family to the folly of youth and days of self-doubt. Live, he’s most looking forward to performing the songs that reflect the indie-rock he grew up on and still adores today.
In fact, it scarcely matters which songs Louis likes best because his fans are about to get the chance to choose for themselves. After two years spent honing his sound and sharpening his skills as a heart-on-sleeve songwriter, the 27 year old simply can’t wait to release his debut album and take it on tour.
“I feel like this is the start of my career, with so much to look forward to and all the plans in place,” says Louis. “Honestly, I’ve been through every emotion possible in the past few years and come out the other side stronger and more confident than I’ve ever been.
“I know I’ve made an album that my fans will like, one that sounds like me and has its own identity. There were times I wasn’t sure if this was what I should be doing. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
2019 was the year that Louis found his feet as a solo artist. He followed his award-winning return in March with Two of Us, which took the tragic loss of his mother as a touchstone and connected with fans around the world, with a run of acclaimed singles – the raucous Kill My Mind, the reflective We Made It and the soaring pop perfection of Don’t Let It Break Your Heart.
2020 is the year that Louis goes live with a 50 date World Tour, his first as a solo artist, with many dates already sold out including all the UK shows. A recent date in Madrid was his first full gig since the demise of One Direction. From early March until late July, he’ll be on tour near nightly, crossing countries and continents with Walls.
“I don’t have long to get fit,” laughs Louis. “Seriously, I played football on a shoot the other day and ten minutes in I was wheezing. Don’t worry, I have plenty people telling me to get to the gym. That’s the only bit I’m dreading.” Walls’ collaborators include the L.A.-based Brit Jamie Hartman (Rag’n’Bone Man, James Bay) and Jamie Scott (One Direction, Bieber) If Walls recalls classic, ‘90s Oasis, it’s because Louis still listens to those early albums. “It really hit home when I was in the studio to hear the strings being recorded. There must have been 25 musicians in there, all for my song. It was a proper tear-jerking moment already and I’ve never felt a shiver like it.”
Fans will find plenty to tingle their spines on 12 songs that lyrically hark as far back as Louis’ 1D days, recall relationship ups and downs and relate the life lessons learnt on the way to 27.
The fabulous Habit is a message to fans and a reflection on fame steeped in gorgeous electric guitar, with a reference to Princess Park for 1D devotees.
“There was a time I felt like I was treading water with my career,” says Louis. “I wasn’t sure if I 100% wanted to carry on. It was frustrating and, of course, fame can feel intrusive when you’re unsure of yourself, but I tried to imagine myself not doing this job, not having the support of the fans and I couldn’t.
“Music is the habit that I keep coming back to. Forget feeling sorry for myself. Habit is a thank you to fans and a reminder to me to be grateful for being given this position.”
While We Made It recalled Louis’ pre-fame days, hanging out with his girlfriend Eleanor in her student halls and their teen dreams for the future, both Walls and the acoustic Too Young recount the break-ups that ultimately made the pair’s relationship stronger.
“Too Young is about meeting ‘the one’ aged 18 and, like a lot of blokes that age, not being equipped for it,” says Louis. “I found it hard to look that far ahead. I had to make a few mistakes and go down the wrong path to realise what I had and what I thought I’d lost.
“Walls is more specific. It’s about coming home having been on tour, soon after we’d split. I found some of my girlfriend’s clothes in the cupboard and it hit me what I’d done. I love the indie sound of the song and its circular nature – it opens and closes with the same lyric.”
That lyric – ‘Nothing wakes you up like waking up alone’ – is among several on Walls that shows Louis’ progression as a songwriter ready to reveal his vulnerable side. ‘The day you walked away was the day I became the man that I am now,’ is another.
“I pretend not to be romantic, but I am,” says Louis. “Two years ago, I couldn’t have written those lyrics. I would have felt too exposed. But that’s age for you, I suppose. It sounds daft because 27 isn’t old, but I think about ageing a lot these days.”
On Fearless, which opens and closes with children’s voices, Louis looks back at the peers he grew up with and ponders what ageing means.
“I’m at this crossroads age where I look at people from past and they seem so grown up to me now,” he says. “I won’t call them boring, but I do think people could take life less seriously. Have more fun while we’re still young because it doesn’t last.”
The oldest song on Walls is Almost You, the most recently recorded the album’s beautiful, stripped-back closer Only the Brave, which clocks in at a mere 1.44 minutes.
“The reason Always You stayed is that I teased 15 seconds of it on one of my socials years back and, ever since, the fans have been desperate to hear it,” says Louis. “I owed them that one.” “Only The Brave I think may have been written for Liam Gallagher. It’s the one song I didn’t write much on. It was played to me and I instantly adored it. There was talk of making it longer, but what’s great is that it’s so short, yet gets its message across so clearly.
“Plus, it’s the twelfth song. That’s more than enough of me in one sitting.”

exactly and what you said in your prev post that
“Though, right now I'd be more in favour of Jamie x Roy, anyway, since Keeley finally should get some time to sort herself out as an independent woman and to do some reflection and self exploration, instead of jumping straight into the next relationship. And Jamie and Roy can give her the support and encouragement she needs as her platonic besties.” x
feels like they had all this potential & intentional writing leading to this solution but decided they don’t actually care that deeply about these characters and what’s best for their personal growth/happiness & would rather pretend all their problems are resolved when they’re offscreen so yay let’s get that favourite het couple back together now that we’ve made the queers happy putting keeley in that toxic lesbian relationship with her boss that was def not reflective of rebecca & rupert at all so you will forget all the issues with roy x keeley that should seem minimal in comparison! regardless of the fact that they were both holding each other back at the end of their relationship.
also it feels so unfair to jamie. like, not that keeley should be viewed as a reward in any way, - tbh feels like the show is portraying her like that tho - i agree she needs time to herself for a while and is not a saint. it seems like roy just had such minimal growth — still important, but not enough to be ready to get back together with keeley again. like, he apologised to jamie for projecting his anger (just in that one instance tho). he did the press interview after rebecca yelled at him. and then he claimed responsibility for his part in him & keeley’s relationship not working (apparently entirely his fault?? no one told him otherwise which also seems unfair) and suddenly everything’s fixed.
what about all of jamie’s growth?? that keeley even acknowledged in the start of the season? he has basically zero issues aside from a lifetime of unprocessed trauma. he has a major crush on his coach who has volunteered hours of his free time - on top of seeing each other at work every day - to “train” him during which him & jamie have opened up to each other and clearly benefit from spending time together. they could thrive in a romantic relationship.
as i have written before, jamie would continue to be a gentle & patient support system for roy. help him address his anger & suppressed emotions & they could learn to deal w the hyper masculine & homophobic football culture together. roy can motivate jamie like no one else. he has gained jamie’s trust and would encourage him to open up about his traumas and roy would recognise how his anger has affected/triggered jamie in the past. they’d probably both have sessions with dr. sharon.
plus then they’d be that professional but obvious couple who are both very career focused but also probably fuck in roy’s office after practice/matches (or the boot room to will’s horror…but he knows by now to just leave when he sees them come in after that one time..) imagine how many problems them just having sex would solve. i mean, honestly.
roy/keeley said they were too busy for each other but that wouldn’t be a problem for roy/jamie since it’s literally their jobs to spend time together. roy can spend time by himself, with keeley, his yoga mums group, phoebe, the diamond dogs. jamie can hangout with colin & isaac, sam, dani, keeley, phoebe, be by himself, etc.
i just think this would solve a lot of everyone’s issues idk. too bad i don’t write the show lol
"Jesus, can you imagine if you fell for it, and you got back with Rupert? After all that floppy cock has done, you'd have to be insane. You would have to be at the bottom of your emotional barrel to do something that dumb, right."
Words of wisdom that don't apply when the floppy cock is Roy (not that Roy is as bad as Rupert, but he hurt Keeley a fucking lot), because in that case it has to be celebrated and people rejoice over the perfect couple getting back together.
Or will it actually turn out that it was dumb and insane for Keeley to throw herself back into a relationship with Roy, considering she is at the bottom of her emotional barrel right now?
Was this clever, intentional writing or am I—once again—giving the writers too much credit and the message in the end will be "If a good guy breaks your heart, take him back once he manages to do the bare minimum!"?
And Roy being like "Oh, I was stuck and a mess when I was with Keeley. When I broke up with her, I probably caused some damage, that I need to fix. And since I'm not stuck anymore and lighter now I should totally get back into the relationship where I felt stuck and was a mess!"
Yeah, a lot of their relationship problems were caused by Roy's insecurities and stuckness, and that was the reason he pulled away, but that wasn't all that was going wrong between them. There were still Keeley's abandonment issues and her inability to tell him stuff that might upset him out of fear of rejection.
So it would have been good to actually talk things out to see, whether it really was all him. (And honestly, both Roy and Jamie tend to put Keeley on this pedestal as if she is flawless and perfect and that might be nice for Keeley's ego, but it also doesn't give here the freedom to fuck up and be imperfect, which can be a lot of pressure.)
(I'm still so salty about it and if that was all there was to their reconciliation and they're endgame just like that, I'll be pissed. After having them apart and barely interacting the whole season, this would be way too rushed and just bad writing.)
