if you need more words cast and bench?
Thank you so much anon! This has taken a while to get round to but I'm here eventually!
For Cast - from God Forbid You Leave Me
“Should we have done this?” Higgins sighed. This was so impulsive. Jamie had made him feel just as useless as Rupert had always done and now here he was inviting him into his home just because he heard a sob story. He was a sucker for a sob story. Give him an injured stray like a lost footballer in a cast and all reason flew out of the window. “It was an impulsive decision yesterday but I would have done the same. It does give an explanation, not an excuse, but an explanation for some of his attitudes at Richmond,” Julie mused, pressing a coffee into Higgins’ hands. He hadn’t noticed the wince of tiredness in his eyes and the faint twitch of his muscles as he recovered from the eight hours of driving and the disrupted sleep as he watched over his new charge.
This sprint got me 247 words 🚨
For Bench - from Death Fruit
Jamie was warming the bench despite his sulking and determined protests. “You basically died three days ago Tartt,” Roy growled after Jamie had tailed him home from film the day before the Spurs match. “But I didn’t die did I!” Jamie huffed, perched on the counter as Roy put together a stir fry. Roy didn’t know when it was decided that Jamie was staying for dinner but he started cooking for two and couldn’t stop now without it being embarrassing obvious. Jamie might as well stay and pout at this point. Because Roy was not changing his mind on this. This was bigger than Jamie’s bruised ego. This was about Jamie’s bruised throat. He was still croaking for gods sake and was now saying that he was fit to play a ninety. He was at most fit for a ten minute spell at the end to keep his game fitness and that was only agreed because the physios said ok and Nate was a fucking coward when Jamie squared up to him in the film room earlier.
This sprint got me 205 words 💖

19 and 21 for the unwritten/unpublished ask game?
19. Is there any scene that you feel is really planned out/going to be really planned out?
The Higgins fic (god forbid you ever leave me) is generally one that I am writing as it comes to me but the AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso of it all is in detail planned out. Jamie makes the decision just before the festive period to not return to Man City and to request a transfer ideally either somewhere in Europe or to London. He's fired his agent and picked up someone that Higgins recommended from his jazz troupe and that agent reaches out to Ted about if AFC Richmond would be interested. Cue the Diamond Dogs meeting and Higgins having to desperately try to plead Jamie's case while also not telling everyone that he has basically adopted the boy at this point
21. Is there any unwritten fic that you don't know if you ever will write?
For whumptober (the insomnia prompt that then turned into One Step Out Of Time) I plotted out a fic where Sam started getting death threats for his public activism and Jamie taught him how to fight and how to feel safe under the looming threat of violence (all the while Sam is just sat there going "oh god is this what you feel like all the time" when Jamie is explaining the perks of hypervigilance). I wrote a scene of it and then proceeded to lose all motivation and didn't even want to look at it lol. I may come back to it if people want to see it but yeah ...
Here's the scene tho!
"Mate, you know I love you right?" Jamie bounced on the slightly too firm mattress absent-mindedly. He seemed uncaring that his friend was hunched in the bathroom between the sink and the ridge of the base of the shower. The slight pain of the raised plastic digging into his hip was the only thing that was keeping Sam's brain tethered to his physical form. He was not moving and risking losing that, even though his ass was starting to tingle from sitting on the cool hard floor for too long. This all didn't seem to bother Jamie though as he continued to move. Up and down, up and down. "So I don't mean this is to be harsh or owt but this is such a sad room to be stuck in," Jamie continued but despite the brutality of his words, his tone was soft. "Fuck you," Sam hissed, the anger sits low in his gut with the flame being fanned by the jagged breaths Sam was taking in as Jamie watched. Up and down, up and down. "Ah he speaks," Jamie beamed. "Come on, it's getting late," this time Jamie follows through his bounce and stumbles to his feet. "Yeah you should go," suddenly all the heat had faded from Sam's voice as he realised Jamie was leaving him to wallow in his fear and self pity, alone, again. "We should go mate. You don't think I'm gonna leave you here all on your lonesome?" Jamie huffed a laugh. His hand was outstretched and for Sam it felt like a lifeline. It felt like he could take Jamie's hand and everything would be ok.

For Word Game Wednesday, how about Imagine, Shape and/or Change?
Imagine - from the untitled RoyJamie Bingo Tattoo fic
“Absolutely not!” Roy exclaimed. “Why not!” Jamie yelled back, still holding the sharpie out at the end of his fingers. “You said my right foot was kissed by god. I thought it would be sweet,” Jamie pouted, bottom lip sticking out in a way that usually made Roy acquiesce to anything that the prick wanted but not this. “It is, and that’s exactly the problem. Imagine if something happens to it?” Roy growled. Jamie huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. “Val’s the best. She did all these fine,” he nods his head to his arm. “Yeah but that’s not your legs,” Roy groaned, massaging his temples with one hand as Jamie refused to back down. “It’ll be fine,” he whined. “Your right leg is insured for seventy mil Jamie!” Roy shouted.
Shape - from Where the Hell is the Karma? Ch4
“Jamie is in rough shape. I am not going to beat around the bush with you but there is nothing that won’t be fixed in time. His hands and wrists are the worst of it. They were serious lacerations that went a while without treatment. We think there may be some nerve damage in his hands but surgery can be done to repair it or the nerves will repair themselves in time. He lost a lot of blood and we are replenishing it now,” he gestured to the IV, pausing the morose list. “The wounds to his head were not major but there is likely post-concussion syndrome. The main thing that we are concerned about is undernutrition and the loss of body mass. As I’m sure you know,” his eyes flickered to Roy, “Jamie’s body was used to high intensity exercise and a high calorie intake. Even with a reduction in exercise, Jamie’s body was burning a lot more calories than he was taking in. He has lost a lot of weight and muscle mass. We will have a better picture when he wakes up,” the doctor finished with a little sigh.
Change - from God Forbid You Leave Me (like everybody else did) Ch1
“I want you to hear me out before you laugh but I want to offer for you to come stay with me for a little bit,” Higgins broke the tense silence. “You what mate,” Jamie gawped, unable to decide if he should laugh, smack Higgins round the head or discharge himself against medical advice. In the end he decided to just gawp. “You look like you need a change,” Higgins smiled, Jamie just continued to stare. His brain just didn’t compute. That was such a stupid suggestion that Jamie couldn’t even come up with an acceptable response. “I hate to see someone hurt and I think you could do with some time out of Manchester while you can’t train. A little holiday so to speak,” he added, presumably when Jamie didn’t look like he was capable of answering. “That’s mad,” Jamie eventually stammered out. Maybe it was the painkillers talking hold, he was on the really good stuff so this could easily be a painkiller induced fever dream. Maybe Higgins wasn’t even here and this was all some batshit hallucination.

For the word of the week: team, friend, Dad and/or Mum
Truly astounding that I can ask for words and then like 5 minutes later have three wonderful individuals in my inbox with word suggestions! Love you guys xxxx
Team and Friend - from Dutch Courage Ch4
The AFC Richmond Greyhounds minus Jamie Tartt group chat was going wild. Originally the group chat was kept around so people could bitch about Jamie when he rejoined last season but when people had decided they liked Jamie again it had just fallen dormant in favour of the one with their whole team in. But now it was alive with activity. The team had been informed earlier that day by Rebecca and Higgins that the threat towards Jamie had escalated and because of that the club and Jamie needed everyone to be careful with their own activity to reduce access to Jamie. In contrast to prior interactions, the greyhounds were all leaping to the defence of their friend. Jan was trying not to be bitter about their lack of prior action, pointing that out would be more productive later.
Mum - from Are We There Yet? (the RoyJamie roadtrip fic)
Everyone who had spoken to Jamie in the past three weeks would know why Jamie was upset that the train drivers were on strike. It was his mum’s birthday this weekend and it was an FA Cup weekend so Richmond weren’t playing. They had been knocked out in embarrassing fashion in Round 3 but no one was mentioning that little snippet of information. But their embarrassment did mean that Jamie could go see his mum and surprise her for her birthday. It was all planned out and it was all Jamie had talked about for weeks.
Dad - from God Forbid You Leave Me Ch13
“Oh my god,” Jamie gasped, the hacked croak of his words running the risk of falling into hyperventilation. “Jamie, are you ok?” Higgins exclaimed. His focus shifted immediately in concern for his young charge. Jamie was huddled up against the wall. His eyebrow bleeding sluggishly left trails of deep red down past his rapidly swelling eye frantically darting around. Jamie’s body was curled protectively around his newly recovered arm, protecting the fragile limb from any assault. “Jamie talk to me lad,” Higgins crouched down in the gravel, having to drop down to one knee as the joints protested that position. “My dad,” Jamie stammered. “I dealt with it,” Higgins stated, resting his hand on Jamie’s chin to examine the wound on his head more closely. Jamie’s eyes were flitting but could focus and were now focused on Higgins' rapidly reddening knuckles.

“Let writers ramble to you about their stories and they will forever love you.”
PLEASE RAMBLE AWAY. I will forever love you if you do ;)
I'm using this as an excuse to word vomit and talk about some things that I am working through particularly in the Higgins fic.
So the concept of this fic is that when Jamie Tartt arrived at AFC Richmond, Higgins tried to get him to complete his arrival paperwork and got a classic Tartt response
"It seems like to me mate that you get a hard on for all these forms and shit," Jamie grinned like a lion, locked onto it's prey. "So, how about you fill em in for me, that'd be grand lad. Ta," he laughed, patting Higgins on the cheek and throwing the papers back at his chest. Jamie turned on his heels and left, leaving Higgins in a cascade of blank paperwork and staring at the back of Rupert's most recent wonder signing.
So for want of a better option he filled in Jamie's emergency contact with his own details. Jump to about a year later and Higgins gets a call from a hospital in Manchester that they've got a Jamie Tartt admitted with a dislocated shoulder, a broken elbow and maybe a concussion. Remembering what he does know about Jamie's family from the Ghost Fire speech there's no way he's calling Jamie's dad and Jamie isn't close with his mum so it's either leave him to the Man City physios or drive 4 hours up to Manchester to make sure he's ok. For some reason, Higgins picks the 2nd option.
It explores Higgins seeing that Jamie just needs someone in his corner. Jamie determined that he is fine in Manchester and doesn't need a healthy paternal relationship. Higgins determined that he has five sons and he doesn't need another one. And both of them being wrong.
So I've got a few things I'm working out with the fic as a whole:
Do I write it just as Jamie POV or do I jump? So I personally have a soft spot for writing fics with just one narrator because it really allows for full unreliable narrator but then you are constrained to things that character is seeing. On the other hand if I build in other characters then you get the full picture. Maybe a few Higgins POV chapters and seeing his internal monologue as he somehow ends up basically adopting another child, Rebecca or Ted POV as they work out that Higgins is 100% hiding something with them. Etc. So yeah, I haven't worked it out yet.
Do I post all in one go or in chapters? So I am going to write this fic in chapters because I feels like it just falls that way. It's going to cover a long time period so breaking it down feels right. BUT do I then post when I have a chapter done or wait until they are all done and then post them. On one hand I am so motivated by praise and comments and kudos so posting and getting a positive response will help keep motivation. But on the other hand when I post my brain tends to go, "oh it's posted so I can take a break on that fic" and then I do and it takes forever to get the subsequent chapters out.
Does Jamie end up back at Richmond? So spoilers but in this fic he doesn't go on LCA. This is set about the time he would be signing up for LCA and so he gets affectionately kidnapped by Higgins instead which does mean he doesn't implode his career. He's not going back to Manchester but that doesn't mean only Richmond and that doesn't mean that when his arm heals he'll go back to football. He's going to be in a far healthier place than in canon. So what does he do ... I don't know yet!
How does Dad!Higgins react when brought face to face with James Tartt Sr. This is a confrontation I am looking forward to writing but I also have no clue what it is going to look like lol.
And for dealing with my rambles here's another little sneak peak from a potential Higgins POV:
“But just look at him Leslie. You told me all about him but just look at him,” Julie muttered, tears in her voice as she turned Higgins around to peer into the living room. The end credits of Midsommer Murders were rolling but there was no one awake to switch the channel. Jamie was sprawled out on the settee. His head was pressed against the arm in a way that would give him a crick in his neck when he woke up. His injured arm and shoulder were trapped and propped up in the way the doctor had advised. His breath was whistling softly and his face looked free and unburdened for the first time in the time Higgins had known him. His good arm was buried, mid scratch, on William Shakespaw’s back. The dog was perfectly still, content, looking up at Higgins with tongue lolling as if to say “the human has fallen asleep on me therefore I cannot move until he wakes.”

Bonus words:
Secret/s/ly
Danger
Brave/s/r/ly
Ahh thank you love! Very helpful!!
Danger - from Dutch Courage
As soon as the door closed, all the tension seeped out of Jamie. The danger was on the other side of that door and now he was home it was clear he could just be. Unfortunately that stoic tension seemed to be the only thing that was keeping Jamie upright and coherent throughout the ride home. His bag thumped onto the floor next to the shoe rack and Jamie fell back against the door with his face in his hands. Before Jan could make it back, Jamie was shaking and whispering something to himself that was muffled by his hands shielding himself.
That sprint got me 268 words!!!
Secret - from Everybody Wants To Be On TV
“Come on Roy we need to get moving they’re doing a sweep of the perimeter looking for us,” Jamie urged. That got Roy’s attention. “How do you know that?” Roy asked but did start moving forwards. “I have my ways, my secret ways,” Jamie smirked, and waved a walkie talkie at Roy. One of the Hunters’ walkie talkies. “How the fuck do you get that?” Roy asked at the same time Oscar gasped from behind the camera, getting closer to see this exchange. “Stole it,” Jamie shrugged, looking way too proud about admitting petty theft on camera.
And a much needed 286 words today!!
Finally Brave - from God Forbid You Leave Me
To lay hands on your child, to know you are responsible for the pain and bruises that plague them, to bring them down and shatter their confidence … Higgins couldn’t imagine doing that to his own boys. Even by surviving Jamie was so brave. But he had made something of himself in spite of all of this and that was even more impressive. Imagine what he could do when if he had a supportive group of people behind him. The Higginses could be that. Higgins wrapped his arm around Julie and gave her hip a little squeeze as she leant into him. “Thank you. For letting me bring him home,” Higgins sighed. “I know we said that we weren’t going to adopt anymore strays for a while,” he chuckled, rubbing at his eyes because he was tired of course … not any other reason.
With 264 words from the sprint for this one!!

🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 for whenever you want to share more from this new idea
Of course! I'm still plotting out what it is actually going to look like because Mission Give S1 Jamie All The Father Figures isn't really a full plot outline but rumbling on with it today!
“Morning love,” Higgins chimed, leaning closer to the phone even though he was using the Bluetooth in the car. Jamie couldn’t help but smile at the blatant old man move. He turned his head to lean against the window to hide his face and pretend he was still asleep. Damn painkillers, lowering his defences. At least he wouldn’t be in Manchester and feeling all off and soppy and weak. His dad wouldn’t think to look for him in Richmond because it’s a batshit crazy place for Jamie Tartt to be. His phone was burning a hole in his pocket, Jamie would have to turn it back on eventually but for this car ride he could just pretend that he was going on holiday with a friend in the off season. He could pretend that everything was ok for once in his life even as the world crumbled around him. “Hello darling, how is he?” Higgin’s wife’s voice echoed out of the crackly speakers. “Worn out the poor lad. He fell as sleep basically as soon as we got into the car and is out like a light. Although looking at the bag of drugs he’s on right now I’m not surprised,” Higgins scoffed a laugh. “Poor thing. I’ve got the roast in the oven. Kris has taken the boys out for the day so that there’s less critters under his feet when you get in and it’s less overwhelming,” Higgin’s wife explained. Jamie pressed his head against the cool glass of the window and screwed his eyes shut in a vain attempt to stop them misting up. These damn drugs. One person is slightly kind to him and he starts blubbering like an idiot.

How about heart, friend, noise and/or coffee (or tea) for the word WIP thing.
Ee thank you! Was focused on getting the Roommates AU started but these are a lovely treat for another train day! 🧡
Tea - from Where the Hell is the Karma Ch5
“You told me to do this Roy,” Ruth groaned, leaning on Roy’s counter with a truly obscene amount of paperwork in front of her and a cup of tea balanced loosely in her hands. “I didn’t want to but you played my ego like a fiddle and here we are,” she rolled her eyes as Roy smirked. “I wasn’t entirely lying. Jamie needs the best and you are the best,” Roy shrugged and then effortlessly dodged the football shaped stress ball that was launched at his head. “You played me and you know it. I don’t know how to do half of this shit and, the worst part of it, I’ve got to deal with you fucking daily,” she grumbled. “Wow, now that’s rude,” Roy grunted. “I love you but I don’t right now. The reason I’m here is purely professional. We need to get Jamie’s weight up, like seriously we need to,” Ruth slipped effortlessly back into doctor mode.
Heart - from God Forbid You Leave Me (like everybody else did)
His heart was pounding and he didn’t know how to make it stop. The real crazy thing was that Jamie was actually considering it. Well maybe not going to live with Higgins or whatever, but getting out of town for a bit. Jamie didn’t need to be in Manchester for his rehab initially, the doctors were saying at least a month until any return to physical activity. A month on a Greek island? Sun, sand, alcohol, that was just what Jamie needed. So why wasn’t he able to choke out the words to tell Higgins thanks for the offer but nah mate.
Friend - from the untitled Jamie is good with kids fic
“Hey there little buddy,” a familiar prick like voice laughed, and Roy thought this situation couldn’t get any worse. Jamie stood leaning against the doorframe with his patented smirk etched onto his face. “Piss off Tartt,” Roy growled, staring at the offending infant that was now gripping onto his trouser leg. It was staring up at him with those big Disney eyes and dopey smile. “Woah there Kent, language in front of the little one,” Jamie laughed but stepped in and swooped the toddler off the floor and into his arms in one effortless motion. Roy, for a moment, panicked. Jamie Tartt holding a baby, what if he fucking dropped it. What if his phone rang or something and he got distracted and the demon got hurt. “I don’t think Royo here wants to be your friend kiddo,” Jamie laughed, poking the kid on the nose and earning a little giggle for his troubles. Roy froze. The kid seemed … happy? With Tartt?
Noise (actually noises) - from The Richmond Job Ch3
Ted startled as he climbed the stairs and moved to unlock the door to the flat. It was late and everyone had gone home to rest up and continue the investigation tomorrow. Beard and Rebecca were on Sam Watch and all the others should be in bed. So why was Ted hearing noises from inside. The door was unlocked, even though Ted knew that he locked it before he left but at least that allowed Ted to inch it open to get a better idea of what he was walking into. Deep down some part of him still had the initial response of “we should call the police” but that was quickly laughed out by the devil on his shoulder that instead offered the suggestion of “we should call Roy” which was far more reasonable.

🌹🌹🌹🥰🥰🥰
Hoarding these for a rainy day and despite it being uncharacteristically warm today THE TIME HAS COME!
This is because God Forbid You Leave Me is now fully plotted out! The masterpiece is going to be 15 chapters so I have decided I am not going to start posting until I have at least 6 chapters of it written to try and contain myself. I currently have 1 chapter written and a lot of bits. Some chapters are better plotted than others and some have highlights like this
and
So here's a little snippet of what I actually have written ...
“I’m not being an idiot,” Jamie pouted. “Yes you are,” Terry chimed in from a couple of pews away. “Shut up, you’re supposed to be playing your game,” Jamie huffed. “And you’re supposed to be babysitting,” Terry crossed his arms, looking less than pleased at the detour. “I am babysitting, now play your game and be quiet and then we can go get burgers.” That seemed to appease his charge and Terry returned to playing on his switch quietly. Jamie turned back to Lindsay who was smirking with his arms crossed in the exact same pose has his younger sibling had just been sporting. “What?” Jamie frowned. “You’ve taken to this whole older brother thing like a duck to water,” Lindsay chuckled. Jamie’s brain short circuited and he was sure he was looking like a goldfish and not in the good Ted Lasso way. “Really?” Jamie whispered, his cheeks flushing as he grinned. “Ten out of ten Tartt,” Lindsay rolled his eyes.

Words for the make me write / sprint:
Fast, achieve, under
Ah thank you! This has been very inspiring to get me to write this morning!
Under - from The Richmond Job
"God fucking dammit Tartt!" he yelled. "Your job was to be bait and you just fucked off," Roy growled, one hand holding the ice pack to his face and the other snapping up to grab Jamie by the neck of his shirt. Jamie ducked under the grab and pushed Roy back away from him with a flash of teeth.
The sprint fostered 335 words 😍
Fast - from Have You Noticed You Are Breathing
"I appreciate all sports, hard not to when you know what it takes to get to elite level. Played a bit when I was younger for my school, best player of course, got a wicked fast ball. But bowling and footie, different muscles. Some point you gotta choose," Jamie replied, that was the easiest reason to confess anyway. No point getting into British class divide in sporting opportunity with Ted.
For that one the sprint got 411 words! 💪
Achieve - from God Forbid You Leave Me
All his dad wanted him to do was to succeed, to achieve the highest of heights in football. Jamie wanted that to. But then here he was, running away to London, again, in the car of a guy who he was pretty sure hated him for justifiable reasons. Jamie still wasn’t ruling out that this whole day was some sort of lucid fever dream.
And finally this sprint got me 293 words 💕

4 and 10 for the Higgins fic :)
4. Is there anything in the fic you're unsure about including?
There's absolutely the James Tartt Sr of it which is going to be focused about how the parental guidance from Higgins makes Jamie feels like he's that stupid little teen again in a calming way whereas from James it makes him feel like that stupid little teen in a vulnerable way.
But ... I am debating about whether Georgie will make an appearance.
Because with James it is easy for Jamie to do "oh I'm just trying to rewrite my brain that a father figure doesn't need to be a source of fear". But with Georgie, Jamie doesn't have those negative connotations but this fic is exploring the fact that in my mind Georgie didn't traditionally "parent" Jamie. There were never any boundaries either because she was working so hard or because she was so young and worried that she would hurt him like James did. So Jamie loves his mummy more than anything but then Julie is coming in and "mothering" him in a way that Georgie never did and that takes Jamie a long time to get his head round.
I don't really know how Georgie would respond to this and so think that dealing with her likely trauma about feeling like she's failing Jamie might just derail the fic. But then again it adds to what is going on in Jamie's head ... so tldr I haven't worked it out yet lol
10. If unpublished, can you show a sneak peek of what you've written?
From when Jamie gets to the Higgins household
“Sorry they smelt new blood and had to investigate!” Julie called out, hurrying into the entrance way. “Hey love,” she whispered, giving Higgins a little kiss before they both tried to grab a dog each. “Introductions and then we’ll get you sat down for lunch,” Higgins smiled when the dogs were restrained. “This is Julie, my lovely wife and ruler of this domain,” Higgins waved one hand to Julie. “It is lovely to properly meet you Jamie,” Julie smiles, offering her hand to shake. “I’d give you a hug but I think that might have to wait until your shoulder is a little better,” she adds as Jamie shakily takes her hand. “Thanks, it’s nice to meet you too. I’ll try and not be in the way,” Jamie stammers. “Oh don’t you worry sweetheart. It’ll be lovely to have another adult in the house,” she smiled and Jamie’s heart twisted again. He had been nothing but a dickhead to Higgins and had hurt the team he worked for and yet, they were acting like they actually wanted him here. Fucking mind games, but his mind was too fuzzy to work out the catch.

Six (or actually Seven) Sentence Sunday
From God Forbid You Leave Me (Like All The Rest Did) aka. The Dad!Higgins fic
“Oh come on Jamie you must be fucking kidding me,” Linday sighed. Jamie startled, straightening up and turning to stare at Lindsay. “Mate can priests even swear? I also don’t think priests are supposed to swear at their congregation,” Jamie frowned with a little exhale of displeasure. “You are not part of my congregation Jamie,” Lindsay scoffed. “You’ve been to an actual service once and you kept looking like if you stayed too long you would set alight. I’m talking to you now as basically your older brother and you are being an idiot,” Lindsay explained.

Some sprint words!
Scrape and/or bruise and/or hear
💚🌹💚🌹💚
Hear - from the untitled RoyJamie Cuddlepollen fic
Roy wakes up and immediately the state of his body hits him like a freight train. He’s sweat all the way through his shirt and feels the heat radiating off his body. Nausea rolls in his stomach and he dreads what will happen upon any movement. All Roy could hear was the pounding of his own heart and he was pretty sure it wasn’t supposed to be beating that fast. There was nothing Roy wanted to do more than just lay there and suffer. But his skin felt horrible and sticky and his mouth was weird and tacky. He needed to get up.
And that sprint got me 375 words on this fic!! 😍
Scrape and Bruise - from God Forbid You Leave Me
He looked younger than his 23 years when he was conked out in the homey living room. Higgins just wanted to scrape away at that wall that he had constructed around himself and properly get to know the real Jamie. There had been hints and slips when he was at Richmond and since he had got injured he had been nothing but sweet. It just made him angrier and angrier. To lay hands on your child, to know you are responsible for the pain and bruises that plague them, to bring them down and shatter their confidence … Higgins couldn’t imagine doing that to his own boys.
And those two sprints got me 547 words 🥹

To deploy whenever 🤍
For this incredible gif you get a little bit of God Forbid You Leave Me (like everybody else did) as I write on this train!
“He’s not usually,” Jamie started but couldn’t force the half lie out of his throat, “he didn’t mean to.” That was a more comfortable half lie. His dad didn’t mean to break his arm and dislocate his shoulder. Yeah that was a likely consequence of shoving him into a doorframe and kicking him in the arm when he tried to get to his feet. But he probably didn’t intend to break anything. He wouldn’t deliberately harm Jamie’s career, that was the one constant. “It doesn’t matter whether he meant to or not Jamie,” Higgins sighed like he was trying to teach a toddler the alphabet. Jamie guessed to other people it may seem like he was. But other people hadn’t grown up with James Tartt as a father, and as a name. It wasn’t that simple. It was never that simple. “What matters now is that you are somewhere safe and comfortable to recover.” “I was thinking Greece,” he blurted out without thinking. Damn painkillers.
