Hot take that I have yet to see anyone have at all, but personal jjk head canon:

Naoya has HUGE closeted trans woman with intense internalized transphobia and misogyny vibes

Don’t get me wrong, huge shitbag and everything. Awful person. But I get intense vibes of so much of what he takes out on the women in his life (ESPECIALLY Maki and Mai) is also projection. And he HAS to be super masculine and shit because that’s the system that protects him.

Idk. It just. Makes sense to me.
