Some fun portraits for characters I haven't thought of in a hot second! If you recognize them and still remember their very first versions you're eligible for a veteran's discount. Finally getting some inspiration for them but I am just working on stories in general...you know how it is
also, I've decided to remake this story's title into THE MAGIC WE CREATE. Never really vibed with the last one. If you're new here those words probably dont make a lick of sense but that's ok

OJT EATS | Turnips with Tomas Lidakevicius @ Borough Market

As you can imagine, the pandemic forced a lot of peopl to think about doing things a little bit differently than before.  This was especially the case for restaurants and the food industry.  A prime example of that would be Turnips in Borough Market.  Previously just a grocery stall, they have recently partnered up with chef Tomas Lidakevicius to come up with Turnips with Tomas Lidakevicius, a food offereing showcasing some of Turnips produce.

This is the menu that he has come up with, a small selection of bread, small plates and desserts.  We thought we’d try a few of the small plates:

The torpedo watermelon with swordfish and elderflower.  The watermelon was sweet and amazingly juicy while the swordfish was fresh, melt in the mouth and with a subtle flavour.  The sauce was a little tartar like but a little sweeter.  The leaves were a nice touch but didn’t add a huge amount flavour wise.

This dish was the outdoor tomato with walnut and gorgonzola.  The tomatoes were delicious, super flavourful and juicy.  The walnuts were caramelized so provided a great little crunch to it and the blue cheese was in the incredibly more-ish sauce.  I always like how tomato salads are generally super simple but when done well are great and this was definitely done well!

The menu just said seafood sausage so we weren’t really sure what to expect.  It turned out to be a the above.  It reminded me almost of an oden fish cake but not quite so homogenous.  It was really tasty and the sauce it came with was pretty seafood-y but also really good.

Our last dish was the ex-dairy sirloin with wild garlic pesto and silverskin onions.  The beef itself was a tiny bit tough but made up for it with the amount of flavour it packed.  The pesto cut through a little of the beefiness and the onions were a nice touch as well.  I could easily have eaten 2 or 3 of these portions!

It’s a bit surreal sitting in the market having a meal.  This was the setting we were sat in.  Once you get used to the fact that you are sitting in the middle of produce, the food is pretty amazing. 
They also offer a tasting menu that would be really interesting to try! Will do my best to get back there for that!
