excuse me, can i please talk to you for a minute? do you know somebody named...y-you know his name. oh yeah, definitely, i know his name. well, i just want to let you know that he's mine. no, no, he's mine.

hi, this is carol and i wanted to create a fun blurb writing exercise a la @superblysubpar and @chechelia considering the current state of the eddie munson x reader fandom. i, personally, can barely stand the seemingly never ending infighting between writers and groups on here. whether it be writing style or characterization, it seems everyone sort of has a problem with everyone. (not me tho, i truly am vibing). in the words of monica and brandy 'you need to give it up, had about enough'. -- so instead of leaving, i wanted to try something fun, fresh, and cute to bring us together. we all have our own eddie munson head cannons that we hold near and dear to our hearts. but i think that's part of what's fun about fandom, there's a little something for everyone. so this exercise is a way for us to all be on the same playing field -- same prompt/dialogues we have to use. only written how your personally HC eddie, our og guy (no au versions pls). i loved how this manifested on cece's old blog because it was so fun to see what people came up with. below is the dialogue and prompt as well as the best way to participate. yes, if you are a steve girl you can participate lol. if you are someone who has me blocked and/or vice versa and would like to participate, please send your link to a friend so i can add it in an upcoming masterlist.

the scene: a romantic night in at the trailer. props included/mentioned (in passing or can hold bigger meaning): a throw pillow, vanilla frosting, a small notebook. dialogue included (can be manipulated slightly if needed, can be placed in any order): - "i ran out of like, nice cups, is this okay?" - "aw, don't be like that. that's not even true." - "and you like that?" - "if you don't stop, we're gonna have a problem." these don't have to be sexy. they don't have to lead to anything. it's just a romantic night in -- and it can end in anything. angst, fluff, smut, alien invasion. who cares! i just wanna see how you'd write in your world with YOUR eddie. so we can see all of our eddies!

That’s right folks! The reboot/sequel to the classic nicktoon show The Fairly Oddparents : A New Wish is out right now internationally on Netflix! And you can check it out to see the fun adventures of Hazel Wells, a 10 year old girl who recently moved to a new city with her parents away from her older brother who was her best friend she rely on, but now is off to college. To which Cosmo and Wanda, two fairy godparents, who decided to come out of retirement to help her out with dealing with her new environment and situations she’ll get herself into.

It also is the show with that purple guy with swirly hair you’d seen on tumblr before? That’s right, Peri!

If I was able to peak your interest on the show, please go check it out on Netflix! And only watch it on Netflix as the show’s fate to get a second season depends on the views on Netflix for it to be greenlit for one. So no pirating and if you don’t have Netflix to be able to watch it, spread the word! To help get this show a second season is to help the talented crew members who work hard to deliver such a charming show that is a wonderful and fateful continuation of the OG it’s based off. Along with a win for animation since it’s been hard in the animation industry as of right now with animators, editors, storyboard artists, writers, and others in this industry struggling to be able to continue working on projects they love that also is their source of income. So be willing to lend a hand to help out to those people the best you can so that they can continue to have work and make fun shows like this one! Also it determines the fate of a certain character to hopefully get a happy ending and a good redemption arc plz my child deserves a second chance

Also here’s some advices for when watching A New Wish:

Try watching an episode or two a day. Putting it on loop too much might make seem not real viewers are watching and the views won’t count. Plus it be boring to speed through the first half of the season.

Try rewatching the show from time to time. Maybe watch it with a friend or two. Or perhaps a family member who enjoyed the OG show. Watch it with your dog maybe too!

Despite the show being out and most of the stuff being talked about already, keep talking about it to spread the word online! Any socials like tumblr, instagram, twitter, blue sky, tik tok you name it!

Also don’t post spoilers for any new viewers you see around. It’s more fun for them to experience first hand.

I’m trying to find my way around tumblr looking for more stories to read, but there are some ‘terms’ I’m unfamiliar with and can’t figure out. I did the google search, but it did not help me just recommended stories (seriously Google… you had one job…😐).

So I hope someone sees this and can help me😅.

(I don’t know if it’s relevant but I look/read K-pop fanfics)

1. What are “hard thoughts”?

I saw this listed on a master list (I’m guessing a master list is like a list and over a writers stories, sorted by genre and members/ships) and as a genre alongside smut, fluff and angst I saw “hard thoughts” I also think I saw “hard hours”? What does this mean???

2. Reposted?

Tumblr calls my own page “my blog” and when I shared a story and it appeared in “my blog’. I can see it has 5200 something ‘notes’ (I’m guessing ‘notes’ are like likes). These are the authors likes right? I saw the OG post had about the same notes.

I know I made a comment about how much I loved the story and maybe people liked that, it just confuses me, if I got that many lines/ notes for something that is someone else’s hard work.

3. Can I make a master list as a reader?

I read a story and at the end I noticed by the tags, that it said “made by xxxx” and that was not the name of one the post I found (i found out they had shared xxxxx post I just didn’t notice). This made me slightly waist of plagiarism, but if it’s a reader sharing and spreading the authors story and gaining it more attention (like how I found it) I would think it’s okay. I would love to share my favourite stories with others and have my favourite authors get more recognition! Is that how it works?

And then could I and other readers make a master list of the stories we share so if a fellow MOA sees my ‘blog’ they would easily see I fav and shared stories???

(Please let me know if there are more to some of these things. Like “morally wrong”. I’ve spent a total of 50 minutes on this app ever 40 min spent a reading stories. So I don’t know anything other than what’s on first glance.)

4. What does MDNI mean?

I saw in a profile bio “MDNI!” And another “DNI” what does this mean?

Those are my questions for now. I’m used to reading in AO3 and before that I read on Wattpad, and I’m beginning to read stories on Twitter or X (im also learning how twitter works rn). So I know the most of the fanfic ‘terms’ like pwp, dead dove and so on.

I’m just struggling with how the new apps work (twitter/X and tumblr) and these new terms on here.

Event Horizon , Call of Duty, Modern Warfare (Original series), Makarov/Price, D/s-verse, rated M. This may be one of my favorite fics I've ever written, tbh. Makarov/Price was the ship that got me into this fandom, and this one starts with them meeting in Berlin in 1989 and continues up until MW3 OG (the 2011 version).

Won't Go Down Easy, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Claude/Felix, D/s-verse, rated E. Felix is a cranky sub who's sent to Almyra after the War. Polyfic but mainly Claude/Felix.

Malware Byes, FFXV rated T. Ardyn, Prompto, Gen, Humor. Prompto is the Empire's IT guy. Ardyn is the worst help-ticket in existence. I just had a lot of fun writing this one.

Come Aboard, Let's go Dreaming. Final Fantasy VIII, poly!fic, Seifer/Squall/Rinoa. Starts a V, goes from there. I love this OT3 more than I can properly express.

Limit Break: Now With Donuts! Final Fantasy VII, Sephiroth/Cloud, humor, rated T. I don't know why but this may be my favorite fanfic I've ever written. Cloud and Sephiroth attend a seminar about "facing the arch-rival within" with Dr. Phil. I don't know.

I'm very partial to Begin the End (Sephiroth/Cloud) which I started writing, left on a cliffhanger for three years, came back and finished :D This is my forever OTP <3

And the fic I'm working on now, Salt and Vinegar, which is Makarov/Graves from Call of Duty Modern Warfare (Reboot), D/s-verse, an...enemies-to-captive-to-allies-to-lovers fic, LOL. Mentioning because I'm quite pleased with it! I forever love rare pairs, villain/hero and banter. :D

Hope's Review of S3: Other Subplots

There were some interesting subplots this season. I feel that the real problems was that they added little weight to the story. You could remove them, and they wouldn’t have any impact on the story.

AND THAT IS A PROBLEM.

Bridgerton does not have the time to put in plots like this that don't wither push Polin's story, or set up a future Bridgerton romance. And even worse, most of them were solved within an episode or within one conversation.

E.g. Lady Danbury and her brother. Legit one conversation and decades of resentment suddenly crumbled away. I think such a disservice to the characters.

Violet & Lady Danbury

Concerning Violet and Lord Anderson. It was cute and I understand that they set stuff up in QC but they really didn’t need to give that much screen time to establishing yet another couple. 2 couples in one season is a lot, 3 made it feel stuffy—and we lost precious Polin time because of it.

If the problem was that you wanted Lady D and Violet to do something, then that is easily fixable.

Let Lady Danbury have her OG book role. Have her be Pen’s champion through the season! Have her meddle with Colin. Have her good naturedly question Pen about Debling. The plot is literally in the books!

Violet storyline with Francesca was so good this season. A really interesting subplot that gave insight into both characters. That would have been plenty enough to do for Violet. As for her desire for companionship? Why not let the storyline with Francesca teach Violet not to close herself off to a slow match, let her realise that it might not be like Edmund. Why not let her have a convo with Anthony about it? Why not have her meet someone at the final ball? Then allow it more space in later seasons.

Featheringtons

Again, I loved the moments, like this one. ICNOIC. But not so much the writing.

Albion Finch and Phillipa were undoubtedly the cuties of this season. PERIOD.

But the whole baby making plot whilst funny was unnecessary. Especially as it was mostly forgotten about in part 2. Perhaps the writers could have spread out the storyline of Penelope becoming friends with Penelope and Prudence's jealousy?

Their subplot was a little more justified because they were connected to Penelope, but that is now gone. Polin have finished and there is no need for them to have substantial plots going forward. Moments? Yes. Subplots? No.

Will and Alice

I ADORE Will and Alice. I love their relationship and how it is so unproblematic--just two people deeply in love. Also their personalities are brilliant, especially Alice's. I would much rather watch them over Featheringtons any day. And being the only working class couple in the show is so refreshing.

But, if I am going to say that the problem with other subplots were that they didn’t impact the main story…then I’ve got to apply it to everyone.

It was nice that their storyline was separate from the Bridgertons, but that was also its problem. It was separate from the Bridgertons. You could take it out and it wouldn’t make a difference just like the Violet & Marcus plot. And that is a problem in a show already stock full of characters with only 8 episodes.

I also think they’re subplot could have been more interesting and useful to expand the Bridgerton world. I've touched upon it here.

I am also going to do a separate post about some other things I found…interesting with the way they wrote that storyline.

JUST GIVE ME THEIR OWN SEASON--PLEASE!

Queen Charlotte

Now, while I don't have much to say, it was a great example of how you can utilise a subplot that pushes along the story.

QCs 'journey' this season was sort of understanding that she actually likes the competition of Whistledown and secretly wants it to stay--but that journey pushed the main plot (Polin) along due to the announcement of the reward. Tf, for me it didn't feel out of place or disjointed unlike other subplots.

Also, I'm not mad at all that the Queen was the one who started the hunt for Whistledown. it made a lot more sense for it to be that way.

I can’t not mention my baby 😭 For people who like very long, very smutty, emotional action/adventure fics that don’t skip smut. Even though I feel like I’ve improved a lot since writing this, I’m very proud of this story! It was my main vice for all of the happy feels and horniness that came from 300mg of Wellbutrin.

Extemporary Intimacy (28k)

A different take on the whole “virgin/asexual Ten” thing. Where the Doctor regenerates into something of a horny thing, and as a result, enlists Rose’s help to teach him about sex. And, oh yes, there is quite a bit of that 💀

For All We’re Worth (30k)

There need to be way more fics where the Doctor gives Rose her very first orgasm. This is me begging any writers who might be reading this — please write that concept. Fuck. In the meantime, here is this fic, which I hold very near and dear to my heart. Oh, and there’s truth serum. Yay!

Washed Up Together (20k)

This was my first standalone Tentoo/Rose fic 🥺 The OTP of all OTP’s. Also my first gift to my dear friend Niyati (tagged above). Love, misunderstandings, a little bit of jealousy, and lots of very graphic first time smut — my favorite thing.

The Purpose of Repose (95k)

My Ten/Martha-Ten/Rose fic that I’m always apprehensive to rec (for obvious reasons) — but to be honest, I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written 💀 Being that the majority of the readers are diehard TenRose shippers, I feel just comfortable enough tacking it onto this list!

Sirius is a princess who falls in love with her. The pen was on fire the entire time I was writing this. I’m really proud of the prose all the way through, especially the smut. If my chef’s special is smut described through beautiful figurative language, this fic is my 5 Michelin star tasting menu.

2. Tough, Tried, True Blue: (Wolfstar) The long fic of my heart!!! My pitch for this fic is that the next time you get the urge to comfort reread the Harry Potter books, you should read this instead. I’m basically writing the kids books I would have wanted to read that would have saved me a lot of time figuring out that I liked girls. It’s simultaneously deeply nostalgic about the OG books and deeply hostile towards JKR.

3. stupid and alive: (AFTG) So this fic is basically a courtroom drama and I’m the lawyer and Nora Sakavic is the witness and I cross examine her until she breaks on the stand Legally Blonde style. Except it’s actually just a deep character study of Andrew Minyard. I reread this a little while ago, and I don’t want to brag, but that is the point of this ask so. The prose in this fic fucking rips. Like, I was really on some shit. I also think the therapy scene in chapter two is some of my favorite dialogue I’ve ever written. I had a point to make and I made it, everyone clapped.

4. The College Years: (The Atlas Six) Of course I have a soft spot for this fic because it was the first fic I ever wrote and it was co-written with @capacity-for-wonder. We had too much fun writing this, and everyone should read it and then gaslight Mel into thinking that she enjoys writing! She’s very good at it! Essentially I wanted to write The Raven Cycle but Maggie Steifvater already did that so I had to write this instead as the next best thing. The fact that we wrote this before reading any marauders fic is unbelievable, because this is also basically a marauders fic. If you like TRC and Marauders fic you should absolutely read this. You don’t even have to read Atlas Six first, because it’s a prequel.

5. Immaculate Conception (Girls Kissing Remix) (Wolfstar) Sapphic horror fever dream based on an AU from Claude’s (@achilleslikespeas) incredible brain? Yes please! This fic is like a little Neapolitan ice cream treat. The vanilla is sapphic Wolfstar, the chocolate is a demon baby, and the strawberry is religion. They finger bang in the church basement! Need I say more?

Razor Sharp White Teeth is my top by a good margin, and then Slacken, Tense, and then a little bandom fic i wrote on anon over the pandemic. i really only got into posting fic because of the talented folks in the f1rpf tag, so even though i have a lot of stuff written for other fandoms, none of it is on the internet

Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

yes i do! i think it’s such a great way to spread positivity and i love when people respond to MY comments, so i always try to at least say thank you whenever I can :)

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

both RSWT and Slacken, Tense have sort of ambiguous endings that i guess could be angsty?? moreso RSWT, i think i could see max and daniel’s relationship being sort of strained after the events of that fic. i also have a little snippet written from ausgp that involves max and scotty getting into a literal, physical fight, which (despite it being very silly in the actual fic) is still way more intense than i usually go so i’d consider that angst, kinda!

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

again, not a lot of endings to draw from, but i think the end of this galex tumblr fic was quite sweet :)

Do you write crossovers?

i haven’t yet, and i’m not sure if i would for f1 (unless someone infects me with the motogp virus perhaps?) but if i ever get back into bandom, definitely. crossovers are just about all they do over there.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

if i have, i’ve never seen it 🫣

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i do! both of my f1 fics are rated e and are M/M, although i’ve written F/M/M (roy/jamie/keeley from ted lasso) and F/M (kaz/inej from six of crows, and roman/gerri from succession) before as well. but overwhelmingly it’s slash i suppose

not to my knowledge! although honestly, unless it was word for word, i don’t think i would ever accuse someone of stealing a concept 😭 maybe i’m too non-confrontational but i genuinely think i would convince myself out of the idea before i would ever say or do anything about it

someone offered to translate RSWT but they deleted their comment and i couldn’t track them down :’) anon if you see this please feel free, but i was honored that they even wanted to!

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

not properly, but my irl bestie redscarez has let me do some heavy cheerleading on their fics So Real and Favorite Son which are both EXCELLENT and i loved being in the Gdocs for both of them.

What's your all-time favourite ship?

gosh that is HARD. maxiel and galex honestly probably make the all-time leaderboard, recency bias nonwithstanding, but there are a few others that stick out for sure. pete/patrick, in fall out boy rpf. draco/harry was sort of my intro to fandom/subject of my OG exploits on ff.net, so i feel a bit indebted to them as a pairing (not a point of pride, considering you-know-who went off her nut, but oh well). kirk/spock. weirdly, johnny/daniel from the original karate kid have my heart. there are a lot, i think i just love fandom hahahaha

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

so many. so, so many. in particular though i have this abo au where max is a stubborn alpha who doesn’t take suppressants, and daniel is a specialist brought in to regulate his hormones when he’s NOT in rut so that he won’t be as thrown off when he is. it’s basically medically necessary JOI, and in my head it’s so long i get intimidated just looking at the start of it 🫠

What are your writing strengths?

i’d like to think it would be word choice! i have some metaphors (“like a drugged dolphin” from RSWT, for example) that still pop up in my head every once in awhile. in general i just like to throw fun words and phrases at the wall when i’m writing :) i also do enjoy editing and all those boring bits which i’m grateful for hahaha

What are your writing weaknesses?

i’m sooo slowwww! i worked on Slacken, Tense for MONTHS and i still didn’t finish it until the night before the third round deadline. i just have zero writing stamina 🤧

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i am fully fluent in spanish, so i'm definitely tempted (mostly when i’m writing carlos) to add little phrases and whatnot, but i’m always worried it’ll come across as forced or hard to understand 😞 i never want it to be jarring or tokenizing in that way, so i usually refrain, but as kitty said i do think there’s a huge intimacy aspect that can be achieved with language-switching and i admire when people can pull that off smoothly.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

i chatficced a NORTRELL fic a few days ago which sort of came out of nowhere?? but there are some absolute scholars in that tag, and since lando and i don’t always get along IRL i’ve actually been really liking it as a vehicle for characterizing him in the super-duper specific way that i have in my head. in my head it’s more of a testing ground but who knows, maybe i’ll sit down one day and actually write something out!

What's your favourite fic you've written?

i suppose it would be Razor Sharp White Teeth! i was just so blown away by the love on it and (not to be corny) it made me so appreciative of how lovely the f1rpf space is :’) engagement isn’t everything, but as someone who mostly writes for nobody’s eyes but my own, it was extremely motivating to see the kind reception and i still go back and read some of the comments on it :')))

Deadendia Book 3/Entire Series Thoughts

Spoiler Warning obvs, but ill leave the spoiler thoughts under the cut.

General thoughts

Holy shit Hamish's art got so much better as it progressed. I loved the general style of book 1 don't get me wrong, but the polish in book 3?? Im so excited to see their next works

I love how each character progressed, I don't read graphic novels normally so I'm not sure if this is the norm but some stuff felt rushed. Natural for the character's arc but it happened so quickly

I'm so gay for the men in this series. I'm so sorry for the stuff I will draw on alt accounts. Hamish if you see any of that I am so sorry/you're welcome?

The representation and just general experience of the characters (much like the Netflix counterparts) made me feel so seen as an individual in a way any other media has not.

I loved how Barney and Logs were never portrayed as perfect for each other, even being a point of making the "perfect" ending weird for them. It felt nice. I wish Az had more time to develop a dynamic with Logs but like, page space and the amount of time you have in a comic series is limited. (this leaves more space for my brain to fill in the gaps so its fine)

Norma and Badyah was the long game, Normyah enjoyers I hope the pay off knocks your tits clean off. I also LOVE Zagan being a rebound, I believe in doomed Yuri.

I would have to say the beside you in time series by @blackandwhiteandrose. I was hooked anyway with waiting for lightning, but then five-sixteen came out and I was done for. This series is such a treasure that stabs me in the feels every single time. I consider it a top comfort read.

stupid people by brewrosemilk / @gayhoediaz. Nie has such a way with words, I never get over it. This fic caught my attention from the beginning with sex worker!Buck and how he's portrayed. The saucy bits are off the charts, but it would be a disservice to ignore the sheer intimacy that develops between Buck and Eddie. All the angst and pining is 100% worth the wait.
