One thing about Dresden is that pedestrians will stop at a red light. In Leipzig you se a red light and you go 'fuck if I care, there's no cars coming' and cross the road. I have seen large groups of people crossing at a red light at the main train station. But not in Dresden. Here they all wait nicely.
#in general I adore how they are both very worldly cities but with polar opposite vibes#like on the one hand you have the etherial grand city where politics happened and continues to happen#she is full of tourists and is filled to the brim with buildings that are old as balls (well. relatively) or at least act like it#and on the other hand you have the city of commerce and the arts. not that dresden doesn't have art#but it feels more institutionalised compared to Leipzig#you visit dresden to see the sights in Leipzig the sights kind of suck bc the city cares and always has cared so much about change#about bringing on the new even if that means destroying the old or at least changeing it#you're in Leipzig for a concert or a festival or an exhibition or a trade fair#you tell Leipzig she is ugly and she goes 'and what about it. I don't care about your opinion'.#as for dresden. well she is an honourable old lady with so much grace you would not dare to call her ugly (but you would dare#to make fun of her goddamn bridge drama. it is compulsory actually. I do live in Leipzig I do have to drag Dresden through the mud#whenever I mention it. even though it is dropdead gorgeous)#like. Leipzig was a city where the citizens were so well off they held balls which explicitly excluded the nobility#(unthinkable in most cities) and they kicked out the Prince-elector of Saxony on one occasion bc they didn't want to payroll#a palace.#and well Dresden has always been the capital of Saxony.#She even has the stupidest goddamn catholic church under the sun#Unlike Leipzig which has the second most stupid catholic church under the sun (although for entirely different reasons)#I'm honestly quite happy to be working in dresden atm#it is so beautiful. I love Leipzig for how lowkey ugly it is although she also has her pretty spots#she is in no way cologne or anything like that#but it deters the tourists well enough

Look! Look! Art by @dredgenaves for my story!!!

It was early and many of the market vendors had not opened up their shops, carts, or stalls yet in the rubble of the last city where everyone routinely gathered for commerce. Eris wondered if the Drifter also preferred the lack of people or if his insistence that they come this early to ‘avoid the crowds’ was entirely for her benefit. Probably for her, she realized. A crowd, for him, would simply be a cloak of invisibility.
She reached out and touched a t-shirt, rubbing the cloth between her fingertips, smiling at the softness of it.
“That one? Really?” the Drifter asked her.
“The material feels nice.
“You uh… don’t see colours the same way, do ya?”
“No. What colour is it?”
He waited a few moments, watching her fondle it, and then leaned in close and whispered in her ear. “Bubblegum pink.”
Eris drew her hand away as though the shirt had bitten her.
He laughed, picked up the shirt, and held it up against her, eyeballing the fit.
Eris gave him a look that could curdle milk…or blood.
“I have limits, Rat, and that is well beyond them.”
He laughed again and turned to the merchant.
“Do you have this, but in black or maybe grey?”
The vendor pointed to a pile of clothing in a barrel on the other side of a table.
Eris heaved an audible sigh of relief.
The Drifter began picking through it. “This might do,” he pulled a couple of pieces into his hand. “We'll want to add in a layer or two.”
“We don't even know if they will fit.”
“Oh these'll fit.” He paid the merchant.
“How do you know?”
He gave her a sideways look with a half smile and licked his lips.
“Hmmm…”
“Oooo…” the Drifter stopped at a spice vendor they were walking past who was just opening up their stall.
Eris found the cacophony of scents overwhelming and wandered past the spices to an area filled with pottery. The elderly pottery vendor looked at her suspiciously. Eris found a selection of chunky looking mugs and began to pick up individual ones to sense their weight and feel how the handles felt against her hands.
“You should get two.” The Drifter’s voice was by her ear.
“I was thinking of it. What colours are these?”
“That one’s green and that one’s blue. Both dark and swirly. They don’t match but they also sorta go together. They look nice.”
“Very well.”
“Smell this.” He shoved a small bag in her face.
She sighed and inhaled. “Oh… that is nice… is it tea?”
“Yup. They said it’s oo-long, whatever the hell that is. Smells fancy.”
Eris smiled. “It is. I like oolong.”
“Well we got some now and if you get mugs we can put it in them and be fancy together.”
Eris took the mugs she’d selected to the nervous pottery vendor and attempted to be non-threatening. He took her glimmer with shaking hands.
“Now, let's find you some boots that don't look like they're for walking on the moon.” Drifter tugged at her elbow.
“Everything about me looks like it's for walking on the moon… Because I spend most of my time walking… on the moon.”
“Yeah well, we ain’t goin’ to the moon which is why we’re getting ya non-moon shit for those rare times when you ain’t on the moon.”
“Hmmm…”
“This place has a bench. Here.” He tossed her a pair of dark brown leather hiking boots. “Try those on.”
“The feet fit,” she said after a few minutes, “...but the calves and ankles are a bit too wide.”
“Really? Let me see.”
He knelt one knee on the ground in front of her and pulled her foot up onto his leg. His hands slid along her calf down next to her ankle. Eris would have sworn his hands were empty, especially since she had felt all his fingers caress her gently, but there was a sudden weight and she felt an object pressed against her ankle. Something several inches long in a leather sheath.
He tightened the boot laces and tied them off with a bow.
“Nah I think that's perfect.”
He pulled her pant leg down to cover the knife.
“Let me see the other one,” he grinned.
“Hmmm…”
She replaced her left foot with her right as he repeated what he had done.
“You just ain't tyin’ it right, Moondust.” He looked up at her with mischievous eyes. “Try that. Walk around a bit. Make sure it feels good.”
He stayed on one knee as she stood and walked from one side of him around to the other. She reached out a hand and brushed her fingertips against the side of his beard. He leaned into her hand like a cat and looked up at her with affection.
“I think you might like being on your knees in front of me,” she said quietly enough so that only he could hear.
He blinked rapidly, looked away from her, and gave a nervous laugh. “Now that’s a dangerous observation for you to make.”
“Hmmm…”
“Boots good, though?” He stood.
“Yes. The additions are… comforting.”
“Ain’t never met a hunter… current… or former… who thought there was such a thing as too many knives.” He winked at her.
The Drifter spent some time talking with the leather worker while he was paying for the boots. They conversed in a language Eris did not understand. The Drifter seemed to be asking for something beyond the boots and the vendor asked a few more questions before they came to an agreement and glimmer exchanged hands.
Eris looked around at the market. More people were arriving now. More vendors were opening up their shops in the rubble. A small child stared at her over a barrel of apples. Eris stared pointedly back. An adult behind the child called it away. A few moments later it returned to stare at her over the apples again. She couldn’t see the face, only dark hair and eyes wide with fascination. No fear. Only inquisitiveness. Eris stared back, one side of her lip quirked up in a small smile.
“You frightening children?” The Drifter teased her, pulled gently at her elbow.
“No. They are not afraid.” Eris turned to follow him. “I appreciate naked curiosity. It is so much more refreshing than fear.”
A lone Eliksni was setting up a stall slightly apart from the others, pulling out bolts of cloth and placing them on a table. The Drifter tugged Eris’ elbow again and walked over to converse with the cloth merchant in fluent Eliksni. Eris followed, impressed.
She was able to understand the essence of what they were saying but her Eliksni was mostly gathered from reading books with Eido and what she’d picked up fighting Fallen on the moon. The alien language flowed from the Drifter’s lips and hands as naturally as the unknown human language had before with the boot vendor. He asked specifically about colours first, and then softness, elasticity, flexibility, absorbency. The merchant’s bottom two hands pulled out a bolt of cloth while the top two gesticulated regarding the craftsmanship of the weaving and the materials used.
“Hey, Moondust, touch this one for me, will ya?”
She reached over and fondled the cloth. It felt soothing, light, yet strong. The texture was instantly pleasing to her. She gave the merchant a small smile.
“Yes,” she said quietly but firmly.
A portion of the cloth was cut and folded. Drifter asked about the price. The merchant pointed to Eris and asked a question she did not follow. The Drifter nodded. The merchant raised all four of its hands in refusal. The Drifter insisted and suggested a price. The merchant shook his head and protested. Drifter put a small bag of glimmer on the table. Nods of respect were exchanged. The Eliksni looked toward Eris, bowed deeply, and spoke much more slowly. “Thank you,” he said in his own language, and then he switched to theirs, “...thank you. Eido told us. It is… great honour… thank you…”
They both gave the merchant a small bow in respect before turning away.
“What has Eido been telling people?” Eris asked him quietly as they walked toward several stalls containing fresh vegetables.
“It seems the scribe of the House of Light may have informed them how one of their allies took the wind outta the sails of not one, but two hive gods, at great personal risk to herself, and lived.”
“Hmmm… The Eliksni material feels delightful. What is it for?”
“Your eyes. What you have now is all rough and scratchy. I seen where it chafes. This is light enough it can go underneath between what you have now and yer skin. Won’t look different at all, but it’ll be soothing on your face. Feel nice. I ain’t telling you to hide or not hide your eyes. That’s a you decision. Nor am I telling you what to wear, on your eyes or otherwise. But… you should get to feel nice… if and when you want to.”
She took his hand and squeezed it.
The sounds of the market were beginning to pick up, voices all around were increasing: negotiations, call-outs, the occasional shouting. Eris found it all very overwhelming. Outside of combat, she was never around this many people at once. Her pulse quickened. The Drifter was a central point of calm for her in the swirling noise, but the noise was increasing. She gripped his hand tighter. He looked over at her, concerned.
“It is loud,” she explained.
He nodded and pulled them into an alley and around a corner, which helped to cut the noise.
“Thank you.”
“I think we got everything we need at this point and the day has now fully started so it’s only going to get louder. Shall we bug outta here and go tell Sherlock Mamma-bear we’re running off so she does not hunt us down and nova bomb our camp out of concern for our wellbein’?”
“Yes.”
“All right. Back alleys and shortcuts will be quieter on our way back.” He took both her hands in his as he started walking backwards, slightly bouncing on his toes. “This is my bag, Moondust. Allow me give ya a quick tour of the sketchy side of town.”
His eyes sparkled in glee as she laughed and followed him down the alley.
This is the first in a series I wrote on Ao3 called Embers and Stars (aka Eris and the Drifter go camping and then there is violence). FYI a few of the later sections have some nsfw happyfunsexytimes but those sections are clearly marked with skip links for anyone who isn't into that but wants to still read the stories.

Today's mix:
Ministry of Sound: Trance Nation: America Two by ATB / George Acosta 2001 Trance / Progressive Trance
Really wasn't fully captivated by either of these trance and progressive trance mixes from ATB and George Acosta that were issued as a double-disc exclusively in the US in '01 by the gargantuan superclub-label Ministry of Sound. Both have some pretty decent moments on them, but there are undoubtedly other mixes from around this same time period that're consistently better.
Some of the best parts of ATB's mix are, somewhat ironically I guess, two of the biggest commercial trance smashes of the turn-of-the-millennium era, in Safri Duo's "Played Alive (The Bongo Song)" and Ian van Dahl's worn-out vocal classic, "Castles in the Sky." But not too long after that, ATB loses me with his own cornily acidic remix of Nino Lopez Project's "Experience," and then fails to regain my interest thereafter.
George Acosta, on the other hand, gets his bangers out of the way pretty early on, with a sublime and euphoric five-song run that consists of Lexos' "The Key," a remix of Steve Morley's "Sacred City" by Shane aka Ronald van den Beuken, "Exhale" by System F aka Ferry Corsten, "Sun" by Slusnik Luna, and "Surreal" by Free Radical. And while "Exhale" and "Sun" were both huge especially, it doesn't appear that the other three made it onto too many other mixes during this time period, so in addition to sequencing the songs well, Acosta deserves some points for the originality in his selection on that whole leg too.
My main problem with his mix, overall, though, is that it feels a bit too inorganically forced after that. Being that we're dealing with an entity like Ministry of Sound here, we have to keep in mind that their DJs on these releases have to select the immense and shiny tunes that play at MoS' own clubs too; their main impetus for putting out DJ mixes like these, after all, is to get your ass into their clubs or to get your ass to their events. And that doesn't necessarily mean that the music's then bad, but it does seem to naturally open up an ample opportunity for commerce to take precedence over art, because while true music fans of pretty much any stripe are not too keen on their favorite genre(s) being commercially exploited, you gotta think that in order for MoS to make their money hand over fist like they do, they have to lean into that commercial aspect of the music in order to make it easier to draw more people to their sets. And it's fine if you like the music that results from that strategy (like I said before, I dig stuff like "Castles in the Sky" too), but a monumentally tall melody alone is not something that's ever going to wow me, personally—I'll always find it a bit hokey if you think you can just get away with a honking blare, and a lot of trance tracks, like the "Arome remix" of DJ Scot Project's "O (Overdrive)" that Acosta closes his set out with here, makes for a prime example. But that's the sound that ultimately sells and fills out the big, cavernous rooms that those songs were made for in the first place, so, I mean, what can you do? 🤷
In the end, Ministry of Sound only ever put out two releases in this Trance Nation: America subseries of theirs, and I'm not sure exactly why they stopped, but it seems they couldn't really figure out how to market trance to enough Americans via DJ mixes in order to make the venture worthwhile. Seems like in other music arenas, such as pop, execs have decent ideas of what Americans typically like and what different sectors of Europe like, but when it came to trance more specifically, Ministry of Sound couldn't figure out a way to really crack the code Stateside. But maybe they didn't even really try too hard in the first place and tried to sell these two discs to Americans just because. Either way, I wouldn't really recommend either of them, despite both of them having some merits.

“Now you can go wherever you want to go! Now you can do whatever you want to do! Now you can be whatever you want to be, And love is the song you will sing your whole life through!”
~“There is Music in You” from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella
x~x~x~x
Yay, here’s that other Cinderella AU art I’ve been working on...a proper “happily-ever-after” image for the newly crowned King Cosimo “Orion” Amari and the “Maiden of the Glass Slipper,” Queen Carewyn Cromwell!
I imagined this as being a “portrait” hung up in Florence’s palace for many, many years after these two’s deaths, hence the “symbolism” in some of their fashion choices -- Orion decked out in Florence’s flag’s color scheme (green and gold) while Carewyn is dressed in Royaume’s (red and blue), since she was born and raised there; Carewyn wearing a crown-inspired earring both reminiscent of Royaume’s flag crest and held in Orion’s hand, since her role as queen was something she inherited through marrying him; and finally the “glass slipper” on Carewyn’s foot poking out from under her dress. In the last’s case, I headcanon that Florence’s people was so charmed by the tale of their future queen saving their king’s life that Carewyn was gifted many such “glass slippers” over the years by her subjects and courtiers, decorated with everything from real glass to diamonds. Most of them weren’t comfortable enough to actually wear, but Carewyn still accepted every such gift with grace and gratitude. Carewyn’s wearing her hair loose -- something she started doing a lot more often after finally being free to be with Orion -- and Orion and Carewyn are also both wearing the matching gold and emerald coronets they first wore on their wedding day, so as to signify their equality as partners and their shared desire to be approachable to peasants and noblemen alike. And indeed, their legacy after death was as two of the wisest and kindest rulers Florence had ever had, instilling financial and legal reforms and investing in higher education, and were survived in future generations by a new port city rife with trade and commerce named for their friend and ally King Andre of Royaume; a crown-protected nature reserve; multiple hospitals, courthouses, libraries, and orphanages; and a university named for the queen’s brother.
Orion’s outfit was partially inspired by this painting by Giovanni Battista Moroni from the 16th century, with a capelet appropriate to the period. Meanwhile Carewyn’s was inspired by this beautiful dress worn by Olivia Hussey in the 1968 film production of Romeo and Juliet, though with a different color palette!
Much love, all! Have a magical day! ✨
#hphm#hogwarts mystery#cinderella au#carewyn cromwell#orion amari#my art#art#no I don't see carewyn and orion having any kids in this universe#in no universe does carewyn ever have any biological descendants -- the most she ever does is adopt as in the case of erik in her canon#and in orion's case he only ever had eos because he was in a relationship before carewyn#I imagine they bestowed their crown onto mcnully and kc's descendants <3#therefore putting the amari royal line to an end#and yet oh boy even without kids florence remembers and cherishes these two forever <3#and while they're alive they cherish each other to the nth degree#carewyn is protective AF of her husband when dealing in foreign policy#and when it comes to the cromwell clan...yeah orion ensures a healthy distance between them and his wife#not just because he knows she wants nothing to do with them but because he has no interest in them 'disrupting his wife's inner peace' :I#the weasleys badeea talbott jae andre and the others though? always welcome in florence :)#'they bring sunshine to my Queen's spirit and that sunshine warms me more than I can express' <3

" You must excuse my curiosity in matters like these; there is little opportunity for any citizen in Belobog to dream of the stars and travel to make such a reality but... do you do this often? Venture into the unknown, utterly unaware of what perils might await you there? ⸺ I imagine it to be terribly daunting, no matter the routine. " as a military leader first & everything else second, she certainly would know; how various agonies & anxieties would never wane, no matter how much of a second nature the battle for survival would ultimately become. Nevertheless, her thoughts & emotions tied therein are a secret she keeps, offering amicassador a gentle smile instead, attention flickering towards documents in front of her instead for a moment ere fixating other's gaze once again. " That said, allow me to properly welcome you to the City of Everwinter, Lady Tingyun. "
AN UNEXPECTED LETTER, for @zajevre .
she had to admit that it was a bit nervewracking coming here by herself. especially after the crisis on the luofu, it was a miracle that yukong ( begrudgingly ) allowed her to head this mission. there was little information on jarilo-vi to brief herself on; tingyun knew of the snowy plains and she knew only one city inhabited the world. fragments of intel like this was gleaned from the careless ramblings of march 7th and stelle. despite this, it was surprising to see just how empty and just how frigid this place truly was.
their circumspective nature was more than understandable. this was not the first government to hesitate in matters of commerce and it would not be the last. however, she more than appreciated the welcome that the madam guardian herself set for her. within belobog's frosty roads there was warmth to be found in their culture, remarkably formal and reserved but otherwise polite even towards a newcomer such as herself. guards galore were stationed at all sides of her as she navigated her first days here. a timely audience with the illustrious bronya rand was a greatly appreciated perk, as well.
clawed hands cradled the tea cup offered to her upon her arrival. the steam radiating off of liquid's surface was welcomed in earnest, its ghost leaving behind wafts of something herbal and floral. a long, generous sip filled her chest with a much needed warmth. a relieved sigh, then came the guardian's burning questions.
" bronya's speech was remarkably formal and calculated in a way that was to be expected of a political leader. an even rhythm, careful anunciation, and virtually no tonal fluxes to be heard. any diplomat would be truly impressed by the tact in which she expressed herself.
though ... somebody as practiced as herself in the art of perception would notice that this question was outside the realms of business. interesting, but not something she felt the need to dwell on. tingyun smiled and replied back with similar tact. " please, i don't mind at all! it's truly an honor to be sat before the madam guardian herself in the first place, let alone to have her interested in my adventures. to answer your question: yes, i make trips to other planets quite frequently. though, it has been a while since i've gone to a new planet. helm master yukong, my superior, has been apprehensive of sending me out after our own stellaron dilemma, so it is incredibly exciting to be out in the galaxy again! "
her rambling came to a natural close as she took the opportunity to sip tea once more, the brew notably cooler than her first sip. even the office was colder than what she was used to out on the luofu. lashes fluttered from cup to companion ⸺ she noted the soft, unwavering smile upon bronya's features as her eyes smoothed over the endless documents that bordered her desk. a fine desk it was, large with rather sturdy construction from what she could tell. a subtle nod guided her gaze back to tingyun's.
" ... that said, allow me to properly welcome you to the city of everwinter, lady tingyun. " bronya graciously said. she noted that her tone became the slightest bit colder, not out of malice but out of scripted obligation.
the foxian's line of sight gravitated towards the grand, open window at their left. from here she could see the buildings of the city, the vendors' booths, the trollies, and the people who have spent their entire lives in this city. she thought of how they would never live to see this planet dethawed and flourishing. for a moment, tingyun thought of how perhaps she might if this all worked out. what an oddly sobering thought.
it was as she said, though. jarilo-vi truly was unique in every way. with somebody so young and bright at it's helm taking initiative the way bronya rand has, even an outsider could find inspiration in her vision. tingyun turned back to her companion and smiled warmly. left fist met right palm in the luofu's traditional greeting. " and allow me to thank you, madam guardian, for your exceptional hospitality. i am thrilled to experience your beautiful city for the first time. let the relationship between our homes flourish under your leadership. "
#zajevre#QUESTIONS.#IC.#VERSE: longing to travel like roaming clouds.#zajevre tag.#first meeting!#introspective fox is introspective#she cant read bronya fully cuz shes got that shit locked TIGHT but one of her hobbies is literally peolpe watching so#i wanted to point out that she notices a lot of lil nuances from her

Handmade Heritage: Discovering Pakistan’s Wooden Handicraft Culture
Pakistan is a land of rich history, artistic legacy, and centuries-old craftsmanship. From the valleys of Swat to the bustling streets of Lahore, artisans have been shaping raw materials into art for generations. One of the most impressive—and often overlooked—forms of this craftsmanship is the art of wooden handicrafts, especially the intricate creation of the wooden watch box and other elegant storage items. These handcrafted pieces not only serve a functional purpose but also reflect the cultural identity and skilled artistry of Pakistan.
The Tradition of Woodwork in Pakistan
Woodworking has been a respected craft in Pakistan for centuries. Traditional artisans, often referred to as “ustads,” pass their skills down through generations. Whether it’s the fine carving of walnut wood in Kashmir or the intricate inlay work in Sargodha and Chiniot, each region has its own unique style.
The wooden watch box is a relatively modern product within this traditional landscape, yet it is a perfect example of how age-old techniques have been adapted to create something both useful and beautiful. Crafted by hand using premium woods like Sheesham (Indian Rosewood), Walnut, or Cedar, these boxes are not only practical but also pieces of art.
Function Meets Craftsmanship
A watch storage box isn’t just a container—it’s a display of elegance, a guardian of timepieces, and a reflection of personal style. In Pakistan, these boxes are often made with meticulous attention to detail. The process starts with selecting the finest wood, known for its durability and rich grain patterns. The artisan then cuts, carves, and assembles the box, often adding decorative elements like brass inlays, velvet interiors, and glass lids.
What makes these boxes stand out is the human touch. Each High-quality watch organizer is shaped by hand, sanded until smooth, and polished with natural oils or waxes to bring out the wood’s natural beauty. Unlike mass-produced boxes, these handcrafted items have character—each one slightly different, each telling a unique story.
Supporting Local Artisans
When you purchase a wooden watch box from Pakistan, you're doing more than buying a product; you're supporting a livelihood. Thousands of skilled workers in cities like Chiniot, Karachi, and Peshawar depend on the handicraft industry for income. These artisans often work in small workshops or even from home, using traditional tools and sustainable practices.
By investing in a High-quality watch organizer from Pakistan, you help preserve a heritage craft and provide artisans with the means to continue their work. In a world dominated by factory-made goods, handcrafted items carry a rare authenticity and soul.
Why Choose Handmade Over Factory-Made?
There are several compelling reasons to choose a handcrafted watch storage box over a factory-made alternative:
Uniqueness: No two handmade boxes are exactly alike. You get a one-of-a-kind item with its own character and charm.
Quality of Materials: Pakistani artisans often use high-grade woods and eco-friendly finishes, ensuring durability and elegance.
Cultural Value: A handmade item is more than an object—it’s a piece of history and culture.
Sustainability: Many artisans use locally sourced, sustainable wood and natural finishing techniques, making the product environmentally friendly.
Customization: Many artisans offer customization, allowing you to choose sizes, finishes, and even engraving to make the box truly yours.
A Perfect Gift
Looking for a thoughtful gift for a watch lover? A High-quality watch organizer from Pakistan makes a perfect present. It's stylish, functional, and infused with cultural richness. Whether it's for a birthday, anniversary, or Father's Day, a handcrafted wooden watch box speaks volumes about the value you place on both the recipient and the gift itself.
Exporting Craftsmanship to the World
Thanks to the growing popularity of e-commerce and international shipping, Pakistani artisans are now reaching global markets. Many small businesses have started exporting these beautiful watch storage box collections to customers in Europe, North America, and beyond.
Some platforms even allow customers to interact directly with artisans, giving them insight into the story behind the piece they’re buying. This connection between maker and buyer adds emotional value to the product, something mass-manufactured items can’t replicate.
Final Thoughts
The wooden handicraft culture of Pakistan is a treasure trove of skill, tradition, and beauty. Among its many products, the wooden watch box stands out as a perfect blend of function and form—a product that protects your prized timepieces while showcasing exquisite artistry.
So the next time you're looking for a watch storage box or a High-quality watch organizer, consider going beyond the generic and investing in something handmade. With a product from Pakistan, you're not just buying a box—you're owning a story.

Why Your business Needs a Website?

Let’s cut to the chase: If your business doesn’t have a website in 2025, you’re basically ghosting potential customers. Yeah, your Instagram grid is fire, and your TikTok unboxing videos go semi-viral. But here’s the tea ☕—social media isn’t yours. Algorithms change, platforms die (RIP Vine), and one accidental Community Guidelines violation could nuke your entire presence. A website, though? That’s your forever digital HQ. Here’s why you need one, stat.
1. Your Digital Handshake 💻🤝
Imagine this: Someone stumbles on your Etsy shop or sees your art at a local market. They Google you later… and crickets. No website? Suspicious. A sleek site instantly screams, “We’re legit!” Bonus points if it’s not stuck in 2005.
Plus, your website is your vibe curator. Other platforms forces you into squares and reels; a website lets you go full ~aesthetic~ with fonts, colors, and layouts that scream you. It’s like your business card, portfolio, and hype squad rolled into one.
2. Open 24/7 (No Pants Required) 🌙
Your business shop closes at 6 PM. Your website? It’s out here making sales at 2 AM while you’re binge-watching Netflix. Night owls, international buyers, or that person who just has to book your product/services reading at midnight? A website never clocks out.
Throw in an online store, booking system, or even a FAQ page, and you’re basically automating your side hustle. Less time answering “What’s your gluten-free option?” DMs, more time living your best life.
3. Control Your Story (Before Someone Else Does) 🎤
Social media is like a chaotic group chat—you’re at the mercy of trends, trolls, and Zuckerberg’s whims. A website is your TED Talk stage. You own the narrative, the visuals, and the vibe. Share your origin story, flex your client wins, or blog about your niche obsession (looking at you, vintage typewriter restoration tutorials).
And let’s be real: If your entire brand lives on other platforms, what happens when the next app steals Gen Z’s attention? A website is your forever home base.
4. Spy-Level Insights 🔍
Google Analytics is low-key a crystal ball. Want to know if people care about your new product line? Check which pages they’re lurking. Notice most traffic comes from mobile? Time to ditch that desktop-only design. Social media metrics only show surface-level likes—your website data tells you why people stay (or bounce faster than a bad first date).
5. Outshine the Competition (Quietly) 😎
Your competitor’s website looks like it was built on Windows 95? Congrats, you’ve already won. Even a simple, clean site makes you look pro AF. Plus, SEO magic (translation: Google juice) means when someone searches “best eco-friendly candles NYC,” you pop up first. Meanwhile, Karen’s Etsy shop is buried on page 10.
6. Sell Stuff While You Sleep 🛌💰
E-commerce isn’t just for Amazon. Platforms like Shopify or Big Cartel let you sling products globally, whether you’re selling hand-poured candles or PDF astrology charts. No more “DM for pricing” — just add to cart and magic happens.
7. Be Everywhere at Once (But Like, Chill) 🌍
A website turns your local business into a global player. That crochet hat shop in Omaha? Now it’s shipping to Sweden. Your freelance editing gig? Clients in Bali are sliding into your contact form. And if you want to stay local, SEO can target your city so hard, you’ll dominate “near me” searches like a boss.
8. The bottom line
No website = leaving money, credibility, and opportunities on the table. Social media is the party; your website is the afterparty where real connections happen.
How to start?
Contact a company who provides services for website building. just like us. or hire a freelancer.
Keep it simple: Home, About, Contact, maybe a Shop.
Add personality— your business want to articulate.
Your corner of the internet is waiting. 🌐✨ (P.S. If you don’t build it, they won’t come. And by “they,” we mean customers.)

In which Eris and the Drifter go shopping in the last city.

Art by @dredgenaves
Link to the story on Ao3 if you prefer to read it there
It was early and many of the market vendors had not opened up their shops, carts, or stalls yet in the rubble of the last city where everyone routinely gathered for commerce.
“The material feels nice.”

>It's video, captured from Berri's goggles. She's turned a corner, blending in with the crowds... somehow, and following the growing sounds of "the (Shipped) Gold Standard." The camera bobs along with the woman, though the speed of her gaze is mercifully not a whipping blur. She turns from one side street to another, closer to music that's only occasionally punctuated by distant gunfire. This part of the city is quiet, reeling from the action still. There's a powderized section of wall she passes by, riddled with bullet holes.
>The music is less muffled as she takes a right, into an alley, tentatively bustling with the most fearless residents of Argie East, attempting to have a regular evening in this hidden sliver of commerce, a free market crammed out of sight. The source is at the other end of the alleyway, past a number of impromptu stalls, or back-of-the-trunk shops. A brand-new sign hangs from above a door, set below a fistful of damaged steps, a basement establishment. The goggles-camera zooms in briefly, long enough for Berri and viewer alike to catch the name of the bar, printed below a cutout of a bearded man, wearing a pointed ushanka hat: "The Revolutionary Wizard."
>Now the camera blurs, as Berri rushes down the street, down the stairs, banging through the door and into a room from another world. Brands of liquor and beer from a hundred different universes fill collapsing, second-hand shelves, the walls are covered with repurposed or stolen neon art. As Berri kicks the door open, fifteen different guns are leveled at her, each held by various degrees of hardened criminal, all of them just wanting one, single, uninterrupted drink.
>"You all! Put them Fahkin' guns away! That bitch is all mine!" The voice that precedes the woman draws Berri's -and the camera's- attention to the counter, as a blonde woman, with brilliant green eyes set behind a pair of round lenses, spills out of a back room. Maria pulls herself up to her full height, revealing under her unbuttoned aloha shirt, a worn holster with a shining pistol in it. The camera goes dark as the patrons return to their drinks, and the faint whisper of Maria's androgynous, cigarette-scarred voice says, "No fahkin' filming."

Why Choose Kerala for Chartered Accountancy?
Kerala has built a reputation for providing quality education across a wide spectrum of professional courses, including Chartered Accountancy. The state is home to several renowned CA institutes that are well-equipped to provide a solid foundation in accountancy principles, practical training, and exam preparation. Kerala’s education system places a strong emphasis on conceptual understanding, ensuring that students are well-prepared to tackle the rigorous CA exams conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
Top Chartered Accountant Institutes in Kerala
If you're looking to become a Chartered Accountant, it's essential to choose a reputable institute. Here are some of the top CA institutes in Kerala that are known for their quality of education and successful student outcomes:
ICAI Accredited Institutions The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has established various accredited centers across Kerala. These centers are managed by ICAI itself, ensuring that students receive the most up-to-date information, industry trends, and professional support.
Ernakulam Branch of ICAI Located in Ernakulam, this branch of ICAI is one of the most prominent centers for CA students in Kerala. The institute offers state-of-the-art classrooms, library facilities, and experienced faculty to support students throughout their journey.
Trivandrum Branch of ICAI Situated in the capital city, the Trivandrum branch is another popular destination for aspiring CAs. It provides well-structured programs, study materials, and frequent mock exams to help students gauge their progress.
Private CA Coaching Institutes Kerala also hosts several private coaching institutes that provide Chartered Accountancy training, such as CAPS Academy, Logic School of Management, and Sreeram Academy. These institutes have their unique approach to teaching, with experienced faculty members who focus on personalized instruction and practical applications.
The Chartered Accountant Course Structure
The journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant in India is divided into three primary stages:
Foundation Course This is the entry-level exam for students who have completed their 12th grade. It covers fundamental topics such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, and Mathematics.
Intermediate Course The second level, known as the CA Intermediate, is more rigorous and covers advanced topics like Corporate Law, Taxation, and Financial Management. Students who have graduated in commerce or any other stream with specified marks can enter the intermediate level directly.
Final Course The last stage is the CA Final, where students are required to complete articleship, a hands-on training period under a practicing CA. This phase provides practical exposure to accountancy, tax matters, and other financial practices.
Upon successful completion of these stages and the articleship, students earn the prestigious title of Chartered Accountant.
Benefits of Chartered Accountant Online Classes
As a CA student, you may find that traditional classroom courses may not always fit into your busy schedule. For this reason, many CA institutes in Kerala offer online classes, which have become increasingly popular. Here are some key benefits of opting for Chartered Accountant online classes:
Flexibility Online classes provide the flexibility to learn at your own pace and on your schedule. This allows students to balance studies with other responsibilities, such as internships or part-time jobs.
Access to Quality Content Online CA classes often provide access to high-quality video lectures, recorded sessions, and digital study materials. This ensures you don’t miss out on valuable content, even if you cannot attend a live session.
Cost-Effective Online courses tend to be more affordable than traditional in-person classes, making it easier for students to access top-tier education without significant financial strain.
Personalized Learning Experience Many online CA courses incorporate interactive tools like quizzes, mock exams, and one-on-one mentoring sessions. This allows you to customize your learning experience according to your strengths and weaknesses.
Time Efficiency With no need to commute to physical classrooms, online learning saves a significant amount of time, which can be redirected towards intensive study, revision, or relaxation.

Success Rates and Alumni Network A good institute will have a high pass rate for CA exams. Also, an active alumni network can provide valuable guidance and networking opportunities.
Online Learning Options If you plan to balance CA studies with other responsibilities, choose an institute that offers well-structured online classes to support remote learning.
Preparing for a Successful CA Career in Kerala
